Speaker 1 (00:00):
Sean Livingston and you share a nickname.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Yeah, yeah, but that's Dot, right, that's that's died, And
that's that's not for me.

Speaker 3 (00:09):
That's people are calling me down college. That's all.

Speaker 2 (00:12):
That's jay Z man, that's we got it. We all
got it from jay Z. Yeah, I mean, and that's
part of like the actual name. Like that's like, I
don't think I've ever call Sean Livingston.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
But it used to be weird to me.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Like what I'll be in the hallways oracle back in
the day when step was on the team with Stephan
around Youah, Dot, that's Dot, that's Doe. You don't know
we we sometimes we're in the same room. We don't
know who who they're talking to.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Oh man, that's goin to be crazy.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
Like steps called us both that that's Dot and Dot.
Like we'll be right next to each other, both of
us turn like, that's my guy.

Speaker 3 (00:42):
That's my guy. I call him that. He called me
Dot when we see each.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
Other, shouts to the Dots. We are back. What's good? Dot? Trade?
What up?

Speaker 3 (00:55):
Baby?

Speaker 1 (00:56):
What's going on A much? Man? I know you came
home with that hardware. Man, what's up?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
You saw it? You saw it?

Speaker 1 (01:03):
Send me a little trophy the league popped up in
the gym today that the Hornets had it for me,
ready to delivery a little three point percentage champion for
the season.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
So it's a dope little momento to have for the year.
I remember growing up my pops had one on the mantle.
I think you wanted the three point percentage title in
like ninety seven or ninety eight, something like that. So
I grew up looking at dad, and it's good to
have one for my own crib.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yeah. Man, that's not easy to do, man, And I
think it's pretty dope that your kids get to see it, man,
you know, and and hopefully had the same aspirations you had,
man seeing you know when you've seen your dad have his, So,
you know, salute to you, you know what I mean.
Obviously it's a long season, but you was able to
get something, you know, out of it, Man, you left
with something exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
That's cool.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
I know the league sends out those type of trophies
and plaques to people all over the league and leading
the league in different different statistical categories like assist I
think Steph got a couple for free throw percentage. Yeah,
I mean scoring type of stuff like that. So it's
good to have one for the crib and a good
way for the league to remember the regular season because

(02:09):
it does mean a little something. Even though the Hornets
had one of the worst records of the year, I
had to leave with something.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
Yeah, no, for sure, for sure, Hey, man, it's gonna
help man, the negotiations start, I will say that. It's
all good. Man. You still got a clip, man.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
Yes, sir, Yes, sir, let's get into it. We're talking
about today.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
Man, today, Man, we're talking about man the gradest sixth
man of the two thousands, Yes, sir. And everybody always
make it seem like it's an easy conversation because they
bring up the Jamal Crawford to the Lou Williams, But
this is before them. It's a crazy thing about it.
They didn't get it kicked off unto a little post
two thousand and nine, you know what I mean. So
we're gonna have some names that's gonna raise some eyebrows,

(02:50):
some names that haven't been said in a long time.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Man.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
And I'm excited about this one just because again, this
was my team to adupe year where I was just truly, truly,
truly a fan of basketball, and uh yeah, it's just
super exciting. So to get even just to jump right
into it. Man, how important is a six man in
the game.

Speaker 3 (03:12):
It's key. It's key.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Especially it's more probably more important throughout the regular season.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
For most teams.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
I mean, if you have championship aspirations, you're six man
got to be really high quality because they got to
up that level when you gets to the playoffs, because
you're only those those rotations shrink.

Speaker 3 (03:27):
And you got to do be able to do a
lot of different stuff.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
I'll give it to you a little bit later, but
I got to I got a strong opinion on some
of these six men we talk about in the league.
I know it hit home for me obviously. I played
to come off the bench a lot of my career.
My dad has a six Man of the Year award.
I got a strong opinion on some of these so
called six men.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Oh yeah, man, I can't I can't wait. Man. So
you know, like we always do, we're gonna jump into
the criteria. Man, So how you even become ranked for
six Man of the Year award? You got it. You
can't start. You have to come off the bench right right,
you know, playoff contributions really don't matter in the regular season,
but your overall impact in the game, right, you know

(04:08):
what I mean, it's more of the plus than the minus,
keeping the league, scoring the basketball, etc. Doing those things
to qualify to primarily come off the bench to give
you an award, winning or peak season. So what do
you feel eliminates outside of starting, eliminates you from being
in this conversation?

Speaker 2 (04:30):
To me, personally, this is where my strong take comes
in is you got to be a real bench guy.
You can't be one of those people who one of
the top three person people on your team. Nobody better
than you at your position, and you just come off
the bench just because that's what you want to do
and that's what coach asking you to do.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
To me, it's like, if it's nobody in front of
you that's as.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Good or better at your position where you should be
in that starting lineup, you're not a real six man.
To me, it's like, cause I feel like it's harder
in a lot of ways to get your rhythm keep
it rhythm throughout season. When you're coming off the bench
playing twenty twenty five minutes. You don't know how many
touches you're gonna give every game. You don't know what
kind of shots, what role you're gonna have, and you
kind of cheat the game to me when you're one

(05:11):
of the best players on your team and you're coming
off the bench, you know you're playing thirty thirty five
minutes a night. You know you're gonna get your shots.
It's kind of like that's not everybody's role. So you
kind of got the edge up on that sixth.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Man of the Year awarding.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
I'm viewing you as a starter who comes off the bench,
not a six man.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
So you so you basically saying to qualify yourself as
a sixth man, you gotta come off the mud. You
literally got to be in the trenches, man, like you
don't know when your name called, and when you are called,
you come in and you do what's the best thing
for your team, you know what I mean? Because yeah,
you're right, You're right, there are some you know, and again,
the first person that we actually about to talk about

(05:48):
is a super six man when you really think about it,
like this dude can start any other team, you know
what I mean, to a point where it kind of
messed up the model. I feel on how you view it,
because now across the board, everybody feels like they're going
to get a six man like this, and it's it's

(06:10):
very rare ego wise that you get somebody to say,
all right, yo, you're gonna come off the bench and
this is embrace this role. But if you're a former
starter man and you're not late in your career, it's
kind of tough to be like, all right, yo, let's
give him this award, you know what I mean, Because
he's used to shooting at an odd clip. Bro, he's
not the forgotten.

Speaker 2 (06:25):
For those of them you talk about man, right, one
of the super six men, one of the best ever
to come off the bench. And I don't know if
he kind of accepted that role because obviously it was
crazy at the time, just because, like I said, he
one of the best two guards, not only on his
team in the league.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
So to me, that's a he a fake six man, like.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
He's literally the star of his country. Yeah, you know
what I mean, one of the best players in the world.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Yes, and you're a six man.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
You compete with guys who literally can't start in the
league for that six Man of the Year awarding, and
by saying, oh, he's he's one of the.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Best bench players.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Now he's coming off the bench behind Bruce Bown, Steven Jackson,
thirty four year old Michael Finley, like, yep, people, he's
head and shoulders better than at the time.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
But willing to sacrifice. I think the real nod may
be a sacrifice. Where's the sacrifice?

Speaker 3 (07:18):
That's not a sacrifice to me. You know you're gonna
come up.

Speaker 2 (07:20):
He knows he's coming off the bench playing thirty thirty
five minutes.

Speaker 3 (07:24):
He's getting his shots.

Speaker 2 (07:25):
He's gonna get the same numbers as if he came
out of the tunnel and his name was called with
the starters.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
It's no different. That's fair.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
I mean, I guess when you see the light at
the end of the tunnel, it means I think it's
worth it.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
The only time is when you get to that like
you might get to that negotiating table and like, yo,
they might have cut a couple of mil off.

Speaker 3 (07:42):
Your salary because you're a bitch player.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Now, I don't think they doing them like that in
San Antonio because that's not I don't like that's how
they get down.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
But yeah, it definitely, it definitely was a behind the
scenes handshake, like he gonna get this type of money. Yeah, well,
let's let's let's go through. Let's go through why he's
ends out man. You know what I mean, he's a
part of the dynasty. Man in the two thousands, he's
won two thousand and three, two thousand and five, two
thousand and seven. It's creative play making and clutch scoring.
And you mentioned like he averaged nineteen point five off

(08:13):
the bench, four point eight rebounds and four point five
a system in thirty minutes. Again, bucket thirty minutes. Most
guys for you to be considered most bench players not
getting thirty minutes.

Speaker 2 (08:25):
Yeah, and he was waiting what was he And he
was probably the second or third leading scorer on his team,
Like it ain't he's scoring nineteen, that's that's almost a dub.
But he's playing on the Spurs, who they spread the
well to lead leading the team is scoring, but after
that it's him Tony right, neck and neck, that's.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
Real, man. I mean, that's controversial.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Man.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
I think a lot of people either go agree or disagree,
But I think you have a valid point with the experience.
And then just the same way how I feel about
most improved man, Like if you a lottery pick, you know,
I don't think you should be able to be qualified
for that because like you already were expected to do
whatever you were supposed to do, you know what I mean?
On high regards. It's not a castaway. You didn't shock anybody,

(09:11):
you know what I mean? Or you didn't have a
terrible season when mister irrelevant averaged two and then turn
it into fifteen. So it's all, it's all. It's interesting
to look at it that way. Let's talk about the
Brazilian blur man Leandro Barbosa. Man.

Speaker 2 (09:24):
All right, let's just qualify this first, right, So a
question I asked myself when I was thinking about this,
like what makes a good six man?

Speaker 3 (09:31):
First?

Speaker 2 (09:32):
You want to ask some versatility, come off the men.
You want to be able to play multiple positions. Right,
he can come off to Michigann, come in for Steve
Nash and play the point if you want him to.
He can come in at the two, play with Steve Nash.
He can do a lot of different stuff. So Barbosa,
he was a change of pace, Like you got Steve
Nash who was quick, but he wasn't like fast north south.
He was playing methodical and Landro came in the game

(09:54):
and turn the tempo up like pushing the ball, and
it's kind of a change of pace, and that's kind
of what you wanted for a backup, for a six
man off the bench, you won a different look for
the for the opposing team.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
I will say in his case, he was very system dependent.
The seven second or less really worked in his favor.
The idea. He won the six Man of the Year
award six o seven. It worked in his favor so much. Man,
he averaged eighteen a game, two rebounds and four assists,
and he shot forty three from the three, you know
what I mean. So he was getting those looks. Those

(10:26):
players ran for him, and then his speed worked. You
know from in the end, Man that that genuinely helped,
especially seven seconds man like, he probably was more regarded
than anybody on that roster, and you really think about
how how much he benefited from it.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
You know.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
It's interesting though later in his career when he went
over to Golden State, right and he was backing up
I mean, was he probably the two guards Sean Liveston
was the one whatever coming up backing up Steph he was.
It was similar change of pace to what Stephen Clay did.
He put to put his head down, he got to
the rim. So that's another like you want to you
want somebody who kind of mixes it up from the

(11:03):
guys you're starting once you go to that bench unit.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Yeah, absolutely, giving you, you know, two different options man
to see. And he's one of one of the one
of the rare six men that really got it done
at the side and speed and just effective the way
to change the game. And no one didn't even play
the game like that.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Any other things you look at for, like when you
think about a six man, what do you think that
a lot of six men have in common?

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Or stuff you look for that makes a good six man.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
When I think of a six man, I think of
somebody who is like a game like like a game changer,
you know what I'm saying, Like when you come in,
you're not losing the lead. You you low key can control.
You can trust them, Yeah, you could trust you could
trust the team, You could trust them out there. But
he's also like second star really of the second you know,

(11:55):
he's the leader of the second unit, you know what
I mean. So like ideally the offenses ran through that
person they being a leader, you know, like it's just trust.
It's literally giving the starting unit a break and either
keeping the lead safe or are starting to run. And
if you are effective to do that, Like I think

(12:15):
you know, obviously this conversation is more points driven than anything.
But like I can even yell and shout to defense,
you know what I'm saying. There's so many things that
you can add in this conversation. It's not all points,
but obviously points is the main common denominator when you
when you want to argue and debate. But yeah, like

(12:36):
if you can keep the lead or push it that
you've done your job more.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
Than that's a good point.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
You talk about defense because I think about the microwave score,
you kind of bringing those combo guards who can't get hot,
maybe can win be the best player for your team
or the other team, but then you got those You
talk about the defensive end a lot of especially in
the two thousand and nineties, you had those point guards
who would come in and pick up full court because
you know they're not playing thirty thirty five minutes a game.

(13:01):
They're gonna play give you a song twenty with they
pick it up ninety four feet. They changed in the pace.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
He might be down.

Speaker 2 (13:07):
They gotta get the momentum back on your side, and
those are the guys who get steady. If you got
the lead, they gonna get you in the right sets
and stuff. So there's two sides of the ball in
terms of, yeah, something you're trying to bring off the bench.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
Yeah, definitely two sides to the ball. All right. Another
player that we're gonna bring up, legendary Sacramento King Bobby Jackson. Man,
I'm not sure I Bobby Jackson was on the staff
when you was in Sacramento. But man, Bobby Jackson won
in two thousand and two, two thousand and three, he
averaged fifteen points a game, three rebounds, and he was
very instrumental to that Kings run, you know what I mean.

(13:40):
Like he was a guy that comes in shoots the three,
get to the Baja, changed the momentum, had his head
band on, swag was up, you know what I mean.
He had it cracking. I remember he got first drafted
by the Denver Nuggets. He used to wear the high socks. Man,
Bobby Jackson's cold to me for real.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
Now.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
He was one of my favorite players and back when
he was the Kings and they was making those playoff runs.
And similar to what I was speaking to earlier, Bobby
would come in and he was a different look from
what Mike Baby gave you, right, Mike Baby was slower.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
And you knew when when.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Bobby Jackson checked in the game, the crowd stood up
a little bit, the energy turned up because they knew
he was gonna he was gonna turn up the pace,
turn up the energy. He was a walking bucket when
he got in the game. He was he was getting
shots up and he was versa. He was kind of
that combo guard too. He could play one order two,
so I mean he was getting to it.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, No, for sure, it's all about jet Man Seattle's
own you know what I mean. Jet He's another guy
that you can argue and say, like Man Loki might
have been too good for that, just because he just
had so much game. He was a former starter in Atlanta,
you know what I mean, got moved around, ended up
in Dallas, accepted a role, you know what I mean.

(14:55):
But when you needed him to step up, you know
what I mean. He won six Minute of the Year
in OAH nine, averaging nineteen see a lot of these
guys average nineteen when you pull up the stats, like
they got a lot of attempts, they was able to
score the ball, you know what I mean. He was
a clutch shooter in those playoff runs, especially a twenty
eleven title. You know, he doesn't match quietly up with

(15:15):
Genobli's run, but like he you know, you go back
and watch those Miami series. They had nothing for him. Man.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
I used to watch a ton of Jason Terry film
when I first got into the league. I went over
to Dallas playing for Rick Carlisle. He was comparing me
to him and showing me some stuff that he wanted
me to do that he used to run with Jet
and all that. So Jet is one of those guys
I feel like I know his game inside of down
and he was like, you look at Jet, and he
played a lot of minutes on those teams.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
Play close to thirty minutes like you were saying.

Speaker 2 (15:46):
But he was a bench guy to me because it's
hard to start a guy like him who's kind of undersized,
and a lot of these bitch guys they're great at
one side of the ball, like he was a he
won those slouse defensive he would get.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Yeah, he definitely was an equalizer. But like like you said,
the league started to get a little bit bigger. Yeah,
became a defensive liability at six' two trying to guard
other two. Guards and then what you were going to
get out of him is when you're resting those, starters
he was going to. Score, yeah take over your hear
if he can keep it close so he could score

(16:22):
and give you what you need until they put the
lineup back. In then he did his. Job and that's
What jack could. Do he could shoot, three he can
go in there and sneaky dunk on. You he can you,
know get the, floater he can get the mill. Range,
yeah a true game.

Speaker 3 (16:35):
For, real like he.

Speaker 2 (16:36):
WAS i, MEAN i know early this is probably early twenty,
tens but when they want that. Championship he benefited from
having a coach Like carlisle who wasn't afraid to play
two small. Guards like he went out there with J
kidd and it was him and jk in the. Backcourt
it was him AND Jj burrean in the backcourt sometimes
and they were getting to.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
It so, man that's a tiny. Backcourt small but. Tough,
yeah they were, tough, Man they LIKE i, said they gave. Fits.
Man you, know they talk about the eight point game
from Bron bro like that one's always getting smoothed. Over
But Jason terry was the star of that, game and
there was a lot of stars on that. Floor jet
one of my favorite players.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
Ever and you're gonna see him on my at the
very tip top of my gold.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
Five, okay all, right all, RIGHT i like to hear that,
man all. Right Mike. Miller Mike. Miller he won in
two thousand and, five two thousand and six with thirteen
points a, game so a little, LOWER i, think a
little bit more, realistic you, know five, rebounds showcasing his
shooting and. Versatility he also he's. Decorated a lot of
people don't understand how Decorated Mike miller. Is, obviously he

(17:42):
Won rookie of The, YEARS Nba, champion Six men of The.
Year you, know, obviously shoot, three shoot the blood off that.
Ball but just figured it out a little bit later
on down in his, career you know WHAT i, mean
the bumps and bruises In orlando and then finally making
it To memphis and finding himself and and becoming an effective. Player,
man he's a pretty damn good.

Speaker 2 (18:02):
Shooter, yeah he's just another one of those guys who
could play the one through the three like he was a.
Score he could shoot the blood out of the ball
if you played through the post like he was playing
off power. Gasol he has spread the floor for, him
but if you, wanted you can put the ball in
his hands and he can run the point for.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
You.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Yeah like this is a few years into his, career
coming off the bench In, memphis getting to.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
It he was a monster six.

Speaker 2 (18:23):
MAN i remember JUST i learned so much from From
Mike miller my first year in the league BECAUSE i went.
OVER i was with The grizzlies for like a month
and it was late in his, career AND i usually
sit beside him on every plane ride and we used
to just chop it up the whole flight just about. Hoops,
man he's one of the coolest dudes in the league than.
Me we used to chop it about, everything and he's
a basketball savant and gave me a lot of game

(18:47):
on those plane.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Rides, Man WHY i didn't. KNOW i ain't a real, fan,
BRO i ain't. Know you had a short stand with.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
HIM i had a couple of coffee as they, Say,
MAN i Was, okay that might have. BEEN i don't
know if that was the first team that signed me
out of THE glea my first.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Year but do you have that? JERSEY i? DO i.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
Do that's a that's a good one. Man one hundred
dollars right. Now if you guess what NUMBER i, War
i'm not even completely. SURE i gotta double check, it BUT.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
I want to, say.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
Obviously it ain't.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
Thirty, NO i wasn't. Thirty it probably, was LIKE i
want to, say, man, no, wait let me see what
years is.

Speaker 3 (19:30):
It was two thousand and thirteen or.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
Fourteen, okay there ain't too many numbers, really that's around
With i'm gonna go.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
With i'm gonna let you know it was number.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
THREE i was gonna say to number, three you, KNOW
i THINK i Was AI.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Ai was oo nine over there with.

Speaker 3 (19:50):
That, yeah. Exactly so that's a cool that's a cool.

Speaker 1 (19:54):
Jersey, man that's a good.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
Trivia.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
MAN i still got, It still got, it, Man i'm
pretty surely hard to.

Speaker 3 (20:02):
MAN i had a real couple of.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
CARS i was, definite like a month maybe before the day,
line AND i PLAYED i got one, game not even
for a.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
Minute so you ain't see me in the jersey a,
lot but it. Was it was on my. Back that's what's.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Up, OH i don't even. Know oh that's.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
CRAZY i heard to double check.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
It number one is that's harder one hard One, yeah,
yeah one hard and The memphis that's hard three with The.
Warriors i'm, tripping, okay, yeah dang shout start Producer Peter.
Man he, confirmed that's.

Speaker 3 (20:44):
That's that's how number. One that's how.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
CRAZY i didn't even know what number on War that's
how QUICK i was, there in and out AND i
didn't even take my walm mop.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Pa let's talk About Ben gordon man as a as
A bulls. Fan those Baby bulls. Runs Ben gordon bro
he was so cold to, me like six'. Two if
that had, bounce you know What i'm, saying let it
fly and it was a, pain Bro like he jumped
really high off his. JUMPER i can get to a

(21:14):
boy high if he need, to you know WHAT i.
Mean he was really giving The celtics the. Blues he
was giving and heat The blues The knicks like when
he checked in you know seven about to score for.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Sure, yeah he was one of.

Speaker 2 (21:28):
Those he was on The scout report high, up but
he was officially he was a real bench. Guy talking
about those fake bench. Guys he would come. IN i
think he AVERAGED i looked it. Up he had was
like fifteen and twenty four minutes the year he won six.

Speaker 3 (21:41):
Mini that's.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Blazing let's getting to, it blazing hip hop AND r AND.
B he's out there blazing for. Real, yeah he came
up to.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
It and then play a, ton but he had a
huge role in that, team like he was changing. Games, yeah, man, yep.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
They had it going for. Real, man that was that
was some exciting. Years ESPECIALLY i KNOW i was a
deed to have. HIM i used to wonder why he
didn't start some, times but you, know he made the
six man look important for real to.

Speaker 2 (22:07):
Me, yeah another one of those, Guys like that's the
flaw of some of these guys while they can't be
full time.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Starters because he was the undersized and he's it was
tough for.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Him on the other, End like you, know playing For,
tips you gotta you gotta be, big and you gotta,
guard AND i mean he worried about the defensive man,
first but he was so good. Offensively tips couldn't keep
him off the floor and in the playoffs and big time.
Moments SO i, mean that's that's kind of the trend
of some of these these six men were talking about
great off the bench and couldn't grasp a starting spot

(22:38):
for a lot of times because they had they had
one big.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Flaw maybe you mentioned the keyword. Microwave microwave, guys it's
the epitome of a six. Man and we got another microwave,
Guy Eddie.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
House Eddie, house.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
The house could get it. GOING i still love to
watch His Arizona state sixty one point. Game he gets it.
Going He. House you, know obviously he got the FUNNIEST
nba fight. Ever. Man hopefully we can get right for
on and talk about. That but definitely one man that's controversy,
Man but He House man with The celtics bro he

(23:14):
really he played a huge role in that. Run for.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Real he and that mold of those like off the
bench guys who come in change the, game get the
crowd into every.

Speaker 3 (23:25):
Bucket it's like he hit the game. Winner he got
running all.

Speaker 2 (23:28):
Over the, Floor AND i mean it's kind of an
easy call for the coach because you throw him in
there if you got to go and he's gonna play
a little bit a lot of, minutes a little bit.
More and if, not if he didn't making shots that,
night you take him out and live to fight another.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Day so he.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Housed, yeah but he had some, good good playoff moments In.
BOSTON i know That boston crowd loved him and he
WAS i, mean he gave me a lot of hope
because he was a smaller guy who could shoot it
and was just getting to.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
It SO i looked at.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
IT i watched a lot of his film WHEN i
was in college and early in my career, too just
how different ways to get your shot, off leaning and stepping.
Back some of the shots look, crazy but he was
knocking him.

Speaker 1 (24:03):
Down, Aaron aaron GETS i feel like he don't get
a lot of, love. Bro when we talk about That
IRIS mvp, year, right they, said, oh he had no
team like a Won you know What i'm, saying Six
man of The, year The Ken Babe mutombo Won Defensive

(24:23):
player of The year that. YEAR i even got the sexiest, names,
Bro but you gotta give, you know What i'm, Saying
aaron McKee some, Love. Bro he makes some big shots
FOR ai and also one of the combo guys that
could play point When ai needed to get to the.
Two he would Help Eric snow sometimes and he was just,
there man, like, reliable. DURABLE i just always Had ai,

(24:49):
back bro and he's probably one of the unsung heroes
of That philly.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Team, yeah that, year they had the best team in the,
league number one in The, east and.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
They kind of swept the swept up those postseason a.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Wars like you, said Uh ai M, vp The Kem
Bay Defensive player of The, Year aaron, McKee who we're
talking about, now Six man of The. Year i'm Sure
Larry brown probably Won coach.

Speaker 3 (25:11):
Of The year.

Speaker 2 (25:12):
Too they were sweeping up the awards and they had
a squad they built the crazy all everybody was built Around. Ai,
Right So aaron McKee coming off the, bench like you,
said playing in either, position he had to guard up
and score left off the bisch because they didn't have
a lot of. Scoring they everything was built to defend Around.
Ai give a out the, ball BUT i mean he

(25:33):
come in For, east know and get and get to.
It so those are some good teams Around. Ai with
The sixers And aaron McKey one of those six.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
Men you gotta talk about when you're talking about this, decade.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
It's another player man that you might have an issue
with because obviously he is a Former All. Star but you,
know in the latter part of his career he was
very effective as a six. Man anton jamis.

Speaker 3 (25:55):
My guy SEVEN o, Four charlotte A charlotte, product one
of my one of my. Guys.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
UH i See Antoine jamison on the on the driving
range here And. Charlotte the last couple of weeks he
out there on my member of my club here And.
Charlotte he working on his golf game a lot. Too
so we bring up that, NAME i brings a smile
to my. FACE i GOTTA i gotta find him out
there on the. Links but now he's we talked about
this six, Man so he's A he's a his whole,

(26:23):
CAREER i think he, started except one.

Speaker 1 (26:25):
YEAR i was gonna say he's a score, bro like for,
real for, real like he's known for. Scoring so the,
IDEA i feel like he's Like Vince, man you know
how they he Asks vince to be a six man
later on in his. Career BUT i don't really think
at the end of the day he was technically a six.
Man you, know a.

Speaker 2 (26:44):
True six man now toine he, WAS i mean even
later in his career he. STARTED i think he went
over To. Dallas the reason he's in this conversation is
because that he won the Six man of The year
the one year he came off the bench AND i
was In. Dallas he was backing up dirt play would
dark a lot that. Year BUT i, mean that's that's
kind of a bar like the. One i'm a full

(27:06):
time started my whole career and in one YEAR i
come off the. BENCH i add that six minute year
award to my. Mantle that's.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Hard, Yeah, no it's definitely a flex, MAN i, mean
but also just being a vet and a pro to
be able to go take. It you go, hit, yeah
do what's best for the, team you, know and he
has you know, again these are these are another thing
he's in. There he's looped in those conversations With lebron
had no. Help he was hooping that year In. Cleveland

(27:34):
so it's like it's unfortunate that you get into them,
conversations especially when they don't win the ring and it gets.
Overshadowed but like a lot of these guys are like
really really really good.

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Man, no it's one he wanted the best to do.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
It.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Man he he had a he had like an unconventional,
game like the. Floaters he could shoot, it he could
put on the fla he, was he was he was super. Nice,
man you're talking about it's not like it's one of
those conversations we gotta have with like it ain't this
like this is a sacrifice right. Here like you, know
it ain't easy to come off the, bench you backing
up all time great and. Dirt but what makes it

(28:12):
a little easier when you you're the? Best like. That
they year they had the best team in the. LEAGUE
i think that that might have been the year that
it was upset in the first.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Round they had a.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
Squad, yeah, man they definitely had a. Squad all, right
what About Ricky.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Davis Rick Ricky.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
DAVIS i, mean everybody got a Crazy Ricky davis. STORY
i shure like he, was like we gotta talk about
he's he one of those guys who can be the
best player on your, team best player on the other.
Team his coach loves him and hates him at the same,
time bounce back and forth from starter to six. Man
but it felt like if he was if he was
playing a lot of minutes on your, team he was

(28:49):
your starting two, guard you're probably gonna end up in that.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Lottery, yeah he's for, self, Man i'm looking at some
of these. Stats right in two thousand and, two two
thousand and, three he came off the bench and twenty
three or seventy nine games and average twenty points per.
Game although he Was cleveland's leading. Scorer, man he just
his playmaking and stuff like. That, Bro like he just showed.

(29:13):
Flashes they end up winning six seventeen games. Exactly you
know WHAT i. Mean that's the turnover on. It like
you know WHAT i? Mean his efficiency a, score.

Speaker 2 (29:23):
But you, know, oh to put this on people he
wanted he one of those like good great, score bad
team guys like.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Me me, me, yeah which first? Team? All? Me? Wise,
MAN i mean it, Worked it, Worked it, worked, honestly
because that's why you get him. Again you talk about,
specialists he's a. Scorer the next year he's In, boston
he's averaging. Fourteen let's talk about how hard it is
to average twenty points in THE.

Speaker 3 (29:48):
Nba who it ain't.

Speaker 1 (29:49):
EASY i know a lot of people that's on that
cusp of like they've had, fifties they've had, forties had,
thirties and they only had average like nineteen a.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
Game it means something to that twenty. Point, oh it
means it means something like eighteen nineteen. Something once you
get to that Twenty pointsburgh game average on a, season
you kind of go into a different stratosphere and a
different group of guys, because, uh it's just a consistently,
consistency night after night putting that ball in the.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
Hole everybody can't do. It everybody can't do, it that's for.
Sure definitely. Can't and NOW i MEAN i respect the
hell out of, scores. Man you can you can score that, ball,
man and you feeling it and the team need a
bucket because we watched a lot of games and were, like,
dang this game is, rough, man because guys are struggling
and then that one guy comes in and he just
gets it. Going he's just kind of, like, what it's

(30:42):
a real. Thing. Man i've watched a bunch of y'all
games and you come in and whether you got the
start or you just took advantage of the opportunity where
they finding, you and just one of them type of,
Nights i'll be, like, okay and you three for three,
early you bot to let it, fly you go and
keep going like it's about to be one of them.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
Games so, yeah but Rick Ricky, davis he also he
wanted the dudes that remind you The league Of. Business
like everybody not trying to win every, team not trying
to win every, organization but you got to keep people
in them. Seats people got to tune in And ricky
you might not like, say the team won't win a
lot of, games but he was a lot of.

Speaker 3 (31:16):
Nights he was MUSTY.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Tv he was he was put on the show like
you want to watch for the. Entertainment don't forget.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
That, yeah, yeah that triple double is still, egregious.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
The infamous triple double throwing it off the. Backboard then
he did he get it and they took, it took it.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
Away took it. Away, yeah they tried to punish for.

Speaker 3 (31:38):
It, Man but who did that? Recently?

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Probably, YEAH i think did it a couple of. Years that's, hilarious,
Man BUT i get. It, man you're thirsty for, it
thirsty for?

Speaker 3 (31:49):
It should that? Count should that? COUNT i mean it's,
like technically it's a.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Shot it's a. Shot it's just it's just that, pad
you know WHAT i. MEAN i just don't think the
game want to promote.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
That it ain't harder to if you play with, status
you can be out there looking real. Stupid, yeah people
who know the. Game you can see, mats you can
see it all, over.

Speaker 1 (32:11):
See, it, man and and they just be. Nasty. Man
and that's WHY i like WHEN nba coaches being certain,
guys they put the starters down because it's, like we're
not about to play them games WHERE i look at
the box score and say he still had thirty WHEN
i know how they, defended how how they how that
game basically bled, out you know What i'm. Saying, yeah
this last guy we bring, up man and he is extremely.

(32:33):
FUNNY i got a chance to meet. Him. Man he
do turkele turkle like he had games AND i was way, off.
BRO i compared him To, luca and it wasn't even
a knock bro When luca came out, right because he.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Though luca Before. Luca you Saw luca player right BEFORE
i saw him.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Play, yeah BECAUSE i just was trying to figure it all, out,
right AND i wasn't even Because, LUCA i, mean he
who can handle the, rock get shoot the, three he
can get to the rack and he could. Score SO
i was like earlyer slow players on, pace, yes But
luca was much faster early on, quicker, yeah you know
WHAT i, Mean like he. WAS i was looking at
some of his rookie stuff, again and he's explosive and

(33:12):
all that other. Stuff but that changed early, on you
know WHAT i, Mean and it wasn't even a. KNOCK
i was, Like, okay that's my that's my floor for.
HIM i said five Seasons luca would be all. STAR
i was on, that but also everybody was on the
Whole Marvin bagley, thing you know WHAT i, Mean LIKE

(33:33):
i really was just trying to be LIKE i didn't
have enough information to debate with, it BUT i really
LIKED i don't think a lot of people also watched
he Do, turkuluke so they took it more of a
disc than. ANYTHING i think.

Speaker 2 (33:47):
The problem is you're not drafting the heato top two
or three great really good.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
Thing but he's also one of my like real talk
about he's like one of my born in the wrong era,
Guys LIKE i think he really thrives in like era
like this because he had the. Size he can score inside,
out you know WHAT i, Mean he can hit. Rock
AND i just don't think he was using those teams,
sparingly you know WHAT i. Mean when he was really
getting it, going he played Alongside Da white and you,

(34:14):
Know Rashard, lewis and the list goes. On sacked The Chris. Webers,
yeah because he kind of remind me like the Early
james harder.

Speaker 2 (34:23):
Days Now james was a lot. Better, yeah but like
you knew he was primed for a bigger. Role you
just wait for, him.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
Just waiting for him to get to them situations and
and and the, one the one knock THAT i really
can say is when he got To, toronto he didn't
really live into them seat them, shoes because that's what
they traded him, for to be the, guy and it just.
Didn't he got paid all that bread and he was
really nice. Man but you, know, again some people benefit
more off being a two or three or a number

(34:51):
four option than being at number. One it's very, hard,
Man so.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
It's easier to flash than, yeah flash that town and
that started instead of doing knowing it's on your shoulders every.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Night AND i think he was just in a comfortable
position to be able to come off the bench and
be that six man guy because he know what he does,
best and it was very low, pressure you know WHAT i.
MEAN i think his shoulders got. Heavy man acting him
to be your first or second.

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Option, okay before we get to the goat top, FIVE
i got two. More now these might be twenty tens,
guys BUT i know they had some six man steps
in the two. THOUSANDS i GOT J Smith, Okay DENVER J,
Smith mike a wave like he was a bucket off the,
bench one of the all time change the Pace i'm

(35:38):
coming in And i'm making my presence felt ONCE i
get getting the, game LIKE i THINK i saw eight or.
Nine he was second and Six man of The year,
Voting SO i got to bring that. Up he more
of a twenty tens, guy LIKE i, Said but the
second one is lamar odom, Right, okay early twenty, tens
late two thousands kind of.

Speaker 3 (35:58):
Guy we're talking about just six man and what he was.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Doing BUT i know those those Two lakers chips at
the end of the two, thousands he, uh he was
a six man of those, teams playing Behind pale and by,
them and he came in like that versatility was. There
he could come, in run the, show he could put
the ball in his, hands played the, three four to
five Even Uh SO i want to bring his name
up because he's he won of those six men THAT i.

(36:23):
Remember you know What i'm, saying he, was he was
getting to.

Speaker 1 (36:25):
It shoutsdam shouted. Them all the guys we mentioned have won.
Award so, yeah you, know we gotta we gotta keep
that at the. Criteria man of, THEY i, MEAN i
think L o one later on he.

Speaker 2 (36:40):
Wanted he wanted in like twenty. Eleven, okay so that's
WHY i like the, back but he. Wanted he was
on the championship teams in the eight or nine whatever it,
was and then he wanted after they won the chip
the next.

Speaker 3 (36:53):
Year he won six men in the. Year, hello shout, Out,
hello shout.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Hello. Man all, right, man we're going take a quick,
break but when we get, back we're gonna give our
goat top. FIVE i can't wait for. This all, right

(37:25):
let's jump right into this goat. Five go. Ahead, Man
i'm curious to hear this because you say you got
a couple of players that's up there. HIGH i really
want TO i really want to hear, this all, right,
man go, five number, five and it's a lot of
people say the best.

Speaker 3 (37:42):
Ever, MAN i let.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
IT i was on my soap box earlier talking about
you got him at five at number.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Five because he has. Started all, right, BRO i can't do.

Speaker 2 (37:53):
IT i can't do this fat six man like, nah
you're a starter who came off the bitch and like
you're cheating the.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
Game.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
MAN i got real six menu out here grinding one
in up starting. Spot but they got to come off the.
Bench you man with, five number Four Ben, gordon LIKE i,
said efficiency getting to it in limited, minutes the opposite
of a man number.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Three, hello number. THREE i had Lamar. Odam that's WHY
i brought him, up.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Just because he was a six man on those those
STACKED La lakers championship teams came in different look LIKE i,
said could play anything from the three to the, FIVE
a bucket could pass it All that number Two Bobby
jackson for, real LIKE i, said one of my favorite
guys in that. Era and number one The jet my

(38:46):
player comp coming. Out that's the Number, jet number one
six man of the two.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Thousands, man that's a little shaky. MAN i like, it,
though it's very. Personal it's.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Personal it's.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Personal, HEY i HAD i had a personal, man you,
KNOW i had a couple of guys in mind that
everybody was LIKE i love, that you, KNOW i got
a couple of texts LIKE i love that you showed.
Up but, yeah hit me with the. Butt, yeah you
know anytime somebody hit you with the, butt like it's
one of them joints where you know you you, know
you was really dicey on. That all, Right i'm gonna
jump right in. Mind mine's not too much different than.

(39:18):
Yours but the orders a little switched. Around so FIVE
i Got Ben gordon shout The Baby. Bulls, FOUR i
Got jet, THREE i Got Bobby. Jackson, TWO i got
The brazilian Blur Leandro, bobosa and number ONE i got
Minded genoble.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
You kind of with yawk for a lot of, People
BUT i can't Have jet. Four Man Jack jet, well
he was he that That.

Speaker 2 (39:45):
Finals run against the heat when he was coming off
the bench playing thirty and getting to it against bron
and D wade and them just solidified it for, me
like youre going toe to toe with them off the
literally off the.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
Bench.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
Yeah, NO i Listen i'm not mad at. It. DEFINITELY
i just think of you, know multiple seasons and in different.
Ways LIKE i, said he made my. List he definitely
was getting it popping in in his respective. Role. Man
BUT i just GOTTA i gotta keep it that. Monume,
man just it's literally the award to, Me like he
is the face of THAT i mean for a lot of.

Speaker 3 (40:21):
People, WELL i.

Speaker 1 (40:22):
Mean he opens the door for The Jamal crawfords and
the Lou williams moving forward when they make their case
to try to get into the. Hall but you know
WHAT i, mean but he IS i don't want to
get you deep into the lou Will jamal.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
Conversation but we'll save.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
It we'll save it when we tap into that. Era
but definitely definitely one of the. Ones, man we're gonna
we're gonna take another break and when we get, back
we're gonna cover our favorite Segment born in the Wrong.
Era something just came, up, Man The Jet Jason terry

(41:10):
And Kenny. Smith The, Jet, well It's jet and The.
Jet right when YOU'RE nba players with the same, nickname
which happens because you know, nicknames do you change? It
do you keep? It if somebody already has, it. Etc
if both of you guys are in THE, nba right

(41:31):
and you breach your point when who forfeits the?

Speaker 3 (41:38):
Nickname this is this is an interesting subject because you Got.

Speaker 2 (41:42):
Superman superman were talking About shaq and The White White.
Howard ye you know What i'm. Saying there's some hate
comes with trying to take my. Nickname but in the
case of The kenny The jet And jet you got
like for, me you got to have a. Night it's
all about the reasoning behind the. Nickname it gotta be something,
ballid Like kenny The jet is actual, Nickname Jason terry

(42:06):
like that's his his Initials, inish.

Speaker 3 (42:09):
So like Like Jason Eugene, terry like that's what like j.
E t.

Speaker 2 (42:13):
Is so it just it just flowed like it wasn't
Like i'm The, jet so he gotta he got a
ball nickname so he could come behind and and.

Speaker 3 (42:21):
Roll we have Two jets in that.

Speaker 2 (42:23):
Sense BUT i DON'T i don't, like especially in THE,
nba if it's if it's an average, reason if somebody
just calling you somebody else's nickname that's already stamped in the,
LEAGUE i don't love. IT i don't love it or
you gotta be better than. Them you can't.

Speaker 1 (42:35):
Be, yeah you gotta you gotta pass it. Off. MAN
i THINK i think in certain, situations, man you, know
like we had the Whole mellow. Conversation, right it's two different, generations,
right you Got mellow And. Carmelow their name is not,
mellow it's not singular.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
FORM a lot of people got problems with call him Love, Mellow,
mellow you know WHAT i.

Speaker 1 (42:52):
Mean so when you really think about, that who did?
More who leaned in? That they're both all, stars you
know WHAT i, mean hall of, famer he's done a
little bit more so in that situation WHEN i Hear,
mellow the first PERSON i think about, This, CARMELOT i Love.
Mello SO i think it gets it gets real. Tricky
but again we'll. SEE i don't. KNOW i think that's

(43:15):
a that's a good a good topic to discuss being
the greatest.

Speaker 3 (43:18):
Nickname i'm, Big, Yeah i'm big on you got.

Speaker 2 (43:20):
It you gotta be you gotta be clearly head and
shoulders better if you're gonna take somebody's, nickname and you
gotta be stamped like the, nickname like with the era
like the nineties was the kind of the. Era the
nickname to, me and you think of people, nickname, like
think of people and first you ain't think of their,
name think of their nickname. First you're like the glove

(43:43):
and the mail. Man you don't even need their real.
Names that's what they, are so you. Can't you can't
come in with somebody else calling them the glove and
then they're not a better defender than Gave.

Speaker 3 (43:52):
Peyton it just it should, happen all, RIGHT i got.

Speaker 1 (43:54):
One for you before we go to boyd rong. Era,
Okay Sean liveston and you share a.

Speaker 2 (44:00):
Nickname, yeah, yeah but that's the, dot, right that's that's,
Died and that's that's not for. Me that's people are
calling me down. College that's a that's Jay z. Man
that's we got. It we all got it jay z, yep,
Right SO i mean and that's part of like the actual.
Name like that's LIKE i don't Think i've ever, living

(44:23):
but it used to be weird to, me like What
i'll be in the hallways oracle back in the day
when step we was on the team With stephan around and,
Yeah Dot's, die That's.

Speaker 3 (44:34):
Die you don't. Know we sometimes we're in the same.
Room we don't know who who they're talking. To, man that's.

Speaker 2 (44:39):
Crazy Like steph called us both that That's dot And,
dot like we'll be right next to each. Other both
of us turn, like that's my, guy that's my. GUY
i call Him. Die he called Me dot when we
see each, other shouts to the. Dots all, right born
in the wrong?

Speaker 1 (44:54):
Eral who got born in the wrong.

Speaker 2 (44:57):
Era i'm gonna bring it back to my, Guy Jason,
Terry Jason, terry.

Speaker 3 (45:06):
THE i, mean it's the era he. Could he he
was a mid range, guy you know What i'm.

Speaker 2 (45:11):
Saying he would get to the pull, ups transition mid,
range if you're going, right he.

Speaker 3 (45:15):
Could he got to. It it was a guarantee.

Speaker 2 (45:16):
Bucket and he one of those guys who benefiting this
era of a lot more combo guards guards being able
to play the point without having to run the, point
you know What i'm, saying trying to run the. Show
he could play the point in his size a little
bit more and just go out there and score and
do what he. Does SO i Think Jason terry would
be a monster in this era, today shooting more threes

(45:38):
and just having that freedom to do what he. Does
he would have to mold into that's. It i'm sure
when he came out some people want him to play point,
guard but he actually stood on and told and made
a great career doing doing what he does playing the.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
Two for me MAN i mentioned, earlier he Dodew turkulu six.
Ten put the ball on the, ground spread the, floor
shoot the three, whatever finish at the, rim just a
Matchup havoc man. LIKE i just think that he would
just be thriving in this, era, like especially with more
touches the open space to really. Cook probably. Wouldn't, again

(46:12):
we already know the, results you know from A back
to the future or, whatever like as far as him
being the number one, guy but him complimenting with somebody's
a two or, three he would definitely be an all
star for. SURE i really think he would benefit playing
in this era because he would let a lot of threes.
FLY i like.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
That and he can he, Underrated he could play the
pick and roll underrated.

Speaker 2 (46:33):
Guy he could put the ball in his, hands and
he can he can run some of that, spread pick and,
roll see over the, defense pull up for, three make.
PASSES i, LIKE i like what you're thinking right there
with that bought in the wrong. Era he, Though, hey,
