Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the Greatest, a production of I Heart Radio. Hello,
and welcome to another episode of The Greatest. I Am
Megan Gaily joined by my husband told, wow, it seems
like you're interviewing me. I know, we c J and

(00:20):
I are sharing a microphone because we are able to
have our guests in person at our house in our yard. Um,
there's a surge in l A. We're not crazy, but um,
she is able to be here with us, and we
love that. You love that teaching, Yeah, because a setup

(00:41):
is easier, but also it's always nice to see another
person outside of my wonderful wife and and and this
time it's another woman. Is that exciting? It's very exciting.
It's really weird to like keep handing like I do,
feel strange interviewing him. Okay, so I usually we're making
people said on zoom, it seems even ruder having them

(01:02):
sit here in person. Um joining us today, one of
the co hosts of the new podcast That's Messed Up
and our wedding officiant. And for people who were fans
of the Bubble Machine, one of the people who would
write in questions for sports, questions from my friends that

(01:22):
don't like sports, Please welcome Karat Klay. Oh my god,
this is so great. And for those of you whoever
used to listen to our old podcast, who feels like
getting back in the saddle with my old buddy and
we used to podcast once a week together. Do we
have any are there any let's talk about texts because
I'd hear you guys talking about me, and I go,

(01:44):
I'm gonna close my ear, my ear so I can
listen to episode and here you guys talking about me.
Wait wait, but we didn't record near I mean we
recorded at a studio, recording an episode or two it.
We did a couple at your apartment, yes, because you
did one at your house, CJ, that you lived in. Yeah,
I remember we did at the tiny house. Yeah, oh

(02:04):
my god. Funny. I call my old house the tiny house.
And you know what, we drove by your old tiny
house they painted. I used to live in this bright
turquoise house that was kind of an eyesore, but I
sort of loved it. And then they just painted it
this very stair color. It's lovely, it's just not bright turquoise.
I we were like taking a like a short cut,

(02:24):
or CJ calls it a short cut, and he was like,
we're about to drive by Carrol's old house. And then
I was like, wait heah, and I knew it was right,
but yeah, I loved that. That's yeah, that was our
little high love painted. I might it's my dream to
have a pink house someday. Yeah. Now you get to
decide when I chime in. And even though I have nothing,

(02:46):
first of all, I do want to say to our listeners,
Happy New Year, Happy holidays. Here we are, we feel everyone.
I'm cautiously optimistic. Yeah, I feel I feel good. I mean,
tomorrow we're recording this Monday evening, so Tuesday will be tomorrow.

(03:07):
This is that's when it comes out. You know, there's
a big thing happening in Georgia. It is not the
Falcons blowing another historic lead. Um, it's the runoff and
so but then you know, there's obviously what we all
live in Los Angeles. There's a massive COVID surge happening
here are problems were not solved at midnight. Um, but

(03:29):
I feel like we just, even for my own self preservation,
I gotta better up. I mean, yeah, we're here. There's
nothing you can do about it but move forward. Yeah,
c J. And I started a diet today. It's not
any one like specific. I mean, Kara, you've seen us

(03:52):
eating before. Anything under that is a diet. Okay, got it.
So you're just gonna try to be mindfully cautiously away
from Taco Bell for me. Yeah, stuff like that. Our
last supper last night was Del Taco because bringing it
back to your wedding. Yeah, at Del Taco for those
of you that don't live in California, you can get

(04:14):
cheeseburgers and tacos. There. They had the Beyond. They d
have the Beyond meat, which I Taco Bell. If you're listening,
you need to get on it. Yeah, I think with
you guys. I had Del Taco Beyond. Yeah. Yeah, So
we're not we're I mean, I'm working out. I'm getting
up at seven to eight or seven or eight every

(04:35):
day and I'm gonna work out the first thing. Yeah,
and I feel I did it today and it felt
good and then I'm not thinking about it all day.
That's awesome, And that's the best way. You gotta get it.
Rise and grind and get it out of the way.
I always work out in the morning. Um, but we're
also gonna try well, no not try. We are going
to not drink and not smoke weed until CJ's birthday,

(04:57):
which is but we're just then, We're just gonna have
one day and then I'm I think I'm gonna get
right back on the sober saddle. Yeah, for the rest
of January. That's what's always we always I'm pregnant right now,
so I'm obviously not drinking. But but my husband always
tries to do sober January. But his birthday is the
day after CJ's, so we always like allow that one
day to be kind of like the day. And of

(05:20):
course I don't I have to celebrate c J. So
I can't let him do it by himself. Cheers him
with a can't cheers him with a shot of apple
cider vinegar. No no, no, no, Okay, So, Kara, we
have been really trying to get you on the pot.
I appreciate you doing some serious mental gymnastics to get
me here, because then I am just not I'm not

(05:41):
gonna say what the topic is yet because I don't
want everyone to turn off right away. Um, so I'd
like but if people are gonna like it, and it
was also requested this was not this someone like, UM
tweeted it at me and I can't gosh if it
was you tweet at me again and all the money, um,
just for forgetting Okay, No, I mean this specific idea

(06:05):
that we'll get into. Okay, But Kara, you do have
a you have played sports in your life field hockey, lacrosse. Okay,
I played teel hockey, but I got cut and I
was the captain and I actually was the second highest
scorer on my team in high school. Yeah wow, And
then did you so like we cares from Connecticut? Um,

(06:26):
for those of you that did not have lacrossing field
hockey at your high school, which was did you have?
I mean you went to an all boys school in
the Northeast. Yeah, we had. We had lacrosse, I think
as I was leaving. And now they are a big
lacrosse school. Like if you guys saw it, it is
very lacrosse vibes um type of school, all boys school
in Pennsylvania, and like, of course that feels very um lacrosse.

(06:48):
So what like were those the biggest sports in Connecticut?
They were big sports for girls like in middle school
and high in in high school, middle school and high
school and then growing up. Soccer was the big thing
when you're a kid kid Like elementary school, everybody played soccer.
I just have asthma and like could never run long
distances really and then I just hate running. So it's

(07:09):
like with lacrosse. I was pretty good at like sticks skills,
but I just likedation. I'm pretty and like I can
play softball. I can hit the ball like I'm you know,
I do have hand hand coordination, but I don't have
speed or endurance. Um, so you conna play tennis too,
because I love something. I'm started at it, but I
love it. I love watching it and I love hitting

(07:30):
the ball around. I also tried basketball because I'm tall,
but it did not work out. I was really bad
attain like I shoot with like I'm pushing somebody out
of my face, like you know, I had went through
where I probably still They just were like, we don't
your daughter seems really aggressive and we actually think context

(07:52):
were's maybe not great for her because I you know,
I what, what was that little video of the girl
guarding you showed me. Yeah, there's a great video of
a little girl who I think like her parents probably
told her, hey, you can't shoot her. Any of that,
but you can't play defense to just stand for this
one girl. And she all she does is just like

(08:13):
hover around this one girl and stairs like a dead
stare in her eye. And that's great. I mean she
gets the job done. Yeah, And like her energy is
almost like I'm going to annoy you to death. Um.
And that my brother Ryan, he was not a great
tennis player, but he would like slice it every now

(08:33):
and again and then it would just like drop and
you like like he was so annoying to play against
and he would get in your head and then you
and then he would win even if you were better
than him. Yeah, do you think you're do you think
Rosie will play sports? This is what I was making
me think of what you're saying, because Rosie is very aggressive,
like you're saying, but if DNA has anything to do

(08:53):
with it, she will not have any speed or endurance
or natural athletic ability because my husband and I are
not are neither of us are very but she's got
an athletic build even at one and a half, like
she feels if she's very physical. She's these things out
and said, you think she's going to be a sporty stoner. Wow,
I think she could be a really good volleyball player,

(09:15):
Like she is tall, and I also see myself as
her like sports surrogate guy with her and like help
her pick and I'll be like, Oh, if you don't
like this one, we can take you to do this one.
You can take her to practice, you can go to
her games. I think it's gonna be great. Now, sports Alliances.

(09:35):
You grew up in Connecticut, So what would that you
were up on the south side of the South side
of You know, me from the south side of Connecticut.
You know, I'm from the south southern part of Connecticut,
which goes with New York teams. The southern part of Connecticut,
I would say, goes with all Boston and Patriots and
stuff southern. Like my family would be occasionally like if

(09:56):
the Nicks made the playoffs, we'd watch or like the
Giant and so or not really the Jets. The Jets
always felt very Jersey, yeah, and then but they were
the New York Jets, right, But it usually goes like Jets, Mets, Islanders,
and Nick's Giants, Rangers, Okay, and so I remember that.

(10:17):
I remember like the Rangers. I remember my best friend
loves the Mets, like you know, so yeah, like I went,
I probably went to a Yankee game growing up once,
you know, and then as as an adult in New
York myself, I went to young games to like drink.
How far away is the University of Connecticut from where
I grew up. Yukon is in stores, which is over

(10:37):
an hour from from from I think, I mean they're
they're known for not but like women's basketball is huge, huge,
and yeah, and then it's weird because when I went
to college, I went to like a total like a
D three nestcack school, very small, but all my best
friends played were on the girls basketball like five of them.

(10:57):
Like I used to go to their games and be like,
I'm friends with the whole basketball team. I don't really
know why. Now, you did have a favorite NFL team
growing up? Yes, my favorite NFL team glowing up was
the Miami Dolphins because I love Dolphins. And my favorite
baseball team was the Blue Jays because I thought blue
Jays were adorable. Like That's how I picked all my teams.

(11:18):
But I told you, Megan this one year, my mom
forgot to get me a Halloween costume. I was like
in fifth grade and So we went out to some
store and they had like a Miami Dolphins sweatshirt and
pants that were like that weird green that Miami wears.
And my mom was like, you can just be the
coach of the Miami Dolphin who is iconic Don Shula.
So I was I don't know his name. I was

(11:38):
the coach of the Miami Dolphins. And I wore black
under my eyes, as if the coach ever wears I black.
That's like the Halloween costumes where it's the mask and
then a T shirt of the fingers, you know, like
I always love costumes. Um, but that's great. I mean,
my mom had six kids. I was like, you can
forget a Halloween once in a while, but Jesus and

(11:58):
coach six kids? Any siblings into sports? I gotta be honest.
We're just not a sport family. My brother Kevin wrestled
and he was pretty good. Now, my sister rode crew.
I mean, you had a sibling who went to West Point. Yeah,
that's the wrestling. So does he like to run? My
brother that's in the military doesn't really care about sports either.

(12:19):
He thinks sports is sort of like for people that
want to be in the middle like he he has
something like oh, it's a metal like football is a
metaphor for men that actually can't go into My brother
is obviously into the Army Navy game or whatever. But
besides that, like I don't really know he did he did.
All I know is that he did wrestling and he
was like pretty good because he was big. But like, yeah,
I don't know. We're really just it's okay that sid weren't. Yeah,

(12:42):
and our and our parents like we're like, oh, do
it or don't do it? Like they didn't push us.
Like my dad never once came to one of my games.
My mom would come once in a blue and I
mean she's a pediatrician and to be a student athlete
you have to get a physical, so she was seeing tons.
I mean like pediatricians are the gate key first to
the student athletes. So she had some summer camp forms.

(13:05):
Better pay those fees, baby, you ain't getting them. I mean,
maybe I associate because all the camps I went to,
like you went to sports camp and sports but then
whenever I mean like in all my experiences watching maybe
um camp on I wanna shorts and what hot and
they play activities and that. Yeah, yeah, Like I definitely

(13:25):
played games and stuff in in camp. I think it
can't buy organize all across clinic one time for like
one of my requirements when I was like a c
I T and then but I was a canoeing counselor
so if you count canoeing as a sport, I'm pretty
good at canoeing. Like now now here I had to
wait until I got the mic back. Um. Now, you

(13:46):
do have other passions, and one of those passions is
a shared passion that I also have that's c J
dabbles in, and that is Bravo Television specifically The rail
Housewives specifically, is in of the music. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah,
but he really likes some you like below deck Kill

(14:06):
dabble yea all dabble. I um yes, if something's on
on and I'm high on the couch with you, I'll
continue to sit there, which we will not be for
the next month minus January. But one of the things
that makes c J more into The Housewives is the husband's,
specifically the husbands that were or are still athletes. And

(14:30):
so this topic who was was suggested by a person
who I will venmo if they identify themselves, will give
you a shout out, or I must send you a
nud photo. I will not send you a nude photo. Um.
And so this topic was suggested and I loved it,
and I knew it was a chance to get Kara
on here. And so today we will be doing greatest
Housewife husbands who are athletes. Yes, baby, you're gonna say this.

(14:55):
You can't do this, so this doesn't feel sporty, and
I'm gonna say to you back, we have had a
Housewives ex husband who has already been on this program
as one of the greatest Los Angeles athletes. That's Marcus Allen,
who was Katherine edwards husband first husband, and then she
married another exactly Donnie Edwards. And Donnie Edwards he was

(15:18):
on the Chargers. I was thinking, I thought we had
had a husband about Derek. No, no, no no, I was
thinking Derek Fisher. But Gloria was on Um, Gloria was
on Basketball Wives. UM. So well, yes, we've had a

(15:40):
reality husband on the show who is a great and
Marcus Allen is a Hall of Famer and was married
to a housewife. And there are really really, really impressive
athletes on this list. Some of them are really bad people.
Um more so bad husband's um. And so I went

(16:03):
about picking mine people that I think I got on
the show, and we're also famous semi famous to famous athletes.
I instructed c J to pick based on if I
like them or not. No, I genuinely I looked at
the list and like the fact that you guys said

(16:23):
Marcus Allen, and I didn't see him on any of
the list, So like, I probably looked at some really
basic lists. So I think my role in this conversation
is maybe you guys bring up somebody or care especially
in like, uh, you don't know much about him, and
I could chime in with a factor two and then
I you, guys, I can bring up somebody and you
could be like, he was awful, he did this, and
like so because I feel like I read a little

(16:45):
bit of those threas, but I almost like stopped because
I want you guys to fill in those blanks. I
just want to clarify Marcus Allen would not have been
on any of those lists because when Catherine was on
the show, they were not married at the time, and
that does make it complicated. There are ex husbands of
of people, so like, for example, I didn't watch Porshaus

(17:06):
season when she was married to Cordell. But I know
that Cordell is an athlete exactly, and a very very
famous one at that. Okay, So, Kara, as our guest,
we would like you to go first. We go in
descending right, we started three and then so I'll tell
you my least your number three. Okay, listen, I think

(17:28):
that you're gonna get mad at me, and I'm just
going to dive into this one. I hate myself for
saying this, but and because I know they are bad people,
but I am entertained by the Beerman family, and I
think that Kroy like is a good dad, and so
I and I really liked that he married this woman

(17:50):
that had two children from different husbands and took them
in like they were his own and then had four
questionably for some reason, had four children with her of
his own. Now they have six kids, and I don't know,
I feel like he's trying to keep it all together. Um,
I know you hate that. No together. They have Krey Jagger,
kJ Cashcade, Kaya Rose, and Kane Wren in addition to
Arian and Briel, and yes, does Kim Zolciak face tune

(18:12):
her five year old daughter's face. Yeah she does, so
what she's hit terrible? What are we talking about him? No?
I think Krey is a I don't want to say,
lovely person. They met when he was on the Atlanta
Falkons and he was doing dancing with the Atlanta Stars.
It was like a charity thing. Yeah, and he's hot

(18:36):
in a way that some women think of, like I'm
not really into like blonder, you know his like his
hair and skin are kind of the same into. Yeah.
I saw a picture of them and I thought they
were maybe related. Like well, at some point she got
him to do lip plumper, you know, like they've started

(18:57):
visiting say the same l if you know what I mean. Um, So,
I honestly do not think that Kroy played a down
of football after him and Kim got together. Really yeah,
because even on so like she was on Raj'swives Atlanta
at the time and then left and then was on
Don't be Tardy. He wasn't playing, but there was all

(19:19):
this stuff like we're just waiting to find out if
Krey gets traded and we might have to move and
then and then he did it. Then he just didn't
play ever again, And thought he got a contract, But
was he on teams but just never playing. I don't
even think, well, you know, sometimes you can also be
on a team. This is like what happens in Bachelor
Land a lot too, even the Bachelor that's premiering tonight.

(19:41):
He was on the Saints quote unquote, but he never
played for the Saints and went to mini camp. So
Kroy did play for the Falcons, was on the Falcons,
not practice squad, Falcons like seventy five man roster or whatever.
But then after I think it was like he was
getting offers to go the training camp for teams, but
I don't think he ever made a team ever again,

(20:04):
got it? Yeah, I mean I didn't. The thing is,
I don't even really know this guy. Was he a
big deal? No, he was a defensive end. Um a
white defensive end. Well, I specified that defensive ends are
famously black. I mean, my favorite, my favorite player, Dwite
Freeny is a defensive end, which is a different obscure.

(20:26):
But like, no, I guess there's white defensive ends J J. Watt.
But it is weird that I don't know anybody in sports,
but I'm like, I know who Reggie Miller is sports figures.
He was not famous, but he was, Like I don't
think he was a starter at any point, but I

(20:47):
do think he played for the Falcons. So that's what's
interesting about these selections and like lists that I've been seeing,
as like there is no I guess there are a
couple like huge superstars, but like, and I don't want
to spoil any of the names that we're gonna say,
but like when you're like, oh, this person is married
to that person and they're on the show, a bunch

(21:08):
of like of course, like they're kind of like trying
to get a little bit of relevancy themselves. Oh yeah,
the sports guys I want. Yeah, Like I'm sure it's
like any It's like it's the way that they call
it lily patting when I go onto the show, because
they kind of know their marriage is like crumbling and
they need something to like, I bet you a bunch
of these guys are like I'm not I'm barely playing
I'm my sports careers, Like I'm not going to coach probably,

(21:29):
Like but funk, if my wife and I can get
paid thousands of dollars to appear at Mohegan's son, we
might as well do that. I think the reason Croyd
didn't play anymore because he met Kim and was then
on this show. Like I think he's not you know,
he was probably making low four or five million for
multi year deals, but I think don't be already probably

(21:50):
paid him more than football dead, and so I think
that's I think he was sort of like hedging his bets,
but then also being like, well, I'm not gonna go
be a third string defense to bend for the Raiders
when my family's here and I can make six to
seven figures being on TV and not getting brain injured.
I think it's partially because he wasn't great at football,

(22:11):
but I think it's more because he married a woman
who is in the public eye. Do you think any
of those little KKK boys are going to be in
this I think she wants kJ to be Kate. She
really seems to love kJ in a way more than
the other children. He's like the second boy of hers.
I think he's the first one. Yeah, because he's core
j Yes. Yeah, what you said KKK boys, there's three

(22:34):
Kye and the rule is k too. Okay, so that's
four children. Yeah, then real and Ariana okay um and
when Karan Can met, they were both speaking to their parents,
and now neither one of them speak to their parents either. No,
maybe they're back there. I don't know. That's a great

(22:55):
first pick. They are of the worst people that we
could mention their not I don't. Yeah, like I feel
like he hasn't hurt anybody. Yeah, I think he's he's
like from Montana. I think he's just like kind of
for Wyoming or Um, you want to go, Yeah, I'll go,
because you guys will probably take some online. I'm all,

(23:15):
I'm very worried. I'm not gonna have do more. No,
it's okay. We overlap all the time, and we'll just
spend a little bit more time if we haven't overlapped. Um,
I'm gonna go. And and yeah, this is the person
who I was like, oh, maybe I should stop reading.
But Porsche and Cordell Stewart just because I mean, Cordell
was like one of the coolest football players to me
growing up. Um play for the Steelers, so like and

(23:38):
I grew up outside. Yeah, um, and he was like
one of the first like mobile black quarterbacks. Yeah, so
that's what I mean. Tell me, like what happened here? Yeah,
because I don't know what happened in their relationship. He
was yes, um even it was like, well, can you

(24:00):
know that you don't have to you don't have to
feel bad. That's a rumor that is like you know,
there are CJ and we're talking about this yesterday. There
are rumors of famous athletes that I believe to be
gay because I have insight intel and it's not fair
for me to out them in that way. I don't
want to do that. But there are lots of rumors

(24:20):
and and blogs and gossip that that Porsche was Cordell's
beard for sure. Um so they were only married for
two years and Porsche lived in Atlanta the whole time.
Cordell had a home in Atlanta. I don't know if
he's from Atlanta. But it was a very toxic relationship.

(24:41):
She had a miscarriage at some point during it. He
was like not supportive. I mean, it's interesting because like
Cordel Stewart, the football player I only know as like badass,
amazing cool, Yeah, like a black quarterback before black quarterbacks
existed as much as they do. But then Cordel Stewart,

(25:02):
the husband of Porsche. You go, but also at the
time Porsche sucked, you know, like Porsche was a different person.
This is a the for those of you that don't
watch the show. Her grandfather is a famous civil rights leader,
and she thought the underground railroad was an actual railroad somewhere. Um.
She now has been arrested twice protesting for like justice

(25:23):
were on the I mean, you know, she she's now
walking the walk, But at the time that her and
Cordel were married, she also was like annoying and kind
of dumb and very like green feeling in the world. No,
you can't put up on the microphone, but it's very

(25:44):
this is yeah, very enlightening. And can I ask another
like a general question, do a lot of these housewives
they marry these guys like after their playing career. It
kind of depends, Um, Like Cordel and Porsche, I think
he had retired at that point, and he had had
a relationship before because he had a child already. But

(26:07):
then there are people on no I mean, there's people
on my list that have been together since they were young,
and then there's people on my list that just got together.
So it kind of varies. I also think kind of
depends on like the place like Atlanta Potomac, which is

(26:27):
sort of where most of the athletes come from, at
least the ones that like I care about, they seem
to have been together longer. Orange County, Beverly Hills, those
feel like they married them after they played. If that's
a generalization. Okay, So my number three who I'm gonna
just say who it is. It's Chris Samuel's um so.

(26:50):
Who is Monique Samuel's husband of Real Housewives of Potomac.
She since has quit, She's not going to be on
next season. Chris was a very very successful left tackle
for the Washington football team. He was a six time
Pro Bowler, so that is a big deal. He was good.
He still coaches, he's still a part of the organization,

(27:12):
and I think he's very much like beloved within that market.
It's not a great organization because it's owned by kind
of one of the most hated men in sports. Probably
he coaches within the Washington and football I think he does. Yeah,
I think he helps. And he is from Mississippi. He's
from someplace like down Home, and he's in like the

(27:33):
Mississippi Hall of Fame. That was like an episode they
went back. He is like everywhere he's been, he has
been the guy and he's probably one of the most
successful athletes that we've seen on the show. But he's
a left tackle. That's like the least sexy position you
can play in football, you like protect the quarterback. So

(27:55):
it's not that like cool um. But I think they
got married after his playing career, I'm pretty sure, or
like towards the end of it. Yeah. I just liked
him because I think I was watching one of the
is it called the after show or like watch what
Happened the reunion reunion and where they all talk about memories.
I feel like when we're watching, he was just like

(28:16):
sit in the back like they may sit behind, which
is so funny to me, and they just they just
cut to their reactions. Is like like it was kind
of just like but he was just very much just
like in the background being like this is crazy. Tell
me if I'm wrong. Was there a part where like
they were hanging out at craft Services? Yeah? I mean, okay,
So his big on the show is big boy. He's
obviously huge um and he does not like that, I know,

(28:40):
which is crazy. It's like Monique, he is giant, like
keep calling my husband I know, um, but he was
an integral part of the show this year, so that's
mainly why he's on the list, is like he was
a plot on the show, UM and him being cheated on,
and he I don't always like the away he talks

(29:00):
about Monique and treats Monique. I think he's not someone
that I would want to be married to, but I
do think he loves her and rides really hard for her. Yeah. Well,
and he thought that his paternity was being questioned, Yeah,
and was very angry about they were trying to say
that his latest it's very convoluted because it didn't even

(29:24):
actually make it on the show. He's like a bunch
of women had dinner and off camera spoke about the
rumor they had heard that his youngest child was from
her having an affair, and they brought it up on
the reunion even though it had never been on television,
and it was like, really wild, I don't really well listen.
He it's like an organization too that doesn't have like
you know, like he's a he's a recent Washington football

(29:48):
retiree and they were like not good for a while.
So it's like he's celebrated and kind of like a
in an era and a team that doesn't have a
lot going for it. So do you think that, like
with her off a show, like he's going to be
able to keep like providing her with like I don't
even know if she has a lavish lifestyle. They have
like a country house in Maryland, Like, do you think

(30:10):
that like he'll be able to keep they'll be still rich.
The way that she says said it on the reunion
is that he has made very very smart investments and
is still coaching, and they'll be fine because I think
he made um, like thirty million a year, not a year.
I think he made thirty thirty to forty million in
the span of his career. Um, So hopefully they can

(30:32):
live off that in their five homes. But she does
talk about that along. All right, should take a break
and we are back, all right, Kara, kick us off
with your number two. I don't know that much about
this person, but I remember when I first started watching

(30:53):
The Real Housewives of Atlanta, I did like Lisa Wu.
He was married to this guy at heartwell who um
it was an NFL player, And I remember once they
were having sex and her hernuva ring flew out, and
I was like, I didn't know that could happen. It
was like across the room. They showed it on the show,
and I was like, how did they How did that happen? Anyway,

(31:14):
they always stuck in my mind for that reason. And
then I was reading about him today and they got
divorced after It's perfect that what seemed like a perfect
marriage on this first two seasons of the show, and
then he briefly married Rudy from The Cosby Show. They
got married and divorced within months. Ed No, I always
loved ed and Lisa. They were like, she had like

(31:34):
a really hot body, and they seemed really hot for
each other, and I can like, yet they were very
sexual at each other. I can still like watch her
walking into their pool. That's really like stuck in my mind.
He played He was drafted by the Ravens and then
played for the Falcons, the Bengals, the Raiders, and then
a team called the Las Vegas Locomotives, which I mean,

(31:56):
it's I it's not Arena because he wouldn't have played Arena,
but it's like the minor No, I don't even I
don't even know. It's just like not the NFL. I'd
love to know more about it. Has a wine of that.
She has the vague she his mom has so many,
but not the Las Vegas locomotives c J. He's like,

(32:18):
I don't know sports, but I know that's not an
NFL team. Yeah, it's definitely an arena team or a team,
a football team in a movie. I don't Yeah, I
don't even know this guy. Oh Ed was hot. I
was into Ed. I think he was. He was a
linebacker and yeah, I mean did they say um, did

(32:40):
they say fumble at all? No? Incomplete passed? I don't know.
I mean, I don't know what happened. But I remember
them showing the New b Ring and I was like,
this show is wild because it was like a new season.
It was new. He um threw, he threw a coach's
challenge when it had been Yeah, he's him and Rudy

(33:02):
getting married for like a few months. What the hell? Okay,
So when he played for the Bengals and Raiders, it
was practice squad only, so that is and I mean,
his career stats are pretty impressive. He had four hundred tackles,
seven sacks, five force fumbles, one interception, I mean five
force fumbles. Is that's that's something I'm okay, Oh yeah, Lisa, okay.

(33:26):
And then it was a Kesha Knight pollum pollum. Wow.
Oh and they had a child. Maybe that's why they
got married. Wow. Yeah. I just wonder, I mean just thinking,
because I don't even think they were together for nine months,
So I don't think that they got married and then
planned a family together. Wow. I mean, it's just Wikipedia's wild.
It just has like how much he has to pay

(33:47):
her in child support on here? Um, but it is
three thousand a month. That seems wow. But I don't
know that the baby was born in and I hope
she's doing well, and I hope Ed is doing well.
He's um, he was born and raised in Las Vegas.
That's nice. Went to Western Illinois, which is like kind
of a football powerhouse to some extent. Um. Okay, c
do you want to give us your number two? My

(34:08):
number two? And I love talking about these two. Uh
kind of a classic number two Scottie Pip. Yeah, And
now so one tell me what season this was? This
was early okay, So Larsa was on season one of
Real Housewives of Miami, which I really only had the
time I got out, So she got fired, um because

(34:33):
her Scotty were boring, you know, like I don't think
she wanted to put it out there. Well, that's what
she's like now, everybody says when she talks about her
Kardashian drama, she talks in circles. She goes, you know,
if people are gonna come out and say this and that,
and then you know things are gonna come to a
head about you know, with this happening and then that happening.
It's like you're not saying any words, like you're not
getting any information. You're just saying a bunch of words

(34:56):
that like that sound like conversation, Like she I don't
think gives made for reality to me, because you've got
to be able to you don't have to bear at all,
but you got to know what you can kind of
siphon out a little bit. Well, so are you familiar
with what's going on now with her? Okay, So I
listened to this podcast. It's about kind of like, uh,
celebrities that are not famous, and she's one of them,

(35:18):
and they were talking about her and the Kardashians and
Kanye and like her and Kanye have a weird thing,
and then you guys told me about something she was
hitting on a little brawny well, so that was like
the second part. And I don't really want to fuel
any of those talks because I just it was just insane. Like,
but there was a basketball player for the Timberwolves, Malik Beasley.
He's he's married and then had it was cheating on

(35:41):
his current life with someone else. And then also um
with Larsa Piant So she was his side side piece,
I think so. And he's young, so yes, like that
was the first thing. And then and then that got
her back in the news or whatever, and her son,
Scottie Pippen Jr. Was like tweeting about like liking tweets

(36:03):
about this is messed up about that that his mom
keeps doing this to him, and like he was liking
all those tweets. Um, and then the Bonnie stuff happened,
which I guess I'll just say, like I think it
was messed up, Like he liked a picture of her,
and then a journalist ran with that and being like, oh,
like why is Brownie she also is who brought she

(36:26):
was dating or seeing Tristan Um and brought him to
uh birthday party and that's what Chloe met him. Yeah,
and then she's like, I don't care, It's okay, And
it's like, I mean, that's not how I would feel.
Like that's what she She almost edits herself to a
detriment to herself. It's like, you have every reason to
be annoyed that you. I mean, I don't know why

(36:48):
you were dating this twenty three year old who's like
he was. Tristan at that time was not mature. I
mean he was. He was too immature for Chloe, let
alone Larsa who is a mother of three or four
and much much. And I don't care, Like I just
think Tristan was a very young twenty three year old.
I don't know what she can be with whoever he wants.

(37:10):
But like Chloe even had issues with his maturity. So
I'm like, listen, I don't know what you were. She
just I mean, she is hot, she still looks great.
And I would say, like, I don't know who any
of these guys are before they go on the Housewives.
Scottie Pippen, you know who he is. I have the
most famous house husband on of any of the franchise,
Scotty was I asked him a correspondent in the field,

(37:31):
Julia Olsen, because I only dabbled in the Housewives in
Miami and she was like, oh no, Scotty was definitely
on it. He was mostly just walking around the house
like there wasn't just like but like he's a list
for housew So like that's a get so even if
it's just him shuffling and slippers in the background, You're like, yeah,
shuffle and slippers in the background. Her last name is Pippen.

(37:52):
But for her to get fired after one season with
that famous last name crazy, you gotta be really willing
to not play it's it is crazy. And he was supportive.
He wanted her and not in a Kelsey grammar you
should go on the showsho I can cheat on you
and bed to play in New York. He was. He
was supportive of her, like having this endeavor or why
did they get divorced? Well, they separated and then reconciled

(38:17):
in like a year or two ago, and then now
have separated again. I mean, I don't you know, I
think they got together after his playing dates. Yeah, I
think that makes sense because you know, he famously had
sex with Madonna and she wouldn't have sex with like Madonna.
I mean, this is not famously, this is just like

(38:39):
the story Madonna and Scotty had a sexual like uh,
you know relations show that the only basketball player knew
about with Madonna was Dennis Rodman and um and Michael
Jordan's was like, why Scotty, But apparently Scotty has like
the biggest penis on earth. Wow, So good for him,
Good for him? Um okay, c J great second pick.

(39:01):
My second pick is Jim Edmunds, who are so wrong
I know, okay, but listen, Jim, you're wrong for that.
Jim Jim Edmonds Um was on Housewives Orange County. I
also wanted to get some other cities in there. He
was married no longer to Megan King Edmunds, and he

(39:24):
was a very good baseball player, a St. Louis Cardinals legend,
like is so beloved. I think that's probably why Andy
like let his wife on the show, because he loves
the Cardinals so much. Him with the Score Brothers when
they were on. Probably I only know him as a
house husband and he was a dick. Yes, okay, so

(39:46):
but I have him on this list because he was
integral in the show. I mean talk to me in
five years, Jim. Is a classic quote that Vicky Gumbolton
said to Jim about him a never getting divorced, from
which he did. It was like almost to the day
that she was able to nail because Jim has had many,

(40:07):
many wives. I think Megan was his third or fourth wife.
His wife before that passed away. They were divorced. But yeah, um,
but he so he was good on the show. He
was a dick. But they are the gift that keeps
on giving. I mean, she has not been on the
show for years, and they are on reality blurb, like

(40:28):
reality tea, like they are on every blog all the
time because they are divorced and they fucking hate each other.
I mean, would you could like tell that that was
the vibe with them. I mean she was goading him
into ivf like he did not want to have a
kid at all. And his candle business what what was

(40:51):
that he got started a looking candle bit. I love it.
That's That's why I need to watch the show because
again it is post playing careers and you get to
see these husbands try to find themselves. Yeah, and I
think like a branding person goes to them and goes, listen,
you're on the show. Now you've got kind of a
big platform. I saw you've got X amount of Instagram followers.

(41:11):
What do you like? Let's make it. And Jim Edmonds
is like the candles like, I don't well because Jim
Edmonds has a broadcast career, like he's so bluff and
there's so many baseball games that like, he's on Fox
Sports to the equivalent or more so than Mike Hill.
Chilla's like, I didn't know Mike Hill is I'm guessing

(41:32):
a former athlete, but maybe he's not. And he is
now Cynthia Bailey's new husband, and he is on Fox Sports.
And when they first started dating, it was like, oh,
I'm marrying the sports broadcaster. And everyone was texting me like,
oh my god, who's this Mike Hill guy? Was like,
I have no fing and this is a guy and
you were like, I've never seen him. Yeah, I thought
I thought he was in a bost And I've seen

(41:54):
a lot of these people at least they've like my
eyes have even like and if Network people are lesser
known than Fox Sports people, and I know who they are,
so I'm like, I don't know, but then I did
see him recently and I was happy. Um, but Jim
Edmonds and Megan they really hate each other and it's
been they're both not likable, So it's fine, Like them

(42:17):
hating each other doesn't even make me sad, Like it
just says, like, you car, you two are so insane
and no one would care if they weren't the ones
selling the stories to these blocks. Like it's clearly Megan
and Jim doing it, or one of them doing it,
one of them like having to retaliate that if they
just got divorced and hated each other this much but

(42:39):
didn't sell stories, we would have no idea and he
wouldn't be on this list for me. But they've kept
it relevant and I just I mean his like weird
looking faces, and there's you know, there's a lot of
there's a lot of rumors about Jim Edmund's. I mean,
there's right, it's about him. There's a lot going on,
and I do think that he made for a great

(43:02):
Housewives husband, scandal wise, and so I appreciate that from him. Okay, Um,
let's take a quick break and then we will be
back with our number one picks. Okay, and we are back,

(43:22):
c J. Do you want to give us? Well, okay,
that's same number one. Okay, here's that. Well, first of all,
Kara as our guests, you will pick last and you'll
bring us home. Now, feel free to speak up if
you guys chose this, and we'll just talk about him

(43:42):
for a long time. But if my number one is
said right now, I should tell you. Yeah. Okay, So
Robin and Wan Dixon one. And this is for me.
This was like all keep watching Potomac is my favorite.
I also just think that the cast is that I'm
attracted to them the most. Robin. I think I'm the

(44:04):
most attracted to of all the housewives. Uh. And so
I'm constantly asking Megan, like, what's going on with Robin
and embellished hat for his birthday? That's her brand. She
makes hats um that have a silk lining on the
inside so that they don't I don't want that, um.
I won't mess with my wig because okay, yeah, so

(44:29):
I'll give my reasons. Uh one. Yeah, Robin I already
was like I liked her the most, but Jan Dixon,
like I watched him in college. He won Maryland their
first n c A championship Basketball and then he got
drafted by the Wizards and played with Jordan's for a year,
and so like every like and this was this is
the worst, this is the worst team around Michael Jordan's

(44:51):
and like Michael Jordan was also like he wasn't washed,
but it which just wasn't Michael Jordan's. And so I
just was like forcing myself to just watch these games,
and I'm like learning one Dixon stat lines and it's
just like, Okay, you only played for I think six years,
but I recently bought his jersey. But yeah, and so
I I read a little bit, and maybe you guys

(45:12):
can talk more about this, but I think they're like
known they were. They split, right, and then they continue
to live together and like we're kind of like really
good co parents. So the story is even more beautiful
than that. Um, they met in high school and at
that time, once she's like a little bit older than him, right, yeah,
she's one year older. I think she was seventeen and

(45:33):
he was sixteen. Right before they met, Juan's father had died. Um,
and so then they were together all through college. One
was a college star, I mean a major major school
at Maryland Go Turps and so that's why when this
whole thing was when it when it was like, oh,
everyone's jealous of Monique. This was a storyline. Everyone was

(45:53):
jealous of Monique. I'm like, listen, One and Robin have
had financial troubles and have gone through a lot. One
Dixon is fucking famous and Chris Samuel's is not famous,
like he played with Michael Jordan's and there's I mean,
he's he's just a he's a star. He was a
star and Chris is not a star. So like maybe
everyone else was jells. I don't think Robin was jealous. Um,

(46:16):
So they met his father past, he goes to Maryland.
He's a major star. They win, and then they find
out afterwards that his actual biological father is still living.
They reconnect with him. Then Robin and Juan had money.
They invested money with their best friend who was actually

(46:36):
embezzling it and stealing from them. When it came out
the best friend killed himself. Um, they used to medium
to communicate with him and he is sorry, says the medium. Um.
At some point during all of this, Robin and Juan
also got divorced. He was I think pretty ugly. I
think there was a lot of infidelity and a lot

(46:57):
of like pain, and then they did stay living to
other two parents, their two children. The boys didn't even
know they were divorced until like the first season of
Potomac because they were kids and like the internet, and
we have watched them be together and go through this.
Robin had tax issues. They've been having to like rebuild

(47:17):
their finances and their trust, and then the season finale
of Potomac this year, they got re engaged. People say
it's not real, but I like to believe it is.
I like to believe it is. They seem really cute
together and they're just such a beautiful couple. And yeah,
I mean they like went to therapy and talked about
the reason why they got divorced was because like she

(47:37):
threw herself like fully into being a mom, and like,
you know, he was like, well I had to look
for attention elsewhere because you were giving it all to
our sons. It's like, which, you know, it's not. It's
not like he was realizing. You know. They worked through
it and talked about it, and I just think that
they're really cool. Oh. I think they're an amazing couple.
They're so good looking. One as a coach now and

(48:01):
Robin is flipping houses and selling him for dates dressed
as different people. She mostly dresses us someone different and
they like pretend to be different people. They did that
on one of their on the episodes. It was so funny.
So that was my number one. That was obviously Karra's
number one, So I mean it's kind of one is
the inspiration for this episode. We just all love one

(48:21):
and want to be with one if we can't be
with our own hus if we can't be with our
own husbands. But also you gotta one. Dixon Wizard's jersey
also just imagined Umka having to choose between Jared and
war But since I do want to any caustic oneliners,

(48:42):
um I do want to make sure we point out
some of the worst house husbands before we go. I
have to that. I think, are they really take the cake?
One is Matt Keo. I didn't watch those seasons by okay,
he was a baseball player. Here was a baseball player.
He was married to Gina Ko, who is in a
Original Housewife Orange County o G and Matt was a

(49:06):
very successful major league pitcher. His career actually ended because
he got hit in the head with a ball, and
his behavior on the show makes it seem like he
did get hit in the head with him all. He's
like mean, violent, I think to some extent, slamming doors,
hates his wife, doesn't seem to want to be around
his children. His oldest son was also like a baseball

(49:30):
standout and was like a dick, just like a gross.
When I've seen old episodes, I'm like, like, the mom
goes to watch him at a game and he's like,
why are you here such an asshole? Yeah, So they
are now divorced, and then another one not good. Bob
Whitfield was gonna say that. If you didn't say that,
I was gonna say it. Bob Whitfield is Shere Whitfield

(49:52):
X from Real Housewives of Atlanta and also a Falcons player.
They got married after his playing days. I have to
imagine that some of his behavior is influenced by him
having ct E because he is also violent, mean. He
was like a major part of one season because they
were going to get back together, and then the relationship

(50:16):
was so bad and dark that like by the end
of it it was like, no, actually, do not get
back together with this man, and um, it made me
care for Charay in a way that I never had before.
Sheari is also so hot, and we had never seen
him before. And then when we saw him, it was like, oh,
he definitely looks like he's been smashed around. Yeah something.

(50:39):
It truly looks like one of his eyeballs has been hit,
like to the other side. And say, is just I
mean gorgeous and a perfect body, and it just seems
shocking that he was cheating on her and disappearing and
not caring for their children. Um, I'm looking at my list. Um, yeah,
I agree with you. Is it so? I was just

(50:59):
thinking about the different franchises that have never had an
athlete husband. New York has never had an athlete huse, Well,
Mario was a tennis pro New Jersey. No, No, And
you know because like Eric Snow was on the first
season of Real Housewives Atlanta and I think he was

(51:20):
playing you know, he's playing for the Calves at that point.
But they're I mean, like nets players could have been
on a lot of athletes, I feel like moved to
New Jersey after they're playing careers. But the issue with
the Housewives and New Jersey, we've just gotten that family.
So like we've gotten two families, flies and everything in
branches out from and they're more mob Yeah that's their Yeah,

(51:45):
but we had all the guys are jacked but short.
They all probably could like they can lift, but they're
like they can't play sports. But um, we were saying
this before we got on here. Real Housewives of Cheshire
seems to have a lot of footballers and that I mean,
it seems like their cast is mostly football wives. And
then I think on Melbourne there was a woman whose

(52:05):
husbands of Melbourne, there was a woman whose husband was
this athlete of something and then she she was trying
to get out from his shadow. I think, but we'd
love to get more like I would love to get
a tennis wife, a race car wife, like some of
these sports where the men maybe haven't Beverly Hills besides
Katherine Edwards like really hasn't had any either. Eileen's husband

(52:27):
maybe it was like a tennis player but more just
like a rich kid. But yeah, no, it's a lot
of like Chris Kardashian, who's not a housewife but as
a reality person, was obviously married to Caitlin General of
former athlete Athletic New York should definitely be able to
do it. There's a lot of athletes that like retire
to New York. I mean, I don't could we get like,

(52:50):
does Kyrie have a wife? Does Katie have a wife? Ship? Um? Does? Um?
I don't even like does Sam Darnold have a wife? No?
I think she. I think he does. Oh, I don't know,
but yeah, that's it's It's like, I don't know who would.
New York just doesn't they want society, And I don't
think athletes wives their society. There their society literally everywhere else,

(53:13):
but in New York maybe not so much. Well, I
like city. We have a coach and he was a
former player. I told you one time I went to
a casino in Massachusetts called Foxwoods, and my friend was
with me, and she used to work at a school
and she was ran into her student who was engaged
to Big Baby and Big Baby and and Big Baby's

(53:37):
girlfriend at the time. Then wife invited us to the
v I P where I met Rondo and I'm a
bunch of other guys that I was talking to their
wives and I know nothing about sports. I know nothing
about the Celtics. I'm talking to the wives and I
go also like where do you live? And they're like Waltham,
like telling me where they live. And I'm like what
do you do? And they're like, he's on the Celtics.

(54:00):
It was like, yeah, I don't know why. I'm like
trying to have small talk with these basketball wives, but
I have nothing into the show where we just put
a famous like those are big basketball players like Rondo
just won a championship, um, and yeah, but you interact
interacting with him and so this was like a while ago.
I mean this is probably seven or eight years ago,
but it was. And whenever you bring up Foxwood, do

(54:21):
you know what I tell you? I went there to
see Damon Wayaine's performed with my Filipino aunt and she
was on into it and he phoned it in. But
I was happy to see it. Da did you you
just got two tickets or like you were too young
and your aunt needed to take you. There was a
big one. We used to go to Boston for Thanksgiving

(54:42):
every year, Like it became a thing where I was
bored out of my mind, and like I got was
getting into comedy and the like I looked up like
comedy clubs whatever, and so like I was like, oh,
Damon Waynes is there and my whole family was like,
we loved to gamble, so like we went and then
me and my my aunt didn't gamble, so we went
and saw it and like, yeah, these st our real
phoning it in at casino. I went the same weekend

(55:04):
that I hung out with all those Celtics, Mariah Carey
was playing and these old ladies were next to me
doing slots, and I go, She's two hours late, Like
they were just playing slots waiting to hear that she
was starting. Wow. I opened for Joel McHale at a
casino and he neither one of us phoned it in,
but there was a snowstorm, so the audience was phoning
it in. And then I got stuck there for the
next three days and everyone that had been at the

(55:25):
show was like Megan, because I didn't have any clothes,
so I was wearing what I had worn on the
like it was like I was a cartoon character that
