Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Minnesota Vikings have officially ended rookie sensation JJ McCarthy's
season after they put him on injured reserve. There was
slight hope in multiple scenarios. The first scenario was maybe
it'll just be a trim. But we all knew, or
(00:22):
those that had a realistic mindset understood that a trim
would be a short term fix for a long term problem.
And you have a twenty one year old quarterback in
the room, and it just makes absolutely zero's sense to
pursue that trim. A repair made all sense in the world.
(00:45):
You got Sam Donald as the bridge quarterback. It's not
week ten or week eleven in the Minnesota Vikings are
starting JJ McCarthy and you try to get him back
for a playoff run.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
That was not the scenario.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
And that's the only scenario where you possibly think about
a trim in that situation. And then he got the repair,
and multiple people were talking about four to six months. Well,
if it's four months, he could come back at the
end of the season. Pro Football Talks mart Mike florio
(01:19):
uh reported and cited that the Minnesota Vikings had yet
to put JJ McCarthy on the injured reserve list, which
meant the possibility of him coming back.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
Late in the season.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Darren Wolson from Score North said the exact same thing,
or something very similar to that, but that made no
sense whatsoever. The Minnesota Vikings officially put JJ McCarthy on
the injured reserve list, ending his twenty twenty four to
twenty five season. And you know, it's crazy to think
(01:52):
about what's all going to take place before JJ McCarthy
play an NFL snap. It's gonna be year twenty twenty five.
Another team's gonna be crowned a Super Bowl champion, The
four Majors are gonna be played in golf before JJ
(02:14):
McCarthy plays another snap. There's gonna be a Masters champion,
a PGA champion, a US Open Champion, and the British
Open Open Championship champion. An NBA Finals team is going
to be decided next year. The NBA NHL are gonna
(02:35):
play eighty two games. When you run through all of
these scenarios or things that are gonna happen before JJ
McCarthy plays an NFL snap, it seems like it's gonna
be forever.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
And I don't know how it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
Take a toll on guys that get injured in training camp,
because you get so hyped up for the NFL season,
at least for the weeks building up to the NFL season,
that fans are hyped, the team is hyped, the head
coaches and general managers think that they got something even
if they don't. You know, leading up to the NFL season,
(03:11):
every single team in the NFL, for the most part,
besides a couple of outliers, think that they have a
chance to make some noise and do some damage in
the NFL. Well, then the first two weeks come, they
start all and two and then you talk about tanks already.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
But for the players that.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Get injured in training camp or in OTAs or in preseason,
it has to be so deflating because you work so
hard in the offseason, you do all of these different
things to get your body and mind right, and then
you're just out for the entire year. And it's a
long NFL season. The super Bowl's not dull February. You're
(03:49):
just out the entire year. Your toy acl, your rupture,
your achilles, or you need a meniscus repair.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
So it's you know, the NFL life.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
You're famous. It seems so glamorous, but man, there are
some tough, tough times for professional athletes, and you know,
they don't need me feeling bad from you. Guys don't
need me feeling bad for them either. But you know,
it's a job and this is their livelihood and they're
still getting paid, so good for them.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
But man, this is tough. I just think about you know,
you get so.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
Excited you finished the season, whether in the playoffs, whether
it's a super Bowl, whether you miss the playoffs, whatever,
and then you're all you're thinking about that next season,
and then you do something wrong on the field, You
bend the wrong way, you may you collide with the
wrong teammates or defender, and.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
You're just out for the entire year. So I just
think that sucks. But Jaj McCarthy's out.
Speaker 1 (04:51):
He was never going to play this season after the
repair happened, because the repair was the only possibility. It
was never going to be a trim, and he was
never going to come back late in the season after
the repair happened, because you're not going to play your
rookie quarterback who wasn't going to start the season anyway,
(05:13):
and you're not gonna play him even if Sam Donald
got injured late in this season because he had no
reps in training camp after he got injured, I missed
preseason game number two, preseason game number three, missed all
season of practice reps with the twos, with the ones, whatever.
And the Minnesota Vikings organization has been so careful on.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Slowly bringing J. J. McCarthy along.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
They set expectations to make sure he met those expectations.
They had lofty goals for him to be a starter.
You know, they didn't just name him the starter right away.
Sam Donald was always going to be the guy week one.
So he'll just be interesting to see.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
How his recovery goes. I'm sure we're going to see
over and over and over again.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
The reports that he's way ahead of schedule, that he's
doing so well because they're not going to float any
reports out there that are negative.
Speaker 2 (06:08):
So I'm sure that's what we can expect moving forward.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
Before I dive into the next topic, remember this podcast
is brought to you by Hokeland Farm. Contact Hopeland Farm
at nine five two four one five four one and
get great rotiction link grades one grass fed Beef. I
just put in my quarter order last week to Hokeland
Farm and I am excited to get Chuck Ross steaks,
(06:35):
ground beef and more. I mean, you go to the
store we went to all the other day and it
was six dollars and like nineteen cents for one pound
of ground beef that was grass fed. Well, this is
way cheaper at Hopland Farm. Hokeland Farm has beef for
(06:56):
about three to four dollars a pound, so it's way
cheaper at better and the source is amazing. So contact
Tokland Farm and get twenty percent off your first order
by mentioning the Minnesota Tim podcast nine five two four
nine one five four to one. So this is a
story that came across my feed the other day and
I had to respond with a quote tweet to it,
(07:19):
and the libs of TikTok posted this on Twitter. I'll
share my screen with you. Give me one second. Here
we go, and I just want to share my post
as a video of libs of TikTok saying pro Palestine
protesters just blocked the four h five freeway in LA
blocking traffic and one of the most congested cities in
the US to free Palestine first, what idiots? Okay, that's
(07:46):
number one and I don't know if you can read
my tweet here, but my tweet says, so if you
don't know much about me, I have this anxiety of
pooping my pants in the car. Back in fifth grade,
I got my braces on. I went trucking with my
dad for the week because he's an over the road
truck driver. I had three large strawberry shakes from Arby's.
(08:10):
I'm lactoles intolerant, and I craft my pants in his truck.
The very next day, poop got all over all my clothes.
We threw my underwear into a field in Pennsylvania. It
was just an awful situation. So anytime I have to poop,
I hope I'm not in the car because then I
get flashbacks. And this was what my mind goes to
(08:33):
someone in the car. I mean, I think that there's
thousands and thousands of cars being backed up by these
idiotic protesters. On the high we talked about talking about
freeing Palestine. It's like, it makes no sense, you got
these libs blocking traffic to free Palestine, Yet the same
libs are gonna be talking about you know, LGBTQ plus rights.
(09:01):
Is there a more hypocrisy statement than this situation, because
you go to one of these Palestine cities and people
are talking about how they literally execute people that come
out as gay. Makes no sense whatsoever. But yeah, here
(09:23):
they are free Palestine. Okay, makes no sense whatsoever. So
my thigh goes to there's thousands of cars backed up, right, thousands.
I would assume I've never been to LA, but it
says what I wrote. It says, I guarantee someone in
one of these vehicles had to badly poop and we're
rushing to get somewhere to do. So what do they do? Seriously,
(09:49):
you're just stopped in the middle of traffic. You gotta
go number two really really bad. And I guess it
is LA, so they can just poop on the side
of the street. And I mean all the whole almost
people do that, so why wouldn't they, So I guess
that's probably option number one. But you don't want to
do that in front of all these other vehicles. But
I guess if you gotta go, you gotta go. Maybe
(10:09):
do you poop in the back of your cars. They're
like a sort of like a bag in your car
they can poop into and then throw it outside with
the rest of LA.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
I don't know, but it's just something that I saw online.
I'm like, what did they do?
Speaker 1 (10:23):
I mean, I know someone has to pee really badly,
but pee's a little bit different.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Pee. You can just go to the.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Side of road, take a little leak, a poop that's raunchy,
that's sticky if it's a softy one.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
It's if it's a.
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Soft one, and it's just a little bit more complicated
than that. So I don't know, just a random thought.
If you have an idea, post something in the comment
What do they do? What do they do if someone
had to poop badly? And these random libs from palaced
(10:54):
from pro Palestine protesters are blocking traffic, So I want
to hear your thoughts right down the comments section. Everyone,
thank you for making this podcast a part every day,
and I'll be talking to you soon
