Speaker 1 (00:07):
Welcome into the show today. Thank you for making this
podcast a part of your day. Hit that subscribe button
wherever you are watching or listening to this episode and
join the thousands. We've got a big important Timberwolves game
to talk about last night, a crazy double overtime finish

(00:32):
where somehow the Timberwolves came up on top. But I've
got a big announcement to make. An announcement is that
the Minnesota tim podcast has another sponsor to announce. We

(00:54):
just got our bathroom redone and we love it, and
I asked them, you want to sponsor my podcast, Like sure,
we'd love to. Five Star bath Solutions of Minneapolis. If
you need a bathroom redone, there's no better scenario or

(01:19):
company to go with than five star bath solution dot com.
Take a look at these pictures right here. Okay, picture one.
There's our bathroom, our tub. You see that little step, Oh, gross,
mouldy walls, one sink, dirty floor, dirt and grime getting

(01:44):
in between the grooves. That's the bathroom we used to have.
The people that lived here before had handicap issues. They
had handrails everywhere that we don't currently need. So that's
how it looked before and apparently the rest of the

(02:06):
video didn't download. Are you kidding me? We'll get it.
But five Star Bess Solutions is the place to get
your bathroom done. I'm gonna talk about it more. You
ready for this. I talked to some companies and they said, yeah,

(02:27):
it can be done in four to six weeks. I
asked them, do you do mult removem No, you gotta
hire someone else. So you're like looking at like a
three or four month project. By the time you get
the mold done, by the time you get the bathroom done,
by the time you get this done, bathrooms are molded areas.
They got this project done for us in less than

(02:48):
forty eight hours. Mold removal gone, bathroom updated, and a
complete game changer for my wife and I. We didn't
need to completely eliminate a bathroom for three months. We
were using that bathroom in three days, fully remodeled, fully finished,

(03:10):
with everything, all the bells and whistles that we wanted.
So you need to look at five Star bathsolution dot
com for all your bathroom needs because of the reasons

(03:30):
I just said, five Star bath Solutions of Minneapolis. Check
them out today. The video is currently downloading. This got
completely boned by the original download. Maybe that's my fault
for not checking it. Let's see here, let's see if
this one works. Do do dude, dun dun dun dune

(03:58):
doom don dun dun. Here we go, Here we go.
This one works. So there's the before pictures. Moldy bath

(04:19):
room and shower, one sink, gross floor in That step
by the shower was so annoying, like why is there
a step there for the handicaps? Okay, here's the after.
Oh that's what I'm talking about. No mold, beautiful tub,
beautiful shower, beautiful surround, updated floors, no step, double sinks,

(04:44):
new mirror, fresh vanity. A complete game changer. And here's
the thing about bathrooms. When you put money into the
bath you get money out of the bathroom. So the
value of our house just skyrocketed. And if you want

(05:08):
this project done in less than forty eight hours, call
five star bathroom, five Star bath Solutions dot Com of Minneapolis. Okay,
all right, let's dive into the Timberwolves win. Now that
we got that figured out, here we go. Timberwolves wine
to one thirty nine and a double overtime thriller, Julius

(05:32):
Randall twenty six points, Jaden McDaniel's twelve points, Rudy Gobert
nineteen points, Mike Connley nine points, Anthony Edwards thirty four points.
A fascinating story of this game. Anthony Edwards and Julius

(05:54):
Randall were the only two players in the starting lineup
that had a plus, which means the Timberwolves were better
when they were on the floor in this ballgame, Edwards
was a plus eight and Julius Randall was a plus one.
Mike Conley was a minus twenty two, Rudy Gobert was

(06:14):
a minus ten, and jad McDaniel's was a minus six,
which means that a lot of credit of this game
can go to the Timberwolves bench. Josh Mine had a
plus fourteen and twelve minutes. Who's been bench ridden for months,
so he does There's a lot of credit for stepping

(06:35):
in seamlessly like this. Nikil Alexander Walker plus fourteen and
forty five minutes off the bench, twenty six points, eight assists,
seven rebounds, and two clutch free throws to finish the game.
Jalen Clark a plus two, Rob Dillingham a plus four.

(06:58):
The overarching theme of this game is that the Timberwolves
dug deep overcame a early game poor play, because this

(07:18):
is what always happens to the Timberwolves. It was a
late announcement that Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Junior were
not playing for the Denver Nuggets, and I tweeted it.
I said, did the odds for the Denver Nuggets just
go up? Now? To be fair, Nasried and Dante di
Vincenzo were not available to play for the Timberwolves because

(07:39):
of their one game suspension due to their involvement in
the brawl against the Detroit Pistons, so they couldn't play.
There's a disadvantage Timberwolves, but it basically even itself out
because two starters were not available to play for the
Denver Nuggets, so that's a wash. Timberwolves start out flat

(08:03):
and the Nuggets getting an early lead late in the game.
Regulation I pull up the highlights of the house at
Stane until midnight last night and Timberwls are down eleven
with about seven minutes left. Anthony Edwards goes off because
throughout this game he was struggling. According to Chris Hyne
of The Starved Tribune, Edwards, Conley, and McDaniels were combined

(08:27):
three for nineteen at one point. Anthony Edwards, according to
John Krasinski of The Athletic ant, is three for twelve
from three. Sorry, ant is three of twelve, one of
eight from three. If it doesn't erupt pretty quickly here,

(08:48):
it's hard to see how the Wolves get back in
it well. Edwards finishes twelve for twenty five, five for
fifteen from the three point line. He had an incredible
fourth quarter and an amazing sensatial performance down the stretch

(09:10):
in regulation to put the Timberwolves in a position not
just to force overtime down eleven with seven minutes left,
but to actually win the game. It's rare where your
team can actually choke away of the game when they're

(09:33):
down eleven with seven minutes left, But that's exactly what happened.
Timberwls down eleven, comeback, take the lead, have an opportunity
to win, and the game winning shot is Julius Randall
step back three, fading away over a defender on the wing.

(09:56):
It's not a good shot. And then first overtime comes
Timberwolves tied again. Jaden McDaniels takes a contested mid range
jump shot misses doesn't even hit the rim, just like
Julius Randall's shot, and then the Timberwolves win in double

(10:16):
overtime thanks to the efforts of Edwards and Nikiel Alexander
Walker and the guys were making big shots, but even
bigger thanks to Russell Westbrook for being the end of
game hero for the Timberwolves, a team that could not
hit a shot in the final five seconds of really regulation,

(10:43):
first overtime, and second overtime. Nikkeil Alexander Walker missed the shot,
got fouled, makes the two free throws. Russell Westbrook misses
a layup to put the Nuggets up three, and it
wasn't that contested either. Conley was there to just uped
a little bit, but Mike Conley's what six three? Russell

(11:05):
westbrooks and athletic guard that should be able to rise
up above him, regardless of what age he is. He's
way more athletic than Mike Conley is at his age.
Timberwol's come back down as the clock is ticking down,
Nikil Alexander Walker in the corner, Russell Westbrook fouls him
at the three point line, and the Timberls knock down

(11:28):
two free throws, missed the last on purpose to win
the game. So, looking at game recaps and the reaction
from the fan base following, not just the fan base,
from the media, from the insiders, just looking at all

(11:49):
of that stuff, I'm saying, what a crazy game, amazing finish,
historical game, game for the ages. I don't know how
I'm gonna fall asleep after this Timberwolves. And that's not
my first reaction. Great game, awesome to watch the highlights.

(12:10):
My first reaction is the Timberwolves should have closed this
thing out in regulation and in the first overtime. Sure,
it was an incredible comeback down the stretch from the
final seven minutes where Edwards went off, knocked down multiple
three point shots, got to the rim, finished strong, and

(12:32):
it was awesome because if I was watching that game,
I probably would have counted the Timberwolves out with six
minutes left, with Jokic going for sixty and with other
factors being at play, but Edwards stepped up. But my
reaction isn't, oh, everything's great and Timberwolves land after winning

(12:53):
this game, which it was a good win, and it
secures a little bit in the Western off. It's not secures,
but keeps them competing for the sixth seed with the
Golden State Warriors, but even more so with the Memphis Grizzlies,
who are free falling incredibly right now after their nonsense

(13:17):
firing of Taylor Jenkins. But then the Timberwolves get two
opportunities to win the game and then on hit the
rim once and second in the In the first overtime,
they're up five with a minute left and they couldn't

(13:38):
close out the Nuggets. So what bothers me about this
is how quickly the narrative of the game changes because
of Russell Westbrook's foul on Alexander Walker. The narrative went
from the timberwl cannot close out games to ah, the

(14:04):
Timberwls just found away. I don't know if the Timberl's
found away as much as Russell Wilson Westbrook handed the
game to the Timberwolves down the stretch by missing a
layup and by fouling Alexander Walker. Because in three straight scenarios,

(14:26):
the Timbrels missed a shot to win the game and
they got bailed out by Russell Westbrook fouling Alexander Walker,
and it wasn't a scenario where you followed him on
the shot. The shot was off, but Russell Westbrook did

(14:47):
not give him room to land. He crowded his space,
and then the ref had the guts to call the
foul with zero point one second left in a situation
where you're an NBA ref and every fan does this

(15:12):
except for me, because I have a brighter mind than
criticizing the rev Oh, let them play, let them play. Oh,
come on, let the players decide the game. Oh, and
then the call goes your way. And then and then
what you're saying, huh, they call the foul on the
Westbrook sends Alexander walking into the line, saves the game

(15:35):
for the Timberwolves. Are you still begging the rest of
letting them play or are you appreciating the fact that
they called the foul. You're appreciating the fact that they
call the foul, So don't speak out of both sides
of your mouth. Anyways. That's just a little personal frustration

(15:56):
that I have with the way that die hard fans
and even insiders react to officiating. Oh, let the players
decide the game. They earn that right, then they call
a foul that benefits your team. Then what are you saying,

(16:19):
are you complaining about the foul? No, you're saying, oh
great call, Oh Timberwolves, they just found a way to win.
But anyways, So the Timberwolves right now have a record
of forty four and thirty two and are a half
a game out from the sixth seed. No, are actually

(16:45):
tied with the Grizzlies. They have the same record as
the Grizzlies right now, and they actually play the Grizzlies
coming up shortly, so that game could decide the fate
of the sixth seed in the Western Conference. So this
is a big game. And now the Timberwolves stretch run

(17:10):
gets easier on paper. They got Brooklyn twice, They've got
Philadelphia who stink, Milwaukee who's up and down, Memphis that's
on a free fall, and Utah who stinks. The Timberwolves
have six games left. There's no reason why they shouldn't

(17:33):
win at least five of those games and secure the
sixth seed with the Grizzlies free falling. That's the expectation.
Although there is no other team that I can recall
watching and cheering for that has been a bigger two

(17:54):
face two face like Batman two face Joker two face.
Then the Timberwolves, because you look at their wins, all
the eight game win streak, everything's look a great throw
the party in Minneapolis, the championship parade. We're rolling, We're
gonna get the fifth or sixteen, and here we go.

(18:16):
And then he lose to the shorthanded Pacers. You lose
to their bench, and then you lose to the nineteen
win Pelican team, and then you beat the Pelicans by
forty and then you lose to the Pacers again with
their starters, by sixteen points. Oh, then you respond by
beating Phoenix. Who if the Timberwolves ever need like just

(18:44):
something to make themselves feel good or a bounce back,
put Phoenix on the schedule. They have a man handled
and owned Phoenix, like Aaron Rodgers has owned the Chicago
Bears throughout his entire career as much as Anthony Edwards
respects Kevin Durant and calls him his favorite player. Edwards

(19:07):
owns the Suns and Kevin Durant. And then they beat
Detroit who's legitimate this year? And then last night's dramatic
double overtime victory in which Russell Westbrook handed the Timberwolves
the win. But now they had the high, the double
overtime high, and they get a one day break, and

(19:32):
then the NBA forces the Timberwolves to travel from Denver
to Brooklyn. Seems a little on fair. You had a
day break, but from Denver to Brooklyn seems low on fair. Uh,
And they have a six thirty game that night in
Brooklyn's no good. So what will be interesting to watch

(19:56):
is how the Timberwolves respond to there win, that high
moment that we all talk about. You're up here, you're
up here, you're feeling great. You have this amazing high
moment of beating a team in double over time and
keeping yourself within the race of the sixth seed. How

(20:19):
you're gonna respond the following game against a team that
you should dominate because this game could be the determining
factor of whether or not you are the sixth seed.
Every single game does from here on out, and you

(20:40):
need to do everything you can to avoid that playing
game because the Clippers are right on the Timberwolves tail too.
They're half game behind the Timberwlves is not you're just
chasing Memphis. If you lose, you're also going on the road.
In the playing game, so you don't want that either,

(21:02):
So every game here on out should be a must
win mentality for the Timberwolves. It gives me the vikings
to the Eagles vibes of twenty seventeen. They've get the
high feeling of beating the Saints the miracle and then
they lay an egg in Philadelphia. So hopefully the Timberwolves

(21:25):
don't lay an egg in Brooklyn following their dramatic, exciting
win over the Denver Nuggets. But what a thrill, fun
game to catch up on. And for all those that
stayed up and watched the game, I'm sorry, but I

(21:47):
basically watched it in ten minutes this morning, so if
you want to do that going forward. Hey, it was
a playoff game, I'm staying up for it regular season
game at the end of the year. Still recovering, no
to swollen, my jaws sore, went to the dentis last week.
My tea is still hurt. Didn't have any cavities though,

(22:08):
