(00:28):
trade back in the twenty twenty five NFL Draft. The
NFL Draft is three weeks from today, so a decision
is going to come soon from the Minnesota Vikings. But
what I first must do is tell you about this

Speaker 1 (01:03):
My wife and I were in the business of remodeling
our bathroom and we were looking around projects. This project
could be done in four to six weeks, this project
could get done in a few months, and oh uh,
but you have to hire someone else to get rid
of that mold.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
We can't take care of that because we had a
mold problem.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
And what happened was that we found five Star Bath
Solutions of Minneapolis. We gave them a call, they gave
us a free consultation, and we were so convinced that
day that we signed on the DOTTA line.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
This project was done in forty eight hours.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Look at this bathroom a step Muldi shower, one sink,
gross floors, gross colors.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Handicapped bars. Didn't like it at all. Boom.
Speaker 1 (01:55):
Five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis did this forty eight
hours and we were using our bathroom three days later.

So the Minnesota Vikings hold the twenty fourth overall pick
in the two thousand and twenty five NFL Draft, and
(02:40):
the debate right now is should the Vikings trade down,
acquire more draft capita and select more players. And if
you asked me this question before free agency began, I
think the answer was an obvious yes, because the Vikings
(03:04):
had needs in many different places, offensive line, defensive line, secondary,
and during free agency, somehow the Vikings fulfilled ninety five
percent of those needs. They added corners, they resigned their corner,
(03:25):
they added offensive and defensive linemen to fulfill major holes
in the.
Speaker 2 (03:32):
Minnesota Vikings roster.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
So after free agency, the approach to the NFL Draft
looks completely different because instead of needing three or four
guys at three or four different positions, you now have
(03:55):
the ultimate flexibility heading into the NFL Draft because all
of your positions of need are already filled.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
You're adding depth pieces, So you could trade down, you
could acquire more picks, or you could stay right where
you're at because you don't need a boltload of picks
this year. You don't need to find sleeper players in
the second or third round that can come out and
play first here because you already fulfilled those spots in
(04:30):
free agency. And I think that when you trade down,
you put yourself at an incredible risk of being Monday
morning quarterbacked. Think about Lewis Scene, the safety the Vikings
(04:51):
drafted a few years ago. They traded down drafted Lewis
Scene out of Georgia, which any defensive player out of
Georgia would arguably make any sense, would make sense because Georgia,
I think they won the national championship that year. Lewis
had a major role on that football team, and it
(05:13):
seemed like it would make sense on paper. He is
a first round pick, talented guy, leader of that defensive team,
full of studs everywhere.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
He just did not pan out in the NFL.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
And a year later, what did Minnesota Vikings fans and
insiders do. They pointed to all the good players the
Vikings could have had at fourteenth overall, the safety out
of Notre Dame, Josh Hamilton I think is his name,
(05:48):
that now plays for Baltimore and is a beast, and
there's a ton of other players too. So when you
trade down, you put yourself at an incredible of being
criticized because you passed up on players that could play.
And whether it's fair or not, that's exactly what happens.
(06:14):
So if Quessey decides, you know what, let's get two
second round picks instead of one first round pick, then
there are going to be guys drafted at twenty six,
twenty seven, and twenty eighth overall somewhere in that mix
that become very good NFL football players, and Vikings fans
(06:35):
and insiders are going to point to those players and
say you missed them, just like we do to the
Philadelphia Eagles organization. We make fun of them all the
time for passing up on Justin Jefferson and drafting Jalen
Rager one.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Spot ahead of them.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
You see the video of Rick's and uh Mike Zimmer
all the time celebrating on that zoom call during the
COVID nineteen draft because the Eagles did not draft Jefferson,
and you still make fun of the Eagles to this
(07:18):
day for missing on Jefferson. So my point being is this,
if the Vikings trade down and with on two second
round picks, which Quessey has done for a majority part
(07:40):
of his drafts while he's been a part of the Vikings,
that's what he does. He hits free agency, he grabs
the players that can play, pays them, finds diamonds in
the rough, and free agency goes in the NFL draft
(08:01):
and whiffs besides few guys like Jordan Andison, and you
trade down, and you put yourself in position to get criticized,
and you put yourself in position to wif not that
you couldn't whiff with their twenty fourth overall pick, because
he'll do that too. But when you trade down, you
(08:24):
become a bigger target to say you missed out on
this player, you missed out on that player that's now
a Hall of Famer and is one of the best
players at his positions in the NFL. So, because of
what the Vikings did in free agency in acquiring must
needed pieces to make the Vikings still competitive in the
(08:50):
tougher NFC North, stay put and draft the best player
available because one of the another needs of the Vikings,
arguably we're looking at was adding a running back, and
earlier this year, Daniel Jeremiah of NFL Network said that
(09:16):
the Vikings were mocked to draft the Ohio State running
back Henderson and it's like, oh, that makes sense.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
The Viking's going to running back.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Aaron Jones isn't resigned yet and they made that Lincoln connection.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
And I thought, yeah, let's do it.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
But not even a running back in the first round
doesn't need anymore because the Vikings traded for Jordan Mason
and re signed Aaron Jones. So I think you stay
at twenty four and select the best player that you
can get, either at corner, safety, defensive tackle, or offensive lineman.
(09:58):
I prefer the guard spot because that is the one
hole that's gotta be filled before the NFL season comes.
I guess you could fill it by Blake Brandle or
or whatever. But that's definitely a weaker vessel than the
rest of the offensive line. With Christian Derisaw wil Fries,
(10:22):
Ryan Kelly, Brian O'Neil, and then Blake Brandle. Let's get
one more solidified left guard and make this the best
offensive line in football if they're all healthy. So I
don't think the Viking should trade down, although it is
certainly a possibility because it's what people are talking about.
(10:43):
They don't need to draft a guy at twenty four
because they got all their guys.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
In free agency, and they also don't need to trade down.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
The Vikings have a lot of flexibility going into this
NFL draft, and that's exactly what they were shooting for.
That's what they wanted and that's why they got so
many players in free agency because of their approach for
(11:12):
this NFL draft. I think the last thing that you
want to do going into the NFL Draft is have
many areas of need, especially when you have all the
cap from the Vikings, SAT and other NFL organizations know it.
And let's say the Vikings didn't re sign Aaron Jones
(11:34):
or trade for Jordan Mason hypothetically, and NFL teams know
the Vikings want to trade up and get a running back, Well,
they're gonna demand a lot because the Vikings need that
position badly.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
It's not the case.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
The Vikings don't necessarily need any position really badly, which
put the which puts themselves in a perfect spot going
into the NFL Draft.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
They can do whatever they want.
Speaker 1 (12:01):
I'd stay at twenty four because then you avoid the
you could pick this guy, this guy, this guy, and
they're all studs. But really they're suited perfectly to get
whoever they want at twenty four or trade down and
try to add more depth to the roster at specific positions.
(12:23):
So should they trade down? I would say no, but
really there is no wrong answer. Thank you for watching
