Speaker 1 (00:07):
Welcome into this show today.
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Thank you for making this podcast a part of your
day and for going on this podcasting journey along with me.
There is some very exciting things happening within the Minnesota
sports scene. The Minnesota Timberwolves face off against the Los
(00:32):
Angeles Lakers starting Saturday, and the Minnesota Wild face off
against the Las Vegas Golden Knights after narrowly defeating the
Anaheim Ducks quack quack quack and overtime, which secured their
(00:57):
playoff birth. So we're gonna I even knew all of
it this morning, but first I need to tell you
about Five Star Bath.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Solutions of Minneapolis.
Speaker 2 (01:09):
My wife and I needed a bathroom remodel done badly.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Our bathroom was disgusting. But here's the deal. We didn't
want to wait six weeks.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
We didn't all want to stuff into our downstairs bathroom
where we had to pile up and pile in. We
didn't want to have to stop using an area of
our house that we literally use every day for six weeks.
So then we found five Star Bath Solutions of Minneapolis,
and they remodeled our full bathroom in forty eight hours.
Speaker 1 (01:49):
And it is updated. It is modern, take a look.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
For yourself if you're watching on YouTube our bathroom prior,
I'll go nasty color, moldy shower, slippery tub, one sink,
disgusting looking vanity, and voila. Forty eight hours later, new floor,
(02:15):
new bathroom, new shower surround, a double sink, and a
new vanity. Sure it was an investment, but when you
put something into your kitchen or your bathroom, you get
that money back.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
And we got our bathroom back in forty eight hours.
Speaker 2 (02:35):
Five Star bath Solutions of Minneapolis will get the job
done right, and we'll get the job done fast. There's
really no other better option. Five Star Baths Solutions of Minneapolis.
Check them out today, get a free consultation, and be
(02:55):
a happy customer like my wife and I are today.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
We love it, you will love yours.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Two. Okay, So the Minnesota Timberwolves face off against the
Lakers Lebron James Luka, Doncic, and everybody's picking the Lakers
to win. NBA experts unanimously select the Lakers to defeat
(03:27):
the Timberwolves in this series, and Charles Barkley release as
its best.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
We ain't experts were just joking, not joking, I don't
know what he says.
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Basically, they love to call themselves experts, and Charles Barkley says,
we're not experts, We're just analyzers and predictors of the game.
Speaker 1 (03:50):
The Lakers are favored to win the series, and.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
Across ESPN predictions, they asked ten experts.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Of ESPN.
Speaker 2 (04:07):
And all ten of them picked the Lakers to win
in six or seven games, which would give the perception
that the Timberwolves are massive underdogs in this series. Well,
(04:27):
Anthony Edwards was asked about that, and John Krasinski sent
up this tweet.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
I just love it. It's dope. It's dope.
Speaker 2 (04:37):
I love the fact that everybody wants the Lakers to win.
That's how it's supposed to be. They don't want the
Timberwolves to win.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I get it. Now.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
Here's where I, an objective Minnesota sports fan, cut straight
through the bs of we are happy to be underdogs.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
It's supposed to be the Lakers show.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
When I see these experts and their predictions and then
I read Anthony Edwards' comments, what comes.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
To my mind is.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
A situation where Edwards is embracing the underdog role. The
fans love the underdog role, but it's also not good
that the Lakers are favored and are being predicted by
everybody to.
Speaker 1 (05:38):
Win the series. Let's not act like this is a
good thing.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Okay, Edwards is embracing it as a good thing.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
I love it. It's dope.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
It's dope that nobody thinks that your team can beat
the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Why And it's not dope.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
What it would be dope is if ever everybody believe
that your team was good enough to beat a team
with Lebron James and Luca dmcic.
Speaker 1 (06:07):
This ain't dope. This is the opposite of dope. This
is epod dope spelled backwards. So this is dumb.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
And this is where a person like me steps into
this situation and cuts straight through the bull crap of
everybody's comments. Right now, Anthony Edwards, the fans or underdogs,
were embracing the role everybody's against us. This is great,
this is what we want, when the truth of the
matter is, this is not what you want. What you
would want is be the number one seat Oklahoma Sydney
(06:41):
Thunder and to be predicted to run through the Western
Conference and make it to the NBA Finals. That's the
best case scenario for anybody. And when I see this,
another thought comes.
Speaker 1 (06:57):
To my mind.
Speaker 2 (06:59):
If the Timberwolves were predicted by all of these NBA
experts to beat the Lakers, they would be ecstatic.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
They would be.
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Encouraged because that means that people believe in the Timberwolves.
Speaker 1 (07:21):
So really, regardless of.
Speaker 2 (07:25):
Which way the media portrayed the Timberwolves versus the Lakers,
you are going to take that portrayal and make it
sound as if it's automatically good for you, whenever reality
it's not. I mean, I would rather have the media
and others believe in the Timberwolves to beat the Lakers,
(07:47):
because then the Timberwolves would be having a good basketball team.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
And isn't that how that works?
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Don't you typically predict the team to win that you
think is a better basketball team. And when I see
ESPN predicting the Lakers to win ten out of ten,
I don't think that's a good thing. But of course,
what's gonna happen. All we're using this as motivation, and
(08:20):
the Timberls might even go and win Game one in LA,
And what they're gonna say is, well, everybody picked the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (08:27):
Don't get too far ahead of yourself. Is Game one.
It's a seven game series, best out of seven.
Speaker 2 (08:37):
Don't get too far ahead of yourselves. You love to
throw that motivation. People love to throw the motivation. Oh,
this is gonna be motivating the team. Oh it's gonna
motivate Anthony Edwards. Sure there's some of that, but ultimately,
what it comes down to is execution and the Timberwolve's
(09:00):
ability to stay composed despite the Lakers having two of
the top ten players in the league and arguably the
greatest player of all time. And I see the reaction
(09:21):
from Edwards, and I feel the reaction from the Timberwolves
fan base or underdogs.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
Nobody believes in us. We're gonna steal the show. We're
gonna prove our haters wrong. And I get it.
Speaker 2 (09:39):
I get that's I get why they have to take
that mentality, and I get why they have to going
go into this series with that approach.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
But let's also call it what it is.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
Nobody believes in the Timberwolves to beat the Lakers because
people don't think the Timberwolves could beat the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
That's how that works.
Speaker 2 (10:01):
And if nobody believes the Timberwolves can beat the Lakers,
then the odds are not on their side, which is
also not a good thing. So I see Edwards loving
this role of being the underdog and everybody predicting the
(10:22):
Lakers to win.
Speaker 1 (10:23):
But let's call it what it is. Let's be honest
about it.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
The Lakers have a better team and that's why people
are picking the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (10:36):
So the Minnesota Wild.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Had a spectacular finish versus the Anaheim Ducks, which was pivotal.
Speaker 1 (10:53):
In their.
Speaker 2 (10:55):
Race to the playoffs because if they lose that game,
all Calgary would have had to do is win Thursday
night to knock the Wild out of the playoffs. And
the Wild we're down two to one with twenty seconds
(11:19):
remaining and Joel ericsonek knocks in the game tying goal,
which automatically put the Minnesota Wild into the playoffs, because
all the Wild needed to do was force overtime, gain
(11:42):
a point automatically, and their playoff destination was secure, which
is also why the Wild put in Mark Andre Flurry
to finish off the deal. But Michael Russo, the Wild
Inside of the Athletic, sent out this tweet on X
(12:04):
on April fifteenth. He said Caprizov missed exactly half the season.
Eric Sinek missed forty four percent of the season, Brodin
missed thirty two games, and scores of other injuries.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
Pretty good feet making the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Nobody would have thought it possible if I told you
those numbers before the season.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
The Timberwolves are facing.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Timberwolves, Gosh, I hate when I do that. The Minnesota
Wild are facing the Vegas Golden Knights, which the Wild
will be massive underdogs.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
In this series, just like the Timberwolves.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
But let's also recognize how cool it is that the
Wild made the playoffs despite their best player missing half
the season, and despite their second best oppensive player missing
forty four percent of the season and one of their
(13:19):
best defensive players, bro Dean, missing thirty two games of
the season. The Wild overcame so many odds this year
to even put themselves in a position to make the playoffs,
(13:39):
and they did.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
And they were holding on for dear.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Life at the end of the season because they got
off to such a hot start and then were tail
spinning at the end with key players coming back during
the final week or two stretch of the year, and
the fact that Anaheim Ducks had the Wild on the
(14:06):
ropes when the Anaheim Ducks stink is also something concerning.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
But instead of.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
Being critical about the Wild and discussing their chances at
beating the Golden Knights, which are slim, let's recognize that
the Wild accomplished.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Something spectacular this season.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
They couldn't rely on their best players to win them
games because they were hurt for most of the season,
and yet they still managed to make the playoffs, and
Wild head coach John Hines deserves a lot of credit
(14:55):
for taking the Wild roster without Caprizov and without Joel
eric Sinak.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
And taking them.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
To the playoffs because Matt Baldy is as inconsistent as
they come, same with Marco Rossi, gust of Sin's inconsistent flurries, inconsistent.
John Hines took a roster full of inconsistent players without
their best players for fifty percent of the season to
(15:31):
the playoffs and are now matched up against a top
seed in the West with their best players back Caprizovnak.
So hopefully the Wild don't get swept in the series,
and maybe they can make it competitive.
Speaker 1 (15:52):
But let's just recognize it for what it is. The Wild.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
We're still able to make the playoffs while they are
salary Caps stricken with the Parisian suitor contracts and still
managed to make the playoffs with out the best players
for most of the year. It's just something that deserves
(16:19):
to be recognized and I'm not gonna be critical of it.
