Speaker 1 (00:06):
The series is over. The Minnesota Timberwolves have zero chance
to beat the Oklahoma City Thunder. And I'm not just
talking out my a hole either, because i really believe
that this series is over, and I'm gonna explain why
on today's podcast. The Timberwalls are done. It was a

(00:29):
good run. But first I need you to check out

The same dude has been working on this project for months,
one month and it's still not done. And as like

bathroom transformed. All right. The Timberwolves are done. They lost
Game two one eighteen one oh three, and I called

(02:20):
Game two a must win game because I do not
believe that the Timberwolves can win back to back games
in this series versus the Thunder. The Nuggets took the
Thunder to seven games, and they could not win back
to back games with arguably the best player in the

(02:44):
universe on their team. And when you look at the
Timberwolves roster, there's holes everywhere. Either the bench isn't performing,
or some starters aren't performing, or someone's having a heart attack.
The Timberwolves are too leaky to defeat the Oklahoma City

(03:10):
Thunder in back to back games at Target Center. Edwards
played better in Game two twelve for twenty six thirty
two points, nine rebounds, six assists, one block, is zero turnovers,
one for nine from the three point line. But even
if he went three for nine or whatever the case

(03:32):
may be, even if he knocked down a few more
threes edwards, and the Timberwolves still lost by fifteen points.
And here's the biggest issue. After Game two, specifically, endgame one,

(03:57):
end game one, the thundershot twenty one threes. Game two,
they shot thirty three threes. The Thunder shot twenty seven
point nine percent from the three point line, and the
Timberwolves shot twenty eight percent from the three point line.
So the Wolves outshot the Thunder from the three point line,

(04:21):
knocking in two more threes at a one percent percentage,
clipped better, and still gave up one one hundred and
eighteen points and lost by fifteen. So what you are
seeing is an Oklahoma City Thunder team that hasn't even

(04:43):
hit their peak yet. Because game one they went eleven
for twenty one from three, it's pretty good. But Game
two they still scored one to eighteen and only shot
twenty seven percent from three. And maybe you're thinking, oh,
it's the free throw disparity. They just show way more

(05:04):
free throws. The Timberwolves in Game two shot twenty six
free throws compared to the Oklahoma City Thunder twenty four
and the Timberwolves personal foul wise, think about this. Everyone
wants to complain about the rest, pointing their finger at

(05:24):
the rest. The Timberwolves committed twenty personal fouls in Game
two compared to the Oklahoma City Thunders twenty two. So
everything that people are putting their finger as say, it's unfair.
Game one, the teams were evenly matched with twenty two
fouls apiece. In Game two, the Thunder had twenty two fouls,

(05:45):
shot twenty four free throws, the Timberwolves twenty fouls twenty
six free throws. The Oklahoma City Thunder mid range game
the Timberwolves to death. It is by a million mid
range shots, which I love. I love that there is

(06:11):
a different team entering the stratosphere of greatness in the
NBA that are doing things a little differently than chucking
up sixty three is a game. I love that there
is a different recipe that the Oklahoma City Thunder are
dialing up to reach the NBA Finals and probably win

(06:33):
the entire thing. And in game two. At one point,
the Thunder were five of twenty seven from the three
point line and we're still up by eleven points. We
have a text thread going with my cousin Adam, cousin Jacob,
and my brother, and my brother quoted the Mighty Ducks.

(06:54):
He says they're bigger, they're faster, they're stronger, they have
more facial hair. That perfectly describes the Timberwolves matching up
with the Oklahoma City Thunder because everywhere the Thunder are
buttoned up. They have shooters, they have defense, they have

(07:21):
mid range guys, they have post guys that can do
little floaters in the lane. They match up perfectly with
Minnesota because even though Edwards put up the total that
he did and it was a much better game from him,
Julius Ryannold struggled and Edwards also had to work for

(07:44):
almost every basket. They make him work. And when I
look at what's happened so far in the series, I
can't help but think that the Minnesota Timberwolves have zero
chance to win. And going into this series, and similar
to last year, you don't realize just how far off

(08:08):
you are until you meet the peak, until you meet
the cream of the crop. The timberwls Ah were NBA
files contenders. We could win a championship, and then you
run into Dallas and then he run into the Thunder,
and then you realize just how far off you are

(08:29):
from getting to an NBA Finals and winning one. Because
these rosters are not comparable. From starting lineups to the bench,
the rosters are not comparable. The Thunder are better and
practically every single category. And you could almost see it

(08:53):
on the faces of the Timberwolves when they got down
big in the third quarter. It was almost like a
posture or an attitude of we have no chance. Not
only do the Oklahoma City Thunder have the players and

(09:14):
the roster, but they also have the mentality that a
team needs to reach the NBA Finals. The Timberwolves have
such a small margin of error, but they play like
they're the most talented team. They're loose, they're careless, they're

(09:37):
not intentional with every single detail, and when you compare
the Timberwolves intentionality to the Thunder, intentionality is not even close.
The Thunder value every possession and the Timberwolves don't. Every

(09:58):
little stretch matters to the Thunder. A tiny mental lapse
from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Means the Thunder go on a
long run and the game is essentially over. Perfect example
of this is the end of the half. Timberwolves are
down fifty three point fifty, with a chance to tie.

(10:20):
Edwards missus A three. We're talking about the final moments
of the half. Final minute, Shay Gilgiz Alexander comes down,
hits a three. Okay, down fifty six to fifty. Timberlves
have a chance to score, make it another one possession
game going into the locker room. Fifty six to fifty three.
Donte DiVincenzo, illegal screen, Thunder come back, knock down two

(10:41):
free throws, and that's just a blow to the Timberwolves.
You're feeling good, you're only down three, got a chance,
and then the Thunder in the final thirty seconds of
the half go from up three to up eight, and
that just blew the entire wind out of the Timberwolve sales.

(11:04):
It's things like that, and Nikill Alexander Walker following the game,
really said it perfectly because it's what I've been saying
as we've previewed this series. He said, the Wolves cannot
wear the thunder down the way they can other teams
one hundred percent true. They play all four quarters and

(11:28):
they have to be prepared for four rounds each night,
and if it's a knockout, it's going to be a TKO.
The Wolves wore down the Warriors and the Lakers. Both
teams are older, elderly players. You can't do that against
the Thunder. They're young, they're athletic, they're healthy, and they

(11:50):
match up great with the Wolves. You cannot have these
lack of days ago moments where you just don't show
up for five minutes because the Thunder are going to
take that and knock you out and the game is
going to be over. And the reason why I don't
think the Timberwolves can win this series is because I

(12:10):
don't think they can beat the Thunder in back to
back games. And not only in back to back games.
But what would need to happen is that we got
game three, Game four, Game five, Game six, Game seven.
There's five games left. You wouldn't have to only beat
them two times in a row to even the series.

(12:35):
You would have to win four out of five games
against a team that won sixty eight games and have
mode through the Western Conference. You'd have to win four
out of five games to win this series against the
MVP and a roster that is designed perfectly around the MVP.

(13:00):
So it's over and as awesome as these runs have
been last year, in this year somewhat unexpected, although the
Wolves were the one seed last year, still a little unexpected.
There is still so much buttoning up to do because

(13:23):
there are holes on the roster and you don't realize
just how holy the roster is until you meet a
team like the Thunder and you're like, wow, we're not
even close. We're not even in the stratosphere of winning
the NBA finals. Mall, we advanced at the Western Cons

(13:45):
Finals two years in a row. But there is still
so much more work than this roster needs because you
see players like go Baar get exposed in these moments. Defensively,
he's been solid, but a perfect situation. Timberls get the rebound,

(14:05):
go Bear gets stripped, get the ball easy two points.
Things like that that have been happening through the course
of the first two games. Series is over. It's been
a good run. It's a fun playoffs. Now we'll see
what happens this offseason with Randall his opt in situation
nas Reed, He's definitely gonna opt out and seek a

(14:27):
bigger contract from the Wolves or someone else, but it'll
be interesting for sure. Thank you for watching. I'm sorry
to give you the crappy news that the series is over,
and hit that subscribe button wherever you are watching or
listening to this podcast. Everyone have a great day and

(14:47):
I will see you very very soon
