This is the Jody Jones Show on Power Talk ninety
six seven and day. I'm fourteen hundred.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
Good afternoon, and thank you for joining us on the
Jody Jones Show. I'm Joji Jones and in studio as
always Frank Van Lanningham.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Hey, guys, what's up.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
We have a special guest here, Christina Lopez. She's been
in a licensed health and life insurance producer for over
eighteen years, and we are going to talk about medical, medicaid,
social security and she's going to explain to you what's
really going on with all that, and she's going to
talk about President Trump and the administration what they're really doing,
because what you hear from the mainstream media is basically
(01:16):
that you know, they're trying to cut all that.
Speaker 4 (01:18):
I'm always hearing that everybody's going to be thrown off
Social Security, We're going to starve Grandma, And to me,
this is nothing new. I remember Paul Ryan and Mitt
Romney pushing Grandma off the cliff in her wheelchair, and
I think we got a lot of fear mongering going on,
and how much actual truth is there? Are these just
talking points? I'm not sure.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Let's welcome our guest, Christine Steina Lopez.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
How are you, Hi, good, how are you? Thanks for
having me on the show.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
What the heck is really going on here?
Speaker 5 (01:45):
First of all, let me just briefly explain. We have medicaid,
we have medical, we have social Security, we have all
these terms. So medical specifically is the state sponsored program
of medicaid. Medicaid is what we use, or the federal term.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
And that's national right, right, right right.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
So medical when we talk about medical, we're talking specific
to California. So by no means is the Trump administration
going to cut Social Security, medical medicaids? Uh, It's just
not gonna happen. So what's medicare?
Speaker 3 (02:18):
What's really going on?
Speaker 4 (02:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Why is the media saying that?
Speaker 5 (02:21):
Then? Uh? Fear mongering? Yeah, he hit the nail right
on the head. Yeah, they are trying to scare people
away from voting for Trump, from uh being excited about
what he's doing. Obviously they're trying to just just collect
votes basically, is what they're.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
Trying to do. Right, And I'm gonna I'm gonna clarify
something here when when we say they, you know, it's
it's the liberal it's the Democrats, and it's it's the
far left, you know, CNN, MSNBC, Meet the Press. I
can go on and on and and all you hear
from them is how bad? Add you know? Orange Man is.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
Like they them? Now? Is that a collective pronoun?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
That?
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Don't need to learn that one now because I'm from
what confused? Yell?
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Right? So, Christine, I want you to talk about, you know,
the cost of medical medicaid and Social Security and what
they're really trying to tell us versus what's really happening
or what they're trying to cut.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Well, what they're going after is illegal fraud, waste, and abuse.
That's what they're going to cut. And Trump Advance have
clearly stated they're not going to eliminate medical they're not
going to eliminate Social Security, and they are not going
to eliminate Medicare. So it's really important that we understand
(03:47):
who we're hearing this from, people with a different agenda obviously.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yeah, you know, And what I say always is when
you hear the left talk about something, your intendas need
to go up because when they're when they're saying something
is bad, it's usually not bad. Or if they're blaming
somebody else's probably because if they're doing it and they
try to blame others for what they do, it's just
it's their emost the way they work, am I right?
Speaker 5 (04:13):
Mm hmm?
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Yeah, So hey, Frank, do you have a question for Yeah,
Trump Advanced they very clearly stated that they're going to
uncover and eliminate as much fraud, waste and abuse as
they can uncover, no matter where in government it exists.
Is that the truth or do they have a secret
agenda to disenfranchise and impoverish people.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
No.
Speaker 5 (04:35):
In reality, the straight answer to your question is, uh, no,
they are not going to eliminate I'm sorry, They are
going to eliminate fraud, waste, and abuse in America. That's
the illegal stuff that they're going after. In reality, they
understand that every American is benefiting from these programs. Every
(04:57):
American at some point in their life is going to
need some of these programs if they live long enough,
and they want to make sure that those benefits are going.
Speaker 4 (05:05):
To be there.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
You know, it's funny that you say it like that,
because Frank and I were actually talking this morning about medicaid,
medical and so security and all that and saying, you know,
when we're younger, you don't even think about that stuff.
You know, as you get older, you start really thinking
about you know, the medical the Medicaid, well, the Medicaid,
(05:25):
the Social security, you know, and and too long, our
Social Security has been kind of a dumping ground for
you know, our politicians to take from and they take
it and they pay everything else except for soial security,
and they give IOUs, oh we'll pay it back, we'll
pay it back, and we all know it's never paid
(05:46):
back ever. And when they take I want you guys.
To remember this everybody out there. When they take they're
taking from us, the taxpayer. The money that you're that's
taken out of your check is what they're taking, guys.
And this is what the Trump administration is trying to prevent.
All the fraud, all that they are trying to eliminate that.
(06:07):
So they're really protecting the American people. Guys. When Trump
does something and his administration is to protect the American people.
And when you hear from the left that you know,
those needs to be shut down, Musk is the enemy.
Trump's the enemy. They're not why because they want American
values back. They want American you know, they want Americans
(06:27):
to prosper, you know. And it's it's really super important
that we understand this. That's why I have you here
and I have a I have a quick question for you.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
Well, could I just say something real quick?
Speaker 3 (06:40):
Absolutely, absolutely.
Speaker 5 (06:41):
The problem is that if something is not done to
eliminate the fraud, waste, and abuse, these programs will not
be able to exist as they do today.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
So it's we need this very well said, and this
is why I have you on here, and you know,
that's why we have professionals like you guys, is.
Speaker 4 (06:56):
It going to be painful?
Speaker 5 (06:58):
Yeah, oh yeah, absolutely.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
Because the one thing that I keep coming back to
is whenever you've slid downhill and you want to go
back up, you're going to have to take the stairs.
There's no elevator, there's no escalator. And it seems to
me that we've done so many things systematically in this
country to put ourselves in this position, and now corrective
measures must be taken, and those corrective measures may or
(07:22):
may not be pleasant, and I'm sure not palatable and
to a pain adverse, risk adverse population, it's very difficult
to tell somebody it's time to march through the suck
because we don't want that. We want it easy, we
want it free, we want it fun, you know, and
that worries me. That's very well said, Frank. And you know,
we're living in a society. It's a now now society.
(07:46):
I want it now, I want it now. And if
you think about you know, Christina, you said it very
well that our kids will not have it in the
future if it continues, if this waste and fraud continues,
it will not have it right, you know, So you know,
and it blows my mind that every American is not
on board with this, like, hey, thank you, you know, Musk,
(08:10):
President Trump, thank you guys for you know, getting rid
of this. And it's you know, it's really sad, and
it really actually shows you how powerful, you know, the
fake media are.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
It is. It's just so so corrupt right now they
want you to believe that Musk and and Doge them
finding all this fraud are the bad guys. It's just amazing,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
It's just right, Chris, just getting rid of the fraud,
waste and abuse, and just these three programs will in
reality give the administration the ability to bolster the benefits
of Social Security. Seniors on Social Security and medicare not
to mention the people who really are in need of
the assistance that's offered through medical and other such programs.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Yeah, I mean, so just here in Cali there's like
what one one point nine million illegal aliens on medical right.
It's it's just amazing, and I want everybody out there
to realize it's legal now.
Speaker 5 (09:13):
Right, that's a simple Google search and you can find
that anywhere else.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
That's fact.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
Is it legal for that to happen structurally?
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Actually, it is just recently a bill was passed It's
Health for All SB nine.
Speaker 3 (09:28):
We've talked about that on the show.
Speaker 5 (09:29):
Yes, yeah, health were all offered. It was actually introduced
by Senator Ricardo Laura, who just not too long ago
was the insurance Commissioner, so that it was aimed to
remove immigration status as an eligibility exclusion for full scope medical.
Speaker 3 (09:46):
To me, it just it's it's amazing what can get
through California, and with the supermajority they have, they can
pretty much pass anything they want. Hey, you know, we'll
take a break and we'll talk about some fraud when
we come back.
Speaker 2 (10:01):

Speaker 2 (12:44):
The Jody Jones Show on Power Talk ninety six seven
and AM fourteen hundred.
Speaker 3 (12:49):
We are in studio with Christina Lopez. She is talking
about uh she's a licensed insurance professional, and we're talking
about medical, Medicaid and Social Security and what's really going
on with it. So, you know, Christina, we were kind
of talking about money and it wouldn't be here for
you know, our kids in the future. And I really
(13:11):
think that I believe that with my whole heart that
if Trump induged didn't come in and do what they're doing,
we would not see Social Security and these programs right right.
So you know, I know you have some statistics, right
I do. Yeah, why don't you let everybody kind of
know some statistics that was just going to blow people's
(13:33):
mind right now?
Speaker 5 (13:35):
Okay, So in California alone, one third of the population
are on medical and medical is the taxpayer funded medical
coverage for the very low income covered California is regular
health insurance, but it's at a reduced premium for most
people who have incomes that are over the Medicare I'm sorry,
the medical limit. And this is a taxpayer subsidizes health insurance,
(13:58):
and there are over Currently there are over one point
nine million middle income individuals and families in the state
on Covered California. This is also referred to as Obamacare
Affordable Care Act. So let me just give you an
example of how Covered California subsidies in medical work. So,
family of five, you have a mom and a dad,
three kids, with a household income of up towo one
hundred thousand. The kids would still qualify for medical the
(14:23):
parents would receive some kind of financial help of somewhere
between one thousand and thirteen hundred dollars to help pay
for premium. But if they are in if they are
offered like an employer insurance, they would not be offered
the subsidy. So if they decide to go on Covered California,
they would not have that extra subsidy to help pay
for the premium. But so right now, we have seventy
(14:44):
five million people on Medicaid in the entire United States.
That's including both adults and children. Thirty six million are
enrolled in the Obamacare, the Affordable Care Act. Okay, and
one point nine million of those are in California. So
you had just said, and so covered California being distinct
(15:06):
from medical, you had just said, We've got one point
eight million that are undocumented illegal aliens that are here immigrants,
whatever term you.
Speaker 3 (15:16):
Want to use, illegal aliens that are.
Speaker 5 (15:19):
Currently on medical. What do we do? You know? Where
are we going to pay for that?
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Yeah? So I have a quick question for you.
Speaker 4 (15:27):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Out of the money that's being paid to medical, is
it all being paid back in California or does the
Fed's help? How does that work? Is it fifty to fifty?
Speaker 4 (15:38):
What?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
What do we how is that it's fifty to fifty? Okay?
So I'm trying to put this into perspective for everybody.
So our medical bill for medical, the Feds pay fifty
percent and we, as California's pay fifty percent. So really
is a taxpayer you're paying more than fifty percent? Because
(15:59):
right fact, so you pay Yeah, you can hit twice.
Speaker 4 (16:02):
Yeah, And why would somebody hypothetically in North Carolina want
to foot the bill for an illegal aliend in California.
I don't see that as being in their best interest? Honestly,
what are your thoughts on this?
Speaker 5 (16:14):
Right? No, it's certainly not in their best interest.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
Would we like to pay for their undocumented people? We'd
say no, we're taking care of California. But yet I
see it as a bit piggish to ask other people
to pay a bill that truly does not belong to.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
Them, right, Right, So what's the underline? What do you
think is the underline behind the liberal media and the
Democrats communicating this false narrative?
Speaker 5 (16:41):
Just basically they're going for votes, right, I mean, what else?
It's a false narrative. They are not being truthful. They
are purposely promoting deceptive misinformation, right.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
And it's funny that you say misinformation. It's funny how
they like to redefine words. Right, it's not lying anymore, like, oh,
he's not lying, he just misspoke, misspoke. No, it's not.
It's lying because that's what the normal person says, you know,
and they have this uncanny way to do that. And then,
(17:18):
I mean, as a conservative person, when I hear these
people talk, usually I just I'm left to scratching my head, going,
what the heck did he just say?
Speaker 4 (17:29):
Absolutely? Right? Now, we all get it being in the
radio business that there are targeted demographics. The people that
are listening to this show tend to be a more
mature crowd, tend to be a smarter crowd. No offense
to the people that aren't listening, but they probably didn't
hear this, all six of them. But we tend to
have better economic demographics. What sort of demographics are they targeting?
(17:54):
Who is this disinformation aim towards? Because I don't think
people listening to us are completely buying their stuff.
Speaker 5 (18:01):
Sure, they're targeting anyone and everyone. They are specifically targeting
the most vulnerable, the most persuadable in our society, but
just basically it's anyone who is a recipient or would
be a recipient of these benefits social Security benefits, Medicare benefits.
First of all, they are targeting seniors, which are typically
(18:24):
Social Security recipients and Medicare beneficiaries. Second, they're targeting low
income individuals and families who depend on their medical for
their healthcare. Third, the lower to middle class whose families
just can't get ahead because of inflation, cost of living
in general, and forth, anyone else they can manipulate. You've
got veterans, you've got disabled, You've got elderly, you have
(18:47):
people in nursing homes. This is who they are targeting.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Scare tactics, scared tactics, Scare tactics, scare tactics. That's what
they want to do. They and they always try to
instill fear. I mean COVID. You know, it's a little
off the subject, but COVID scare, scare, scare, scare, scare
people in line. Let's make them sheeps. Let's make independent
instead of independent.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
But that is the number one motivator in sales. And
let's face it, media is sales. This is sales. It's
all about sales. And if I can scare you, I
can probably sell you something.
Speaker 3 (19:20):
Yeah, and that's that's a fact, you know. So So
bottom line, President Trump and his administration is not trying
to dismantle Medicare, Medicaid, social Security. They are not trying
to do.
Speaker 5 (19:34):
That, right, correct. And we haven't really even touched on
Medicare yet. That was just medical. So you've got you've
got Medicare and you look at you know, he is
going after illegal uh, the fraud, waste and abuse, that's
what he's going after. So he's got to go after
the illegal before he can get to the legal stuff
(19:56):
and and do these things need to be revamped. And
you know, U he's back together legally, yes, but right
now he's got four years. You know, he's not Superman.
You have to do what you can with the time
that you're given. So really he has to do what
he has with what's going on illegally, and then we're
(20:16):
in a better position to get these things that because, yeah,
when you're looking at California, you're looking at a Senate
bill that just passed that said we're not gonna we're
not going to say anything. If you're an undocumented citizen,
you can get on on our health insurance. Okay, well
that's now it's legal. So we've got to deal.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
With that legally in California.
Speaker 5 (20:37):
That will happen. That will happen later. But yeah, he's
just in order to protect you know, the benefits that
we have now, he's got to go after the egal illegal.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
I can stuff. I can really see President Trump stopping
funding federal funding to California and other Blue states are
that are doing this, and and you know what, I
stand behind him doing that. Will it hurt some people, Yes,
of course it will However, sometimes there is a necessary
(21:09):
destruction and there's going to be you know, friendly fire,
friendly casualties. However, keep this in mind, please, he will
not let them down. If he does cut something like
that and affects him, I guarantee you he will come
back and help. He needs to cut the fat before
he can do anything, Like you said, he has to
(21:31):
he has to identify the fraud. And then not only
identify it, now you have to deal with it. And
then when you deal with it, then what do you do.
You come back and and you you redo everything, right,
you know, And I don't think his I don't think
his goal is to redo everything and revamp everything. His
goal is to hit the fraud and cut the cut
(21:52):
the fat. And when I say cut the fat, that's
that's what it is. It's fraud. The fat is the fraud.
So so he's identifying that right now. He has a
lot of smart people doing that, you know. And you
hear the fake media talking about how young these people are. Well,
these young people are some of the smartest minds in America.
They are very intelligent, right.
Speaker 4 (22:14):
And I'll tell you the young people that are addressing this,
and the first thing we want to do is discredit
those people for addressing this. They have the most to lose,
in my opinion, and this is just me. Once upon
a time, when the entire system was pedaled to us,
there were thirty workers paying for each one collected. Now
(22:35):
we're at three to one. The paradigm has shifted inexorably,
and I believe from my business perspective, a bill that
can't be paid won't be paid. So structurally, we have
serious issues in this thing. And if we want to
have any resources at all to reallocate and keep this
thing alive for a little bit longer, keep it on
(22:55):
life support, the first thing we have to do is
cut the fraud out. And it's those young people that
are trying to save themselves. Basically, we'll all be dead.
We have about a minute left. Christian, what do you
think is the goal here? And what do you how
do you think it's going to get better real quick?
Speaker 5 (23:17):
First of all, people voting, you have to get out there.
It's your I mean I would say it's your burden,
it's your responsibility, but it's your privilege to vote, and
we need to do that.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
I don' vote Republican.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
Yeah, I mean, there's no other way to say it, right.
Speaker 5 (23:33):
Right, don't I don't care if you think the system
is failing. You need to continue to vote. It's the
right thing to do. So that that's what I would say,
is just get out there.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
I like that. It's the right thing to do. Vote Republican.
It's the right thing to do. I love it. That's awesome, Christina.
Thank you very much for coming in. And I know
we didn't we didn't have enough time to touch on everything,
but I think we got the just a and I
think everybody kind of understands it now. So thank you
very much, and for everybody out there. God bless you
(24:06):
and God bless America.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
Amen, Thanks, thank.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
You, Thanks folks, good things in God blessing. Thanks for
teaching us what we don't know. Now we can start
to get smart.
Speaker 5 (24:14):
Thank you guys.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
