Speaker 1 (00:21):
Good morning the big shows on the radio. Jerry grabbed
my phone. There buddy, Jerry Geffins from Lowe's Motor Speedway
in the studio with us this morning, getting ready for
race week.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
I gotta wait for him to put on his headphones.
I am gonna let him miss it.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
We had Jolie, we had sun, we had in this son.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
I wonder where that came from. There was a telephone
message left by Jerry that went like.

Speaker 1 (00:42):
This Wednesday, three pm.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
Hey Randy, Jerry giving you a call from Lowe's Motor Speedway.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
We had Jolie, we had yea in this sun. Anyway,
that's it. Talk to you that way.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (00:58):
You to accuse us of taking it out of context.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
I don't think so.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Randy edited edited that call up exact like we did.
Take you out of Harry was a suggestion we do
one hit Wonders one.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
It was national one Hit wonder Day and the next day.
And I was just trying to help Randy produce.

Speaker 5 (01:13):
And that is for Jerry is it was actually a
medley and we cut it.

Speaker 1 (01:21):
That boy wouldn't talk to him for all weekend. Dad,
What are you thinking?

Speaker 4 (01:24):
My seventeen year old was like why were you singing
to the man? And then I go into church Sunday morning,
I no more got my big butt in the pew,
and three people they heard.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
You sing on John Blow and Billy.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
And then this little lady goes up and says, my,
you got a good voice.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
You ought to be in the church choir.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
All those people at church heard you.

Speaker 3 (01:45):
What that means?

Speaker 1 (01:46):
He sits with the backslaph. Well, you're a good sport
with it. We appreciate you well, like we gave him
a choice. Yeah, I don't. It's gonna be fun, everybody said, Jerry.
Uh well, Jared Brown's here some frame John Boy and
Billy collectible Pole Night tickets for this October the Night

(02:07):
bo Jangles Poll Knight Love's Motor Spadeway. Thanks a lot,
Jerry will put this up here.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
No problem in the studio.

Speaker 1 (02:12):
Got big news.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
Today too for the u A w GM Quality five hundred.
We're going to announce a grand marshal that even beats
you out, John Boy.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Is that right? You're going announce it right now?

Speaker 6 (02:21):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:21):
I tell you all right. Carmen Electra is gonna.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
Come and be the Yeah, huh wow.

Speaker 3 (02:28):
I hope those same people in church aren't listening now.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Man, that's cool, you reckon. She'll be moving around Pole
night because that's why I will be out there. Why
not doesn't she always?

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Well, I think she's gonna get a lot of exposure
to track you.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Yeah, a long reputation hanging out with knuckleheads somebody.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, I knew her marriage to Dennis Rodman was short,
but it was actually I was doing research for the
release and seven days.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I took the courts a while exactly, yeah, and all
the stuff.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
But boys, I went on the internet and pulled up
some I don't want to know.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
I haven't enough trouble.

Speaker 4 (03:16):
We had, Julie, we had, we had.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
You think Carmen like to do a little duet. But yeah,
she's going to be a part of it.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
So it's gonna be big celebrity week next week between
the people coming for the Extreme concert and Carmen and
then we're getting ready announce maybe late today, the National
Anthem Singer is a Grammy Award winning rhythm and blues singer, so.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Big many Kansas weekend we're kicking it off.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
They're going to come.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
To the NASCAR Stars. Yeah, they're gonna be there. So
we're doing well. And I know if you're listening in
the Northern Territory, you know up above alask or whatever,
your probably thinking, what's too late to come.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
It's not. You can still come to race.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
We got tickets available and uh, we've got that super
ticket ninety nine dollars get you all four nights of
racing Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
Got joy And it was that ticket under the line.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
And then something new we just released this morning was
we have a couple sections opened up for family pricing
for forty nine dollars for adults and ten dollars for kids.
So it's a family thing and it's a there's no
restrictions on the alcohol. Some people confuse family grand stands
with family pricing, and I want people to understand that.

Speaker 1 (04:34):
So you can't bring your old drunk on. You can't.

Speaker 4 (04:38):
Lotus can come and come right in and slide in.
But those go and sale this morning, and I tell
you it's it's going well. We're up about sixteen percent
over last year.

Speaker 1 (04:46):
The night Billy poll Nut ticket.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
I think we're going to make the full contribution to
to our children's charities there, I mean with printed fifteen
thousand we've still got some left. But I think by
the time we get to Bojangles Poll that next Thursday,
we'll have those rascals gone and and do some good
for the community.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
And they're fun hanging them out.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
See, wrong answer, you're supposed to say better than.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Ever we usually it is. We're up like two hundred.
I didn't think you'd believe me, but it's up like
two hundred and six percent over the same time.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Believe that our pictures on. Come on, they want to
hear that you've been on this show before.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Two hundred and six percent. We did a press conference
as week, brought Rayford into for him to do his
check presentation from the auto fair. I don't know if
you know, but he sold a car at all and
thirty one hundred dollars and gave the sick and I said, well,
General Sadlers is out of the country. We needed some
old man to come to a press conference, so we
got Rayford. But but we now the media kind of

(05:40):
sat back in her chair. I said, I always give
a ticket up date, and I said, bo Jangles Poll
night is up two hundred and six percent, And then
they're like.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Whoa Jesus and I tell you, and for number for
the number four, all the tickets one eight hundred four
or five five fans. You got any deals on hotel
rooms left for people?

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Yeah, we've still got rooms in this area for seventy
nine dollars and our ticket agents helps hook you up
with the folks from rooms dot com. And so there's
no reason not to come. I mean, we've still got availability.
It's gonna be great eating up to night.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Do it up man first Saturday night running. You ain't
know your gym. Bought a five hundreds and my way
on that Grammy singer. Don't worry.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Jerry does have a Grammy, but she lives in Florida.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
Thank you, Jerry Good Ready to go raise somebody?

Speaker 7 (06:43):
Yes indeed, yes, indeed, thank you very much. Jered Gappins
for mentioning the contribution to the Victory Junction Camp thirty
one hundred dollars, that old sixty four broad all that
going to the camp. Very good, by the way, I noticed,
and I expect a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
Does the Speed.

Speaker 7 (06:59):
Network all over the country. I just wondered about that.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Yeah, it's nationwide Nations show on the on the charity,
I said.

Speaker 7 (07:06):
I saw that myself first time I'd seen it's running
a couple of times.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
Did you notice that some of those stops your check
was just as big as some of those stops.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
They didn't just off the selling your car, But every
bit helps.

Speaker 4 (07:18):
But I was like, ray for chimed right in here
and help because a lot of they had a lot
of two thousand and three thousand, five thousand dollars checks
at different stops at the right And uh, but yeah,
Kyle and Patty Petty, I mean, that's just an incredible
story and and it is and that I'm.

Speaker 2 (07:31):
Anxious see that thing get get built and go back up.

Speaker 7 (07:34):
Or well it will be you know, it'll be number
ten coming up this year. And uh, I've been on
every one of them looking forward to that every year.
You know, I say, well, I won't go let somebody
else go in my place, and they said, now you
got to go, and KYLEI get it on here on
the air and talk about it, and so we'll go.
But this year we'll be going to the Victory Junction
gang camp and be a big celebration up there.

Speaker 3 (07:53):
Fine, right right, that's right, that's great.

Speaker 7 (07:56):
So I'm sure they'll they'll show that every once in
a while on the speed It was very nice out
there in the West, out in Sedona and Santa Fe
and that part of the country. I like riding out
there in the West anyway, because you feel like John Wayne.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
You know that's a beautiful fact.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
Well, Jerry, I was going to do another letter to
the editor, but since we got into this, I suppose
I can save it for the next time. All right,
good because Randy says we're running short. I'm Randy, You're
just a monkey. Dishear grigs and I'm Robert d Ray
for John boydn Billy Show.

Speaker 1 (08:25):

(09:09):
Think it would help them morale of all the soldiers
love you show. Got the address there ready, take care
of that for the boys. Hello, I need some help please.
I work in an attorney's office and one of the
attorneys has had me searching for a segment you did
within the last few weeks. I think it's titled ten
Reasons why It's Good to be a Man. You can
direct me to that. It would be wonderful, makes the
morning's a lot smoother. Thanks for your help. That was Oliver. Oliver,

(09:30):
And the best way to go to that is the
Big Show dot com. If you sign up for a
Big Show Now, Big Show Now, and you go back
six weeks and All the segments are titled right and
they're ready to go. So anything happened on the show
like six weeks, you can do that. Yep. Might want
to go back and listen to Oh Chocolate and his
wife Karen's this old spouse quiz yesterday. You hear when

(09:52):
their marriage started falling apart on the air, So we'll
have that for SI. Layers have signed up just to
get a copy of that for DA.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
All right, let's say here what we got too. Oh yeah,
yesterday at this time I read a letter from astro
Nerd to you. Oh yeah, I remember that, and then yeah,
I kind of take you off of there's a voice
one jacket. You have a voice. Astro Nerd left me
a voicemail yesterday.

Speaker 3 (10:27):
Let's listen to it.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Hey, Johnny, this astro Nerd. How'd that go? Not too good.
I told you he would ban me from the building
if I did that, if that, if he if he
really banned me, give me a call. Okay, okay, let
me know.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Now. First of all, if you were really banned from
the building, should you really expect a call. Yeah, if
you're banned, you're not going to get a call back.

Speaker 1 (10:58):
So just judge the response gave you that letter. He'll
probably bare me from the building. No, you're van of course.

Speaker 5 (11:10):
What is he thinking that You're gonna hear that and go,
oh my.

Speaker 1 (11:12):
Gosh, I've screwed up.

Speaker 5 (11:13):
Hello, astronaut, I'm so sorry.

Speaker 1 (11:17):
We'll need you to turn in your propeller.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah, to anybody that leaves a note a voice smailed
a John boy expecting a return call, let me just
point out to you, I can't get him to call
me back when I have his paycheck.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
And by the way, astro nerd, we're gonna need you
to not come in on Saturday.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Yeah, and we want our stapler back, y'all.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
Hang on Easy Way to Win coming up in minutes.

(12:00):
looking for all the comers on that. All right, Colona
Ben's quiz, Bidley, what are we dealing with? Well?

Speaker 5 (12:06):
A Catholic church official announced to the world this week
that Pope John Paul is not long for this world.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Really, the world said, you think he's getting on up there?
All right, well, let's deal with it. We play Colonel

look cold down there to beach, ain't it. It's gonna
be a nice weekend though, man, Yes, oh yeah, alright, Darrell.
Let's get your weakness art early with happiness. Listen to

(14:19):
Biddley Well.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Darrel, an Austrian member of the Roman Catholic College of Cardinals,
says Pope John Paul desperately needs the prayers of the
faithful around the world, and that the eighty four year
old pontiff is in the last days of his life.
One sure sign the Pope is on the decline is
a that he's looked so frail in public appearances. B

(14:42):
that his speech is often slow and halting. Or see
at the Auto Fare in Rome, he auctioned off the
first popemobile, a sixty four Chevelle station wagon.

Speaker 6 (14:58):
Alright, Darrel, well, I'm glad I'm not canceling, but it's
got to be sea for castles.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
In fact, interestingly, left, we have some tape of the
Pope appearing at the Auto fare in Rome. All right,
let's hear it. Helleujah, halleluja. You're in the auction to
poe ground. A microphone started telling.

Speaker 8 (15:20):
Embody what was wrong with us, lord, because we think
actually Rayfer looks like the Pope.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
All right, now you got a big old prize baggage, buddy,
and you qualify for the v I P trip Atlanta.
We draw one week from the day.

Speaker 7 (15:38):
All right, time color don't boy?

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Oh right, you did good. Actually we called you, so
you need to move us. Robert D.

Speaker 7 (16:02):
Rayford Letters to the Editor Day brings many this week,
and so far not one on the Limbaugh Imbrodio. He's
remaining uncharacteristically silent issues statements from second and third parties.
And did anyone notice Jim Lehrer, who anchors the PBS
Evening News Hour, didn't even know how to pronounce Limbaugh's name,
called him Limbaugh or something like that should have been limbo,

(16:25):
because that's where Limbaugh is in. Now he's in limbo.
Many are saying what I said yesterday, that this Limbaugh
matter is Jimmy the Greek all over again. And I'd
add to that, it's William Bennett all over again. Bennett,
you know, the holier than thou far right crusader for
clean living and family values, has been in limbo since
it was discovered that he was addicted to gambling in

(16:46):
a big way. Now we discover that Limbaugh, another far
right champion of clean living and attacks on drugs and
the lascivious left, is being investigated for being a pill junkie.
Big time. Will Limbaugh, like Bennett, fade away. Don't hold
your breath onto the letters. This one written by hand
and in pencil from George Kennedy and Baulauville, North Carolina,

(17:08):
wherever that is. Mister Rayford. First of all, let me
say that anyone or everyone that knows me would be
much surprised to learn that I have written to you.
I usually turn off the radio when your segment comes on,
mostly because I find you a conceited old fart to
my particulars. I'm a fifty nine year old male, been

(17:30):
married three times. Well, mister, I got you beat on
that one, and have traveled all over the USA plus
many neighboring countries. Fourteen years ago, I moved back to
North Carolina, my birth state. But the thing is, let's
see read on down here. What's bothering him? Talking about
TV in the computer was supposedly meant to benefit mankind.

(17:52):
I find that to be a blatant lye Email and
short electronic polls have robbed us the reading public of
our voice and everyday life and politics. I now receive
and read daily newspapers, weekly and monthly magazines, listen to
the radio, and watch news and political programs on TV.

(18:12):
But I cannot rebut them on anything because I do
not own a computer to send them email. These papers, magazines,
and electronic viewing and listening stations have shut down my
choice to agree or disagree simply because I can't email PS.
Maybe I'm becoming at old fart could be all right,

(18:37):
got a whole bunch of other letters here. Here's somebody.
I'll tell you about the fellow there who sent me
four and a half pages talking about the plight of
veterans these days. Even includes a petition to the United
States Congress. I guess he wants me to sign that, mister.
I don't sign petitions, don't get on committees, and not
a joiner. Lives too complicated nowadays without getting involved in

(19:00):
things like that. I just remain old. Curmudget at Large,
Robert d Rayfer, John Boy and Billy Show.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Good morning, everybody's a big show on the radio. Come
up just a few minutes, Jim ZOCHI gonna preview NFL
Action this week on Open Line. Today Matt Yogum live
from Kansas. Bush Boys Qualifinal Speed Channel this afternoon at
two thirty. Cup Boys take the track at four. Get
the line up for the raising Kansas. Of course we'll
have to win her on money. Matt today on Oakum Line,
oh Yo, Yokum line.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
All right, get all right?

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Coming up next, Lipless's latest effort. We'll find out. Good morning,

(20:10):
The big show is on the radio. See what Liveless
is up to these days as he tries to find work.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
Big Show Electronics presents the ultimate automotive upgrade, gone Star,

can on.

Speaker 6 (20:44):
Listen?

Speaker 1 (20:45):
I'm on any five sons about ten miles from Columbia.

Speaker 6 (20:48):
My house is having chest pains.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
What do I do?

Speaker 1 (20:50):
Oh?

Speaker 5 (20:51):
H around?

Speaker 1 (20:52):
I want to walk you right through. I want to
walk you RIGHTO, walk you right? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (21:01):
What if you have a medical emergency on the road,
Gone Star can make contact with local authorities in seconds.

waring on here. We're all it huddling.

Speaker 8 (21:16):
Oh what's that?

Speaker 9 (21:19):
Having paint?

Speaker 1 (21:20):
How we hit? Hay? Excuse me, hay? Raise your hell?
Waited waters home?

Speaker 4 (21:27):
Do?

Speaker 1 (21:27):
What about the heat? Hey? Hey, hey, hey all what Hangley?
What what?

Speaker 5 (21:37):
Gone Star ivaid a little bit, Big Block, Sam's Club,
Circle K and better truck stops everywhere.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
We're here. Hell, I'm sorry what was that? Hell?

Speaker 4 (21:45):
We're here of Hell?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
Good morning. The Big Show is on the radio coming
up next and kay a lot of Panthers Network and
the Big Show jam Zokie previewing NFL Action this weekend.
Hang on what good next? The Big Show is on

(22:22):
the radio. Don't matter funny Buddy's moving around killing me.
He's live Adulting Shipping Center, Opera House, Doltan, Alabama Tomorrow
night seven thirty. Gets you think it's their Scott Engrave
entertaining the Elystic Club and see Moore Johnson Air Force
Basing Goldsbor Tomorrow night at nine by Dan Friday morning.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Every Friday, it's time Madays time.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
For Okay, Okay, Sozo so Man's okay, gem Zulkie. Are
you being NFL Action this weekend? Jim, Let me ze
some games at you ain't gonna beat the good ones
and say what you think about Buddy, Miammy and New

(23:07):
York Giants.

Speaker 10 (23:08):
Yeah, both teams two and one, although the Giants have
struggled on defense, dead last in the NFL and defense
despite the fact they're two to one, so they've been
getting by so far, and they got to deal with
Ricky Williams, who had the week off to rest after
carrying the ball forty two times beating Buffalo on that
Sunday night game a couple of weeks ago. But the
Giants concern they're giving up the most parts passing yards
in the air every week as well.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
So it could be a good stop for Miami this
week against the New York Giants. Looking at Denver and
Kansas City.

Speaker 10 (23:34):
Yeah, good rivalry game. And these are two four and
oh teams. Only a couple of these left in the
NFL now, and Clinton Porta says he'll play. He missed
last week with a chest injury, and last week he
tore up the Chiefs. He had last season. I should
say he had five touchdowns in the two games against him.
So this is probably the premier, premier game of the
weekend with both teams being four to oho and Dante Hall.
We talked about him, the Chiefs kick returner, first player

(23:55):
in NFL history to return kickoffs for touchdowns in three
consecutive games.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
I' see if you can make it for winning row
this week. So he's still sticking with Kansas City, I
think so. Yeah, we're playing at home New Orleans and
the undefeated Carolina Panthers and ericson stadium. That sounds good now.

Speaker 10 (24:10):
The last year they were three and oh two, though
the Panthers were and then the Wheels came off they
last eight in a row. But this is a different
Panthers team this year, with Steven Davis running the ball.
The offensive line looks a lot better, and the Saints
looked dreadful last Sunday night, losing fifty five twenty one
to Indianapolis. So Jake Delum going against his former team
and the Saints loaded with injuries. They got nine guys
out for this week's game, so it should be a

(24:31):
good spot for the Panthers at home against the Saints
this weekend.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Seattle and Green Bay, it's like reunion weekend. I mean
a couple of these games.

Speaker 10 (24:38):
Mike Holmgrim, who had led the Packers to the Super
Bowl title following the ninety six season, faces his former
team and for the first time since he's left.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
The Seahawks look good.

Speaker 10 (24:45):
They're three and oh Meanwhile, Green Bay is two and
two and they haven't played anybody real good so far.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
To get the two and two.

Speaker 10 (24:51):
It's no longer Brett Farve's team is really I'm on
Green that runs the offense there. He had one hundred
and seventy six yards on Monday night. And for the
Packers it gets tough. I mean they played three and
oh c here and they got Kansas City undefeated. Minnesota's
undefeated come up the next couple of weeks as well,
so that the Packers need to tighten things up here.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
Now, looking at Arizona and Dallas, the can we say
they're surprising Dallas Cowboy?

Speaker 10 (25:11):
Yes, I think saying you Bill Parcells, he just wins
everywhere he goes, whether you like him or not. In
another reunion game, Emmett Smith, the NFL's career rushing leader,
goes back to Irving, Texas to face his former team,
the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (25:22):
Here.

Speaker 10 (25:22):
Meanwhile, Dallas off back to back road wins under Bill Parcells.
So he's quickly turning them around. And Emmett obviously waived
in the offseason, not the player he used to be.
He's averaging under fifty yards per game for the Cardinals,
so he's probably in his final season.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Now you think they go feed it to him because
he's I'll give him a chance.

Speaker 10 (25:38):
I don't know that he'll get very far when he
gets fed get the football enough times. Looking at Detroit
and San Francisco another one of those games. Steve Mariucci
fired by the San Francisco forty nine Ers at the
end of last year. A lot of it had to
do with the fact he wasn't getting along with trell Owens,
the star wide receiver for the forty nine Ers. Well,
terrell Owen still isn't getting along with anybody in the
San Francisco organization. They're struggling. They're one and three. Mary

(26:00):
Ucci's got a rebuilding job. He's inherited with the Lions,
they are also one and three. So the Marquis is
at Marucci going back to San Francisco to face his
former team and the lines.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
An eighteen game losing streak. What a way to end
it if they could against San Francisco this week. All right,
Washington and Philadelphia, who is rush picking? Rush is uh Russia?

Speaker 10 (26:20):
Go with what the media in general says now Rush
Limbaugh resigning from ESPN for his comments that the media
is backing Donovan McNabb. They want to see a black
quarterback succeed. Shouldn't be fired for racism. He should be
fired for stupidity to think the media could get together
and collaborate on anything. All got together and said, you
know that Mike Vicki's not that good, but let's just

(26:41):
say he is, because that would be good for the
socioeconomic structure of our country.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
So being part of the football media, you're calling duty only, Yeah,
I would think so.

Speaker 10 (26:49):
I think the experimentation of having the Dennis Miller Rush
Limbaugh types, maybe this will we'll bring it to an
end and we.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Don't try to do news now they shouldn't try to
do sports.

Speaker 2 (26:57):
And I understand the reason that Rush actually resigned is
because of the pressure that was put on his fellow
co workers for.

Speaker 1 (27:05):
Not responding it up right.

Speaker 10 (27:07):
And that's the media firestorm that surrounded all of it,
and that they were working in an environment where it
was just difficult to continue working, so he stepped out.
He has never really apologized or back down from his statement,
which was ignorant in idiotic to begin with.

Speaker 1 (27:18):
It really doesn't apply to football or media as being correct.
And I heard somebody say, well, I think a football player.
I can't remember who it was. We said, you know,
the cameraman. Somebody should have should have said something like that,
but usually camera guys don't holler out, you know. They
kind of frowned on that. So in Lou have got
the cameraman got fired for.

Speaker 7 (27:38):
This week.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
So Washington Philadelphia is gonna be a good game.

Speaker 10 (27:41):
Redskins are now three and one. So Steve Spurger's got
things going there with the Redskins, and they've shown they
don't only have to pass the ball, they can win
by running the ball, because he's been known that Florida
and in his first year in Washington for just throwing, throwing, throwing, but.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
They can run.

Speaker 10 (27:53):
And Philadelphia finally got back on track after dropping their
first two games, obviously inspired by Russia's comments.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
McNab bounce back with a good game after that pregame show.
All right, all right, Jim, thank you, that's all right.
You got this weekend. We'll check what you money morning
in that read you the game, Hie day. Let's get
your final news, weather and sports. Roberty Rayford raids and
we getting ready to go to Mayberry and our classic
bed in the morning and Matt Yogam live from Canada.

Speaker 7 (28:29):
Oh, Roberty rayfit last gasp of gas for this morning.
Randy I could say I have nothing to say and
then sign it off, and then you'd be back on time,
and you'd be back on time. That's what you know.
I've always thought that that's what the news people, especially
the local TV newspeople, what they ought to do. They
come on with the big bang and now I witness knew,

(28:50):
no no, and the camera would come on and the
anchor guy would say, I have nothing to say. Then
he turned to the woman, always a woman, and she'd
say I have nothing to say. And he turned to
the weather person and he'd say I have nothing to say,
and a turn to the sports guy and he'd say
nothing to say, and that would be the perfect local

(29:13):
TV news because then they'd go to pop our cartoons
or something. So so let me just say, in spite
of the fact that I have reams and reams of
things that listeners send here on letters to the edit today,
I'll just say thanks to everybody who sent the words
to step it up and go, I've got that. Got
a whole lot for that. In one of these days,
I'm gonna sing it for you, Yes, sir, Now that's

(29:36):
short enough, Rennie, I have nothing else to say.

Speaker 2 (29:39):
Well, I mean, it's a record for a guy who
had nothing to say. It took you a minute in
ten seconds.

Speaker 7 (29:42):
To say, okay, I'll see you Monday. Robber Dy Ray
for John Boyn Billy Show.

Speaker 1 (29:50):
Good Morning, A big show is on a radio and
a five hour ride Friday morning broadcast. Keith King, bicycle
stunt expert playing the Cleveland County Fair through the weekend
and to see again. Keith, there's your budge you got
in here with.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
You got Austin Hardy and Troy Hardy.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
Here there is a Troy is down when we gave
away to dodge truck at Daytona five hundred last year. Right,
a man trying to try to slip me his name
to draw it.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
Huh hey, last time Keith was in my brother actually
gave me a grief. You had a bicycle stunt guy
there and you didn't have him to do any stunts.
You know it's a radio show, right, So wait a minute,
this is for my brother, all right, Keith gohad and
doing well.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Look at the sixties. Yeah you enjoy it, brother, I
was no handed to. He's good, amazing a ya. So
coming up we're gonna go to Maybury. Jackie's gonna pick
me somebody out who has challenged me, and we'll do
it for a pair of boots on the Georgia Boot
Company College Him Wilson's late of CD super Bad Sounds

(30:50):

Speaker 9 (32:13):

Speaker 1 (32:19):

You want to say hey to some folks before we

Speaker 9 (32:24):
Yeah, they have the guys at Elite car Rental are
all listening, Tommy, they're sitting right here. And the guys
from Johnson ALERTA who better have me bed wives already
when I get down to the White Horse party shop
this afternoon.

Speaker 1 (32:35):

Seventy six, seventy six is correct? Right tune and nothing done?
Oh boys, put the Budweiser back.

Speaker 9 (33:46):
Oh next, multiple choice?

Speaker 1 (33:49):
There are multiple choice joys.

Speaker 6 (33:52):
Okay, all right, girl, toughie.

Speaker 5 (33:54):
In the first years of the show's running syndication, it
was known by what time was it Sheriff Andy life
in Maybury or Andy of Mayberry?

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Sorry, Don, Andy of Mayberry? That is correct? Follow in
a scump too, I.

Speaker 9 (34:13):

Speaker 5 (36:31):
He finally got the lance out of his friend.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
Yeah no.

Speaker 1 (36:34):
US Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge picked Pat to help
advise him on state and local security issues. It's going
to be sworn in as a member of Bridges Homeland
Security Advisor Committee when the group meets in Detroit today.
So that's that's pretty cool man Le McCrory.

Speaker 8 (36:51):
Of course, you know his quote was I need a
real melon head, a real scapegoatstuff and he'll never see
him coming.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Get me. McCrory. He's got a lasting I ran in
the Pat and former mayor of Charlotte Dareport a couple

Speaker 5 (38:36):
It's like it's like the Mousketeers and all of a
sudden Roy jumps out there.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
To do the leading. I told you I read every
letter that is mailed here to the Big Show, and
we we appreciate you. You rest assured of that, even
though we don't get to all of them on on
the radio. Okay, here's one.

Speaker 6 (38:54):
Open it up.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
There's a copy of picture of a mug shot of
Jeffrey Newton.

Speaker 5 (39:00):
If you've ever sent your mugshot and a fan letter
to the big ship.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
Well look at this. Here's a copy of his arraignment
waiver form and the copy of your arraignment waiver form.
So let's see what Newton Jeffers charged with. Oh boy,
that's what does say. It was from Scott State Prison
in Hardwick, Georgia. Sie dui fleeing and fluedging, fludging, Oh

(39:33):
my gosh, felony, aggravated assault, no insurance, no tag, reckless driving.
All right, let's go to the law of my life.
Why don't you fight about it there, John boyn Billy.
As you can see, you have received another letter from
one of your captivated listeners. I wanted to write to

(39:54):
let y'all know that not all prisoners are mean and dangerous.
Some are merely stupid. After reading this, you will probably
want to call Jimmy Spencer and tell him to look
for a new nickname, because you have found the real
mister excitement. My story begins on a beautiful July day

(40:15):
in nineteen ninety five. I decided it was too nice
a day for work yet too hot to fish, so
I opted to relax in the air conditioning, watch them
TV and enjoy a few cold beers. Several hours and
about a case of beer later, I decided that it
was critical that I replenish my beer supply, and I

(40:37):
was not going to be I was not going to
let such minor details as not having a car or
driver's license to term me. Someone was nice enough to
allow me to use their nineteen seventy six Dodge that
had no tag, bald tires and a six cylinder engine
to make my beer run in. Upon learning I'm sorry,

(41:00):
on leaving the local convenience store, a police officer got
behind me and hit the blue light. As you may know,
large quantities of beer tend to raise the testosterone level
while lowering the intelligent question in the typical male drinker.
So I decided the race was on. How did this go?

(41:26):
You asked? Well, not too good. A twenty year old
Dodge with a six cylinder and ball tires is not
the car of choice for this type of activity. But
I figured what I lacked in horsepower I could make
up for with my driving prowess, and besides, you've got

(41:50):
to run with what you're brought. To the Troyes. I
jumped out to an early lead, but my competition quickly
closed the gap. He attempted to pass me on the
low side. He darned sure wasn't gonna go high, but

(42:11):
I successfully blocked the pass and he had to fall
back in line as we approached the turn. Took the
air off the spoiler.

Speaker 3 (42:20):
No debt.

Speaker 1 (42:21):
I lost it about halfway through turn one and put
her into the wall. Actually it was a ditch, but
it worked just as well, and I tell you Spencer
couldn't have done it any better. Ever, the quick thinker,
I decided that this would be a good time for
a foot race, so I quickly put Plan B into action.

(42:49):
How did this go, you asked, Well, being the beautiful
day that it was, I was wearing flipflops and this
is not the ideal footwear for a race, especially when
the participant wearing flip flops is also drunk. At the

(43:11):
end of the foot race, I decided a wrestling match
wasn't order Slammerrie. But unfortunately for me, the Cavalry had
arrived by this time and they entered the match without
being tagged. As you can probably tell from the mugshot,

(43:32):
the wrestling match didn't turn out too good either. However,
I did feel somewhat vindicated after I puked in the
backseat of Dick Tracy's squad car. I really did. Now
two years later, I'm about to make it home from
my beer run. I have learned a few things from this,

(43:55):
and that is a never drive anything with six cylinders
and bald hires, be always wear a good pair of shoes,
and see bye beer by the keg. You know the
saying life is short, play hard. Uh Okay, give my
best to Jackie and Rayford, and tell Randy I hope
he makes it back soon. This was when you were

(44:17):
out right. I know how it is because I quite
often missed a lot of work when I had lingerie
in my mouth. I don't know you all keep them
straight up there, love you mean it. Signed Dale, Darryl Walter,
Richard Petty, Rusty Hawsonville Irban Gordon, Earn Hart Smith Johnson Junior.

(44:51):
Good morning, y'all. The big show is on a radio
coming up next. Boy, Matt Yoakum covers all the NASCAR
races all year long on the television Kansas Speedway. We'll
talk to Matt in just a second. Good morning, it's

(45:31):
a big show on the radio, he says, I want
that baby. Okay, Well, I got time right quick, Killebe.
He's playing Dothan Civic Center Opera House, Dothan, Alabama, tomorrow night,
seven thirty BM one Show Only, Scott Engrave, England's Funniest
Export playing the Enlistic Club, and Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Goesboro,
North Carolina tomorrow at nine pm. He loves some Special

(45:53):
Forces hollers yaw boy, Yeah so do that?

Speaker 3 (45:55):
Yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (45:57):
Tim Wilson playing the comedience on the Charlotte, North Carolina Right.
Let's ay hey from Kansas Speedway, How buddy Matt yogame online?

Speaker 6 (46:04):
Hello Matt Hey, Happy Friday, guys.

Speaker 1 (46:07):
I'y Friday to you, buddy. How's everything in Kansas?

Speaker 6 (46:10):
Well, it's a little overcast right now, a little gray
and cloudy looking, sprinkled a little bit ago. But I
think we're gonna be just fine. As far as Bud
Pull qualifying leader today on speed.

Speaker 2 (46:20):
I can't wait till next week when we talk to him,
when we get to say you're not in Kansas anymore.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
That's right, Matt. You're gonna get into studio with us,
aren't you.

Speaker 6 (46:28):
Yeah, gonna come on now now? The last time I
was there, and I don't know if you can duplicate
my excellent experience that I had last time. But I
believe that Brett Bodin was there and he had some
people with him.

Speaker 1 (46:39):
Yes, that would be the Hooter girls. That correct. Well,
I tell you what, I might not be able to
get Brett, but I can hook it with some Mooter girl.

Speaker 2 (46:46):
Yeah. Well, there we go, not here because they're banned
from the building.

Speaker 6 (46:51):
Oh now, John boy I really I hate to start
off our little segment here, but I really do want
to apologize.

Speaker 1 (46:58):
Okay, I felt bad.

Speaker 6 (46:59):
For out the last two and a half days for
what buddy. Well, you know, last time I called in,
uh you know, I kind of ripped on Jerry Gappin's
singing ability and I said it was the worst that
I'd ever heard. And I really want to apologize to
Jerry because I heard something on Wednesday on your show
that was just I thought, you know, it was like,
you know, someone had thrown a cat into a blender

(47:22):
or something. And more specific, well, I heard John Boyce
sounded like he was in the bathroom and I couldn't
believe you got a mic in the bathroom. Oh there
you go, open mic night will never be the same.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
Oh man, I've been happy to sing that for you.

Speaker 7 (47:45):
Man.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
What's excited about race week here? You know it was
always a big time.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
When says he, of course means he.

Speaker 6 (47:54):
Well, you know, hey, a big week next week with
that primetime race in Charlotte Saturday night and a big
one here this weekend Kansas. Jeff Gordon trying for a
history making run. Nobody has ever won three straight at
a race track, meaning the first three races held there,
the King came close back in the sixties with a
first or first and the third, and so Gordon, you know,

(48:16):
he's got to seeing cars one of the last two
years here with so you know, he would obviously be
one of the favorites, but so is Ryan Newman, who's
finished second the past.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
Two years here. And the thing about I guess I
can use the same setup.

Speaker 6 (48:27):
Well, you know they're going to start out that way
in practice. And you know when you look at this
race track, it's you know, still pretty green, only two
years of racing on it. And you know, you know,
being listening on the radio around here, I mean people
around here are so rabbit as far as the racing
being here it's a lot like in Charlotte, you know.
I mean, it's it's like a month of speed, even
though really it's only a week. And that's how excited

(48:48):
the fans are here. And I can't wait to get
back home next week though, for that big week of speed.

Speaker 1 (48:53):
That's it man, so so Jeff Gordon going for it.
Be another record for one.

Speaker 5 (48:57):
The boy well, it's just one.

Speaker 6 (49:00):
Of many for his stout racing resume. And you know
those guys, you know, last two weeks, they've I talked
to Robbie Loomis a little bit ago in the garage.
He's like, you know, we've kind of got back some
of that momentum and we couldn't pick a better place
to kind of keep that momentum alive for at least
another week, you know. Two straight wins here and like
I said before, they've got that car. But a lot
of guys though, had really started to come out of later.

(49:21):
I mean Terry Labonni Yeah, I mean that team tenth
in points, they've got the car, they won with it
Darlington here. I talked to Jim Long. They're really excited
and you know a lot of guys really want to
end the final weeks here on a good note before
we start two thousand and four, because you know, if
you end the year on a good note, you hopefully
try to carry that momentum into the new year. And
that's what Matt Kenseth did. I mean, yeah, he had

(49:43):
an engine DNF at Homestead, But those wins last year,
I mean that those guys really came out of the
box fire and it really shows all year long.

Speaker 1 (49:51):
So I don't know what you heard this matter if
you're in town. The birdman picked Matt Kenzwith to win
the championship this year and then then he went, that's right,
So yeah, so he must know what he's talking about.
I mean, Matt would really have to have to mess up.
I mean, he would really have to have some bad
luck to blow this lead right here.

Speaker 6 (50:09):
Well, I mean he would have to have some big
time bad luck. And for a team that I mean,
they've slid through the pitch at Daytona, ran out of
gas at Daytona. Different things have happened throughout the year,
but they've always been able to capitalize on bad stuff.
When when they have a bad day, meaning a fourteenth
Kevin Harvick you know, blows up or or has a
bad run or Jimmy Johnson you know, crashes or blows up.

(50:30):
