Speaker 1 (00:00):
Can't. I am six forty. You're listening to the John
Cobel podcast on the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
I'm like a cat with a toy when I go
up against a corrupt politician, because you know, it's not
like the media. It's not like the traditional mainstream media
in California holds the people in power accountable for their failures.
And so you've given me a privilege. Yeah, even if
(00:26):
I don't represent you in the State Assembly, even if
you're not from the seventy fifth Assembly District, the district
I represent in San Diego County, I know many of
you have supported me through reform California, and so I'm
your voice, and I hope that I'm doing a good job.
I hope that you appreciate and agree with the fight
(00:48):
that I'm waging in Sacramento. We've got a lot to
get to today. I also want to invite you to
use the iHeartRadio app talk back feature to ask me
any question question. Remember, I'm in the belly of the beast.
I go behind closed doors and I see these corrupt soobs,
(01:08):
these liars, cheats and thieves. Oh yeah, I'm not talking
about just garden variety criminals. I'm talking about the people
who are in office political office. I see what they
are doing. I see the broken and corrupt system up close,
and I will spill the beans. I will answer your
question without any hesitation about who I tick off. So
(01:30):
use the iHeartRadio app ask a question or sound off
on any issue of importance to you. We're going to
talk this hour about the ten top ten, the top
ten worst new laws in California that were just signed
into law by Governor Gavin Newsom. And do you understand
how hard it is for me to put this list together?
(01:51):
Do you understand how much competition there is for bad
bills bad laws in California. It's like, how do you
pick just the ten? I mean it's like, you know,
pick which one of your kids you love the most. Well,
I love them all, but yeah, we have multitudes of
bad bills, bad new laws that Gavin Newsom just signed
(02:14):
into effect. He signed over eight hundred new laws into effect,
eight hundred for just the last nine months that the
legislature met. And most of them are terrible laws. But
I'm going to try to focus on ten that you
really need to know about that are particularly galling and
(02:34):
bad and damaging. Before we get into that, though, you
can fixate on public policy issues like the cost of living,
the fact that our fire insurance is being canceled, the
highest priced gas in the country, the crime wave, homelessness, skyrocketing,
(02:54):
schools failing our kids, biological males being allowed to you know, basically,
you know, compete unfairly in girls sports. You can take
a look at all of these issues, but you know
what the fundamental problem is in California. It's not those issues.
Although those are appalling and terrible and frustrating and you know,
(03:16):
negatively impacting you, those are really a symptom of a
bigger problem. You know what the bigger problem is. We
have a corrupt and broken political system, and I need
you to see that that is the fundamental center of
gravity that we must be focused on in our battle
to take back our state. It's not oh, how do
(03:37):
we reduce the cost of living? Yeah, we have to
figure that out, and it's not hard because if you
just benchmark against the average state in the nation in
terms of what their taxes or regulations or mandates or
charges or fees are, you will get immediate costs of
living relief in California So the problem is not or
the difficulty is not how do you drive down prices,
(03:59):
how do you improve public safety, how do you get
people off the street who are homeless, how do you
educate kids so that they get a quality education. None
of that really is the difficult part. The difficult part
is how do you get politicians to do the right thing.
How do you stop the special interests from fleecing average
(04:24):
Californians on a day in, day out basis courtesy of
the politicians, Because that's what's happening. We have a corrupt
and broken political system. And no that's not hyperbole. That
is the fundamental diagnosis of what ails California. And there's
(04:48):
a number of ways that we can clean up the corruption.
But one of the best ways get fair elections. Because
if you don't have fair elections, then politicians can continue
to do a lousy job and not worry about being fired.
And let me tell you right now, these politicians don't
care about anything. They don't care about your letters, your calls.
(05:12):
You fly up to Sacramento, you go to a public
hearing at an Assembly or state Senate committee, you wait
three hours to testify before the committee, and they don't
even let you say anything but your name. You get
to stand in line for three hours so you can
go up to a microphone and say, my name is
(05:33):
Ray Lopez and I'm opposed to such and such a bill.
That's all You're able to say your name and that
you're opposed. That's it. You don't get to say why.
You don't get to ask the politicians tough questions. You
don't get to present testimony or evidence or data. No
(05:53):
name and position on the bill, yes or no. That's
all you get to say. Sorry, man, you gotta sit down,
all right. Sergeants, drag her out of here, treat her
like a criminal. We don't actually go after real criminals.
But if you dare try to say anything more than
your name and whether you're four against a bill. After
(06:14):
waiting for three hours and flying up to Sacramento to
try to have your voice heard in your legislature, you
are literally dragged out of the capitol and arrested if
you do anything on the way out. This is why
the ten bills I'm about to go through are so bad.
But back to the best reform we can have to
(06:39):
fix the problem of corruption and government. We gotta have
fair elections, so that the politicians can't protect themselves from accountability.
The only language they speak is at the ballot box,
and if they lose their election, that is the message
that they hear, or if one of their colleagues loses
an election. Everything else, your letters, your calls, your emails.
(07:06):
They don't give a rip about what you have to
say because they've got dark money, special interest pack money
from the lobbyists that they use to put out phony
mailers and fake lies. My opponent is going to kill you.
And they are aligned with Donald Trump, and they are
(07:26):
racist and a homophobe. They hate young kids. But of
course you're talking about a politician who's given black and
brown kids the worst schools, hurt working families with the
highest cost of living, put their lives in jeopardy with
criminals roaming the streets, put grime in their community, with
(07:49):
a homeless epidemic. So the politicians are about how do
they prevent you from throwing them out of office. Part
of that is Prop fifty, the jerry mandering bill that's
on the special election this November fourth. You only have
two weeks to return your ballot. I need you to
(08:10):
do it now, now, now, now, vote no on Prop fifty.
If you let politicians draw the lines, there will be
no account of ability. Here's the other thing, California, vote
a righty. And that's where I have amazing news. We've
been in signature collection for the last three weeks and
(08:31):
we finally got the tally for the first two weeks
of signatures, and it is so amazing. Couldn't you use
some good news as a common sense Californian. It's been
a really rough patch, but I got some good news
for you, and then I'm going to talk about the
ten worst new laws in California that Gavin Newsom just
signed in. Plus take your questions on the iHeartRadio app
(08:52):
talk back feature, So please sound off and ask questions
using that app. All that and more. As Carl to
My fills in for John co Belt on KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
You're listening to John coblt on demand from KFI AM sixty.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
Carl Demos sitting in for John co Belt, and we're
going to get to the top ten worst laws that
were just signed in, the new laws signed into effect
by Governor Gavin Newsom. But first some good news. The
California voter ID initiative signature drive is underway. We've we've
(09:31):
been underway since October first, and so technically we're at
three weeks. But the first two weeks of signatures we've
already been able to count and we've got some amazing news. Now,
don't let it go to your head, all right, this
is good news, but we need a million signatures, a
million signatures from registered voters to put this on the ballot.
(09:56):
And after the first two weeks we hit two hundred
fifty thousand signatures. Amazing. That's, by the way, a record
breaking number. But here's even better. As of this morning,
we passed three hundred thousand signatures. This is absolutely phenomenal.
(10:19):
I am just off the charts thrilled. We are at
three hundred and one, three hundred and fifty two signatures
as of October twenty second, eight am. And we hope
to give you another update right before the November fourth
election that Monday, November third. But I want all of
you to make sure that you sign the petition. If
(10:43):
you don't have the petition in your hands, then you
can go to the website voter ID Initiative dot com.
Voter id Initiative dot com there you can download, print,
sign and mail back the petition for voter ID. Pay
close attention to the instructions because they make it difficult,
(11:05):
But that's because the politicians don't like what we're doing.
They don't like it when we put a common sense
reform on the ballot that might actually throw them out
of office, and I think it will. If you get
voter ID in California, We're going to clean up our
elections and we're going to then clean up our government
by throwing bad politicians out. The other thing you can
do at that website, voter id Initiative dot com is
(11:27):
you can volunteer and I will send you a petition
kit with multiple petitions that you can collect from your
friends and family. Just go to that website voter id
Initiative dot com, click under volunteer and let me know
that you would like a kit, and I will pay
the postage to mail it to you. Finally, please chip
(11:49):
in a contribution. We are hiring as many students as
possible to stand in front of stores to collect signatures.
You can go to that website voter ide Initiative, and
final final is join me at an event. As I
mentioned yesterday I've been traveling the state in a big
(12:10):
yellow bus and I'm exhausted. I have been. We're in
the middle of this massive bus tour for the first month.
We planned seventy two events in thirty days. That's usually
two to three events a day. And tonight I'm going
(12:30):
to be in Roseville, California, out right outside of Sacramento.
Last night I was in Reading. The night before that,
I was in San Jose. Yes, I'm going to the
Bay Area and I'll be in the Bay Area area tomorrow,
but I will be back after swinging through Central Valley
this weekend. I will be back in the LA area
(12:51):
this Sunday in Pasadena. I'll be in the Illin Empire
in Corona on Sunday night, and then of course in
Orange County and San Diego and back up to LA
the following week. I'd love to see you at one
of our events. We have the volunteer kits that we
hand out no on Prop fifty signs we hand out,
(13:11):
So go to the website voter id Initiative dot com
and get the fullest of events that are up there.
Here's the thing. While I'm thrilled over the moon, excited
about the two hundred fifty thousand signatures in the first
two weeks and the three hundred and one thousand signatures
that we've got as of eight am this morning. These
are the easiest signatures, and so I worry about can
(13:33):
we keep the pace up because we have to get
a million. So if you do not sign the initiative,
or if you are not out as a volunteer collecting signatures,
this ain't gonna happen. And if we don't get voter ID,
there's no hope in California to turn the tie. But
if we get voter IDE, it means that we're gonna
have to first clean up our voter roles. We would
(13:55):
have to purge illegal immigrants off the rolls because it
requires a citizen and ship verification of anyone who wants
to register to vote, So this is a game changer.
And then of course the Voter ID initiative itself to
make sure whoever returns a ballot is indeed the person
who well is eligible to vote. So get those signatures
(14:19):
and then get them back into me. The petition kit
has a full set of instructions, including where you send
your petitions and when you should be turning them in
what's the timeline? Go to voter id initiative dot com
voter id initiative dot com and join the fight. The
ten bills that I'm gonna tell you about are just
(14:43):
the tip of the iceberg, because there are so many
bad bills. I broke a record, by the way, this
legislative session. I am the holder of the title of
the legislator who voted no the most times. And I'm
not just a no I don't I'm not a negative person.
(15:05):
I don't look for fault in everything. No, I'm just
telling you that the bills are that crappy, They're that awful.
Someone said, why do you vote no on all these bills?
Did you read them? You might want to read them.
If you read the bill, and if you actually were
listening to your constituents, you vote no too. Because these
bills are really bad. And so when I came, I've
(15:28):
done this list top ten worst new laws. I do
it annually. Every year. It gets worse and worse and
worse because the bills are just that bad. So I
want you to go to the website Reform California dot
org and the story is up there. Top ten worst
new laws signed by Governor Gavenu Sum and we will
(15:49):
go through these laws together, but this way you can
share it with your friends to spread the word. Reform
California dot org. The story is up there at that website,
so you can spread the word far and whined. Carl
Demio's sitting in for John Coblt on KFI AM six forty.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Of course, if you miss any of our discussion, just
go to the podcast John Cobelt Show on demand and
that's all posted shortly after four o'clock. We're talking about
the top ten worst new laws in California, and it's
a hard list to put together because there's so many
bad new laws that Newsome just signed a new effect.
You can follow along as we cover these online at
(16:33):
Reform California dot org. Shall we get to them. Yes.
Coming in number one, AB four ninety five, and this
one is particularly scary. It's outrageous. AB four ninety five
allows strangers to take custody of minor children without parental consent.
(16:57):
Now I'm not making this up. Read the bill yourself.
In fact, back in June when this bill was on
the Assembly floor the first go around before it went
to the Senate and then came back to the Assembly.
I was one of only seven no votes on this bill,
and a lot of my colleagues vote no. When I vote,
know they vote no. And people were saying, well, why
(17:17):
did you vote? Know, I said, did you read the bill?
When people ever asked why did you vote? Did you
read the bill? And of course the answers, no, they
didn't read the bill. Well. AB four ninety five says that,
you know, the basis of AB four ninety five is
that ICE is seizing illegal immigrants in California and their
(17:40):
children are then not being able to be picked up
by their parents after school. Now, mind you, there is
no evidence to suggest that this is true. There's no
evidence that there's a single child out there that has
been left without a parent to pick them up at
school because ICE rated and removed that individual. But let's let's,
you know, despite the fact that there is no justification,
(18:03):
let's just look at what the bill does. It allows
a stranger simply to fill out a one sheet of
paper form and there are only four things that they
need to provide in order to say I'm in charge
of this child as it relates to education decisions, school
enrollment taking them out of a school, authorizing participation in
(18:26):
various classes, authorizing school related medical including vaccines. All you
have to do is write the name of a child,
the date of birth of the child, write your name
and sign it with a date. That's it. You don't
have to say I talk to the parent, I have
(18:47):
authorization from the parent, I'm a relative. No, you get
to make that decision just based upon I claim. This
is who I am. And they say that anyone can
claim that they are a mentor to a child and
take custody of them in this manner. AB four ninety
(19:12):
five then extends an additional guardianship role to family members,
but they define family members as five removals. It's like
six degrees of Kevin Bacon. They do five degrees of
family relationship. My great great great great grand cousin has
(19:38):
seized custody of my child, and so it allows strangers
to assume custody of children in this respect if they
are a distant relative, and they can make mental health decisions.
They can authorize abortions, they can authorize sex change operations,
(19:58):
any medical procedure can be authorized, and again the consent
of the parent not necessary. The bill removes any liability
from a medical provider or a school official who follows
this seizure, who says, Okay, you know this person claimed,
(20:22):
and then I performed this medical procedure. And now the
parents are upset because they didn't give permission. Well, they
can't sue me because AB four ninety five gives me
a shield and a liability waiver. Oh, you can't make
this crap up. Just read the bill. Second bill of
our top ten lists of naughties. SB six twenty seven
(20:42):
makes it a crime for officers to wear masks to
protect their identity law enforcement. This effectively encourages doxing and
intimidation and harassment of federal, state, and local law enforcement.
And now the newsome says that the reason why we
need the identity of these people is that what they're
(21:04):
doing is wrong. He literally says, we need the identity
of law enforcement because law enforcement is bad. They're evil,
they're acting in a bad way. We need to know
their identity. No, he's bullying them. Worse, he's trying to
dos them because we know the cartels are giving two
thousand dollars out right now for the identity of an
(21:26):
ICE agent, any ICE agent, if you give them the
identity and their address and they're family members, you get
two grand from the cartels. I wonder what that's being
used for. I wonder why they want the personal identity
and home address and relatives and family members of the
ICE agents. You know why they're trying to intimidate. And yes,
I believe harm ICE agents. And Gavin Newsom's Bill SB
(21:49):
six twenty seven makes it easier. Feeds the false and
very damaging narrative that somehow law enforcement is the enemy
and doing something bad, when in fact it's the criminals.
My friends, law enforcement's the hero the villain are the criminals.
But in the world of Democrat politicians at Gavin Newsom,
(22:10):
they basically say the criminals are the heroes, and law
enforcement they are the villains. Outrageous and shameful. But hey,
a lot the Democrat voters in the state of California
they tolerate this crap. Oh, but when they have their
lives on the line, what do they do? What do
they do? They down nine one one and they say, ooh,
(22:32):
cop mister, a law enforcement agent, please come save me.
You would you blame law enforcement if they said, I'm
gonna save some nosy, nasty liberal voter who voted for
Gavin Newsom put them into power to put my family's
life in jeopardy. Pick a finger. No, it is outrageous. Bill. Oh,
(23:01):
we've got to take a break. We've got two bills
out of ten. We're making progress. Right, they're that bad.
I have to talk about them because they really are
that bad. You can follow along at reform California dot org.
You also can sound off and ask a question on
the talkback radio feature on the iHeartRadio app. Carl Demyo
today sitting in for John Cobelt on AM six forty KFI.
Speaker 3 (23:23):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 2 (23:28):
Carl Demio yours truly fills in for John coblt. We're
gonna talk about Donald Trump doubling down on his vow
to send troops to San Francisco to protect the residents
from crime, and Kevin Newsome's response. But first we're talking
about the top ten craziest worst new laws in California.
You can follow along on the website Reform California dot
(23:52):
org for the top story there and share this because
a lot of voters don't know about these bad bills,
and when they find out about these ten bills, they're appalled.
And remember, for every one of these ten bills that
I'm focusing on on the top ten list, there's one
hundred other bad bills. So coming in at number three
SB one five it creates a slush fund for Gavin
(24:14):
Newsom to do state propaganda media. Here's why. Liberal newspapers,
liberal TV stations have lost their readers, their subscribers, their viewership.
And so now Newsom says, well, I have to prop
(24:35):
you up because you've carried our water for so many
years and now you're going to go bankrupt and we
can't have that. We need more brainwashing. So here I'm
gonna take taxpayer money and fund failing media outlets in
California that have lost their readers, subscribers, and viewers. I'm sorry,
but the market spoke. They don't want propaganda. They woke up,
(25:00):
they canceled their subscription, they turned off the TV. But
SB one fifty five allows Newsom to basically buy favorable
coverage for him and his politician friends. SB five eighteen
is bill number four on the top ten worst list,
sets up a massive new state agency to do reparations,
(25:24):
to hand out taxpayer funds based solely on someone's skin color. Now.
SB five eighteen is so offensive. It is racist by definition.
When you say you're going to treat people differently based
on skin color, based on gender, based on orientation, based
(25:45):
on religion, basically immutable characteristics. You're gonna treat people differently.
You're going to give benefits to some, money to some
at the expense of others. That is unconstitutional. The calor
the US Supreme Court has repeatedly ruled under the fourteenth
Amendment that that is not equal protection, it is discriminatory,
(26:07):
and it cannot happen. But no, Gavin Newsom doesn't give
a rat's rear end about what's legal or what's right
for that matter, So he is setting up SB five eighteen.
He signed into effect that s lawf SB five eighteen
to create a whole new state bureaucracy in the middle
of a budget crisis, a handout money we don't have
(26:28):
based upon skin color. We also call this trying to
bribe voters into supporting you. Coming in at number five
of the top ten bills that are insane and bad.
AB twelve o seven, in the middle of a cost
(26:50):
of living crisis in California. ABE twelve oh seven extends
an existing climate tax called the Cap and Trade Program
to twenty forty six. And this climate tax is applied
to almost anything in society, anything that you buy that
(27:13):
has any carbon related to its production. It applies a tax.
Set aside the growing debate over the predictions on climate
change ending the planet in the world and civilization within
twelve years being completely nonsense. What we do know is
(27:36):
that these climate mandates climate change taxes have a real cost.
Take your gasoline. For example, California has the highest gas
prices in the nation, about two dollars more than the
national average. The Cap and Trade program adds forty three
cents per gallon at the pump in a climate tax.
(28:00):
Oh you thought the gas tax was bad. You thought
the sales tax on gas was bad. No, no, no, no,
wait till you see that climate tax forty three cents
per gallon your cap and trade tax. The climate tax
causes you to pay more in electricity, which is why
we have the double the electricity rates per kilowatt hour
than the national average. Democrats do not care about your
(28:24):
cost of living. They don't care about the working family
or the struggling, you know, middle class. They're adding burdens
to those people coming in at number six eighty eleven
twenty seven is an anti Second Amendment bill banning most handguns. Yeah,
I know when Newsom says, oh, I'm for the Second Amendment,
(28:45):
I'm not going to ban all guns. Well. Eby eleven
twenty seven bans most handguns. It says that if you
may possibly in the future be able to modify the
handgun to be an automatic, then it's banned. Now. They're
not even waiting for you to actually try to modify it.
(29:09):
They're saying if you could possibly modify it. It's basically
like saying, you know, if this car could possibly be
used to get into an accident, we're going to ban it.
AB eleven twenty seven will be overturned as unconstitutional by
the Supreme Court, But in the meantime, it infringes on
your freedom, limits your ability to buy most handguns. We've
(29:35):
got a couple more bills to get to. I'm going
to clean that up. In this the two o'clock hour plus,
we have to talk about San Francisco. Gavin Newsom is
pushing back against President Trump, who is now vowing for
a second time to send the National Guard troops into
San Francisco to restore law and order and to fight crime.
We'll cover that and your questions on the iHeartRadio app
(29:58):
the talk back feature Keep Them. I'm Carl Demo sitting
in for John Cobelt today on KFI AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Hey, you've been listening to the John Cobalt Show podcast.
You can always hear the show live on KFI AM
six forty from one to four pm every Monday through Friday,
