Speaker 1 (00:00):
Can't. I am six forty. You're listening to the John
Cobel podcast on the iHeartRadio app. Oh we got a
full orchestra, not just trumpet's, not just good bizellos. We
(00:23):
have fireworks, We have victory. We have an unexpected victory.
Literally moments ago, we got worried from Ashley Zabama. She
has a story for KCR TV and Sacramento that get this.
(00:43):
Democratic leaders in the California Assembly announced on Tuesday they
will make it an automatic felony if you buy a
sixteen or seventeen year old for sex. They're putting that
provision back the bill. The predators, the perverts, the pedophiles
(01:07):
have been defeated. I'm not going to be gracious. These
fifty five Democrats that voted against this provision will forever
be known. I have a list and anytime these people
come up in the news, I'm going to remind you
of what they did. But the pressure was overwhelming. Oh,
by the way, I am six forty. We're stimulating talk
(01:30):
radio John Cobelt show right every day from one until
four o'clock and after four every day you can hear
whatever you missed on the podcast John Cobelt show on
demand again. It's on the iHeartRadio app. And yeah, this
is a brand news story. Just a few minutes ago,
and the Assembly Speaker Robert Reeves and the Assembly Public
(01:52):
Safety Chairman Nick Schultz, the former mayor of Burbank, they
released written statements and said the automatic felony will be
added back to the bill that was written by Democratic
Assembly Member Maggie Crell, the prosecutor. If you remember last week,
(02:14):
she had this bill and they wanted to get rid
of that provision, and they also took Maggie Kroll off
the bill. They took it away from her. And Nick Schultz,
who's the chairman of the Assembly Public Safety Committee, he said, no,
I'm taking the bill and we'll talk about it in August.
And I think I have no way of proving this.
(02:37):
I had no idea what kind of specifically kind of
blowback because I can't read everybody's email. I can't know
who you called, I can't know who was accosted on
the streets. But as because over the weekend, the Democrats
response was to run ads with lies. They actually, over
(03:00):
the weekend we're running ads claiming the Republicans voted against
the provision that it was the Republicans who didn't want
sixteen and seventeen year olds who were bought for sex,
didn't want it to be a felony. That's what I
was going to be talking about, was the dirty, disgusting
(03:23):
lies that these pervert predators and pedophiles were peddling over
the weekend. I guess it backfired badly. They are this
group is such bad people. I mean, I mean, this
is satanic. You know, we're one step away from child
(03:44):
sacrifices being legalized in this state with this crowd. In fact,
I think all fifty five who voted against this provision
ought to have to register as a sex offender. I
was going to be pushing for that, but I guess
they escaped. But they should all be listed on the
(04:08):
child sex registries. If they were going to strip this
provision out of the bill and then they blamed then
they claimed Republicans were the ones against the law, unbelievable.
The change will be made. This provision goes back in again.
Buying a sixteen or seventeen year old for sex that's
(04:32):
now felony again automatically, but it will not apply if
the adult offender is within three years of the age
of the minor, so up to twenty years old, eighteen,
nineteen and twenty year olds can buy could buy teenagers
(04:53):
off the streets. That was the compromise they wanted. I
don't know why, but that the compromise that was made,
and I guess we'll have to live with that. But
the the the people who are the age of the legislators,
I am convinced that many of these Democratic legislators do
(05:14):
this sort of thing, that they buy girls and boys
for sex. It's got to be I don't know how
you get this passionate about something so disgusting. I have
never known anybody this publicly. I mean, even even even
guys who use prostitutes. They know they're doing something illegal,
(05:36):
and they don't form an organization to legalize prostitution. You know,
even even guys who chase around their nieces, they know
they're doing something wrong. They don't go public saying we
got to change the laws so I can chase my
niece for sex. Now, don't do that. I have never
seen a group of men go public with this, with
(05:58):
a public vote, like, yes, we want to be able
to buy sixteen year old tru sex. Yes, this is
one of our core values. We're standing by it. You're
not gonna so they should all be registered sex offenders,
because that's apparently what's in their hearts. The women, I
don't know. I guess they're like Jerry Sandusky's wife. I mean,
(06:21):
they're like Gallaine Maxwell, you know, Epstein's girlfriend. I guess
there's always I guess it's like the women who worked
for Harvey Weinstein and would book the actresses for the
forced sex sessions. I mean, there's always women willing to
enable this kind of deviancy. And I can't explain why.
(06:41):
I don't know, but I'm thinking, Okay, it looks like
the female Democratic legislators were just in the missus Sandusky,
Gallaine Maxwell, Weinstein staff member camp, you know all they
all share that in common. And no, I'm not gonna
be nice. This is this is disgusting. If they this
(07:05):
this was one of the most revolting things I've ever seen. Okay,
this wasn't a tax hike, this was this was this
was sixteen year old girls getting raped for money, and
fifty five Democrats in the Assembly said yeah, sure, yeah, no,
we don't want to we don't want to ban that.
(07:25):
You got to see these things loudly, crudely, sometimes repetitively,
to get the message across what these guys are about.
And these women, they thought it was okay to buy
a girl and raper that's what they thought until there
(07:46):
were enough Californians who came out of whatever coma they've
been in for the last ten years had said, oh,
now now you've gone too far. This was too far.
So we'll see when the vote goes through. We are
going to have Carl Demyle, And three cheers for Carl Demyle,
the Republican assemblymen who guest hosted for us just a
(08:09):
couple of weeks ago, because he went to the mat
for this and he told the truth. I guess, you know,
it's hard to believe when he first said it. It's
like he thinks there's a he knows there's a group
of of male legislators who are gay, and they in
their culture, their specific culture, not all gay men, but
(08:30):
this this crowd thinks, no, it's perfectly normal for adult
men to mentor down to the age of fourteen gay
teenage boys that they you know, it's natural love. This
is men by love association stuff, all right. Apparently there's
quite a few in the legislature and that's what they
were protecting, and all the other Democrats united around them.
(08:56):
So yeah, they should all be registered sex offenders. Then
the women, but they got to reprieve because it looks
like they're going to vote to make it a felony.
Carl will be on in the three o'clock hour to
talk further. We have to make sure it goes through.
Speaker 2 (09:11):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
We discussed this late in the program yesterday, but I
want to get into it further for people who listened
to the early part of the show, because we've had
this guy on the air, and when we bring people
on the air, you know, we in good faith think
that that they're honest and that they're trying to serve
the public properly, and occasionally it turns out that they
(09:44):
could be crooks. So whenever a possible alleged cruk makes
it onto the program, we immediately have to highlight this
so that you understand. Now, since the fire happened in
the Palisades, we had on Freddie Escobar a couple of times.
He's the head of the union United Firefighters of Los Angeles,
(10:08):
and he's the one who came on and first told
us just how badly underfunded the LA Fire Department is.
That it's basically fifty percent funded, and we have the
same number of fire stations that we did in the
nineteen sixties and on and on, and that you know,
(10:28):
a majority of the fires in the city are started
by the vagrants, mental patients, and drug addicts. Well, it
turns out that looks like Freddy Escobar, this is all true,
might be part of the problem because the national union,
the International Association of Firefighters, and they oversee the local union.
(10:53):
They have suspended Freddy Escobar and several others because it
looks as if this crowd was running up huge credit
card bills with little or no documentation. And so there
is now a conservator who's been appointed to run United
(11:16):
Firefighters of La So let's start with Freddie Escobar, the president.
They are claiming the International Union is claiming over the
last six years, Escobar initiated nearly two thousand transactions on
his credit card, his union credit card, totally over three
(11:38):
hundred thousand dollars, and more than seventy percent of those
had no receipts no supporting documentation of any kind. The
auditors could not figure out the purpose of the transactions,
and another thirty five thousand were only partially supported. So
(12:02):
this letter announcing the suspension of Freddy Escobar says there's
no way to determine whether two hundred and sixty five
thousand dollars in dues money spent by Escobar without documentation
was for legitimate union expenditures. There's more guys, the former
secretary Adam Walker, the former treasurer Domingo Albaron Junior. They
(12:26):
had the two of them five hundred and thirty thousand
dollars in credit card transactions with no receipts or partial documentation.
Nobody's commenting. And then there are two more guys, the
vice presidents chrong Hoe and Doug Coates, also suspended, accused
of breaching their fiduciary duties and failing to enforce union policy.
(12:51):
So I'm inferring that there was some reason to believe
that they should have known about this, or did know
about this and didn't do anything. I don't know. He
need more details. Now, going back to the former secretary
of the Firefighters Union, Adam Walker, he claims that the
(13:11):
account was for the UH, for the UH, he said,
he he he, It was an account set up for
two golf tournaments to raise money for a disabled former firefighter,
and he said all the spending were reimbursements for legitimate
(13:36):
out of pocket expensive for the golf tournaments. However, what
the International Union found is that he moved large sums
of money from the charity's account to his personal accounts
and then paid his mortgage and RV loan payments, paid
(13:57):
his mortgage and RV loan payments. And again this is
the former Secretary of the Union, Adam Walker, and made
cash atm withdrawals at casinos. We also found out just
last week that Freddie Escobar made five hundred and forty
thousan dollars in twenty twenty two, more than doubling his
(14:17):
base salary, lots of overtime. So you know, I thought
he was a good guy. He came out on the show,
he did, I think, tell the truth. He one curious thing.
He was very supportive of Kristin Crowley, the LA fire chief.
I didn't really understand that considering what we know now.
But now these aren't criminal charges, these are it's being
(14:42):
handled within the firefighters' union right now. I don't know
if this leads to any civil or criminal situations in court,
but a conservator has taken over so that some kind
of funny business is going on here. And so, you
know the headaches we have with the fire management. You
know the headaches we have with Karen Bass and Ghana,
(15:03):
the lack of funding that Bass and the city council
provided to the fire department, the lack of preparation for
the fire. The reservoirs too, now two reservoirs being dry,
fire hydrants didn't work, fire engines one hundred of them
were broken, couldn't be fixed, lack of mechanics to fix them.
Firefighters sent home the morning of the fire because they
(15:25):
didn't have any engines to ride in. All that stuff.
Then you find out the one guy who was telling
us what was going on on the inside is got
hundreds of thousands of dollars in credit card expenses. Credit
card expenses that he can't justify. Do we know how
that fire started yet? No, that's just chucking. Maybe I
(15:47):
missed something. No, No, they did their little experiment last
week and you'll follow up on that either. But good question,
Thank you. I'm glad you're staying on top of that
when we come back. Okay, another tross city. The price
of gas, according to Brian Jones, the Senate Minority leader Republican,
(16:08):
could be hitting eight dollars and forty three cents by
next year. Not making up that number. When we come back,
we're going to talk to Brian Jones and lay out
how we may be getting to eight dollars and forty
three cents a gallon. I don't think I could ride
my bike to work on It's too far. That is
(16:28):
a that is tough all the way. I know, no way.
It would take me five hours at least you're in
this side of the hill, though, that's true. I'd have
to go up and down the Subulvida Pass. Yeah. Uh well,
there's a train right at a Burbank. No, no, there's
no train from Burbank to the rest shot. I can't,
(16:49):
you can't.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
You're listening to John Cobels on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 1 (16:56):
We're on every day from one until four o'clock, and
every day after four o'clock. Whatever you missed you can
listen to on the podcast. John Cobelt's show on demand
and one thing we've been consistently doing for months now
is tracking gas prices, not just in California but all
over the country. I told you when I went on
a trip recently in North Carolina. In Florida, the gas
(17:17):
there was eighty seven two ninety five. Eric sklar Ur,
technical director, went to Texas over the weekend two thirty
nine for regular and he's got photographic evidence to prove it.
And handy place to go is the Triple A website
where they keep track at state gas price averages. And
(17:41):
there are twenty four states selling gas on average for
less than three dollars a gallon. The lowest is Mississippi,
a two sixty four, and that's just an average, like
Texas is two seventy six. But as I told you,
Eric got it for two thirty nine, or sawgas for
two thirty nine, there's forty three states at three thirty
or left. I mean, it's it's and we well, I
(18:04):
just saw five oh nine on a street quarter yesterday.
The average in the state is for seventy eight. How
you go from two sixty four in Mississippi to four
seventy eight here in California with many many stations much
higher than that. Well, we've gone through all the reasons
and it's going to get worse. And uh sentimentary. Leader
(18:24):
Brian Jones, Republican out of San Diego, he has released
uh well, it's a press release and he's warning that
gas prices could go out of sight next year, and
we have Brian Jones on to explain what's going on.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Well, John, thanks for covering this issue. I know your
listeners are well informed on gas prices in California. This morning,
I wrote a letter to the governor sharing my concerns
and I think all of California's concerns on the closure
of the two refineries Phillip sixty six and Valero announcing
that within the next year they're both going to close.
That's twenty percent of our refinery capacity in California, which
(19:03):
is going to drive up prices by the end of
twenty twenty six up to eight dollars and forty three
cents a gallon for gasoline in California or more. And
this is a report that the professor that has been
on from USC that's been on your show, Professor McShee
is working with our team to put this information together
and we just want the governor to get involved in
(19:25):
this and help us protect California's pocketbooks.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
Well, Newsom, whenever he addresses this issue, spends all his
time claiming that the oil companies are price gouging Californians,
and apparently only Californians, because if you look at that
list of gas prices on the TRIPLEA side, apparently they're
not interested in gouging anybody else. But Professor Michael McShee,
(19:49):
he's from USA, investigated that end and said there's no
price gouging going on, no price manipulations, just not happening.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
The legislature even that in John last year, when remember
the governor did a special session to go after the
price gouging of the oil refiners in California, and nothing
ever came of that, and he walked away from it
quietly without ever saying one way or the other what
was discovered. But what was discovers what you just said.
The oil companies in California are not price gouging. Many
(20:20):
of them are barely making it. That's why they're closing
up operations, moving their resources to other states, and that's
why fuel prices in these other states are less expensive
than they are in California because they're actually allowed to
get oil out of the ground and they're actually allowed
to refine it into gasoline for their residents.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
We're at a point that where California prices are double
than the cheapest prices on the East Coast. I mean,
that is a huge gap.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
That's a huge number.
Speaker 1 (20:49):
And we had a sixty five cent increase coming soon
because of a California Air Resources Board regulation. Then you
have these two refineries closing. That's why I don't think
think Mache's projection of eight forty three a gallon next
year is outrageous.
Speaker 3 (21:04):
That actually tracks, it's not outrageous at all. I think
it's very reasonable and to the point of it could
be more than that. And so you know, take your
listeners who live in your area and are driving fifteen
to thirty miles a day one way to get to work,
so sixty you know, thirty to sixty miles round trip
(21:25):
a gallon of gasoline. When it triples in costs, that
impacts the bottom line of their household income. That impacts
how many sports games their kids can go to. That
impacts how many new pairs of shoes they're kids. You
that impacts how many after school programs they get to
sign up for, how many vacations they get to go on,
whether they're staying in California vacation or traveling out of state.
(21:48):
So this impacts every Californians pocketbook. And this governor is
just out of touch with what everyday Californians are struggling
with here in trying to make ends meet.
Speaker 1 (21:58):
If you look at a tank of gases twenty gallons
once a week, that's an extra fifty five dollars a
week compared to East Coast states exactly. You know, we're
talking like twenty five hundred dollars plus a year exactly.
Speaker 3 (22:11):
And that's real money for Californians that are already struggling
to make ends meet.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
And the reason that these well, I know the reason
why these refineries are shutting down. It's because of the
massive regulations and costs that Newsome and the Democratic legislature imposes.
But Newsom is trying to get the refineries to do something.
Speaker 3 (22:33):
But what can he do, Well, there's lots of things
he could do as far as legislation is concerned, as
cleaning up some of the labor laws that they have
to comply with. Cleaning up many of the lawsuits from
the consumer attorneys, and then just making it easier to
get oil out of the ground, get the permits to
(22:54):
do that. We've offered suggestions of tax credits, We've offered
temporary relief, permanent relief from taxes and regulations. None of
these things are all. All of these things are a
non starter with the governor and the out of touch
extremist environmental wing of the Democratic Party. Now, I want
to be very, very very clear that there's some what
(23:15):
I call sensible Democrats that are trying to work with
us here on the Republican side to get some sensible
reforms made so that these refineries can stay in business.
But let's not be Let's not be fooled by this
at all. The governor set out in early in his
career and his environmental buddies to shut down internal combustion
(23:35):
engines in California. This is their goal, is to get
us out of our cars and into public transfertation.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
What are they going to do? The public art is
not buying electric cars in great enough numbers. It's far
far short. We don't have an electricity grid that's reconstructed.
We don't have the energy to supply the electricity if
we had a grid. I mean, there's no part of
this that works.
Speaker 3 (23:59):
That just exposes the hypocrisy of their ideas when they
pass this stuff through legislation hoping that it works, because
there's no science behind any of these environmental philosophies that
they have about getting us out of our gas cars
and into electric cars. And everything you just said is accurate,
and what's the house of cards is now falling down.
(24:21):
Voters are finally catching on to this governor and the
Democratic Party's priorities, which is not everyday Californians. We had
a massive swing in Republican votes in November and we're
going to continue to see that over the next two years.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
I don't know how people are going to deal with
gasoline prices approaching eight pin fifty a gallon. I mean,
that's a terrible shock.
Speaker 3 (24:45):
Yes, I hope that when they go to the ballot
box they let the leadership of California know that they're
not going to stand for this. They're not going to
allow this, and we want these are good jobs. By
the way, these are good a lot of times union jobs.
They're all upper middle class us. They're all good paying
and if you don't want to get a college degree
and you want to have a good career, many of
(25:06):
these oil and refining jobs are good careers.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
The oil industry could be out of site in California
because we had the resources. It's all underground, it's here.
Speaker 3 (25:18):
We have enough oil in California for Californians and other
parts of the country as well. If we would just
extract it and refine it here in California, we could
drive these prices back down to where they should be.
Speaker 1 (25:32):
All right, well, keep at it. We'll talk again soon.
Brian Jones, Senate Minority Leader. All right, we'll continue talking
about the outrageous gas prices in the state. This is coming.
This is not hype. This is not any kind of
like doom that I'm trying to project here. This is
absolute truth. What's going to happen. You're going to see it.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
You're listening to John Cobel on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Eight seven seven Moist Dainty six eight seven seven Moist
Dainty six. He used the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app.
I imagine some people might have been calling in about
the perverts, pedophiles and what was it. If I'm gonna
do this, I gotta remember the predators right right, the perverts,
pedophiles and predators among the Democrats on the Assembly Public
(26:23):
Safety Committee, because they were blocking a bill that would
make it an automatic felony if you purchased a sixteen
or seventeen year old for sex. Huge ruckus over the
last week, and if you haven't heard, the Democrats have
been shamed into reversing course and they will now vote
(26:49):
for the provision. We were gonna have Carl demio on
coming up after three o'clock. He engineered this revolt and
it was It was a billo that was written by
a Democratic assembly woman, Maggie Crow, prosecutor. Wasn't complicated. Hey,
is it a felony for sixteen and seven? A felony
(27:13):
if you buy a sixteen or seventeen year old for sex?
The whole world said yes. Fifty five Democrats said no,
and they've changed their minds. So we'll talk about all
that all right. The latest and a never ending list
of stupid American tourist stories. Do you hear about the
(27:34):
American tourist in Rome? He'd gone to the coliseum, he
climbed a metal railing. He's forty seven years old. He
climbs a metal railing, probably because he wanted to take
a selfie, and he impaled himself on the railing and
(27:59):
dangled there for more than twenty minutes, bleeding and screaming.
It pierced his spine, oh geez, and he needed eighty stitches.
It took paramedics more than twenty minutes to remove him
from the railing. He screamed until he lost consciousness, and
(28:21):
then he hung lifelessly from the fence. Apparently he's not dead.
That's good, I rather be. I was gonna say, I'm
sure he thought about that. I mean, that went all
the way through to his spine. No, how many organs
(28:41):
did it take out along the way, all for a
selfie for a selfie? Did it come out the other end?
I don't know. He was rushed to a hospital in
Code red condition. He was given oxygen, stitched up, like
(29:03):
I said, eighty stitches, and he's in serious but stable condition.
He was in Rome with family and friends. His friends
have been questioned, but they did not They could not
explain why he did that. Poor guy. But uh, you're
you're you're asking for it. Forty seven years old, like,
(29:27):
not a drunk, impulsive teenager, grown man. Well, guys, yeah,
it is guys. It's always guys. All the women will
fall off cliffs and uh, fall off rocks. But I
think men have done that as well. They have done it.
Men come up with innovative, ingenious ways, yeah, to harm themselves.
(29:53):
You know. You know if I saw that, I would
probably start laughing at him. Oh no, you wouldn't. I
think I would.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
Yeah, if you actually saw that, thought, yeah, no, you'd
be grossed out.
Speaker 1 (30:05):
I'd start I'd start yelling, you'd scream from horror, and
then start laughing. Yeah, right, Oh my god. I'd be
looking up at him and it's like, what were you
thinking for a selfie? The hell's wrong with you? I
need a lot of lights. Yeah, I hope it's worth
the likes, all right. When we come back, Jay Bieber's
(30:30):
coming on. Jay Bieber is with the uh what's the
name of that group? He's with National Motorists Association. He's
been on our show for so many years about all
kinds of stupid traffic bills that come out of Sacramento. Yeah,
when they when they're not coming up with reasons to
buy teenagers or sex. They try to control how we
(30:51):
drive through the streets. And there's more red light cameras
that they want, and uh, what's the other thing, Oh
speed cameras, two speed cameras and red light cameras. And
what they want to do is just grind everybody to
a halt. We'll tell you all about it. Coming up,
Debora Mark Live the KFI twenty four our newsroom. Hey,
(31:13):
you've been listening to the John Cobalt Show podcast. You
can always hear the show live on KFI AM six
forty from one to four pm every Monday through Friday,
and of course, anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
