of all places, and we're on till four o'clock Demor
and I and then Conway's coming in at four until
(00:24):
eight extra bonus hour of Tim Conway as we continue
raising money for Brunos Katerinas Club. He feeds twenty five
thousand children every week pasta meals, hot pasta meals, and
he's been doing this with us for fifteen years overall
for twenty years. And sometime in the next half hour
(00:46):
or so, in order to raise extra money for these
hungry children, I'm going to dress up again.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
He's such a good sport.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
It's John coblt the best for it ever. Yes, he is, truly,
I mean it.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
I don't want compliments, I don't want applause.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
I want money, money for the kids, a right, So
somebody's got to antie up some cash if they want
me to dance in whatever ridiculous outfit.
Speaker 1 (01:10):
I'm going to be in.
Speaker 2 (01:12):
And uh let me first, Well, i'll tell you in
a moment we have new totals that you'll be impressed with.
Let me introduce Tina Marie Square, director of Smart and
Final Charitable Foundation.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Welcome, how are you?
Speaker 4 (01:28):
Thank you very well, thank you, thank you.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
John, you've been or Smartphile has been involved with KFI
and the Pastathon and Bruno.
Speaker 1 (01:38):
For a long time now nine years, nine years.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, and I know people are showing up at Smart
and Finals all over.
Speaker 4 (01:45):
Yes, they are in California, Nevada and Arizona, right.
Speaker 2 (01:49):
And I know one time I was in a Smart
and Final and I actually heard myself on the intercom.
Speaker 4 (01:53):
Wasn't that exciting?
Speaker 1 (01:54):
That was exciting?
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Actually everyone should experience that one absolutely, it'll be pushing
around a lot of toilet paper and paper towels like,
oh that's me, look at that. So talk about the
involvement and why you do it with Bruno and what
it's meant to Smart and Final.
Speaker 4 (02:10):
Well, like you, it's about feeding the kids, it's about
giving back to our local communities. It's about making sure
that we're involved in all the right places for all
the right reasons. And you know what Bruno's doing, you know,
where the money is going, and you know that they're
feeding kids, and Smart and Final and our foundation recognize
(02:33):
the opportunity of being a part of something better than ourselves,
giving back and supporting an organization that does what they
say they're going to do, and that is feeding the children.
That's exactly what they're using the money for. So how
could you not be a part of it all? It's
such so positive in every way.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Yeah, and I want people to trust this because we've
been involved for so long with Bruno and Caterina's Club,
as has Smart and Final, and you know.
Speaker 1 (03:02):
There really is a tremendous number of.
Speaker 2 (03:05):
Kids you got fat all over Southern California and beyond
because of him. So now people go to Smart and Final,
how can they donate?
Speaker 4 (03:13):
So when you go to Smart and Final and you
go shopping, you just as you're going through the line
like you normally would check out, you will see the
pin pad there and on there it will ask you
and you also see a little card at the top
of the pin pad asking you to make the donation
to Kathedyinis Club for the pastathon and please know one
(03:33):
hundred percent comes back to Katharina's Club.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
One of it.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Yeah, and in turn, Bruno spends one hundred percent of
it on feeding the children. Absolutely, that's that's the that's
the chain there. Well, thank you very much for coming.
I got to make an announcement today. Yes, uh is
everybody ready? As at three o'clock the total amount donated
(04:00):

Speaker 4 (04:34):

eighty nine thousand dollars through our stores and our foundation.
Today Bruno with a chuck for fifteen thousand dollars.
Speaker 1 (04:46):

Well, nobody does really, all right.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
So.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
I think you know, I must have been about ten
years ago or close to it. It's actually before you
were doing the news with us. I may not have
originated the idea, but you certainly developed it into new directions.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
I did know Shannon wanted to see me in a robe, and.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
She said, she made you eat broccoli for the first time.
Speaker 2 (05:42):
You made me eat broccoli, So I had it beyond
Burger once.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
There used to be benign things they would just bring John,
like bad food.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
Yeah, you know, benign. And then she.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Took the robe idea and the next thing, you know,
I'm wearing like I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
I was did yoga wan year. It's weird last year.
Last year. There's a lot of.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Like Leopard involved. I don't even remember. I've blocked a
lot of it out, Like I said, I found some
of the costumes in my closet not too long ago,
and I honestly couldn't remember for a.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
Moment you actually put them on and parade around your
house in those costumes.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
No wonder your wife is upset all the time. No
one's going to know. You didn't have to tell well. Sorry,
So that's.
Speaker 2 (06:30):

eleven thousand a month too. It's an influencer. Yes, all right,
So when we come back, we'll see what it is.
I don't know what it is I'm wearing. I don't
know what it is I'm going to do. Maybe I'll
just stand there and look embarrassed. But we were looking
for people to donate money before I move, before I twitch, yes,
(06:52):

one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
This isn't Minnesota here, okay.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
When and if you're just joining us, we had the
annual dance and you can listen to that on the podcast.
Speaker 1 (16:22):
Uh, and I'm sure you can see it too. Yeah,
it's on the social on.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
Social media and YouTube and all that. And uh, I
was a furry this year, yes, And I honestly didn't
know what I was.
Speaker 1 (16:33):
That was then part.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
It didn't It didn't hit me because I you know,
when Shannon told me before this crosses the line, I'm thinking, well,
what could that be?
Speaker 1 (16:42):
You know, And so I put it on.
Speaker 2 (16:44):
It was two paws and two feet and a mask
and a tail, and I thought, all right, well this
isn't bad.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
This doesn't cross the line. I'm thinking maybe there's more
to this.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
And I thought maybe I'm missing a piece of the costume.
I started looking around and I dropped something and then
come out here and you go you're a furry. It's like,
oh no, that's what I was missing.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
I didn't know that. So thank you.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
And we raised five hundred and five dollars. Thank you
for all those in the audience here. Now, boy, you
showed up on the right day. Ron Ross, President of
the Franchise Association of Wendy's.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
It's just president DMA. What does that stand for.
Speaker 8 (17:32):
Well, there's a fancy title that DMA makes, a shorter
franchise association.
Speaker 1 (17:37):
It's just that the group of owners here in Southern
oh I see. Okay.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
The titles just keep getting longer and longer and more elaborates.
Speaker 1 (17:43):
Marketing people that can did you see the first No?
Actually I missed you. All right, No, it's probably better
that way. You might withdraw your sponsorship. It's okay, I
respect you more.
Speaker 2 (17:53):
Now if you donate, you have till Sunday to go
to Wendy's and donate and you will get a fourteen
dollars coupon book for a five dollars donation, and that
five dollars is in turn directed to Katerina's Club. All right,
that's a good deal. So Wan, talk about Wendy's involvement here.
(18:15):
I know you've been Wendy's been involved quite a few years.
Speaker 8 (18:18):
I think this is our third or fourth year. We've
been very happy with what we do here. To meet
Cheff Bruno and see what he does the kids and
he feeds, it just tugs at your heart. For us.
It gave us a local connection to do something with.
We do a lot with adoption with Dave Thomas Foundation,
but this is a local community where we can really
help out locally where our restaurants are.
Speaker 2 (18:40):
Yeah, I mean we had Chef Brunner on before and
trying to envision that there's twenty five thousand hungry children
every day every day, you know who show up at
the various locations. That's a tremendous amount of hunger, a
tremendous amount of need.
Speaker 8 (18:55):
It's unbelievable that he's doing what he's doing. I mean,
you just think the wealthiest country in the world, right,
but we can't feed our kids.
Speaker 1 (19:03):
Now, we have told us about one family.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
Mother is six kids in a hotel room and they've
been there for twelve years. But because we're raised in
the hotel room, which I can't fathom. I can't even understand.
So it's really great that Wendy's is helping out these families.
Speaker 8 (19:19):
But you know one that just shows you what one
guy can do, right, you know, I mean it started
with his mom, but one guy can do unbelievable things.
I mean, my hat's off to him.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
Yeah, yeah, twenty years of this now fifteen here with
KFI and again you can go to a Wendy's donate
through Sunday and if you donate five dollars you get
a fourteen.
Speaker 1 (19:40):
Dollar coupon book.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
That's a pretty good return and the five dollars will
all go to Katarina's Club. Ron Ross, president of the
Franchise Association for Wendy's, thank you very much for coming on.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Thank you a big hand.
Speaker 2 (19:58):
Let me say one other thing I got to tell
you about out somewhere I lost my reading glasses.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
I see what I can do.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Huge thanks to Hilton Anaheim for our pastathon accommodations. This
legendary So Cal hotel is better than ever, fresh from
a multi million dollar renovation that brings new dining, reimagined rooms,
views of the Disney.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
Fireworks, and a rooftop terrace.
Speaker 2 (20:20):
Your perfect Orange County getaway starts at Hilton Anaheimhotel dot com.
We are at eighty seven South Anaheim Boulevard and Anaheim
the Anaheim White House Restaurant. That's Bruno Serrado's restaurant. And
he's got Katarina's Club and as you heard, twenty five
thousand children a week.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Is it a week or it's a day. It's a
lot of kids.
Speaker 2 (20:42):
And we're raising money for him because we're fifty percent
of his annual budget.
Speaker 1 (20:46):
And one more segment than Conway comes in. And one day,
one day, one day, one day.
Speaker 2 (20:56):
Debormark has designed all these performances for the past.
Speaker 3 (21:00):
It was my idea, but Michelle c chose the outfit.
I said, we're going to dress him up. Is it furry?
And Michelle came up with the Did she pick.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
The outfit this year? Yeah, I said, we got it.
He's going to be a furry You have you have
good taste. By the way, in dressing furries. I got
a second career that so thank you. Michelle. Bruno's here
and that's what people are cheering for.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
And uh kind of bothered me because when I walked
out as a furry, Bruno said.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
You look really good. It's like, all right, did your
news disappear? My news? Look at this just disappeared. No news,
it disappeared. Yeah, so you know what that means? Everything
is good in the world.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
Well, you know what, what.
Speaker 3 (21:44):
Introduce me and I'll make something up and you know,
basically crosiers coming up.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Now that's usually what we do. I know, just she
makes up.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
I mean literally, you see I suddenly it's probably me
because uh, I mean Richie can attest to that.
Speaker 1 (21:56):
I mean I'm yeah, I'm not technically you're your aora
or something is disrupted.
Speaker 5 (22:01):
All right, Well you're listening to John Cobels on demand
from KFI Am sixty.
Speaker 1 (22:09):
We continue here.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
At Katarina's Club, the Katerina's Club fundraiser at the Anaheim
White House Restaurant.
Speaker 1 (22:16):
Yes, thank you.
Speaker 2 (22:17):
There's one woman applauding in the back row. Okay, everyone
else still stunned by the furry dance. They can't even
move they can't speak, they can't applaud anymore. We're eight
eighty seven South Anaheim Boulevard in Anaheim. We are raising
money for Katerina's Club and Tim will have a new
set of totals coming up after four o'clock. It looks
(22:40):
like the dance worked on someone, because we'repped to forty
five hundred dollars to co host an hour on the show.
Forty five hundred dollars. That's up from it was at
thirty eight hundred. So there's one I can tell there's
one extra bid here, so that that dance was worth
seven hundred dollars on the bid and we made five
(23:01):
hundred and five dollars in person. There's still two people watching,
and if you want to watch the dance, I'm told
there's a there's a little piece of it an Instagram already,
and the whole dance is going on YouTube.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
By tomorrow morning.
Speaker 6 (23:19):
Well, the whole dance is on Instagram now, oh, because
we were on Instagram live. Oh, but there will be
a wider shot version on YouTube either later tonight or
early tomorrow morning. People actually watching on Instagram live.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
We had like over two hundred people watching on Instagram.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
H and they all probably wish they could have donated,
But go to cafim six forty dot com slash positon
and donate there.
Speaker 1 (23:40):
That's right. It was to inspire you to donate. It
was quite the dance one year.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
I'm gonna dance and I'm not going to stop until
we hit a certain goal. It'll be like a marathon.
I shouldn't be saying this out loud. You guys are
gonna do it.
Speaker 6 (23:54):
And just remember this is all being recorded too, so
I'm I'm going to keep you to this. Yeah, I know,
I know when you're shaking the tail.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
That was the best part. Why, thank you? Sorry?
Speaker 2 (24:08):
