Speaker 1 (00:00):
Can't.
Speaker 2 (00:00):
I am six forty.
Speaker 3 (00:02):
You're listening to the John Cobel Podcast on the iHeartRadio app.
We are on every day from one until four o'clock
and then after four o'clock whatever you missed. In fact,
you could access it after four or anytime this weekend.
John Cobelt's show on demand on the iHeart app. It's
the podcast and that's how you catch up. We have
(00:22):
two rinds of the Voiceline coming up at three twenty
and three fifty. You got Alex Michaelson from Fox eleven
coming on right after the three thirty news. He's going
to be guest hosting this show coming up on a Monday.
In fact, he'll be on Monday and Carl Demio, the
firebrand Republican Assembly to the San Diego area. He's going
to be hosting the show from Tuesday through Friday, and
(00:45):
I'll be back a week from Monday. And don't scowl.
It occurred to me the other day that I hadn't
had a week off outside of Christmas, which is not
a vacation, since last July. I hadn't had a full
week off. So I'm going to lay down for a while.
But Elex and Carl will do great. You'll enjoy them
(01:07):
next week, all right, kilmar Abrego Garcia. You know, I
if this was just a story about him, would I
wouldn't even bring this up very much because it's just
another illegal alien. It's just another gang member. It's just
another violent criminal. I mean, we've got I mean, they
let thousands and thousands and thousands of them into the country.
(01:31):
There's nothing special about this guy, except this is the
one that the Democrats in Washington and journalists and reporters
have seized on that because he was sent to El
Salvador to port it as an illegal alien without going
through the proper channels. This means the destruction of the
(01:54):
Constitution as we know it.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Which is nuts. It's just crazy talk.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
They had swept up two hundred and sixty eight gang members.
Most of them were Venezuela and trendy iragu guys. Some
of them were MS thirteen guys. So this guy was
here illegally for a number of years. A judge had
allowed him to stay in the country at one point
even though he was here illegally, and he claimed he
(02:26):
made this you know, bogus claim that if he went
back to El Salvador. There's another gang that would would
harm him. But he had he had a gang. He
had actually a gang title. He was part of the
hierarchy at MS thirteen. He had a gang name, he
had gang tattoos. And now there's this this embarrassing buffoon
(02:50):
of a senator, Chris van Holland, who flew You talk
about grandstanding. He actually flew to Al Salvador to meet
with this prisoner, and that was flown back and he
did this emotional press conference because he's so upset that
Al Salvador is still holding him. Yeah, he's a citizen
(03:13):
of El Salvador. He was here illegally, so he's got
he's got no business here none at Chris van Holland
tried to portray him, tried to portray him as this
peaceful family man, this honorable immigrant. Well turned out yesterday
that he beat up his wife regularly, to the point
(03:35):
where the wife had a restraining order slapped on him.
We had the legal paperwork, I saw her handwriting. He
would whack her with his work work boot. He'd punch
her in the face, bruise, give him a give her
a black eye or a purple eye.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
As she put it.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
And now today Fox News is report that they found
a twenty twenty two Homeland Security investigations report that said
official law enforcement investigations say Abrego Garcia was a member
of the notorious MS thirteen gang. By the way, MS
thirteen is now a terrorist organization. Trump designated MS thirteen
(04:21):
as a terrorist organization, so officially he's a terrorist.
Speaker 2 (04:27):
And on December one.
Speaker 3 (04:29):
Twenty twenty two, a Tennessee Highway patrol trooper stopped Garcia.
He was speeding, he was driving erradically and when the
trooper pulled Garcia over, guess what, there were eight other
guys in the car. They had been driving from Houston
(04:50):
to Temple Hills, Maryland, and Garcia said, oh, well, they're
gonna they're in construction.
Speaker 4 (05:02):
Now.
Speaker 3 (05:02):
The trooper thought it was a human trafficking incident because
none of these guys had any luggage, and when they
were questioned by the trooper, they all gave the same
address as a Brigo Garcia's home address. No luggage, no home,
(05:23):
headed for construction work. Well, the patrol officer thought it
was human trafficking. He said a Brego Garcia pretended to
speak less English than he was capable of and then
started trying to throw the officer off track. Every time
(05:44):
the cop asked a Brigo Garcia question, Garcia responded with
another question, and then the officer and I was going
to say inexplicably gave up, But this is what happens.
Speaker 4 (05:59):
You know.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
There was so much sanctuary city, sanctuary state nonsense, leave
the immigrants alone, that the cop decided just to wave
them on. But he put together a report and all
Land Security says he's an MS thirteen gang member, an
illegal alien, suspected human trafficker.
Speaker 2 (06:16):
Eight individuals in a car with no luggage.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
The facts speak for themselves, says the Assistant Secretary for
Public Affairs, Tricia McLaughlin. They wreek of human trafficking. The
media sympathetic narrative about this criminal, illegal gang member has
completely fallen apart, and Trump today called Chris van Holland,
the Senator, a fool. Now Van Holland got to see
(06:45):
Garcia the salvator and President had moved Garcia to another prison.
He's in the supermax and now he's living in isolation
in a complete news blackout.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
He has no idea what's going on.
Speaker 3 (07:01):
And then Holland keeps insisting he was wrongfully deported and
that Trump is administration is lying about what this case
is about. No, this is a violent, dirtbag criminal who
want to be in prison for the rest of his life.
He's a wife beater, he's a human trafficker. God knows
what he's done. You don't live long and prosper at
a gang like MS thirteen. It is the worst gang
(07:25):
in North in North and Central America. There's no other
worst gang. Then Holland went over to this prison, he said,
he and his staff were stopped by soldiers. They were
told they were under orders to bar him from coming
(07:45):
to the prison. And then all of a sudden he
got word that he could be And then Holland got
very emotional. And why would he get emotional over a
gang member, you know who? He didn't get emotional over
an American mother named Rachel Morin. Her daughter was murdered
(08:09):
by an illegal alien in Maryland back in twenty twenty three,
and Rachel Morin was the woman murdered. The mother is
named Patty. Patty is telling the media that Van Holland
Senator Van Holland had never reached out to her since
(08:31):
her daughter was murdered, but he's holding a bris big
press conference after flying all the way to El Salvador
to have a meeting with this violent gang member. New
York Times says Van Holland is noticeably emotional, with his
voice quivering as he talks about what he has said
(08:53):
are unjust actions. This is a this is an issue
for every American.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
No, it's not.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Eighty to ninety percent of Americans absolutely don't care about
a single MS thirteen gang member. And the Trump White
House put out a social media message to Van Holland
saying that Garcia's not coming back. He's never coming back
(09:22):
to America. So you could sit you could dry your
tears and sit down. This is the wrong hill to
die on. I mean, Van Holland looks like an unhinged,
emotional wreck. This is who he gets all worked up
about this guy. I mean, they're losing on this issue. Literally,
(09:44):
eighty twenty ninety ten, nearly the whole country is in
support of deporting illegal alien criminals and gang members. Let
me tell you, normal people don't give a rats ass
about the paperwork and the protocol. And you know, where
did you file the the court papers and how did
the hearing go. Nobody cares. Just round them up, put
(10:05):
them on planes, dump them wherever you want to dump them.
And if the home country wants to put them in
a supermax because they're bad guys, that put them in
the supermax, that's that's up to the El Salvadoran president.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
When we come back.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Got to give it away one thousand dollars. We got
a round of the Moistline. Two rounds of the Moistline.
We're gonna talk to Alex Michaelson. All that ahead.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 3 (10:34):
Time for the Moistline on Fridays eight seven seven Moist
eighty six.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
Let's do round one. Hey, Sean, thanks for calling the Moistline.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
I'm so excited to hear from you.
Speaker 6 (10:44):
To bath Time Labonte, Governor Newsom, Karen Bass, Denise Canoniez.
Just think about it, people, over and over and over again.
You're paying for their elite lifestyle and there are no
consequences and scaling your money.
Speaker 4 (10:58):
Thank before you vote life, it says, don't mean life anymore.
You kill somebody, you kill your parents, you walk free.
The Menendez brothers they'll be getting out of prison, and
as soon as they come out, they're going to have
an iPhone, a book deal, the morning talk show circuit, everything.
Speaker 2 (11:15):
Why do you guys want to make the.
Speaker 4 (11:17):
Menendez brothers richer than they already are? They got money
waiting for them, even if they don't have book deals.
Speaker 7 (11:23):
On this Menendez brothers thing in the retrial and all
the relatives coming out to save them and have them released,
there is a monetary pot of gold somewhere attached to that.
That's the only reason there's something looming a will, a trust,
or something that these people want to get the fucking
hands on. That's the only reason they would stand up
for these murderers.
Speaker 8 (11:44):
These progressive mind democrats will never be able to tell
the difference between always streaking critical and actually applying critical thinking.
Speaker 7 (11:53):
The ladies that went into space, they weren't a crew.
Speaker 9 (11:57):
They were passengers. Don't make it sound like they were.
I'm notpulating the craft or astronauts in any way. They
were paid passengers, just like a passenger on an airplane
does not make me a pilot when I fly on
American airlines.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
I was listening about the LA garbage prices rising. I
live out in turn county mine went from sixty eight
dollars to one hundred and sixty three dollars.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
So I just canceled my garbage and I throw where
it did.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
I feel like it.
Speaker 10 (12:23):
All dogs have the capacity to attack in mall.
Speaker 11 (12:27):
You only hear about it, usually when it's a pit bull,
but you.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Don't hear about all the other dogs.
Speaker 12 (12:31):
That do it too. However, it's not the dog, it's
the owner.
Speaker 10 (12:36):
The owner of this pit bull who ran off like
a little coward ought to be put in jail for life.
Speaker 13 (12:41):
He is a danger to the Committy's hear him.
Speaker 7 (12:43):
Man, all I can say is I'm so tired of
us having a buffoon for a governor and an incompetent
inbecile for a mayor.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
We really are going down the toilet.
Speaker 8 (12:55):
This one seems really simple to me. They're claiming that
they are not responsible for the fire because of one
hundred and seventeen year old case law where a man
refused to pay his water bill and his mill burned down. Okay,
so any person in the Pacific Poli state buyers who
did not pay their water bill is ineligible to sue.
If you paid your water bill, you can sue.
Speaker 14 (13:15):
Yeah, no, those scam texts about the toll roads. How
manch stupid stuff does the government do that just enables
these criminals to pull these scams and the toll roads
to demag and the rebuilding and these fires, the people scammed,
and the unemployment and the COVID stuff.
Speaker 13 (13:32):
The Democrats are running the city, the county, and the state.
Speaker 12 (13:36):
Just like the Soviet Union, and no one can be
held accountable.
Speaker 2 (13:39):
When are the voter has ever been awake up regarding.
Speaker 4 (13:42):
The city not being held liable for not.
Speaker 2 (13:44):
Providing the water.
Speaker 9 (13:45):
Necessary to extinguish the fire because no contracts since there.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
Was no contract.
Speaker 15 (13:50):
Are these taxpayers do a refund for paying for something
that they thought they were entitled to but now they
find out they're not.
Speaker 1 (13:58):
Shouldn't they get some money back from their.
Speaker 9 (14:00):
Taxes that they pay California? Just think Governor Newsom, maybe
our next president.
Speaker 11 (14:06):
Oh boy, don't forget that half the country are a
bunch of deb don't even know what a tariff means.
Half the country are uneducated morons who don't even know
what half the government does or work. To put that
in your pipe and smoke at Jesus Christ.
Speaker 16 (14:23):
Really, we ain't nobody broken in it all and they
did it their tholf where worked there?
Speaker 10 (14:27):
If they did.
Speaker 15 (14:28):
It, it's not hard to figure out why companies move
their manufacturing off shore. It's because we're greedy, big greedy companies.
They don't care about American security.
Speaker 16 (14:40):
They care about money. Hey, John, I'm Jack Wagon from
North Dakota. I'm experiencing empty check book irtus because I'm
a member of the tax paying community.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
Wow, where's my help?
Speaker 4 (15:00):
Thank you for leaving your message. Please hang up goodbye.
Speaker 3 (15:05):
Last I didn't sound healthy. We have another round of
the wasistline coming up in about twenty twenty five minutes.
Alex Michaelson from Fox eleven will join us, and I
want to talk to him about his number of polls out.
Gavin Newsom, is that an all time low? Karen bass
is at an all time low. I just saw an
(15:25):
article that Republicans and the legislature are saying that they're
getting a warmer reception with tough on crime bills from
the Democrats. Is springtime finally hitting California politically? Is this
(15:46):
the beginning of a change. We'll talk about that, and
Alex is going to be filling in on Monday.
Speaker 5 (15:51):
You're listening to John Cobbel's on demand from KFI A
six forty.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Follow us on social media, John Cobelt Radio. Listen to
us on kfive from one to four every Monday through Friday,
and you can hear the show on the iHeartRadio app
posted shortly after four o'clock and it runs forever. So
you can listen to this thing tonight over the weekend.
In case you missed anything, it's the podcast John Cobelt's
Show on Demand. All right, another round of the moist
(16:19):
Line in about fifteen minutes or so. But first we
want to talk with Alex Michaelson, the news anchor at
Fox eleven, who's going to be guest hosting the show
on Monday.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Elex, how are you?
Speaker 4 (16:35):
I am so excited. I'm nervous, but I've never done
something like this. You know a lot of people. I've
never hosted a radio show. People start in the minor leagues.
I feel like I'm getting called up to the world
series hosting the big show, the John Cobalt Show. But
I am so grateful for the chance to do it,
and I'm going to work really hard on it.
Speaker 3 (16:58):
Well, I've seen you talk for seven teen hours describing
a car chase on TV. So I don't think this
will be any any trouble at all. You know, you
you probably follow politics closely more than anyone else I know,
And I noticed a few things this week. Gavin Newsom's
(17:18):
Acarney Emerson has a thirty three percent approval rating in
the state. Karen Bass has a thirty seven percent approval rating.
Almost sixty percent of the state doesn't want new Some
running for president? Uh is this the end of their careers?
Are they toast?
Speaker 4 (17:37):
Well? I do think that Emerson poll just in terms
of polling, is like one of the worst and one
of the least respected for like a lot of political
science reasons.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
So I don't know if his.
Speaker 4 (17:47):
Number is quite that low, but I do think that,
you know, broadly, you know, a presidential run for Gavin
Newsom is going to be very, very, very challenging because
a lot of the rest of the country does not
look at California and think, yeah, let's do that, right,
And so he realizes that. I think it's part of
(18:12):
the reason that he's leaning into this idea of let's
do a podcast with conservative voices, let's challenge the democratic
you know, establishment, let's admit some of our faults. Let's
have a different kind of conversation, because he realizes in
order to win, he needs to not be seen as
crazy lefty progressive symbol of this state. You know. But
(18:35):
that's a challenging thing to get away from after being
the governor of California for the last seven years. Before
that's the lieutenant governor, before that's the mayor of San Francisco.
So you know, and will Gavin Newsom would he play
in a place like New Hampshire or Iowa or South
Carolina or Michigan or some of these other states that
you would need to win to win a Democratic primary,
(18:58):
I don't know. In terms of in Bath. You know,
that's a different question because you know, the electorate in
Los Angeles is still really democratic. The city of Los
Angeles thirteen percent is Republican. So you know, if she's
able to keep the quote unquote democratic establishment together and
(19:21):
she doesn't have a great challenger, and say Rick Caruso
runs for governor or you know, and somebody really strong
doesn't run, there is a chance that she could win
again and bring people home and and that you know,
and then you know, the time happens and she's able
to move on. But if she gets a really strong,
well funded opponent, she could have a tough time. And
(19:42):
I don't think it's impossible to imagine that she may
decide not to run for reelection again because the challenges
are so great.
Speaker 3 (19:50):
If not being here for the Great Palisades Fire, but
keep her from getting re elected. I mean, it is
really all that matters is the letter at to your
name on the ballot? I mean, is that the extent
that people think think of when when they're when they're voting,
it's like, well, what is it a d or R
or an independent?
Speaker 2 (20:10):
It's a dal okay in there.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Yeah, it's more than that. I mean, it's also you know, John,
I mean you think of and I'm sure a lot
of people in your worldview, you know that live with
respect west of the four h five, you know, weren't
voting for her anyways. You know, Rick Carusha won the
Palisades with sixty four percent. The question for Karen Bass
is is she winning South LA? Is she winning East La?
(20:34):
Do the people that got her there are they abandoning
her in droves? And we don't have evidence of that yet.
There's a lot of people who are disappointed with her
job performance. But if she starts losing those communities, that
could be a real problem. And another huge potential problem
for her is this budget. On Monday, she's going to
be announcing her budget. She has her state of the city.
You know, she's got a potential billion dollar deficit that
(20:57):
she's got to deal with. And what you to do
that you have to start cutting places, and by doing that,
you start making enemies. So a lot of these unions
or other democratic special interests that have stood with her
over the years, if all of a sudden she stops
the handouts to them because you have to cut somewhere,
and you can't cut fire department right now, you got
(21:19):
to cut some of these other programs, and they start
going against her. That could potentially be the kind of
thing where maybe she decides, you know, I can't I
can't sustain this, I can't even run. I don't know,
but that could be a real problem.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, I wonder how much of the city actually cares
about what happened in the Palisades three months later.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
That's my point that you know, if you're living in
those other neighborhoods that may not be the driving issue
for you. Obviously you live right by there and know
so many people that are impacted by it. But a
lot of these other people who may not be in
that situation is actually a bigger percentage of what Los
Angeles is.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
I also saw something just today in Calm Matters that
some Republicans up in the legislature are seeing a warmer
reception for their crime bills. Like there's a state Senator,
Brian Jones, He's been trying for four years to get
a bill passed that would block sex offenders from being
(22:24):
released from prison for elderly parole. Can you imagine sex
offenders they get elderly parole. And also he's got another
one that he got unanimous approval for in a committee
that regulations on how quickly state hospitals release sexually violent predators.
Speaker 2 (22:46):
And I wonder if this is signs that they're that.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
That that they're starting to get a little bit nervous
up in Sacramento, that the public has had it with
a lot of policies, especially the soft done crime policies.
Speaker 4 (23:00):
I mean, look at what happened with Prop thirty six,
the effort to overturn Prop forty seven and make changes there.
The entire Democratic establishment, with the exception of a few
smart mayors who were ahead of the curve. On that,
the entire Democratic establishment, the governor, all the state leaders
all said vote no, vote no, vote no, and then
seventy percent of the state votes yes, including a majority
(23:23):
of the Democratic Party. George Gascone, the soft on crime,
progressive DA, he gets booted, chesa Boutean up in San Francisco.
He gets booted. I mean, you know, politicians can look
at poles, they can look at trends, and the most
important thing for most politicians is saving their own behinds.
(23:44):
So the voters are sending a pretty clear message in
the most progressive areas of this city, they're sick of
this stuff. You look at somebody like Daniel Luriy, the
now mayor of San Francisco, because London Breed got ousted
because people were upset with the crime situation there. The
fact that Barbara Leave is icon of Oakland. It could
(24:05):
end up losing a race for mayor against a more
moderate candidate who's not as well known because people are
concerned about some of these crime issues and some of
these basic competence issues. You know, there may not be
an opening for a Republican right now, but there certainly
is an opening for more republican ideas and more centrist
Democrats to win, because I think a lot of moderate
(24:28):
Democrats in this state are frustrated with the status quo.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Centrist Democrats would be great compared to what we've got now. Well,
that's why, going back to our first discussion, if there's
some wants someone for president, he needs a win on
one of these things.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I would think, rather.
Speaker 3 (24:44):
Than having right wing guys on his stupid podcast, why
wouldn't he once and for all get the legislature to
pass like criminal laws against homelessness, something dramatic where we're
not putting up with this anymore, We're not going to
live this way anymore. Use that as something to launch
him to introduce himself to the rest of the country.
Speaker 4 (25:07):
I wouldn't be surprised it doesn't care about his podcast. Yeah,
I wouldn't be surprised if he got there, honestly. I mean,
and you see somebody sort of who's doing some of that,
as the mayor of San Jose, Matt Mayheon, who just
did pass a bill to try to, you know, criminalize
homelessness in that area. And if you look at the
(25:29):
polls of a new poll that came out this week
from Politico, increasingly people are in favor of that idea
across the state. And Newsome is frustrated with the homelessness issue,
and I actually think he's trending there. I could see
that happening before the end of the year, exactly what
you just said.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
All right, tonight, you got the issue is At ten thirty.
Who's on.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
We've got Rob Bonta, the Attorney General of California, talking
about the lawsuits that he's doing against the the state
and met players pushing back on those. We've got a
panel with Bob Shrum from USC on the left, Jessica
Milan Patterson, the former chair of the California Republican Party
on the right. And then on Monday, the John Cobalt Show. Yes,
(26:15):
he's got quite a lineup set up. We've got Harvey
levin Fox News, is Bill Malusian, Melanie Mason from Politico,
Jovann Bouja from The Athletic talking about the Lakers. We've
got Supervisor Captain Barger, the chair of the Board of Supervisors.
All that's just where we're starting. We'll see what happens
over the weekend. But and that's a line up with
(26:37):
Tim Conway Jr.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
Yeah yeah, that's a lineup of heavy hitters. All right.
Speaker 3 (26:41):
So you can see Alex tonight at ten thirty. The
issue is his talk show. He's got a guest host
here on Monday from one until fourth and he anchors
the local news almost any hour of the day or night.
Just turn on Fox eleven and I guess you have
a sleeping bag under the anchor desk and they just
poke you and tell you.
Speaker 2 (27:01):
To sit And that's it.
Speaker 4 (27:03):
What's your biggest piece of advice?
Speaker 2 (27:05):
John here? Oh, just do what you just did.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
Yes, you were passionate and focused and knowledgeable and yeah no,
just let it go. People are gonna have a good
time listening to you. So I'll talk to you soon.
Thank you for filling in on Monday.
Speaker 4 (27:23):
Thank you very very much for the opportunity. We'll try
not to screw it up too badly because all of
us can't wait till you get back.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
All right, Alex Michael said, thank you from Fox eleven,
and he'll be on Monday. When we returned, We're going
to have another round of the moistline round two.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
You're listening to John Cobel on demand from KFI AM.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
Six forty round two of the Moistline. Let's go, man, John,
thanks for calling the Moistline. I'm so excited to hear
from you to bath time.
Speaker 11 (27:54):
I'm so tired of hearing these people we say they
didn't get due process, they didn't get their cost two.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
To those people, I say in North Korea, go to China.
Speaker 15 (28:03):
Go to Russia, go to Venezuela and sneak into the country,
demand free stuff, and then ask.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
Where your due processes?
Speaker 6 (28:13):
When you get taught and they're gonna.
Speaker 13 (28:15):

and complaining.
