which is in the northern portion of the state, right
above Sacramento. We just wrapped up a rally for No
on Prop fifty and a signature drive for the California
(01:10):
Voter ID Initiative here in Chico this morning. We were
in Marysville yesterday. Last night we were in San Jose
where we.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Had over four hundred.

and I'll give it to you personally. The California Voter
Idea Initiative a game changer in California to restore the
integrity of our elections and to really light a fire
(03:14):
under politicians to hold them accountable for us.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
We the people.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
So let's get into today's show. I want to talk
a little bit more about Proposition fifty and I want
to talk a bit more about what we're trying to
do at Reform California. This is the political movement that
I lead. It's a grassroots movement. We believe that the
two political parties have failed us. We believe that our
(03:40):
political system is fundamentally corrupt, and that in order to
make progress on any issue, whether it's the cost of
living or wild land fire or crime or homelessness or
improving the quality of schools, in order to make progress
on all the problems that we're faced with, we must
(04:01):
reform the broken political system we have. I don't believe
that we have a true opposition party in California. Oh.
I'm a member of the Republican Party and I serve
as a Republican state legislator. But I am inside the
belly of the beast, and I'm telling you there is
no real opposition party in Sacramento. It's been more of
(04:22):
a UNI party. Now that is changing, and I appreciate
a lot of my colleagues actually.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Joining the fight that we're waging.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
But we cannot assume that the elected officials, even on
the Republican side, are going to fight for us. We
must force them to fight for us by creating this
grassroots movement.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
That's what Trump did with MAGA.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
I believe we must use similar dynamics here in California.
And I don't necessarily think that it's just going to
be Republican. I am thrilled when a Democrats or an
independent voter joins our fight. Any commitment to common sense,
that's what's going to be needed in order for us
(05:09):
to move the needle here in California. So I would
like you to check out our website, Reform California dot org.
If you're not already on our list, please sign up.
We give you a weekly news wrap, the sort of
news that you won't get from the liberal media that's
at Reform California dot org.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Reform California dot org.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
Go to the bottom of the site and just put
in your first name, last name, email, phone, and zip code.
We like sending you information that relates to what's happening locally.
That's why we ask for your zip code. But please
sign up. If you're not signed up, you're not engaged,
you're not tethered into the movement.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
And of course I have my own podcast.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Every day on YouTube, Reform California with Carl Demayo. Follow
that and you'll get an update every day at five
o'clock on a hot story, the latest happenings in California
news and politics. So Prop fifty we have a special election.
You have to get your ballot in by November fourth.
Prop fifty is Gavin Newsom's corrupt redistricting scheme. We covered
(06:09):
it yesterday, but I want to talk a little bit
about where we are with ballot returns, because this is
the fight of our lives. We have a two front
war for fair elections. You need obviously the Voter Ide
initiative that I've authored and that we're collecting signatures on,
and you can get all that information at voterid initiative
dot com, including printing and signing the petition.
Speaker 3 (06:31):
But you also need to have fair districts.
Speaker 2 (06:33):
You can't let the politicians seize the power back from
the people, the citizens independent Redistricting Commission to then manipulate
the lines of their districts. Because if you let politicians
manipulate election lines, they end up choosing the voters versus
the voters choosing the politicians. It is corrupt, it is
(06:55):
anti democratic. It literally silences large swaths of voters. So
it is completely and utterly wrong.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
It is unfair.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
I have to chuckle at the rhetoric that Newsom is
using and even some voters that are saying, I'm voting
for your Prop fifty because I need to save democracy,
what by destroying it in order.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
To save democracy. We must kill it in order to
stop Trump. We need to basically do all the things
that we accuse Trump of doing.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Texas is rigging their elections, so we should rig ours too. Wait.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Wait, so two wrongs make it right? Now?
Speaker 2 (07:39):
You learned it in kindergarten that that's not the case,
and I'm telling you, your children are watching you. The
ends don't justify the means. Ever, don't cut off your
nose despite your face and what you're doing by voting
yes on Prop fifty. If you are voting yes, and
tell your friends this is you know you're doing something wrong.
(07:59):
But I think that it's morally acceptable to do something
wrong because you're trying to do something right down the line.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
What you're doing is.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
You're getting rid of the gold standard in how we
should be drawing lines in California, which is, don't let
the politicians draw the lines.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
It should be the citizens, not the politicians. And I've
seen it up close and personal.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
They literally traded their votes in Sacramento, literally traded their
votes for congressional districts, politicians saying, oh, I'll vote for
a redistricting scheme as long as I get a district
for myself that's the corruption of jerry mandering. It's not
(08:43):
about you, the voter or the voice of the community.
It's about their political.
Speaker 3 (08:48):
Careers coming up.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
I'm going to give you ballot return numbers and I'm
gonna tell you why it doesn't look good for Republicans
right now.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
But it's still fixable.
Speaker 2 (08:58):
We can still win this fight, but it's going to
take a big push by all of you. Plus, I
want you to stay tuned because we're going to have
both leading Republican candidates for California governor on the show today.
Steve Hilton's joining us at one point thirty and Riverside
Sheriff Chad Bianco is joining us at two o'clock. And
I'll ask them tough questions. I'll let them make the
(09:20):
case to you, which do you prefer use the talkback
feature on the iHeartRadio app and let me know if
you have a preferred candidate right now for California governor
on the Republican side. All that and more, as Carl
Demyo Yours Truly fills in for John Cobelt on KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
You're listening to John Coblt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 2 (09:44):
We're talking about Prop fifty and we've got the fight
of our lives on our hands. This is the special
election November fourth, and I'm urging everyone return your ballot
right now. Do not wait until election day. That will
create long lines at polling centers. Conservatives vote on election day,
(10:04):
and that's why the Democrats have cut the number of
polling centers by eighty percent.
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Democrats vote by mail.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
They get their votes in early, and so that's why
their votes are not at risk of not being counted.
Do you know that if you walk your mail in
ballot in on election day it increases the risk it
won't be counted because your mail in ballot being walked
in on a to a polling center on election day
is put at the end of the counting process. It's
(10:32):
not counted on the same day that you cast it.
And so I would like you to mail your ballot
by five o'clock tomorrow night or return it to a
drop box either or well, I'm not trusting the mailing
the US Postal Service. See what we're gonna do is
we're gonna use the Postal Service. We're going to use
the dropbox, but we're going to verify we're going to
(10:53):
track it, and so you can go to the website
track my ballot dot org. Track my ballot dot org
to vote, buy mail by five o'clock tomorrow or dropbox
by five o'clock tomorrow, and then track your ballot at
trackmyballot dot org to make sure it was received and counted.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
If your ballot's not received.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
And counted by next week, the thirty first Halloween, I
want you to go and ask for a replacement ballot
at one of the polling centers and vote before election day.
You're entitled to a replacement ballot if you mail it
this week and it's not received and counted by the
thirty first.
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Look, we got to vote smart.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
And right now I'm not seeing enough Republicans voting in
the election for Prop fifty against fifty. They're not returning
their ballot in the Prop fifty question, and my hope
is that you're all voting no.
Speaker 3 (11:45):
There are twenty two.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Million twenty three million now registered voters in the state
of California. Twenty three million registered voters, and of that
twenty three million, about ten point four million are Democrats,
about six point nine million are Independents, and five point
eight million are Republican. But in terms of who's return
(12:09):
ballots so far, Democrats are overperforming and Republicans are not
performing well enough. So of the two point six million
ballots return so far, which is about eleven percent turnout,
we are seeing fifty one percent of the ballots being
(12:32):
returned by Democrats and only twenty eight percent of the
ballots being returned by Republicans. That means that Democrats are
outperforming their voter registration share by about six percent. Republicans
are only outperforming their voter registration share by three percent. Republicans,
(12:53):
you gotta pick up the pace and return your ballots.
And there are, as I said, five point eight million Republicans.
If all of them vote no Prop fifty will be
defeated because Democrats in a midterm election a special election
don't one turnout. You know, voter registration might give them
(13:14):
an advantage, but turnout is everything in special elections, and
Democrats have a hard time turning out their cemetery votes
in special elections. Something about dead people and special elections
they just don't quite go go hand in hand. I
know I'm joking, but not entirely. We need everyone to
(13:36):
return their ballot now do fight til election day. Turnout
is not good enough on the Republican side, and right now,
the polling show that Newsom is getting about fifty percent
yes vote, Republicans are about forty four percent no vote,
and the rest are undecided. But the silver lining here,
(13:58):
while we're down by you know, six points, five points,
the silver lining is that some of the yes vote
that Newsom currently has at the fifty percent mark are.
Speaker 3 (14:08):
Very weak voters.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
They're inclined to vote yes, but they haven't quite decided yet,
and so they could change your mind. And that's why
I'm giving you the message points. As you engage with
friends and family about Prop fifty, I need you to
point out to them that the ends don't justify the means,
(14:32):
that by voting yes on Prop fifty, you're giving up
the gold standard, You're handing the power back to the politicians,
that two wrongs don't make a right. Don't cut off
your nose to spite your face, because these the five
or six percentage points of yes votes that Newsom has
right now that are kind of squishy, weak on the fence,
(14:52):
could be persuaded. They are fair people, and they know
that what they're doing is wrong, but they really don't
want to dwell on it. I need you to get
them to really reconsider and point out the obvious that
you know what you're doing is wrong. You know you're
ringing the election. You know that you're silencing communities. You
know what you're doing is going to create unfair districts.
(15:16):
So why are you doing it? Fair minded people? While
they might initially say I'm going to vote yes, if
you cause them to pause and weigh the moral question here,
what's right, what's fair, they will ultimately.
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Break. In my opinion, towards now. This is still a
fight we can win. We are down.
Speaker 2 (15:45):
I am worried as heck, which is why I need
you to return your ballot now. Do not wait and
get a bunch of your friends to vote as well.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Don't count on them to vote. They get busy, they forget.
Get them to return their ballot now.
Speaker 2 (15:57):
Bank the vote now, and talk to some of those
Democrat and independents that might be yes right now and
nudge them with a moral argument.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Carl Tomayo here.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
Sitting in for John Coblt on AM six forty KFI.
He is off for a few days and That's why
I'm keeping the seat warm. And I want you to
use the talkback feature on the iHeartRadio app to ask
me any question, raise any issue, because this is.
Speaker 3 (16:22):
A conversation each afternoon.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Coming up, we're going to talk to Steve Hilton, Republican
candidate for governor.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
What's his plan to win? Could he win? I think so?
Speaker 2 (16:30):
But we'll also talk to his opponent, Chad Bianco at
two o'clock. We're fair conversation today. Both Republican candidates for
governor will be joining me making their case to you,
and i'd like your feedback on the talk back feature
on the iHeart Radio app.
Speaker 4 (16:46):
You're listening to John Cobels on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
Carl Demayo here filling in stat a semi member and
chairman of Reform California. You can catch it on iHeartRadio
app up and if you miss anything, you can always
listen to one of our podcasts. They go up after
four o'clock every day. People ask me, Carl, can we
ever get a Republican to get elected as governor in California?
(17:12):
And I say yes, It will require two things. Number one,
it requires California voter ID. We've got to get voter
D enacted to have a fair election. So if you
want to see elections become fair in California, sign the
petition at voter ID Initiative dot com. You got to download, print,
(17:34):
sign and mail it back to me Voter ID Initiative
dot com. While you're at it, get a volunteer kit,
get some extra signatures Voter ID Initiative dot com.
Speaker 3 (17:44):
So number one is Voter i D.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
Number two we need a great candidate who's going to
run a really good campaign. And so today I want
to turn our attention to the governor's race in twenty
twenty six. There are two leading candidates on the Republican
side for governor, Steve Hilton, Fox News Comment and Chad Bianco,
the Riverside sheriff. Both are going to be on the
show today to make their case. And I want you
(18:07):
to use the iHeartRadio app talkback feature to give me
your feedback who you're going to vote for, who should
we support reform California. It will make an endorsement in
this race because I want to make sure we get
at least one Republican into the runoff in the twenty
twenty sixth general election. Joining me on KFI AM six
forty is Steve Hilton, our first candidate for governor.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
Steve, thanks so.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
Much, and by the way, thanks for joining me on
this bus tour we've been on statewide collecting senatures for
voter ID and rallying the no on Prop fifty.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Cause.
Speaker 5 (18:40):
Well, it's great to be with you today, Carlin. Fantastic
to see you over the weekend. Look, we've got a
fight for this state and exactly as you said, I mean,
we've got this battle right now on Prop fifty. We've
got to defeat Gavin Newsom's on constitutional election rigging scheme.
I've been in the courts trying to stop that as well,
so we don't weigh three hundred million dollars of our
money on it. And then the big one is vote
(19:02):
for ID, exactly as you say, because it's not just
about stopping them cheating. It's also about getting the big
turnout we need for the election next year to take
back our state and put California back on the right track.
And people want the change. I mean there's a majority
now in California, a sizable majority of people who want change,
(19:22):
sixty five percent. You made this point when we were
together over the weekend, sixty five percent of Californians say
that we're going in the wrong direction. Now we can say, like,
who are the rest of the people who think we're
going in the right direction? When we got these insane
policies that have given us the highest gas prices, highest
cost for everything, housing, you name it, the highest how,
(19:42):
the highest electric bills, worst unemployment rate, worst poverty rate, crime, homelessness,
everything's a disaster in California. Of course, we need to
go in a new direction, but we've got to get
people to turn out and vote for it. That's what
my campaign is all about. Positive, simple things that people
can get behind. Three dollars gas, cut your electric bills
in half, a home you can afford, no more free
(20:04):
healthcare for illegal immigrants. That money should be spent in
better ways. You know, there are so many things that
we need to change, but they're all practical, common sense things.
And the final thing I'll say, Carl is some people
may know me from the TV. I was on Fox
News for many years. Most of my career has been
in business. I've started and run companies both sides of
the Atlantic. I'm originally from the UK, moved here with
(20:25):
my wife and twusns in twenty twelve, became an American
in twenty twenty one. But you know, I've been a
small business owner. I know the pain of that in California,
the struggles of small businesses, and I had to fix that.
And I've worked inside of a government. I was. I
helped elect a prime minister in the UK. I was
senior advisor in ten Downing Street battling the bureaucracy. So
(20:46):
I got the business experience, the government reform experience, and
the media platform, and I think that's a good combination
to fight and win here in California.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
So it's a blue state, it's a blue state. What's
your plan to way? How are you going to defy
the odds? What do you bring to the table, what's
your strategy to eke out the win.
Speaker 5 (21:09):
It's very simple. We've got a fight for the people
who've been most hurt by this fifteen years of one
party rule that's given us this totally corrupt system in
California where the rich get richer and regular working people
get screwed. That's what's going on in California. And I
think that what we're going to build here. And this
is the way we win is the kind of coalition
(21:32):
that you saw around the country that put President Trump
in office, especially this time round, which is a multi racial,
working class coalition, working people who are just getting absolutely
hammered by these costs gas prices. You know, regular people
are driving their trucks and their cars two, three, four
hours a day because housing costs are so high, you
(21:53):
have to live miles away from where you work. That's
why the first pledge that I made was we get
to roll back the climate nonsense that the Democrats have
put in. So we consider five dollar gas, which we
have now heading higher if projections are correct, three dollar gas.
That's something that will make an immediate difference to so
many people. We've got to cut the bills, the cost
(22:15):
that people pay if you run a small business, the
nightmare regulations, the lawsuits, these pager lawsuits. Anyone who runs
a restaurant or a bars, you're hit by these extortionate lawsuits.
As governor, I can stop that in its tracks. And
so I think the path to victory is a simple, positive,
pro worker plan that says we're going to make your
(22:36):
life better. We're going to deal with and restore the
California dream. That's really what it's about. A good job
where you make enough to raise your family in a
home of your own, in a safe neighborhood with a
good school so your kids have a better life. That's
what the theme of my campaign is, make California golden again.
We're the best place in the world. There's nowhere better
than California. But these people in fifteen years have just
(22:59):
completely wrecked. But we can get things back on track
pretty quickly. And it's all about that working class coalition,
Latinos in particular, the largest group now in California. They
can't stand what's going on, the assault on family values,
So what the nonsense in our public schools? All of
that stuff, I think is actually it's really ready for
the taking. But I do want to come back to
(23:20):
vote tridcon.
Speaker 2 (23:21):
Wait hold on, yeah, we have to take a check
to take take a ticket, check on traffic and some news.
But I want to hold you over another segment because
I think part of it is not just can you
win a general election, which we would love to get
a Republican to win, but the grassroots have been burned
by sellout rhinos in the past people who let us down.
(23:45):
So I want you to make the case as to
why you are better than any.
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Other Republican running.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
But we have to check on traffic, so and news,
so just hold your hold your jets. Right there, we're
going to be talking with Steve Hilton, candidate booking candidate
for California Governor. It's Carl Tomayo, sombing member and Reform
California Chairman, sitting in today for John Cobelt on kf
I AM six forty. Coming up, we'll talk more with
Steve Hilton.
Speaker 4 (24:13):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
Carl Demayo filling in for John Cobolt. We're talking to
Steve Hilton, Republican candidate for governor. Can a Republican actually
win the governor's race in twenty twenty six?
Speaker 3 (24:28):
I believe so.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
But it's going to take California voter ID and you
need to sign the initiative at voter id initiative dot com,
download it, print it, mail it back after signing it
to us. But also the right candidate, someone who's got
a great message and is going to work hard and
then not sell us out. When they get into office.
(24:50):
Steve Hilton on that question, a lot of Republicans have
been burned by previous elected officials like Arnold Schwarzeneger. How
would you be different? How can you speak to voters
on the Republican side or the center right as to
why you should be the Republican nominee? Why should you
be chosen over other good Republicans.
Speaker 5 (25:13):
Well, first of all, on the sellout point, I mean, Carl,
people going to look at my track record, unlike most candidates,
so there's years of there's more than enough of me
on the record on these issues, and people can see
how consistent I've been and the positions I've taken, and
it's all there on all the big issues. But I
think that in terms of both winning and then doing
(25:34):
a good job for me, it's not necessarily about the
difference in oppositions. You're going to hear from Chad later on.
We pretty much agree on the policy matters mostly, you know,
I'm on the road, I've done events with him. We
have a good relationship. Talk to Chad on the phone.
It's not about that. I mean, we may have light disagreements,
I think, you know, for example, on immigration, he's been
(25:55):
you know, he's put some distance between you know, the
president's position on mimigration enforcement and the role of his
deputies and so on. But generally speaking, I think we're
on the same page on most of the big issues.
I think that what I would say positively in terms
of what I offer is that combination of business experience,
government reform experience across a broad range of policies, not
(26:19):
just one issue, but all of the big issues that
a governor will have to handle. And thanks to my
years at Fox News and involvement in politics in America,
a set of national level relationships that will really help
us here in California, both in terms of winning the
election and then in terms of helping California's I mean,
you just look at who was there for me on
(26:39):
day one of my campaign endorsing me for governor from
you know, Charlie Kirk, a good friend of mine for
nearly ten years. Of course we miss him terribly, but
you know, he was very committed to not just personally
supporting me, but using turning point, they've done a great
job in developing voter turnout operations that help the president.
Bringing that to California for my race. You've got, you know,
(26:59):
viv Ramaswami, Kevin Kyleie, John Voight representing Hollywood. And then
just just look at the administration. You know when I'm
when I'm governor, we'll have a governor that is you know,
it's friends with the President, friends with half the cabinet,
Brooke Rollins for our egg industry, Sean Duffy, Pete Haigzeth Tolsi, Gabbard.
(27:20):
You know, Doug Berger Interir is going to make a
huge difference for us in California. I've got those relationships
and I think that's what's going to make the difference here.
And I think you need someone in this race who
cannot only get the grassroots mobilized with a clear, common
sense conservative message here in California, but can play on
the national stage. This is a big race and we
need a big figure to win, and I'm very confident
(27:44):
I can pull it off. It's not going to be easy,
but it's not impossible, and that means we have to
go for it.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
Tell me where people can go to get more information,
perhaps contribute to your campaign, or volunteer and get involved.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Thank you, Carl, Thank you very much. That's what we
need to build a volunteer army. We're doing that right now.
Steve Hilton for Governor dot Com f O R. Steve
Hilton for Governor dot Com. Would love anyone and everyone
to get involved. As I said, I think we can
do this, but it's going to be all of us.
And as you always say, it's a grassroots movement that's
going to do this for California. That's what we need
(28:18):
to build.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
All right, Steve Hilton, Republican candidate for a governor. We
will be catching up with you as you make progress
on the campaign trail. And as Steve just mentioned, Chad Bianco,
his opponent, not really his opponent, his fellow Republicans seeking
your support in the nomination in the primary. We'll be
with us right after two o'clock to make his case.
(28:40):
We are very equal here. We want to give you
both leading candidates and let you decide. Please do sound
off in the iHeartRadio app the talk back feature, let
me know who you're supporting and raise any questions you
might have about these candidates. At Reform California, we hope
(29:00):
to narrow the field down to one candidate by issuing
an endorsement. Working for that candidate because Republicans don't have
the money to fight in a primary against each other,
and worse, because we have a broken election system in
California where it is possible that Republicans split the vote
and then two Democrats would go into the runoff in
(29:24):
the general election, and then you're given a choice in
the general election of two Democrats, which is choose to
be hung or shot. I mean, it's just you don't
have a choice, it's two liberals. I'd like to make
sure we get at least a Republican in the runoff,
and I want the strongest Republican that we can trust
to fight for us and run the best campaign to
(29:44):
potentially win.
Speaker 3 (29:45):
And yes, I do believe.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
It's Wina them, But as I mentioned, it takes the
right candidate, and it takes California Voter ID. So you
know what, if you're not willing or ready to commit
to one candidate or the other right now, you can
help any of the candidates out from Congress down to
state Assembly, to state Senate, to school board and to
governor just by making sure we get the California Voter
(30:07):
ID initiative on the ballot for this election. Go to
voter ID Initiative dot com. Download, print, sign and mail
back the petition voter ID Initiative dot com. And if
you're willing to get extra signatures, I will pay the
postage to send you a petition kit. You can request
one at that same website, voter ID Initiative dot com.
Speaker 3 (30:31):
I've got so much more coming up.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
Give your questions and sound off on the iHeartRadio app.
