Speaker 1 (00:04):
What's good everybody. Welcome to the sixth Jordan Porter Podcast,
where it's time going. As you can see, I am
repping my Oregon States Beavers coming off of the dub
in Corvallis. When a crazy game. I watched it. It
was wild. I was laving. I was watching my brother.
Oh my gosh, boys, was down I think thirty one

(00:24):
to ten and ended up coming back winning the game.
Shout out to the Bees man, Shout to Coach Smith,
shout out of Coach Bray. All you guys down there
in Corvallis. Over there, I guess you guys are over there. Um,
I hope you're enjoying the victory. Man. That was a big,
big dub, huge for the state of Oregon, huge for Corvallis.

(00:44):
I was just I was super hype man, it was.
It was awesome to see. Um. But yeah, we got
a great show for you today, obviously us coming off
of a big doug. I don't you know what's crazy
these last you know, Oh my gosh, we played two
played three game, two games in five days. You know,
I'm gonna s thought we we played Cleveland last week,

(01:05):
but we played the Lions, you know, and it's just
all starting to blurry. And we play another game in
two days. Uh, we got the Patriots on Thursday night.
But let's talk about the Big Dub and the uh
in Detroit once again. Back to back weeks going to Detroit.
What a crazy, crazy couple of weeks. Twenty five on
the last second field goal, Um, holy cow, man, offense

(01:27):
just went crazy that last that last drive, Josh the Diggs.
That would be legendary forever. You will see that probably
just on highlights for the rest of Bills era. Uh,
what an awesome game. Man. Obviously, you know some things
on defense we want to get can tell you to
work on. I mean, that's every game though. You know
you're not gonna obviously you're not gonna win. Look, you're
not gonna go in and and win every game. Zero.

(01:49):
You wish you could. You wish you could go in
and just shut teams out. That was a good off.
That's a good football team. Look the Lions, their coach, well, um,
they play hard and those guys that they play together.
That's a good football team. And you know, I'm you know,
like I said, you're not gonna go in to dominate
every single game. You know, obviously, we want to work
on some things going into New England. But we did

(02:10):
get the dub. Nonetheless, Tyler Bass on the last second
field go man with a crazy, crazy way. He came
back off of missing a missing an extra point and
then being able to just have that dog in the
teabek of that dog in im. I swear, I don't
care if you miss it. I know he's gonna come
back and get his get back. But he got the
game winner. Uh uh offense, like I said, it's gets

(02:32):
the field goal starting driving twenty three seconds left. I mean,
that's that's Josh Allen. Man, it's Josh Allen. Bro. Josh
Allen did connect over the middle, huge play um and uh,
like I said, we got the big up. It was fun,
fun to be a part of. Uh. We're on the
road again Thursday nights in New England. Oh oh, they

(02:55):
don't like us. We don't like them. That's Robert has
been going on for decades. You know. The Patriots have
been been the division at the top of the division forever. Bills.
We finally, you know what I'm saying, We finally got
a couple of division titles. So this is this is
it's a clash man. Like I said, anytime you're going
to New England, it's it's always fun. Man. It's a

(03:16):
hustle environment. I love hustle environments. I lets just get
get you juices. He just just get you going. Man.
I love when they running out and they're just everybody's
booing you. Everybody's talking, saying ship to you that it's
just about your mama, about your dad and throwing hot dot.
Now I'm just kidding. Ain't throwing hot dogs. But I
love hustle environments. I love that, And so I'm excited

(03:38):
to go to New England and play the New England Patriots.
Good football team obviously. Yes, the Patriots coming off a
tough loss against the Vikings last week. Um, they're gonna
want thing. They're gonna want to get back. You know,
they're gonna want to get back. This is gonna be
one of those type of games whereas Bloody Knuckles Buddy,
those type of games. Um, you know, like I said,
I don't like us, we don't like them. And this

(03:59):
is what football is all about. Man. Yeah, these these
these schedules crazy. Thanks NFL. We got we had the
snow obviously, had to move our home game to Detroit,
and then we went back to Detroit, played Detroit on
the road again, and then now we're going on the
road again to on Thursday night football. Second Thursday night
game in a row. Actually, I didn't even know that

(04:20):
was the thing. I didn't know you could do that.
But it is my first time playing back back Thursday
night games. Um, and we have a like I said,
another one another one in two days and it has been.
My body actually feels pretty good like uh, granted I
was sick a couple of days ago. It's a little
flu going around and I flew a little bug going around. Um.

(04:40):
Apparently everybody when we got back from Detroit, even some
of the fans I heard we got back from Detroit
end up getting sick. My body usually fights it pretty good.
I don't get sick ever, honestly, And you know, I
felt to start to come m I had about probably
eighteen hour period where I felt pretty I didn't have
a fever. I had aches and chills. How was about it?

(05:02):
It was weird, um, but it went away. I'm ready now.
I feel alive now. I had a couple of ibs
throughout the week. Feel great, um, But but yeah, this
is our third game, and I think a span of
fourteen fourteen days, maybe less than that. Um, I love that.
I love that. Though I love it. I mean you

(05:22):
just get to go play, you know, the more opportunity
you get to go out there and play. Um, you know,
and but after this, you know, we're getting a nice
little break obviously, gotta handle business. Um. You know, we
have kind of a little mini by and and then
we got the last stretch of stretch of games. But
we gotta handle this one first. Like I said, the
uh Patriots good football team, man, really good, really good defense. Um. Offense,

(05:44):
you know they've been that offense is has always as
as always going to present it's it's it's troubles. Um.
They're always gonna come with some with some with something new,
something maybe you haven't seen. Mac Jones is throwing the ball. Well,
I think he's got a hunt in fifty uh hundred
fifty attempts without an interception, which is top five in

(06:08):
the league right now. Um, so I mean that's pretty solid.
You know, he's taking care of the ball. Running backs
they run well, man, they run hard. We're gonna have
to tackle and uh, you know, the wide receivers is
and and tight ends always, um, huge skill set for them.
John new Smith got a lot of respect for Hunter,
Henry I got a lot of respect for um, you know,
obviously on the outside, Jakobe Myers, Nelson, aguilar, Um. You

(06:31):
know those guys. Those guys have been doing it for
a long time. Um. And you know Parker, you gotta
put him in the mix too. He's able to go
downfield and make contested catches, and so we're not to
play well to win. It's a good football team, like
I said, division rival. Uh, this is what you played
a game for, man, this is this is the NFL
football you know. By the way, elbow is doing good. Um,

(06:53):
still gotta wear the brace, probably for the rest of
the season, which is fine. It's fine. I feel like
the brace makes me look like, you know, make me
look a lot more badass out there, is cool. So
I funk with it. Um. Yeah, Thanksgiving, Holy cow, hope
everybody had a great Thanksgiving. Where did I mean? Like
I said, time is just in a blur right now. Um,

(07:15):
I don't even I didn't even know what day. To me,
my body it's telling me it's Friday because we play
on on Thursday, so you know, our whole week's routine
was was basically a normal week after the Thursday night game. Um,
and then you know we kind of transitioned into a
normal week. So yeah, like my Sunday was my uh
was my Wednesday, My Monday was my Thursday. Obviously in

(07:39):
today being a Friday, we had fast Friday practice. Travel
tomorrow off to New England. But how did I spend
my Thanksgiving? Obviously, we got the victory and then I
came home and my wife's bless her soul, she made
her first turkey and it was amazing so delicious. Went
and picked my brother up after we landed at the airport,
picking my brother up, came home him and just spent

(08:00):
the spent the hot spent the Thanksgiving with my wife,
my daughter, and my brother. Uh. Wife just threw down
all day while she while she watched the game, and
uh came home to a perfectly cooked meal. Man, it
was awesome. Got the victory, came home and spent time
with the family, ason food. Um, you know, I couldn't
ask for a better Thanksgiving. Honestly, it was it was
it was. It was very pretty special. So also, uh, yeah,

(08:24):
I just want to shout out to Bills Mafia, Bills
Mafia showing out both in Detroit and Detroit twice, two
times because the second time y'all were y'all were allowed to.
I mean, shoot, there were some third downs out there
were getting the crowd going and it was it's dope. Anyways,
let's get into one of my favorite segments, de fact

(08:45):
or cap we got this. It looks like some good
ones right here, Ladies and gentlemen, all right, Stephen A.
Smith once again on The Factor Cap Show, Stephen, I
love you. The attempt on Jerry Jones was canceled. Culture
trying to undermine everything he has done because of the
because of the pictures five years ago when he was
fourteen or fifteen years old, and it's not fair to him.
I don't think that it is fair to to Jerry

(09:07):
Jones um in a sense that we don't know, I mean,
we don't know the Yeah, I know, you'll seen the
Forrest Gump clip where Forrest Gump is is trying to
wonder what was going on at the school and they
told him that there's a bunch of black people trying
to come to school with him, and he's like, oh,
you know, that's pretty cool. And one of them drops

(09:27):
their book and he goes up and gets the book
and hands it to one of the one of the
young African American ladies and say, hey, man, you dropped
your book. And it's just he's just kind of oblivious
to the idea that this is really, you know, this
could really be happening. And like I said, that's that's
the Forrest Gump version of it. And I'm not saying

(09:48):
that's what was going on in Jerry's mind. But at
the same time, I don't understand. I don't think we
can necessarily pin Jerry Jones too, you know, and and say,
you know, everything that he's done, you know, is basically
is under fire because of that photo right there. I mean,

(10:08):
to me, he's kind of just in the in the
back of it, and you know, people are saying, well,
he's not doing anything about it. I mean that was
sixty five years ago, and the times have changed since then.
And I mean a fourteen, fifteen year old kid in
that situation, you know, those kids in the front, you know, talking,
you know in the photo, those kids in the front
that we're actually in the face of the African American

(10:30):
kids I mean those look like eighteen year old, eighteen,
nineteen year old, Uh, you know, high schoolers to me,
you know what I mean, So what's the fourteen fifteen
year old? What's he gonna? What's He's just probably curious
in the back like yo, like you know, I mean, look,
everybody's gonna have their opinion. That's mine. Uh, that's why

(10:50):
it's my show. Um, you can like it if you're
not like it. But at the end of the day,
I just you know, I don't think that it is
fair to him. Um, you know, because I do. I
do think that. You know, obviously people are gonna take
that out of context because of the time it was,
and um, you know, obviously because of the image. But

(11:11):
to say that, you know, you gotta, you gotta basically,
you know, everything that you've done, it doesn't count. Uh.
I don't necessarily agree with that. Now, if the other
stuff came out, that's different, but just be was I'm
talking specifically because of that picture. The next factor cap
we have Greg Jenny, says Russell Wilson, and his lack
of response to Mike Purcell is showing everything I don't

(11:34):
want in my leader. It shows that he knows his
teammates lack faith in him. He looks defeated. He looks
like he doesn't have any faith in himself. Look, I
love Russ Um. You know, I've met him a couple
of times, picked him off. Um, got a lot of

(11:56):
respect for his career, him, as him as a father,
as you know, as a man. Um. He doesn't defeated though. Um,
this is kind of a two part question. Because your
team is struggling, your your offense isn't playing that good. Um.
You know you can point the blame game, you say,

(12:16):
you know he's got the thirtie twenty ninth best offensive
line in the game. Um, getting paid a lot of money. Yeah,
your offenses are putting up a whole lot of points.
So yeah, people are gonna at the end of the day,
people are gonna find every last little bit of detail too,
until till you figure it out, until um, until you

(12:39):
honestly score more points. Um. And And I'm in no
place to give Russell Wilson advice. Sometimes I wish athletes
in bad situations just wouldn't make it worse with like
by tweeting just kind of continues to throw gasoline on
the fire. You know, and like if I if I

(13:00):
have when I go in slumps. Um, I don't go
in slumps often, but there have been times where I've
gone and slumps where I just I'm blacked out of
all social media, and honestly, like I barely on social media,
uh to begin with, just because there's just it's it's
a lot of negative stuff on social media, and if
you if you don't, if you're not careful, that stuff

(13:23):
can sometimes creep into places in your head that it's
hard to get out. So I'd rather just keep it
out rather than having to mentally, you know, just just
try to flush it out. Because there's a lot of
people on there that were just I can't wait to
see you downfall. They can't wait to see you do
something bad. They can't wait to see a miss a tackle,
they can't wait to see you lose a game. There's

(13:44):
just people out there that I like that. I don't
know why, but it is, that's just the world that
we live in. And so when you add stuff to
give them, like you give them Ammo, you give them
stuff to just keep pegging you with stuff. It's it's
it's gotta like take told And I feel like that
that told is being taken, you know, on rust in

(14:05):
a sense. And I feel like, you know, when he
gives his postgame interviews, like, yeah, he obviously the dude
wants to win. I haven't been able to watch a
whole lot of games, but I do watch a lot
of Russell Wilson postgame interviews, and you know, he he
does look, he does look like it's it's tough, and
I'm sure it is tough, but I mean people are
gonna say, well, he's getting too hundred fifty million dollars.

(14:26):
You damn skippy, get whatever the million dollars. So the rustle,
I hope you figure it out, because they're gonna keep
pegging it with Rocks until you do. You figure it out.
He does look defeated, and he looks like I wouldn't
say he doesn't have any faith in himself. I think
I definitely, you know, I feel like he has faith himself.
I feel like just that the team doesn't have the

(14:48):
faith in each other, and you know it kind of
that probably trickles down from you know, this is Look,
I've been on bad teams, you know, I've I've seen
I was I was, I was on the Browns we
this garbage, but we just we didn't connect on the field. Um,
there was a disconnect somewhere, and you know, I just
feel like that's kind of partly what's going on out

(15:09):
there in in in Denver. You know, I hope, I
hope Russ was able to drink some wins. Um. I
was rooting for the guy, you know, I did. I wish,
you know, he would stop doing some of shenanigans he does,
like doing high knees on the plane. Come on, Russ,
We'll be doing high knees on the plane on a
six hour flight to where are you going to Europe?

(15:30):
Don't do that, Russ, I ever saw you doing no
damn how knees on the plane. But sit your house
down and go to sleep. Trying to go to bad man.
We got four more hours you over here doing high
knees outside. Yo. I'm sorry, but for real, though, come on, dog,
I saw highlights of the Panthers Broncos game. This is

(15:52):
just like that. This is an AMMO I'm talking about.
You get a sack and the one of those Panthers
players defense then got the sack on red Us and
he and he does the rest in the middle of
the field. He does. You know what I'm saying. Does
that hell of the celebration. But come on, Russ, I'm

(16:14):
rooting for you, man, figuring ship out. Come on, you
got some good players over there. Man, the factor cap.
Turf fields need to go. They gotta go. Turf fields
gotta go. Football is not meant to be played on turf.
Hurt my goddamn knees. Do they care? Probably not, But

(16:38):
I'm gonna say it. Football needs to be played on grass.
Not even it's just a it's just a tradition. It's
just like it's like old school, Like get your dang
grass stains in your dang pants and your jersey. Get
the damn mud in your face. Like I'm tired of

(16:58):
the bees in my as my eyeballs. I'm tired of
the look. I got a damn I can't even pull
it up, got a damn turf burn on my knee.
Y'all can't see it, y'all can't see it right here,
that's from the turf hurts. First of all, everyone wanna
talk about years. Let's listen to the science. Let's listen

(17:20):
to the science. The science from what I have heard,
what the injury rate on grass fields is less likely
then the turf fields that alone, Like I mean, goodness, gracious,
and I used to think, honestly, to look to be

(17:40):
fair honestly when I when I first you're in high school,
you you know, you're playing on the In high school,
we had a we had a nice field, We had
a cool stadium. You know, I don't want to but
it did during the you know, late the last three games.
I mean, the middle of the field just mud, just
straight mud, which is fine. But then obviously, you know,

(18:00):
you get to the playoffs and now you're playing on
the turf field. So yeah, it was cool when you're young.
Your knees is nice. You know what I'm saying, you
ain't gotta deal with you know, even even in college,
you know, college, Yeah, it turf feel cool. It's not
cool anymore. It's not cool anymore. There's too many non
contact injuries happening on turf that it just needs to go.

(18:22):
And it's just a lot more fun to play football
on grass. It's just way more when it's raining, when
it's hot, it don't matter. Grand football is meant to
be played on grass, all right. Let's get an some
mafia questions another one of my favorite segments. We've got
a couple of questions. This one is from fee nom
phenomenon phenomenonal bills, phenomenonal Bills. I like that one, phenomenonal bills.

(18:47):
I think I pronounced that right. I help I pronounce
that right? Um. Question is how much of a home
field advantage do you think playing in the cold or
snow gives Buffalo? Um, I think it gives a huge
advantage because nobody wants to come here and play. I think,
regardless of if it's hot, uh, wet, cold, I don't

(19:11):
think anybody wants to come to Buffalo and play. I
sure as hell didn't When I played in Cleveland, I
didn't want to come to Buffalo and play, and we
played him. I think it was in Yeah, it was
in December. It was colder shipped to I mean I
remember flying over. I'm like, oh hell no, I see,
Oh my goodness. Nobody wants to come here and play.
But uh, especially when it's cold, um and the snow. Look,

(19:37):
nobody nobody likes the cold or the snow. Nobody does
and I don't. And I'm I'm willing to bet part
of my paycheck that more people would rather play in
the hot than cold weather. But the advantage is us

(19:59):
one because we had of the crowd too, because we
loki get used to the cold. I didn't. I don't
want to say get used to the cold because I
don't like that term, because I don't like being cold.
But you're cold enough to where you start to like, okay,
this is cool, Like you know, I can we we
can do this. But other teams coming in. As soon
as you step off that plane and that that cold

(20:20):
air hit your face, it just plays a whole different,
whole different mind trick on you. That ship just I
remember it. I remember like yesterday and it was windy too.
I stepped up the plane, that ship right in my face.
I said, oh lord, here we go. And I was
in Cleveland too, and they should we just get that
we get cold up there too. But it wasn't. I

(20:41):
didn't feel like that was that that lake cold. I
didn't feel that it was different. So I do think
it's I think it's an advantage snow. I think snow
is more like it's really who handles it that the best? Right?
I mean the snow game that we played in two
thousand and seventeen. I mean really you just kind of

(21:02):
saw uh Shady at the end take the game over,
just like he did when he was in uh Philadelphia
playing I think it was the Cowboys. It was like
he was the only player out there that knew how
to play, so, which is crazy. Um, yeah, I do
think it's advantage. That's a good question. Uh. Next question

(21:22):
from Bills for Life seventeen. How do you balance all
field distractions, fans, media, et cetera, and family with football.
That's a solid question. Um. My dad taught me about
a word when I was younger. The word is called compartmentalized,
and it's always stuck with me because you know, you

(21:46):
know when you have to be able to separate and
put all your at tension when that time is there,
so almost like being in the now, so you know
what's in and what's important. When I'm at work, I'm
at work, you know, my phone's away and lessen. You know,
my wife calls me and to needs something. Um, when
I'm at home and I'm with my family, I'm at

(22:08):
home with my family. You know. Obviously sometimes I'm playing
the video game whatever, but I'm at home, I'm not Uh,
you know, when when it's time to put work away.
You know, my work's put away when it's time to
you know, beat with my family, spend time my family.
I'm spend time with my family when it's me time.
It's me time. You know, there's no other outside distractions. Um.
And so I've always learned to That's that's why I

(22:31):
told you earlier. I I really try to stay off
social media just as much as I can, because there's
so much negative, negative stuff on there. Like, I mean,
we we beat the Lions, and you know, we beat
the Browns who are too good football teams, and you know,
people online want to say this is that the other?
About this is that the other? And it does to me.
I don't care I block anybody. I don't really give

(22:54):
a damn, but it to me, like it doesn't matter.
Like and at the end of the day, I understand
what I need to get done. I understand, you know,
when I play the game, I understand what I did right,
what I did wrong, and how I can move forward, uh,
and how I can move forward to get better. And
that's the same thing in life. You know, you learn

(23:16):
from your mistakes, you learn from um your rights, you
learn from your wrongs. That's the same thing in life,
so um, being able to compartmentalize those and and put
them in kind of their own little buckets. So you know,
when it's time to work, it's it's it's work time.
You know when when when you know I'm in front
of the media, asked them answering their questions, you know,

(23:37):
it's I'm focused on that. You know, it's it's it's
it's always a continuous it's you know, you always learn
um because it is kind of hard. You know, sometimes
you put so much into your craft, and you put
so much into you know, uh, it's what you do.
And there's always, like I said, there's always people trying
to tear you down. There's always people that's waiting for
you to to to lose. There's always people that's eating

(24:00):
for you to to so whatever, you know, just so
that they can they can start pegging you with with
whatever it is they want to And you know, that's cool.
That's the that's the life that I chose to be
in this position, and I love that, you know, that's cool.
I don't care. And then of the day it doesn't
matter to me. I don't really give a damn. I
played ten years in this league. Um, I'm I'm really

(24:23):
good for the rest of my life. I played this
game because I love this game of football, and I
love my teammates. That's why I play the game. I
could care less about anything else about who's been a
fan for how long or whatever and this that the
other I played a game because I love my teammates
and and and I want to take care of my family.
And that's really it. You know, I played this game,
like I said ten years like I you know, I'm

(24:46):
playing this game this point because I love the game
of football. Um, I don't have to play the game.
I want to play the game. And so when if
I don't have a bad game, and I understand how
to correct my decisions that I made in the game,
I understand how to how to move on to the
next phase. Um. Because the end of the day, you know,

(25:07):
sometimes you just kind of sit there and you look
back and you know, for for example, I got mossed
against DeAndre Hopkins, me Tradevious White, Michael had three All pros.
Getting mossed by DeAndre Hopkins and at that point right there,
I learned a lot about myself because um, because like
I think about it now, I'm sitting here talking about

(25:28):
a play that absolutely in the moment just just just
blew me the friger way. I'm like, ain't no way
he caught this. Even the couple of days after, just
I'm just just shitty, Like I never felt that shitty
in my life. And but then you just you know,
and I look back and we won eight games in

(25:50):
a row after that, literally eight games in a row,
and I had a hell of a season. And to think,
like something like that can happen in life and you
could feel so shitty about it and you can feel
so down about it, But then how six years later
I'm sitting here talking about it, laughing about it, like
I literally got freaking moss on top of the head

(26:13):
by one of the best ribacis in the game. Like
I mean, you're gonna move on. Just moves and freak on.
It doesn't matter what people say, it doesn't matter. Just
move on, learn from it, take it with a grain
of salt, and move on, because in twenty years, people
ain't gonna people are gonna talk about you know what,
like what what's gonna what's what's gonna happen? And something
gonna happen to you is your is your world gonna

(26:36):
go to a to a shamble because somebody brought up
something from twenty years ago. No, just move on, make
yourself better from it. Man. I'm glad, to be honest,
I'm glad that should happened to me because like it
made me and too, it changed my whole perspective on
a whole lot of things. And and I'm glad it
happened to me with two of my best friends and

(26:57):
teammates because it would have been shitty if it was
just myself. We always talked about that. I'm glad it
was all three of us, not just one of us,
because it was just one of us that would have sucked.
But it was all three of us, so we could
talk about it, we could joke about it. Yeah, ship
happens in the game, dude, stuff happens. We're playing the NFL.
It's stuff is gonna happen, you know. Just being able

(27:18):
to move on, that's the game. Being able to move
on to the next play, to the next game, not
worry about what people talking about. It doesn't matter, It
doesn't matter, nothing of it matters. That's my show today,
ladies and gentleman. I appreciate everybody tuning in. We had
it was awesome show. I think we had a great conversation.
You guys have any comments, questions, leave them in the

(27:40):
comment box. Um. We will be back next Tuesday. Back
to a normal week, Thank you, NFL. Back to a
normal week. Probably get flexed on some games, which is cool,
that's all right, But nonetheless, we have the Bills and
the Patriots at Foxboro eight fifteen Thursday night. Be sure

(28:02):
you're tuning in. It'll be a hell of a game.
Like I said, Bloody Knuckles, bluddy knows, we gotta come
come ready. We gotta play well to win. It's not
gonna be easy. Until then, we will see you guys again.
Go Beabs, go bees Man. Proud of y'all. Coach Bray,
Mike Doc, Coach Smith. You know I'm missing some guys

(28:23):
