Speaker 1 (00:02):
What's up, guys. Welcome to the fifteenth episode of the
Jordan Port Podcast. I'm here back in Florida. It's been
a crazy, crazy weekend and it's only about to get
crazier in the Arizona tomorrow. But talk about my time
in Vegas. It was an amazing time at the Pro Bowl.
It's just super blessed to be able to be there.
And she had it at the at the Wall Door Hotel. Um.
You know, we had my family, you know, we wanted
(00:24):
to stay there a couple of days, and we started
to go to the wind to check it out for
a couple of days and get led a little bit.
Didn't win a whole lot of money. Damn, man, I
had I was up to, I was up, and then
you know, I got greedy and you know, came back
even And that's just what it was. So other than that,
man had a great time obviously the long drive chant
(00:45):
and uh talk about how about a pressure shot. I
feel like, uh, I feel like everything I was feeling
ever since I started golfing, my whole every every round
that I played, every time I've gone out there and
practice had lit up to like this moment that I
need to hit the golf ball more than three hundred
and three what was it, three sixteen yards to beat him.
(01:07):
It was crazy because I was the last one to go,
and I don't know how that worked out. Talk about
the script, We'll talk about that a little later. But
I was the last one to go. UM. T J.
Hockinson was second last um and the leader was C. J. Mosley.
He was like third. I think he hit his like
three or six or something like that, and he was
(01:29):
and that was the lead for until T. J. Hockinson
came up. He was mean, He was his piss missiles
down the down the middle of the fairway and his
first was three sixteen And I mean I get up
and like you get five balls to you know, obviously
I'll drive him and talk about pressure, boy. I mean
(01:50):
I felt good on the on the on the driving
rage like I did, like it was the first, like
I hadn't I've been playing football. The first time I
really got out to golf in a long time. I
don't even remember the last time I swung drive. But
it almost seemed like I started to come back just naturally,
and I felt good on the range and all of
a sudden, like we're down. I have to hit this
ball further three here in sixteen yards and I have
(02:13):
five tried to do this. So my first ball, I
just absolutely piss on it, like I just felt good,
swung through it went to I'm like, okay, I'll probably
can get a little more the next three. I just
felt like I had to, you know, get a little
more to you know, to get into it. So I
just I overswung and slice all three of them, boom
all the way out to the right. I'm all right, Jay,
(02:34):
just calm down and just let the club work, let
your body works. I'm you know, I got one ball left.
I got one ball left to hit the hitting past
three sixteen. I mean, what a moment, dude. It was dope.
It was super dope. I step up, and I mean,
like I said, I felt like my whole golfing career
and led up to this moment right here, this swing
(02:54):
and with this swing, my my golfing career is either
gonna go like this or it's go go like that,
you know. And I I just trusted my swing song
through it, man, and I knew it. I knew it was.
It felt good. It was in the air for a while.
I knew it was going to be close, and so
you know, TV obviously made a little bit more dramatic.
(03:15):
I think I heard him say that he got it
before he got the earpiece. So I was just waiting
for for Dana Lassi to make the call. And whence
he made the call. Man, it was just hype. It
was cool. It's a cool experience, like I said, to
be you know, around all those guys you know you
see watching on TV, you know, like c. J. Moseley,
let mean, Ego down the list, you know, Marlo Humphreys
and Matt Matthew Tucker, like guys that you just you know,
(03:37):
seeing the games, making plays, and it's really cool to
be a part of a really cool experience. You know.
Let me get to the Pro Bowl games on Sunday,
and I mean, I mean first it was that was
a long day. Holy it was. That was a long
day and we ended up winning. It was tough. I
felt like we got we got hold. But it's good
(03:58):
and we had fun. Man, it was. It was such
a good time. Like I said, see all those guys
and be on the field with some of those guys
making Fitzpatrick, you know, Max Crosby, you know uh road
Coin Smith, you know, uh Derwin James Man and trying
to see Gardner from from the jet. Dude, I mean
you go down the list just I'm looking around, I'm like, damn, like,
am I really really out here right now? Like? Am
(04:21):
I really? You know it? It was crazy, it was surreal.
Dropped the pick, man, I mean, I should I knew
I shouldn't took my glasses off. I didn't think. I thought.
I didn't think a pick was gonna come like that easy, like,
and I couldn't see like the backdrop behind it was
it was all black raiders, like just the raider seats.
It was all black. And the ball was just I
(04:41):
mean I kissed that ball nine out of ten times, right,
And I tried to I tried to come here with it.
Don't ever do that. I should win right here with it,
trying to get out. Oh made it made a couple
of blazes on the ball though. It was fun and
like I said, it was fun being a part of
UM just a huge, huge honor. But now, like I said,
turn around back here in Florida. Now, now I'm going
(05:01):
to Arizona tomorrow. I got a lot of media stuff
to do out there. It's gonna be fun, I said,
another opportunity and you know, try to get try to
get out there. I'm trying to get myself out there more,
you know, try to just continue to know, just show
face and be out there. And you know, like I said,
it's always cool me people like Sually you see on
TV se grinding all the time. And it was cool
being the same team as you know, cheating, cheating out
(05:22):
there making plays on defense. He hate blitz Max Crowley
or he blitz Kirk Cousins and batted the ball down
and that was hype. That was that was super dope.
I couldn't imagine what Kirk was taking and he was
dropping back seeing Tyree come at him. But that was dope.
I wanted to give a shout out to my guy,
to Mark Hamlin, the Alan Page Community Award winner. Man,
(05:45):
so proud of you, d him. Shout out to you, brother.
You deserve it. You deserve it always coming to you. Man.
You worked extremely hard and you're such a great dude,
such great, so good in the community and I love
you for real, man. You you just I'm so proud you.
I couldn't imagine wanting to give you a shout on
my podcast. You know Ko gives love to d him,
give him some love, shout out to you, brother. I
just getting into my new segment I'm excited to bring
(06:07):
to you guys called Pick six. We're gonna come up
with six or some of the hottest topics around the league.
Maybe some stuff that's going around the country, some stuff
that's going around in my life. My favorite food, so
my favorite snacks. We're gonna pick six of them. And
right now, obviously the biggest one is the super Bowl
come up this weekend in Arizona, big big game, obviously
a big games super Bowl. The hell? I mean, so,
(06:30):
did you guys see uh as coach Sianni is this
a must win game? And him just kind of yes, Yes,
it is must win game. It's a super Bowl. Christian
McCaffrey says he hopes nobody wins. I agree. I hope
nobody wins, but that's probably not even be like that.
Somebody's gotta win. And if I had to pick somebody
to win, I gotta stay in the a f C.
And no people are gonna like this, but I don't
(06:50):
really care. I got to stay in the f C
for the Chiefs. Man, the Chiefs are just I mean,
I think they're gonna win, and think it's gonna be
a really good game, high scoring game, and then he's
gonna like one type of game, you know, and I
think I think the Chiefs pull it off. Man. I
think I'm not saying that the Eagles can't pull it
off at off for sure can with the what happens
(07:11):
that they have an offensive and that really with that
really good defense probably went by three. You know, whoever
has the ball last type you know, last last possession
in type field goal exactly what it's gonna come down to.
So I got that, I got. I got the Chiefs
in the last second field goal. The topic number two,
Actually we're gonta pick number two. Two picks. Two picks
(07:33):
is pretty good. You get two picks in the game.
That's solid, that's solid. Well, the hip drop tackle. The
NFL is now going into look or going to look
into the hip drop tackle, and I don't like it.
I don't like it. I mean, it's just, you know,
it just seems like the NFL's gone from like like
(07:56):
like favoring the offense and to now just like you
you know, you guys can do whatever you want, but
now we have penalize for a hip hip hip drop tackle.
I mean the ref from the ref in the passer
to to now the hip drop too, you know, balls
over the middle, you know, I mean, you might as
(08:18):
well turn this game in the seven or seven were
throwing up pick number three, three picks in the season.
That's pretty solid. That's that's pretty solid. Lebron James passes
scream adul Jabbar all time scoring lists drops. Congratulations a Ron,
It's it's big time. That is uh was Watchington last night?
I mean it's I mean, you're obviously growing up in
(08:41):
the same eras Lebron. You hear the argument all the time.
Is he the best basketball player of all time? Is
the Kobe m J? It's really just, in my opinion,
it's hard to really just pick one of the best
basketball players of all time. He's one of the best
basketball players of all time, the same as Kobe, one
of the best I spelled the same as MJ. One
(09:01):
of these us, I can't. You know, it's like saying
the top top five, top five quarterbacks, and you know,
the best quarterback in the league. You know, you can
make an argument for you know, one two or three
of them being the best quarterback in the league. If not,
you know, more the the best wide receiver in the league.
You know, couldn't you make an argument for one to
three of them being the best you know, wide receiving
(09:24):
the league and then all time obviously too. So you know,
there's there's arguments for both sides, you know. I I
do think he is one of the best basketball players
to ever walk the face of the planet, and I'm
really happy for him and his family. Pick number four,
Kyrie Irvan traded to Dallas from Brooklyn uh C. He
felt disrespected and he's excited for a new opportunity in Dallas,
(09:44):
and I I'm excited for Kybrie. Man. I'm a big
Kyrie fan, Kyrie fan, A lot of you, a lot
of you know me. You know, you know, Kyrie is
a guy who's misunderstood. I feel like by a lot
of people in the media likes to make it out
um making amount to be somebody that he's not. And
that's what the media does. And you know, as an athlete,
(10:05):
sometimes you gotta you know, for instance, a couple of
weeks ago and I come on here and I talked
about Tom Brady retiring and speaking about Tom Brady, Congratulations
on retirement. Um, I'm glad I don't have to play
you anymore. But but like I said, like a couple
of weeks ago, you know, the media want to turn
twisting and you know, turn around and say, oh, I'm
on here saying Tom Brady, go be with the kids.
(10:26):
You know, you need to both go be with the kids.
You're a bad bad father. This is not the other
like you know whatever, Like you know, it's understood. Um,
you know how the media does like the twists and
turn things, and that's just that's the profession that we're in.
And I I admire his ability to to one understand
(10:47):
that and to just keep moving forward and to keep
you know, his head kind of not kind of just
really just focus on what is important, his goals and
who he is as a person and and not run
away from that. So I respect at and I really
love that about him. You know, like I said, he's
excited for a new opportunity, um, just to be to
be wanted, to be somewhere he's wanted, you know, he said,
(11:10):
I watched his entire his entire interview, and he got
he got traded to Dallas, and I said, I just
think he's a he's a misunderstood human being. I'm praying
for him and hoping for the best for him. He's
a guy that's gonna bring so much to your basketball team.
I understand why you wouldn't want him on your team
being happy, and I think he could bring you know,
he could get the Dallas Suit championships. So you know,
(11:32):
it's gonna be fun to watch his his journey now
in Dallas. And I'm excited to continue watching play pick
number five. So like I got my fit picks stolen
from me. So this, uh, this is an interesting topic
here in the NFL scripts Twitter thread. Interesting Arian Foster
went on, I'm sure everybody saw it, and went on
and said that even the players are part of the
(11:54):
scripts in the so called game we play football. I
don't want to say anything that crosses boundaries or or
you know, get to anybody upset, but in the sense,
you know, I don't think he's right, but I don't
think he's wrong. At the same time, the player is
definitely me. Okay, I'm not part of no script. If
I would have read the script before this damn season,
(12:15):
I'd have told you you kissed my ass. I ain't playing.
Got me hyper extent in my elbow, goddamn breaking a
couple of ribs to what places play football? All right?
You got me up. So no, definitely ain't part of
the script because I'm sure there's a couple of damn
players out there. But they are funny to read. Those
(12:37):
the threads are funny to read. They're funnier. Ship the
sixth pick of the day. I want to go into
a top five candy of all time. So you guys
give me your top five candy. I'm gonna give you
my top five candy. You tell me if you think
I'm crazy, or you tell me if you agree with me. Um,
(12:57):
in no order, I'm going to go the Reese's Peanut
butter Cup. I'm going to go the fast Break. You
don't know about the fast break, you better find out.
I'm gonna go. I'm a I'm a I'm a big
sour guy. I love warheads. Those like just that initial
you put in your mouth, it's the I love that.
(13:19):
Um sweetearts, I love Sweetearts and Snickers. You don't throw
stickers on it when you hung your grab of sneakers.
So you guys, give me your top five. I like that,
and then I wanted to, Uh, next week, we're gonna
give you, uh, let's go into the top five. We're
gonna do that last pick. It's gonna be top five movies.
And what you guys give me your top five movies.
I'll give you my top five movies. And the end
of next week's episode. And in the meantime, I wanted
(13:41):
to talk to you guys about I saw Avatar last night, man,
and I saw Wakanda over the weekend. I don't want
to give any spoilers. If you haven't seen the movie,
go see it. I wanted to speaking of top five movies,
I wanted to also if you have seen the movie
and want you to tell me you know which movie
you thought was was better, which if you see both
of them, because I think there are two of the
(14:04):
greatest movies I've ever seen one. Um, Avatar as long
as hell, but it was it was just I felt
like I was in a whole different world. Um. Same
with Wakonda. I love the idea of a new world
or just like you know, just you know, just at
the thought of it. And and both of those movies
(14:24):
had you know, and I'm trying not to give too
much away, but both those movies had, um, you know,
we've seen Wakonda and we've seen Habita. There's you know,
a new world, you know, a new almost they call
it a powerhouse. So that was I think that was
not it. I wouldn't get too much away, but um,
if I had to pick one of those movies, I
didn't want with Conda to end. What Kinda was such
a cool movie. I didn't want it to ever end.
(14:47):
Um And I'm a huge kind of fan. If I'm
want to talk about it next week. So you haven't
seen either all of them, go see it because we're
gonna talk about them next week. Cause I love both
those movies. I want to get into him a little
bit because there's a little bit of you know, I
think there's a little bit of propaganda and them. But
you know what, will you will talk about that a
little blitter, talk about a little bit. I just some
things I want to I want to touch, but I
(15:08):
gotta tread. I gotta tread lightly, you tread lightly. In
the meantime, I appreciate you guys for tuning in on
the fifteenth episode of The Joy Part podcast. I'm heading
to Vegas, not heading to Vegas, Arizona. I just got
back from Vegas. I saw crazy, tired, jet lag has
been crazy two weeks. But I'll see you guys next
week with some stories from a ZUM. Hopefully we got
(15:30):

you can put up my golf, my golf swing this podcast.
That'd be super dope. UM. If you guys haven't seen it,
go check it out. Had two and a half million

People just want to see my golf swing go three
d and twenty yards. You're going to golf with me?
How light me. I'll be down here in Softomore until
(15:52):
next time I see you guys. Appreciate it.
