Scientists have officially settled one of the Internet’s most polarizing debates: over or under when it comes to toilet paper? According to new research, the under method wins—yes, really. The Jubal Show unpacks the "science" behind the claim, including contamination risks, cat sabotage, and the alleged need for two hands when pulling from the “over” position.

The team dives into public restroom logistics, personal bathroom aesthetics (hello, triangle folds!), and the underrated art of building a spa-like experience at home. Plus, why 70% of people might be wrong—and how wipes, cats, and chaos factor into it all.

This episode is proof that even the silliest arguments deserve serious airtime.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Prepare for your mind to be blown and boom goes
to dynamite. That's the Jewil Show because scientists have finally
solved one of life's biggest questions, and it's one of
the things that has been the source of heated Internet
debates for years. Okay, what is it?

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:17):
What is it that you'd like to know? Toilet paper
rolls were invented more than one hundred and fifty years ago.
It's not that long ago. Actually even think about it anyway,
And as long as they've been around, the question of
the right way to put it on the holder has
been the source of disagreements all over the world. There's
no disagreement there.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Yeah, it's just over.

Speaker 1 (00:38):
Yeah, yeah, always. Well, there's the over position where the
next square the toilet paper is facing the user, and
then there's the underposition, where the next square is facing
the wall. And people have debated for years, especially on
the Internet, heated debates about what the best way to
put toilet paper on the role is. Okay, and scientists

(00:58):
finally sat down and crunch the numbers and figured out
what the correct answer is to this question.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
How do you make that list of the pros and
cons of each like, what are you studying?

Speaker 1 (01:09):
I don't get it. Well, scientists finally settled the debate
and have declared that the under method is actually the
safer and more effective method for the toilet paper roll.
When they won't touch the ground.

Speaker 2 (01:23):
I thought under was called over, but now I'm really
say I've had had him backwards. But under it doesn't
touch the ground. You just got to keep it.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Up, I know. But a lot of the times, especially
in public restrooms, if you have the under situation going on,
it touches the ground. Yeah, but then you got a
grip and then you touch it as many times as
if it was over.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
But then it doesn't get stuck if the if you
have it the over, it gets stuck in the thing
and then you can't actually pull it.

Speaker 1 (01:44):
Scientists are trolling. This is the problem. It starts a debate. Well,
scientists say the under method is actually safer and more effective.
And here's why. They say that the over orientation requires
a second hand to touch the role. Yeah, which means
there's no risk of contamination before we wipe because and
more potential risk of infection. There is more handling of

(02:06):
the toilet toilet paper roll from the over position and
the under position there is less likely to be a
whole role contamination. So if you're doing the over the
over method, you got a whole role contamination going on.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
When do you ever need two hands to get your
toilet paper because.

Speaker 2 (02:25):
It gets stuck in the thing?

Speaker 3 (02:26):
Like?

Speaker 2 (02:27):
So, yeah, I do use like the second hand to
like pick up the other one, that one that's like
sitting on top of it at a public restroom to
pull it out.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Okay, well let's talk about it your house. When your
house and you have the weird under instead of the
over like normal people, then you actually need two hands
to get it.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
Well, when it's over, I have a whole other issue
because then my cat messes with it, so then the
whole thing ends up touching the ground. Anyways, that's only
for cat ladies.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
That doesn't county. The thing is, I've never had to
use two hands ever with any toilet paper, So I
don't understand this argument at all. First of all. Second
of all, you don't go for the toilet paper first,
you go for the wipes. That's if around. I don't
think they took that an account with im stable.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
That's a very scientific but I'm not going to have
a stack of wipes right next to the toilet paper.
But that's because you're a dude. So the only time
you use toilet paper, the wipes will definitely come in handy.
For women, you don't need the wipes every time.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Oh, that's right, you use to.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
We'll also say that seventy percent of people prefer the
over position. Yeah, but the under position is actually the
correct scientific way to do it, so they're wrong.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
Which you know, like when you have it on the
overt and you are like putting on a fresh roll,
you can fold it all nice or make like a
little rose, and then when you go into your bathroom
it's all nice and clean, it's all cute. If you
have it under, you can't have a cute little design
on the top of or the toilet paper roll.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
We know, dang, weell, you're not sitting there making a
design for the toilet paper.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
You don't know, dang well, because I sure.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
Am I shure, I'm sure.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
I like my environment to be a very specific way.
Has the time it should be doing that at home
without guests coming over. It takes two seconds to fold it.
All you're doing is folding into a little trying I
don't do anything fancy.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
You do that every time? You know, when I.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Put on a new roll, it's like, this feels nice.
You know you fold it. You got new fluffy towels,
you got everything all set, so now you got your
perfect little role.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
It is nice when you go into a bathroom and
they have it folded like that.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
Yes, I never heard to my own though.

Speaker 3 (04:14):
It makes you feel a certain kind of way. Don't
you want to feel good when you go into your
own bathroom.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
I don't have time. I got to hurry up, do
you whatever? I have to do anything go. I got
things to do.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
People to see, Like what stare at your window?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
I mean, hey, that's like things to see.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
Put a costume on your cat?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Things to do? That happened.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
She sent us a picture in the group chat last night.
None of the over responded. I was busy, So.

Speaker 1 (04:41):
There you go. Scientists say that if you've been doing
the overtechnique for your toilet paper, which people have debated
about for years, you're actually doing it wrong. You should
be doing the under method because it's less dirty. But
also you're going to the bathroom. So I just assume
everything is filchy, no matter what, no matter how you
do it. There's really no plain way to do it.
