Speaker 1 (00:00):
First Date is follow up powered by the Advocates Injury
Attorneys online at advocuslaw dot com.
Speaker 2 (00:07):
Iris is on the phone today for a first day
follow up, and she's getting ghosted by a guy named Toby.
So in a few minutes we'll call him and see
if it tell us why he's ghosting her and maybe
get her a second date. But first, Iris, how long
has it been since you heard from Toby.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
It's been about two weeks.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Oh weeks, Okay, that's a decent amount of time. Was
the last time you talked to him? On the date?
Speaker 1 (00:29):
I texted him? No, the last time I texted him,
and then he kind of like liked my text. He
just thumbed up and then that was it. Oh how
annoying he did not respond.
Speaker 3 (00:42):
Also, I got to praise you for not doing any
anxiety text and following that up with something, because there's
a good chance that may have happened.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
Thank you. No, I mean I've been restraining myself. I'm
just like, okay, just play it cool. Like I'm just
trying to play it cool. I'm trying to like we
go far back, so we're just yeah, I know I've
known to her for a while.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
Oh, Okay, so you've known each other. How long have
you guys known each other?
Speaker 1 (01:08):
We were actually college sweethearts our freshman year, so yeah,
so you know a good amount of time, like fifteen
of years. And look, it was quintessential college like he
made out with a girl and I broke up with him.
When that happened, you know, it was kind of rite
a passage of like college stuff. I didn't really take
(01:30):
it that personal. I had a boyfriend like literally two
days later.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
So it was okay, So that was back in the day.
And then you guys reconnected.
Speaker 1 (01:39):
Well, we we actually like bumped into each other at Target,
so random. Oh yeah, it was really random. I mean
he looked the same and he just seemed like more manly.
It was. Yeah, it was kind of like instinct connections.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
So then, how did you guys decide to hang out
outside of Target or did you do it like in
that moment?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Well, it was kind of like just in this moment,
he's like, hey, can I, you know, get your number?
Like he wasn't super he wasn't cheesy about it, but
he wasn't like being like, yeah, of course you want
to give you your number. And so then we just
set up a time and went to the candle making workshop.
It was fun. It was fun and we were just
(02:21):
like having a really good time. We were like laughing
at us. We made he makes sense and the sense
we're all mixed up and kind of felt like all
the bird popcorn is what we called it. But we
were just like laughing really hard and people were like
staring at us. It was really it was. It was
a really fun day.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
So what happened.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
We looked up after? Uh, okay, it was. It was
great and it was just like nostalgic, but also like
felt fresh and new, like there was some like new
chemistry there with him and I. It was just like
our love story sequel, like it was. It was really sweet.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
Well why do you think he's not calling you back?
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Well, so the girl that he made out with I
found her on Instagram. This is a long time ago,
and I sent it to him and I was like,
oh my god, it was that girl that you made
out with in college. Remember. Yeah, he didn't really stick anything.
He just kind of like liked it, and I was
I thought it was he can have crush and fun.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
Yeah, that's that's kind of awkward, but also kind of silly,
like why would he? I mean, if you're ghosting somebody
after that, that's I don't know. Maybe you just didn't
want to remember that time.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
Yeah, I guess, I don't know. Like I'm a little
sad about it, like it was maybe it was kind
of awkward for me to do that, now that you're
saying that, maybe was.
Speaker 3 (03:48):
Yeah, but you guys hooked up after you hook up
with somebody that you know they should do more than
like a text, That's what I think.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
I mean, Like, I don't know, especially because there's history,
there's not he's nothing random guy I just met.
Speaker 2 (03:59):
Is that the last you heard from him was after that?
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Was basically it? Yeah, that was two weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Okay, well we'll see if we can figure it out
for you. We'll play a song come back, and then
call him and see if he'll tell us why he's
ghosting you, and then see if we can get you
a second date.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
Okay, I appreciate it, Thank you so much.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
All right, we'll get your first day follow up next.
If you're just joining us for today's first day follow up.
Iris is on the phone and she's getting ghosted by
a guy named Toby so in a second, we're gonna
call him and see if he'll tell us why he's
ghosting her and maybe get her a second date. But first, Iris,
why don't you break down your date again for us
real quick?
Speaker 1 (04:36):
Sure, we ran into each other at Target. We're old
college freshman sweethearts and sparks flu. We went and had
a date. We made some candles, had it blast, and
then hooked up that night. And then I sent him
a text like a day later, basically reminded him of
(04:58):
the past and that I haven't heard from him in
two weeks.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
All right, are you ready for us to call him?
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah? I'm ready.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Ok, here we go. Hello, Hi, Mass speak to Toby please.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Is this hey Toby? How are you? This is a
radio show. It's called The Jubil Show.
Speaker 3 (05:28):

Speaker 1 (05:28):

Speaker 2 (05:29):
Hi, I'm Victoria and my name's Jeuble. What's up? What's
up much? Did you ever listened to the show before?
Speaker 4 (05:38):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, yeah, I'm every once in a while.
Speaker 4 (05:43):
I work from home, but you know when I'm not okay,
Oh yeah, I've got you guys on in the car.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
Sure cool, Thank you very much. Yeah, Toby, then you've
probably heard the first day follow up before, and that's
a segment where if you go on a date with
somebody and you were phosting them, they can have us
get you on the phone and ask why you're ghosting
and we got an email about you from somebody.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
U uh huh okay, uh yeah, this is a little awkward.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Do you know whould email us? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (06:17):
I'm assuming this is about Iris, right?
Speaker 2 (06:19):
Yeah? Iris, you guys used to be college sweethearts and
then ended up running into each other again and went
on a date and now you're ghosting or she doesn't know?
Why would you mind telling you?
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Yeah, it's please do not judge me like this is
going to sound a little more loaded than it is.
But I'm I'm kind of I'm I'm not kind of.
I am I'm engaged. I mean, it's complicated, but uh yeah,
(06:53):
I know it's it's it's like we paid for the
invitations and everything.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
So what.
Speaker 3 (07:02):
Toby, Hey, Toby that she's on the phone, do you
have anything?
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Yeah? What?
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (07:10):
Uh got?
Speaker 1 (07:11):
Uh hi? Wow?
Speaker 4 (07:16):
No? I please, just sorry, I'm not good with the confrontation.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
Uh oh, so.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
You're gonna burn me again?
Speaker 4 (07:27):
I'm sorry, Okay, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I didn't.
I didn't know, Okay, I'm sorry. Just please, I didn't
know what to do. Okay, you like you can't really
you got me really messed up over here, and I'm.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
I should go in there.
Speaker 4 (07:52):
I couldn't stop thinking about like you and your laugh
and and the way that you you smell, like like
toasting vanilla, you know, after doing the candles and your
lips and you oh god, we are together, and I'm sorry.
(08:13):
I'm just I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Some you do often you cheat on your fiance often.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
No, no, no, no, I just I think I want
to I think I have to call off my wedding.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Do you think that you're honest of yourself, Toby? Do
you think that you actually wanted to call off your
wedding and needed an excuse? Or is it really because
you have feelings for Iris?
Speaker 4 (08:33):
I know what I felt with Iris, and I feel
like you felt it too. I know you felt it too.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yeah, but like you can't see those things after finding
out that you're engaged, Toby, Like really.
Speaker 4 (08:46):
I just I just feel like we just need to
spend a little more time together so that I can
like see like if me doing this is the right
idea or not you know, No, you're engaged. What?
Speaker 1 (08:59):
No, you're this is ridiculous.
Speaker 2 (09:01):
No, I didn't you say iris when we were talking
to you earlier that when you dated him in college
he cheated on you too.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Yeah, you're doing it again. Like again, we're here. We're
basically the same spot that we left off on. That
was so much.
Speaker 5 (09:15):
That was totally different.
Speaker 4 (09:16):
That was like fifteen years ago.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
Is i'mferent person now, you're a different person that that
was that I like made out with some other ticket
was that was nothing.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
This is like very different. We should go off air
and we should just talk to this that we should
meet up, we should school out. We just go out
again and see you know if I feel like the
sparks are there and I've just been like these I
haven't responded because I'm I can't stop thinking about you,
you know, and and it's you're engaged.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
You're engaged, and I don't want you to not be
engaged because of me, because of a target and are
stupid date with candles. No, No, this is ridiculous. Just
go on with your life and I'll see you never.

it's like you. I feel like you're You're the woman
I always should have been with.
Speaker 1 (10:18):

I know I feel horrible. I think I think I'm
in love with you. Oh wow, you need to have
to share this.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
This is not okay. I know it's I know it's
not okay.
Speaker 4 (10:37):
That's why we need to meet up, you know, and
and we can just if you need a little time
to think this over. I totally get it, but I
I want to see you.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
