James thought his first date with Missy went well—even after a rocky start at a craft beer tasting she couldn’t drink from. He improvised with ice cream and a walk… but didn’t mention that walk would be through a literal junkyard. Now she’s ghosting him, and he doesn’t know why.

Turns out, Missy was genuinely scared for her life, thanks to binge-watching too much true crime. Was it a quirky childhood memory for James… or a red flag in rusted metal?

In this unforgettable First Date Follow Up, we find out if Missy is willing to give James another shot—or if she’ll stay far away from industrial zones forever. There's a twist ending too: he made her jewelry from scrap metal. Is that creepy or romantic? You decide.

💬 Text us at 41061 if you’ve ever had a date that wandered into horror movie territory.
🗑️ Featuring: DIY junkyard necklaces, accidental red flags, and a surprisingly sweet ending.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
James is on the phone today for our first Date
follow up and he's getting ghosted by Missy. So in
a few minutes we'll call her and see if she'll
tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him
a second date. But first, James, how long has it
been since you heard from Missy?

Speaker 3 (00:20):
Man, it's been like a little bit of time.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
I've probably say it's like a week, week and a half. Okay,
definitely feels like it's a little it feels like it's
a little too long to reach out. So I'm trying
to figure out what the right move is. But I
just can't figure out why it happened.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
H Did you try it all after your date?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I mean, like I.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Tried to reach out a bit, but it didn't seem
like I after I like I texted her after the
date to be like, hey, it was a great time.
Really appreciate your rolling with the punches and everything, but
I just haven't heard anything.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Mmm. Okay, well why don't you tell us about the date?

Speaker 3 (00:58):
Yeah? So, I mean like I went strong and wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
I was like, really excited about this little craft beer
tasting that I wanted to check out, which would have
been super clutch if she drank Oh oh no, yeah,
I like straight out of the gate, Marty batting at
like a zero.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
I felt terrible.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
She was cool about it, but I could tell it
wasn't like her thing because it was pretty much just
speer and like hyans, And I panicked and we pivoted
and ended up walking to this ice cream shop that
was pretty close by down the block, and then we
you know, went on a walking talk.

Speaker 2 (01:40):
Okay, that's great.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
I thought it was cute, and she seemed like, you know,
she was pretty on board with it. We were talking
about our childhoods, all the weird hobbies and stuff you
have as kids. I had texted her after say it
was a good time, and you know, nothing went on
after that.

Speaker 6 (01:55):
Did you feel like she had a good time? Like,
were you feeling like it was reciprocated while you were
on you're walking?

Speaker 4 (02:00):
Yeah, I mean the energy felt like light. We were
cracking jokes with each other, She's smiling, you know, it
wasn't like that the sun was still out, so it
didn't feel like it was creepy or anything. I don't know,
it just felt it felt like I started so strong
and so wrong that it was so hard to but

(02:21):
she was like such a good sport that I was like,
you know, but I assume she wanted to try again.

Speaker 6 (02:26):
I mean yeah, because she could have excused herself right
after the tasting and been like, you know, we don't
have anything in common. I'm just gonna go ahead and bounce,
but she gave you a chance.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
Well why do you think she's ghosting you?

Speaker 3 (02:38):
I'm like, I really feel like it's the beer thing.
I really messed up straight out the gate, or or
like maybe we can't have enough of common.

Speaker 7 (02:46):
I just keep thinking about it, and it just like,
you know, we had I stream.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Went for a walk, we talked.

Speaker 7 (02:50):
When it was over, she she got this like phone
call to leave, but it didn't feel real.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
I guess, oh, like she had a like.

Speaker 6 (03:01):
Yeah, so James, this sounds like you're totally getting ghosted.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
What are you trying to?

Speaker 8 (03:05):
Like?

Speaker 6 (03:06):
And maybe it is because of the drink thing? Are
you hoping to recover? Like what's the plan here?

Speaker 3 (03:11):
The thing I just can't.

Speaker 7 (03:12):
Ran my head around is like we had such a
good time and like when we were joking around like
she did like like a full body laugh.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
It wasn't like a oh, I'm just huming you because
you made a stupid Poe laugh. It was like a
you know, like an ugly laugh. It was really endearing.
It was definitely like a rocky start. It seemed like
we had fun, Like we were really vibing and laughing together.
And then like looked at your phone and then ye.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Maybe maybe the person that called was like an X
or something.

Speaker 7 (03:41):
Oh sure, yeah, she got like really terrible news and
like it's just a date, so she doesn't owe me
an explanation.

Speaker 3 (03:48):
If some serious thing went down. But like I guess
I kind of want one, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Okay, well, we'll see if we can figure it out
for you to play a song, come back and then
call her and see if she's house why she's ghosting you.
Maybe each a second date.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Sweet, Thank you guys so much.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
All right, we'll get your first day follow up next.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
First date follow up powered by the Advocates Injury Attorneys
online at Advocateslaw dot com.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
If you're just joining us for today's first day follow up.
James is on the phone and he's getting ghosted by Missy.
So we're about to call her and see if she'll
tell us why she's ghosting him and maybe get him
a second date. But first, James, why don't you recap
your date for us real quick?

Speaker 3 (04:25):
For sure?

Speaker 7 (04:26):
I went to take her to like a microbrewery tasting.
She doesn't drink. We roll with the punches, go get
some ice cream, go on a walk, have some really
good talks, really good laughs. I think it's like going
somewhere and then she like checks your phone. It's really polite,
but dips and it's been like a week in change.

Speaker 2 (04:46):
Okay, are you ready for us to call her?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Yeah? Man, it's it's the it's the not knowing the stores.

Speaker 2 (04:52):
All right, Please, here we go. Hello, Hi, Ma, speak
to Missy please.

Speaker 5 (05:10):
Yeah, this is Missy.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Hey, Missy, how are you? This is the Jewbill Show.
It's a radio show. Hi, Missy. I'mina. Hi, I'm Victoria
and my name's Jubal. What's up?

Speaker 5 (05:18):
Oh?

Speaker 8 (05:19):
Hi? Hi?

Speaker 9 (05:20):
What's going on?

Speaker 2 (05:22):
Not much? Have you ever listened to the show before?

Speaker 10 (05:24):
Oh?

Speaker 9 (05:24):
Yeah I have.

Speaker 5 (05:26):
Oh why why are.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
You calling well, Missy? Because we do a segment called
the First Day follow Up. That's where if you ghosts somebody,
they can email us to call you and get you
on the phone and ask why you're ghosting them.

Speaker 5 (05:40):
Oh my god, is this about James?

Speaker 8 (05:43):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (05:43):
Oh, okay, yeah, it is about James. So you are
ghosting James?

Speaker 9 (05:47):
Yeah, okay, do you mind telling us why?

Speaker 8 (05:51):
Yeah, it's it sounds that like I'm not a ghoster. Okay,
But he was sweet and how we did have a
good time, like he he tried. I mean, the beginning
of the day was kind of odd, like I don't know,
I don't know why he took me to drink, but whatever.

Speaker 5 (06:05):
We went past that. We took a walk.

Speaker 8 (06:09):
But the thing is, he he took me on a
walk through a junk yard. But it was just a
bunch of broken, rusty parts, broken down cars, loose gravel
like it was.

Speaker 5 (06:19):
It wasn't. It wasn't what I was looking for exactly.

Speaker 8 (06:22):
But the thing is, I watched so much true crime,
and I've heard that story a thousand times.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Girls get lured into sketchy places by the nice guy.

Speaker 8 (06:32):
Like I'm not going to be part of the next
podcast episode.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Okay, episode you.

Speaker 3 (06:38):
Went to the junkyard.

Speaker 2 (06:39):
I know you had that far. What was the plan
if you were in the middle of one.

Speaker 8 (06:44):
Well, look, I just made up a reason to leave,
like I didn't want to risk it because he just
seemed too into the junk yard and being there.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Yeah, he didn't tell us that he took you to
a junk yard.

Speaker 8 (06:56):
Look, I don't know it just it wasn't my thing,
Like I had bad signs and I just wanted to
get out of their fast.

Speaker 6 (07:02):
When you say he was into it, like what what
was he doing? Was he like, oh, that's a good
place to hide a body.

Speaker 8 (07:10):
He was He was really like taking me deep in there.
We were getting into darker areas and just felt like
at any point I could be trapped.

Speaker 2 (07:19):
Yeah, that's scary and weird.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
It was weird.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah, all right, well thank you for telling us. I
can see how that would be a little off putting
to be taken to a junk yard. Yes, for no reason.

Speaker 5 (07:32):
I never thought. I never thought that a guy would
take me.

Speaker 2 (07:35):
There, Missy. James is on the phone and wants to
talk to you.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Miss No. I feel I'm so embarrassed. That's when you
thought I was just like luring you to a junkyard
to murder.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
You put it, okay, I mean now that you stayed
out loud. It does sound extreme, but you know it
was sketchy.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
James, I mean that's that's fair.

Speaker 7 (08:04):
I guess there's some random dude was ended up wandering
me into a junk yard.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
I'd be a little freaked out, but like I wasn't.
I wasn't trying to be creepy.

Speaker 10 (08:12):
I like my family didn't have a lot growing up,
so like free time, my brother and I used to
like go to the junk yard and like root around
and either try to find stuff that we could fix
up or find cool stuff that people threw away.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
You know, so like we were always making the best
out of a worst situation.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
And I guess, on like some weird sub conscious level,
it's what I was still doing.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
But you know, we were eating ice cream. I wasn't
intending to go to the junk yard. It was just
like right where we were, so.

Speaker 7 (08:40):
It seemed like a trip down memory lane. It was
something I I feel like I wanted to share.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
I don't know. Uh yeah, James, but you could have
told me that, like I was on edge the whole
time while I was there.

Speaker 8 (08:52):
I mean, you would have said anything about your family,
you know, about how important it was to you and
instead you.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
Over here like greening me into like the most contact area.

Speaker 8 (09:00):
It's it's kind of gross. You know, there's a lot
of junk that glamorous and what were you thinking?

Speaker 3 (09:06):
You didn't like any part of the junk yard?

Speaker 7 (09:09):
Now when now, when that machine was like crushing the cars,
like all the cool broken glasses and stuff around.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
So absolutely not. No, I mean have you done this
other girls? Like is this your idea? O?

Speaker 3 (09:25):
Girls? It wasn't my intention, but I guess like, no,
this was a this is one of a kind thing.
You were the only girl I wanted to take to
the junk yard.

Speaker 2 (09:34):
Oh, and sounds so sweet.

Speaker 3 (09:38):
I just yeah, I didn't want to. I didn't want
to make you scared, and I clearly messed that up.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
Gosh, I don't know, I don't know how to feel
about it, because like I genuinely was scared for my
life when we were there.

Speaker 8 (09:52):
But I mean, like, I know, I know, I know, Okay,
I know it sounds like I was overreacting, so really.

Speaker 3 (10:00):
Well, I feel just terrible about how it ended.

Speaker 7 (10:05):
And if you feel like taking another risk on me,
I promise I will not take you to the junk yard.

Speaker 3 (10:11):
We can go get some mocktails or small place.

Speaker 7 (10:14):
Or whatever it is that is the furthest thing away
from a micro brewery and trash.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
Actually, you know.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
If you're willing to maybe go on another date. When
you left, I found this cool thing that at the
junker with that, like, I thought would be cool to
GISs you.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Hey, Massy, would you like to go on another date
with James? We'll pay for it.

Speaker 5 (10:36):
Wait, you made me something from the junk yard.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah, there was this. Really, you know, there was a
lot of hidden potential behind this thing that I thought.
So I made you something and sought it would look
good on you.

Speaker 9 (10:48):
Wow, I mean yeah, that's.

Speaker 5 (10:54):
Unique.

Speaker 9 (10:54):
I guess, thank you? Yes, I yeah, yeah, I mean
I believe him like he seems sincere. So I'm just
gonna have to put my fear away and I'll give
him another shot.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
You can share your location with all you a little bit.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
It can be the most public place you can invite
a bunch of your friends.

Speaker 7 (11:15):
I will make it as safe of an environment and
the least trash.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Light that I can. But this necklace is going to
look great on you.

Speaker 7 (11:24):
Made out a word you polish a dirty enough piece
of metal and it shurns just like your eyes.

Speaker 2 (11:35):
You will first day follow up
