Speaker 1 (00:00):
Give us three minutes and we'll give you everything you
need to know for the day. But it's time for
Nina's what's trending.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
The world is becoming a little safer for women and ladies.
As you listen to these stories, I'm curious to see
if you feel like this is something that you would use.
There are two new ways to protect yourself. The first
is with Uber. They're launching a new feature called Women
Preferences here in the US. So this is going to
allow women riders and drivers to connect with each other
and offer choices so women can decide to just ride
(00:27):
with women drivers, or women drivers can show us only
have women in their car. I guess I didn't realize
how much of a problem that was for some people
between the drivers and the riders with harassment and so. Right,
so they've got a pilot, a pilot trial. I don't
know how what you explained to us, but you know
they're starting at the trial period for this is happening
(00:48):
in La San Francisco in Detroit, and that's starting in
the next coming weeks. That's cool to see if this
is something that people are actually choosing to do.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
If I were a woman, I never want to get
into an Uber if it wasn't a female driver. Yeah,
I mean, as a dude, I get in the and
I'm already creeped out. Like every single time, it takes
a minute for me to trust them, you know, like
I can if I like I fill it out and like,
oh they're cool.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Most of the time I get in and I'm like,
all right, I have no idea who this person is
just driving me. I'm pretty sure they're creepy.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
Yeah, isn't it.
Speaker 3 (01:14):
But you got in the car anyways, Well.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
I gotta get somewhere, you know. But if I was
a woman, I would not get in the car.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
I just always assume we're protected by the app, because
like you can find me, I can find you if
anything were to happen, and we're easily tracked. And I
mean I think it also depends. Are you the kind
of person that gets in the car and talks or
you the kind of person that gets in the car, right.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
Right, So we gotta remember, you know, I don't know, Yeah,
you're protected by that, but there's still some people driving,
Like I got the craziest Uber drive of my life
was actually a female driver.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
So but you can't stop telling the story now, though.
Speaker 3 (01:44):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
I was in Vegas and I got into the Uber
and she was definitely on something. Oh no. The first
thing she does is I get in and she's like,
you know, you notice how many cops are around? And
I was like, no, no, I didn't. She's like, yeah,
there's cops all over the place. And then she was
taking me to where I was going, and she got
on the freeway on the on the off ramp, she
(02:06):
like got on the wrong way of the freeway and
I was like, hey, get off the freeway. You're on
the wrong way and she's like, it's just a construction
and I'm like, no, get off the freeway right now.
Let me off the car. And then she was arguing
with me, and we were arguing the whole way until
she got off the freeway the next exit, and she
was saying it was just because of construction, and I
was like, it's definitely not construction.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
How many stars did she have? I want to after
that ride, it changed real quick. It is scary, so
maybe there should be an option for that too.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Sober driver, Yeah, did not get in the car with
the Uber driver who is asked you about the cops
and is chewing on their tongue. Oh yeah, she was like,
well let's.
Speaker 2 (02:49):
See what happens. Yeah, there's another way to protect herself. Ladies.
There's a new app and it's called Tea. So if
you remember the Facebook group are we Dating the same guy?
Oh yeah, it's basically made after that. So what it
is is an app that allows you to post pictures
(03:09):
of the people that you're dating, ask to find out
if you have any tea on the on the doe,
any stories, what happened? And this is all to I mean,
because we're all out here like are we being caffished?
Are you gonna love on me? Are we getting gas lit?
And so now all of the interesting I mean, I
don't know. It's kind of wild because I don't know
if some people are different with other people or they
grow and if you are asking about somebody that you
(03:31):
dated ten years ago and they were psycho but now
they are like different, not psycho, I don't know there
are psychos. I'm giving people the benefit of doubt right now.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
But no, that's very true because like what if you
did it's in one ten years ago with they're a
very completely different person than what they were then. I
don't know. It's kind of like how you don't like
you don't talk to someone's ex because they were a
completely different person, right, I don't know like that.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
There's always two sides to a story. Yeah, three sides,
I guess three, right, yours mind and the truth.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
I'm mostly can't get the true.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
So what do we do exactly? So you choose to
trust the person, well, trust yourself to walk away if
the person is not good for you. And therefore you
trust them because you trust yourself that you will leave
it if you need to. Yeah, because otherwise, hearing a
bunch of stories from an ex, no matter what the
situation going to be, it's going to be one sided,
(04:20):
and then they're going to convince and you might miss
out on something that's good for you because you're believing them.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
But if it's.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
Somebody that's like, I don't want anybody else to date him,
so I'm just going to make up all these stories.
So now you're scre It sucks not to poke holes
in something that is meant to protect you. I think
that the moral of the story is ask questions, yes, yes,
and you know, choose for yourself. Yeah, either way, stay protected,
stay smart, and go girls.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
That's strending.
