Speaker 1 (00:14):
Yo, what's up everyone?

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Welcome back to The K Factor Everything k Pop hosted
by Bomhan. I am your host, Bomhan, and here is
a little reminder that you can find this podcast on iHeartRadio, app,
Apple Music or wherever you get your podcasts. And starting
off today, we have K pop News. Oh my god,
it has been so long since we had K pop news.

(00:37):
The past couple of episodes has been interviews with live guests.
We just recently got off an episode at the Gas
South Arena in Atlanta where we interviewed Hohan, one of
the performers of the day, and we did a guest
performance with Kevin Wu, also a previous guest on the
iHeartRadio podcast K Factor, which is this one.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Isn't that so cool?

Speaker 2 (00:57):
The amount of connections that we can make and and
everything just builds from this root that we build right
here with what we're doing. And we're going to talk
about all these little solo activities a little bit later.
But jumping into the podcast today, we have the latest
K pop news. And this is in no particular order,
but i've Liso was recently mistaken for Wang Young in

(01:20):
recent picks. This seems to be a similar recurring theme
happening in I've where everybody, including Liz Ray, is just
slowly starting to look like Wanyung, who is known to
be the visual of the group. And honestly, in my opinion,
I think that's a huge compliment. I would love to
look like my friends. Every single day I start blending

(01:41):
in with my friends, I take a little bit of
I take a little bit inspiration from their fits here.
I take a little bit inspiration of them here. I'm like, oh, like,
how'd you do your hair like that?

Speaker 1 (01:50):
You know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (01:51):
And you want these go grips to be best friends.
And when they slowly start blending in together, that's how
you know they're getting closer and closer. I know that's
not the implications that these controversies are kind of coming
up as is more of a narrative on like plastic
surgery and all these things. But hey, at the end
of the day, they're friends. If they look more and
more similar, that's beautiful. That means they love each other. Heck, yeah,

(02:13):
all right. And Kat's Eye debutes the gap commercial with
the backing track of My Milkshake brings out a boys
a yard. Damn right, it's better than your Oh my gosh,
it is so good. This kind of Gap, this commercial
that they did for Gap as a response to the
American Eagle Sinney Sweeney thing is a beautiful use of

(02:37):
K pop concepts to do something that has been done
for years and years and years. I remember as a
kid watching these commercials, watching these movies with all these
beautiful dance lines and huge dance productions all to deliver
a message. My gosh, this is the kind of thing
that this is the kind of thing that inspires an

(02:59):
entire generation. Like I literally remember the pieces of media
that I consumed that left such an impact on me.
And we're not gonna see the impact of what Kassai
has just done for maybe five years, maybe ten years,
but then fifteen years later, there's gonna be a little
girl somewhere that's like, Oh, I started dancing because I
saw that Gap commercial that CATSI just did, So congratulations Katsi.

(03:21):
This is a huge thing, huge commercial, great messaging, beautiful jeans.
I love that they were also dancing in jeans like that.
That says so much about the jeans, Like you saw
her pop that split in Gap jeans. I'm gonna I'm
gonna walk to gap right now.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:37):
Speaking on Katsai, Katsi debuted about a year ago, but
a new high global girl group named Gethen was already
announced to be in the works, set to debut next year.
This leaves a lot of cats eyes fans uneasy. They're like, oh, like,
we haven't been getting fed a lot by Katsai. I

(03:58):
bet this is why and all these things. But I
think it's be fine. Hip is a huge company, guys,
Hive is huge. Hibe could have a tenth of their
company running this group and that, and and it wouldn't
even phase them, Like like, we will be fine if
it's different management, if it's different all these things, don't
even worry about it. I think we'll be okay. Wrapping

(04:19):
up on Katsi, Katsai also recently claims that Laserafim is
like their sister group, kind of like always giving them advice,
mentorship and then just just just always being there to
kind of watch over them. And it makes a lot
of sense because I love kats I and I I love.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
And the Serifim is so good. I love the music
that they do.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I recently got Casta to do like.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Like a DJ set for Puerto Rico.

Speaker 2 (04:48):
So if you guys are in Puerto Rico, like I'll
be there so hosting an after party. And I'm be honest,
most most of my set is gonna be the Serafim there.
The way their music, high energy, all these things, it
gives that freshness, you know what I mean. However, on
the topic of the Seraphim, La seraphims chi One is
currently under fire for a controversial video of her kissing

(05:14):
her dog mouth open.

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Letting the dog and make up all inside her.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
Of her mouth for an extended periods of time. I'm
gonna be honest to me, here's non issue. But people
are mad. They're like, yo, are we kissing our dogs?
Like this's like really And in defense of this, videos
of BTS's b surfaces in defense of him doing the
same thing, and nobody made it an issue. So now
there's like, oh, double standards of BTS A B and

(05:42):
La seraphims chi One. What do we think about kissing
our dogs? What do we think? Do you kiss your dogs?
I'm gonna be honest me, personally, I think there's a
non issue, but I also like, don't kiss my dogs.
But it's like it's it's like let people do what
they want. Man, Like the dog is happy, she's happy,
Like like, you know, you know what I mean. Is
it a little bit strange to us because we don't

(06:03):
understand it one percent? Like yeah, is it disturbing because
we don't understand it and we don't really see that
in our daily lives? Like yeah, but it's like, let
them do what they want. The dog is happy, she's happy,
you know what I mean. And speaking of BTS, this
one is a little bit more of a sensitive topic.

(06:25):
There is someone on the internet. Her name is Sungden,
and she has posted a story of BTS Jim and
in an elevator greeting her. And she did this as
a defense to online bullying from fans because she has
been involved in dating rumors with BTS for quite a

(06:50):
while now, and the bullying started intensifying. Threats, all these
things are getting sent out, and she crashed out and
and was like, you know what, here, look at this
and uploaded a video story of BTS Jim and greeting
her in an elevator, and people were like WHOA. A
lot of the information around this topic is widely speculative,

(07:15):
and that is the extent of solid information that we have.
We don't know whether it confirms that they're dating or
any of these things. A lot of the controversy right
now is that this is a violation of BTS Jim's
privacy because he didn't consent to this, and this is

(07:38):
something that could do a lot of damage to his
career and all these things, and like why would she
just post something so personal all the context leading up
to it. Is also a bit of a niche topic
because she was getting bullied, she's getting pushed. We don't
know where her mental health is at. At the end
of the day, people are pushing for jim In to
file a lawsuit. How they handle this situation or what

(08:01):
this implicates is up to you, guys. I am simply
here delivering the information. And do you think that he
should file a laws it? Do you? What do you
think this confirms? Da da da da da. That's up
to you, guys. And that is the latest news happening
with BTS Jimmin. And speaking of boy groups, stray Kids

(08:22):
has dropped a new album, WHOA There We Go. Stray
Kids just set a record for the biggest drop on
US daily charts with eight songs on the top one
fifty four tracks have fell out by day two, But
that is a huge accomplishment. Proves every single day that
K pop is growing and growing and growing, and years

(08:46):
and years ago, we would have never imagined for kpop
to be able to make such waves, to be able
to do such such such amazing things. With each and
every single drop, we get a little bit, a little
bit closer, and with the representation that we're able to gather,
it's a beautiful thing. And speaking of representation on the charts, Yo,

(09:09):
K Pop Demon Hunters is still going strong. Oh my god,
and rightfully so, I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
I know why.

Speaker 2 (09:17):
My eight year old nephew has watched K Pop Demon
Hunters fifteen times. I know what you're thinking, Wow, what
a hyperbolic statement. No, I watched this dude. This dude
watch the movie from beginning to end, sing every single
song come to me and go seven, and I go what,

(09:39):
And then he goes up. He watches the movie again
the next day and goes eight, and then he did
this all the way until fifteen and he knows all
the words. So K Pop Demon Hunters, You're welcome. I
found your guy. Golden hit number one on the Global
Spotify chart, the Global Spotify chart. This is Yo, I'm

(10:01):
so Dead. This is the first girl group to do it,
to hit number one on the Global Spotify chart since
Destiny's Child, and globally they were number one everywhere except Korea,
where there were number two behind BCSA Jim and his

(10:24):
single who.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
Isn't That Crazy?

Speaker 2 (10:26):
The first girl group to hit number one on Billboard's
Top one hundred since Destiny's Child. They're not even a
real group. What are we doing, guys? This is amazing.
I love this. I am so happy that marks our
last bit of K pop news. Thank you for tuning

(10:47):
into this little segment. And it feels good doing this
for the radio listeners. It feels good being back doing
the K Factor podcast in.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
A regular setting.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
We've been taking a little bit of a break because
I've had a new song come out called Dancing under Moonlight.
We're shooting in the music videos, traveling around doing promotions,
and sometimes like these things couldn't fit in one hundred
percent of our schedule, but we're gonna make it work
as best as possible. And and I am so grateful
to iHeartRadio. I am so grateful to all the listeners

(11:24):
here who continue to elevate this podcast to bigger and
bigger platforms. And just thank you guys for listening in
keeping this show alive and staying strong for the little
episodes that we have missed. And now we are back
on the train k Pop News every single week interviews
with amazing, beautiful guests. We already got guests lined up

(11:46):
up the wazoo and I can't wait for it to
bring more conversations to you guys. And here's a little
bit of an update for you guys. On my own
personal side, I saw Kevin Will again, one of our
previous guests, forming you Kiss member and turned Saja boy
because we were talking about K pop demon Hunters, and

(12:07):
I coincidentally ran into him at the Gas South Arena
where where we were doing a concert together, and he
graciously came out to me in the green room and
was like hi man. I'm like what, and he goes,
you wanna you wanna? You want to come on stage
with me? I'm like what. He's like, Yeah, I'm doing
Soda Pop and I'm kind of like doing it by
myself and you want to like do it with me?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
I'm like, oh, oh yeah, and This was like five.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
Minutes before he goes on stage, and then and then
just one thing leads to another and there I am
on the stage with my with my bright blonde hair,
next to Missteryaja and we're just the Saja boys doing
soda pop. And that was an amazing thing that I
think I will remember for the rest of my life

(12:51):
and I would I think I would tell my kids
about And it was all made possible because of this
K Factor podcast. We have a new song coming out
called Dance Sing under Moonlight. If you guys haven't heard
it yet, we are going to be playing it all
over iHeartRadio media, So if you guys are listening to
the K Pop playlisting and the K pop Radio channel,

(13:13):
you guys will hear the song occasionally.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
And if you guys just hear like a dope song,
you just.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
Be like, maybe that's dancing under Moonlight? Right, is a
song that I'm super proud of. We worked on this
entire project for about a year and a half now
and things are finally rolling out. And this this this
radio placement has just been like an amazing opportunity for
all these things to come together. I'm so I'm so
happy what else has been happening. We've been Oh, we've

(13:42):
had our first live fan come onto the podcast and
we interviewed our first fan live. So when we do
these events, we do these live tapings of the podcast,
which we have done last week with Hohan and we
were able to of you one of you guys last
and I was like, looking like I was kind of nervous.

(14:03):
I was like, Oh my gosh, like anything can happen
right now. I hope things go well, and things did
go well. I hope that you guys enjoyed hearing yourself
on the radio. And if we do more events like
that in the future, just know that your place is there.
We have a seat for you. Come join us, travel

(14:25):
with us, do any do whatever it is that you
want or need, and you will find your place on radio.
We're here to share the platform, you know what I mean.
So I'm super happy and I'm gonna I'm gonna, I'm
gonna wrap up a little bit of these promotions.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I don't want to just like throw things in your face.

Speaker 2 (14:41):
But if you guys ever want to join more, if
I mean, if you guys, if you guys ever want
to know where this show is going, next we are
going to Minnesota, We're going to Colorado, We're going to
Puerto Rico. And these are the places. If this podcast
reaches you and you happen to be in these areas,
we are coming. Okay, so that's a quick little wrap

(15:03):
up on that.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
I have moved back to New York, as some of
you guys know, And this is the most amazing place.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
I love New York so much, and.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
And you I grew up here, but you I gained
like a new found kind of love for the city.
Knowing that I've left for a while and I've seen
what the world has for me, and and at the
end of the day, this is home and I'm back,
and I've never felt more myself. I never felt more happy.
I've been able to meet wonderful new friends. As I

(15:36):
was saying when we were like discussing the whole, I've
Lisa with Liz and Ray looking more like Juan Young,
Like I'm just taking in the energies of my friends.
And that's such like a beautiful thing for me. And
and dance has a spark and love again for me,
like ever since I left, and I had like a
little brief like a training like intense passion passion training

(15:58):
area where I was going to like workshops and all
these things in Korea, but it was missing that little
kind of flavor for me, and I didn't know what
it was, and I slowly started falling out of love
with dance and I started losing sight of my art
and all these things. But being back in New York,
my gosh, today I took a class on forty seconds

(16:19):
straight and it feels like all the world's most amazing
dancers were in this room and it was such a
lack of ego because there wasn't a single camera. There
wasn't like everyone was dancing their heart out, but no one,
not a single person recorded themselves and no one even
now that I think about it, like there wasn't even

(16:41):
like a guy that like kick comes in at like
the last ten minutes of the class, so like with
like a you know, like a big camera, so everyone
gets their little like Instagram moment, Yo, I don't. I
think the most followers in that room was probably someone
with like six thousand and these are the most disciplined
professional dancers I've ever seen in my life. And it's
is this is this is this new York feeling of

(17:04):
being in the moment. And I always grew up thinking
that New York was like, oh like behind Los Angeles
and the dance scene, oh like behind this and like
the creative arts, and I was like, oh like like
I was like, oh, like, the only way I can
pursue this is if I do K pop. Where if
I move to LA and do all these things. I

(17:24):
what I was missing as a kid was the soul,
was the the the the spirit of the art and
really being present in the art.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
And I hope that I can communicate these things, communicate.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
These growths to you guys as I continue on with
my future projects, and and and and and this this
feeling is like it's just back in my heart and
is what made me fall in love with the arts
in the first place, And and is like nowadays also
K pop is is you're seeing more and more of

(18:01):
that grit. I think we're getting closer and closer, like
their K pop is always going to be commercialized, It's
always going to be commercialized as the spirit of K
pop two. But with groups like Cortis, with groups that
like Cats Eye, with groups with these global groups that
are bringing in these inspirations directly into their art and

(18:23):
really living and growing up around that and then making
that their priority. I see K pop moving in this
direction as well, and one day I hope that I
can also contribute to that conversation. So thank you guys.
This is the K Factor Everything K Pop podcast hosted
