Speaker 1 (00:14):
First, to open the show, we have our segment of
K pop news and updates and what's happening in the
world of k pop. First, we're going to open with
the top five songs on the charts right now at
number five with countdown by TWS. Number four, we have
Drowning with woods pop Pop by NCT wish, number two,
Oh Really, by next is oh my gosh. Wait hold on, next,

(00:36):
there is there anything pronounced?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Next?

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Well, they're number two right now, so they're killing it.
And I haven't heard this song yet, so I'm gonna
go listen to it and I'm gonna learn how to
say your name.

Speaker 3 (00:44):
Next.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
Uh, that was number two with oh Really? And number
one we have chains with highlight and this is this
week's top five in k pop and also in the
latest K Pop News, Something shopping has happened so twice
is Santa or Sorry? Something shocking has happened twice? Asana
has gone on a SBS broadcast a variety show to

(01:07):
reveal that she has wanted to run away as a
training multiple times, to the point where she's packed her
bags and the way that she described it was. At seventeen,
she moved to Korea a load to pursue her dream.
Back then, I used to think about sneaking out in
the early hours. I even wondered how to quietly wheel

(01:28):
out my suitcase without making it out the front door.
That that, to me, is absolutely insane. Can you imagine
the amount of stress that you have to be in
to get that far. This is like a little mini
crash out, which we're gonna talk about later in the episode.
Then next we have a former Signature member who reveals

(01:49):
that she was kicked out of the group's signature for
not losing enough weight. She revealed that the company's weight
and diet requirements for idols were extremely strict, which led
to her developing eating disorder, and she was eventually kicked
out after not meeting the evaluations. And it's very tough
and it's a very real thing that these idols have
to go through with And we'll be discussing this more

(02:10):
later as well. Then we have kiss Up Life. We
covered this a couple of episodes ago, but recently they
held a live stream to celebrate member Julie's birthday where
they dressed in old school hip hop outfits. They wore chains,
and one of the members belt was named a little taco.

(02:32):
I am no expert in live streams, but that looks bad.
That looks really bad. I'm sure they were going coming
from a place in their hearts of cultural appreciation. However,
it came off as cultural appropriation and they were very
insensitive in the live stream. And unfortunately, the reason why

(02:53):
we bring it audit up again was because they were
very recently taken off of the lineup in kekon LA
and Los Angeles.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
LA has a lot.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Of musical influences from these eras and all these things,
and they take these things very seriously, and the crowd
was not enjoying their participation after this controversy, and therefore
they were moving the lineup after the YG leaker scandal.
It's just not the time. From my experience, I learned
that just because something seems funny in the moment doesn't
mean it's appropriate, and you've got.

Speaker 3 (03:24):
To think twice.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Growth comes from these kind of things happening. So I
hope that they can grow from this moment. And yeah,
I guess that's it, I said for K Pop News,
and we're gonna go straight into our episode. Thank you guys, Hello.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Ever buddy, and welcome back to The K Factor, everything
K Pop, voiced by Bomhan and today we're alive in
Industry City with a very special guest, Jackie Jingo.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Yes you actually MCD event I did. Yeah, yeah, okay,
and you were like this huge, colorful, bright.

Speaker 4 (03:53):
Light and they were introducing you and it was this
long laundry list of things, Alba, I want to be
here one day.

Speaker 5 (04:02):
Oh my gosh, okay, Loki, that is a huge problem.
And I'm not gonna lie about Randy's intro for me,
I was just like it was.

Speaker 3 (04:09):
Like two pages.

Speaker 5 (04:10):
I was like, yeah, like we could have said three
of those things that they wouldn't have been.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
That's amazing. Like I think, like I wish my intro
was that long.

Speaker 6 (04:17):
It will be.

Speaker 7 (04:18):
It will be. I ain't even worried.

Speaker 5 (04:19):
But yeah, for people who don't know me, Hi, my
name's Jackie Bmhan and I were actually just a part
of this amazing Asian American Heritage festival which was basically
put off by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, and you
killed it. Honestly, it was so fun. Actually we said
your your nephew Ethan.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
Oh Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
Everything was I do an event in New York. My
whole family comes out and like like my mom like
brings flowers and like throws Ethan on the stage.

Speaker 8 (04:47):
Oh oh, I know, even's great. I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 5 (04:51):
I immediately was like, okay, Ethan's a star, and I
did a little interview with him.

Speaker 8 (04:55):
But yeah, honestly, I'm like where do I start.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
I'm an actor, content creator, I'm a host, I sing, I.

Speaker 7 (05:03):
Do a bunch of different stuff. I've had a crazy career.

Speaker 5 (05:06):
I started off as a broadcast journalist and was nominated
for an Emmy, and then I had this like complete
midlife crisis and I was like, you know what, I
want to get into video game and anime hosting. So
I just picked up my life and moved to Los
Angeles and that has been what I've been doing for
several years now. So yeah, I stream on Twitch, I

(05:29):
make tiktoks.

Speaker 7 (05:30):
It's like all you're you.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Know, you know the game.

Speaker 5 (05:33):
Yeah, but it's been a crazy journey. And then I
actually was hosting the ribbon cutting ceremony for the bond
NY name Go cross Ward, which is here in Brooklyn,
and the Brooklyn cham from Commerce was like, hey, when
you like to host this? And I was like, why
would I not want to come back to Brooklyn. So
that's on here and that's kind of my journey.

Speaker 7 (05:51):
Yeah. I hosted E three. I don't know if you
know E three.

Speaker 5 (05:55):
E three was like the biggest video game convention in
the world, and it was like all gamers knew about it,
but it kind of it's gone.

Speaker 8 (06:05):
It ended in twenty twenty one. But yeah, I mean
like all the.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
All the biggest video games would show up and like
put in these huge presentations within COVID.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Yeah, yeah, okay, I know that.

Speaker 7 (06:18):
What the heck?

Speaker 8 (06:19):
Yes, I did in twenty twenty one.

Speaker 7 (06:21):
The last one, So that's incredible.

Speaker 2 (06:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (06:24):
No, I'm like you, life is.

Speaker 3 (06:26):
How long has his journey been for you?

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Honestly, I'm thirty eight and I am just thirty eight. Yeah,
oh my god.

Speaker 7 (06:37):
You know sunscreen super Bowl?

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Let me tell you.

Speaker 8 (06:41):
Don't don't sleep on sunscreen vidows.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, seriously, if it gets me where you are.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
Oh my god, thank you. Do not sleep on skincare.
That's all I'm gonna say. But I do think sunscreen
is key. Anyway, I digress.

Speaker 7 (06:53):
What was my cool?

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Oh wait wait, I said, how long has this journey been?

Speaker 8 (06:57):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (06:58):
I mean, honestly, I off of broadcast journalism for ten
years and I was a morning anchor and I hated it.

Speaker 7 (07:07):
I hated it.

Speaker 5 (07:07):
Like TV news is super negative and just not fun.
And I had a pretty big family. Tragedy actually happened.
I don't want to let you bum me all out
too hard. My brother passed away and he was like
my everything, and he and I loved playing video games
and we loved anime, and so he was always like,
you should quit the TV news business and move to

(07:30):
LA and try to host video game and anime events.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
And I was like, what are you talking about, dude.
I was like that, just like this is so insane,
you know.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
And then when he passed away, I was like I
got at least try, you know. So I went out
to LA and that has been my life.

Speaker 7 (07:45):
You know.

Speaker 8 (07:47):
It's I mean, look at you, look at what you're doing.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
It's like, don't just take risks people like I wish
someone told me that when I was younger, to be honest,
because it took like something really big and life changing
for me.

Speaker 8 (08:00):
And I'm just like, dude, if anybody meets me, I'm
just like.

Speaker 7 (08:03):
What do you want to do?

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Like do wow for me?

Speaker 4 (08:08):
When I was listening to as story, like I kind
of feel fear in like changing direction like an industry,
you know, like I'm only twenty three, twenty four ish. Yeah,
and it's like I was like doing live streams and
like doing K pop and when I was like, oh,
like I want to do something different and we approached
the podcast for example, yeah, I was like, oh, like
it's so far.

Speaker 3 (08:27):
Out of my range, like my box, you know.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
It was just like just comfort like this this like whatever,
you know, like for any like young people like listening
who are like it could be like going through the
same thing.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
Like what would you say?

Speaker 5 (08:37):
So I would say, literally, whatever is supposed to happen
is going to happen, right, or like whatever is your
path and your journey, like it's going to happen. So
just put your energy and your hard work into whatever
you really want and just.

Speaker 7 (08:54):
Like fallow, let things happen, let things flow.

Speaker 9 (08:57):
You know.

Speaker 5 (08:57):
So it's kind of funny like you were like, okay,
podcasting and like what the heck right, But look at
where you water, right, and like you're hosting this and
you're doing a great job. So whatever supposed to play
out will, I think, like the biggest thing is, you know,
people feel that fear and then they're like I'm I
give up and I am scared or whatever, right, and it's.

Speaker 7 (09:17):
Like just try because you never know what's going to happen.

Speaker 5 (09:21):
Like, look, you're trying this podcasting thing, and it's suddenly
just try.

Speaker 7 (09:25):
That's my advice.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
And I got to.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Meet you you. Thank thank you for coming on to
the show, thank you for for taking on this industry
city thing using for the community.

Speaker 3 (09:37):
Yeah, and you're amazing. Thank you so much.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
Sorry, I like we did like a quick interview and
I literally like just gave you like all the trauma
that life story.

Speaker 3 (09:47):
Like what the hell I am? I am honored that
you trust me with being open.

Speaker 5 (09:53):
Yeah, well you you have a bubbly open heart. And honestly,
like your fans came now and it was like rain
or shine, like they were there, you know, and like
that just to me. I was honored to be on
that stage with all of you, you know. And then
it's like to see how many people love you and
came out for you. I know you're like, oh it
was just a few, but like those people were screaming

(10:15):
for you and beads their whole.

Speaker 7 (10:16):
It's it's it's beautiful.

Speaker 8 (10:18):
What art is?

Speaker 7 (10:18):
Sorry, I'll be quiet now.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
Thank thank you, thank thank you for today, for your energy.

Speaker 3 (10:25):
Can you forgot me? What's in a cankor hold REMI
welcome back to the K Factor.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
Everything K PAP was like, bohah, we're still here live
in this year city and we just came back from
a huge festival and this is no big man.

Speaker 9 (10:40):
Randy himself, thank you, thank you, thank you. Sure and
Randy pierres On, President CEO here at the Brooklyn Chamber
of Commerce in Brooklyn, New York.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Yeah, and we.

Speaker 6 (10:48):
Actually met an elevator in Lantatoria and it was like this,
this crossing of destiny is how I told my afterwards,
because in Lands, Georgia is this brandown business convention.

Speaker 2 (11:02):
I had no business being there, by the way, and
I was there doing the podcast.

Speaker 3 (11:08):
I see this.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Yeah, and the group that was performing my my very
very clost to your friends go MAXX and then somehow.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Yeah, and it was you have stuff and then and
then it was like, oh you're from Brooklyn. I'm like
born and raised race. Okay, so I have so many questions.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Okay, what what inspired you to throw like a like
a Chinese American Heritage.

Speaker 9 (11:36):
Asian American, Asian American heritage cheval and celebration. Uh so,
we really are celebrating almost all Asian cultures that are
represented here in New York City and in Brooklyn in particular.
And you know the beauty of Brooklyn, and you know
this because you grow up here as well is and
I feel very blessed to have grown up here because
we've been exposed to so many different cultures throughout our

(11:56):
lives and it helps you to really appreciate, like just
people in general, because different people bring different perspectives and
different cultural elements. And in Brooklyn we blended altogether like
one family. And today we were really celebrating Asian American
Pacific islander at contributions to the city, and.

Speaker 2 (12:15):
We were bringing up all these people like talking about
like the role in the city and like everyone just
celebrating this one thing.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
I felt so empowerand how fast right, Yeah, you know,
I called it the brook A diaspora too.

Speaker 5 (12:28):
You know.

Speaker 9 (12:28):
One Americans can trace some of their family history back
to Brooklyn, and that's because for over three hundred years
we have been the landing place for immigrants, for immigrants
from all over the world. Alis Island is where they start.
Matter of fact, if you look out the window right
here and we're sitting across from Lady Liberty Statue, Liberty,
that's where Ellis Island is.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
And people would be processed.

Speaker 9 (12:49):
On Ellen's Island and then a lot of them would
end up here in Brooklyn, making this their first home
in the United States. And that's been happening for over
three hundred and fifty years. And that's the beauty of
this place we call home is that so many people
have come here and have really put their imprint on
this place in a way that it's just unique, unique

(13:10):
throughout the world.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
So this is the second year of this event. Yeah, yeah,
So this is our second annual.

Speaker 9 (13:17):
You know, we do other events throughout the year.

Speaker 3 (13:19):
You know, we're the business Association for Brooklyn.

Speaker 9 (13:21):
So our goal and our mandate is really to support
particularly our small business communities here in Brooklyn. And it's
not easily run a small business in Brookland. You know,
we do Black History Month celebration and then for example
in February, we do this Asian Heritage Month celebration in May,
but we do a lot of other some educational type events.
So we do a big energy summit where we talk
about so changes in the energy sector. We have a

(13:42):
not for profit summit. We have a real estate event
that we do every year. We do networking events. You know,
we chambers are commas. It's pretty common. We do a
lot of events. But the goal is really to kind
of help and support small businesses throughout throughout the borough.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
I can see that mission that you walk with and
it's like it's so honest, as so pure, and I'm like, okay,
as a listener, even as like myself, how can we
best support these things and can keep on doing addition
that they can see you.

Speaker 3 (14:08):
Yeah, so that's a really great question.

Speaker 9 (14:10):
So one of the things that I always like to say,
if you want to really support small businesses, be very
intentional about how you shop.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Right. So, we live in an age where it's very easy.

Speaker 9 (14:21):
To sort of point, click and ship and it's convenient,
and you know, and I think we all do that,
and I'm not saying don't do that, but understand that
when you're very intentional and you go out and you
actually shop in a mom in business, you're supporting not
just them, but their families, their community and those dollars

(14:42):
get circulated in that community.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
So you have to be very very intentional. So that's
one thing that we all can do really to help
and support our small businesses. Just be very intentional about
shopping locally, anything about the community.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
So is there like a social media handle that they
follow you and it's had all these events.

Speaker 3 (14:58):
Yeah, so Workland Chamber.

Speaker 9 (15:01):
Our instagram is Brooklyn Chamber, and we're on Instagram, We're
on Facebook, we are on LinkedIn, We're on TikTok. Brooklyn
Chamber dot com is our website. And the other thing
we also run to retail stores ourselves, brook the Maid Stores,
and I'll just give them a plug because uh, in
those stores. We've won one at Industry City, one at

(15:22):
City Point, and we'd run online booklymidstore dot com. All
of the vendors that supply product City stores are independent
makers and designers that are based here in Brooklyn, and
really some of them never even had shelf space. So
this is a way for you to also be intentional
intentional in terms of supporting independent makers and designers universe.

(15:44):
For the book The Maid Stool, thank you, thank you, brother,
appreciate you, and I just want to say, like nothing,
everything else for a reason.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
There are no accidents in this world.

Speaker 9 (15:52):
And you know, our chance meeting literally in Atlanta, you know,
it led to this right and led to you being here,
which we're very very grateful. I'm very very grateful that
you came out and you performed for all of us here.
It was a tough weather day, but you were here.
You're amazing, You're super talented, and I look forward to
just following your career.

Speaker 3 (16:11):
Thank you, all right, thank you, thank you for inviting.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
I say such an honor, and that is our little
segment here live from Industry City, and I'm very happy
that I was able to compare to performance and empower
the community, empower the Asian heritage culture here and also
just support small local businesses. So I hope that you
guys enjoyed these little interviews and can support these wonderful creators.

Speaker 3 (16:32):
And there's our first live show, so hopefully you guys
can tune in next time and it'll be just as awesome.
So see you guys next week.
