Speaker 1 (00:14):
Hello everyone, and welcome back to The K Factor Everything
k Pop, a iHeartRadio podcast hosted by Bomhan, your favorite
former kPa trainee, inside source and perspectives every week, available
right to you on Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio app or wherever
you get your podcasts. Today is a short little episode
with just Me. We had like a little leak of

(00:37):
episodes in a row where it was interviews with like
all these cool people and just It was such an
honor like filming those episodes. But today we're gonna change
the pace a little bit and slow down, and we're
gonna talk about the news and comebacks because there's a
lot of interesting happening, a lot of interesting things happening
in the space right now. But to kind of start

(00:57):
it off in general right now, three members of You Kiss,
the group that Kevin Wu, one of our former guests,
was a part of, is joining together to make a
group called ux One that's pretty exciting. Girl Set is
going viral on TikTok right now, and they're capitalizing on
it by having a comeback on November fourteenth. Awesome, one

(01:17):
of our favorite groups, ill It, is also coming back
on November twenty fourth. Mama moo the vocal Powerhouse is
also coming back for the first time June of next year,
and it's gonna be followed by a world tour. Guys,
I am going to this tour. I think they are
one of the best vocalist singers ever in K pop.
That's my personal opinion. Don't come after me, but I

(01:39):
love Mama Moos so much and it's so nostalgic. I'm
so happy that they're coming back together and still pursuing
this wonderful dream and that world's hour. I will be there.
These are the kind of These are kind of the
most exciting comeback news and music news right now. The
landscape of K pop to be spoken about is kind
of the more gas B side, which I kind of

(02:02):
love to indulge in. Is just kind of like my
little guilty pleasure. I guess. Uh Coming out today on
November seventh, which this episode will be released, is Uh
Dungeon and Kat's Eye. Daniella comes out with a song
called let Me Tell You, and this is next level gaggery.
I have not seen choreography video direction this good in

(02:22):
a in a really long time. It doesn't seem like
a super high budget and it's just carried along by
their talents. It's a little bit of a shame that
Daniella didn't get that many vocal lines. But oh my god,
the gaggery, with the silhouettes, the choreography, the video direction.
I love this so much and it felt so like

(02:43):
like Western I don't know, like it feels like Cave
has like like taking this little turn with especially with
these solo projects. So I'm very excited for it. If
you guys haven't checked it out, it came out today
on November seventh, So once again and Cat's Eye Daniella
with let me tell you it is so beautiful. That's
the word I was looking for. It is a beautiful video,
a beautiful project that kind of seems like I'm doing

(03:06):
a lot, but it's just like visually pleasing, So please
check it out. Speaking of visuals, our Queen Lisa from
Black Pink is being discussed internally for the role of
live action Rapunzel WHOA. I hope this happens. I've never
seen a K pop idol be the lead for a

(03:27):
live action film in like Western Hollywood ever, and visually
like Lisa, she's earned her back and she's earned her
Flowers and I hope that she gets to do this
like so bad. I remember her, I remember all of
her like recent performances and all these things. It's just
I'm I'm personally a huge fan of Black Pink Lisa.
I hope she gets the role, and I hope that

(03:48):
she's celebrated for all the things that she's contributed to
K pop globalizing it and all these things. And please
please cast Lisa for the role of live action Rapunzele
please and uh kind of. On more funnier news, Cortis
was at the airport and because they were enounced to

(04:10):
be arriving at the airport at this time, there was
a huge crowd and one of the members of courtis
con home got his shoes robbed by the fans. They
were swarmed and mobbed and it was a little bit
of it was its sad news because it was mismanaged
and his security wasn't protecting them propularly, and there was

(04:31):
like way more people than thought. It's a celebration of
their success, but also a little bit sad and funny.
He lost his shoes and he had to go home barefoot.
Please the fans, who has con hoo shoes. Please give
his shoes back. I do not want to come back
from a super long promotional tour and get and have

(04:52):
to and have my shoes ran by my fans. Please
give me my shoes back. But fortunately they were probably
thrifted fashion. On the same day, Baby monsters Ion was
spotted at the airport, despite her taking a private flight
to avoid being spotted because she so unfortunately ended up

(05:16):
at the same airport at the same time with Cordis
and she's by herself. She took a private flight. She
didn't want to be recognized. She had her mask on,
she had no staff, and she landed and someone was like, yo, everybody,
let's take a break from Conho's shoes for a second.
Let's look to the right. Is that Baby monster Ion

(05:36):
by herself? And then they swarmed her. So poor lady,
But oh my god, that is so funny. They came
for Cordas and got a two for one deal. Speaking
of Cordis, they had an amazing promotional run. They performed
in America. They were in My Homesitdy New York during
the whole media circuit. They're at Washington Square Park. Please

(05:58):
do not stay there after eight pm. The rats run
that park. I remember going to Washington Square Park and
it was eight thirty and I walked in and four
rats ran at me at the same time with Pitchforks.
I was like, IYO, my fault. So I'm glad Courters
got their content. They did their little promotions they did.
They did their concert in New York, which was amazing.

(06:21):
I love Courts so much. And uh yeah. They also
did their first Japan concert at the same venue that
BTS's first Japan concert was. They said they want to
start at the same place that their Sonday Names did
and I think that's beautiful. A lot of people in
their comments are talking about how, oh they haven't found
a group that sparks that same fire that BTS did

(06:45):
until Kortas, and I think that's so beautiful. And watching
them perform, watching their dance practices, their old school dance practices,
listening to their music, and it's just everything kind of
comes together to and I hope that it propels them
so far forward and to where BTSs or even beyond.
And I personally love the group. I think they're so talented.

(07:05):
And please give con Hoos shoes back, please or sell
them to me, please, please hend my email anyway, onto
more funny slash sad news. We spoke a little bit
about this group of Fantasy Boys and Fantasy Boys Minso
reveals that his dorm's electricity was cut off for unpaid bills,

(07:31):
preventing him from contacting fans. Oh my god, that is
so real. This for groups in smaller companies, there are
so many less rules than you would expect, Like like
anything goes is just three people in a basement. I'm
not saying this is how Fantasy Boys company is run,

(07:53):
but generally for like these smaller companies with like where
like it's like four two three letters that like just
kind of thrown together and they're like, oh, we are
uh d u I Entertainment and and and it's just
run by like like two dudes who was like, oh
my god, let's drink some sojiu and have an idea.

(08:17):
And then they cast like a bunch of like young
young Korean boys to like live in this basement with them,
and they're like, yeah, I don't know, you can dance.
And it's just like this is so real. Like it's
like unless you're part of these bigger companies, like you're
gonna deal with a lot of hardship. And if you
see any groups who have debuted gone through all these
shruggles and it's even a little bit successful, just know

(08:40):
that they have really gone through the ringer like and
unfortunately Fantasy Boys. You guys are the medium of which
I am telling and sharing this anecdote. I'm not saying
that's how you guys are run. I don't know anything
about your management and company, but I saw that was
like a funny little thing. He said his electricity was
cut off for unpaid bills. Yo. We were there many

(09:03):
times and he couldn't contact his fans. He was like, Yo,
I was really stressed. I'm not going to lie. So
prayers up for Menzo, Prayers up for Fantasy Boys. Howe
everything gets better, and please buy their album, please support
and stream their music, please go to their tours. And
really there's like it's like it's like, you guys are all.

(09:24):
You guys are all we have. So thank you for
participating in the community. But speaking of these terrible, terrible conditions,
an Idle union, aim to protect the rights and welfare
of idols and entertainment workers, are set to launch later
this year. This huge deal, This is a huge, huge deal.

(09:47):
When I signed my contract in twenty I think it
was twenty nineteen, they already had kind of these rules
in place. They had like a government made template of
certain uh checkpoints that you would have to fulfill in
order to uh run your K pop company. And it's like, oh,

(10:11):
like if you can't like it's like certain things against
overworking your trainees. It's certain things again for like mental health,
like if I like really like needed it, I would
I am entitled to like a therapist and like mental
health facilities and all these things. And like they're already
making steps towards this with I guess this end goal

(10:31):
in mind, but there wasn't a lot of ways for
this to be enforced. Like I said, it's just two
dudes in a basement with like four teenage boys. It's
like okay, like like okay, buddy, you're tired. Goal like
tell the police, I guess, and it's like, okay, Well,

(10:51):
this year we take an even bigger step. We put
this problem kind of into the the the front the
front view window. No, what is it? What is it?
This year we placed this problem back into the front
of our minds, and we tell the world that Hey,

(11:15):
this is a problem in K pop and we are
taking steps to resolve it. We're taking steps to protect
our young children, We're taking steps to protect entertainment workers
and idols. And it's about your rights and it's about
us respecting you as humans rather than just being these

(11:35):
little dolls that we can take advantage of. Because you
guys have a dream and you guys are going to
do anything to follow this dream. So that's amazing. And
former Team Top member on Minsu is facing backlash for
leading this idle union. He has past controversies that kind

(11:56):
of contradict these such things, but I think people come
around and it's like any voice that's speaking for justice,
any voice that's speaking for just rights, I guess should
be valid and should be considered. And if he has
certain things that kind of contradict what the movement represents,

(12:20):
maybe he's not the best face for it, but we
appreciate his support and if his contradictions are pointed out
and he can respectfully talk about those contradictions as also
an addition to the conversation for welfare, for rights for
the union, then great and it moves the conversation forward.

(12:41):
So thank you for putting yourself in that position. And yeah,
I think the union is amazing. I think it's such
a beautiful thing to consider and put front facing and
to even have support of like real life. So this
is definitely another stuff forward and I'm I'm excited to

(13:04):
see where this goes. I love to be excited by things.
I was so excited by, for example, All Day Project.
Oh my gosh, I was so happy about All Day Project.
I wanted All Day Project to do so well. I
stood behind All Day Project. I remember being like fourteen

(13:28):
fifteen years old and watching Bailey Sock videos and I'm like,
this is this is where we are. I I this
is my dream. I wish that we could dance at
this level in K pop. I'm gonna go to Korea
to do it. And Bailey Sock herself came to Korea
and then and then they drop a teaser and then

(13:50):
and and Tarjan is wearing corn roll Okay, you know
maybe maybe you know, you know, like you know, when
you're like trying to give people like the benefit of
the doubt, You're like, no, no, no, no, this group is
this group is dope. You know, he's wearing corn rolls.
But but he's wearing it with love. Yeah. You know,
I can't say anything about it. You know, it's it's

(14:12):
not my it's not my thing to be angry about.
Like like so I'll ask. I'm like, Joe, hey, like
I asked my team, like we have a majority, like
our team is majority like African American. I'm like, hey,
what do you think about this Korean boy named Tarzan?
He's like, he's like, what's his name? I said Tarzan
and he goes, hmm, okay, tell me more. I go

(14:33):
he's wearing corn rolls and grills and shagging his pants
and like all these things. And they're like, oh, I
don't like that. And I'm like, okay, well, I I
can't say anything. And then he's on TV National TV
that's edited and broadcast and he says the N word

(14:57):
and I'm like oh, and I go back to my seat.
I'm like, what do you what do we think about this?
And they're like he did what. I'm like, oh no,
all day project, please please get up. I love you
guys so much. He gets so talented. Please. And he's
like using like emojis with like tans like that. He's
using the ninja emoji, which is like typically a stand

(15:20):
in for like Everrian Americans to say the word as
an emoji, and he's like using the ninja with like
tan skin, what are we doing? Please? Please? So ever
since that, I've been like so scared to like be like, yo,
I love this group on this podcast. I'm gonna do it.

(15:45):
I love Cortis. There we go, Courtis, don't let me down,
you guys. I listened to Fashion every day. I'm working
out to it. I'm playing basketball to it. I made
like a cap edit of me playing basketball to fashon
my Courtis. I'm like, wow, I haven't felt like this
in a while. This is great. And I was like, wait,

(16:08):
I have felt like this, and now I'm like walking
forward with fear. But it's okay, it's okay. I believe
in you. Courtis. You have my hope. You may not
have all of your shoes, but you have my hope,
my support, my dreams. But yeah, anyway, that's the little
landscape of K pop right now. There's like some other news.

(16:30):
I guess there's like like former two PM member, I
guess he's stow in two PM. Tek you On announces
his marriage to his longtime girlfriend whoa twice. Is Momo
recently purchased a luxury villa in Soul Deserved sold out
that tour eight on that tour. I love Momo Momo
is my bias. Please buy another ten luxury villas please,

(16:53):
you deserve it. BTS is also gearing up for their
twenty twenty six world tour with sixty five shows. Whoa
a lot of controversy kind of surrounding BTS right now,
but I feel like once they get performing, once they
get back into the groove, like everything will be good.

(17:15):
There's like kind of like an inactive tension where people
are just trying to like make as much story as possible,
trying to keep things active interesting is unfortunately that's the
way it manifest But BTS, like those sixty five shows
are going to sell out, you know why, because I'm there.
If BTS has no more fans, I am dead. So yeah,

(17:40):
that's kind of a the landscape right now. It's amazing
kind of like being here being able to deliver these news.
I love kpop, I love everything that K pop does
for the world, and being able to deliver these news
just means that there's always something happening, and we've received
a lot of kind of feedback that a lot of
parents to watch the show because they this is kind

(18:03):
of like their way to connect with their kids as
on their way to work. And to those people, shout
out to the parents, shout out to the people in
the car, shout out to people listening to this podcast
on the commute, just trying to like get in as
much information as possible and maybe have something to talk
about with your kids. So thank you for listening to

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
