Speaker 1 (00:07):
This podcast. Welcome to Meet Eater Trivia, the only game
show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart,
and today we're joined by Joannis Brody, Seth Roman, John Logan,
Max and Alex Placta. Alex, this is your first time
on the show. Tell folks what you do here at
me Theater. I work with Roman and social media. Okay,
(00:29):
and Brody just had a bone to pick with you
before we turned the mics on. Brody, what was the problem.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Oh well, it's like a like a nature documentary screw
up where he called a cam.
Speaker 1 (00:42):
And a gator and no one else noticed this. Alex?
Is that is that right? I have once called a
goat a billy when it was not a billy one. Oh,
people called you out on that, they did, but no
one called you out on the gator. Can Alex? What's
what's gonna be your strong suit and weakness in Meat
(01:04):
Eater Trivia? Nothing science specific, probably history related, if there's
any historical all right, how about regional wise? What would
you ask for sure? Okay? But like do you like
the north, the South, the west, a little bit of everything? Okay?
All right, we'll see how Alex does today, if you're
mad at stuff on social media, you're gonna be mad
(01:24):
at Roman and Alex. Now everyone knows, all right. This
is a ten round quiz show with questions from meat
Eater's four verticals, which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing
and for the state of the week. This week, we're
looking at the number of games in a row I've
(01:46):
gone without forgetting to do the correct answer review. If
you don't recall, I've started penalizing myself for when I
forget to do the correct answer review. After question nine,
the fine has been that I'll join a new conservation
group whenever that happens. And since implementing that system, I've
gone five games in a row without forgetting. Sometimes I
(02:07):
used to go five games in a row without remembering.
So we may have solved this problem. So you're just
donating less to conservation now, No, Well, when I remember
job better. But when I'm doing my job better, that's
right and giving the listeners a better experience. But when
I mess up, then conservation still wins. Because I'll join
a new conservation group.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
How many conservation groups are you part of?
Speaker 1 (02:28):
That was my sixth?
Speaker 3 (02:30):
Or just like in general six right now six.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
That I'm like currently in a one year membership of
I don't own any lifetime or three year memberships of anything.
So we'll see how long this goes on. I might
be a double digits though by the end of the year.
All right, here's our Infrequently Asked Questions segment. If you
have a trivia related question for our crew, send it
to Trivia at the Medeater dot com with the subject
line I FAQ. Nathan Powantski says, you've mentioned before how
(02:57):
you will tweak listeners submitted questions to word them better.
Do you ever have anyone write and pissed that you
messed with their question? It's happened one time, and it
was also somebody named Nathan. It happened earlier this year.
But he was very angry that I changed the wording
of his question. He wrote in demanding to know what
my process is and how I fact check things I
(03:18):
create the questions. He was upset, Oh, well, you gotta
tell us what it was. Well, I've already given a
lot It happened this year and his name was Nathan,
So there you know, there's probably one episode where that's happened. No,
like what the question it was about? Uh uh oh,
I said his last I'm not I'm not going to
say anymore. It was about a bird. It was about
(03:39):
a bird. He didn't like the phrasing that I chose
and the hints that I gave rather than his. So
it doesn't happen often, or if it does happen, folks
don't write me to to tell me that they're angry.
But it has happened once.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
But at the end of the end of the day,
they got to remember this is your show.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Oh wow, thank you, Max.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
Yeah, but we complained about his questions criticism.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
If more people are angry like that other Nathan, they
should write me and let me know. That'll that'll create
a better product, Max.
Speaker 5 (04:08):
Were the people that like answered the question angry about
the question?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
No, the room, I think about half of the room
got it right, but they didn't know what the alternate
version was. Maybe maybe they would have liked the listener
submitted version better. We'll never know. All right, there's no
housekeeping today, so we can get to the trivia, and
the Shelby index for this episode is a four.
Speaker 4 (04:30):
Correct.
Speaker 1 (04:31):
We'll find out about a half hour and with that
we're out of the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phill.
I need to know what I stand to win everything?
Speaker 3 (04:43):
Probably the three just tend to win everything.
Speaker 6 (04:53):
Demons.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
Question one. The topic is hunting, and this will be
multiple choice. Of these states, which has the lowest population
of mule deer? Is it North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, or Oklahoma?
Of these states, which has the lowest population of mule
(05:18):
deer North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas or Oklahoma? Quick answers? Not
for Max, though I grew up in one of these states.
Thinking of these states, which has the lowest population of
(05:40):
mule deer? North Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
I thought you were gonna throw them the sharpie?
Speaker 4 (05:49):
What do you got? Max?
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
have Yannis saying Olahoma, Logan Oklahoma, Seth Nebraska, Alex, Kansas,
John Oklahoma, Roman, North Dakota, Max, North Dakota, Brody Oklahoma.
(06:15):
The correct answer is Oklahoma.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
Damn it.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I think three or four of our players got that
one right, and we had every answer represented among the crew.
It's estimated that the mule deer population in Nebraska is
one hundred and thirty thousand, followed by fifty thousand in Kansas,
twenty thousand in North Dakota, and three thousand in Oklahoma.
Oklahoma's mulely heard is largely limited to the state's panhandle.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
Cal didn't Cal do a?
Speaker 6 (06:44):
He did do it?
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Did? It was awesome?
Speaker 6 (06:46):
That's why I knew the answer.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
Killed one of the only mule deer in that darn state.
Question two, the topic is fishing. This game show host
who said he owns four boats and eight lakes was
given the twenty twenty five American Sport Fishing Association Impact
Award Game show. This game show host who said he
(07:09):
owns four boats and eight lakes, who was given the
twenty twenty five American Sport Fishing Association Impact Award.
Speaker 3 (07:16):
Was this here?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
I did not get that. I wish the rest of
it was true.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
Though, game show?
Speaker 1 (07:24):
Is this game show on currently not giving any hints?
Seth quick to answer, Seth, do you know this one?
Or do you just know one game show host?
Speaker 7 (07:31):
I just know one game show host that likes to
fish a whole bunch.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Hey, there you go.
Speaker 3 (07:36):
That's probably Yeah, I'm pretty good.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
This game show host who said he owns four boats
and eight lakes was given the twenty twenty five American
Sport Fishing Association Impact Award. That just happened about a
week ago, and.
Speaker 8 (07:49):
I cast fresh news.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Can I just tell you what game show?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
No, we're gonna need a last name. Seth is the
only player who likes his answer. Seems like, Alex, do
you have this one right? Social media?
Speaker 8 (08:08):
Man?
Speaker 1 (08:09):
You you maybe saw this news?
Speaker 6 (08:10):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:11):
No, I educated guess Yoanni? Do you like your answer?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Game show?
Speaker 8 (08:16):
Game show?
Speaker 6 (08:18):
Game down? A game show? Hosts?
Speaker 1 (08:21):
You watch any game shows?
Speaker 6 (08:23):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:23):
No? Did you used to?
Speaker 6 (08:26):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (08:27):
When I was when I was a kid, and name
the game was come home after school?
Speaker 1 (08:32):
You know what game did you? What game show did
you watch?
Speaker 6 (08:35):
I think Prices right was?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
What about on sick days? Was that like universal that
even from your generation you'd watch Prices right on a
sick day? Oh?
Speaker 4 (08:44):
For sure?
Speaker 9 (08:45):
Until like it would you'd watch whatever you could, until
like all of a sudden it would turn into like
every every network would only be paying soap obviously and.
Speaker 6 (08:53):
Be like d go outside again.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
This game show host who said he owns four boats
and eight lakes. It's given the twenty twenty five American
Sport Fishing Association Impact Award. Is everybody ready?
Speaker 6 (09:08):
Is his name?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
Spencer Newhart?
Speaker 1 (09:09):
Again? I wish I had four boats in eight lakes?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Maxwell, Yeah, I can't think of his name, but.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Go ahead and reveal your answers, saying Rob Blood, Logan
says Drew Carrey, Seth, Steve Harvey, Alex Drew Carrey, John,
Steve Harvey, Roman, Steve Harvey, Max says family feud guy
would be anybody, says Pat say Jack, I think yeah.
(09:41):
The correct answer is Steve Harvey. What game shows he hosts?
Speaker 6 (09:47):
The family?
Speaker 7 (09:52):
Come on?
Speaker 1 (09:53):
Harvey learned a fish as a little boy in West Virginia.
He says it's his favorite hobby and that he once
spent six hours in a bass pro shopping for largemouth lures.
Harvey was given the Impact Award for the work his
charity does, which they say has quote introduced countless young
men and women to fishing.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Half a point.
Speaker 4 (10:12):
Good for him.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
Steve Harvey loves to fish. Question three, the topic is
natural history. This next great question is via Andrew Green.
This extinct elk, which is named after a country, had
the largest known antlers of any deer. This extinct elk,
which is named after a country, had the largest known
(10:35):
antlers of any deer. Rody and Yanni quick to answer,
Seth is now joining them, Seth, do you have this
one right?
Speaker 4 (10:47):
If I can go back on the time machine and
go hunt and this is what.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
I want to go.
Speaker 6 (10:50):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 9 (10:52):
Educated guess somebody I know is over there recently and
saw a set of these antlers on the wall.
Speaker 4 (10:59):
It was incredible.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
It was over the flavor texts.
Speaker 6 (11:05):
Boys.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
This extinct elk, which is named after a country, had
the largest known antlers of any deer.
Speaker 9 (11:21):
Although I have been editing my Lab episode, which I
solo film last year, and it came out extremely well.
Speaker 6 (11:27):
Delighted with how it came out.
Speaker 9 (11:30):
You're editing it not too much well part of the
edit process, you know, I've been doing. I did yesterday.
I worked on the translations, which is I always think
it's going to be really easy and it's a bitch.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
Do you have to consult your dad on that or you.
Speaker 9 (11:47):
There was one term that was used and I did
actually consulted three people and malts means like oftentimes you
you'll hear a parent talking to their kid after they've
done something very well, and they'll just say, mallatsis and
you're applying that to them.
Speaker 6 (12:06):
But I got varied answers.
Speaker 9 (12:07):
My mom was like, oh, it's very like like on
a spiritual level, like this sort of you know you've
done great. But then other people were just like, no,
it just means you excelled at your task.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
How is it said to you?
Speaker 9 (12:19):
Oh, no, it was, It wasn't said to me. Well,
in the video it was used. She was speaking to
her dog after he had found the pig I shot.
She said, gener question three natural history.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
This extinct elk, which is named after a country, had
the largest known antlers of any deer. Is everybody ready, Seth,
go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Yiannis saying Irish, Logan, African, Seth, Canadian, Alex,
Mongolian John without an answer, Roman, Scottish, cloeat New Zealand
(12:59):
Brody Irish. The correct answer is the Irish elk. Brody
and Yanni got that.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeahgan, I'll point out Africa is not a country.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
See I thought about that and last time I had
a similar geography issue. You pointed that out as well.
I did actually think about that. I was like, you know,
I know that this is not a country, but it's great.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
You just see if or just see if Brody's paying attention,
and he was. The antlers of the Irish elk could
span twelve feet. Most of them went extinct during the
Ice Age, but a small herd in Siberia evidently held
on for an extra four thousand years. Some Irish elk
fossils from the region have been dated to as recently
(13:42):
as seven thousand years ago. It's thought those holdouts eventually
died due to a warming climate and human hunting.
Speaker 5 (13:49):
Question four, Wait, hold up South Africa as a country
though right, yes, yes, so technically my answer was based.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
On question for the topic is AutoZone says the function
of this ten letter motor part is to quote mix
air and fuel in the proper ratio for combustion. Brody
already has his answer down. AutoZone says, the function of
(14:19):
this ten letter motor part is to mix air and
fuel in the proper ratio for combustion. Seth, You have
this right, I think so over there, I saw that,
but he goes cap on. So it's like he's microdo
saying markers not just freelining it.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Or you're smelling hands got it? Which is weird?
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Smells like blueberries.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
It's blue one definitely better.
Speaker 4 (14:48):
Actually, I'm pretty good. I think you're good.
Speaker 1 (14:50):
AutoZone says the function of this ten letter motor part
is to mix air and fuel in the proper ratio
for combustion. What he likes Max's answer the first one today.
Seth seems to like his answer, Yanni, do you like
your answer? Yes, ten letter motor part. It mixes air
(15:12):
and fuel in the proper ratio.
Speaker 6 (15:16):
Just spelling count As long as I have the right
amount of letters.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
We know what you're talking about should be close enough.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Did you count them?
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Ten?
Speaker 3 (15:25):
Right?
Speaker 4 (15:27):
Spell the letter?
Speaker 6 (15:31):
Yeah, there's a vowel there in the middle. It's tripping
me up.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Okay, there's a little hint. Yanni says, there's a vowel
in the middle.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
It's a word with a vowel.
Speaker 6 (15:40):
It's ten letters, I imagine.
Speaker 4 (15:42):
Yeah, did you play word?
Speaker 6 (15:45):
No, I've been off the world train.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
To clear your mind for this race coming up.
Speaker 9 (15:51):
Huh No, it's been much longer, just kind of I
got the same way with that I am with Instagram.
I just was like, you know, what, do I really
need to give wordle five to ten minutes of my
day every day?
Speaker 6 (16:01):
Nope?
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Alright, is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
We have Giannis saying carburetor, Logan says combustion, Seth carburetor,
Alex says injector, John carburetor, Roman carburetor, Max carburetor, Brody carburetor.
The correct answer is carburetor. You spell that C A R,
(16:27):
B U R et O R. Could anybody spell it
right out right and spelled it right? Signs that your
carburetor need replacing or maintenance include rough idling, poor acceleration,
and engine stalls. Although carburetors are still common in small engines,
(16:47):
they've been phased out of vehicles. The nineteen ninety Subaru
Justy was the last car sold in America with a carburetor.
Brody Seth, You boys ever work on carburetors on your boats?
Speaker 4 (16:59):
A little bit? I got runs like a dream.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
Yeah, they're a tough thing to work on.
Speaker 6 (17:04):
But I think they're fuel.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
And electric fuel injector?
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Is that right? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (17:10):
I never worked on them.
Speaker 7 (17:11):
On a boat, but other things.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Question five, The topic is cooking. This sushi role, which
is named after its colorful presentation, is made by placing salmon, tuna,
and yellowfin on top of a California role. Our sushi
eaters answering this question before I even finished it, But
(17:36):
we have three players who maybe don't like sushi as much. Roman.
Do you like sushi?
Speaker 4 (17:40):
I do?
Speaker 5 (17:41):
I was gonna mention that I saw there's a new
food born illness from another sushi restaurant here.
Speaker 1 (17:45):
Really, I saw we just got a new sushi place
in town as well.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Alex text me about that.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
What plays?
Speaker 3 (17:52):
I don't know if I should name names, but it's
not the one from a few years.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
Didn't make an use?
Speaker 10 (17:56):
Or was it just that angry Reddit post? Because I
saw the angry Reddit post.
Speaker 3 (17:59):
I think we are looking at the same circles.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Again. Question five. This sushi role, which is named for
its colorful presentation, is made by placing salmon, tuna and
the yellow fin on top of a California roll.
Speaker 4 (18:14):
Sounds delicious.
Speaker 6 (18:17):
I'd like to eat one of these right now.
Speaker 1 (18:18):
What do you think, Seth? Do you like sushi?
Speaker 6 (18:20):
I love sushi, okay.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
But I don't. I don't. I can't recall the name of.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
This John, do you have this one right?
Speaker 10 (18:26):
I don't think so. I have a sushi roll name down,
but I don't think it's it.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
Okay, this is question five, so we'll get a scoreboard
update from Fill the engineer after this is everybody ready,
go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Giannis and
Logan saying rainbow roll color Seth without an answer. Alex
Herber says rainbow John says dragon roll, Roman says party
(18:52):
roll it, Max and Brody say rainbow roll. They got it.
The correct answer is the rainbow rolle coming back. The
rainbow roll is filled with crab, avocado, and cucumber, then
topped with slices of different colored fish. Its base roll.
The California role was declared the number one most popular
sushi role in America by School of Sushi, while the
(19:15):
Rainbow roll was number six. All right, Phil, let's get
a scoreboard update.
Speaker 6 (19:21):
At halftime.
Speaker 10 (19:22):
Everyone's on the board. We've got Alex with one point,
Logan and Roman and Max and Seth have two points.
John has three and tied up in first place are
Yiannis and Brody with four feel.
Speaker 2 (19:33):
Like Giannis has been bringing it lately.
Speaker 4 (19:35):
Man, it's the hair chain.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
You might have to keep that now. Question six, The
topic is hunting. This man lost his job as Outdoor
Life's hunting editor in two thousand and seven after a
controversial article about ars.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (19:57):
I thought it's gonna be a different question.
Speaker 1 (19:59):
Brody quick to answer, Yanni joining him, the only two players.
Speaker 3 (20:05):
I thought so far.
Speaker 8 (20:06):
I thought it was gonna be the question about the
guy who like shot that mule deer and then someone
else shot it too.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
No, but that was more recent than that.
Speaker 6 (20:15):
I talked to this fella about squirrel hunting.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
That was actually I don't think you should be given
that someone might remember your conversation.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
M Oh, you think maybe this man lost his job
as Outdoor Life's hunting editor in two thousand and seven
after a controversial article about ars. I'm sad. Do you
have this one right?
Speaker 6 (20:37):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (20:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
I think I recall something about this in this guy,
but I don't.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
Brody, do you remember when this happened?
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (20:45):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Yeah, okay, how about you Yan big hub Ub Yeah,
fifteen years ago. Longer than that. What did he say?
I will tell you in the flavor text This man
lost his job as Outdoor Life's hunting editor in two
thousand and seven after he traversial article about ars to
where other players give up. Go ahead and reveal your answers.
(21:08):
We have Yanni saying Jim Zumbo Logan without an answer,
Seth says Jim Sumbo, Alex and John without an answer.
Roman says Shell Silverstein, Max says tread Barda, and Brody
says Jim Zumbo. The correct answer is Jim Zumbo. In
(21:28):
Zumbo's article, he said, quote, excuse me. Maybe I'm a traditionalist,
but I see no place for these weapons among our fraternity.
I'll go as far as to call them terrorist rifles.
I say game departments should ban them from the prairies
and woods. The fallout caused Zumbo to lose his job
and receive death threats. He later apologized in a forum
post on Ted Nugent's website, saying he was ignorant about
(21:50):
black rifles and planned to do an AR fifteen hunt
with the Nuge.
Speaker 10 (21:55):
Are you giving that one to Seth? I didn't see
what Seth had it right? Oh okay, I heard you
say an Max?
Speaker 1 (22:02):
Are you related to tread Barda. I never considered that
you guys had the same last.
Speaker 8 (22:06):
Name, no no relation as a as honest.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
And I used to.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
He was around our outfitters, and I imagine you have
not real favorable things to say about him.
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Is that I'm not going to okay.
Speaker 8 (22:22):
I grew up watching them on it was the Outdoor
channel was Versus. Yeah, that was my favorite hunting show
growing up.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Mine was on the Versus channel. Benny spots.
Speaker 6 (22:35):
Question seven.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
The topic is fishing. This is our listener question of
the week, which was won by Mitch Goks for sending
this great question. Mitch is going to get a board
game signed by the crew. If you want a chance
to win a listener question of the Week, then send
your question to Trivia at the Meat Eater dot com.
What kind of whale is moby Dick? What kind of
(22:57):
whale is Moby Dick? Kah Brody quick to answer, Nanny's
jaw hit the floor. He doesn't like this one. What
kind of whale is moby Dick? I just saw my
wh the beach, Max, You're on fire, all right?
Speaker 6 (23:17):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Brody was shocked that Max had the answers the first time.
What kind of whale?
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Give it away?
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Yanni who I believe is tied for the lead has
a blank white board. You got right stuck between two
options with my kind of whale is Moby Dick? Be honest?
Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
(23:51):
have Yanni's saying come back logan white whale, Seth sperm whale,
ALEX blue whale, John sperm whale. Roman and Max and
Brody say sperm whale. They got it. The correct answer
is a spur whale.
Speaker 3 (24:08):
This was on fire.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
They're doing good. More specifically, Moby Dick was a white
bull sperm whale. Although most think of the whale as
in albino, Herman Melville writes that it has two prominent
white areas and that the rest of the body has
splotches of white and gray. Therefore, moby Dick was lucistic
or piebald, not albino. Question eight the topic is biology.
(24:31):
This next great question is via Tim Allen, Phil can
you give us a little Tim Allen sounder over there? Okay,
very good. This eight letter word is defined as quote
a grooming behavior where birds use their beaks to clean, realign,
and maintain their feathers. Eight letters. We have not had
(24:57):
this question. His question height. We'll get a scoreboard up
day in after this. This eight letter word is defined
as a grooming behavior where birds use their beaks to clean, realign,
and maintain their feathers.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
That's what they do.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Okay, thank you. Max. At the demonstration, Max, do you
have this one right?
Speaker 3 (25:22):
I sure hope?
Speaker 1 (25:23):
So?
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Okay, I really hope.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
So here is.
Speaker 7 (25:25):
Kind of a bird guy in this room.
Speaker 10 (25:31):
Very good, sound like Tim Allen?
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
have Jannis saying preening, Logan says primping, Seth preening, Alex cleaning,
John and Roman without an answer. Max says preening, Brody preening.
The correct answer is preening. It's p r E E
(25:57):
N I n G. The Nash in a Wild Turkey
Federation says that preening is such a significant part of
a take of a turkey's daily routine that it's second
in time only to feeding. For gobblers. This behavior can
include dusting and sunning. Preening creates stronger feathers, reduces parasites,
and makes males more attractive to hens. All right, Phil,
(26:19):
give us a scoreboard update.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
In the Duck World. It helps with waterproofness.
Speaker 10 (26:27):
After question eight, Alex Logan, Roman, John, and Max are
not have not accumulated enough points to win the game.
I got four and a half, Phil, but Jannis has
or Seth has five, Yannis has six, and Brodie is
in first place with seven points.
Speaker 1 (26:45):
Max pointed out that waterproofing is one of the duck purposes.
They also say that for turkeys, but I don't think
if turkeys as being very waterproof, so I didn't include that.
But it's basically spreading their oils from one specific glands
preen Yeah, ducks got a on their button that secretes
oil part of their preening process. Question nine, the topic
(27:05):
is conservation. The National Park Service said they saw an
increase of young visitors in twenty sixteen thanks to the
release of this augmented reality mobile game.
Speaker 6 (27:19):
What is the augmented reality mobile game?
Speaker 1 (27:22):
Bill can explain it to you? After this The National
Park Service said they saw an increase of young visitors
in twenty sixteen thanks to the release of this augmented
reality mobile game. Brody currently in the lead. Phil.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Did you come up with this question?
Speaker 10 (27:43):
No, but I'm very grateful it's concerted.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
Phil will get to talk about augmented reality after this.
Speaker 6 (27:49):
I bet they played on a switch, don't they.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I don't know. You find out I think so in
the flavor text. Okay, so again in SETH, don't agree, Alex,
do you have this one right? Confidence? Okay?
Speaker 6 (28:05):
John?
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Do you have this one right?
Speaker 10 (28:07):
I don't think so.
Speaker 8 (28:07):
Okay, I'm trying to figure out how my answers deals
with the National Parks.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
The National Park Service said they saw an increase of
young visitors in twenty sixteen thanks to the release of
this augmented reality mobile game. And Brody and Yanni have
blank whiteboards.
Speaker 7 (28:28):
This would be a time to get ahead if.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Only again this question nine will just be the time
to catch up board after this, Yanni, how we doing.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
Not great?
Speaker 1 (28:44):
Brody? How we doing even worse?
Speaker 5 (28:47):
Okay, a man with hair should know the answer is.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
The National Park Service said they saw an increase of
young visitors in twenty sixteen thanks to the release of
this augmented reality mobile game. Phil, have you played this game?
This will be the room's one hint is Phil played
this game?
Speaker 7 (29:05):
I have played this Okay, he has.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Played this game. There you go, played a lot of games.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
So Phil, you like it.
Speaker 10 (29:13):
It's possible. I just played this game thirty seconds ago.
Okay for this question, okay, perfect?
Speaker 8 (29:20):
Can I see your recent apps?
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Brody and Yanni are stumped. The National Park Service said
they saw an increase of young visitors in twenty sixteen
thanks to the release of this augmented reality mobile game.
I'm trying to think about, Brody, Yanni, do you give up?
Speaker 6 (29:39):
I do? I'm trying to think of a name of
a video game.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Maybe Yes will get it and make the game a
little more interesting.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
Yanni, do you give up? Phil was just playing it
a minute ago.
Speaker 6 (29:55):
I think this is a game.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Okay, go ahead and reveal your answers. We have Yianna
saying Fortnite. Oh says Pokemon Go. Seth says Fortnite, Alex POKEMONO, John,
Pokemon Go, Roman, Clash of the Clans, Max, Clash of
the Clans. Brody without an answer. The correct answer is
(30:17):
Pokemon Go. The never get that right.
Speaker 6 (30:22):
I don't know what a carburetor is.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Courageous players to go outside to visit pokey stops, which
are typically landmarks such as historic plaques, museums, hiking trails,
and statues. This makes National Parks and national monuments a
hot spot for trainers. The youth traffic got so overwhelming
in twenty sixteen that rangers started leading guided Pokemon tours
across historic sites. A spokeswoman for the NPS said that
(30:51):
summer quote, this is an age group we love to
have in the parks. All right, Philip, explain POKEMONO and
augmented reality.
Speaker 10 (31:00):
I just caught a magnamite, is okay?
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Perfect?
Speaker 10 (31:06):
Augmented reality is different than virtual reality. And then augmented
reality uses like a video feed of something like like
an actual camera feed and then overlays images into it
to look like it's a part of the actual world.
So Pokemon go uses GPS and actual mapping, so you
can walk around your town and like Spencer said, landmarks
are poke stops, or you can like collect items and
(31:27):
there are gyms, or you can battle other book. I
just found out a minute ago that the pond behind
our office as a poke stops.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Like in an augmented reality, there could be a Pikachu
sitting on Yanni's shoulder, right now. That's that's how the.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
The Is there anything in this?
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Yeah? Yeah, there is.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Actually uh here's the correct answer. Review so far one
was Oklahoma two, Steve Harvey three, Irish Elk four, Carburetor five,
Rainbow Roll six, Jim Zumbo seven, sperm eight, Preening nine
POKEMONO Phil. Let's get a scoreboard update for question ten?
Speaker 3 (32:06):
Should have six right right.
Speaker 10 (32:07):
Now, we've got Yiannis with six points and Brody with
seven points.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Question ten the topic is woodsmanship and this next great
question is via Eric Winrich. The Old Farmer's Almanac calls
the blank Bear caterpillar miniature meteorologists because of their reputation
for predicting winter weather. Brody had his answer before I
finished the question. It seems as though he's wrapped up
(32:36):
the victory with eight correct answers. The Old Farmer's Almanac
calls the blank Bear caterpillar quote miniature meteorologists because of
their reputation for predicting winter weather.
Speaker 6 (32:51):
Seth.
Speaker 7 (32:51):
Do you have this one right? I think so, believing
we call him something different.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
M Yanni. Do you have this one right? No? The
blank bear caterpillar and they are miniature meteorologists. Brody, were
you familiar with this bit of lore?
Speaker 4 (33:08):
Yeah? If I remember right, I'll explain more.
Speaker 1 (33:11):
Great Max. Do you have this one thing? No, Blank
Bear caterpillar.
Speaker 3 (33:19):
But I'm trying trying to my old.
Speaker 1 (33:21):
Farmer's Almanac calls them miniature meteorologists because of their reputation
for predicting winter weather. Is everybody ready, Okay, I'm getting
Give Logan one more second, go ahead and reveal your answers.
We have Giannas saying black. Logan says black, Seth, Wooly,
(33:45):
Alex Brown, John without an answer, Roman, polar Max, Fuzzy, Brody, Wooly.
The correct answer is the wooly bear caterpillar, making Brody
our winner with eight correct answers.
Speaker 6 (34:02):
Wasn't it a.
Speaker 4 (34:04):
The weather thing?
Speaker 2 (34:05):
Like predicting had something to do with their color pattern?
Speaker 1 (34:08):
Wooly bear caterpillars turn into tiger moths as larva. They
are two colors. The Farmer's Almanac lore says that if
there's more black then it will be a bad winter,
and if there's more brown then it will be a
mild winter. But Noah says this is just a myth,
and that woolybear color is based on diet and age.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
We call them wooly buggers.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Wooly buggers have heard the fishing flying card of the flybugger,
but never heard the caterpillar called a wooly bugger wooly
bear caterpillar. All right, Brody, what are you gonna do
with the five hundred dollars today?
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Sage grouse were recently declared extinct in the state of
North Dakota.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Max shed a tear over then.
Speaker 2 (34:49):
Real bummer, So we're gonna donate it to the sage
Grouse Initiative.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Okay, five hundred dollars going their way via Brody and
Meat or Brody nailed the Shelby Index today, correct answer.

only game show conservation always wins. Yes, Spencer from South Dakota.
He's the host, using those smooth.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
He lays them questions down. He likes taking those two
and three year old bucks.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
It is an avid amateur
