Speaker 1 (00:14):
I genuinely did not know this was your first time
on the podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Yeah yeah, I mean you guys have been doing this
for a minute now.

Speaker 3 (00:26):
Right for a minute.

Speaker 4 (00:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
We're about halfway through the series. And I don't know why.

Speaker 1 (00:31):
I think because I was like, Oh, there's like the
whole Coach season, and in my brain I was like, oh,
I guess that's that's when we're gonna like have Damon
on a bunch would be great, And then it's the
Prince episode. I'm like, there's no one better to do
the Prince episode than with Damon and Joel our producers,
like it's Damon's first time.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I was like, Prince would have been better to do
it than Damon. So I said Prince would have been
a better choice.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
First, that's terrible.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
I wonder if you would have done it. I bet
you with you.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Just get it out there, damn it. What do you
mean by that?

Speaker 2 (01:13):
You're not going to expound.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
In this episode, Jess and CC get invited to a
party being thrown by Doune dun Dune Prince. That's right, folks,
we are reviewing the Prince episode. And here's the thing.
After Nick awkwardly and for the first time tells Jess
he loves her as she's leaving, and she gives him
the good old finger guns. The boys must sneak into

(01:40):
the party so Nick can take back that I love you. Rational,
Very Rational. Directed by Fred Goss, Written by David Foeni
and Rob Roselle.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Imagine that no pressure.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Man, Could you just write an episode for Prince that's
gonna air after the super Bowl?

Speaker 4 (02:00):
That's crazy?

Speaker 3 (02:01):
Did you direct it? I'd be like, I don't think
I can. I don't feel well.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
That's so much pressure, such a good episode.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
You know what's crazy is I dug up I sent
it to you guys.

Speaker 1 (02:14):
I dug up the table draft, production draft, and then
there was a billion other versions, you know, like all
the different the pages that were added, and here's what's crazy.
And then I read it and like kind of like
watched along very little changes. It was almost ninety nine
percent word perfect, which, as we have gone and recapped

(02:36):
the series, that doesn't happen very often. Usually there's a
big jump between table and production draft and then the
jokes that end up on the screen because there was
so much improv and all those moments. But I think
there was so much pressure, which surprised me. I thought
there'd be so much difference, but there was so much
pressure I think on this episode that every single word

(02:56):
had to be approved, had to be looked at ten
thousand times, and had to be said as is because
of all the eyeballs and all the money that was
spent on this episode.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Is it true that they had to and this is
what I heard that Prince had to approve the scripts.
So I knew he had to approve wardrobe, and he
had to approve the set design and all that stuff.
But the script do you think he had anything to
do with it? Because I because I'm assuming that they
had at some point written him, like with ass List
chaps on and he was like either yay or nay.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
You know what I mean, you know what's true.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
Actually the things that changed were what or not what
Prince said, but how he said them. Those were the
things that changed. So like when he does we'll get
to all this. But when he does, like the the
Jess makeover in all the script versions, it's like hip
tip number one, hip tip number two, and then that's

(03:52):
not in the show. He just would give her the advice.
I think he's like, it's not hip to say hip tip,
I'm not doing it.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
I wouldn't say that exactly.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
They were just like he was like, no.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
There was another moment they had written where Prince was
supposed to walk in, and that's when they're sitting on
the bench and this the first time they see him
and Nick and Jess, and he was supposed to say
something like, oh, hey, can you guys everybody's throwing in
five bucks for the keg. And then he's like, just kidding,
I'm rich, I'm Prince. Everything's free.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
And then he would.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Did that like, oh, I didn't give you a moment
just to you know, scream or whatever to freak out
and so and then that changed. I think he was like,
I'm not going to come out and joke about asking
people for money. So I think he probably made some tweaks,
but the rest of us and the words we said
were pretty much verbatim, except for and this launches us

(04:48):
right into the episode. Is right at the beginning when
you guys are watching the football game and Max keeps
grabbing Jake's leg and then you hear Jaco like, stop man,
stop every single time we cheer, stop touching my leggs.
And then you hear him off camera go like you go,
like seriously stop and then they cut back and out

(05:09):
of nowhere. Damon, you just reach over and grab Jake's
leg and he gives you a look and slaps your
hand off.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
That's the only part that wasn't in the script.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
That's the only part of the whole episode that was improvised,
was just messing with Jake and annoying him and touching
him when he says, please don't touch my.

Speaker 5 (05:30):
Body's definitely Max initiated that for sure.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
Yeah, I feel like you had the most fun on
this show doing stuff like that as opposed to just
reading the dialogue.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
Yes, yes, I mean, to this day, I find it
hard to like, even if it's really good dialogue, I
just my mind wants to say something else all the time. Yeah,
unless it moves the actual story, I'm probably going.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
To say something that's like in the air of it,
but not really.

Speaker 4 (06:01):
You've kind of hard to do on your show now
because it's multiicam or Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
I mean I do it, you know, I've grown to
be able to do it.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
But before it was just like like is it a
d D?

Speaker 2 (06:13):
I don't know what the hell it was.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
Can I tell you what I think it is. I
think you just really like making people laugh and you
can't help it. And so I think you just like
to make people laugh, because there's like that infamous story
a new girl of work. For no reason, you're off camera,
you just turned around and showed everybody your ass.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Oh it was literally I was in front of a
couple of people, but behind out, so I don't.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Think the ladies could see it. No, and I think
Max well behind or is it Lamar. I don't know
who was.

Speaker 6 (06:46):
Behind me behind me, I mean for no reasons. It
was just to make though, to see if they could
get through the scene.

Speaker 3 (06:57):
But they did it.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
I have flex my butt a little bit like they
saw that.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah they didn't.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
I think you just love making people laugh, and we
all know it's on the page.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
I think that's what I think that's part of the genius.
That's part of the genius. People don't think that in
that way, and by you thinking in that way, that's
why you're so successful.

Speaker 3 (07:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
And also I think you might think that you're better
than all the writers.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
It depends.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
It depends, yeah sometimes sometimes, but then sometimes like it
will be unnecessary for me to improvise, like I'm like,
this is a good joke, and then I still try
and say something.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Oh, I will say that about this episode. It's funny,
I said.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
The only part that I could see that was fully
improvised and was so funny is the Max repeatedly touching Jake.
Like that's the opening of the whole Prince episode much
by the way, they kept that improv in. But the
other part is still part of that opening scene, which
is how to print it once The word panties is
not in any script.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Now.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Look, it could have been walked in as like an
altar from the writers or something, but it feels like
something that would have just naturally happened with you guys
of like, wait, how did you say it?

Speaker 3 (08:13):
Say it again?

Speaker 4 (08:13):
That's how he goes black people say off the panties.

Speaker 1 (08:26):
Because you see Jake smirk in it, because you know
how he's gonna he can't do it, no matter how
he's gonna try.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
I had this moment happened to me literally two weeks
ago in I was in Cobo with some friends, right,
and you guys know Cord Chord over Street, Right, So Cord'
is on Glee and he we're all sitting where we
all have rented this house together in Mexico, and he's
his girlfriend's there and I want to go do laundry,

(08:52):
right and they're out, and so I go to take
the there's clothes in the dryer because now it's time
to drive my clothes, and they're closing the dryer and uh,
and they're just sitting there and I go to I
go to grab them because I see his like stuff,
so I know they're his, but in there are panties,
and so I like put him back down and I

(09:13):
had to go and like call him and say, hey, Cort, listen,
there's your girls like underwear are in the dryer. And
he's like, dude, it's fine, you can take them out.
I was like, yeah, I'm trying to get him, so
I don't touch him, you know what I mean. He's like,
if you're gonna make it awkward. Then I was like, nah, okay,
I don't know why. I was like this is all right.

(09:35):
So I just lay him gently on their bed and
I didn't like organize them because what would have been
like like if this was like my boy's clothes, I
would have like separated him for him and set him down.
I would have just threw him in a bunch, but
because that's so sweet.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
By the way, it's like you and placed him on the.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Which is more perverted. Now.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
It's like, oh man.

Speaker 1 (10:06):
It's funny to me that in this whole Prince episode
that clip of like what do you do when you're
with your you know, a guy friend and their girlfriend's
panties are in the dryer. I guess it's a big
roommate life out there in the world, and so this
is like a real situation and that clip is like viral,
it goes everywhere, which I didn't realize about. Like the

(10:27):
only thing to do now is to get a stick
all together all together, so you're not alone being weird
with the panties, and we're just gonna get about.

Speaker 4 (10:38):
Which is which is so weird. I'm like, why didn't
Nick just go and get them himself. I don't, Well, yeah,
he takes them things off all the time, you know
what I'm saying. They clean.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
That was also like the button of that scene is
when Jess goes, those aren't my panties.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
It's the worst.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
Even then, we don't know, we don't know. Now, let's
fast forward a little bit. We're holding the panties that
you guys come in and you say, you remember early.

Speaker 5 (11:16):
On Instagram when they did the face swap of us
holding the panties.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
Yes, it was so strange.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Max's face on my face. They had it was your face.

Speaker 5 (11:29):
They s everybody's faces and it looked really strange.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
But it cracked me up.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
All right, you know what's weird?

Speaker 4 (11:35):
And I remember that photo. I remember that photo more
than I remember the OG photo.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Nothing.

Speaker 1 (11:45):
I felt like, like messed with your head more of
thinking that You're like, I'm a pretty attractive person.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
I felt good about me until face swap came.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
Along and you're like, oh god, this does not work
unless everything is exactly as it is on my body.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
You look terrible as Mike dr makes you really ugly.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Are yeah?

Speaker 2 (12:07):
You walk in you're like.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Adr Sometimes I was like are they mad at me?
Because like I would walk in.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
I was like, that's really you can't go back like
one half a second.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Cool, Thanks so much, I'm gonna give it my all.

Speaker 2 (12:22):
You guys.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Okay, So we realized that the girls have been invited
to a Prince party, which is which is mind blowing.
You don't just I mean, unless you're a celebrity, like
people people in the in the Hollywood circles would always
have these stories about going to a prince party like
a big jam session or something like that. But it's
happening to two regular old folks.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
What's interesting, there was a mit you know, when he
comes in, he's like, darely but love it, and he
does this whole thing.

Speaker 3 (13:03):
There's a whole chunk of that that.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Was dropped where he talks about making it and he's
like everybody has their moment like going to a princes
party or and then there's like a.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
P Diddy thing where he's like, oh, you get to go.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
To and it and it dropped. It was in every
version of the script. It didn't make the show, and
I was like, Oh, they were ahead of their time
knowing to not have that in this episode.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
No, but you know what that says to me. It
says to me because Rob Rozil wrote it. That means
Rob Rozil he knew about the ditty party, he knew
about the freak offs.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
Somebody knew something.

Speaker 1 (13:37):
Because all of a sudden it was not there.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Why did you drop that joke?

Speaker 4 (13:49):
He's like, oh, I can't. I can't, I can't, I
can't tell them me and Liz.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Mind you, there was a lot drop. There was a
ton of stuff that was in the loft that happened.
There was a whole I'm trying, It was a whole
thing where they had you guys had to convince Nick
to go, which I'm sure we shot, but there was
a whole thing where Nick's like, I don't want to go.
I don't want to go. I don't want to go
to this party. You can't we go to the party.
I won't go. And then you're like, and then Winston's like,

(14:16):
just call her if it got weird, just call her.
And then you guys slap the phone out of his
hand because you're trying to all go to the Prince party,
and it just cuts it hard, cuts to like, you
guys are in the car being there.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
There was a whole scene.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
The interesting thing about the car being there. Do you
remember the damon Do you remember the argument that it
was like a bit of a disagreement between them in
video village telling us what to say, because out of
the blue, it almost felt like we had to do
this Ford commercial.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Yeah, it wasn't out of the Blue.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
It was a legit Ford commercial and then they were
telling just like the lines that we're supposed to and
they were just like, it almost had nothing.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
To do with the show. Yeah, it was an overt commercial.
It was just like yeah, and then you can tell
us until we were in the car going we're gonna be.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
I remember that, and I remember Jake was like not
having it.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
No.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
Jake was like, well hold on, like if I got
to do this for are we.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Getting paid for this?

Speaker 1 (15:16):
Say, well, there's that mileage thing about getting turned on
my mileage, right, that was like part of it. And
that was another little improv moment I think where it
was They're like.

Speaker 3 (15:27):
Well when did it happen?

Speaker 1 (15:29):
And then because I think you guys didn't want to
talk about mileage, so then you guys just went in
with a joke and then you were like, I don't know,
I remember it was a thirst day.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
Yeah, I definitely remember that Ford was a I remember
like I had we had or Schmid had a car
he called the FOS or something like that, the Ford Escape.
It was like all kinds. It was all kinds of
forward references on this show.

Speaker 1 (15:51):
Just and CC did the Big Model one where Jess
had to was like CC so hungover and so Jess
gets like goes to the car show. That's the modeling
job CEC. We did a bunch of Ford paid for
a lot of new girls, and this was a very
expensive episode, so they wanted a full blown commercial placed
in the middle of it, and that was on you
guys that day.

Speaker 5 (16:10):
Do we know me how on average how expensive were
new episodes two mil?

Speaker 3 (16:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
I think a little, I think a little less, but
I know the Prince episode was on the most expensive
for sure, and it was over two It was over
two million, but I think it was a little bit
less than two million. We had a I mean, there's
so many extras, there's so I mean, I'm sureations and
all that kind of yeah, and Zoe and you know,
like all.

Speaker 1 (16:34):
There's so many people that were so expensive.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
Why do I Prince one? Do our prints wanted?

Speaker 4 (16:41):
But I remember there was a week can we talk
about it.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
We're gonna get there, you guys, We're gonna get to
the story. We're gonna get to the story or get there.

Speaker 4 (16:57):
There was this moment where Nick and I we did
a flashback to us in high school doing a prince,
like dressed up like prince and performing. I don't know
what it was. I think I talked about this on
the podcast before. I don't know what it was. I
was so depressed during that that moment. I was depressed
for a little bit, but it was like random, and
I didn't understand why I was, and I just remember going, oh,

(17:20):
this is a funny bit. This is gonna be so
stupid and silly. But I couldn't get through it. Usually
I can't get through moments like one on one, whether
it's you know, me or Jake or something like that,
because he's always improvising and I can't get through it
because I'm laughing too much. This one was weird. I
couldn't get through it because I was so sad, and
I don't I don't know why. It was a very

(17:45):
ding this episode. I remember that it was that episode,
but that day in particular was strange because it was
like I remember reading it and laughing, going like this
is gonna be funny, and then doing it and not
think giving a shit about being there at all. It
get me the fuck out of here.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Man, Yeah, there was I remember there was so much
pressure on this episode because I'll never forget, like how
many billions of dresses they had me try on to
get to that gold dress, right, And they had this
whole palette going of all the different colors. It was
so much like the the leather jacket when we come
and we're like, it's going to our prints party, I
had to wear. There's nine thousand leather jackets they went through,

(18:28):
Like there was so much pressure on every single detail.

Speaker 3 (18:31):
It makes sense that you would just kind.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Of feel like this, it's fun, but everybody's looking.

Speaker 2 (18:37):
Of course.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
Do you think that Prince had anything to do with
your outfits?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Not my outfits? No, I did anything to do with
my outfits.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
Do you know he dresses his ladies.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
I've heard that. I've heard that.

Speaker 2 (18:54):
Nothing to do alka.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
No, he had a lot to do with I think
there was a big conversation of when he gets to
dress Zoe, like when he got to dress Jess. He
was very involved, I think with all of those clothes
in that selection, because it was going to be a
reflection of what Prince would dress her in.

Speaker 3 (19:11):
I think that was like a big thing.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
I will tell you something really funny is that, And
I can get into the story later. But Prince and
I ended up becoming very good friends, really really good friends.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
And he saw the.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Promo ad, the promo ad where you and Jake are
dressed up in that flashback that was like, you know,
one of the big ads.

Speaker 3 (19:36):
It was like the Prince episode.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
And Jake, and he sent me an email and he
just said, how come Jake looks like my aunt Helen?

Speaker 2 (19:50):
Which really made me.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
I was rereading all the emails Prince sent me over
there over the years, and that was one of the emails.
He's so oh funny because it's obviously Jake is supposed
to look like him, and he's like, why does Jake
look like my aunt Helen?

Speaker 3 (20:06):
I don't know if he has an ant Helen, if.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
He was just trying to be funny, but man, it
made me laugh last night when I when I saw
that email.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Hannah, is it true that his emails looked like a
ransom note?

Speaker 5 (20:18):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (20:19):
Different fonts and colors, Yeah, some of them did. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (20:22):
Yeah, we were basically pen pals for years. We met
in that December twenty thirteen, and he passed in two
thousand and sixteen, and then yeah, we just like we
wrote to each other for years and some of the
funniest stuff. But that was one of the funniest the emails.
Can you imagine getting dressed up like Prince and thinking like, yeah,

(20:45):
I think I've nailed it. This is gonna be great
for the show, and Prince himself ways in and it's
like you just look like crazy.

Speaker 3 (20:50):
Auntie Kenna.

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Would you let your husband read those emails without you
going in the room.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
We became friends. We became really good friends. I love friends.

Speaker 4 (21:01):
Ike eating kidding, I kidding. Okay, let's let's let's dive
back in hand and where are we at?

Speaker 3 (21:10):
You guys are in the car commercial?

Speaker 4 (21:12):
Okay, we're done with the car commercial. So we're back.
So we're now, we're we're now, We're now inside the party. Right,
here's my favorite outside the party. Here's one of my
favorite moments. Because it wasn't all the time that they
let us do bits together Damon and I, because then
they would have had to air this episode on BET.
We don't have a deal with BT. You can't get

(21:33):
you can't have these two dudes and scenes together all
the camp and so they so we're doing the fire
and ice thing, the fire and ice thing. I forgot
about what our backstory was with the fire and ice thing.
But you remember when you and I go up and
we start acting like we're all war war war buddies.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
He didn't.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
I thought about that, and I was like, Yo, that
would work, that would work, man.

Speaker 5 (22:03):
That I feel like we didn't even really practice that.
I feel like we just did it on the day.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Right, Yeah, warm water all that.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
It just felt like, I don't know, it felt like.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
The fire and ice thing, the warm water thing was scripted,
but the but the fire and ice exchange was really
supposed to be about you were surrounded by Somali pirates
and then had to swim for mile.

Speaker 3 (22:29):
Yeah, the real.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Scripted version of this was very no one named Freddy.
None of that happened was not scripted. Again, I don't
know if that was a walked in story or you
guys just came up with that story, because that's not
what was in the script.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
I think we came up with that because Freddy is
always his name that I go to it, Freddy, Freddy
always ready.

Speaker 5 (22:54):
But like every time I go would do stand up,
like people always talk about fire and ice.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
Yeah, I I so I do stand up.

Speaker 5 (23:03):
This show so damn famous I always I forgot. I
think I told them more in this that I always
have to start off my shows with like ten minutes
of just New Real Q and as essentially yeah yeah,
and I talk about like my relationships.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
With all you guys and.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
And it's it's it's fun, but it gets everything out
so I can just do my show.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
People people will be yelling stuff out and.

Speaker 5 (23:27):
Oh wow, yeah, so it's uh, it's really interesting, it's
really fun, but but.

Speaker 2 (23:32):
It is it's annoying. People keep discovering the show.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
You know, you have like like every time I think
my crowd is going to age with me, I have
like a whole new, you know, group of youngsters coming in.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
I'm thankful for.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
But it's yeah, yeah, I feel that keeps on giving. Yeah,
the show that keeps on giving.

Speaker 1 (23:59):
When Nick and uh Schmidt tried to do ham and Cheese,
I don't know if I have laughed that hard in
a long time.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
The commitment that that Jake has to the bit and.

Speaker 6 (24:14):
The and.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
And watching and watching Max not go big at all,
just get so like.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
This is funny.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
He clearly doesn't know what we're doing.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
He doesn't understand anything.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
It's fine, just gets so sad that he didn't prep
his boy enough as opposed to angry is the funniest
way to play that scene.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
It made me laugh so hard. You don't know what
we're doing. You just don't know what we're doing.

Speaker 4 (24:43):
I love that he said that he blamed. He goes
this man put my mom in prison in the desert.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
It's so stupid cheese.

Speaker 4 (24:58):
Oh my gosh. I love the the trojan horse situation
when he gets in that that right, there is something
I've definitely done before. Oh yeah, you show up to
a party and now you this is back on those
club days when you like really wanted to go to
a club and get a table and do that, you know,
and you didn't know the bouncer or you didn't know
the promoter or whatever, and you got.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
To can't relate to these stories. You guys talk.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
Among You and Kanye, we get it. You and Baron Davis,
you and Prince we know Hannah, all.

Speaker 3 (25:30):
My friend zoned friends keep going, Uh, that's such a
nice friend.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
You never got me and you never got had only
take me to like dive bars.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Hannah, Wait, you're you're friends with Baron?

Speaker 3 (25:43):
Mm hm?

Speaker 2 (25:44):
Oh cool?

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Hi, I went to Crossroads. I didn't know the Baron
went to Crossroads was.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
The nicest school. But that's what I would do. I
would wait, wait till a group of girls are going in,
and I would go, I'm buying a table. Then we
go okay, cool, and I'm like yeah with me, like okay,
and then we'll all just like roll in together. And
then I would peace out, go to the bar by
one drink for myself, go home alone. Hit it right.

(26:14):
All right, let's go to a quick commercial break. And
when we come back, Hannah is going to not tell
us about the bear and we are black. Uh here,

(26:39):
what did you say?

Speaker 2 (26:40):
You say?

Speaker 4 (26:44):
He said we are back? We are back? I mean
we are I mean yes, But I didn't not Hannah,
though you know you are by proxy, Hanna. A lot
of black friends, both of us.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
Right here.

Speaker 4 (27:02):
So we're on the topic of the I love you
and your partner not saying I love you back, right.
Nick does that in the beginning, and now it's all awkward.
Now it's all weird. Goes to the party. Here we are,
He finds Jess at the party. Jess said that she
has something important to tell Nick. But Nick, but she
can't say it like she's like trying to say it,

(27:24):
but she can't say I love you. She has a
panic attack and then she passed. Yeah, just and he
even mentions it later like that's doublely bad. Like what, like,
I don't know what's worse, the finger pointing or you
blacken out it.

Speaker 1 (27:38):
One's an awkward response, the other is your body just
shutting down at the thought of it.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
It's worse.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Yeah, that's worse because that's that's emotional right there. Yeah,
that's emotional.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
That's survival right now, your body's trying to survive. Like
what it considers to be the worst thing ever is
what it feels.

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Like, damn it. Do you and your wife say I
love you?

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Yeah? A few times over the years.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Yeah, you got to keep her happy, right, Just a
couple of times, just a couple I love you, yeah.

Speaker 5 (28:07):
I mean, my my family is just the most lovey
dovey people you know.

Speaker 2 (28:12):
Like her.

Speaker 5 (28:13):
Her family is not really they don't really like say
I love you to each other. But I've gotten her
in the habit of saying it, you know, because you
never know, you never know what's gonna happen. So I
just like to say it before I leave.

Speaker 4 (28:23):
Never heard you. I'm friends with Marlon'm friends with a
few people in your and your family. Never, never, ever,
any anyone of you ever said I love you to
me and you a little more than you're not.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
I give you hugs and kisses, which is kind of
the same.

Speaker 5 (28:42):
You know you, This is right there.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
I love you and your ammy. You love that.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
I can't.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Those kisses. Those are lip grazers. We talked about that drags.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
It's worse. It's worse.

Speaker 1 (29:13):
You better to have accidental kiss on the neck than
just like a lip brush up the neck.

Speaker 3 (29:18):
That's so much worse.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Oh my gosh. Okay, so what Jess wakes back up.
Nick tells her that he shouldn't have said I love you.
It was an accident, and Addy wants to take it back.
And that's when we discovered this whole time, Schmid has
not been inside of this party because he didn't handle
himself correctly. At the door. This man is pushing through

(29:43):
the bushes trying to get in, and I love the
fact that when he lands, he's got a frisbee in
his hand and he's like, he's like, this man does
not know how to.

Speaker 3 (29:51):
Play Prince Terrible. There's ten of them up there.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
So okay, before we get to it's crazy to think
you watch half the episode, you never see Prince, and
then it's all Prince. So there's a whole storyline that
had to be taken out of this episode, which also
impacted casting and all sorts of things. So there was
the whole Schmidt storyline of this can't be the finish line, like,

(30:19):
this can't be my final circle of friends, This can't
be like what a good night out looks like for
me most days of the week when I go out
with you guys, I need to level up. This is
gonna be my chance. I'm gonna go to a Prince party,
I'm gonna meet somebody that's going to change my life.
And so in the first draft of the script, when
he's trying, he's the only one left outside of the party.

(30:40):
They had Cindy Crawford be the person and they have
a genuine connection, and then she gets in the party
and she's like, if you find me, Like, if you
get in, come find me. So he's got this like
drive for Cindy Crawford. In another version it was Miranda Carer,
and then it was the beautiful models that ended up

(31:03):
being there that you guys talked to I think Alessandra
Ambrosia and Anna the other beautiful model. Yes, those gorgeous,
but they were supposed to be part of the Schmidt
storyline of him getting in and meeting these famous women

(31:23):
and this whole thing. And then what ended up happening
is that then they were going to do the Kardashians
and that's who was going to then level up his
whole game. So you had this massive storyline and it
even gets set up back in the loft, which had
to be cut, which was, well, what are you going
to do when you meet these famous people or someone
famous that's going to get your He was going to

(31:46):
do a fragrance with like the shape of the bottle
was going to be the shape of his body and
it was going to be called.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
Wiff with and so.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
That was like the big storyline, and then the Kardashians
were going that is, he's going to be talking to
Chris Jenner and he was going to get to pitch
it and it was going to be this huge moment.
And then he would look over and see CC hanging
out and playing a game at the bar, and then
he had to kind of like make a decision. But
as the story goes, when Prince showed up that day

(32:19):
and saw that the Kardashians were going to be part
of the episode, they made different choices around the Kardashians
being in the episode. And so what I realized and
watching the show, I was like, Oh, they had to
then go back through everything they shot and somehow make
Schmidt's story makes sense.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
Right, So I remember it a little.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Different, say say.

Speaker 5 (32:47):
Yeah, I don't know if this is true, but I
remember because I had was just leaving the makeup trailer
and then the ladies.

Speaker 2 (32:58):
Into the makeup j He's like, hi, dressed. They were
going over their lines and.

Speaker 5 (33:04):
Stuff, like they had their little sides in there like hey,
nice party or whatever.

Speaker 2 (33:09):
And then I hear, because Prince is on the way,
I hear Prince go he said I would never have
a Kardashian one of my parties.

Speaker 6 (33:17):
And they were like and then they oh, sure Theians
out put them in the card, set them away.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
They were just like, oh, I didn't know we were
I thought we were good.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
Just kicked them out and then scratched out all their
names from all the sides.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
No, they took them.

Speaker 1 (33:33):
You don't remember they ran around and grabbed all the
sides and put them basically like I don't know what,
they incinerated them or something like they were gone and
they had to reprint everybody's side so there was no
evidence and so they could be like never happened.

Speaker 4 (33:50):
You know what's so funny about this is that we
all have different accounts of this story. Okay, okay, well
I have a completely different one, my account and this
and again, don't know if this is true. I don't
know why I feel this way, but I've heard this
version or maybe this is the version, and.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
The feeling like he's how I feel.

Speaker 4 (34:08):
No, no, no, because I'm trying to remember how I
came to this conclusion of this being the story. I
remember people being on set and a lot of extras
are there, and then we were shooting in a particular area.
Max was already filming with them. He was already filming them,
and Prince came a little early and sat down in

(34:28):
video village, saw them on the monitor and then said
what are they doing here? And he was like, oh,
you know, it's the Prince party. And then he was
like the Kardashians would never be invited to a Prince
party and they called cut and they were like, thank you,
we got it. Because slightly after that, do you remember
where Max is talking to de Maris and the other actress.

(34:52):
I forget her name, but Demarus is a part of
Prince's squad. Prince then comes to me and was like, hey,
lot more and he was like he was like Demerius.
He's like, Demerius doesn't act. Is there any way you
could teach her how to look surprised? And I was like,
what do you mean? He goes, well, you know, she comes,
she sees me on the stage, and she gets excited,

(35:12):
she gets surprised at Prince is dere So can you
show her how to act surprised? And I was like yeah, sure,
and I'm thinking I'm a pull her to a corner
and do it. He sits down and he goes, did
do it right here? And he sits down and watches
me instruct her on how to act surprised, and he
was giddy and excited in that moment. And I and

(35:35):
I'm almost positive this is what did you do my version?

Speaker 3 (35:38):
Tell her how to feel it? Or did you just
go like did you stage and get.

Speaker 4 (35:43):
I just gave her. I just start doing a bit.
I asked her first. I was like, how do you
how would you you see Prince? How would you act?

Speaker 2 (35:50):
Were aud? Yes?

Speaker 4 (35:51):
Yes, you were there because you told a story. Yes,
and you told me this story about how your dad
want was invited to perform for princes.

Speaker 2 (36:02):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
So because I remember sitting it like going I just
performed for Prince And I was like, I don't you
know so I so that's why that version of the
story is resonating more with me as if they would
already started shooting. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
I wasn't there that day, so I don't know. I
just remember coming in later that night and they were
just running around making sure that no sides, which is
just like the small version of the script that everybody
kind of gets. But there was no sides laying around
that had like the old version that had the Kardashians
on it.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
But I don't know.

Speaker 1 (36:40):
If they cross paths, that's crazy. If they crossed paths,
I don't know. It isn't that weird to think that
we don't know?

Speaker 4 (36:47):
That would be wild.

Speaker 5 (36:48):
I remember my mouth dropping because when I found out
they had to go, because I was because I know
I've know Chloe since you know we were young.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Really Yeah, yeah, that's wild.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
I saw Kim the other day when I was in Cobbo.
I saw Kim. Yeah, and she we had a little
bit of a conversation. Let me tell you something. That
woman is glorious.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
She's our kids go to school together.

Speaker 4 (37:19):
Oh yeah, that's how you know we're getting older, Like
kids go to school together, old people among other old people.
Otle bittle bit nice, we get my old air. Oh

(37:40):
my gosh, Okay, where are we, Hannah, You're off topic
right now.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
I'm just talking about how they had to change all
of Schmidt's storyline to make it all work, And you're right.
Then they needed someone for Schmid to talk to, so
they had to scramble people up quickly, and so I
guess they went to Princess entourage and found he's surrounded
by beautiful women and to be like, could we could?

Speaker 4 (38:06):
He showed up with like fifty people all dressed in
tassels and zippers, looking like well.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
Because they were all going to perform on the stage, right,
they were all performing with him, And then he had
all of his friends and everybody there, So it was
that we had people to pull from. But they had
to make sense now all of a sudden of what
is Schmidt doing because there was a whole thing and
it was set up in the beginning because they were like,
he's like, I'm going to get in the party. I'm
going to meet these famous people, and they were like,
how are you going to get in? He's gonna be like,
I'm gonna say I'm cc perique and I think it

(38:34):
was David and the goes like, what what do you
mean you're cc peric And he's like, it's Charlie Charlie Peric.
And when he meets Chris Jenner, she goes, so, what's
your name? And he's so dumbfounded because she's like the
goddess of making people into like an amazing brand that
he's like Charlie Charlie Perriki. He says it even when

(38:55):
he's in the party. But all of that had to
go and so they had to make sense, and I
mean the genius of editors of trying to like make
sense of it when you have a whole storyline drop
out because Prince doesn't want the Kardashians there.

Speaker 2 (39:09):
I have a question, did Prince have I correct me
if I'm wrong?

Speaker 5 (39:12):
There were a couple of rules, like beforehand, before meeting him,
it was like don't look at him, don't talk to him,
don't ask for autograph or pictures or.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
Something like that.

Speaker 5 (39:22):
I remember him coming in for the first time and
me not wanting to look at him, and he was like,
it's okay, Damon, you can look at me.

Speaker 4 (39:31):
Did he say that? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (39:34):
I was like I think because I did. I was
like kind of like I didn't know what to do
that afro had the afro and the.

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Y K.

Speaker 4 (39:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:49):
I don't remember there being rules, but I do remember
like the vibe and it was talked about, which was
like just let everybody be like cool, yeah, and which
maybe he came like don't like you know, like don't
stare at him and like you don't like ask for.

Speaker 4 (40:03):
Autographs or was it there was a memo. There was
a memo. There was like leave your phone, leave your
phones in.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
Your trailers for sure.

Speaker 4 (40:10):
No pictures. I just remember being no phones, no pictures,
no autographs. That's our, that's what our That's what I remember.
And and he hates photos. Yeah, he hates photos. I
remember being at uh I went to the rat party
and I don't know if anybody I think I was
the was that the only cast member who went.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
No I think everybody went to the rap I just
didn't know.

Speaker 4 (40:34):
No Zo, you didn't go, Jake didn't go, Max didn't go.

Speaker 3 (40:36):
I went to when the museum was at the Big
Car Museum.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
Together, Me, you, Hannah, we.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
Have like the Oh no, So here's what happened. If
we're gonna jump to the rap party, I can jump
to the rat party. This episode recap you guys, is wild,
like the actual episode itself. I went to the rap party,
but I have to get into the story of like
my friendship with Prince.

Speaker 3 (41:00):
Did that make sense? Because I don't want things being
pulled out of context, because that's.

Speaker 4 (41:03):
What before you finish the Prince. Before you do me,
just quickly, I want to hear your story about I
just want to quickly get this finish the rest of
my point on this one. He's at the rat party
and people are taking photos of him, and his security
had this little light thing that was blocking the photos
so people couldn't actually take pictures. And I asked him.
I was like, hey man, I was like, you're going
to stay for the party. Look, you just walked in.

(41:25):
And he looks around and he goes. Goodness, now it
leaves all.

Speaker 3 (41:32):
Right, you guys.
