Speaker 7 (01:34):

the outside corner. It's packed with news, views, features and
highlights from Kamerica and all mlvbro dot com.

Speaker 8 (02:01):
Shake hands, sucking dancema putting into an art form either

doctor states always greatly dramatics. It's stuff is electric, not
the beat. This respected coam on rock up.

Speaker 4 (02:30):
We'll be flexing. Devin Williams distressing and bender and the
Bronx rained down on me. Bredrian heavy is the head
that with the bronze brown. Martha Strouman already know how
the strikes get down. My music bleak like the drift
from a forceing. Just my quality starts. We don't count
all the losses. Gay Sism went on the pivot and
Y be lost, but we know we keep coming back
from more juice and were more flaws.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
It.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
Who's gonna beat this ship? The broze in head Chase
Burns got to flip. It's some frozy head. Loris Butler's

flow is so.

Speaker 8 (03:16):
Choking, really old us private Jet snow bus salary bonus,
Michael have Us might win an MVP this season. The
base still in treason could very well be the reason
we lost. Ricky and Willie are cracking.

Speaker 9 (03:28):
The Philly not the one.

Speaker 8 (03:29):
No Wooka pills are fake shoot us. But the great

This season, he corrected the floors. He did senjobbles. We
swing for your bulls to protective plates like a stash
off with fifty key lows.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
We up ogre always yes, sounder six.

Speaker 7 (03:47):
If you think it's tough making it to the show
as a Black American player, imagine what it's like to
try to be a Black American man.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
It's hard.

Speaker 7 (03:55):
I'm the m O b O G. Mark Gray and
I'm going deep for the mixtape. For thirteen Big league season,
second baseman Delano de Shields was one of the best
of his position and one of the more exciting players
in the game. However, these days, he's trying to prepare
a new generation of Washington Nationals for life beyond Triple
A as manager of the team's Double A affiliate and

(04:17):
Harris Burd you know, for.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Me though, coaching has been therapeutic for me though, you
know a lot of people don't talk about players after
the game is over and trying to find something to
feel that. Boy, So just just knowing my why and
understanding what that is for me, is it's enough right now?

Speaker 7 (04:32):
Delano doesn't coach by intimidation of scare tactics. Instead, he
prides himself on being more of a teacher who develops
his players talent to not only make it to the show,
but stay up there.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
I think one big thing I try to do is
avoid talking about how we used to do that, you know,
talking about my career unless they bring it up, you
know what I mean. But it staying current, you know,
trying to meet them where they are, a lot of times,
you know, these kids are in the different things, they
have different challenges today, so it's trying.

Speaker 7 (04:59):
To meet them still. The end game is Delano not
planning to be grooming players on the farm for the
rest of his career most definitely.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
You know that that's the ultimate goal.

Speaker 7 (05:10):
Delano De Shields has been putting in work since before
he got his call to the show. But the next
time he gets a call, he's waiting to hear from
a team that's going to give him a chance to
run an entire big league bench. The question is will
that call never come? I'm Mark Gray going d for
the mix.

Speaker 5 (05:28):
Tape War Wins ops LA plus.

Speaker 2 (05:33):
Baseball is a game of stats. I'm Sebastantball and I'm
the numbers man some well known MLB bro Hunter Green
has started off twenty twenty five with three spectacular pitching performances,
most notably his eight point two shutout innings against the Giants,
who had the best record in baseball at the time.

(05:53):
Hunter Green's breakout seemed inevitable, and he displayed that in
twenty twenty four. However, in twenty twenty five, he's showing
a new level of performance and growing into a potential
cy Young candidate. In twenty twenty four, Hunter Green produced
a two point seventy five earned run average over one
hundred and fifty innings, a stark improvement on his twenty
twenty three But his strikeout numbers were the lowest of

(06:16):
his career and his walk numbers were the same as normal.
So what changed. His home runs per flyball tanked from
over fourteen percent to just under seven percent. This one
change dropped his fielding independent pitching from four point twenty
five to three point four to seven and this is
with the lowest strikeout rate and fastball velocity of his career.

(06:38):
So now we arrive in twenty twenty five, and through
his first three starts, Green has added back his average
fastball velocity to a career high of ninety nine point
four miles per hour. He has increased his strikeout percentage
by three percent up to thirty point seven percent, and
most importantly, he has more than halved his walk rate,
going from nine point three percent down to a whopping

(07:00):
four percent, while his home runs per five ball percentage
is all the way down to three point one percent.
He strikes out batters at an elite rate, and he
rarely gives batters the free pass. He has basically eliminated
all potential weaknesses in his game. This has dropped his
fielding independent pitching all the way down to one point nine.

(07:22):
If he can continue this form, the only thing preventing
him from a run at the Cy Young would be
the Reds fielding. But luckily for him, the Reds currently
ranked third in baseball in defensive out of A average
with four as of April ninth. A Reds team that
has struggled to get the bats going early in the
season has been in great hands with their pitching and

(07:44):
with Hunter Green leading their rotation, they can make a
lot of noise in a tight National League Central Division.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
Shitty Bang bang a blows it like a chain game.
But we all through the same bank effect in the
Science Lan the sam lot mostly and half months. Pops
made the sacrifice long. But for the gold brush gold
us keep Brian. He's having gold glove Bill and walking
his hands. Now then it's like the gone crush he
do one pitches in is often be swol much. What

(08:12):
we do is give you baseball, which is soul touch
to diversity is just what the strap ball, the black
blue passage would his stats by the side door and
on base presenters that the killers would die ball. I'm
not dating out. We don't do Brady Sophomore.

Speaker 9 (08:27):
This is spread Quentine with Brett's reps for MLB Bros
Show podcast the Mixtape Five Guys. No, I'm not talking
about the restaurant. I'm talking about five guys who I
enjoyed when I first started watching the game of baseball.
These bros weren't considered superstars, not at all, but they
played in the big leagues for a minimum of ten

(08:47):
years and had success. In no particular order, here's five
of my personal favorites. Willie Upshaw, lefty, hitting first basement
for the Toronto Blue Jays. He held it down for
much of the eighties, New of the Border. Not too
many people realized he was the first Blue Jay to
ever have one hundred runs batted in a single season.

(09:07):
He had one hundred and four nineteen eighty three. That
was his best season, twenty seven homers and he also
hit three to zh six. He only got to the
postseason once, tough seven game American League Championship Series lost
to the Kansas City Royals in nineteen eighty five, But
there's no denying that Upshaw is a guy who helped
get that Toronto franchise going in those cold days of

(09:29):
Exhibition Stadium. Dan Dreesen fifteen years in the major leagues,
most notably with the Cincinnati Reds. It was tough to
break that starting lineup of the Big Red Machine in
the seventies, but Dreasen was a big part of those teams,
providing depth, valuable in the backup role at first base,
left field, and right field. He got his break when

(09:51):
Tony Perez was traded and dreason became an everyday first baseman.
He even hit three hundred in nineteen seventy seven, and
on June sixteenth, nineteen seventy eight, yeah teammate Tom sever
he threw a no hitter, but Dreesen led off the
sixth inning of that game with a home run, and
he retired fellow bro George Hendrick of the Cardinals on

(10:11):
a ground ball for the game's final out. Steve Henderson
he became a New York met because he was in
the Tom Seaver trade. It's fair to say that he
was a journeyman for much of his career. Rookie season
with New York was a good one. He finished second
to fellow bro Andre Dawson for National League Rookie of
the Year in nineteen seventy seven. Nothing flashy, just an

(10:33):
all around ball player. He played for five teams in
his twelve year career. He had a solid two eighty
batting average. If you followed the National League East in
the late seventies and early eighties, you knew Steve Henderson.
He also played for the Cubs and few Young Bucks
out here. Yes the culture once in the National League.

Speaker 6 (10:52):
East, Ryans Rachanale back at you twenty twenty five season.
Let's kick off the season with a bang. I sure
we have forty seven and twenty. Let's keep this train Rowland.
Our first matchup takes us to Houston, Texas buck In Park,
where we have the Houston Astros versus the Anaheim Angels.
Shout out to Ron Washington and the coaching staff really

(11:13):
got these Angels off to a hot start. Coming at
four on the year, players really playing some sound baseball
offensively and defensively. With the emergence of Kyri Parris, this
young bright star for the Angels really off to a
hot start. Batten four thirty two, five home runs in
the first two weeks of the season. Bright future at Anaheim.

(11:33):
This matchup look for the Angels to keep up their
winning raids Halo's roll over the Strolls in Houston. Our
next matchup takes us to Arizona Chase Field and Phoenix,
where we have the Milwaukee Brewers versus the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Bro Sean Snaylor filling in nicely at first base. Batten
three forty on the season with sixteen hits really been
a nice addition to that d Backs lineup. This matchup

(11:56):
has Corbyn Burns on the bump based against his old
mates in Milwaukee. Brewers look for Corby and to bounce
back after a rough start in the East. I looked
for him at home to settle down and tame the
brew crew as the Dbacks take care of business at home.
Our last my job takes us to Cincinnati, Ohio, Great
American Ballpark, where we have the Cincinnati Reds versus the

(12:17):
Pittsburgh Pirates. Post Hunter Green coming off with magnificent performance
at the Bay with eight to two thirds inning, striking
out seven even the zero runs. Dela Cruz and the
rest of that Reds line up to help out Hunter
Green with some early run support as they take care
of business as the Reds down, the Pirates keep it rational.

(12:40):
Now back to the mix.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Is the.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
Look again as he's catching all that Brookie slack. Now
it's bad, it's blazon. He wanted to bring the city back.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
That's how we do it.

Speaker 5 (13:03):
When CJ. Broctice fitted Captain Nats of prep in DC,
It's time to bring the city back. Sixty three long
and lanky with a blister of the bend of Bros.
Got the nets myna elite system back to one, so
tho trade. Mike Grizzo wanted to fade you, not out
far in the GM. Hove been nice for days. That's
the leather ball in the hole. Yeh, he getting that

(13:26):
spinning on his back. Make the throw yo. He ro
off of that. Another Georgia boy employed to reckon destroy
the MLB Bro scene. So high lights your boy average
creeping up Homer's double digits. The Nats are in the
cut with the tunnel vision and as the team grows,
so will Abrams game. This ain't that team flow. Abrams

(13:48):
already in the game, and you see the progression as
he's rising from fame. He's learning to win walk offs,
homers and missiles. This ain't the next and Abrams. YOI
don't double dripple. He hit the doubles and triples. The
affect this ripple number fives in CJ April, he's catching
out that rookie slack that was bad.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
It's blazing.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
He wants to bring the Cydney.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
That how we do it.

Speaker 5 (14:12):
When CJ pops fill the capta, that's a ripping DC.
It's time to bring the fifty back. Look at dj.

Speaker 9 (14:18):
Abel, he's catching up that rookie slack.

Speaker 5 (14:23):
That concludes another episode of the MLB Bro Show podcast
mixtape for this week. Remember we will gladly pay you
on Tuesday.

Speaker 9 (14:31):
From an MLB bro.

Speaker 5 (14:33):
Doubleheader today, the heart of the Game lies in the
diversity of the game and the spirit of Black baseball.

Speaker 9 (14:39):
That dates back to the legal leagues.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
I the Gambler, your friendly neighborhood diamond checker, making sure
that you stay on top of the game and in
touch with the soul of MLB. See you next week, ladies,
and shurm we out of here and drop the Mike
