Speaker 1 (00:01):
Sports grade news update. We wait word this morning on
potential suspensions from that ugly brawl at the end of
the Kansas Kansas State game Kansas one one to sixty,
but not without some big, big problems at the end
Kansas with a late block, a taunting technical foul, and
then a brawl breaks out in a seated section of
(00:23):
fans along the baseline. Major League Baseball announced their twenty
Hall of Fame class. Larry Walker gets in by the
skin of his teeth, just above the seventy needed to
get in. Derek Cheeter one vote, shy of being a
unanimous election into the Hall. We'll see their speeches over
the summer end. In the NBA, we await official word
on Dwight Powell, but Sean's Trania of The Athletic reported
(00:46):
late on Tuesday night it is believed he suffered a
season ending torn right achilles tendon in that game against
the Clippers. On Dan Strafford and this is man your
sports grade news update. Stay tuned at the top of
every hour for your latest news updates, books what's going on.
This is sports Grid. Get on the grid, Good morning,
(01:13):
Wake up, the morning line line up? All right, here
we go welcome in. It is now a Wednesday, January.
It is twenty I can't believe we are there, but yes,
I'm Joe Ornary. Is the morning line here on the
(01:35):
Grid sports grid dot Com. As we will do our
best over the next fifty seven and a half minutes
or so to get you caught up with everything that
happened overnight in the world of sports betting. Not to
mention take a look ahead today, which has twelve NBA
games to NHL games and count them with me already
one to just drake my word for it, fifty three
(01:58):
college basketball games all the hardwood tonight, as we continue
to hold down the fort waiting for Miami. That's right,
waiting for Miami, although since I'm here, it's not really
that that much of a wait. But the Super Bowl
will be here as everyone who is a San Francisco
forty Niner, associated with the forty Niners, Kansas City Chiefs,
(02:21):
Kansas City chief affiliates, all will be on planes, all
will be coming to the Sunshine Stake getting ready for
the hard Rock Stadium. That is right, it is gonna
be Super Bowl fifty four, and prop bets continue to
to roll out here across the country in sports books
given better as an opportunity to dabble in a little
(02:43):
bit of the the prop market here, which is always
fun and the handle is always huge, and I think
especially this year, estimations are that it's going to be
the biggest in fact that we have seen ever, which
is saying something because the super Bowl is the one
event that you can count on throughout the year outside
(03:04):
of March Madness, which gets pretty crazy too. The super
Bowl is the one events that you will have folks
who don't bad or are not necessarily recreational betters. They
do it, you know, only for big games, world series,
those types of things. The influx of that money, the
public money, when it comes to not only the prop market,
(03:27):
but of course the betting markets, is so significant that
it does behoove those of you that dabble in have
been doing it for a little while and really starting
to get your feet wet in the sports wagering markets.
It's it's good to get in sooner rather than later,
because in fact, those those odds markets, those prop markets,
(03:50):
the numbers, it starts to cost you a little bit
more and more and more as as people start to
explaining which prop they like where they're going, and it's
amazing how all of a sudden you'd like to Patrick
mahomes TD total over one and a half, but instead
of it being at minus one twenty, now it's gonna
(04:10):
cost you, uh, you know, minus one sixty minus one
sixty five in order to be able to play it.
So if you are a savvy better over the next
couple of days, you definitely want to dive into some
of those numbers as they are released, and you want
to go ahead and get your wagers in, and you
are always looking to beat the closing line number. You
(04:31):
always want to save, you know, fifteen twenty cents, the
difference between having the layout minus one twenty or minus
one fifty. Although it's just thirty cents, the reality there's
a lot of money tied to that. So we'll help
you all throughout the week here as we prep and
get you ready, not only in the prop market, but
of course trying to figure out who's gonna win that game,
(04:52):
who's not gonna win that game, where is the total going,
what about the first half? How should we approach this
game live betting? You name it, We've got you covered
here on the grid Sports Grid dot com and we
will get you there now. Yesterday, only one NBA game
on the card, and it was a good one last
(05:12):
night in the West as the Clippers took on the
Dallas Mavericks. Will tell you exactly how that game worked out.
College hoops games, which included an all out brawl at
the at the Kansas Kansas State game, which was great,
and that included both benches getting cleared, a fight rolling
(05:34):
over into the handicap section by the way on the court,
and it also included a dude picking up a chair,
a player picking up a chair and then deciding maybe
this is not a good idea and dropping said chair.
All the while the Kansas Jayhawk mascot was in complete
denial of what was happening right in front of them.
(05:55):
Will show you the pictures coming up. But it was
a crazy night in Kyle Edge hoops. Which is something
I think that we've all come to realize at this
point in the season. If you haven't been following, just
understand that top twenty five teams in the country here
since the beginning just about two months ago. Uh, it's
every time they win, every time they get into a
(06:17):
spot to really solidify themselves. In that top twenty five,
they end up losing a game. Home court advantage huge
in college basketball as teams continue to struggle to win
games on the road. Some of the conferences a Big Ten,
Big East, some of these conferences, it almost don't even
just look just figure out who the home team is,
(06:39):
doesn't matter what team it is, look at the home
team and just back it because some of these teams
are having just the hardest time. Most of these teams
and a lot of conferences are having the hardest time
being able to not only win on the road, but
cover on the road. Uh. And that includes Duke as well,
who was in action last night against the universe City
(07:00):
of Miami, losers of two in a row? Could they
make it three in a row? We'll have that score
for you and a complete rundown of the games. But
a lot was on social media last night about the
Hall of Fame and Major League Baseball who announced who's
getting in this year, and of course the final tally
(07:21):
from sports writers the Baseball Writers Association of America. A
total fraudulent community, a community that is just filled with
nothing but a bunch of people who have access to grind,
who don't really care about writing or telling the story
of the game of baseball. No, no, no, no no.
(07:42):
They are much more interested and getting even with the
players who might have snubbed them in a in a
past life, in a past career, who maybe didn't give
them that interview that they wanted twenty years ago. So
ha ha, guess who's got the power now? Wow? Congratulations?
Uh one of those writers was on full display last night.
(08:05):
That's right, one of those baseball writers of the Association
of America Fraud. Yes, Derek Jeter. Derek Jeter. The big
question was not if he was going to be elected.
The big question was with Derek Jeter, like his teammate
Marianna Rivera, would he be unanimous? And if he wasn't,
(08:27):
who to help voted against Derek Jeter? Will run down
the list for you Baseball's Hall of Fame. Cooper's down,
Jeter's headed there, But who didn't vote for? Talk about
that next her On the Grid sports grid dot Com,

(09:10):
welcome back in here to the grid. It is sports
grid dot com. I'm darn there. It is the morning Line,
and uh, I want to thank you guys very much
for something on what is and and I know you
guys probably not gonna have a whole lot of sympathy,
but as I sit here in in Miami, I woke
(09:31):
up two temperatures in the thirties here this morning, and
uh it is cold, beyond cold. When I tell you
alerts on the phone and uh, taking your plants, taking
your pats. We are talking temperatures in the thirty It
is almost a national emergency here as you can just
(09:52):
about see your breath outside and that is never a
good thing when palm trees are in your backdrop. And
you know it's really bad when the entire city of
Orlando and every theme park known a mankind has to
close their water parks and everything else because it's too cold.
And hopefully hopefully that this uh this arctic front or
(10:17):
global warming, my ad, my word, it's uh it is
freezing here this morning. I can tell you this, Uh
they are. They are anticipating it might stick around for
a little while, which I know is gonna bomb a
whole lot of people that that are planning on coming
here for the Super Bowl, hopping on planes from all
over the country, especially let's face it, Kansas City. Uh,
(10:40):
even in the Bay Area. They're looking forward to a
week of sunshine and warm weather and beaches in Miami. Yeah,
so hopefully it'll it'll start to warm up again. But
this was I had to look for socks. I it was.
It was brutal this morning. I gotta tell you, didn't
have a whole lot of I had to dig into
(11:02):
boxes to go. I know there's winter closed around here somewhere,
and it was. Yeah, it was rough for me this morning.
And I know you're shedding a tear, but I did
want to share that with you. Uh, in the meantime,
shedding a tear. Speaking of which, Derek Jeter, congratulations is
in order, because Derek Jeter is on his way rightfully
(11:23):
so by the way to the Hall of Fame, and
Derek was pretty excited about it himself. This is something
that I think when you start off your career, you're
never thinking about the Hall of fame. I mean, this
is the highest honor that can be given to any
individual that plays this game. And and um, you know,
speechless when when I got the call. You know, everyone said,
(11:44):
you know and anticipated phone call coming at such and
such time, but quite frankly, I was pretty nervous. And
then when I got today, I really didn't know what
to say, No need to say anything. You are definitely
headed to Cooper's town. And it is without a doubt,
uh certainly a a foregone conclusion. It was just not
(12:05):
a matter of if. Hell, it wasn't even a matter
of when we knew you were going to get in
on the on the first vote there, the first ballot bought.
The real question was and what people really wanted to
know was whether or not like his like his teammate
there Marianna Rivera last year unanimous, the first time it's
ever happened, where everybody voted for Marianna Rivera, all of
(12:29):
these baseball writers, everybody game. One of the votes never
happened prior. In fact, Ken Griffy Jr. Was on that list.
I believe point three percent. Um you had Rivera at
a hundred and Derek Jeter comes in at nine point
seven because of all the votes three hundred and uh.
(12:52):
I believe there was three four ballots. Uh and you
needed above to be able to get in. Uh. And
Derek apparently one guy did not vote, but Derrick Cheater,
one dude or lady and just just one one person
of the Baseball Writers Association of America opted not to
put Derek Jeter on on the ballot and uh and
(13:14):
put a check mark next to his name, thus causing
the ninety nine point seven instead of which kind of
is hilarious that that this is We always love stuff
to bitch and moan about, but we are not. We
are not bitching a money about the merits of him
being in Cooper's down, although there is still people trying
to argue with the fact that you know, I wasn't
(13:36):
the greatest short stuy. Please guy had you know, a
ridiculous career. He's got five rings. He was the heart
and soul of the New York Yankees in some of
the most you know, difficult times here in in New
York City and around a guy was Mr Clutch. You
wouldn't have wanted another guy up at the plate with
(13:56):
the game on the line in a World Series Pennant anywhere.
But yeah, you're right, you know it was overrated because
when he got into his mid thirties, he wasn't the
same raine shortstop that he was when he was in
his twenties. Like place, Uh, the guy absolutely belongs in
the Hall of Fame. And the fact that one toolbag
uh did not put him on and did not vote
(14:19):
for him on his ballot, it says way more about
the process and of course everything that I hate about
the Baseball Writers of Association and exactly how you have
to go about in order to be able to get
voted to go in. That exemplifies what I'm talking about, because,
believe it or not, there was also and I don't
know if this is the same guy, but I don't
(14:41):
want to. I don't want to. I don't want to
connect those dots, but there was a ballot in which
somebody voted for J. J. Putts. That's correct. J J.
Putts got a valet. I got a vote there, but
Derek Jeter apparently did not get one vote. J J.
(15:01):
Putts one Derek Jeter or nothing. I don't know if
it's the same guy's card, but I would assume that
if you are going to go out of your way
to check the box for J. J. Potts. Yeah, that
tells you everything you need to know about the people
who have their ballots, the people who control who gets
(15:22):
into the Baseball Hall of Fame, and what a sham
it truly is because guys like uh you know uh
are And we've talked about this for a long time
to Larry Walker, who was coming near the end of
his eligibility to be able to be voted in this
in fact was the final year, and was he going
(15:43):
to get the necessary se votes and the answer, uh
is um absolutely finally yes. Well, I think I was
quoted earlier as sending something out that I didn't think
it was happening, and I actually truly meant that. I
I had the I had the numbers in my head
(16:04):
and was prepared for no call, and and then the
opposite happened, and that call comes and all of a sudden,
you can't breathe. So it was the day flew by
pretty quick. But when that when that phone rang and
I saw the number, at heart skips a beat. Larry Walker,
congratulations appeared on three four of the ballots there that
(16:26):
is above six more, by the way, just six more
ballots then needed to cover that s mark, but he
is in fact finally on his last, his tenth and
final appearance on the ballot, he finally got enough votes,
up from fifty four point six percent last year to
just over seventy this year. UH, Larry Walker is heading
(16:48):
in congratulations that both of them will be inducted into
that Baseball Hall of Fame July in Cooper's town. UH.
Joining them will be former catcher Ted Simmons of the
UH of the Milwaukee Brewer era there and Cardinals. Also,
the former Players Association had Marvin Miller, who was responsible
(17:09):
for getting baseball players the trillions of dollars that they
that they are now enjoying. And UH he was voted
in by the Modern Era Committee. So there were some
thought that even if he didn't get in Larry Walker
this year, that they would have eventually voted him in
in one of these committee. But the fact that you
(17:30):
have to even take it to that point in order
to get players like um, you know, Larry Walker in there,
that it takes ten times. It's almost like, now you're
gonna tell me what Barry Bonds and UH and and
Roger Clemens aren't in. Yeah, that's exactly what I'm going
to tell you, which is the other joke and a
half of all of this. Kurt Schilling. Yeah, remember Kurt, Kurt,
(17:52):
his bloody sock is actually in uh in Cooper's town
in the Hall of Fame. He's not, but his bloody
sock is. And we all remember the infamous sub the
soccer ordeal there believe it or not, he finished third,
he was at yeah, I know he was showing it
was at votes he got seventy, so that that was
his eighth ballot appearance. And of course many people bring
(18:16):
up the fact that they don't necessarily agree with his
his politics and that he is a bit of a toolbag,
and yeah, yeah, I get that, but I'm not really
sure what that has to do with what he did
on a pictures now during his career. But hey, um,
that's the process we have. That's what we've got to
live with, Clemens and Bonds both around that. I know
(18:42):
I have speech was absolutely but there is good news
for Bonds and Clemens. It looks like it will happen
next year. I'll explain why I'm gonna do that coming
up next year. On the grid. What's the dot com.

k to play. That's sports grid dot com forward slash
d k And if you have a gambling problem called
one hundred gambler. It is twenty one and over New
Jersey only. Eligibility restrictions apply. Make sure you check out
that website for details. And yes, we just to finish
it off there. Of course, Derek Jeter in Larry Walker
(21:36):
in for the for the Hall of Fame. There is
a serious uh effort right now underway to figure out
who the one ballot member they are, the one person
who did not vote for Derek Jeter. He got every
vote but one, So there is a there is an
effort to figure out who this anonymous writer is that
(21:59):
this added to leave Jeter off. And I will say
this again, there is a writer. Somebody actually placed a
vote for J. J. Potts. That's correct. J J. Potts
got a vote, but that means that that was a
vote used. And we already know guys like um, you
know John Hayman or respected baseball. I don't respect anymore,
(22:20):
but baseball. Guy who's got a ballot? Uh, you get
you get ten checkmarks you can put next to names there.
And he only opted for five and he opted for Bonds,
but he didn't not for Clemens. And it's did. The
whole thing is laughable. And it's not only laughable from
the standpoint of just you and me looking at this
(22:41):
going How in the world is the all time home
run leader and strike giler? How are they not in
the Hall of Fame? Like how is how is this
still happening? Like what is going on? Uh? And you
know it's bad when, um, well, it's the same reason
why Derek Jeter does not get the full that there
has to be always that one that one guy, that
one person that either is going to come out and
(23:03):
own up to this because they're gonna want the publicity.
And that's sometimes is exactly why guys do things like this,
vote for J J. Putts and other things along those lines,
try to get their name out there. They want a
couple of clicks. Yeah, um, but you know it's bad
even when when o J is looking for you, Um,
then you know it's you know it's really bad. Hey,
(23:26):
Twitter World, yours Trulie. Well, I just finished playing golf,
and you know what, I don't normally bet, but and
I love Patrick Mahomes. You guys saw me on Halloween.
I was Mahomie. But I got a bet before the nine,
especially now if I can get two points, I'm taking
the nine. Just got off the golf course and heard
something I couldn't believe. Who wouldn't vote for Derek Jeter
(23:48):
for Baseball Hall of Fame. This man has been a
credit to the game. He's been a credit to sports. Uh.
He's had a hell of a career. I mean, seriously,
take that guy's vote away from him. He should never
be able to vote again. He's probably from Boston, but
even Boston people to appreciate good baseball. I'm just saying,
(24:09):
get rid of that guy. Yeah, you know, j says
get rid of you. I was gonna say when O
j is saying get rid of you. Um, listen, I'm
with you, O Jake. All right, listen, this happens to
be one of those things. I'm I'm on board with
jo j Paul his damn credentials. Get rid of the ballot.
(24:30):
These people should not have it. Uh. And He's right.
This isn't somebody, I can promise you, this isn't going
to be somebody that didn't vote for Jeter on the
merits of his baseball career. It is simply somebody who
didn't vote for Jeter because of some sort of allegiance
to I mean, hell, it could be a fact that
(24:52):
they're piste off what Jeter and how he handled the
Marlins down here and what he did as an owner.
I mean, they're The list goes on on on how
ridiculously petty this group. In the Baseball Writers Association of
America's there was a lot of people very upset when
Jeter took over and fired guys like Andre Dawson and
(25:12):
UH and others, guys that have been with the Marlins organization.
A lot of guys not happy with Jeter certainly down
here for what he did after his baseball career in
the ownership group there for the Marlins. But again, could
be a Boston could be a Boston write. It could
be anybody that's got an axe to grind with something
to do with either Jeter or the Yankees. None of it,
(25:35):
though I can promise you, has anything to do with
what Jeter did on the field. And UH and the
idea that Bonds and Clemens are harboring, I mean, congratulations,
they're up to about now. The good news for Bonds
and Clemens, and I had mentioned this earlier, the good
news for them, UH is the fact that they might
very well this could be it. They could very well
(25:59):
um get in next year because of how the ballot works.
In other words, every year we usually have a new
crop of guys are eligible to add their name to
the ballot. And so what it does is it keeps
getting very convoluted those guys that have been on the ballot. Obviously,
(26:20):
then you get guys like a crop of guys like
Jeter in it that are gonna steal votes from from
guys like Clemens and Bond, which the fact they're on
there is a little ridiculous. Um, there are going to
be fourteen holdover Hall of Fame candidates on next year's ballot.
Four and that's great because they only need to contend
with themselves next year. And on that list, by the way, Shilling, Clemens, Bonds,
(26:44):
Omarvi's scale, Billy Wagner is getting, Gary Sheffield, Todd Helton,
Manny Ramirez on their getting Jeff Kent, Sammy so says
there Andy Pettit, Bobby Abree who. So the good news
is there is the crop next year of first time
eligible baseball players to be on the ballot is it's
(27:09):
virtually non existent. Uh. The only guy, the best guy
on that eligibility list that would make it, Mark Burley. Yeah,
Mark Burley there, the former All Star four gold gloves. Uh.
He was as a picture to fourteen and one sixty
with a three point eight one e r A, had
(27:29):
a close to nineteen hundred strikeouts, Uh, close to thirty
three innings. He threw a no hit or a perfect
game and one a World Series. He sits eighty nine
in starting starting pitcher numbers. And yeah, no, so if
that's the best you got, the reality is and other
guys that would be on that, Shane Victorino, anybody. No. Yeah,
(27:54):
so there's not a really great crop of guys that
are going to start siphoning vote so off of though
you never know next year. So the truth is the
fourteen holdovers with Chilling, Clemens and Bonds at the top
of the list, with there's a very good chance that
the guys who have not voted him will finally get
(28:15):
around to voting him, because either that or you're betting
for you know, Bobby A. Bray, you and and Tim
Hudson or a Shane Victory. No, and while they all
I'm sure and JJ Potts, I'm sure those guys will
still get a couple of votes here there. But the
truth is without this really influential crop of new first
time ballot guys. The holdovers we've seen it before, in
(28:38):
all likelihood will garner the necessary votes to get in.
But to me, scrap the whole damn thing and uh
and get away and give the votes to who should matter,
the fans. Give it to the fans. Let them vote
the guys that should be in, because they can do
a hell of a lot better job than what we
are seeing from the Baseball Writers Association of America. Don't
(29:02):
even get me started on Pete Rose. So last night
we had UH, we had one game in the NBA.
We had a bunch of games twenty five or so
in UH in college hoops, and we'll start there for
for a glimpse here at what took place. And there
was a monster upset in the top twenty five, that
(29:23):
being the TCU horn Frogs last night at home taken on.
And this goes back to our our discussion about college hoops,
and we're gonna continue to dive into getting you guys
caught up with what has happened thus far in college
hoops and some of the trends and teams and things
you need to be aware of as you begin to
(29:43):
maybe dabble a little bit transition from the football state
of mind here to a basketball state of mind, as
March Madness is a month and a half away here,
so it'll be here before we know it. Great opportunity
for you guys to profit between here and then. So uh,
TCU last night taking number eighteen Texas that it's right.
TCU at home, unranked, going up against Texas Tech, Texas
(30:07):
Tech beating the doors off of them in the first half,
and then the second half happened, uh, in which TCU
just boat raced him. The final score sixty five fifty four.
TCU takes down another top another unranked team at home,
takes down a top twenty five team that cannot win
on the road. And of course Texas Texas Tech guys,
(30:28):
you know last year they took Virginia down to the
very last shot. What a great game that was, as
Virginia of course won the national championship. But Chris Beard
and company there, Texas Tech, they were right there, the
Horned Frogs take them down as a two and a
half point home underdog. They were plus one thirty on
the money line. Should chang in those of you that
(30:48):
faded Texas Tech on the road. The total also stayed
under one. Uh. There was some chalking. There was a
little chalking this last night. There was you can if
that sound you hear is talk. It included villan Over
taken down, Brotler, Kansas taken down to Kansas State, Kentucky
taken down Georgia, and Maryland finally went on the road
(31:09):

the prest of the scores BLUs and talk about that
Clippers map game. Next on the want to light the

ten percent discount. Woh, Louis lou I, I love that
all right. Welcome back in here to the to the
grids as we get ready for a big night on
(32:17):
the card here of course, not back at it. We
have fifty over fifty games in the college hoops World
two and we're gonna dive into a little uh college
basketball too for a gambling you here in just a
couple of minutes, UH, to piggyback off of what we
talked about how important the the market is, an understanding
(32:40):
the market when if you're transitioning from the football state
of mind to the basketball state of mind, and a
lot of folks are doing that right now and that
will continue. And you know, guys have fifty three games
on the on the hard wood tonight in college hoops,
so there is definitely plenty of action for the recreational
better or the um the person that spent all this
(33:02):
time betting on football, well I'm gonna start dabbling transitioning
into college hoops. And there are some tendencies, uh that
follow with that, and we'll give you a night a
couple of those here in just a minute. But last
night we did have a basketball game, and that basketball game,
a single game, uh, featured a battle in the Western
(33:23):
Conference between Kauai Leonard and the Clippers. No Paul George.
He remains out. It's it's very shady what's going on
here with with the Clippers of Paul George. Nobody really
seems to know how extensive that the injury. It's a
is it a tendon? Is it not? Is it? But
he he's hurt again? Uh? And they have not had
(33:45):
his services. But Kauai now, Uh, they did have Kauai.
The Dallas Mavericks, they had kristophs Porzingis back after a
ten game absence. They got Don and Porzingis back in
the lineup last night, and the Clippers found themselves in
a very unique situation. They were underdogs as Dallas was
getting hammered in the markets. They're pushing that up from
(34:08):
a minus one all the way to a minus two
and a half. As the public loved the Dallas Mavericks
in this spot going up against the Clippers, they also
loved the over because they hammered that number all the
way up to two thirty four to three and a
half to thirty four uh when it opened up at nine.
(34:30):
So it was continuing to get love. Everyone expecting a
monster shootout between these two teams, and what they ended
up getting was not a monster shootout. They got, they
got some points scored, but they didn't come anywhere even
remotely close to what they thought as the Kauhi Leonard lead.
(34:53):
On the road, Clippers took care of business there. Kauai
drops thirty six and the Clippers beat the Mavericks one
ten to one oh seven. That's their fourth straight win, that,
of course, uh falling at to seventeen for a total yeah,
way under what what. The The market of course had
created some a false shall we say, um and overvaluing yes,
(35:20):
and that's gonna lead us into our gambling you here
in a second to prove a very valid point, because
it last night, the only game in the association was
that one, and that was a wild swing. The Clippers
were the better team and just about every metric known
to mankind, but that didn't stop the public from artificially
(35:43):
inflating the numbers, both in the spread and in the total,
especially in the total. And for those of you that
follow us here at at sports Grid, you you know
that every day we put out our picks from the
Edge here which includes uh, some of our favorite bets
of the of the day, but it also includes our
sports Grid model play and uh. The sports Grid Model
(36:06):
was all over this game last night. It loved the
under at two thirty two and a half. It was
a five star play for them and boom, wouldn't you
note hitting the under artificially inflated and awesome stuff. Great job,
a sweep of the card last night. If you will
on our picks from the edge, So congratulations to those
(36:28):
of you that tailed. If not, make sure you're you
got us not only on on Instagram but on Twitter,
and make sure you're following, because great stuff coming out
your way. Another card tonight and another pick from the edge.
Of course, all our favorite plays, including the sports Grid Model,
will come your way there. Make sure you're telling us.
But that was a Luca don Chick did his thing
(36:50):
as usual, but Kawhi Leonard kind of took this team
on his back. Lou Williams also a pretty good game,
and they are proving that their depth and their bench
is just better than everybody else's. And Donte got thirty
six and ten boards. He had nine assists for Dallas.
He scored twenty four points in the second half. Over
(37:11):
it was funny the Clippers and here's a little uh,
here's a little betting tip for you guys. One of
the most profitable first half teams to back in the
NBA this year, the Clippers, especially on the road. So
if you if you get an opportunity like last night
where the Clippers were getting points, they were an underdog
(37:34):
on the road in the first half back the Clippers.
The Clippers took a commanding, almost a double digit lead
into the into halftime there yesterday, and uh, give credit
to Dallas. They came out and uh and smoked him
in the second half. They ran it big comeback in
that and a lot of that had to do with
Don Check scoring twenty four points in the second half alone,
(37:57):
and really, when it was all said and done, the
interesting part is that Donteck had an opportunity gave wide
open three point shot as the clock was running out
at the end of regulation, and I mean a wide
opening it right at the top of the key. Had
an opportunity to to drain a three point dont like
(38:19):
we told your thirty six points four and a second half.
So what does he do to tie the game? He
passes it, and of course that means that when he
passes it, um, yeah, it didn't go in. And unfortunately,
when he passes the ball off and you don't get
it too well, you don't take that shot as the
(38:42):
as the leading score of the team. That's going to
raise a few eyebrows. So what can you say? He's
carried this Dallas Mavericks team. Porzingis was still pretty decent
in his first game back, but again Kawhi Leonard scored
eleven points in the fourth quarter, kind of sealing the deal.
Doing what he's doing. He is the managan or with
Or of the NBA guys. He will just dominate and
(39:03):
close out games. And that's exactly what he did again
last night. All Right, we'll talk more about the the
upcoming card and uh the day ahead. We'll do that
next hour as we look to make it rain for you.
But I did want to spend just a couple of
minutes here going to gambling you. That is right, It
is gambling you time. Because as college football is over now,
(39:26):
the only football game left is this Super Bowl. Uh.
We we are seeing more and more of the recreational
betting dollars being pushed into not only the NBA, but
of course college basketball due to the sheer volume of
games that we're gonna have. And again fifty three here tonight. Uh,
(39:47):
but you've also got a whole bunch of betters who
have been following this from the very beginning, and this
is honestly one of our favorite times of year because
with that recreational money hums, inflated lines and great opportunities
for savvy betters to profit from them. So what we
(40:07):
mean by that and what are some of the things.
And we told you it's very important to recognize the
market in in all and every sport. I don't care
what you're betting on, whether it be water polo goal,
what understand the market and the market movement, and understand
the conditions of the market and the conditions right now
over the next couple of weeks are right for over
(40:31):
inflated lines and line movement that goes crazy because the
recreational dollars are going to start flowing in from those
that haven't paid attention to college basketball, that have been
paying all this attention to football, and now now they'll
start diving in and they have the very same tendencies
(40:52):
year after year after year. We're talking about the public.
We're talking about recreational betters in the public. And what
is it that we know about rec creational bettors in
the public. Guys, they love favorites, they also love overs,
and both of those things, yeah, lead up to a
contrarian heaven for those that like to fade the public
(41:18):
and those that like to bet unders and situations. Yes,
that means you can without a doubt to profit big
time and get great value on your plays in college
hoops from this point on, and tonight will be the
perfect example. Try this tonight, Go contrarian, alright, look at
these college games on the board tonight and locate the
(41:41):
most popular and the heavily the most bet games. What
games have the most handled, what games seem to be
the most popular, and look, it's what's happening to the
number and tell me if it's going in the direction
of the favorite, because if it is, okay, that is
a clear indication later that we are going to start
(42:01):
to see and and nothing against the recreational bettors and
Joe public. They know what they know. They everybody bets
for different reasons, but a lot of times they look
at the a P Top twenty five and they pick
a team that happens to have a number next to it,
and they always bet that team, especially if it's playing
a team that doesn't have a number next to it.
(42:23):
And those are the kinds of games, guys, that you'd
be able to go in there as a contrarian, back
the underdog, especially if they're home, and start clearing house
and start making some money. So understanding that the easiest
way to look is go to the televised games tonight, guys,
go to the games that are gonna be maybe have
some national exposure here on the hardwood in college some
(42:46):
of the better well known teams. Take a look at
these games, the Duke, the Kentucky, the Kansas is Um.
Look at conference games, big ten, big twelve teams like
Kansas Kansas State last night. See if the public is
loading up on that favorite. Okay, and and it'll be
easy to detect. Guys, the team you should be betting
(43:08):
is the other way. Just try it. Identify a game
or two here tonight on the card in which we've
got a top twenty five team conference play going up
against the team that's unranked and oh yeah, they're um.
They also happen to be home and they're getting all
of these points. Try to identify a game like that
on the card, either tonight or this weekend and go contrarian.
(43:32):
Don't empty the bank accounts, but go ahead and go
a little bit contrarian and see what happens there on Hold,
it is a great over the next month. It is
a great process for you to go through each and
every day, especially in college basketball, because the more recreational
dollars that flood the market, the better opportunity for you
to profit. Start by going contrarian, identify the big favorites,
(43:58):
and pick yourself and underdog there, and you will see
how much value and how much opportunity is out there
for you guys to be able to profit, especially in
college hoops. Ranked versus unranked conference versus UH conference favorite
versus underdog, home team versus away team. We've been telling
you college hoops very hard for teams to be able
(44:22):
to win multiple games on the road, and a lot
of these conferences, like the Big Ten, are finding it
very difficult. Some of the very good and well known
teams finding it very hard to win on the road.
Now you couple that with the fact that recreational money
floods the market. Backing the favorite, you got yourself an
opportunity for a home underdog across the board. Uh, they
(44:45):
are out there, and of course maybe the best thing
that you can do is keep it here at sports
grid dot com as we will continue to cover not
only college hoops but uh the NBA. But there are
definitely some spots and opportunities for you guys to be
able to profit over the next on and uh, go ahead,
give yourself that little exercise and dominates in college basketball
(45:06):
and put some extra money in your pocket here as
we get ready for the big day coming up in
one to twelve days. Twelve yeah, twelve thirteen days some
along nose lines now a week from this Sunday, Uh,
they will we will have a whole lot of action
and a whole lot to talk about regarding the Super
Bowl in Ian. But coming up next we'll dive into
(45:29):
that part tonight we'll actually put it into use what
we just talked about here for gambling. You. We won't
identify those did underdogs at home tonight at college hoop
for the public just loves the favorite. We'll do that
coming up here on the Bridge dot com. But walk
bring it all down for you again tomorrow. Jun NFL

So now when I see it zooming up to fifty four,
don't get me wrong, they can put up points, but
I feel like this is just gonna get inflated Joe
by the public. It might be already wanted to happen points,
(46:37):
it's like, holy crap, like you've got to be And
I don't think it's done because the public hasn't even
hit it yet. But if you're gonna back under, if
you're thinking under hauled off guys hauled off, this number
is it's just get weekday seven to nine am Eastern
on f N T s Y Radio and on the
Sports Grade Network Hiver Slept Look Hi need your help.
(46:59):
Here's what you this on the morning line Larry Walker,
who was coming near the end of his eligibility to
be able to be voted in this in fact was
the final year, and was he going to get the
necessary se votes? And the answer is um absolutely finally yes. Well,
(47:22):
I think I was quoted earlier as sending something out
that I didn't think it was happening, And I actually
truly meant that I had the had the numbers in
my head and was prepared for no call, and and
then the opposite happened, and that call comes and all
of a sudden, you can't breathe. So it was the
day flew by pretty quick. But when that when that
(47:43):
phone rang and I saw the number, at heart skips
a beat. Larry Walker congratulations appeared on three four of
the ballots there, that is above six more by the way,
just six more ballots then needed to cover that s mark,
but he isn't fact. Finally, on his last, his tenth
and final appearance on the ballot, he finally got enough
(48:05):
votes up from fifty four point six percent last year
just over this year. Uh, Larry Walker is heading in congratulations.
Both of them will be inducted into that Baseball Hall
of Fame July twenty and Cooper's Town, UH. Joining them
will be former catcher Ted Simmons of the UH of
the Milwaukee Brewer era there and the Cardinals. Also, the
(48:28):
former Players Association had Marvin Miller, who was responsible for
getting baseball players the trillions of dollars that they that
they are now enjoying and UH. He was voted in
by the Modern Era Committee. So there was some thought
that even if he didn't get in Larry Walker this year,
that they would have eventually voted him in one of
(48:49):
these committee. But the fact that you have to even
take it to that point in order to get players
like um, you know, Larry Walker in there, that it
takes ten times. It's almost like, now, gonna tell me
what Barry Bonds and uh and and Roger Clemens aren't in. Yeah,
that's exactly what I'm going to tell you, which is
the other joke and a half of all of this.
(49:10):
Kurt Schilling. Yeah, remember Kurt, Kurt, his bloody sock is
actually in uh in Cooper's Town in the Hall of Fame.
He's not, but his bloody sock is. And we all
remember the infamous Bloody Sock ordeal there, I believe it
or not, he finished third. He was at yeah, I know,
he was shilling. It was at seventy eight votes. He
got seventy, so that that was his eighth ballot appearance.
(49:33):
And of course many people bring up the fact that
they don't necessarily agree with his his politics and that
he is a bit of a toolbag, and yeah, he
got I get that, but I'm not really sure what
that has to do with what he did on a
pictures mawn during his career. Butt. Hey, um, that's the
process we have. That's what we've got to live with.
(49:54):
