Speaker 1 (00:02):
Hey there everybody. It is Wednesday, December tenth, and we
have another gift for you on our growing list of
our holiday gift guide. We're all the way up to
gift number eight. TJH.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
This is for gals.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
This is for gals.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Okay. Is it something guys should be paying attention to
get for the goals?

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Possibly yes and definitely yes for it could be any
lady in your life.

Speaker 2 (00:24):
But not even at all. We can't use this when
this is not for fellows at all.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Well, if you would like to have silky smooth, straight hair, I.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Would love it.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
Okay. Well, I don't really think that your length is
going to work with this product.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
I just said I would love it. I know it's
not possible, but it sounds good. Okay, So this is
the hair product.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yes, gift number eight. We're talking about Lounge Hair Smooth
It two in one hot comb straightener Jesus Criminy.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Okay, do I know that brand?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yes, Lunge. Actually I have a lot of information about
this product. I was waiting for your follow up, so
I think I'm prepared. Hopefully I can answer all your questions.
But this is a company that has and is known
for its hair styling products. It's got flat irons and
basically round brushes with air to try and pull your

(01:16):
hair straight. Lots of different ways to make your hair
do what you hope it can do. But this one
in particular is a two in one hot comb and
it gives sleek root to tip results on curvy, wavy,
or textured hair. And so they claim that all hair
types can be straightened with this product.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Okay, tell me this are their products like this on
the market.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yes, I actually had one already at home. Okay to
directly compare it?

Speaker 2 (01:45):
What is new or different? At least? Do they say
why would I want theirs? What's the upside?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Yes? So there is a custom dial on the heat control,
and that's a big deal because some people don't want
to put higher heat temperatures on their hair because it
damages your hair. Heat damages hair. So you can range
from two hundred and thirty degrees fahrenheit all the way
to four hundred and fifty degrees faheit.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
But the other ones would just say low, medium, high.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Sometimes you just have you click it and it moves
up to different like the one I have. I can't
see the temperature, but it just clicks up. You know, yes,
like you know, medium hot, high heat whatever. So at
least you get a precise temperature. You know what you're
putting on your hair, and that's too hot correct, Oh, yes,
and it can damage your hair, so some people don't
want to go to Obviously, the hotter it is, the

(02:30):
more malleable your hair becomes. It also has negative ion technology,
which reduces frizz and boosts shine with less heat. So
that and that. I've definitely had hair products that tout
that same thing too. They also say their curved heated

(02:51):
teeth that's the part of the comb area that you
put in your hair, glides smoothly through the hair with
a lightweight design, a swivel cord, dual voltage, and a
heat shield to make it perfect for everyday use or travel.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Okay, so say the name.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
Of the so and I I'll actually I should spell
it if someone it's easy to see it if you're
reading it. It's l apostrophe a n ge, which is
French for angel. I believe, and this the woman who
is behind these products. Her last name was lang Lange.
Both her parents died young, and so she says they

(03:28):
are like angels looking down on her, and so that's
why she called her company Launch. So Dahlia Lange has
heard that was her maiden name, and she says she
came up with this company because she wanted to empower
people of all hair types. I also love this about
the company. Lunge gives back when you purchase their products

(03:49):
through partnerships with organizations like Susan G Comman, the Rapunzel Project,
and Hair to Stay supporting breast cancer research and resources
for those who are under going chemotherapy. So it's really
cool you can feel good about this company and purchasing
a product from this company because they really are social entrepreneurs.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Okay, I'm familiar with a curling iron, yep? Is this
different very much? Okay? Tell me? Does it do the
same thing that a curling iron does.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Somewhat in the sense that you're using heat and a
wand of sorts to manipulate your hair to do something
it doesn't do natural?

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Okay? Then would you have use in your home for
both of those?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Correct?

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Okay, because a curling iron can make your hair obviously curly.
A flat iron is what this would be replacing in
a lot of ways. It is, and I refusee like
I'm somebody, especially when I was in television every day
and I was obviously lucky enough to have hair and
makeup every day, but I used to always have to
kind of have a little bit of a tussle with
the new hairstylist to say, please, please, please do not

(04:57):
flat iron my hair because it does so much damage.
I mean, you're talking about putting hair between two hot
irons basically, and yes, it's effective. Your hair will straighten,
but it's a lot of heat and a lot of deat,
and you're pulling it. The comb actually glides through your
hair and it's hot. It's a hot comb. Basically, it

(05:19):
is a hot comb.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Wait, not a flat iron.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
It's not a flat iron. Okay, it would replace the
flat iron.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
You would never have if you do whatever you do
with this product, you don't need a flat iron. It's
not going to do anything different or better.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Well, the flat iron is more effective, for sure, because
it uses intense heat, but it damages your hair. So
a lot of people don't want to use a flat iron.
I am in that camp. I do not want to
use a flat iron on my hair because it damages
your hair. And if you're doing this every day to
your hair. You definitely want to have less heat and
more flexibility, so the comb technology doesn't put as much

(05:54):
direct heat on your hair as intensely.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
What's the title again of it? It's called a.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
What it's called lounge hair smooth It two in one
hot comb straightener, Jesus crime.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
Two in one. What's the two?

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Well, the two is that it's the comb. I think
the two and one is that you get the the
heat to straighten your hair, but you also get the
negative ion technology that reduces frizz and boosts shine. So
you're getting two things that are happening to your hair
with this one comb. Now, this morning, early, early, early,
I came in, so you do this on dry hair.

(06:32):
So I obviously I woke up and my hair was
messed up from the bed and all wacky. And normally
when I sit down here to do work in the morning,
I have my hair what.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Uh uh in a messy little I usually can't tell
what it is you have going on back there.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
It's a messy top bun is basically what I do
every morning when I pray.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
That makes it sound nice, it's just a mess.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
I think it looks cute. I pay attention to the
mirror before I sit down. I know it's a little wacky,
but it's deliberately messy. Anyway, this morning, do you remember
I walked out differently.

Speaker 2 (07:08):
Uh yeah, you walked out asking me questions about your hair,
and that's different. I really didn't notice anything because half
of it was whatever. I didn't know you had done
something to the other side, so I assume, yeah, it's
a lopside. It's never together, it never looks the same
in the morning.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
Okay, So the left side of my hair I put
through this smooth it two in one hot come straightener,
and the right side of my hair I just let
it be jacked up. Clearly, there was a difference between
the two sides. Of course, Yes, the left side was
straight and smooth and sleek, and the right side was not.
So obviously even you could tell that one side of

(07:45):
my hair looked much better than the other.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
But I would have been able to tell that if
you used any flat iron or it's okay, that was
my question, but I chose to notice something extraordinary about it.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
So today, So then now cut to me running, showering,
blowing my hair, and now I just ran the comb
through my hair. Again, does it look straighter to you
than it normally?

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Does?

Speaker 1 (08:08):
I don't know, Yeah I can, I can tell you
that it is. It is one hundred percent I know,
oh wow, like normally I had. And look, the thing
is with the nice thing about this comb is it
doesn't have to be stick straight like ironboard straight. I mean,
if you want that, you can do it. But you
can also manipulate it a little bit, so there's a
little bend at the end. So it is nice you

(08:28):
can do and I know you can do that a
little bit with a flat iron two. But I just
hate how thin my hair gets with a flat iron. It.
Actually it seals your hair follicles, so that like I
have basically wavy hair that's frizzy, and so I have
to pull it straight. My hair is not naturally straight,
you know that, But when I flat iron it, it

(08:49):
gets really thin and limp, and I don't like the
way it looks. So this actually is kind of a
balance between the two where you get a straighter look,
but it still has fullness to it because it hasn't
flattened it out completely.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
Okay, permission to speak? Really, Yes, you didn't sound confident.

Speaker 1 (09:08):
I don't know what you're about to do.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Well, I say, I'm going to compliment you when you
are your hair looks. I don't want to attribute it
to this utensil, but you used it for the fine
you Whenever these days you get dulled up or your
hair is really done, it's up when we're going out
to an event almost always. The only time I often

(09:32):
now see you take it down or it's freshly done
is when you come straight from the salon correct or
if you have some event that you or something you
think you want to be in front of a camera.
You like to do your hair a certain way. All
of those ways, when it's down or straight, they're big,
they're puffy. This is my favorite way you wear your
hair straight because it doesn't include all that and the sprays.

(09:55):
It's just long and it's this is the best that
you wear your hair in generally speaking. So I'm not
just saying it's because of this item.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Yes, because and I will say that is a problem.
The puffiness is not. Sometimes people tease their hair, and
in the eighties I absolutely did trying to make my
hair big, like my hair did not fit into But
I know what I'm trying to say, is I actually
hate when it gets big, and I don't like it
completely flat and lifeless and limp. But my hair is

(10:25):
so like curly and porous that when I blow it out,
it does get big, and it's embarrassing to me because
I don't want to have nineteen eighties Mariah Cara carry
hair like I want it to be work for her.
It did right, and in the eighties it all worked.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (10:40):
I used to say I thoroughly leaned in and enjoyed
the eighties with my hair. There is photographic evidence. I
don't want to do that now. So I actually thought
this was nice too, because I still have a little body,
but it's straight and it doesn't look like big hair.
I don't like the big pageant hair. Yes, all right,
so cool. You gave it a samp of approval. That

(11:00):
is very cool.

Speaker 2 (11:01):
Al Right, your hair, not the product. All right.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
When we come back, we're going to talk about what
the Amazon reviews say about this product, because I think
that's actually so significant. We'll tell you where you can
buy it, obviously, Amazon is a part of it, and
we'll tell you a little bit more about the brand,
and we'll tease ahead to tomorrow's gift Welcome back everyone.

(11:32):
We are on gift number eight in our holiday gift
guide and we're talking about the Lauge l Apostrophe, a
n Ge hair smooth it two in one hot comb straightener.
And I really enjoyed this product. I think it does
a great job. I love the fact that you can

(11:54):
pick the temperature you want to use for your hair
that works best for you, that does the least amount
of damage. And I love this company and how it
was founded and how it gives back. I think it's
really really, really cool. And I love the founder of
this organization, Dahlia her maiden name was launched, but I
think it's now it's Dhalia Hadari is who is the

(12:17):
president of this company. But she created this company because
she wanted to pick create products that actually are that
address unique hair concerns. So it's not just for one
set of hair, but for everyone different types of hair.
And she really wanted to create these products at affordable
price points, and so that's a big part of this.

(12:39):
And she also if you go on their website, they
have how to tutorials, how to use the products, how
to take care of your hair, how to take care
of what you're buying from them anyway. I just think
it's cool. It's all encompassing. It's not just a product
that someone just put out in mass production. This is
actually a product that seems like someone cares about it
and cares about who's using it and how they're using it.

(13:01):
That does matter when you're choosing between lots of different products.
And so Amazon reviews actually one hundred percent back that up.
Seventy five percent of the Amazon reviews were five and
four stars. I think that's huge. Do you look at
reviews before you buy things?

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Never? There don't because usually I'm not trying stuff seriously,
I'm know what I get. Even if I'm going to
buy a TV, I know I stick with Samsung. If
I'm getting audio equipment, I'm getting both, right, I don't
usually have a lot of chance to try something new.
I'm setting my ways.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
So what about even buying a gift for someone and
you want to weigh, like, compare all the different types
of products. No, you don't look at I always look
at right. I think reviews are huge. Would you ever
leave a review?

Speaker 2 (13:48):
I don't think I ever have wanted to, because I've
had really horrible experiences here or there to the point
that you want to do something, and we've had the
experience where I want to warn somebody about this, So no, no,
but people feel strongly enough they want to come in
on a hot comb.

Speaker 1 (14:01):
To your point, though, I feel like most reviews to
get somebody to go and leave one usually it's because
they're pissed or there's a negative review. So I actually
feel like when you have a preponderance overwhelming majority of
reviews being really positive, that speaks volumes because I don't
think a lot of people feel as strongly when they

(14:23):
like something versus how strongly they feel when they don't
like something and they want to warn someone about it.
So I take those reviews seriously. I think it's a
big deal and very cool. So yes, you can buy
this product at Lange hair dot com. So that's l
A N G E h ai R dot com. And

(14:43):
again they have a lot of other bits of information
about the company, about the product. It's just it's a
great website. I really enjoyed it. Or of course you
can go onto Amazon, and I don't know how people
feel about the price. It's more expensive than I have
spent the one that I had in our cabinet was

(15:03):
probably about half the price, but it doesn't have the
bells and whistles, and I honestly haven't really used it
that much.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
I have no idea. I'll just say one hundred and
fifty outs.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Oh wow, Okay, so that'll be good because it's only
sixty nine dollars.

Speaker 2 (15:15):
Oh Christ, Okay, that's not bad.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
So it's a good gift. And I do think for
anyone who's got wavy hair, frizzy hair, likes to straighten
their hair, and maybe you've heard them talk about they
don't like the flat iron, they don't like to overprocess
their hair. This is a great, great, great product, and
I think it would be a good gift.

Speaker 2 (15:34):
What if you have hair that some would generally understand
to be black hair.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Yes, So some of the reviews that I saw on it,
there were a few I think I saw three or
four where women of color said this is a great product.
I can tell it is, but it ain't working for
my hair and said, look, I've got this type of
hair and it's just not working. And I'm sure it
works great on most other hair, but nothing works on mine.
So I did see some women of color say that

(16:02):
just as a warning to other women of color. Hey,
make sure you know your hair and what it can do.
And you might think this product is gonna help, but
it didn't help mine.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
So what do we do with that? Oftentimes, empower people
with all hair types except empower except y'all. Didn't make
this for y'all. Because I made it for y'all, then
I might miss out. I'm not criticizing the company for this,
but that frustration is there. You start, when you started,
I intentionally didn't ask you. In the first part of
it sounds great, sounds great, all hair tipes boom, boom, boom,

(16:30):
And then we get to this part, and I understand
we got some unique hair. I grew up watching a
literal comb on the fire, open flame on the stove,
sitting there getting hot, and my mother would pick it
up and run it through my sister's hair. Wow, that

(16:52):
is what I know to for a hot comb to
be and what it took to straighten my sister's hair. Yeah,
we don't have the same hair type. I haven't had
to say. I got it from my mama's eyes.

Speaker 1 (17:03):
She's like, she's like, man, how is that fair?

Speaker 2 (17:06):
She got some of that country hair from my daddy.
Sorry to just love you, but you understand what I'm
I just that's always a curious thing.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
That And there were other women of colors that it
work great on. Mind, but as you know, obviously, there
are so many different I mean, Sabine will come in
and say I have curled to c or whatever I like.
They actually they know the chart of what their hair is,
and so yes, I don't know if at a certain
point on the chart it's not gonna work. But it

(17:34):
did seem like the majority of people, and especially women
of color, saying, look, my hair is really curly, but
it's so specific.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
How about that you know Sabine's hair, Well, with this
product work onio?

Speaker 1 (17:47):
It would work on her work. Yes, I absolutely think
it would.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Work on her hair. We'll let it try it out.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
Yeah, you know what. It's sitting in the house and
ready to go. So yes, we hope you enjoyed that.
And yeah, I would definitely put my stamp of approval
on this product. All right. Actually, wait, I have to
look and see what tomorrow's product is. Oh wait, I
do know what it is. So it's not just about

(18:14):
a male or female. Actually, everybody can purchase this product.
But usually you want to be rooting for someone if
you have something or someone you're rooting for. This next gift,
I didn't have a good tea. Wait, you know what
it is? How would you tease it?

Speaker 2 (18:31):
I don't even know what the product is. Listening to you,
I'm sitting at the stack. I'm looking at the stack
of products, and I don't know what this is.

Speaker 1 (18:37):
All right, I'm holding it up. Here's the product.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
The products for anybody who wants to upgrade their college
rooting experience. How about that?

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Oh? Thanks?

Speaker 2 (18:49):
You know what.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I can't believe I forgot to think about a tea.
So thank you for stepping in and stepping up. Man.
All right, well, I'm gonna be so ready tomorrow for
gift number nine. Y'all just wait, But thank you for
listening to us. We appreciate you as always. Happy shopping everyone.
I'm Amy Roboc alongside DJ Holmes. We'll talk to you soon.
