This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
with iHeartRadio.
Speaker 2 (00:06):
Hey guys, it's the Almost Nice podcast.
Speaker 3 (00:08):
It's just me today, but I have two of two
other hosts, actually two other very prominent hosts in this world,
The Bachelor Happy Hour podcast host Joe and Serena.
Speaker 4 (00:20):
Hello all, Hello, thanks, welcome.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
Miss you guys, like truly miss you guys. I would
love to see you soon sometime.
Speaker 5 (00:28):
Yeah, we were hoping. We were hoping you were going
to be here.
Speaker 3 (00:31):
Yeah, we thought you would be you know, Country Foot's
when you're when you're a mom.
Speaker 2 (00:38):
It's just like, it's a lot. It's a lot. Sometimes
it's nice. They get me over there on the other
coast for Jonahs brother concerts.
Speaker 4 (00:45):
You were just here for the Jonas Brothers.
Speaker 5 (00:47):
Did you watch the Jonahs Brother's Christmas Movie?
Speaker 2 (00:49):
Did you love it?
Speaker 4 (00:51):
We started it and then Joe was like, oh, this
is a musical. I don't know, let's watch something else.
But I'm definitely circling back. My sister's watched it like
three times already. Really, Oh, you know, it's really happy,
easy watch you throw it on in the background. It's like,
so Christmas. Yon, they're coming up with camp Rock three.
Speaker 2 (01:07):
Did you see?
Speaker 3 (01:08):
Yes? I hope that Camp Rock three kind of follows
the methodology that this movie has because it's so of
our age, like it was made for thirty somethings who've
been fans of the Jonas brothers. It's so funny, it's
really well scripted. It's I think it's genuinely enjoyable to
(01:30):
anybody who's not a fan.
Speaker 2 (01:31):
But if you're a fan, like everything is hilarious.
Speaker 4 (01:34):
Yeah, I feel like it's rotten tomato score was decent, it.
Speaker 2 (01:37):
Was it's in the nineties.
Speaker 4 (01:39):
Yeah, yeah, oh was it in the nineties.
Speaker 5 (01:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Jared you know, big movie critic, and he was like,
that was an enjoyable watch, so so you should have.
I think you probably turned it off during Best Night,
which is a fantastic song, but it's the beginning of
like everything is very tongue in chee can, very self aware.
Speaker 5 (02:01):
So I just don't I just don't love music.
Speaker 4 (02:03):
No, it's a nine tomato eater.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Yeah, yeah, it's a it's supposed to be a funny musical, like,
oh my gosh, they're bursting out in song now it's
so ridiculous, like self aware, that's ridiculous.
Speaker 4 (02:14):
Okay, gonna watch it.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
So yeah, let's circle back or thanks thanks to it
for me. So, Joe, you just ran the New York
City marathon. My our nanny just ran too, and she
was kind of excited that there's so many Bachelor Nation runners.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Where did you place amongst everyone?
Speaker 5 (02:33):
I placed pretty well. I did a three. Sorry, I
lost my voice this weekend, so you hear the raspiness
and I apologize to your I apologize to your listeners.
I placed people like it. I did a three forty nine.
My goal was like three thirty five, which I was
pacing out for and then like around mile seventeen, I
(02:56):
just I just slowed down because I got I just
my body just kind of gave out.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
But his last marathon, he ran a three fifty nine,
so he was trying to shave off like thirty minutes.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Impressive.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yeah, Joe, is this your second marathon?
Speaker 5 (03:13):
Then second marathon? Yeah? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Why?
Speaker 3 (03:17):
How I just don't understand. It's mind boggling to me.
How what's the fear level?
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Like I just question.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
You know what?
Speaker 5 (03:28):
It's not. I don't it's it's I don't have any
fear going into it. And honestly, when people ask me,
I'm like, I get more nervous, and I go like,
I don't have to speak, you know, I don't have
to like step on stage and do something that's more
nerve wracking than just like running. It gets just really
what you what you worry about, and it happens. It
(03:50):
happened to me both times. Is stomach cramps. Because you
can't run through stomach cramps. It's really hard. Yeah, So
I just I just focused on my breath and my
breath work, and then usually I run. I do end
up running through it, but if those get really bad,
you're done. And then and then you're like you don't
want to be the person mile five, miles six and
(04:12):
you have to start walking because then it's gonna take
five hours, six hours to finish, and that's horrible.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Did you run into anyone from Bachelor?
Speaker 5 (04:21):
Yeah, I mean I I run with Release, which is
Zach Clark's charity foundation. And then in the in the tent,
I mean I saw Matt James and Taysha were both there,
and and Tyler I saw him and his girlfriend.
Speaker 3 (04:38):
How was the interaction between you and Taysha, because I
know that you guys have a.
Speaker 5 (04:44):
Oh we're yeah, we're cool. Yeah, yeah, we're cool.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
And yeah, okay, so you basically saw everyone.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
What is your treat afterward? How do you reward yourself?
Speaker 5 (04:57):
I like the first year was much more rewarding. I
remember I was like, I wanted, I want to get
shake shack and I did. This year.
Speaker 2 (05:07):
I don't even remember what we ordered.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
I ordered. I ordered a pizza. It was great, but
I was in so much pain because I had I
ran with like ankle compression sleeves and I never ran
with those before, and they cut off in the middle
of my foot. So I ended up getting two massive
blisters and they broke open and I just when I
finished the race, both socks were full of blood. Yeah yeah,
(05:31):
so it took it. Honestly, my recovery this time was
about a week. I got infections, I had to go
to the doctor. It was a little rough.
Speaker 3 (05:40):
So why why do you do it? It is the
charity component, because that is a good answer me. The
charity compon just rather donate the money online.
Speaker 5 (05:50):
That's fair. That's fair. I I am somebody that loves
working towards a goal. I enjoy running. It's it's therapy
to me. I don't know if I'll ever do another
marathon because I don't want to lose the enjoyment of it,
because I do enjoy running. I do enjoying running slow
and long, and yeah, I think it's working towards the call.
(06:14):
I enjoy that.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
Yeah, Saruna, how are you when he's training? And then
what do you do on the day of with the marathon?
Do you like go to a different point?
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Yeah. Zach's foundation release has like a watch spot at
the eighteenth mile, so I went there and watched him
run by there and then I book it to the
finish line. The first year I failed, I got to
the eighteenth mile, we saw him, he saw me. It
was great, and then we were like, oh, like, we
have tons of time, we'll walk to the finish line.
(06:49):
And then we were running to the finish line and
then there was like a thirty minute wait to get
to the finish line and we missed him and it
was devastating. But this year we had the schedule on lock,
so we hit him up at the eighteenth mile. He
ran right past me, didn't see me. I'm like screaming
his name. I was all the time.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I'm waving it.
Speaker 5 (07:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I totally missed them. Well, because you
know what you guys said eight mile eighteen and you
were at mile seventeen.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I think I said we were right before mile eighteen. Yeah,
miss there's a huge flag that says release. He's not
even looking around, he's just dead paying forward. But we
got to the finish line, which was great and exciting,
and you saw me there.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
I mean, I am a little you know, I'm running
a marathon.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
So I'm really stressed because I was like, I have
his snacks and if he wants them and he starts
looking for me later, he's going to think that like
I didn't go or I missed it, like I was.
I have one job and I want him to know
like I completed this.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
I was here for you.
Speaker 4 (07:50):
Yes, but you said you didn't end up needing them,
so it's it all worked out. It's fine. Yeah, and
I got to see you, which was cool.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
Oh so sweet.
Speaker 3 (08:00):
Well, guys, you have been living in New York for
a while now, do you still love it?
Speaker 2 (08:04):
We do, Yeah, we do.
Speaker 6 (08:05):
We do.
Speaker 5 (08:05):
It's a problem. It's a problem because we just keep
renewing our least.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
We want to want to leave, We want to want
to go somewhere else and get a bigger apartment and
not pay crazy money and rent, and like you wake
up in New York and they charge one hundred dollars
just to be there.
Speaker 2 (08:19):
It feels like, but we love it.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
I feel like even just like in the suburbs, it's
just one hundred dollars to leave the house.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
Yeah, it's crazy, but like we love not having a car,
and we love the food scene and all the things.
So every year around this time we do the like
should we leave, should we resign? And yeah, I think
we'll probably research a.
Speaker 5 (08:37):
Great time a year in New York too, like the
holiday season, Like it's just so nice.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:42):
I just can't believe that Joe, after spending his entire
life in Chicago, thinks that New York is better.
Speaker 5 (08:50):
It's well, Chicago's a funny city. Chicago. I mean, I
love Chicago. I'm from Chicago. But like in growing up
in Chicago, the mentality is this is the greatest city
in the world. Then that's what everyone will tell you.
And so many people don't even leave Chicago and they're
like this is the best.
Speaker 6 (09:04):
It's like, well how do you keep They are like
when you go to Chicago, people from Chicago are like,
this is the best city in the world, without a doubt.
Speaker 4 (09:14):
They feel so passionately about their city.
Speaker 5 (09:17):
Yeah, but I do. I believe that New York is
the best. It is my favorite.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
All right.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
Well, when you guys decide to have kids, I'm sure
that that is when the whole are we going to
renew our least thing might change? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Definitely.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
Well, yeah we can't.
Speaker 4 (09:31):
We're right now in the debate of like, could we
even fit a dog in this apartment if we wanted to,
which I genuinely don't think we could. One we could,
but then it's like the crate and the dog bed
and the food, Like we don't have any room right
now for anything extra. Yeah, so it's like, how are
we supposed to fit another human being?
Speaker 5 (09:48):
Not a chance to say a human being?
Speaker 4 (09:50):
No, I'm just she was saying, like, when you eventually
try to have kids, that's going to be the instigator.
Speaker 5 (09:55):
But we can't have a kid in a six hundred
and fifty square foot apartment. We just can't.
Speaker 4 (09:58):
No. I mean you could, but it's not gonna be fun.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Do you guys have separate areas that you can retreat to?
Speaker 4 (10:15):
No, Well, we have the living room slash kitchen area,
which like you walk into the main area and then
we have like a little mini hallway that goes into
our bedroom where you can shut.
Speaker 3 (10:23):
The door there, so it's somebody watches TV in the yeah, totally.
Speaker 4 (10:29):
Or like if we both have a call at the
same time, like he has a desk in the kitchen area,
he can like take it there and then I take
out like my vanity in the bedroom.
Speaker 2 (10:35):
Or the outdoors, got it, the outdoors? What do you mean,
like on the streets.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
Yeah, go for a walk.
Speaker 4 (10:40):
Oh yeah, if you're like I need some solo time,
you can take a walk.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Yeah, it's the best place to take a walk. I
would say I would prefer a city walk. I think
that's more soulful to me than taking a walk like
out in grassy areas. The good thing in New York
is there's always people walking, like you're never it never
feels weird or you're out there by yourself, like there's
all these people walking around, whereas I do feel like
coming to like La or even in some areas of Chicago,
(11:07):
you're walking around and it's just dead because everyone's in
their cars. Yeah, so you guys obviously talk about Bachelor
for a living in some capacity. What do you think
about Taylor Frankie Paul being the Bachelorette.
Speaker 5 (11:22):
I love it.
Speaker 4 (11:22):
I love it too.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
I think it's honestly.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
So we're on the same page. We all want the
we all wanted to go forward, right. I think this
is probably the best thing.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
It's good for the franchise. We love Mormon Wives. Do
you watch Mormon Wives.
Speaker 3 (11:36):
I've watched pretty much most of the first season, so
I have to catch up and I will, of course
by the time her her series yeah starts.
Speaker 4 (11:45):
Well, they're almost unfilming, so I'm curious to hear a
little bit how it went.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
They're going through Thanksgiving.
Speaker 3 (11:51):
Do you think they took that week off or do
you think that like she did Thanksgiving with families?
Speaker 4 (11:58):
Good point, they did film through Thanksgiving. I don't know,
maybe they.
Speaker 5 (12:03):
Did like a I'm sure they took that day off.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
You think, yeah, maybe.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yeah, they probably took a couple of days off there.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Yeah, So anything about what do you have thoughts of
that's like topical in Bachelor Nation, I feel like Alex
and Andrew are definitely on their way to marriage, and
then we have Dale and Kad who just broke up,
and we think that that's no surprise.
Speaker 4 (12:29):
Yeah, have either of them put out a statement. No,
it was just like confirmed by a source that they've
broken up, right sort of.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
Yeah, Well that that's the interesting thing about Bachelor and
Paradise Now there's I don't think there's not as much
emphasis on the couple because of the game element. I
don't feel like you have to be like almost putty
even put out an announcement, where prior it did feel
like the only thing at the end was like what
(12:59):
you won was the relationship, And I feel like now
because of the money element, you win a little more.
So I don't know, like it basically it didn't seem
weird to me that Cat and Dale didn't put anything
out where I think prior.
Speaker 4 (13:12):
Years it totally would have been weird prior year, Yes,
but I agree, Yeah, I don't think anyone was like
what happened, Like where's the statement? Like where's in the past.
It would be like so much speculation all the things happening.
I think people just kind of like we're like, yeah, okay,
like accepted it. But they also haven't.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
I mean I follow both of them, they don't haven't
really been posting a lot together, so it's not like
they didn't post anything with each other until since September
they haven't.
Speaker 4 (13:36):
Okay, Yeah, so I feel like it's different when like
a couple's posting up a storm and then all of
a sudden, the next day it's like the rings off
and the statements up, and then everyone's kind of jarred.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
Well, normally we see them have to like have a
conclusion moment where people get engaged or break up. Yeah,
and since they didn't force that this year, if you're
just breaking up as boyfriend and girlfriend, it's just not
that as big of a deal.
Speaker 4 (14:00):
I do feel like those, like the structure of where
it's like either break up or go to fantasy suites
and then either break up or get engaged, makes the
stakes of the relationship feel so much more intense because
you've like shown a commitment to each other twice on
the show of like now we're doing this, and I
feel like not having that it really Yeah, Like when
(14:21):
I think back to the season of Paradise, I really
think way more about the game element than I do
about the relationships.
Speaker 5 (14:26):
Yeah. Yeah, I'm curious to see if they keep doing that.
Speaker 4 (14:29):
I feel like it'll be like a cherry picking situation.
They'll keep some stuff, they'll let go of other stuff.
Because it was a lot of newness this season. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
I was talking to Joan and Kathy and season and
we were saying that actually it kind of worked out
because Alex's life totally changed without the student loans.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Yeah, I mean that's true. Or you know, maybe they
don't do the game element and the season's way bigger
and she makes a lot of money doing Brandyal's.
Speaker 3 (14:52):
Other things after loans. That way good critical thinking. I
have Grant coming on. I think after you guys, Yeah,
what do we ask Grant about?
Speaker 4 (15:05):
Well, we just had Juliana on the podcast.
Speaker 2 (15:10):
Exactly.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
She was telling you guys that they pretty much broke
up right after after the final rose, or at least
it was a big fight, and then he had spent
time planning the statement.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
I would ask him, I guess he had some options
that he presented to her of like, hey, these are
the ways we could roll out our breakup. I would
ask him what his options are, and I would rank
them from best to worst.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (15:40):
I would also ask him what happened to his music career,
you know, his passion for music seems to have gone
mia and when's the next t getting released?
Speaker 3 (15:50):
Well, we also have, you know, the dating show that
he's like didn't give advice on.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Wait what philis did?
Speaker 2 (15:58):
He teased that he had a show coming where he
was going to be like the dater, like the.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Guy was the dating coach, the dating coach. Is this
like a real show or is this like a series
that he was going to do?
Speaker 3 (16:10):
Ask I should it something that he was going to
put together?
Speaker 4 (16:13):
Okay, he was going to put together a Instagram series
or something coaching people?
Speaker 3 (16:18):
Yeah, So then just just the last question about Juliana,
did Juliana tell you anything about their breakup that it
should definitely be addressed with him?
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Hmmm? I mean the main thing was that big fight, yeah,
and then him saying like, you know, I've kind of
think we should announce it, and she wasn't really there yet.
I think you would also ask like, how did those
next couple months ago, Like you obviously had this big fight,
you were ready to roll out a breakup statement, and
(16:50):
then you know, we we chatted with them, they were
still together like a few months later, So like what happened?
Why didn't why did it last so much longer after
you were like read to drop it on Instagram.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Thank you, thank you for the ideas.
Speaker 4 (17:04):
You're welcome. I hope it goes great. For wishing them
both the best.
Speaker 3 (17:09):
Thanks well, Thanks guys, it's always so wonderful to see
you have a great time at jingle Ball.
Speaker 4 (17:13):
Thanks, we'll miss you.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
Bye.
