Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ an iHeartRadio Podcast. Good
morning everyone, Thanks for joining us for today's Morning Run.
It is Wednesday, September seventeenth.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm Amy Robot and I'm TJ Holmes And did you hear?
Did you see? My Saint Helen's is erupting? At least
that's what it looks like. How can that not be
an eruption if you haven't seen, it's certainly got people going,
had airline pilots and a bit of a frenzy. Mount
Saint Helen's looked like it was.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Erupting, looked like being the operative phrase. There is an
actual explanation that is no cause for alarm.

Speaker 2 (00:35):
And it was decades in the making. It's kind of
an interesting store. We'll get into that. Also, the case
of the missing Beyonce music. They have arrested the guy
who stole her music. This was a big deal. Her
unreleased There is unreleased Beyonce music out there and it
was stolen. This was a big deal. But they caught
the guy.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Now ropes Yeah, but unfortunately they don't have the music.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
We'll explain what's going on here and what is going
on there could be some unreleased Beyonce music floating around
out there, So there is actually would you ransom it back?
What would you do?

Speaker 1 (01:07):
No? Right, you can't, you can't. That's giving in to terrorism, right,
Like you.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Know, I'm saying as the criminal, would you ransom?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
I mean, you could try, but it's gonna blow up
in your face. There's no way you can avoid being
caught doing that.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I will tell you what's happening, and I'll tell you
what's happening in Hot Lanta. Also, Robert Redford, what's your
favorite you have? What movie of his? I think a
lot of people go back to his classics. I'm trying,
I I am, this is not too classic. I guess
indecent proposal. He was, he was.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
He was amazing. You know, I haven't given thought to
it the way we were with Barbaris Streisand I saw
it once when I was younger. He was dashing, and
I know, but people talk about Butch Cassidy and the
Sun Dance Kid, all.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
The President's Men. For me, all right, journalists, that movie
was unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
But yes, that was amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
We're looking back. Yes, we got word early yesterday. In fact,
we had just wrapped our morning run and we got
word of his passing, so a lot of you of
course been reflecting and talking about him throughout the day yesterday,
but we're also going to give him a nod here
on the morning run. Also heads up to you, as
always subscribe top right corner of the screen, click that
button that says follow on your Apple podcast app and

(02:20):
you can get our updates anytime coming directly to you.
Also in the run this morning, charges against the alleged
Charlie Kirk assassin those have been announced. Also charges dropped
against Luigi MANGIONI will explain Trump greeted by Epstein on
his UK trip and robes what the hell with cash Patel?

(02:41):
If you all didn't see this yesterday, I hope nobody
used the word entertaining. This was embarrassing at times.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Yeah, and he was I'm gonna say this in a
nice way. He was feisty.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Hell, we don't want to just put it on him
when we say embarrassing. It was an embarrassing event environment
to see completely that are that a congression hearing about
some of the most serious matters on the planet. Divulge
into this. We'll get into that and why we could
see more of the same today.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Yes, adults acting like children. More of that to come,
but we begin our run in Utah and the alleged
Charlie Kirkussasen made that first court appearance. It happened late yesterday.
It was virtual, so he physically was not in the courtroom,
but he sat alone in a room. There was a
white cement wall behind him. He was wearing an oversized

(03:28):
vest that looked like a flak jacket. Reportedly it was
an anti suicide vest. We had questions about that because
it seemed odd that he would need a bulletproof vest
or something in a room by himself. But now it's
an anti suicide vest.

Speaker 2 (03:43):
You made that point yesterday, but looking at it for
the naked eye, looked like nothing but a flag jacket
to me. But yeah, why would he? So they explain
now that I mean because some of the reports that
came out from the prosecutor, his mom said that he
was he implied that he was going to take his
own life after the shooting. So he is essentially trying
to keep him from harming himself and possibly killing himself.

(04:06):
Now he during this hearing that only went about fifteen minutes,
judge read the seven charges against him, but he showed
no emotion as he heard the charges, which included witness tampering,
obstruction of justice, aggravated murder. He will be assigned a
public defender now. His next scheduled court appearance is September
the twenty ninth. Now.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
Prior to Robinson's court appearance, the prosecutor held a news
conference in which he released a ton of new details
about the investigation, including what can only be described as
a fascinating, insightful text exchange between Robinson and his roommate.
And we say roommate, but this was actually Robinson's girlfriend.

(04:46):
This was a biological male who was transitioning to a female.
But he refers to her as my love. So I know,
we keep saying roommate, but they were by all accounts,
boyfriend girlfriend.

Speaker 2 (04:59):
We keep saying roommate because authorities keep saying roommate from
the very beginning. This is a roommate that he was
in a romantic relationship with.

Speaker 1 (05:07):
That's so strange. You would never say that if it
were a biological male and a biological female. You would
absolutely say his girlfriend, or they're.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
Dating or something. But they keep saying roommate, roommate, So
we just want to give that context as we continue
on here. So the roommate exchange all these text messages.
So these texts were released by the prosecutors yesterday, and
they start with Robinson, the suspect, telling his roommate and
I quote, drop what you are doing. Look under my
keyboard now, authority say. The roommate followed the instructions and

(05:38):
found a note, and that note read I had the
opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I'm going to
take it. And at that point the roommate text Robinson back,
what you're joking, right.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
And then Robinson responds, I am still okay, my love,
but am stuck in orum for a little while longer
yet shouldn't be long until I can come home, but
I gotta grab my rifle still. To be honest, I
had hoped to keep this secret till I died of
old age. I'm sorry to involve you. Then the roommate
says you weren't the one who did it right, with
a ton of exclamation a ton of question marks. Robinson responds,

(06:14):
I am, I'm sorry.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
Now. At one point in the exchange, the roommate asks
Robinson the question that so many people have been asking why,
what is the motive here? Why did you do this?
Now police have said they officially at least they haven't
identified a motive. But this in the suspect's own words
when he was asked why he did it, His response quote,
I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be

(06:39):
negotiated out. If I am able to grab my rifle unseen,
I will have left no evidence going to attempt to
retrieve it again. Hopefully they have moved on. I haven't
seen anything about them finding it now. According to the text,
Robinson said he'd been planning the shooting about a week.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Man. I mean that was just some incredible insight. We
actually go through the entire hearing and all the information
we learned in the podcast right before this. So if
you want to go into more detail here more about it,
please check that out. It should be the episode right
before this one. But next up on the Run, a
judge threw out some charges against Luigi Mangioni in what
his lawyer called a big win and the first of many.

(07:21):
Mangioni is no longer facing state terrorism charges after the
court ruled the state did not show sufficient evidence to
support such charges.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah, the state was making the argument that Mangioni intended
to invoke terror when he shot and killed United Healthcare
CEO Brian Thompson last year on a Manhattan street, but
the judge rejected the argument, saying that something is not
terrorism just because you're motivated by ideology.

Speaker 1 (07:46):
Hmm. I believe that the Justice Department now and a
lot of prominent dem Republicans would disagree with that, because
that's exactly what they're trying to say terrorism is. At
least that's what we've been hearing in recent days. He
is still facing Manji is still facing a second degree
murder charge, but with those dropped charges, he's no longer
facing a possible mandatory life sentence without the possibility of

(08:09):
parole in his stage case. But however, this has zero
impact on his federal case, in which he is also
facing the death penalty.

Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah, his next quarter parents is scheduled for December. And
another big thing here we mentioned at the top. That's
kind of a big deal to hear the lawyer say
this was just the first victory of many to come,
and you say, what the hell does that mean? And
maybe he's just being normal with attorney bluster but this

(08:37):
comes from attorney you know and you know well, and
who just pulled off one of the biggest victories arguably
in celebrity serious crime history. We're talking about Mark Agnifilo.
This was Diddy's lawyer. He is now representing Luigi Mangioni

(08:58):
along with his wife, who was doing the duty. She
was representing Mangioni while her husband was representing Diddy during
the trial. This is an unbelievable household.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Well, yes, then apparently that star power translates. I would
imagine if you see that kind of a victory or
that kind of capability, you think that's who I want.
Now you have to be able to afford him. But
Mangioni comes from a very affluent family reportedly, so I
guess they can afford that type of representation. All right.
Next up on the run, President Trump and the First

(09:30):
Lady are in the UK for Trump's unprecedented second state visit.
The trip will include pageantry and politics, and maybe mostly pageantry.
He got the full red carpet Royal Air Force treatment
upon arrival last night. That there was a photo that
was stunning and has everyone talking about Milania's berbery, full

(09:54):
length flowing trench coat.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
You couldn't stage it better as a photograph of her
doing a photo shoot for Berbery.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
I said you should. They should blow that up and
hang out above the fireplace. It was a gorgeous photo there.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
Really want to blow of the coke at the bottom?
Was Are you serious?

Speaker 1 (10:11):
Yeah? Burbery should be able to use that as an
ad because it really I mean, if you look at
top stories and some of the websites, it's trending the
picture Milania. Well it's Malania Trump's Birbery trench code. Everyone
wants it. Wow, I mean she sold it, she sold it.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
Well, oh well, all right, well today let's get back
to the trip. We said pageantry and politics. We didn't
mention fashion, but the President and the First Lady it
will be taken by royal carriage to Windsor Castle and
then be greeted by the Duke and Duchess of Wales
Will and Kate. After that they will then meet Charles
and Camilla, King Charles, which will include a gun salute

(10:45):
and more royal carriage processions. The President isn't going to
meet British Prime Minister Keir Starmer on Thursday, so that's
the politics.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
Part all right, But it wasn't all pageantry and fun.

Speaker 2 (10:58):
No. No.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
The president flew four thousand miles to the UK, and
apparently that still wasn't far enough to get away from
his Jeffrey Epstein headache. It was waiting for him in
lights at Windsor Castle, where there were images of Trump
and Epstein projected onto the castle's iconic towers. I mean,
this was quite the sight.

Speaker 2 (11:21):
This was okay, I know it's a strong van. What
even were gonna say they shouldn't do it? It was
well done. I wasn't like, how did they get this
to look this good?

Speaker 1 (11:28):
I was impressed.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
And it was an edited video of images that rolled.
They had a lot of stuff in there, and a
lot of stuff you would recognize a lot of pictures
that have been out there in the press over the years.
There was a picture of him with Epstein, several of them,
but there was one where he was featured with Milania.
That was one of him dancing with young women at
a party. Put that up. They had Glenne Maxwell. She
made some of the images as well, and that now

(11:50):
in from his birthday message allegedly written by Trump to
Epstein was up there.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Now.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
Police quickly we're able to track down the source of
the images, arrested four peace people on this was the
crime suspicion of malicious communication.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Wow, that's a crime.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Suspicion of malicious communication, is what it is?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Official? Yeah, gold Yeah, I'm sure they preferred the Burbery
trench coat photo to the ones projected onto Windsor Castle.
All right, next up on the run, we're going to
go back to DC and FBI Director Cash Pattel gets
another day of grilling on Capitol Hill today and that
means we get another fireworks show. He set to testify
at ten am Eastern time, this time before the House

(12:32):
Judiciary Committee, where we will likely see yes more heated
back and forth with lawmakers.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
This was exhausting yesterday. On a different level. We've gotten
the custom now to these things happening, but nothing was done.
This is not shouting about policy issues. This was name calling.
You're stupid, you're dumb. For the institution, you're a buffoon,
your lot, embarrassment, you're it was that stuff, not a
policy debate of any kind. For the most part, some

(12:57):
of these exchanges we call them combat up and explosive,
but this is not stuff you want to see these
were shouting massive matches, and in particular he was pressed
on the Epstein files, and he was pressed on this idea.
They did spend a lot of time on FBI agents,
like was their retaliation. They did spend a lot of

(13:17):
time on that. I was interested in. But also his answers,
what did you think, ro what about the Charlie Kirk assassination?
And he was the one who put out that tweet
early that said they had the person in custody and
then had to take it back I think ninety minutes later.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
He justifies it and he defends it by saying he
was being transparent. So that's what he says. At one point,
Patel called California Senator Adam Schiff, this is probably the
lowest moment, a disgrace to this institution and said that
Senator Shiff was the biggest fraud to ever sit in
the United States Senate. That's how he did it got

(13:54):
And while Republican senators praised Patel and all the work
he's done since he took office, one Senator Tom Tillis
offered Patel some advice. Given all the ugly exchanges we
were seeing. He said, don't take the bait. Just sit
down in the quiet confidence that you're doing a good job. Well,
we will see if Patel can follow that advice from

(14:16):
Senator Tillis later this morning.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
We shall see. We stay with us folks here on
this Wednesday morning when we come back TikTok, the deadline
is here again. Don't worry, folks, you know how this
is going to go. Also, coming up Mount Saint Helens.
It was the last time she erupted. Don't know, but
she's erupting now, but it is nineteen eighty eighteen was
the last eruption. Well, it's happening again, only to the

(14:41):
fool's eye. Also coming up here Robert Redford. We will
spend some time honoring him and the case of the
missing Beyonce music. They nabbed the guy who stole it,
But where is the music? Continuing on this Wednesday morning?

(15:02):
Run now? And does at this point you even believe
that TikTok is going to go anywhere?

Speaker 1 (15:06):
There's no TikTok clock going.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
Okay, everybody was going crazy for a little wise is
going to go away for the one hundred and seventy million
US users. Well, the President has once again pushed back
the deadline for the app to shut down in the US.
It was supposed to shut down in January, you'll remember,
but because of a US law that requires TikTok's Chinese
owners to divest, that was the deadline. You either have

(15:29):
to sell to a US owner by January or we're
going to shut you down in the US. It was
shut down for what ten minutes?

Speaker 1 (15:35):
Not very long, yes, So President Trump keeps signing extensions
of that deadline, first ninety days and then seventy five days,
while he said his administration was working on finding a
US owner. Well, this is now the fourth time Trump
has extended the deadline. But earlier this week, the administration
said a framework for a deal had been reached, but
did not give details about the who and the when

(15:57):
of the deal.

Speaker 2 (15:58):
So now they have until December sixteen. That's the new deadline.
President Trump did say he's going to speak to Chinese
President she on Friday to, as he put it, firm
everything up.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
All right, we shall see next up on the run,
We're gonna head to Washington State, where, despite what it
looks like, we assure you Mount Saint Helen's is not erupting.
You're assuring us well, only because the National Weather Service did, okay,
let's go with.

Speaker 2 (16:21):
That, strong winds kicking up volcanic ash from the nineteen
eighty Mount Saint Helen's eruption, creating hazy conditions that makes
it look like there is a volcanic something going on.
Commercial airline pilots first began reporting seeing the phenomenon known
as ash resuspension, which prompted the National Weather Service and

(16:41):
the US Geological Survey to put out statements on social
media reassuring residents that everything is okay. Let me hear it.
Is this gonna be reird?

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Yeah, well, can you imagine living I mean, look, there
are people who live there now who lived in that.
I mean fifty six fifty seven people died in the
Mount Saint Helens eruption from nineteen eighty. So yeah, you
start to see what looks like smoke coming out of
the volcano, you probably start freaking out. So they posted
this on X. Mount Saint Helen's is not erupting, and

(17:09):
they put not in all caps. Volcanic ash from the
nineteen eighties is being lofted back into the air from
the strong east winds. They also let folks know the
volcano alert level at Mount Saint Helens is currently at
normal or Code green normal.

Speaker 2 (17:27):
Co has it really not erupted since nineteen eighty in
any little smalls?

Speaker 1 (17:32):
I don't know if there was something small, but that
was the last major one.

Speaker 2 (17:35):
Yeah, wow, I did not realize it's been that long.
We will continue on the run now with Robert Redford
Academi Award winning actor, director and so much as he
was being labeled by so much of the coverage rope philanthropist. Yes,
advocate a right a humanitarian I think people even saw.
But he certainly got involved in a lot of that
work later in his life and career. But he passed

(17:56):
away the age of eighty nine. He had a resume
that span six decades in front of and behind the camera,
but certainly one of the biggest movie stars of his generation.
Most famous. You mentioned at the top Busch Cassidy and
The Sun Dance Kid, The Way We Were and the Sting.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, those were the three. But he has so many.
I mean, it's too many to count, as we were
just trying to go through it. But his publicists shared
the news of his passing on Tuesday, saying he died
at his home in the mountains of Utah, surrounded by
those he loved, and President Trump even waged on the
news as he was heading out to the UK, saying,
I'll tell you, Robert Redford was great. He had a
series of years that he was. There was nobody better.

(18:34):
So you just kind of mentioned this. But beyond his
acting and directing achievements, Redford notably founded the sun Dance Institute,
where he used his celebrity to foster independent films, also
to foster young actors who were unknown and create a
platform for them. And yes, he began hosting the internationally
renowned Sundance Film Festival. We all know it. It actually

(18:56):
began in nineteen eighty five and it spawned so many
incredible movie it might not have had a chance to
become what they became if he hadn't created this.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
That's the premiere, is it not? I mean, you got
can but do we have in the US?

Speaker 1 (19:09):
In the US, that is absolutely.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I don't think I put it to how we are
here in New York Tribeca. That's Robert Denaro, that's his
film festival.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
I don't think I realized he originated the Sundance Film Festival.
I did not know that. They released the statement saying
today is a sad day for the Sun Dance Institute community.
Bob's vision launched a movement that, over four decades later,
had some inspired generations of artists and redefined cinema in
the US and around the world. That statement say Bob
they know him.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yeah, And it was really sweet to see all the
people who he's worked with not just say oh, he was,
but just talk of talk to him, like he was
almost a fatherly gentleman who really worked with young actors.
And I liked Scarlet Johanson. I didn't realize he hired
her at eleven years old to start on her first film,
and she said she described him as patient, nurturing and kind.

(19:58):
But you kind of get that from him when you
see him. But it's nice to know that those who
worked with him and knew him best reaffirmed that.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
So much of what I've saw, he was always a
cool customer in all of his roles, and like I
almost wanted him to get worked he was so cool.
That was chilling.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah. And also The New York Times has a whole
it's a really awesome article if you want to read
it about the fashion the fashion he inspired, the Ralph
Lauren kind of corduroy. They said that Ralf Lauren worked
with him in some of the movies. But he is
kind of this fashion icon he became, and he's laughing,
is like, I was this freckle faced kid who had
hay colored hair who got made fun of. And to

(20:34):
be known for your looks and your style, it just
was so not what he grew up with or thought
regarded himself as. But he really truly is a fashion icon.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Was well, he more of a casual cool he seemed right.

Speaker 1 (20:45):
The key coat Lauren, Yes, the pea coat, the corduroy
suit like that whole yes, and that just relaxed American
fashion style. He really embodied it and inspired a lot
of fashion designers. All right. Next up on the Run,
the case of the missing Beyonce music. Remember this story
from earlier this summer. Yeah, someone broke into a car

(21:07):
parked in Atlanta stole a couple of bags. Well, those
bags happened to contain some laptops and a hard drive
that had unreleased Beyonce music on It.

Speaker 2 (21:19):
Kind of a big deal to get your hands on
something like that. When you say the Atlanta police say
they have arrested the guy who stole it, but they
say they don't know where the music is. Kelvin Lanier
Evans probably had no idea what he was stealing. He
was just grabbing some luggage in the back of a vehicle.
Innocent until proven guilty, I should say that. But that's
the suspect they have named. Well, he was arrested, scheduled

(21:40):
to be in court today, but again, bro, don't know
where it is. As a reminder of these, this was
a choreographer and somebody.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Who worked for her and a dancer I think, y yeah.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Who were there in town because she did four three
or four shows at the Mercedes Cowboy Carter Tour. Yes,
and somebody grab his stuff. So there is reportedly now
some unreleased Beyondce music floating in the world.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
See it's in the deep dark web, that place I
don't know how to access and don't want to. All right,
Next up on the Run, Congrats to Paige Becker. She's
having a hell of a twenty twenty five. She was
just named WNBA Rookie of the Year almost unanimously.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Yeah big deal here. She got seventy of seventy two votes.
She was drafted if you'll remember number one by Dallas
in April. That was just weeks after she had won
a national championship with Yukon. She said a WNBA record
scoring a record forty four points in a game last month,
and this is one of the most impressive things. She
is the seventh Yukon player to win WNBA Rookie of

(22:40):
the Year. The league has only been around twenty five
or so years. That's just what Yukon has done. This
is a celebration of her, but a celebration of that
institution that these kids go on, kids, young ladies go
on and continue their success. So we give love to
the NBA when their people are named for wards. Want
to give Page her flowers.

Speaker 1 (22:59):
To Yeah, congratulations to pay Paige Becker's all right, we
are going to leave you on this Wednesday with our
quote of the day. Something to think about. This is
from an unknown person, but all the powerful, even though
we don't have a name attached to it. Happiness is
letting go of what you think your life is supposed
to look like.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
I didn't see that. I don't see these ahead of time.
When you started talking, I knew where this was going happen.
Is is letting go. I gotta filled it in. Isn't
that the truth? That's the only problem you're going to
have with your day to day that you get upset
is because the day doesn't go like you plan or
expect it to go. That's the only thing that's going
to upset you today.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
I have really come to lean in on this doct
that expectations are the source of almost all suffering. You
have an expectation of other people, of yourself, of the weather,
of whatever it is, and when it doesn't go your way,
you're pissed. So yes, you have to let that go.
Happiness is letting go of what you think I think

(24:00):
your life is supposed to look like. You know, I
love Mail Robbins. Her thing is let them, let it,
let it be what it is. Just accept and you
will find peace.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
That's a good one today, and we encourage you all
to try it. Whatever your expectations are, if you get
rid of them your day it might be one of
the happiest you have of the week. And with that, folks,
we always appreciate your running well us. I'm TJ.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Holmes and I'm Amy Roboch. We will talk to you
real soon.
