Speaker 1 (00:01):
Morning Run with Amy and TJ and iHeartRadio Podcast. Good
morning everyone, Thanks for joining us for today's Morning run.
It's Wednesday, August twenty seventh.

Speaker 2 (00:11):
I'm Amy Robot and I'm TJ Holmes. All right, let's
just do this. Travis and Taylor are engaged. It's all. Yes,
there's other stuff going on in the world, arguably much
more important things going on in the world. That's fine,
we all understand. But this is something that just everyone
now Robes is caught up in. And I think it's cool.

(00:31):
I think it's cute. I think it's a good story.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
It's a love story. I love it. It's so fun.
I didn't want it to sing anymore, and that's You're welcome.
You don't want me to sing anymore. But no, it's exciting.
Everybody loves love and we've all been waiting for this announcement.
It seemed like it was going to come at any point,
and now we have the official work.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
Oh, it was common. She attached this man to an
album launch. She takes her music seriously. And I really
thought when we saw that happen on the podcast not
too long ago, that they knew something we didn't know.
We need to check the timing because the engagement happened
a couple weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Weeks ago.

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Yeah, I wonder how all this kind of played out,
But still it's the news that everybody is talking about.
We're not telling you anything you didn't know already, but yes,
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey are engaged. Yeah. The duo
announced the engagement. A joint Instagram post they did it
on Tuesday had the caption your English teacher and your
gym teacher are getting married.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
I still don't try to figure that out, but I
think apparently her fans say that she reminds them of
an English teacher, and because he's obviously a football player,
he's the gym teacher. So I guess that makes sense.
But it was a little confusing to me. But there
were a series of photos in the post. The first
is Travis on one knee proposing with Taylor putting a

(01:52):
hand on his face. They're surrounded by flowers. The next
one showed the two huggings sitting on a bench, and
then the close up of the ring. Thank you, Taylor,
we always want to see the ring. She knew it,
so she gave us a close up. Travis reportedly designed
the ring himself. It's described as an old mine, brilliant cut,
and it's estimated to be anywhere between seven to ten carrots.

(02:13):
I even saw some jewelry store thinking it could be
as many as fifteen carrots. Who knows?

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Who knows? What all you have to do is put
up a post, say you're talking about the ring or
giving details, and then attach the name of your company.

Speaker 1 (02:26):
Correct.

Speaker 2 (02:26):
That's all everybody's doing right now. Trying to make money
off these too, we understand. But because the things like this, right,
they can pull numbers like this, twenty seven million likes
to their post. Now, Kelsey's father is giving out more details,
maybe than the family authorized him too, but hey, he's
excited as well. But he filled in some details, he said.
Travis actually proposed two weeks ago at a garden in

(02:48):
Missouri and then FaceTime both families to share the news.
The reaction has been swift and of course far far reaching.

Speaker 1 (02:56):
The reaction has been swift. See what I did there?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
The fun thing that you you made?

Speaker 1 (03:01):
Why died you to say? Swift?

Speaker 2 (03:02):
All right?

Speaker 1 (03:03):
All right? This, by the way, the striped Ralph Lauren
sundress that Taylor was wearing in the photo sold out
twenty minutes after they posted the news. That's funny. Even
President Donald Trump, who's not had the nicest things to
say about Taylor. She very publicly said she was not
supporting him or voting for him, but he reacted to
the engagement news saying this, I wish him a lot

(03:24):
of luck. No, I think he's a great player. I
think he's a great guy. I think that she's a
terrific person. So I wish them a lot of luck.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Okay, that's nice enough, And am I the only is
this just a guy thing? You had in here? That
the striped Ralph Lauren sundress she was wearing. Yeah, I
had no idea she was in a sun dress or
that it was striped. I paid no attention to attire
like that.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
All the girls did exactly what she was wearing. And
it's you can no longer in any size completely sold
out expensive dress. No, it was only I think it
was on sale just under four hundred dollars. That's an expense,
but with Taylor Swift's money, you'd think it could have
been more.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
All right, you to go along here with the diamond ring.
Taylor also got a Guinness World Record. This week Get this,
the group officially recognized her appearance on her now fiance's
podcast as the biggest concurrent audience in YouTube history one
point three million viewers. That means they came and they stayed.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Yes, exactly, exactly all right. Next up on the run,
we're going to head to our nation's capital where President
Trump is following through on his threat to punish countries
doing business with Russia. India has now been hit with
a fifty percent tariff on imports, which is now one
of the highest tariffs imposed by President Trump on any country.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
It was sitting at twenty five percent, but the President
threatened to double it if India continued buying Russian oil,
essentially helping them finance their war with Ukraine. A lot
of eyes on this and what it's going to do
to the market is because India is an all important
trade partner with the US. So continue on the run here.
Now it appears to be on between President Trump and

(05:08):
Lisa Cook, the FED chair member or the FED board member,
i should say, who was fired this week by the President.
Her attorney now says she will sue the President over
her removal, claiming he has no authority to remove a
federal reserve governor.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
How many lawsuits do you think President Trump is either
involved in from a you know, he's pursuing it or
he's been on the receiving end of it.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
We should look if anybody is keeping an actual count,
it's I don't even I don't think it's possible it.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Don't you think it's possibly in the hundreds.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
At this point without questions?

Speaker 1 (05:45):
Yeah, it's I can't even imagine like being involved in
a lawsuit, let alone having so many swirling around me,
the stress and pressure of that alone. I know he
is lawyers and a whole host of people around him,
but it's just overwhelming. How many times I feel like
every day we're talking about a new lawsuit, one that
he's actually served or he's received.

Speaker 2 (06:03):
Don't we know the California number, wasn't it twenty four
or something that was state? One state? At even so
if one state is sued in twenty something times, and yeah,
it's probably it's.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
In the hundreds, all right. Well. Trump claimed in the
termination letter that he posted on social media that he
is exercising a constitutional power that allows him to remove
a federal reserve governor for cause. The cause according to
President Trump. He says Cook made false statements on a
mortgage application.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Now, this would be the first time in history that
a US president has removed a FED board member. Trump
has made no secret about his annoyance with the FED
for not cutting interest rates when he wants them to.
He's also made it no secret that he has a
desire to get more influence over the board.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
Oh, you think he wants to cut interest rates? I
hadn't heard, all right. Next up on the run, we
are going to head to Minnesota where a gunman is
on the loose after shooting seven people, killing one of
them and firing more than thirty rounds into a group
that was standing on a sidewalk across the street from
a Catholic high school.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
And this was one thirty in the afternoon when this
happened yesterday. Police say the suspect to use the high
velocity rifle and was targeting at least one of the
seven victims before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. Minneapolis
Police chief said the level of firepower unleashed in broad
daylight is completely unacceptable, adding the damage that was done

(07:30):
to the bodies of some of the victims is.

Speaker 1 (07:33):
Unspeakable, right, I've never heard of police chief say something
quite like that. It's chilling to say the least. The
six injured victims are all adults and they are all
expected to survive. We don't have any details on the
man that was killed, but police are asking anyone with
information to please come forward. They need your help, all.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
Right, Next up on the run here, we're going to
head to Wisconsin, where a judge has sentenced a husband
and father who faked his own death while kayaking on
a lake, sendence him to eighty nine days in jail.
It sounds like an odd number, but eighty nine is
the number of days he was actually quote unquote missing it.
That's right.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
That needs to be in air quotes. The prosecution and
defense had both recommended that forty five year old Ryan
Borgwart received forty five days in jail for his deception.
He pled no contest to a misdemeanor charge of obstructing
an officer, but the judge up that because he wanted
to make a point. It was last August when Borgwart
led his family and authorities to believe that he drowned.

(08:35):
He actually texted his wife that he was turning his
kayak around on Green Lake and heading back to shore.
But then he just never came home.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Yeah, authorities found his overturned kayak and his life jacket
and then spend weeks looking for him on the lake. Meantime,
Borgwart traveled to Georgia, not down south. He traveled to
the country of Georgia to create a life with a
woman he had met on them. It wasn't until October
that investigators discovered a series of clues, including the fact

(09:05):
that his name had been checked by law enforcement in
Canada two days after he went missing.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
So not dead. They also found that he had cleared
his Internet browsers the day he disappeared, and had been
looking into moving funds to foreign banks, obtaining a new passport,
and getting a new life insurance policy, all big clues
he left behind. But Hee finally reached Borgwart in November,
and then he returned back to the US in December.

(09:34):
In court on Tuesday, the father of three. Can you
imagine the father of three faking his own death? That
is bizarre? He said this in court. I deeply regret
the actions that I did that night and all the
pain I caused my family and friends.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
I have so many questions and on how can you
What do you ever say to those kids? Oh, I
that's tough. That is a really, really tough one. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
I don't think there's anything you can say that could
justify that. Really, you just have to beg for forgiveness
and spend a life in service back to earn their trust.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
I guess all right, folks, We'll stay with us here
on this was this Tuesday. It's Wednesday, Wednesday, Okay, on
this Wednesday Morning run. When we come back, we're gonna
get the day of the week week, correct, I say
we It was just me, that's messing it up. It's
only me.

Speaker 1 (10:20):
I'm always with you.

Speaker 2 (10:20):
I'm always with you. Now the sleep score is actually
forty two. Okay, it was actually forty two. But stay
with us on the run when we come back. Yes,
cracker Barrel has cracked. I cannot believe after all this,
they say, we've changed our minds. And can you guess, folks,
we have a new number one. Do you know in

(10:41):
the history of Netflix, what is the most watched movie
of all time? Where there's a new one at the
top of the list. Continuing now on this Wednesday Morning
Run and after all that Cracker Barrel is not going

(11:06):
to change their logo. After all, remember they called quite
the stir by announcing less than a week ago, by
the way, that they were removing the old man in
the overalls and removing the barrel from the logo.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
The backlash was swift and from all over, including the
oval office. Well, the company is now saying never mind,
just days after announcing that new logo as part of
a seven hundred million dollar company rebrand. Yeah, they've changed
their minds, or rather, the customers made them change their minds.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Yeah. In a statement of the company said, we thank
our guests for sharing your voices and love for Cracker Barrel.
We said we would listen, and we have. Our new
logo is going away and our old timer will remain
end quote. That's nice. Don't you think they listened to
the customers?

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Yeah? I mean I think that is.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
You don't think they don't they do testing of some
kind and folks, I would think they would have seven
hundred million dollars.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
Yes, but you know what speaks volumes. The customers can
say what they want. But when the company loses one
hundred million dollars in stock value, immediately after unveiling a
new logo that might be the most motivating part of
this whole story.

Speaker 2 (12:18):
You're the ever the cynical one. I was trying to
give them the benefit of the doubt that this was
a company doing right by its customers.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Yeah, okay, I'm sure that's what it was, all right
for the final leg of our run. K Pop Demon
Hunters is now officially the most streamed movie ever on Netflix.
The movie about the adventures of a fictional K pop
girl band using their music and fighting skills to protect
humans from demons, has wrecked up more than two hundred
and thirty six million views now.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
It launched in June, but it wasn't necessarily a huge
premiere necessarily, but over the summer it gained momentum and
after being boosted by viral videos and memes on social
media and the show soundtrack, well here we are now
the K Pop Demon Hunter's soundtrack has become the first
ever to have four simultanea's top ten hits on the

(13:10):
Billboard Hot one hundred.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
This is always mind blowing. The movie was also the
highest grossing movie in the box office over the weekend,
earning twenty million dollars and not surprisingly, there was already
talk of a sequel and some of the talk right,
of course, I mean it makes sense, right, But some
of the producers on this show actually produced some of
the most famous K pop bands that we know of,
And when we were on Good Morning America, if we

(13:34):
ever had a K pop band, it was always mind
blowing the amount of people who would just camp out
overnight in Times Square to just get a glimpse of
these folks. So I guess it shouldn't be that big
of a surprise that a movie like this with this
type of music, with the producers behind it.

Speaker 2 (13:51):
Oh, I didn't know that that makes perfect sense?

Speaker 1 (13:53):
Yep? Oh did they know what they're doing and they
know what people like and it's resonating. So congratulations to
Netflix on all of that.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
All right, before you head out on your Wednesday, something
we would like for you to consider it is our
quote of the day.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize
how close they were to success when they gave up.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
Right.

Speaker 1 (14:14):
That's from Thomas Edison. He might know a thing or
two about success.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
How many times a week do you hear me say
that to somebody? I love that quote. It's all I
love it that A couple of variations of it, but
I love that love that love that you just didn't know.
How many stories do you have with people? I submitted
to one hundred and seven people, and on one hundred
and eight they said, yes, yes, think of if you
would have said, oh, to hell with it after thirty
or I love love love that idea.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
You know, everyone gets to a point where you feel like,
is this worth it? Am I ever going to break through?
Is this ever? And like that's the whole point. Yeah,
keep on truck, and yes, I thought of you. When
I saw this quote from I didn't know Thomas Edison
said it, so I thought it was pretty cool.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Didn't realize that either.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
Yeah, he has a lot of good quotes out there.
Many of life's failures are people who did not realize
how close they were to success when they gave up.
So never give up, Thomas Edison. Thank you for that,
and thank you for listening to us on this Wednesday
morning run. I'm Amy Robots and I'm TJ.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
Holmes. Gonna go get some some sleep, get that or
a ring score up. See y'all.
