Speaker 1 (00:10):
And one and only Perez Giltonhi, guys, welcome to our
php on Booker.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
That would be Perez. How do you do.
Speaker 3 (00:22):
I'm great.
Speaker 4 (00:23):
I'm excited because this show has got some of my
favorite people to talk about.
Speaker 3 (00:28):
It's a fantastic show.
Speaker 4 (00:30):
We've got Miley Cyrus in a rare move because I
would say that Miley is is beloved and accurate description.
Perhaps yeah, I would say Miley is beloved, but she's
upset a lot of hardcore fans. I'll explain what's going
on there, and maybe I don't agree. Also, Benson Boone
has gripped the nation for better or worse.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
I'll give my two cents on that.
Speaker 4 (00:54):
Plus Justin Bieber and some I think maybe good news there,
some needed good news also the return of Tom Sandoval
and the very polarizing as well. But I'm a fan
Addison Ray. Some surprising news there. First, though, before we
get into anything, all.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Good with you, All good, nothing new to report.
Speaker 4 (01:16):
I just had a great weekend. I did go see
a show Friday night.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
God, I'm so old, you know.
Speaker 4 (01:21):
I love being open to the world and the things
that make you happy aren't necessarily like what used to
make you happy. Like, instead of going to like some
big concert or whatever, I went to see a tribute
act that did Selena, the original Selina Selena Kitaniya, and
I had the time of my life. It's called Queen
Selena at Alexis Park here in Las Vegas, and I
(01:44):
cannot recommend it enough. I never got to see the
original Selena in concert, so this was just beautiful and wonderful.
And it was actually not a really hot weekend, so
I got to spend some time outdoors with my kids.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
I was playing.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
I said, okay, yeah, go outside. You're not gonna get
in the pool and play in the yard. And I
went out to play with them, and I fucking fell
asleep on the yard, I literally and then my daughter
brought out a blanket for me because it was like
actually shady and creezy, and it was beautiful.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
So it's a good weekend.
Speaker 2 (02:13):
Yeah, it was nice here as well. It couldn't have
been more perfect than there's no bugs right now. And
you know, I spent some time next to my pool
as well. I haven't got in my pool, which I
typically don't do that till late July it's typically so cold,
but it had been hot here Yeah. I had a
nice weekend too.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
Nice.
Speaker 4 (02:29):
Well, this is by request from our Patreon message board.
Miley Cyrus over the weekend was in London. She had
a fan event at a record store and Naomi Campbell
joined her. Naomi is featured on her new visual album
and it was advertised ahead of time that Naomi would
(02:50):
be there with Miley. And this one video has gone
super viral from this fan event at the record store.
Have you seen it?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
No, I didn't see that at all. And it's funny
because I watched some Miley interview video this week and
a lot of it, so I'm surprised I didn't get feded.
Speaker 4 (03:07):
I need to give you the video so you can
see it. It's on our Patreon message board. The link is,
the link is, so I've seen it. Take a look
at this briefly, and then we'll discuss your picture. Gorge
right behind you for your picture, gorge right behind you?
Speaker 2 (03:25):
One, two, three, There you go.
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Okay, you done.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
She's taken two pictures. I think another one right here
for the picture gorge all right, typical picture with the artists.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
I wouldn't say typical.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
So a lot of folks are upset because Miley is
giving a lot of time, focused words, energy attention to
and actually, oh my god, if I did a show
with her that the British supermodel, and I mispronounced her name,
America's just pronounced it differently. She pronounces her name Naomi Naomi,
not Naomi Naomi.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
I always thought it was Naomi.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
No, oh shit, no, I got I got corrected on that.
Speaker 3 (04:07):
But it's like, you know, Rihanna, Rihanna.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
You know Rihanna pronounces it Rihanna, and we all Americans
say Rihanna anyway, So anyway, AnyWho, She's giving a lot
of time, energy, focused, attention words to Naomi. And this
went viral on social media because people thought that Miley
was being rude and not giving enough of that energy
and attention to her fans who paid a lot of
(04:30):
money for that. Oh yeah, oh yeah yeah. The ones
that are getting these signed copies are paid supporters who
paid I forget, But it was like hundreds of pounds.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
It was not cheap.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
And I'm actually going to defend Miley here because I
need more information before I can form a solid opinion.
When in the context of this was the video taken,
because perhaps it was the very beginning of the signing
and Naomi got their late perhaps and Miley just is
(05:02):
getting you know, next to her and like is appreciative
of her time. Maybe you know, she didn't pay Naomi
to do this, and Naomi's just doing this as a friend.
If it was like doing the middle or the I
don't know. I feel like I need to hear from
more fans. Was this an isolated experience that these two people.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
In the video right three saw three in the videos?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Okay, fine?
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Was it an isolated thing or did she behave like
this for the whole signing?
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Well, that's what I want to know.
Speaker 2 (05:28):
The thing is, you know, there's two different things. There's
a meet and greet and there's typically like a picture
with the band. Look, the proof is right there. She
isn't really paying attention to her fans, and does she
have to every fucking moment of her life. Maybe in
that instance, maybe give them a little bit more than
pause for photo back to conversation. I mean a little
(05:50):
bit of eye contact. Look, those quote fans will remember
that exchange for the rest of their life and it
will be a sour taste in their mouth for it.
And as an artist, I think you've got to be
a little bit cognizant of that. So I mean, look,
it's still much to do about nothing boohoo, Like you
paid money to get a picture taken with somebody, and
(06:11):
you know, that's all people want at the end of
the day, the picture, the proof that it happened. It's
not so much about the moment. But I could see
how those fans could be led down. But the people
that are watching online, they can screw off. They didn't
pay for this, you know what I mean, Like they
weren't there either, so I kind of go both ways
on it.
Speaker 3 (06:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:29):
I really do want to hear from more fans, though,
And I have a feeling that this video is gonna
you might not have seen it, but it's gonna go
viral today.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
Yeah, and people are gonna.
Speaker 4 (06:40):
More people are gonna see it, more people are gonna
be talking about it, and hopefully including people that were there,
so I can hear from them. But I also think,
you know, you know, most likely, if Miley were doing
this signing event by herself, she'd obviously give her fans
more time. But it was a joint thing with Naomi,
and it, you know, left a sour taste in a
(07:01):
lot of people's Now.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Look, as you know, this will be a non story
by about five o'clock tomorrow. You know it'll have all
gone away. It doesn't have enough weight or legs behind it,
but it does kind of you know, it's something stays
with you there, you know a little bit. It's not
the best look. It's much to do about nothing, But
I can understand why the people there should be upset.
(07:23):
The people online could go.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
Fuck themselves all right. Well.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
Also getting a lot of attention, actually, I would say safely,
getting even more attention than Miley Cyrus is Benson Boone.
He just released his new album and on release day,
I randomly came upon a bunch of reviews and then
I was shocked because every single review that I saw
(07:48):
for Benson Boone's new album, American Heart, was negative.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
And I'm like what. Then I kept looking.
Speaker 4 (07:55):
Then I purposely started to seek them out, and I
swear I could not find one single positive review.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Ah, that's unfortunate.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Very briefly, and these are big publications, I compiled a
list rolling Stone the headline Benson Boone Can't land the
backflip NM. The headline Benson Boone American Heart review A
front flip to the middle of the road. The Washington
Post review, Benson Boone sings as if he has something
(08:25):
to prove but nothing to say. Variety In American Heart,
Benson Boone's music still isn't half as much fun as
his Image album review Consequence of Sound Benson Boone's American
Heart doesn't land the backflip review Vulture Benson Boone is
trying too hard. Hy ya yay, wow, brutal, and part
(08:46):
of me feels like he doesn't deserve it.
Speaker 3 (08:49):
Well, he deserves it.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
No, no, no, he doesn't deserve this sort of hatred.
It's like next level, it's wild. Like at the end
of the day, this is probably kind of good for him.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
I was gonna say that it's absolutely good. It means
he's made it to the A list. It means he's
on top right now.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Right he is a still a one hit wonder. It's
really just one song that's really catapulted him or flipped
him into the whatever pun you want to fucking use
that has you know, landed him into or onto the
list that he's on. And I think the expectation is high.
It's really not a bad thing to get this kind
of look, let's see how he responds to it, you know.
(09:28):
And I did see some video of him reading some
quotes about what people had said about him, and he
was like fair, you know, so he's playing along, but
I can get him being a little hurt about it
because it is pretty kind of targeted, right, But that's
clickbait media that we live in now. You know, you
can't get your publication read unless you have a scathing
(09:50):
review or the most glowing blow sunshine up Taylor Swift's
ass kind of review, you know what I mean, Like
it's one of the other. This middle of the road
stuff just doesn't land anymore. So it's they have to
proclaim you the greatest artist of all time or your
shit one of the other.
Speaker 3 (10:04):
Have you listened to the album?
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Fuck no, But it's nothing that I would want to
listen to. Like his music. To me, he is hot ac.
He's Michael Bolton for Today with the one song, right,
and then you see even concert doing the flips and
you're like, wow, I didn't see that coming. But that
doesn't mean he has to like turn into something that
he's not. He's not Ricky Martins, so it's not something
(10:27):
I'd go listen to, but I mean, I'll give it
a listen. I think people hoped it would be like
Maroon five, hmm, you know, something that's pop and catchy.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
Here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
I was both disappointed and enjoyed it. If that makes sense,
let me explain. I was disappointed in that. You know,
I really wanted him to have some monster hits, or
at least one, but actually not even that. Like more
than that, I wanted an album of all a's. I
don't need A pluses. I would have been happy with
(10:57):
A minuses every single fucking song on the chapel Rowan
album for me is an A A A plus, A minus.
There's not like one. B.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I get what you're saying because it hits where you
wanted to hit, and I think you want him to
hit somewhere different than what he is.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
No, no, no, that's not I'm happy with his lane.
I'm happy with what he's doing. The problem is, in
my opinion, he gave me and it's a short album.
It's tight, it's just ten songs. He gave me an
album full of B pluses.
Speaker 2 (11:27):
B plus ain't bad. No, no, but that's exactly and
B plus can also grow on you exactly.
Speaker 4 (11:32):
That's why I said I I enjoyed it, and actually
I keep listening to it over and over again. And
the reason I keep listening to it and the reason
why it might grow on me is because at the
end of the day, and I don't know if anybody's
made this comparison, there is a real parallel between Benson
Boone and Adele. The last Adele album, whatever fucking number
(11:53):
that was, that was a bunch of B plus songs,
but Adele is so amazing as a singer, or that
she sold them and you might might have tricked you
into thinking they were a minuses.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
But the last Adell album was all B pluses.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Seriously, I can't fight you on that. Yeah, she's such
an artist and such a talent that it'd be like
if Whitney Houston didn't make hit songs and she just
put out some things that were okay, you'd still be like, yeah,
still fucking Whitney Houston, you know.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
And that's the thing with the Benson. I'm like, you
know what, he is such an amazing vocalist, he's such
a great singer that even though these songs are still
just B pluses, I'm really enjoying listening to this because
I just love his voice. I love how his voice
makes me feel. And I think there is maybe like
one or two out of the eight that are like
a minuses.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
You know, I don't like this knee jerk reaction to
albums and not living with it. And I don't care
who the reviewer is. There's no chance you've listened to
it more than let's even say five times.
Speaker 3 (12:51):
I've listened to it more than five times.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
I really enjoy it, right, I'm talking about a reviewer though, Yeah,
And I still firmly believe that you need to live
with things. Sometimes you need to like digest some of
these songs and let them sink in and let them
get in there a little bit. And you know, it's
like I hate to bring up a Roon five again.
That's what they do. They put out these songs the
first well, some of them are like lips like Jagger
(13:14):
and your hips, like whatever the fuck it is, moves
like Jagger, You're like, oh, instant first time you hear it.
But then there's like he's got that song with one
of the K pop girls that's a fucking smash. I mean,
that's such a great song, and the first time I
heard it, I was like, this is just generic. Now
I'm like, oh god, this is huge. This is a
great song. So sometimes it just takes a minute to
sink in. That's all. Yeah, I mean there's another Hey,
(13:34):
how about this? Let me eat a little crow here?
There's another song that keeps popping up, and I really
wish I would have got the title from Addison ray.
And it's not the diet Pepsi song. There's another one,
which one I can't recall. I know, the whole album
with headphones, headphones on, No, give me another.
Speaker 4 (13:50):
One, New York in the Summer, in the rain, high fashion.
These are just off the top of my head. I
fucking can't stop listening to the Addison album.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
I love it.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
But there's another one that comes up. I'm like, I'm like, no,
this song, this has got something like this could be
a hit, And I'm sorry I can't remember what it
is because I barely care about her.
Speaker 4 (14:09):
Actually, I was going to talk about her later in
the show. I'll talk about her immediately after this, but
let me just finish on Benson one last little thing.
You know, first of all, remember for a bunch of
Harry Style's last era or the one before that, he
got shit on a lot.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Yeah, Harry got a lot of flak.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Like queer baiting and this and the stupid fashion and
that and the other. So, like like you said, and
like I said, it's only a wonderful thing that he's
getting this much hatred.
Speaker 3 (14:35):
I hope you could see it like that.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
I hope that it just means you're so successful right
now and don't let it get you down.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
One last thing, I mean, there is such a lack
of male pop star at the moment that he is
going to get look after look after look because of
that fact. Pop music used to be dominated by men.
Now they don't exist. I mean the pendulum swung completely
in the other direction. Now.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
Well, I don't know if I would agree with that.
I would think what we consider pop is different. Like
Morgan Wallin is a male pop star even though he's
mainly doing country ish music.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
But his country music is pop music.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
It is, I guess so. But okay, there's one. And
by the way, you could step into the hip hop
lane and you know, ramble off fifteen.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Other people that have met right or pop music.
Speaker 2 (15:20):
Kendrick Lamar, his new music fucking stinks. I can't stand it.
I don't get it. People love it, and I'm glad
that they do. I don't understand it. It's not for me,
But some people may consider that pop music. I'm just
saying the traditional male heart throb looks like George Michael
has that pop thing. Yeah, that is a void at
the moment. I think people want to usher him into
(15:42):
that lane, and so far the music isn't there.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
You know, I was literally in this shower thinking today,
I would love to give this another go. If I
had Oprah money, I would try to make this happen
once more. I don't know if anybody remembers, but for
like a few years there, I partnered with Simon Fuller,
who was the manager for the Spice Girls, and he
created American Idol and pop idol over in the UK,
and I tried to make a boy band happen and
(16:07):
it did not happen.
Speaker 3 (16:08):
Unfortunately, we have.
Speaker 4 (16:10):
Not had an American male pop boy band in decades.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
You're not wrong. I agree with you one hundred percent. Like,
why isn't there one? Like every generation from New Kids
on the Block up, there's always one. Whether it'd be
one direction and sink Backstreet Boys. There's always that, and
you're right, outside of K pop groups, there isn't that.
There's such a void for it, and you know what,
You'll wake up one day and it'll happen because it
(16:39):
just takes one song and somebody will think to do
it again.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
Well, I would love that, all right. We mentioned Addison
Ray briefly for all you Addison haters. She is the
moment and your fellow pop girlies love her. You know,
Charlie XCX has given her the big co sign. She
featured Addison on a song. Charlie was just at Addison's
London show and now it was just announced this weekend
(17:05):
Lana del Rey has chosen Addison Ray to beat her
support act next month at Wembley Stadium.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
Wow.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
Two shows there?
Speaker 4 (17:16):
I mean the fact that Lana's doing two nights at
a fucking stadium in London?
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Wow?
Speaker 2 (17:21):
Is that the same lane? Lana? Is this you know
ethereal soft hippie whatever sound and she's writhing on the
stage like a stripper. I mean, is it the same audience?
Is my question? Or is it just you're bringing some
energy and you know people are just there for Lana anyhow.
Speaker 4 (17:37):
People are just there for Lana anyhow, and she could
pick whomever she wants. Like the show sold, I doubt
they're gonna sell many extra tickets because she now chose
Addison Ray, especially the concerts next month, you know.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
But still great look and I just love her. I'm
sure you.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
Might have seen at some point a couple of clips
from that Amelia I fucking can't get her her name,
dull mad the Chicken Chop date girl. Yeah, Amelia di Maldenburg.
Geez Louise, Amelia di Maldenburg. I think she's like she
comes from money in the UK. Clearly, she's just got
a real fancy name. She's an aristocrat. But Addison was
(18:17):
on that show. And also I fucking love I just
love this like she's doing pop star, but there's something
it feels both familiar but also a little bit fresh.
She had hardly any makeup on in this interview, and
also during her performance that you said she looked like
a stripper. She's just like twenty fucking three and just
(18:38):
naturally hot and doesn't even need to.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Try to do that much.
Speaker 4 (18:41):
And I just love her personality, Like I'm just a
big fan. She seems like a sweet girl. She seems
just like really nice and sweet, and.
Speaker 2 (18:49):
To me, she's a put on Charlie XCX.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
But she's not trying to be Charlie XCX. That's her
music is very different.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I'm just talking about her whole esthetic. Charlie XCX. That
girl is fucking grimy. She's not trying to be grimy,
but she just is. And she's a rock star.
Speaker 3 (19:05):
And she's trying to be grimy.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
But what the performance is to me, that's what it
looks like because it looks like a strip club half
the time, which I'm not against.
Speaker 3 (19:14):
That's not grimy. That is giving her no, no, no no.
Speaker 2 (19:17):
I said, Charlie XCX is grimy. She's naturally grimy. To me,
this girl is like she's trying to put on that
vibe and she isn't that That's what I see. But
then on the other side of the coin, like like
that Sabrina Carpenter song. I like that song now more
the new one, more than I did when it came
out tenfold and it just sounds so good on the
(19:38):
radio when I hear it, and I've turned into such
a Sabrina Carpenter fan. Remember I did not like her
and I admit it. I was fucking dead wrong. I
was like, I'm not feeling this. Then that album came out,
I was like, oh, I was wrong. These fucking songs
are great. And everything she's doing in the lane she's
running in and how she's presenting herself a a AA
all across the board. So yeah, maybe Addison will turn
(20:01):
into that, and you know, you don't have to be
that on day one, and I will, you know, I'll
stand up and say I was wrong. It's fine. But
I still think the album's just very average.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
You heard it more than once.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Well I listened to it once, you know, And I
told you there's things that come up on my feed
where I'll hear another song and I'll be like, wait
a minute, I think this is pretty good.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
It's a great album.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Anyways, Well, congratulations on that, Addison. In more pop news,
you know, you're talking about the dearth of male pop stars.
Justin Bieber, you know, he's working on new music and
we'll see if that ever comes out. But according to
a new report, he is about to use his wife's money,
all that money she got by selling her beauty brand,
(20:43):
to pay off the tens of millions of dollars that
he owes Scooter Brawn, his former manager, as should it be.
You know, that's a marriage and she's up now, and
it's it's her responsibility to lift him up.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
She made this money because of him. Okay, let's not
see it any other way. I mean that too. She
was catapulted into a completely different stratosphere once you get
with a Justin Bieber, And that's just a fact. Call
me sexist, call me whatever you want, it's just a fact.
Speaker 3 (21:13):
It is.
Speaker 2 (21:14):
She social climbed their way and it worked. Kardashians did
the same thing. So congratulations, is what I say at
the end of the day.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
You know who also, just a little rewind for a second,
who potentially could have a lot of road ahead of her.
Is that Dasha girl that boots on song.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (21:30):
I don't know her so well, but she's another one.
I think maybe we follow one another because maybe she
does iHeart things whatever, but I like her. I've just
never heard a song that's like kind of hit me
over the head like I love this is the one
that's gonna Yeah. I hope it happens work because she
seems cool and nice and she seems to be doing
all the right things and working it.
Speaker 4 (21:50):
You can't force people to get behind something that they
don't want to. The perfect example, and I like her,
she's a sweet girl. But there is a period of
time where that songwriter, Bonnie McKee tried to make it
again as a solo artist. She had originally tried to
make it as a solo artist failed, like most pop stars, unfortunately,
(22:11):
the ones that actually succeed are super small. But then
after finding success writing with Katie Perry, she wanted to
give it another chance, and she came out with this
song called American Girl and put every fucking celebrity in
the music video.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
You remember that, I do? I remember her promoting it.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
Yeah, she promoted it everywhere, tons of promo, All the
celebrities were in the music video, all the celebrities mentioned
it on social media, and it didn't happen.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Look, this happens all the time. She tried to use
her muscle to make things happen. And generally, you can't like,
you can't like you're trying to get it. You can't
fake the funk with the audience, Like the audience is
gonna know if you have it or not. And maybe
Bonnie McKee whom, like I said, I think is super talented,
great writer. Maybe she just didn't have it. And it's
(22:59):
just as simple as that. You need it for whatever
reason to make things happen. So it could be just
as simple as.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
That Benson Boone has it.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
Yeah, I mean, the kid seems like he has that
it thing. But you gotta be able to dish the
you gotta be able to have the goods too.
Speaker 3 (23:15):
You know what's interesting about Benson and his demo. It's
so fascinating.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
He's got the young teenage girls and he's got the
old soccer moms. Yeah, but he doesn't have the in between,
which is fine because both of those demos are wonderful
demos to have.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
And that's a you know, that's an artist that a
typical heritage pop station like a Kiss FM will get
behind because their bread and butter is mothers driving their
daughters to school and them sharing the product the pop
radio station. And when you hit both of those demos
and the crosshairs, that's when you know you have something
that's what you're kind of looking for. And that's kind
(23:55):
of where I think we could. I don't want to
get off track here, but I think pop radio fails
because sometimes they get too mired in the muck of
what's hot in this moment and they forget the fact
of that your radio station is typically that it's the
mom driving the kid to school, and you got to
hit both of them, and sometimes they try for that
middle and they miss both of them, and that's just
(24:16):
where music goes sometimes.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
Well in more music related news, I'm not gonna dive
deep into this because I don't really care.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
I mean, maybe, I don't know. We'll see.
Speaker 4 (24:26):
I'm kind of making an assessment that it's like Vegas,
Like I'm betting that this is not going to turn
into a huge.
Speaker 3 (24:33):
Story, but maybe it will be.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (24:36):
Fat Joe the rapper has been accused of having sex
with minors and forcing his former hype man to have
sex with people and all of this stuff and a
twenty million dollar lawsuit, But I don't know. It seems
like a bit of a shakedown.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Look, there's no point to get caught in the weeds
of this. I think society in general is like not
following up on these stories. It starts at the top.
Our president's a felon, and no one seems to care.
Like Fat Joe. Maybe Black Twitter will pop off on it,
but outside of that, I don't think it'll infiltrate to anything.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Yeah, I'm not I don't really care that much.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Yeah, I'm not invested.
Speaker 4 (25:16):
A quick update sad The New York Times they are
reporting that chef Ann Burrell's death is being investigated as
a possible drug overdose. The New York Post, the Times,
and TMZ are all three of them exclusively reporting that
(25:37):
she was discovered with dozens of pills next to her.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
Well, you know, that doesn't know anything.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
I know, I know.
Speaker 2 (25:45):
I think it's just the you get on a medicine
for one thing, something else hurts. These numbers are bad.
Next thing, you know, you're taking twenty pills a day.
Speaker 4 (25:55):
Well, the autopsy has been completed, but it'll be a
bit until we know the results.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
All right.
Speaker 4 (26:00):
In lighter news, I don't know if you've have you
seen the Tom Sandoval America's God Talent clip yet?
Speaker 2 (26:08):
Yes, I actually saw him. He was on KTLA the
other morning and talking about his music and such.
Speaker 4 (26:14):
He sure is lucky that the powers that be have
gotten behind him because after vander Pump Rules, they hired
him to be on the Traders, which airs on Peacock.
Speaker 2 (26:25):
And he did a great job.
Speaker 4 (26:26):
It's owned by NBC Universal, Comcast, whatever the fuck they're
called these days. And then now he's on NBC, which
is owned by NBC Universal Comcast. And in the clip,
Simon Cowell said, let's get America to like you. And
then they show him in his band performing that Aha
classic take on God from the eighties, and one he
(26:49):
sounded great, and two I'm ninety nine point nine percent
sure he used live auto tune.
Speaker 2 (26:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
Now the question I have is in a show like
America's Got Talent, where your talent is supposed to be singing,
should live auto tune be allowed?
Speaker 3 (27:09):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (27:11):
No, no, But who cares. It's what the performance is
and what people would be sitting in a seat watching
in whatever theater they're watching you in in Vegas or whatever.
So it's just about the performance. And he's part of
the NBC machine. They've got an investment in him. And
on the other side of the coin, look, the whole
cheating thing was the best thing that ever happened to him.
(27:33):
And Ariana, she's on the fucking hottest show on TV
right now. I mean, she's the hostess on that and
by the way, they never show her. I mean I've
watched now I'm many episodes in I feel like you
see her once an episode, but she's probably raking loot
from it. And every time I see her on that
damn show, she's good, Like she's not bad at it.
But the show is about the people that are dating,
(27:55):
and it's I get why people like it, but Ben,
those people are stupid Jesus Christ, are they dumb?
Speaker 4 (28:02):
Well, it still annoys me. I don't agree with your take.
I don't think that they should allow the live auto tune. However,
we don't know if he makes it through. They cut
out before.
Speaker 2 (28:12):
I know he doesn't.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Yeah, sucks.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
You said he sounded good. I was like, I didn't
think he sounded that.
Speaker 3 (28:18):
I think he sounded good thanks to live auto tune.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
So yeah, they cut out before the judge's decision and
the and the comments, so it'll be interesting to see
what happens there. Some more music little tidbits quickly another song.
If you love new music, check it out. Lola Young. Yeah,
not like that anymore. It made me so happy because
you know, we talked about Lola Young a while ago
(28:42):
and I listened to her album and I liked it,
but MESSI was like, the only like great song on them.
Speaker 2 (28:49):
I disagree. I think there's three to four great great
songs on that album. I've been growing about her forever.
Speaker 4 (28:54):
There's some good songs, but not like great or wow
songs that just did that had that effect over me.
This one, however, not like that anymore. Oh what a
wonderful follow up from MESSI. She is this generation's Lily Allen.
And that's high praise because I fucking love Lily Allen.
Speaker 3 (29:13):
Like I love that, you.
Speaker 4 (29:14):
Know, speaking of MESSI, Lola Young is messy, but more
than messy, it's like just real, it's raw.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
She's punk rockadel to me, Oh I could see that. Yeah,
she's just fucking cool and she does. She gives zero
fucks about anything and how she looks and what she says.
I've never heard an artist use the word cunt as
many times as her.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
Yeah, I love it. I love it.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Also, Lord dropped a new song she's just you know,
letting people have a lot of previews of her upcoming album.
Speaker 3 (29:38):
It's called Hammer. Not a hit but solid song.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
I really like it. I'm so into this new Lord era.
Good for her, all right. Briefly some acting news. Eric
Dane revealed that he has no intentions of quitting acting
despite his als diagnosis and to each their own, but
I couldn't help but think of myself. You know, if
I got this diagnosis that I probably don't have more
(30:04):
than three or five seven years left to live, I
would want to spend every possible moment just with my
kids and making memories. And I don't know, especially because
he's already lost so much mobility and function, it's crazy. Also,
congratulations to Kelsey Grammar at seventy years old. He's going
to be a dad again for the eighth time, his
(30:28):
eighth child at seventy and his wife, who did not
use a surrogate.
Speaker 3 (30:33):
She's carrying the child herself. She's forty six.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
I would not want to be having a child at
forty six, you know, personally, But congrats whatever they want.
And finally, Charlie Sheen and Denise Richard's daughters Sammy and
Lola are fighting publicly.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Ah yeah, yea.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
I hope my kids don't do this, Oh God, I
worry they probably will. I've made this mistake myself about
talking about my family on social media. But you know,
Sammy Sheen is I think by I forget how she
she's part of the queer community, she says, and she
put her sister on blast for, according to her, being
(31:13):
homophobic and transphobic because she reposts.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
Is a repost a co sign? I guess it is.
Speaker 4 (31:21):
I mean, if you are platforming somebody that is homophobic
and transphobic.
Speaker 2 (31:25):
Yeah, if you're reposting that, that generally means you agree
with that person, unless you repost it and say, get
a load of this asshole.
Speaker 4 (31:33):
Yeah, so you know, she called her out for that,
and uh, it's just sad. I hate seeing siblings or
mothers and fathers and people fighting.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
Oh well, all right, let's take a couple of calls.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 5 (31:45):
I'm listening to the current podcast, and you were talking
about Brenda's song and pres you said on again, off
again girlfriend of Miley's brother. But she's married to mcaulay Culkin.
Speaker 2 (31:57):
So was that on again, off again prior I mentioned Nicauley?
Speaker 4 (32:01):
I said that, I don't believe, so I might have
made a mistake.
Speaker 2 (32:04):
Maybe you just didn't finish the thought that I mentioned.
Speaker 4 (32:07):
Too's happily with McCauley now and they've got two kids together.
But maybe I forgot to mention that part.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 5 (32:13):
Hi, Pease and Booker. This is topped from Johnstown, Pennsylvania
and a Patreon subscriber. It's one of the Colin Voice
my opinion on the Sabrina Carpenter fanshow song. Not a
huge Sabrina fan.
Speaker 3 (32:28):
But I just love this song.
Speaker 5 (32:30):
It is the song of the summer in my mind,
and I agree. I didn't like it at first. I
gave it a seat, But the more times but I
listened to it, I'm up to a solid.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Hey, it's catchy, it's.
Speaker 5 (32:42):
Fun and just light hearted, just what we need right now.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Yeah, it's almost echoed verbatim what I said. Sometimes it
takes a second to sink in. And I think that
song's great and it may be the song of the summer.
And we'll see, I mean, time will tell. But yeah,
judging these albums the day of release, to me, is
patently unfair and it's kind of silly. It's a dated
thing to do. I think, how about this. I think
(33:07):
artists should go out and promote their new albums up
to like six months after they put it out. Let
people live with it a little bit, and you don't
have to do everything for week one, then forget about
it till the next album cycle. It'd be neat if
people came in and said, hey, I want to talk
about this album that I dropped six months ago. I
think that's a better way to do things. Sometimes there's
(33:28):
so much out there you can't digest at all.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
Well, I gave Manchild to B plus if I remember
when it first came out, and it's still a B
plus for me.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
It's still a B plus.
Speaker 3 (33:37):
But that's not a bad thing.
Speaker 2 (33:38):
Yeah, but you don't think it's better now, Like it's
you don't hear it now and go, wow, this is
really good. Because at first I was like, yeah, this
is good. This is reminiscent of the other one. I
don't know if I would have said it was huge,
but now I think it's huge.
Speaker 3 (33:50):
It's still a BE plus for me.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Okay, here's why I don't really want to join along
in the chorus, Like I can enjoy it and it's
like a more passive experience. It's like, okay, let her
sing it. Okay, great, she's a great song. It's a
solid B plus whereas please Please Please or Espresso or.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
The other ones. I want to join along in the chorus.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
I'll never say it's better than please Please Please. I
mean please Please Please to me is kind of Mount
Rushmore of pop. Yeah, I love for the past ten years.
For me, that is a great, perfect pop song. Yeah,
this isn't a perfect but it's goddamn good.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Yeah. No, I always thought it was good.
Speaker 2 (34:24):
Yeah, Okay, let's wrap this up all right.
Speaker 4 (34:26):
Well, patreon dot com slash Perez Hilton, we will be
there with an exclusive new show. We're daily responding to
folks on the message board. You can listen to it
however you stream your favorite shows, just set up your
feed to get it from our Patreon and your support
there would be so wonderful.
Speaker 2 (34:44):
Oh and I wanted to add one thing, Perez. So
this will be the last new show until after the
fourth of July. Oh my god, yes, because we are
going to take off next week. However, for those of
you who listen and do not have the Patreon, what
we're going to do next week is you're going to
hear so some of the things that we've done exclusively
on Patreon that you've never heard before and I'm gonna
(35:06):
tell you up front, I'm not giving away the cow. Okay, Like,
there are gonna be some stories that I'm sorry, our
opinions are gonna be just for Patreon only, because sometimes
they're scandalous. Sometimes they're you know, they could maybe even
get us in trouble. Some of it is cut off,
but it's stuff that you've not heard before. And I've
put together a really good show next week so you
can kind of get a feel of what we're doing
(35:28):
on Patreon. So I just wanted to give you guys
that heads up.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
Fabulous. I'm ready to take some time off.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
But but Patreon people, you will get a show next Monday.
Don't worry.
Speaker 4 (35:38):
Yeah, we're gonna do our regular show this Thursday, and
then next week you'll get a Patreon show a little
bit early.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
So all right, have a wonderful week, everybody.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Take care, everybody,
