Hello puzzlers. Might start with a quick puzzle, what do
these three things have in common? The phrase yes yes

urinal and two syllables that the rock band the Police

Hello puzzlers, Welcome back to the Puzzler podcast. The roller
skating waiters at your nineteen fifties themed puzzle diner. I'm
(00:45):
your host agent like the that was an o of
I know.
Speaker 2 (00:50):
That was a sort of nostalgic, not that I was
alive in the fifties, but there's something about roller skating
servers that's kind of, you know, it's really nice.
Speaker 1 (00:58):
Well, that, of course is chief puzzle off Greg Puliska,
I'm a J. Jacobs And before the break, Greg, we
asked what do these three things have in common? The
phrase yes yes and Russian an absurdist art movement featuring
a famous urinal and two of the syllables the rock
band the Police say when words escape them? Do you
have any guesses.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
I know them all, yes, because they're all the same thing.
Nice da da that's right. I mean the police technically
say do do do doda da da.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Right, but there are two of the syllables that they say.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Yeah, true, true.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
No, I'm not You're accurate, all right, you are just
giving more context to it.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
I see you do do da? Is all I want
to say to you.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
Yes, exactly. Uh so that is true. Doa da was
the famous art movement with Marcel Duchal and dommy yes
and Russian well done. And I guess I'm thinking that
you can guess why I.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Can because our guest today actually used to call me dada.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Oh isn't that nice? Meaning the absurdist art movement.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, he was like, boy, Dad, you are a dada today.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
You are so absurd. Well that I know that is
because you are the father, the Dada of this great puzzler. Please,
let's welcome Niki Pliska. Hello, puzzling Nicki. You are not
the only puzzle maker in the family. Your father, Greg Pliska,
(02:34):
is also a wonderful puzzle maker, and I believe he
has one for you. This one exciting. Yeah, it's very exciting,
and I don't want to spoil it too much, but
I think it's about sports teams.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
Now.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
I see a forty nine Ers poster right behind you,
So I'm guessing you hate the forty nine Ers.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
Incorrect, I loved you.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I see.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Okay, how did that happen? How did that?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
You?
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Do you live in San Francisco?
Speaker 3 (03:00):
My dad on the podcast grew up in Belmont, near
San Francisco and partially in San Francisco. So I guess
you just passed it on to me.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I say it is a genetic thing. I think, yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (03:16):
And what are your other teams besides the forty nine Ers?
Speaker 3 (03:19):
The New York Mets love it, The New York Rangers,
and the New York Knicks.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
Now, each of those New.
Speaker 3 (03:25):
York Liberty if you watch basketball, yeah, there we go,
and the New York Sirens if you want.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Women talking, good for you? I love it.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Now.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Some of those teams have rivals within New York, like
the Nets and the Knicks. How did you end up
with the Knicks versus the Nets?
Speaker 2 (03:44):
Well?
Speaker 3 (03:44):
I guess all my friends like the Knicks. And if
you ask people in New York if they root for
the Knicks or the Nets, I feel like you'd get
more answers being Knicks, got it.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I remember I once met when I was about your age.
I once met the governor of New York State at
the time, and instead of I could have asked him about,
you know, his policies on homelessness, but instead I asked
him who do you like better? The Rangers or the Islanders?
(04:19):
And he said, I can't say, you know that, I'm
governor of New York so he had to like him both.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
But then he and what about the Buffalo Sabers also
in New York State?
Speaker 1 (04:30):
Great point. I didn't even think to ask, but he
did say, sort of very quietly, he did say, but
actually it's the Rangers. It was Mario Cuelmos.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Very cool. Go Rangers, Go Rangers.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
All right, Well speaking, I.
Speaker 2 (04:44):
Have an additional question, Nikki. Yeah, if there was a
team you could see that's not one of your favorite
New York teams or the forty nine ers, like outside
that group, what would be like one of your top
teams to go see?
Speaker 3 (04:56):
What sport?
Speaker 2 (04:57):
Any sport like.
Speaker 3 (04:59):
I'd see football, probably the Ravens, they are the Lions well,
teams are very exciting, and baseball probably the Dodgers.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
I like that Dodgers used to be in Brooklyn, so
they are sort of local. I like to think they're
still here.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
Well in angel You know why the Mets colors are
blue and orange?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
I don't tell me.
Speaker 2 (05:22):
Nicky, do you know? No, Because the two teams that
left New York, the Dodgers and the Giants, were blue
and orange. So when the Mets, so we had only
one franchise, we had the Yankees, and the city needed another.
And so when the Mets were founded, they wanted to
pay tribute to the two departed teams, the blue and
the orange teams.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
I love that. Did not know. I did know that
the Dodgers are named after the people who dodge the
cable cars in Brooklyn, which is just a hilarious trolley cars,
the trolley cars, right, which I love. I love that.
That is the origin. All right, So, NICKI, speaking of sports,
your father has a sports related puzzle, so I'm going
(06:04):
to turn it right over.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
All right, So, Nikki, this is a puzzle about your
favorite sport bootball, Right, that is your favorite sport, right, bootball?
Speaker 3 (06:14):
I'm gonna say that was a synonym for football.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Well, it's oh very good. It's actually it's like football,
but it has one letter changed. So it changed the
first letter of football to get bootball. Okay, So this
is all about the National Bootball League the NBL. Every
NBL team has a name that's one letter different from
an NFL team. Okay, So I'm going to give you
(06:42):
a clue to that to the NBL team. So, for example,
I might tell you that the team that drafted Shador
Sanders and Mason Graham is still unhappy. That's why they're
called the Cleveland Frowns instead of the Cleveland Brown.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Okay. So that so it can be any letter. It
can be the first letter or the middle letter.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
Are you going to include the city name?
Speaker 2 (07:11):
I am not going to give you the city name.
I can give you the city name as a hint,
but I'm going to try to not give the city
name up front. You'll have to get a clue to
the team. And for the first set, they're all it's
the first letter that I'm changing every time. Okay, So
all right, here we go. We are forty nine er fans,
you and me, So we think that this rival team
(07:34):
should be named for the lumpy sweet potatoes that they
really are.
Speaker 4 (07:41):
Okay, what is the rival team I'm thinking going to
be the Yams y Los Angeles.
Speaker 2 (07:54):
The Los Angeles Yams is correct.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I love it. And by the way, so we don't
get emails from our food loving puzzlers. We know that
yams and sweet potatoes are technically different, but then the
puzzle world we like.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
To Yeah, okay, good, So, Nikki, you know how Patrick
Mahomes got those three rings with this team. He stole them.
That's why their team is called this Steelers. Know what
team is the Thiefs, the Kansas City Thiefs. Very good.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
That's so funny though that the Steelers would be uh
would kind of fit?
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Would work? And you'd have to change the E and
Steelers to an able to make them stealers like the
nic all right? All right, because DeVante Wyatt and Rashaan
Gary can tackle the passer really well, their team is
now called this Yeah, get the Green Bay Sack instead
(09:00):
of the Green Bay Packers. Very good? All right? This
team has only won one Super Bowl and for many
years they were so bad that their fans wore paper
bags over their heads and that made them pass out.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
I think it's about the Detroit Lions.
Speaker 2 (09:21):
The good guess it's not. There's a different team. That's
that They really did wear paper bags. It's a team,
you know. It's a team in New Orleans.
Speaker 3 (09:32):
The Saints.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
Yeah, the New Orleans Things.
Speaker 2 (09:36):
Exactly very good, very good. This East Coast team is
cute and furry, like little domestic cats or dogs or hamsters.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
So I know it's a cat team.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
No, not cats, it's cats. Dogs, hamters are all in
this category of things.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Is it the New York Pets, Yes, exactly, Jets, the
New York Jets.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Ye, all right, And one more where I'm changing the
first letter. Caleb Williams and Keenan Allen have gotten so
out of shape in the off season that they're thinner
on top and wide on the bottom, just like the
fruit that their team is named for.
Speaker 3 (10:25):
The Chicago Bears. Yes, Chicago Bears.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Exactly very good. All right, all right, now the next
ones are gonna get a little trickier. I'm not changing
the first letter this time. I'm changing a different letter, all.
Speaker 3 (10:38):
Right, Okay.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
This team's star players are Lasagna Jackson, Derek Pennay, and ZD. Flowers.
But the team is actually named for Japanese noodles.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Is the Baltimore Robins, Yes, Baltimore Ravens, Yes, very.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Good, Nikki, you are on fire.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
All right. Peyton Manning led this team to championships, but
they often were home sick, sneezing and coughing.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna say the Indianapolis Colds. Yes,
very good, Indianapolis exactly.
Speaker 1 (11:22):
Good job, well done, all right.
Speaker 2 (11:24):
And this one their quarterback might be marrying Hailey Steinfeld.
But this New York team is actually dedicated to perhaps
the greatest gymnast of all time.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
So I know the American team, the NFL team, don't know.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
So what's the NFL team?
Speaker 3 (11:48):
The Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Right, you got to change one letter to get the
greatest gymnast of all time.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
It's a female gymnast, I believe correct.
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Don't know gymnists.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
You know this woman?
Speaker 1 (12:02):
She won super amount of gold.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Is it the Buffalo Biles?
Speaker 2 (12:09):
Yes, the Buffalo Biles to Simone Biles.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Exactly, Buffalo Bills.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Yeah, Oh my god, you did so well on this.
I have I have one more. I'll give you this.
This is a little bit of a made up word,
but I think you'll get it, all right. This team
plays in Colorado, where the large herbivorous dinosaurs that they
are named for have been found.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
Colorado.
Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah. Do you know what team plays in Colorado City? Yeah?
What's the city in Colorado? It starts with a d
yeap Nice and can you repeat these? Yeah, yep, so
they're they're named for large herbivorous dinosaurs.
Speaker 3 (12:56):
The Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
But it's a a nickname for a big dinosaur. What's
what's the biggest dinosaurs is a yeah, so there'd be
the Denver Brontos.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Yes, I just want to correct you there. The biggest
dinosaur is actually the Argentinosaurs.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Nice say the largest? I said the largest.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
But I do love the idea that of naming teams
after vegetarian animals because there are far too many of
the predators. Let's get some prey in there. Well that
was fantastic. You both did great. Thank you wonderful. And
by the way, what about if the forty nine ers.
Did you think of anything for the forty the forty diners?
(13:46):
What do you got?
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I didn't have one for the.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
Forty Speaking of forty diners, Nick Mimosa, Bread Warner and
and live Stock party.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Nice one, that's so good.
Speaker 3 (14:03):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
On the spot came up with food names for the
forty nine ers.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Wonderful. Well, thank you, Nikki for both your puzzle and
solving your dad's puzzle.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
You're very welcome. Thank you for having me on the podcast.
Speaker 1 (14:20):

of our kids on again because this is fun, fun week,
great week, Greg father plis got Do you have an
extra credit for the puzzlers at home?
Speaker 2 (14:32):
I do? I do. This a pretty ridiculous one. It's
even more far fetched than the Brontos, but I thought
it was fun. A team that plays in Texas and
they dress up like mechanical android bovines.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Okay, one more time.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
It's a team from Texas that dresses up like mechanical
android bovines.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
Okay, I think I got it. I think, but I'm
