Speaker 1 (00:00):
Broadcasting from the Civic Cyper Studios. Welcome to the QR Code,
where we share perspective, seek understanding, and shape outcomes. The
man you are about to hear from is my guy.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
He is the birthday boy.

Speaker 1 (00:16):
He's him. No, No, it'strict that he is the Himalayan Doku.
He is the q in the QR code. He goes
by the name of.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Q Ward, the voice that you just heard. So he
my brother, and I'll be going to say like bad
stuff about.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Him, but he'd be lying, Nah, not that time.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
So my birthday did just pass. I'll give him that.
But I am not the Himalayan Doko. I am not
Homer Hempson. I am not him at the Chalamey. He is, though,
and he's in the QR code. He goes by the
name ramsays Jah.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
And we need you to stick around a little later
on this show, we're going to be talking about some
troubling news around here. We protect black women. Letitia James
has been indicted for mortgage fraud from Donald Trump's Department
of Justice. This feels like another example of Donald Trump
weaponizing the DOJ to go after his political ribals. So

(01:18):
we're going to talk about that and hopefully if you
did not know, you will be made aware. Prior to that,
Q Ward's going to be talking to us about the
perhaps unintended consequences of ice covering their faces and there's
some troubling consequences as a result of that. We're going

(01:40):
to share some opinions about a Utah pastor who is
calling for the execution of rebellious young black men. And
we're going to start off with our culture segment talking
about what's going on in the culture that of course
being bad Bunny and the super Bowl and how Turning
Point USA is hosting an alternative they're gonna try.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
I guess.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
But before we get to all that, of course, as always,
we start off with a field good feature. So today's
feel good feature comes from Oregonlive dot com and we
kind of love this one. It's a little fun, a
little silly, so we'll share the Portland protest Frog didn't
let a stream of chemical spray aim directly at his
costumes air vents stop him. A TikTok video of the

(02:24):
onslaught by a federal agent is now up to at
least one point four million likes.

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Quote.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
I've definitely had spicier Tomalley's unquote, the Portland protest frog
didn't let that steam stop him. It happened as people
were peacefully protesting on the sidewalk in front of the
US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Field Office around eleven pm
on October second, said the man in the frog suit,
Seth Todd, twenty four, of Portland. And despite the whimsy

(02:53):
of his bulbous green outfit, Todd said, he's serious about
the reason he's a protest regular.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
Quote.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
It's kind of ridiculous that they are being so aggressive
and so inhumane with their treatment of immigrants, and that's
why I'm here unquote, he said. So if you don't
know this, I mean obviously, Q and I. We've been
watching the protest in Chicago and in Portland very closely,
and in Portland they have just been having fun with it.

(03:21):
Donald Trump has been falsely claiming that rioters are burning
the city down and he needs to send in the
National Guard, that sort of thing. These people are dancing
and wearing costumes. They're making their protest fun for themselves.
They're going to be out there and show their presence.
They're going to have a good time with it, and
for folks that haven't seen it. There are people dressed
up in costumes unicorns and frogs obviously and that sort

(03:44):
of thing. And you know the ice agents, you know,
as the article says, you know, sprayed pepper spray into
the air vent of the costume, trying to discourage this
protester from continuing. But he took it in stride and
he is still out there making waves. And we appreciate that.
Feel good stories always feel good, and we do need them.

(04:05):
So shout out to uh, what's his name? Seth Todd?
All right, turning Point USA, hosting an alternative Super Bowl
halftime show. You know what, Q, you sent this to
me before I even read this article.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
I want you to paint this picture and share your thoughts.

Speaker 1 (04:28):
I want to know them personally, and I'm sure our
listeners want to know too. Why you think this is
noteworthy and interesting?

Speaker 3 (04:35):
Yeah, before you even get into the article, A really
interesting thing happens in this country where they try to
rebrand white supremacy or racism as patriotism and American when

(04:59):
they're doing deliberately racist things. It's like they'll tell you
that racism is bad, which is why they don't like
being branded that way. But then they go do the
most racist things imaginable. They complain about things in a
way that makes it very very clear, Oh, your problem
is that I'm black, or your problem is that he's

(05:23):
speaking Spanish, or that he's brown, or I guess we're
starting to learn that they work in construction or farming
or hospitality, or really any industry where you can locate
and isolate people of color in this country. They make

(05:43):
arguments about immigration and the legality of it, but notice
that the thousands of videos that you've seen, you don't
see any white immigrants being stolen from their families and
thrown into trucks and vans and driven off into the
dark with no answers and no explanation. So things like
this Turning Point halftime show, there's such huge jokes because

(06:11):
we watched a maga media person make a fool of
themselves by trying to point out that this was a
non American artist headlining the super Bowl, only to be
told by a less conservative media person that, oh, no,
he's from Puerto Rico, so yeah, he's American. And that

(06:35):
person then sat in silence, I'm guessing, dumbfounded and embarrassed
that they'd made such a public fool of themselves.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
Last year, the problem was.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
Kendrick Lamar, even though he's an American citizen from Counting California,
and did an entire show in English and even wore red,
white and blue, and so did all of his dancers,
and they formed an American flag. It was as American
as they come. And that was a problem. Yeah, Beyonce
doing you know, the Netflix Christmas Day Game singing country

(07:05):
music in the Heart of America, also in English, and
then they'll talk about, you know, the bands they love
or all the members are white, but none of them
are American, and they'll tell you how awesome those shows are. So,
you know, Ramsey and I had a list posted on
Civic Cipher. I'm not sure if it's still there, but

(07:26):
there's all of these acts. It's got a million, it's
got a million views. Now, all these mainstream white acts
that people very aggressively wrongly assume American because they're white.
And the only person on that list, and who's also
the only one being complained about, is the only American

(07:46):
on the list, and that's bad.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
Bunny.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
So counter programming the super Bowl so that you can
present Anty Brown show and that being the only purpose
is laughable. I hope this is the most watched Super
Bowl halftime in the history of television, because that would

(08:11):
just be a really really funny thing to experience. But
when you get into this story and you start reading
about the categories, it will become even more clear.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
That racism is once again the answer.

Speaker 1 (08:24):
Yeah, you know, and I want to say this, like
turning Point USA, they're they're in my estimation, a lot
of what it is that they stand for is founded
in racism. And there's like a veneer of patriotism that

(08:45):
allows for their I guess they're talking points patriotism and
Christianity round there.

Speaker 2 (08:55):
You go, thanks for that.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Yeah, it allows for those talking points to exist in
a mixed society. You know, this is just the right
way things are done. This is the legacy and you
know that sort of thing.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
I'll say this. I'll add this.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
The United States of America does not have an official language.
The reason that the United States of America does not
have an official language is because the people that founded
this country, yes, they came from England, and you know,
they spoke English, So there is no American language. We
speak English from England. For people that don't know, but

(09:37):
at the time when they were putting the country together,
when you would have an official language, we famously don't
have an official religion because this land was founded so
that religious freedom could be practiced. But the reason there's
no language is because most of the people in what
was the United States at that point in time spoke German,
so having an official language would not have made sense.

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Right.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
And now in this country, the second most popular language
spoken besides English is Spanish. And you can imagine why
because a huge chunk of the country was stolen basically
from Mexico. I think it was by James Polk or
something like that. It was basically stolen the same way
that we stolen from native tribes and all that sort

(10:23):
of stuff, and just bullied our way through this continent.
And so that's the reality of the situation for people
that do have an issue with a Spanish language musical
super Bowl halftime show, What an inconvenience to you that
must be. How sad for you to just not be

(10:44):
able to enjoy the music. What a sad life you live.
I'll share the article this from bianews dot com. Turning
Point USA, the right wing political group founded by late
conservative figure Charlie Kirk has announced plans to host its
own Super Bowl halftime show in response to Puerto Rican
superstar Bad Bunny being an announced as the headline performer.
Per huff Post, the new event, dubbed the All American

(11:06):
Halftime Show Celebrating Faith, Family, and Freedom, seeks to offer
a conservative alternative to the traditional show amid MAGA backlash
over Bad Bunny's upcoming performance and a survey on his
website Turning Point USA is gauging potential viewers musical preferences
including classic rock, worship and anything in English. Many right

(11:27):
wing figures, including President Donald Trump, have voiced criticism over
Bad Bunny's upcoming performance. Homeland Security Secretary Christy Noam suggested
that immigration and customs enforcement agents should target Bad Bunny
fans at the game.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
I want to come back to that.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
During a recent appearance on right wing podcaster Benny Johnson's show,
Corey Lewandowski's. Lewandowski, a senior advisor at Trump's Department of
Homeland Security, also warned of IS's presence at Super Bowl
LX quote, there is nowhere that you can provide safe
haven to people who are in this country. Illegally, not

(12:04):
the super Bowl, and nowhere else. Unquote, Lewandowski said, Okay,
I want to say something.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
I want you to have the last word here though, Q.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Obviously because this is more your speed, but I want
to say this first off again, bad Bunny fans. Bad
Bunny is Puerto Rican. That is a US territory. It
was born with the United States birth certificate, so was
everybody else who was Puerto Rican. If what you're trying
to suggest is that illegal immigrants are going to somehow

(12:37):
be at the super Bowl for this halftime performance, and
that you need to dedicate the country's resources to apprehending.

Speaker 2 (12:47):
These people who are here poor.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
You know, working in you know, jobs that many of
us would not work in. If you think that they
could afford super Bowl tickets, that's asamine. And if you
know that they can't afford super Bowl tickets, then your
racism is on full display here and your lack of
intelligence is on full display. And that's that's it. I

(13:13):
just you can go with that, Q. I want you
to have last word, So any closing.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Bout, Lewandowski also said, we will find you, we will
apprehend you, we will put you in detention facility, we
will deport you. This is a very real situation under
this administration, which is completely contrary to how it used
to be, except that they'll be showing up to do
that to citizens who are black and brown. They're not

(13:37):
going to find a trove of undocumented immigrants who can
afford thousand dollars Super Bowl tickets. So if they're going
to use all those resources, they're going to bully and
make a show out of being inhumane to people of color.
And that is who they are at this point, and
that is the entire point of their entire movement, in humane, evil,

(13:57):
mean racism, full stop.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
All right.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
Another one that tells us about the state of where
we are as a country. Utah pastor calls for execution
of rebellious young black men. Buckle up, all right. This
from bi in News dot com. A Utah pastor has
sparked outrage after calling for the execution of rebellious young

(14:26):
black men during a recent episode of I'm Not even
going to say the name of this podcast. Brian Sauve,
a pastor at the Blah Blah Blah Church in Utah,
argued that the US government should adopt just laws from
the Bible, including those that call for the death penalty

(14:48):
for disobedient sons. Suave, I think that's how I say.
His name linked Old Testament passage, specifically Deuteronomy twenty one
to black culture, which he described as evil to risk,
violent and be steal. Okay, real quick, this is Ramses,
this is me jumping in here. I'm gonna pause from reading.

(15:10):
I have not found one person yet who has been
faithful to every single part of the Old Testament. So
whenever somebody invokes anything from the Old Testament, I know
out of like just just out of hand, that they're
cherry picking something and they're trying to cultivate a narrative

(15:32):
that uses the Bible overall as.

Speaker 2 (15:36):
Sort of a shield for their.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Manufactured morality to have some sort of a defense against it.
But no, the Old Testament tells you that you can't.
There's all kinds of weird laws. You can't have two
different types of fabric in the same garment like stuff
like that.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
So anybody cherry.

Speaker 1 (15:57):
Picks anything, first off, I just dismissed on his face,
especially it comes from the Old Testament only right, all right,
let me keep it going. He says, quote, they are evil, murderous, violent,
beastial people. They still they kill, they destroy, They look
like Satan and how they act unquote. Swabe said, Uh.

(16:18):
It goes on to say, any criminal statistic that you
could look at almost pretty much without exception, they excel
at them Black culture unquote. Swabe went on to reference
the Old Testament's prescription for stoning a rebellious son, equating
the behavior of young black men to the disobedient sons

(16:40):
in the Bible. Quote, if you had a rebellious son,
you have a child who's coming up into their manhood
and their rebellious they don't listen. The father is to
bring them out to the town square. This is a
rebellious son, and then they stone him to death.

Speaker 2 (16:55):
They kill him.

Speaker 1 (16:56):
He said, Okay, I know that this is a racist pastor.
I know that you know. Christianity has gone in a
direction that does not really have room for all people.
It really only has room for white men, and everyone

(17:20):
else is really here to either serve or annoy them.
And this is their interpretation of the Bible. And they're
the ones in power right now. They got their savior
in office, Donald Trump, and so they get to move
through time and space as though this is valid. I

(17:43):
want to say that, you know, the point about criminal
statistics that he's making, where you know, he's talking about violence,
and he's talking about you know, all that sort of stuff.
You know, Q and I have done enough scholarly research
to know that a lot of those crimes have their
roots and poverty. In other words, if the poverty were addressed,

(18:10):
the systemic factors, the environmental factors that lead to a
perpetual state of impoverished you know, black communities, then the
supposition is that these things would no longer be as
true as they are now, right, and they would be

(18:31):
more on par with national statistics.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
With other racial groups.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
We can't say for certain because we've never been able
to live in that reality, but we do have examples
of poor white communities and how poverty affects them and
all these criminal categories increase. And we have you know,
other communities and other countries around the world where you know,

(19:00):
black people aren't artificially suppressed to the degree and in
the ways that they are in this country.

Speaker 2 (19:05):
So the logic is there.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
But this is sort of what you get when right
wing indoctrination looking at you Fox News goes unchecked for
many years This is what you get when you know
people hide or marry their morality to a bastardization of

(19:29):
biblical principles and they feel like they have a supernatural
justification for whatever. This is the way that slave masters
interpreted the Bible, right, So super old Testament and super
cherry picked. But the last thing I want to say
is that Q and I we did a recent episode

(19:51):
where we were talking about criminal statistics and these aren't
tied to poverty at all, not at all. Okay, we
did an episode recently enough for you to just scroll back,
you would even have to go back a page and
you'd be able to find it. We were talking about
sex crimes, crimes that involve children, that sort of stuff.
I don't need to rehash it. It was gross enough

(20:13):
to rehash it the first or hash it the front
the first time. So for folks that want too, you
can go back and listen to all that nonsense we got.
We had, Like our video got demonetized or partially demonetized
on YouTube because of the language you're using, because it
could be it could be triggering to people. That's why
people use words like greape instead of the R word.

(20:33):
You know what I mean? So they won't get demonetized.
But the crimes that we were looking at, the crimes
that have this profound, lasting effect on human beings and
the you know, their psychology and their capacity to enter
into fulfilling relationships, et cetera, those crimes are largely committed
by white men. You want to talk about attacks on women,

(21:00):
a sexual attacks, you want to a tax on children,
all that sort of stuff. If you want to talk
about white collar crimes, crimes that affect huge numbers of
people all at once, like in ron level crimes, overrepresented
are white men when you're looking into those categories. If

(21:20):
you want to talk about street crime from poor people,
that they wouldn't do those crimes if they had a
job that paid them enough, or if had access to
jobs like that, then yeah, you could manipulate that data
to say all this sort of stuff. But again, for
people that become indoctrinated by Fox News and then they

(21:42):
add a little bit of you know, right wing whatever
in cell culture into their and a little bit of
religion to fortify it all, you get people that think
that black people are just born awful. What did guys say,
where we look like Satan?

Speaker 2 (21:58):
Something like that.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
He said, I can't find it out, but that's what
he said, and feels justified in saying that to go
on a platform and say it and then claim to
be a man of faith. And the crazy thing is
the person whose podcast it was. I don't want to
shot them out, just because why would I ever do that.

(22:21):
They have to try harder to get on the radio.
But whoever's podcast it is didn't stop them from saying
that this and the crazy thing this is not the
only one. There's another story we talked about where there's
another pastor who's like, super, let's put these guys back
in chains.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
That's where they belong. So anyway, Q, your thoughts, it's
a really.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Watching everything that's happening right now is so heartbreaking rounds
like I went from really really sad to really really
angry back to really really sad because it feels more
hopeless by the day. Like this man, I'm guessing if
he's actually a pastor, went to seminary. I know they

(23:06):
didn't teach him this in seminary. I know that the
same Bible that you and I grew up reading and
being taught doesn't say this. So this man's own warped
view of reality, his own deeply seated racism and hate

(23:29):
where he, I'm guessing, leads a congregation and teaches them this,
but I'm sure no pushback because he's somewhere in the
country where that's their way. I feel less hopeful by
the day, more frustrated, more angry, more sad, more heartbroken
that more and more people claiming to be followers and

(23:51):
believers and worshipers of Jesus Christ are also some of
the most mean and vile, racist and hateful people that
we've ever seen.
