(02:12):

at work. We're here, bird, It's so good to see
all of you. I missed you, Yeah, I did. I
missed you. I really did. We missed you too, Thank

I even missed you. I really did. Wow, I did.
I did watch ye so and it I mean it
was about it was about Thursday before I started miss

(02:34):
but yeah, yeah, it took till I missed you.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
Yesterday, having wore I having wore a short shirt that's borderline, Greg,
make fun of.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
I saw that that was there? It is I don't
know what's open there? What's on your chest there? That's
a that's a Dallas star. It's a Dallas show. Okay, okay,
make fun of have palm tree.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
It's actually it's actually Jc's shirt. I'm just wearing it
today in an effort not to wear the same eight
shirts every all the time.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Can I ask you something that you know shows that
we don't. I don't have a lot of style. We
know that. My wife makes that clear. Yeah, would this
be the palm trees represent the style of shirt, and
they just made a Dallas Star shirt so that you
can't palm trees are tied to the Dallas Stars. I
don't I don't know.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
I think it's a it's a golf shirt and it's
just got a golf just got it is it's it's
a brand.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
It's okay, it is a brand. You know, if they
want to put the Dallas Stars thing on, you may
get the same coat of the shirt. It's hard to
see it. It's a level where it's a level where brand.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Oh my goodness, this is just what AI is saying.
But evidently the palm trees and the Dallas Stars. That
refers to a viral meme, a viral moment stemming from
when the Buffalo Sabers GM complained that his team couldn't
attract free agents because they didn't have palm trees, like
like teams in sunny tax free states.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
How about that. So they made fun of the fact
that you mean Texas wing at the palm tree. Yeah right, okay,
that's funny.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Well, when we went out and wanted to get thank
you by when whenever we went out to one of
the games, the playoff games, and all that that we
talked about. There was a golf for a golf shirt rack,
I guess, and we picked it up there. But I
put it on and then I got here and I
was like, oh boy. You know, for the first time,
you like see yourself in the mirror. I'm like, well,
this has got Greg written all over it.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
You know you know what I thought that D stood for? Hey, Greg,
there's coach the boar. Check out that haircut. He's got
to coach the boar haircut. I can't believe y'all. Let
me go my haircut. He your hair is gone, coach,
how's a tiger look? Listening around? This win and got

(04:45):
a hair Friday. And to be honest, I might as
well go this look, I mean, I might as well. Sure,
And she's cutting my hair, and all of a sudden,
I look and I thought, oh so it's all gone.
I got to talk and she cut cut and that's fine.
There's nothing I don't care but this slip. Yeah, you're
gonna do with this hair anyway. The other way it's

(05:05):
no better. I like that look.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
No, it is a good loss, straight up. It is
a big change, but it's a good looking. Stop laughing.

Speaker 2 (05:13):
Wait till now, let's get taken. I was calling you
coach the boy Friday. I know what I saw you
walked in. I said, wow, Greg's really going all in
on rainbow of moke there. So I got a haircut
I did that day, by the way, so that buzz
cut looks good. Yeah, that's what it was. You listen,

(05:33):
grad ready first the team to start August practice. Yeah,
you know you go. Football is all over. So now
straight up.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
It's a big change, Greg, but it's a good look.
You said that your head is too big for the
to have hair that short.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
No, it's to the skin. I can't. I'll never go
to skin has too big. I saw somebody this weekend.
Bad call. Really, Yeah, people need to think everybody go
the skin. No they can't. You right, Yeah, you're right call.
So sometimes you don't know it to you there. Right.
So we got a lot to talk about.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
While we were away, a lot of things happened everywhere,
but you know, most of it we will just be
talking about here amongst us. That's funny, uh, and good
to have text nation back. We've missed y'all. Yeah, Uh,
a lot of you emailing. Uh. It was interesting because
the audience. You guys are so incredible when when we
were away, unless there was a question about something, we

(06:25):
you know, because we were doing our first ever let's
automate you know, the show for for five full days
and two weekend shows, which is always automated. But and
you know, other than people say, and everything seemed to
run smooth. I think we had one tune in issue
that we had to correct, which was and that was
just a couple of emails. But you know, it's funny,

(06:46):
the audience kind of goes, yeah, we know you are
all so that you don't get a lot. Then all
of a sudden, once it once it got the weekend
before we go back on there, then it all starts.
It's all start here, it all starts coming again. So
it's good to see all of you and hope you
enjoyed going back and listening to some of the more
memorable hours of the first seven months of the show.
And uh so we do have a lot to cover

(07:08):
and and a lot of viewer It's so funny you
said that tune in is not working right. No, no,
I actually I actually saw that and and then we
just talked about it. We had one little minor issue.
A tune in, of course is down now and again,
well the thing with tune in, and I heard everybody it.
I don't want to get all technical, even though you
know I could. Yeah, but I hear people talking engineers
like super Tom that there's a computer that that handles

(07:32):
our our part of tune in, and the computer has
to be told where to look for programming, and we
had to tell it to look somewhere else. And I
don't think that's been correct. Yeah for best of shows,
and I bet it's not looking back to the studio.
And I just texted, how about that?

Speaker 4 (07:46):
That was pretty that simple but also accurate.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
That is a very good breakdown. I don't want to
stir the pot here, but can you imagine with the
first round of unscreened phone calls is going to be
today a whole week? I thought the same.

Speaker 6 (08:02):
They've been sitting on their hands just for a week
to say something.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
You realize. Some people said, you know what, I've had
five days to find new creative ways that they do
do y. I thought, man, they got new ones. So yeah,
so we we've got I mean, a lot to jump
into today. We're excited to be back all of us,
you know. And I know I'm not getting into all this,
but it is. You know, it's a different schedule. Uh

(08:27):
and and sure enough, at one time I thought to myself,
I love what I do for a living, so I
certainly don't dread coming back to work. But you know,
you can still get caught in this life that's not real,
because this life that we lived last week doesn't require
any income, you know, I mean, use an income you've
already made. But you don't realize that you can't just

(08:48):
stay here more as eventually you'll run out retirement. Right.
And at one time I thought I lived on a
small islands. And how about this, I don't, Rick, you don't,
you're not don't And you can see, sure goes, I
know at one point one point you're saying.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Hello mom, sure shower wreck.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Sure, she said, I thought the hat was maybe a
one two day thing. So that's yeah, that's you're gonna
have to let you go back to what. She goes,
I think you think that that I think you think
that you're that hat guy. Now, yeah, and she goes,
look that's vacation, Rick, only on she took it back
from me. Look over the weekend, she sided to give
it that. Yeah, I agree with that's Alan Illen.

Speaker 6 (09:32):
Yeah yeah, that island only.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
You think that guy thinks he has a job. I
don't know who that is, right, I don't know who
that is. Well rested, look of that guy. That guy,
that guy's going, don't worry and me hip about you.
You didn't sound you didn't so but you didn't sound bahaman.
You didn't sound Jamaican. You just said anything.

Speaker 7 (09:56):
I mind.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Okay, Three to the birds. How did you say the
same boat? Different islands do like Texas? And by the way,
the Behamans hate for you to confuse him for Jamaicans.
Just not. They hated that. Oh my god, no, they hated.

(10:22):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, No Strange Encounters, the
new podcast from Rick Burgess. Get it no wherever you

(10:47):
get podcasts.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
By the way, I hope you got caught up. So
this week, since we're we're all back now you will
get you know, the Daily Show now will be brand new.
You'll have the archive of the Daily Show every day
is always tune in. We're working on that so we
know the problems will be corrected quickly. So first, welcome back.

(11:11):
How are you. So you'll have the live and the
archive for you today and also coming up this week Wednesday,
Bible Study will go back to brand new and the
new Strange Encounter's coming out this weekend. Now last weekend,
abers still, I mean, you can't stop him. A brand
new episode of Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits and Radio

(11:32):
Gold did come out over the weekend, so episode twenty nine,
So there you go, and or was it yeah twenty
nine right? Yeah, So anyway, so so everything's back rolling
this week, so all the normal stuff kind of goes
back to normal. And one thing I'm seeing on text
Nation other than asking us about tune in, just refresh

(11:55):
if it was down, Yeah, if it was down, it
should be good. Now tune in people, if you're hearing
us on some other source, which is odd because I
guess now, I how did somebody tell me? No? I
do know, there's other things, but tune in is what
I prefer. That's right, that's right, that's why we have choices.
Just refreshed, Yeah, just refresh it. It ought to be
there now, testing one too for tune in, Test one
too for tune in. But I see on text Nation

(12:17):
today and I'm already singing an emails Adler. How is
mister chin? He is alive? How did he well? How
did he handle vacation? Good? Good? I got a new bowl,
set up a new thing for him.

Speaker 8 (12:29):
Oh nice, It has a like a pump, you know,
a little filter, a little pump action.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
I think part of his tail might have gotten sucked
into it or something.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Oh it's good. It's new to him. He used to
have a piece of his tail. I think, guys, are
we going to fall for this? That's a different fish.
It's not clearly a different fir c. It's behind Misterler
was talking about mister Chinn's tale, right right right. But
I did get him a new tank.

Speaker 6 (12:58):
I came in and checked on him ice over the
break that you don't.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
Got to go that far. I did go that far.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
I had other things to do, but it was it
is him. It's the same cham.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
When did he bring the new fish in Friday? Probably? Yeah?
Look look look right there.

Speaker 6 (13:16):
See there's like a chunk missing out of his.

Speaker 2 (13:18):
You can't say I can't see it. You got caught
in the machinery, did you see chen Friday? He was
filling the tank up when I came in. Yes, thank you,
there's a paper was a new fish. And by the way,
it's probably know you're right right right there. Yeah, just

(13:38):
go along with what. I'm worried about his tail. But
he's besides that, he's good. Yeah. But by the way,
but nobody's buying that. Promise him and I will. I'll
tell you soon. I'll be sad when.

Speaker 4 (13:50):
He if anything, if anything were ever happen.

Speaker 2 (13:54):
By the way, best case scenario is Chin five.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
This is Chen one point h I promise, promise, I'll
tell you because I'll be sad.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
Okay, So Chin did fine, he's got a new tank. Yes,
apparently this filter start out badly because it took a
part of his tail. Yeah, fadlare. I'm trying to figure
it out. I bet, I bet he won't get near
it again. He wishes his tank was bigger. He does,
he does, honest, I think that thanks smaller than the
Oh yeah it is. Now he's got oxygen in there,

(14:25):
like he's not sucking at the top. He probably would
like to have food. Yeah, I sat on Monday and Friday.
That a new fish, like the hotel. That's a little gap.
It's a gap. Sure, all of us like to be
fed twice. He's good. Beat him again today he's hungry

(14:46):
that way, by the way, just to refresh tune in
his back. Yeah. And a lot of people saying they
got it back just just fresh, fresh fresh, you know,
computers and talking to things and all that. Yeah, a
poor little chin. Yeah all right, po we think we
think chen is.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Back original, Yes, it is mine.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
By the way I work mean accident, Oh, I got
it if you need you got it down. The Also,
I was I learned a little bit on vacation. There
were a few times on vacation where I thought, well,
this must be what it's like to be speedy. Well,
I found myself having to be like crazy resourceful because

(15:32):
you know, but I did. I did the best I
could on trying to figure out, you know, when when
Sherry and I we went away, and where she'd planned
where we were going, beautiful place and all that. I'm
not allowed to talk about it much, but you know,
you just you think you know everything. But I was
a little it was a little underestimation on how much

(15:54):
the restaurants while they're they're you know, you told me, yeah,
that don't even well and I may maybe wouldn't every
single but it's close. And I did, I remember, I thought.
I looked at Sherry, and I said, this is this
is what speedy would do. It's like like I ordered
like a pizza one time, and and and I and
I wasn't all that hungry, so I had about half

(16:15):
of it left and I and I asked for it
to good for you, and I put it in there.
And and the next day on the beach, I ate
it for lunch, so it would have to buy another lunch.
And I and I thought that's called normal. I thought,
I thought, wow, this was like to be speedy. I mean,
you know, I take that as a company, not bad.
What you know, island life. We always romanticize it. You

(16:39):
picture this, but I had even the locals remind me
about island life. Island life is wonderful short term, but
you know this thing of you want to live on
an island, but you don't take things into account. Nothing's easy.
Islands that can't get anything. Everything has to be ported

(17:00):
to the island right by the way. If you get sick, oh,
by the way, that owns me right there. Yeah, that's
good breakfast. You didn't let that hat go all weak
my hat all week. Okay, look look what I got on.
I got Fidler's green on.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
You really were channeling me. It looks like I had
I would wear a bald head.

Speaker 2 (17:18):
So it's uh and right there. You think that's not
all that expension. It really is. But anyway, Burger and
Paradise they were thinking. You know, there were things like,
think about this, what if you get sick? Oh no, listen.
I forgot some horror stories about somebody had a major
medical incent and could not get backed, couldn't get to it.

(17:41):
The healthcare not very good. We were told by the locals.
If you get off the island, if you if you
have something major happen, there's nothing there's no medical here,
even stitches or anything there or not. Did you want
to be at no even stitches something simple like that.
I wouldn't want honestly. They were telling me stories back
to you know, people romanticizing healthcare too. They say, when

(18:01):
you're taking off any of the islands, everybody has to
go to Nassau. And when you get to Nassau, they
say there's the private which, by the way, that's that's cash,
and then there's the government. Well, if you've got something
that's got to be seen today. Private's your only option
because the government ain't gonna see you today. You're gonna
be told when you can have that taster, have that

(18:23):
operational while and Private give us, give us the money now.
And they were saying, so it's uh and you know
there's not a lot that I mean a lot most
everything's coming into the island. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (18:39):
And every day they thought you had money though, because
you look like you own Jurassic Park.

Speaker 2 (18:43):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (18:48):
This is a very very popular product. I'm talking about
extremely popular with the audience. And if you're not in
on m D hearing and you are a loved one
need hearing aids, game changer. What if I told you
that there are hearing a hearing aids available for you
are someone you love over ninety percent less than the

(19:11):
clinic hearing aids. Did you hear me say ninety percent? Yeah?
I mean this was created by a doctor that said,
you know what, I'm seeing my patients. A lot of
them need hearing age. The prices are way too high.
Some of them are going not being able to hear
just because of expenses, just because of the price so

(19:33):
he worked hard to come up with some great hearing
aids that are incredibly affordable. This was an ent surgeon,
and you know what, MD hearing was born, and boy,
it's been so so popular. You can get yours by
going to shop md hearing dot com. Shop md hearing
dot com, use the code Rick, and right now you

(19:55):
can get a pair of hearing aids for only two
hundred and ninety seven dollars. They're also going to add
a free extra charging case that's one hundred dollars value
because you listen to the Rick Burgess show. So to
go to shop md hearing dot com, use our promo
code Rick and get a pair of hearing ags for
just two hundred and ninety seven dollars.

Speaker 9 (20:20):
Still denying any involvements in the food fights of nineteen
seventy nine, Rick.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
Burgess, good to be back with you, American. We missed
you and hopefully you enjoy going back. In some of
the more memorable moments of the first seven months that
we're all back now, we checked on mister Chen. Adler
assures us that Chen has a new home. Might have

(20:55):
lost a little bit of his tail, but we should
not think that's a different fish all right, now whatever?
Oh the same guy. He thinks I'm river like my
poor year old grandson, right. I know. It's like how
Greg got a haircut. Mister ten lost part of his tail.
He did well, he had to adapt somehow. One he's
the only thing in there. He's like, he's like, let
meet you, let me check out walfa.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
Yeah, oh I got my.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
Tail, show us fall apart here. You did not tell me.
I wonder if you could eat your own tail? If
you're a fish, can you get hungry and eating his
own tail? Well, that's what it is. You don't chase
the tail. Yeah, you think he can get around to it. Yeah,
I got to nibbling. I think he can get around
to it. Well, it goes back to, you know, this
thing where we talk about how intelligent animals are and

(21:38):
they do do incredible things, they really do. Yeah, But
but then we start getting a little carried away and
we think that they're close to humans' abilities and how
humans were made, and we realize things like, all of
a sudden, this dog that seems to be able to
do these incredible tricks and it's well trained, just starts
chasing his tail, and you're like Okay, I realized, now
there's a deal that gap between the ones that catch

(21:59):
it and bite it.

Speaker 10 (22:00):
Right.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
Yeah, yeah, well I told you that time speaking of
being you know, traveling and uh. And we we were
on a we were in a nigga at Iowa on
a mission trip and I ran into and you know,
an agnostic who wanted to lecture me about how close
monkeys and humans are. You know, he was going to
try to sell me on on this, and he said,

(22:22):
and he gave me this big speech about do you
know what, there's just it's just a little, just a
slight difference. And we had just come from Monkey Island
and I said, but that little gap you speak of,
it's a biggie And he was like, well, what do
you mean. I said, they can't even get off this island.
I said, monkeys for generations have been on this island,

(22:43):
right he said, yes. I said, they haven't come up
with a boat. We're in a full blown boat that's
operating with the motors. And they just now figured that
they can use a stick to eat termites. Right yeah.
I said, Now that's impressive for an animal, you know,
I know, every now and then they walk up right
and looks impressive.

Speaker 11 (23:01):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:01):
And they in the animal world, they are really intelligent.
So I'm not taking that away. But you tried to
get them real close to us. Whatever you're talking about,
and agree with that difference and our makeup. That gap
is a big one. It's a big one. It's a biggie.

Speaker 10 (23:15):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (23:15):
Matter of fact, look over there with that one snacking on. Yeah,
that's big. Have you all seen and I know it's
a doing it. I've seen two or three different ones.
It's like a gorilla in the zoo. Yes, and there's
a kid that's in the pit and he picks it
up and has it. It's not real, it's not real.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I thought you're talking about the other one where they ai.
I think a monkey of some kind and he's he's
always interacting with different people.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
It's funny. I've seen two different ones. He picks it's
a big silver back and he hands and kid to
the mom. Now this the kid is just standing there
looking around. Why would he be in there? Right?

Speaker 6 (23:51):
This monkey did go to space. It was a pretty
good accomplishment.

Speaker 2 (23:57):
But I will say this up there, he did what
the other thing. Guys, don't forget about that gap again.
He didn't have a say in it, right, Yeah, a
quote from whatever the name the right stuff. Yeah. When
when I was making a comment about Gus Grisson messing
up and all and that guy think he goes just
it's just something monkey's done. And I think it was Jager.

(24:19):
He looked at me as you think that monkey and
what he was sitting on. Yeah, he said, Gus did
he did? All right, it's different that monkey had no
idea what he was sitting on. Now it's different, Speedy.
I know there's some stories today that you know, because
let's face it, you you have to deal with blindness
in your family. Happy birthday to your dad. Yeah, it
was eighty five this past Saturday, eighty five. Did you

(24:39):
see where two blind women from Florida that that Southwest
Airlines would often forget about him and left them. Yeah,
he just left him sitting there. Yeah, they were blind,
and then he was getting to the plane and nobody
helped them in the plane left. I got sixteen wheelchairs,
communication breakdown, and like I said, I thought you were
getting the blind Yeah. No, look, I've seen us really

(25:01):
make sure that the fault one got on the plane,
but we left to do blind people. Yeah, I mean
it's por left them sitting there. Yes, they don't know.

Speaker 6 (25:09):
No, I'm reading here that I'm not messing around.

Speaker 2 (25:11):
How long did they?

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Southwest offered them one hundred dollars credit after leaving just
one hundred.

Speaker 2 (25:16):
One than you. Now, don't don't forget this. They'd already
been delayed for five hours because their plane was So
you've delayed me for five hours, then you leave me? Yeah,
and then when everybody start getting on they forgot them. Okay,
after a five hour delayed us. Hey, we'll get a
bad rating on Yes, I said, you left, and so

(25:38):
you left them sitting there some one job? You had
one job. There was somebody that was in charge of that.
I forgot they left them on there. They said they
discovered they were the only two people on the on
the on the plane and they were told, you're the
only two people on this flot because we forgot about you. Yeah,
and wow, So now we need to get the guy
that was handling that. He didn't see them, well, and

(26:00):
they didn't see him either. Off But yeah, there is
no excuse. But like I said, how do you apparently apparently?
And this is where maybe we need to have the
blind more apparently, as I've talked about, and I've even
seen I forget the two guys name that are comedians,
They've got a YouTube about how they also have noticed

(26:20):
how many people get to get on the plane even
before first class, and you know, all the specialized groups.
So we make sure that everybody gets on a plane
apparently first everybody, which makes nobody special if everybody is special,
by the way, and then we can't get the blind
on there. I think the blind. I wouldn't have a
problem with the blind getting on. I would be thinking

(26:41):
to myself, well, yes, the blind should go on first.
I would say their first, all first on. You should
never have an incident where you left the blind person.
If you ask how many blind people if we forgot,
it should be zero. That's a good one, right, don't
forget the blind. I mean that's hard.

Speaker 6 (26:58):
That should be on the pilots checklist, laps check.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
Any blind people left ches. Yeah, oh wait a minute,
picture the guy when you look at it said you
had one job. Yeah, come on, right, there's not that
many here. You just make sure bond people gonna have
less than five. How do you drop that? Yeah, okay,
like it's a crowd. Then you took twenty five and
left fo Yeah. And the one thing if you say
you didn't see him nine and a half. So so

(27:24):
speaking of that, your dad who is also blind. Yeah,
I had your birthday eighty five, eighty five years mister Wilburn.
And what a celebration Saturday. It was so much fun.

Speaker 3 (27:34):
My sister and brother in law drove up from Pensacola,
and she she made a carrot cake, by the way,
which was really good. Was really good, Greg, you would
like it, matter of fact, I did about you.

Speaker 2 (27:46):
Carrot Cake's one of those things I have to get
past away. It looks and said it I think a carrot,
but it really doesn't taste like a carrot.

Speaker 3 (27:53):
But it was just a fun day, do you know.
The only thing he requested, he said, I would love
burgers and hot dogs on the grill. Nice, and I
was in charge of that, and I made we made
spiral burgers.

Speaker 2 (28:03):
He pore up the spiral dogs fantasy. He could. I mean,
my goodness, he loves once you've had spiral any other works.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
Yeah, he uh he And so anyway, so this is
the cake that my sister made, and there's as you
can see, there's six candles and then there's a big.

Speaker 2 (28:20):
Yeah, pick big eighty five there.

Speaker 3 (28:21):
So we're about to we're about to sing as a family,
and then he's going to try to blow him out,
uh and just enjoy uh this and he just got
to laugh.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
It's tough to see the candles. You can't, No, you
just know any wait, some reason so so much say something.

(28:54):
Uh okay, that's that's right, sir. Here we go. It
would go right now there to the right left there

(29:17):
that last week, that last one was raised. He couldn't
help it. I got to help. Yeah, I'm but one. Yeah,
and so you know, grinning.

Speaker 3 (29:27):
You don't think that man right there, how frustrated I'd
be throwing stuff across the right if I couldn't blow
out a candle. He's the same, he's just like, it's
such a better person than all of us.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
Yes, it is what it is, right, you know. But
he just had he had a tough time with that
last one. I gotta tell you the good right up
he did he did. I think that honestly like you.
I think if I was blind to be a jerk, yes,
you would have left me at the airport. Somebody come
get right. Yeah, you wouldn't left me so right, right,

(30:04):
don't you leave me? Right? Fielm movement. I con sens it. So,
you know, everything has to have his spot around the house. Uh,
for my dad, he doesn't use a stick or anything
like that.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
He goes by feel and and Lynn, uh, my sister called.
You know, she's, oh my gosh, we gotta take pictures.
And everybody's like, oh no, Aunt Lynn. She's about to
say something about pictures, and she was like, hey, it's
picture time. Let's all go to the front yard before
we do, you know, the cake and everything. Well, he
comes out there. I'd gotten out there first or whatever.

(30:39):
And he comes out there and I notice he's got
a blue a blue mark on his forehead, like something
that he had been hit or folly.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
And I said, Dad, what happened?

Speaker 3 (30:48):
He goes, somebody left the door half open, and and
see back to your point, I'd be spitting mad.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
I'd have been throwing up. Somebody left the door open.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
He's just like some man, somebody left the door open.
And he's like only almost got cut, like he's bleeding.
He's just a blue mark. But it's just everything's got
to have its spot. And I'm like Dad, you have
got so you have some med He just laughs it
off and just has a great.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
I don't have that off. I know, hit your head
on like a cabinet door. Yeah, I think he walked
right into the side. Actually, I'm actually I've actually run
into a door facing just like that. Of course I was.
I wasn't blind, but well I was momentarily. But the uh,
but it's been that was about nineteen eighty six, but

(31:37):
it was it's temporary, right, it was. I was self induced.
But there's a couple of umpires I thought were blind. Yeah, right,
good news is we've got chicks calling balls and strokes. Yeah,
saw that? All that you seen? It though? Agated me.
Then I saw a picture I said, I thought it
was supposed to be a woman. I know all that.
I didn't think it was. But I know she set
up you almost fanned out or your sister did the

(31:59):
candles in a way where he was gonna hit some up. Yeah,
because I start thinking maybe she used to have a single.
But I think a single is harder. It is it.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
It's hard to find, and we try to go left,
you know, hey, you left to right? Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
And I felt like we probably put too much on
his burger. Uh, and that was tough.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
That was tough.

Speaker 2 (32:20):
I'm gonna cut it. You know, if you have a
tall burger and you go to biking on it, things
are gonna squirt out. Yes, I mean we got tomatoes
over here, we got let you doing it one right,
That's what I'm saying. You know, he's like boys making
a mess. I said, yes it is.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who has
never been fashionably leaped to anything weak.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Here we going, man, I come, We're back from vacation.
Thanks for being with us, and we've got a lot
to cover. We've covered a lot already. Anything you missed,
grab it on the Daily Archives. The gang all here today, speedy,
Greg and Adler just ending a few stories and Speedy.
This one, I think for you is a little bit

(33:20):
rough because even though it's I got hurt pretty bad,
just the second hand embarrassment of I'm celebrating a victory
is not good. And I mean he was seriously injured.
He's okay though. NASCAR driver Connor Zilicious, he says, listening,
z I l I s clich zillich Zilich. As you said, Greg,

(33:42):
this is a problem for NASCAR because it's a nineteen
year old that I've never heard of. Yeah, it was
an Infinity series. He's Exfinity. Yeah, that's right, which used
to be the Bush Series. Got you. So he wins
the Exfinity race in the number eighty eight, bless his
heart and speedy. He gets the victory lane and guys,
I mean you said it could have killed him. Yes, yes,

(34:06):
we hear people all the time. You get punched and
then you hit the ground, your head hits concrete. He
falls around his head. He's trying to get out of
his car to do the victory lane celebration. You're going
to make me watch this. Have you not seen this?

Speaker 4 (34:18):
No, you hadn't seen it, Speedy, this is is what.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Yes, they had the Hall of mine, broke his collar
bone and knocked hisself out coat, so he didn't get
to celebrate. Story.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
He's getting out of the car about to stand on it.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
So right now he's okay and he's about not to
be he doing Hey, he survived the race.

Speaker 2 (34:41):
He's just celebrating. Okay, So is he okay?

Speaker 5 (34:44):
Now?

Speaker 11 (34:45):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (34:45):
Okay, but it was broken. This is hard, This is scary. Okay,
watch this? So I have to watch this. Oh my god.
So he's okay, okay, he's got dead legs. He's got
dead legs.

Speaker 12 (34:58):
And guys, oh no, no, my god, he is out.

Speaker 2 (35:04):
Look at you when your hands do ye? Gosh, he's
doing the fencing response. Dude, he's knocked. Saw what happened?
He could have killed him? Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Yeah, his foot slipped, yes, and and and went back
into the car.

Speaker 4 (35:18):
Yes, and so his head is just going down, his
feet stand up in the window.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Gosh, those of you. Man, he's out, he's think this
happens more awful? Look show greg. Guy, No, I'm not here.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
He's please, don't look at everybody's reaction. Look at it
in the back. Look look in the back. Look in
the back.

Speaker 2 (35:36):
They're fine. I'm like, oh my god. All right. It's
like to him when he gets tackled, Yes, he does.
Minded Dolphins fans, the Dolphin fans have seeing this many times. Yes,
that's that's that's scary.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
If it's a if it's a UFC fight, Herb Dean
is running in to say stop the fight.

Speaker 2 (35:59):
Stop. We heard in this. Yes, it brought people in
that could have killed it. Yeah, it could have killed him.
Cracked his skull and killed.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Okay, so he's his legs aren't there? Oh no, no, oh, no, one.

Speaker 2 (36:16):
They could have broke his legs. His foot did get
caught between the seat and the door.

Speaker 4 (36:21):
And you know what messed him up to is he
had the can of you know, the energy drink sponsor
in his hand. You know you're thinking about that he
doesn't want and that messed him.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
Oh my god, could you please stop showing up.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
Times?

Speaker 2 (36:37):
So listen, let's just say this is terrible. It's a
dangerous sport. But imagine when you know a driver, if
you hear a driver didn't make it, and you go
all the way to have it herash. No, Actually he
was standing on the car celebrating and fell and hit
his head. It's not the same the same, not the
same as three died or others in the past. Right,

(36:58):
you know he's I think we've recorded every any person
dying following out in victory lane and praise the Lord.
He's okay, yeah, ud collar bone yeah. And of course
oh yeah, they said NASCAR has already been very very
aggressive about this. Now the drivers have to leave their
helmet on all the way through victory lane.

Speaker 6 (37:21):
Insensitive but goody, you're going.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
To stand on the car, you must keep your helmet on.
He is lucky didn't snap his leg. Oh yeah, that leg. Yeah,
that was bad. That steel shout. Oh my goodness. So
it brought people to his aid that weren't even supposed
to do anything but stand there in the background, like
NASCAR volunteers. No matter who you are, you saw that.

(37:44):
You go, that ain't yet. Yeah, and then you go,
do we move him? Do we not move him? He said,
there with steff arms, you know, you.

Speaker 4 (37:50):
Know, And I honestly I think the drink in his
hand messed him up. Look he's holding the drink up
like I don't want.

Speaker 2 (37:55):
To spell it. Make Greg Brown. Yeah, see look at
that legs going the opposite My look, that's that he's young.
That's an older driver. He's dead. That's Dick Trickle. That
is the ultimate. You can't have he died twice, Craig. Yeah,

(38:15):
but I'm just saying that that would have happened while
he was around. Yeah, it does take me back to
the grape stumper. That lady. You know, it's a very
great lady. It's very very happy and excited. She was
seriously injured too. She broke several rials. Watch watch, watch speed.
He just melt. Don't miss what that situation is. He

(38:36):
has won the race. I know he's happy.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Look at his crew. They think, Hey, we're about to celebrate,
and the understanding. They're going, what's going on?

Speaker 2 (38:43):
Pictures? Your son, he's nineteen, he just won the race.
You're getting pictures and you worry about his safety. But
not in that situation. You think it's circle. You know, Yeah,
that's like your that's like your son's the quarterback and
you were nervous the whole game. He wins the game.
You're excited that he gets in the golf cart and

(39:03):
get and crashes it.

Speaker 6 (39:05):
Yeah, like they're hoisting him up on their shoulders.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
And they dropped him when his head. That's a grave.
Where i'd go to is I go?

Speaker 3 (39:11):
Now I'm in the I'm in the hospital room. And
now you wake up and you're the what happened? Well,
you were celebrating, you know what? And you fail?

Speaker 2 (39:20):
What one more time? Did I win the rage? Yes?
You knocked out and then we carried you off. What
are you talking about? I know there's no way, he remembers.
They did say before he left the track. That he
was talking, so it wasn't like, you know, still dream
but you can be talking and not remember it.

Speaker 12 (39:39):
Here the last, last time, last time here, Okay, Lie, anyway.

Speaker 2 (39:54):
It's okay, now we care.

Speaker 1 (39:57):

Speaker 5 (40:54):
Hard guy.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Speedy, Greg and Abby and all here. We're one hour in.
If you miss it, go catch in on the archive
every day. Talk to some archivers. Last night we'll talk
about that. Had a great trip after I got back
to the country, and we'll hit that a little bit
coming up football season, fellas, I mean, here we go,
yeah we go, I mean here we go. A couple

(41:21):
of stories. Now, if you are a big time college
football fan, you know most everybody right now, you're trying
to figure out. You know, it's kind of like professional football.
You don't know who's on your team. You don't know
who's decided to stay. And frankly, you don't know who's
been arrested over the weekend. So you've got to you
so you really don't know who you have at practice today.

(41:42):
You know who made it without being arrested over the weekend.
Had they decided to leave you to go for another team,
you really don't know. Sadly, LSU has a freshman running back,
j T. Lindsey has turned himself into authorities as he
faced accusations. Now thinking look, none of it's good, I thought, Okay,

(42:03):
he's he's been he's been caught twisting a good one. Yeah,
he's been puffing on Mary Jane, some kind of possession
of something. I hate to say, that's my first thought.
Something happened at a local bar, Things got a little rowdy.
I didn't expect to read accused of harboring two murderers
in donow I would call that that's that's next level.

(42:27):
So what happened to this freshman guy? You know, well,
he's got we got problems. What happened. He's harboring two
murderers in his dorm room. That's the allegation, not one.
And you know what you got to you got to
dig him. I mean a freshman, not harboring just one murderer,
but two too. Yeah. So and apparently they're seventeen and eighteen.
Uh they want they wanted from arm robbery and second

(42:47):
degree murder uh in Louisiana. So the US Marshals are involved.
They've apprehended both suspects. So if you're the coach, this
one's new, you know, do you bring them in? Does
he say I didn't murder anybody? I was just harboring
some murderers on the team, disciplined? How does this go?

Speaker 9 (43:11):
Brian?

Speaker 2 (43:12):
What do you do here? It's not good?

Speaker 3 (43:16):
Does it say in there? Because I know I actually printed,
but I didn't read the whole thing. Did Hey, I
didn't know they had done this? Uh you know they were,
they were with me, and I had not. I didn't
know what they had done.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
I guess he could say I'm a team player. He was.

Speaker 6 (43:29):
I mean, he's charged with accessory after the fact.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Right, you have harboring them and keeping them in a
safe place where they can't be found.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
And right, wow, you know back in the old days
you were just trying to sneak your girlfriend into the
dorm room. Yeah, now it's murderers. Yeah, things have changed,
they have. They just a really sure have. So so
there you go. And then I saw some other arrest
over the weekend with various teams. Yeah, yeah, so you can.
It's not good. Auburn had them one, Auburn had something

(43:59):
going on Auburn foot Yeah, so you go to this
and so here's what the coaches are dealing with now.
All right, First of all, it's free agency. They can
leave in any time. We have to pay them lots
of money. Yep, they're going to be paid. There's an
unlimited transfer portal. And and then you finally get some people,
and then you got to work through all the criminal charges,

(44:19):
you know, and see how many how many you end
up with. I'm telling you, if you're a football fan,
you have no idea what your roster is. You know,
there's so many things that don't get used to anybody
that may not be there.

Speaker 3 (44:30):
You know, I was on vacation. You get so checked
out of the daily grind. Here is you know, you
always have to be up on the news and the
sports and everything, and part of vacation is just kind
of getting, you know, way checked out a little bit.
And I was getting my news updates from Terry because
I mean, I couldn't care less about it.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
And she had said, man, I hate what happened to
the Detroit Lions football player. And I said, what are
you talking about? I didn't even know.

Speaker 3 (44:54):
And apparently there was an ugly headneck situation where the
ambulance actually came onto the field, and she had told
me about it.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
I missed it completely.

Speaker 3 (45:04):
And then so I did some research and it was
looking and it looked like that he was in stable condition,
had movement in his extremities, but it was a.

Speaker 2 (45:10):
Very scary situation. Did you see the hit? It didn't
look good. Yeah, I went and looked his you know,
his body leaves the ground. So now he's kind of
a pinball and everybody's knocking around. He has no stability
because he's in the air. And then and then I
think somebody's knee coming in might've been the worst thing
that happened to him. You know, you think it's the
initial hit. Then as you look, you know a lot
of times you ever seen somebody You ever seen somebody

(45:31):
get knocked out and you're like, what happened? Right? And
you realize somebody's knee hit him right in the back
of the head, right argue the ground. You know, that's
one of the things that somebody hit, head hit. You
can do all the rules you want to, it's kind
of hard to stop that from happening. Did y'all see that?

Speaker 4 (45:44):
The so the Falcons and the Lions had twelve minutes
left or so in the fourth and just let time
run out.

Speaker 2 (45:52):
Yeah, they did not continue the game because the injury
was so bad that they stood there and prayed and
just let time run out.

Speaker 1 (46:00):
Good.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
See how his feet leave the ground right there, and
in slow motion you can see he gets he gets
knocked around like a pinball machine. And so they just decided,
since it's a preseason game and they're all a little
shook by it, that they were just going I saw
they prayed at one point, which was good, and they
just let the time run out.

Speaker 3 (46:16):
Yeah, get up an anytime you have an ambulance at midfield,
that's not good.

Speaker 2 (46:21):
Well I didn't. Yeah, they took him off an ambulance
and and then speedy you were talking about. See that's
what they did for for twelve minutes. Now that's or
that's a good thing. But I bet that that's a
long twelve that's a long time, even with the hot clock.
Yeah it is. Is there a little bit you just go,
why we don't I mean, can't you have to actually

(46:42):
run the clock out? Yeah? Well, and also can't can't
we just I mean, we obviously need to care and
we need to be praying, and it's traumatizing all that,
but you probably can finish the gamely. You know, I've
done it before, right, Because here's one thing I think about.
You guys are saying it's a pretty hear me out
and the coaches have seen what they need to see

(47:03):
that they were done, have they? Well I'm pretty sure.
I mean, what if you're the guy that was trying
to make tham you ain't going to play yet you're
about to play in the last twelve minutes. There's that
there's some things more important than the game.

Speaker 3 (47:14):
Well, I know, but he's not dead, but we don't
know that at the time he gets carried off in
an ambulance, right, But that.

Speaker 2 (47:19):
Happens a lot in football, not a lot. It does
not a lot. It happens, but not a lot a
lot of bad injuries. Yeah, yeah, but am I wrong?
I guess stand up did I'm not saying it's the
wasn't that play.

Speaker 6 (47:31):
It's the Lions player.

Speaker 2 (47:33):
It's the Lions player.

Speaker 6 (47:34):
It's then I was looking at the running back too.

Speaker 4 (47:38):
He does get up, Greg, You're right, it's the it's
the Lions player right here.

Speaker 2 (47:41):
On the ground, on the ground number twenty. He's right here.

Speaker 4 (47:44):
Okay, yes, yes, yes, So it's not the.

Speaker 2 (47:50):
Yeah boom. That was the hit right there, and his
head kind of went like it was just it was
a bad scene.

Speaker 3 (47:58):
And then he's not moving, he's he's just laying there,
and so I guess you just make trying to make
the best part of it.

Speaker 4 (48:05):
So what sent the running back into the air was
hitting the Lions player's head with his knee in m
That's what sent him in the.

Speaker 3 (48:14):
You know, it's one of those situations. Back to what
you had mentioned, Rick, It's just a tough call, man,
because you've got you got this, you got the fans
that paid money to be there, you got the vendor.
I mean, you have this long day atmosphere, and that's
a tough decision.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
Yeah, and and and that that person's well being is
more important than all those things. But those things are
still important, right, you know for people that are trying
to make make the team. You know that, you know,
but it doesn't affect your starters. But I mean, you
got people that I mean, they're they're missing twelve minutes
of a preseason game. There, there's not a lot of
time for them to show. You know, I'm not and
I'm not saying you want to find out if he's

(48:50):
okay and you want to have the proper respect. I'm
just saying, is it necessary to go that far with it? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (48:56):
And again, I mean I was informed by Terry that
this even happened. But but I'm assuming that the head
coaches probably came together and they were like, look, man,
I'm good, I've seen what I need. I mean, you
know what I'm saying. I mean, I probably think there's
no sense in continuing.

Speaker 2 (49:12):
Uh. We also had the Cowboys Cede Lamb collide with
an NFL official.

Speaker 3 (49:17):
All right, so he's in street closes, he's not playing.
Speaking of the starters, and you know the line, judge,
you know that you know the little white spot or
the line where he's running up and down or she
now is running up and down the sidelines following the play. Well,
you've got that's got to have the open area, coaches, players,
nobody can be in that area. Well, he had stepped
up and he was in that one that runs on

(49:40):
and so he gets hit and whiplashed here, probably harder
than most hits till half all year, because this line
judge is running boom and uh oh.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
Wow, out of the way to the ground. By the way,
that one if got injured, that line judge just hit
a lot of money, Yeah, so much money. Yeah, but
he's not paying attention. No, he's not.

Speaker 3 (50:01):
He's stepped up and he's almost onto the playing field
because he and he gets hit here.

Speaker 2 (50:09):
And it was a bad by the way, that should
be six right there. But the quarterback under throw he did,
he did had him beat.

Speaker 13 (50:15):
He had.

Speaker 12 (50:17):
Man.

Speaker 2 (50:18):
How about that neck going back?

Speaker 6 (50:19):
Yeah, we have seen some celebrations go very badly.

Speaker 2 (50:22):
We have, we have, we really have. We have so
uh and then also as we as we end the
football segment, apparently apparently should your Sanders had a pretty
good preseason game. Yeah, shoulder got in there and and
did a good job. Yeah, showed that a little bit.

Speaker 3 (50:39):
We were at an event and Greg and I worked together,
and I started getting text Oh my goodness, you know,
notifications that he did really.

Speaker 2 (50:45):
Did he do that good or just people expected him
not to do good? I don't know, of course. Yeah,
coming from people that made a living off low expectations,
they do help they did, That's what I'm saying. I mean,
obviously he didn't play bad. Yeah, thank you to a
couple of bigs.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The people who don't
like this show, you wouldn't like anyway, the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Thank you America for being with us today. What a blast,
what a blast, with a blast. Good to be back
from vacation. Guess some vacation stories coming up next hour.
So I know for a lot of you. By the way,
the guys were telling me the break that we had
a kid in the in a preseason game kick a
seventy yardfield goal. Yeah for the Jaguars, seventy one, and

(51:48):
it doesn't count. Seven zero doesn't count because this preseason yep,
doesn't count as a record. Seventy seventy Can you believe that?
Good gracious Black Speedy said you're lining up to kicking
the midfield logos in front of you. Yes, you know
that's about kickers, just like everything that they're getting where
they can uh you know, just the athletes, and and
then even kickers are getting where they can kick further

(52:10):
than ever in the athletes, you're getting bigger, stronger, faster
and hell had it forever Jack Dempsey. You just referred
him as old club It's a weird little club foot.
He remember that. Yeah, it's like a half a foot,
all right, So this is the field the record forever.
Yeah he is. He's standing on his forty yeah and

(52:30):
on his yeah. So he is on his you're right,
hangs hang time. He killed it, guys. He makes that
relatively easy.

Speaker 4 (52:41):
In the air, in the air, in the air, still
in the air, still in the air, still in the air,
through the goal post.

Speaker 2 (52:46):
Seventy isn't crazy? Yeah? Who Greg refers to his old
club foot? Yeah it was. Butler beat him from right.
Butler kicked it further right. The guy from Georgia I remember,
had it for a while and he was a guy.
Now they said it the other day. I've never heard
of and I think it's sixty six. Is the current record,
by the way, was it elam that Also speaking of

(53:07):
living on an island, there was a Hawaii and at
one point was talking to dad about coming to Jacksonville State.
He was from like Jordan, and Dad was like, you
know you probably you know, I'd love to have you,
but I mean you wouldn't even think that out yeah,
you know, And because he was like he recruited him
before he went. Yeah, He's like, wow, you know, I'm
on an island and starts out here. He had a
really good Yeah he did.

Speaker 6 (53:28):
It was Tom Dempsey, Uh, non Jack Dampsey Jack.

Speaker 2 (53:31):
Did you call him Jack Dimpson? That was the box
was clubfoot, Yeah, Tom Dempsey and he had a half
arm too, Yes, Greg, he did. Hey and now was
the kid.

Speaker 6 (53:40):
But now it is sixty six yards justin Tucker.

Speaker 2 (53:43):
Okay, say what you wanted about that. But twenty twenty
one though, But Dempsey held the record for year a
long time and people thought the club foot might have
been an advantage. I think it was you. Yeah, he's
straight on kicker because he had had that. He had
that she had still in front of it. Yeah, he
had remember that little half foot. Yeah, thought that that
wasn't fair. Right, yeah, because well he had him. He's
still in front now. It's just hard to call it

(54:05):
guy hand. You're right, yeah, so.

Speaker 3 (54:08):
You meant you mentioned Jack Dempsey and it made me
think the boxer and we have a story to look.

Speaker 2 (54:15):
At that foot, yeah, let's see it. I see straight
on kick. So he couldn't do a soccer style with
that foot. No, y, his chin strap didn't even cover
his chin. He didn't want the trap. It's right. Look
I mean his face mask. Sorry, his face mask didn't
even cover his chin. His face max was it was
even with his nose. He's not worried. Even then, a

(54:37):
lot of the quarterbacks didn't wear no. I mean remember
brad Shaw until he changed.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
With almost his eyes or his nurse time when he
he broke, Well, they had more time to did you
see him?

Speaker 2 (54:49):
He was able to kind of so much almost stutter stuff.
Well and and and guys, we have to say though
he kicked it that far, just straight on, straight on.
I remember the straight down kick. The last one I
remember was that guy for the Redskins. He was the
last of them. You're right, at one of the dying breed.
Straight don kicker there.

Speaker 3 (55:08):
You anyway back to Jack Dempsey and boxing and all this.
We have a story today. Is it true that there
was a Japanese two Japanese boxers.

Speaker 2 (55:18):
That died after they fault? Yes, what trauma? I don't
think they from two different fights, but it was the
same weekend or maybe on the same card. I ain't sure.
We have Yeah, we have a story on today we'll
have to jump into just maybe think about it had
trauma and all that. Ain't that's something well I didn't
I didn't hear that.

Speaker 4 (55:38):
Also at the same Tokyo event, two fighters die. It
looks like there was separate It was separate fights.

Speaker 2 (55:46):
Same event and the same event. Yeah. People, many people
die every year in boxing.

Speaker 4 (55:52):
Uh. I don't know if a lot of people know that,
but a couple of people die every single year. I
did not know that no one has ever died in
the UFC.

Speaker 2 (56:01):
Okay, well, oh, okay, they have. He always finds a
way back to the Well.

Speaker 3 (56:06):
The guy that got slammed this past weekend, I'm surprised
he survived that. The body slam the pick up you
know how you you pick up somebody and then slam
them on their masks. Yeah, slammed him in his It
was on his neck.

Speaker 2 (56:18):
Yeah, that's right. Look like I was like, how do
you even get up after that? When he did and
he was out? But you know what I mean, how
do you even survive that? I mean he was it
was one of those things where you know, you lock
around the waist. Yeah, and he picked him up and
it was like, damn ye guys.

Speaker 6 (56:33):
That's why that's a that's the risk of going full guard.

Speaker 2 (56:35):
Here it is right here, speed exactly right. I missed that.

Speaker 4 (56:39):
Yeah, in the UFC, your knees to you're not allowed
to spear someone into the ground, but this like kind
of a flat slam on their back is fine.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
You can't.

Speaker 6 (56:48):
You can't like send their head. You're not supposed to
send their head into the ground.

Speaker 2 (56:52):
But didn't. Didn't It wouldn't his head slam into onto
the mask his head. It's more of a string. That
why he's laying there knocked out cold. He is out. Yeah,
guy did punch him as he's laying there, Yes, yeah,
gotta follow up.

Speaker 3 (57:03):
But it's almost like sometimes you see that they follow
more of it and it's a flat back, you know,
like ges but he fell where his neck was like that.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
I was like that okay. Uh, and then the guy
co cox him one more time. A couple.

Speaker 6 (57:18):
Just make sure you don't stop until the herb Deane
tells you to stop.

Speaker 5 (57:23):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (57:23):
He was he did that was That guy's name was Cosima,
and he was able to leave the octagon under his
own power after that. But guys, I'm so out of
the loop on the whole fighting thing.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
I just might.

Speaker 4 (57:35):
I got destroyed by yard work and my children just
for a week straight, and I'm back here at work
to rest and catch up on what's actually going on
in the world.

Speaker 7 (57:42):
Now.

Speaker 2 (57:42):
You're at that time of life, and I remember it vividly.
Your your kid's age, and we'll come out, we'll talk
about school starting for everybody, which you know a lot
of people out in our audience right now in a
whole different schedule again because school's back at it. But
you're you're at that point in your life, and I
remember it vividly, y'all. Do to guys. You you go

(58:03):
back to work to rest? Oh yeah, because kids, you Yeah,
the vacation is exhausting, if not more than a regular
work week. I mean, I remember that vividly coming back
off vacation, and I had a job that was actually
hard work, and I still was ready to get back. Yeah,
it ain't like I was working here, No, you know right.
I pressure watch so much that I felt like I

(58:24):
should start my own company. Oh I felt the same way.
I got jungle ride in my feet because of how much.

Speaker 4 (58:30):
Time I spent pressure watching this this weekend, my toes
turned into much my wet and beat for twelve hours,
many days in a row.

Speaker 2 (58:37):
You think that was rough? I sat on a beautiful
island for seven straight days? Oh my, did you do it? Lady?
Don't hand in foot bird?

Speaker 1 (58:45):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. He doesn't OCD. He
just likes things to be a certain ways.

Speaker 2 (59:01):
How about it, America. Good to be back having a
blast with you as always. So coming up this week
everything returns to normal. So Wednesday, Bible Study will be
back Strange Encounters and another episode coming out this weekend

(59:21):
on the new podcast as well. So hopefully you got
caught up on archives from the Bible Studies and the
podcast that you may have missed did get new episodes
though on Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits in Radio Golds.
Hopefully you're still enjoying that as well. Looking back over
the three decades of the Rick and Bubba Show enjoyed
those moments too. So school has started back. Somebody said

(59:43):
on text you you're saying school or school where we're from,
you call it school school to go back to school
Calhoun County when school start? Yepool going to school? Straight
up school? Yeah, by the way, I don't know how
it happened, especially being on vacation and going away and
just trying to just be refreshed. I had a stress

(01:00:04):
stream about school. Do y'all have those students? Yeah? I'm
in the class I hadn't studied. How can it? Yes?
I had one while I was gone, And in my
dream it's either that I have this one that's reoccurring
and it happened again for some reason. On my schedule
there's two classes that I've never attended, and I keep

(01:00:26):
wondering what's going to happen? And like, can I just
go in there and see if I can catch up?
Should I just never go? I have the same? Do
you really? And then I think, I mean that's going
to be anxiety because I've messed up. I'm mad am,
I gonna get a zero? Is that an f? Is
it an incomplete still, but now that I'm not in school,

(01:00:48):
I do not have that. I had it last week. Well,
I will tell you this now, I will because you've
brought it up. That and the one where I'm trying
to get somewhere and I'm trying, like I'm in a
building and I keep going in the wrong rooms and
I can't find it. Or sometimes I'm even in a stadium.
I've got lost, and we'll go through this gate. All that,
ain't it? And I'm supposed to do something I can't
get there because I'm lost in the building. Mine is

(01:01:08):
I at that one? Minus it ties into that they
combine them sometimes. Today I've decided I'm going to that
class and try and see if I talk to the
teacher and get it right. And then I can't find
the class exactly what is the topping class?

Speaker 4 (01:01:23):
And he's so frustrating, your saying, everybody get in the van.
Why isn't everybody getting in the Okay, No, you need
to get in the van. Get in the van, and
then it's eight hours of that in your dream, and
You're like, this is so frustrating.

Speaker 2 (01:01:35):
I have the one custom what we do for a
living where I'm here and we can't get anything. We
can't get on there? Oh rack. Yeah, I've had that one.
I'm in there at the screen and I'm panicking, and
then back to the you're holding two cords together that
don't work. It does work, Greg back in the rock
band days. I've showed up at the Amphitheater and I
look and nothing's on the stage, and like the crowd

(01:01:57):
is like here, and I'm like, guess we're not setting
that even ready, we're not renning. I was just looking
at you silent, like yeah, what are y'all gonna do?

Speaker 9 (01:02:02):
And why?

Speaker 2 (01:02:03):
And I'm like, I, guys, I want I'm out here. Yeah,
where's the sound? So y'all have these recurring dreams. I
don't really different versions of the same theme. Okay, so
I didn't have.

Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
I did have a weird dream over the vacation and
we were in there, Terry and I, well, Terry and
I were sitting and it was some you know how
sometimes you you're you're somewhere, but you don't really know
where it is. It's like it was a speaking engagement
of some kind and we were in the middle of
a row and it was a very serious moment.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
I couldn't really ever figure out where we were.

Speaker 3 (01:02:32):
But I had to pee, Oh boy, and and and
but I could get up, and Terry was saying, I
would be rude if I got up, And so she said,
just peeking your pants.

Speaker 2 (01:02:40):
You're gonna have to do. You just have to stay
right here. No, I almost did. I woke up. It's
because I had to pee, just a little bit of dribble.

Speaker 3 (01:02:48):
No, I think I'm fine. No, she said, You're just
gonna have to pee in your pants.

Speaker 2 (01:02:54):
I thought that was so weird. I'm like, why would
I do that? I kin, there's also easy dream. There's
also dream. There's also the speaking engagement. I forgot about.
Oh wait a minute, that actually happened. She actually did that.
It's all right, but so so scoop. Uh started back

(01:03:14):
for so many people, and Adler, you're the only one
that has anybody in Greg has grandchildren, you know that
started to school? And uh and Ruby started what what?

Speaker 11 (01:03:24):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
Where's she at?

Speaker 13 (01:03:25):
Now?

Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
Is this four K? This is kindergarten? Whoa big girl? Now? Yeah, y'all.
It was wow.

Speaker 4 (01:03:34):
And because she has been both both I and my
wife worked full time, so our kids are in a
full time daycare and the dropping Ruby off on that
first day.

Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
This was back in Covid by the way, and.

Speaker 4 (01:03:49):
We had to like meet the principal at the door
and it was like, you can't even come in, and
that was a.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
Weird moment whatsoever.

Speaker 4 (01:03:57):
And right, absolutely, that was a weird moment and hard
and you just worry the whole time.

Speaker 2 (01:04:05):
This And I thought I was kind of over that.
You thought, this is not as dramatic for me. I
thought I was over that.

Speaker 4 (01:04:11):
But man, when and it was actually really fortunate that
we were off because I was able to ride with
my wife and do the drop off for her fastday
of kindergarten. Yes, it was fantastic to be able to
be there for that moment. But buddy, when she gets
when they because they opened the door at this school,
they opened the door, they get their backpack out, you

(01:04:33):
know that she and and when she's walking away from
the car with her little backpack, I'm just staying in
the car and.

Speaker 2 (01:04:39):
Just watching her big little self go Like that was
harder than I thought. It was gonna be precious and
so enjoy it. Enjoy it, buddy, because you're a senior picture.

Speaker 4 (01:04:52):
Yes, yes, they put the sign in the yard that
has the graduation date on it. I'm like, that's closer
than i'd like it to be. Oh yeah, that's not
I want that to be in the forties, not in
the thirties. Yeah, but if she everything goes okay, she'll
be graduating in the thirties.

Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
And I don't love that. Twenty thirties. And unlike their parents,
our children mostly graduate on time. Yes, right, see it.

Speaker 6 (01:05:18):
I see her doing well in school, unlike her dad.

Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
Right, But buddy, it was it was a big moment, man,
And I honestly it bothered me for the rest of
the day.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Oh really, you know, yeah, it was like I kept
thinking about it.

Speaker 4 (01:05:30):
I did get to jiu jitsu, and so for about
thirty seconds I stopped thinking about it for about thirty seconds.
Thirty man, you know, she she she walks out of
school and I like, meet her at a crosswalk now, and.

Speaker 2 (01:05:44):
She's just so big and it just happened so quick.
My goodness, don't blink. Don't you go to this.

Speaker 6 (01:05:53):
But we had a great week off, just Ruby and
I just it was a really nice time to spend.

Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
Some time because her her school was all because her
day care school was also closed during this past week.
So it was dad a rama all week long as
my wife, who was a teacher, was preparing to come
back to school. Yeah you know, she's got that's like
her super Bowl was last week as well, so it
was mania. In fact, I took Ruby to one of
those trampoline jumping places that was brave.

Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
You guys know about these trampoline about the one where
people are carried away and analyses. Yeah, yeah, jacked up.

Speaker 4 (01:06:27):
So many boxes to check on that waiver. So, man,
and now I see why they make you sign a
new one every year. I was a little upset.

Speaker 2 (01:06:35):
I hadn't been in over a year.

Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
I had to go sign a waiver again. So I
had to go back to the back of the way business.
This is ridiculous, a flip tables and stuff. And I
was like, this is how you react to bad situations
in public. Ruby, That's what I said to her.

Speaker 2 (01:06:52):
Yeah, No, I was cool. Was cool.

Speaker 6 (01:06:55):
She was not as cool.

Speaker 2 (01:06:56):
But I was like, we got to go through this
thing on the iPad. We just please just wait.

Speaker 4 (01:06:59):
I know you see children jumping and laughing happily and
ten feet away, but please let me sign this waiver.
Hang on. So and I'm in it. It's just Ruby
and I and so I'm doing all the stuff. If
she goes and tries to do the warped wall, I'm
gonna go and try and do the wharf. If she
jumps into the phone pit, I'm jumping in the into

(01:07:20):
the phone And there is at this particular trampoline place,
they have a tight rope like a like a tight
rope over a phone pit. You can walk a tight
rope over a phone pit. And I'm like, you know what,
I can. I think I'm gonna give this a shot. Dad,
I'm gonna give it a shot. So I get on
this tight rope and I'm walking and I get like

(01:07:43):
two steps in and I'm like, I start losing my balance.
I fall and I kind of fell and it kind
of whipped me in a flip. And getting out of
these phone pits is incredibly difficult.

Speaker 2 (01:07:59):
It's like swimming in quicksands. You've seen the big woman
that disappeared when she fell in there, and yeah where
she was found you down there mats, She's went all
the way through all the cushion and everything.

Speaker 4 (01:08:10):
And most of the normal parents are sitting in chairs
watching their kids. So there's parents around watching me do this, Well,
you're the same size.

Speaker 2 (01:08:19):
I flipping it. Yeah, And they're all like that kid's
he's got facial hair. He's too old, right.

Speaker 4 (01:08:24):
I get out of the pit and touch my back
pocket and realize my phone is gone.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Yes, in the pit, the phone pit, that is, you'll
never find it. I didn't think.

Speaker 4 (01:08:39):
I thought I was going to get a cat across
the tight rope, but I didn't. So now I'm like,
stop stopping. Kids are trying to jump into the phone.

Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
You're that guy. You're ruining everything. They're jumping in where
you are. I'm sorry, my dad. My dad's ruining the
day at my side and so and and now, but
now kids are actually helping me.

Speaker 6 (01:09:00):
So shout out to the kids and we're now it's
we're throwing.

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
The dollar for whoever finds my phone.

Speaker 4 (01:09:07):
And I go, I go it's black. And one of
the little girls goes, ooh. I'm like, yeah, I know
that hurts me.

Speaker 2 (01:09:14):
Y'all we did.

Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
I'm thinking, I'm I live here. Now, I'm like, oh no.
A mom comes up and she's like, what's.

Speaker 5 (01:09:19):
Your phone number. I'll call it.

Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
It's probably on silent, but I'll call it anyway. And
I know it's on silent, but I still give her.
I don't know why I always try. I don't know why.
Why is this woman's number in your phone? Why does
this lady call you?

Speaker 7 (01:09:31):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
No one, no wonder, you don't want me to go right?

Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
And so the lady, the lady did call it, and
she goes anyway, strike to voy Smail.

Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
I was like, I knew it was, why not even
give you my number?

Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
I'm in the pit and she's yelling at me.

Speaker 2 (01:09:47):
Down into the pit is a pit coming up to
like your your chin. And I'm digging in the.

Speaker 6 (01:09:53):
Pit and I a see through a tunnel of blocks.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
I see it.

Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
It is pinched in between two blocks, ready to follow
you even deeper into the abyss.

Speaker 2 (01:10:01):
I reached down to you and I hold it up
in there. I'm like, yes, I got it. And everybody
loved it. Yeah, everybody.

Speaker 4 (01:10:08):
And so the kids get to play again, and so
for some reason, I'm like, I gotta conquer this tightrope.

Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
So now my phone in my hand a tightrope.

Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
And I get on the tightrope again, and I'm trying
to take a step or two. And remember how I
said to the about the guy that uh, the NASCAR
driver that.

Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
Hit his head.

Speaker 4 (01:10:31):
Yeah, okay, I smashed my knee because I'm on this
thing and I lose my balance and I'm like, oh no,
I'm falling. I got my phone in my hand, and
I see a pad that I think is soft. I'm like,
I'm going knee there, I'm laying. I'm like, it was
not soft, it was not, so you crushed your knee, Cad.
I smashed my knee horribly, and and I'm sure the

(01:10:57):
parents that are watching me. First I get flipped over
the wire and lose my phone and then go immediately
back to it and destroy my knee.

Speaker 2 (01:11:04):
I'm sure the parents are looking at me, think what's
wrong with this guy? This guy, I bet somebody filed
a complaining for somebody. What about he kept saying he
thinks he can do a tight rope based on what Yeah. Wow,
I thought it was gonna be the safest thing there.

Speaker 4 (01:11:23):
Got annihilated by sky Zone trampoline plays this another statistic, But.

Speaker 2 (01:11:28):
We yeah, it was, it was. We had I had
a great week with my family. I do feel like
I got ran over by a steam roller. Yeah, I'm
glad to be home.

Speaker 4 (01:11:37):
Uh, it's between the the lawn, the woods, the pressure
watching and having kids just.

Speaker 2 (01:11:42):
Run over me all week. I'm not so glad to
be back to work. But man, Master Shandan, that's the
real mister Channey. That's not done to.

Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
Replacement is the Rick Burgess Show, The Man Who Loves
For a national holiday in honor of whoever the person
was who inveted air conditioning, Rick Birches.

Speaker 2 (01:12:16):
We're back from vacation, fresh loving it. Apparently all the
guys did on their time off was pressure watch. Yeah.
I actually went on a vacation, which was nice. Adler
is forgetting that he'll be forty on his next birthday. Yeah,
that's a whole nother world, buddy. You don't try to
walk tight ropes at forty. Yeah, I mean that's a

(01:12:40):
thirty and late twenties dead kind of thing. Sure I
can tell you that. Yeah, yeah, I know, I know.
If you like, I know that hurt knee is definitely forty.
My knee is definitely. Oh by the way, don't think
it's gonna heal quickly? No, no, no, I know.

Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
Like if you're on the water and you're skiing or
something and you hit hard, you just lay there and
you're like oh you know you just grown.

Speaker 2 (01:13:01):
Did you do that when you fail? Were you laying
in the pit, on the phone pit, just going y'all?

Speaker 4 (01:13:07):
It would be like standing on top of this desk
and just just doing a knee drop onto the ground.
Like my knee hurts so bad. And I felt like
everybody was watching me because I looked like and I
tried not to limp away, and I did limp.

Speaker 2 (01:13:24):
It was I tried not. Your body couldn't do it.
I couldn't do it. I think I chipped my kneecap.
I mean, my goodness, it hurts so much. You're gonna
get to an age where you'll look at a tight
rope like that over a bunch of phone You're gonna pass, Yes,
but there yet that was the moment it changed. Have
been so many adults that have limped out of those places.

(01:13:46):
Oh look, I'm telling you. I know a mother when
our kids were still in school. Her life was completely
shattered by it. I mean, like wheelchair from one of
those places, wheelchair, wheelchair forever, wheelchair I'm not sure about that,
but really really bad thing for a while, really wheelchair
for a while, still possibly still wheelchair, I don't know

(01:14:07):
now wheelchair. Last time I started you in a wheelchair,
you should reach out more. First of all.

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
Second of all, how how far was that after the
incident the wheelchair spotting?

Speaker 2 (01:14:20):
Months? Months? See months? Wow, it was a big legendary story.
Her legs shattered by somebody trying to double springer.

Speaker 4 (01:14:28):
Oh, the double bounce will mess you up, shatter the bones,
that'll buckle your everything.

Speaker 2 (01:14:33):
Okay, well all just keep going. Uh the sign I
doubles bring the grandkids and they boy, they fly speaking.
They asked me to do it, and then when I
do it, they don't want me to do it anymore.

Speaker 13 (01:14:44):
No more.

Speaker 2 (01:14:45):
Papa, Yeah, why did you want to do that?

Speaker 14 (01:14:47):
Bob?

Speaker 2 (01:14:48):
Mary time you got why I wanted to do that.
I really didn't want to do that. So now, grandkid world.
How many of them went to school? Okay? We had okay,
So Alice is going in the first grade, okay, and
then Marion, his sister, she's going into is it pre
K four four k k She's been there in the
same building. So they did have a precious picture of

(01:15:10):
him walking her in, holding her hand. They go to
the same school. Of course, they probably turned the corner
and got to fight, but it was a great picture.
And then Pace is in four K right, he said
he likes it, but it's a lot longer than church. Yeah,
and that was his comment. I like it, but it's

(01:15:31):
here is a lot longer than church. And then Mary
Hollis is mad, tiny, tiny, little tiny because she's just
too She's mad because her brother's going to school and
her mom's going back to school because Chapter teaches, and
so she's not happy about that. So they had to deal.
She feel a good fit? Oh did she? She didn't
understand why men left there because everybody everybody's gone now. Yeah,

(01:15:54):
so that but that's pretty much.

Speaker 4 (01:15:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:15:56):
Elis acts like he hates it. Then he comes home
and talking to Taylor, he's then he someone talks aboutw
much funny had he said, So you can't pay attention
to him. So he always has something to laught to
about something new. Yeah, and then that sounds like you Greg, Yeah,
a lot.

Speaker 11 (01:16:09):
That he does.

Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
And he's like, what three of the four started school? Wow,
some shape or form okay? And Mary Hollins is just
mad about it. Okay. So Marin loves it. Alice complains
about it, but then comes home like it was good.
I talked about how and pay said it was all right,
but a lot longer than long, for a lot longer
than church. It's so good. She's not going anywhere. Yeah,

(01:16:30):
now she's mad, her mom's left and her brother. Wow.

Speaker 4 (01:16:33):
How do those little two year olds hold so much
anger in them? You know, it's like, how does it
fit in such a small containment.

Speaker 2 (01:16:38):
It looks like they don't have enough room for all
that is so angry, explained, I remember, I can't remember
the first time, you know, having five two year olds.
I said that to a guy on vacation. He was
struggling with a two year old. I saw him and
I said, I said, let me, yes, he's two. He goes,
how did you know that? I said, because I've had
five of them? And he said, he said, you hit
his age right on it. I said, yeah, I can't

(01:17:00):
remember the first time, Like you were talking about, I
saw one of them bang its head on the floor
because I'm so mad. I mean literally bang its head
on the floor. And I thought that, well, that's really mad,
that's mad, that's that's upset. Yeah, you know, it's like
they just wanted they just wanted to. Ezra turned and
hit a glass window with his hand yesterday. Just I'm like, buddy,

(01:17:21):
you're gonna break that. Not a good move. I think
that's that something about they call it terrible too's there's
something about two where I think they've gotten just old
enough that they think they can be a little more
independent than they really can. And so they get frustrated
that you want because we're still saying you're a lot
more of a baby than you think you are, Okay,

(01:17:42):
And they and they're just frustrated. It's the first time
they kind of push back on that a little bit.
I can do it. I can do it. I can
do it. You know, I can do it. I can
do it. They always want to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
They want that independent, that freedom, independence, and we won't
give it to them.

Speaker 4 (01:17:55):
And they get so mad when they gets so frustrated
with every little tiny thing and everything a meltdown.

Speaker 2 (01:18:00):
You're like, buddy, you are my blood pressures through the roof,
and I'm.

Speaker 4 (01:18:04):
Trying to be a good example of what patience and
kindness and gentleness they'll control.

Speaker 2 (01:18:09):
Horror. But boy, you're making a difficult friend, right. The
guy looked at me when I said I've had five
of them. He almost looked at me like, well, you
seem to be okay. You made I'm like, no, I'm
not okay. I'm traumatizing. Ruby did come back from her
first day of kindergaring like she had been in a war,
and it's like.

Speaker 6 (01:18:27):
She's like, I love that school.

Speaker 1 (01:18:30):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 5 (01:18:38):
Welcome to the Rick Burgess Show. The voice of Reason
for a reason lighting up Francis, Here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
Here we go, America. Back from vacation and refreshed and ready, speedy,
Greg Adler, the gang all here. If you missed any
have you missed any of the show, catch it on
the daily archives, available to you on your own time.
If you're not following our daily podcast, do so. Just
search Rick Burgess Show and you'll you'll have it right there.

(01:19:20):
We'll chat with you our first unscreened phone calls. First
one's coming up. Can you imagine on screen phone calls
coming up? Not right now, okay, but coming up? Funny.
So we do have a lot to talk about. We've
talked about a lot, but still much more to go.
And so a couple of things from vacation, we hit

(01:19:41):
a couple of things with the guys. So the plan
for Sherry and me. You know, we're empty nesters, which
is great freedom adult children, you know, and we do
every other year or something. You'll try to do the
let's take everybody who can go, you know and all that,
and we've done that many times. Uh, and this one

(01:20:03):
because of the you know, starting the new show. You know,
we we all went a lot longer other than having
your fourth of July off and Memorial Day, but we
haven't had a vacation and we normally have had one
by now. So you know, we were we were all
little I think, I don't know if y'all felt that way.
I felt I felt like we needed some risks. I
thought we were a little it was time take a
little break. And we felt like we built up enough

(01:20:26):
hours we could play you know, best of shows and
all that. So Cherry and I, as soon as we
knew what this year is gonna be like, Cherry started
trying to find somewhere for us to go. And so
she found a little island in the Bahamas, and she said,
let's just go there, just you and me, and we're
just gonna go. Chill is the main thing we're gonna do.

(01:20:48):
We're gonna look at beautiful water, we're gonna be on
beautiful beaches. We're gonna stay somewhere, let's eat great food
and let's just relax. And I was like, that is fantastic. Now,
Sherry said, she did not know that I was going
to basically turn into Ernest Hemingway. Uh and and and
now think that I live on an island and that

(01:21:10):
the Bahamians, you know, they they're all calling me Papa.
And and she goes, you really take into this island thing,
and what's up with the hat? And she said, I
bought that just kind of a for a skin cancer
deal to put on to kind of because you know,
you go to these island places, that's a harsh sun
it is, that's a harsh son and uh. And so
I said, why do you do you think I'm overdoing

(01:21:31):
the hat? She goes, well, I mean, do you think
you look sharp in it? Because it's kind of becoming
your thing you're like wearing You're like wearing it to restaurant, yeah, stuff,
and and uh that yeah, And I was like, you know,
I didn't. I didn't think I was going too far
with it. I uh, you know, here I am, you know,
I'm sitting here breakfast with it on, and you know,

(01:21:54):
and you know, I posted the picture that was in
the sand. Greg was Greg was asking, you know, and
you know everybody caused me big Papa and you know
you need anything, Papa, you know, and I'm like, not good, guys,
thank you good. But anyways, so so Sherry kept saying
you wouldn't take it off. She was like, you're really
going to ernest himingway here? You need to kind of

(01:22:14):
I mean, yet you're then so I'm looking at this,
look at that water. That's not pretty water. I think
it's the most beautiful. The Caribbean is the most beautiful.
Do y'all say Caribbean or Caribbean? I say Caribbean because
Billy Ocean did, thank you, right, yeah, Sevember with with
copy we were it was some big giveaway and they
wanted you to say Caribbean. I'm okay with Caribbean.

Speaker 4 (01:22:34):
I don't want I say Caribbean unless I'm saying Pirates
of the Caribbean exactly.

Speaker 2 (01:22:39):
I'm saying the movie title some reason. Yeah, don't you
wish Billy Ocean was from there? Yes he was. He
knew what it was called.

Speaker 3 (01:22:47):
Don't you wish that that the doctor would come take
your blood pressure when you're sitting there looking at that.

Speaker 2 (01:22:53):
And so the other way right, yeah, I think you.
I think now that's like a hedge between between us
and the beach. It's a lot of greenery. That's what
you get of greenery. Groundhogs. They love cuds. Yeah, And
so no, you're right. I believe the doctor if he
came down here, he would have taken me off any

(01:23:13):
man of right, Yeah, you don't need either, don't they
they visit us there? Look at that right there, that's
by the way from our room. Nice well play, So
your room was inside the cuts there? No, well these
are these are hedges, greg And you can't see through
the hedges held outside you know. Of course those hedges
probably would need it all the way around. And I
didn't quite know about the turndown service. And i'd like

(01:23:34):
to apologize to one of the members of the staff
that saw me naked. Yeah, it was a bad moment,
man or woman. Man or woman? It was a woman.

Speaker 15 (01:23:44):
And have you ever seen people that burnt their eyes?
Oh my gosh, this And should you wear your hat there?
And and I know it's a nice place. I know
it's a nice place, but I can turn my bed sheet.

Speaker 2 (01:24:00):
Now, yeah, I wouldn't. I didn't even know that was
I didn't even know from Yeah, I didn't even know
where you want your hat? Good thing? I had Papa,
so oh Papa, but I didn't know about it. And
you see right there that that's right outside of the
door with you walking around naked, look the door. You're

(01:24:20):
just looking out the door and you see the Caribbean
or the Caribbean, you know. So I like keeping the
curtains open because I like looking at the water, and
so I can't an exhibitionist. Yeah, like looking at it
like that. It's like early evening, early evening because I'm
coming out of the you know, the shower and everything
and we're getting ready to go to dinner or whatever.

(01:24:41):
I'm just walking, you know, and it's just me and
my you know, I'm I'm hey man, I'm on vacation still,
and I look look coming coming up this evil right here. Okay,
I said, I didn't know I come out like in
a person. Let you see, she's got to show. She
goes and she just turns her head and dugs. And
I told you, I said, I think somebody just saw
me naked. Rick This is clearly a public square.

Speaker 4 (01:25:01):
This is not like you're the public Squarely a public
are right outside your place.

Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
Right, that's a trail. That's I see another So I
see another show. Well that's different. I was inside the house.
I went on the porch the party. She gave you
a tip.

Speaker 1 (01:25:19):
I looked over.

Speaker 2 (01:25:19):
I said, somebody left the team. But again, there's five
women out there right now. So I want to apologize
for that, right and so so the hot all, what
is it? That's how people in the Caribbean talked. I
don't know what you talk about. Wonderful people. Oh the
Bahamians except for the one that was traumatized, the Bahamians,

(01:25:42):
the one that you never saw. Did you see that?
I saw popping naked? But anyway, so, uh did you
see that team? But anyway, so up so anyway, Uh,
it's my bad. That's on me. That's on me. Uh
and uh. And I learned my lesson on that one. So,
you know, one of the things, one of the things.

(01:26:04):
And it was just all, you know, hanging out unfortunately
now spending time just relax well and this one day, listen,
I think a lot of you, the courage were already
open everybody. I think everybody, raise your hand. One of
the biggest things when you go staying in just kind
of a room, you know, because the beautiful thing about

(01:26:25):
when the whole family goes is you usually try to
rent a house, which means it has multiple bathrooms. And
but when you're just in there with your wife, even
though it's your wife, they're going to dominate the bathroom
they are. And so there was only one bathroom. There
was one toilet, and you know, and I like a
lot of privacy. The toilet didn't even have a door

(01:26:45):
on it, so you know, you're if somebody's in the showers,
somebody's in there. No, I mean it was. It was nice,
but it was go out in the kutzo and take
a back. Why couldn't there be Why couldn't we have
a door on the toilet? That part?

Speaker 8 (01:27:00):
Yeah, you know what do they call it a water
closet or something like that? When the toilet's in its
own little room, that is nice.

Speaker 2 (01:27:06):
You can just drop large. Yeah, well how about this?
And it's too much muddler, it's too much money. But
I said, you know what, I wish we'd just picked
up another room for no other reason. For me to
just have my own bathroom. Yeah, you know, because that
was probably a good decision, right, I don't know if
bathroom no, you know what I did a couple of
times I would go down to where the restaurant was
and use that bathroom. At least you could close yourself

(01:27:27):
off in there. That is weird. But you did have
your clothes, did you every single time? Did you ever
get to the sand or did you have to stay
behind that cuts?

Speaker 13 (01:27:36):
You can?

Speaker 2 (01:27:37):
Of course, you can get on the beach. And so
we come back. When you go on this kind of vacation,
there's always the do I do an excursion or do
I not not the greatest? Do I just stay where
I'm at? I would prefer to do that. I'm really
not a big fan of excursions. I know, I don't
like all that. But but you know, and so I said,
let's minimize excursions. I don't like to have a plan

(01:28:00):
and some schedule every day, so.

Speaker 4 (01:28:04):
Late morning activity, late morning activity, and then you're done
with it today.

Speaker 2 (01:28:08):
But Sherry, she loves, loves, loves to get on the boat.
We're gonna get on a boat. Boat, We're going on
We're gonna get on a boat and we're gonna do
some sort of boat thing. So she said, well, you
know them. I think it was Tuesday. She said, I've
I've I've got us a boat. I booked a boat.
It's gonna take us out romantic romantic sunset cruise on

(01:28:30):
a boat. Okay, hold on to that. So we'll come
back and I'll tell you about my encounter with a
man referred to as Captain Jack. Captain Jack, let me
guess you had your hat on during that then the
entire time. So we'll be back. And then you were like,

(01:28:55):
welcome to be doing.

Speaker 1 (01:29:00):
This is the rick Burgers show. This is where logic
beats the left, the rick Burgers Show.

Speaker 2 (01:29:23):
Here we go, thanks for being with US America. So
so anyway, so we we had a wonderful, wonderful vacation.
And so Sherry lets me know that you know, I can.
I can't. I always start feeling when excursion day is coming,
because that means the wonderful life of getting up whenever

(01:29:43):
you're ready. He's in not looking at the clock, Yeah,
easing down to breakfast, strolling out on the beach naked,
yeah no, no, no, no, no, showing my bum to people. No.
I was just getting ready for the for the for
dinner that night we went out. There was sweaty on
the beach. I took a shower and wearing a hat,
walking hat and t shit hat only I don't think

(01:30:06):
I'm overdoing the hat and a little gold chain. Yeah yeah,
so so so. I like the hat. I was wearing it.
It was keeping the sun off of me. I don't
think I got too carried away.

Speaker 4 (01:30:15):
Rick, I think you, I think you might be. You
sent me this picture and you're you're wearing it while
working out. I mean, that's crazy.

Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
What are you talking about with it? Purchase? That is
a large kettlebell you're swinging. Well, thank you? Are you
working out with the hat? Big Bapa's working out now?
About that? By the way, they had a cold plunge. Nice,

(01:30:43):
What are you doing You're in the fitness room. What
are you in the fintage room? Anyway? Right?

Speaker 7 (01:30:47):
Well, I.

Speaker 2 (01:30:49):
Get pumped for that morning. No, I didn't cherry checking
me out, nid. I gotta look good. I gotta get
pumped for a walk around. I went in there and
got it. I got I took the cold plunge. By
the way, how once you get in I bet it's awesome,
but that's the initial getting in goods. It's cold, how
about it? Named right? Oh yeah, if you don't want

(01:31:10):
to get into it, you know a long time. But anyways,
so so anyway, so it's just lad, is this a I?
Is this real? Now?

Speaker 7 (01:31:19):
That's me?

Speaker 2 (01:31:20):
You worked out with a straw hat? On? How are
you working at? Because if papa's on the grounds and
got that on? Why are you working out on vacation?
Because I told you it was just then I didn't
do much. Okay, that's good, that's good. You have to
picture baby, all right, putting it down. So yeah, that

(01:31:41):
was for Sean. That was I said it to Sean.
I said it to Sean. Okay, we're doing, We're doing.
I didn't send in pictures of the eat the bell
toast for me tomorrow. Oh yeah, well he's gonna kill
me tomorrow. But anyways, so so I said, all right,
so baby, here we go. You know, then you got it.
Now let me tell you where we are on this
particular island, people ride golf carts. Okay, everybody drives golf cart.

(01:32:06):
They're golf carts everywhere, okay, And so you have to
have a golf cart to get anywhere because it's not
big enough for like an automobile or anything like that.
So you're riding golf carts. Small island. Yeah, and uh,
and so a lot of people. But you've got a
lot of Americans, you know, and and this, you know,
the these islands still have a British even though they
don't the British don't have them anymore. They still drive

(01:32:29):
on the left side of the road. Now that's a
big adjustment. And and and I got fired from driving,
and Sherry was driving. How about the people you're out there,
it's it's golf cart crazy. I mean, people are whipping
around a lot of people. At one time we got
clipped by another golf cart. This person just didn't I've
never seen somebody be this transparent. Cherry was like, you're

(01:32:51):
on the wrong side of the road. You're supposed to
be on the left side. And she's haulering at her.
Get over, get over, And all of a sudden, woman
just says, I've had too much wine and all right,
hit you. Well, I mean what you just right down
the side and and you think you can't just say that,
I mean, let you get in that cart. But uh,

(01:33:11):
but anyway, but we're okay, and so so we Sherry says,
let's go do some homework, which I'm for that. Let's
find out what doc we need to be at to
get on the boat. So we're not frantically looking for it,
you know, the day all that, the day before, we
knew where we were going. So so we we get there,
and you know how it doesn't some things, it takes time.

(01:33:36):
Other times there's almost an instant concern. Yeah, and uh,
because we I mean we never we've never been here,
you know, we we just you know, Sherry booked it
to whoever they you know, has suggested and all this,
and so and I remembering a little concerned by the name,
just a little bit. I won't give it because I
don't want to cause trouble. And so we come walking

(01:33:59):
up up and we're a little bit early, and and
just just the first time that I laid eyes on
Captain Jack, I just kind of there was a sense,
I don't know, I had a little bit of instinct
not to get on his boat, you know what I mean,
It was just a you know, And and then I
saw the the the deckhand or the first mate or whatever,

(01:34:24):
and I noticed he doesn't have any shoes on. You know,
I don't know. I just kind of notice that a
lot of tats and and a boat, right, and and
it seems seems to be some sort of father son combination.
And they said nice hot and I'm thinking, you know,
but who cares. We're on the boat. Yeh, it's just

(01:34:45):
a sunset cruise, right, and you know, And and Sherry
I wanted to She said, now I've heard that there's
I can go see sea turtles and and and Captain
Jack and me. He says, yeah, I'll take you to
sea turtles and AND's and he's smoking a bit of

(01:35:05):
a change smoker and there one day and uh and
so there was just a look the way he said it.
It was kind of like, uh, are we going to
be like doing something legit? I mean, are you gonna?
I mean it just you know, I remember getting on
the boat and kind of looking back at the at

(01:35:26):
the pier, and I was like, Captain Jack seems to be.

Speaker 1 (01:35:34):
The character.

Speaker 2 (01:35:35):
Okay. I realized pretty quick that he basically Sharon and
I have gotten on the boat with Quinn from Jaws.
Lady Tone Death. Not a lot of social skills. We'll

(01:35:55):
say anything slight bump. Yeah. There were times where I
want to say Captain Jack to you. You didn't. He
didn't have to tell us, Okay, yeah, so yeah, and
we got it. So, so where are you from? You know?
And I'm like, we're from Alabama. We might be ken.

(01:36:16):
And I'm like, I'm sorry, okay, family, And then he
began to tell us how we might be ken, and
I'd rather not share it. Really it was really yeah,
And I remember thinking, you've known us for ten minutes
and we're already some really personal stuff. I'm like, it

(01:36:37):
was now, let me tell you about my mother. So
he did what Yeah? Yeah, And he kind of tell
us about his mom and we're not everywhere. Mom was
around there. Mom was a bit of a track, and
I was like, okay, Glenn, we're good son and his

(01:36:58):
sonlight I'm looking. I'm like, your son's here. That does
explain his odd look.

Speaker 11 (01:37:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:37:09):
I just wait, jamam hell.

Speaker 5 (01:37:15):
Mom.

Speaker 2 (01:37:15):
You know he was all over.

Speaker 1 (01:37:21):
Miss is the Rick Burgess Show. He was told good
luck finding a job that would pay him to be
the class clone. Rick Burgess.

Speaker 2 (01:37:40):
Well, and here we are, thank you for being with us.
It's the Rick Burgess Show. Back from vacation. We've heard
from Adler Speedy Greg. We've been running over the week
that we were off. More to come. We'll get unscreen
phone calls coming up, probably in the next segment. I know,
a vacation Monday. We'll see. All right. So we're on

(01:38:02):
the boat.

Speaker 13 (01:38:02):
It is.

Speaker 2 (01:38:03):
Remember the whole thing is the premise is a a
romantic you know, sunset cruise. Okay, I'm with Captain Jack,
who I've realized is Quinn from Jaws. Uh, he's he's on.

Speaker 3 (01:38:17):
Your on vacation on the Nile and everybody rides golf cars.
There's no cars. No, it's I've got a straw hat
walking around naked.

Speaker 2 (01:38:25):
Well no, no, that's not true. Everywhere everywhere. It was
one incident. So you're in your own room. So so
you're on naked islands. I'm not, I'm not. No, it
was one incident. So yes, I think I loved it.
So I'm on the boat and I'm with I'm with
Quinn from Jaws. I remember when we were on the Indianapolis,

(01:38:49):
you know, And and he's telling and you know, he's
already made Mother's Day for him awkward. And I didn't
believe the thing about mom. But anyways, so I'm looking
at Sherry. She usual looking at me. Wanted to end
and then I can't share. I keep going, Babe, we're
on the boat. It's all right, you want to be
on a boat, right, Yeah, she's like sunset. So then

(01:39:11):
is it just the two of you? No other couples?
The couples? Okay? Now, keep in mind, does he know
that y'all want to be alone, that's the reason you
booked the you don't want to talk to it. Keep
in mind that you would think that the captain that
one things he would do would be reassuring, which is
what I was true, that he would be reassuring that
we're going to have a nice evening. Oh yeah, So

(01:39:32):
Sherry had been told by some of the people where
we're staying that worked there and Chare was very comfortable
in the water, the water was beautiful, that because of
the barrier that they really don't have a lot of
shark activity where we were okay, and the share was
reassured about that she's gonna bring her shark bands and
all that sheerry very highly sensitive about sharks. She's prepared for.

(01:39:56):
Sherry's convinced that sharks are coming for us, okay, and
waiting they're just waiting and and so and and it
doesn't help because we do have a number of things
that happen. And but now she's gotten this confidence that
where we are that you shouldn't have to worry about sharks. Well,
if you're gonna get in with sea turtles, you got
to get in the water, okay, And so cam Jackie

(01:40:20):
think you can get us on some sea turtles, for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:40:22):
I can.

Speaker 10 (01:40:25):
Be looking when you get into the water, though, because
it's a shark you don't see that kills you.

Speaker 2 (01:40:33):
Captain Jack and that makes you want to jump right
in and sure goes, is there sharks because there's sharks now,
pitchure the cigarette every time. Let me tell you something,
little lady.

Speaker 10 (01:40:52):
If you take salt water, if the water that you
get the good deals in your mouth when you get
in is salty, you got to be concerned to make sharks.
I'm like, it's the one you don't see to kill you.

Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
Good now, I don't know that I want to get
in there now. And I'm like, baby, it's all right,
there's no sharks right here.

Speaker 10 (01:41:17):
Tell that to the one that the woman that got
bitten half a few weeks ago, right, say that, but
pulled her up. It was nothing but the upper torso
better right and half tiger shark.

Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
We got him everywhere. And I'm like, kiss the sun.
And well he's like, oh yeah, I called some sharks,
didn't my dad? Yeah, yeah, he's got he caught one.
Just the other night, what are you eleven foot swimming around?
We went out. We went out because it was lobster season,
went out spearing lobster. At one point I thought I

(01:41:53):
was going to get back a lobster, not my son.
Tiger shark had to hide it and easy to swim
all around him. And I'm looking in shirts like I
don't think I want to do now, my baby. There's
it's all right, like turtles And also don't forget you
get in there and the sea turtles start coming at you,
just push them off not to bank you. And I'm like,
the sea turtles gonna boy, And that doesn't even talk

(01:42:16):
to me about the stingrays. Remember the only probably got
with the stingrays if they get underneath you and from
there and I and I'm I'm like, this is normally
not how excursions go. Usually where everybody's saying courage. It's
gonna be fine, everything's gonna helpful God, and he's he's
nothing but doom and gloom. You get in and so

(01:42:37):
uh so, now I know what's gonna happen. Now I
don't want to get in. Now I gotta get in. Yeah,
I'm not going. You gotta come with me. What are
you going to And then he looks over his boy
jump in there with him, take the squid with you,
and I'm like, I'm like, they push him away, but
get all right? Worth thinking habit? You you get multiple
And I'm like, I'm so sorry, and and so h

(01:42:58):
I said, it's gonna be Let's see a few turtles.
We'll feed him some squid. It'll be fine. And she
says he there's string race here, stingrays. He should be fine.
Just don't step on and chairs looking at it? What
if I step on it? You don't want that? So
that's what they And I'm like, Captain Jake, this is
not this does not sound fun. It's not good. I

(01:43:20):
think we're paying you. I don't think this is free.
We didn't want to go on the horror trip, you know,
good looking bunk, you know, And so we get we
so we get in the water, Quinn's up there, you know,
I think he might be drunk and uh and so
so he's uh he. We get in there and we're
trying to watch out and then he picks up on

(01:43:42):
sh say look share, and I'm like, he's laughing moniocally.
He's talking from the boat, from the bus. He's smoking.
I'm not getting in there. It's a shark. You don't
see to kill you, you know what this guy's problem
there in the shairs, like yeah, but the water's shovel.
Tell that to the bullshark, you know. And so I'm like,
this is not what is this? Do we get the

(01:44:04):
horror extraction? And so we we finally have it. Okay, turtles,
well we did. We didn't have like them plastic rings off.
They look like that they've kind of dialed into this.
This is their thing. I don't think they're trying anymore.
They're just waiting on the boats now. So anyway, so
we do that and we're going. So then we say

(01:44:26):
he says, well, I made it very clear. You know,
we're talking to the person who did you talk to
well you know, oh yeah, okay, that you could take
us to a private beach. You know, I wanted this
to be something romantic for my husband and me with him.
He don't worry, Rick, I'll said you have and I'm like,
I don't do that. She's not she's not like your mom.

(01:44:49):
And so so anyway, according to you, right, according to you,
and so anyway, so we we we we we start
coming up to this place. It this little tiny beach,
and they really are the first thing I notice is
all the trash. It's like somebody dump trash on it.

(01:45:09):
And I think, well, he's not gonna He's just gonna
go somewhere else. Here we are. I'm like, Jack, there's
there's trash here. Uh, let's talk. Somebody camped here. No,
you hate that, all right, get off the boat. And
I'm like, this is not real. But there's there's literally
a cooler hanging in a tree. What I think I
see a tent. There's there's a smoldering fire, I see smoke.

(01:45:31):
Get out. Get out dumps the water in the fire
for him, and I'm like, but now, we don't want
to be at somebody's campsite. And the look at it
like trash. Yeah, I see it. You gotta hate that,
and get off the boat and the here, and I'm like, hey, man,
I don't know. This doesn't feel very you know. And
then all of a sudden, there's another boat. And we

(01:45:53):
were told later once we asked other people that there's
multiple places they can take you. Yeah. Well I see
this other boat and I'm like, hey, some people are here. Yeah,
maybe they'll move on. Sharry, be careful of the stingray.
He's trying to get to the shore. So Sherry starts swimming.
He scared her so bad, and all of a sudden,
I look and swimming underneath her is a stingray.

Speaker 4 (01:46:14):
What.

Speaker 2 (01:46:14):
I'm like, baby, baby, don't put your feet down.

Speaker 13 (01:46:17):
What what?

Speaker 2 (01:46:17):
And she's just swimming, I said, I hated hein's a.

Speaker 5 (01:46:20):
Sting round here.

Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
Oh my god. I'm like, hey you Jack, please, She said,
oh my gosh. And I finally grab her in my
arms and lift her up and just kind of show
away the stingray and walk her to the shore. I
was close here he had Jack, dude. I was like
Captain Jack. And she said, she's like, I'm scared of
these people. I said, I am too. I think I

(01:46:43):
am too. So all of a sudden, talking about inappropriate
we're here trashes all over the beach. They're just a
pilotrash is like a dump we've been dropped on. And
then all of a sudden, I look and Jack and
his son start hitting on women from the other boat.
What they get in the water? How you lay you
do it? Where are you from? Like I'm like, I said,
And she goes, is he talking to these girls? I said,

(01:47:05):
I think they are. I look over that thing. Hey,
wait where you guys hit it?

Speaker 4 (01:47:08):
There? You have?

Speaker 2 (01:47:09):
Yeah? Oh okay, yeah, let me tell you about my mom.
So he starts with her. And now I look over
and the captain and his son are like hitting on
two women from another boat. What and and of course
they're half drunk, so they're just standing there talking to him. Yeah,
good to see you. Yeah, yeah, you know Captain Jack
and all this, And sure, he goes, is could this
be any less romantic for us? But then you know

(01:47:31):
what I say? But you know what I say, this
is gonna be great for the show. Oh yeah, I
mean this is the craziest. That is insane. Yeah. And
then yeah, then he would do things like, let me
take you to the sandbar. It's too rough, let's keep
movement and then they brought us back. He brought us
back to the pier and I look up and I'm like,
the sun's really still up. Yeah, I guess we got

(01:47:54):
back before. Really sick. It's been a blast things for
being with us. Sure, He's like, you're supposed to supposed
to see the sunset. This is three hours times.

Speaker 5 (01:48:01):
Up the sun.

Speaker 2 (01:48:03):

(01:59:06):
That YES i, DO i do remember the wrong with,
That BUT i guess that means he had the show is.
DONE i don't, KNOW i guess so all, RIGHT a
couple of other items that we haven't talked about. Today
and And, adler this was one you think you from
did you find her? Go if you found?

Speaker 6 (01:59:24):
Her her bottom teeth still looks don't look like.

Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
Fixed but there there you. Go, Right, okay she she
got some upper. Veneers, yeah at least one tooth that
gone is now. There so that's that's. Good that's nice for. Her,
WELL i mean there, there there you. Go so you
can't really see all that, much can. You she can

(01:59:49):
move and, everything, though good for. Her she can move and.
Everything of course you can. Move she used. To she
looked like the trash heap sitting there.

Speaker 7 (01:59:59):
Right wrong.

Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
Number number of video number. Eight did y'all see? THIS
i saw this over the. Weekend. Uh the guy goes
by the name mister Hammer. Hand Hammer, hand Hammer, hand
sixty six years. Old have any of you ever tried
to crack a walnut? Before it's not. Easy it's a major.
Ordeal NOW i want you to watch mister Hammer. Han

(02:00:24):
look at that for off what watch him break walnuts
like they're like, there looks like my. Dad and he
broke a new world record record for. That he crushed
two hundred and ninety three walnuts in one. Minute. Wow.
Wow watch him go on these walnuts here and so
it's Hammer.

Speaker 4 (02:00:40):
Han he's got three rows of walnuts in front of
him and He they're all laid out in front of
him on it like it looks like a concrete, rack
and he's just going to.

Speaker 2 (02:00:46):
Town Stop Greg.

Speaker 6 (02:00:49):
Sweedy every little tap is a walnut and he is
smashing it to.

Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
Pieces, wow well it has to, hurt Right, Grey, oh
he's getting off his. Rhythm but now he's. Back BUT i,
mean guess, you, GUYS i mean he's just breaking them
like there's. Nothing these are wraal. Nuts at this point
your HAND i would really be. Hurting but guess.

Speaker 4 (02:01:13):
What he also has an, uncracked raw egg in his
cracking hand right.

Speaker 2 (02:01:18):
Now that's part of the world. Record, yes he did
not hold an. Egg he's holding an egg in his.
Hand it's part of the.

Speaker 4 (02:01:27):
RECORD i don't know, why but it. Is he has a,
raw uncracked egg in his. Hand so that's part of
like having a hammer.

Speaker 2 (02:01:35):
HAND i Guess, OKAY i didn't know. What i'm already
tired of him doing. It, Okay i'm. Exhausted but but
he's crushing him. Nuts he's like a.

Speaker 4 (02:01:44):
Jackhammer, yes, yes and his. Hand, yeah look there's the
egg in his. Hand they're about to drop the egg
on a plate to show that it is a normal.

Speaker 2 (02:01:55):
Egg how did that Have he didn't get to the.
End he wanted to get to the in so his
hands his. Hand yeah that is insane and a pretty
COOL t. Shirt but, no why'd wear that to?

Speaker 9 (02:02:08):
Work?

Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
Right that's right matter not unfortunate placement of the of the. Artwork,
yeah but the, Uh, JOHN i, think don't you THINK
i will come here And greg be sitting here and, hey,
mister wait a. Minute he would take what should be
a pretty good skill and by the Time i've, Done
i'd never do it. Again be. EMBARRASSED i, mean it

(02:02:32):
looks like a bunch of brown golf balls laying. There,
yeah you, guys have you ever tried to crush thend like?
This that? Hurts imagine if there's a. Walnut, yeah two
hundred and ninety three of, them and sixty seconds holding
a raw egg and his striking. Hand As adler pointed,
out WHY i don't get the? World, WELL i guess
that just makes it. Harder if you crush the egg
then you're. Out, yeah, YEAH i. Guess, yeah it's hard.

(02:02:55):
Enough why do you want to add?

Speaker 4 (02:02:56):
That?

Speaker 2 (02:02:56):
Right? Also care since since we're on of phoenoms right,
Now video, ten you know how we've seen these horrible
things where people get into a gym and they're they've
got too much, weight and they they don't have anybody
spot in, them and and they get themselves in a Buying,
yeah apparently somebody has come up with, something And i'm with, you,
ADDED i don't know why more gems don't go to.

(02:03:18):
This it is a bench press dump. Butt, yes like
if you can't handle, it you can get it off.

Speaker 4 (02:03:24):
Of so this guy's gonna get trapped underneath the bar
and he's gonna with his foot just kick this bar
right here and the whole bench that he's laying on
will go.

Speaker 6 (02:03:32):
Down you can see he's. Struggle that's coming, down can't.

Speaker 2 (02:03:35):
Get can't get it back way too much, way can't
get it back.

Speaker 6 (02:03:38):
Up so kick and then boom and you're saved by the.

Speaker 2 (02:03:41):
Rack oh that's that brilliant with the cables and then
and you turn it to make it hook and all.

Speaker 5 (02:03:50):
That.

Speaker 6 (02:03:50):
Yeah, yeah BUT i have not seen basically an escape
bar for that's pretty.

Speaker 2 (02:03:55):

ask for? Help, no not That i'm.

Speaker 3 (02:04:01):

was split up kind. Of Greg upstairs was kind of
more of A vip dinner here from some of the,
residents some interview type, sets, know set up and then
and then after that was over the last two, hours
you go downstairs and you hear stories behind the songs

(02:10:07):

The it's crazy some of the biggest songs in country
music that you've heard the stories behind the writing of the,

(02:11:30):
song and and you, know you don't really. Realize so
that's how you came up with a guy that kind of.

Speaker 11 (02:11:37):
Vulnerable.

Speaker 2 (02:11:37):
Yeah When, yeah he came in the green room and
we got to, talk and he was the first time

radio on the whole time Because Nashville's nashville radio is
really slow to play new, hits and so he was
like waiting on it and waiting on, it waiting on,
it and finally he had his truck radio on with
his windows down about to go out and he heard
it come.

Speaker 2 (02:12:22):

UP vip dinner, fundraising you, know a buffet here from the, residence, speakers,
interviews that kind of. Thing then we take a, break
go downstairs and it's more of an intimate setting on you,
know here's here's the songs you know that we wrote

they're they're producing products that, matter and and they're living
as independent as they possibly, can but also people there
to help them if they need, it, right, right it's

my mind make it sound. Better, yeah So i'm comfortable
with the number five to. Seven, Okay i'll stay with. That.

Speaker 3 (02:21:39):
Yeah and it's in that, window right, yeah so what
what because the, greenfield the, grass it was so high
from the side when what you couldn't use, all, well
there's nothing out, here Right, yeah and then you start walking,
out you're, like, oh there's been two.

Speaker 2 (02:21:54):
Incidences here's incidents. Here there's been two incidents during my dear,
years and they were two that almost caused me to stop. Hunting.
YEAH i know both of. Them, yeah BECAUSE i was with.
You they were just hard to watch and that was
one of. Them. Yeah you, KNOW i think if all
of them to be clean, shots it would have been so.
Bad still, troubling, yeah since you're only supposed to shoot

(02:22:15):
one and really upset the.

Speaker 3 (02:22:18):
Landowner, yeah but if you're breaking in a side arm
to help finish, it, yeah that's not.

Speaker 2 (02:22:23):
Good and then he assigned all of us different dos
and yearlings because he was done with, us AND i
think that was. It then WE i think we got
to all wrap it. Up he did want to trim
the population, down AND i think that well that Was,
yeah you'd like to stay legal, Though, yeah you wouldn't. Be,
luckily there was that many people there that could take. One.
Yeah it was brown as. Down, yeah hey bird hay.

(02:22:46):
Burge this comes From. Ryan my oldest daughter is about
to get. Married so our family decided to take one
last vacation but just us and do A griswold style eleven,
days twenty five hundred plus, miles seven kids from nineteen
to two years, old and a sweet van Like. Adler's ooh,
uh and we thought we would travel From, Scottsboro, alabama

(02:23:09):
home of one on one, seven To, Portland maine and.
Back one of our first stops Was Amish country In, Lancaster.
Pennsylvania i've actually been. There huh. Huh had a case
of massive second hand embarrassment had to face and he,
SAYS i have those and there's the name of. IT
i can't pronounce. It there's so many. Letters but it

(02:23:32):
says it is a real phobia and is a phobia
of little, people he, said which is Why i've Never
adler's probably looking for, well he, Says i've never visited
the show in. Person it's that bad coming. Here, okay,
yeah that's just.

Speaker 6 (02:23:48):
Sorry it's, uh it's a con, row lazy.

Speaker 2 (02:23:55):
Phobia, yeah, Stuff so he, said it's super, play he,
Said so when we got, there our tour guide will
call Him. CHRIS i do believe was a full grown
man as far as you, know not not having dwarf
ism or but you, know there's there's you, know there's different. Things,

(02:24:17):
however he was about the height of my four year
old and had a voice that sounded a lot like helium.
Boy M, rick this is where you should cure your
healing boy, voice because he said what he lacked in,
height he made up with, Impersonality. Greg but BUT i
want you to listen That i've got an, energetic, energetic

(02:24:38):
very small tour guide with a slight helium boy voice
now taking us on a. Tour and he is he
is upbeat as he can, be.

Speaker 7 (02:24:50):
So he.

Speaker 2 (02:24:51):
Said through the, tour he began Explaining AMI's clothing and
tried to hang an outfoot back on the. Wall, sadly
the hook was just a mild all. Right he hopped
on his, stool he, stretched he, grunted and reached those
little arms as far as he, could and he could
not hang it back. Up AND i, froze thinking of.

(02:25:13):
SPEEDY i was the nearest to, him BUT i. COULDN'T
i didn't know whether to step in and risk insulting
him or just watch him. STRUGGLE i know what you
would have, done. Speed oh, Yeah i've got to. HELP
i just finish it. Off just let me take you
that few more. Inches seconds. Clicked why they did feel
LIKE i. WAS i was helpless and also. Useless, thankfully my,

(02:25:36):
wife who was the mom of seven and is a
professional at helping little people reach high, places stepped around
me and hung it up like it was second. Nature
chris let out WHAT i could only describe is a
munchkin sounding. Cackle oh my, goodness that felt equal and it.
WAS i know he was, grateful BUT i could also

(02:25:58):
tell he was it was very awkward for. Him for
my wife to do, That ALL i could think, is
these people are. Amish they're very fine craftsmen and. Woodworkers
for the love of, alts good and. Kind can we
get our little tour guide a stool with one more? Step?
On my, goodness do you think he has to reach
that hook a? Lot, yeah and there's plenty of people

(02:26:18):
there that can make a good. STOOL i Know speedy
thinks the awkwardness is over but he would be. Wrong,
oh because we have three little, kids we own one
of those massive stroller, wagons which basically looks like a
rolling coffin or a Miniature amish. Buggy we learned quickly
that it couldn't fit through The amish house, doors SO
i parked it outside on the. Porch at the end

(02:26:38):
of the, TOUR i needed help getting it down the,
steps AND i turned to call one of my kids to.
Help But, Speedy i'm sorry to tell, you our little tour,
Guide chris bounced up the stairs and, said, oh plum
on in a hum and BEFORE i knew. It BEFORE
i knew, IT i didn't know what WAS i supposed, say, no,

(02:26:59):
thanks you might be able to get in the. STROLLER
i don't think you can carry. It we lifted, together
but once, Again, Speedy i'm sorry to tell, You chris's
tiny arms couldn't get the job done because his. Wife,
again this, TIME i sprung into, action stepping to the
side of the, stroller picking it up over the, steps
and in the, process THOUGH i heard in his little elf, VOICE,

(02:27:20):
whoa only to see THAT i had accidentally Lifted chris
with the. Stroller so, No chris is hanging on to
the stroller for a full. Second his little feet were
dangling like a micro. Wrestler oh, yeah feet, swinging tiny
voice squeaking in. Fear that was. It core temperature rising.
Embarrassment now moves To defcon. Five IF i had run

(02:27:43):
into the, CORNFIELD i would have set the crops on
fire because my face was so. RED i overcompensated with
probably even Eclipsing speedy's ability to hand out fourteen compliments
before committing the ultimate social. CRIME i asked him if
he would pose for a, Family do please tell me
he sent the. Photo for the first time in my

(02:28:04):
life is a man who is Basically adler's. HEIGHT i
had to lean down to be close to another adult
in the. Picture my. Kent my kids have not let
me live this, dawn they, Said, dad you went To
amish country and came home with a new low. Point
thanks for the shows over while you guys were. Gone
it was a wonderful. Vacation we enjoyed. IT i have

(02:28:26):
the stroller AND i didn't realize there were pictures. HERE
I i've got the picture ready to. Go AM i
allowed to show This? Speedy? Yeah what? Speedy AM i
allowed to show, THIS i think so oh Oh, blessing
who is a muscle little. Thing he's built like a wrestler.

(02:28:46):
Man good for. Him he's a little, PERSON i think, So,
greg he's primory on the dwarf, Right, yeah you're saying,
this and what is? It greg? Morphism that's? Real, okay
he just didn't. Know ryan didn't know, That. Champ you

(02:29:06):
know it looks like that small kids. Do we kind
of agree, though that they should have a step big
enough for him to do those. Things, yes and they
can build it, there.

Speaker 1 (02:29:15):
Amish this is The Rick Burgers show doing what he
was forn to, do The Rick Burchers, Show.

Speaker 2 (02:29:33):
America thanks for hanging out with us. Today so a
lot of the text nations saying, well sound's Not greg
was right? Again right? Again? Boy he identified that so,
fast Didn't yeah he. Did we examined all of that
in the break and, yes broke it down for. Us
you sure. Did he is. Correct good, Stuff thank you so,

(02:29:57):
Much run and all the others for the hay.

Speaker 4 (02:29:59):
Burd mordial dwarfism is much more, rare but it is
marked by uh proportionate, features which is it's interesting to
see that you should get into this a distinction With Greg.

Speaker 2 (02:30:13):
Habit you shouldn't get involve this because some the more
common forms of Dwarf ism you have kind of the disproportionate.

Speaker 3 (02:30:21):
Right where their torso is normal and here we go
and the limbs are.

Speaker 2 (02:30:26):
Not, yes and that that's that's it's Just i'm, Reading
i'm reading from. Here this is one of this is
one of life's strange. Phenomenon i'd like to explain to. You,
see we think That, greg when this topic comes, up
is the most, dangerous but he's really not because he's so.
Fearless the problem is you And. Adler, Okay, Speedy i'm

(02:30:49):
talking to you and the two of. You you'll try
to take this and be delicate with, it but you'll
only make it, worse and your attempt to be, delicate
you'll actually end up being. Worse knowing that there's there's,
something there's something About Greg's it's almost like an adult
knife versus a sharp. One you'd almost prefer the sharp.
One you, know it cuts, clean but it's, done you.

(02:31:10):
Know and then you y'all come in, thinking, y'all y'all start,
over trying to make sure you don't say anything that,
well we were just going off and when you knew,
that you end up doing. It, yeah and y'all both,
mean well you have hearts of gold AND i AND
i respect. That it's almost LIKE i just need to
Text greg to my opinion is from science and stuff like.

(02:31:31):
That i'm not like trying to be funnier being. KIDDING i,
mean that's What i'm. Saying that's What i'm. Saying that
sign when he described he needs but you, start you're
you're like somebody who's trying to stay in bounds and
you want to so. Bad, okay you, know and so Does.
Adler before you know, it y'all were, SAYING i don't
have possession of the, ball and y'are under the cool over.
There it's not even. Close, Okay, okay they're not gonna

(02:31:52):
they're not going to rule. It, greg this is your.
Area you. Go but you know WHAT i, mean you
know What greg. Is, greg just just give me, facts
right mean in, FACT i went WHEN i heard him
describe how the gentleman his features and ALL i knew
exactly what it. Was, YEAH i knew you did agree
what it was and what he was and he. Was
that's WHAT i. MEAN i meant the condition what the
condition Was, NO i meant the condition what that Comm

(02:32:13):
thank You? Adler that was that was you handled that?
Well thank? YOU i THINK i intervened in. Time, yeah
we had an intern that was a little. Person and
when you're, back we're doing a three on three basketball
and that song of a gun could shoot. Good i'm
talking about he was three pointing. It so you mean
if we said, that you're saying that would sound, no
because would go too. Far try and describe that's a,

(02:32:34):
Comedy no it. IS i know that was. Straight, yeah,
yeah he had he had a tough time shooting over.
People he. Did, yeah you give. Him he's. Slinging but
if you're just you, know shooting from different. Spots he
really BECAUSE i slapped one up into the. Bleachers if you,
correct well you got to have a step back. Shot
but he turned around jumping not so, much but he could.

(02:32:55):
Go he could he could got tough to. Guard not
not really a thread in the, paint no. Fact AND
i didn't document one. Rebound, no, well this is not his.
Game his. Game they can shoot different. Areas grace chess. Pass,
YEAH i would say there chess, pass just that of.
It i'm just saying it would be one. BOUNCE i

(02:33:16):
wonder how he's. DOING i don't. Know it's Just. Blanco,
yeah nice.

Speaker 6 (02:33:21):
GUY i ran into him at a music festival years.

Speaker 2 (02:33:24):
Afterwards you did run Into, Yes, yes he was like what's? Up?
MAN i was, like, dude what's? Up and a little.

Speaker 13 (02:33:31):
Bit.

Speaker 2 (02:33:31):
Yeah sure they have a problem with. That they don't have.
It don't say it like. That they go watch behind
the scenes with that was a. Party they would party
behind the. Scenes there's an.

Speaker 6 (02:33:43):
Issue show off a little bit at The Bahamas Rick, no, yes,
me they.

Speaker 2 (02:33:49):
BEACH i don't do.

Speaker 1 (02:33:50):
That, hey let me.

Speaker 2 (02:33:51):
Ask, WELL i won't ask. That it was a mistake
the even the time they thought they put him up
there on top of the, cinema remember that. One through
the promotion a little. Reality, yes they did get around.

Speaker 14 (02:34:03):
And a little.

Speaker 2 (02:34:04):
Rowity well you need to be careful to not just
me and a no, No i'm just. Guiding that's ALL i.
Do is the number for that for that Fam, wow
they employed a lot they. Did you, know there's been
a little bit of a. Pushback, OH i know about
about the fact that they, like, no, no we don't
want we want the. Jobs, yeah and now they're animated
this is that. Thing we try to be offended on

(02:34:24):
behalf of people and then we end up kind of costing. Everybody,
yeah that's what happened with Snow. White m. Hm and
you know IT'S i, mean you think about it because
when they get to, CRANKING i mean we're talking, about you,
know three beers and it's off and. Running the most
successful actor that's a little person With Tyran. Lanister what's his? Call?

(02:34:45):
Me And elf one more? Time he's in the Movie. Elf, yeah, yeah,
yeah that. Guy, uh what's and? Finish And i'm gonna
be honest with, you game Of. Strong he. Was he
was one of the, best.

Speaker 7 (02:35:00):
Really.

Speaker 18 (02:35:00):
Struggling we're, Nervous we're.

Speaker 2 (02:35:05):
Nervous but he's one we're talking About Miles. Man that
was a very, yes and that was a very successful
Show maroons and he was a major character Major it was.
Good and he had drink that one. Too he Did
Hey womanizer. Too, Yes oh, yeah LEST i drink AND

(02:35:27):
i know, things that's WHAT i. Do that's. Right that's
a pretty good. Impression thank. You he was awesome in that. Show,
yeah he Was okay said he was a woman and
a drunk and you said that was.

Speaker 1 (02:35:40):

i do want to, say, UH i had a great
time last. NIGHT i, Mean speedy, guys y'all know this,

(02:36:50):
too even though y'all weren't with us, then, SPEEDING i remember.
This we're you, know you go back to this part
Of alabama and you Know, Speedy, Bubba Ryan, greenwood Non
ones AND, I i mean we have probably been through

(02:37:12):
Every is there a place In Marshall county In Edawall.
County these are two counties that are really close to
each other In alabama where the, Show The rick And
Bubba show started AND i was even doing the show
by Myself speedy used to do. AFTERNOONS i, mean it's
it goes way way way. Back so we got roots.
There my, wife Who i've been married to for thirty

(02:37:35):
years In, february is From Marshall county And Gunners. Wille,
uh So i've got relatives, there got in laws, there
and SO i had an opportunity to go be part
of a man church With First Methodist gunners With. Alabama
well they've been at it a, while they're in their fifth. Curriculum.

(02:37:56):
YEP i THINK i was either the fourth or fifth
man church they've, had AND i was looking forward to
it was it's. Been it was booked so long. Ago
it was booked Before sherry AND i book. Vacation because
her first thought, was what any world are you doing
us coming back from this vacation basically getting home, landing you,
know she's how the wives. Do they start washing all

(02:38:18):
the clothes you use for the, week and she goes
and then so and you're gonna go do a speaking
engagement like the as soon as we get, back And i'm, like,
well it was actually book before the. Vacation so it was,
fine it was, great and it was also an opportunity
to go see my father in law AND i saw
one of my brother in. Laws so they lived, there
and So sherry was, like, Well i'm going to go

(02:38:39):
too BECAUSE i want to go See she want to
go see her. Dad And i'm, THINKING i, said, baby
it's a man, church and she's, like well. No at
first it was, Like i'll just stay with. Dad well
it turns out, Dad dad wanted to.

Speaker 8 (02:38:49):
Go.

Speaker 2 (02:38:50):
Okay SO i was finally like AND i talked to
h To mark with the with the, church who was
kind of my, contact And mark McGee and he, said,
well Tell, sharry my wife's coming To they're helping with.
Everything and they decided and this is this is. GREAT
i love this. Guys this is a credit to all
of you and what we're doing. Here they finally decided

(02:39:11):
based on response it was a free, event that they
were going to move it to an alternate site away
from the. Church and have y'all been to all the
cool stuff that's happening In, Albertville. Alabama you, Know i've
got this new alpatheater and they've got this new sports
complex which is where we. Were so there was like a,
gymnasium multi purpose kind of thing, there so they moved.

(02:39:34):
It there had an incredible food truck without standing food
and SO i just, said, well, babe you just come
on come with. Us, well since i'm, SPEAKING i Mean
i'm at the front table with her, dad well you
know he doesn't want WHEN i go up to speak
him be by. Hisself so he was kind of, like
he was, LIKE i will you, know shares, LIKE i

(02:39:57):
don't THINK i should be up. HERE i THINK i
should go sit in the back with the women who were.
HELPING i, mean this IS i shouldn't bitper in the.
Front And i'm like And i'm, like, no you got
to That ALSTON i can think of was BECAUSE i
didn't think she was. GOING i was, like there go
all My adam And eve. Jokes they're. Out you, KNOW
i gotta TAKE i gotta take them. OFF i GOTTA
i gotta take them off the table now and w B,

(02:40:18):
Yeah and let's be, honest when our wives are, there
it's a little it's, different you, know when you're they're
not there and you're at some men's, things we're, free
willing to find out and anything, goes you. Know and
BUT i was Like adam And steve, right and so but,
anyway so THESE i would do want TO i want

(02:40:41):
to say to this men's ministry and to this church
and AND i also want to Thank Reverend Kenny, baskins
who's the singer pastor there At gunners were First. Methodist you,
know we said this a thousand. Times you don't take
it lightly when when you when people, say you, know
come here and open the word Of god and, teach
and So i'm just always so grateful and humbled to be.

(02:41:02):
Trusted so they had an incredible. Turnout they worked so
hard and they got the job, done and it was a,
powerful powerful night and it was good to be. Back
WHAT i, mean don't you AGREE i kind of called
that like going back. Home oh, Yeah i'm not from,
there but we. Were we were, there and you know
the fact that you, Know god sent me my wife,

(02:41:22):
there and, yeah everything we're doing now started, there and
so it was it's always special to go, there and
so many. Memories like you AND i could ride there's
a highway there for those around the country Called highway
four thirty. One AND i bet you speeding now could
start in one city and go to we go into
the state Of, tennessee and because it's In North alabama

(02:41:43):
or northeast and it works in The North alabama that
we have done some sort of, appearance some sort of own,
location or done some commercial for about every single business
For Miles. Fact, yeah and so it was it was
really really. Good and then also it was good for the,
show the new, show because this is a GOOD i,

(02:42:06):
mean these men are going to shoot as. STRAIGHT a
lot of them been around you know a long long,
time you, know with The rick And bubba show and
now here and really really encouraging to talk to. Them
and of course the most important thing is we Saw
god moving in a, big big, way and we saw
probably somewhere around thirty thirty one men that made life

(02:42:28):
changing decisions to repent and Follow. Jesus and the music
and those men singing and you know, what all kid.
Inside it was really special to have my father in law,
there one of my brother in, laws and have my
wife there that, way you, KNOW i, mean LIKE i,
say we kid around a, lot but it was you,
know Because sherry told me we were riding back home,
late and we were riding back home and she, said you,

(02:42:51):
KNOW i know what you're. Doing i'm very SUPPORTIVE i
pray over you a. LOT i have some idea when
you come back and tell me, Things she, GOES i
will tell you it was pretty cool to get immersed
into it BECAUSE i hear about the man, CHURCH i
hear about these, things and to hear men talking about
how the curriculum, works and hear all this, feedback and
to be there in the middle of, it she, said was,

(02:43:14):
REALLY i now have a whole different perspective about, it you,
know even more. SO i, mean she's always thought it was,
great but she was, like it's pretty powerful to hear
almost four hundred men singing. Hymn so she, said that's that's. Special,
yeah and to watch all. That SO i just want
to thank them from the bottom of my. Heart they
did a first class, job and kudos to them for, realizing,

(02:43:36):
hey we need to change. Venues, yeah for the number
that might be. Coming we're not set up for, this
and so they changed. IT i, Know, albertville and that
was a smart, disease let's call. It you, know same
thing with what y'all did while we were going to
anytime we're involved with events and you kind of get
an idea of the venue you're going to be in
and the size of, it and they, decide, WELL i
think we need to move. It you're always say ooh

(02:43:57):
if they move, it and now that's too. Big, yeah, yeah,
yeah it's a good. Crowd is that you look like? Anybody?
Right but, no the men filled it. Up so it
was great and the city of Albert. ALBERTVILLE i talked
to the guys at the church and they said they
really bent over backwards the parking recreation to make it,
happen because this wasn't what it was going to be
to begin, with and it was they made a. Change

(02:44:18):
and so about Our, yeah it was first, class it really,
was and really well. Done and and to hear how
the strategy has been. Working and of course when we get,
there another good thing you love about to. SHOW i get,
THERE i see buses From, TENNESSEE i see buses From Fort.
Payne you, know other churches came and and so you

(02:44:38):
know that it shows you once again you know how
how this platform. Works and we are here to. Entertain
we are here to laugh and and earn the right
uh to to, share you know what's most. Important but,
man to watch it all work like that is it
never gets. OLD i mean it never gets. Old so
so thanks to all those men and all the men

(02:45:00):
that came, out and he was extremely encouraging to talk,
about you, know the most important, things the eternal, aspect
but also great to get feedback on the. Show things they're,
liking things they're enjoying and and that's always a lot
of fun. Too still more to, cover unscreen phone calls
coming up before we're done, Too so once again my

(02:45:22):
thanks To Gunners Will First Methodist. Church we'll be.

Speaker 1 (02:45:25):
Back this is The Rick burgess Show Men Dope run
in The. Rain the new book By Rick burches available

(02:45:46):
now wherever you get.

Speaker 2 (02:45:48):
Books good to get feedback on that last night, too
as a matter of, fact speeding what it, was you,
know going, back LIKE i, said going back to where
we all started in that part Of alabama last. Night
you know how you, like people will just appear and,
uh by the, way let me tell you what was

(02:46:08):
really funny last night is that the guys started doing
the thing that you knew they listened to the show
because they all kept coming to me and saying you
don't remember, me do? You and they kept doing the
thing that we were talking. About, yeah but do you
remember the guy his last name was Was, wilder and
we told him to. Quit he needed to be quit
being legit and going that's that girl to marry. Him

(02:46:29):
and he was here in the studio and all, that
and he ended up finally asking. Her it was like
that that. Afternoon the whole time he had it planned,
right and but he didn't want to tell. Us he
was just, like, oh, yeah. Yeah and so he he
said that his wife has been adamant that he let
us know they are still. Married, okay, good and he
goes to that. CHURCH i THINK i had that, Right

(02:46:49):
is that?

Speaker 13 (02:46:49):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:46:49):
Yeah and and then SO i WAS i also was
was like seeing people that like they're doing different things,
now but they were like clients of ours when when
we were back in the, day back in the, day
it was so funny to see them in the different.
World you were talking about Men Don't run in The.
Rain you're not going to believe this because you know

(02:47:10):
HOW i am with with, you know how you CLAIM
i don't buy. ANYTHING i went to just even Though
i've read them and, EVERYTHING i went To Apple books
and and and got the audio version of Of Men
Don't run in The. Rain you did, Not, YES i,
did just SO i could be entertained by you hearing
you read.

Speaker 3 (02:47:29):
It should that really be the? Reason, well because it.
WAS i know that when you were recording those. Sessions
it was an ongoing bit on the show about the
process and then your you, know your pronunciation of things
and and all, that and the producer telling you this
that and the, other and the long days and they
didn't have, lunch and So i'm being entertained by. It

(02:47:51):
do you remember back in the, Day and it's, Not,
YES i bought, it they didn't give it To it's
not it's.

Speaker 2 (02:47:56):
Not, moultrie the Outdoor, moultrie not. Them, okay but do
you remember Or Steve, moultrie car. Guy, YES i Remember.
Steve he was there last, night was He and he
said he's also listened to the. Show, yeah but he's
not doing that. Anymore and he's, not of course he's he,
said he struggles the same THING i, do whereby keeps
thinking she's, retired and he's, Like i'm not. Retired i'm
just doing something, else you. Know So so, anyway SO

(02:48:19):
i GOT i saw him to, it and he had
listened to all. That, yeah he'd listened to the to
the audio, Too so a couple of things. Happening, so
thank You speedy for buying the audio. Book WELL i
was just twelve ninety. Nine thank. YOU i started laughing
WHEN i got. IT i realized my small royalty on
that will just end up buying you lunch one. Day,

(02:48:40):
Okay so so, Anyway, uh let's, uh let's look at
a couple of things that we're. Excited, hey football's, here
we're excited about. It we are Tom brady's. Statue, yeah
video number. Three boys here we go to these statues
that don't look like who they're supposed to. It it's
been revealed and uh And Tom brady took the. Opportunity

(02:49:03):
here's the. Unveiling here's the actual. Vail, okay, Okay, greg
is he going to lock?

Speaker 4 (02:49:08):
Him?

Speaker 2 (02:49:09):
Yeah pretty. Good there he is With Robert. Kraft better
than somebody. Else it's better Than wade's. Video, yes all, Statue,
Yes Dwyane wade is. Upset? Greg does it look like
him a little? Bit what's he? Wearing he's wearing his football?
Gear was he wearing like he's IN O t? Shirts,
well it's he's in football.

Speaker 4 (02:49:28):
Pads, yeah he's in football pads and a jersey and
helmet in, hand fist in the.

Speaker 2 (02:49:33):
Air yeah, what don'll show you? Wrong and nobody told
you who it. Was would you? Know That's Tom. BRADY
i knew he was going to say. That probably, not probably. Not,
greg just saying all, right here's that. Line by the,
way here he Is. Greg he used this and said
to take a shot At jets fans. Again so so
here Here's Tom brady talking about his. Statue That but

(02:49:54):
in the, end this statue isn't just For pats. Fans
it'll also give all The jets fans something to throw
their beers at as they lead the stadium every. Year that's.
Fun probably in the second, Quarter yeah about. That have
y'all seen that Documentary brady and uh and The blues

(02:50:17):
or whatever about the soccer. TEAM i guess he's over
In england fascinatest things celebrities are. Doing don't buy.

Speaker 3 (02:50:25):
Soccer, No i'm just saying that that it's the New Birmingham.
City it's a prime video documentary goes behind the scenes
with players and owners Like Tom.

Speaker 2 (02:50:33):
BRADY i tell you WHAT i, Do, GREG i just
didn't know if you had seen. IT i tell you
WHAT i. Do want to see Hard knocks with The Buffalo. Bills,
yeah so they're Hard knocks as though they.

Speaker 3 (02:50:43):
Are, uh it's really good to by the, Way bill's.
Mafia it's like a college. City it's like the whole
atmosphere's table thing they.

Speaker 13 (02:50:52):
Did.

Speaker 2 (02:50:52):
Yeah but so they're getting a new stadium next. Year
this is the last year in the current. Stadium and you,
know wind swirling and weather there's. Bad it is gonna be.
Outdoors H. Huh that doesn't make sense for. THAT i
love it't me. Wrong i'm all about the, elements BUT
i can't believe they're billing outdoor stadium with their. Weather
and so this Is Josh allen, here and he's he's getting.

(02:51:14):
It this is From Hard. Knocks. Uh that's the owner
of The bills, There. Okay and and they're building this
stadium to try to keep the wind from swirling in. It,
yes still gonna be open, air, right but they're trying
to cut down on the. Wind. Yes the the the
head engineer and then the one that's in charge of the. Project.

Speaker 3 (02:51:32):
Uh they talked about the sites that went into building,
this and that you could be standing where the field
is and wind is, calm but you go outside the,
stadium and it's just it's cutting.

Speaker 2 (02:51:43):
Up, okay but would you would you have gone? Inside
greg if you're The, bills if you're gonna building on
The mafia loves being out in the alien. Elements but it's.

Speaker 3 (02:51:52):
Miserable but this is Gonna it's is gonna be. Open
it's just the way they built up the, sides it
protects them from the. Wind, yeah it's still going to be.
Outside it's just if it's you, know fifty mile prior
thirty mile prior wind, outside then in the inside it's
it's just gonna be a little bit more. Calm it's pretty,
cool but Hard knox is it's really.

Speaker 2 (02:52:11):
Good so here's the old.

Speaker 4 (02:52:13):
Stadium you can see it's got some open fear, Size,
yeah opportunities for.

Speaker 2 (02:52:18):
Gusts and so now the next one's a lot more
like a bowl fire. Sides, wow look at. That, okay
and that'll be next, season not this, season, okay, Right,
yeah so it's kind of a, top but it's just
got a giant hole in. It, yeah, yeah isn't that?

Speaker 3 (02:52:31):
Crazy but the big thing is it's the last year
in their current current their current, stadium.

Speaker 2 (02:52:35):
And so that's the big to.

Speaker 13 (02:52:37):
Do BUT i.

Speaker 2 (02:52:37):
Did do you think the new stadium will enable enable
them to get first downs on short? Garbage, WELL i
couldn't even use the, tush but, no they can't even do.

Speaker 4 (02:52:46):
IT i was reading That Josh allen he averages less
yards per attempt in at home than he does, away
so it's, like, yeah this this stadium might be causing
him some. Problems so let's get a new.

Speaker 2 (02:53:00):
Stage, yeah there you.

Speaker 4 (02:53:01):
Go we'll see what he averages just seven point four
yards per attempt in home games in the last five.

Speaker 2 (02:53:10):
Years to, me The, bills WHEN i watched their explosive
offense in this athlete they got at, Quarterback, YEAH i
think they overthink. It you don't have to be push push.
People you got a, big old giant. QUARTERBACK i mean
to be a little more creative on short, yardage you,
know and don't be. Predictable and then the defense, goes,
well if we can pull off stop and we know

(02:53:31):
what you're going to, run, Man i'd use, that you,
know option to throw a run with a with an
athlete like that back. There, yeah SO i don't know.
THAT i think it's more on their lack of creativity
on short yardagies than. Him, yeah, TRUE i just the
Whole Hard knocks. Thing is it Lives Schrader straighter or
what's his? Name the voice Of Hard? Knocks oh, YEAH

(02:53:53):
i don't know. This the, Actor oh my, goodness it
Is Leave. Schreiber, YEAH i, forget had no. Idea he
does such a good job on. It but when you see,
him you're, like you. NARRATE i didn't think you can
narrate that? Good? Yeah FROM X. Men, yeah, yeah that's

(02:54:14):
that's when they were with The jets and he helicoptered.
In that's WHEN i, realized, why, GOSH i know that
is and it made me feel. Strange, YEAH i didn't
know that at, all basically because his first name some, weird,
right his last name, Too greg make for. That it really.

Speaker 1 (02:54:28):
Is this is The Rick Burgess. Show they are the

(02:54:49):
uncle who's your parents warned you About The Rick Burgish.

Speaker 2 (02:54:54):
Show thank you for being with us, Today. America it
has been great to be back to Get. Yeah they're
off much enjoyed, vacation, yes but we we love what
we do and we missed you. Guys it's good to be.
Back we will hear from you maybe one more time
before we wrap up the live show today of, course
any part of the show that you may have missed

(02:55:16):
available every day on the daily. Archive let, Me i'm
gonna take some mics down. Here do you trust?

Speaker 4 (02:55:26):
Me?

Speaker 2 (02:55:27):
Well he trusts. ME i don't. Know testing all of you,
out all, Right i'm just going To i'm gonna handle
this with kid. GLOVES i see. There it's not. Funny
there's two people's lives who've been. Lost, okay what did you?
Say i'm doing what they, love all. Right, apparently and

(02:55:50):
this is a, WARNING i think to. Everybody apparently there
was a. Party apparently a man and a woman to
leave with each other from the, party forty two year old,
male twenty six year old. Female the story is being

(02:56:11):
covered in different, places the one we have here From people.
Magazine sometimes when people ARE i feel Like i'm talking
to children who you have to not, you you. Guys
i'm just talking about the you, know trying to handle
it in a, way you, know in. Case, yeah so
you're talking to the adult school's back. In So i'm
thinking most are in, school but you never, podcast you,

(02:56:32):
know and homeschooling and all. That if you're an adult
right now and you're doing the podcast archive and you
got kids in the. Car we're. Coding it could be
some questions followed up, here just f y, yeah, okay well,
yeah so sometimes.

Speaker 13 (02:56:49):
What was?

Speaker 2 (02:56:49):
THAT i don't. Know sometimes there was a. Party sometimes
there's a, party and sometimes when a man and a
woman are at a, party they might leave the party
together in search of a scenic over. Look, okay oh,
yeah we've all seen. That, okay pretty, yeah go see
the skyline and maybe go up there and spend some
time together looking at the scenic, overlook and maybe who,

(02:57:14):
knows you, know things might become more and. More i'm
not sure i'd use the word romantic here since you're
in an automobile at a. Cliff but you, know it's
not exactly the, gift, right and the party and all
that well apparently sadly for these two. People but a

(02:57:34):
lesson and a warning is that the real, play that's
the real? Cliff, well that's a long a, warning a.
Warning you, Know god has a, plan and you know
it does not indicate here that this is a husband
and a. Wife, okay in the, story it. Didn't you,
know it seems to be a man and a woman
who left a party. Together by the, way she's twenty.

(02:57:56):
Six he's forty. Two what is she? Thinking but she's forty. Two,
no he's forty, TWO i, say SHE'S i thought it
was the other way. AROUND i thought it was SEE
i can't tell by the. Names oh you're, Right, yeah you're. Right.
Yeah oh, well this serves her, right she's forty, two
He's you should have never gone after somebody this. Energetic, yeah,

(02:58:17):
OKAY i didn't realize it was a female that was. Older,
yeah she's too much energy, here too much. Energy, oh
there they. Are and if you don't believe, Me if
you don't believe, me wait till you hear how this
story is your boyfriend and? Girlfriend oh, okay, yeah but
he's too young for her and she she paid a
price for, this AND i won't tell you. Why apparently

(02:58:41):
things headed in the direction of. Intimacy Greg you didn't
have to say that in the. Vehicle everybody's got it
and everybody. Knows, YEAH i, know he could have coded. That,
now we, said we're talking. Adults that's, fine, Mommy daddy's that. Right,
well that's that's parenting. Now but apparently things escalated to

(02:59:05):
the point that the vehicle Moved oh, wow uh And
i'll leave that. There back back to picking that twenty
six year old that's looking. Back she regrets that slip
out of. Gear, YEAH i was gonna, say, now the
mom and dads haven't explained automatic And i've heard of
a durned parking. Break yeah apparently Not greg, break, well

(02:59:26):
not getting, away but still, well the process of what
was going on worth. It the process of what was
going on in the vehicle moved the vehicle enough that
it fell off the cliff and killed both of. Them
oh what a? Fall hummm so Not, rick not a good,
scene not a good spell over one thousand feet far.

(02:59:50):
Man if they knew they were, FALLING i hope older
women everywhere taking this. Warning that's some significant. Movie get
the parking break? RIGHT i, know what do we? Do
especially if it's up you, know but they knew, that you.
Know they say the case is under. Investigation they don't

(03:00:12):
believe any foul play took place or anything. Violent you
had to find foul, well thank. You they found the,
bodies the Legacy, greg what. Happened So i'll tell you what.
Happened and you may wonder how they know this was a.
Situation they said that when they found them, nobody nobody

(03:00:34):
hadn't any clothes on and says that in the. Stories,
yes the story says That i'm Gonna i'm gonna just.
READ i Think greg got ain't. Funny, yeah they didn't.
Survive he was in the, car she was thrown from the.

Speaker 3 (03:00:48):
Car, well then we do What NOW i have an? Idea, then,
YEAH i do. Too m explains a. LOT i, mean
IF i was investigating, it, right he was, here she
was here's on.

Speaker 2 (03:01:04):
Hand, YEAH i, MEAN i, mean, buddy you gotta secure the. Car,
YEAH i probably they probably didn't think that would ever. Happen, well,
no but you know it had been right there on the.
EDGE i wonder how long they tell, anything well to
react the you, know at that, point once the car starts,

(03:01:28):
careening what do you? Do it's hold on for. Deer, yeah,
boy if you could have survived, It but what a Story. Monday, yeah,
OH i. Know if you could have, survived you get
hung in a, tree and then to rescue you because
if you get the, earth if you, yes now we're
straight up. Movie if you it's not if you could

(03:01:52):
have made it to the water cooler with that, one,
yeah and everybody said that was the. WEEKEND i don't
even BELIEVE i have the men and, say, Look i'm
not trying to, brag but uh not cars cliff haven't done, that,
Right but they're. Dead so so that's that's something we
need to remember real. Quick, yeah when we're doing all
these ainty comment it's it's easy TO i, mean get a.

(03:02:16):
Neutral by the, way there's a lot of. Warning there's
a lot of warnings here. Women, women when you're a little,
older stay with men your own. Age probably not as
dangerous on. Cliffs, okay they just forgot to put it.

Speaker 3 (03:02:28):
More, NO i was thinking it was a stick, shift you,
know because you can knock it at it sounds. Like
but but the car must have been, running not, off and.

Speaker 2 (03:02:36):
Then it just Got it doesn't say that, here but
it says that may literally says in the story THAT
i found it movement from inside. THERE i went from
What i'm saying that MAYBE i wasn't hitting. SOMETHING i
wasn't going to say that something hit the gear. Shift

(03:02:57):
by the, way this is also a heads up to
be sure you're parking break is. Serviced. Yah, yeah a
lot of them go. Bad they, do they. Do Greg well,
Said but here's What i'm, wondering click is it that
they got close to the edge of the cliff or
or did we roll for a while and then and
then they were trying to get a good. View so

(03:03:19):
this is another safety. Tip the view is not that.
Important don't don't put the car so close to the.
Edge older, women don't date men this. Young don't don't
make sure your parking break is. Secure, okay, uh do
not think the view is so important that you're going

(03:03:39):
to be that close to the. Cliff there's all kinds
of things to, learn all kinds of things to. Learn.
Now the number one, is you, know but this could
happen to people who are. Married, yeah you know that
you have a. Babysitter can't go back? Home you know?
YOU i mean you don't want to go back home, yet,
right you know WHAT i? Mean and or eason before?
Dinner well you know probably usually well maybe you, know

(03:04:04):
but some what you rather? Hear? See AM i would
you rather go off the cliff like? Them or fall
off the car while celebrating a win victory and break
your collar bone.

Speaker 6 (03:04:14):
And get Knocked, well they didn't, Live SO i gotta
go With i'm gonna go with the one that.

Speaker 2 (03:04:18):
Lived let's say he didn't. Live which one would you rather?
BE i GUESS i will say this going out and
a blaze of. Glory, no, no, no, listen hear me.
Out not in this, situation because this appears to be
boyfriend girlfriend so they're committing. Sin yeah that's. Right, yeah
that's not. Good the wife happily. Married, yeah under the
authority of the lord who sees. All this is a,

(03:04:42):
blessing not a bad way to go versus the collar
bone in the victory. Lane it's like a new twist
On thelma And louise kind of. Thing, boy it really
is what it really, is really is a nice little
little twist Off thelma And. Luise you know What i'm.
Saying it's a little DEFINITE a lot of lessons, there
this all, learn this all. LEARN i don't know THAT

(03:05:07):
i was gonna do unscreen phone calls right. HERE i
don't know that that's. WISE i don't know about. That,
YEAH i knew you were gonna say that instead of
clicking or. Ticket it's, like you, know emergency breaking before
you take it or. Whatever you just stop.

Speaker 1 (03:05:19):

tell you How apple will stop doing everything In china
if we could make this an environment where they could

(03:06:38):

so that'll be happening In. Kentucky and they also said
they'll be picking nineteen billion chips in The United states
and we'll only be buying rare earth magnets that are
produced in THE. Usa let's. Go so there's a couple of. Wins,

(03:07:02):
also it's just it's kind of showing them like this
is the part of the. Product get the toothpick out
of your. Mouth he's talking about what watching. Y'ALL i was, Asking, yeah,
yeah this is glast it's the glass they're going to be. Making,

him a blind ump ump and he and now he
wins missing him a bad? Game and how did he
find out paper seeing the video.

Speaker 3 (03:09:41):
Maybe seeing the video of the stats OF i think
he might be going back to the first female umpire
and and missed one and seeing the stats on, paper
and it kind of will change.

Speaker 2 (03:09:52):
You it's a good night look at that moment find.
