Speaker 1 (02:42):
So welcome everyone, and thank you for encouraging us so much.
As we get started today, we do have a lot
to do on the program today, and we'll we'll run through,
we'll update you on the latest with all the stories
that are out there. Of course, we'll cover some incredibly
important things within ourselves, like yesterday when we unpacked Dixie

(03:03):
watches uh and and the various uga horns out there.
So we do have some very deep things that we
get into as well. Hey, Bird has got some great
questions today. I'm liking the shirt too, Ricky ready you
know this. This was the the shirt. It's available at
rick Burgesshow dot com men don't run in the rain.
It has become a movement all across the country. And

(03:26):
if you don't have yours, uh that you can get
this shirt and wear it. It's a great conversation starter.
We have that. As a matter of fact, we've the
response on these has been so great. When I when
I checked in and say, hey, I'd like to have one,
of the store says, well, when we get restocked, will
send you.

Speaker 6 (03:42):
So So anyways, you know you hate that shirt?

Speaker 4 (03:44):
YEAHNG logos very very run DMC.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Straightforward, isn't it that? Look it's just straightforward. You can
see that from like across the store, you know what
I mean? Yeah, So, hey, what's that? So y'all y'all
let me know fellas if y'all want one, and I'll
make sure that you get one as well. Now, Greg,
you can't worry that because you do run in the rain, right, true, right,
Thanks for letting dad down, y'all. No, I don't run
the rain now.

Speaker 6 (04:08):
Just saying what we saw, don't so anyway we'll speaking
to that.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
We were just talking about that. How many of you,
if you're younger, you may not know this name. It
was very prominent in the eighties. Of course he's still
prominent now. He's still alive and doing well. The evangelist
James Robinson. James Robinson is really one of the most
intriguing stories, especially dealing with planned parenthood. I've watched Babbylone

(04:41):
b by the way, they pull no punches on the
defunding of planned parenthood. While they'll put a headline out there,
but I won't get into that because one of the
things that we always say, which by the way, I
have a soft heart about what about women who were raped?
I mean, what about a woman who was raped and
was impregnated in that horrible process? Man, you got admit

(05:01):
easy to sit in the stands and talk about that.
But that's tough. Yeah, I mean, I'm just going to
tell you, no matter what you believe, that's tough. James Robinson,
who when he stands before the Lord Jesus will get
a well done. There's no telling how many people are
going to spend their eternity in the presence of Christ

(05:22):
because of the ministry of James Robinson. Okay, he was
the product of rape. Wow, his daddy went to his
mama and said, you know what, it's not our place.
Took his wife back minister to or loved her, restored her,
took care of her. Certainly was upset about the man

(05:44):
that did this horrible thing to his wife, but raised
that child who became James Robinson. So you know, when
when you get down to the well that that that
life doesn't shouldn't be given an opportunity, you see things
like James Robinson and you go so anyway, But with
all that being said, so they still have an incredible

(06:06):
ministry that they do called Life Today, and they do
as matter of fact, I had a chance to go
be on James and his wife's TV show, but it
was right after The seven hundred Club and we were
you know, like I say, this show is only seven
months old, and I'm like, you know, I would have
to do something else, take the do the comrades again,
miss part of the show, maybe miss a whole show.

(06:28):
So we didn't do that. But his son, Randy Robinson,
also has a show called Life Today Live, and he
did have me on because I could just do a
zoom with him. And that episode is out as of today,
so I had an opportunity to talk to him about
the book. It's only thirty minutes, so it's not long.

(06:49):
You can search podcasts. Now here's what's weird. When you
go to podcasts. Just do this. Go to my story.
If you follow me on Instagram, I've got you the
right link to the audio. Now there's also a video
version of it.

Speaker 8 (07:01):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
And you go to lightsource dot com and look for
Life Today with Randy Robinson. Uh And I've put that
link on on X so if you follow me on
x you can find it there. If you follow me
on Instagram, look at the story. There's the podcast link
because when you dissearch podcasts, I guess there was an
old podcast that he might have done. It's just called
Life Today and then there's Life Today Live, and it's

(07:24):
actually two different things. So but anyway, I'm on Life
Today Live with Randy Robinson, which is James Son good
so and he's part of that ministry that family still has.
So yeah, so so looking forward to you know, kind
of high tech. All right, Speedy did the thing that's
on my story. I just here, Yeah, I did the
one that's on X so it probably isn't right.

Speaker 9 (07:46):
So.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
We'll check in the break right.

Speaker 1 (07:52):
That's good stuff, right, So so anyway, but no, I
remember the first time. You know, I'd heard James Robinson
for years before I knew his whole story, and I
remember the first time he told that story. I was like, whoa,
I did not know that.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
So I think you got it, Rick link looks like it's.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
Good really on X two.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Yes, okay, boy, believe it or not.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Trying to be hot TechEd. Look at you growing up
getting handy and hot tech. What's happening to me? I
don't know who says who says that once you're six
you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

Speaker 6 (08:23):
There we go, yep, old dog's earning some tricks there.

Speaker 1 (08:27):
I am so so X has the video audio version
and your Instagram story just takes you too straight to
the podcast. Correct, Yeah, look at you get having everything covered.
That's Randy right, Yeah, it was. I always it's so
much fun Greg to get to talk about Dad with people.
It introduced him to them for the first time. It
never fails. They're always they're always that one. Know, that's

(08:48):
a character. Yeah, unique, But the largest growing number getting
into finding out things about Dad's teachings. Women women are like, look,
these teachers are good. Don't matter for your man or
a woman, and so so it's that's just interesting. I'm
sure I'm starting to see that one more. Yeah. So
so anyway, that that's the we got no band, Randy.
I didn't say that to him. People ask her again,

(09:10):
when will Greg be on seven hundred club? Well, next month,
you know what if we're working on that, me and
formerm in America right.

Speaker 6 (09:18):
And his book is men don't watch sequels?

Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yes, no, men don't wear wedding rings to bed? Oh
yeah that okay, Yeah, I stuid forgotten? Did what I
was real sleepy boy.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
That's a good one. You know what, that is a
great one.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Text Nation he said one time at old man told
me you can teach an old dog new tricks if
that old dog's hungry. Yeah, birds still hungry.

Speaker 9 (09:47):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
I got a lot of a lot of light levels.

Speaker 10 (09:50):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:51):
How about this adapt or get or go home? Yeah,
we'll be back. More of the rick Birds show coming up.
Watch to do today, folks, This.

Speaker 11 (10:03):
Is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
You're enjoying a best of hour on The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 7 (10:19):
The Hardest working Men in the Business, The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
These dogs still want to eat. Let's go, all right,
So let's run a couple of things down, all right?
From Text Nation. I'm beout o Text Nation, Rick Birds Birds.
I can't find the book at Barnes and Noble. Okay,
the retail side is just a it's a weird game.

(10:46):
Now here's what I know. I actually had a meeting
about this yesterday, so your timing is perfect. Out of Georgia.
The book is in the hands of distributors that distribute
to retail in all kinds of places. Okay, So I
think what we do know it's in some retail outlets
because we can actually see the sales yesterday. We looked

(11:06):
at it, so they have it. So what you probably
need to do is to go to whoever the manager
at this Barne and Noble where you are and say, hey, y'all,
don't have men don't run in the rain by Birge.
Are y'all going to order it? Because it is available
to them. We do know it's in the hypa. So
if they went to the to their distributor and said

(11:28):
we need a few copies of this. They would get it.
So we do know that. But this retail process, the
book industry, like everything else, is changed incredibly and sadly. Sadly,
I think sadly the bookstores are just not that bigger
priority anymore because most everybody buys everything online now when
it comes to books, but they do have access to it,

(11:51):
so you probably just need to let them know there's
a market for it and they would sell some if
they'd get them, and they'll get them. It's funny you
said that because I remember on a much smaller scale
when when Dad came out with his Larry the Leaf series,
a lot of folks went in and talked to the
manager whoever's responsible for grabbing some and different areas would

(12:14):
would request books, you know, to be in the store
because there are a lot of people that just like
to still go in and have that experience. I love
a bookstore. Yeah, it always makes me have to go
to the bathroom for some reason. That's quiet. Yeah, it
is weird how that that that certain settings, Hey.

Speaker 12 (12:29):
Leave the books in the bookstore if you're going to
the restroom. I worked at a bookstore. That was a problem.

Speaker 8 (12:34):
People, take.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
That's not your house.

Speaker 13 (12:37):
You know.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
We're trying to sell that book, do you know, and
you're in there and touching the book. Yeah, touching. Wow,
that's true, thanks budd. Wait.

Speaker 12 (12:45):
We would get books out of the bathroom like a lot.
Once at least once a day or that, somebody brought
another book into the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
Now between the Harley Shop and the pet store, when
was this bookstore?

Speaker 12 (12:56):
This was the I actually worked in the coffee shop,
so book do. It wasn't my duty, So I wasn't
the one getting the books out of the bathroom. And
people were taking the books into the bathroom you know too.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
I can see you in those days, and so.

Speaker 12 (13:11):
I didn't have to get the books out, but I
would also I would also, you know, keep note of
which books were in brought in there, buy that copy,
you know. But I worked in the coffee shop section
of it. It was a Joe Muggs.

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Actually, even to this day, even to this day, every
time my wife drags me into a coffee shop, without fail,
I see young Chris Adler working in there. They're always there. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (13:36):
But but no, what what Speedy is saying is right.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
That The key is whether it's made it to the
distributor or not. And it has, so then it gets
down to what you're talking about. They just have to
they probably they probably have been given probably not a
paper readout anymore. It's probably on a computer. This book
is available to you if you want it. Right. Also,
it was Mickey Dean, god rest is soul. Have you

(13:59):
ever been thinking about something in your mind and you
wondered if you're the only one and then all of
a sudden somebody brings it to be, like wow, So
that that's universal. That happened with the bookspot bookstore thing.
I remember thinking to myself and Greg, you and I
talked about it, that there's certain things and remember we
even played one time a doctor did a study on
it that seemed to trigger your body saying we need

(14:23):
to go to the restroom and I'm not talking about
number one, right, And bookstores seem to be a trigger.
And I remember thinking that. I remember thinking about that,
and one day Mickey Dean on the air brought it
up and I said, wait a minute, so that happens
to you too, and he said yes, and I said,
I said, I thought that was just something weird with me.
And you know there's two that one of them you
got to watch because another one is going out into

(14:44):
the woods. You know you have to want you're out
there by yourself. You've got to enjoy the woods. There's
something about quietness and a little bit of a long
time that triggers your body going, let's take let's let's
let's take a deuce. Oh, I don't know what it
is there it is, but a bookstore is like if
I ain't got time for that, and don't go in there,

(15:05):
I'll go into a book store and check their bathroom first,
because I know I'm going to be visiting it. If
I get on the wrong eye and look at the
wrong you know, I'm starting to get really really in
deep thought about something. Next thing you know there, I
am so does that happened to only me? Mickey Dean?

Speaker 12 (15:22):
The wood stores and coffee like a fiber like there
is your big four offenders.

Speaker 6 (15:26):
Well, well, I will tell you another thing.

Speaker 1 (15:28):
If I'm having a bit of a struggle and I
want to go ahead and get something done that I
know now would be a better time for me. I
wander into our storage room and look around.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
Okay, something about that just why.

Speaker 6 (15:39):
There's something about it I describe.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Now. I will say this, it's a number one, not
not the other. But there's certain things on this show
that trigger it for me, like Burgess ball.

Speaker 6 (15:52):
It doesn't matter then we're doing it, if we're about
to do the wheel, that because suddenly I have to pee.
I don't know why.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
That's what energy. Maybe it's just so excited. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
I have no idea. I have no idea why, by
the way, just triggers it. Here's somebody says it happens
to me every time before I preach. Sorry, buddy, I
didn't know this. They said an episode of Seinfeld. I
forgot about this. They made George by the book he
took to the bathroom.

Speaker 4 (16:18):
Yes it was, it was marked.

Speaker 12 (16:19):
It was flagged in the system because George got busted. Well,
I wish we had that system. Frankly, we didn't have
that system.

Speaker 1 (16:27):
So I don't I don't know why why the bookstores
are triggered, but it is uh and and it always
has been for me.

Speaker 12 (16:33):
Oh, you know, this is probably pretty normal. Just going
by a fountain.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
You know, number one, I'm talking number I'm not talking
number one.

Speaker 12 (16:43):
I was just saying that's like more normal thing, normal
bookstores and storage.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
You ever been in your vehicle back and you got
a number one and you're trying to find the place,
and you're like, I think I can make it, and
all of a sudden, an afternoon thunderstorm or something hitting win.
That's the worst you. Let me tell you A bad
a bad spot.

Speaker 6 (17:03):
And I ran through this for a little bit and
had to really kind of overcome myself.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
And that's carpool. Whenever I would get in carpool, you know, yeah,
suddenly I had to use the restroom.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
I had to use the restroom.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I almost went to school one time, well.

Speaker 12 (17:20):
Yes, picking up picking on my kids from school, and
I didn't realize they had an adult sized bathroom.

Speaker 4 (17:27):
I thought, I don't know why.

Speaker 12 (17:29):
I thought the teachers were using tiny little potties or
so I'll go in the in the little boys room,
potties like like.

Speaker 4 (17:36):
A jar on the ground. Goodness. And then I get
out of there.

Speaker 12 (17:41):
And they're like, by the way, there's an adult restroom
over here. If you ever have this occasion again.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Like that, it really affected.

Speaker 4 (17:51):
I couldn't help but do another way?

Speaker 1 (17:53):
Tell what else you forgot? Is that what the What
the teacher actually said was you better get back to class.

Speaker 14 (17:59):
Boy.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Little y'all take your old man shuffles and get out
of here.

Speaker 6 (18:03):
Okay, okay, that's funny.

Speaker 1 (18:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
Somebody got it for Greg yesterday, Wendy from Obile.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
He sounded like she was about one hundred. She gonna
be calling somebody one. Is that kind of you're injured?
Don't be me. That's fine.

Speaker 15 (18:25):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
I wondered about this. Going into someone else's house triggers me.

Speaker 9 (18:29):
Not me.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
I'm just asking for another he said, I'm asking for
another plumber. Oh that means him. I could see that.

Speaker 6 (18:36):
I would think you have to make sure things are
right before you go on little appointments.

Speaker 4 (18:41):
Yeah, oh no, he said, awkward asking for it one joint?

Speaker 1 (18:45):
Is that what he said?

Speaker 6 (18:47):
I thought he said asking for a plumber like he
wasn't the one.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
You haven't you know what Greg would.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Do sometimes you have.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
You don't have to do that.

Speaker 4 (19:03):
No, you don't happen.

Speaker 11 (19:06):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
You're enjoying the best of our on The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 7 (19:18):

It'll be an interesting Strange Encounters. We interview the author.
Now tell me this in a provocative title, what every
Christian should know about Spiritual Warfare? And it's it is exhaustive,

(19:48):
it's a it's a thick it's a thick book. Uh
So we'll interview that author this for this weekend's episode
and roll through some of the content that's in there
and tell you how to get that. So episod SO
seven Strange Encounters. Wherever you get podcasts, be sure you

ago at the CMA Fest in Nashville. Miles Morgan. He

agency out of Nashville, and he's coming back to Birmingham.

(20:34):

by going to ticketmaster dot com. July eighteenth, Iron City, Birmingham,

(20:55):
Miles Morgan and boy he is really really taking off.
Uh ticketmaster dot com get those today. All right. So
I know that we were you know, this whole thing
about breakfast here at the at the studio. I do
want to thank one Terry Wilburn again. And now I
know protein balls are on Rix picks. Are these I

(21:20):
can't remember if we ever put them here? These are
breakfast balls, right, yes, but you can eat.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Them at any time, just breakfast. But their breakfast.

Speaker 1 (21:29):
Balls they are okay, they are there there, their breakfast balls.
Now I think I want to say they're they're actually
named something else, but their breakfast I guess breakfast meatballs.
And she got the she got and it is in rispicks,
and uh she got from the Blood Sugar Balance cookbook.
We talked about that. Actually the author lives in our

(21:50):
flagship market and uh so anyway, the recipe is there.
If some of you started asking questions, because we love
them so much. And uh and some of you have
actually emailed say, hey, y'all, y'all made them and they
are delicious. Uh, and so they I brought some in
and I wanted I told Greg this because I know
he brings things in just for him. I told him,
I said it for you too, buddy. So y'all portray

(22:11):
that I bring things to eat, but I would chair
them with people. If you want to know when you
bring things in, you're like, I brought stuff something from me.
I'm just saying, can I say a sentence? Greg? Just
sometimes this is stuff that brings clarity to But you
can have something when we love each other. We love
each other when we love each other, Okay, And I
just want to say what you said, and I want
you to pretend like you didn't say it. What Okay,

(22:32):
pretend like I said it. Okay, here I am coming
in and picture send me walking in. I'm here, and
you said me go ahead and welcome me to work. Hey,
good morning. Well you said that's that's about that's about
how brought you are. Yeah, when I come in, can
we be a little son here? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (22:48):
Okay, let's tride again. I just came in.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Hey, good morning. It's hard to be happy at four
in the morning, and it's in the morning for us
to and you notice, and I'm carerying. Let's say I've
got a breakfast burrito. Okay, that that that I brought
from home. Okay, And I say this sentence, Hey, I

(23:11):
got a breakfast burrito, but for me, does that sound
like that you can have some other? Did he not
say just what you did? Saying like we had a
stock of what I was eating. And I was like, well,
they're still in there because I brought this from home
for there for me. But he actually said that, he
said for me. I'm not there's inventory still in there.

(23:33):
I mean, I know you see me eating one, but
I actually brought this one from home. That's for me.
But that doesn't mean that's what you brought it for us.
You're saying, y'all got your own and this one for me.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
Women like the woman me you're focusing on, so we don't.

Speaker 6 (23:50):
Get breakfast anymore. So you're on your own, That's what
I was.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Greg. So it's good we have that stock in there,
but if I got one at home, why get in
this stock and make it run out quicker? Okay? Do
you ever pivot to when new things happen. Do you
remember the day I came in, I said, I've made
a decision that we're just going to take this as
a company.

Speaker 6 (24:08):
That's only, and I'll go to the grocery store and
keep it.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
But if I have the same thing at home that
I had planned on bringing, why not bring it and
then not the other And it won't affect the other
inventory because it's four. No, anybody can have it. But
I brought it because it's four. I mean, I brought it.
But if you can look at it, if you looked
at me and said, hey, can I have that? I go, yeah,

(24:31):
then I go get one of the other ones.

Speaker 6 (24:33):
But I wouldn't say it after you said it was
for you. I wouldn't ask that question.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Killed that question, Yes, and you killed that scenario. Adler's
putting up the definition of selfish. Look look read it
out loud. I didn't see anywhere that I was supposed
to feed the chew. No, nobody that part. I just say.

Speaker 6 (24:57):
The complete sentence was you said blah blah blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (25:00):
Well I shouldn't have said for me, because anybody could
have it. I just I meant that one last, not
one last. I got I brought this one, so we
still for we have You know what, I think, I
just wanted to think. That's the closest thing I've ever
heard Greg saying, Well, I shouldn't have said it that way.

Speaker 6 (25:14):
He didn't quite say that, he didn't quite own it.

Speaker 1 (25:17):
But sensitive I say say at Lisa feels though, just
to just to get him say, hey, it's on me,
that's not true. I'm a threat to take it on
right by the way, Greg uh continues to run up
the score between Mom and me uh and Mom and
Greg yesterday. He's undefeatable. I've got to talk to these

(25:38):
two sons of mine that are married. What are we
waiting on on children? Yeah, I mean the Trump Guard, Yeah,
I have. I have got to get I've got to
get that. I got to get some grandkids. Okay, because
Greg went by and and he and who all went
you meant your wife. They came over and brought two

(25:59):
of his grand kids over to moms yesterday and Mom
got to spend all afternoon with the great grandkids. That
that's impossible to defeat. Yeah, I got a little separation there.
You go over there and kind of strut around little bit.
Yeah we had fun. Yeah, I bet you know what
you had. It was great, Oh it was great.

Speaker 6 (26:15):
You probably didn't have to call her to open the gate,
did you, because you have the.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
Little thing I don't. I just pull up away, I go, sorry, Rick,
typing any code and nothing? No? If you, if you,
if you've got if you're, if your children have have
produced great grandchildren for her, you're you're the ones she
speak for grocery shopping that that person doesn't have to
put the code in. I got two more than I
can lay down it anytime. I know you got a

(26:40):
total four. I can't keep up with it. Hey, sons,
what are y'all doing to me? I mean, somebody get
me a grind kid? Yeah, I got something's got to happen.
So so anyway, yeah, that's you know. Of course the
things I handle seem important too, But apparently they don't
get that used to have to put a code in

(27:00):
to beat great grand kids.

Speaker 6 (27:03):
There's only one hanging thing from the for the reverview mirror.

Speaker 4 (27:05):
There's only one, Rick, you could have one. There's one.

Speaker 1 (27:09):
I mean technically, and it's not a big deal, but
if we were there's only one I would get it
because I'm there more.

Speaker 6 (27:15):
I'll see that nothing.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
I ain't saying that's a bad thing.

Speaker 16 (27:20):
That's always like Jimmy down from the source that brought
the term for me.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
Uh he now devils down.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Well, I mean I'm over there more. We said, hey, guys,
we've got one bargain.

Speaker 6 (27:34):
It's practical. Yeah, it's practical.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
Right, Yeah, I don't mean it's any more important, right,
trying to get uncomfort. Would think when she checked her
bank account today, she might appreciate me a little bit.
But but the but but the uh getting that one
thing handled. Yeah, but it's good. But anyway, so I'm right,
I'm right in the middle of a burden's discussion.

Speaker 4 (27:58):
I can't I can't go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
You don't have to go there to do it.

Speaker 11 (28:02):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
That's true. Trigger you know what you that's just a
phone call. And you know what yesterday, yesterday I almost
you know, busted up in there.

Speaker 6 (28:10):
You know, but I thought, no, this is their time,
and you should have well I.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Thought about that, but I thought I thought it would
look like I'm trying to get on get on the
surf on your way. No, you didn't want to call
get a code. That's what it was, right, But plus
I knew I'd have to put the code in. Yeah,
and then when the sun shine a certain way, you
can't see it. Okay, listen, right, let's save and hey, Rick,
Hey Rick, if you're if you're wearing some coasters, take

(28:35):
them off, okay, because you can't say everything's fine on
the screen. Okay, let me let me ask you this though. Seriously,
let's get real just for a minute. We all know
and you deal with little kids. You never know what
they're bringing, you know, they they might give a ton
they so did they both. Was it a great day
for Nan and her great green? Yes, they interacted good,
It's good. Good nobody, nobody. They didn't get too sleepy

(28:59):
on the right over because that's it that that's where
they just fall asleep and then and then you pull up.
It's hard for them to recover from that, no matter
who it is. But everybody's picked up on it. Greg.
Greg is making an all out move to the primary spot. Yeah. Look,
we all got our different duties. We're a team. I'm
a quarterback.

Speaker 6 (29:19):
The words.

Speaker 1 (29:22):
You're just there, boy, I have a possession of receever
you pick the first that we.

Speaker 17 (29:29):
Needed that.

Speaker 4 (29:30):
You're not bragging.

Speaker 1 (29:31):
It's just the way. It is, just the way. Look,
it's just the way. Life is what you're gonna do.

Speaker 11 (29:41):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (29:51):

(30:32):
He's coming up a little bit later on Wednesday. Bible

So catch that at noon Central one o'clock Eastern on
the Rick Burgess Show YouTube channel if you want it live.
If you can't get it live, the podcast and the
YouTube channel have an ARCA for you soon after to

(30:53):
get on your own time. A couple of.

Speaker 6 (30:54):
Things happening in the world of celebrity. I never knew that.
Does everybody remember live Aid?

Speaker 1 (31:02):
Oh? Yeah, remember a big historic event. I'm not sure
why Jimmy Page is talking about it now. It's because
the forty first anniversary is this month. That's what I thought.
I thought there has to be some anniversary that I remembers,
an all day thing, because he had some from over
in London, England, and then you had some here, I
think in Philadelphia.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
How were you then, Adler? When Live Aid came out?

Speaker 4 (31:25):
Zero was I was not born yet?

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 4 (31:28):
And I will say eighty five.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
Yeah, I'll say it's the fortieth, not forty forty first. Yeah,
July thirteenth, nineteen eighty five. Right, so if it's been
forty years.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Thirty nine, I'll be forty in December.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
All right, Well you don't remember this, and you might
be glad.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
Jimmy Page just says he regrets replacing John Bonham with
Phil Collins. Yeah, Phil couldn't do it. Didn't have the chops.
Does he mean anybody? Or he just hated replacing John Bonham?
Or is this well? At Phil? He said we didn't
have a lot of rehearsal time, so I'm acknowledging that.
And he said that Phil Collins could not get the
beginning of rock and roll, right, He said he never could.

(32:05):
He couldn't get it. Right, and he said, and it
was a mess. And did you know that to this
day Zeppelin will not allow any footage of that three
song set to be shown.

Speaker 6 (32:14):
On anything like the DVD, the audio package or anything
that it can be. They forbid it. Yeah, they did rock.

Speaker 1 (32:20):
And Roll, whole Lot of Love and Stairway to Heaven
and they said that Phil Collins just could not did
not get it done. It sounded good to have Phil Collins,
he just wasn't as good a drummer as Bonham and
didn't have enough rehearsal time to get them down. Oh
my goodness.

Speaker 6 (32:34):
Well, Greg, I'm just saying he says it, regrets it.

Speaker 1 (32:36):
Yeah, maybe it would have been better to go for
Robert Perfect that day. Probably not, Greg, I'm I'm just
giving you this. You think Robert hit ever?

Speaker 13 (32:44):
Know?

Speaker 1 (32:44):
Probably not? Probably not. So here here we go. So
the live ad fortieth anniversary celebration is this Sunday, and
the big story is led Zeppelin reunion is not going
to be part of the reunion, is what they're saying.
I think I found footage of Phil Collins and yeah,
you Phil Collins said if he could have walked off,
he would have, and he could not get he couldn't

(33:06):
get rock and rolled down. It's a tough beginning to look.

Speaker 4 (33:09):
At Robert Plant.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
The Page said they only had two hours to rehearse
three songs. The Robert Plant's vocals weren't great. These are
the reasons why they won't allow it. John Paul Jones
was barely shown on camera. They didn't want to build
as led Zeppe and Reunion, but wanted to help the charity.
Look at all those would probably help the char Mark

(33:32):
Goodman with m t V, one of the v jays
gave a spoiler on what uh they were going to
play while talking over the intro of the song.

Speaker 6 (33:40):
They didn't like that, so.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
They were introduced by Phil Collins, who then played a
second drum set next to Tony Thompson. Jimmy Page regretted
the decision, saying Phil couldn't drum the intro to rock
and roll.

Speaker 9 (34:04):
That was it.

Speaker 6 (34:05):
So they those are seven points of why they want
to lie. He said, I knew we were in trouble
when he couldn't get us started.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
There about when Phil Collins says, if I could have
left the stage, I would have, but I was stuck.
So I guess what are what are this am?

Speaker 4 (34:19):
I goodness, we got to hear this. Listen to this
intro right here?

Speaker 18 (34:21):
Okay, Jill Collins on stage for what is now being
called the led Zeppelin Reunion.

Speaker 4 (34:28):
This is the one that a lot of people have
been waiting for.

Speaker 9 (34:30):
I'm not going to give away the whole set, but
i will tell you this.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
That's rock and roll and they're doing stairway. Let's go
to the stage.

Speaker 6 (34:39):
But thankfully for Phil Collins, they didn't hear his intro.

Speaker 1 (34:43):
Right that's a lot of people. Man, still Collins go.
He played and he played in both places there in
the whole day. He played in England and flew to
America played also, yes.

Speaker 12 (34:59):
That because he was like I was in I was
in England this morning or something like that, and he's
so cool.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
But you weren't alive. You didn't have a chance to
enjoy that.

Speaker 4 (35:10):
But the lore of live ed on, the lore of
live ed lives on.

Speaker 1 (35:14):
So Greg. It was Wimbley Stadium in London and then
John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philly, and he played both
of them, yes, and the only one couldn't on the
concord and couldn't do the uh couldn't do the intro. Yeah,
let's kind of some slack man was sleepy right in
two hours rehearsal to go do a whole lot of love,
rock and roll and Stairway to Heaven. I need a
little more time, wow, Yeah, especially if.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
They're doing Stairway.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
Okay, thanks, you're talking over the intro Corsefield Collins glad.

Speaker 4 (35:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (35:42):
And so I guess one of these these are bootlegs
that are out there.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
I guess that. But led Zeppelin has been official thing
and released right than there. I remember you too, And
I remember Bino climbing on top of the lighting rig.
Remember that I do. I did pretty cool. It was, uh,
could you go ahead and find and you're not gonna lie?
I could?

Speaker 7 (36:01):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (36:01):
Sadly, we now have the mug shot for Mary Lou Rutting.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
Yeah, they released that. They released that yesterday.

Speaker 4 (36:07):
Let me tell you they released footage I think too.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Yeah. She was arrested on the d u I charge
in West Virginia, yes boy, and uh, you know the
thing it was odd about that is there was this
thing where you know she was dying, yeah yeah, and
had no money on and then everybody raised the money
for and then we thought that's all we had to
do for Mary Loud. We didn't know she was she
had issues beyond this and and didn't that kind of

(36:31):
shock you when a sin she was getting arrested. Yeah,
and I thought we just helped her. Yeah, that doesn't
look like America's sweetheart.

Speaker 12 (36:36):
No, no, no, I'm not going to even show that anymore.
So I think find her famous vault.

Speaker 6 (36:41):
Let's just think, is that huge? I think she has
an oxygen They.

Speaker 12 (36:43):
Were giving her oxygen during the d u I test
because she was failing so poorly.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
Here's a vault. There we go test. That's not what
we'rek Would we not watch that?

Speaker 1 (36:53):
That's the whole story. Greg really wants to see the
other he does. Okay, she all want to see her
do an Olympic coup.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
That's a mayor right there, Greg, Look, I.

Speaker 1 (37:01):
Saw it live. I'm going to say something about this though.
That really really is an awakening, a wake up for everybody.
At that point, you're thinking this, this young lady is
set for life. She will, she will, she will, she
will just coast through life and life life. It's the finish.

(37:22):
It's hard to finish well. It's hard to finish well.
It's so hard remember her looking like that. So when
we saw the picture, Greg, it's been a long time.
She's a she's nothing. You know, that's not unnatural. So anyways,
she will wear some oxygen. Well you show Greg, he
wants to see that. Yes, I mean, I mean, isn't
that the whole point? Well we showed that girl passed

(37:46):
out during the national anthem fifty times.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Well that's different, Greg, that's wow.

Speaker 1 (37:50):
What if she took off and did all the backflips
and stuff like.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
You are sober?

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Greg? I'll quote the who's thats were talking abou great Bens.
You can go sleep at home tonight, okay, if you can,
If you can do that, the officer was saying. The
officer was heard saying, you're marry Lou Retten. You can't
walk the line? Are you serious? You know you walk
to balance me? He turned a flip landing on it.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
You don't even have a license, uh yo, you driver's
license in Texas and we just don't have it with you.

Speaker 1 (38:19):
Oh, I don't any of that. That that's terrible.

Speaker 4 (38:23):
I know that. I know.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
The movie's the great fault. Yeah, yeah, what if that?
What if you look and she was doing the the
intoxication test, and you look over and the judges were
giving her like ones and two notes in here. I
know these officers are professionals, but at some point are
they go?

Speaker 4 (38:41):
Is it going through their mind? While I'm arresting Merrily?
You heard walking the line is so bizarre because he
used to walk a balance Peach.

Speaker 1 (38:48):
I know she would turn a flip land on it.
Walk the line from America went on, America.

Speaker 11 (38:57):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

calls coming up this hour. That's always a lot of fun,
so we we will definitely give you your shot to
come in here rapid fire as we go, one right
after another. Uh, this is continued. This story has now
come up the third time on this show. The third

(40:17):
time it's come up as if this is some big
build of building. I don't get it. I don't understand it.
I don't follow it our time. What is all this
hype that McDonald's is bringing the snack snap rap back?
I know we've already talked about this, but here yet
is another story. People loved it. It's like there's been
this countdown, like like it was the countdown to you know,

(40:38):
space X is about to send somebody to Mars and
we want to keep updating you on this. Was it
that popular the first time? The update is now, Greg,
how about this? The you McDonald's fan favorite snack wrap
returns this week?

Speaker 6 (40:52):
I think officially today I'm in count fan favorite.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
You remember the time that they booted the Fritter you
booted it and that was a good printer boy. Always
it was a good I'm just let me tell you, well,
you your pride, Greg's fritter from his coach, and then
they bring this back. I've never eaten one of these.

Speaker 6 (41:08):
They may, I may like it.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
I don't snack rap. I mean, I got no problem
with the snack ramp. You're not anticipating this return. I
just can't believe we've built this up like this is
the tap down to can the can the McDonald's snack
rap cure cancer? I mean, I don't. It's like they
took the big back away and they were bringing it back.
You know that store was based on the Big Mac.
So so here we go. It was discontinued nationwide about

(41:34):
nine years ago. Nobody cared, and it will. It will,
stage it's comeback. I just don't see people. Here's what
I see. I'm in the drive through. I'm at McDonald's.
I got my kids and my grandkids in the car. Okay,
I got it. Everybody wants McDonald's, got no problem. McDonald's.
Had great times with my kids at McDonald's. Anticipate I'll

(41:55):
probably have a good time with my grandkids. You know,
if if my kids will ever give many. Okay, so,
but this is how I would see it going. This
is about the level of my enthusiasm for the snack wrap.
I need to do a little better, all right, guys, Yes, okay, yeah,
well I'll get everybody happy.

Speaker 17 (42:12):
To me.

Speaker 1 (42:12):
That sounds good. Oh, I guess snack wrap. I don't
uh if y'all got that snack wrap and like real
chicken as we do, you know the snack wrap is back. Yeah,
just settle down like Greg, he's up, Francis, it's a
snack wrap. Okay. The company and the exact quote here
is that had a cult following, a cult following, bringing.

Speaker 6 (42:35):
It back, bringing it back. I never met anybody in
that cult.

Speaker 4 (42:39):
And what I'm saying to it occasionally, but I mean
it was it was fine.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
But you went to it, then you go to it
the way I just talked about that looks like maybe
a better choice, not bad. Yeah, I'm not saying there
even Yeah, I don't mind them. But but the.

Speaker 6 (42:53):
Fanfare around this I don't understand.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
I said it comes with it mccrispy strip rips and
shredded lettuce cheese. Can I get it grilled? I don't
think so. Yes, you can I don't think so well,
you were you Ronald McDonald. Now I'm just saying I
don't think this is the macrib. Can you get it?

Speaker 6 (43:13):
I don't know. I don't know though.

Speaker 1 (43:14):
Rick. By the way, we didn't do the story yet
this week, but we had the story somebody stole the
Ronald McDonald. Oh, I could so seous doing that. Yeah,
little one, great picture. You go out there and you
you come over to like wherever we're living at the trailer.
You've got Ronald McDonald.

Speaker 4 (43:32):
And they're hanging out with us and sitting on the couch.

Speaker 1 (43:35):
You speak to it every time you come in with that.

Speaker 4 (43:36):
Don't put a cold one in his hand?

Speaker 1 (43:38):
Oh yeah, yeah, you know. But I'm not saying people should.
I'm not saying people should do that. Please please look
and they have the ranch snack wrap and the spicy
snack rap, but I don't see it as I'm going
with the spice.

Speaker 12 (43:54):
And they're bringing in a limited time spicy egg McMuffin,
which I might check that out.

Speaker 4 (43:59):
Let's looks like the everybody says they do have a grilling.

Speaker 12 (44:03):
Okay, it looks like the comments trying to boost sales
because and by emphasizing lower cost items. Well imagine that
that's that sounds good to me and a lot of people.

Speaker 1 (44:14):
Don't you agree, though, Adler, Speedy Greg see fast food.
This is where I remember the first time that Jerry
Seinfeld made the comment that now the theaters are asking
us to clean up after ourselves.

Speaker 6 (44:27):
He said, whoa in a wait a minute, that's not
the deal.

Speaker 1 (44:29):
We made y'all overcharge us at the concession stand at
an alarming rate. And he goes and then when I finish,
you know, the ten dollars popcorn I just had, I
released the canister, it hits the ground and.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
I leave that.

Speaker 1 (44:41):
That was our deal.

Speaker 6 (44:42):
That was our well, fast food.

Speaker 1 (44:44):
Our deal with fast food is, look, we don't hold
y'all to the highest standard because you're good inexpensive food
that we can get on the run. Once fast food
became expensive food, now everybody's like, well, now look, I'm
not I'm not gonna you know, hit the bank account
for this. One of the reasons I came to you
I was you'all were cheap, So if you're not going
to be inexpensive, I'm not sure you're worth it. Yeah,

(45:06):
I mean for that kind of money, I'll get something better.
Do you remember the chicken sandwich wars that started there
and people were like wrapped around the corner and all that. Well,
Popeyes apparently they're calling it the wrap Wars because now
Popeyees came out and said they're going to offer free
chicken wraps this week for the rap Wars, and that

(45:27):
when McDonald's is bringing back to snack wrap now July
tenth through thirteenth, the restaurant is offering up five dollars
minimum purchase you get a wrap. Oh they said, They
said the pasture that we just saw in Illinois. That
was Mario said. Next week he's actually gonna come out
of an oven dress as a snack wrap welcome back. No,

(45:50):
I don't, I don't understand. Now, we had people that
the lines would go around the drive food out into
trash sheep to get to get a chicken sead mark
sheeople keeping, Hey, we better hurry and we can be
running out. I want you to know that every piece
of merchandise we have in our store there's only a
limited supply and they're going to be gone soon. There's
a documentary that's the kind of people just go, oh

(46:12):
my gosh, I guess I gotta have this. Yeah, there's
a documentary on the beanie Baby. Yeah, I want to
see that documentary. Yeah, okay, yeah, Well, speaking of documentaries,
I saw a good one. Have you seen the one
on Shack and Allen iverson buying Reebok have the Reebok
is back and their president and vice president uh and
you know they were they no, this is real. This

(46:35):
is they were the first two big sports stars to
endorse rebod coming out and into the NBA and and
uh and so then Adidas bought Reebok and then they
just were able to buy it back from Adidas and
they're relaunching the brand and everything and and and the
documentaries on Netflix and it it kind of shows them
going into Rebok for the first big meeting and them

(46:57):
trying to get endorsers to follow them and then trying
to rebrand Reebok and bring it back. It's good man.

Speaker 12 (47:04):
You remember the shacknosis rebox sneakers. I wanted some of
these so bad.

Speaker 1 (47:09):
And remember the pump pump was it looks like a zebra.

Speaker 4 (47:13):
All the pumps were the Yeah, if you had if
you had the pumps and you had a trampoline, you
were you were set. You might as well be a bazillionaire.

Speaker 1 (47:23):
I mean, you were as cool as again.

Speaker 4 (47:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (47:25):
So Reebok is now back because of them.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
Yeah yeah, pretty much. They they well Adidas. Whenever Adidas
Balls bought Rebok, they did away with the Reebok basketball shoe.
They kind of just let it fade out, and Reebok
was a solid two behind Nike. And then when in
two thousand and seven when Adidas bought Rebok and they
just kind of did away with rebox basketball shoes, the
just fell off. And now they're trying to bring it back.

(47:49):
And they're also trying to to to kind of get
into other sports like Bryce and d Chambeau is now
wearing I'm just saying, he's what you want to know,
You want to know show I got to know a
little better.

Speaker 6 (48:04):
Angel Reese. She she is ah the w n B
A and you love that too.

Speaker 1 (48:10):
She's she's a Rebok endorser and and Shaq says she'll
kick you with her. He knows her real well and
mentors her something, and I'm like, well that's job so much.
Says she kicked the strength and conditioning coach works guy.

Speaker 4 (48:22):
But seeing y'all, Shack is so big, y'all.

Speaker 6 (48:25):
When he's around other people, like normal sized people, it's weird.

Speaker 4 (48:28):
It's so weird.

Speaker 1 (48:29):
It's a giant.

Speaker 4 (48:30):
But he's hilarious.

Speaker 6 (51:25):
How many times do people sing the song?

Speaker 1 (51:27):
Maggie? Do you how many.

Speaker 20 (51:30):
More than I could count?

Speaker 4 (51:31):

Speaker 8 (51:33):
And I want to.

Speaker 1 (51:34):
Tell you something.

Speaker 6 (51:35):
I'm fighting everything. Am I being knocked to sing it
right now?

Speaker 21 (51:38):
But go ahead the thunderstrike while ago I.

Speaker 1 (51:43):
Say that again.

Speaker 6 (51:44):
I'm sure your phone went out for we were talking
the thunderclap, Yeah, go.

Speaker 8 (51:47):
Ahead, yes, Lass.

Speaker 22 (51:49):
A few years ago, you used to live in Pennsylvania
and I was sleeping one night and.

Speaker 12 (51:52):
A thunderclap was so loud I thought we were under artillery, uh,
warfare was trying to get us that I was trying.

Speaker 8 (51:58):
To get my daughter, my mom, the animal, everybody.

Speaker 17 (52:00):
In the car.

Speaker 20 (52:01):
I realized it was just thunder.

Speaker 21 (52:02):
It was that act.

Speaker 1 (52:03):
Well, if that umbarady been around here to charge you
with the ball boll Yeah, that's crazy. Now, thunderclapping that
you have a reaction different, uncontrollable. You know what it did?
It made wake up Maggie. There it is see there,
I know wake up, Maggie. I hear a thunderclapping outside
the door. He was just waiting. Minute starts, Well, I know,

(52:24):
I didn't think.

Speaker 4 (52:25):
I wasn't going to.

Speaker 1 (52:27):
I wasn't going to. Greg prompted it. Here we go,
Welcome to the Rick Burgers Show. Unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 4 (52:32):
Go ahead, morning fellas.

Speaker 23 (52:34):
This is Flip.

Speaker 1 (52:35):
Y'all. All right, clipster, watch it now.

Speaker 10 (52:39):
Hey, I just sent you a text. I helped raise
the young man who is the McDonald's snack rap guy.
His name is Donovan. There's Sean Rise.

Speaker 6 (52:53):
What do you mean, what do you mean snack rap guy?
What does that even mean?

Speaker 1 (52:56):
You dress up like a snack This guy.

Speaker 10 (52:58):
Right here he brought the McDonald's snack rap snack rap.

Speaker 1 (53:05):
Wow, that's a whole different product. That's not the promotion.
But you're talking about some fan fare bringing them a
snack rap guy who brought the the snack rap back
to McDonald's, is what he's saying. So their campaign is
this is a snack rap guy and he brings Okay,
and Philip knows him. Wait wait a minute, raised him

(53:26):
and we lost Flip. But does he mean this is
just a guy pretending to be the snack snack. He
started the culture is he?

Speaker 23 (53:33):
Is he?

Speaker 4 (53:34):
The part of the.

Speaker 1 (53:35):
Campaign is that is that what I have been bringing
it back? Because I got to be honest with you.
Inventing it wasn't that big a deal. Anybody could have
invented it. Y'all want to put a tortilla, right, and
I put some letters in it. You know it sounds good.
The angle, their their advertising. He's going to be the
he's going to be the person.

Speaker 10 (53:50):
No, no, no.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
His TikTok helped bring back the McDonald's. Okay, you want
a news package on it?

Speaker 12 (53:57):
No?

Speaker 4 (53:57):
No, okay, I do not.

Speaker 1 (53:59):
That's cool though, Yeah, we did a great job. Yes
he did. Flip. That's a way to raise a person.
That was that on TikTok made people start eating snack
raps again, well done what they see Flip, that's a whole.

Speaker 6 (54:16):
Quiet Rick birders show unscreen phone calls go ahead.

Speaker 20 (54:21):
I just wanted to confirm I would grow past McDonald's
in Rainsville.

Speaker 23 (54:25):
And the rumor is true.

Speaker 9 (54:27):
The rap is back.

Speaker 20 (54:28):
Don't know if I'll try one, because there are some
better than a snack wrap.

Speaker 1 (54:32):
Thank you, you're welcome. I just don't get this.

Speaker 4 (54:38):
Nothing wrong with it.

Speaker 1 (54:39):
It's it's it's an unassuming food item. It just doesn't
seem like it's some champion, now, you know. We continue.

Speaker 6 (54:47):
Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 4 (54:49):
Go ahead, Hey, good mar this trank.

Speaker 19 (54:53):

Speaker 17 (55:05):
Do you want me to tell you?

Speaker 10 (55:06):
Hello?

Speaker 1 (55:07):
You cut out of it?

Speaker 6 (55:07):
Said in you cut out mister who.

Speaker 19 (55:10):
Mister mister Deane's from the power company.

Speaker 1 (55:13):
Okay, yes, boyd where he's got to get better because
I knew he was dangerous by his Yeah. When when
those come in, you're ready, they're dangerous, you know? And
so uh yeah, yes he did.

Speaker 24 (55:31):
Uh.

Speaker 6 (55:31):
We continue, Rick Birders Show, unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 9 (55:34):
Go ahead, Yeah, y'all are talking about one reason. Y'all
like to go to fast food restaurants because it used
to be cheap, and it's not cheap anymore. So how
about it's not fast food anymore?

Speaker 23 (55:45):
True?

Speaker 9 (55:46):
I mean I can't go to a drive through, get
in line, and by the time they hand me my food,
it's more than ten minutes.

Speaker 21 (55:52):
Every single time they make.

Speaker 1 (55:54):
You pull up.

Speaker 6 (55:54):
Look and if you don't go to Chick fil a.

Speaker 1 (55:56):
You don't know what you're in store for. I mean
you could be there a while. Yep, you could be,
and again they're gonna make you pull up. Could you
pull up? Bring it out?

Speaker 9 (56:04):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (56:05):
And also, let's not hire anybody that looks annoyed by customers.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
Yeah, like they're mad that you showed up to order them.

Speaker 6 (56:13):
That's the face of your business. Probably have somebody that's
we continue. Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead, Hey.

Speaker 7 (56:21):
You guys are talking about McDonald's and I love McDonald's,
I really do.

Speaker 20 (56:25):
But Wendy's Breakfast that's where it's at.

Speaker 21 (56:28):
I don't know if you guys have had it.

Speaker 1 (56:29):
I have it, not a lot of No, we're usually here,
you know obviously, and people have not really brought that
and it's not open when we're coming in.

Speaker 6 (56:36):
So now I never have done it on Saturday.

Speaker 1 (56:38):
Have I will say this, You've read a lot of
Wendy's copy before for commercials and it sounds delicious.

Speaker 23 (56:45):
It really is.

Speaker 6 (56:46):
Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls, Go ahead about that.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
Yes, sir, I just wanted to let you know you
couldn't steal Ronald McDonald anymore. Couldn't steal him anymore?

Speaker 4 (56:57):
Why not?

Speaker 1 (56:59):
Because he has been part of McDonald's for a long
time now.

Speaker 6 (57:02):
Yeah, but there's a lot of McDonald's that still have
him in there.

Speaker 1 (57:05):
I've seen him sitting on the bench kind of Frey
did a fundraise. It's always been a few years. And
now I see a picture you and a cot and tie,
and that's right? Is that guy makes of that? The
same Ronald had that PBC pipe that time on the
television A year.

Speaker 4 (57:21):
On the road.

Speaker 1 (57:21):
Today, McDonald, you gotta let us up today, you gotta
stayn you gotta let us up. You remember that? Oh
I remember it. Sometimes I'm having a rough day, I'll
think on it. We wouldn't stop, We wouldn't stop. Oh yeah,
then Wendy's breakfast potatoes. We'll be back hanging there.

Speaker 11 (57:49):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (57:58):
Hey, Rick, here, We're on vacation this week, so enjoy
this best of hour on the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 7 (58:08):
They are the uncles your parents warned you about The
Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (58:17):
Thanks for being with.

Speaker 4 (58:18):
Us today, America.

Speaker 1 (58:20):
If you miss yesterday's Wednesday Bible Study Job twenty one,
that archive now available. Episode seven coming up this weekend
of Strange Encounters, a brand new episode this weekend. Okay,
so this is this is becoming seems to be more prominent.

(58:41):
Have you know, I haven't played golf or anything like that,
but it is is people are people fighting on the
golf courses. This seemed to be getting out more frequent.

Speaker 4 (58:50):
It seems like there is more of.

Speaker 1 (58:52):
It or am I just saying I would think any
skilled activity that allows you to drink alcohol while you
participate is going to lead to fighting. Yeah, but you
know that's always been around. I don't know what the
change is. I think it's a lot like just society
in general. People don't know how to add And there
used to be a sense of golf etiquette on the

(59:13):
course where people knew, hey, don't hit into people, even
if it's you know, slow play, Let's be cordial, let
somebody go through. If you don't everybody in front of
you and you hold people up. But then if you're
in a group and there's a group in front of
you and there's nowhere for them to go, it's pretty
common sense that hey, today's just.

Speaker 6 (59:28):
Going to be slow, you know. And and now but
now it seems like, you know, there's just no etiquette anymore,
and now people are getting shippy.

Speaker 1 (59:36):
And you know, smarting off each other, and it leads
to fights, like you're saying, really, well, they're saying this
one unfortunately, because you never know who you're gonna encounter, right, Okay,
you never know who you're going to encounter. Unfortunately for
one of the fellows here on this particular golf course disagreement,
former in an HL enforcer Nick Tarnaski.

Speaker 6 (01:00:00):
Uh and and and you see what he was an
enforcer in the n h L.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
A little rag daw slam into the pond right there
to fight the guy. The guy fights a lot of
careful who you pick with. Yeah, that's kind of my point.
I was like, you never know who're gonna run up
on that.

Speaker 12 (01:00:21):
He was an enforcer, like you guys said, in the
NHL for five seasons, played for three different teams. And
this guy in the Hawaiian shirt doesn't know that he's
talking to an n h L, a guy basically that
fought professionally, like literally, and he's gonna do the hockey
jersey grab at one point on him and you can
tell the guy has just done it before. So Hawaiian

(01:00:42):
Shirt is hammered with his buddy in the white Hawaii
Hawaiian shirts, as is his buddy in the two tight.

Speaker 6 (01:00:50):
Yeah, there's a lot of time. You're doing a good jobs.

Speaker 4 (01:00:54):
Let's go. Let's go.

Speaker 12 (01:00:55):
Hey, so so drunk Hawaiian guy. Look how long he's
trying to put his all I guess on the tea
and he can't even do it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:03):
This is ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (01:01:04):
Yeah, so you can tell he's been a problem.

Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
It looks like there's clubs laying on the tea box
all over the place, and what's going on. Really they're
holding he's mainly holding up play because he's too drunk to.

Speaker 4 (01:01:15):
His club. And now drunk uh Hawaiian shirt guy is
gonna say, oh, you want me to hurry up? You're
gonna cry about it. They're they're at Alberta. You're gonna
cry about it.

Speaker 6 (01:01:24):
He says, Canadian gonna cry. What Now we're taking our
shades off. Now, yes, it's about to go. Now here
comes the glove.

Speaker 12 (01:01:32):
He's kept his golf glove on your skin, on your
knuckles a little bit that he lands zero punches. He
is going to rush this former n h L player.

Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
Let's go, come on and he's talking so much, smacksple shirts,
smiling because he knows what's he.

Speaker 4 (01:01:51):
Rushes him and he gets thrown all he gets thrown
into the pond. He gets thrown. He is in the pud, Yeah,
he sure is. He is in the and you can
see the water ripple from where the guy he's coming out.
He's like, you want to go again? And so now
he's he does. He's why would you pick on a

(01:02:12):
man that big? This guy is huge. Enforcer is so big.

Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
You get the heck out of the way now, And
didn't look like there's anybody in front of us. He's
coming back from again and he's so.

Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
He's throwing him around like a child. Fun Now, yes,
I am enjoying this. And that's the end of Adler.

Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
You did a good job of explaining that even it's
just a this guy is so lit man, even sober,
he would have no chance. Didn't know the enforcer was
that big. He was a big man. If y'all have
not seen this ship, I beg you to go look
at it. It just just turned the volume down because
we couldn't play any of it. But this idiot is

(01:02:58):
so drunk and he's holding up play and he can't,
like y'all said, get his ball on the tee. And
instead of him apologizing, hey, I've had two months to drink,
I need to he's been drinking that courage and he
just starts screaming at this giant man who was an
enforcer in the NHL, and that big man just first

(01:03:20):
of all, he throws him in the pond. That should
have been the start number one.

Speaker 4 (01:03:23):
If you get thrown in a pond, you lost the fight.
You're out.

Speaker 1 (01:03:26):
And like you said, he threw him in a pine
like he was a child. Yes, And then he comes
up out of the pond and wants more. And the enforcer,
who knows how to grab your jersey and punch you
in the face, did that several times, and the guy
just kept coming back till finally he just threw him again.
How far it looks like he tossed him, almost like

(01:03:46):
he was shot putting you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And if
you listen to this, which again it's just got a
lot of language in it. Whenever the enforcer is hitting him,
he's going boom. I mean, he's making like eight.

Speaker 12 (01:03:58):
Actually says the word bang bang bang every time he
gets the guy in the face.

Speaker 4 (01:04:03):
He says the word. He's like another one bang? What
another one? Bang?

Speaker 12 (01:04:08):
He's saying bang while hitting the man in the face.
That's a whole new level of getting owned.

Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
And I also like that in the enforcers force them.
Here there's a couple of guys. They hadn't even gotten
out of the golf cart. They're just enjoying it. They're
just watching, you know, because they know what's comes.

Speaker 6 (01:04:21):
You see how far.

Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
I thought the guy was on ice.

Speaker 1 (01:04:28):
He so far. Listen, there's one moment where we get
to look face to face and the guy who can
beat up as he's in the air. Airfly to watch
this moment right here where you get a look at
it for just a minute when he throws him down,
this last stiff. This is keep getting up. Like you said, Speedy,
I don't think he can win this fight. Sober, you
could watch watch guy.

Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
He is airborne. He is air like he's laying on
a couch.

Speaker 1 (01:04:55):
Yes, he is airborn, y'all. The only on a golf
course I've seen better was Bob Barker and Happy Gilmour.

Speaker 8 (01:05:03):
Yes, it.

Speaker 4 (01:05:07):
Was about as one sided.

Speaker 1 (01:05:09):
Oh Greg, you gotta you gotta make you watch that
in the break. I'm going to let me tell you,
you come across the wrong man and he took that
man in the in the Hawaiian shirt and he tossed him.
I mean like he's just trying to get rid of
a bag of trash or something. And watch the video
of himself.

Speaker 4 (01:05:29):
You know what, I think, golf course I need.

Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
I think golf courses need to hire enforcers, like if
somebody's being a jerk or hold things up. All of
a sudden, like a little I don't know, Uh, the
earth opens up on the tea box and then a
forcer comes standing up and he just whoops everybody's butt
and then goes away.

Speaker 4 (01:05:49):
I've heard.

Speaker 12 (01:05:50):
Okay, so we've seen it feels like we're seeing more
golf fights and people are talking about how the game
is getting more and more popular, and you got people
that are new to the game and they're not they
can't handle their booze and they don't know the etiquette
of the game. You talked about hitting into other people,
you know, and all that.

Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
And slow play.

Speaker 6 (01:06:07):
I mean, if if you if you are just if
you're just having a good time and you just want
to go play golf, but you're extremely slow and there's
just and there's nobody in front of you, and you're
holding up the whole golf course.

Speaker 4 (01:06:20):
Just let somebody play through and move on. Nothing wrong
with that.

Speaker 6 (01:06:23):
But if somebody comes up to you because of that
and then you have a you have a smart alec response, and.

Speaker 1 (01:06:28):
Then that's what happens. Well, you also don't forget at
the at the root of this again, this is another
public service announcement about getting drunk. Yes, what this idiot
gets you beat us way in over his head. He
can't handle his alcohol and and he's he's acting like
an idiot. Uh, he's it's not just a normal we
we're new to the game. And let us play through.
I got to defend what I'm doing. I gotta talk

(01:06:50):
a bunch of smack and and and and it cost him.
He got beat up real bad. He had no chance
against this giant man. And but Greg, like you said
back in back in the day, here's what would have
happened if we had lived in this time. Okay, my
friends would gather me together, they would have snacks, they
would have that but all set up, and I would

(01:07:11):
have to sit down and then play it for me.
And they would go play by play, like we just
did make me watch it and give me such a
hard time. Now right here, I don't know what you're thinking.
The biggest reaction would come from when he throws you
physically and you're flying horizontal to the ground like a rocket. Yeah, yeah,
that's it. Scrown men. He picked up and through And

(01:07:31):
now that guy wasn't huge.

Speaker 13 (01:07:32):
I know.

Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
There was the last time the Wilburn boys and we
had a Wilburn foursome of golf and people on the
interstate I can't imagine. And we had nowhere to go.
I mean, in other words, the whole course was backed up.
It was just a slow day. It was pretty everybody
was out, and this group behind us just kept hitting
into us and there was nowhere. It's not like, hey,
you can't see him. I mean they were We obviously

(01:07:55):
didn't care. They didn't care, and and uh, my boys
started getting the golf balls and throwing them into the
woods and and then we'd turn around and watch them
come to the like and they would look at being
the fairway going.

Speaker 4 (01:08:04):
I thought it went right here. I don't know where
it went.

Speaker 1 (01:08:06):
And that my boy, they had chunked it the water,
the woods constantly kept hitting into us.

Speaker 4 (01:08:11):
Can we hear the guy say bang? Really quick? I
found out, Yeah, there's no cussing.

Speaker 12 (01:08:14):
I don't think all right, he's gonna call his shots
by punching the dude in his face while saying.

Speaker 1 (01:08:18):
Bang on man, That is funny.

Speaker 4 (01:08:26):
I've never seen anybody call their shots in a yeah,
a big fist too.

Speaker 12 (01:08:33):
If the guy is missing teeth and he doesn't seem
to care, don't fight with him.

Speaker 1 (01:08:38):
Yeah, so good by the drum cat that coming. I'm
sorry should stayed in the pond.

Speaker 11 (01:08:49):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
Hey, Rick here, We're on vacation this week, so enjoy
this best of hour on The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 11 (01:09:04):

Thank you for being with us on this edition of
The Rick Burgess Show. The gang all here today, Speedy,
Greg and Handler and we just it's people are saying
we need the guy.

Speaker 6 (01:09:32):
So today we've already got to doing a little bit better.

Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
We need to put into the inst replay and I'll
tell you Adler that little that little piece clip you found,
the little bang bang to the face. People say that
that needs to go into the instror, replace bang bang.
Can you just imagine Greg all of us say that
happened to Idler on golf?

Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
Yeah, why is it going to be me?

Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
I would just.

Speaker 4 (01:09:57):
I don't even golfy y'all are golf more than I have.
Rick and Greg up golf more than I have. Yes, Like,
you get him on the ground though, you got him?

Speaker 8 (01:10:05):
Oh yeah, so you naked choke him?

Speaker 1 (01:10:07):
No, it's uh, you know, it's it's you know you
there's there's no worse feeling than drinking that courage and
get after he doesn't watch that video? Yeah yeah, yeah,
you know you had that good night look at that moment.
And I've had some too when you watch video and
you're like, oh boy, do you think he watched it
himself getting thrown around? He may never drink again. I

(01:10:29):
love how big and bad he was before it happened, right, Yeah,
So is is it one of those things like I
don't know his situation, Hawaiian shirt guy does he does
he wake up with like his friends sitting around the
bed going do you recall what happened? I mean, does

(01:10:50):
he get one of those hey, did you get it
over your head? Little bit?

Speaker 23 (01:10:54):
Like Rick?

Speaker 6 (01:10:55):
Like he comes out in the den, he's got like
a black eyes, all beat up and he's like, what happened?

Speaker 1 (01:10:59):
So awful? And you know what, you don't remember?

Speaker 9 (01:11:01):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
You love to be a person saying you might recall
that you'd had a little too much drink on the
course I did. Well, let me tell you what you did.
We were playing a little slow because you couldn't get
the ball on the tea because you were hammered, and
you decided to trash talk a former n h L
enforcer and he grabbed your shirt like a jersey and
beat you to a pulp and threw you in the pond. Okay,

(01:11:23):
and then.

Speaker 4 (01:11:25):
Out of the mank.

Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
You know the last throw that where he was their
born and it looked like he was sleeping in his bed,
but he was airborn.

Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
Even after that throw, being drunk, he knew that's it.
He even went to his car.

Speaker 1 (01:11:38):
Yeah, watching him right here, So he gets still in,
he's still in and he's thrown, he's still in and
all right, so after this watching me gets up, he
doesn't even try to come.

Speaker 4 (01:11:50):
Back for more.

Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
And he's like, okay, this I'm out say I'm good,
I'm good. Look, wait a minute, he's still talked.

Speaker 6 (01:12:02):
Just a little bit of cancer almost down because it
hits the ground and the pants one's.

Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
Got pulled off.

Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
Okay, I don't play golf, and add Or plays even
less than Gregg and me. He's made clear what happens here?
Do they leave? They better?

Speaker 6 (01:12:15):
I mean is that it's soaking wet.

Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
I'll tell you that there's two clubs on the tea box,
and there's a ball that's not on the tee but
sitting beside the tee because he couldn't get on there.
He just put do you leave them?

Speaker 4 (01:12:28):
Do you go get them?

Speaker 1 (01:12:29):
So that his friend looks like he's had a little
to drink too, he's not exactly what The friend doesn't
look overly steady.

Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
So we have we have this guy with the enforcer.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
We have this guy, this guy, and there's another one here.

Speaker 4 (01:12:47):
They don't seem concerned.

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
At all, are they with the enforcer?

Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
All of them?

Speaker 9 (01:12:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:12:51):
If you notice, Purple Shirt has been grinning the entire
he's having.

Speaker 1 (01:12:54):
He's had time his life. He doesn't know he's having
the time of his life. This guy does not know
who he's dealing with. I remember that it was a
brief run where I got to actually hang out with
Steve Kujosh and Gary Bradshaw, and I've never been so happy.
But normally, if you've got a couple of guys against one,
your buddies normally are gonna get out and like have
a little bit of present. They don't even really move.

Speaker 4 (01:13:17):
They're like, no, there is no concern at all for them.

Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
Well what do you what do you got the enforcer
with you?

Speaker 4 (01:13:22):
What are you worried about? The purple shirt has been
grinning the whole time I've been watching him.

Speaker 1 (01:13:27):
I will go as far as to say, these friends
of the Enforcers, they've seen this before. This, this is
not the first time. This is happy.

Speaker 6 (01:13:35):
They're gonna somebody's messing with enforcer again.

Speaker 12 (01:13:38):
You know, I was reading about this guy's NHO career.
In his five seasons, he played for three different teams.

Speaker 4 (01:13:45):
Like I mentioned, his.

Speaker 12 (01:13:47):
Playing time is almost equal to his penalty time. The
guy literally was there to literally fight. Yes, can we
hear him say bang one more time?

Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
We can't get another that.

Speaker 17 (01:14:00):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
Is that the friend.

Speaker 6 (01:14:03):
Come on, man, come on, man, come on man.

Speaker 1 (01:14:08):
Well he threw him down there, his head slammed on
the ground.

Speaker 4 (01:14:10):
Real good.

Speaker 1 (01:14:12):
Yeah, I kind of wish that was you. Yeah.

Speaker 12 (01:14:14):
Second, can you imagine what the dude's thoughts were when
he He's like, oh no, this guy's punching me.

Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
But you're also thinking, oh no, he's saying bang. Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:14:24):
That's the worst. When a guy is doing his own
comic strip sound effects. I mean, that's what you got problems.

Speaker 4 (01:14:31):
It's like a Batman, old school Batman shows.

Speaker 1 (01:14:35):
It's like the time I never tied up with Diamond
Dallas page right. That was that was That was a prank.
That was ugly. Wow. Luckily existence humor. Wow, what a headlock.

Speaker 4 (01:14:45):
He's got a picture. I don't even have a master.

Speaker 1 (01:14:47):
Page of it. Oh this is great. That the technicology
that is incredible.

Speaker 8 (01:14:55):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (01:14:57):
So so yeah, that's you never know. I saw something
in traffic. You know, you hear all these you know,
road rage fights and stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:15:06):
Back to this.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
You never know who you're dealing with. You gotta be careful,
you know. And it was it was a three lane
and we had left lane going extremely slow. A bunch
of traffic backed up middle lane doing his own little thing,
and far right lane was ahead of middle lane. So
somebody got out of line in traffic on the left

(01:15:27):
side and went all the way over to the right
because they're panicking now and they're going to try to
cut off middle lane and get out in front of
left lane.

Speaker 6 (01:15:34):
Well, middle lane speeds up. Well the guy comes over. Anyway,
I'm talking about door to door. I thought there's about
to be a major crash. For about two miles they
went at it. I mean I backed off. I thought
we're about to see a bunch of dust and a
bad way.

Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
And I mean you could tell there were Yeah, there was,
there was arms coming out the windows and everything. But
you never know what somebody is going to do. And
I understand to where this studio is. On the interstate
yesterday there was a gunfight. I mean there was a
road rage. The interstate was shut down. Yeah, there was
two people that pulled out guns because of this. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
It was at four point thirty yesterday shot at each other.
I sixty five and Alabaster.

Speaker 1 (01:16:15):
Oh I saw that on the way home.

Speaker 12 (01:16:16):
Yeah, they pulled over and they were both shot in
their lower extremities.

Speaker 4 (01:16:20):
Taken to the hospital.

Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
You just don't know who you're dealing with, what they're
carrying or anything. Now what I saw wasn't this, but
I just that was later that say, the same day.

Speaker 4 (01:16:27):
But I thought we're.

Speaker 1 (01:16:29):
About to have a problem. Do you think, somebody said,
the guy probably waits up in the next morning. So
what was my score? Yeah?

Speaker 12 (01:16:34):
Right?

Speaker 15 (01:16:36):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
You remember another example I got? Were runn out of time? Now,
oh Marty, Oh, yeah for that story, show him a
thing or two? Yeah, it was Rich Wingo has a
great story about like I'll just say it was a
guy named Marty who went on to a very illustrious
NFL career, probably when the meanest humans on the planet.
Uh And he decided that he would have words with

(01:16:58):
an assistant coach at Maama, who unfortunately was a boxing
champion in the Marines. Uh And and the guy said,
all right, Marty, I'll take you in here with you,
just you and me in here. We'll go one on
one and I'll show you a thing or two. Of course,
Marty thought he would take the old man and his
teammates will work looking to a little peep hole because
they didn't want you buy us.

Speaker 25 (01:17:19):
Buddy looked through because we all couldn't see it. At
the same time, he goes, how's it going. He goes, oh, Marty,
old man guy and that old marine whipped him like
he mean, like he was an ugly dog.

Speaker 1 (01:17:36):
Marty, Oh, Marty.

Speaker 11 (01:17:39):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 4 (01:17:44):

Everybody getting a long nice of course, that's before we

Somebody going to the wheel of bundles, bits and bucks,
and maybe they can make something happen. Hey, now look
you first mistake he is thinking you can have some,
So nobody start thinking that. But we'll see what happens
and we'll meet them. Did them did they bring any goodies?

(01:18:54):
I mean that's not part of it. Oh yeah we
got We got donuts and all kinds of stuff in there,
so we're good.

Speaker 6 (01:18:59):
Butterball, Greg's already been offensive.

Speaker 1 (01:19:01):
I got my own fritter. No need for that, hete
he did.

Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
He had his own fritter in a separate bag.

Speaker 9 (01:19:07):
Out of it.

Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
We'd like to think, stay out of it. We also
like to thank the box seats for doing their part
to continue research for type two diabetes.

Speaker 4 (01:19:15):
Yes, yes, thank y'all so much so.

Speaker 6 (01:19:19):
In the test subject, I noticed he didn't say, hey man,
there's a fritter in here, y'all if y'all want, no,
he started picking at it.

Speaker 1 (01:19:25):
Yeah, ye put in his office. This is the guy.
Yeah this this Greg not a big not big on sharing.

Speaker 23 (01:19:31):
He's not.

Speaker 6 (01:19:31):
I think it's because of you, Rick, No, no, no, no,
A lot of what like now we and we love
Greg for what he's like, but it's it's from you.

Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
I terrorized him as your little brother. But I also
remember he had this issue when we were younger, because
we have a cousin who would come see us sometimes
like once a year during the summer or whatever. Sitting
there this is uh. And I remember I remember when
he would go over to our mother and he would say,
ain't caw ain't canew Greg? Greg not sharing one another? Yeah, yeah, yeah,

(01:20:03):
I thought her. I wasn't sharing with one another's not
sharing one another.

Speaker 6 (01:20:09):
So you're not good on sharing? Just a pens not
big on sharing.

Speaker 1 (01:20:13):
He's never been.

Speaker 6 (01:20:14):
He's just never been big on it.

Speaker 9 (01:20:15):
Is it?

Speaker 6 (01:20:15):
Because you knew what he would do if you shared.
He would break it or he would.

Speaker 1 (01:20:18):
Mess it up. If I had something, I just wouldn't
letting it go. I wouldn't get it back. Well, what
I would do to aggravate him if I ever got
him to share with let me, you know, thattle thing,
let me just look at it and then give it.
Or my favorite, if you had, like if you had
a marathon bar at Taylor's grocery and he was happy,
I said, don't let me just have a bite of it.
He could, I'd buy like half of it. Yeah, that's awful,
that's horrid, but no wonder he didn't want to share

(01:20:39):
his frit or with you. Getting a fight right on
the side of Hall Drive. That's right, bicycles, lay him
down in the ditch, go at it, and here we are.

Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
So he'd give you that.

Speaker 1 (01:20:48):
He just dog dogs barking. Yeah, just upset the dogs
or something.

Speaker 4 (01:20:54):
He'd give you that. He just let me, just let
me hold it, let me just look. And you're bigger
and taller.

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
So well listen, if you if you watched on if
you watching our YouTube channel, the Burgess Bass Battle on
Tales from the Camp House, I think it's like you
clearly cheat episode four maybe, and you hear me give
a speech about how Greg needs just look over and
say thank you because because I was rough on him,

(01:21:21):
but I made him, I made him tough, I made
him strong. And you know I am like the guy
in the song a boy named Sue. I just appreciate you.
Just say thank you because I got you ready.

Speaker 8 (01:21:33):
For the world.

Speaker 1 (01:21:35):
I don't know what i'd done. Thank you, Rick, You're welcome.
How about how about a little Trump update here? So
here's Trump, Uh, this is ah, there's a story goes
along with this dude. Trump reveals Millennia's key role and

(01:21:56):
dealing with Putin on Ukraine War. Uh, there's a quote, Yeah,
there's a quote here where he says Milania keeps basically
keeping him in the real world on what Putin's actually doing.
So here he is commenting on his wife keeping him
accountable when dealing with Putin.

Speaker 13 (01:22:14):
There's times I get home, I'd say, first, Lady, I
had the most wonderful talk with Vladimir. I think we're finished,
and then I'll turn onto television or she'll say to
me one time, Wow, that's strange because he just bombed
the nursing home.

Speaker 4 (01:22:29):
He said, what.

Speaker 13 (01:22:32):
So so.

Speaker 12 (01:22:39):
Milania, So I said, Lady, I said, that's him kind
of talking about why he has Initially it was defensive
weapons only to Ukraine and that was like last week,
and he has just this past week sent offensive missile
long range missiles to Ukraine via Needo.

Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
Trump also says his economic policy, greg this is the
stuff you love right here. It's keeping people from getting divorced.

Speaker 13 (01:23:07):
Here we go so hard, and the alternative is one
of two things. You can either get all these things
and make the economy strong, or you're gonna literally have
perhaps a depression, where you people so rich, so beautiful,
so nice to look at. We'll be totally busted. And
let's see how long your wife stays with you.

Speaker 1 (01:23:29):
You're beautiful.

Speaker 13 (01:23:30):
She'll stay with you for about three weeks and says, say, darling,
I can't.

Speaker 4 (01:23:34):
Take it anymore.

Speaker 13 (01:23:35):
I can't take it anymore, Darling, I'm leaving you.

Speaker 4 (01:23:39):
I said to one guy.

Speaker 13 (01:23:40):
He's a very very unattractive man, but he's he's smart,
and he's rich. And I said, you better hope we
get this thing past because.

Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
Your wife will be gone within about two minutes.

Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
He said, you're right.

Speaker 1 (01:23:56):
Policies for people lose their wealth, um to hang on
that lot o ways he's staying around you again, that's
real talk.

Speaker 5 (01:24:05):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:24:06):
Donald Trump says that he is looking at a bill
that would eliminate all capital gains tax on home sales.

Speaker 10 (01:24:15):
Don't think about this new.

Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
Bill that's going to basically eliminate no capital gains tax
on home sales to build free up the money people
who own the house for a long time can't afford
to pay the capital gain.

Speaker 13 (01:24:27):
Yeah, well, we're looking at that and it's gonna be
it could be a very big positive.

Speaker 1 (01:24:32):
I don't think for you because you make so much money.

Speaker 13 (01:24:34):
Doesn't But I think I think it's going to be
a great, you know, a great incentive for a lot
of people that that really need money.

Speaker 1 (01:24:41):
Between that and Jerome Powell stepping down, that could really
boost on sales. Well, I think if your own power
stepped down, it would be a great thing.

Speaker 21 (01:24:49):
I don't know that he's going to, but.

Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
Uh he should nice, So there we go.

Speaker 1 (01:24:54):
That's something he's considering. Uh it hasn't happened, don't hear that,
But he's he's considered eliminating capital gains tax on home sales.
So so that would be that would certainly help the
housing market quite a bit. Uh, and so we'll see,
uh looking down at five. A couple of stories to
day involving Vice President JD. Vance And one is it

(01:25:17):
was dealing with now I know that what you have
here it is a zoo right now?

Speaker 6 (01:25:21):
Or is it still Disney this Disney I wrote that, Okay, so.

Speaker 1 (01:25:24):
It's Disney World about people giving him a hard time
at Disney World.

Speaker 9 (01:25:28):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:25:28):
And one of them is because he was running after
his kid, yes, at the zoo. So so this is
a pretty quick clip.

Speaker 4 (01:25:34):
And everybody's making fun of his run. Jd Vance's run.

Speaker 12 (01:25:37):
But if anybody that has had kids has done this
run before, and that's that my kids are in trouble.
Run look at him looking and say speed walking, run good, good,
good good gooley.

Speaker 6 (01:25:47):
Yeah, it's not a dead sprint. You're just trying to
catch up with them. Yes, you know it is kind
of run, Greg, I knew you were going to say.

Speaker 1 (01:25:53):
I knew that's what you were going to say. I mean,
it's like my mind. He's also getting around people that
are in the past, so he can't and he runs goofy.
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (01:26:04):
He's a parent. His kid's about to eat a rock
or something. I can tell him right through it.

Speaker 5 (01:26:08):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
No, they actually looked over there and said this kid
was playing with a kid that and it was clear
that the parents were Democrats.

Speaker 4 (01:26:14):
Oh okay, he's like, break that up.

Speaker 1 (01:26:17):
It's kind of far from well it's it's it's a
play area.

Speaker 4 (01:26:21):
He was at Disney World.

Speaker 1 (01:26:23):
Okay, When to get booed? When to get booed? That
was the headline. Yeah, I saw that, But is that
them are people making fun of this run and now
they're exaggerating, sating he got booed it Disney work. I
don't think nobody boot is run.

Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
I didn't know about the bullying there was.

Speaker 1 (01:26:36):
There was a headline that said he got booted, didn't
well there? Whichever, Yeah, the governor knew. Some sent out
a I guess a message on X that, hey, hope
you enjoyed your time with your family when others are
being ripped from there's that kind of stuff, and jd
Vance responded with you we had, we had a great time.

(01:26:57):
Thank you. H But they were critical of him going
there in California, so they're but they're always trying to
find something. Well, if he's in California a disney Land,
then yeah he was.

Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
Yeah he goes.

Speaker 1 (01:27:14):
But this this deal that the reason why some families
have been broke up is because some people made real
bad decisions about their families by trying to come through
this border illegally, and they kind of put their own
selves in that peril.

about Jelly Roll. He started, Uh he was in the
ring a couple of weeks ago, and uh Goldberg he's
gonna defend his title and go back for one more
time and John Cena. So I'm gonna get off and
see what y'all think about that guy.

Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
Yeah, I don't don't follow it. I know there's a
big Jelly Row wrestling. Let's not put Jelly Row in
the ring. Jelly Jelly Row needs to be getting ready
for his five K run.

Speaker 4 (01:30:52):
He just got kicked in the face.

Speaker 1 (01:30:53):
I gotta I gotta text be in the ring. I
got a text from Hoby he said, we live. I've
seen it all. Jelly rolls the ring I'm like, good
night and uh, and I think the Was it raw
that was at the b j c C last night
in Birmingham last night? Yeah, I believe it was. I
know Garnett and his son say that's their new thing now.

(01:31:15):
It really and they all even bought belts that they
carry around with.

Speaker 4 (01:31:18):
So that's fantastic what he says.

Speaker 6 (01:31:21):
They immerc yourself in the culture and just have a blast.

Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
Yeah, that's fine.

Speaker 6 (01:31:25):
Hobie took his to his two boys last night. They
sent me, do we need just where Jenning Roe was?

Speaker 14 (01:31:29):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:31:30):
I think this was this.

Speaker 1 (01:31:31):
I think it was Saturday night.

Speaker 4 (01:31:32):
I can't remember, but it was.

Speaker 1 (01:31:34):
It was a few days ago or when I was
in I liked him. I saw an article the other
day and again I just remember parts of it. I
think he's got a son that's being recruited to play ball,
and if he doesn't, then he's gonna be ar wrestled.
Was it Goldberg?

Speaker 6 (01:31:51):
I might have this wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:31:53):
Was it Goldberg and the Rock.

Speaker 1 (01:31:54):
Who were roommates at Miami? No, Goldberg played Georgia and George,
So I had it wrong?

Speaker 4 (01:31:58):
Had it wrong?

Speaker 1 (01:31:59):
Who was sounded better? It's a good story, is Rock.
It's just not true. I don't know. He was at
Miami Wrestling.

Speaker 4 (01:32:04):
Is just something that as a kid I loved by
I just as a kid, I loved it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:09):
But I'm just interesting. Fell off the friend of mine.
That's going he said. He asked a major fan. He said,
what percentage of the arena do you think still believes
that it's real? And the guy said not about ten percent.
He said, everybody, everybody knows this is a center and
we're fine. Hello Rick Berger's show. Unscreen phone calls, go ahead.

Speaker 10 (01:32:29):
Good morning, Rick. How are y'all?

Speaker 4 (01:32:30):
We're good?

Speaker 8 (01:32:32):
Talking about the split king, it's usually the beds that.

Speaker 10 (01:32:37):
That can go up or down, like the sleep number bed.

Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
Oh yeah, okay, they have their has their own.

Speaker 4 (01:32:43):
Side, got it.

Speaker 1 (01:32:45):
Oh yeah, there it is? Yeahs Oh okay, okay. Actually
I've never used one of those because that little that
thing in the middle I'm following.

Speaker 6 (01:32:53):
It's like we got two twin beds pushed together. I
don't think i'd like that.

Speaker 4 (01:32:57):
Yeah, but it's bigger than two twins. You gotta go
bigger than twins.

Speaker 6 (01:32:59):
Yeah, But I mean, but is there is there a
Is there a chasm in the middle.

Speaker 4 (01:33:03):
There's no there's no there is no seam, but you're
at the ends. It is split a little bit like
there you get in.

Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Other words, you don't know.

Speaker 12 (01:33:13):
But everybody has enough room on their own one. Everybody
has another room on their owner falling. It was in
Airbnb one time. It was big enough for as long
as you don't have to spin in place, that's the
thing for me.

Speaker 4 (01:33:25):
Slip sleeping, did you you don't have to when you flipped.

Speaker 12 (01:33:28):
To one side or the other, because I remember being
a kid and sleeping in a twin bed and you
have to spin in the.

Speaker 4 (01:33:34):
Same place underneath. You see what I'm saying. But once
your bed gets bigger, you can flop one way.

Speaker 6 (01:33:38):
When you first threw that out there, I was almost
about to say, well, that's none of our yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:33:42):
Right, I mean, hey, whatever happened to the waterbed? Anybody
think I had one?

Speaker 6 (01:33:50):
Get lost in it?

Speaker 1 (01:33:51):
Very comfortable to me. You know you'd get in it
was just never mind. I'm sorry I brought it up.
Just let it go bad for you back by the
last I've never had one, don't want one now, getting
out of one, like somebody helped me. Can you get
them where they were? Waveless? Easy to make what just

(01:34:15):
let's move on.

Speaker 6 (01:34:16):
I'm just sitting here silently praying about everything I'm about
to say next. So what if you get in the
middle ones what I'm saying, you get lost in him
for sure?

Speaker 1 (01:34:22):
Tropical storm. Rick Burgess show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.

Speaker 19 (01:34:27):
Hey, good morning fellas. Hey I got a comment, a
quick question. My comment is about the Democratic Party, if
I ain't mistaken, if history serves me right, back in
eighteen hundreds, they bout toward this country apart with the
Civil War over slavery, and the sixties they tried to
do it again over segregation, and now they're trying to

(01:34:50):
do it over uh.

Speaker 1 (01:34:53):
Immigration. Immigration. Yes, I'm sorry, my spear isra was looking
in the corner.

Speaker 19 (01:35:03):
My question is is when is the Democrat Party going
to be deemed a a uh terrorist group and outlaw?
Because when these when needs never uh deuucrats take that
oath of defending the Constitution against foreign and domestic terrorists.

(01:35:24):
Isn't that domestic terrorism?

Speaker 1 (01:35:26):
Yeah? Yeah, that's never gonna fly. I mean, that's a
nice little fantasy thought. And you're using it to be
using hyperbole to make a point, and I understand that,
but that's never ever going to happen.

Speaker 9 (01:35:36):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:35:36):
The way the Democrats will adjust is if they if
they continue to lose elections and and then at some
at some point they're like, Okay, well, I guess we're
misreading you know the Uh. We we put our finger
in there, and we thought the wind was one one way,
but it's really not. And they'll adapt. They'll they'll adapt
and find what Now. The problem is that when they adapt,
it will only be to get elected. Once you put

(01:35:58):
them in power, then they'll govern with the same things
you're concerned about. But they'll they'll start trying to if
they have any sense, I mean, because they this this
going radically to the left is just it's it's not
resonating with the majority of Americans. It resonates with some
loud ones, but not the majority. And I think that's

(01:36:19):
the only way you will see them adjust is if
they just keep losing elections.

Speaker 4 (01:36:22):
Yet but they try to pretend like that is the majority.

Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
Of course, Yeah, but that's delusional.

Speaker 6 (01:36:27):
If you don't win elections, you got to eventually realize
you're wrong.

Speaker 11 (01:36:30):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:36:39):
You're enjoying a best of hour on The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 11 (01:36:49):

Speaker 6 (01:36:58):

Speaker 1 (01:37:04):

a competitive bone in their bodies. But all that's about
to change, because we're about to have the Burgess Ball Battle.
The winner going to the wheel of bundles, bits and bucks.
Will it produce cash today, a nice prize or we'll
have to do a bit on command. Speedy has taken

You did win, she almost did win that big money

Speaker 4 (01:46:48):
I'm sure she would have shared it way.

Speaker 1 (01:46:50):

Speaker 12 (01:46:52):
Now question question, since y'all are triplets still share a
room or how does that work?

Speaker 4 (01:46:57):

Speaker 4 (01:53:51):
So there they are.

Speaker 1 (01:53:51):
I know TV ads pounds. They say like weight, but
is it that inches?

Speaker 27 (01:53:56):
It does?

Speaker 4 (01:53:58):
So I look fatty short? No, No, it's great.

Speaker 1 (01:54:02):
Don't you be so hard on yourself working in broadcasting.
You you don't let it bother you that an eleven
year old little girl thinks you're you're.

Speaker 4 (01:54:10):
Small only eleven, She is only eleven. I think she's
taller than me. I'm not joking around. Let's see that hurts,
Let's see it don't come out. Let's see I don't care.
I have no shame. I'm dead inside anyway. Who cares?
Taylor Taylor, I mean not Taylor.

Speaker 6 (01:54:27):
Yeah, Taylor, go to the logo let's see who's tall
all right, Taylor.

Speaker 4 (01:54:34):
So close?

Speaker 1 (01:54:35):
I think it's okay.

Speaker 21 (01:54:37):
There you go.

Speaker 6 (01:54:38):
See that was a winder. Yeah, that was a win.

Speaker 1 (01:54:42):
Yeah. By the way, that for some reason, that's owning.

Speaker 4 (01:54:45):
Bright close one close, one hair.

Speaker 1 (01:54:55):
You know what you were You were taller than an
eleven year old girl. Yeah, and you can if that
you are to walk a little taller today after that,
and I.

Speaker 6 (01:55:03):
Can beat her up to well, I think that sounded
mean that.

Speaker 1 (01:55:11):
Now you now you've angered people. You ain't completely the
other way crime, But what did you say that when
people are in pain? What happens?

Speaker 4 (01:55:19):
People hurt people, guys, people, people. Sorry, there's maybe some
mean girls at Taylor School. It seems you are really injured.

Speaker 1 (01:55:32):
You don't. This is not it's just they just it's
just real. It's real. You are a lot smaller than
they think. Right, that's just fine. Whatever, I'm balder than something,
you know, it's part of our business. It's just part
of our business.

Speaker 4 (01:55:44):
People older than some think that's just bald. You can't
just be bald.

Speaker 1 (01:55:48):
Back before there was any sort of video option, people
always say you don't look the way you sound and things.

Speaker 6 (01:55:52):
That's all real comm Now you know you're a little
smaller than she expected.

Speaker 4 (01:55:57):
That's fine.

Speaker 1 (01:55:58):
That's fine, small bearded man, that's fine.

Speaker 4 (01:56:01):
So top of the hour. And you're funny though, thanks funny.

Speaker 8 (01:56:07):
I feel.

Speaker 10 (01:56:10):
No I do.

Speaker 4 (01:56:10):
I was very glad I thought she was sorry to me.
I'll count that as a w You know, guys, you
gotta get the winds where you can get them.

Speaker 1 (01:56:17):
Yes, you go, We'll be right back.

Speaker 11 (01:56:21):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:56:26):

Speaker 17 (01:56:37):
You say.

Speaker 4 (01:56:43):
You gotta find.

Speaker 11 (01:56:48):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world.

Speaker 1 (01:56:52):
The Rick Burchish flu America. Thanks for being with us
a brand new hour.

Speaker 4 (01:56:57):
Speedy Greg Handler all here today.

Speaker 1 (01:57:00):
The Fox seats are full, and there they are. They
come from all over. Some bring in goodies, some did not.

Speaker 6 (01:57:09):
That's all right, I mean, there's no That's how I
say this every time.

Speaker 1 (01:57:12):
That is not part of it. If you do not
have to bring anything, your presence is all we need,
even though we grab the free stuff as soon as
those people came in. Now, thank you for being here today,
we'll meet all of you that want to be recognized.
Some do not, so we'll have the big boy Mike
available later on in the Burgess ball battle still to come,

(01:57:35):
finishing just and then we'll move into something quickly. I
don't want to be labor the point, but we do
have a story today speaking of a fake world and
all the stuff going on with deportations in the border.
Mexican woman in US illegally now has been charged with
faking her own Ice kidnapping. She pretended to be kidnapped

(01:57:55):
by Ice.

Speaker 6 (01:57:56):
It did not happen. She made all this up. She
lives in South Los Angeles.

Speaker 1 (01:58:02):
She's been charged with conspiracy and making false statements to
federal officers. Her motive was to breed sympathy, so that
she was hoping that that would solicit donations. Uh and
she could milk people by pretending that she was just
grabbed and kidnapped by Ice and treated terribly.

Speaker 6 (01:58:24):
Come to find out, it was a hope is she
here legally or not? She's illegal And they found her shopping.

Speaker 1 (01:58:30):
That's how they ended up finding her. She was in
such distress she was actually out shopping. But remember so
I mean, look We're living in a time where people
fake cancer, fake their fund me making, fake their kids
being sick. I mean, listen, are we all of every
goalfund me? Then I'm noticed, we'll go to go fund

(01:58:51):
me for things that I think don't really warrant a
go fund me. Okay, you know it's that's supposed to
be for really dire situations. One one time I got
one to buy a guitar. That's what I'm talking about.
That's an advantage guitar. He's always wanted and he wanted
people to. I don't know how it went worked out
for him. They were probably people willing to do it.

(01:59:12):
And if that if they do, then that's, you know,
more power to you.

Speaker 4 (01:59:16):
Here we go to the email.

Speaker 19 (01:59:21):
Neighbors.

Speaker 1 (01:59:25):
Awkward situations dominating the emails these days thanks to you,
speedy so uh after hearing the email of the guy
that got in the bind involving the man with one
leg back in twenty twelve, I suffered a TBI and
had a few years of recovery after eight brain surgeries.

(01:59:47):
Oh boy, gracious. During my recovery in twenty thirteen, my
wife and I were living with my in laws and
I was going to some outpatient therapy. My wife couldn't
drive at this time, having a seizure, so we used
a service to pick us up and drive us to therapy.
One day, we were picked up by a driver who

(02:00:08):
was in a wheelchair missing both of his legs, and
his assistant in a wheelchair accessible van. What helps this
story is you must clarify that my in laws have
worked on their yard for many years and they had
planted many trees across the property and frankly, it looks great.
As we were pulling out of the driveway, the driver

(02:00:30):
popped off, did y'all mean to plant that many trees? Unfortunately, unfortunately,
I was in a weak state, having just been I
just had to relearn to speak again after my last
brain surgery just a few months earlier. And to his comment,
I said, from the back seat in my own wheelchair question,

(02:00:51):
I said to him, what did you mean to have
you legs cut off now? And he said, I thought
my wife was going to crawl into the sea or
jump out of the van. This story has been retold
over the years many times. I am doing much better.
I'm glad to hear that he'd been through a lot.

Speaker 23 (02:01:11):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:01:11):
Well, you know, I mean that's uh. I'd kind of
like to have been there for that. You really, Oh yeah,
I know you wouldn't have. I would have.

Speaker 4 (02:01:20):
Y'all mean to plant all these trees?

Speaker 1 (02:01:21):
You mean to have your legs got off.

Speaker 6 (02:01:23):
Good, that's just no. Man didn't like trees. He sure
didn't want to been that. Hey, bird hay birds, little
harsh reaction. Look, they're beautiful trees.

Speaker 1 (02:01:35):
I get it.

Speaker 23 (02:01:36):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:01:37):
How fun is it though to have a son in
law that defends you like that? I guess you're right, Hey,
bird hay birds. I've seen something in the woods I've
never seen before. M hm, whitakers. No, oh boy.

Speaker 6 (02:01:48):
By a little creek, some old garbage was there.

Speaker 1 (02:01:52):
I looked up and a rat is biting a snake
on the tail, and the snake is trying to bite him,
but the rat was too fast. He bit the snake
several times, and finally the snake gave up and crawled off, defeated.
The rat wasn't that big, nowhere near as big as
a snake. The snake was probably two to three feet long. Uh,

(02:02:12):
And and the rat just stood by his garbage till
the snake was gone, guarded his garbage against the snake.
I've never seen that before. Wow, anybody ever seen thing
like that? Rat versus snakes are.

Speaker 4 (02:02:27):
There?

Speaker 1 (02:02:27):
There, there you go.

Speaker 4 (02:02:29):
Here's a rat rescuing it's baby from a snake baby.

Speaker 1 (02:02:33):
And it's like, oh wow they do, oh they do.
Oh wow. He's not gonna make it, but well maybe
maybe looking like it has a little life.

Speaker 4 (02:02:42):
Look at that, it's gone.

Speaker 1 (02:02:45):
It's gone.

Speaker 6 (02:02:45):
I would just leave it moving very good.

Speaker 1 (02:02:50):
Hey bird, Hey birde. What are your thoughts on preachers
that consistently are long winded? First, I want to say
that I love and look forward to going to church
and singing praises and hearing God's word spoken.

Speaker 6 (02:03:03):
Apparently not as long as somebody. As long as somebody's
not long winded.

Speaker 1 (02:03:06):
My wife and I attend every week unless we're out
of town, and tithe and everything. But it irritates me
for preachers to consistently go over the church end time.
I don't mind an occasional go over by a few minutes,
but to consistently go over by ten, fifteen or sometimes
twenty five minutes seems disrespectful to the congregation. I'd like

(02:03:27):
to get there. I like getting there a little early
to make sure, I'm on time, and I expect the
service to end timely. This pushes us into the rush
mode so we don't wind up late for other plans
or meeting other people. It seems my whole life is
rushed and church is just adding to the stress. What
do you think? Am I wrong to expect a service
to end timely? It feels like you care a little

(02:03:48):
too much about that. Yeah, I mean, I understand what
you're saying, but they want to get on to that restaurant. Well, no,
let me throw this out because I and I will
say this, this thing that I do not agree with
the other end of the spectrum. I'm not gonna limit
the Lord.

Speaker 6 (02:04:08):
You know now sometimes you might not.

Speaker 1 (02:04:09):
You you limited us though, you know you you can
quench the Holy Spirit by going on too long. I
got that. Yes, people aren't listening at that point, But
like I said it, men's gatherings, especially three songs is
the max. You hit four songs, song number five. The
men are no longer. They're not they're they're not participating anymore.
You know, you can go to the people can pray

(02:04:30):
too long? Yeah, you know where you're like? Okay, I
started out I was with you. And now that my
mind's wandering a little bit.

Speaker 4 (02:04:37):
Like I'm feeling sleepy and warm right right.

Speaker 1 (02:04:39):
Don't like these out you can get to the point,
you know what I'm talking about, where the where the
Holy Spirit is going. And I think I have been
to service before, but I'm like, here's the peak of
the service right here, and somebody the one my favorite
is when you go if you're the person who is
supposed to dismiss everybody, and you get the speaker's message,
and then the person who's supposed to maybe do an

(02:05:01):
announcement at the end, they give you the sermon on
the sermon, yeah, you know, and you're kind of, well,
we just heard the sermon. I mean, you know, it's it.
We got it, you know, and you can then and
now there was a moment where people might have wanted
to come forward, they want to deal with whatever, and
now this guy's by the time he's done with all
the announcements, you're kind of out with that kind of
that kind of took there. And I would like to
tell preachers that if to say we're praying over someone

(02:05:21):
and you've asked the congregation to hold their hands out
towards this age don't be too long because I mean
your shoulder. I mean it's just.

Speaker 23 (02:05:30):
Sharing.

Speaker 1 (02:05:31):
I have a contest and we're sending people out. We'll
have a contest. Can you keep your arm with the
entire time? When when we were like that, don't switch
arms And the first time that we both made it
was last week.

Speaker 4 (02:05:41):
Can we actually can we stop doing that because we
look like we're all doing the Nazi salute. If you
don't know what's it really does.

Speaker 1 (02:05:48):
Taking loud when it's going on, its feel we're taking that.
I will say that I understand what you're saying, but
I am going to give you because I are giving
you the end of the spectrum. I think you care
about this too much. It almost sounds like you're sitting
down putting a timer on somebody every Sunday and you
point to me, you claim that you're you're you're very

(02:06:11):
devoted to the church. You're very devoted to worship. You know,
you hit us make sure we had all that. But
I think if you really are that devoted to worship,
it sounds like to me your timer is a little
too important to you. I think your mind really shouldn't
be on that. Yeah, you're right, you know that that, and.

Speaker 4 (02:06:28):
Maybe try going to the first service because that's a
hard break in you know, our terms.

Speaker 1 (02:06:31):
Yeah, you got to be smart about churches with multiple services,
always go to the first one because that because they
don't have they don't have room, uh to go over
if you walk in that last one. Uh, he he's
got nothing stopping him.

Speaker 4 (02:06:44):
Where the spirit leads?

Speaker 1 (02:06:46):
What was the old funny joke? The little boy says
next to his dad, And he asked his dad, He said, Dad,
why does the preacher look at his watch? What does
that mean? And the dad said absolutely nothing. But I
do think we do have a responsibility, though, to be
good stewards of people's time. I do think that.

Speaker 6 (02:07:05):
But I'm just concerned that our emailer cares.

Speaker 1 (02:07:08):
Way too much about It's almost like, by the way
he sent this email twice and said, you haven't read
my email yet. He really he's I think he's worried
about it too much. Yeah, if that shouldn't be the
focus of Sunday, I'm on time and see how far
the pastor goes over.

Speaker 11 (02:07:26):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (02:07:34):
Hey, it's Rick.

Speaker 4 (02:07:35):
You're listening to a Rick Burgers show.

Speaker 1 (02:07:36):
Best of by our We're back Monday, August the eleventh.

Speaker 7 (02:07:39):
Enjoy Men, Don't Run in the Raid the new book
by Rick Burchers, available now wherever you get books.

Speaker 6 (02:07:48):
So from the text line, and I understand this, I
really do.

Speaker 1 (02:07:53):
I'm a pastor, and I try to be sensitive to
the congregation's ability to stay with me and also respectful
their time. But I also and weird enough to think
that maybe the rest of their day should be scheduled
around church, and the church should not be trying to
squeeze ourselves into their plans for that day. My goodness,
you can't even get people to come more than one service,

(02:08:14):
and more, no one's coming on Sunday nights anymore. Can
we just for crying out loud, just give us a
few minutes of your time, and I will.

Speaker 4 (02:08:21):
Tell you this.

Speaker 6 (02:08:21):
I told the vox seats. Do you remember Jack part
of our show.

Speaker 1 (02:08:27):
He came here. He had a horrible situation with his
wife and he came here to start over again. His
wife had passed and he had no church culture, never
been to church anything like that. Heard the show. Show
took him to the Bible study. Bible study long story short,
took him to faith in Christ. And then he started
coming to church with us, and he was just like

(02:08:48):
a sponge. I mean, he could not read enough, he
couldn't hear enough, and he kept hearing. The pastor go,
I know I'm about to go over my time. Hey,
I'm looking up I stupid clock. Okay, well let me
get on. And he looked at me, but he goes,
why does he care? I said, what do you mean?
He goes, I want to hear his entire message. He's
been working on it all week. Was he shortening the
message now because the time didn't work out? Maybe they

(02:09:08):
should trim other things in the service. I don't think
we should be trimming this. And he didn't understand that.
He was like, I want to I want to hear
everything he has to say. Uh So, outside the church culture,
he had no concept. He couldn't believe that that that
we've got the pastors so concerned about being sure that
none of us mis getting to Captain D's on time,
you know. Uh So, anyway, here we go. I just

(02:09:31):
do that out there. It was on the textation, I'm
trying to find myself kind of want some Captain D's
all right. So Speedy's friend Hoby are better known as
his Sinsey, his life coach, his only friend, my only friend, idler,
life coach, slash friend. If I have this right, Hoby
and his wife are going to see the Backstreet Boys

(02:09:53):
in the sphere at Vegas.

Speaker 6 (02:09:56):
Hobby's always wanted to be in a boy He's always
want to be.

Speaker 4 (02:09:59):
In a boy man.

Speaker 21 (02:10:01):
That's true. That's true. I can't do not.

Speaker 6 (02:10:03):
So you're at the at the airport. Did speed you
want to go with you?

Speaker 12 (02:10:07):
He did?

Speaker 4 (02:10:07):
I tried to.

Speaker 21 (02:10:08):
I tried to get him a ticket yesterday. They ever
booked up that so?

Speaker 1 (02:10:12):
Uh so, Hobie, is it Dallas love?

Speaker 5 (02:10:15):
Uh?

Speaker 6 (02:10:15):
He's he's what halfway there? I guess if you're if
you're if you're which Dallas are you at?

Speaker 21 (02:10:20):
Uh he's a smaller.

Speaker 1 (02:10:22):
Okay, Yeah, well if you're at Fort Worth, good luck.
You're never gonna get there.

Speaker 23 (02:10:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:10:26):
He married Catherine and two other couples are going and
Mary Catherine ran once he they she knew he was
doing zoom.

Speaker 4 (02:10:33):
Uh so he's got it. Look at you, You got
your blue Caddy hat on you?

Speaker 21 (02:10:37):
Ready?

Speaker 1 (02:10:38):
So so tell some of them dance? So tell us
about this white out that's been that's been white out? Yeah,
apparently if you, specially a football game. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (02:10:47):
I don't know.

Speaker 21 (02:10:48):
I don't understand exactly why. But the the request from
the Backstreet Boys themselves was that we wear all white
with this a touch of baby blue. So as you
can see, I've got my hat ready already.

Speaker 1 (02:10:59):
What if the audience doesn't have white and that baby
blue don't, then.

Speaker 21 (02:11:05):
We're all from here from the millennial years. We've all
got we've all got white and baby blue. That was
our go to.

Speaker 6 (02:11:11):
So, Hoby, you're a grown man. Now you're somebody's dad.

Speaker 1 (02:11:15):
You're good.

Speaker 4 (02:11:16):
Yeah, so you're three.

Speaker 1 (02:11:18):
When you hear I'm going to Vegas to the Sphere,
you can kind of say with confidence who you're going
to see. I'm going to see the Eagles. But but
I mean when you hear you're going to see you too? Uh,
you know, going to see whatever. But does it feel
a little weird when people find out you're going to
Vegas to the Sphere and they go, oh wow, so
what are you going to see? Backstreet Boys? I mean,

(02:11:39):
this is the touch. Does that feel weird? I mean yeah,
but his love overcomes it.

Speaker 4 (02:11:44):
Yeah, I mean that's true.

Speaker 21 (02:11:45):
Well, I'll tell you the weirdest thing a buddy of
mine said, somebody was asking him where he was going.
He said, to the Backstreet Boys, and uh, they looked
at and said, you don't look like somebody listened to
the Backstreet Boys. And I told him, I said. The
weird thing for me is nobody's ever said that.

Speaker 1 (02:12:03):
Espressed with that hat on. Yeah, I hope he says
Backstreet Boys. Everybody goes Yeah, that's kind of what I
was thinking. Yeah, okay, yes, So while we were working out,
from time to time he would talk to me about
how hard it was to try to find what to wear.
He's got some shoes for tonight and everything. Mary call Mary,
Catherine's gonna being all white and all this kind of stuff.
So what's what is the What does the day look

(02:12:24):
like tomorrow? Because I know that's when the concert is.
I mean, how what what are we doing?

Speaker 21 (02:12:28):
Sure tomorrow? Will get up? Well, chill at the pool,
have a have a low key day. I'm drunk, go
eat a nice meal and then head over to the sphere.

Speaker 1 (02:12:37):
We get the walk to the dance move. I'm just kidding.

Speaker 6 (02:12:40):
They don't drink.

Speaker 1 (02:12:46):
Something channeling Greg. That's what he was like, Coach, That's
what he would say, they don't drink though, they're gonna
have a good time.

Speaker 21 (02:12:52):
I'm working on speed.

Speaker 4 (02:12:53):
Yeah. Hey, so have you seen the videos?

Speaker 1 (02:12:55):
I know from the shows. They're week two of an
eight week stay there at the Sphere, And so how's
it going. What's the vibe and the reviews?

Speaker 4 (02:13:03):
Oh man?

Speaker 21 (02:13:04):
The reviews or that it's unbelievable one of the greatest
visual performances.

Speaker 1 (02:13:10):
Is it because of the Sphere or is it?

Speaker 23 (02:13:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:13:12):
I will think it's I've heard a little bit of
the audio and okay, oh.

Speaker 21 (02:13:19):
One of the lead singers sounds like r f k oh.

Speaker 4 (02:13:22):
Are you serious?

Speaker 21 (02:13:23):
Yeah, that's tough. I could probably take his place.

Speaker 4 (02:13:27):
Hobe. What was that band you ran?

Speaker 1 (02:13:29):
What's the name of it? Again?

Speaker 21 (02:13:30):
And you, buddy, the one that you liked was Guilty Place.

Speaker 2 (02:13:37):
I can think of it.

Speaker 1 (02:13:41):
You know, forget if he gets up on you, you
might as well go ahead and no, Guilty, I'll never
forget it, will you?

Speaker 4 (02:13:48):
Will you be standing and singing and all that?

Speaker 10 (02:13:50):
Oh?

Speaker 21 (02:13:50):
Absolutely, absolutely. Hey, this thing costs four hundred thousand dollars
a show to put on.

Speaker 1 (02:13:58):
Hey, hey, have you been to every into the Sphere
for anything?

Speaker 19 (02:14:01):
I have?

Speaker 21 (02:14:02):
I went to see the movie they have for it,
which is basically like an I'm at Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:14:07):
Well, you know, the visual stuff they do in these
concerts is unbelievable.

Speaker 21 (02:14:10):
Yeah, are you boarding, hobby, No, no, no, it's just
they're just screaming at us from above them. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:14:16):
Okay, yeah, okay. So so you're going with some other couples, right,
and now you were There was talk that you might
go to see Lately Lady Gaga tonight.

people watch.

Speaker 1 (02:14:29):

Okay, So we know that men and women are equal,
as we say on this program, but beautifully distinct. And
you know, just like we say, you can't reach into
of men with resources intended for women and children. You
can't have a man smelling good if using things made
for women just ain't the same. Menstinct let's call ay

(02:16:11):
men thump. I'm talking about drum. I'll tell you one thing.
If you management out there exerting himself, let him go
to that shower, don't stop him. Get a hugg You know,
I've always wondered, like girlfriends and wives that have like
boyfriends and husbands that play professional football our college and
they run out there and hug them at the end

(02:16:32):
of that game. You ever smell football players at the
end of you not, It's like ammonia. I remember one
time thinking there's things coming out of me. I think
we're supposed to stay. You know what, I'm like this?
What is this? That's a slime? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (02:16:45):
But but anyway, so that's why you need Mando. Oh Hobbie,
whar's that he said?

Speaker 4 (02:16:50):
You told me?

Speaker 23 (02:16:51):
Does he?

Speaker 21 (02:16:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:16:51):
Okay, that surprised it. That's a little bit surprising.

Speaker 6 (02:16:55):
I thought he would have. He seemed like he might
be more of using secret.

Speaker 1 (02:16:59):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (02:17:00):
Well, don't send in this one either. Add what what
all right?

Speaker 1 (02:17:07):
Adler in three two Shopmando dot com. I mean, let
me tell you right now, Mando will tackle the odors
that men produce. I'm talking about from from your pits
to your feet. Oh man, so h so, and it's
seventy two of course, I'm stopping the cracking and so
seventy two hour protection. No aluminum Addler, that's what drew

(02:17:30):
you to. Yes, you an rfk JR.

Speaker 4 (02:17:33):
No producing of chafing too. That's right.

Speaker 1 (02:17:36):
You just read number three in No, there isn't man, Mando.
Science based formula is pH optimized. You're talking about the
other Broun. That's what I'm saying. It's not any That's
not what I meant. Capable of blocking odors before they start. Hey,
it's one thing to stink in and chase it. You know,
it's kind of like it's it's kind of like when're
using pain medicine. You can't be chasing it. And then

(02:17:57):
once you start stinking, it's too late. So Mando stopped
to remember happening twenty percent off. Stop the stink with
the code big vox at Shopmando dot com or go
to Rick Burgess show dot com right there under the sponsors.
But stop, I want to get out in front of something. Well,
that's not the right thing to say on this Hoby thing.

Speaker 4 (02:18:14):
Look why.

Speaker 1 (02:18:18):
And it Hoby is a happily married man, father of three,
and he's going with his wife and two couples to
this concert. And y'all got him gay, No, we don't.
Everybody does.

Speaker 4 (02:18:29):
Right here.

Speaker 1 (02:18:29):
Look at old Missouri up here?

Speaker 8 (02:18:30):
What okay?

Speaker 4 (02:18:32):
A shower together at the at the gym.

Speaker 1 (02:18:35):
You've never you've never met me before.

Speaker 4 (02:18:37):
How did we get to that?

Speaker 1 (02:18:38):
You've never met me before in my life? You don't
even know me, Hoby.

Speaker 6 (02:18:42):
I'm sorry, but I show up.

Speaker 1 (02:18:44):
I show up.

Speaker 6 (02:18:45):
I've got I've got a white sweatsuit on, and I've
got a baby blue hat.

Speaker 4 (02:18:48):
Okay, And and you asked me what I'm doing in Vegas?

Speaker 1 (02:18:52):
Yeah? What are you doing in Vegas?

Speaker 21 (02:18:53):
Oh?

Speaker 6 (02:18:53):
I'm here to see the Backstreet Boys after I go
to Lady Gaga.

Speaker 1 (02:18:56):
Yeah, the lady got him. Yeah, Okay, that doesn't sound clearly.

Speaker 4 (02:19:01):
I think the lady let's get in the real world.

Speaker 1 (02:19:04):
I mean, the Lady God got thing is they were
looking into who has residence there in Vegas and something
fun to do because they're there, Key Clarks, she's there. Yeah,
And I did mention that he said he might, I think,
but I'm uh wow.

Speaker 13 (02:19:18):
I know.

Speaker 1 (02:19:19):
I didn't say y'all are just something else. Everything doesn't
go back to get I didn't say everything.

Speaker 4 (02:19:24):
Nobody said that.

Speaker 1 (02:19:25):
Nobody could be talking about something and then we end
up at Gaya that do I wish? Do I wish
you didn't have a peach milkshake?

Speaker 4 (02:19:32):
Yes? But I mean, but that doesn't that doesn't mean anything.

Speaker 1 (02:19:37):
Nothing.

Speaker 6 (02:19:37):
Hey, you know we've done here in Clinton we got paches.

Speaker 13 (02:19:40):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:19:40):
Did you hear about this weird thing with Gary yesterday?
And boys? After you let Gary come on? Okay, Hey,
you tell Speedy I owe him about ten more.

Speaker 8 (02:19:50):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (02:19:51):
You tell Speedy he needs to embrace it he gave
Larry myself one. He's got it coming. Yeah. But but anyway, thanks,
he said, I'm telling you Larry'll give you Larry. I'll
call you here exhausted. But anyway, So this is weird,
and you know, Gary is a bit of an alarmist.

(02:20:11):
Let me just go ahead and say that, hey, you know,
and I'll pick it to oh my gosh, you know,
thinking something's going on at the farm or whatever. Hey, Hey, Gary,
I'm in the middle of a break.

Speaker 6 (02:20:20):
What's going on? Hey, what are you doing?

Speaker 23 (02:20:22):
Hey?

Speaker 9 (02:20:23):
Gary?

Speaker 1 (02:20:23):
You sent me to call you, Lily, I've been bush
hugging in this heat.

Speaker 23 (02:20:30):
Tell you that.

Speaker 1 (02:20:30):
I'm like, Gary, is this one you told me to
call you? I mean, oh yeah, yeah, that's just checking in. Okay, Gary,
that's not a call me with just two letters, Okay,
I mean two words call me. So yesterday, Hey, as
soon as you get off there, call me something interesting
down here. I've done called the police and I'm like,
he's what's it? Called the police? You instantly think it's
a prank, right yeah? And I send back text I'm

(02:20:52):
not speedy. Is that the joke?

Speaker 25 (02:20:55):
Now?

Speaker 1 (02:20:55):
Yeah? And he says, hey, call me, you know, I
Remember this comes back from the years of leaving messages.
You know, Gary, call me we got bees, that's it,
you know, And I don't know if it's killer bees
or you know, yeah, call me Mexican's nigger the pond,
you know what I mean, and stuff like that. What
does that even mean? What does that mean? That's that

(02:21:16):
time he said that the men that were working on
the barn, he didn't think they had permission to fish
in the pond. I finally got to the bottom of
that one. You remember that led.

Speaker 6 (02:21:26):
When I said, Gary, want you to just go tell
them that they can keep all the brim?

Speaker 1 (02:21:29):
Hey, are they getting paid to come down here and
fix this barn or fish? But Gary, I don't know.
Maybe they're on a break. I don't care if they
can keep some brim or whatever. It's tim th of
the bass back. I don't think I will. You remember
his comment, Yeah, yeah, yeah, Should I just not say it?

Speaker 23 (02:21:44):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:21:44):
So anyway, Gary said he didn't think he was the
one to talk. I'm gonna talk to the say provider,
and I said, let me just call and I called him,
took care of it. But anyway, so I called him
after the show. Hey, you know where redgate is. Yeah, sure,

(02:22:06):
right across there on the left, yes, okay, not on
the right side where the red gate is on the
left side. Were your property line right there? Yep?

Speaker 6 (02:22:16):
So I'm on the left side. Got it on that
dirt road, yes, Jerry, I'm there.

Speaker 1 (02:22:20):
I'm with you.

Speaker 6 (02:22:22):
Canoe on the side of the road. The canoe, I
said to a canoe.

Speaker 1 (02:22:27):
Hey, I mean there's a canoe on that with some
hand trucks, I said, Gary, truck, is this canoe gonna
get us? Is damaging anything?

Speaker 23 (02:22:37):
Is it?

Speaker 1 (02:22:38):
Is it even on our property? I ain't. Ain't on
your property, but it's it's close. Okay, Well it's not
my I don't know. Well, you just want a canoe
down here on the side of the road, I said, Well,
I really don't. But I mean I'm not.

Speaker 4 (02:22:51):
I'm not scared.

Speaker 23 (02:22:52):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:22:53):
Is there a bear under it? I mean, I don't.

Speaker 6 (02:22:55):
I don't know what's going on. Hey, hand trucks and
the canoe. Explain that to me.

Speaker 9 (02:23:00):
I can't.

Speaker 1 (02:23:01):
I got the police coming down here, I said, Well,
why a canoe you're arresting? Are they gonna take the
canoe in?

Speaker 2 (02:23:10):
Why?

Speaker 1 (02:23:11):
I mean, what they're gonna cuff and stuff the canoe
right now, he's a note on it, A note, I said, okay, well,
what's another note? Yes, note, let me read it to you. Okay, okay,
you know it's not on the right side, and I
would I got Gary, I know it's on the left.
I got it. You know, right up the work, I said,
I know exactly where you are got it. I don't

(02:23:31):
think that's my property and it ain't. But it's close. Okay,
well close is not on It says right here, we
respect your property, you need to respect ours. Okay. Uh,
I don't think that's for me, Gary, Well, I mean
we ain't doing nothing nobody's property. No, I haven't, Gary,
I don't even know what this is. And would they

(02:23:52):
give you a canoe? I guess left what you do?
And then I said this, I said, Gary, if you
walk through the very woods where that canoe is, does
not not go to a small lake back there? Yeah,
sure it does. I can't think of the name of it,
I said, I can't. I know which one? I said it? Yeah,
I said one. Do you think maybe people were sneaking

(02:24:14):
onto these people's lake and fishing without permission and they
found a head canoe up in the woods and they
found it and a lot about it. So they brought
it out to the nearest roads where people probably enter,
and they put their canoe out there with their hand
trucks and said, hey, we know what you're doing. Stop
doing it. Is that possible? But I mean, I guess

(02:24:35):
that's possible. I don't know why somebody want to be
out here with the canoe. Gary, I don't either. I
don't have the answer.

Speaker 4 (02:24:42):
I don't think they drug it to the road.

Speaker 1 (02:24:44):
So the whoever's sneaking in, that's what I says, Hey,
we know what you're doing out here. Hey, I don't
like this. And he's called the police over there. But
the police is here looking at the note right now,
And I said, are they taking fingerprints on the canoe?
What are we talking about? Back Tommy Lenora right, dang it.
It was dumb the whole time he's returned. Then of

(02:25:04):
course Gary has to say this, well, I mean, the
fact it's his canoe. First thing when he do is
find out where some Indians are around here. And I said, yes,
other people get in a canoe, not just Indians. Why
why would he say that, I ain't never been in
a canoe you've been a canoe? No, I mean yeah,
I have one time. That's what we did. Huh thinking

(02:25:25):
about it.

Speaker 6 (02:25:27):
So I don't know why that canoe is there. It
bothered you Gary greatly.

Speaker 1 (02:25:31):
Is it still there?

Speaker 4 (02:25:32):
I have no idea.

Speaker 6 (02:25:33):
I'm going down there today. I'll check and see what's up.

Speaker 1 (02:25:37):
So some people say it show hunt Jackson's funny. All right,
we'll be back a little update on the sporting worlds
when we come back. Burgess Ball Battle come out next hour.
We'll be right back here.

Speaker 11 (02:25:55):

Rick Burges, thanks.

Speaker 1 (02:26:24):
You being with us today, America. We are rolling through
another one. So so we're talking to the canoe story.
The canoe story is done, but it kind of leads
us into another story. Hey you get a minute, calm me.
Uh and so so anyway, this one we got video
with this. It looks like there's a guy who's trying

(02:26:46):
to dispose of a boat.

Speaker 4 (02:26:49):
It's a couple of guys.

Speaker 1 (02:26:51):
It looks like a neighbor or someone like within a
block or something is videoing this dump truck. Uh, and
then it looks like garbage truck. Thank you.

Speaker 6 (02:27:02):
And then this boat being trying to be shoved into
the truck and you know.

Speaker 1 (02:27:06):
How into a garbage true, you know how sometimes when
there's it's a substantial boat when there's.

Speaker 4 (02:27:10):
Too much garbage.

Speaker 1 (02:27:11):
And then they had the little thing that comes back,
comes down and compresses it down. It looks like it
spits it out once it gets down there. But this
it has some commentary along with it. But here it is.
I have never seen this like throwing out a boat
right in to the garbage truck. You can't do that, No,

(02:27:33):
you can't.

Speaker 4 (02:27:33):
Now, So now they're trying to pull it in there.

Speaker 1 (02:27:36):
Oh no, oh no, get out of the way. It's
trying to take the front. And then that falls apart.
Oh you can't make that up. Oh there's no way.
What idiots? Well, even the trash driver's an idiot. Why
did he agree to that?

Speaker 6 (02:27:52):
I don't know, but you know why, God, I think
you won that boat, So I got it.

Speaker 1 (02:27:56):
Somebody got out yea money for about one hundred bucks.
Would you try to if we play.

Speaker 4 (02:28:01):
Bigger than the truck.

Speaker 1 (02:28:06):
I can't believe that didn't work. Wat Yeah, all right,
so we got how many guys we got? Rick looked
at him? Got six guys. There's a guy that nearly falls.
Oh no, he gets tripped up a little bit. Okay,
oh yeah, oh big guy. Yeah, older man, the older
man he did. Yeah, it looks like it washed it

(02:28:32):
too well. You know what, only men would try this,
you know, only man, that's crazy.

Speaker 23 (02:28:37):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (02:28:38):
What is the dumbest thing you've ever seen? Like tried
to be pulled off? Like you witnessed. I can't believe
they're doing this. Is there anything or have you done anything?
Have you ever looking back you're like, well that was dumb.
Have you ever watched those videos? And they're so accurate
and they're titled this is why women live Longer than men? Yeah,
have you seen this? This one belongs in that. I mean, yeah,
I mean there's some there's some really, I guess one

(02:29:01):
of the dumbest things that was done, like why at
a thing that everybody was at is one time we
had somebody throw a stupid aerosol can into a fire
and really and we're like, what in the world. And
I mean it was like an explosion, you know, everybody's
running for their lives. Yeah, and so yeah, I mean

(02:29:22):
I saw that happen. Yeah, I was in desperation. It
wasn't like it looked dumb.

Speaker 6 (02:29:27):
But when we were trying to move, the truck was full,
but the safe co wouldn't fit, and so on the
left on the back, they tried to strap the safe
on and I'm following and I'm thinking, this thing's gonna
It looked like it was gonna fall at any second,
and everybody was like stopping, looking, going what are y'all doing?
One of the big gun safes and it's strapped on

(02:29:48):
leaning back, But we got it there. It was almost
an epic fell almost.

Speaker 1 (02:29:53):
And then the time that one of my buddies thought
he could jump something, and looking back on it, it
was extremely stupid because he thought he could jump over
one of the cars and inject the car, you know,
and he fell and like like busted up his right arm.
It was a bad scene, but stupidly thought he could
pull it off, you know. But things like this, it
just surprised me that somebody said anyone thought that there

(02:30:15):
was even a kind of chance that was gonna work.

Speaker 4 (02:30:18):
Putting a square boat in a round garbage truck.

Speaker 1 (02:30:21):
Yeah, yeah, goodness.

Speaker 6 (02:30:22):
That's when you used to let Kevin pull you around
skateboard going twenty miles and you thought that was a
good idea.

Speaker 12 (02:30:27):
I started wearing a helmet, and you remember how I crashed,
started wearing pads and stuff.

Speaker 4 (02:30:33):
Yeah, and the brakes helped. When I got the electric
skateboard and having brakes help too, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:30:39):
I have done. You know, I know. The thing that
comes to mind is the famous story about the moonwalk.
I mean that's about that's about as dumb as it did.
But you did think there was.

Speaker 26 (02:30:46):
Air in it.

Speaker 1 (02:30:47):
I did think there was air, yeah, but probably just
randomly jumping off of a stage onto an abandoned moonwalk
not the greatest idea. And boy it went bad. I
mean it went real, real bad. When when you're going
through the middle of that moonwall and there's no air
pressure at all, and you know that there's nothing between
you and that concrete parking lot or asphalt parking lot,

(02:31:08):
and you know you're just about to hit it wide open,
and you just start thinking this is going to be
very unpleasant. But he'll take the wind out of you two.
I mean, it'll take you right out. Have you seen
the int Oh, it's one of the best ever. Yea
about this, I'm still injured from it. I mean it
plays on my ongoing health still everywhere I go. I

(02:31:30):
have to explain. Now before y'all look at this X ray,
just let me tell you the deal. I mean, I
had a guy one time when they were doing the
Calcium Store and he's pulling it up on the screen.
I'm like, now look before you and he pulls it
up like I said to me, hold on, he goes
what happened? And I'm always like, as you heard every
time I've told the story, I just don't want to

(02:31:51):
tell that stupid story. I want to say, well, you know,
I served in you know, a rack, you know them
front lines, tough situation, dragging one of my buddies out,
you know, I mean something like that.

Speaker 6 (02:32:06):
You know when I was in the All Star Game,
you know, yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:32:09):
For a long time I would tell the bo Jackson
story and he tried to run over me, but he
didn't even right in the chairs and it damaged me.
But I still tackled him, didn't make the first down.
You know, all that stuff. Is so much better than
I jumped on the Moonwalk. They cut their pressure off to.

Speaker 6 (02:32:24):
Yeah, golly, I mean I'm major injured.

Speaker 1 (02:32:28):
Still. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:32:28):
I remember the doctor the first time he looked at
He said, do.

Speaker 1 (02:32:31):
You have a shortness of breath? I said, well, I
guess I's just how to live now I am. Yeah,
it's just terrible. I love at best Buy, he said,
the electronics. Somebody's trying to fit something in there, and
you're waiting like a home depot or loads. Somebody's bought
something they can't handle and they're trying so hard. Well,
if you ever like had like something like of course

(02:32:53):
for me, you know it's I've become a little more handy.
But have you ever been talking to yourself, like, say,
you take a change and you know there's certain moves
you should not try with the chainsaw, but you think
you can get this limb, and you'll even tell yourself
this is stupid.

Speaker 10 (02:33:08):
Do not do this.

Speaker 1 (02:33:08):
It is so stupid. What does it matter? Just I mean,
try to weight, don't get the help out here, and
you keep thinking if I can just get this one limb,
and you just start dogging yourself, and then of course
it I nearly got slapped in the face. Have you
ever had like a limb under duress and it was
because from a storm and it was under I mean, guys,

(02:33:31):
if I don't drop my head, that limb skim the
top of my head because I'm in there trying to
move something and it's under duress and I'm cutting it
the wrong way and that thing come flying around like
it was. It could have it could have taken my
head off. I guess when you work with the tree,
part of the power and they sting so something big
enough though they hurt you real bad, but hey, how

(02:33:53):
about this, if they're under duress, leave it alone. Yeah,
I mean, look, figure out what you're doing. Don't shoot ready,
aim now, idiot. And if you have a love seat,
tight down, tie down.

Speaker 17 (02:34:03):
Greg.

Speaker 1 (02:34:03):
The bad thing about that there was plenty of room
for it. I just you just did half.

Speaker 12 (02:34:09):
Speaking of chainsaws and limbs and all that, this video
is recently going viral of these guys claiming.

Speaker 4 (02:34:14):
It's all that. Yes, is this what it falls on?
The house? Huge oak tree. These guys claim they knew
how to take care of it.

Speaker 1 (02:34:19):
You got to bring in pros for this.

Speaker 4 (02:34:21):
No, these guys, I.

Speaker 12 (02:34:22):
Don't think they're prosional, obviously not.

Speaker 4 (02:34:26):
And it doesn't go it's leaning the wrong way. They're
cutting it the wrong.

Speaker 1 (02:34:31):
Way to why would they not see what the lean
of the tree and buddies, it does not go good, No,
it doesn't. I hope nobody's in that house.

Speaker 4 (02:34:44):
Stuck in the tree.

Speaker 1 (02:34:50):
That just destroyed, That.

Speaker 4 (02:34:53):
Destroyed the whole house.

Speaker 1 (02:34:54):

where he's gonna call on two names to be in
the Burgess Ball Battle.

Speaker 4 (02:36:07):
Speedy, we send it over to you.

Speaker 1 (02:36:09):
Yep.

Speaker 6 (02:36:10):
There look old Greg right there standing by the wheel.
He's the one that drew these names. We have Jessica
Lawler jess On Jessica and she will face off against
Mark Springer.

Speaker 17 (02:36:23):
Mark.

Speaker 1 (02:36:24):
Let's go, Mark, Come on, Mark?

Speaker 19 (02:36:27):
All right?

Speaker 6 (02:36:28):
Everybody was getting along until now a right, Come on
in here, one of y'all get on one side.

Speaker 23 (02:36:33):
Here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:36:34):
All right, we have four basketballs, two goals. You got
the one on the right, Mark, you got the one
on the left. Jessica, you got thirty seconds. Okay, I'm
gonna get this puppy started. Here. We'll tell you when
to go. Last ten seconds. Everything counts as a three. Okay.
Are y'all too ready? Are you sure?

Speaker 1 (02:36:50):
Are you ready? You don't look at you ready? I'm ready?

Speaker 4 (02:36:52):
Mark, You're ready? Yeah? I go wait, wait and.

Speaker 1 (02:36:56):
Go.

Speaker 4 (02:36:57):
Here we go thirty seconds go all right, we got
Jessica on the left.

Speaker 1 (02:37:00):
You're gonna right.

Speaker 17 (02:37:00):
It is two to two.

Speaker 2 (02:37:02):
Oh, I got I like it.

Speaker 1 (02:37:03):
This is six six to cent. Oh, this is gonna
be a battle. It's eight to six.

Speaker 14 (02:37:07):
Just go over more.

Speaker 1 (02:37:08):
It's eight to eight. We got fifteen seconds ten today,
twelve to ten. Shoot, this is going down to the worst,
thirteen to twelve. It's up marking, Jessica. Jessica's up seventeen twelve.
It's my seconds left. Oh my goodness, we just lost power.
Hang on, hang on, hed no, no, no, we just
lost power. Controversy. They have five seconds. It went dead

(02:37:34):
at five seconds score. It was seventeen twelve, Jessica. How
did that happen? It was seventeen twelve, Jessica, Oh well,
five seconds left? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:37:44):
What the world?

Speaker 1 (02:37:47):
Do you know how that happened?

Speaker 4 (02:37:48):
Did did the power? Did the did the chord come
out speedy?

Speaker 15 (02:37:52):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (02:37:52):
We're back okay, Oh my gosh, it was it was
down to the wire. What do we did? I know
what it was.

Speaker 1 (02:38:00):
It was seventeen twelve, Jessica, with five seconds to go.
But that he could he could hit three pointers. Uh,
you know, and everything was in three point then, but
you would have to keep scoring yourself because it's not
gonna score it at three points now, yeah, do.

Speaker 4 (02:38:14):
We do a shoot off, a shoot off, but she's
up by five.

Speaker 1 (02:38:19):
Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, I think we have somebody has
to get seventeen twelve. Let them go for five seconds
and every shots three points. That's the only way, it's
only that's only fair way to do it. Well, she
was up seventeen twelve. You can't rob her of that leader.

Speaker 6 (02:38:36):
We're gonna let it countdown and then when it hits
the five seconds, y'all shoot.

Speaker 4 (02:38:39):
Okay, well that then we'll do the math ourselves.

Speaker 9 (02:38:42):
Well we won't.

Speaker 4 (02:38:42):
Will you just add their score now?

Speaker 23 (02:38:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:38:44):
Yeah, yeah, So I forgot y'all get ready.

Speaker 6 (02:38:46):
When he gets down to five seconds, y'all stall, shoot
and we'll see who gets the most in.

Speaker 1 (02:38:50):
Five seconds, and then we'll add your five second total
to what you had when it went down. But I'll
be honest with you, sir, you're being nice. The likelihood
of you coming back is very slim. Anyway, here we go, bute, hey,
but get he get ready. Here we go seven seconds
five and go right now here we go. It is
uh he has scored Oh my gosh, he's just scored six.
He just scored six.

Speaker 15 (02:39:11):
He just time he.

Speaker 1 (02:39:14):
Said no, he said he's fined down and.

Speaker 4 (02:39:16):
He scored six.

Speaker 1 (02:39:17):
Oh he scored six? Okay, did he just win? Y'all?
He just win? But I cannot be more uncomfortable. God,
So he just scored. He just he sunk too. He
scored six. Nus would make it eighteen to seventeen.

Speaker 6 (02:39:37):
All right, okay, so you won very square. Yeah, it's okay,
all right, So Jessico, you you're gonna spin from Mark
and I'm gonna go into here so I can get
out of the situation. I'm gonna go over here, and
and uh and Uncle Greg's gonna turn the lights on.

Speaker 1 (02:39:53):
Okay, you go.

Speaker 6 (02:39:54):
He finally found him he normally can't and uh and
so y'all gonna take over and what a comeback?

Speaker 19 (02:39:59):
Wow?

Speaker 1 (02:40:00):
So okay, all right, Jessica, here's what we're gonna say.
You say it, it's not will to me, and then
you and then spend it. Okay, it's not will to me.
Then you spend it. Okay, all right, go ahead, and
so Mark, whatever she spins you can have or do
your own spin.

Speaker 6 (02:40:15):
So you this this is let's see how it goes.

Speaker 4 (02:40:19):
Oh my goodness, all right.

Speaker 1 (02:40:20):
So coming around, oh my okay, okay, oh shoot, all right,
so it's rock and roll City. You could, right now,
Mark say we just want to hear a band, or
you could spend your own spin. But I'm gonna warn
you you can't get rock and roll City once you
do that. Yeah, I know it's a tough decision. Uh, Mark,
Are you want to take your own spin and go
for the big money?

Speaker 9 (02:40:40):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (02:40:41):
Uh, he's gonna take his own spin, all right, Come
on over, Mark, and you will say it's will to
me and then spend it. Here we go, all right, okay,
we go.

Speaker 12 (02:40:53):
Oh my goodness, I keep saying, oh my goodness, I'm sorry.
Put oh my goodness, y'all.

Speaker 1 (02:41:00):
We okay, okay, okay, I'll feel bad.

Speaker 4 (02:41:05):
Okay, all right, I'm so glad you didn't win, sir.

Speaker 1 (02:41:07):
You will get an autograph copy of Men Don't Run
in the Ring, Okay, the new book.

Speaker 16 (02:41:13):
So there you go, and you spun man, So you
know what you would have You know what you would
have wanted. If everybody's good, I feel everybody Okay. If
you'd just spuned like a thousand dollars for him, I'd
have felt awful. Jessica, Jessica, would you like would you
like to error grievance.

Speaker 1 (02:41:27):
Are you good? Okay?

Speaker 4 (02:41:28):
Now, I think well, y'all.

Speaker 1 (02:41:30):
She was up seventeen twelve with five seconds left, and
at five seconds they had to shoot off.

Speaker 6 (02:41:35):
He sunk two three pointers. I don't know how you
could do. I mean, I didn't know how to refining
the room could have made the call.

Speaker 1 (02:41:41):
Yeah, family, Oh my goodness, Suddenly I did not win?

Speaker 21 (02:41:46):
Did he do that?

Speaker 4 (02:41:47):
He was winded?

Speaker 6 (02:41:48):
What was said is the moment to go with shirts?

Speaker 1 (02:41:50):
Oh yeah, I'm talking about one of our box seat. Okay,
I feel like I don't know what's gonna happened. Okay,
I think we did that about as fair as we
could do. We went to five seconds, they shot well,
I mean the power was here, rob Jessica of a
of a of a five point leading and start over.

Speaker 4 (02:42:09):
No no, so we we started where they were and
finished out and he won. He drilled those two threes.

Speaker 1 (02:42:16):
Got a sweet shot, so does Jessica.

Speaker 4 (02:42:20):
She had the finger on.

Speaker 6 (02:42:21):
Those are two really good players right there.

Speaker 23 (02:42:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:42:24):
Wow, So we we got a record that.

Speaker 4 (02:42:27):
Was that was that had never happened before.

Speaker 1 (02:42:31):
Remember one time, same thing, you hit the button, whether
when you arm Okay, I think that's what happened ilbow
or something hit the power.

Speaker 4 (02:42:38):
Okay, I had to unplug from the wall for something.
I was crawling up under there. That happened to we
come batteries or something.

Speaker 1 (02:42:45):
We'll meet the vox seats, their opportunity to say hello,
asked a question. We recognized them all right after this.

Speaker 11 (02:42:54):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (02:43:06):
Hey, it's Rick. You're listening to a Rick Burgers Show.
Best of IRA. We're back Monday, August the eleven enjoy.

Speaker 11 (02:43:13):
Doing what he was born to do. The Rick Burgess shows.

Speaker 1 (02:43:20):
You America, Thank you for being with us today. Do
you have peace of mind with your security system?

Speaker 4 (02:43:31):
I mean when you go.

Speaker 1 (02:43:33):
And you go to put in your code, does it
also unlock peace of mind if you don't have a
simply safe system. Probably not. They are using modern technology.
They are way out in front in the industry. These
AI powered cameras that are looking at the property and
also whenever they see something that's not right, boom. One

(02:43:55):
of the monitors that are watching, they come on live
and they can interact with one. It's great to have
a security system that reacts, you know, but what about
one that is proactive doesn't let it ever happen. Hey,
what are you doing here? We doing that? Canoe? Okay? So,
by the way, I got an update from Gary. Hey,

(02:44:15):
Canado's gone. Handtrucks still there? Uh So anyway, simply safe
dot com slash big vox right now, get fifty percent
off on a simply Safe system with a monitoring plan.
But you want that anyway. In the first thirty days
are free. They can dispatch an emergency on the property immediately,
get helped quicker. You know something going on, not just

(02:44:36):
break ins. So so go to Simplysafe dot com slash
big Vox fifty percent off. You also can find the
link at Rick burgesshow dot com under the sponsors button.
Here come the fox seats.

Speaker 4 (02:44:53):
Are you ready?

Speaker 27 (02:44:53):
Let's go and listen Hevera, listen.

Speaker 4 (02:44:58):
To Rivera, come to the Big Boy microphones.

Speaker 1 (02:45:02):

things from Vintage Cafe in Cloverdale.

Speaker 1 (02:45:19):

Speaker 8 (02:45:22):
They're really good. They're deadly.

Speaker 6 (02:45:25):
Those the ones that have we that have the little logoing,
and you're the blueberry muffin person.

Speaker 1 (02:45:31):
Yes, oh wow, very good.

Speaker 4 (02:45:33):
So do you have a question our shout out?

Speaker 1 (02:45:35):
I do have a shout out.

Speaker 15 (02:45:36):
So it was my son's birthday yesterday. His name is Carter,
so just wanted to wish him a happy birthday. We're
going to go back and watch this later.

Speaker 1 (02:45:45):
So Carter, Carter, what's up?

Speaker 26 (02:45:47):

Speaker 1 (02:45:48):

Speaker 4 (02:46:09):
Okay, Jessica, I am.

Speaker 1 (02:46:12):
I am totally fine.

Speaker 28 (02:46:14):
You want to give a shout out to my friend
JB for saying that I suck at Burgess Ball.

Speaker 8 (02:46:19):
Very good.

Speaker 4 (02:46:20):
He just text me like you suck.

Speaker 1 (02:46:23):
In my friend.

Speaker 28 (02:46:24):
That's a little harsh because he sent me pictures of
me losing texts.

Speaker 6 (02:46:28):
Coming to your defense, they said, did you got ripped?

Speaker 1 (02:46:31):
Well, of course it was.

Speaker 23 (02:46:32):
It was.

Speaker 6 (02:46:34):
It was HER's right right.

Speaker 4 (02:46:36):
It's like you have friends like Greg.

Speaker 1 (02:46:38):
That sounds like you really I thought.

Speaker 4 (02:46:40):
You had a really nice shot. And let's give Mark credit.

Speaker 1 (02:46:43):
I mean he had five seconds.

Speaker 6 (02:46:44):
To hit two three pointers and he did.

Speaker 1 (02:46:46):
Yes, true credit. All right, any of the lawyers that
want to speak a question or comment. So we've got
a nine year old with us, but we also have

a pile of calories.

Speaker 1 (02:53:14):
Remember Sean's listening, not watching, so you know I can.

your favorite songs. Greck is not Van Morrison. That's not
Van Morrison.

Speaker 9 (02:53:42):
No.

Speaker 1 (02:53:43):
Oh, the whole time I thought this was Van Morrison. No, Rick, Oh,
it's Van Morrows.

Speaker 4 (02:55:13):
Welcome to the.

Speaker 1 (02:55:14):
Show, Buddy.

Speaker 8 (02:55:15):
Thank you, so I wouldn't blessed to be here.

Speaker 1 (02:55:18):
I'm afraid that, you know, everybody here has done so well,
it's hard for us to truly give out the award
this week to listener of the week, but I will
say that you could make a great case for Van.
Van listens to the show pretty intensely. Uh, and he
heard us talking about if we were at waffle House,
what we always order. Yeah, he went to waffle House.

(02:55:40):
He had our orders exactly the way we would. He
wrote it down, Van, and then brought that to here
to the show like everybody likes it.

Speaker 8 (02:55:49):
Even though I went to the wrong door to start with.

Speaker 1 (02:55:51):
That's all right, sat there for nearly an hour. Yeah,
you we didn't even know you were there. That's all right, man,
that was good, you know the good news though the
way you went, we didn't think you were a stalker
because when we pulled in, we didn't see you. So
that's good. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:56:03):
And I'm surprised Greg didn't leave you out there, because
he's left people out there.

Speaker 8 (02:56:08):
So surprised when Greg came to the door.

Speaker 1 (02:56:11):
Yeah, so Van, you you're you're in the loop. Uh,
you you've I don't know why you put a referee
shirt on, do you want to start there or do
you have a certain order you want to go?

Speaker 14 (02:56:21):
Well, I supposed shout out to my co workers at
Christline Elementary Parsonal School District. I'm a Cassodian there, uh,
to Darlene, to Ken, to Melinda and Sedema, and also
to the YouTubers. I promise them I'd shout out to them.
Be Gampi, Denisa, Pop, Tark, Glenn, Bigie, Cal Larry, Larry,
cal Grooms, Knookom's just John, Chris Captain, Kirk Ginger Chevy

(02:56:44):
and Karen. Okay, wow, those that were on the list yesterday.
If I miss somebody, I apologize, you know I do.
I do some texting in YouTube.

Speaker 7 (02:56:52):
And and so uh.

Speaker 14 (02:56:54):
You know I don't prefer one over the other. I
don't want to show any partiality. The reason I'm doing
I'm warning this today, Rick is you know, I really
like the show I've been following for several several years,
uh and and agree with most of it.

Speaker 8 (02:57:10):
But there's there's there's two things.

Speaker 20 (02:57:12):
You know.

Speaker 14 (02:57:12):
Rick does a great impersonation of of Gary, he does
a good impersonation of Larry, and who was the car
Wars guy Joe.

Speaker 8 (02:57:21):
Yeah, most all of those.

Speaker 14 (02:57:23):
But but there's one impersonation doesn't really makes my skin crawl,
and that is when you do the Asian people.

Speaker 8 (02:57:30):
I mean, really, that's that's yeah, yeah, that's that's That's
the one that.

Speaker 11 (02:57:34):
Gets to me.

Speaker 8 (02:57:35):
And also your ATTACTI okay, sorry, and.

Speaker 14 (02:57:39):
Also your attitude towards football officials. Now, don't get me wrong,
I love high school football. I went to college with
him without with the idea of being a high school
football coach. I allowed myself to get discouraged. So I
did the next best thing. I became a high school
football official for ten years.

Speaker 1 (02:57:57):
Okay.

Speaker 14 (02:57:58):
He read read the book, read your book you okay,
and love it. Brought back a lot of memories and everything.
So you know, I'm just kind of standing up for
my brethren. You know, I was gonna let it go
because the old show Rick had said he had might
come in about one of his friends going to the
dark side.

Speaker 11 (02:58:16):
Yes, and he was.

Speaker 8 (02:58:17):
Referring to that that friend going to be a football official.

Speaker 1 (02:58:20):
My dad said the same thing about one of his friends.

Speaker 8 (02:58:22):
Really okay, And and part timers, you know, determined into
their career.

Speaker 1 (02:58:26):
The sart time job cost me a full time job.

Speaker 14 (02:58:28):
Yes, okay, yes, I remember that, but on the new
show within the past seven eight months, he made the
same comment about his friend going to the dark side.

Speaker 8 (02:58:38):
So I just had to bring it up. I have
to speak up for my brother.

Speaker 9 (02:58:41):
Now.

Speaker 14 (02:58:41):
When I go to a football game, you know, high
school football, I said, I love. I think it's the
most coached influenced sport that there is, you know, is
high school football. You know, I don't holler at those
officials now I do it baseball sometimes.

Speaker 6 (02:58:55):
See there is this a shout out yeah, yeah, okay.

Speaker 14 (02:58:59):
Yeah, because you know I called in one time and uh,
that's back when y'all had the trolling okay and Speed
Speedy and Bubba did not give me a time out.
But I was gonna, you know, I was I was
saying that, you know, I was speaking going to make
a prediction that you would be ejected from one of
your grandkids ball games, because it's different with these grandkids.

(02:59:20):
And I would like Miss Terry to document Speedy when
when River is it, you know, starts starts playing ball.
And also Lisa, when Greg you a little won't start
playing ball because I got a failing that they're going
to get chumped, hopitalized or something like that.

Speaker 1 (02:59:37):
It's different, you know, just I just you know, I
don't mind umpires and officials if they get all the
calls right, I'm fine.

Speaker 8 (02:59:42):
Yeah, nobody's perfect.

Speaker 4 (02:59:45):
Well, you know what.

Speaker 1 (02:59:46):
That's what I'm pointing out.

Speaker 8 (02:59:52):
You have Have you ever officiated? I know you volunteered time?
Really football?

Speaker 1 (02:59:57):
No, not football football because I wanted my dad to
speak to me.

Speaker 8 (03:00:03):
Okay, I get that.

Speaker 6 (03:00:06):
Now.

Speaker 8 (03:00:06):
Were you ever penalized for for anything besides dancing in
the end zone.

Speaker 1 (03:00:11):
As a player or as a coach because that was both? Yes,
Oh yes, of course. Oh really, yeah, I was penalized for.

Speaker 8 (03:00:22):
You get penalized a time for dancing then zone.

Speaker 6 (03:00:24):
Right, rob late here, too late here, or too out
of bounds?

Speaker 1 (03:00:29):
Hit somebody? Well, I mean they're they're walking the line.
I mean, what am I supposed to do, like think,
oh no, maybe they want to they're going out of bounds.
I don't know. Then I stopped and they cut and
go back inside. So if you're gonna run that sideline,
I'm gonna knock you under the water. Cooking Wow, I
was well, I don't know whether if he's still in bounds,
I mean, don't throw a penalty If I hit him
in bounds.

Speaker 4 (03:00:49):
He's now out of bounds.

Speaker 1 (03:00:50):
But when I hit him, he was in bounds. He
was trying to get to the sideline.

Speaker 4 (03:00:55):
I'm like, how do we know that?

Speaker 23 (03:00:56):
Now?

Speaker 8 (03:00:56):
Yeah, how do we know that?

Speaker 14 (03:00:57):
I'd say I was probably fortunate one time, you know,
I did I mention I played a little ball.

Speaker 4 (03:01:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I played.

Speaker 8 (03:01:05):
Defensive end, defensive end.

Speaker 4 (03:01:07):
Yeah, get around.

Speaker 8 (03:01:09):
There's only about one hundred and fifty back then.

Speaker 1 (03:01:12):
Sitting there seventy five and that three take Nick.

Speaker 8 (03:01:14):
Yeah, I'd like to go.

Speaker 14 (03:01:15):
I'd like to drop by Buffalo Wild Wings and check
that out. Yeah yeah, having a picture made and uh,
you know, I'll be honest with you.

Speaker 23 (03:01:25):
I was.

Speaker 8 (03:01:25):
I had my doubts about the show. You know, when
when I heard everything about you know, bubb Believe and everything,
I had my doubts.

Speaker 1 (03:01:32):
Well, sure, but I was.

Speaker 7 (03:01:34):
I was wrong.

Speaker 14 (03:01:35):
Okay, y'all were doing a good job. Okay, don't get
the big head. You know, it's one thing to obtain,
but it's another thing to maintain. Hey, I was also
wrong about Nick Saban, Yeah I was.

Speaker 8 (03:01:46):
I was not a proponent, I was he was. Yeah,
I missed that one.

Speaker 6 (03:01:51):
I got to tell you, man, that was a big miss. Yeah,
that was a big one.

Speaker 1 (03:01:54):
Yeah, yeah, I was just missing.

Speaker 14 (03:01:56):
I was not a fan because you know I mentioned
and said things about, you know, being a big, huge
Alabama fan and that that kind of thing. So yeah,
I was the one that says something about, you know,
getting sick my stomach a few times that over never
beat Alabama and you.

Speaker 8 (03:02:09):
Know they want to go to church and wean't go
to work. So uh, that's pretty much be it.

Speaker 4 (03:02:13):
Appreciate you like you like Dicky Nadmeyer.

Speaker 8 (03:02:16):
Oh yeah, yeah, I like that one.

Speaker 1 (03:02:18):
Okay. I want to take Van with Fellish and me
out to see the Tide this year. I mean, I'm
he didn't like Saban, but I'll tell you one thing
that is Aban's going. I don't like the booer.

Speaker 8 (03:02:28):
I understand that there's a bad need for football officials.

Speaker 1 (03:02:32):
Oh yeah, nobody wants to do that. Yeah, nobody wants to.

Speaker 8 (03:02:35):
I don't know why you want to get into it.

Speaker 1 (03:02:37):
I would not. It's a tough job.

Speaker 4 (03:02:41):
It's too hard.

Speaker 1 (03:02:43):
I wouldn't want the job.

Speaker 4 (03:02:44):
It's a hard job.

Speaker 1 (03:02:45):
I wouldn't want to.

Speaker 6 (03:02:46):
There's so many other things that God's called me to
and that's not one of them.

Speaker 8 (03:02:51):
I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (03:02:52):
I'm actually here to try to help officials go to heaven.

Speaker 4 (03:02:58):
Rick Van, serious about this?

Speaker 6 (03:02:59):
You don't no, No, officials, yes, lawyers probably not know right?

Speaker 14 (03:03:08):
Well, you know there are some lawyers who are officials.
You know, college college officials are pretty you.

Speaker 6 (03:03:13):
Know, if you're you're a lawyer and an official, what
are you just dancing on the fires of hell?

Speaker 4 (03:03:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:03:18):
I mean, wow, that's a van. Did you say you
are currently one?

Speaker 23 (03:03:22):
No?

Speaker 8 (03:03:22):
I retired in six.

Speaker 4 (03:03:24):
Did you when you were one? Did you ever know?

Speaker 9 (03:03:27):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (03:03:27):
Man, I blew that and you know, and you knew
it like you blew it like maybe a call or
it was a judgment and you're like, man, I don't
think I got that right.

Speaker 4 (03:03:36):
Does it sit with you?

Speaker 1 (03:03:37):
Do you just have to move Do you own it? Yeah?
You ever walked over to the coach that have missed
that one? No, that's probably you can't do that.

Speaker 4 (03:03:47):
Do you try to make up for it or do
you just move on?

Speaker 23 (03:03:50):
No?

Speaker 1 (03:03:50):
No, we never do that. Do you know you know
the story in the book, You know the story in
the book about dad Dad taking the ball and all
that one.

Speaker 6 (03:03:58):
Do you know who that official was that took care
of that, Steve Shaw.

Speaker 1 (03:04:02):
No way, Steve Shaw. Steve saw. Steve Shaw told that story.
I mean every time youboy would get around because he
was he was at one time an official in the
Gulf South Conference and he's the one that got the
call right and went to dad and got the ball
and all that, and he loved that story.

Speaker 14 (03:04:16):
Steve Shall became a very well known SEC referee. He's
over all right now, he's over all the officials.

Speaker 8 (03:04:23):

Speaker 8 (03:10:29):
It's horrible.

Speaker 1 (03:10:30):
That's right up there with Remember the first time you
heard Casey Kasey tell you what that song Shannon was
about about that doll? You thought it was about somebody
and they broke up. They're like, no, it's about somebody's
dog to swim out and drowned. I'm like, who writes
a song about that?

Speaker 4 (03:10:43):
He has gone you got it?

Speaker 23 (03:11:22):
Uh?

Speaker 10 (03:11:23):
My wife has figured out that I get most of
my advice from you guys. So last year, last year,
we were at the farmer's market and he was like
one hundred and fifteen degrees agrees, and I was ready
to go, and she was just, you know, doing the brows.
And we walked up and there was a guy there
and he had peaches and some peas and this that

(03:11:45):
and the other, and how I me and him locked
eyes and he's like, dude, I'm so over, I'm ready
to go. And she's picking her little produce and I
walked over to the side. He come over and I said, hey, man,
one money. He said what I said, one money? How
much you want for everything? He said, man, are you serious?
I said, yeah, he said, forty bucks. I said, bag

(03:12:05):
it up.

Speaker 4 (03:12:05):
Sold, Wow, sold money.

Speaker 23 (03:12:10):
So I got.

Speaker 10 (03:12:10):
I got like a bushelo on a half a peece,
some peaches, some squash, some bell peppers, and some tomatoes
and cucumbers. And he starts bagging thinging much. He says, no, no, no, no, sir,
I don't want all that. And uh he said, ma'am,
your husband.

Speaker 11 (03:12:25):
Bought it all.

Speaker 18 (03:12:26):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (03:12:26):
We got in the car and she starts just braiding me.

Speaker 10 (03:12:30):
I can't believe you've done that. I said, babe, it
is one hundred and fifteen degrees outside.

Speaker 8 (03:12:34):
I'm done.

Speaker 19 (03:12:35):
He's done.

Speaker 8 (03:12:36):
He named his probably forty bucks.

Speaker 10 (03:12:38):
I said, I gave the man sixty.

Speaker 1 (03:12:41):
Anything to leave, anything to leave this.

Speaker 10 (03:12:44):
So this week when you're all talking about it, she
just said hmm.

Speaker 1 (03:12:47):
I said, oh great, where you got that from? Yeah, yeah,
a lot of people. Yeah, you can take advice from us.
I just wouldn't admit it to you.

Speaker 10 (03:12:58):
Yeah. Well no, she heard the but I'm the guy
that called in years ago and we were out of
town and she really wanted to eat this restaurant in
the hostess like, well, sir, it's a two and a
half hour await. So I folded a twenty and slid
it down the name list, you know the list there,
And I said, I think that's my name right there.
And she said I think you're right. She said, I
can't believe you've done that. What about the people behind us?

(03:13:19):
I said, look, it's a free market. I said to
dude behind me, could have offered one hundred.

Speaker 4 (03:13:22):
Ay man right, bolding money.

Speaker 1 (03:13:24):
Look, this is guy I want to go places with.
