I can't tell you the number of pumpkins I saw
Sherry moving. Because you know, we will have a pumpkin Boy, pumpkins,
my goodness pumpkins, and all them weird looking pumpkins they
all love. Now they got starfish looking pumpkin. And then
Sherry started this, Oh no, I'm not gonna throw them away.
I love pumpkin soup. And you know I make a
pumpkin salad, and I'm just like, great, okay, all right,

(04:37):
I just I just don't like that's pumpkin Soup's not bad.
It ain't bad. I mean, I mean it's I mean,

It's a nice set.

Speaker 1 (04:55):
Well, I eat a pumpkin soup, yeah, usually waiting on
my meal to get here. Yeah, you know it can't
be the meal. No, less I got some bread or something. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
I d a Split Peace soup. Yesterday I thought about
I thought about y'all.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
Can we talk about soup that you bringing up Split
Peace soup?

Speaker 4 (05:11):
Please?

Speaker 2 (05:11):
I was I thought about y'all yesterday. I thought about
in my house Greg Greg thinks this is stupid.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, it looks like.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
Stomach, it does.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
How about Greg? When when Greg and I campus this
past weekend, you know, because I took down a dough
and a cody, but didn't even remotely think about going
and getting mounting the cody. I mean, I see went over.

Speaker 5 (05:37):
That's about the most redneck thing you can do. And
I did it. You did full body mount of a
of a cody.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Yeah, a dog. I blame you. You pushed me to
do it. Yeah, yeah you did.

Speaker 5 (05:47):
Because it's a big, big old alpha male.

Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah. Sherry, Uh, well, look at it. It's pretty cool.
Sherry is very open to deer hunting, doesn't mind at all.
And we got, you know, deer horns all over the place.
And then she you know they're everywhere at campus. But
let me tell you, she draws the line, I'm not
having in any place that I will ever be a
stuffed dog. Please do not do that. There's no kyledies. Please.

(06:12):
The old old, big old turkey, he's settled up now,
got me a big old turkey. Oh boy, do you
how about how about it? I forgot to tell young
broad Rock about it. Brody, and I just forgot to
tell him he had not been in campus since it's
sitting on that big old log. He goes and gets
his keys, goes in the lots or off. And also

(06:32):
that thing's right in his face and he said it's
scared of the I bet, yeah, I bet. I was
glad that. I hate I missed that. Yeah. But anyways,
so when Greg and I took the dough to the processor.
You know, it's only been two weekends that rifle season
has been going in Alabama. They were so many deer.

(06:54):
I mean there was nowhere if you're bothered by the
process of preparing deer and the meat. It was like,
I mean everywhere you turned. I mean I'm filling out
the paperwork, you know, with like ad with like a

(07:15):
deer getting his head cut off, like like right like
like feet from me, you know, and you're looking for
where to step and uh, hey, don't wear your good shoes. Yeah,
it's like going through it was unreal. And whatever you do,
it's kind of like if you were if those of
you out there, young young fellows that you your wife

(07:36):
hasn't birthed the first baby before you yet. You know,
when you go in there for that delivery, just be
careful where you look and uh, you know when when
you go to the process or be careful where you look,
you know, just keep your eyes focused on the paperwork,
you know.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Here right tenderloins.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, I mind, wish I hadn't turned to the left
just then, baxtrac And did I tell you? Did I
tell you about the I know I did all air.
So there's a you know, apparently somebody was a WB
had their wife with them, and she had her cameo on.
And she's a big hunter. I know a lot of
you have wives that are big hunters. Yeah, and she
had she had taken one okay, and she's she's the

(08:17):
person in front of me while I'm waiting to do
my paperwork for the deer that I've brought in, okay,
And all of a sudden I see her turn in
full cambo. You were over there. You didn't hear this? Yeah,
I was listened to the ball again, you were so look,
turns looks at all the various deer hanging various places,
and says the following. If this is not our culture,

(08:40):
those of you don't understand our culture. Keep in mind,
this was a woman, Okay, this is the Hey, how
about Southern women. We got hard in those ladies. Yeah,
it ain't like anywhere else. She says out toward all
the hanging deer, any of those got a heart that
ain't busted? M hm. And they guy said over here,
they got a heart intact.

Speaker 6 (09:02):
Over here.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
Cut that out for me. I want to I love
the heart? What And I just said, Lord help, And
I said, what did you say? She goes. Everybody just
made a face. She goes, you don't need the hearts.
I said, I don't know. I don't. I don't. I
take that. Cut it up, you know, stir fright. And
I was like, oh nice. Only in Alabama would a
woman in Cambo screamed toward people gutting deer and say,

(09:26):
any of those got a heart still intact? She haven't
dip in. No, she did not. But she uh, she
was a She was a raw boned woman raised on
the farm. Yeah. Yeah, you screaming that, Yeah, and like
mustache give me the heart? Oh yeah. Keep in mind
that she knows enough to ask, because if you shoot
a deer correctly, a lot of times you explode the heart.

(09:46):
Any of those the heart's still intact. Mm hmm. That
that right there. Give me one. That's one of those
things I handed her heart. That's one of those things
you just wrapped it up and took it the house.
Yes she did, Yes, she did. Put your guy in
that cooler. That's a heart chigure rut with he didn't you. Uh,
it was straight for that. That's That's one of those

(10:09):
moments you just wish you had one of your cousins
from Detroit. We you know, just just just to watch
them deal with it. So that's we're tough people.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Yeah, under Armour really did something when they took a
regular Camo jacket and made the U and the a pink.
They did the tiny little pink thing. They really opened
a whole can of worms.

Speaker 1 (10:32):
Yes they did. Yes, they did.

Speaker 5 (10:34):
A lot of people like hearts according to the text Nation.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 7 (10:40):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Okay, So we do have other things to cover on
the program today, but I will say speedy. I had
something happened last night and I thought, boy, this is
a this is a speedy moment I'm in right now.
I mean a speedy, speedy moment. So, uh, Sherry and

(11:10):
I decided to where are y'all? And I know we've
discussed it, I think on the program, Uh where are
you guys? On Ramen go into a restaurant. I know
that when JAC went to Japan, bring that up with
my boys.

Speaker 5 (11:26):
I've never had I gotta tell you, I was a
little skeptical. But when we were in Dallas, we went to.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
And it was delicious, fantastic. They put like it's cording,
which one you get. I like chicken ramen. You can
get the ramen noodles chicken with with well. Greg yes
in in a way, but they also have it and
sometimes it has corn in it. It'll have a bowled
egg in it.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
The way they do the egg is it is interesting,
like it's like like the.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Way those new look, but what's wrong with them? We
got a weird look about them.

Speaker 2 (12:03):
So it's like ramen is amazing, it's the best food
on the planet.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
A little bit of a step out there, but it's
like the noodles have has a perm I don't know
about y'all. I had to overcome the fact that we
used to eat that when we were like had no money, right,
I never ated and came to dried in that. But
this is a more fancier present.

Speaker 5 (12:26):
Like so the eggs, the way they do it is
it's bold on the outside but running on the I
don't want.

Speaker 2 (12:33):
Yeah, you don't have to do that part. If you're
scared of it, Greg, that's you don't have to do
that part of it.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
I don't like eggs cooked, so I uh so I
went in Sherry one to go eat ramen. Okay, we'll
eat ramen. And so we we go. We're going to
the ramen place. So we walk in and we notice
that there's a young lady sitting there at a boot
by herself, and she's got some sort of appetizer, and

(12:59):
for some reason, uh, we decided to engage her. I
don't know, I felt like we came in actually when
she's going to Sweet two hundred said, honestly, I thought,
I thought, I thought, Sherry, and I began to ask
her what she was eating A little quick uh uh
A complete stranger. What's that you guy? He complete? Hey,
you have no idea who we are we eating? And
uh anyway, so she showed us where it was on

(13:19):
the menu and we went that far. Oh yeah, we
we were. We were. We were a little bit aggressive
on that. So we sit down and uh, we're you know,
we're enjoying you know, the the meal and all that.
And so we get down to the end, boy, Speedy,
you can feel it coming, can't you. And she comes over,
uh the waitress and says, oh, by the way, Uh,

(13:45):
the person back here behind y'all got y'all's meal.

Speaker 6 (13:47):
Oh he.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
And uh, I thought, somewhere somewhere, just like in It's
a Wonderful Life when they say every time a bell
rings and angel gets your wings. I felt somewhere, Speedy.
He doesn't know why, but he just felt.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
A slight for you.

Speaker 1 (14:03):
Yeah. Yeah, And you're talking about the Jane Breakers, Yeah,
and I was. And I was like, and then you
you Here's what I don't know. Do you look back?
I know, do you acknowledge them? You know this, this happened,
you did this.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
This happened to me at Delta State and and someone
did this and I went to go thank you.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
It was the wrong person. That's right, they said. It's
extremely awkward moment. Yeah, so so Sharry, we were both
so Sherry peak, Sherry peaks around, never mind, have a
good meal. Yes, Scherry peaks around the booth and she's like, well,
there's nobody back there. And I said, I guess they're
already gone. And she said, well you think it was

(14:46):
the when we talked to and I said, I highly
doubt that person. I think we had that person afraid. Yeah,
but but it might have been. So whoever you were
that is that was very very kind. You know when
people do in the drive through? Yeah, and went, of
course it runs up on speeding to change stuff. Oh yeah, yeah,
but think about this. They even wrote about speedy called

(15:09):
chain breaker. I'm sorry, that's Have you ever got something
like that and go okay, good and and not send
it on who am I supposed to send it on to? No,
that's a situation, but it drives the drive Do you
just go okay? Yeah? I mean you want somebody to
benefit from it? And whoever started.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
If you don't do it now, you could do it tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (15:29):
Speed next day. Can I tell where my socially awkward
moment hits on that how to tip? Because I don't
have any cash? I never carry cash, and now I'm
wanting to tip the person and I'm like, do you
ask them? Did they tip you?

Speaker 5 (15:42):
I mean you probably do and just full transparency, Okay.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
It's confused. I went as far as to get a
what's that boba? Was it called? I got a boba
te just so I could tip. Oh that was that's
kind of speed.

Speaker 2 (15:55):
He just says thanks and drives off.

Speaker 1 (16:00):
Word thank you.

Speaker 7 (16:01):
This is the Rick Burdger's show, all right.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
So Greg, you've done it again. What speedy may be
the king of the freebie, but I think you have
hit more deer in a vehicle than any person I've
ever known. Throw a few dogs in there. Yeah, you
have taken out a number of animals. I don't like
it either with your vehicle. Yeah yeah, And and apparently

(16:30):
it's happened again on the way in, you know, And look,
it was raining, hearts. I really couldn't sleep. I'll try now. Look,
you can't wreck yourself trying to avoid an animal that
I don't want to hit though, but I can't wreck.
And it was raining, and I'm going, and you know
how they'll they'll stand there and all of a sudden
they'll breaking. You're going, why are you're breaking that way?
Keep going the way you go? And it was you

(16:53):
know what I mean? Yeah, I mean a little bomb.
I mean, it ain't hurt nothing. You what did you do?
It was a deer? Oh but it wasn't very big.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Oh no, this morning, big as a dog?

Speaker 1 (17:11):
Oh yeah, big as any dog you got, oh bigger okay,
but you don't think you don't think it damaged your car?
So you're saying one, we're following Mama, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (17:26):
You can be more vague.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Nothing, this broke. Here's what happened. Mama was trying to
win it. She pushed it into tras probably so did
you get out and check your trip? And it was
raining so I couldn't see, but I know it was
just it wasn't that big of an impact. You don't
know if it hurts your truck? No, I don't. Could
you put it? I'm pretty confident. Could you pick this
deer in the back of the truck on your own? No,
it wasn't. It wasn't that small. Well, Greg, you damage

(17:49):
your truck? Did yeah? Let me go check for you
if you can, if you want to. But if it did,
it was that took me out. I didn't hear the
like plastic breaking on the headline or anything here. Did
you not even look at it? Now? I was driving
you got here? Oh no, I forgot my gosh, Greg,

(18:10):
you I mean I'm going out. I completely forgot about it.
Speedy's gonna check it. Go check it out.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Also there's a tree falling in the parking lot. Y'all
didn't even know that.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
You're so worried about it? Why are you? So this
is where Speed goes out there and acts like it's
bad all that. Yeah, I get it. Go out there,
have you fun. By the way, and by the way, uh,
I love this text from West Point, Georgia. Just so
y'all know one hundred point nine, and I hope everybody's listening.

(18:39):
At one hunred point nine, they are still running liners
to say ricking bub in the morning. I went up
there and they've been doing it for almost a year, right, Well, yeah,
we've been doing this for almost a year later. Yeah, yeah,
hey guys, one hundred point nine, we're glad to update
your liners. Sure, all you have to you have to
tell all you have to do is just send them
to us. That's all you have to do, all right.
So Speedy's calling us, so he's going out there to

(19:00):
check the pace damage. It ain't much the by the way,
I just know Speed. He was just called like the
regular line. But now he's he's gone all right. So
he's he's going out to to Greg's truck to see
if he's got any damage, so yours. He's gonna lie
and say I do well? I mean, why Greg, we
don't know that? Uh so I don't know where speed

(19:24):
he went? Does he does he think like the speedy?
I think I can see him? Oh here comes Okay,
she's not gonna you can see Yeah, all right, so
speedy Greg? Greg?

Speaker 5 (19:34):
Thanks?

Speaker 1 (19:35):
Greg thinks you're going to not tell the truth. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (19:39):
Hey, by the way, standing in the rain for your butt?

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Shut up? Well, I mean I wasn't concerned, all right, So.

Speaker 5 (19:45):
Greg, I got I gotta ask a question here, and
this is a win play show, buddy, Oh my gosh,
did you hit it?

Speaker 6 (19:54):
Kind of? Was it center center bottom?

Speaker 1 (19:56):
No?

Speaker 6 (19:58):
Are you sure?

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Yeah? Did you got some of the damage you have?

Speaker 5 (20:02):
Did you have did you have damage on center bottom?

Speaker 1 (20:04):
Before that's possible? Well? For what you mean?

Speaker 8 (20:08):
What what do.

Speaker 1 (20:11):
I what do you mean? Center bottom? What are you
talking about? Center of your truck?

Speaker 9 (20:15):
In your bottom below the grill?

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Well, if that's the words that, I ain't worried about
it anyone. It ain't dragging.

Speaker 5 (20:21):
No, I'm asking was there already damage there?

Speaker 1 (20:23):
But there was? I didn't know it. Did you hit
the deer there?

Speaker 7 (20:27):
Where?

Speaker 1 (20:27):
Did you hit the deer. It's more left right to
left light left front tire, left front tire, anything there
sing front tire.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
No, because what happened is Greg, it is uh, it
is it is pushed in your your the bottom front
quarter panel or the bumper excuse me, not quarter panel,
the bumper underneath the under underneath the ram logo. Uh
and down a little bit low almost like in between
the fog lights and then uh and yeah you got

(20:58):
you got some.

Speaker 9 (20:59):
Pretty good damage your bud.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
It looks like here it's pushed in some of the
the little vent deal here. I don't know what charge,
but it's it's the front, the front bumper. I just
while we're while we're talking, I'm emailing, uh while really
kind of raining out here. Uh, I just emailed a
picture adler of what I'm looking at.

Speaker 10 (21:24):
So Greg doesn't think I'm lying.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
Here, by the way, does he really? Yeah, he's he's
gonna turn lie about it. Well that was a direct quote.

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Okay, Well, well, well let's a picture.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
Lie mister.

Speaker 1 (21:36):
I don't care right well, I ain't worried about it.
Is this something different? Did you hit something else the
other day? That's problem? How many animals have you so
you're saying this is but it didn't feel that way, speedy.
Do you see the trees that fell that I was
talking about?

Speaker 2 (21:54):
That's real, Greg, What buddy, that's a real dance.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 2 (22:00):
I mean that's hanging off.

Speaker 1 (22:04):
I think that's the Yeah, that would have been. Yeah,
it did damage.

Speaker 6 (22:10):
Another one.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
I don't know I'd ride with another one.

Speaker 9 (22:16):
I'm sending you another one. I don't know what.

Speaker 5 (22:17):
The little flat thing that hangs down below it kind
of keeps the breeze from going under the car.

Speaker 9 (22:21):
It's it's it's half off.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Yeah, how going it?

Speaker 2 (22:27):
Oh, dear?

Speaker 1 (22:28):
And I just pull it off. I just pull it off.
Would you let that go on forever? I don't know.
I would look at it. Okay, So so now you
realize you do have little more man. Basically, speed's run
your morning. I don't care.

Speaker 9 (22:48):
How am I responsible for this.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
It's your fault, buddy.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Yep, I just said, emailed you a picture.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Of the tree too, A fit about it? Thank you? Greg?

Speaker 5 (23:01):
Have you have you looked underneath the truck? The deer
is freaking underneath the truck pinned under there?

Speaker 7 (23:07):
Now?

Speaker 1 (23:08):
Why?

Speaker 9 (23:10):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (23:10):
Not?

Speaker 10 (23:12):
Holy crap, it's a lie.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Here you go by the way. If it was, that
would make my day. I'm pulling on the.

Speaker 9 (23:25):
Leg now, hang on, I pulled on the leg hand.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Hang on, Hey, is the heart still good? All right?
That we'll look at the tree, all.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Right, see, y'all look like this is not a tree.
That's a tree, y'all.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Yeah, but I'm not worried about to have what was
that a bunch of limbs people parked there.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
That's where feed he licked the bees.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
Okay, we'll be back. It's just a little damn We'll
be right back. So you guys have been outside with Greg.
You gonna take a look at it then, isn't it okay?
All right?

Speaker 5 (24:09):
We we're trying to push that video over to Adler
to see you can get it up. But yeah, Greg,
he is. He's funny because now figuring out hourly he's acting.
He acts like he doesn't care, but inside it's tearing
him up. He can't believe it's because of.

Speaker 1 (24:29):
The hassle in it. Bud. Yeah, that's all I get it.
I get it. Let me tell you one thing Speedy
will do. He did the same thing for me when
he goes out looking man, you know what he is
he's like he's for if you hit something in your
truck and you think it's not so bad, speedy is
that doctor's appointment that you wish you hadn't you go
there and the doctor's find all kinds of things wrong?
I mean, and so yeah, and so they took y'all

(24:54):
took Greg out for it.

Speaker 5 (24:55):
We took Greg out and and uh, you have a
good attitude.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
I bet it was sooner he would go from like
denial to acceptance. You know, there's the different stages you
go through. And he would be like, oh, it ain't
too bad, and then he would be quiet for a second,
and then he'd be like, I don't want to pay
for that, Like, yeah, it's real, buddy.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
Yeah insurance, big castle.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
Oh yeah, there's a tree that fell out there.

Speaker 1 (25:23):
The tree.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
We can talk about that for a little while.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
I mean, if I think that I would park over
that tree, it's not even that big.

Speaker 2 (25:29):
Guys. People do park there. I'm glad I didn't park
there because talking about redwood, Look.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
What he's making such a fuss. That's like brush.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
That's almost as big as the tree I drove through
on it.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
If it was the only parking spot in the parking lot,
I park on it. I'd rather not, but I would.
I would park on it.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
I don't watch out saying, and so rotten redwoods over there.

Speaker 5 (25:56):
I'm trying to shorter video. I just condensed it. I
had learn to see if that would helping you, I
don't know, but oh, I really we found we found
some other stuff. All right, they're disappearing now see if
they're coming through. Uh, we found some other stuff that
Greg shouldn't care less about what. And he thought he
thought I was kidding when I said the deer was
still under there. But we'll show you when it goes through.

(26:18):
Videoed it, and so let's see if Greg can make
fun of that.

Speaker 1 (26:24):
Greg tell everybody about where it was, because there's some
good eating land over somewhere.

Speaker 9 (26:28):
It was.

Speaker 5 (26:31):
All right, So here he is now. First of all,
he thinks your truck is his.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Yeah, I was hoping it was. Didn't have a broke. Yeah,
the church are similar. Right here we go.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
The deer's underneath there, buddy, that's not your truck.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
That's that's Rick's truck. Both of them.

Speaker 11 (26:48):
Look, oh my god, look at it.

Speaker 5 (27:03):
But I did find another crack here, another.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Another crack, my words. Oh yeah, guys, those you that
can't see this. After went after and put the Henry
the horse head underneath Greg sticking out right over.

Speaker 5 (27:29):
That's so bad and we uh And I was standing
behind Greg when he he been and that's the crack
of the plumber action. Most guys are gonna probably you're
going to show you.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
That when I got there, the biggest dan on my crush.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
Choice of words, Greg speaking of witch. Oh, Greg, sorry, buddy,
that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (27:59):
Could be wors a good dragon.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
And then Greg which eventually probably will. Yeah, Greg would
show his soft sock while we were out there. He's like, man,
why didn't that deer have to Why why couldn't he
just stay with his mom like he was? Greg's kind
sometimes crazy.

Speaker 1 (28:14):
He's got a weird kind heart. But the main reason
is that if that would happened, my truck wouldn't be
then right, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
So it was like self interested kindness.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
Yeah, but you know he's got a soft spot for him.
It's also surprising even hunts. I felt bad. I felt bad, hit,
but I couldn't do nothing about it. Isn't mad. I
can't wreck, it's in the porn rain. I can't swerve
like you.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Know you feel worse for the deer you hit or
the truck.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Damn it, the truck, No question, guys, we got we
got plenty of the deer. Is not a hassle to
me from this point forward. Well, and plus we got
plenty of deer. Yeah, we are not hurting the deer.
So many, that plenty. And you told you there though, Yeah,
you were right. I was flat So so Greg, will

(29:01):
you let it go a few days? Oh more than
a few morning so there's no way you address it, say,
I gotta can recall. I gotta take anyway a recall. Yeah,
why y'all look at that. Give me the prize on that.
By the way, auto auto auto makers, y'all's recall. You're
out of control. I mean, can y'all? I mean, why

(29:22):
why so many recalls? There's so many, there's a lot. Yeah,
it is this prepared to death the lawsuits, is I know?
I mean, yeah, that's true.

Speaker 5 (29:30):
They got to send that to that recall out. Well,
let me tell you, I'm gonna claim something here. We
will see, uh the twenty twenty sixth calendar before that
that truck is addressed.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Oh yeah, absolutely, ain't no way that that truck's gonna
be addressing Christmas.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
No, Chris, Christmas will be here before you know.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
You got to host Christmas fingers. Remember I ended up
in the super Wait on mind you get fixed? Yeah, that's
great right around in it. Yeah, he's tapping his fingers on. Yeah,
he's picturing Hi chef in that rental. Right now, they
send it you want to send it to her? No,
she'll be horrified because the deer got killed, right yeah,
because we're hurting on them. Yeah, well I sent you

(30:08):
you the pictures. You can do whatever you want to
with m said that. Send that to send it on
to your injur scream. Yeah they love it.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
Yes, Now people are sending us pictures out the deer
right there.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
That's a good one. That looks real. That really looks real. Yeah,
it's good. We got more to cover. Top of the hour,
so much ahead, Burgess Ball Battle coming, Dawson stopping by
Taylor Hicks coming a little bit later on Much to
do as the Rick Burgess Show continues right after this.

Speaker 7 (30:44):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Okay, so let's let's talk a little bit about this.
You deserve to know what is in the tea that
you're drinking, believe it or not. Look, I'm just shooting
you straight here. A lot of what's on American shelves
isn't as pure as the label suggests. Too many imported
teas have been linked to contaminants like microplastics, heavy metals,

(31:15):
not something you want in your cup. Kendred Harvest is
the American answer, Sherry and I love these teas. They
are so so good. Every batch, third party lab tested,
zero microplastics, zero heavy metals. You can drink with confidence.
It's blended and it's packed right here in the USA.

(31:39):
And listen, there's no heat sealed, there's no glue, there's
no ink. There's not a compromise in this tea. It's
just pure delicious tea. So if you like a little
morning boost or maybe a calming evening herbal clean tea
for the whole family, love it. And if you've been
trusting overseas suppliers with your health, time to switch to
American quality and brand built on transparency and care. Now

(32:02):
there's something so calmon but a nice cup of Sherry.
Loves it too. The hot teas, Yeah, and if you
want to, you know, to not let that experience get
ruined by having to worry about what's in the cup.
Won't you join Sherry me and use Kindred Harvests? Okay,
choose American Quality Cultivating Goodness daily Kindred Harvest dot Co.

(32:24):
Use the code rick for twenty percent off. That's Kindred
Harvest dot Co the promo code Rick. All right, so
we do have we do have a story today. And
I mean the age makes this story a little tough.

(32:46):
Should I just read the headline because it's a hard
one team with dreams of lion taming. This is not good,
mall to death, but that dream in that wayff dream.
I don't want to be insensitive here because you know
that's not my nature. No, but who dreams to be

(33:07):
a line tamer? I don't know, Greg, But let me
say this. He climbed into the enclosure at the zoo
with it, and I think found out maybe he didn't
have that gift. He's not the time I thought that
he was in training to be one and it went bad.
You're telling me he decided hisself that he was ready
to jump in. See those haven't been tamed. No, this

(33:28):
is that thing where you need You're not going to
do this when you take the wheep and hold it
up and make them to their hands like they're waving.
They're not gonna do that. This is one of those
things where you need friends to go. I don't think
you're a great line tamer, just honestly, and this line
has never been tamed. I want to say this person's dead.
I want to be clear.

Speaker 7 (33:44):
He's very young.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
So that's not well. Ricky went doing we loved. Well,
he did go out doing what he loved. I guess
I guess you could say that. Of course, again, I've
made this point for several years on the old show
and now the new. No one ever says that about
fat people. When the heart explodes. That's true, all right?
So which is it really is? Yeah? So this video footage,

(34:06):
the these.

Speaker 2 (34:07):
People are are visiting the zoo. They're behind the glass, uh,
and then they see a guy climbing down a tree,
like sliding down the tree like a fireman, like a
fireman going down a fireman's pole into the enclosure. The
lion is going to see him, and it goes go.
These these these animals are bored. They are looking for

(34:27):
some kind of entertainment at all, please, and they he
It doesn't go good for him. Guys, I don't see it.
You don't, No, you don't see it. But there he
is coming down the pole, coming lion. Did the lion take?
The lion takes? I see I see a snack it's

(34:53):
below him. And he keeps going, He keeps, he.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Keeps coming down being a line.

Speaker 2 (35:01):
What does he do now?

Speaker 5 (35:03):
He is rethinking, man, bless it's hard his mind.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
A look, he's trying to run away, y'all.

Speaker 1 (35:12):
He's not a cha that All that does is make
their attack instinct.

Speaker 5 (35:16):
Yes, yeah, Mama, Mia, all you see is oh there's
an arm.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Yeah. He was just just a flake. How about this
tough day the zoo for your kids right there?

Speaker 5 (35:26):
Yeah, the blessing his my name riding and he just
went down in there and and he thought he was.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
A tamed Yeah. I think there's more than he just dreamed.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Yeah he yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:37):
Man, that's that's that's pretty bad, guys, that's real bad.
Quit that line guy, and was waiting on it. Yeah,
the line was like, well this is I didn't see this.
I've been in here for years.

Speaker 5 (35:48):
I'd have been rethinking, been going this.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
I've been going back up quick. He kind of had
a chance for a minute and he just went, I mean,
he was the Rick Burg.

Speaker 7 (36:00):
Show from text Nation.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Come on, guys, what if the kid's mom was tuned in?
You know, it's a horrible story, but highly unlikely. We
did look at that looks like it's somewhere in the
middle of Brazil, which we did take into account. Yeah,
I mean, I'm not saying that it's not possible that
in some strange twist of fate, some Brazilian found the

(36:29):
show on some streaming service just in time to see
something that involves someone in their family. I think the
odds of that are pretty low and so but appreciate
your concern, but probably not even sure. In this area
there's much of a good internet. I don't even know
that Elon Musk has been there yet, so probably the
odds of that pretty low, pretty pretty low. You know,

(36:53):
I'm not a gambling man, but if I was, and
somebody said, you want to put that ram fifteen hundred
up that somebody in this guy's family is listening to
the show or watching it, I would put the truck up.
If I was a gambling man. I feel great about it,
because I think the odds of that are are pretty minuscule.

Speaker 5 (37:11):
But that's what's so weird is that I thought we
handled that well.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Oh I did to you know, but you know you
have to remember it. Look, actually, I have the numbers here, Rick,
So what's our Brazilian numbers.

Speaker 5 (37:23):
Let's now this part of Brazil it's zero point zero
one percent. We do have someone listening in Brazil, Okay,
I'm just looking at the vozzcast here.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
This this young man's family. Probably I don't know if
they'd be in that percentage. I've never even heard of.
I bet it was shown on TV over there. It's
it's how do you previous say that? Adler? It's j
O A O P E S S O A P
A R A I B A you lost me. I

(37:56):
don't even know where. I don't know where any of
that isy. And the odds of that part of Brazil
being in that what is it? What's the percentage?

Speaker 5 (38:04):
Zero point zero one percent?

Speaker 1 (38:07):
Okay, I think, but there is a chance.

Speaker 5 (38:10):
Are our streaming audience in the US it's ninety four
point nine four percent. Do you know the country comes
in second? What Denmark? I knew at one point nine
four percent.

Speaker 1 (38:24):
I figure that because it's one of the happiest places
on earth. Yeah, the one of the things that I
think Greg was about to go down this road and
talk about it a lot in Germany too. I know
that I think speedy. One thing you have to remember
is I think a lot of times we think that
we handled something, Yeah perfectly, Hey that was that's pretty

(38:45):
good guy. But I think I think sometimes we may
not completely hear ourselves.

Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah, what a great cautionary tale that you guys handled great. Yeah,
that's what we think.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
But then it's what I thought, you know, I thought
to myself, I just I just helped somebody who was
thinking of jumping in the lines them. Yeah, not doing it.

Speaker 2 (39:04):
Great people.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
I went to the break thinking it was a public
service p s A.

Speaker 2 (39:08):
Yeah we got credit for that p s A that
we ran.

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Yeah, don't get tired, we said, blessing. Mhm, that's good.
That's good. That's always helpful. I think when the title
of always wanted to be a line tamer, that threw me.
Yeah I should have. Obviously this person's got issues. I
thought there was a person first when you said that
was training because it always wanted to be one and
got it went to I didn't realize that he let

(39:34):
himself into the bit of a freelancer. Yeah, a bit
of a freelance. And he didn't even have a wheep
our chair, that's correct, right, didn't even take that with
him to have to get down the tree with that.
It is I'll tell you one thing we learned to
whoever put the tree there too close?

Speaker 5 (39:48):
Yeah, ye to do that, I shouldn't be able to
do that.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
Yeah, most people wouldn't go. You know, somebody and I
bet there was a debate about it. You think that
trees too close to someone that was gonna jump in
the tree and climb down in the lines. Then who that?
Somebody said, I think the trees close? Is that Portuguese?

Speaker 2 (40:09):
There he's just sliding down this tree like he's a
fireman headed to that lion took off and was like,
oh wow, I'm not bored.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
For a tree. And the females are the worst.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
They're the hunters are the worst, just like in the
human kingdom.

Speaker 1 (40:25):
Yes, inspiring should have known that. Yeah, just stayed. Yeah,
but that you do think he was like, well, I
can't go back, he's so young. I know well, And
the story says that he does have some issues. That's
not surprising. But and to me, if you if you
know that a loved one has those kind of issues
and they're aspiring to be a line tamer, I think

(40:48):
a zoo trip is off with him. This is where
we try to be more sympathetic and make up for
earlier we are and it's not going well. And in
our minds and in our minds right now, seriously, in
our minds right now, we we think, man, we're compassionate.
Well we'll people that were heard. Oh yeah, I just

(41:10):
I just feel I mean right now we think we're
Fred Rogers and we're not even close. But you know what,
we need to move on. Yeah, I'm doing Okay, that's
it because because we keep trying to clean it up
and it's horrifying. Well, don't forget we started trying to
clean up and by claiming there was nothing to clean up,
don't miss that point. That's where we started. Uh, speed's
got there. The So this is this thing that that

(41:33):
you hear people talking about all the time about what
is or isn't a Christmas movie. You know there's some
that they're not that are not even up for debate,
and that I think we'll come back with this because
we can look at them just kind of set it up.
So you know, there's always that thing about die Hard,
which is not a Christmas movie, even though I think

(41:54):
I thinks it is, but it's not. But there are
things like like did you know that every year I
have to work through one that's a struggle for me
because it makes me feel strange and I know it's
gonna upset some people. And it's a full blown Christmas movie.
So I'll come back to this other debate. But and

(42:15):
and I just watched it again last night. But it
I'm sitting there almost like docking time as it's going
and that is being Crosby and White Christmas. I never
seen it. It's just, you know, there's a lot of
things happening. I know the song, but there's such an
old movie. There's things happening in the movie that that

(42:37):
that were captured in that time and didn't move forward.
A tremendous amount of dancing, big dance numbers, you know,
a lot of a lot of singing, you being punished
or having to watch now it's a musical just constant, yeah,
not constant, but but it does. There's some big numbers
and some of them are just kind of odd. I mean,

(42:58):
you're watching old Christmas movie and then there's the uncomfortable.
There's some uncomfortable things there and so I know it's
I know it gave us a great song. I know
people think a lot of it. You know, one of
my daughter in laws loves it. And and you know
that that got me in one time and struggle and
my wife likes it. Uh, but that that movie is

(43:20):
a struggle for me. It's ah, they do one thing
like they do.

Speaker 2 (43:26):
There's a play within them the movie.

Speaker 1 (43:28):
Yeah, they do.

Speaker 2 (43:29):
Don't love that.

Speaker 1 (43:31):
And then and it has something that I know you
hate more than anything. There's a miss there's a misunderstanding
in it. And it's and and and it's if if
that if if the if, the if, the if the
front desk person at the at the Vermont Inn had
just stayed out everybody's business. I heard the whole phone call.

(43:51):
She would see that Ben Crosby is not doing what
she thinks he's done, and now she's messed up his
relationship with his girl he likes and played by George
Clooney's Mama is.

Speaker 7 (44:00):
The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (44:07):
Okay, so text Nation is uh is correcting me? So
Rosemary Clooney is George Clooney's aunt, not his mama. I
always thought it was. I didn't know that. I thought
it was his mama. You all off and being Crosby
know it well. And every time I watch it, I go,
there's George Clooney's mom. So it's aunt. It's it's his aunt, okay,

(44:28):
and uh and and then and then you you've got
this other dancer that's playing her sister that looks like
she has antarexia. I mean she's like really way too
skinny and like and like the outfits don't fit right
because she's so skinny. And uh and and it's just it.
And then Danny Kay, I mean, let's face it. I
mean he's funny. But how about this, I will say
this about this movie. When you watch these old movies

(44:51):
and you watch these people, these talented people, they can act,
they can sing, they can dance. The older entertainers are
so much more talented than the than the current entertainers,
Beau except the Kardashians. Well, because we just don't demand
anything from entertainers. Now, there was a time if you

(45:13):
couldn't sing, if you couldn't sing and dance, you couldn't
do anything there was back then, play multiple instruments, you
could be, you could be pretty good, and then look
at you and go, I'm sorry, it ain't good enough. Right,
you're good, but you ain't good enough. But that misunderstanding,
you know about them trying to honor their their old general,
I've never seen any of day. It's just horrible. I mean,

(45:34):
here's George Clinty's aunt, which I thought was his mama
because being bing Crosby, he's always been a workaholic. And
he ends up with this relationship and some busybody, some
busybody who also I saw a couple of times, and
I think, on was it green Acre sheet that I
saw her on a couple of times or Andy Griffith.

(45:55):
You'd reckonize you'd recognize this at this woman she's been
in like these TV shows. Me yes, Helen Crump and
now it's not Helen Crump. And she gets on there
listening to everybody's phone calls, only gets a portion of
it thanks thanks. Being's trying to do something he's not doing,
upsets his girl. She gets mad, she goes off, takes
a gig in New York.

Speaker 5 (46:13):
It's just you and do you know that during the
misunderstanding parts of movies, I'll leave it starts screaming, going
I'll come back, because when it's all worked out, I
get so uncomfortable.

Speaker 1 (46:22):
Right, you know, when I was a kid, this is you,
You're gonna really love this. And Bamby when his mom
got killed. It always frustrated me because back then you
couldn't kill those And I remember skin you. I don't
know why they shot heard she was this was a
rogue hunter. Yeah, you're right, I remember that too. We
demanded justice. I was like, I ain't right, he's supposed
to do that.

Speaker 5 (46:40):
You know when we were playing dough Tags and Bamby,
when I was playing Christmas DJ from my mom, dad
and Lisa in the car, we went back to the classics,
something about Dean Martin being crossban superteralize all that I mean,
and that's some good stuff. And boy, they I love
get my mom and dad to talking about the memories

(47:01):
and is it Brenda Lee I think or something I
can round Christmas, but just all those old classics and
you've got your modern stuff. But man, we went way back,
but they stay started. And my dad, you know, he
recognizes the voice and he can tell immediately who that is.

Speaker 1 (47:19):
It's really cool just hear hearing the memories about that
time and all that. With the memories that but you
can go like this thing I think was done in
the forties. Maybe I don't know, but you know, you
can go too far back where some of the numbers
that they do, like these musical numbers that make you
feel weird. I know they do. They know it's they
do this thing about choreography and I guess it's making

(47:40):
fun of modern dancing at the time.

Speaker 7 (47:42):
And it's just weird.

Speaker 1 (47:43):
I mean, there's certain things that are that are weird
in it that make you feel stranged. I wish they
just stay with the story because being Crosby and Danny
k Are are really good together and it's funny and
they're very talented, but when they get into these musical numbers,
it just gets a little Yeah, some of them are weird.

Speaker 5 (48:01):
It was this paramount plusure watching it on is.

Speaker 1 (48:03):
That I don't know where I saw it and then
we just saw I think we've just had a nineteen
fifty four ed. Okay, and how about songs were just shorter?
Then we've discussed that.

Speaker 5 (48:13):
I don't know what the average length of a song
is now, but back then it was like maybe two
two and a half minutes and it was over.

Speaker 1 (48:19):
Yeah, there's a few moments in it where you're almost
pink floydish. Oh, someone just gets.

Speaker 2 (48:24):
Weird now, flying pig, I'm in on that.

Speaker 1 (48:28):
But anyway, but it's it's yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:33):
But you're right, you guys. You had to be like
not just a you, not just to be able to act.
You got to be able to sing. Not just be
able to sing, but you also got to be able
to dance. Oh yeah, not just do all that all
of those. You got to be able to play some instrument.
So you're we're talking quadruple threat. Oh not double threat threat,
quadruple threat.

Speaker 1 (48:52):
I will go this far. I think the last thing
they required of is the ability to act.

Speaker 2 (48:56):
Yeah, that's that's the least important they.

Speaker 1 (48:58):
Ever did it a little bit on their act. They did.
They weren't great actors, but they were talented people. The
one who overdes it more than anybody is Charlton Heston
and ten Commandments care bothers you. But yes, they overdoes it.

Speaker 2 (49:10):
And the women in these two I tell you what, John,
I don't know what we're going to.

Speaker 1 (49:14):
Do representing the actresses when we were all concentrating on actors.
All right, So so you believe on this debate of
what is a Christmas movie?

Speaker 11 (49:27):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (49:27):
Where are we Christian movie?

Speaker 1 (49:30):
Oh? Say Christmas did Christian movie?

Speaker 3 (49:32):
What?

Speaker 10 (49:33):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (49:33):
This is even more This is even more done the
Christmas movie thing and we have all right, but this
one I didn't Okay, wait a minute, this is brand new.
I didn't know. I didn't know that Home Alone is
considered a faith movie, a Christian movie.

Speaker 2 (49:46):
Christian wow movie.

Speaker 1 (49:48):
What do you talk about? I didn't read all that correctly.
So this is even more interesting because it's definitely Christmas. Mute.

Speaker 2 (49:55):
Wait a minute, Speedy knows what I'm talking about, good
versus evil.

Speaker 5 (49:59):
Yes, he goes to church on Christmas Eve.

Speaker 2 (50:03):
He's not Kevin. Kevin goes to the church.

Speaker 5 (50:08):
The creepy neighbor that he was evil and evil?

Speaker 2 (50:11):
Thank you? Yes, Holy Night is playing when he's in
the church. Also, they'll fall on your knees. Oh, hear
the angel voices? All that's in it? Yeah, the sanctuary candle.

Speaker 1 (50:22):
I'm sorry. All I can think about is I'm like
hitting them burglars in the head of the irons.

Speaker 2 (50:28):
That Kevin then has an encounter. You think that would
you think the old man's creepy. Some people argue that
he's a christ figure. I'll go angel, but I can't
go that far Kevin. Kevin confesses to him. At one
point his family shakes his hand. What do we see
on Marley's hand? A bandage? You guys have chills.

Speaker 1 (50:57):
When we hold it out.

Speaker 2 (51:01):
Its hand was pierced. And then at the end of
the movie, Kevin cannot save himself. He's tried, He's tried
everything under the sun to save himself. He can't. You
know who can? The old man that comes back, the
christ figure in the movie, it's a Christian movie, hits

(51:23):
him with a shovel of truth. We've heard about that
in the Bible, helmet of righteousness, the shovel of truth.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
By the way, when did he become Jack Black?

Speaker 2 (51:31):
See?

Speaker 1 (51:32):
When when did become.

Speaker 2 (51:37):
The Manger?

Speaker 1 (51:38):
Scene?

Speaker 6 (51:40):
It is?

Speaker 2 (51:41):
I mean, it's guys, it's a it's not only a
Christmas movie, it's a Christian movie. So you see what
you'll say, Look all wow, look at the crosses.

Speaker 1 (51:52):
A lot of crosses.

Speaker 2 (51:53):
A lot of people in that church, not a lot
of people can I.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
Say this, their commitment of the community to the Christmas
Eve service is not very good. And there's the old
man in Kevin.

Speaker 5 (52:02):
It's a lot of practice for three people there.

Speaker 2 (52:05):
There's like fifty people in that choir, and there's four
people in the church.

Speaker 1 (52:09):
But here he comes out extra.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
See, guys, it's a Christian movie, not just a Christmas I've.

Speaker 1 (52:15):
Never heard that before, never heard that angle before.

Speaker 2 (52:20):
I just it popped across my feet and I wanted
to say it in a dramatic way.

Speaker 1 (52:24):
You do it, Okay, yeah, okay, all right, well, thank you.
I see that movie in a whole different light.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
I remember being a kid, and when the burglars are like,
I'm gonna bite your fingers off, kiddy, I'm just like, nah,
turn it off, off the movie. But then Marley saves them,
So there you go. I'm watching it tonight.

Speaker 1 (52:44):
When we come back and shows us how Christmas Vacation
is actually a faith based movie.

Speaker 2 (52:51):

Yes, hey, guys, I'm a little late on this. I

see it wasn't this past Sunday. It was last Sunday
before this one. Tom Brady had a misspeak when he
was doing a broadcast and he almost said the N word,
but he stopped himself and there was like a one
to two second pause and he's just like, excuse me,
and then just keeps going it's pretty funny. You need

(56:49):
to look it up and find it.

Speaker 1 (56:50):
Oh no, okay, now I haven't heard that. Thanks. Uh,

wondering if I could have the privilege of Greg telling
me what I get for Christmas this year.

Speaker 1 (57:14):
Oh, I've checked, and you should get it soon. Nothing.

Speaker 2 (57:20):
I've got to Tom Brady. I got to Tom Brady.

Speaker 1 (57:23):

Speaker 2 (57:26):
He's trying to say Landon Dickerson, Okay, see and he
does it sounds like he says the N word.

Speaker 1 (57:33):
Yeah yeah, but you gotta play. He's trying to say
the guy's name.

Speaker 3 (57:39):
Yeah yeah he is, Yeah, just lasting through Nicker excuve
speed land Dickerson.

Speaker 1 (57:46):
Right, Well, he almost said Nickerson. That's a name, that's
not It wasn't that almost Dickerson. He almost said Nickerson. Right.

Speaker 2 (57:54):
I need you to stop.

Speaker 1 (57:57):
So far you're in bounding your safe right, you know
what I'm saying. No, he never Yeah, he didn't say anything.
I mean, that is a last name. It is it is.
You're right, Greg, I didn't say it.

Speaker 2 (58:08):
You just shouldn't.

Speaker 1 (58:10):
People need to chill out. Rick Burgers Show, unscreen phone calls,

Speaker 9 (58:19):
It's all fun to your friends.

Speaker 1 (58:21):
Okay, see, okay, I held that joke back the other day.
I said, great, thank you for that, because that's the
first thing that came to him. Mind you remember that
famous joke, Greg, Yeah, he just gave he did, but
I cut him off for you. The bunch of line
the funny game. Rick Burgers Show on screen phone calls, go.

Speaker 6 (58:40):
Ahead, all right, Rick, I gotta tell you about your
kissing dreams. You got it all wrong.

Speaker 7 (58:46):
Okay.

Speaker 6 (58:48):
It's a well known fact that people in Baton Rouge
listen to the Rick Burgess Show. You gave them the
idea to go after kissing.

Speaker 1 (58:57):
He's mad at you, Rick about that, not once again
being careless with the power of the show. Miss says, hey, thanks,
but I didn't even think about that. I planted that seed.
We continue. Rick Birders Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead, I.

Speaker 9 (59:13):
Just want to tell Greg happy twenty twenty five, Happy
New Year.

Speaker 1 (59:16):
Oh boy, he's already on it, okay Greg twenty six.
But yeah, he was referring by Oh is he going
all the way? Oh? I got okay, lines are opening. Yeah,
if you've been trying to get in, come on with it.
Rick Birger's show. Unscreen phone calls go ahead, Oh boy, good,
hope you're well.

Speaker 6 (59:36):
Hey so Rick, I hope you like your shirt.

Speaker 5 (59:39):
Yeah, all the shirts.

Speaker 1 (59:41):
This is Serage who gave us the shirts.

Speaker 5 (59:45):
Which ones he handed it to us when you're standing
right there. He just was on the back of him
and all the all the shirts you have you have
in your office, and I have mine okay, Yeah, there
is something do with all of our personalities.

Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Yes, very hard, very thoughtful.

Speaker 1 (01:00:04):
Oh yeah, that was it.

Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
I'm holding mine up right now.

Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
Rick. Oh yes, yes. And you know the reason why
I said that is I got one that just came in.
That's what threw me. That has the meter and it's
got the beard head on the end of it. Where'd
that come from?

Speaker 10 (01:00:17):
Sorry?

Speaker 1 (01:00:18):
That that's him? Rick? Yeah, but I wasn't here, Oh
are you not? That's when I was acting like I
was here for this.

Speaker 5 (01:00:28):
Yeah, that was concerning this makes me feel better?

Speaker 1 (01:00:30):
Well yeah, so sergeant, that was it that Nobody told
me that you left that for me. I just found
it on my desk. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:00:36):
We were at the box seats on the twenty first.

Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
Okay, well there it is, Cly. Y'all feel bad a
little bit jumping on me. I was even here, Yeah,
I thought I was. Look, you think you feel better?
I feel great. I thought i'd lost whatever loving mind.
You don't know, because I just saw it on my desk.
Nobody told me where it came from. And by the way,
y'all should all be concerned that y'all thought I was here. Yeah, yeah,

(01:01:02):
but yeah, thank you. Actually, Rick stupid the whole time
we had him here. Yeah, sorry, they were so moved.
We're trying to cover for it. You have that you
have he was danding, right, They were so moved by

(01:01:23):
and I came to work fatter on my desk. No
one ever mentioned it.

Speaker 5 (01:01:25):
I just about that because I did mention that to you.

Speaker 1 (01:01:29):
Okay, you didn't know, you didn't I did that time. Well, listen,
you're not a credible source. You thought I was here,
So anything y'all say, I'm questioning now, y'all had me
sitting right here. We were, we.

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
Were here, so we put you here. Yeah, yeah about that.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
I was here in spirit, but that didn't count. So okay,
by the way, that's a good one. On text. Uh
we continue Rick Birder's show on screen phone calls.

Speaker 9 (01:01:57):
Go ahead, question what's with skinny butt?

Speaker 2 (01:02:01):
Okay, whatever it was, I'm so glad it didn't get out.
I don't know what it was, his boy, but I'm
so glad it didn't get out.

Speaker 1 (01:02:15):
Rick, you memory came in. Look, here's mine that it
was spook me. I saw adlers. I'm like, I've never
seen that shirt before in my life. You were really
going over man. I was like, oh gush, this is it.
This is what I knew this day was coming. Thank
you all for putting me through that. Guys, that was
that was awful.

Speaker 5 (01:02:31):
I had you here so we were trying to.

Speaker 3 (01:02:34):
Cover for it.

Speaker 7 (01:02:35):
The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Last night, Monday Night Football. Let's face it, the New
York Giants, they're ugly, U g l y. You ain't
got no alibi Giants? You ugly? Hey, hey, you ugly?

Speaker 5 (01:02:56):
Young ho was even uglier? Well, Young Ho Young hol Yeah,
the kicker.

Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Oh yeah, okay, I was about to say, was there
some kind of instance you remember he got mad about
all that?

Speaker 4 (01:03:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:03:11):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't know. Something happened in the stands.
What I mean one of the cheerleaders.

Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Okay, Ad, don't look at me, sir, right.

Speaker 1 (01:03:23):
See what I'm talking about. So uh so anyway, Uh,
the Giants are horrible? And how about this? Does it
seem to you in the post Belichick era the Patriots
are having a great season? Yeah they are, and it's
like I'm not even I'm not even noticing it. They
didn't have it. They won like eight or nine in
a row. I think that was the ninth win in
a row, all over the road. And the Broncos are hot. Okay,

(01:03:46):
all right, so but but you guys are speaking of
their kicker that has the unfortunate name of Young Ho Coop. Correct.
Could be worse? Well, it could be worse, you know
if they gave that name to a sister, much worse.

Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
Yes, yeah, okay, so uh he kind of jams his
foot into the two when it.

Speaker 2 (01:04:03):
Is his first time kicking.

Speaker 1 (01:04:05):
I don't know, it's just it was an awkward moment.

Speaker 5 (01:04:07):
Here he goes and he tries to he tries to kick,
and he jams his toe into the turf and now
it gets stuck. And and now he just misses the
ball completely. His kicking foot forward and misses.

Speaker 2 (01:04:22):
The ball is the ground he just kicked to the ground.

Speaker 1 (01:04:26):
This is It's like he had a and I want
to know what battle's doing here, I mean, go get
the ball. Yes, this is I think he's shot. I
believe the defensive player for the Patriots, he should be
going after it right now. And I think he's standing
there like I can't believe what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:04:43):
Right you think it's going to be gone?

Speaker 1 (01:04:44):
He's standing right there.

Speaker 5 (01:04:45):
Yeah, John Elwake, I said it again. Troy Yekman could
not stop laughing on the broadcast. What he was laughing
on the broadcast.

Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
I don't know how that happened. He really was. He
was like he couldn't believe it. What about if this
is your team and they're having such a terrible year.

Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
And much Yeah, yeah, I had or show that again.
But use my channel Rick and play this audio while
he's showing the video.

Speaker 1 (01:05:06):
This is a really good seven.

Speaker 2 (01:05:08):
Years train out of young coding stump. I don't think
I've ever seen that.

Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
Look like it just stuck the strip right.

Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
Into the turf.

Speaker 1 (01:05:22):
I've never seen that.

Speaker 5 (01:05:23):
He lasts all the way they go to break.

Speaker 1 (01:05:25):
He's laughing all the way into the break, so it's
like he was looking off not paying attention. Then also
he realizes he's too close. I don't know, something weird.
If your team is playing as bad as they're playing,
and that happens, you just go in, there's our season
right there. Yeah, I mean yeah, I don't think I've
ever seen that. That's perfect right. This is one of
those things where you start to wonder about players helping

(01:05:46):
fix betting lines. Oh yeah, it's like if he kicks
that field, go what is the line in this game?
I mean, because it looks I mean, that looks to
my threatened his family.

Speaker 2 (01:05:58):
So we also young cool more like you suck bad.

Speaker 1 (01:06:03):
You're really on fire today, aren't you? That He doesn't
think he's on air? Yeah, and I know it feels
like he's not. Yeah, I know it's and you're just
you're just stringing so many together today. Yeah, you know,
I think that's all right.

Speaker 5 (01:06:18):
How does it pronounced young way? If it's it looks
like Ho. That's what's so weird.

Speaker 1 (01:06:23):
It's young ho. But as they say, it's pronounced young way.
Let me just tell you something. Whatever you do right now,
you just need to hit the eject button. I mean, okay,
h o e is hot, right? So what what?

Speaker 10 (01:06:33):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:06:33):
How do you correctly pronounce it young? What they did?
They said that young? What they say? I thought they
the young Yeah, they didn't say that.

Speaker 2 (01:06:42):
Play yours again.

Speaker 1 (01:06:43):
Let me say here.

Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
Young yeah, young way they say young.

Speaker 1 (01:06:54):
We don't know that. You can't it's spelled it looks
like young young. It looks like young hop, whether the
letters h o e or not way. But but I
guess in whatever what is what's his nationality? I will say?
Is Korean?

Speaker 7 (01:07:13):
Are you?

Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Yeah? I'm going let me see. Oh you say Korean? Yeah? Man,
this is where you know, there's some people that are
very good at this. When people some people a rap. No,
that's Henry Cho.

Speaker 2 (01:07:30):
Oh yeah, okay, he is South Korean?

Speaker 1 (01:07:36):
Joe, what do you say right through here? No? No,
that's nothing.

Speaker 2 (01:07:46):
I think.

Speaker 1 (01:07:48):
That's true. No, I don't know. I mean, I can't
dispute it. I don't know what's his name? The crazy
dictator from the North grail Kim. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
See you know his name is.

Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
Can you tell them it's between North and South barely?

Speaker 5 (01:08:03):
Yeah, happiness, Yeah, being fed, being fed.

Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
Usually I spot the ones from South Korea because there're
lots around, but.

Speaker 2 (01:08:14):
I don't see a lot of North Korea.

Speaker 1 (01:08:15):
No, they said, they said, he hang on right again. Yes,
there you are, yeah, there there you are, pointed running
score up all right. People by the way, people trying
to blame the holder, saying he bailed on the kick.

Speaker 5 (01:08:28):
What now the holder didn't move the ball?

Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
Yeah, leaning in but okay, now is it a fake?

Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
And and and the holder didn't get the get the
memo because look it's like going.

Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
Yeah, rick, that explains why the guy didn't rush from
the from the right side. The guy for the left
side was rushing, so they don't hit.

Speaker 1 (01:08:49):
Yeah, but when you see that kicked the ground at
the ball.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
He kicked the earth there.

Speaker 1 (01:08:55):
Now you can go the guy.

Speaker 5 (01:08:58):
But the holder didn't have any the choice but to
get up or he was going to get killed trying
to get up scream fire or something.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Oh wait, this explains that here he is a young hoku.
Here he is golfing.

Speaker 12 (01:09:11):
That's quite Yeah, exains that's ith huh so, uh okay.

Speaker 1 (01:09:23):
That's not true.

Speaker 5 (01:09:24):
I don't read those now.

Speaker 1 (01:09:26):
I'm not reading. I'm not reading what I say. You're
the one that can't get his name right? What?

Speaker 2 (01:09:31):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:09:31):
Do you not think it was? It was Young Ho?

Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
Didn't you have the audio clip you were going to
play for us? Yeah, but I hadn't listened to it.

Speaker 5 (01:09:38):
I just was like, how do you not think that's
Young Ho?

Speaker 1 (01:09:41):
Right? You know?

Speaker 5 (01:09:43):
How do you get way out of hope?

Speaker 1 (01:09:45):
I know?

Speaker 2 (01:09:45):
Well, yeah, right, great questions.

Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
I don't speak Korean. I don't know. I think you've
done enough. Now you're finally sitting out. I'm sitting You've
kicked everybody in the stands. Now you're going to sugar.
You may be sitting down, but you're sweating. Yeah, because
you've been playing you said, said she it's.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Like on your face, right, That's how he's clarifying everything
that we said.

Speaker 1 (01:10:06):
You don't have to point to you when you say it.
I was gonna go on screen phone calls here, but
I don't think.

Speaker 7 (01:10:11):
So this is the Rick Burgess show.

Speaker 1 (01:10:20):
Up there you go to get the wig. He's getting
the wig. I love when he does this. A Vox verdict.
This is uh this is something unexpected from from an
emailer today from Alex uh. So, Judge when you when
you bring order to the court, will begin with the case.

(01:10:42):
It's almost like he starts out. You think he's going
to be a pilgrim, and then he gets out the
wig and before you know it, he's turning into Judge Eagle.
So there there he is. Ok itches the wigh. Okay, okay,
Judge got your gavel? Okay, you got Okay, you got it?
Can you bring court to order?

Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
Eyskidy?

Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
Okay?

Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
Is that hows Judge Bill's land style?

Speaker 1 (01:11:03):
Okay? Here, I now need a vox verdict. Okay. If
you go with stereotypes, according to the emailer, and this
is just a stereotype, that was not my situation. My
mother in law has passed now, but he says, you know,
husbands are not all that shocked if they are betrayed
by their mother in law from time to time, But

(01:11:26):
to be betrayed by your father in law is something unexpected.
It was holiday break. Everyone was here, kids, grandkids and laws.
The whole tribe decided to go to the legendary catfish
place on the banks of the Tom Bigbie River. This
is in Alabamas. It is known worldwide for its catfish.

(01:11:47):
Politicians have eaten there, all sorts of dignitaries. Football coaches
from all over the SEC have eaten there. I mean,
it is the catfish mecca. If you're gonna eat bottom feeder,
this is the place to do it. So we drive
thirty minutes over, we walk in. It's a man's place,
set in the swamps of West Alabama, literally on the

(01:12:09):
river bank. Old wooden house that is added on to
several that's been added onto several times. Deerheads everywhere, mounted fish,
wooden tables, pepper sauce served from old whiskey bottles, no napkins,
just a roll of paper towels on each table. You
see the place wood fireplace burning. Only drinks are water
and sweet tea. Unsweet tea not even offered. It drips masculinity.

(01:12:33):
It is where men go. The place is full of
camo clad hunters. Now I understand. Before we even left
the house, we discussed it is a catfish place. You
get them holes, you get them strips, nuggets, fried broiled blacken.
It's all catfish. Everyone, including my father in law, says,

(01:12:54):
oh yeah, let's go have catfish. It's a great place.
Let's go. He said that. So after the water and tea,
come from with a bowl of slow because everyone starts
with their own bowl of fresh coat law and crackers.
We order ladies first, kids, next, then the men. We
get to the eldest member. Everyone including the four year old,

(01:13:16):
has ordered catfish. I see him looking at the menu.
Of course, the menu looks like it's forty years old.
This man of age, who retired after a lifetime of
hard work, born and raising the South, drifts down to
the kid's menu and says out loud, in front of everybody,
I'll have the kid's chicken finger basket. I was stunned.

(01:13:38):
The entire restaurant was like those old if hutting commercials.
The waitress tried to help him. She looked and asked
if this man was in some sort of weird situation.
I had to say that he was perfectly capable and
that he did have his cognitive skills. The tables next

(01:13:58):
to us scooted their seats for their back. It was
awf it was embarrassing. We had We had three sons
and a grandson present for him to set the example
and in this catfish place made for men. He orders
the kids chicken finger special. Hmm, the remainder of the weekend.
We could not let let go of this. This isn't
a matter of trying to do a little bit better

(01:14:19):
or healthy issues to work around. My goodness is chicken fingers.
This was a conscious decision. I told him this was
like walking in the coke plant and ordering a PEPSI.
I know the Bible says to honor the mother and
the father and to respect your elders, but this is
a tough test. He still maintains his innocence. I've told
him this is this is hard, but as a leader
of the family, I have to revoke his man card

(01:14:40):
and to declining senior status. Am I right? I need
a verdict? Can I Can I just let this grievance
matter pass. I need the entire team to give me
a ruling. I need a vox verdict. Was this unacceptable? Well?

(01:15:02):
He set the scene, didn't you. I can see the place.
I kind of wish I was there, kind of wish
I was there. The kids sounds hung. I'll say that
the kid's chicken finger late. I think the fact hurts that.
I'll go here. Uh yeah, the kid's part. It was
bad enough chicken when we were all jumping around fired
up about catfish. Sure enough of that, yeah, oh yeah

(01:15:25):
for sure. But the kids part, Yeah, that's unacceptable. I
think I'm with you. I think chicken's unacceptable. Yeah, I
think I let it go. Maybe if it was like
a giant fried chicken dinner, you know, that was an
option you could have, you know, a big chicken breast,
couple of legs, right, you know. And but but I mean,
he he, he said to this woman in this restaurant

(01:15:49):
dripping with masculinity. He's the elder man at the table,
and he says, I'll have the kid's chicken. That's the
next thing. He's coloring that little sheet they give you
when they bring the crape on the top. We're calling
fowl sitting there in the wood shack, calling fowl deer
heads on the wall. Now everybody here has got camel on.

Speaker 5 (01:16:07):
But your family, even if you're trying to do better
and you need to eat less, you still know where
you're going and you just well just order what for
this meal.

Speaker 1 (01:16:16):
I'm just I'm just eating like everybody. Yet, what about this?
I'll have the smallest version of catfish if you're trying
to go yeah, if you want a smaller portion, but
you can't order the kid's chicken finger plate. No inside
of catfish. I think the old man needs to be tested. Well, well,

(01:16:38):
I mean it's on the table.

Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
Let me ask you all questions. All right, Judge, I
went to, in fact, took my grandma and the whole
family to a very famous cafe here in town as well.
You're familiar with fried green tomatoes the train. Yes, so
the Irondale Cafe. But don't say this to the grandma there,

(01:17:01):
and I got fried okrah instead of fried green tomato.

Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
No, that's fine, that's all. That's not a big not everybody.
I was afraid you were going to order something weird,
like asparagus or something. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:17:10):
The fact the kids made it through this order and
they didn't even, that's a good realize.

Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
All the women order catfish, all the kids ordered catfish,
and granddaddy orders the children's chicken finger plate. I think
this is unanimous decision from the jury. We find him guilty,
and we revoke his man car.

Speaker 5 (01:17:28):
Wow for how long?

Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
His man card has been revoked for six months until
he has until he has a full six months. Can
we go to Christmas Eve?

Speaker 2 (01:17:36):
No, and he needs to get his cholesterol above seven hundred,
yes and prove it to us, right, yes, let him
back in, get his man card.

Speaker 1 (01:17:47):
Back, Yeah, pompa card. And by the way, they have
remedies for low TI yeah. Yes, yeah, how about this,
He's got to go spend some time with Frank Thomas. Yeah,
Frank Thomas, take care of this second.

Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
He needs to stop by the Iron Del Cafe and
have some fried green tomatoes.

Speaker 1 (01:18:04):
Also, all right, that's your ruin. I'm sorry, I got
it after he painted that picture. Good night. Yeah, that's
like going in for sofood and saying, y'all got a
sally Yeah, m we'll come back. Taylor Hicks.

Speaker 2 (01:18:22):
That's like putting on wrapping like a KKK meeting or something.

Speaker 1 (01:18:24):
Right, guys, No, No, that was not exactly what we're
gonna use it all. No, Taylor Hicks his neck.

Speaker 2 (01:18:31):
It's in front of Taylor. I was trying to be
funny showing off.

Speaker 7 (01:18:33):
Now he's the Rick Burgess show.

Speaker 1 (01:18:42):
Good to be back, Thanks for hanging out with us.
The big boy mine is uh fight again and there
sits Taylor hid there, y'all have holidays.

Speaker 4 (01:18:52):
Yeah, how about you bus for having me, having me
in the studio.

Speaker 1 (01:18:56):
It's been a while. We were just discussing. You were
hanging out with us in May. Yeah, at the Celebrity
program when Adler had the awkward encounter with Jamie Johnson. Yeah,
any kind of haven't heard that one? You haven't? Would
you like to tell Taylor Hicks what you're saying?

Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
I was, all right, I like Jamie Johnson a lot.
And he got there and I got nervous, and I said,
out of everybody here, I'm the most You're the most excited.

Speaker 1 (01:19:21):
You're the most got tied up, as opposed to he's
the most, the.

Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Most excited to meet you, Jamie Johnson.

Speaker 4 (01:19:27):
Serious, as long as I've known Jamie, he is the
most unexcited person that I've ever met.

Speaker 2 (01:19:33):
Makes it worse because he was not excited, you know.

Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
And I mean you couldn't tell if that guy was.
I mean, he is just the most down the middle personality,
you know, but he is. Uh, he's a great guy,
you know, but you know you can't get i mean
trying to get him to chuckle or getting him excited.

Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
Yeah, that's a feat. Yeah, not so much that was
basically a human squirrel. Didn't argue with that.

Speaker 2 (01:20:09):
He was actually really nice to me even after I
did that. Yeah, he's a good guy and eat music.

Speaker 1 (01:20:15):
Uh. And it may not have bothered him just because
this Taylor said nothing. Does you know?

Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
He introduced me on my uh on my opry debut
and uh, he and I have been buddies ever since,
and I knew him.

Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:20:28):
Interesting thing about Jamie as I was doing the House
of Blues in New Orleans right after IDOL and uh,
I walked into this little place, this little restaurant bar
area next door, and there Jamie Johnson sat. Nobody really
knew who Jamie was at the time. Jamie had Jamie
was becoming Jamie and uh, and I kind of sat

(01:20:49):
down because I knew, you know, when musicians become prominent
in Alabama, you kind of know their way, you know,
their their rise. And so I went and I just
sat with him at the bar and I said, hey,
is Taylor.

Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
I said, I.

Speaker 4 (01:21:02):
Said, you want to you want to come over? And
so he went from that sitting there having you know,
having dinner, to getting on the stage with me. And
that was probably about twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:21:12):
It was just that simple. It was that simple.

Speaker 4 (01:21:14):
I just said, hey, just get up here and saying this,
you know, just get up here and do this, because
you know the people that can really do it.

Speaker 1 (01:21:22):
He was one of the He's one of those guys. Yeah,
always ready love him to death. So, Taylor, I know
you've got some stuff coming up now tomorrow night. You're
in Franklin, Tennessee. What what what what's going on there?

Speaker 4 (01:21:33):
Well, I'm doing a show with the Little River Band,
oh old school yacht, Ronda Nelson and Wayne. They've been great.
There's a really great charity we're doing that for the
Franklin Theater is a great little theater up in Franklin.
It's real festive this time of year, that little town.

(01:21:54):
And I'm doing something for them, and then then I'm
doing the lyrics in the next coming weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:22:01):
Yeah, so let's talk. So to Franklin. Y'all enjoyed that
Little River BANDA Did you you listen to them all
the time? Oh? Yeah, all the time. I remember it
like they were just cranking out hits. Like I mean,
I went.

Speaker 4 (01:22:13):
And I went and sat in with them at the
Orion Amphitheater probably a couple of months ago. And ended
up singing reminiscing, Oh they have you know, you can
just tell you know, it's you've got. They've got ninety
minutes of hits.

Speaker 1 (01:22:32):
Oh yeah, I mean, you know, no duds, no duds.

Speaker 4 (01:22:35):
They were well, they're there. I don't know necessarily if
they were number one matter, but they were top ten hits,
and you know then within a eight or nine year span,
and you know every single one of them, and some
of them you don't know that that you thought you knew,
but you didn't know who sang them, and then they

(01:22:56):
play it and then you immediately know what the band is.

Speaker 1 (01:22:59):
And they've got great hits, no doubt. Had to blast
with them. So let's talk about the big Christmas show
that's coming to the historic Lyric Theater, which is a
really cool room if you've never been in there, old
Vaudeville theater that was refurbished and it's just great, has
a lot of incredible history. And so I was actually
with something not too long ago there. So Taylor Hicks,

(01:23:22):
it's always you're gonna do the Christmas and then you
always work in a little something else. And the Christmas
we got you're gonna do that got to do it.
So we're gonna do Van Morrison. We're gonna do Van.

Speaker 4 (01:23:32):
I haven't done Van and shoot quite some time. I'm
coming up on ten years at the Lyric Theater supporting
Marines toys for tops. Oh yeah, they come out, The
Marines come out dressed in all the blues, and that's
a really special moment because you know, those guys work
pretty hard at getting those toys for those kids.

Speaker 1 (01:23:55):
Around the holidays.

Speaker 4 (01:23:57):
They go to a bunch of different locations and they
picked those toys up for those kids, and you know,
I'm I'm just blessed to be a part of it.
And Van Morrison was something that you know, I'm my
band is a little bigger this time because my Van
Morrison's a little you know, he had a horn band,
so I haven't. I haven't played with a horn band

(01:24:18):
in a while, just because I'm just depending on.

Speaker 1 (01:24:20):
What the standard horn people you go to I do.

Speaker 4 (01:24:23):
Yeah, yeah, I actually got some horn players in town
that's gonna play. And then obviously Johnny Coolenich is gonna play.
So I'm excited about doing Van Morrison. You know, it's
it's usually a pretty hard sell out, but I've got
some tickets left, and I figured I'd make the rounds
and tell everybody about toys for touns and tell everybody
about the show.

Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
All right. So I remember we were it was way
back in the Rick and Bubby years when we were
on Turner South, which is way back, and we were
they had this thing where we would go and do
shows from different southern places, and we were in South
Carolina was it Greenville? And and so we were downtown

(01:25:00):
doing the show and they introduced us to this up
and coming band and they they sat down and they
played and and I remember talking to the guys and
I was like, you know, I love what these guys
are doing, but I don't know how they're going to
get any airplay because they sound like Van Morrison. And
what what radio modern day would play Van Morrison? It

(01:25:25):
was Zach Brown Band. Yeah, And so so if if
Van Morrison came out today, he would likely be a
country artist, probably with some of the stuff. I know,
some of the stuff wouldn't be but like you you
know what I mean, there's that vein in Zach Brown
Band that sounds very and I know they even do
the one song where they go into you know, into

(01:25:45):
the mystic and all that. You know, when they do
what is it? Because I'm afraid as I love, Yeah,
and they go into into the mystic so uh so yeah,
Van Morrison, it's a very unique sound. But you know,
I guess it would be country now.

Speaker 4 (01:26:02):
Probably, so yeah, I mean that the singer songwriter, the
soulful singer songwriter that's got some roots and that's got
some I mean, you know, Twoolo Honey by Van Morris
is basically a country record. You know, it's I mean
between two polo honey and into the mystic and uh
straight to your heart like a cannon ball. And I

(01:26:24):
mean I grew up really digging into that music and
trying to emulate you know, Van Morrison. But yes, uh
Van probably in the States would have been a would
have been geared toward a country country record.

Speaker 1 (01:26:38):
All right, let's talk about so you and I. I'm
am I older than you. I can't remember, but let's
just go with that. Okay, we're around, you know, but
we're from that same era. Yeah, so people and Greg
talks about this all the time too. We tell the
younger folks, is that you didn't see artists ever? You
know there you might get an album and look see

(01:26:59):
if there's a picture of him on it. But a
lot of times you would never see them. You know,
it's not like now where you've seen every new artist
there is, because you know, there was no MTV.

Speaker 4 (01:27:07):
There was nothing when they go to the bathroom, right, right.

Speaker 1 (01:27:10):
And so do you remember the first time that you
were like all into Van Morrison and you saw him.
You talk about somebody who does not look yeah, I
mean he's not cool at all. There's a reason why
we didn't see He's an odd looking fellow, you know.
But I mean you can't believe all that's coming out

(01:27:30):
of this little short yeah, stocky yeah, you know, Irish, Yeah,
not very good hair and and got but fantastic. I
love he's great.

Speaker 4 (01:27:41):
He's great and it's good for you know, the music
is going to be great. It kind of lends itself
to the holiday feel. And you know he's got you
want to talk about hits, I mean he's got, oh,
he's got plenty of hits. But I usually, you know,
I'll usually weave in some Christmas classics and yep, dull
little Elvis and uh, I always like to do the stage,

(01:28:02):
you know, the lyrics such a beautiful theater. Yeah, to
dress up and all the Christmas stuff, and to be
able to do it in the sweet spot between you know,
the first of the December and then then the end
of December. Right there at December twelfth, right there on
a Friday night, It's it's special for me and I
get to see family and friends, and you know, I'm

(01:28:23):
excited about get putting those toys together. You can bring
bring a toy for toys for tides. We fill the
big box up and hopefully we'll brighten the kids holiday up.

Speaker 1 (01:28:33):
Yeah. And you get a great show too, and in
this in this theater and only see its about what
seven hundred and fifty Yeah, so every I mean it's
a really intimate I mean you're there, Yeah, wherever you're sitting,
you're you're hit is great, You're in the action.

Speaker 7 (01:28:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:28:46):
So so there was a few tickets that are left.
Uh so you just go to Taylor Hicks.

Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
Taylor Hicks dot com or a lyricbm dot com.

Speaker 1 (01:28:53):
Okay, and then Franklin tend to say you can find
information there too, or anything else that Taylor's doing.

Speaker 5 (01:28:58):
And the show is that yeah, you firs open it
like seven.

Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
Yeah, and so yes, doors open at seven. We'll do
a little thing. I usually like to go and sign
merch at the end, so you'll see me up around.

Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
Have your holidays y'all, and hey, there's some mountet Nations says, look,
we'll be there. Come good Taylor Hicks. Let's rock and
roll but always fun to get together. You'll yeah, Lyric
b Ham dot com or Taylor Hicks dot com. December twelfth,
eight o'clock. Uh, and bring a toy, help a kid,

(01:29:31):
and get a great night of wonderful music and including
some Christmas music to get you ready for Christmas. We'll
be right back more the show right after this.

Speaker 7 (01:29:43):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:29:51):
What are we thinking? We now turn the show over
to you, even though we're professionals and you're not. You
got no idea what's going on out there, but you
know what. You come in here reckless, no screener between
you and us, and then we make decisions on the
quality of your phone call in real time. It's yeah,

(01:30:14):

we see what happens If the phone is ringing, that
means you're already in the number is eight eight eight
the number six big Vox. That's eight eight eight six
two four four eight six'. Nine that's the same number
you can text with as. Well but right now it's

(01:30:36):

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
