of our logos kind of blended in to the Camo pattern.

(01:16):
First time I've warned this one. I was worried that
others may have it on today since we all have these.
But got a little cooler back back here in the
Deep South, so wearing that today, this and all the
other stuff available there in the store. You just click
on shop or you can text the word store and
the link will come to you. And thank you for

(01:37):
all the feedback that we continue to get as we
have completed thirty shows and today show thirty one, and boy,
is it going to be an active week. Hope, hope
all of you are doing well. Welcome back fellas. How's
everybody ever? Bye? Good bye, good.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
Looking, good man, feeling good?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Rank you? So the a couple of items here on
the table right out of the gate. So it's going
to be an active week. So you know, sometimes when
you when your things are being asked and you're committing
to them, you don't know, it never fails. I've tried
over the years to keep things from piling up on

(02:16):
top of each other, and I just can't seem to
pull it off, because you know, people want to do
things when they want to do things, which means there's
times of the year that are very popular for certain things.
As I've said many times, and I love, love, love
all that we do, and the wonderful it's not something
we have to do, it's something we get to do

(02:36):
in participating in in men's ministry, you know, with the
Maanchurch dot com which launched you know, now this is
the fifth year of that are our fifth anniversary is
coming up in March. But so we have a lot
this week because this month is very sought after by
this the strategy of men's ministry. Because deer season has ended,

(02:58):
football has ended, Turkey season in baseball, and spring sports
have not started yet. Okay, Now for some of the folks,
you know, like when your son's playing college, for some reason,
they start college baseball in January. None of us know why.
But but anyway, so I just don't think of, you know,
the boys of winter. Here come the boys of winter.
We literally, we literally call baseball players the boys of summer.

(03:22):
But anyway, so this week is uh, hey, it's active.
It's gonna be active the next two weeks. It's been
an active month. So Lord Willing, I'm going to uh,
South Carolina on Thursday night, uh, and I've got updates
on that for those of you. They said that they
are almost sold out, but there are still some tickets

(03:43):
available and so if you want to get those, you
go to Burgess Ministries dot com and the link is there.
So that's in Lexington, South Carolina, north Side Baptist Church.
Then I will come back here and do the show
Friday morning, and then we will as far as Adler
cannot go this weekend, but Speedy, Greg and I and

(04:03):
the rest of the team on Team Man Church will
head to Panama City for Friday night and half a
day Saturday Men's conference. So that's gonna be that's gonna
be a little turnaround. Yeah yeah, now take the day Friday. Yeah.
So so anyway, now it's it's you know that you
know what we talk about all the time, and I'm
not talking about sickness, but I'm just talking about other

(04:25):
things that we're committed to. And I think I told
you all this a long time ago. So now and
if I'm in that position, I try to live that
out too.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
You know.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
It's a it's a concept of you know, not asking
other people do anything you're not willing to do. But anyway,
something we learned from Dad Greg. But anyway, so I
remember the time that I went into my boss and
started telling about all the other things I committed to
in my personal life, and he looked at me and said,
that's not my problem. What I need you is when
you're here to do your job, and you know that
the things, the things you do away from here, that's

(04:54):
that's hey, that's on you. You created all that, you know.
So yeah, my, my, what I pay you for? I
just want you to do yeah, right, So yeah, you
know it's I'm the one that agreed to this stuff.
So I can't make y'all carry that load, you know
what I mean? So I will. And there's been many

(05:16):
y'all know this, y'all been with me for a lot
of years. I can't recall a time that I missed
the show because I was speaking somewhere, you know, and
and it got back a little late, and I want
a little more sleep. So so anyway, so the I
can't put that on you. I have responsibilities here. I
remember that. I told you the time that Bones, who's
our road manager, was planning out one of these. It

(05:37):
was in twenty twenty one, the year that the schedule
almost killed me because we were trying to make up
the pandemic and what was already on the books. And
I will never forget it. He goes, Well, I don't understand.
He goes, You're in Florida, Sunday night, right, and then
you got to be in Texas, in destin Monday and
then in Texas Monday night. Why don't we just go

(05:58):
on from Florida to Texas? And I said, you ever
you ever heard the show? I said, yeah, yeah, you
ever heard of my day job? So so that what
happens did what happens did on Monday. He goes, you
know what, I completely forgot about that, and so so anyway,
but you know that's that's the way I look forward
to it. I fact they'll be fun. And I will
tell you looking in Panama City and I'm gonna watch

(06:18):
you too this week because I'm doing room assignments, okay,
and right now, have you and Greg rooming together? Watch it?
And uh so y'all gonna be room doggies and so
right and yeah, right, so I don't know, but if
I but look Greg, I'm gonna trade just like remember
your parents. No, if y'all cain't act right, let me
ask you that thees room. Yeah, I was watching some

(06:39):
of these texts last night. Somebody took a shot at me.
I gave you my lanyard. Remember at the end of
the last time you were supposed to turn them in
last you didn't. We had this discussion, this is not
good before we left Rick Squinton, and then you were like,
either gonna turn them back in and they were gonna
give them back to us. But up there at the yes,
because we were like, do I keep the land? You
now give them to me?

Speaker 5 (06:58):
And I gave my this is the all access lanyards
that we had.

Speaker 2 (07:02):
Yeah, I don't know that. I think you. I thought
I thought we turned them in. I didn't take any
of those home with me. Here we go. So I
think both both much. We need know what I'm talking
so much better. I don't think I think that the
people who gave them to us Iron he'll less than
his bunch. I think we gave him all back. I
know I gave him mind to you.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Yeah, but then if you gave them back to Less,
then why did Less say yet? Last night, Greg, I
hope you kept up with your would why would he say?

Speaker 2 (07:31):
I think? I think I think Less actually has them
and he thinks he doesn't have them. I think because
I don't know, because I don't even know where mine is.
This is so do you have yours?

Speaker 6 (07:42):
Speaking?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (07:43):
Yeah, we we kept him because the whole turn in
thing I think is a figament of the Burgess brother's imagination.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Right, this is kind of what they do.

Speaker 5 (07:51):
I'm sorry they create enough like pandomia and confusion where
nobody knows what happened.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
I remember giving them to you and you were gathered
them landfill now because you know, you know what the
odds of that probably are that they I'll tell you
where they are. They're probably in the green room at
Gardendale and now somebody's got them. Why would y'all live
and take them off before you leave? I don't remember.
Why not just wear them to the Yeah, yeah, I don't.
I don't remember that. It seems like that if I

(08:19):
was taking them up, then I would have turned them
all in.

Speaker 7 (08:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
You may have set all access on it, and then
it's had all three date all three places. It was
a multi use lanyard.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Yeah, very easy. Just tooking my truck and dropped it
in that. Yeah, and that's what I wanted to kind
of turned them in. I'm gonna I'm gonna look in
my truck and see if they're there, But I don't.
I don't. Usually what I do is they're gonna let
you in. Maybe I'll just get out of you know, yeah, yeah,
do this grade? You get adlers today? Okay, if he's
got it, and then I'll worry about mine. But but

(08:50):
what I think, because I think I'm good. But the
other part, though, is that normally I do what you
are talking about. I just go and hang it on
my review mirror. For some reason, we had this idea
we're supposed to turn him in. I remember the conference
lest Bradford does not have them. Okay, I don't remember
what happened to him. I really don't.

Speaker 5 (09:07):
So let's see, y'all are the two that had him?
So you had to remember I.

Speaker 2 (09:10):
Gave mine to him. I do remember. Let me tell
you something. You you could tell me right now that
aliens came down, and do I remember us getting on
the spaceship walking around a little bit. That's how much
I remember the fact that it hit me when the
text and I was like, how about this? I'm a
little shot. You remember I couldn't one of them. I didn't,

(09:32):
So sorry, last unless Greg's gonna get adverse and I'll
see if I can find them somewhere. I don't know.

Speaker 1 (09:39):
This is the Rick Burgers show. Only in America could
be swore men. Do this for a living God bless America.

(10:04):
This is the Wick Budgets should.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
That's right, baby. We're glad that you're all here today.
Thank you so much for taking time to hang with us.
Stories from the weekend coming up, stories that happen here
in our personal lives, or we'll definitely update you what's
happening around the world too. It's all here. Somebody on

(10:29):
the text line, it's a good one. Somebody says, I
have two man church conference all access lanyards from the
Birmingham conference. I would be willing to sell those to
Rick and Greg two spins of the wheel. That's smart,
right there. We can do that. Also, Bones, Bones just
checked in. Who's the road manager? Bone said, he does

(10:50):
not have our lanyards, but he thinks in this truck
he has one of the speaker's lanyards. So between that
and at or we got lanyards. He's gonna check and
make sure said that we never. I never gave them
to him, And and well, and I like you were
car had a box. But then I got to see
you have to understand I did a grip and grin
at the end. Yeah, you and I were together but

(11:12):
at that point Bones left me, you might remember, and
he text me and he said uh. And I said,
I said, are you are already gone? He said, yeah,
I'm tired and uh. And then he said what do
you do? And I said, well, I'm still back here
with Greg. We're gonna talk to until the last man leaves,
you know, sort of like Jesus would do. Uh and
so some of the uh and and so and where's

(11:32):
my land? Right? And so anyway, I don't know that
the odds are to me if that happened, and we
went out and we did the grip and grin, which
we did, and the good news is there was a
lot of people there, so we're there for a while.
Either it was it was gathered up when everybody was
taking everything down, or I just never went back to
the green room and left him in there. That's possible. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
So so I'm just in my mind of playing it out.
So where so does this sound foreign to y'all? Where
I'm to the truck and put them in the elbow
rest and then the next time you need it, you
take it out of the elbow rest and you put
it back on.

Speaker 2 (12:07):
Yeah, I don't even know. That's what we normally did. Yeah,
I don't even know. Here's what I think happened to me.
And I don't know why. You know who started the conversation.
Usually I just go out if when it's my turn
to speak, I'll go out with it on. And then
sometimes i'll get the you want to take the lanyard off,
and so I think for the last session, I took
it off and and you'd already giving me yours because

(12:30):
it was the last deal or whatever or whenever it was.
And I and I don't think I ever went back
and retrieved it. I don't. I don't know. That was
when we were done, the last man had left. We
had a conversation that we need to turn these in
right that I have mine? Then yes, okay, So I
put that to you and you were like okay. Well
then I went to the truck with them, so they
may be in the truck. I'll go look in the truck, like, listen,

(12:58):
I don't like this box scenari you're throwing in because
if I put it in a box, I think you
were carrying a box. What am I doing with the box?

Speaker 3 (13:06):
A shoe box?

Speaker 2 (13:08):
That was me? I was carrying the box because the
pictures and all that, and so do you think carrying
the pictures box? Yeah, they could be, Greg, I don't know,
because where's the picture I was caring. No, Look, I
was carrying the picture box. You were supposed to turn
the lanyard. Well, if I went to the truck with
the lanyards, they may be in there, unless unless I
went to the bathroom and left them in there. By
the scenat, this is just not a strong area for me,

(13:32):
are you I know it's not it's not I see. No,
they're not gonna be in the box. I had Okay,
yeah they're not. I'm gonna look around.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
I put my lanyard on my bulletin board because I
actually care about manchurds.

Speaker 2 (13:44):
Greg. Thank you all right, buddy, yes so much. Oh yeah,
you are right in. You walk right on the I
don't know if you know the definition of care that
cares about the manjor so much. He's not going.

Speaker 3 (14:01):
So you may bring good points to the table.

Speaker 2 (14:04):
There a somebody there not in the picture. I knew
that wouldn't because I was carrying the picture box. Somebody
said gave it to Rick and he threw it in
the trash.

Speaker 7 (14:11):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (14:11):
The parking pass again.

Speaker 2 (14:12):
It is it's all over again. Too late, too late,
That was long ago. I would say, would you go
home on my trash can again? All right?

Speaker 5 (14:19):
Well now, I mean you know, we could take a
lot of guests out of it. If we just check
your we will your truck, we will, I will find it.
And if not, the good news.

Speaker 2 (14:26):
Say why you want to get it off your neck? Greg?
Was it burning or something. I just thought that they
would say, we'll keep up with these until the next event.
We'll give them back to you, like they don't trust
us keep up with him, which is they were correct.
They were correct. I should have taken them up. In
my mind, it sounded like when you said that that
I would have. Of course I don't know me, because
I can't remember me from that day. I would have said, oh,

(14:47):
if that's the case, I'm turning them back in to
Bradford in the game, because that way they'll have them
and we can get them back. But Bradford says he'd
never got I thought that.

Speaker 5 (14:54):
Y'all are working out and this is brilliant, and so Burgess,
you're gonna find a way to work.

Speaker 2 (15:00):
It's not y'all's fault. Well, you know, and you're working.

Speaker 5 (15:02):
You're trying to work the scenario out to where y'all
gave them to somebody.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
You know what I'm saying, or left I'm playing. I've
noticed Rick has no recollections. I may be writing a
script and not know it just to help me out, right, right, No,
I promise I did.

Speaker 8 (15:18):
All right.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
Can I tell you this, Rick actually took it off
my necks and give me that, but go too far?
Can I tell you this, You're very believable, and I
want you to know you're believable. If I if I
were a juror right now, I would believe you. Yeah,
and I realized And also this is not an area
like if somebody said, you know, we were accusing Rick
of something that normally isn't being past. Yeah, I would

(15:41):
really be defending myself. But I have nothing. I mean,
you know, you could present juror after I mean witness
after witness to the jury of the things I've lost,
and before it's over, I'd be convicted. So there's no
doubt that I am not the person to be in
charge of anything. Needs to get back to another place. No,
you're right, I mean I'm terrible at this awful. So

(16:04):
you make it sitting it was in left in that church.
You think somebody might have said, hey, y'all need well, No,
they probably thought, well, the conference is over. Yeah, they
told them. It's whose fault?

Speaker 9 (16:11):
Is this?

Speaker 2 (16:12):
Ultimately my fault?

Speaker 3 (16:13):
Not keeping up with my person cleaning the sanctuary's fault,
right guy?

Speaker 7 (16:16):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Dog, Apparently I had my lanyard and also my little
baby brothers and I lost. But you know what with
with the fact that als not prioritizing man church this week. Yeah,
and apparently Bones has got he He drove Hugh Freeze
back to the airport. He's got the one Hugh had.
If we get those two, we're back. That's true. Huge frustrations.
Not still on the land. This is good, y'all cut up.

Speaker 3 (16:42):
A lot of rocks are being thrown and a lot
of hands are being hidden.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Oh yeah, this is great. Well, this is what happened.
When you get injured, you just start lashing out, and
you know who, you lash out at those you love
the most. So y'all should feel great, Right.

Speaker 3 (16:56):
People hurt people.

Speaker 2 (16:57):
But I really don't know why we didn't. Gregg, somebody
says on the text, check the backseat of Greg's truck.
You'll find it laying right next to the vegetables from
Rix garden. But he never took to his parents. You
hear all this. We have a terrible history, awful his line.
I'm really terrible. How about this. If somebody should have
looked up and said, wait a minute, is that bird

(17:18):
just giving something to that bird? Just that that one's
supposed to keep up for both of them, and he's
going to give it to someone else. Just take everything
away from them and keep it. Really, at the end
of l it's your fault, is it? Really? Well, you
know better. You should have taken care of us. You
should have taken these from us and said I put
those in my office and you let us down. That's good.
That's good. So close your eyes.

Speaker 5 (17:40):
Rick, close your eyes and you're walking out of Gardendelle
Baptist Church.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Do you have them on your neck? You're have it
in your hand. You don't show he's got his eyes closed. Well,
and Andy getting your truck and what you what's the
first thing? People talking to me in the parking lot.
And that's never good. So now he's deflecting. So now
I'm distracted. Distracted. Got a call from sherry about picking
something up on the way home for us to have
for lunch. Till you remember all that, but you don't

(18:05):
remember what you do with then well I can see
all that. See when that stuff starts, I could, I
literally literally could have hung them on a bush outside
you That's true and never even known it. It's just
some I could have walked out the next day, dude
and the landscaping around the church said, what in the world, Yeah, past,
why is this hanging on the holly bush? What we

(18:27):
put all the guessing to rest? We go check your
truck next, It's on me. At the end of it all,
it's on me, and I take full responsibilities. You can
see the bottom of the hour, will be right back.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (18:47):
All right. So this is probably I get probably more
response every time I do this commercial because I know
so many of us, so many of us have been
through this. And that is when either you you know,
are someone you love begins to lose their hearing, what
do we run into, Well, we run into the fact
that you want to help them because you're losing them

(19:09):
in the family. They can't participate in conversations anymore. I
remember when dad went through this. You know, we started
kind of losing access to him and his hilarious, you know,
contributions to conversation when he got to where he couldn't
hear what we were talking about. But then you start going,
all right, I'd love to get some hearing aids for

(19:29):
my loved one or for yourself. And you go to
a clinic and the clinics, look, they're wonderful people, but boy,
their prices are crazy, and you think, well, gosh, I
mean I want to be able to hear, and I
want my loved one to be able to hear, but
I can't afford these things. Well, this is great news today.

the twenty twenty five Man Church Conferences. Two powerful weekends

(21:37):

changing weekend in Panama City or Atlanta now at themanchurch

Speaker 10 (21:45):
Were you here?

Speaker 3 (21:51):
We go the mom of the.

Speaker 8 (21:55):
Wedding.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
So we are rolling through another great Burgess show and
we are so thankful that you are here. It is
going to be an active week and now we look
forward to seeing you all over the country if you're
coming to any of the things this week South Carolina
Thursday night, Panama City, Florida this weekend. All right, so

(22:19):
we do have a lot to unpack. I will tell
all of you I've done the thing. It was a
great George Carlin bit way back in the day when
he was talking about when you lose things, which has
been a big part of my life and Greggs. We've
lost a lot of things, and that is that you
continue to go back and check where it should have been.
So I want you all to know that I have

(22:39):
checked over and over again where those lanyards should be,
and they're just not there. So we'll work that. That
says Gary had one. Can you get yours back from Gary?
Who knows where Gary's went? Hey, ain't look, I ain't
getting on that plane. There's a new thing Gary. Apparently
from this weekend. A lot of you saw him in
Nashville at the National Wildlive Turkey Federation whatever that thing was,

(23:07):
and he said, hey, I got I got a funny story.
I want to run it by you first, and I'm like,
go oh boy. So now there's some weird scenario that Gary. Hey,
now there's a buddy of mine down there in Florida.
And he says we might go fishing this weekend. If
he does, I might stop by. So now, but I
ain't flying. That was his last thing. But I ain't flying. Okay,

(23:30):
So he's now there's a maybe Gary will come, maybe not.
I don't know, but we'll work it out. Like I say,
all we need. Adler was very very responsible, kept up
with his speedy. You were very responsible. You kept up
with yours. Greg and I pretty much did what everybody
expected us to do. We lost ours, and that that's

(23:52):
pretty much standard. I will say this. I just got
a text from the team. They said Greg did the
right thing in this situation and did the wrong thing. Hmm.
I was trying to do good. Yeah. And somebody said,
shouldn't you apologize to Big Love because he threw away
his passport at that time? Yes, remember I should.

Speaker 5 (24:08):
It's a family trait and this maybe he couldn't help it.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
No, you're right, this is something. This is just not
a strong area. You know how when everybody's you've got
areas you're strong in, you got areas you're not well have.
We all have strengths and deficits, and when it comes
to keeping up with things, major deficits. See, I was
trying to avoid losing it by turning it back in,
but giving it to you was maybe I should have
given somebody else. Looking back, let me tell you what
not to do out there, folks. If you want to

(24:32):
keep up with something, one thing you shouldn't do is
to take any and give it to the person that
may be worse than you. Yeah, at keeping it with
something you're really going to give somebody like I should
have been given to Speedy. Yes, I know why. It
was it lanyard hot or something. You had to get
it off for some reason. I thought, hey, they need
to keep these right. Well, we were kind of we
were telling everybody all credit. We were told they needed

(24:54):
to last for three conferences. So I thought, well, good,
let's turn them back in. I reissue. I really I
think iron he was trying to pass this off on us.
So your way of turning them in is to leave
them in the green room, are somewhere, are hanging on
the holly bush right outside. So uh So, anyway, look,
we'll got it covered, we'll get it handled, y'all. Don't y'all,
don't worry about this and don't even think nothing about it.
Uh So I do know this, Greg, you you slept

(25:16):
well last night. And I know that for a fact
because you got a helix uh uh sleep dot com
slash big Vox mattress. You know you slept through that storm? Yeah?
How about that. I was in the helix and it
was storming outside. I never woke never. Yeah, we had
some A lot of the Deep South and a lot
of places had some rough storms over the weekend. And

(25:37):
you slept right through, right through it, right through it.

Speaker 7 (25:39):
I did.

Speaker 2 (25:39):
I never heard anything. I got up. There's water everywhere,
and I was like, when done? Ap wigs.

Speaker 3 (25:44):
Branches on the roof.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
Yeah, so so many branches, so much outre yep there.
So here's how this works. It's real simple. There's a
sleep quiz and it only takes just a few minutes
for you to fill it out. They want to know
how you sleep on your stomach, your back your side.
They do want to know what kind of mattress you
like too. Some people like a soft mattress, some people
like a firm mattress. Somebody says I'd like something in between.

(26:07):
They take that into account. If you're big and tall,
they take that into account. If it's for a child,
they take that into an account. All of this is
customized for you. Then send right to your door. No
charging on the shipping. Shipping is free. You have one
hundred nights to sleep on it to be sure you
love it, and you will and you keep it or
if you don't, they'll refund now right now because it

(26:28):
is President's Day. Forgot about that by the way, because
I have no kids in school today ever cared about Presidence?
Not really. Hey, happy Presidents Day, Thank you buddy. It's
twenty seven percent off right now. Go to helic sleep
dot com slash big Box, so right to you at
twenty seven percent off. So go ahead and make that

(26:51):
move right now by going to helic sleep dot com
slash big Box, or just use our link at Rick
Burgess Show dot com under the sponsors. But all right,
we'll I'll send out timelines today on on what what
all we're doing this week. I can't find land.

Speaker 8 (27:09):
Nope.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
In a minute, I'm gonna look where it should be again. Yeah,
it just one more time. Okay. So if you knew
how many times I've looked that little book where I
hang them, I keep going over and you know what,
I have every lanyard from every conference I've ever been
to except this week. There you go. I think I
probably got a few land around. Yeah. So anyway, we'll uh,
we'll deal with that now. A couple of things from
the weekend and we'll get into it coming up.

Speaker 11 (27:29):
You know.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
I went to Hotlanta. I know it is President's Day today,
and I think that's one thing that you guys brought
up when when your kids leave the school system and
or if they don't get a job with the government,
you really never know these kind of days are coming.
I was at church on Sunday and I walked over

(27:51):
to uh, to Blake Prime, who I'm sure he kept
up with his lanyards we gave him. He was right
beside he was uh anyway, So he he said to
me he was teaching Sunday. We co teach, and it
wasn't my Sunday. And he said, well, He said, you know,
I'm sure crowds will be a little down today in
our sons suit class. I said, what are you talking about?
I said, the weather's gone through now it's it's fine. Now. No,

(28:13):
I'm not talking about the weather. You know, three day weekend?
I said, three day weekend? What three day weekends in February?
He said Present's Day? And I think I said that
don't even count. I said, that's not going to buy her.
Attendant said, who goes somewhere on President's Day weekend? Am
I right? Did they? Did they take Lincoln and Washington
and cottonbo At? Correct?

Speaker 3 (28:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (28:33):
Originally it was the celebration of Washington's birthday. But it's
the third Monday of February. But they had Lincoln. He
was in this second three. The day might fluctuate a
little bit, but it's always the third Monday of February.

Speaker 2 (28:42):
Because I always bring up when I was in the
third grade and I was we had to play February
on trial and the other months from that of February
because they only had twenty eight days, and I was
the defense attorney defending it, and a couple of my witnesses,
one was George Washington, and one was a round. Okay,
let me tell you how you were overlooked for an
a war words. Oh my goodness for you playing the
lawyer that defended February. Yes, gosh, probably your greatest role

(29:05):
in school plays. There's no doubt they gave out awards
I would have gotten. But of course I played doctor Faith.
Oh you love that one? Yeah, doctor Faith. But uh
and somehow I was tied Dave Pham Lincoln. Do you remember?
Do you remember? I think it was the year before,
like second grade. I was in one and I had
the last line of the play Save Me the drumstick. Yes,
I do little record save ship. Why do think he

(29:33):
put me in stuff?

Speaker 3 (29:34):
I had? Funny Greg, I.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
Remember going over my lines. Mother getting so mad at me,
because you know how I get frustrated and I would
I would claim I ain't doing it and I throw
the thing and he was mad. Yeah, but I finally
got it. You did in that one. You did a
great job. What February was on trial? Recor, I had
to do something, and that the Cupid came out, I
think Cupid boy Scouts and Holiday. Sure groundhog came out, Yes,

(30:02):
the groundhog came out. Yeah, and Greg. Greg was just
showing it. February shouldn't be I mean, it's one of
our mostly twenty eight days. But there's a lot happening
making funny. That's right. Yeah, that's great. Yeah. I found
when we were removing Mom to Birmingham, Mom and Dad,
I found the old script from February on Trials you
did you didn't say the drumstick somewhere that that was

(30:27):
the one that was how about this? I don't know
where anything is. I don't know who the first comedian
who ever said it was, but what a good when
the first time I heard it is you know, and
that wasn't then, but now you know it's also a
Black History Month. And when the comedian made the point
that when they decided to do Black History Month, they
picked the shortest month. Gol, that's funny. That that is

(30:47):
very funny. I don't care who you are. It's funny.
Kind of like on the Peanuts, ain't through Franklin on there.
He never could say anything. I think Chris Rock said
that one didn't. I mean they got frankly. They were
saying party he goes now snoopies in there dancing.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
There.

Speaker 2 (31:09):
So so anyway, Bember it's got a lot going on.
So I didn't I didn't know this was a three
day weekend. I hain't no idea. All that means to
me is the male's gonna be messed up again this week.
They can't go to the bank. You can't go to
the bank.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
My wife's a teacher. She's had this on board the
last decade of our relationship, Drom and every year she
surprises me the Sunday of the night before. You know,
that's just these guys being dudes, Right.

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Guys, that's right, guys.

Speaker 12 (31:33):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 2 (31:34):
So happy presence, David, if you do that.

Speaker 1 (31:36):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, God Fearing and America lovely,
The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (31:57):
Yeah, thanks for being with us today. Things to remember.
Also this past weekend, episode five of our brand new podcast,
Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits and Radio Goal. So another
hour of some of the greatest moments in Rick and
Bubba history. The thirty one years of all of us

(32:19):
doing the Rick and Bubba Show and all those who
worked for it over the years. Some of those outstanding,
unforgettable moments are now in their own podcast. And if
you don't have it. Get it wherever you get podcasts,
just look for Rick and Bubba and you'll see it
there in episode five. Adra got that out this weekend,

(32:39):
So if you haven't grabbed that, go do that. All right.
So also over the weekend, over the weekend, we had
the Daytona five hundred, and so President Trump was there
for the Daytona five hundred and you know, we talked
about that a little bit last week before we headed
into the weekend. So the winner of the dayton of

(33:02):
five hundred is a repeat, right, Yeah, he won last year.
Will Byron, will Will Barron, William Barron, Well Will. It
was buddies call him Will. So I don't I'm not
familiar with him other than there was that great Netflix
Netflix series. What was it called Speed or something? You
just throwing speed out.

Speaker 3 (33:20):
There for speed Yeah, that was it.

Speaker 2 (33:24):
F one Yeah, but anyway.

Speaker 3 (33:25):
Fast and the Furious, Yeah, but it.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
Was that was not it. But anyway, that's when I
became because a lot of these younger drivers I don't
even know, and and I know that dayton of five hundred.
It was two really young guys come into the wire there,
but it got delayed.

Speaker 5 (33:40):
Right there was between the weather and yellow flags and
all this guy I think was one lap left, there
was another wreck, so this one went into overtime laps
and uh, I think on the final lap in overtime
I counted there were two wrecks and they just kept
it green. Yeah, and guys were wrecking all behind them,
just dust and guy spinning everywhere.

Speaker 2 (34:01):
He laps on the top.

Speaker 3 (34:06):
Catching somebody's catching out there.

Speaker 13 (34:08):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (34:10):
I thought Hamling might hold on in way, but he
got caught up in that wreck at the end. And
that one there was with the one lap left or
five to go, and uh, that is that? This is
he he actually hit a wheelie uh and and was
like up like this on his back two wheels forever
and then the air called him and send him, send

(34:32):
him for a flip on his top uh and slid
into the wall.

Speaker 3 (34:37):
And it was that was wild.

Speaker 2 (34:40):
Yeah, that was a wild crash. You appeared, you know,
And he's okay when she speaks to the unbelievable space
I think is his name, I think.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
So sixty ye again Yeah, yeah, still on his back wheels.
Let's see how long is.

Speaker 5 (34:54):
The Harvick and some of the other guys on the
announcing said they had they've never seen a wreck like
that where he's up. He's up on his back two
wheels like that, and he just called air wheelie.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
That's like when you're on the back of like a boat.
You're getting drug behind the boats and the little thing.

Speaker 2 (35:10):
Will go up there. For sure, we've all done. That's
what it looked like. People are calling. It was called
full Speed. I wonder if they're gonna have another one,
because it's right, this year's will be about last year's. Yeah,
I love that series. As a matter of fact, I
enjoyed that. That really got me all into Nascar again, so,
which was probably the intention of the show. All right,
So then we had the president there. President Trump was there.

(35:33):
Now everybody started sending me over the weekend. Have you
heard Trump talking to the drivers? I guess he's in
the pace car? Yeah, And I said I have not,
And they said, what was up with this voice? He
sounds kind of like Larry the Patch collector out of Dublin, Georgia.
And I thought exaggeration, and then I listened to it, Yeah,

(35:53):
and it really sounds strange. Now what the President said
also owns me because he is a character. It started
money when he refers to himself, is everybody's favorite president. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:03):
Now, now there was a little bit of miss miscommunication.
I'm sure there was some technical issues. They had pitched
to President Trump and he said, you know, mister president,
the radio is yours or whatever, and then like thirty
to forty seconds went by and he never said youthing.
So then they had to come back and tell it again.

(36:23):
And this is where we pick up here. But I'm
sure there was probably a little breakdown in communication. But
he's in his limo and everything. Rick, at least he's
in the Beast, but the beast the hot light. Yeah,
on the terms and.

Speaker 2 (36:41):
Even he sounds a little weird.

Speaker 9 (36:43):
Think about Larry, this is your favorite president. I'm a
peace man. I am a really big fan of people
that you do this. I don't know, but I just want.

Speaker 2 (36:54):
You to be sad.

Speaker 14 (36:55):
You talent.

Speaker 9 (36:56):
These people and great people and great Americans have a
good They have a lot of fun. And alator that wasn't.

Speaker 2 (37:03):
The president doesn't sound anything. You can even and if
anybody wants to send me some patches.

Speaker 5 (37:09):
If you go back, you can even hear when the
guy says mister he even sounds a little jarum.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
He does, but that if you had told me that
was the president, I wouldn't believe you.

Speaker 7 (37:19):
It was.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
When he said it was your this is your favorite president,
I went, if that's strong, well, favorite president.

Speaker 7 (37:25):
President.

Speaker 2 (37:27):
By the way, speedy sounds better is Trump than Trump does? Here?

Speaker 9 (37:33):
This is your favorite president?

Speaker 15 (37:35):
Man.

Speaker 3 (37:35):
I am a really.

Speaker 9 (37:38):
People that you do this. I don't know, but I
just want you to be safe, your talent, these people
and great people and green Americans have a good day,
have a lot of fun and alator.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
You know that's not the president.

Speaker 2 (37:51):
He received thread. They got him out of there, and
this guy was fake.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
In the world.

Speaker 5 (37:57):
Hey he did do a fly. Yeah, now this is cool.
When he landed and everything.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
This is pretty neat.

Speaker 3 (38:04):
There's old Trump force one. The crowd's going nuts.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
I'm gonna read you on a cool hey birch, hey
burge from the weekend in the email about this and
it'll lead into the other thing. Okay, so here it is.
I love this. It's from Vince Hey Bird. Hey Bird,
I'm forty and I have never watched a NASCAR start
until today. But you guys pulled me in because even

(38:33):
though we don't know as much about NASCAR as once did,
as you can obviously hear and see painfully. We were
talking about that everybody should experience this at least once
in their life. This pulled Vince in. Okay, he said
a few thoughts about it. It said the start time
was twelve thirty and we were still not full speed.
That's aggravating. Loved Trump being there and this is the

(38:56):
one that he brought up to and the Thunderbirds flying
made me a little misty. I finally, finally, one thing
I would like that to ask those of you that
maybe know more about NASCAR, not as much. We don't
know as much now, but we grew up on it.
Any guy with a name like Almondinger should really be
in a Toyota, not a Chevy. Okay, that's a that's

(39:18):
a good observation from Vince. Yeah, but Vince says we
pulled him in. He wanted to see a start of
a major castcar man. He said, it made a misty
at a little bit. Yeah, he said, like, see this
get started as thirty first, what we said, but did
they start on time? Didn't have to pull them in?

Speaker 5 (39:32):
Yeah, but the Thunderbirds, they just they were incredible. Yeah,
they didn't get many laps in at all. Oh, they
had to shut down because of weather. I did actually
can't help that.

Speaker 3 (39:41):
I found some footage of Trump behind the behind the wheel,
so that's what that was him he got.

Speaker 2 (39:53):
That's so funny. So yeah, the thunderbirds apparently you see
some of the moves they did. I did see, said,
I just saw people show me the highlight.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Here's here's a clip of him being interviewed. Let's see
if his voice sounds normal real quick, that's okay with you? Like,
what was that.

Speaker 2 (40:07):
President of the nice aready? Mister president? Five years ago?
We were standing in this very spot. What brings you
back to the Great American Race? I think it's fantastic.
It's great for the country.

Speaker 14 (40:17):
A country is doing well again and we have spirit
all over the world.

Speaker 2 (40:22):
Did you hear that? The what the winner got? I
mean you look at the purse. I mean it's a
lot of money. But they also gave him not twelve
the carton of eighteen eggs. Did you see he got
eighteen eggs? Eighteen Yeah, yeah, yeah, wow, not the twelve
with it stroke. This is Daytona. He got eighteen eggs.

(40:42):
Tom of the hour, We'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (40:45):
This is The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (41:00):
Listen up, you know, like we say, all sign to
tell you gotta find us.

Speaker 1 (41:13):
Yeah, broadcasting from the New World, The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 16 (41:19):
You better believe it.

Speaker 2 (41:20):
Okay, come on, come on out of the fake world.
Come on, put the phone down, shut the laptop, walk on.
Aw get a little son on youre uh. It is
a brand you our Speedy Greg Adler all here. As
we move forward, active week coming up, we're looking back
over the weekend as well, trying to update you on

(41:43):
the big stories from the weekend. Our number is eight
eight eight, the number six big the box texting us
on the same line if you so desire. Many of
you are eight eight eight six two four four eight
six nine website Rick Burgess Show dot com. Okay, so
as we land for another hour. We we just updated

(42:07):
you on the Daytona five hundred. We don't We were
all of us a little taken back by high little
Donald Trump's commentary from the the limousine that was leading
the field the two way that he was talking on it,
and it sounded he sounded a little bit like Larry
the Patch. It was. It was bizarre. As I said,

(42:27):
Speedy sounds more like Trump as the Man of a
Thousand Voices and that clip. Well, we we've recapped the
high points of the Daytona five hundred. But then people
have just i mean overwhelmed the text line saying guys,
you cannot miss the ARCA Race. Now, those of you
that are not that familiar with with stock cart racing,

(42:52):
the ARCA Series that is, like there's the Infinity Series,
which is kind of the one step down the ARCA
Series is if you can get a car together, haul
it over there and qualify, you get the race. I mean,
it's what it felt like. You there's some great ARCA
stories we grew up going to the ARCA Race. You
would like look out and see like a man driving

(43:13):
in the ARCA Race that you knew. Yeah, they always
ran that Saturday for the big race when we were
growing up. Wait a minute, is that David Roman out there?
I mean you would, Yeah, if you could put us,
if you could put a car together and qualify, now
you got to qualify. But so uh so people are
saying there's a YouTube influencer that I'm not familiar with.
Kletas McFarlane. Yeah, I looked I actually got to drive

(43:35):
a car. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (43:35):
His name is Garrett Mitchell. He goes by Kleatas McFarlane.
He's a YouTube star, race car driver, car enthusiast. He
also hosts his own events, klead Us and cars at
various tracks across the country. He's competed in Robbie Gordon's
Stadium Super Truck Series and is part time in ARCA. Okay,
and they interviewed him, and everybody's telling us, you have

(43:57):
got to hear this.

Speaker 2 (43:57):
Okay, let me stop right here before we before we start,
because I want to prepare myself. And Adam, you may
know this because this is kind of your world in speedy.
You just gave me the background. So is he created
a character Cletis McFarlane, that's what he goes, am. I
about to see like a guy pretending to be It's
not This is not genuine article.

Speaker 3 (44:15):
I think his name is not real. But from what
I could tell, how he's acting seems like kind of
who he is.

Speaker 5 (44:21):
Well Like I said, his name is Garrett Mitchell, and
it says his stage name is Kletus McFarlane.

Speaker 3 (44:26):
Yeah, that's that's what it says. And I've never heard
of this guy. I don't know anything about this guy.
He seems like he enjoys cars and driving and racing
in America.

Speaker 2 (44:35):
Okay, so that's what it appears, Greg, I will let's
use your discernment. Yeah, I want you to tell us
whether this is Hey, I have this character like the
you guys. Let's just admit it. The time that we
heard Larry the Cable guy talking in his normal voice,
I will, man, it changed my whole But that hurts.
But his character he's created is so funny, it's okay, Yeah,

(44:58):
there's nothing wrong with it. So this guy maybe funny
enough that I don't care. Yeah, but you know, sometimes
when you get into this, well, let's just let's just
hear it. Let's just see because the textures are on
fire forward, so they think we're gonna love it.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
And this is his first ARCA race ever.

Speaker 13 (45:13):
Just for a little background, Well, I was having the
best day of my life, river around Daytona like a
bald eagle. Uh, it's flat out, you know, avoided a wreck,
which was awesome. I thought I was the best driver
that ever exists in that moment. And uh, it's probably
because my sleeves are cut off as I was able
to pull off that maneuver come down pit road. Then
someone slammed into my rear left corner, spun me out,

(45:35):
lived through that, got some fresh tires, went back out
of there. I'm hot dogging into one and two and
uh the car lost it in front of me, and
I saw it didn't have enough breaks to get slowed
down before it and UH tried to go around it
misread it zigged instead of zagged when I should have zagged,
And I zigged and bam blew to the front end,

(45:57):
right off my high rod.

Speaker 2 (46:00):
I am genuine article. Yeah, I find myself a little
underwhelmed by the hype. Yeah, by the hype funny, but yeah,
it was.

Speaker 5 (46:11):
What I'm seeing here in the text or backing that
up that you know, Kletus is his a fake name,
it's not his real name, but the character or his
personality is rich. He's genuine as far as who he
really is. And they say that he helped, he's got
his own helicopter, helped a lot with the new North
Carolina hurricane relief and all that that.

Speaker 2 (46:30):
People really like him. But yeah, I mean, I don't know.
He seems like a good old boy and I wouldn't
mind going out having a meeting three with him, but
you know him, he like you though. I mean, I
thought I was about to hear good. I thought I
was about to here with the funniest things I've ever heard. Yeah,
and I won't say it met that expectation. The fact
that he's not a straight up legit driver, does that

(46:50):
bother you that you know what I'm saying, that he's
that he's out there like doing a bit or like,
which is fine. Actually don't have a problem that Actually
was going to I see your point, Like he is
he a character that's on the circuit and will get
a lot from him. Really that's a good idea. Look,
I'm if he's got that, you go to pull it off.
I'm gonna get a car and I'm actually racing arm

(47:12):
I'm a YouTube influencer, and I went out there and
I and my whole YouTube experiences around cars. I guess
his whole channel is all cars. And then I drove
in and I think, yeah, I think that's great question. Here.

Speaker 5 (47:26):
I go to movie Trivia with Greg and Talladega Night's
Ricky Bobby when he was doing interviews. Was he playing
off that like because some people some people, some people
said Ricky Bobby did it better, is he?

Speaker 2 (47:37):
Are they? And so are they?

Speaker 5 (47:38):
Saying that he used some of his the way he
was describing things as like Ricky Bobby would do or
I don't. I'm asking that question because a lot of
the text are going it's just constant Ricky.

Speaker 2 (47:49):
Bobby when he would like you, I don't do my
hands and all that. Yeah, I don't know. No, I
thought it was good. It felt like he was legitimately
talking about his experience on the track. I can see
where the zig and the zag part. It would be
something if you pulled that out that might be funny
to play from time to time. But but I did not.
It wasn't as funny as I thought it was gonna be.
But but I will say this, I congratulate him for

(48:13):
finding his niche and and this is huge for his
YouTube channel. Oh yeah, yeah to getting in drive in
an arc racing. I commended for that and and and
that was a that was that was a good interview.
But I mean the text, I mean the way the
text was coming in. I was like, I'm about to
see something that I'm asked her to play again. Yeah,
people really like him? No, I say, I think he's

(48:36):
that's they checked out.

Speaker 5 (48:37):
No, I'm just saying this is it's it's crazy, saying
I've never heard of it. And drag drag racer, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (48:43):
All about cars.

Speaker 3 (48:45):
He bought an abandoned racetrack. He bought the Sodo Speedway
in Bradenton, Florida, built a house on it. Uh, and
now he's got this racetrack in his backyard.

Speaker 2 (48:55):
Oh that's funny.

Speaker 3 (48:56):
The Sodo Speedway. That's pretty cool. It's a three eighth
mile track, so it's not you know, it's not full
size or anything. But I don't have a racetrack in
my bad.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
No, you don't. Hey, wow, what have you?

Speaker 3 (49:09):
Grandstance and everything that's cowd Yeah, I.

Speaker 2 (49:12):
Just wasn't want to live in an abandoned race track.

Speaker 3 (49:15):
Well, I mean just racing. That's Cobs racing great.

Speaker 2 (49:18):
And he's highly successful on his YouTube channel and apparently
a lot of people love what he does, so good
for him.

Speaker 3 (49:24):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (49:25):
Yeah, it just I was just saying I thought we
were about to play a segment that I was like, Man,
I mean, when someone says you have to play it,
I'm welly, we've got to get to this, But I
do want to maybe looking more and say if I
can get this stuff and go Okay, yeah, well I'm
not that interested in cars, so yeah, that probably won't
pull me in to get right, which you'll work. Yeah, yeah,

(49:46):
I'm sorry. Yeah that's so. But no, he's a successful
guy and it's great for a YouTube channel, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (49:53):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is what Trump
had in mind when he sought to make America great again.
The Rick Budget Show.

Speaker 2 (50:14):
Thank you for being with us. Today is week grind
through another week.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
We're here for you.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
I hope you had a great weekend. Still got stories
from the weekend coming up on today's show. All right,
so I want to point you to Cbdistillery dot com.
Cbdistillery dot com. Have you kind of been put out
every time you turned around there's some pharmaceutical company trying

(50:40):
to hawk something that's not gonna work. I mean, if
you're still turning to remedies that just they don't do it,
and every kind of side of it you can think about,
maybe it's time to just make a simple switch. The
stock up sell is happening now at cbdistillery dot com,
meaning the prices are so low you can stock up

(51:01):
on everything that you need forty percent off on everything.
If you're struggling to get a good night's sleep with
the daily stress that you deal with, check out Cbdistillery
dot com. They've got natural, plant based solutions for just
about everything. And this isn't the low quality stuff you
find like at a convenience store or a drug store.

(51:22):
This is premium CBD that people are just they swear
by it. And if you want to see the reviews,
I mean there's tons of them. So go right now
for forty percent off on the stock up sale cbdistillery
dot com and use the special code. Now this code
is only good through this sale. Okay, So this is

(51:43):
to get the stock up price. V IP Okay v
IP for the stock up sales cbdistillery dot com and
type in v I P. Now some of you struggle
with the letter V, so that's Victor v IP save
forty percent Cbdistillery dot Com. There's also a direct link

(52:05):
at Rick burgesshow dot com under sponsor. So there you go.
All right, So other things we need to talk about today.
The people are saying that when Trump was doing the
this is your favorite President that a lot of people
on these news sources when they would play back that
for the reporting on the Daytona five hundred. They edited
out the favorite President. Oh, I'm sure they did well.

(52:27):
To me, though, I wouldn't have to me if even look,
I think he's a card and I'm excited about what
this administration is doing. And I certainly he certainly got
my vote along with a lot of other people. But
to me, if I was like someone who you know,
has this weird, you know, rage syndrome, you know that

(52:47):
about Trump, where they just think he's the end of
the world, I wouldn't edit out him saying himself that
he's their favorite president. I would think that would be funny.
That would be something you could dig on a little bit. Yeah,
of course he told everybody his favorite president. See, I
find that funny. But I mean if I if I censor, Yeah,
if I had that rage you know syndrome, then I

(53:07):
would play it and then be mad about it, right
editing it out. I don't understand what that really. I mean,
you could you could go either way with that, but
I guess they just don't like anything like that. But
I will tell you, uh, and then we'll move on
this on on cut one. Uh, you know, as far
as trying to understand what just happened in this, uh,

(53:27):
this latest election. Look at things like the crowd's reaction
when the camera pans to Donald Jay Trump, President Trump
at the Daytona five hundred, So here come, or the.

Speaker 3 (53:43):
Line of the three.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
The home of the O.

Speaker 3 (53:53):
Is that Jeral Kate singing there?

Speaker 2 (54:01):
Yeah? Yeah, all right? So and you came in talking
about it speedy, but you said you couldn't watch it, apparently,
And this is what keeps happening, and this is why
the left keeps losing. So when the left sees the
Daytona five hundred and people cheering for President Trump and hey,
I'm out front of the cars and I'm here, they scream,

(54:24):
what do I care about what a bunch of racists think?
And they're totally missing it, totally missing it. And apparently
they did the Saturday Night Live fiftieth anniversaries that right,
And I don't know what this was. I didn't see it,
but you said you tried to watch it try. Well
you probably were, like Greg and I were asking you
today when we started the show. I thought this would

(54:45):
be them showing the fifty fifty years of the greatest
moments in Saturday Night Live history. But you're saying that
wasn't it? Well what I saw with you know what
I saw.

Speaker 5 (54:56):
I tuned in when Will Ferrell was performing something live,
and I tried to stay with it. I don't know
what it is I've and I might disappoint some of you.
I've never really been all into Saturday Night Live. Maybe
it's me and live events and stuff. I just don't.
I have no idea, but I for a little bit,
I understand Tom Hanks. He played a Maga supporter, which

(55:19):
was a racist Maga supporter. That's upset a lot of folks.

Speaker 3 (55:23):
I've got a quick clip of that, in fact, if
you want.

Speaker 2 (55:26):
But I could stay funny.

Speaker 3 (55:27):
Black Jeopardy is funny.

Speaker 5 (55:28):
I think I stayed with it for about a minute
and Terry and I looked and I said, I just
go back to day.

Speaker 2 (55:32):
Okay, so this is one of my favorite bits.

Speaker 3 (55:35):
Black Jeopardy is great.

Speaker 2 (55:36):
Okay, so that they are playing black Jeopardy.

Speaker 3 (55:38):
To your point, Speedy, the both I watched the concert.
I watched a lot of the SNL concert because they
had on Friday night a lot of the old acts
that appeared on the show, musical act they had, and
this was a live concert at Radio City Music Hall,
and it was not switched well, it was not shot well,
the audio was not good, and they spent a lot

(55:58):
of time like kind of focus on like the punk
era of Saturn Night Live. And so you've got really
really old guys trying to do rock punk songs. It's
very awkward. Anyway, back to what we were talking about. Here
is black Jeopardy. The host what's his name?

Speaker 2 (56:12):
Kel Keenan?

Speaker 3 (56:15):
You got Keenan and kell you know what I'm talking about.
So here here's that awkward moment and you'll get the idea.

Speaker 2 (56:20):
I'd like to shake your hand, sir. Here we go.

Speaker 3 (56:23):
Oh no, no, oh no, no, just a handsh yeah, all right, Okay,
so Tom Saks acting like you don't want to shake
a black guy's handcut he's a MAGA supporter.

Speaker 2 (56:32):
Okay, Well again this is the big miss. They're also
missing how many black people voted for Trump, and they're
also missing the overwhelming loss and if their response is
always going to be this kind of garbage, Okay, uh,
you didn't vote for our candidates and you don't believe
what we believe, which makes you stupid. And that's really

(56:54):
what they mean, because racism is based on stupidity. Uh,
but it's always the bottom line is where they choose racism,
whether they choose whatever they choose, it's always going to
be if you don't see the world the way we do,
and if you don't agree with what we think America
should be, it's not because our ideology is flawed and

(57:15):
has never worked in the history of the world. It's
because you're stupid. And they can keep doing that all
they want to, but it's only to their own demise.
And you also are not understanding why you got beat
and if you can't figure that out. If I was
as big a celebrity, and I enjoy a lot of
the work that Tom Hanks has done because I can

(57:36):
get past disagreeing and still enjoying what somebody does if
it's done well, and I how can you beat Forrest Gump?
But one of the things that these celebrities have failed,
apparently to take away is you don't have as much
influence as you think you do. You think people will
do whatever you say just because they want to see

(57:57):
you pretend to be somebody else or sing a song,
and you're wrong because you remember, Kamala brought many celebrities
out on her behalf that she thought, oh yeah, this
right had people. You can't make the money that you
make without people who disagree with you politically also enjoying
what you do. But if you think that means you
can tell them how to vote and they'll just fall

(58:17):
in line, you're wrong about that. And I think they
failed to realize that. They keep thinking they have more
political influence than they actually have. And one of the
things that people usually respond to is this ideology didn't
seem to work out. Another ideology seems to give me

(58:37):
a better life, and that's why you lost. And they
can't seem to put a finger on that. And calling
those who voted stupid because they don't agree with you
is not going to It's not going to change anything.
And it's also like Ada talked about, it's not creative,
it's not clever, it's low hanging fruit, and it makes

(59:02):
you look lazy. Yeah, and and it just all it
does is turn people away from now what you need
people because people can get to the point where they say,
you know what, if you've crossed the line with me
and and now I just don't know that I can
continue to even enjoy the things you do that aren't
letting you got to watch it. But if there's one

(59:22):
thing celebrities need to learn from the election is you
don't have as much influence as you think you do.
And they proved that In's Life. The bottom of the hour,
we'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The money pointed out
that there is no such thing as voteless wigs.

Speaker 2 (59:56):
Quis yes sir, yes, sir, yes sir. Thanks for being
with us as we work through another show today. Thank
you for being with us recapping the weekend. We'll get
into personal stories before we're done as well. Big week
coming up. There's a lot going on and you can
join us. Coming up Thursday night, excited to be Lord

(01:00:20):
Willing at Northside Baptist Church with a sportsman's banquet. They
said they do have maybe ten eleven tickets still there
if you want to check that out at the link
there at Burgessmanistries dot com under events. So that'd be
in Lexington, South Carolina, coming up on Thursday night. Back
for the show on the Friday, and then we are

(01:00:43):
off to Panama City, Florida the Man Church Conference this weekend.
If you'd like to join us for that. Men there's
still tickets available. You can grab those and you can
be with us to hear Dean and Sarah, Ted Traylor,
Rich Wingo, Andy Blanks and I all speaking speedy and
Greg will be there out in the lobby gripping and
grinning at the Rick Burgers show booth, and Chuck Hooton

(01:01:06):
will be leading worship, and hopefully Greg will not be
out in the parking lot because he didn't have his
all access lab. Yeah, so that's coming up in the
Atlanta Your next weekend, the twenty eighth of February. In March,
the first for the final Man Church conference of the year.
So a couple of things to still cover from the

(01:01:26):
Saturday Night Live fiftieth anniversary. Steve Martin did the opening monologue,
and so we have about fifteen seconds of that and
then a funny interaction with Seinfeld and a paparazzi guy
which is interesting too. So here's Steve Martin fifteen seconds
of the opening monologue.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
And he talked about age a good bit. He mentioned
SNL is fifty and I'm seventy nine. I don't mind
getting older. A few old jokes, and then here's one
of them.

Speaker 11 (01:01:55):
Now, a fun fact a person born during the first
season of Saturday Night Live could today be easily dead
of natural castles.

Speaker 3 (01:02:06):
That's funny, Eily, it was funny seeing some of these
these folks as they've gotten older. Oh my goodness. That
dude that used to be like the front man, he
used to shred the guitar. He made an appearance, and
boy he looked old. But it was great to see
him again. Man, I used to look I liked it

(01:02:27):
when I was a kid a lot. The Adam Sandler
Chris Farley era, Will Ferrell Errow was my era of
Saturday Night Live, And uh, they had a lot of
throwbacks to that era. But like I said, the broadcast
was just clunky, and the audio wasn't even great, and
even some of the heavy hitters came in and just
kind of struggled. Mike Myers came back and did like

(01:02:47):
the talk amongst yourselves, that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Whole thing we're talking about coffee.

Speaker 3 (01:02:51):
Coffee talk here. Yeah, and even even then, just some
of these heavy hitters seemed a little rusty or just uncomfortable.
But yeah, Rick to that that clip that you were
talking about. Seinfeld was all over it. He was all
over the SNL fifty concert that they did on Friday,
and he was in the audience at the at the
actual the show in the SNL studio, Papa Razzo came

(01:03:14):
up to him and asked for a selfie, and that
interaction was awkward.

Speaker 2 (01:03:17):
Jerry, can I get a selfie?

Speaker 12 (01:03:20):
Free Palestine.

Speaker 2 (01:03:24):
I don't care about palt care about Palestine. So the
guy tries to do free Palestine with his self Jewish
and Jerry's Jewish, and he's like, yeah, I don't care
about Palestine. Yes, you know, I couldn't look he said
so so and then I just said no, not with

(01:03:50):
that voice. Not with that voice. Video eight. So Speedy
came in talking about this. You ader came in talking
about this hockey Canada VERSUS. You say, now, help me
with why why are these two teams playing?

Speaker 5 (01:04:04):
It's a four nations face off between US, Canada, Finland
and Sweden and UH, and they've kind of had a
round robin format and UH, the US beat Canada three
to one Saturday night. Yeah, come on, and so they've
made it to the finals on Thursday. Today's a big
day for Canada and UH and Finland. Sweden plays the

(01:04:25):
US as well, but the US is already in so anyway,
long story short, they get booed for the our national
anthem and it didn't take. And suddenly and two of
them are brothers that are on the US roster. Three
fights broke out in the first nine seconds. I mean,
I'm talking about dropping gloves. Let's go, let's go, And

(01:04:48):
it was fantastic.

Speaker 3 (01:04:50):
And this one minute video kind of summarizes the everything
that Speedy just said. The entire game.

Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
Yeah, there's the Canadians booing, the players of the flots,
run away, starts fight start, yes, go ahead and start from.

Speaker 13 (01:05:06):
You so so pretty America, let's talk.

Speaker 2 (01:05:13):
So if you go to the ground, they automatically get
you out.

Speaker 7 (01:05:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:05:19):
Right, so now we got we got. Now there's another Yeah,
this is this is the US. And so yeah, your
pancakes and were your Canadian Yeah boo that you gotta
leaf at your own game, in your own stadium. You

(01:05:39):
couldn't even exist without us. Yeah, and then they they
meet us on that wall.

Speaker 5 (01:05:46):
There was less than two minutes left, so uh, Canada
pulled pulled their goalie to try to out man us. Uh,
and then we got a shot on goal with nobody there.

Speaker 3 (01:05:55):
So your leaf.

Speaker 5 (01:05:56):
We ended up winning three to one. Uh and made made,
made Canada like it. Course, Trudeau goes, I'm proud of
the Canadians. I'm proud of my people for moving.

Speaker 2 (01:06:06):
You're talking about the people who are so upset with
you, you're having to step down. Nobody likes you either. Yeah,
we made you like it.

Speaker 3 (01:06:13):
Yeah, get that maple syrup and put three to one
of your home game.

Speaker 2 (01:06:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:06:19):
So now today Canada, as I said, Canada and Finland
play to see who plays the US Thursday night, and
so fight.

Speaker 2 (01:06:28):
That's the great thing about hockey. They stand there and
watch you fight. Now, if you get on the ground,
they reach it and break it. Well, that's what's going
to ask because you know you've said this, Speedy, I
agree with you. We've openly said this. We don't like
hockey as much as we should. I'm mad at myself.
Every time I go to a hockey game, I love it.
Every time I get in get into hockey. I'm glad
I did. I just need to be a little more

(01:06:49):
intentional about it. But I want to ask this, and Greg,
maybe you just said it. They let them fight. Fighting
is part of it, which I love that do they
That's that's the deal. If you go to the ground,
that's when the that's when the officials get involved. I
don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
It looks like to me they're waiting for a break
so they can they can like separate them. But they're
gonna let you go till there's a break of some kind.
If that could be to the ground, or that could
be maybe you're separated in some way, then they'll they'll
jump in. But so j C, my middle one, for
those of you do not know, he is all about hockey,
all right. He hunt it was a hunt, will havoc.

(01:07:25):
He loves the Birmingham Bulls, all that kind of stuff.
But they have adopted the Dallas Stars in the NHL.
I'm talking about. They bought banners for their room. They
really they bought merch And I don't know why him
in his three room. Why they picked that? You no, no,
I have. I have one of my really good friends, Herring,
there's your name. He got JC because his son and

(01:07:48):
j C are good friends. He got to him him
into the Dallas Stars. Why they picked them, I don't know,
but that's kind of what j C tells me. But guys,
I'm talking about they have watch parties. They it's everything stars.
And he was all about this. He was texting me saying, Dad,
are you seeing these fights? Please tell me you're seeing
these fights? And and look, the US players said they

(01:08:09):
didn't like it. And then they've been booed before, but
they didn't like it. They were they were pretty they
were pretty upset. And I forget which one of the
brothers told the other brothers, I'm going I'm in, Okay,
this is I'm as soon as soon as it soon
as we get get the puck drops, I'm in.

Speaker 7 (01:08:25):
By the way.

Speaker 2 (01:08:26):
Uh. A lot of people are saying that, and they're
also throwing in there to the Canadians, you're Canadian bacon.
We just call it ham. That's a good one. By
the way, bacon, they say, to the ground our blood.
Oh they step in. Wow. Off the text line, this
must be this is good news for hockey. And I

(01:08:46):
think I see why because of some of the things
that that it offers. When I look at my kids,
they like hockey too, especially my youngest one, Uh, Brody,
Brody loves hockey with the So I think there's a
generation that that's embracing hockey more than we bring time.
I don't have access to hockey. When were kidding.

Speaker 5 (01:09:05):
Every time I have any kind of taste of hockey,
I love it, say, And so I'm like, so then
why am not?

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
Why am I not looking for it? What's what? If
you want to have a blast, go to a hockey game. Yeah,
I mean it's it's great.

Speaker 5 (01:09:16):
So now you've got Today's a big day for who
plays US. As I said, Uh, the game tonight with
Sweden doesn't meet a whole lot for the US. It
does for them as far as if they beat us
in regulation or the you know, as far as the
points system goes, they could end up being in at
Thursday night. But if US handles business, uh, then you know,

(01:09:38):
Sweden is out. So it's just a formality tonight. But
the big game is Canada and Finland to see who
plays Thursday night against the US. And that one is
in America. That that's the USA.

Speaker 2 (01:09:50):
The finals in Boston. All right, we come back, we'll
go phone calls next. We thrown a lot at you
in a short period of time today. A lot of
ground to cover, and we've covered a lot of it.
We still have some more personal stories on the weekend
coming up over the next few hours, but Let's do
a check in with you America right now at eight

(01:10:11):
eight eight the number six Big Box phone calls. All
lines are cleared and ready for you.

Speaker 1 (01:10:18):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Okay, are you ready
to bring something to the table? Call no and get
on the show. One eight eight eight six Big Fox.

Speaker 2 (01:10:40):
All right, let's go. Greg's got the phones right now.
A couple of topics, a lot of them out there.
We've already talked about one of them. How did your
Valentine's weekend go? Did you? Did you go well? Poorly?
The good, the bad, the ugly? Let us know our numbers,
eight eight eight, the number six Big Box.

Speaker 7 (01:11:01):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (01:11:01):
So, let's go to Thomas out of Dothan. Thomas is
listening to news Talk one O three nine. Thomas. Welcome
to the Rick Burgers Show.

Speaker 10 (01:11:09):
Go right ahead, Hey guys, how's it going.

Speaker 2 (01:11:12):
We're good, Thomas. I hope you're will well.

Speaker 10 (01:11:15):
My voice has not been one hundred percent of it lately,
but it's getting better.

Speaker 2 (01:11:18):
Good.

Speaker 7 (01:11:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 10 (01:11:20):
I you know, Saturday Alive has one of the best
YouTube channels for miles and miles around. I mean they've
and they've they've had. I don't have a TV set
that I couldn't have watched it last night, but I
knew that they were. They've been putting up lots of
you know, moment frow it and I've been the I've
seen a few of them, and uh, you know, ninety
percent of what they've done historically has been funny for

(01:11:42):
a half century now. But this whole thing about you know,
we've we've absolutely just got to find a way to
make you know, And even though I didn't vote for
mister Trump, you know, most of my people did here
in Alabama, and just let's just what does that have
to do with the greatness I'm not gonna watch that
particular skids for, but what does that have to do

(01:12:05):
with the greatness of an institution that pretty much everyone
who agrees is going to be a sad day when
it's gone.

Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
I think what he's saying is, why would Saturday not live?
Even need that? I don't think ninety percent of what
they've done has been funny, but I think the majority
has been Over the years. I've seen some really creative
funny things there. And you know what, I don't have
any trouble with stereotypes because we do them here and
make fun of stereotypes, and there's always just an inkling
of truth and a stereotype, and and but I think

(01:12:41):
so that's not the point. The point is making the
mistake that even when you when you stereotype a large
group of people and claim that's the only reason why
this election went the way it went. The stereotype certainly exists,
and there's always an ounce of truth every stereotype. But

(01:13:01):
to say that is the only people that that that
swung this election is to be ignorant and and to
not be preparing for what's next. But no, I think
stereotypes are funny. But when you're going to try to
do a rednecky person, you got to do a good
job with it. I mean, frankly, we have Gary and
I think he's a lot funnier than that than that

(01:13:22):
skip boy. Mm hmm uh. But you know why genuine
article uh to be in in Alabama? Ben, go ahead,
welcome to the show.

Speaker 4 (01:13:32):
Hey, I got an update on my Valentine's surprise today, Tonal, Oh, oh.

Speaker 2 (01:13:37):
This is it. This is good man, man. We were
so worried, we were all, I mean, we were so
worried about you. I even brought it up to my
wife when we were when we were headed to the
at L Friday, and she even made a face. She
was likeing and uh, but tell us how it went, man.

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Yeah, So I got a little story to Marica. Long
story shorts. So apparently she was playing a Valentine's surprise
for me here. She wasn't planning to come up here,
but she was having a cookie cake delivered to my house, okay,
and she was wondering when I was going to be
off work, and I just kept telling her, I'm not sure,
I'm not sure. Well, I got stuck in traffic in

(01:14:14):
Jacksonville and that was when the cookie cake was supposed
to be delivered, and her delivery person let her know
that there was a truck in the driveway, which was
my truck, and so she started wondering why my truck
was in the driveway, and I just had to put
my phone down and not answer for forty five minutes
until I got down there. So I finally got down there,
knocked on the door. As she was so surprised, she

(01:14:37):
just stood there and looked at me, and her dog
was trying to trying to get out, so she had
to shut the door and get her dog jammed up.
But she come back and she was so confused. It's like,
what are you doing here?

Speaker 10 (01:14:47):
What are you doing here?

Speaker 4 (01:14:49):
And so it was all good. We had a great weekend.
It was only thirty six hours together, but it was good.

Speaker 2 (01:14:54):
Yeah, okay, so my good. So you've made it back already.

Speaker 4 (01:14:59):
Yeah yeah, somebody you know, I.

Speaker 2 (01:15:01):
Understand that you've had a long weekend. But yeah, so
your truck was your truck was in the driveway, meaning
I didn't follow that part. Did what did you drive
down there?

Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
All right?

Speaker 4 (01:15:11):
I rented a car there you go?

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
All right, so she would. So the delivery person's going,
I don't know why he's not answering the door. His
truck's here, back back where you live. Okay, I got
you right, that makes sense.

Speaker 5 (01:15:21):
And when you said Jacksonville, you're saying Jacksonville, Florida before
you turned south.

Speaker 2 (01:15:24):
Heead today. Oh yeah, yeah, you'll get locked jams and Jacksonville.
So it was all fine, right, And she didn't seem like, oh,
what are you doing here? Nothing like that. All good?

Speaker 4 (01:15:36):
No, no, no, she was. She was very surprised and
we were both happy to see each other.

Speaker 2 (01:15:41):
Okay, good, good. So the guy she's seen down there,
did he No, I'm just kidding to hear the back now,
that's great. We were pulling for you, Ben. I'm so glad.

Speaker 5 (01:15:52):
Well, oh way man, we've had folks text and please
tell me I got made it over.

Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Okay. So the Bend update is he got there in
his girl friend was surprised and it all went well
and she was even sending a little cookie to him
back at home. Okay, and so that was that. That
turned out good. But we can still be happy because
I know what you're thinking, and I think it was great.
Let me tell you something. I wasn't prepared, like to

(01:16:18):
knock on the back door. I was maybe sneak attack,
but I mean, but no.

Speaker 8 (01:16:23):
I was.

Speaker 2 (01:16:24):
I was surprised at the face my wife made when
I told her everything. She said, no, what again? I said, well,
you know they're they're they're dating, they're they're ten hours apart,
and she's like, she's at college, yeah okay, and he's
back home. I said, yeah, I mean that face. And
I was like, gosh, even women, I thought that this
would be all about the greatest rom com ever. I

(01:16:46):
thought you b all into the story. Yeah, everybody was concerned.

Speaker 5 (01:16:48):
They were now now some of you, and you're right,
you are a bad person. They were all train wreck.

Speaker 2 (01:16:53):
No, no, anybody who was hoping for that. Yes, we
are all bad people. Yeah, Greg, Yeah, And of course
somebody asking the question, we all want to know what
happened to Cookcake? Was it still good when you got back,
Baker out of Kentucky?

Speaker 11 (01:17:08):
What?

Speaker 2 (01:17:08):
Kentucky's had a lot of water and a lot of
we got a lot of states. Boy, it was a
rough weather weekend for y'all.

Speaker 6 (01:17:14):
Baker, you okay, we're surviving, barely. Got a quick update
over five inches of rain of course Saturday alone, and
then wake up Sunday morning about six thirty and there's
an inch of snow on the ground. So it's crazy,
it's crazy. And then there's five inches more coming evidently

(01:17:37):
Wednesday morning.

Speaker 2 (01:17:37):
Wow. Yeah, yes, what's the raining in you?

Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:17:40):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:17:41):
But hey, oh Elon Musk he's doing good. He's working,
for sure, he is. And evidently old Cheryl Crow isnin
in favor of that. Yeah, she has protested by selling
her tesla.

Speaker 2 (01:17:52):
She sold her tesla. Yeah, she put out a video
of the older tesla. Wait a minute, so she picked
Now I'm just going to use their point of view. Okay,
I do not believe that you know, electric cars are
saving the world, but they do. That's what we hear
from them. So what she basically did is she picked
her hate for Elon over the earth.

Speaker 5 (01:18:11):
Mm hmmm, she just yeah, this is this is the
video she posted of the Tesla driving off, And now
I understand she is donating the proceeds of the sale
to NPR.

Speaker 2 (01:18:20):
NPR, Oh my goodness, what a great use of her funds.

Speaker 3 (01:18:25):
Rich celebrity sells their car and gives proceeds to NPR.
Great good for you, Cheryl grow and Durst that all
you have. That's all I want to do is have
some fun.

Speaker 2 (01:18:33):
Show well to me the absurdity that this is. This is,
as you said, making any difference. And does this mean
she don't love the planet anymore?

Speaker 3 (01:18:42):
Did y'all see that, uh, actual Democrat guy that doesn't
like Trump. It's on the list here his you know
a guy that owns a Tesla in Portland. The car
is owned by a wealthy Portland liberal who hates Trump
and Elon Musk and a Portland Antifa member sprayed Nazi

(01:19:05):
on the guy's tesla. So if you own a Tesla.
In these liberal areas, watch out. You might get get
hit with something which is so ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (01:19:15):
Top of the Hour will be right back.

Speaker 1 (01:19:19):

(01:21:03):
So this past weekend headed to the atl headed to
the hot Atlanta. Isn't that fun? Hot Lana? So you know,
I'm learning some stuff too. You know, put some pictures
up from the Atlanta trip, and the first picture addlers
is the one people are really you know, checking out

(01:21:24):
and saying there must be a story behind this gone on.
I learned a new hip phrase, and I think Sherry
is watching on YouTube or listening, so I want her
to know this. One of the comments that I saw.
I didn't know this hip phrase is let's see right there?
Where is it that? It's actually the one? For some reason,
sometimes go down to the hidden it'll do hidden it.

(01:21:46):
I don't know why because the person didn't say anything.
It's it's Kimberly and Sherry. She says, hey, at momgirl,
deats on that necklace please. So I didn't know what
deats meant because I'm not I'm not here. And what
it is. What it is is another woman saying I
need the details on that on that necklace. And you know,
she had this really cool necklace and like We stopped

(01:22:08):
one place and even the woman behind the counter said, hey, girl,
talk des dats on that necklace? Is that what that
means is that? No? I think you're supposed to hip it? Now?
Hey hey, Rick, deets on that hoodie you got on?
Where did it come from?

Speaker 3 (01:22:24):
And whats on that deats on?

Speaker 2 (01:22:26):
That beats on that hoodie?

Speaker 8 (01:22:27):
Rick?

Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
So no, that that picture right there, it was we
have you know, when you're going to visit your adult children.
And we talked about this so much. Is we we
as dad's it's just uh, I mean we're we're you
know cause you're just like, come on, come on, son,
have you act together now? You know, let's let's let's

(01:22:49):
have the apartment in the order. Let's let's let's be on.
Let's be on times now. I will say this on time.
When you're dealing with one Brooks big love birdes, you're
gonna deal with punctual, You're gonna deal with on top
of it. So it's not like dealing with the others Okay, okay,
and they know who they are, okay when really, honestly
there's no telling what might happen. Okay, but no, Brooks

(01:23:12):
stays on top of his business and he's gone. He
had us some stuff planned to do. So one of
the things that that we've discovered is a little gem
if you got something is we were we were going
over to Atlanta has this and look you can tell
Sherri's involved here that has this incredible botanical gardens. Now
we're not going there to see the garden, but one

(01:23:34):
time is they have some pretty cool events. So we
stumbled upon one back in the spring that that we
didn't expect. We were just looking for something to do,
and but this one was was revolving around Valentine's. So
we were going there and going to come in and
we're going to do that on Friday night, not food,
trying to go out to eat anywhere, because they were

(01:23:56):
going to do food there and I'll tell you about that.
And then Saturday, you know, we're going to go to
a nice, rich restaurant that he loves and where he
lives in the part of Atlanta. Because you do realize,
I've had two adult children live in Atlanta and all
of you have are you living Atlanta? You know this
to be true. You just live in you're part of Atlanta.

(01:24:16):
You do not try to maneuver all of Atlanta all
the time. You only go and you only leave your
area for a special event that might be happening somewhere
else in Atlanta. But the day to day operation, you
just stay in. You're part of Atlanta, Okay. If not,
you'll never get anywhere. You'll spend most of your life
in traffic. Okay. Yes, So we try to stay in
his part of Atlanta, and then he knows all the backways.

(01:24:39):
It's kind of odd, you know, to realize these these big,
giant cities, and all of my kids only have one
that lives in Birmingham. All the others live in New
York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, and so you know, anytime you
go for a visit, it's I mean, they got they
know what's going on, and you need to listen to them,
you know what I mean, don't go this way that

(01:25:01):
you know, I mean, you need to listen because they
have to deal with it every day. And so Saturday,
we were going to do a meal and then we're
going to go to this museum there, Fern Bank, which
is kind of a dinosaur kind of but had some
cool walking trails. And Sherry's out of the boot, so
she's back to yeah and so yeah, So anyways, show

(01:25:25):
it out. So Friday night, first of all, probably one
of the best moves that that I that I made,
okay is and and Sherry was Sherry every now and
then would declared that she wants to drive. And I
did not even remotely When I thought to myself that
she was willing to drive us to Atlanta, I said,

(01:25:47):
you know what, girl, that sounds fantastic. Oh really, no,
let me tell you me driving to Atlanta with copilot.
Once I found out that, I just could stay out
of it, and hey, just just get us there. I'm
gonna sit back and I'm gonna be DJ. You know
what we did. We continued the show on Friday. We
did greatest love songs of all time, and so I

(01:26:09):
just sat over the pastor seat and sang to her
the whole way, and I know she enjoyed it. And
I would just sing one lum so love song after another.
That's coreat And you know what I did. I didn't
care when we got there. We left early to get
settled into our hotel.

Speaker 5 (01:26:23):
I don't say you didn't care when y'all got there, well,
you got to be settled.

Speaker 2 (01:26:27):
I was going to try not to be co pilot
and teach. And you know, because there's this thing that
both of us have, then we all have it as couples.
It's very well known. For some reason, if you go
into that passenger seat, you for some reach. I don't
know what happened. I don't know if it's some kind
of something takes you over and you're now convinced this
adult who's been driving since they were sixteen and we're

(01:26:48):
sixteen fifty four suddenly can't drive. They have no idea
how to get anywhere, you know, and I don't know where.
And I've noticed that seat'll do it to you sometimes
I thought that she and she is a back sheet driver.
But I will tell you when you sit over there,
you have to be careful for not to take you over. Yea,
what do I wouldn't do this? Yeah, I don't know
why that that? Are you just gonna sit behind this car?

(01:27:09):
Come on? Pass them? I don't know why you start that.

Speaker 5 (01:27:12):
In So my favors, I'll have maps up in the
in the truck, but Terry's got her phone up. She's
got maps too, and she's zooming in. So it's like,
could you just hit go? Why are you navigating right?
You know why we zooming in?

Speaker 2 (01:27:25):
Just follow the blue line, right? Yeah? And for what
I got right? Yeah, the woman know about here? I
don't know, this says, go the other way. This woman
is telling me a thousand feet. I think she may know, right, Oh,
this is it right here. That's not a thousand feet.
And that's not the name of the road they're talking
about now. That road has a different name. But I
don't know why you're going this way? Okay, you know,
And I'm like, well, I don't I'm just falling with it,

(01:27:47):
says fast. That's what the person is saying. So anyway,
I tried not to do any of that. Her driving
over there, I think was a tremendous move because it
really got us off on a really good start. Okay,
you know, there was now me being frustrated over there, saying, hey,
you know, I didn't get copilot. I didn't copilot. I
don't recall she's probably screaming. She's probably screaming at the
TV right now. Yes you did, but she probably didn't

(01:28:07):
scream out loud no, no, no. The thing does Lisa
does it, and Sherry does it, and it's not even
an instruction. It's this yeah, and uh and then I
think I've hit something. Yeah, me too, and I'll make
an adjustment. What oh, I thought that car was coming over. Yeah,
but it didn't. She accused it. She accuses me of
almost running off the road right, And I'm fine if

(01:28:29):
I almost did it, but I didn't. And it's the
same to you.

Speaker 5 (01:28:32):
Scared me that this Friday she went, don't know, I'm like,
what her reacting to something on Instagram?

Speaker 2 (01:28:38):
Well, Sherry's is that same thing she does when I
tell you her. For some reason, she thinks there's somebody
keeps breaking into our house even though we're the only
two people there. And I walk into the lundroym, you know,
and I'm like, who did you think was coming to
talk to you in the laundry room? Some some random person.
Couldn't you heard them kicking the door down? First, you're
too walking into the kitchen. Hey, we'll be going. I'm here,

(01:29:03):
So I tried not to do any of that. And
when I come back, I'll tell you I just wish
so much. And y'all gonna be mad at me, one
hundred percent mad at me, and you have every right
to be that I didn't document some of the things
I'm about to describe to you me not documenting this
and I just I just couldn't chance it, which I
think it wouldn't have gone over because it's similar to

(01:29:25):
what happened to you at the gas station that time,
and you want to document something for us, guys, some
things I saw you were not going out.

Speaker 12 (01:29:31):
I knew very bad.

Speaker 1 (01:29:32):
This is the Rick Burchers Show.

Speaker 4 (01:29:50):
Oh let's go, this.

Speaker 1 (01:29:54):
Is the Rick Purchase Show.

Speaker 2 (01:29:58):
Thank you very much. Thanks for me with us today,
story us from the weekend. Boy, We've hit a lot
already on the program today, so be sure and catch
that if you haven't on your archive today. Let's talk
about security. You know, one of the ways that you
know that there isn't someone walking around your house that
just somehow got in is to have a simply safe

(01:30:20):
security system. Nobody's better. They're the best in the business.
And right now, if you go to Simplysafe dot com
slash Big Vos, you can save yourself some pretty big money.
We're talking fifty percent off a new system. Rick Burgess
Show Family, fifty percent off simplysafe dot com slash Big Vox.

(01:30:44):
Do that you will get a monitoring contract because you
want them to monitor. First month will be free and
then after that about a dollar a day. And with
their live guard protection. You talk about secure, I mean
they can interact with the property live and include intruders
that may be coming, you know, onto the property. They
can already engage them before anything even happens. If they

(01:31:07):
see a fire, if they see a flood, medical emergency,
carbon monoxide, all that, it's live time they get help quicker. Okay,
So why don't you right now go get your system.
You can install it yourself, don't have to worry about that.
If you need some help, maybe you're like me, then
they're happy to help. Simplysafe dot com slash big box
or go to Rick Burgess show dot com under sponsors

(01:31:28):
fifty percent off the new system. There is no safe
like simplysafe dot com slash big box. Nobody is better
so Atlanta. So night one, Sherry does a great job
of getting us over there, driving just perfectly fine. You know,
at times maybe I'd like to see in a little
more tempo, but everything's fine. Guide us there with no issues.

(01:31:53):
We got to get to the hotel with no issues.

Speaker 15 (01:31:56):
You know.

Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Now this is why you always want to travel, Uh,
and with either someone who is from the heavier community.
You know, we've always talked about if you if you
marry a big guy, you know you'll you'll you'll always
food will never be an issue. So as soon as
we check in, because you'll know the place pretty quick,

(01:32:19):
we start going to the elevator. I said, wow, we
didn't get our cookie. Oh, And Sherry said, what are
you talking about. I said, we're supposed to get a
cookie and she said, well, they gave us some kind
of Valentine's thing and I looked at it and I said,
do you see a cookie in there? And she said no,
there's no cookiees, no heartshap. I said, we're supposed to
got a cookie. And then she said, well maybe they
just don't do that anymore. Maybe they're cutting costs or whatever.

(01:32:39):
So I get, of course, completely vindicated on that when
we come in, uh, after we go out on Friday,
we come back in and guy says, oh, I'm so sorry,
I forgot to do something. And I just looked and
I said, what would that be? He said, I forgot
to give you your cookie? Wow. I said, now, night time,
bad times. I said, let me tell you something, big

(01:33:01):
pop in you that cookie is supposed to be there,
and I said, one of the reason that one of
the reasons why I come by here and known for it.
So anyway, but anyway, so we we do we you know,
as we find out that Big Love got off work early.
That was huge. Uh, And then of course I start
the campaign. We get to his apartment and I start
the campaign. We need to go ahead and go and

(01:33:22):
Sherry's like, look, I've already done. Would you do your
pacing things where you can't sit down? She goes, I've
already done. What of course you require. There was an
option on regular ticket premium. She goes, I've got us premium.
So we get let in first, which was crucial, and
she goes, so we're fine, and I said, all right,
there'll be other premium tickets. And I liked. I said,
I like to see us up front. And now can

(01:33:44):
you picture him walking around big gloves. Now, let me
tell you why I like. Let me tell you why
I like to see us up front. Okay, I said,
I'm worried about parking and I like to see us
up front. Because this was some sort of theme they
did the theme there, like you were going on an
international flight. And so once you get into the gardens,

(01:34:05):
they immediately have different foods from all over the world,
and you you eat like a small plate, almost like
a top of format at different parts of the world.
And so I said, let me tell you that those
lines are gonna get long if we don't get in
there and get out front of everybody. Now, the premium
ticket gets you in a half hour before everybody else,
but we ain't gon people just got I said, I said,

(01:34:28):
what's the harm in us being there? And we're just
standing around waiting to go in. And Cherry said, well,
for one thing, we're gonna have to wear jackets. It's
a little chili. And I said, I'd like to see us.
I'd like to say it standing around up front, and
I said, said, I said, we got good parking, we're
ready to go. So sure enough, we get great parking.
We're the very first people in line because we need

(01:34:49):
to get settled. That's a little we're the very first
people in line. Number one, number one. The bands ain't
even playing. We come. Okay there. Let me tell you
something I no, no ah, let me tell you I
was the look I was already eating in Peru before
before anybody else had even come in you. Uh, let

(01:35:13):
me tell you something. They were five different countries. Okay,
so we got to move. I mean we got to go.
You want to hit all five?

Speaker 1 (01:35:19):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:35:19):
And so, uh we're eating in Peru and I look
around and like the place is empty. At one time
a guy still pick it up trash. Okay, got it
earlier than the advanced plan. Right. They looked at me
like we didn't think it was possible. We don't have
the lights on that you know here. But you know what,
now y'all get up set that See these bags were
holding here in this picture. Inside there is a passport

(01:35:40):
and they keep you know, they okay, you ate Peru,
the don't come back bigging okay, yeah, right, so they
they put a little stamp on We've stamped Peru. How
about we went to Peru to the Caribbean. We were
already done with the Caribbean and and and people are
still not even hardly in okay and uh and even
you have people in there are supposed to be like

(01:36:00):
performing and stuff. And even the DJ looked like you
want me to start a song? You know, can I
just roll house music? Right? So so we we we
go through every single country. All five okay, all five
countries before I even start seeing lines for me. Okay,
and then okay, you's so you were just hungry. I was,

(01:36:20):
you were the only one about that ticket. I was
not stressed. I was having the time of my life.
I thought, this is the most awesome. Of course, you know,
you look around. Our son was like, yeah, but it's
kind of wish other people would come in. And eventually
they did, you know, and I and I'd already what
happened was, I was so we were so far out
in front by the time they were at Peru and
the Caribbean. We didn't moved on to Japan.

Speaker 5 (01:36:40):
You know, can you give me a time, just a
time of day.

Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
We went in six eastern and everybody else got in
six thirtyish. Now there were other premium tickets, by the way,
those people didn't know where to stand. I was in
charge of the premium folks for a while, y'all premium
over here. And and then you know, and I got
the traffic, and I got a little bit of that.
You know, you're doing that thing you do again. You're
not running this listen, I know you got you. Yeah,

(01:37:07):
And she said, now before you need you, she said,
before you do it, because it was a slide and
glass door. Do not look at those people at six
and start pointing at the door. Okay, don't try not
to do that. Well, that was unsuccessful, Ricky. So one,
you had you left the jacket on like I just
like I liked it. I'm plasure for you to getting

(01:37:28):
angry before you ate. Well, and everybody was. Everybody was
concerned about that. He's got to eat it, must eat well.
Our lunch plan was give the cracker our lunch plan
on this trip. It was inadequate. Yeah, well, you had
to get there. You had to get there and get
settle I had to get settled in. Sherry tried to
claim that we had had lunch and I didn't recall it.
Ain't look a bag of funions you joy protein bar.

(01:37:51):
That ain't lunch. We come back. My crew hits the
dance floor. We're gonna hit the dance floor. We're gonna
hit it hard. Okay. To tell you what happened, it
was unbelievable. I've never seen so much of what I'm
gonna explain. We come back.

Speaker 1 (01:38:09):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The man who informed
the Dippin' dots that they were not, in fact the

(01:38:29):
ice cream of the future, Rick Burchers.

Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
Somebody had to tell them that didn't happen. You didn't
replace the other stuff. All right, we're back. So looking
at Atlanta, the atl Hot Atlanta, atl Hey a lot
going on this week Thursday night, Lexington, South Carolina Sportsman's Banquet,
North Side Baptist Church. Honored to be invited to speak
there will Lord willing and looking forward to meeting all

(01:38:56):
the men that are going. I think there was about ten,
ten twelve tickets left. If you want those, use our link.
I think they're going to shut it down today. So
if you're in that area, want to be there in Lexington,
South Carolina, Thursday night, North Side Baptist Church. Only a
few tickets remain, and I think they're closing that because
of everything they're doing. They need to know the final number.

(01:39:16):
So if you want to move on that, move on
that today. The Man Church Conference coming up this weekend.
Speedy and Greg will join me there along with Dean
and Sarah, Ted Traylor, Rich Wingo, Andy Blanks, Chuck Hooton,
Les Bradford MC, and again we'll all be there. The
Gang will be there coming up this weekend. First Baptist Church,
Panama City, Florida. Still tickets available for that conference, just

(01:39:41):
find those at the manchurch dot com under events. Okay,
so I got us in early. We're at the Botanical
Gardens the big Valentine's celebration, this theme of traveling around
the world and all the different decorations and the lights
and all that, and it was great. It was absolutely great.
So we got all of our meals in I think
we ate in Peru, we ate it, the Caribbean, the Mediterranean,

(01:40:04):
dish over over with Greece, Japan, and oh and there's
seems like there's one other. It was India, Yeah, and
I like India, yeah, And it was what you do.
It was the food was fantastic. I was big love
eating on a senior citizens schedule. So early. He couldn't

(01:40:26):
believe it. He couldn't he couldn't believe the entire schedule.

Speaker 15 (01:40:31):
He was.

Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
He was a bit shocked. By the next day. We
were gonna be his apartment at nine thirty nine thirty Son,
that's Saturday, and I'm like, we're yeah, sure, so uh
but anyway, so we and then it happened we had
gone by, and I've kind of noticed that you had
different things, like you had one place would have more
of a classical you know, quartet playing the strings. One

(01:40:57):
area would have your standard you know, every time you
go to somebody's reception off if they've hired a band,
that band, you know, you got a you know, R. E, S, P, C,
T and and all all of that genre, live band,
good musicians, horns, the whole thing. Then then you had
something that was a little more you know, kind of

(01:41:17):
I'm a guitar over here picking, you know, kind of thing.
And then you had you Then you had your DJ,
so it's different kind of music everywhere. And then you
had just your straight up DJ and and a little
bit of a dance for and uh so you saw
that or sunglasses, so that was part of the bag
they gave you. Inside there was there were sunglasses that
were kind of you know, they were supposed to be

(01:41:38):
called rose colored glasses because of Valentine's and all that,
and uh and we looked pretty cool at them. And
and so I was like leather jacket to watch out,
uh huh. And so the DJ, the DJ, the DJ
made I considered the blessing the family might have thought
the mistake he spun up and uh and once there's

(01:42:03):
no way that you can keep from going out there
with the word moving. Yeah, right, and I thought that, gosh,
he drops the bomb after this. You know. Now, keep
in mind, this is one thing you're going to love.
This is going to be the end of the story.
But just if you're if you're watching it home and
you're paying attention, do not forget that Big Papa took
this on. This is a workday for Big Papa. So

(01:42:25):
he's been up since three he's been up since three
fifteen am. But right now he's riding high up on
the on the cuisines of the world. Okay. So, so
he's got a little fake energy.

Speaker 5 (01:42:36):
He's got a fault, he's a little delusional.

Speaker 2 (01:42:40):
How much energy he's got? Okay, it's so so I thought, well,
my goodness, and you know, and Sherry, of course she
can grove good gracious, you know. And and Brooks knows
the words to any dance song ever, and you know
he's gonna be loud. And so I will say I've
never in this setting ever seen now I'm gonna say this,

(01:43:00):
so you get an idea. I'm sixty okay, and these
people make me look like a young guy on the floor.
Oh got you. I've been to a lot of places,
and I've been to a lot of wedding receptions and
things where you still have a band or a DJ.
And yes, I've seen older people try to groove. Never

(01:43:21):
have I seen people this old dance this hard. Never
never seen anything like it. It was. I mean it
was almost like I think I found a pot of
people that no one's ever seen before. I mean that's
I should have been sure, was like, don't you do that?
And I mean, let me tell you, there was a
you know, now, the Asians they age well, but this

(01:43:43):
guy even looked old for an Asian. Okay, I thought
he was gonna ask me. I thought he was going
to try to ask me if I could snatch the
pebble out of his hand. Okay. Now look, I mean
I've never seen anybody that age dance that hard. I
mean he didn't film. He had this crab move. Let
me see watch the hip, watch the hang. I gonna

(01:44:04):
be a little sore, and I haven't. I haven't. Yeah,
my hip, I had to watch it. I think I'm
gonna have to go to the floor, Am I gonna
be uncomfortable to go to the face.

Speaker 5 (01:44:13):
So he's walking, he's walking around, an older Asian man.

Speaker 2 (01:44:17):
He had a woman with him, had a woman with him, okay,
and he was all up in her facing and look
he had this.

Speaker 17 (01:44:26):
I decided, kidding me, he's gonna hurt his Oh my god,
wait a minute, he's covering that kind of ground.

Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
He's running into people. And he would put his hands
on his hips, he would put his hands on his head.

Speaker 15 (01:44:47):
He was.

Speaker 2 (01:44:49):
He was like a crab. He was like an Asian
crab all over that dance floors. We weren't there to
get because you would, you would have film. It looked
like he was fencing with no or so or whatever
they're called. So then yeah, So then then there was
a woman that was in her seventy hip I know,

(01:45:13):
quick feet. Oh his feet were amazing. And every now
and then, of course there'd be some martial art moves
but on the air, yes, you're but and then there
was a woman that was like, I don't know what
song she's dancing too. I got no idea. But let
me tell you something. You talk about somebody. I think
in her mind she thought she was shaking her her in,
but she wasn't you know what I mean. It was

(01:45:34):
like she was trying to get it to go, you know.
I mean, it was just like you're trying to get
out of a bag. Okay, and it's some of the
worst you the best dancers there, I can tell you.
For a minute, I was John Travolta to look at this.

Speaker 5 (01:45:49):
Now we officially are we in the middle of the floor.
Are we on the side kind of feeling it?

Speaker 7 (01:45:54):
We were?

Speaker 2 (01:45:54):
We were steps gotta have the middle. We were on
the side because if you get in the middle quick
steps gonna hit you. And then and then swaying hips.
She's a little reckless. And then and then all of
a sudden, I'm talking about seriously old person, really old
to bogging on cold. He hits the floor and I thought, well,

(01:46:17):
this is not even possible. I mean he danced. Now,
he didn't dance long because he just didn't have that
any yeah boy, but he danced so hard and then
gave us all a look when he finished. What about that?
I just pointed at him. I was like, that's amazing.
Now I don't again, it was just if you still

(01:46:39):
have your shades on your point of course, we never
took the shades off the entire I mean we were
just and then then he kind of I think there
was a moment where the day DJ thought we had
more than we really had, uh huh okay, And we
started out when you word up, and then all of
a sudden kind of started getting in the songs that
were kind of nasty, you know, and then all of
a sudden sharing our dances. So what did you say?

(01:47:01):
And uh and I'm like, wow that the one. Brooks
didn't even see that one, you.

Speaker 5 (01:47:04):
Know, And uh, it's Brooks still with y'all are seeing now,
embarrassed of his parents.

Speaker 2 (01:47:08):
Drifted over to some younger people, That's what I thought, Yeah,
and and started at one point trying not to associate
with us, like drift over a quick step, Yeah, just once.
I got hire once by Asian quick step the human Crab.
But guys, I've never seen I've never seen. The old
people were dancing so hard that the young people didn't

(01:47:29):
know what to do. I'm surprised no injuries. At one
point the young people just just it turned into an
audience like what are they gonna what are they gonna
do next? And in the middle It's almost like I
was holding all together. I was kind of that transition
between the old I'm not going anywhere. I got a
little bit of thist wat, you know, and again right
and then a little bit of a little bit of

(01:47:50):
and then and then and then it happened. I don't
know why my body chose the time it did. I
all of a sudden we moved on from the DJ.
And as we're moving away from the DJ, I realize
I'm done. All of a sudden, all of a sudden,
it hits me and I'm not just kind of done.
I'm talking about if I could have got away with it,

(01:48:12):
I would have laid down. Oh boy, okay. I was like,
I the middle, I think I'm going to bed, Like
right now, you know, we can't lay down that grass
and your energy was a car, I would say, low fuel.
And so Sherry and Brooks acted like they had more left.
Let's go see that one live man on the way,
did Sherry, here's the female singer singing Aretha. Okay, And

(01:48:33):
all of a sudden I was like, no, no, I
don't have it. I don't have it in me. And
and they took me in there, and then this is
going back to the rest, and the guy who was
owning it me on the floor turned into this. You
ever go on the body and your say, it's just
not there. The whole is walking back an still dance
of the party, encouraging.

Speaker 12 (01:48:54):
The whole family dance. I'm like, I get my feet
lifted up.

Speaker 2 (01:49:03):
Yeahy's getting heavy.

Speaker 12 (01:49:04):
I couldn't get my body do anything. They're finally shrig
we gotta go your.

Speaker 2 (01:49:08):
Dance quick for your dad's just swaying. He's done. He's teetering.
Get my body to do it. I mean, it's my body.
Just said if you don't get if you don't get
back to the hotel immediately, we're gonna go to sleep
right here, and that my cookies something, go to bed.
I just and then I started mumbling things like three
point fifteen. Everybody said you are right. I mean, Sherry

(01:49:28):
Lily said, are you okay? I think I'm done. I said,
I give I said, I've traveled the world, I've eaten
all over the world, I've danced all over the world,
and I gotta get back. So here's a brick wall,
and you just get it. I get a brick wall.
It's like you said about monkeys jumping.

Speaker 4 (01:49:42):
On your bow.

Speaker 2 (01:49:42):
I'm like, I don't even know if I can even
get to the carboy, somebody helps, right, sharing Cherry, we
just keep driving rest of the weekend. Mom, Do you
think Dad's okay? He's okay Dad?

Speaker 7 (01:49:55):
Or you are right?

Speaker 2 (01:49:55):
Because you're that was asked? This is your left arm number,
I said, I'm not having a heart Atta.

Speaker 1 (01:50:01):

hot Atlanta, I danced, I could dance no more, and
I was so tired, and everybody was worried about me,
and they get me home and everybody's just like, go

(01:51:03):
just go to bed. And sure he thought she left
something in the car and she's like, I'll go back.
I said, no, I'm gonna go to the car. I'm
going to the car to get it for you. And
she's like, baby, you're done. Just please get in the bed.
You look so tired. We're all very concerned about you
gave us all you had' you've gone you thank you.
It was a great night. You think I ain't got
enough left to walk out the parking lot for my

(01:51:25):
wife and get something.

Speaker 3 (01:51:27):
Out of the car.

Speaker 2 (01:51:27):
I'm not sitting my wife out there, not in Atlanta,
to the car.

Speaker 12 (01:51:32):
I'll go get it.

Speaker 2 (01:51:34):
And she's like, please, just just not worry about it.
You tramp it up, you please. Yeah. I can't even
barely stand. I had leg cramps like crazy. Well Rick,
when you bust moves like that. Oh you get it
all you got? You know what it's called nothing left?
He left it on the field. I'm going there on
the man, I'm going now. I'm already I'm underwear, but
I'm going. Please, baby, hair you sure your hair was everwhere?

(01:51:56):
And she was so sweet, baby just laid that in
the bed and just let me cover you. Just go
to sleep. We need you tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (01:52:01):
What we doing tomorrow?

Speaker 7 (01:52:03):
What time?

Speaker 10 (01:52:04):
Early?

Speaker 2 (01:52:05):
Cover me up? I'm with Brooks early and so anyway,
so we go. We have a great meal. This is
the thing too, I told Speedy, do you think our wives?
What is it like to be able to do whatever
you want to do whenever you want to do it?
You know what I mean? I mean they get to
do any They weren't interest I said, we walk out,

(01:52:25):
we're walking into the car again, and she's and of
course I've had a good night's sleep and all that,
and she said, by the way, I'm done, I'm done
driving now. Just once you drive us for rest of
the weekend. I was like, okay, you know, just all
of a sudden it shifts. Yeah. They have amazing power. Yeah,
and so I'm all right, okay, I'm good. And so
uh so I start I start driving, I get us there,
get it, get us down to the restaurant. And let

(01:52:46):
me tell you, it was probably one of the greatest
parking weekends I've ever You know, somebody looked back like
people look back on what was you know, Tom Brady's
best game. If you look back over my life of
parking in big cities. It was the greatest week I've
ever had, just all everything worked out. Unbelievable. Yeah, I
pull up to this place where we're going to have
like a late breakfast. It's it's pretty salt after but

(01:53:07):
it was raining earlier in the morning in Atlanta, so
I think people were waiting. Uh, and so I couldn't
believe it. I look, there was a parking spot. I
did even had to pay for speedy. Oh, well done
right there by the restaurant walked out. I thought, I'm
on fire. That makes the food better. So we had
had a great meal. Headed to Fernbank Museum. Now this
is a big dinosaur thing. Interesting. Probably probably should have

(01:53:30):
thought through rainy, dreary day. Everybody brings their kids. The
whole wide world brings their kids, and they're ed of them.
After their kids are sick, they're bringing them. I've never
been around so many coughing kids in my life. And
so we we it was like being over Dadler's house.
So we we we get there and you know, it's
a big dinosaur theme and uh, I didn't I've forgotten

(01:53:55):
this year reminded me my oldest son Blake and his
wife person Scilla. They almost got married at fern Bank,
and they were gonna get married in front of these
They have this display in the middle of the whole place.
That's kind of a big deal. They've got a big
bronosaurus with a tyranic Tyrannosaurus bones. It's huge, and they
were gonna get married right in front of it. And
I'd forgot about that, and she was talking about that,

(01:54:17):
so it was, and so we were. It's not that
when there's one inside. But yeah, that's Brooks and I outside.
These are the dinosaurs outside. This is the day after
you do. You have your legs under it, you. Brooks
is trying not to say to us, y'all realize I'm
twenty six, okay, and and y are now taking around
Atlanta like y'all did when I was a little boy. Yeah,
I mean tell me that, tell me tell me that

(01:54:38):
Georgia Quarium is not next Okay. So so yeah, but
y'all didn't dance like that when he was little. Now,
the dancing was him hanging out with his uh you know,
you know, his parents at that point. He did he
didn't like being treated as their equal. He couldn't find
a win next step six five. Yeah, but anyway, so
are you hydrated here? I feel great right now. Okay,
I've had a great breakfast. I feel fantastic. Didn't know

(01:54:59):
would be counted as munch wish, I don't know. But anyway,
so so we uh they were at the restaurant and
it was good that just we had it just like
we liked it. So h So anyway, yeah, I've met
these people. They'll either eat breakfast or lunch, but not both. Yeah.
I don't know who these but they don't live our
life so crazy town. I have a bit of I
have a bit of a reputation that I asked too

(01:55:21):
many questions at museums, and I'll debate the people at
the museum on their signs and and I I didn't
get a pre game. But let me tell you before
I got there, and I'm gonna I don't know what
your name is, sir, I really don't. You were in
a big handle trying to park everybody at this museum
because everybody's bringing their sick kids, and you had your
hands full of people parking along side the road. And

(01:55:42):
I just asked him straight up, hey look at me, man, Man,
any chance I get a parking spot in here. I
don't know if he was an angel. You know how
they say angels are among us. Yeah, he looked at me.
He said, there's one way up on the top of
the hill, one left, And I said, and I thought,
that's too good to be true. How would he know that,
You're talking about a guy who knows the parking. I
go up to the top of the hill. I'm officially

(01:56:05):
in the parking lots of the museum. I'm not out
here on the road. And there's one spot on the
top last row, and I pulled into it, and I thought,
I said, I think that might have been a name.
He wasn't standing there when you got there. No, he
couldn't guide you in. No, because if he was, he wasn't.
So anyway, So one thing I was asked to stop
doing at the museum because we went in so there's
all kinds of presentations about dinosaurs, and of course they

(01:56:27):
believe in evolution at these places, and and they're they're
throwing out age of the earth. It's just outrageous. And
so about the third time I finally got the don't
do that anymore. Eighty seven million years ago, whoa step
out and uh.

Speaker 18 (01:56:41):
And then the would be like, so you're commenting on it,
I'm commenting everything to say something, oh, that's bad science
there and uh and so Sherry's like, just keep all
that to yourself.

Speaker 2 (01:56:53):
Just can we just enjoy the day.

Speaker 3 (01:56:54):
You said that's bad science.

Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
Oh that's the one that I got this no more.
That's when I got to know more. Now are you
screamed out bad I screamed out bad science. Is the
guy or the whoever is I'm talking to I'm talking to? Okay,
it wasn't. It wasn't like the time. And then I
just got to Now everybody's trying to watch a three
D movie and I keep shouting they want to see
t rex and I'm like, well, step out, and uh,

(01:57:17):
it's so oh that's bad science and uh. At one
time we think they all had feathers, five feathers and
so uh so I did. But at bad Science I
was I was told no more, Please don't shout it,
because you're talking to a screen and people, and there's
people in here. I was upsetting. Never had. By the way,
do people not if they're if a kid is sitting

(01:57:38):
behind you coughing on everybody. Does no one feel the
desire to take him out. He's talking, He just cop
the whole don't talk, and then now you're teaching them
bad science and let them caugh on everybody. Do you
know the Do you know the science of germs?

Speaker 1 (01:57:54):
The top of the out This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 12 (01:58:09):

Atlanta where you went that has all the dinosaurs. It's
called Fern like the plant fern Bank and the gurn
great walking trails in the back and all that too.

Speaker 5 (01:59:46):
I think it's awesome that Big Love had to announce
to y'all. You know, I'm not a child. Yeah, y'all
can come over here and just hang out.

Speaker 2 (01:59:52):
I'm twenty six. But what we got to do some stuff?

Speaker 3 (01:59:54):
What's dick pissers with Santa.

Speaker 2 (01:59:56):
There's a lot of Look, there's a lot going on
in ho Atlanta. Now, was did we have the oldest
child at the museum? We did, but by a lot
of coffing kids. Yeah, the boy so much. And my
grand kids. They like dinosaurs, Oh yeah you would. And
it's not them that move and scream that scares them.
There's a couple of those in there, but there they

(02:00:19):
they're either they don't go there was not crazy though,
even those two. When you see t Rex and it
says how voltage don't go over there. This is all
we get from that from you. Well, I didn't have
I wouldn't take any pictures. You were off your game.
You're tired from so far, so hard, that's what it was,
so tired. But hey when I got when I got
your phone, was tired. How quick you think? Look, see

(02:00:39):
there's something. I gave you a picture some dinosaurs up
front them. But you were kind of big on donads.
I love dinosaurs. What little boy doesn't love dinosaurs? I
love dinosaur Okay, so that's why y'all. W I didn't
hate them, probably like you at how about this? Really
it threw Sherry how much I knew about dinosaurs. That's stegosaurs.
And she was like over there and the name plate
would says, she goes, how did you know that's that

(02:01:00):
kind of end of dinosaurs? As a kid, my kid,
my grandkids will correct me if I'm not they know
what all of them are. I don't know anything plan eater,
so that the yeah, And of course, you know, here's
one thing you don't ever need to let yourself remember,

(02:01:21):
is that some of this dinosaur stuff fantasy. Yeah, the
kind of guessing, aren't they? I know when I first
heard that, I was like, we think it would have
looked like right, we found bones and we put the
bones together the best we can. But there's a few
step outs out there. Yeah. And and the more we discover,
the more we're learning, so so any we're not really
sure is that what they look like? Right? When I

(02:01:44):
I thought I thought we knew all that. We're creating
a little bit of a fancy world. The fun one.
I enjoy it. Yeah, I can't get enough of t Rex.
But we we keep changing look a lot over time. Uh.
But yeah, and I will say that the original Drastic
Part one my favorite movies.

Speaker 3 (02:02:00):
Oh, the first one.

Speaker 5 (02:02:02):
The first one was I've got to ask a question.
I might have been dreaming, but I think I saw
a trailer? Is there another one coming out?

Speaker 2 (02:02:09):
You're right, Yes, you're right, there is. It's a it's
a clean up his name in it.

Speaker 11 (02:02:16):
Again.

Speaker 5 (02:02:16):
It's like they get there and they don't even realize.
It's like almost like they're and please forgive me here.
But it's like I saw half a trailer and I
was doing something else, but it's something. It's like it's
a company that's coming in and they're they're like cleaning
up or they're they're they're fixing and they don't realize
that the real dinosaurs are still there.

Speaker 2 (02:02:36):
Well, they must have missed all them other movies.

Speaker 3 (02:02:39):
The Drastic World Rebirth coming.

Speaker 2 (02:02:42):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:02:43):
Scarlett Johansson is in it, and it looks like Chris
Pratt is not.

Speaker 2 (02:02:47):
What is Scarlett?

Speaker 3 (02:02:50):
She got kicked out of the Marvel movies?

Speaker 2 (02:02:52):
Did she really?

Speaker 3 (02:02:53):
Yeah, there was a whole thing where she had like
her own movie and she says that the studio didn't
push it in and he didn't do as well, and yeah,
black Widow. Yeah, Okay, I don't know. I'm guessing because.

Speaker 2 (02:03:06):
In the trailers, like, yeah, you know, they say that
they used to have them all here. They're all not
here anymore.

Speaker 3 (02:03:10):
And I'll say, stop going to the park, that dinosaurs.

Speaker 2 (02:03:16):
Leave that place alone. How many times we got to
talk about show them?

Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
But shoot, well that first got me, y'all. I saw
that in theaters. I shouldn't have why, I was like six,
Why my parents take me dinosaurs to me?

Speaker 8 (02:03:34):
No?

Speaker 2 (02:03:35):
To me, it never You could never go back and
recapture the look on like the main is it paletotologists?
You called the dinosaur people?

Speaker 3 (02:03:46):
You should yes, yes, yes.

Speaker 2 (02:03:47):
I think you're right. So seem glad that that look
on his face always wanted to be one when he
said it was a brief front, but the and I
realized that that's that's weird. It's a lot of digging.
But anyways, so up a lot of digging. But but
I remember his face when as he says, we even

(02:04:09):
have a t rex. He goes, you have a t
rex and immediately you know that's a huge mistake. You
can't And Mamory thought they were all female. Oh yeah,
I thought they had control of them and they tried
to go get raptors.

Speaker 3 (02:04:22):
Turns out they were returning the dinosaurs game.

Speaker 2 (02:04:24):
Well that's true. Somebody said in this the new movies,
they're looking for a disease that only the dinosaurs have
in their blood. Okay, I don't know, Hey, Rick, there's
a rumor it was a t rex.

Speaker 1 (02:04:36):
Is I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:04:38):
Is it as bad as everybody? I know?

Speaker 3 (02:04:40):
There's a lot of changing every war when maybe you
had feathers, you never know, no bad times.

Speaker 5 (02:04:46):
Well, they're trying to sell you feel like you can
get away from something with little arms like that right
right now?

Speaker 3 (02:04:52):
Okay, so if you freeze he can't get you that,
and that hurts.

Speaker 2 (02:04:56):
There's always that moment where they think it's a great
thing that dinosaurs are around. How does anybody ever think that? Yeah,
I mean, just they're dune alone is a problem, so so,
so big.

Speaker 3 (02:05:08):
And but the Yeah, it looks a little lower budget
than some of the earlier ones.

Speaker 2 (02:05:14):
Yeah, I know if I saw a bronosaurus, I might
know that it can't hurt me, but it could step
on me. Yes. Oh. And by the way, we didn't
do the story on on Friday. We just couldn't get
to it. But boy, I've been I've been checking on
that Safari story animals. Yeah, we didn't. That's awful. Yes,
that's one of the things I want to pull it
back out. Well, well, one of the things. Well, I

(02:05:34):
got it, trust me. It's day with me all weekend.
I read it there, I read it over and over again.

Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
Are you are you talking about the hippo attack.

Speaker 2 (02:05:42):
The hippotae and the husband that just watched his wife killed. Well,
here's the first thing. The first thing that Sherry and
I I brought it up to her on the trip
and she said, well, where were the guides with the guns?
And I said, they ran, they ran, and I said,
there's a lossow. Yes, yeah, well they don't have a shotgun. Whoever,

(02:06:03):
the guy very high powered rifles. I'm saying, shotgun is
ins in rifle or something. You're not gonna kick the
shotgun we got. Yeah, yeah, he left a big gun too.
It's a big gun. I've seen it. And they told
us that if something was charging us, you know, not
to run because you'll want to be tired when you're dead.
I think rhinos are known not to false George, that's hippos.

(02:06:24):
And then yeah, it is hip I meant they don't
false charge. But what they said is let me shoot it,
let me shoot it. And they were expecting the guys
to shoot this hippo that was charging her, and they
ran and and the hippo they were faster than her. Boy,
when I studied how they killed her too, it was yeah,
watch it. The power of their jaws crushed her head.

Speaker 3 (02:06:46):
That's the couple right there.

Speaker 2 (02:06:48):
The power of the jaws crushed your head like a melon.

Speaker 3 (02:06:51):
Yes, we've seen them watermelons like it's you didn't have
to like a grape, like a grape.

Speaker 2 (02:06:55):
They cou have so much power in those jaws and
they're so prid of that story. Just give more humans.
Any other animal.

Speaker 3 (02:07:01):
Yeah, it's not gators, and it's not lions, it's not tigers,
but it's not bears, it's not oh my, it's hippo.

Speaker 2 (02:07:08):
But I was just wondering where the missing link was,
and the missing link was. There's a lawsuit because this
guy says they didn't even try to help us the guides.
If they have tried and failed, that's one thing, right,
they just took off running. Yeah, that's a big lawsuit
there end up deals with the thought they could, you know,
be steady and pulling off and they've banged.

Speaker 4 (02:07:27):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (02:07:27):
You never know. Apparently they never actually shot that a
hippo on the on the charge you think they They
kind of said they went to the just don't be last.
That's bad. But there's a lawsuit pending. We'll be back
more of the show right after this.

Speaker 1 (02:07:45):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the show that is

(02:08:05):
willing to search for the answer to why anyone would
drive slow in the left lead the Wick British shows.

Speaker 2 (02:08:13):
It's one of life's mysteries. As we talk about a
million times, I don't understand it, saw it again over
the weekend. I'm traveling a lot. I don't I don't
understand you. And you know when people keep going inside you,
to the right and passing you and as multiple people do,
that doesn't bother you at all. Why are you out there?
We don't we don't understand it. Uh So anyway, and

(02:08:38):
by the way, your cell phone people, you got to
get a grip. You got to stop messing with your phone.
I mean, look, y'all like a bunch of drunks out there,
going hitting the shoulder, bouncing back, weaving over in the
other lane. Look, just you stay off your phone while
you're driving. Okay, come on, don't steering wheel. You got
you gotta do better than that, all right. So a
couple of things I want to hit right now now.

(02:09:00):
Are you still trying remedies? You know, I don't know
you get them from your grandmam or something, or maybe
you're you're buying the never ending drugs they keep offering us.
This will solve that, that'll solve this. Have you noticed
that you've got a medicine cabinet full of things that
don't work? So why don't you right now? And this

(02:09:20):
is this is a stock up cell that's going on
at cbdistillery dot com. These are clean ingredients one hundred
percent natural rave reviews. You can see those for yourself
right now, forty percent off, so you can stock up
things that they help you to sleep better, I mean,
boy or people really raving about how this has worked
when nothing else would. Also, there's there's all kinds of

(02:09:44):
things for stress, for focus. You can go to cbdistillery
dot com right now, use this code just for this
sell v ip V as in victor ip CB distillery
dot com, Cebidistillery dot com forty percent off. I just
use the link at Rick Burgess show dot com under sponsors.

(02:10:08):
All right, So over the weekend, did some of y'all
see Gary uh at the Gary National Wildlife Turkey Federation.

Speaker 7 (02:10:20):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:10:20):
So, here are some things I saw the pictures. I
saw some things he posted when he was he was riding.
Let's see he's I asked him. I said, Gary, how
did it go? This is Saturday? Hey, and I'm gonna
read it in his voice. Hey, let me tell you something.
I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of people came

(02:10:41):
up said they love knee show and people all over
the southeast. I guess that's good. I said, yeah, Gary,
that is good. And I said, did you move all
your calls? How it went very good? And now he
was just stow things in here, like I don't know
who he's talking about. He had sold before he got there.
I didn't know what that means. He what now he

(02:11:01):
wasn't very good. He had sold out before he got there.
I don't know. I had to take them offline on
his website. Oh it must be Hounds two. Oh yeah,
yeah it's back now. All the rain we're getting, I
guess would be time for me to make some more
calls in my woodshop. She's went a good two days,
but it was so crowded we left at twelve. I

(02:11:24):
might try and go next weekend if I if I
go fishing with my friend. Not gonna fly though. See
he transitions. I think he ind to Panama City this
weekend without having any transition. Yeah, that sounds like he's
going back to the Turkey thing again. There's weeks ago. Yeah.
And then he said, I got a store. It's Pure
Gold for the show Pure Gold. But I need to

(02:11:45):
tell you before I say anything on the show. Me
and Ben laughed so hard he almost passed out. He
spelled pasted out, almost pasted. Ben's okay from pasting out.
Hey call me and I'm gonna let you decide. Oh
that doesn't sound good. He's got to run it by me.
Calm down, don't be too early. That doesn't sound good.

(02:12:08):
What that means the story is probably if he I
don't mean whether it's any good or not, whether we
should get to get some trouble. Because it's really good.
I know it'll be good. Get on the air. He's
a little selfie video of him going down the road
saying that Bens is handler. What do you I got
to cackling on. There's a star now. Yes, so he's
going to a new level. So y'all were asking do

(02:12:29):
we need his help here? There's a group of turkeys
and it's weird. They're circling a gravestone in North Dakota.
They just keeps circling it after Is that what you
were saying?

Speaker 3 (02:12:40):
Yeah, I wanted to see if stone is it? I
know it says Harris on the on the stone Harris.

Speaker 2 (02:12:47):
And a good night y'all. Oh no, this is more
than I thought this. Look these turkeys that are like
young dollars these are jakes. It looks like chasing each
other in a wild are they doing it's guys, those
of you that can't see it, picture by one of
those rides at a carnival. There's a little cars on
it going around. They're just going round and round and round. Crazy.

(02:13:11):
A tombstone that has Harris on it in North Dakota.
What does that say on the top? Pet?

Speaker 13 (02:13:17):
What?

Speaker 3 (02:13:17):
Uh that's on the gravestone behind it?

Speaker 2 (02:13:20):
Maybe?

Speaker 8 (02:13:20):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (02:13:21):
Okay, okay, Oh I see what you're saying. I wonder why, guys,
when when you you when you put that video? That's
weirder than I thought it would be. Yeah, I thought, yeah,
that's what they say, like you wouldn't notice it. I mean,
do you think this person was like a avid turkey hunter,
mister Harris, like Gary and this is the turkey saying, well,

(02:13:41):
we'll dance on your grave. That's what it looks musical chairs?
Why would they do that? Well, of all the tombstones,
first of all, why I picked that one? How long
it lasted?

Speaker 3 (02:13:51):
Does this ever happen?

Speaker 2 (02:13:52):
Well?

Speaker 3 (02:13:52):
I mean they they did a trail in the snow.
It's it's it's a snowy graveyard and they've they've knocked
all the down.

Speaker 2 (02:13:59):
To the got them a trail down to the dirt. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:14:03):
Does this happen around trees like in nature? And this
time they just happened around a gravestone, So that makes
it really creepy? Is I mean has this Have y'all
seen anything like this before?

Speaker 2 (02:14:12):
All right, so people are saying, once again, hey bird,
hey bird, you called this? I mean they're not to
be trusted. This is the animals acting weird again. Yeah,
I mean they're at our graves right here.

Speaker 3 (02:14:24):
It says it's a turkey circle and it may be
due to their follow the leader nature.

Speaker 2 (02:14:31):
So they got hung up in a circle, couldn't get
out of it.

Speaker 3 (02:14:33):
They got hung in a circle because they're just following
the guy in front of them.

Speaker 2 (02:14:36):
So one thing, you know, they're not known for their intelligence. Okay,
all right, they're not. They see real good, they're real skittish,
but they're not considered very intelligent.

Speaker 3 (02:14:45):
Okay, well that makes sense because they could just be
following the guy in front of them and not realizing
they're circling a gravestone.

Speaker 2 (02:14:51):
Out somebody said, is impossible. This person was buried with
one of Gary's calls hey, hey, let me tell you turkey,
it's funny where you're going. Yeah, so, all right, I've
never seen this before, this behavior. A little bit more
impressed with that.

Speaker 3 (02:15:08):
Ants kind of getting a circle the death loop of
ants before. Have y'all seen that before? Death spiral because
they'll follow the leader too, and if they accidentally get
in a circle, it will literally and it happens more
in like crazy African jungle countries, but.

Speaker 2 (02:15:23):
Like a no world.

Speaker 3 (02:15:25):
Okay, well that sounded bad the way I said it,
but you know what I mean. Yeah, so ants will
do it. But I've never seen turkeys.

Speaker 2 (02:15:31):
All right, by the way, this is a good one.
So so we think they can see incredibly well, but
they keep circling the gravestone. Can't they figure out? Speaking of.

Speaker 5 (02:15:40):
I saw real where a bunch of ants were carrying
a pop tart.

Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
No way, like maybe a body two taken out of it.
They were like, no, they got one that big with.

Speaker 5 (02:15:52):
Only it's like it was an army of them underneath,
Like hey, hey, you know, let me.

Speaker 2 (02:15:59):
Change honest your down if they if the stalk if
they got a pop tart up, don't you know? They
were screaming greatest day ever. Chris, you'll never get old.
Heave oh, heave O. I will say, I don't know
how an aunt talks, but I think adds closer. We're close. Boys,
don't give up.

Speaker 8 (02:16:21):
A vana right here?

Speaker 2 (02:16:25):
Work they got.

Speaker 7 (02:16:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:16:28):
People say they're Jake's which is a young turkey. They're
just stupid teenager. That could be all right, we'll be back.

Good? How are you guys doing this morning?

Speaker 2 (02:17:42):
I'm ready?

Speaker 10 (02:17:43):
Hey, Look, I wanted to figure out if I is
AI just getting this good or is it real? But
I've been seeing these reels on Instagram where it's.

Speaker 4 (02:17:52):
Jackie Chan to look alike.

Speaker 6 (02:17:54):
I guess Jackie Chan Will Smith and then Martin Lawrence.

Speaker 10 (02:17:58):
And now at Murphy. Have you guys seen those videos
I had there speaking Spanish?

Speaker 2 (02:18:03):
No, I haven't. I sure have it. But there's a
lot of AI stuff. I've seen the you know, Patrick
Mahomes post super Bowl interview where they put different words
and phrases that he didn't really say. So now I
haven't seen them. Uh they're they're speaking Spanish, all of them.
Probably I'm assuming that's what the what language it is? Yeah, No,

(02:18:25):
I haven't seen it. No, sure haven't, but probably sounds
AI to me.

Speaker 1 (02:18:29):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:18:29):
Serge said he'd like to apologize for being a bit
last week. No, Serge, when we when were you a bit?
What happened?

Speaker 19 (02:18:36):
Well that was me that since the images then of
my gnarly injuries, that freak.

Speaker 3 (02:18:43):
Why would you do that that?

Speaker 19 (02:18:45):
Well, you know, you guys were talking about the injury stuff,
and I thought, well, you know, but my dad taught me,
if you make a mistake, admit it, learn from it,
move on. So I'm admitting it and I'm apologizing.

Speaker 2 (02:18:57):
So it was it was so colly that wound. Yeah,
it was so gory. We had to turn the text option.

Speaker 10 (02:19:01):
Off and I apologize.

Speaker 3 (02:19:04):
What happened?

Speaker 2 (02:19:05):
Yeah, what calls?

Speaker 15 (02:19:06):
That?

Speaker 19 (02:19:07):
Don't show us, Edler, you'll appreciate this. That was a
motorcycle wreck. That's three hundred yards from my driveway.

Speaker 2 (02:19:21):
Yeah it happened, buddy. Should I give the stats? Most
people think they've made it home safely. That's where most
accident security when somebody tells.

Speaker 3 (02:19:29):
You that, yeah, yeah, yeah in front of you. What happened?
Somebody pull out in front of you, lose you lose
it on a turn? What happened that?

Speaker 7 (02:19:36):
You know?

Speaker 19 (02:19:36):
Here's the embarrassing part. It was a dog and I
t boned and it and it caused me to death
wobble and come off and I landed on my head first,
No help me?

Speaker 3 (02:19:45):
What body part? Where we're even seeing? We couldn't even
set your head. It looked like ground beef.

Speaker 19 (02:19:49):
Yeah, that was that was okay. See we no the
staples that you did show briefly on the.

Speaker 3 (02:19:55):
Screen, but that was you. That was you with the
staples too. Oh that was you all closed up.

Speaker 2 (02:20:01):
Sarge, thanks for owning it.

Speaker 3 (02:20:03):
So you got lucky brother with this house. I didn't
know what. I didn't know what. I thought it was
his need skin to the bone or something. My goodness, that's.

Speaker 19 (02:20:11):
Uh, that's that's nothing but God in the whole thing,
because there was so much that could have went wrong
and not come together.

Speaker 2 (02:20:18):
But God was all any that.

Speaker 19 (02:20:20):
I'm a walking miracle.

Speaker 3 (02:20:21):
So now did you send us the staples and the
open wound or just the staples?

Speaker 4 (02:20:26):
I think I sent you.

Speaker 19 (02:20:27):
The staples me like kind of setting in a chair
in the I c U the with my neck brakes on,
and then uh the X ray of my foot where
it's all jacked up.

Speaker 3 (02:20:41):
Different guys.

Speaker 2 (02:20:43):
You actually weren't the worst, sir, Yes, but you caused others, Serge,
and that's what you're owning. We are glad you're okay.
Thanks for that. Uh let's continue. Let's go to Keith
in the Free State of Florida. Keith, go ahead, Uh okay,
I can slam dunk contest. Slam dunk contest. Orlando Magic said, yeah,

(02:21:08):
y'all understood that.

Speaker 3 (02:21:09):
Yeah, yeah, what's his name? Mac McClung has won it
three years in a row. Did y'all know there's a
white guy dominating the dunk contest three years. I was surprised.
He plays for the Magic. Here's his his winning dunk.

Speaker 2 (02:21:24):
I surprised the white guy even in the I know.

Speaker 3 (02:21:28):
I'm surprised. This is Mac McClung. He has won the
last three years. He won it just this past weekend.
Here's his winning dunk.

Speaker 2 (02:21:34):
You don't even look that title.

Speaker 3 (02:21:35):
Jumping over that. I think that adds to it. He's
jumping over reverse jam over a car, which is pretty good.

Speaker 2 (02:21:45):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (02:21:47):
I wish he would have stuck the landing a little better. Yeah,
the rest of it was good.

Speaker 2 (02:21:50):
That was good.

Speaker 3 (02:21:51):
He won it three years in a row. But I
didn't know there was a white guy. I know there
was a Honkey owning the All Star Either Slam competition.

Speaker 2 (02:21:57):
Sorry, we're going to hand down a ruling on you.
No texting til mark. Also, people keep asking did we
get an update from the guy who went to visit
his girlfriend. We did. He called earlier in the live
show today and he feels like it went great. That
there were no no drama, no issues. There was a
little something that we questioned about. She had to get

(02:22:19):
the dog put, Hey, give me a minute with my dog.
Oh that could have been here. We got a little diversion,
buying some time for friendly Henry to go out the back.
But but but he thought it went great, so he
said it. There was no drama. So there's the update,
and it was earlier in the program if you want
to go catch it. He even got a cookie cake
out of it. Yes he did, sort of. Uh Will

(02:22:40):
in Alabama's budd Hey did Will? Go ahead? Will?

Speaker 6 (02:22:47):
Is it me?

Speaker 2 (02:22:48):
You're talking to me if your name's Will? Yes, sir, that's.

Speaker 16 (02:22:51):
Right, sweet Will.

Speaker 2 (02:22:52):
That's right, hey, sweet Will.

Speaker 8 (02:22:54):
Last Friday, this would have been a lot better on

Speaker 2 (02:23:05):
Very thoughtful like him. Yes, sure, go ahead.

Speaker 16 (02:23:08):
Well here it goes like mintel blue, well to coming
little Gwen's eyes lake mintual blue, like the alabamaa sky
like a goblin spring. She came and left and Garary
still don't know why. So here's to you and whoever

(02:23:29):

Speaker 8 (02:23:33):
One more verse.

Speaker 16 (02:23:35):
It right in Gary's life like a good old turkey.

Speaker 8 (02:23:40):

Speaker 16 (02:23:41):
He made her his wife because he thought she was
a little bomb. And when he travels to Nashville like
he will really do his mind dressed back to Clinton
in his leg mutual blue like mint blue. Let's it
come with me, Lisa.

Speaker 3 (02:24:02):
Okay, alright, really good.

Speaker 2 (02:24:06):
I didn't have didn't have another course in me, did Joe?
It was good? But yeah? Good? One last would have
been better. To Atlanta. Ali standing by Ali.

Speaker 15 (02:24:21):

am the owner of the restaurants. To visit it I
have I want to I would like for you to
take a quick survey and rate are your experience from
quite three? Just three questions on a scale from one

(02:24:41):
one to five, one being four and five being terrific.

Speaker 2 (02:24:48):
That's pretty good, I will say. I will say no
question four.

Speaker 15 (02:24:56):
Four? Okay? Okay? Where uh did we too much curry?

Speaker 2 (02:25:03):
Yeah? I'm not crazy about curry. Now, My my son
and my wife thought that your cuisine was the best
of our trip, so I will say that they probably
they probably go five.

Speaker 15 (02:25:16):
Okay, all right, and how is your gastro intestinal experiences
the next day?

Speaker 2 (02:25:22):
Uh? Now it's five? Still terrific?

Speaker 15 (02:25:30):
Yeah, okay, all right, that's okay, very good.

Speaker 4 (02:25:33):
All right.

Speaker 15 (02:25:34):
And final question, do you have made Care Part A
and B.

Speaker 2 (02:25:38):
Again?

Speaker 3 (02:25:39):
You have Medicare Parts A n B.

Speaker 2 (02:25:43):
Now not yet, not yet, but it's coming not yet.

Speaker 15 (02:25:46):
Okay, all right. We'll just to let you know we
are here for you any time. You know, I run
a restaurant and on the side, I am also with
senior health care benefits. Please come back if ever you
need to shut up any plans for retirement or anything
like that to be coming back Wood.

Speaker 2 (02:26:04):
Thank you, Ali. Oh my goodness, let's go to Let's
go to Lynn and we tumka Lynn, go.

Speaker 7 (02:26:13):
Ahead, Good morning, y'all. Two things I was thinking them
turkeys were dancing around that Harris Gray thinking it was
Kamala Harris thinking, whoa, she didn't win.

Speaker 2 (02:26:24):
That's possible, that's good.

Speaker 7 (02:26:28):
And the other one you all were talking about people
riding in the left lane and why why did they
get pissed at you when you go around and you know,
they start shooting birds talking about them speed up?

Speaker 2 (02:26:42):
Yeah, I hate that. Linn. I'm like, you don't know
why we're going around you, I mean, are you trying
to decide if you want to go whatever speed you
want to go. That's fine. Get over to the right. Uh,
let's go to Curtis in Alabama to Linz mad about it?

Speaker 20 (02:26:58):
Curtis, Go ahead, Yes, I would like to say this
about Valentine's Day. I mentioned this to a guy in
church yesterday. Okay, would you say Valentine's Day is not
a somewhat of a static relist list, which I didn't.
I missed that word up holiday because it's not. It's
not in the Bible. And there's not any angel with
the air that is butt naked in the Bible. There's

(02:27:19):
only three angels is mentioned in the Bible.

Speaker 4 (02:27:22):
Is that not great?

Speaker 8 (02:27:24):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (02:27:24):
Well you do? You could go to the chair of
them though we do say a vision of them and
they do appear to have wings. But you're right, the
others know. I mean, yeah, President's Day is not in
the Bible either. No, I don't. I would celebrate well,
the the Saint Valentine, that the person who existed, uh,
seemed to be a pretty good individual and uh has

(02:27:45):
a has a lot of props, and that that did
have a a faith based motivation. He was a Christian
that did a lot of great things. So uh, but
I wouldn't go if you're going to pick that one
to be sacrilege. Uh, there's so many others. I think
you might make a better case for. He just don't
want to buy in that the first one. First one

(02:28:06):
comes to mind is Halloween. But yeah, that is that one. Uh.
But you know, I like your angle and I see
what you're trying to do. There, I got it. We'll
be back. Thank you for checking in with us America.

(02:28:27):
More of the Rick Burgess Show to come stay with us.

Speaker 1 (02:28:31):
And this is the Rick Burgess show man who has

(02:28:58):
never been fashionably late through anything week Coaches.

Speaker 2 (02:29:04):
Here we go. Thank you for being with us today
unpacking a number of things where we've I mean, if
you missed, we've been through a lot. We've gone through
a lot today. All right, So let's uh, I got
a haybird hay Burge email. Remember if you if you

(02:29:25):
want to send an email and you're wanting us to
answer it on the show, you have a question, whatever,
just put in the in the you know, subject line
haybird he Burge b U r g heyd j Berg.

Speaker 8 (02:29:38):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:29:38):
So here's a hay bird he burge. So this is
from I don't know if he's trying to explain this.
It is his son. Okay, this is from Derek heybird
j Birge. I was trying to tell my son what
a boumont was. I tried to show him, but I
realize now that the old dictionary from the Rick and

(02:30:00):
Bubba's show is is you can't find it. So could
you help with the definition. And as far as there
one thing you're talking about, the recipes, you have that
in there too, the recipes. If you go to Rick
burgessshow dot com. Uh, ricks picks, there's the recipes. We've
even added some that we didn't have before.

Speaker 8 (02:30:20):
Ye.

Speaker 2 (02:30:20):
So they're all they're all right there, and I've got
some more coming. I'm trying to get Gary Hey that
fried pile things or something from my mama. Uh, and
to get his fried pies thing.

Speaker 13 (02:30:30):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:30:30):
People still want the tenderloin thing. And there was another
one that wanted all have that. I can't remember what
it was. Uh, but anyway, so breakfast balls. I've been
getting a lot bout that that might have been the
protein balls or the breakfast balls, and we have the
protein balls the breakfast balls, right. Okay, So whenever you
whenever you get all your your ball recipes. Just let
us know. So Boomont the Boomont if you want to

(02:30:56):
look for the definition of Boomont Rick. Now, I want
you to be careful here. What's wrong with this? You
understand I'm not gonna be this is not this is nothing.
We used to have it. We told her about all
the time. I know, just in describing it, and and
it kind of it came from Greg and I. You know,
we all experienced this, but it seems to trans to
transcend any any neighborhood. This is Beaumont is the kid

(02:31:19):
in the neighborhood. He always has a crew cut, no
matter what's in style. Uh, he went through puberty before anybody.
He went through puberty. Always had a little bit of
bump about him. Yeah. Not not overly clean because he's
always sweating because he plays so hard and he as
strong as an ox. As we just said, didn't realize it,
doesn't realize it plays way too rough. Every time he's

(02:31:42):
brought into something in the backyarlready hurt. Somebody. Don't let
him hold a kitty. No, all right, I wouldn't. I
wasn't going that far. Don't do it.

Speaker 5 (02:31:52):
Yeah, and he has no what my boys would say
he has no feel. In other words, he can't he
can't read the room.

Speaker 2 (02:31:57):
No, you know, liable to say anything. Yeah, it's not
just physical. And let me tell you something. If you're
gonna put together football game, he's gonna get a penalty. Okay,
you're gonna it's gonna be right and be careful now
and crash the boards and about it. Yes, he will,
he will, and be careful now. Wrestling him. You don't

(02:32:18):
want any part of that. No, okay, it's like a
vice grip. Okay, you got testing. No, no, you have
to go there. What I'm gonna say is he's not
gonna be the class battle victory. I was just gonna
leave it there.

Speaker 15 (02:32:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:32:34):
And and he's gonna play way too rough, and he's
gonna he's just no matter you may think, you know,
I mean, well, right like you're gonna find out no
matter how many times you say in football no kicking,
it's not gonna matter. Okay, oh no, yeah, And don't
matter how long ago you released the ball. Two hens
tag two hens tag means nothing. You don't even play

(02:32:58):
the two hen tag thing.

Speaker 5 (02:33:00):
If I'm gonna ask him to count the five miss
Sydney for the rude.

Speaker 2 (02:33:03):
He don't count very good. And by the way, if
you got him, if you got a bicycle, he's gonna
break it. Yeah, yeah, he's gonna try to jump around, right,
he's gonna break it on the front wheel. And if
you got something, you real life Christmas, do not let
him play with it. He did not. He'll either steal
it from you or break Do not do not do that. Look,

(02:33:26):
look they say no to fireworks. Do not do not
give him fire crackers. Don't get him rocks because the
window ain't got a chance. No, it hadn't. He let
me tell you. And he'll throw a rock at somebody
so hard. And I mean, you don't want him any
part of that. You don't want him in a pine
coom battle. The green you put him, you put him
in a pine com battle. Somebody's going to the doctor.

(02:33:47):
Somebody's going to the doctor. He's gonna take that green
with it and he's gonna throw it at somebody with about
a half a foot. He's gonna throw it as hard
as he can. And you didn't realize that he could
stick into people. And his heads like an anvil. It's
like his head is made out of steel. But I mean,
if his head ever hits you in the mouth, he'll
break to you. But you could trick him and eating

(02:34:08):
the green for simmon though. Yes you could call for
it every time. Yes you could. And he's pretty much
up for anything if you pay him right a lot. Hey,
let me tell you, if the woods are on fire,
look at him first. He may have started. He may
have started on purpose. So that's that's a Boumont. And
and most neighborhoods have a boom mountain and we we

(02:34:28):
use that name, yeah, we we and and there, and
he's so far ahead everybody on puberty, it's incredible shaven, Yeah,
it's nobody else even even a hair on. They're not
a lot of variety to his clothing. No, and it's use.
It doesn't match a lot. Yeah, and he'll go all
day in the T shirt. Yes, I'm talking about the
white one that's dirty stretched, collar stretch because everybodys trying

(02:34:52):
to get him off of him. He's not afraid to
show up two days in a row with the same
dirty shirt. No, he's not dirty shirt.

Speaker 3 (02:34:57):
There his shirt hang and be careful what you make
fun of them for. Oh yeah, there's certain things will
be okay with it, and you'll say the wrong thing and it's.

Speaker 2 (02:35:05):
You know, it gets normally a mama joke.

Speaker 3 (02:35:08):
Oh yeah, or intelligence.

Speaker 2 (02:35:12):
Oh wow, he can't figure.

Speaker 3 (02:35:15):
Did you learn?

Speaker 2 (02:35:15):
Did you learn that the hard one?

Speaker 3 (02:35:16):
Yes, somebody picks up his stick and they're the boom
On in the neighborhood.

Speaker 2 (02:35:20):
They're going to use it. Oh, yes they are. If
you're it's kind of like that hippo. There's no false
charge from Boom. I listen, if you get him to
the point where where tears are and he gets and
he gets a spitting I call it hit and cry cry. Yeah,

(02:35:41):
if he's got to talking of Oh yeah, if you
if you come hometown, we really like him. Yeah, if
you pick him from your football team, if you can
just contain him, he can make a difference. He can.
He's gonna run between the times, yes he is. And
boy he'll come off at age. But now he's gonn
he's gonna hurt somebody. That's the only problem. Every just

(02:36:03):
using a kid that had no business out. You try
and let somebody flavor the first time. Everybody's going easy
on him. Boom hit them as parties again. Again, he
had no kill every sing every single time. I mean,
let's let it run the ball. Come on boon the

(02:36:24):
top of the hour.

Speaker 1 (02:36:28):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Big Box Entertainment prese.

to cover. It is official. If you missed last hour
or earlier the show, however, you get the show. We
were discussing the definition of Boumont, the kid that lived
in every neighborhood, apparently because a lot of you are
adding things that we forgot. Yes, most Boumonts, for some reason,

(02:38:00):
not sure why. Wearing some sort of army jacket that's
a little small. Yeah, and uh, and it never fails,
will invite himself to spend the night with you, and
that always goes poorly. Yeah, you really don't want him to,
but he invites his always tear something up in the house. Yeah,
oh yeah, yeah, so it's it's it's official. A lot
of you actually know exactly what we were talking about, Greg.

(02:38:22):
We all grew up similar. It seems like at least
a lot of you.

Speaker 3 (02:38:25):
Anyway, he's gonna claim he knows how to ride a
dirt bike. He's gonna get on the dirt bike. He's
gonna wreck it.

Speaker 2 (02:38:30):
Yeah, yeah, I know how to ride it. That's a
stupid that's one thousand percent true.

Speaker 3 (02:38:36):
It is.

Speaker 2 (02:38:37):
Don't let him anywhere near anything like that. You ridding
the mini bike? Sure, I have Do you remember the
mini bike?

Speaker 7 (02:38:43):
Whatever?

Speaker 2 (02:38:43):
Have to the mini bike? Have many geers. It was
just a pull crank like motor. Did he go the
way the three wheeler too dangerous one. You know three
rulers that three wheelers are coming back. I've seen a
lot of Are you serious? Yes, Greg had.

Speaker 3 (02:38:56):
Neck braces are coming back to then?

Speaker 2 (02:38:58):
I guess yeah, thank you Adler. All right? So looking
at some Nate from Oklahoma, his son collects, Yeah, and
build him rebuilding in what an obscure fact? I did
not know that? Ye him fit in the trunk of
a car. Yeah, taking it all apart, cramming it in there?
Oh really does he didn't do a pencil drawing of it?
He could? Okay, So let's some other stories out there today.

(02:39:22):
So Bill Maher, which is always an interesting case TOI
don't know what to do. Yeah, so kid rock, you know,
fresh off storming off the stage. Uh news birthday was
at where he was there the keyboard play for Mine Jones. Yeah,
that's David Bryan right. Yeah, and he got macaus. Nobody
would clap with him on Proud Mary of all Things

(02:39:44):
and not just like for applause. He wanted him to
clap alone the song. A lot of people don't want
to listen. Bill Maher has has started discovering that the
left has gone so far that now he even doesn't
want to seem stupid by agreeing with some of the things.
But Kid Rock apparently was on his show and and
has a surprising take on how you get along with
democrats or I guess how he does?

Speaker 3 (02:40:05):
Yes, how he does. And he's being serious. There's one
little quick part I will edit on the fly.

Speaker 2 (02:40:09):
Oh well, tell you what I know. But I'm talking
about is he gonna will will he? Will? You pull
it all?

Speaker 3 (02:40:17):
I'll nail it, Okay, right, nailing it here.

Speaker 21 (02:40:20):
I'm the I'm the bringing people together part. I mean,
you have a song called my kind of Country. My
kind of Country has room for Trump and a JFK.
That's the first line.

Speaker 2 (02:40:30):
Right.

Speaker 1 (02:40:30):
Had I known it would have said RFK.

Speaker 2 (02:40:35):
Is that the last Democrat you liked?

Speaker 14 (02:40:39):
I mean, my whole business is democrats. I mean, so
to speak, not my whole business. You know, I live
in Nashville now, but that's that's the world I've operated
for for years ago. Half my bands, you know, liberal,
gay or black or this like, you know what it's like.
We have one of the most diverse bands out there,
not because of a because they're the best at what
they do.

Speaker 2 (02:40:59):
We all love each other thank you, all right?

Speaker 21 (02:41:05):
And when we played the inauguration that was didn't Nellie
and Snoop play that too?

Speaker 10 (02:41:11):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:41:12):
I believe they did.

Speaker 14 (02:41:13):
And but remember I also played Barack Obama's inauguration.

Speaker 2 (02:41:16):
Oh I didn't remember that. Mmm.

Speaker 3 (02:41:19):
I thought that was a great point. Hey, yeah, I
get along with all these people. It doesn't. Everybody needs
to calm down a little bit, is how he ended it.
He didn't use those exact words, right, but he said,
my band's diverse because we're all great. We're all great performers,
not because of any of this d DEI stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:41:34):
Yeah, he said that my DEI had nothing to do
with the band. Is the thing that we have been
saying all the way back on the years of the
Rick and Bubba Show and continue to say. Now. This
notion that somehow you have to compromise excellence in order
to have diversity is just based on ignorance. He says,

(02:41:54):
my band turned out to be diverse, But what was
he looking for the best and he just turned out
to be diverse because guess what, people of all ethnicities
and all belief systems are extremely good at what they do,
and why don't we go with we want the best
of the best. I promise you it'll still be quite diverse.

(02:42:15):
And the notion that that's not going to happen unless
we lower the standard. I hope we all can join
together and go you know what, that's quite offensive. Yeah,
And he said, I just went for the best band
I could find, and it ended up being a diverse
group of people. But the goal was not diversity of
The goal was a great band that just happened to

(02:42:37):
turn out to be diverse.

Speaker 3 (02:42:39):
He's also launched what a concept his own rodeo, Kid
Rocks rock and Roll Rodeo, and it actually has I
guess you would call it co ed teams because I
didn't know this, but evidently women are the best barrel
racers correct, Okay, and they have the fastest times.

Speaker 2 (02:42:58):
It makes sense, And there's no such thing as men
and barrel racing, is there? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (02:43:03):
I don't now that. I think I grew up going
to the rodeo, but now that I think about.

Speaker 2 (02:43:07):
It, I think there is.

Speaker 3 (02:43:08):
I don't guess I ever did see it.

Speaker 2 (02:43:09):
Men just not want to go around the barrels. I mean,
maybe just the.

Speaker 3 (02:43:12):
Women are better at it, so they let them do it.
I don't know. That's a great point. I just remember
seeing barrel racing as a kid all the time. Kid
Rock mentions, you know, the women are on these co
ed rock and roll rodeo teams that we have. They
face off, and it's not because we're trying to do
it because of Dee I. We're doing it because the
women are the best at barrel racing.

Speaker 2 (02:43:31):
Correct.

Speaker 3 (02:43:32):
Bill Maher then goes, what's barrel racing? And Kid Rock
to the entire audience goes, y'all know what barrel racing is? Right,
and the entire audience goes yes. So in that moment,
Bill Maher realizes he's the least in touch person in
the room. So that was another nice moment from that interview.

Speaker 2 (02:43:47):
Yeah. So so there you go, and some people are
any y'all that know more about rodeo is the search?
Is there such thing is a male competition for barrel
racing at all? Something show up that I've never.

Speaker 3 (02:44:01):
Seen men do it? Men do it okay, just like
I think the women are just faster.

Speaker 2 (02:44:06):
I've never so are you saying if I'm a rodeo person,
I know this is about to get me in trouble?

Speaker 7 (02:44:11):
Oh boy?

Speaker 2 (02:44:12):
And and it'll bother me, Like Jerry said, I may
not sleep more than nine hours not but the the
does it? Is it kind of like basketball? Yes, there's
a women's version of it, but once you see men
play it, you know it wouldn't be as popular, is it?
Like once you've seen women barrel race, you really are

(02:44:34):
not all that fired up by seeing men do it
because they're not as good well iglemen.

Speaker 3 (02:44:40):
What kid Rock was saying on this interview is that
women have faster times than men.

Speaker 2 (02:44:44):
It's rare. Someone says it's rare, but yes, men do
barrel race and they said they think there's even been
one where we live, So I don't know. So what
is that deal? When they make the horse take off
and then it looks like he's slamming the brakes on.
Oh it's so good roping horse rob half roping. No,
that's not the horse that pulls just like he's slamming

(02:45:08):
his brakes on. That's calf roping than anyone telling me
where they do that in caf rope. But he says,
all you do is make the horse yellowstone. They showed him,
but I've never seen it. And they'll they'll spin a
circle to bother on. I have no idea what raining competition.
I don't know. I speak, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (02:45:26):
Horse dancing.

Speaker 2 (02:45:27):
People are saying it's the sliding stock talking about that's
what that is. Raining competition?

Speaker 8 (02:45:32):
Raining?

Speaker 2 (02:45:32):
Yes, what?

Speaker 15 (02:45:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (02:45:33):
What it lets?

Speaker 2 (02:45:34):
You're raining the horse and we didn't do that at
the San Antonio stocks.

Speaker 3 (02:45:37):
You now you were riding those little we were I
was riding the sheep.

Speaker 2 (02:45:42):
You're riding the sheet, which is hilarious.

Speaker 1 (02:45:45):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, still denying any involvement
in the food fights of nineteen seventy nine.

Speaker 2 (02:46:08):
Rick Burgetsy, There we go, brand new show today. Thank
you for being with us as we rock along. What
active week? I mean active?

Speaker 10 (02:46:23):
All right?

Speaker 2 (02:46:24):
So I wanted to run a couple of things by you.
Do you go to bed every night? Or if you
have property that you can't always be, you know, on
location or maybe your office, do you feel like it's secure?
Do you have a good security system, good game plan,
somebody monitoring that. Let me say, if you want to
be sure that you do have that peace of mind,

(02:46:45):
you need to be with the best in the industry.
And that is simply safe dot Com, Slash, Big Vox
and right now if if you're a first timer, you're like,
I'm gonna get a new system fifty percent off, fifty
percent off if you use out where you are l
Simplysafe dot Com slash big Box. Millions of Americans trust

(02:47:07):
Simply Save like we do. And now this is a
company that you know, has been part of what we're
doing for over eleven years now. And boy do they
don't just react to break ins. They helped stop them
before they ever even begin through this live guard monitoring. Boy,
you guys, what a move forward. Remember all the good
things about a simply Safe system. If you're renting property,

(02:47:28):
you can still use it. It's not intrusive. You know,
there was a time where if you were renting you
couldn't even have a security system because they were so intrusive.
You don't have to sit around all day waiting on
the installation team. You can install it yourself. You can
customize it to the property as opposed to a kind
of a one size fits all format. And then with
this live guard monitoring, they are, you know, watching the

(02:47:50):
property in real time, interacting with intruders before they ever
break in. But they can also see a fire that
broke out or maybe a flood. Maybe you have carbon
monoxide that's leaking and you don't know it. They do
all this so you can get the first month for
free on the monitoring, and then fifty percent off when
you get your system and you get a monitoring plan.

(02:48:12):
Now you need that anyway, it's gonna be like a
dollar a day fifty percent off. There's no safe like
simply safe dot com slash big box, they're always affordable,
but at fifty percent off, this may be that opportunity
you're waiting on. Make the move now the link to
at Rick burgershow dot com under sponsors. All right, so
a lot of people are saying, oh my, that's that.

(02:48:34):
There is barrel racing that men participate in. It's just
not that popular in rodeos and you don't see it
at every rodeo, but it does exist. And they said
the analogy we use is correct. It's just if there's
gonna be barrel racing, you'd rather see the women because
they're better at it. Yeah, all right, So some other
things now speedy, I just don't know if you haven't
seen this, If you haven't seen this, now this is

(02:48:57):
the new thing. Have you noticed there's even there's even
like a commercial now where Dwayne Wade is making fun
of the fact about how bad his statue looked and
he's standing there next to the guy. It turns out
the guy's statue is real tiny on top, and he's
sitting there clapping that like it's great. Well, you know
there's also this this world of and we've said it

(02:49:19):
a thousand times. You had one job, Yeah, you just
had one, this one. I remember we told the story
many times when I was there seeing Seinfeld one time
on one of his tours after the Seinfeld Show ended
and they couldn't get his mic right, and he was like,
it's just a microphone. We're not trying to you don't
have to get a full band together, and he just

(02:49:40):
kept holding up. He goes, it's just this, this is
all you had to get, right, Well, Speedy, do you
know about this yet? I've looked at Illinois basketball. I
haven't seen it, but I've seen you haven't seen this.
Now they're going to retire Terrence Shannon Junior's jersey. Oh gracious, now,
the the person who is supposed to have the jersey ready,

(02:50:03):
I mean, that's all you got to do, right? Yeah?
You just you just got to be sure the jersey's
right now, those of you that are listening and not watching,
I'm gonna let Speedy respond in Greg first, and then
we'll we'll describe what happened, but I want them to
see it in real time. First, they're now going to Okay,
they're gonna unveil the jersey, so it looks like there's

(02:50:24):
a curtain and a string hanging to come down, you
know how they hang, and the colosseum is gonna come down.
It's coming down, all the way down. It's gonna come down,
and say, here's where it hangs. Now, okay, are you
ready stick it's upside down. He doesn't he doesn't know.

(02:50:51):
You said. They're supposed to pull it back up to
where it's gonna hang. Now after this, Oh no, it's
upside down completely. You had one job. You just make
sure look at Speedy. Look he's even moving to Speedy
is so uncomfortable.

Speaker 5 (02:51:07):
I mean, you haven't put a cover over it that
he pulls down, I know, which means that you had
to really look.

Speaker 2 (02:51:15):
Okay, the whole audience go, yeah, rolls, that's what it was.
Oh my goodness. Now they would have lifted it up
and now it's wrong. You have to change it. You
know you've got that on the run.

Speaker 3 (02:51:28):
Oh yeah, I got yeah, yeah, I rolled it from
the top, so we know it'll be good.

Speaker 2 (02:51:32):
Good. That's his parents there. How would you really a
good look?

Speaker 3 (02:51:38):
Arena full of people watching.

Speaker 17 (02:51:39):
Oh yeah, I got the I'm doing nothing but watch
the parents got a drum rolling everything.

Speaker 2 (02:51:46):
Look look at his dad. Look at his dad, goes
his upside down. Oh look, Speedy's struggling.

Speaker 3 (02:51:50):
Do you see his dad?

Speaker 2 (02:51:51):
You realize how big a moment it is. Your son's
Jersey's been taking video pictures and you can't recreate that.
They'll never get that moment back. Let's star it again,
come back next week, didn't it? But I'm like y'all,
did nobody look at it and say that's not right,
that's gonna come down upside down? How about that would

(02:52:12):
be like on the list, the number one thing. Make
sure we have it right side up. If you're gonna
be in charge, Yeah, it'd be a good thing. So
one thing that could go wrong. Also, the Warriors video
twelve advert this is interesting. Have you seen this that
they're using robots now that rebound the ball and pass

(02:52:33):
it back in practice. Yeah, because that's a big hassleball
basketball basketball is going right, Look, so so watch us
right here.

Speaker 3 (02:52:40):
This company's gonna talk about it.

Speaker 8 (02:52:41):
It's a tool that bridges engineering and human performance in
a way that's never been done before.

Speaker 3 (02:52:46):
You sound like you're from line downet straight.

Speaker 2 (02:52:50):
Exactly what they needed. Yeah, all right, it's like a
little Girls for ten grocery cart.

Speaker 3 (02:52:58):
Wait to say, is this real? Then? Am I stupid?

Speaker 2 (02:53:01):
It was definitely weird having all these robots moving around Adler?

Speaker 3 (02:53:05):
Is this really my stupid part of the day to day?

Speaker 15 (02:53:07):
You've got a good rhythm?

Speaker 10 (02:53:09):
Now?

Speaker 3 (02:53:09):
Oh no, is that real? I can't tell anymore?

Speaker 7 (02:53:12):
Y'all?

Speaker 2 (02:53:13):
Are you the way the camera shot press shot? I think,
is that not real?

Speaker 3 (02:53:21):
The way he was acting.

Speaker 2 (02:53:21):
They never show him and the machine in the same shot.
And I thought it was real till I saw the
other robots walking around all over the place. Do you
see them off in the distance? I did. Other robot
the robot dogs like robot dogs. Plus we have that
big cage thing you can put on them now that
it bounces back out.

Speaker 3 (02:53:39):
Yeah, you know what, But this was put out by
bleacher Report. It's not put out by like Brick Center
or something like that, which is a spoof.

Speaker 7 (02:53:46):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:53:47):
Maybe a lot of times brick Center put out like weird.

Speaker 2 (02:53:50):
Why it's not showing him and the pretty weird? Pretty well?
Maybe does it chase a ball that if you miss
you brick one, it goes bouncing across that.

Speaker 3 (02:53:58):
I don't think.

Speaker 2 (02:53:59):
Are y'all hung whether you don't know whether it's real
or not?

Speaker 3 (02:54:01):
Well, nowadays everything everybody's actually asking that in the comments,
is is it real?

Speaker 10 (02:54:07):
Is it real?

Speaker 3 (02:54:08):
But I'm seeing that it is real. This is from
the NBA, and maybe it's real. Anyways, speaking of basketball,
you see you don't see Auburn beat Alabama? You got
beat by number one.

Speaker 2 (02:54:20):
That's a good game. Yeah yeah, those of you around
the country it was number one versus number two. Uh,
and that we have some clips from that. Yeah, I
can report on it if you guys want, Yeah, I
bet you can. Yeah, let me tell we we definitely
want a sports update from Adler. Let's come back. Let's

(02:54:42):
give him because I don't want him to rush.

Speaker 3 (02:54:44):
So in college baskets, it was in Tuscaloosa.

Speaker 2 (02:54:48):
So college basketball number one versus number two, and then
it happens to be one of the nation's biggest rivalries
as far as schools, Auburn versus Alabama. And you know
how nasty that can be, mainly in football, but it's
nasty in anything. And so they played each other. Is
it the first time they've ever been number one and
number two at the same time.

Speaker 3 (02:55:10):
That's a good question, I think so.

Speaker 2 (02:55:11):
And so anyway, Adler will give us a full report.
I don't know what I'm talking about when we come back.

Speaker 1 (02:55:17):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The Beasts taught the

(02:55:37):
world to say, couldn't care less Rick Burgess.

Speaker 2 (02:55:49):
All right, we're back. Thanks for being with us today.
We'll say we can't get another. Maybe opportunity for you
to call today, but not thank you for being with
us today.

Speaker 9 (02:56:01):
All right.

Speaker 2 (02:56:01):
So Adler, you know, it's kind of prides himself on
being our sports guy. And uh he he's a big
Auburn fan. He graduated from Auburn.

Speaker 7 (02:56:12):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:56:12):
You know the rest of us, you know, we we
all actually played basketball for Oral. He did play basketball
for Auburn. A lot of people don't remember this. And
at that time he used the name, uh if I
remember right, I can't remember it was. It was a
mosquito or something like that. Yeah, are a lot of
people know he actually went by Chuck Persons. But anyway,

(02:56:34):
so that.

Speaker 3 (02:56:35):
Was the stunt double for Muggsy Bugs in the movie
Space Jam.

Speaker 2 (02:56:38):
You are yeah, so you you this is this is
you know, number one versus number two, which is probably
the bigger story here because I know, when you get
like this about your team, you know, not everybody lives
in the state, you know where the audience is vast
all over and there's a lot of people that don't
care about this as much as you do. But if

(02:56:58):
they're basketball fans, they can care about number one versus
number two absolutely because that's big no matter who's playing.

Speaker 5 (02:57:04):
And this was the first time to SEC teams number
one and number two faced each other and definitely ever,
definitely the.

Speaker 2 (02:57:10):
First for Auburn and these two not recent history, but
over over time.

Speaker 7 (02:57:16):
UH.

Speaker 2 (02:57:16):
These two for a long time were only known for
their football programs, not known so much for their basketball programs.
But that for both schools and is starting to well
for Auburn, it's definitely changing. It's changing for Alabama as well.
But so number one versus number two in state rivals
that that's intriguing. UH and uh, and you you have

(02:57:37):
some of the highlights. Won't you run it down for
us outa what happened?

Speaker 3 (02:57:41):
I do, And I'm not gonna let the fact that
I went to Auburn impact how I report on the show.

Speaker 2 (02:57:47):
I will be unbiased.

Speaker 3 (02:57:49):
I'll be like Cenn, like straight down the middle of
the road.

Speaker 2 (02:57:53):
Okay, got you guys, you report, they decide.

Speaker 3 (02:57:57):
That's right, that's right, fair and balance, okay at Fox News.
So basketball it used to not be as big a
deal at these two schools. It is now a huge deal.
Kids are camping out overnight for games like the Florida
game in Auburn and then this game in Tuscaloosa. In Tuscaloosa,
kids are are lined up intent. So they had to

(02:58:20):
get all the homeless people out of there and they
put them in the students.

Speaker 2 (02:58:25):
All the drug you report, you report.

Speaker 3 (02:58:28):
And then they the students were actually camping out for
this game. One of the bigger interactions that occurred during
this game was when that okay, we had Auburn's Chad
Baker Mazara, he had a brief in brief exchange, things
got a little bit chippy with some people in the crowd.

Speaker 5 (02:58:44):
Actually, I think This is a big miscommunicate. I think
he thought one thing and well anyway you'll say, yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:58:51):
You can see here.

Speaker 7 (02:58:52):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (02:58:52):
The the Auburn player goes into the stands, gets kind
of pushed by some Alabama fans and this woyman here
in black is very upset. She obviously does not have
custoy for of her children.

Speaker 2 (02:59:08):
They decide she has a drinking He turned around.

Speaker 3 (02:59:10):
She's a terrible driver, and she got mad at the
Auburn So this.

Speaker 22 (02:59:14):
Guy right here pushes him, yes, like pushes. The player
can't see that. So he turns around and accuses her,
why are you pushing on me? And she says, I
didn't push you tell somebody down the line did.

Speaker 3 (02:59:27):
Pink Frat Daddy comes out and it gives an extra
little puss.

Speaker 2 (02:59:31):
And she felt like she was wrongly accused of pushing.

Speaker 3 (02:59:34):
And she doesn't have custom of her children. She's angry,
but nobody that's just an assumption on my part.

Speaker 2 (02:59:40):
It is so you report they.

Speaker 3 (02:59:42):
Think I'm safe, assuming that no, you're not on the middle.
On the very next play, the same player, Chad Baker Mazara,
then blocks a shot and it goes into that same
section and it hits that lady.

Speaker 2 (02:59:56):
She's like, hey, it's the same guy.

Speaker 3 (03:00:05):
She's like, I'm definitely gonna cut somebody off in my
Lexus suv on the way home for that ever, you.

Speaker 2 (03:00:10):
Don't know, she mad down the middle. She got accused
of pushing from now. Well, I guess she thinks he's
trying to slap the ball towards her about her. Yeah, no,
he did purpose surprise.

Speaker 3 (03:00:21):
He's an Auburn Tiger.

Speaker 2 (03:00:22):
Gracious boom. By the way, his head is halfway up
the net. He's so high off the ground.

Speaker 3 (03:00:29):
She goes, hey, it's the same guy.

Speaker 2 (03:00:31):
Okay, that's it. Yeah, he's trying to okay.

Speaker 7 (03:00:36):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (03:00:36):
At one point, the Alabama head coach did have to
tell the fantasy stop throwing stuff on the field, on
the on the court.

Speaker 2 (03:00:42):
And what was this about. This is a bad call
or something.

Speaker 12 (03:00:46):
Before off, Oh, seriously, trying to win the basketball game.
We know, did you guys cost us?

Speaker 2 (03:00:56):
Yeah, gets the head he goes and gets the headset
from there, I guess they're in. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:01:05):
I think the referees went to him said, buddy, you're
about to, you know, get the technical or something.

Speaker 2 (03:01:10):
It makes a great point. We're trying to win this
basketball game. Please, y'all don't make it harder on us.

Speaker 3 (03:01:14):
I said, I know this is a garbage town filled
with garbage. People do not throw garbage on the court,
is what he said right after that clip.

Speaker 2 (03:01:20):
Adler down the middle. You're let their decide, You're letting
your your You know this rivalry, people get real upset
about it.

Speaker 3 (03:01:28):
I'm kidding around my brother, Fama fan my brother.

Speaker 2 (03:01:30):
But nobody's going to hear that. Nobody's gonna hear that.
Are you Are you honestly trying to weigh into the
world of these two schools and and you think you
can reason with either fan.

Speaker 3 (03:01:40):
Base y'all been spanking us in in football for five years.
Give me one minute.

Speaker 2 (03:01:46):
Okay, that's real.

Speaker 3 (03:01:49):
At the end of the game, Auburn once again exhibited
far superior class and the what's his name that actually
played for Auburn last year plays for Alabama, Aiden Halloway.
He went through the entire Auburn team and gave him hugs.

Speaker 5 (03:02:07):
Can I say this and this this is a true
fact here of how the players see the game and
how fandom sees the game.

Speaker 2 (03:02:14):
These guys they're like, man, how you being whatever? They're like, yeah,
they're hogging it out because because clients kicked the lost,
the wouldn't be the heavy. Well the again, you hit
it speed. Especially during the World of n I l
more than ever. Now it's the fans can't get along,

(03:02:35):
but players seem to. Yeah, they get it.

Speaker 5 (03:02:37):
I mean they they're competing and want to win, but
it's over and they get it.

Speaker 2 (03:02:41):
Yeah. And that people are texting saying that the person
that you're joking around about is actually the CEO of
a very major company. You I thought you were gonna
say no, I want to say.

Speaker 7 (03:02:53):
So.

Speaker 2 (03:02:53):
But but anyway, that's a right, you're just joking around.

Speaker 3 (03:02:56):
I'm kidding around. We can make jokes as America.

Speaker 2 (03:03:00):
Do you remember back when that used to be true.
I'm not sure, but we seemed to forge your head. Anyway.

Speaker 3 (03:03:06):
We did roll Tumor's Corner, which, hey, that's kind of goofy.
That's a goofy tradition. Look look at me, So I
can make fun of both sides.

Speaker 2 (03:03:13):
They had a lot of paper from football season this year.

Speaker 3 (03:03:16):
Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 5 (03:03:17):
So we were all the way back from Huntsville, Uh,
and we're listening to it and it sounded like a
really good game up to toward you know, to the end,
and it was back and forth. I think Alabama tied
it at one point. The place was going crazy. Oh
it was and I think that's when people start throwing
stuff on the court and then and then Auburn seemed
to respond most of the time, and then they did
at the end, we rose up, like we we rose up.

(03:03:40):
They said the ticket prices for that were pretty expensive.
But the end, at the last game of the year,
they're they're saying, the ticket prices for in Auburn are
like through the roof for those two. And Alabama, I
was listening, has quite a run of top twenty opponents
here the next couple of weeks.

Speaker 3 (03:03:58):
But yeah, Auburn, Alabama will run it back at the
end of the season.

Speaker 2 (03:04:00):
And well, let me tell you what happened. But I
think a lot of people knew that Auburn's basketball team
was going to be good this year when they fought
fought each other on a plane. Yeah, and they had
to turn the playing around to come back. Everybody knew
then that was gonna be a pretty good team. It's
interesting to watch. Did you notice this. Greg Adlers are
expert on college basketball. Yeah, right down the middle of
the road, no bias whatsoever, and Speedy has all the

(03:04:21):
information on ticket prices. Does that surprise you.

Speaker 3 (03:04:24):
I had lunch.

Speaker 2 (03:04:25):
No, no, no, he's thinking, there's.

Speaker 5 (03:04:28):
Had I had lunch the other day with someone that
is an avid Auburn fan, and he was talking about
the ticket prices that like, the average price was like
six hundred and fifty bucks for the Auburn game, you know,
the last game of the season.

Speaker 2 (03:04:40):
That's the only way reason I know, checking.

Speaker 4 (03:04:44):
Checked.

Speaker 5 (03:04:45):
He didn't hardly miss a game. It could have gone
up since then or whatever, but that's what it was. Adder,
You're just made a six year old Bama fan cry according.

Speaker 2 (03:04:54):
To a parent.

Speaker 3 (03:04:54):
Oh well, I didn't mean to do that.

Speaker 2 (03:04:56):
You know, this feels kind of good. It feels like talk.
It feels like the anger that has been directed at
me for the last six weeks now on you.

Speaker 1 (03:05:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:05:03):
Sorry, So I was a joke. Like I said, my
brother's an Alabama fan.

Speaker 2 (03:05:07):
Okay you Adler at Rick Burgessshow dot com. Sorry, Adler
at Rick burgesshow dot com.

Speaker 3 (03:05:14):
It's all jokes. Our football team sucks. Make fun of that.

Speaker 4 (03:05:17):
I don't care.

Speaker 2 (03:05:18):
Yeah, it was a great report. You gave us all
the facts to try right down the middle of the road. Baron,
that's right, he reports, you decide all right, so we'll
be back more of the show. We're almost wrapping up
another day to gain man. They go by quick jumping. Alright,
this is what happened when you're having fun.

Speaker 3 (03:05:39):
We'll be right back.

Speaker 1 (03:05:42):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. They are the uncles
your pellans warned you about the Rick Worches.

Speaker 2 (03:06:03):
Yeah, but you know what times of fun, times of fun.
A lot going on this week America is let me
tell you something. We'll be hitting lots of markets starting
Thursday night, Lord Willing, I'm honored to have the opportunity
to go to beautiful Lexings in South Carolina. I'll be

(03:06:23):
speaking at the Sportsman's Banquet at north Side Baptist Church.
The latest I got was that there's only a handful
of tickets left before it sails out, and they're going
to close down tickets today. So if you want to
be there, go to Burgessministries dot com and just look
under events. You'll see the information there on how to

(03:06:43):
get tickets. And look forward to seeing all of you
coming up on Thursday night. Boy, they got a great
night planned for all of us. And then coming up
this weekend the next Man Church Conference. And you heard
the reviews from the men that went to the Birmingham
when Wow, I've had so many emails and testimonies about
that weekend. Powerful weekend. But Panama City coming up this weekend,

(03:07:06):
Dean and Sarah, Ted Traylor, Rich Wingo, Andy Blanks and
I will all be speaking. Chuck Hooton will be taking
care of the praise and worship nobody better and it
will be a powerful weekend. This look, guys, I'm telling you,
if we've got men coming from multiple states, if you
can get there, get there, because what's gonna happen. You're

(03:07:28):
gonna go to work on Monday and your buddy's gonna
tell you they were there, and like, man, you missed it.
So if you get ten tickets or more, you get
a ten dollars discount per ticket, and you can find
all that information at Themanchurch dot com under events. Speedy
and Greg are able to be there, Adler's not gonna
be able to be there, and Gary has some weird
possibility that hey, I got a buddy that might want

(03:07:49):
me to come down and go fish. So I don't
know how that's gonna work out, but anyway, so looking
forward to seeing you there. And also the book that
I'm not allowed to talk about because it's not coming
out out to the spring. We do have copies available
for those that come to the conference. It's kind of
an advanced copies of the book Men Don't Run in
the Rain, and so it will be there with the

(03:08:11):
other resources as well. So if you've been wanting to
go ahead and get an advanced copy, there's only maybe
four hundred and something of them left, so we'll have
those at the conference, and if there's any left after that,
we'll have them in Atlanta as well, and then the
book will come out officially sometime in May. So excited
about the feedback I'm already getting for men who have

(03:08:31):
already read the book. Got another pat on the back
Greg over the weekend from your son Taylor said he
finally got to finish it and it sent me a
very kind text, And I said, you know what for
those you like, your daughter already sent me one, and
your son, those of you that knew the man very well,
you know you to hear, hey, this was this honored

(03:08:51):
dead and read mom. Yeah, so anyway, so it's and
it is a lot of fun.

Speaker 5 (03:08:56):
Men, well good I have in the process, but knowing
the stories and the way, it's really well written. But
you really for people that have never met your dad
and didn't have the honor of doing that, you paint
a picture of him that's perfect.

Speaker 2 (03:09:12):
I had a guy who went to the Birmingham A
conference and got won at church yesterday and we were
walking out and he goes, I don't know if this
was the intention, and I'm like, well, I just wanted
to try to be acrid. And I've never really written
a book book. I've written devotionals and those books that
Bub and I did. We both were opened about that.
We basically got interviewed by someone who actually wrote it.
But I mean it was our stuff, but we didn't

(03:09:32):
sit down and type it out. This first time I've
ever done that, you know, other than the Bible studies
and devotions. And the guy said, I don't know if
this is what you were going for. He said, but
there were times which about Dad doesn't surprise you. He said.
I was laughing out loud, and then I was crying
and everything in between. And I was like, well, you
know that too.

Speaker 5 (03:09:51):
That's why when I asked you if you actually wrote it,
I didn't mean that as a negative kind of did
because I was like, did.

Speaker 13 (03:09:57):
You do this?

Speaker 7 (03:09:58):
Well?

Speaker 2 (03:10:00):
Well yeah, it was like really good, really well, It's
not something that that comes easy to me. But I've got,
you know, my wife who's outstanding and really gifted at it.
I've got Andy who helps me along the way too,
and they're both great writers. So I had some good training.
And finally when I finally connected is when I was
told by by Sherry and Andy stopped trying to write it,

(03:10:23):
just tell it, you know, and you know there's options.
You can just talk into the microphone and then you
know they Andy kind of cleaned up the grammar and
all that. So h just just right the way you talk.
And what I found myself is is, you know what's weird.
I found myself not being as detailed writing as I
am when I'm telling stories. Well, it ought to be
just the opposite. So so I tried to go back

(03:10:44):
and do that. So I'm I'm glad to hear that
it turned out well. It was, it was, it was.
It was a pleasure to do it. I enjoyed this
project because of how much I love my dad, and
he's such an easy topic. You never grow weary of
talking about him. Yeah. So yeah, yeah, Like I said,
when he passed, we lost a lot of content.

Speaker 1 (03:11:04):
Uh So.

Speaker 2 (03:11:05):
Anyway, so that that's coming up this weekend, looking forward
to that. Uh, here's a couple of things we didn't
get to today. We know how inspiring Kamala Harris can be.
Uh and so apparently she was going to try to
inspire the cast of Louis Armstrong, the musical that is
on Broadway. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:11:23):
I don't know what.

Speaker 2 (03:11:24):
I don't know who calls Kamala in for this. I'll
tell you what we need the Louis Armstrong cast motivated.
Somebody bring in Kamala if you follow this, what on
her resume ever? Said inspirational speaker? Motivational speaker? So here
is Kamala trying to inspire the cast of Louis Armstrong
the musical on Broadway.

Speaker 3 (03:11:45):
Ain't for those rights to be maintained, which means we
have to be vigilant. And it's just the nature of it.

Speaker 8 (03:11:51):
I mean what I mean in this beautiful play.

Speaker 13 (03:11:54):
And everything that we know.

Speaker 11 (03:11:56):
He ended that he was supprising he had to suppress
so much.

Speaker 2 (03:12:00):
But you know, you took those risks.

Speaker 10 (03:12:02):
But we have to we have to pick a clear eye.

Speaker 2 (03:12:05):
And it doesn't mean we don't see the beauty and everything, right,
these things all coexist.

Speaker 3 (03:12:12):
But I believe we fight for something, not against them,
and that's where.

Speaker 2 (03:12:22):
Thank you. So she just knocked it out of the park.
Did her face? Did you make no sense? I felt
so bad for the cast because they were looking for
anything wanted to be and they were pulling for man,
they were pulling for Okay, it's been a rough day
for you.

Speaker 5 (03:12:39):
Now, I just thinking about how luddy lucky the country got.

Speaker 3 (03:12:43):
Yes, well, that's like when she gets to do this,
we have to be vigilant. We have to be and
we can't forget the beauty.

Speaker 2 (03:12:55):
You can't.

Speaker 3 (03:12:58):
We must press on.

Speaker 2 (03:12:59):
Yeah, well we're fine. We were fighting for something, not again,
and you know that that was probably the closest she
was in that to make a point, you know, and so.

Speaker 3 (03:13:08):
It was an empty platitude.

Speaker 2 (03:13:09):
But still well, now she's the king of that.

Speaker 8 (03:13:12):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (03:13:14):
A sleep specialist is now backing RFK Junior's movement to
change school start times in America. So a sleep expert
is part of the make America Healthy Again movement, and
he says that we need to change the hours that

(03:13:35):
high school kids are not able to be sharp and
focused and learn. It doesn't matter how good the schools
are are, the teachers are, the reputation. Kids are exhausted
in school and we need to change the day. Maybe
change now. I know a lot of parents are thinking,
just when I figured out how to get my kids
to school at home, y'all gonna change it again?

Speaker 21 (03:13:58):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (03:13:59):
It says we need to at the kids an opportunity
to get nine hours of sleep, which is impossible right now. Well, Rick,
they gotta play video game for at least three hours. Well, no,
that's true, So let's don't get into that, is he saying,
because of the demand on them once they get home
and then the time we want them to get back.

(03:14:19):
I guess I'm trying to figure out if you need
nine hours of sleep, don't you just go to bed
nine hours for you? He says that school should start
no earlier than eight thirty am for high schools and
eight am for middle schools? Are we starting earlier than that?
It's in the seventh I think, is it okay?

Speaker 7 (03:14:37):
All right?

Speaker 2 (03:14:37):
Well, that's a.

Speaker 3 (03:14:40):
Queen seven thirty and eight and a lot of.

Speaker 2 (03:14:41):
Them a day. Yeah, okay, so he's really only talking
about an hour right here, so a big decision, but
he's in.

Speaker 3 (03:14:48):
He's officially in. I don't know if we ever mentioned that,
And Tulsi's officially.

Speaker 2 (03:14:51):
In keep Oh yeah, that's true. They've both been. He
was confirmed RFK Junior and Tulsia Gabbert as well. Thanks
for being with us. If this ends it for you,
don't forget the daily Are Cops pick up any part
of the show you might hi miss.
