Speaker 2 (00:16):
You know what we say all time, You gonna tell
you gotta find.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world. The Rick
Burchard Show.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
That's right, baby, we're back.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Thank you for being with us on this brand new
hour and on this brand new day, a.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Brand new show. We're glad you're here.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
We'll unpack what has happened in the world that is
the last time we were together. Greg Burgess is back,
so we welcome him back. Admir Speedy all here, and
as we move forward, some things to kind of make
note of.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
We are opening the Vox seats.
Speaker 3 (01:07):
You know you've heard people say before how you go
into the game in the box seats. We're here are
the VOX seats for Big Vox Entertainment, which stands for
big Voice for those of you that are figuring out that.
So we'll have folks in those seats today and somebody
(01:28):
in the seats randomly will be drawn for a shot
at the wheel of bundles, bits and bucks. See if
we can get a winner today. And of course it'll
be that process that we always say. We set it
back in the thirty one years of the Rick and
Bubba Show, and we say it on the Rick Burgess Show.
If you're coming to visit the show, you know, it's
(01:51):
our gift to you. The seats are are free. You
do need to reserve them. You're not required to bring
us anything. Do people will bring us stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
That they do? Uh? Does it?
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Does it look like some are planning to bring us
something here in the new era? Sounds like it. Will
it be awkward if awkward if you're coming and people
bring things and you don't. Probably, but it's not a requirement,
not require I'll tell you that you can work through it.
So anyway that I look forward to that coming up.
And uh, you know, we also have the new basketball goals.
(02:26):
You know we could we can have some fun with
that too.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
So we'll we'll unpack all that and look forward to
that also.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
This is an active, active month. We got a lot
going on, especially in the world of men's ministry, which
you know we've been very much involved in, uh with
the Manchurch dot Com. But we also partner with other
organizations out there, other ministries.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
So we have We've got some one conference this weekend
in Monroe, Louisiana, the Dry Bones Conference. I'm honored to
be asked to come and speak. We'll also have some
of our resources in the lobby from Themanchurch dot Com.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
JD.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Greer will be there, Fred Luter, Phil Waldert will be speaking.
Charles Billingsley is leading worship. So I look forward to
to giving Charles a hard time. Then I'm sure he's
looking forward to giving me a hard time. There's also
others who will be speaking that you can find all
that by going to the events. Just click events and
you'll see our link to them to get your tickets
(03:25):
and also see the others who'll be speaking. But after that,
the last two weeks of February, we have two Man
Church conferences, one in Panama City, Florida, and Dean and
Sarah will be one of one of the men speaking
at that particular location on those particular dates. He has
been on the Has he been on the Big Show?
(03:48):
I know we had him on when used when we
used to do Rick and Bubb University, he was a
guest there. I don't know that we've ever had him
on the Daily Show, but we're having him on today.
He's written some incredible books. Pastor out of Tallahassee, Florida.
I will say in the Wednesday Bible Study. His book
The Unsaved Christian is probably brought up to me. I've
(04:11):
gotten more emails about that series than most any Definitely
definitely the most talked about book we ever went through
that somebody had written. We've had books of the Bible
that I obviously generated a lot of talk, but as
far as taking a book on a topic, and the
topic is about cultural Christianity, you know. He talked about
(04:34):
when he left seminary that he was disappointed because he
he had gotten a call to go and preach in
the Bible Belt in Tallahassee, Florida, and he thought, well,
all my all, my other colleagues are going off to
California and to the Northeast and all these places where
they'll meet all this opposition. And he said he discovered
pretty quick that he actually was going to the toughest
(04:57):
call because where his friends were going and his colleg leagues,
no one is delusional about already being redeemed. They're either
all in or they completely resisted. But in the Deep South,
everybody's going to have it. And so the book is
about being delusional about truly being redeemed just because you
believe the right things. And it is a really really
(05:21):
and some of the things, you know, there were some
parallel thinking that we've all covered and thought about before,
but he does such a good job of laying it
out in that book. And he's written other books and
I'll mention those to you as well when we interview him.
But honored to have him. And he's also a really
good speaker and preacher. So he'll be a part of
the lineup coming up in Panama City, which is February
(05:41):
twenty one and twenty two, and tickets are.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Still available for that too.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
But I look forward to that conversation because he's one
of those guys in the pullpit that isn't afraid to
take on tough things like cultural Christianity and isn't afraid
to preach the truth even if that upsets you a
little bit. So I look forward to having that conversation
with him. So that's coming up later on the program today. Greg,
(06:07):
I know that you were not able to be here yesterday.
Give us an update on Lisa. Well, she's doing good.
This is all tied to if remember last year she
had like kidney infection, oh stones and testing you know
all that. This is basically tied to that and got
a good plan. Talked to doctor yesterday. Everything's good. So
she made the statement she twenty twenty four health wives
(06:30):
with stuff, she wanted to thrive in twenty five.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
Let's drive and we've got a good plan and everything's
going to be good.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Good.
Speaker 2 (06:39):
Well, appreciate the prayers.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, and I think those prayers were answered because we
got real specific yesterday.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
I know you were busy, man, I've heard that.
Speaker 3 (06:47):
I said, let's get real specific and let's pray for
proper diagnosis followed by solutions. And we feel like that's
that's exactly what we have. Good good, She's yeah, like
I say work. I mean he's hit this the doctor yesterday.
He's got a good plan, so then she can thrive
in twenty five.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Well, let me tell you what's funny. I love because
you know the wives, they don't find their way here much.
And and and it's funny because I was in in
my office working on some stuff and Greg stuck his
head around. I'm like, what are you doing here? And
he was like, well, I want to ask you the
same thing. Uh, you know, and and I said, well,
I'm just finishing it up some stuff and he goes, okay, good,
I need to tell Lisa that you're the only one
(07:26):
in here. She'll come in here if you're here, you know.
And so we got this. It was funny to have
lely and.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
Okay, yeah, yeah, we were on the way back out
of commercial. I had to cut. That's okay.
Speaker 3 (07:37):
By the way, what should I have cut one of
those two? I got it covered, okay, yeah, okay, But anyway,
I didn't think about that till weeks we had both left.
That's but yeah, I got it. And uh, but anyway,
it was good to see Lisa. Yeah, the first time
she's she watches the show. But so she saw the
new design that Adler and and Wormwood and all.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
The all those folk. That's such a good job.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
And she said, I've seen it, and she said it
looks great on TV, but for those of you that
are coming today, and a little pat on the back
for you, she said, it looks even nicer in person. Yeah, yeah, awesome.
Speaker 5 (08:13):
Yeah that's what people say about me.
Speaker 2 (08:17):
Yeah they do. So you know, when you see it,
he's pretty fine. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (08:20):
Yeah, he's a lot taller than taller he'd be a hobbit,
but he's a normal person.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
He's average hime. I bet he lives in a full
size house. We did get that. At the mand church,
I heard a few guys go, you know, you are
taller than I thought the way they described you, you're.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Yeah, everything is here, everything here is kind of you
picturing your mind the worst case scenario, you know, like people,
you know what, Rick, you're fat, but not You're not
as fat as I thought you did they think, doesn't
come thank you, thank you very much. So I am
still fat. Oh yeah, you're fat, but.
Speaker 2 (08:57):
Thought gonna. Did you see that picture of us at
Disney World? Yes, we need all going through this chubby
stage and he's tearing up ice cream. No, but once again,
you know what, you know Cherry took away from that picture?
What's showing here when we come back? You know what
Sherry took away from that picture? You were enormous?
Speaker 7 (09:17):
She goes, were you said?
Speaker 2 (09:18):
How big a child were you? You were? My head
was like in his shoulder in this picture.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Not only am I tall, but I'm also thick tearing
up a large kid.
Speaker 2 (09:29):
I can't even put the ice cream down for a picture.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Our mom's like in her early Our mom's in her
early thirties it's just it's pretty funny. But if you
looked at me and Rick, it's even now, but then
there's no way you thought.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
We were brothers.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
We one ounce of resemblance now and and and Sherry
always does that thing she goes looks it almost looks
like that you're not the same ethniciany as your family.
Speaker 2 (09:52):
And I was like, what my sisters. She's like too,
just towering. Yeah, that's great. I'll send uh, I'll send

this is?
Speaker 2 (13:14):
Greg?
Speaker 3 (13:14):
You can help us. You're better at family history than me. Yeah,
I think I think what our age here kept me out?
Where do you think I think I'm around ten okay, okay, okay,
you're ten. Gangie was about two years old, you would
be eleven, eleven, twelve, we're like twenty months apart. Yees
something that we're not quite two years apart. So here
is the castle at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Maybe all right?
Speaker 5 (13:39):
So are we ready to reveal this right now?
Speaker 3 (13:42):
Okay? Are we ready to have both the Vista Cruiser
station wagon just for this trip?
Speaker 2 (13:46):
We drove it.
Speaker 3 (13:47):
We drove it flying not an option for our family, huh.
So we all piled into the Vista Cruiser, oldsmobile, wood
paneling down the side, sure station wagon, and Greg and
I were stuffed in that little back area. Yeah, and
I think, yeah, a foe to the middle seat down.
We had the whole run we may have. We basically
just lived in it like it was a home.
Speaker 2 (14:07):
Nobody was buckled, I'll tell you that.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
No, not one person, not even our sister who was
riding on the arm.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
It was two years old. Yeah, and I don't know
how safe that.
Speaker 5 (14:14):
Was, miss great a different time.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
It was just somebody.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Yeah, of course, you know, if you if the chips
are down, we're a lot tougher people. Yeah, unlike now
and we had the ability to cope with difficulty and
a lot of Karen's out there pointing no, no, and
not one Margaret.
Speaker 2 (14:32):
And if you were buckled, it just went to across
your waist. Yeah, you could find it because that would
be shived so so deep.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
I tell you one thing, you didn't have anybody at
church with wrinkled clothes because they just wouldn't put their
seatbetal if if the car even had one. I remember
the first car I saw that had that automatic belt that,
Oh God said, that's crazy.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
I feel that sounds attacking you.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Yeah, yeah, huh so, so you're going to see this
is what you have here now keeping mine? Don't miss
this is a picture I guess Dad takes.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
I understand Rick is less than two years older than me.
Speaker 3 (14:58):
You understand that. Yeah, we're even two full years.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Apo.
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Look at the difference of those physicals, and we're ready for.
Speaker 3 (15:04):
Noticing my hand, not giving up the ice cream for
the picture, not even for the picture, not even for
the show. You'll see our sister's around too. She's in
a stroller. Mama's in her thirties. It's a little blurry.
It's a little blurry. It's not it's not a clear picture,
and and it's a picture of a picture. That's why
it kind of has a little bit of a weird
wonky look, but you get you get the gest of it.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
Are we ready for this? Oh? My goodness?
Speaker 2 (15:25):
And there and there we are? Look how young your mom?
Speaker 6 (15:30):
Your mom.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
In his hand his ice cream ice screaming for me
and he put it down. Yeah, so looks disgusted, right,
I'm yeah, of course, you know, like always, apparently we can't.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
My sister must want some of what I have because
you're looking right after the ice.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
Yeah, I'm starting to wonder did you take the ice
cream very as possible?
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Gave they just gave up on her looking in the picture.
I get it with my grandkids. You can't take a
picture of them with them looking at well, you're not
looking at the camera either, What.
Speaker 2 (15:59):
Do you look?
Speaker 8 (16:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (16:00):
What are you looking at? String bean?
Speaker 3 (16:04):
I'm just trying to pose you're being cool, but you're
right back on.
Speaker 7 (16:09):
I got kind of.
Speaker 5 (16:10):
Knocked out of gear a Disney World.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
That's right, road.
Speaker 3 (16:13):
Space mountain, right, So yeah, look and look at the
size difference in Greg.
Speaker 5 (16:17):
And my goodness, gracious.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Yeah, we don't even look like we're ken.
Speaker 6 (16:24):
Yeah, Oh my goodness, right, why do y'all have the
same Why did y'all say I have the same hair?
Speaker 5 (16:29):
And why is it lego hair?
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Seventies?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Look at that ice cream?
Speaker 2 (16:37):
What's that?
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Some kind of ice cream bar or some kind you
think one of those melting?
Speaker 5 (16:44):
It all looks like Harry and Lloyd.
Speaker 2 (16:47):
Looking him, cheeks, looking him, monk jeeks. Oh my god,
it's unbelievable.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Now rocking her thirties there, Yes, fantastic.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
You can't imagine your parents young.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
You know, I'm a little uncomfortable with mom shorts.
Speaker 6 (17:08):
Sons out the skies outside, Mama, that's a lot of legs.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
The world short shorts back then, Well that's my mama.
She's laughing right now. So so there it is. I
really do think that was what I wanted to say,
And give me, give me my ice cream back. It
does look that way, and and and Greg's disgusted with
the argument.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Well that was that was our one and only trip
tradition with the flavors and that or you dropped your Yeah,
mister Sherbert, you couldn't take Greg anyway, couldn't even he
was even picky about ice cream.
Speaker 1 (17:47):
I want Sherbert.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
Oh gosh, they don't have a you've heard of just
having a chocolate ice cream cone.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
Yeah. People say Rick looks like big Love.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
I really do.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
Yeah, oh yeah, that's a little sure. There's a lot
of it.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
There's a lot of yeah, no doubt about that. So
there it is. And like I say, that's uh. We
all had the Dutch boy haircut.
Speaker 5 (18:09):
I mean, Prince Valiant Dutch.
Speaker 4 (18:12):
What is going on?
Speaker 2 (18:13):
Brown?
Speaker 4 (18:15):
Brown?
Speaker 3 (18:16):
And everybody had bangs. Oh yeah, straight trowser if you're
coming in the middle. That's when we got older. Yeah,
the angel wins.
Speaker 8 (18:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:25):
People saying then your prayers didn't have to put a
second mortgage on their home to even go to Disney.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
World's true, that's probably true.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
I don't even know what.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Rides they even had. There weren't there weren't a lot
of a rioting.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Now you and Mom were the only ones actually looking
at the camera now you Yeah, I don't rest of
them went on any bottom of the hour.
Speaker 2 (18:42):
Will be right back.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Can't get out of
the car funny show.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Yeah, man, a moment here here, you miss a line?
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Yeah, okay, so we're back. Uh, those of you that say,
all right, I listened to the show. I can't see
these things. I'm not watching on YouTube. I just posted
that picture on my Instagram, So go enjoy, enjoy having
(19:22):
sign at our expense. Somewhere in the mid seventies, Rock
and Orlando Disney World. So and by the way, somebody
said that Adler caught himself and it would have been
a horrible moment. Uh, somebody saying, did you notice that
Adler almost said speaking about our mama and her shorts,
(19:43):
sons out, buns out, but he caught himself. Yeah, that
was you know, thanks for that, buddy.
Speaker 5 (19:50):
I changed the disgui's out ties out look, and now
it's causing a couple wandering eyes that day.
Speaker 9 (19:55):
Look it happens.
Speaker 5 (19:57):
She can't help.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
That's our mom. That is so our mom. We cannot
speak of things like that. Yeah, it's you know, we
all have been through this. You know, I told you
we were going through all the scrap books the other day,
and Mom would do things like, yeah, now that's so
so and so now that of course, you know, I
dated him before your dad, and I'm like, what, Yeah,
you didn't date anybody before our dad? Talking about yeah,
(20:21):
who is this and uh, and it was like some
basketball players.
Speaker 2 (20:26):
Yeah, you know, my parents got to talking about that.
I think I told y'all, yes, yeah, was like what, yeah,
I know that.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
You Yeah, he would want me.
Speaker 2 (20:37):
To sit beside. Yeah, when they get a certain age,
they'll just start telling.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
All kinds of things.
Speaker 9 (20:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Well he would flirt with me every time we came.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
He did.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
He really, I didn't know he was a friend of mine, right,
I wish I'd have known that.
Speaker 3 (20:52):
But but Henry, But no, like Greg, you remember this,
and I talked about her on the show yesterday. Our grandmother.
No one was more straight lace, as we said yesterday,
than Margaret Burgess. And but even when she got into
her eighties, I'm over, you know, at the you know,
the where she lived in the little community or a
(21:14):
little retirement community, and we're sitting down and we're looking
through old pictures and there's a picture of her and
my grandfather when they're when they're quite young. And my grandfather,
if you want to know what he looked like when
he was young, he looked just like.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
James Gardner. I mean, they just like just like you.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
They could have been like brothers. And people would even say,
you know, because that was his big character when they
were young, was Maverick, you know, before he did Rockford
Files and all that, and people come and say, hey, Maverick,
you know and all that. So he's sitting there and
all of a sudden, my grandmother says, you know your grandfather, Oh,
he was a handsome man. And I was like, all right, yeah,
(21:54):
I tell you, I just I mean, he was really
really attractive.
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Okay, okay, ma'am. All right. She was friends with his sister. Yeah,
she worked away.
Speaker 3 (22:03):
Yeah really, and I just you know why, he was
just so good looking. All right, do you have any cookies?
Maybe we should have cookies. Yeah, you know, maybe maybe
I'd like to see you big grandma right now, real quick.
Yeah please, I don't need I don't, I don't. I
don't like the road we're on right now.
Speaker 2 (22:25):
You know, he talking about uncomfortable situation. We were looking
through old photos and I saw a lady, you know,
in a bikini. But back then there were a lot
more conservatives on the beach. I went, well, who's that?
And Mom said that's me. Somebody.
Speaker 3 (22:48):
Somebody's looking at the picture now and they're saying this
was a problem. Rick, How did your mama find shoes.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
In the men's department. My feet were enormous.
Speaker 3 (22:58):
I would go in and like they that thing out,
they measure you foot and they start bringing people.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Come over here, this kid's nine. The probably should be big.
You know what they always said to me, he's got
a narrow foot.
Speaker 3 (23:09):
Yeah yeah, man, if someone took that some web toe, yeah,
but I took that as like this one's got a
duckle foot, the narrow duck foot, yeah like that. And
over here we've got somebody who's the offspring of the nehlem.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
You know, we got some see this one.
Speaker 7 (23:28):
Anybody got a twelve and a half in buster brown?
Somebody find I.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Mean a big one. Come on magging a buster of brown.
Back to the hair. Back to that.
Speaker 5 (23:41):
So Greg, with your narrow feet.
Speaker 6 (23:43):
That allowed your dad to say, hey, get your narrow
feet and your narrow right now.
Speaker 3 (23:48):
He did say that. That's what he referred to me
is yeah. So Greg thought that was Greg thought that
his name. I thought my name was the same last name,
but the first name was was large referred to Greg.
Greg had the same nas last name. It was called narrow,
and I had the same last name, but my first
name was large the older brothers. You know, when you're
(24:12):
a fat kid, it's really it's really uplifting for your
dad to call you, hey, La, won't you get up
and get outside and pick that up like I asked
you to do?
Speaker 2 (24:23):
Yeah, yes, sir, yes, sir. Get you a little there.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Yeah, we were two ends of the spectrum. Greg was
was ridiculed about being small. I was ridiculed about being large.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Somehow that was part of that was a lot.
Speaker 7 (24:43):
Hey, look there's the fat kid and the little kid.
Speaker 3 (24:47):
Thanks guys, they appreciate you.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Thank you.
Speaker 3 (24:49):
Which teams are we on?
Speaker 2 (24:52):
I went there fighting at second base? Again, if I
got first pick, I'm taking the fat one. Look at
the height, I'll think a little he looks fast.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
He has to be so so anyway, Also, updates, did
you did you ever go pick your dogs up?
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Speedy? Yeah? I'm sorry, whoever? Dogs?
Speaker 9 (25:12):
Whoever?
Speaker 2 (25:12):
My mom in a bikini?
Speaker 3 (25:13):
No please, no speed that We've been to enough on
this today. Uh yeah, speaking of that, wasn't the names
dog Cuddy?
Speaker 2 (25:23):
Yeah Cuddy? Yeah, I called Cutty the college dog. He
showed up or we are we showed up? And oh
yeah he has I don't know that he's moved for
a day because you know they'll sleep after they're worn out.
But we didn't get a kennel cough no, no, they
(25:47):
know they'll get to kill. I'll make sure he's got
every shot in the world, you know, and that Greg
Terry says, See, this is what you get with hanging
out with Greg, because I don't think they're very reputable place,
very nice place. I don't think they do anything you
pay for. You know, we're gonna give him this shot.
We're gonna gi him this shot, and we're gonna bathe
him here and we're gonna do this and takes the
(26:08):
one I get. How do you know how long he
I mean, how much do I get for that? I
was I was much playing are we talking? I was
on my if you don't want to.
Speaker 3 (26:16):
What if he wants to go to sleep and you're
gonna still charge me for playing speedy? This is under
the category that Greg said for years, this is how
they get you.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
Yeah, they get Yeah, that's that's fun.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Yeah, this is now for twenty more dollars. Well, actually
take him out and let him walk around a little bit.
Oh we're good, and not just leave him in that
great right, what is just ten dollars in here? We
petted him.
Speaker 10 (26:36):
We came in and said, hey, we spoke to him
and rubbed his hand.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Yeah, we did that, that little kid, talk to him.
That's what we do that for seven fifty.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
That's so true.
Speaker 2 (26:49):
Now in my mind, I had it as about four
hundred dollars, you know, because I want to go high
shooting for I was. I was going doomsday, like, there's
no way you could call that much. It's gonna be
cann be four beetles. So when I so, when we
did pay, it didn't hurt his back because it was
not that much. But I can't go low.
Speaker 3 (27:10):
No, you gotta go. Yeah, that's the worst on vehicle repairs,
I do all that.
Speaker 2 (27:17):
Yeah, I did the same thing.
Speaker 5 (27:18):
I dread that every end of every vacation.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
Get home, you're all settled, all right, Now, what's I've
paid for all that?
Speaker 5 (27:26):
Let's see what the dogs are gonna damage me?
Speaker 9 (27:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (27:29):
I dread it every time.
Speaker 2 (27:33):
And I don't know, by the way, the kennel cough,
that's on us. That's free. Yeah. And I don't know
if there's a rebellion or something going on with IR
two because they're jealous but they're starting to do things
like when we went on the trip, uh, Terry's mom
helped a little bit. And then as I said, Reese
came in from his uh his work and stayed there
(27:53):
over the weekend while we were gone. But he was
in and out too. But they've never like pulled normally,
if like R two, you can leave for hours and
they'll just chill inside. You come back and they're like,
oh wow, you whoop me up, you know, but they're
like pulling stuff out that they've never pulled the acting out.
(28:14):
Oh yeah, you know what.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
I looked at that because I had the same situation,
never done back when I had a dog until I
was free. Yeah, I think that. I think the dogs
are letting you know, they didn't like it.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
I think, so, so you're gonna take him and get pampered.
But what about us, Zoe? Yeah, they was in it. Yeah,
Chloe's get mad.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
She go in there and grab the toilet paper and
stringing across the hall and pull it out.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
That's when she left it till long later.
Speaker 8 (28:36):
Man.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
Yeah wow, well yeah, it's like things like they went
in the launch room and we got we got socks
and stuff, just laying all over the place and they
even got to they even pulled things out of our closet,
you know. And then and then, uh, don't let them
get up with a little uh dryer sheet or something.
You know, they'll they'll rip them to shreds. Yeah, they're
(28:58):
just looks like snow.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
I think this is their way of communicating how they
felt about.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
How this one day riding. And I know it was
Leo because he can't help it. Whenever you talk to
him and he's done something, he'll show his teeth like
he'll shake and start.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
It was wasn't it was?
Speaker 1 (29:23):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. He was told good
luck finding a job that would pay him to be
the class cloud Rick Burgess.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
There you go only in America. So we'll update you
America a couple of updates today. We'll get to coming
up next hour. So some questions from the text line.
And we always enjoyed this H eight D eight eight
six big vox are eight eight eight six two four four.
Speaker 2 (30:05):
Eight six nine. That's all the same number.
Speaker 3 (30:07):
So a couple of things we mentioned we were talking
about old family pictures. We put one on the show
today that it was our who found this greg Our sister.
My mom found it. Yeah, Mom, because our sister just
took the dance line that she that she is in
charge of at the high school where she teaches. By
(30:29):
the way, they place what top four in the nation,
top four in the nation there at Disney World. So anyway,
well done, sissy. So she's about two years old in
this picture in the stroller, and so this has spawned
some questions. Somebody said, I noticed that you guys. You know, Greg,
you're eight years older than our sister, and I'm ten
(30:51):
ten years older than sister. Between nine and ten. So
so anyway, they're saying, did your sister live a different life?
That dad had various things that he told you and
Greg nicknames things we thought were our names. Did your
sister see the same parenting that you two saw? And
the answer is no, no, no way, no, especially with dad.
(31:14):
And how about he didn't even apologize.
Speaker 2 (31:16):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
I mean he didn't he didn't apologize. You know, things
happened for her, like where did this car come from?
How does she get a car? Well, she's got to
have one, so did we. We didn't get a car.
We were we had to like share a family car
that they tried to pretend like it was.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
I was like, remember that, Look y'all got a car,
and I'm like, well, there's two of us. Yeah, And
then I'm like, wait a minute, pick up. I noticed
that the whole family is using this car, right, This
is not I don't think this is our.
Speaker 2 (31:48):
Car on the weekend. It's a family car. I think
y'all y'all just needed another car.
Speaker 3 (31:53):
And you remember the old yellow truck. Three on the column, oh,
three on the columns? Yeah, hey, good news, guys, you
can drive. What's our choices?
Speaker 2 (32:01):
How you like?
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Three on the column over like old custom thens Yeah,
what you're talking about? The chick magnet over there. Of course,
back then, it's not like now. Nobody had their own car.
If they did it a piece of jump. Our sister
got hers. Oh yeah, I'm telling that's when it all started.
But the group we ran with no nowadays. And I'm
as guilt as anybody. My kids wild come up and
go buy on my car. Well, we just drove what
(32:21):
our parents wasn't driving. Or if you, like I said,
if you had one, it wasn't very good. Well I
was gonna say that was my second point. It also
broke down the line. It also came from that era
that parents, I guess just thought kids would be okay
because they would send us out in cars that would
go dead at intersections, and they would just send us
off in these cars that that that they couldn't even
(32:42):
get a used car lot to buy.
Speaker 2 (32:44):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (32:45):
And of course they were probably smarter because then we
didn'ted it up.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Who cared?
Speaker 4 (32:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (32:49):
But yeah, so there was that Yeah, I don't know,
you know, our parents started producing money that Greg and
I told was never available.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
She lived a different life, Yeah, she completely different.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
Yeah. And uh so being the youngest, being the only girl. Yes, Oh,
I mean I got a daughter, I get it. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
But but the thing is, and I guess maybe you're
maybe you're the same way. Dad did not apologize that
he was inconsistent. No, he did not even pretend he was. Yeah, okay,
he did. You would say, well, wow, do you treat
her different you did us? That's right, And that was
the end of it. Yeah, I sure do.
Speaker 2 (33:24):
And then you go, do you like her better than us?
Pretty much? Remember the day we discussed.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Yeah, we were joking, you know, because it ain't like
mom and Dad had this fortune to leave everybody. No,
but you know how families when when somebody passes, everybody
gets to argue over who gets what. And uh, he
made the statement he said he's gonna make it a fish.
I don't know if he ever did in his will
that Angie gets first pick of anything, and then what's
left me and you have to fight over that is
craically fired. Who whips the other one and gets the
(33:50):
next child? Dad, that's what he's going to do. That
had an interesting way of everything, including a will.
Speaker 9 (33:56):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
And you know his his deal when and he did
go on to get Alzheimer's. You know we were supposed
to just go release him in the woods and leave him. Yeah,
and I told him I'm pretty sure that's not legal.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (34:07):
And then his deal of Dad, do you have your
will together? Well, it doesn't matter. Here's the bottom line.
She gets whatever she wants, y'all fight over for it's left. Yeah, okay, Dad,
I don't think that's legal. It's actually worded. Who whoops
the other ones out?
Speaker 2 (34:18):
Yes? He did, Yes, he did.
Speaker 5 (34:20):
Fair fair, Fair is fair.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
And be sure let's go and then and stick by
his other room. If you're gonna fight, just be yourus
outside yeah, in that he wants the boat. Y'all go
at it, right, remember this? And uh, and I talk
about this in in the book to Greg and I
were certain we grew up normal. We really did. We
didn't think any of this was strange. But as I
went out in life, I realized, Okay, wow, this guy
(34:44):
was pretty unique.
Speaker 2 (34:47):
Approach than most.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
So the The other thing I wanted to bring up was,
so you just showed us a picture in the break
of your mom in a bathing suit. It was an
appropriate bathing suit for the era you and one. Yeah,
so think about this. See we're not thinking about this, Okay,
say the same thing with tattoos and all that.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
Huh.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
So we see our parents and we're having some fun
with it. But in the times my mom was talking
about this, when women wore bathing suits, the bathing suits
were appropriate, right, they were modest.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Uh, they didn't buttflos.
Speaker 3 (35:19):
Thank you, Greg, thanks for jumping right to that. But
so what I'm saying is, though, what if, like your
mama is young now okay, and then you get older
and the Lord Terry's and we're all gone, and now
you're like us, you want to show pictures of your
mama in a bathing suit.
Speaker 2 (35:38):
Wow. Yeah, I mean it's different than us looking at ours.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
We see your mother's honey.
Speaker 2 (35:44):
Yeah, yeah, totally different.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
And your mama has a tattoo on her honey. You
know it's different and we can all see it. You know,
it's like you're, well, that's wow that your mom is
This is like almost nicked. I mean, can you imagine
showing pictures of the the future what was except of
women who are young now, the things they wear to
the beach and the different styles.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
Yeah, I mean it's is that your mom. Does your
mom have any pants on? What was she doing?
Speaker 3 (36:15):
Right? Since?
Speaker 9 (36:16):
So?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
Uh well, well did your mom nurse you? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (36:21):
So so so I want you need to remember that
because so one day your kids will be looking at
pictures of you when you were younger, at the beat,
at the be see if you can minimize the trauma.
Speaker 5 (36:39):
Uh yeah, did you send me that picture of your.
Speaker 3 (36:42):
Mom and b she's not a bikini.
Speaker 5 (36:45):
Well, it is the show, not for weird.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
It says my mom and dad. I just you know, Connor,
Hey dad, you got here? That's me? Yeah, but no, yeah,
this is this is what this is them. I don't
even know what year this is? Dad? Maybe, if you're listening.
Speaker 3 (37:01):
Probably I would bet since our parents are, aren't they
the same age?
Speaker 2 (37:04):
Yes, they got the same anniversary. Yeah they are.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
It's probably the fifties. It's probably you're sitting in the fifties.
You think, yeah, that was their young time. They those
pictures from the fifties are really cool.
Speaker 2 (37:16):
But yeah, oh they really are. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (37:18):
It's kind of a bikinnibody.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
I'm just huh.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
I'm saying, well, for there's mom, Mom and dad. They
are okay. It's appropriate though. I mean, you know, she's okay,
your mom showing what I thought.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
But no, you know, I think I think I think
back to these days and I talked to my dad
because he could see right then, and that's what is meant.
He goes off that, you know, and just I'm like,
so there he is, he can see. Fine, he's just around.
He don't be like that. No, you're saying, yeah, no,
(37:49):
I mean, I'll be like, Dad, you got to see
the sun set? Yeah, I wish I could see it.
And I'm thinking he just remember remembering by just to
those days.
Speaker 5 (37:57):
You rub it in, you rub in a sunset, my goodness.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Yeah, Well, Mom, will say that sometimes you know, well,
then you can describe it to that, and I do
what I try to say. Yeah, yeah, you know me
how I describe things I don't do it probably have
been a good job as I should. But but yeah,
there they are just full of life and my dad
still rocking.
Speaker 5 (38:19):
I bet the camera, I bet the camera that took
that picture was as big as a microwaved.
Speaker 2 (38:23):
You're right, you're right on top of the hour.
Speaker 1 (38:27):

one that was extremely popular in the Wednesday Bible study,
Unsaved Christian all right, so other things. People are continuing
(40:05):
to ask questions. I don't want to say it because
Greg is back. A lot of you watching the YouTube option.
I guess I walked in the.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Camera eating some of my breakfasts and they're like, what
you got in the bowl?
Speaker 4 (40:15):
Rick?
Speaker 2 (40:15):
Does it? Greg? Know what you're eating breakfast? What are
you eating? I've accepted it, and I'd rather not say
what I was eating. I don't think it's bad. I
don't think it's too bad. Well, yeah, because you're not
a little granola and I put some kind of yogurt
on it.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
There.
Speaker 8 (40:28):
It is.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
You don't win a contest.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
What Rick, you're trying to win another contest?
Speaker 2 (40:32):
To say?
Speaker 3 (40:32):
Is that to your latest you're trying to get a
new championship ring. Uh, so we thank you.
Speaker 8 (40:38):
For that.
Speaker 2 (40:38):
Uh So it was.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
It was some granola and some blueberries and some yogurt.
That was good, great yogurt, Troy. It was all right, buddy,
thank you little keen wall for lunch. Thanks, thanks, thank you.
Uh So?
Speaker 2 (40:55):
Uh yeah, he says oatmeal is acceptable. Yeah, because I
told him yesterday I brought Okay, what's the difference, big,
what's oat meal? Oatmeal has been around forever? Okay, well
so has granola not really not in the world. Okay,
the form of it? You know, what do you think?
Speaker 3 (41:15):
What do you think some of those cereals were they
weren't What are you talking about? Well, I'd rather not
say sugar, I.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
Was gonna say, but I'm.
Speaker 3 (41:24):
Talking about those health the ones they acted like were healthy.
You don't think some of those were kind of granola based.
Now I don't know what grape nuts was, and I'd
rather not. I can work my way through something going.
This ain't that good, but I can't. I tried. I
can't eat grape now. But what was that serra I put,
I put the spinning matter and starts spitting it. Yeah,
what was that cereal that you tried to get us
(41:45):
all sold on?
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Back?
Speaker 3 (41:46):
Back?
Speaker 2 (41:46):
Oat brand. I still eat.
Speaker 3 (41:49):
It if you ate Crackling Oat brand, which looks like
dog food, just like dog food, but it is I
eat it now. I have a box in my pantry.
Tell me what's the difference what I just ate in
crackling Oat brand. It's just different, Okay, I think it's
the yogurt. Other questions people asking after looking at family
photos today. This is somebody who really knows. I need
(42:11):
to know who ended up with your dad's lever Action
threeh eight. That the classic rifle that dad had. That
must be somebody that coached with dad or that he
asked and Greg didn't end up with it.
Speaker 2 (42:25):
On a coin toss, we flipped a coin.
Speaker 3 (42:27):
We agreed to flip a coin, but with a twelve
gauge Belgium god trigger.
Speaker 2 (42:32):
He didn't come out empty end when he was like
sixteen years old.
Speaker 9 (42:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
I showed that off to Wingo and he was very embrasive.
Ooh that's Belgium. I sug yes it is.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
Well, you don't have something that nice? Are you afraid
to use it? I'm starting to be.
Speaker 3 (42:46):
I've been using it, but I'm like, what if I
mess it up or lose the cliup or something because
there's no I mean this thing, this kind the three
or eight, what probably the sixties? Oh yeah, aren't no doubt.
Someone someone also asking when we were children, to Greg
ever win a fight against you? Yeah, are just in gym?
No against you won many against other people. I resolved, well,
(43:07):
I had to fight up my white class against you.
You got me prepared if I could ever find somebody
close to my agent, I mean my size.
Speaker 11 (43:13):
I was.
Speaker 2 (43:13):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
I saw Greg beat up a kid on the way
to the school bus one day. I just laugh at
me because I well, yeah, I fell down and he
laughed at me. I think I think it was Freddy
Doherty grig No.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
Do you think he's coming to get you? While I mean,
I don't remember first and last day. I think he
made that. I might I might have been. I might
have been. So you fell down, got embarrassed, and I was, no,
you gotta you gotta be, you gotta be attacking. You
got to be where I was fitting. I'll give you
the play by play.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
You gotta be where I was. I was already on
the bus, okay, okay, So I'm sitting on the.
Speaker 2 (43:48):
Bus and I said, well, here comes Greg. Looks like
he's struggling to get here. He's running.
Speaker 3 (43:52):
So Greg was running. He had just about to leave it.
I would say, you did have some books?
Speaker 2 (43:56):
What was that for?
Speaker 3 (43:57):
Just didn't do homework? I think I accidentally did and
go my locker or something. So he's running and all
of a sudden he loses his footing when he goes
down hard and he falls. So I'm thinking, I'm enjoying this.
This is great. Little do I know a bonus was coming? Okay,
I think, well this is enough. I watched my little
brother fall down trying to get to the bus. My
days already great. And all of a sudden there was
(44:17):
a kid that started pointing out like a Greg didn't
even hesitate. Greg came off the ground so fast like
he's doing a tiny burpie, and he and hook. He
jumped off the ground and punched that get right in
the face. Look here's what you love me. And the
kid goes and he grabs his face and goes down.
(44:38):
Greg gets his books and just keeps going. I've never
seen somebody get punched and left so quick. You know,
now that I'm think about, that's ridiculous. You know, well,
you shouldn't have left at you I know, but I
bet he didn't laugh at people.
Speaker 2 (44:49):
I bet he didn't laugh at people fell drop their
books anymore. We'll see you.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
No, but your neighborhood that we grew up in, we
had a lot of boys, and I was like one
of the youngest and smallest, so I had to fight
up up and up in the weight class. And so
it prepared you for if you actually had a fight
with somebody size, you had a pretty good you know.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 3 (45:08):
I can't remember. Our fights were always they never ried. Yeah,
they never had like an official ending. Here's the winner.
It was almost like and Greg had a great defense mechanism.
He would hit me with something because he'd always bring
an equalize and make up sucker punch our sucker punched me.
And then he would go and put his hands over
(45:29):
his head like Muhammad Ali's roping up and he would
get in the ball and I'd be punching the little
human bar. Yeah, and so he was protecting any marks
on his face.
Speaker 4 (45:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
If I could send Freddy Doherty rick, don't say sorry,
fred Well, he never even got to he couldn't. He
could not even get up it.
Speaker 2 (45:48):
Did the bus driver see it? No, I don't think
I was about to say. Even the bus drivers didn't
turn you in back. If you got y'all come on now,
you be all intotention and all home for two days
would be awful.
Speaker 3 (46:04):
Greg would have got from the very mean and scary
woman that was driving was just get on the bus.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
We gotta go.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
That's it, Yeah, let's go.
Speaker 2 (46:11):
Yes, but uh, I mean, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Do you remember the bus driver that beat on the
roof with a.
Speaker 2 (46:18):
Stick said I can't hear myself, thinking yeah, I can't.
What is she saying?
Speaker 7 (46:22):
I can't even hear myself, thinking.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
Yeah, yeah, and she's in the top of the bus,
was just beat where she would beat on it. It's
a different time, like somebody's grandmother. Yeah, it was mean,
but she's around my dog.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Yeah, yeah, I was on.
Speaker 3 (46:40):
The bus and there was no hey, nothing there. Nowadays
you run over somebody's dog. Nowadays, you run over somebody's dog.
They would cancel school. All the kids would be taking
back home and where a counselor was sitting down with
their parents.
Speaker 2 (46:52):
Waiting for sure and story.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
Yeah, and then you know what happened in those days,
there was just a moment where the bus went over
a hump and then the bush just went on.
Speaker 2 (47:03):
Your reaction and his reaction totally opposite. Oh yeah, yeah
it was.
Speaker 3 (47:08):
But no, so I can't really say that if I sit.
Speaker 2 (47:11):
There in the bus take it. Yeah, yeah, to go
to school. Run way. Was it a quiet ride? Oh
it's terrible.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
We all looked back at our lifeless dog lad in
the road just went on the school.
Speaker 2 (47:21):
Yeah. Time we got home, Dad took care of it.
You come come back.
Speaker 3 (47:25):
Somebody scooped it, put in the trash bag and buried
it somewhere in the woods. Yeah, that was just a
different time.
Speaker 2 (47:30):
It was.
Speaker 3 (47:31):
It was just a different time. But so yeah, I
mean alone, Yeah, Greg was Greg was a handful. I
mean yeah, Greg was mean, and Greg was a handful.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
He was.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
He might have been smaller, but he was a flurry
of fists.
Speaker 1 (47:43):
Uh he was.
Speaker 2 (47:44):
He was.
Speaker 3 (47:44):
He would do anything. He had no fear, and he
would he would equalize with a weapon.
Speaker 2 (47:50):
I mean it was.
Speaker 3 (47:51):
It was like taking on the little Tasmanian double. You
see the difference in our size.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
Yeah something and back then and back then, everybody rode
the bus. You need get taken to school. No, everybody,
if you asked.
Speaker 3 (48:04):
A parent in our era, you know, if their kid
rode the bus, they would look at you like, well, yeah, yeah,
and have you ever thought about taking them to school?
Why would I take them to school? A bus comes back.
Speaker 2 (48:13):
I remember the cold morning, it's so cold, and you're
your money. But I'll meet at one drive. Oh yeah,
of course, grave We'll fight somebody before we got on
the bus.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
This is the Rick Burger's Show. We talked to the
public every day and trust us, you should be gravely
concerned the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (48:43):
Yeah, it's uh, there's some there's some nut jobs out there,
all right, So we are rolling through another one. We're
glad you're here. Big vox seats are sold out today
and sold out. Really when I say sold out, they
don't cost anything. They are are reserved all the way
through March. We'll release April later in March. But looking
(49:06):
forward to our first guest ever with the Rick Burgess
Show coming up a little bit later on in the program.
Didn want to point you to Field of Greens. Now,
I know yesterday we had somebody say, hey, I went
to rickburgesshow dot com and I looked under sponsors and
I didn't see field of Greens. Well, we're working to
be sure it says that, but you really do see it.
(49:28):
It's brick house nutrition, brick house nutrition. They have more
than one product, so it is there, so it's under
brick house nutrition. But we agree with you that since
the product that we are pushing on this show is
Field of Greens, it probably should say Field of Greens
there more prominently under the sponsors button.
Speaker 2 (49:47):
But it is brick house nutrition. But let me tell
you about this.
Speaker 3 (49:50):
Are you just go directly to fieldogreens dot com and
use the promo code big vox to get twenty percent off.
Field of Greens is a game chain, I mean a
game changer. This is the nutrition that your body was designed,
we believe, created by the one and only living God.
However you think we got here, it's obvious if you
(50:13):
study the human body. There's nutrition that the human body
craves in order to be efficient and run the way
it's supposed to run. Including immune system, including your heart,
your liver, your lungs. They all need certain fruits and vegetables,
which you know, when we get back to you know,
(50:34):
the new Heaven and the New Earth, all that will
be provided for us all the time. But now in
this fallen state, you got to find these in a
fallen world. So these scientists at Brickhasse Nutrition, they went
out and said, here's the ones that the body craves
that will work most effectively, and they're all in Field
of Greens and that way you know you're getting the
(50:55):
proper nutrition. So confident that this will work, and it
has been a game changer for all of us who
are using it here on the show. If your doctor
doesn't notice the impact on your health from Field of Greens,
you get a refund. There you go Fieldofgreens dot com
save twenty percent using the code big vox and it
(51:15):
is at Rick Burgess show dot com under the sponsors
look for Brick Cass Nutrition if you don't see Field
of Greens there. So there you go. All right, So
let's let's talk a little bit about the first one
hundred days of the Trump administration two point zero.
Speaker 2 (51:34):
And so yeah, so I'm i saying, hey, hey, Trump.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
So when we look at how Trump is doing, one
of the things that is a big topic right now,
and we got a couple of things we'll talk about.
One of them is tariffs. Let's do that first. So
we saw again yesterday why tariffs were you if you
use them, and a lot of times, if you use
them the right way, as Trump told us, you never
(52:02):
even have to use them, just the fear of what
it will do to other countries. And all Trump is
trying to do is say, we were talking with somebody
the other day. Whatever happened to the pursuit of the
win win. Hey, let's get into trade agreements that are fair.
Let's help America's businesses, Let's help the entrepreneurs, lit bring
(52:25):
some manufacturing back here. Let's get on a level playing field.
And if we're not going to do that, then we're
going to use tariffs to try to accomplish this. And
yesterday we had two countries that back down pretty quick,
Canada and Mexico. Here's jd Vance talking about how these
tariffs are working now.
Speaker 11 (52:46):
Actually I was in the air. I talked to the
President very briefly about this. He spoke with the President
of Mexico this morning, and the President of Mexico committed
to putting ten thousand additional Mexican troops on that southern border,
our southern border, of course, the Mexican's northern border, to
to take law enforcement more seriously to go after those
Mexican drug cartels a little bit more aggressively. So for
(53:09):
literally three days I heard the far left in this
country say that these tariffs would make americans lives worse off.
And what actually happened is the Mexican government was so
afraid of the tariffs that they actually are taking their
border enforcement and their anti cartel activity more seriously. That
is not a pathway to making Americans worse off. That's
(53:30):
a pathway to making Americans better off.
Speaker 6 (53:32):
Now, amen, so folded in kind as well, yeah, did
and then leading to a delay on the Canadian tariffs
for from thirty days for now.
Speaker 2 (53:43):
Yeah, that what Canada said, They'll implement one point three
billion border, million dollar border plan, yes sir, and like
a point a fitanels are yeah, which really, this is
what that's about. It's the drug war and the cartail
and that business and that what they're running. It's really
to defeat that, right.
Speaker 5 (54:03):
The cartel.
Speaker 6 (54:04):
The cartels are only getting stronger, and for us to
take them on as soon as possible is huge, absolutely huge.
Speaker 5 (54:11):
For the security and future of our country, honestly.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
So next, here's the new Press secretary once again and
is talking about Americans tax payer dollars are going to
be used differently now under the Trump administration. She's explaining
how this is something that bringing transparency into the government.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
So here we go in life coverage.
Speaker 12 (54:36):
Through USAID over the past several years. These are some
of the insane priorities that that organization has been spending
money on. One point five million dollars to advance DEI
in Serbia's workplaces, seventy thousand for a production of a
DEI musical in Ireland, forty seven thousand for a transgender
opera in Colombia, thirty two thousand for a transgender comic
(54:59):
book in Peru. I don't know about you, but as
an American taxpayer, I don't want my dollars going towards
this crap. And I know the American people don't either.
And that's exactly what Elon Musk has been tasked by
President Trump to do to get the fraud, waste and
abuse out of our federal government.
Speaker 8 (55:14):
Trump.
Speaker 2 (55:15):
Yeah, so there's a from is it?
Speaker 5 (55:18):
Those should those Department of Government efficiency?
Speaker 6 (55:22):
And yeah, she was talking about the us A, I
D the us AID last week. I was talking about
these NGOs, these non governmental organizations across the planet, but
they're funded by taxpayer money. So they're non governmental, government
backed organizations, and they're pushed pushing these leftist ideologies. Mike
Ben's a former Intel guy, gets really into the weeds
(55:43):
if you want to, if you want to learn about
this and see how these organizations are even fullmenting color
revolutions across the globe.
Speaker 5 (55:50):
It's crazy. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (55:53):
Yeah, and so and look, this is not new, do
you remember. I remember comedians would come out and talk
about how our tax dollars being wasted and what they're
being spent on, and so we were not uninformed. This
goes on. But I think we're all like, well, you
keep people keep revealing these things, but nobody's doing anything
about it.
Speaker 2 (56:12):
We all getting outrageous.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
I can't believe my tax dollars went to the mating
habits of the monarch butterfly. And you're like, well, but
but why don't we stop it? We are ever going
to do anything about it? And and so now the
monarch I remember that one, and and I think they
came to the conclusion that you know, it required a
(56:35):
male butterfly and a female but something stupid.
Speaker 2 (56:38):
There's only two genders and Butterfly that was it.
Speaker 3 (56:40):
Yeah, that was the one. Yeah, and and but again
we've all said that's outrageous. But but they nothing's ever
been done.
Speaker 2 (56:47):
What is the transgender opera? What is that? I do
not know.
Speaker 5 (56:50):
I thought that was just all operas.
Speaker 13 (56:53):
All right, So we want to come back and let
Rubyo explain. Yeah, Rubio really explain it.
Speaker 3 (57:07):
But but this time we're not just pointing out the problem.
We're actually trying to solve the problem. What what a concept?
Speaker 14 (57:15):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (57:16):
Bottom of the hour.
Speaker 1 (57:17):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 15 (57:32):
So then we thought the world would say, couldn't care less?
Speaker 1 (57:36):
Rick Burchase.
Speaker 3 (57:39):
By the way, you're fine. You're streaming is fine, your
station is fine, your mind is fine. That CD skips,
you're all right. I keep forgetting every time I play
that cut that is damaged. It's okay, that is not
in your head.
Speaker 2 (57:53):
Here give me that CD. I'm a market on the back.
What cut is it? Let me see the case, Let
me see the case. So anyway, so there you go.
Speaker 3 (58:05):
So we were talking about we're doing a little bit
of a Trump update right now. So with the tariffs
working again with Canada and Mexico, really quick. Even after
they did a little big talking, they finally realize we
got to crumble to this now. As we all pointed out,
(58:26):
Greg said the same thing in the break. We are
all of our lives have heard government waste of our
tax dollars being lampooned and being made fun of, but
nobody's ever done anything about it. So the Trump administration
two point zero has put together an agency that this
is their whole job, and it's headed up by Elon Musk?
Speaker 6 (58:46):
Is it DOGE Department of Government Efficiency? And there are
rumors that it's just like and this is not a joke,
it's six like slightly autistic guys, like young young engineers
that are just whizs that Elon Musk has weaponized.
Speaker 4 (59:03):
So to speak.
Speaker 5 (59:04):
And it's it's it's pretty hilarious.
Speaker 3 (59:07):
Well, I don't want to hear anybody on the left
talk about weaponizing anything in the government, because they do
nothing but weaponize the agencies in the government. Okay, So
just you know, so back nown just a little bit, frankly, now,
what is it?
Speaker 2 (59:20):
What is it not?
Speaker 3 (59:20):
Frankly? What is the Margaret thing? We're supposed to say?
Speaker 2 (59:23):
I don't I don't care, I don't really care, Margaret, right,
that is frankly, now you don't know that's that's that's
with the wind again. I don't really care. Frankly frankly
is not in it, frankly.
Speaker 5 (59:35):
Frankly, Frankly, Margaret, I don't give a care.
Speaker 2 (59:39):
Tonation, Margaret, I have no concern.
Speaker 3 (59:41):
I care.
Speaker 2 (59:42):
I don't.
Speaker 3 (59:42):
All right, So here is Mark Rubio explaining Marco this
or you know, because yesterday it was funny Sherry and
I watched a little bit of the news to just
get caught up, and she said, Google, what is U
S A I D. I said, yeah, what is this?
US aid what I don't I don't understand this either.
I didn't know if Bob Geldolf was involved, you know.
(01:00:02):
And don't focus on his ears here either.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
Can you just listen to what he's says.
Speaker 3 (01:00:07):
Anyway, Mark Rubio can talk to us about US A
I D or usaid if will you please not comment
on his ear?
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Please try just listen to what he says, all right?
Speaker 3 (01:00:22):
About how long they are? You shouldn't have brought attention
to Just close your eye.
Speaker 2 (01:00:25):
Here we go.
Speaker 16 (01:00:26):
You're now the head of US A I D, the
head of DOJE Elon Musk called USA i D a
criminal organization and added that it is time for it
to die.
Speaker 2 (01:00:36):
Do you agree with.
Speaker 17 (01:00:37):
That they have basically evolved into an agency that believes
that they're not even a US government agency, that they
are out there a global charity, that they take the
taxpayer money and they spend it as a global charity,
irrespective of whether it is in the national interest or
not in the national interests. One of the most common
complaints you will get if you go to embassies around
the world from State Department officials and ambassadors and the
like is USA i D is not only not cooperative,
(01:01:00):
they undermine the work that we're doing in that country.
They are supporting programs that upset the host government for
whom we're trying to work with on a broader scale
and so forth. So they're completely unresponsible. They just don't
consider that they work for the US. They just think
they're a global entity and that their master is the
globe and not the United States. And that's not what
the statute says, and that's not sustainable.
Speaker 2 (01:01:20):
Can it be reformed or does it need to die?
Speaker 17 (01:01:22):
Well, that was always the goal was to reform it,
But now we have rank and subordination. Now we have
basically an active effort. Their basic attitude is we don't
work for anyone. We work for ourselves. No agency of
government can tell us what to do. So the President
made me the acting administrator. I've delegated that power to
someone who's there full time, and we're going to go
through the same process at USAID as we're going through
(01:01:44):
now at the State Department. I think there are some
this is not about getting rid of foreign aight. There
are things that we do through USAID that we should
continue to do that makes sense, and we'll have to
decide is that better through the State Department or is
that better through something reformed USAID. The process we're working through.
There are things that are happening at us A I
D that we should not be involved in funding that
(01:02:05):
or that we have a lot of questions about. But
they're completely incooperative. So we had no choice but to
take dramatic steps to bring this thing under control.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
Hmm. You know they tried to whisper their agenda, but
he heard it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:18):
There is I'm going there it is. Did you listen
to anything? He said? He's like, ahh, I got it.
Speaker 3 (01:02:25):
I heard you you were trying to whisper right, and
I heard it right. That's I never noticed those until.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
You, Greg, You've come in. I don't think yes about
the length. You know, you compared him to Mitch album.
There's a satellite comment. There's so many I can't keep up.
Speaker 5 (01:02:48):
John Kennedy, Oh here comes have no t Senator.
Speaker 2 (01:02:51):
Janny got the big ears and now got no t.
Speaker 5 (01:02:54):
Yeah, commented on it to Greg. If you want to
hear it, I would love to.
Speaker 3 (01:02:58):
All right, my till my friends who are upset, I
would say, with respect, you know, call somebody who cares.
Speaker 5 (01:03:06):
They better get used to this.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
It's USA, I d today. It's gonna be Department of
Education of Mark. There we go. It's possible.
Speaker 6 (01:03:17):
These organizations are funded by taxpayer dollars.
Speaker 5 (01:03:20):
But they're activists. They're left wing activists.
Speaker 6 (01:03:25):
There's there's sorows aligned. They are globalist aligned. It's not
good for the country, it's not good for people. It's
good for a leftist, Marxist, communist, globalist agenda.
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
And if you if you see the if you see media,
if you see the legacy, media act in a negative
way and try to paint it like Trump's doing something evil.
Or the left, Hollywood likes, or just you know, it
has to be corrected because of the way they reacting.
Speaker 5 (01:03:58):
Every crooked politician is trying about us A. I D
going away.
Speaker 3 (01:04:02):
I wonder why here's Omar. Whatever Omar is for, I'm
always right on board. So here here is he. You
say your name, i il Han Omar. She's upset about
us AID being dismantled, and.
Speaker 5 (01:04:20):
She's going to claim that it's okay.
Speaker 18 (01:04:22):
It is really, really a sad day in America. We
are witnessing a constitutional crisis. We talked about Trump wanting
to be a dictator on day one, and here we
are is what the beginning of dictatorship looks like. When
(01:04:43):
you got the constitution and you install yourself as the
sole power. That is how dictators are made.
Speaker 5 (01:04:53):
He's dismantling a the deep state. I bring bureaucracy.
Speaker 6 (01:04:58):
When they say he's a threat to democracy, it's because
he's actually a threat to bureaucracy.
Speaker 2 (01:05:09):
That's not what he's doing.
Speaker 5 (01:05:10):
It's yeah, pressure down, Chris.
Speaker 2 (01:05:15):
We did know about Kennedy and the Omelet comparison.
Speaker 3 (01:05:18):
That was very funny. But what you're what you're saying.
Everyone needs to listen because the left plays this game
with you. They're big government people. Only the emotional left
could try to convince anyone to Adler's point that shrinking
the size of the central government and taking away some
of its power that it never had inside the constitution
(01:05:42):
is somehow becoming a dictator. When you're dismantling a central
government that has become a dictator, that doesn't make you
a dictator. It actually sounds the opposite. But if but
if you, you know, if you don't understand all that,
and you somebody says something real emotionally and actually they're
about a cry and screams. You know, it's once again
(01:06:02):
the sky is falling, which they're the masters of them.
And you're, oh gosh, this sounds bad. Yeah, look, do
a little homework. It's a giant agency that has no accountability,
and we're shrinking it and bringing accountability.
Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
That is not being a dictator. That's actually the opposite.
And what the left hadn't figured out yet. And Trump's
first administration, hey, you know, you could, you could spew
all this hate and no, he's this and that, and
and America kind of fell for it. And then the
Biden came along, and now Trump's back and it was like, no,
that's played out. We're kind of done with it. I
think America is smarter on picking up all of their
(01:06:36):
propaganda about him being evil and a dictator and he's
doing this and he's doing that. They were like, no,
let's just fix it. Let's let's fix it, and we're
going to have to take all this because this is
what this is their game.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
Wing.
Speaker 2 (01:06:49):
You gotta have their message.
Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
If you got to have the stomach for all this, remember,
and we're well versed on this, you got to ignore
the monioacal and the unreasonable. They're gonna scream, their gonna holler,
they're gonna make accusations, they're gonna live and you just
have to, you know, put in your buy rackcon earbuds,
put it on the isolation mode, and stay the course.
Speaker 2 (01:07:12):
Yep, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 15 (01:07:29):
Still denying any envolvement in the future Flights of nineteen
seventy nine.

(01:08:47):
what this text option has done is it has created
something that really radio. And I know that we're on
all kinds of platforms now and that world is changing,
but we are a radio show and that's who we
all are at heart, except for Greg, who had no
interest in radio, and we forced him into it. But
the rest the rest of us, you know, have a
(01:09:09):
history in radio. Yeah we have and we and we
still have, you know, all these great stations that carry
the show. But one thing that was different about doing
radio versus say stand up comedy, and they're two completely
different skill sets, is you don't get instant feedback, or
there was a time you didn't. So we didn't have
instant feedback. I mean, you can talk about phone calls,
(01:09:29):
but you still got to take calls and and then
people still are commenting. Then you get but now this
text option and all the new technology in social media
and that you're starting now in our world.
Speaker 2 (01:09:41):
To get.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Instant feedback, right, and and so you can see things instantly.
You know, when something happens on the show, I will
say to the one texture here that is texting over
and over again, how Lisa is doing. Thank you for that.
But that was covered last hour. Could you tell them again?
So those that didn't hear last hour will get an
(01:10:03):
update on Lisa.
Speaker 2 (01:10:05):
Thank you for concern. By the way, that's very nice,
very nice people praying and that is awesome. Lisa.
Speaker 3 (01:10:10):
Starting last year, she had some issues with her kidneys,
with the kidney infection and different infections, and that went
to her colon and anyway, all this is tied together.
And when we went to the doctor yesterday, she had
you know, kind of a few episodes this weekend that
have tied back to that. We weren't sure, but they
are and we got a good plan and from that
point forward. So just keep praying. But she's doing good.
(01:10:32):
And like she said, she wants to thrive in twenty five.
Thriving twenty five last year, you know, she went through
a lot, but they do. I think we're on the
right path now after going to the doctor yesterday, I
think they have a really good plan. And y'all keep praying.
We appreciate it. But she's doing you know, she's doing good.
Speaker 2 (01:10:49):
Good.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
And the prayer, like we said, was for a proper
diagnosis and solutions, and I think both of those things
happened yesterday, so that prayer answered. So now other instant feedback,
you know, you you you talk about this and I'll
walk you down this road. Instant feedback. Rick shirt is
too tight today, so I wanted to talk to you
about my shirt today. You know, I have an ongoing
(01:11:12):
thing that I'm I'm struggling with and it's an uphill climb.
Even someone even left me a voice message about a
picture they have with me at a at an event somewhere.
I have a hard time with the fact that I
have prominent nipples. This is uh, this has been that
I don't know why, I don't know, you've been labeled. Yeah,
(01:11:34):
that's uh, you know. And and they're not man boobs.
They're just prominent, prominent nipples. And and they they protrude,
uh in pictures when I am in a T shirt
or what is it, I call them golf shirts like
what I happened today and and I don't and I
don't know what to do about it. And today you're
seeing a clash of solution. So what Sherry suggested is
(01:11:56):
that I start wearing T shirts. And I don't like
T shirts and that because now I can't wear the
drive fit though, right, that's nibble city.
Speaker 2 (01:12:03):
I know, I just dow that shirt away.
Speaker 3 (01:12:05):
I got to go with the color comfort colors, right,
thank you, Greg. So So anyway, so what I have
today is the problem with the T shirt is I
have what we called because I do, I don't know
how we ever, allowed the term wife beater to become
something that we talk to them. I mean, so we
can't say retarded anymore. We can say wife beater. Yes,
(01:12:26):
I mean so I won't say that either one of those.
But we called we called we called it old man
T shirt. It's a yes, our grandfather I can remember
our grandfather. Yeah, yeah, a white Yeah, he loved a
good it's it's a white tank top undershirt. Yeah, because too,
just a regular T shirt. I mean, now you've got
two shirts, you do, and so you're gonna start wearing
(01:12:51):
now I have one on that, So what's so what's happening.
So what's happened is now what you're seeing on TV
is that shirt is grabbing the shirt that I have on.
See if this shirt was just on. Here's what we
got to decide. Do we want my shirt to look
too tight or do you want prominent nipples? Hyeah? Those
(01:13:12):
are the two choices. Yeah, I've just I've just got
to get thicker shirts or something.
Speaker 2 (01:13:19):
I deal with.
Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
People send me pictures all the time, and I'm like,
good night, Rick, I shouldn't and I don't know what.
It has nothing to do with the temperature. They're just prominent.
Speaker 2 (01:13:28):
Yeah. I asked my wife the other night in the kitchen,
I said, can you see my nipples? Because yeah, because
I was wearing a shirt that was kind of thin
like you're talking about, especially if you have hair on
your chance, you can see your hair. Rick, what about
big round band aids, nippies?
Speaker 5 (01:13:44):
They're called nippy they are Rick, un You're like an athlete.
Speaker 2 (01:13:50):
So I've never ran far enoughy day I have to
do that, wear a nippy and and have some yogurt.
I've never ran. Did you just asked to see my undershirt?
I did. I wanted to see it. Guys, that'd be cool,
be cool, cool. You don't have to take it off.
You can just show us. But I think pull it
down a little bit. Oh my gosh, he's taking his okay, goodness,
(01:14:13):
And there you're talking about nips.
Speaker 5 (01:14:16):
The well.
Speaker 2 (01:14:17):
One of the problems you got is here, quick work
of work.
Speaker 7 (01:14:21):
One of the problems you got is it's a really
thin Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:14:24):
Well he's not.
Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
Well, they don't wear that under something.
Speaker 2 (01:14:30):
Now, that ain't what he's trying to hide his nipples with.
Speaker 3 (01:14:32):
Yeah, I think that's setting up the shirt on you
think that is?
Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
But if you guys I don't want to get I'm
walking on the two shirts, and I think that'll work.
Just now, you don't, just right, you don't like anything
hugging on you. Now, I can't stand there and then
go with the nipples. Try those nipple. I can't live.
Speaker 3 (01:14:56):
I can't live in a world where all of a sudden,
I'm at the hotel and said, oh man, i forgot
my nipple covers. God, hey baby, putting my shave and
kept my nipple covers.
Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
I can't do that. No, I think that works. What
you got right. People can't believe you. Did you think
you would take.
Speaker 3 (01:15:14):
Your shirt off today? I didn't take my shirt off.
I had a tint shirt. Yeah right, you took your
top blader.
Speaker 1 (01:15:20):
I didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:15:20):
It's your top lader. How does the tank I mean,
is it comfortable? Yeah, that's a that's a comfort, But
it's really really thin. You need a thicker wing. So
it hiding nipples now.
Speaker 3 (01:15:30):
But now I'm gonna be yeah there, now you don't
think that. Yeah, I mean these don't look. But what
I'm saying is now people are sending the shirts too
tight because this undershirts grabbing put some cherry off, right,
and so I don't know clean right, Yeah, Static guard.
Speaker 6 (01:15:46):
Were like those fishing shirts with like the pockets on them,
so and you get doubled up the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
I wear those.
Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
I wear those, and then I become that guy that
basically wears the same shirt every day, just a different color,
and then I have to hear about that. Yeah, it's
everybody's very It's like it's like everybody on the text option,
they're all Greg.
Speaker 4 (01:16:05):
You know.
Speaker 3 (01:16:05):
It's like it's like anybody who wants to use the
text option or just Greg.
Speaker 2 (01:16:09):
Everybody's Greg.
Speaker 3 (01:16:10):
But you know, every person I've seen in the ads
for the nipple protectors are running right. It's not it's
not what I'm but you want to hide them though,
I wish, I wish Kramer and Georgia's d if Kramer
could have developed the man's ear. Well they have a.
Speaker 5 (01:16:27):
Chest shield Likenska.
Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
That's got what he has now, all right, So but
if I untouck want that also hang out there the same.
Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
Length you got Tucos, let it out or I don't
know anyway.
Speaker 3 (01:16:45):
So that's why the shirt lets grab you today. Yeah,
when we were wearing the winter stuff, it's gotten hot
where we are, right, the winter stuff was didn't have
to worry about it, and I'm trying to go back
to the spring stuff and I don't know.
Speaker 2 (01:16:57):
This is a tough d This is Golf Church will
do this to you. Whatever come out on top of
the hour.
Speaker 1 (01:17:03):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 9 (01:17:11):
Eight bucks that are taking about presents the Rick Burchers
Show with Sweed, Greg Burgess, Eddie van Adler and Rick Bouche.
Speaker 2 (01:17:26):
Thank you for being with us. A brand new hour underway.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Much has been covered if you miss it, kicks the
archives today, but there's still much more to do. Dean
and Sarah will be our guests coming up next hour
and we'll unpack what's going on with him and points
you to him being part of the lineup at the
(01:17:53):
next Man Church conference. Speaking of conferences, this weekend we
team up with the folks at Monroe l. Louise for
the Dry Bones Men's Conference.
Speaker 2 (01:18:02):
JD.
Speaker 3 (01:18:03):
Greer, Fred Luder, Phil Waldrop, Charles Billingsley doing worship. Josh
Reeves will be there others. If you want to find
find out all about that, just go to the Manchurch
dot com. We have their link set up. The still
tickets available and it was good to see those guys
a lot of those came to the Birmingham Manchurch Conference
and they're getting ready to host THEIRS in Monroe, Louisiana,
(01:18:24):
and I'm honored to be part of that with this
great lineup coming up this weekend. So some other things
that we have talked about, and I even have that
that book, you know, the idioms, you know idioms, and Greg,
I know you have a load of them, these various
idioms and what are their origin? And yeah, oh yeah, sure,
(01:18:45):
I know you do. And of course some of yours
we can't use. But and you remember, we had a
we had a whole deal where we were like, all right,
if one comes up on the show, we're gonna find
the origin for it. And because we say these things
and we're like, where where do this come from?
Speaker 2 (01:19:01):
You know?
Speaker 3 (01:19:01):
And then you find out, you know that sometimes behind
them it wasn't even what you thought. Well, you know
what we say to hey, I'll see you Lord Willing
in the creek don't rise. Yeah, well we thought I
remember thinking that was a literal body of water, like
you know, it would flood, so I wouldn't be able
to make the journey because and come to find out,
(01:19:21):
and I was talking about the Creek Indians. H it was.
It was a discussion about when the still at war
with a lot of the tribes. And I forget who
the person was, but the bottom line was, you know,
if I don't have to fight the Creek Indians, I'll
see you too, you know, Lord Willing and the Creek
don't rise. But anyway, so Adder has found a video
with audio that is nothing but a quick what like
(01:19:44):
rapid fire. Here's the idiom and here's where it came from. Okay,
all kay, here we go.
Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
Well what do you say? Can you just watch it? Yeah? Greg?
It first, Greg, go ahead, Now I'm good. Are you
already trying to rain on the wrecking?
Speaker 3 (01:19:59):
No? No, no, okay, all right, here we go.
Speaker 16 (01:20:01):
The reason why we say that we're feeling blue when
we're sad is because ships traditionally flew blue flags when
their captain passed away. And we say good nights sleep
tight because beds used to be supported by ropes, so
if you tighten the robes, the bed would get firmer
and more comfortable to sleep on. And nosy people are
called eavesdroppers because an eve is the part of a
roof that extends past the walls of a home, so
if someone was trying to overhear a conversation inside, they
(01:20:23):
would stand right under it. A fiasco is a messy situation,
but it also means flask in Italian, and when Italian
glass makers messed up one of their designs, they would
scrap it and use the glass to make a generic
flask instead.
Speaker 8 (01:20:34):
A fiasco.
Speaker 16 (01:20:35):
If you're being too loud, people will tell you to
put a sock in it, and that's because gramophones didn't
have bolume controls, so people would literally stuff socks into
the horn to dampen the sound. And pulling all the
stops actually comes from the fact that pipe organs do
have boling controls. Each pipe is controlled by a knob
called a stop, so if all the stops are pulled out,
all the pipes can be played at once. And the
tallest mast on a ship used to be called a skyscraper,
(01:20:57):
which is why we now call the tallest buildings in
a city skyscraper. A square meal is a full and
balanced meal, and we call it that because sailors used
to nail these wooden squares to the tables to stop
the plates from sliding off.
Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
H I wasn't that interested in any of those, Greg,
I could not he or I wanted to thought they'd
be better.
Speaker 2 (01:21:18):
Those idioms aren't any good. Aren't that great?
Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
Yo?
Speaker 5 (01:21:24):
Why did you put a sock in?
Speaker 2 (01:21:25):
And if he'd covered shut your bye hole something like that?
Speaker 3 (01:21:29):
Well, I mean, but those are.
Speaker 5 (01:21:30):
That's probably just eating Greg.
Speaker 2 (01:21:32):
I'm just telling you I was not that in.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
I mean I expected it, I would go I've always
wondered about that.
Speaker 2 (01:21:37):
I didn't have any of those. Not wanting about you
didn't like that?
Speaker 3 (01:21:42):
What about what about sleep tight?
Speaker 2 (01:21:44):
Didn't make sense?
Speaker 5 (01:21:45):
What about sleep He didn't understand it, y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:21:48):
He didn't understand what's wrong with could not sleep tight? Yeah,
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:21:52):
You never word wondered about that. What did you think
it meant?
Speaker 2 (01:21:55):
I didn't. I don't know, like you get your covered tight?
I did too, same thing. I thought like that.
Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
I'm with that learn something?
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
No, I'm just I just say I didn't learn nothing,
but it was nothing that I went. Yeah, I was
always wondering.
Speaker 6 (01:22:07):
That evesdropper you didn't care about.
Speaker 3 (01:22:10):
You just stand under the eve of the roofs so
you could hear evesdropper. You're trying to evesdrop.
Speaker 2 (01:22:16):
You didn't like that one? That not really? What about
skyscaper scraper?
Speaker 9 (01:22:20):
Really?
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
What about that one up in the building that's it?
Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
What about square meals three square meals?
Speaker 2 (01:22:28):
Okay, I'll go with that one.
Speaker 3 (01:22:30):
That was that was your most interesting one square plate
thing on there? Yeah, that's pretty good. Well I've never
heard that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:40):
Well.
Speaker 6 (01:22:40):
For people that want to learn more about this, we've
got a page on on the website called it's.
Speaker 2 (01:22:44):
Called boring ass page.
Speaker 9 (01:22:49):
Crag.
Speaker 6 (01:22:50):
It's called RIX tips and just because of what we've
been talking about recently, called it is RIX picks.
Speaker 5 (01:22:58):
It's rix Nick.
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
I thought you was somebody idioms by way, that was
a long way home for that joke.
Speaker 7 (01:23:05):
What we introduced the video and made me watching.
Speaker 3 (01:23:09):
Somebody idiots now my comment don't even care. That was
a long way home for that liner.
Speaker 5 (01:23:15):
There's Rick Bergie show dot compound.
Speaker 2 (01:23:20):
Rick Ni, thank you. You know what it is?
Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
Didn't apply watching watching the text line today, I'm not alone.
I think this could be a new product for the store.
M Yes, Rick, have that face on it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:40):
Hey, hey hey we got those stickers. We yeah, you
want to go, let me go grab something. You put
them on real quick.
Speaker 3 (01:23:46):
No, I'm not putting those on show. Do it over
your shirt, see how they would work? Rip hair out,
let's put it over you. I'm I'm not taking a
sticker that is meant to be on your computer or
something like that and putting it on my body.
Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
You put them on your brother, I'd rather not.
Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
No, we ain't that close. No, we're not that close.
Speaker 2 (01:24:08):
I put one on on the outside. That's too that
the box seats won't have.
Speaker 5 (01:24:12):
Now that's if you don't do this, Rick is going
to be a fiasco the weall.
Speaker 2 (01:24:19):
That's true. You didn't like that one. You didn't like that? Now,
that was my least.
Speaker 5 (01:24:24):
That was he didn't understand it.
Speaker 2 (01:24:26):
I didn't get it. I've never thought about it.
Speaker 3 (01:24:30):
Yeah, I thought that was like you know, and then
and then this is happening, which I knew was going
to happen. And that is people are saying, that's not
the true origin of square meals. See now everybody they know, Yeah, yeah,
they usually these little stickers.
Speaker 5 (01:24:45):
That would be good, right, No, they're sized, they're not.
Speaker 3 (01:24:49):
They're actually not.
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
A little bit. That's a little big for me. Let's
go ahead and pull that shirt up and get that. Now,
it guys, honestly trying to help your brother.
Speaker 9 (01:24:57):
This is true.
Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
I know that that y'all think this is gonna happen,
and I hope it's not too disappointing when it does it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:03):
There's somebody you can turn around that, but that's playing
like band aids, because we don't have band aids right now.
Speaker 3 (01:25:08):
Picture Rick, You're watching somebody, a professional jogger. He finishes
the race, he grabs his shirt, rips it off, and
then you look in there and.
Speaker 2 (01:25:15):
There's there's your two. There's the logo coming there as
your face.
Speaker 5 (01:25:18):
You need to do them.
Speaker 6 (01:25:19):
I mean you got you got some special going on
under that shirt, buddy, I mean you could make orange juice.
Speaker 5 (01:25:23):
You got some real Okay, you can make an orange juice.
Speaker 2 (01:25:29):
Just turn around and face the logo. We won't see you,
and then spin around and go what about this? What
about I know this one is here. You need to
calm him down, all right? Sorry, Greg wasn't even here yesterday.
How can you be this bad? So so you're scared
to do it? Bottom line, spin around, spin around and
(01:25:51):
do it. We don't have to see it. And put
it outside of my shirt. No, no, put them on
top of the little uh the top that way, so
he's got to go back to it that way. Don't
rip he don't rip his hair. Yeah, the boy grace,
I think here, let me see one. You're gonna put
it on him? No, loyal to the show. I'm to
(01:26:12):
say that's taking place you want instead of sitting there
watching him struggle trying to get the sticky part of
let me tell you that's.
Speaker 5 (01:26:23):
Let me tell you what.
Speaker 3 (01:26:24):
And I found out yesterday that there's certain things that
he's not very good at and I'm not either. Okay,
and well we we ran aground yesterday, didn't we?
Speaker 2 (01:26:31):
But you save it?
Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
All right, let's stay there.
Speaker 6 (01:26:35):
I'm cutting out of the shot so that he doesn't
have to do this part on camera.
Speaker 2 (01:26:40):
And that's right.
Speaker 19 (01:26:42):
The size of that well it's a little too big,
but I mean he's he's a little bit too big
than to Here we go, Here we go, let's see
what happens.
Speaker 2 (01:26:52):
Here we go. Wow, those man, buddy, you've got something.
Those things are amazingly sharp.
Speaker 5 (01:27:01):

Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
Those have overcome the stick, They overcome sticks. Okay, you
know what it is. Now, I'm just gonna have to
wear a vest. I'm just gonna have to wear a vest.
Speaker 3 (01:27:15):

Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Somebody said gorilla tech might work.
Speaker 3 (01:27:20):

wearing a camo vest over everything I wear.
Speaker 5 (01:27:24):

hit on today. I want to point you to our
friends at MyPillow dot com slash big vox. When you

the United States of America.

Did you know this? Make find of that? Greg Simmi quinstentinnial.
Speaker 9 (01:31:18):
That good?
Speaker 3 (01:31:18):
But I just say well and practice yesterday. So every
state has their responsibility to start celebrating and getting ready
for the two hundred and fiftieth birthday of America. So
where we live and those of you that may know
this or may not, we live in Alabama. That's where
(01:31:38):
we're all from, probably painfully obvious if we didn't even
take anyone. So we have an opportunity to be part
of celebrating this and being kind of the spokes of
people for this celebration. Now is this has led to
(01:31:59):
various photo shoots and things like that. Yesterday there was
a photo shoot that took place because what they want
to do now is build up to the actual birthday
by celebrating America and all of America's history heading into
that birthday. And there here's some footage from yesterday and
(01:32:23):
of something that that I had to do involving George Washington.
Speaker 5 (01:32:26):
Yeah, yeah, is this the first one you want to find.
Speaker 3 (01:32:28):
I think, so these are some social right here? You know,
anythink that Shret's perfect?
Speaker 2 (01:32:33):
It is? That's good.
Speaker 5 (01:32:35):
I do see you and now you conoy.
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
I'm really focusing on that.
Speaker 5 (01:32:39):
You work.
Speaker 2 (01:32:39):
We focus on the flag place, all right? Go ahead?
Semi Quincentennial? Did I say that?
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:32:46):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
But you'll never never said what are you doing?
Speaker 16 (01:32:50):
Rick?
Speaker 3 (01:32:50):
Well, I'm actually cutting some commercials for American Village. You know,
we're celebrating our country's about to have our two hundred
and fiftieth birthday. So I have the honor of being
our spokesperson in Sweet Home, Alabama as part of the.
Speaker 2 (01:33:02):
Fifty and fifty United States. And how do you say?
The two interred few semi Quin Centennial? Wow? That semi Quincentennial.
That's it?
Speaker 9 (01:33:16):
Is that right?
Speaker 2 (01:33:17):
I thought it was more complicated? Why you squinting?
Speaker 3 (01:33:18):
I think you're doing what I did once I discovered
I could start with semi Yeah. I thought it all
was Yeah, I thought it all ran together. But you're
right that changed everything.
Speaker 2 (01:33:27):
Yeah? Yeah, because I probably needn't how to say it.
But didn't they show us a day? There's like four
options there are, yeah, yeah, and the last one, the
last one was or just say two hundred and fiftieth.
Speaker 3 (01:33:37):
Pers Yeah, which which is the one? Which is the
one I picked?
Speaker 2 (01:33:39):
Yeah? So they brought in a life sized stand up
of George water and brought you in a wig too, Yes,
and they.
Speaker 20 (01:33:47):
Had and put it on a paddle patterned powder. Watch
out there, fella over there and here they are kind
of getting you situated.
Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
Okay, it's just from the shoot. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:33:59):
The glasses okay, if you want them off.
Speaker 2 (01:34:06):
I've been a great founding father too, all right, so
you tell him where.

You want it.
Speaker 2 (01:34:14):
Don't miss big boy in the background, Okay, looking on like.
Speaker 3 (01:34:17):

huge yesterday. Jared Hudson if you missed an envy?
Speaker 2 (01:34:31):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:34:32):

first president, George Washington.
Speaker 2 (01:35:06):

good in that wagon that their view didn't have the
glare like just on the side. Does does George have
a wig on in that? Or is that his real hair? Wig?
That wig thing right there? No, No, that may be
is rue hair. I didn't think about that.
Speaker 5 (01:35:23):

Speaker 3 (01:50:03):
I was about to say, can anyone document anyone who
grew after thirty nine?
Speaker 5 (01:50:06):
I know I'm wanting seriously, I would take measure.
Speaker 2 (01:50:08):
Speedy come here, okay?
Speaker 5 (01:50:10):
Can we then we just put this to bed.
Speaker 7 (01:50:12):
We can't camp make you bad.
Speaker 4 (01:50:17):
I need you're cut? Did you do that?
Speaker 1 (01:50:26):
Starting for him?
Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
Right? It's Speedy. He wants to get this. Where where
did they go? Where they.
Speaker 8 (01:50:36):
Came?
Speaker 2 (01:50:38):
Alright, you're working on all right, we all know speed cheat.
You gotta get against you got guy? Do you need
to help?
Speaker 3 (01:50:48):
All right? Greg's coming to help stand because we don't
trust you guys.
Speaker 5 (01:50:51):
Yeah, Speedy is gonna totally cheap.
Speaker 2 (01:50:53):
Gregs coming out.
Speaker 5 (01:50:54):
You have to be against the wall, won't be accurate.
Speaker 3 (01:50:58):
Why don't have to be against the wall, Speedy, You
don't have to. You don't have to try work on
your impression of Hilary.
Speaker 5 (01:51:05):
All right, if you keep talking like that during this,
we're done, right.
Speaker 2 (01:51:08):
Hey, Speedy, you do need to add a slight list
right here. All right, all right, Adler get.
Speaker 5 (01:51:15):
Over and can't talk in well, yeah we can.
Speaker 3 (01:51:17):
We're gonna solve this once and for all. Okay, We're
gonna measure Addler once and for all. All these different
theories out there on his actual height, We're going to
measure him right now, once and for all. He's against
the door that separates his TV area from the rest
of the studio. All right, Speedy is marking it. Greg
has the tape measure. All right, so we've marked the spot.
(01:51:41):
Now Greg will run the tape measure down. Speedy hold it,
wor Adder. I think you're gonna do Okay, here, I
think you're I'm not five to four, No, I think
it's gonna hit somewhere around five six. Okay, all right,
so the five one.
Speaker 21 (01:51:56):
I'm not five.
Speaker 4 (01:51:59):
And a half.
Speaker 5 (01:52:00):
Okay, five to six and a half. You moved your thumb.
Speaker 3 (01:52:03):
There it is, you're five six. I've known this for years.
I didn't know how to tell you. I mean, yeah,
you're five six.
Speaker 5 (01:52:11):
Wait. Speedy moved his finger, absolutely moved his finger.
Speaker 4 (01:52:16):
Do it again.
Speaker 2 (01:52:16):
I'll show you. Look your five six.
Speaker 5 (01:52:22):
You know y'all pulled it up from the bottom of
the door.
Speaker 2 (01:52:25):
No, no, look, five six is not that bad.
Speaker 5 (01:52:32):
Oh look we're getting a call from Dean and Sarah.
Speaker 2 (01:52:36):
That's good.
Speaker 5 (01:52:38):
So all right, we're done with this.
Speaker 2 (01:52:40):
Okay, right at five to seven, I'll give you thank you?
Speaker 3 (01:52:46):
Can I say?
Speaker 5 (01:52:47):
That's what I said? Five to seven? Can five seven?
Speaker 9 (01:52:50):
All right?
Speaker 5 (01:52:51):
Not trying to brag, but I'm five seven.
Speaker 6 (01:52:53):
Up in this mugn on that I think you five
seven in my show?
Speaker 3 (01:52:57):
Okay, so speedy, let me to bring this up the
text people already are. When you go to the doctor,
they make you take your shoes off.
Speaker 6 (01:53:06):
I'm wearing I'm wearing flip flops anyway, so it's fine,
flip flip flops.
Speaker 2 (01:53:10):
Well close. Yeah, he's taller, and I thought he was.
Speaker 3 (01:53:13):
Yeah, thank you, What are you talking about? He barely
makes five seven? Okay, right, he's uh.
Speaker 5 (01:53:20):
Four and that's what he thought.
Speaker 3 (01:53:21):
I was five four, that's what his shoes on.
Speaker 5 (01:53:24):
I got to tell you.
Speaker 2 (01:53:24):
And I thought he was like five eight or five nine.
Why you thought I thought he was five eight?
Speaker 3 (01:53:29):
Are you kidding?
Speaker 18 (01:53:30):
No?
Speaker 3 (01:53:30):
I really in my mind I did, Well, what what
he's what he's been victim of is he's got a
false sense of his tallness because everybody exaggerates how tall
they are, and so he's been around other exaggerators. So
then he thinks, well, look how I'm standing next to
this person. So he started thinking he was taller because
other people exaggerated their height and he was around then.
Speaker 6 (01:53:51):
Yeah, so so that's I'm going back and watching the
evidence to see if Speedy moves his finger.
Speaker 2 (01:53:56):
Right.
Speaker 5 (01:53:56):
I don't promise you that's what terrified trust, but.
Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
Better be careful of coause we could come back and
remeasure with you with no shoes on.
Speaker 5 (01:54:05):
Look, you took your hand away. You can't take your hand. No,
I measure it. I marked it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:09):
I marked marked it when I mar the pin mark.
Speaker 2 (01:54:14):
I marked it when I had it on top of
your hand.
Speaker 5 (01:54:16):
Clearly went down.
Speaker 2 (01:54:16):
Clearly, that's what I did with my boys.
Speaker 3 (01:54:18):
Ter you just said that it didn't matter, and so let'sten.
It doesn't matter. It's you know what he does.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
Do it on the door frame like we do the
door Yeah, he does grow. Yeah, we'll put today's date.
Speaker 5 (01:54:36):
It's gonna be one line. The line's gonna stay the same.
If anything, it's gonna go down.
Speaker 2 (01:54:42):
With the day's technology. Nutrition knows and whatever shoes you're wearing,
you could be taller on you know, like next year.
Speaker 5 (01:54:50):
I don't lift. By the way, now check my now
look at the bottom. So it's leave him out of it.
Y'all can hate.
Speaker 6 (01:55:03):
By the way, I will say, you can check my
shoes anytime. If you put something in your shoes, you're
a loser. I'm sorry, but you are if you put
if you if you put something in your shoes to
the collar, you're a loser.
Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
You know you are.
Speaker 3 (01:55:13):
Do you ask how many celebrities you just upset?
Speaker 5 (01:55:16):
I'm sorry, mantel about it. If you're gonna be short,
he's not gonna be short.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Being a good man.
Speaker 3 (01:55:24):
Damn it, says the guy, says the guy who fought
and clawed for a half inch.
Speaker 2 (01:55:29):
Yeah, I'm still never cratch.
Speaker 5 (01:55:33):
You can't touch the numbers out at the hour.
Speaker 1 (01:55:37):
This is The Rick Burgess Show, Big Box Entertainment pre
Sam's The Rick Burgess Show with Speedy, Greg Burgess, Edie
(01:55:59):

Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
Mature being with us.
Speaker 3 (01:56:05):
It is a brand new hour and we are excited
about going forward. We have our studio guests settling into
the vox seats. They got it just like they like it.
We'll meet them coming up a little bit later on.
The gang's all here today. So we've been talking a
(01:56:25):
good bit when we kicked off this year. We have
three man church conferences. Birmingham's conference has already happened. That
was about a week and change ago. Had a great,
great weekend, but two powerful weekends remain Panama City, Florida
in Atlanta, Georgia. The next one up is Panama City, Florida.
(01:56:48):
A great lineup.
Speaker 2 (01:56:50):
It will be there.
Speaker 3 (01:56:51):
Rich Wingo, we'll be there. Andy Blanks, I'll be speaking.
We'll have Chuck Hooton leading worship. Ted Trailer coming over
from Pensacola. He'll be speaking. And our next guests Pastor
Dean in Sarah City Church, Tallahassee, Florida. Dean, Welcome to
the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 8 (01:57:11):
Hey Rick, Thanks, I'm excited to be here and excited
for our great event coming at the end of the month.
Speaker 2 (01:57:15):
Yeah, I am too.
Speaker 3 (01:57:17):
I do want to take on one thing with you
right out of the gate, and I'm sure this has
been an ongoing issue with you.
Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
And this is your last name.
Speaker 3 (01:57:25):
Oh yeah, this there is no Sarah his wife that's
not his wife's name. It's not Dean and Sarah. You know,
Chrissy is his wife's name. It's Dean, I N And
then s E R R A. Have you dealt with
this most of your life?
Speaker 8 (01:57:43):
My entire life Back in the intercom system and the
night in the eighties and the elementary school days, they
came on the intercom and said, please send Dean and
Sarah to the office. Me and a girl named Sarah
got up and went to the office. She walked in
and said, what are you doing here? So one more
thing about that. My brother actually his wife's name is Sarah. No,
there is a Sarah in Sarah in the family.
Speaker 2 (01:58:06):
Wise.
Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
Oh well, uh that that that's loads of fun. But anyway,
let's let's talk a little bit you. You have been
very very bold in taking on, you know, the things
that people actually talk about, uh, even in church.
Speaker 15 (01:58:23):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
I know that we're going to go back to one
of one of your books, but I know the one
I just read from you is that church? What is
it all about? And you know I follow you on
social media too, and you've said this, which is true.
The local church still the best thing going. Uh, but
I think there is sometimes Uh it's we're so far
(01:58:43):
removed from the establishment of the church in the Book
of Acts in the New Testament, uh that I think
that was important for you to kind of go back
and say, hey, let's go back to the basics on
why the local church is still the best thing going
talk about that for a minute.
Speaker 8 (01:58:59):
Well, the local church is God's design, and there's more
to being a Christian than them going to church. There's
definitely not less, so even something as simple as walking
in the door on a Sunday morning. Again, that's not
the entire story of the Christian life, but by simply
doing that, you're actually participating in what God has given
his people for discipleship, for mission, for community to actually happen.
(01:59:20):
So we don't want to overcorrect just because maybe churches
don't look exactly like the Book of Acts are always
operate exactly as they should. It doesn't do away with
the fact that God has a clear plan for his people.
So there's no such thing in the Bible as an
unchurched Christian, but that would be unrecognizable to the writers
they do Testament. It's assumed as they're writing the letters
that Christians are part of local congregations. In fact, Paul's
(01:59:43):
letters are all in the context of local churches under
leadership who are a part of an actual organized body.
So it's really trendy to say, you know, I don't
like organized religion. You hear that a lot with the religion.
The Bible is very organized, right. God has a clear
design of the plan for his church, so it matters
a lot. I want to courage anyone the SAME's the
name of Christ to make sure they're a part of
a local church.
Speaker 3 (02:00:04):
I think you probably do this too. You know, we
get a lot of opportunities. And I love being in
a position where people say, hey, I want to grow spiritually,
I'm not growing. Tell me some things I should do
and the first thing, And I know you're the same
way as I say, are you plugged in to the
local church? Are you participating in the bride of Christ?
(02:00:26):
And you know, most of the time, when someone feels
like they aren't growing spiritually or maybe they haven't begun,
you know, they feel pretty good about being justified. And
then you know, as Billy Sunday said, we'll see if
there's any proof of that. But they don't really know
either what to do next or they need to do
something to grow spiritually. And my first question always is
(02:00:48):
not do you attend a local church. Are you immersed
in the local church? Do you participate in the local church.
And as you point out in this book, you'll find
no it example of someone claiming to be a follower
of Christ and not being immersed in the local church.
Speaker 8 (02:01:05):
Yeah, when I see someone detached from a church, I
worry about their future because more times than not, you're
going to see that person that kind of starts off
sort of a self righteous pious My church isn't deep enough,
it's not that enough. But then they find themselves not
in part of a church at all, and before you
know it, maybe a couple of years down the road,
they're hardly in the faith at all, this kind of
lone ranger. No church is good enough for me. I
(02:01:27):
can grow on my own. It never has great results
at the end. So I worry for anybody that has
that posture and has that thought process.
Speaker 3 (02:01:34):
Yeah, at the risk of being you know, I don't
want to come across as rude, because you know, everybody
here says Rick, that's not your nature. But I try
not to be. But I almost look at that person
that the church hopper now. Now, there are times when
something's going on in the church that you know is
bad theology or worst case heresy.
Speaker 2 (02:01:53):
Where you do need to move on.
Speaker 3 (02:01:54):
But you know, these people that just seem to be
hopping from church to church, or it's not a real
church and lets it meets in a basketball gym somewhere,
you know, it doesn't have its own facilities or anything
like that. I had a friend of mine that works
with churches, building churches and added on to churches, and
he said, you have you ever noticed how people always
claim you know all the ones? He said, I've seen
(02:02:15):
people be prideful about their facilities, but I've also seen
people be prideful about the lack of facilities. You know,
if our facilities are a basketball gym, we're closer to
Jesus than the one that actually, you know, has Sunday
school classes and a worship center, you know, and neither
one of those are an indicator of anything. It's whether
God is moving there or not. But do you sometimes
(02:02:36):
if you're a church hopper and it's always something the
church isn't doing. I almost lump those in with the
person that's been divorced seven times and can't figure out
that it might be them.
Speaker 8 (02:02:47):
Yeah, eventually you got to go, who's the common denomint
hater here?
Speaker 9 (02:02:51):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:02:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:02:52):
If your church again, is you know, drifting away from
the scriptures, you know, some kind of progressive theology or
legalism on the other side, or there's unethical things that
are happening, Sure, that's probably not the church you want
to be a part of. But there are good churches
out there, and if you can never find one, there's
more good than there are not. Then eventually I look
in the mirror and go, who's the issue here?
Speaker 2 (02:03:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:03:15):
This actually led in my testimony, Dean, for me coming
to faith in Christ the true Justification. We'll get into
your other book when we come back. The Unsaved Christian.
I was one of those, and I had not been
in church in thirteen years. And when I was standing
before a pastor wanting to come into his church and
be married, and he asked me, well, what church do
(02:03:37):
you belong to? And I said, well, I don't, And
then I did the very thing that you talk about. Well,
you know, you don't have to go to church to
be a Christian. That was my first statement. And he
looked at me and he said, legalistically, that is correct. However,
he made your other point, I don't know anyone who
is truly redeemed that is not involved in the local church.
They don't go to the local church that may them redeemed.
(02:04:01):
I just don't know any truly redeemed person that isn't
involved in the church. It seems to be a fruit
of true redemption. And he leveled me with that, and
then we begin to look into my life to see
if we saw any other evidence, and as you said,
me not being involved in local church, it didn't take
long to realize that was one thing that didn't look consistent.
(02:04:22):
But then we found my whole life was inconsistent with
the claim that I've been transformed by the very power
of the Holy Spirit that had risen Jesus from the grave.
And I realized that my lack of transformation didn't say
a whole lot about Jesus.
Speaker 8 (02:04:37):
Well, yeah, I'm glad he had that conversation with you,
and I think it just we have to continue to
say we don't know better than God, right, right, And
if God said this is my design, like this is
where I want my people to live, their Christian lives
to flourish, to be together to be on mission. And
then we say no to that that that we really
are if we don't mean it, we're functionally saying that
(02:04:58):
we think we know better than him about what his
plan is for his people when we try to live
in unchurched Christianity that again is unrecognizable in the scriptures.
Speaker 3 (02:05:05):
Yeah, and we go right back to the garden that
first problem we had. We don't trust him to say
what's right and wrong. We want to have a saying.
Speaker 2 (02:05:13):
We'll come back. Dean and Sarah is our guest. He'll
be speaking.
Speaker 3 (02:05:16):
Panama City, will be there for the Man Church Conference
February twenty one, twenty two. If you don't have your
tickets yet, and I know you're coming from all over,
I got an update yesterday.
Speaker 2 (02:05:27):
We're excited, but we've got.
Speaker 3 (02:05:28):
Room for you. First Baptist Panama City has a great facility,
So if you still want to be part of that,
there's tickets available at the Manchurch dot com.
Speaker 2 (02:05:36):
More with Dean and Sarah right after this.
Speaker 1 (02:05:39):
This is the Rick Burgess Show Only in America? Could
(02:06:04):
these four men do this for a living God bless America?
This is the Wick budget s.
Speaker 2 (02:06:13):
Yeah, thank you, we're back.
Speaker 3 (02:06:17):
Pastor Dean and Sarah as our guest City Church, Tallahassee, Florida,
and really those of you in the audience really got
to know him through something we do every week, the
Wednesday Bible Study. Start out as just a men's Bible
study from the local church and now has grown into
this because of the technology. It has seen and heard
(02:06:38):
all over the world. Men and women. Only men in
the room. But when we're going through, you know, the
books of the Bible, certainly anyone can join us for that.
And at one time we started also doing books that
I thought would be great to walk through with these men.
I came across somebody came to visit the show and said,
our pastor, and you are like brothers from another mother.
(02:07:03):
You guys are talking about cultural Christianity and talking about
the importance of reaching and discipling men. I think you
will connect with this guy. And I was handed the
book The Unsaved Christian. Now I've already talked about the
great resource the church, what is it all about? Let
me tell you another one before we get to The
Unsaved Christian. This book pure Dean, you know, saying, you know,
(02:07:26):
once again God knows what He's doing. His plan for
sexual purity is actually quite logical. It is not outdated,
and there's a reason that God had this plan and
you unpacked that. What a great resource for families getting
over yourself in this time of obsessing over ourselves in
(02:07:46):
the me generation. That is a great one. Marks of
a disciple all the way back in twenty twenty one,
also dealing with the things that we should see in
our lives.
Speaker 2 (02:07:56):
But Dean, talk about this.
Speaker 3 (02:07:58):
When you went out of seminary, I know your story
from reading the book. You really were disappointed that you'd
been called to go to the Bible belt walk out
what you discovered, which led to the book The Unsaved Christian.
Speaker 8 (02:08:11):
Yeah, I felt like I was kind of taking the
easy way out. My neighbor was moving to northern California
to be part of a church planting team. So I'm like, man,
he's really going home in mission field, and I'm going
to you know, Tallahassee. That's ten miles from the Georgia border,
and you know, less than an hour from Alabama, and
there's churches everywhere. So I just kind of felt like,
I call it mission o guilt. You know, it's like
(02:08:31):
when during spring break, when you're a kid. You're in college,
all your friends are going on a mission trip and
you're going.
Speaker 2 (02:08:37):
To the beach. You feel bad about that.
Speaker 8 (02:08:40):
Yeah, so I just try to make myself feel better,
I think.
Speaker 14 (02:08:43):
So.
Speaker 8 (02:08:43):
I was just kind of buttering him up and trying
to say, hey, man, I just admire you what you're doing.
It's so amazing. And you're really going out there taking
your family to California and it's like a different country.
And he said, oh, stop it. I said, what do
you mean. He said, where you're going to Tallahassee is
more different cult then where I'm going. And I said,
why the world would you say that? He said, well,
(02:09:04):
I'm going in California. There's no confusion over who's a
Christian who's not. Either you follow Jesus or you don't
where you're going, everyone thinks they're fine.
Speaker 4 (02:09:13):
Right.
Speaker 8 (02:09:14):
It's almost like someone has to see they're lost in
order for them to get saved. It's almost like a
first conversion that has to happen is ever realizing their loss,
as in they're separated from God. Where so many people
claim to be Christians in the South, and their reason
for believing they're Christians really has nothing to do with
the work of Jesus, where if you ask somebody or
you a Christian, they'd say yeah. You might say okay,
(02:09:34):
what makes you a Christian and they'll say, well, I'm
a good person, I believe in God, I come from
a Christian family, you know, go to church sometimes. Yeah,
of course I'm a Christian. Notice what did not come
out of my mouth when I just answered why I'm
a Christian? I didn't even say the name of Jesus.
I'm not the judge of who's a Christian, and neither
of you, nobody is except for the Lord. But the
scriptures are clear that if your answer to why you're
(02:09:55):
a Christian is something other than the work of Jesus
on the cross, on your behalf and is read, then
you might not be. So that really started fueling me.
I just needed to hear that. It's fueled me ever
since because for far too long we've seen cultural Christianity
as a discipleship issue where we think, oh man, Rich
just got to get more serious about the Lord, just
kind of get it together, get back to church, when
(02:10:16):
I would say, no, it's actually an evangelism issue. The
issue is these people actually don't know Jesus so that
should make us compassionate towards them and want to actually
see them come to know the Lord. And they're just
as lost as the atheist in California because their answer
to why they're a Christian is not the name of Christ.
So that fuels me to this day. It's my mission field,
and I thank God he has me in the southern
part of the United States.
Speaker 2 (02:10:36):
And it's so desperately needed.
Speaker 3 (02:10:38):
And it is a lot of work.
Speaker 8 (02:10:40):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:10:40):
It's the same thing that happened.
Speaker 9 (02:10:41):
To me me.
Speaker 3 (02:10:41):
I mean, this book is about me, this was me.
Speaker 2 (02:10:45):
That's my story.
Speaker 9 (02:10:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:10:46):
I was saved out of it as well.
Speaker 3 (02:10:47):
Yeah, and I remember one of them and it led
to my redemption. And and I had to say this Dan,
And right now it even brings up emotion because it's
such a terrible thing to say. But I said to
to Jesus, I know you, I know all about you.
I've been taught what you did and uh, but I
(02:11:08):
understand now that I've looked at the evidence of you
in my life, I do not see it.
Speaker 14 (02:11:12):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:11:12):
And I know that you loved me. I've been told that.
I mean, look what you did. Here's the problem. I
don't love you, and I don't love you because I
don't know you. Uh and and and I want and
I want.
Speaker 2 (02:11:25):
To change that.
Speaker 3 (02:11:25):
I do want to experience you. And I just said,
you know, I'm I want you to forgive me for
the man that I am. Only you can change me.
And I repented of who I was and knew it
wouldn't happen overnight, but I said, I do know you,
and you only can change me. And I leave you
know my own authority, and I want, I want to
be under your authority. Please change me, Please forgive me,
(02:11:47):
make me something new.
Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
Uh and uh and and he did.
Speaker 3 (02:11:50):
And that didn't hap overnight, but at least that day
justification was done. And I'm still being sanctified, and I
sure do look forward to that day that I'll be glorified.
Speaker 2 (02:12:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:12:00):
And I was raised mainline Protestant, and that's not to
say there aren't some remnant good ones out there, but
sadly a lot of them have gone, you know, away
from the scripture. So I went to church every Sunday,
and I'm thankful my parents created that rhythm in our
lives and that healthy habit. But I never heard that
I was a sinner and that needed to be saying
that Jesus was the one who gave his life for me.
For I knew Jus that on the Cross, but it
wasn't in the context of being personal like for my sins.
(02:12:23):
So I went to it Fellsip, a Christian athletes retreat
when I was thirteen years old, and I heard the Gospel,
the Good News of Jesus for the first time, and
I gave my life to Christ eve though I'd been
at church every single Sunday, and when I got home,
I think people thought I joined a cult because a
cultural Christian doesn't think, oh, they're a Christian and I'm not. No,
they just think that guy's just really into his religious
(02:12:45):
Like I'm a Christian too, But you know, Rick, you know,
just I really respect that he's just really religious. You're
basically the person who gets asked to pray at Thanksgiving.
That's how they see you. That disconnect is there. They
don't know. They don't say, oh, wow, this this person
is a Christian and I'm not. So what we're saying
is we're not saying be more like me. We're saying, no,
(02:13:05):
make your faith have an object and that object is Christ.
So that's we have to keep pointing people to over
and over against when a cultural Christian, here's the gospel,
they're gonna see the disconnect. Like I didn't go in
a second. I've been in church and around religious things
my whole life and never heard of my actual personal
need for Christ. And that's really the mission field that
we find ourselves in, and that we need to keep
(02:13:26):
preaching the name of Jesus because he is the one
he claimed to be and He's the only way of salvation.
Not our good works, not our heritage, not our generic
belief in a lowercase g God, It's Christ.
Speaker 2 (02:13:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:13:37):
So it's been great to talk to you. I'm looking
forward to spend some time together. You know, you can
speak to it firsthand. And I said, we've only got
about forty seconds. There's no greater gift to a pastor
and to the church and a strong man's ministry, men
who are growing in their faith, and you know, that
really makes your job a lot easier.
Speaker 8 (02:13:55):
Definitely, And I'm convinced that that women know that as well.
You see why they want their husbands to follow Christ
and be serious about their faith. So it impacts everything
church family America. Strong men. Absolutely, it's what we need.
Speaker 3 (02:14:08):
Well, looking forward to February twenty first and twenty second
spending time together and doing just that. So thank you
for agreeing to be part of that. Thanks for today,
and thanks for how God continues to use.
Speaker 2 (02:14:18):
Your hen't wait.
Speaker 8 (02:14:20):
Thanks very appreciate you.
Speaker 3 (02:14:21):

spending time with him today and.
Speaker 2 (02:15:26):
Really really looking forward to that. It's gonna be a
lot of fun.
Speaker 3 (02:15:28):
Hey, if you're out there and we're looking, we're talking
to the folks in the big box seats today kind
of getting their assessment how things are going.
Speaker 2 (02:15:38):
They're checking out the new digs here, loving it.
Speaker 3 (02:15:41):
Have you thought to yourself, Look, this is something that
is often running and I want to partner with this
show and with these guys because I hear them partnering
with other people. I mean there's a vast audience that
we're fortunate enough to have access to. And if you're
wondering how to do that, I want to kind of
get give you just a couple of things to do. Uh,
(02:16:02):
you can talk to our friends at SSI Syndicated Solutions.
You've heard me talk about Bob Carey and the folks there.
I mean you obviously have you know the the radio
network you have access to, you have access to the
tune in audience, which is which is massive.
Speaker 2 (02:16:16):
You have access to all the platforms that we are on.
Speaker 3 (02:16:20):
And they also combine you with another show that they
syndicate that even picks up markets that maybe we're not in.
So the combination of the two shows really gives you
a footprint, uh, literally from coast to coast. So if
you'd like to find out more about how you can
tap into and now more than ever, as you know,
you just got to find the people and let them
(02:16:42):
hear your message.
Speaker 2 (02:16:43):
We'd love to go to work for you. Uh and UH.
Speaker 3 (02:16:45):
If you want to find out more, just simply go
straight to the source. You can go to Rick burgesshow
dot com, find that under contact or you can email
directly Rick Burgess Show at Syndicated Solutions dot com. We're
not about just you know, we're talking putting together a
full marketing plan that gives you access to I'm talking
about millions of people.
Speaker 1 (02:17:06):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:17:06):
And they do a good job of laying out the
plan for you. So if you have questions, contact them,
and of course you can always contact us too. So
here they are, guys, I mean, they're they're in the
they're in the seats right now. They're they're chilling. We've
even had a couple already playing basketball in the break.
It's almost like they they almost came into the room.
Like do you remember when you were like a kid
(02:17:26):
and somebody would take you to somebody's home and you've
never been there before, and you weren't really sure how
to act when they first brought you in. What can
I touch? Where can I see it?
Speaker 18 (02:17:34):
What?
Speaker 3 (02:17:34):
What should I not do? And it's almost like they're
they're not sure about their freedom and uh, and so
we're kind of gradually letting them go shoot a little basketball.
Speaker 2 (02:17:43):
I see y'all looking at the wheel. I see it. Yeah,
they all looking at the wheel. Yeah, raise your hand.
Speaker 3 (02:17:50):
If this is the first time that you've done anything
like this, whether it was on the Old Show or
this show, how many of you've never done this before?
You're here for the first time, all right, there's most
people first first experience, so so they don't have anything
to compare it to those that have seen other studios
in the past.
Speaker 1 (02:18:10):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:18:10):
They really like what you've done with the player Adler,
with the all the people you put together and Speedy.
I know you played a role in that too, And
and I know Greg didn't do much, but uh, and
I'm getting the studio ready.
Speaker 2 (02:18:21):
And I certainly did the wood Yeah. Greg actually did
the woodwork. Yeah, he worked on that shifted in from
Pleasant Valley. He did stand around and point and tell
us what we're doing wrong?
Speaker 3 (02:18:30):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:18:31):
Moral support, Yeah support. I did notice something in the
break with the basketball, you know, you can't just play
one game. Have you ever been able to play one game?
You know what I made of anything? No, it's like, okay,
let's go again.
Speaker 11 (02:18:42):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:18:44):
I could tell that they were like, hey, let's try
it again. Okay, let's go again.
Speaker 3 (02:18:47):
Let me tell you what's interesting about the couple that
was playing basketball is when they walked through the door,
and I found myself giving them great respect.
Speaker 2 (02:18:56):
I really did.
Speaker 3 (02:18:56):
And I know it's gonna make some of our friends
feel bad, but they they walked through the door and
I was like, wait a minute. We go to church together.
We're in the same Sunday class. And they said that's right.
And I'm like, did y'all just do this on your own?
And they're like absolutely, we were straight up. We didn't
ask you to do us a favor, didn't ask you
to bring us in, did and ask you to get
us seats? They went right, you know, And I hope
you are an example for a lot of my other
(02:19:18):
friends and acquaintances who would never do what y'all did.
They would simply text me and say when can we
come in and tell me? And I want a good seat,
and I mean a good one, a real good one.
And is there any way I could win a thousand
dollars as well? Could you rig it for us? But
but you know, and we're thinking about that. I mean,
I think today somebody will do a random number and
(02:19:41):
somebody will.
Speaker 2 (02:19:41):
Get a chance up the wheel today.
Speaker 3 (02:19:43):
Okay, but I saw this. You know, we're trying to
find a way on this basketball option. You know, maybe
another person gets to take on Adler. You just see
if they can hit more shots and they win maybe
some swag or the store, or.
Speaker 2 (02:19:55):
We pick two, We draw two numbers and they face
off and each other gets to do the wheel. Well,
good night, that's good. Are you saying that they play
each other? They play each other like it. I'm just
what we wanttaks Adds said he wants to take on Greg,
(02:20:16):
but you can't spend buddy. I know you want to
be Greg and anything you can.
Speaker 5 (02:20:20):
Whoever wins between us, we get to spin it.
Speaker 2 (02:20:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:20:22):
So what does what does?
Speaker 2 (02:20:24):
What does she have?
Speaker 3 (02:20:25):
The sign she has here?
Speaker 2 (02:20:26):
Sitting says, I'm one of Greg's minions and we're praying
for Lisa. Oh how nice is that?
Speaker 3 (02:20:31):
I'm sweet? Usually those two things don't go together. You
got Thompson got Thompson Warriors. Okay, Thompson Warriers, greg Son
and there's time.
Speaker 2 (02:20:41):
Yeah, and so that was I didn't expect.
Speaker 3 (02:20:44):
These are some there are some classing around for a
long time veterans. We we talked to Tom's wife. She's
been out the loop a little bit because she didn't
know Greg was on the show.
Speaker 2 (02:20:55):
Uh, spent a minute.
Speaker 3 (02:20:56):
I was there for the moment.
Speaker 2 (02:20:59):
The sophomore game. I said, that was a long I
was on the team, but I did not work here then.
Speaker 5 (02:21:03):
No, no, let me say what.
Speaker 3 (02:21:04):
I just saw this hilarious interaction because you know, she
she was one of the first people that you know,
we had to take the bathroom and uh and and
those of you that have wives, you know that they'll
uh and so.
Speaker 2 (02:21:18):
We were walking and I hear her go now, what's
your name again? To Greg? And Greg?
Speaker 3 (02:21:22):
And Greg says, I'm Greg. Now, how long have you
been on the show? Greg says sixteen years?
Speaker 2 (02:21:29):
And uh and to watch to watch her kind of
go oh, I've missed a few shows.
Speaker 3 (02:21:35):
I have clear you're here for I get that right.
Of course, Rick had you living in Pearl City. We
don't know where that game from.
Speaker 2 (02:21:41):
Pearl City, but not times. It's a different time from Georgia. Yeah,
I have.
Speaker 3 (02:21:46):
I have basically taken a man's name and acted like
there's nobody else on the planet one time other than you.
Speaker 2 (02:21:51):
Yeah, it must be.
Speaker 3 (02:21:54):
There's a guy calling at a pretty good clip from
from Bell City. I know Tom, a city whose name
was Tom. I thought it was Douglasville, Georgia town, but
I'm but I'm incorrect.
Speaker 2 (02:22:05):
So so good.
Speaker 3 (02:22:05):
Good to see you again, Tom. And how many of
you brought something for us to Yes, let's get let's
cut to it.
Speaker 2 (02:22:13):
How many of you did not? Okay, that's okay.
Speaker 3 (02:22:17):
I worked it out for you to be here. All right,
y'all won't get to spin the wheel, but that's no
to cephone.
Speaker 2 (02:22:24):
Who will play for the wheel?
Speaker 3 (02:22:26):
Now, we'll do all that random but somebody on the
on the text option and this is not our plan.
I want you to think that. Uh the person said,
it just all came together for me. So y'all, y'all
weren't gonna y'all got your free breakfast gig canceled right
then you realized how much it would cost to keep
(02:22:46):
it going, so you didn't do that trying to be
good stewards then you decided you would have vox seats
and bring a studio audience back while trying to act
like you don't want them to bring food, which of
course they will. And now breakfast is back, and we
changed it to twice a week, and then a yeah,
and I noticed you added an extra day.
Speaker 2 (02:23:05):
Brilliant. Basically this has.
Speaker 3 (02:23:07):
Been a really really complicated way to get breakfast. Yeah,
you know, and get it for free again. So so anyway,
now we're glad you guys are here. Thank you for listening.
I'm sure most of you listen to the old show
and now giving this this a chance to we're excited
about that, yes for sure. And we're having a lot
of fun and and we're we're gonna give you an opportunity.
(02:23:29):
Hopefully somebody is gonna win something today we help yeah, yeah,
or you'll you'll land on something that we'll do something
to entertain.
Speaker 2 (02:23:36):
Will has been very generous. It has been a generous will.
Speaker 3 (02:23:39):
And we're quoting. We're not faking it. Yeah, we're we're
quoting our new accountant big time.
Speaker 2 (02:23:45):
Rush on. Yeah, he's like came out and get a
little hot.
Speaker 3 (02:23:49):
Yeah, he said, hey, good work shows four weeks oh, yeah,
pull back day two we were down two grand.
Speaker 2 (02:23:55):
Yeah, I seem like going for a run and start
digging to get around the corner.
Speaker 5 (02:23:58):
Like wow, I know, I know.
Speaker 3 (02:24:00):
It's the budget you have for the wheel that does
this gonna be a fifty two week budget because you
eat into it pretty good.
Speaker 2 (02:24:07):
They're the first four weeks. All right, we'll come back.
We've got a lot to.
Speaker 3 (02:24:12):
Cover, so welcome to the Vox seats, and we thank
you guys for being here. We're looking forward to having
some fun with you.
Speaker 2 (02:24:20):
We also have other things to cover today. We'll unpack those.
We'll get more your phone calls into. That number is
eight eight eight, the number six big box.
Speaker 5 (02:24:30):
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (02:24:35):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. They are the uncles
your parents warned you about the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (02:24:51):
Thanks for being with us, unpacking another day together. Some
people on the lines saying, you know, we were kidding
around with the little face logos earlier, and somebody said,
and also the show logo, y'all should think about refrigerator magnets.
Speaker 2 (02:25:11):
Yeah, the people use refrigerator magnets.
Speaker 3 (02:25:15):
Now do we do that as much as that was
the thing growing up. We have one side that like that,
like you don't see it when you walk in on
one side of a bunch of the grandkids.
Speaker 2 (02:25:23):
Yeah, stickers and stuff. Yeah, yeah, I think that would
be awesome. I love the stickers. And by the way,
I keep forgetting give one to Reese because it worked.
They'll put stickers like on their hard hats or on
their lunch boxes and stuff like that.
Speaker 3 (02:25:34):
But do people do the refrigerator magnets?
Speaker 21 (02:25:37):
Uh u?
Speaker 2 (02:25:37):
Now, yeah we do.
Speaker 3 (02:25:38):
Sometimes we'll like the women are saying no, she says yes,
get them with the football yes, yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:25:43):
Yeah, yeah, football schedules and the ones. We don't put
a ton of them on there, but maybe one or
two and then like a family picture maybe underneath it
or something like that. We we clip them on. They'll
hold pictures.
Speaker 8 (02:25:55):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:25:55):
Yeah, our fridge is a mess. You open the fridge
and it sheds magnets. It's crazy.
Speaker 6 (02:26:00):
You got barn animals and ducks and okay and barns
and it's so we had a little mess.
Speaker 3 (02:26:06):
So if we had the face or a little show logo,
maybe the microphone logo or something like that like that.
Speaker 2 (02:26:11):
Wow, yeah, all right, Well my.
Speaker 3 (02:26:14):
Grandkids do you remember they got the little face things
that you had. Yes, they will still play with I'm
about to hand some of those out in here.
Speaker 2 (02:26:22):
I've got something.
Speaker 3 (02:26:23):
We're gonna hand some of those out.
Speaker 2 (02:26:26):
The first one.
Speaker 3 (02:26:27):
They should get them, you know. And yeah, Greg's kids
said one of them. I think still brings it out
from Yeah, bringing out you're looking face hold it up,
do you? And yeah, how about let's I've also noticed
I got this from and this. I think there's a
lot of this going on.
Speaker 4 (02:26:46):
Is I have.
Speaker 2 (02:26:48):
There is a.
Speaker 3 (02:26:51):
It's it's Bob Carrious indicated solution that that we just
talked about. So he he is in you know, the
city obviously New York, and and he said that he
was that he was looking on his smart TV for
Letterman's there's something called Letterman TV now. And look at
the logo that Letterman's using. Oh wow' yah because he's
(02:27:12):
got he's got he's got that big he's got a
face to yeah Letterman TV.
Speaker 2 (02:27:16):
Yeah, so that's that's what copy. Well, No, we didn't.
That face looks and it doesn't look just like the person.
Speaker 3 (02:27:22):
It's kind of like, you know, when we were we
were ricking Bubba, I mean, we had cartoon faces, cartoon
faces of me and that that's what that is. That's funny.
So yeah, and that's pretty common, you know when with
with the shows and stuff there, that's what letterman use.
Yeah yeah, his beard down, hands long. So, speaking of
(02:27:46):
interviews or whatever, this headline speedy you pulled out today?
Speaker 2 (02:27:50):
All right?
Speaker 3 (02:27:50):
Am I the only one that remembers the state of
Joe Biden at the end of his presidency?
Speaker 2 (02:27:57):
Am I the only one that remembers it? Anybody else
remember it.
Speaker 5 (02:27:59):
The beginning of his presidency as well his entire.
Speaker 3 (02:28:02):
Presidency at the end especially here's the headline. And I
understand that if you ever get to be president, there's
a huge cash in that's coming. You write a book,
you now, But if you're starting to get a lot
of opportunities to be a speaker and you can demand
a big speaking fee, don't you have to sort of
(02:28:25):
have the ability to actually speak.
Speaker 2 (02:28:27):
I would think it entire you to speak.
Speaker 3 (02:28:29):
So it says Joe Biden has signed with major Hollywood
agency after leaving office.
Speaker 2 (02:28:38):
You know, to be honest on what i'd pay to
say it?
Speaker 3 (02:28:40):
Oh yeah, he has landed himself representation with a big
Hollywood agency. So listen to this name. I heard he
going to start acting. Well, guess what the name of
the agency is, Creative Artist Agency. They represented him in
twenty seventeen to twenty twenty, but have they checked on
(02:29:01):
him lately? Yeah, it's this is their quote. President Biden
is one of America's most respected and influential voices in
national and global affairs. Makes maybe they should take the
(02:29:22):
name Creative Artist Agency and change that to Delusional Artist Agency,
because does anybody think that about the I mean in
the real world, now, I know, in the fake world
when you buy a ticket to that, would I go
see Biden just for the just see what happens?
Speaker 2 (02:29:42):
Maybe?
Speaker 3 (02:29:43):
Maybe because you remember when Bill and Hillary had that
tour and the ticket sales weren't great.
Speaker 2 (02:29:48):
Now I do remember that, but I guarantee you these
ticket sales early will be off the charts. Okay, I
mean like the Stones, all.
Speaker 3 (02:29:56):
Right, So listen to this. When when in twenty seventeen
he did a speaking tour with his book, promised me, Dad,
I don't know, here you go and they and they
sold in twenty seventeen. Now it's it's twenty twenty five now, right,
and this has been a rough eight okay hard eight
it's been a hard eight that last speaking tour, he
(02:30:19):
did so more than eighty five thousand tickets nationwide.
Speaker 2 (02:30:24):
But but the the old gray because you ain't what
she used to be. I mean, book my friend Cornpop,
the Story of the Man with Lady, Right, somebody with
the good one here and its probably they're probably right
because you know, the Biden's got a lot of money
for him to step down. Oh yeah, man, this is
part and don't even think about part of the deal.
Speaker 3 (02:30:46):
All those years and you lose use his influence to
get money from other countries and stuff.
Speaker 2 (02:30:49):
Don't forget about all that.
Speaker 3 (02:30:52):
Yeah, okay, but just just to go away. You're right,
it's stays.
Speaker 2 (02:30:59):
It makes a lot of s. Yeah, that makes a lot.
They didn't tell him.
Speaker 3 (02:31:03):
So so anyway, what so you other stars that that
called for him to step down? Of course, George Clooney,
as you meant, Ashley Judd, I didn't know that she
was screaming.
Speaker 2 (02:31:16):
I couldn't understand her.
Speaker 3 (02:31:17):
John Cusack, yeah, Rob Reiner, Oh, Stephen King. Now now
I understand they were wanted him to step down. That
didn't mean they were known to the other side. No,
they're still loonies. Well, are are you thinking that now
they've all agreed to buy a block of tickets to
the speaking to her? I don't know to the point,
but does anybody think that he can get up in
(02:31:40):
a No, I mean, I'm not making fun at all.
I'm just saying I do not think because of you
know where he was headed and we've we've experienced it.
Speaker 2 (02:31:48):
It just accelerates. And I'm not being funny. There's no
way he can do this. No, I don't think.
Speaker 3 (02:31:53):
No, so the agency, this doesn't feel like a great investment.
But I guess a former president there's a certain amount
of money you can make off of them just from that.
And of course he was he was in you know,
politics for what sixty years? Yeah, my goodness, you can
remember it. No, I'm just saying it's gonna be tough
for him to get up and delivery. Yeah, he would
be assault after speaker, no matter how you feel politically.
(02:32:17):
If he could recall his sixty years and all the
things he changes, well he changed. Yeah, But when you
when you when you toss it over to him and
say you remember back in I mean, I guess though, really,
if you think about the way Alzheimer's and dementia works.
He may be able to tell you about his childhood truth,
more than he can tell you about when he was present.
Speaker 2 (02:32:38):
That's so that's possible.
Speaker 9 (02:32:41):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 2 (02:32:42):
Every speech will be different because he misremembers all the time.
Yeah yeah, can he just make it up like he
always does.
Speaker 5 (02:32:47):
And he'll have trouble leaving the stage. You'll leave the
stage like a room.
Speaker 2 (02:32:50):
But maybe that's part of the app Maybe that's part
of the air. Now let's say this.
Speaker 3 (02:32:54):
You know how the guy used to say, well, no, no, no,
listen to this, No, listen, this is great, this is great.
Remember remember the that's what remember the famous Elvis has
left the building.
Speaker 2 (02:33:07):
Everybody's at the end.
Speaker 3 (02:33:08):
Also, and now she goes Ladies and gentlemen, Joe Biden
will now try to leave the building.
Speaker 9 (02:33:13):
You know, everybody's like, you know.
Speaker 3 (02:33:16):
Like at the end of like a Marvel movie. They
got one more thing you gotta wait for, you know,
as the credits roll and your way on it, ladies
and gentlemen, Joe Biden will now attempt to leave the building.
And I want to you know, when he gets mad,
starts threatening with everybody out, that's who I want to.
Speaker 7 (02:33:31):
Oh, I got hurry like a.
Speaker 2 (02:33:36):
Check down behind the shed.
Speaker 9 (02:33:38):
That's the one I know.
Speaker 2 (02:33:40):
Yeah, the first thing I would do when he came
to the lobby saying, you think he went me getting mad,
getting initated?
Speaker 3 (02:33:48):
So how was it you gotta take us to the
by thing?
Speaker 6 (02:33:50):
I did?
Speaker 3 (02:33:50):
What he kept screaming about having harry legs, screaming, I'm
not joking, I'm not joking.
Speaker 2 (02:33:55):
They can't tell us you wasn't joking.
Speaker 6 (02:33:56):
They could have him fall off a bike, you know,
do all of some stairs down some stairs for himself.
Speaker 2 (02:34:02):
Yeah, top of the hour. If you're leaving us, have
a great day. You got more Rick and Bubbet sticking around.
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (02:34:10):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, Rick Fox Entertainment pre
Sam's The Rick Burchers Show with Speedy, Greg Burgess, Andy
(02:34:33):
van Adler and.
Speaker 4 (02:34:36):
Rig We're back.
Speaker 2 (02:34:43):
We got a brand new hour. Thank you for being
with us and uh so yeah when we when we continued, we.
Speaker 3 (02:34:52):
Have This is a person that actually sent in said,
asked me, I've ever heard this song before? That's weird
and I have and and prayfully I'll never hear it again.
Speaker 8 (02:35:01):
I know that.
Speaker 2 (02:35:03):
Yeah, that's that's about.
Speaker 3 (02:35:04):
As bad as it gets Uh, it's called electric powwell
drum Halla, Halluci Nation or Halluci Nation something like that. Yeah,
So putting it on your Apple music, not putting it
on Apple music now, but thank you for that suggestion.
(02:35:24):
All right, So we're going to this this hour have
funny games or all a little funny games. Yeah, funny games,
and we're going to use the audience to to play
to funny games. But one thing I do want to do,
and I know you're in a handle right now.
Speaker 2 (02:35:38):
Yeah, what you got is sood okay?
Speaker 3 (02:35:41):
All right, So if if one of you will go
into my office and face out the window. You're looking
out the window, and then there's the bottom drawer. I
want you to open up the bottom drawer and you'll
see those stick masking there, and I want you to
bring eight of them or do we have nine? Ten?
Speaker 2 (02:35:57):
Ten? We have ten?
Speaker 1 (02:35:59):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (02:35:59):
And did you stopped listening you're looking at the looking
out the window. Yeah, and you'll see the printer. It's
the bottom drawer under the printer. Bless you in my office,
bless your heart. And he's in such a hurry. Yeah,
well isn't he getting at getting barely beat Joe Biden
to the door for a bowleg a kid right his
(02:36:20):
bow legged thing.
Speaker 2 (02:36:21):
I didn't know it.
Speaker 3 (02:36:21):
I didn't know it was Yeah, so that's his pinky
to So I want you to know a listener asked
me to try that bad music. I do want to
apologize to all the small children. Uh and the feedback
we're getting on it right now is really there's no
other word for it. It was terrifying. It was absolutely terrifying.
Uh So, so way you think, thank you for that?
(02:36:42):
Uh yeah, and that was one thing when you talk
about that, because you know we still do. Yeah, there
we go, they're still talking.
Speaker 2 (02:36:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:36:49):
Just hand those out greg to the audience. Everybody's everybody
gets throw them at him.
Speaker 2 (02:36:54):
Yeah, right, there is there's that's again, there's sit there.
Now you'll have those. Yeah, look at that and yeah
and you can yeah, and.
Speaker 3 (02:37:02):
Now you can turn them around here, I'm gonna take
a picture of all that. You'll put your mask of
I'm gonna turn around.
Speaker 2 (02:37:07):
Oh this is good, this is good. So there there
they are in the box seats today. That is good.
A right over here, everybody turn around, everybody put them
on over here. Ah huh, look at that. Yeah, you
you did that.
Speaker 3 (02:37:19):
Picture over that bad music.
Speaker 2 (02:37:20):
You got something? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:37:22):
So all right, so Spee, I know we're working because
this this I mean, they're the they're the guinea pigs, right, yeah,
So we're just working you. We were actually you will
be the process of us finding out what works and
what does not work. So we're thinking about what you said.
We take we take random. There's ten people yep, okay,
(02:37:43):
ten of them, so we we randomly okay random, yeah,
and we will we will pull from the ten one
through ten. There will be random there number, and then
we'll pull out two names, right that will play each
other in this basketball game, right yep? And then the
winner will get to spend the wheel.
Speaker 2 (02:38:03):
Oh yeah, I like that.
Speaker 3 (02:38:05):
Yeah, I like that. I don't like it a little,
I like it a lot. So Adler, I want you
to because I know this you brought in the Yes,
sorry for all of you out there that you'll never
be you'll never be the same. Uh So, looking at this,
we're going to play the straight up where there's two
(02:38:25):
people shooting at the same time.
Speaker 5 (02:38:27):
Or do we want to give them thirty seconds each?
What do y'all want to do?
Speaker 2 (02:38:30):
So there's there's options.
Speaker 5 (02:38:31):
Yeah, I don't care.
Speaker 3 (02:38:32):
Do you think the two of them shooting side by
side could be more chaotic?
Speaker 2 (02:38:36):
It could be more Will it keeps score? Will it
keeps scoring with both of them?
Speaker 6 (02:38:41):
It'll keep score with both of them. Or they could
do it one at a time. That way they'll have
access to all the balls.
Speaker 2 (02:38:46):
What if I shoot it bounces off? Mind goes in there.
Other they get the point.
Speaker 5 (02:38:51):
That if it bounce it counts.
Speaker 2 (02:38:53):
Do you say that I feel you leaning toward one
at a time.
Speaker 5 (02:38:58):
I kind of do. But know what's whatever?
Speaker 3 (02:39:01):
Great you I like the chaos of both at the
same time. But you made a good point. There's gonna
be fighting for the balls and everything.
Speaker 2 (02:39:11):
Yeah, which I like. I mean, may it mad be
a bonus, a bonus for us.
Speaker 3 (02:39:19):
Now, remember we're gonna draw these numbers randomly, so you
could those of you that are couples, it could be
husband against wife.
Speaker 6 (02:39:26):
It could be a husband against wife. But then they
get to take the prize home to their household.
Speaker 5 (02:39:30):
So that's nice.
Speaker 4 (02:39:31):
It is.
Speaker 5 (02:39:33):
It's called like the burgess bounce out, bounce off.
Speaker 3 (02:39:39):
I think we just played burgess ball. Now there's no
need to go you don't have to do all that. Yeah,
I mean, that's it. So what we're gonna do, then
we're gonna first of all, get our get our two
players battle is good burgess ball battle. Now I think
that I would would, y'all mind, I don't even have
(02:40:01):
a problem with trying it them together. And then if
we don't like it, then we can always at the
next months it comes in on Thursday.
Speaker 2 (02:40:09):
We could do it differently. You see.
Speaker 3 (02:40:12):
If we decide to do it again, sure, and if
it's just a total disaster, I mean we can scream
what we used to scream in our neighborhood do over.
Speaker 9 (02:40:21):
Over.
Speaker 3 (02:40:22):
Did you ever have that kid in the neighborhood he
which wanted to do a do over on everything?
Speaker 9 (02:40:28):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:40:28):
And I'm like, just because you struck out, you don't
call a do over, you don't get it?
Speaker 2 (02:40:32):
Would Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:40:33):
No, Greg never made it through any neighborhood games without
being sent inside by Mom. Yeah, I mean seriously, she
would open up the screen door and say you get
in here right now, and we'd lose Greg.
Speaker 2 (02:40:46):
Then the teams wouldn't be even.
Speaker 3 (02:40:49):
I used to get so mad, you'd pitch a fit.
Mom would get mad because you threw something down or
punch somebody and you threw a bat in the woods.
And then and then she'd come out, you.
Speaker 2 (02:41:00):
Get in here right now if you can't act you
any better.
Speaker 3 (02:41:02):
Than that, And then we watch you go inside and
shut the door, and now the team's run even.
Speaker 4 (02:41:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:41:07):
Yeah, he'd throw the ball in the woods before he left,
of course, so nobody could.
Speaker 3 (02:41:13):
Let me tell you what I never saw. I never
saw his batting helmet from baseball ever. Make it really no,
he'd sling that thing like a frisbee. If he struck out,
the bat would hit home plate, it would be thrown,
it would be thrown, and then his helmet would be
like a frisbee, right into the woods every single time.
And then Mom would say, if you can't play like that.
Speaker 2 (02:41:34):
No, you didn't.
Speaker 3 (02:41:35):
Let me tell you one thing. I can say for
a fact. You were not a fan of striking out.
I didn't like it, especially because you all smart off
about it. Well that's what normally caused it.
Speaker 9 (02:41:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:41:45):
Well, if I could come up to with just the
game on the line and tell you what was about
to happen, and then it happened, oh yes, And if
I could just come to the plate and his team
thinking they're gonna win with two men on up by
to guess what I guess I was about to have
a baby, brother.
Speaker 2 (02:42:03):
I'm about to go in the house, so you're gonna
come get me after all that?
Speaker 3 (02:42:08):
All right, So no, we're not we're not calling it that,
all right, So no, Greg, don't really need to read it.
You can just you can just you just enjoy it
for yourself.
Speaker 2 (02:42:19):
Get your classes, all right. All right, we come back.
Speaker 3 (02:42:21):
We're gonna random draw two people and let's just see
how it is for them to play each other at
the same time.
Speaker 2 (02:42:28):
All right, I'm curious.
Speaker 3 (02:42:29):
Just to say, let's just see how that goes. Yes,
we haven't done that with each other, don't believe. Well,
it's not there's there's not a lot of room. There's
not a lot of room over there.
Speaker 2 (02:42:38):
So we'll let them play, definitely, we'll let them play.
So you don't care. That's the game, stupid.
Speaker 3 (02:42:45):
Now, we need to establish a rule right now, okay,
because look we all have these we you know, if
you ever played on an air hockey that's a home
version or whatever. Yes, the censors are usually are supposed
to keep score correctly. Every now and then you score
and it doesn't put it on the board. I don't
know what we're gonna go with the number that is
(02:43:05):
on the board. Yes, okay, you can't start screaming one
of mine didn't count, right.
Speaker 6 (02:43:10):
If you make one too early a lot of times
it will not count it. If you make one too late,
it will definitely not count it.
Speaker 2 (02:43:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:43:15):
But the one lade saying you're out of toime, yeah,
it goes.
Speaker 6 (02:43:17):
I'm good with that, right, But doesn't work like a
shot clock where if you release it before it's you
got to have it in before the bus. So you know,
strategy wise, Burgis ball Battle or Burgess What is the
Burgess ball graft battle?
Speaker 2 (02:43:31):
Yeah, it's the Burgess ball Battle.
Speaker 4 (02:43:33):
Okay, all right?
Speaker 2 (02:43:34):
From the text? Who got more whippings?
Speaker 4 (02:43:37):
Gregor?
Speaker 17 (02:43:38):
Rick?
Speaker 3 (02:43:38):
Oh that was a push?
Speaker 4 (02:43:39):
It was a top.
Speaker 2 (02:43:40):
Yeah, it was a top. We used the calls by
the other. We both got a lot.
Speaker 3 (02:43:46):
You have to understand most times we got it at
the same time. All right, Well, we'll try the Burgess
ball Battle next.
Speaker 1 (02:43:53):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. A Voice of Reason
(02:44:18):

even have a discount. But then you realize that now
(02:45:10):
you could be part of the over two million people

Speaker 2 (02:45:21):

Speaker 2 (02:46:14):
Okay, so we just did a run to the bathroom.
We got a problem.
Speaker 3 (02:46:19):
Yeah, and I got back with one. Greg had the others.
And Greg's not back now he's not, which means we
can't play.
Speaker 1 (02:46:28):
Hello in the world.
Speaker 3 (02:46:30):
Does something happen?
Speaker 2 (02:46:31):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:46:32):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (02:46:32):
Does it smell weird in the lobby, Yes it does.
Did y'all notice there's a fan blowing all over the carpet.
Speaker 3 (02:46:38):
It's not I think somebody's carpet got wet in his mildewed.
Speaker 5 (02:46:41):
It does not smell good in the lobby.
Speaker 2 (02:46:43):
It smells.
Speaker 3 (02:46:43):
It smells so bad. People aren't even looking for sweet
two hundred right. Do you think Greg's like just in
the in the kitchen just see holding court. Hey, does
he realize we're back? Remember what I told you though?
Speaker 5 (02:46:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:46:55):
But you think?
Speaker 2 (02:46:56):
Do you think something happen?
Speaker 4 (02:46:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:46:58):
Let's see here, Zinc can anybody? I'm just I mean,
I hate I'm gonna leave you too. Yeah, go see
what's going on?
Speaker 3 (02:47:05):
I mean this the one guest I got back here,
no problem because Greg and I both went and Greg
had the others?
Speaker 2 (02:47:13):
Where are they?
Speaker 9 (02:47:16):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:47:16):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (02:47:17):
So much food?
Speaker 2 (02:47:18):
Where where is Greg? What in the world is he?
Speaker 5 (02:47:24):
Does he care?
Speaker 2 (02:47:27):
I don't know what's happened here?
Speaker 5 (02:47:29):
I do have a funny burgess ball story really quick.
While we're waiting for that to work itself out.
Speaker 3 (02:47:34):
Well, you realize if Greg can't remember how to get
back to the studio, we've got a big problem.
Speaker 2 (02:47:38):
Yes, okay, all right, So.
Speaker 5 (02:47:40):
So we've got this two lane basketball goal here in
the studio.
Speaker 2 (02:47:43):
Yes, and earlier he's outside.
Speaker 5 (02:47:48):
What goodness, Greg?
Speaker 2 (02:47:50):
Where are they?
Speaker 3 (02:47:53):
What they just having a conversation?
Speaker 2 (02:47:56):
Yeah? Were you waiting on her? Yeah? Mine speedy, speedy,
but yeah, I got I saw it. I saw try
not to focus on playing.
Speaker 3 (02:48:07):
Rock paper sits. So he's gonna knock on the door. Yeah,
So that there was one female with you. Yeah, she
she believed or not you didn't have to wait.
Speaker 2 (02:48:18):
They got lost in building. So ander you you I
saw you working on the basketball goes yes.
Speaker 6 (02:48:25):
Uh And so, like I said, we had a husband
and wife earlier that were facing off. They were playing
some two lane burgess ball and the husband got waxed
by the wife and he felt a little embarrassed, felt
a little bad. Much much later, much much later, we
discovered I've remembered, I actually crossed the wires on the
(02:48:46):
sensors so that we could shoot on the more easy
to access goal and it would still count our shots.
Speaker 5 (02:48:54):
So in reality, the husband did win, and he was
so happy to find that.
Speaker 2 (02:49:00):
It feels bad.
Speaker 5 (02:49:01):
He was so relieved.
Speaker 6 (02:49:02):
Okay, anyways, but I have fixed that, so now the
shots line up with the correct lane.
Speaker 2 (02:49:08):
See.
Speaker 3 (02:49:10):
I will say this my whole presentation Sunday. Just change Kyle,
because I thought you'd gotten waxed bad and you were
going to hear about that way. No way, all right,
So here we go. So we will first start.
Speaker 2 (02:49:26):
Have you have you wait? Mean I don't have the
wireless up yet? All right, go ahead, I go ahead.
Speaker 4 (02:49:31):
What do you do to play?
Speaker 2 (02:49:32):
Hit? Play?
Speaker 5 (02:49:34):
Nope, just push it once.
Speaker 1 (02:49:35):
Two three, all right, so oh wow.
Speaker 2 (02:49:40):
Yeah that really picks up. All right, we're good.
Speaker 5 (02:49:45):
Now you haven't pushed the button.
Speaker 3 (02:49:47):
Okay, all right there there, all right, So Speedy's doing
a trial run. Now are they did you switch the wires?
Are they now?
Speaker 5 (02:49:54):
Now they're back?
Speaker 4 (02:49:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (02:49:54):
If you want to play single player, you have to
shoot on the left goal. You have to shoot on
the left one speed. You'veen shooting on the wrong goal
that whole time.
Speaker 2 (02:50:00):
I'm not left handed either, all right, I just want
to see.
Speaker 3 (02:50:02):
If all right, So, so Speedy, what have you got
the random numbers? And we have a hanster this this
is the tuber hat. Oh that's the two.
Speaker 2 (02:50:13):
I'm gonna get clawed to pick me two numbers, all claw,
rich in there greg two numbers? There we go. Okay,
all right, here's one yep, number ten? All right, number ten.
Isabella Walker, you will be playing? All right, there it goes.
Speaker 5 (02:50:28):
We got the kids.
Speaker 3 (02:50:32):
Today, and she's going to be playing number four, number four, well,
claiming she had a victory, only to find out she
did not. Uh it is actually Leanna but China. So Leanna,
you will actually be playing against Isabella Walker.
Speaker 2 (02:50:48):
It's w n B A style.
Speaker 3 (02:50:51):
Yeah, so it's so what then Clark, whoever Clark? Yeah,
so whoever wins this? Huh, we'll get to spend the will,
right right, Okay, we have.
Speaker 2 (02:51:03):
Time now, Adler, you might need to come out here.
How do you do the how do you set up
dual players?
Speaker 9 (02:51:08):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (02:51:08):
Oh, it's as easy. The husband set it up. beIN
her husband set it up earlier.
Speaker 21 (02:51:12):
But I can.
Speaker 3 (02:51:14):
Leanna and now speedy, Just so you know, I've got
a minute and ten seconds.
Speaker 5 (02:51:20):
We don't have time.
Speaker 2 (02:51:21):
Well do we do?
Speaker 5 (02:51:21):
We're gonna do it.
Speaker 3 (02:51:22):
No, no, no, let's come back and do it. I
don't want to rush you. Yeah, yeah, that's it. We'll
come back to practice. You can practice. They'll go ahead
and practice.
Speaker 2 (02:51:34):
And uh and so little. I think Leanna beat called
straight up.
Speaker 5 (02:51:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:51:38):
Uh, she's elbow really now she really wants to spend
that will. Yeah, okay, this is good practice. It's a practice.
Speaker 5 (02:51:47):
It's gonna be real good.
Speaker 2 (02:51:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:51:49):
Huh. It's a Bellis family. They're gonna have to talk
to her on the way home about how this lady
was mean to her in the golden Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:51:55):
It's a no win for the adult woman. But that's fine.
Speaker 2 (02:51:57):
No, no, tell you jold woman. She's Greg. We could
have been doing this right, Yeah, so trying. I wasn't
gonna leave somebody. I'm sorry.
Speaker 5 (02:52:06):
You could have counted for something, Greg, This could have counted.
Speaker 2 (02:52:09):
We weren't looking at dear. You should have seen me
when I got and they were looking at deer. People
were looking at deer pictures. I saw this one moving. Hey, wait,
wait till I tell you what I thought happened. I
know it'll be in the post show. We thought Tom
could get out of the bathroom. The only one that
thought she had already been through asked him. He thinks,
he gives. I'm betting that she's already backing, right, I
(02:52:29):
don't think. Yeah, yeah, I know.
Speaker 3 (02:52:31):
I came out of the bathroom because I had to
get back first.
Speaker 2 (02:52:33):
She was already ready.
Speaker 5 (02:52:35):
Hey, Greg, again, why did you miss her walking by?
Speaker 3 (02:52:40):
She was going before I came out of the bathroom,
which is almost impossible with the women.
Speaker 2 (02:52:46):
Yeah, we come back. We got our two.
Speaker 3 (02:52:50):
It'll be Leanna taking on Isabella. The winner gets to
spin the wheel of uh bundles, bits and bucks.
Speaker 1 (02:52:59):
Next, this is the Rick Burgess show Blood casting from
the World the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (02:53:17):
Well, let's come down to this, the first group to
come into the new, newly designed studio here in the
Vox seats. And you know we've already I mean, this
show is only in week five and we've already given
away plus of three thousand dollars on the wheel of
(02:53:38):
Bundel's Bits and Bucks. Now we have two ladies out
of the audience that will now compete. This was a
random drawing for them to compete in Burgess Ball, and
it is the Burgess Ball Battle.
Speaker 2 (02:53:51):
No cousing for those of you. They cannot go right elbows,
that's right.
Speaker 3 (02:53:57):
And for us, Isabella Walker will be taking on Leanna
but China. By the way, Leanna, someone says, your former
one of your I Guess roommates at Auburn says she's
she's pulling for you, and she says she was really
excited about your victory until she saw how cute Isabella was.
And uh now she feels she feels a bit guilty.
(02:54:19):
All right, So, so so here we are. So they're
gonna have thirty seconds, is that right? Yeah, and they
just make as many baskets as they can, right, okay,
So and whoever that's good. Whoever, whoever wins this will
now take a spin on the wheel. Okay here, okay,
(02:54:39):
all right, do that.
Speaker 2 (02:54:41):
So there's two.
Speaker 3 (02:54:41):
Basketball goes for those of you at home who haven't
seen this yet, and they can they get.
Speaker 2 (02:54:47):
And the alright, here we go two to two. A
there is, she's so cute. There a four to two.
It's tied up. This is gonna be like six and eight.
It's about come on, it's about.
Speaker 5 (02:55:06):
Close, jail.
Speaker 4 (02:55:08):
It's ten to.
Speaker 7 (02:55:08):
Time, twelve to ten seconds.
Speaker 3 (02:55:11):
Second it's three point he bus A kid isn't about
to say lay sixty.
Speaker 5 (02:55:17):
O my god, wow three.
Speaker 2 (02:55:35):
Wow, wow, nick and nag.
Speaker 8 (02:55:37):
That was the neck.
Speaker 2 (02:55:38):
Was a great game, lady y.
Speaker 3 (02:55:41):
But now here comes that wheel, the bondos bits and
box can here's a mountain, get some cash off the wheel.
Speaker 5 (02:55:51):
Be right that money and month and money.
Speaker 1 (02:55:58):
Money, money my name?
Speaker 2 (02:56:00):
All right? So Isabella, you want it fair and square?
Speaker 14 (02:56:03):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:56:03):
It's those on burgess ball.
Speaker 3 (02:56:05):
When it gets down to ten seconds, then every shot
becomes three points.
Speaker 1 (02:56:09):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:56:10):
And Isabella was needed a three pointer to win it,
and hit a three pointer at the buzzers.
Speaker 2 (02:56:16):
He's not bragging, that's just what not bragging. That's just
what happened? All right?
Speaker 3 (02:56:20):
So what's what you have here, Isabella? Is on this
wheel you have various things. There's bundles that means you
could win merchandise from the store at eric burgesshow dot com.
You could land on something that is a bit. That
means that some of these things equal comedy bits that
we have to do on com I mean just instantly, okay,
(02:56:41):
that will be entertaining, but let's be honest, you'll be
able to disappoint it. Okay, So so and and then
and then there is the.
Speaker 2 (02:56:49):
There's the money.
Speaker 3 (02:56:50):
There's that money, money my name, there is the money.
Speaker 2 (02:56:53):
So you this is what you say, it's will to me?
And then no, you don't cuss.
Speaker 3 (02:57:02):
Sorry, sorry, we never promote cussing, even though even though
that this is the I want to tell you, Isabelle.
I had a meeting with these guys back in December
down at the farm where I discussed all this and
they completely ignored me, for they still use language and things. Yes,
So so anyway, so say out loud it's will to me,
(02:57:24):
and then spend. Okay, it's will to me, spend okay,
all right, so all right, so you but but I'm
gonna have to hear it's will to me. Okay, so
really all right, whenever you're ready, there you go. Now,
now give it a spin.
Speaker 21 (02:57:40):
There you go.
Speaker 10 (02:57:47):
Go, Okay, okay, here we go. Wow, can you spot
(02:58:17):

Speaker 3 (02:58:25):
The county is calling on the hot all right? You
come around here to this this right here?
Speaker 2 (02:58:30):
Oh my gracious wow.
Speaker 1 (02:58:33):
Money money, money, money, So.
Speaker 3 (02:58:35):
It's a bottle walker just spun, my goodness, one thousand
dollars on the first time to visit in the vox seats.
She wins Burgess Ball fair and square with a last
minute three pointer, goes over to the wheel and gives
it a spin. Is a better where you're from?
Speaker 2 (02:58:54):
Silicaga? Silicaga? How about that? How old are you?
Speaker 21 (02:58:58):
Thirteen?
Speaker 3 (02:58:59):
Thirteen?
Speaker 2 (02:58:59):
Wow?
Speaker 5 (02:59:00):
We should have gotten that at the beginning all this.
But yeah, that's amazing, it really is.
Speaker 3 (02:59:05):
Isabelle, are you familiar with a little form called the
ten ninety nine? I think to claim you'll become familiar
with it. So so anyway, no, this is about a year, though,
I don't worry. Yeah, we're at the first of the year.
You forget it, and you know what, we'll send it
(02:59:25):
to you not our responsibility whether you keep up with it, right, So,
so anyway, that that's a wow, that's good.
Speaker 5 (02:59:33):
I mean it really is.
Speaker 3 (02:59:34):
So have you ever even been near a thousand dollars?
Speaker 2 (02:59:38):

Speaker 3 (02:59:41):

authoritative person over there that may may help you with that.
Is there anything if let's say that that the mom
just turned you loose and you can do whatever you
want to.
Speaker 2 (03:00:08):
Do with it, what would you do with it? I
don't know.
Speaker 17 (03:00:10):

Speaker 3 (03:00:49):
Your mom said that her what she wanted to do
by coming here was been the wheel.
Speaker 2 (03:00:55):
Really, how about that? Is that what you were like
looking forward to?
Speaker 3 (03:00:58):
Yes, we'll say no, wow, now you may get a
like I say, you're probably gonna be contacted by a guy.
He's gonna say he's an accountant.
Speaker 21 (03:01:08):
Rick.
Speaker 3 (03:01:09):
It's gonna be fine, though, Look you wanted French Square.
I'll have to pay the price for this. Do you
feel bad for the people that were coming Thursday? Because
they probably won't get to spite I will see there
will be one less thousand dollars options. Now this is great.
(03:01:30):

looked better when the pressure was on that she did
even in warms. So uh so had you ever played
much basketball?
Speaker 4 (03:01:51):
Not really?
Speaker 2 (03:01:52):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:01:52):
Wow, that was a sweet three.
Speaker 2 (03:01:54):
Pointer right there at the end.
Speaker 3 (03:01:55):
Yeah, when you saw it go through, did you know
that you had won? On that?
Speaker 2 (03:01:59):
I was just hoping that happen. See Leanna you said, Look,
she's so happy for it too, you know. And you
didn't let her win. You played really hard. You tried
to win. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:02:09):
Yeah, because you had to face kylef you didn't. But yeah,
all right, Well, congratulations to you. You are forever and
Rick Burgess show history as the first person to ever
win the Burgess Ball battle and spend one thousand dollars
on the wheel first.
Speaker 2 (03:02:27):
You'll forever be extra in history.
Speaker 3 (03:02:30):
If we if we are allowed to do this for
a while, and we do trivia one day, who was
the first person to ever sit in the box seats,
win Burgess Ball and get a thousand dollars on the wheel,
It will be Isabella.
Speaker 2 (03:02:43):
That's great at that smile.
Speaker 3 (03:02:45):
Congratulation to try to silicog up. Yeah, Abella Baller. Yeah,
she had to earn it, she did. Yeah, she took
her shot one thousand dollars. Man, mister speedy, need some information.
Speaker 2 (03:03:02):
Yeah, you went to dancing again. Are you okay? I'm fine,
you lost all control. I'm perfectly fine. We'll be back.
Speaker 1 (03:03:12):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Sure you played a
little ball, Rick Burches.
Speaker 3 (03:03:35):
Well, let's say hello to everybody else in the big
Box Seats today. The Box Seats are inhabited by Caleb
and Caitlyn Walker, and they just celebrated big with their daughter, Isabella,
who just won one thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (03:03:49):
On the wheel Bundles Bits and Bucks.
Speaker 3 (03:03:54):
And I'm hearing that, Caitlyn, you were here when you
were pregnant with her and wants the Rick and Bubba's show.
Speaker 2 (03:04:02):
Yeah, I think in a couple like two days after
they were here, she was delivered.
Speaker 3 (03:04:07):
How about that?
Speaker 2 (03:04:07):
Look now? So was that back broadcast? Classic?
Speaker 21 (03:04:10):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (03:04:11):
Wow wow?
Speaker 3 (03:04:12):
And now she's birthed basically a thousand dollars and so also,
so there you go. Emily Parker is here today. Where's
right there? She's one of Greg's minions. You've heard from
Leanna Abouchina who she had her shot yep and uh
and got being on a three pointer Kyle her husband. Here,
(03:04:35):
we've got Tom Lower, Patricia Lower where they at?
Speaker 4 (03:04:39):
Right there?
Speaker 2 (03:04:39):
They are?
Speaker 11 (03:04:40):
You?
Speaker 3 (03:04:40):
We got to see Tom again and Patricia she's back
in the loop. Now for a little wi Cody Williams,
there's Cody Donna downs there, there she is, and Donna
calls Greg to snopback and already missed the show. And
then one thousand dollars richer.
Speaker 2 (03:04:57):
The leader.
Speaker 3 (03:05:00):
So let me tell you what if that doesn't hype,
come into the box seats, I don't know what's right.
If that doesn't get it done, I don't know what else.
Speaker 2 (03:05:06):
These are such good people too, they're so happy.
Speaker 3 (03:05:08):
For Yeah, well they are, yeah, you know, and the
good news is, like I say, we Leanna goes to
church with with the cherry and me. She's in our class.
Speaker 2 (03:05:22):
So you know, we'll work to it.
Speaker 3 (03:05:26):
And we'll talk about your heart where it is, you know,
and how you can literally be happy for others.
Speaker 11 (03:05:33):
You know that.
Speaker 2 (03:05:33):
But who knows how to spend want to win? Yeah,
that's true. Yeah, you might have got Beth Mowens one
click away.
Speaker 3 (03:05:39):
Yeah, you're talking about you're talking about automatic Isabella was
one click for y'all. Hear from Beth Mowens one click Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:05:51):
Another reason.
Speaker 3 (03:05:51):
I don't know that you did this on purpose, but
the fact that we have one thousand dollars right next
to Beth Mowens.
Speaker 2 (03:05:57):
Yeah, that's a well, that's a good place. That's a
really that's a win or lose, right, So h for sure.
Speaker 3 (03:06:08):
And their looking speaking of basketball, looking at number seven
here today. So you talked yesterday about this trade that
the Mavericks did and and basically they've traded away their
best player.
Speaker 5 (03:06:21):
Yeah, and he's a superstar in the league, top three
player in the league.
Speaker 3 (03:06:26):
Is it interesting how he gets this tone with us
we talk about Yah, Yeah, because he's like, I'm the
NBA guy, y'all are not. Yes, Uh, there's probably some
truth to that, but there's no need for the tone.
Speaker 2 (03:06:37):
Yeah, all right.
Speaker 3 (03:06:38):
So we have fans they're very very upset about this. Yeah,
in the video, so here they are they discussing the trade.
Speaker 6 (03:06:46):
Yeah, and one guard's really way way more upset than
he should be. But Dallas fans are Dallas fans are
Lavid Why we traded.
Speaker 2 (03:06:53):
The best player, the Pretechisse player, How we traded the
Prattise players. He's supposed to have a statue, Ya gotta
stat you like that supposed to be Luca right there.
Speaker 5 (03:07:02):
Well, we don't got to stat it.
Speaker 2 (03:07:03):
For Luca because we got blue mass management.
Speaker 5 (03:07:06):
Oh maybe I could not kill myself, you know.
Speaker 2 (03:07:10):
Oh no, that is a matter of a thousand boys.
Is that what he says?
Speaker 5 (03:07:20):
What that guy said?
Speaker 2 (03:07:27):
A big fan? Short little guy?
Speaker 3 (03:07:29):
Badgers went on then stinking Badges?
Speaker 2 (03:07:33):
Is it man that I have no idea who we're
talking about. Yeah, I don't need it. I don't know this.
Or just told me it was a big Yeah, yesterday
it was about it.
Speaker 5 (03:07:39):
It was a big it was a big deal.
Speaker 2 (03:07:41):
Yeah, I got at last guy. That must be a
really big deal.
Speaker 1 (03:07:44):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (03:07:45):
Also, we mentioned the Grammys yesterday and you have put
Janelle Monet here.
Speaker 9 (03:07:51):
Yes, I didn't.
Speaker 5 (03:07:52):
I didn't see this. It must have been later in
the program. I went to sleep at around eight forty five.
Speaker 21 (03:07:57):
Sure.
Speaker 5 (03:07:58):
Uh And evidently Elbourne A did a Michael Jackson tune.
Speaker 3 (03:08:03):
Don't stop to you get enough, don't stop to Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:08:06):
But but who is this person who's now she's that
uh woman, it's.
Speaker 6 (03:08:10):
That it's down short black girl that's been dressing like
the monopoly man for some reason for like five years
and then she suddenly gave it up.
Speaker 2 (03:08:18):
But now, yeah, that's why described Wow, she directs.
Speaker 5 (03:08:23):
Lots of backing vocals. Yes, okay, she got the I
mean she's she's got the moves pretty good, does she?
Speaker 2 (03:08:33):
What moves are you talking about?
Speaker 5 (03:08:35):
You tell me, you guys are the experts.
Speaker 3 (03:08:37):
No, I don't think she has it at all.
Speaker 5 (03:08:39):
Okay, okay, Well.
Speaker 2 (03:08:42):
She's just kind of march. She's smooth. Yeah, she's smoothly,
she's not Michael smooth.
Speaker 5 (03:08:51):
Now she's gonna walk right here?
Speaker 3 (03:08:55):
Okay, okay, all right, Yeah I can. I can more
than like once or strangely, I can moon walk forward.
Speaker 2 (03:09:05):
Really yeah. It's like the worm or the centipedece. I
can't go backwards. I can only go No, no, I can't.
Speaker 3 (03:09:11):
I slide the feet and I'm moving forward like a slide.
Speaker 5 (03:09:14):
That's just walking. I think that's just walking.
Speaker 3 (03:09:16):
No, no, no, no, it's it's a different kind of walk.
Speaker 2 (03:09:19):
It's a slide.
Speaker 5 (03:09:19):
I'm afraid I'm gonna have to see that to believe.
Speaker 2 (03:09:22):
Well, I mean, I can do it with your ankles, buddy, it's.
Speaker 5 (03:09:26):
Been a big day for you. You took your shirt off,
you put on some.
Speaker 3 (03:09:30):
Take my shirt off shirt.
Speaker 2 (03:09:32):
She danced off. I think you lost control. I think
you blacked out.
Speaker 3 (03:09:37):
I was happy for Isabelle.
Speaker 2 (03:09:40):
No, don't be so discussed. I can moon walk if
I have the right shoes on the right surface. In
my socks. Terry shows out I can do it in
my socks on the gym floor. Yeah, I'll I'll buy it.
See it. Can you do it on a treadmill?
Speaker 5 (03:09:56):
I have to go slow like a person that's not
like mentally all there to do it.
Speaker 9 (03:10:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:10:02):
You know, you could have just said you have to
do it slow. I started talking. All you got to
say is I have to do it really slow. That's it,
and we got it, had two minutes left. It's so close.
Speaker 3 (03:10:19):
Yeah, but no, Here's what I would say about the performance.
Speaker 2 (03:10:21):
I just saw it.
Speaker 3 (03:10:22):
I bet the audience agrees and all of you out
there that could see it on the tube, is, if
you're gonna do Michael Jackson, and I've seen some people
who are great impersonators, you really have to dance at
an extremely high level. And she basically, in my opinion,
did about a C. Yeah, C minus C plus, which
(03:10:43):
maybe C plus Michael. But if you're gonna do Michael,
and she can do it better than I can. But
what I'm saying, if you're gonna do Michael because I
didn't see her forward won't. But if you, if you now,
if you're gonna do Michael.
Speaker 2 (03:10:56):
Don't forget Rick's running man. Yeah, and I had to
tied to that. I'd like, I'd like you get your
sock feet on and stand on this counter and with
sock feet on the on the count, that would be
like a basketball court.
Speaker 5 (03:11:10):
You got two minutes, great, you got time, get on.
Speaker 2 (03:11:13):
Up there, off. I want you to know, just right there,
I can't Rick thinking about it.
Speaker 3 (03:11:18):
I'm just trying to front run right surface.
Speaker 2 (03:11:21):
I'd like for you to walk right the moon walk
right there, buddy, I can't. Yeah, on the carpet, it's
really hard.
Speaker 3 (03:11:26):
On the time, add said, it's got to be really slow.
Speaker 2 (03:11:31):
Like he's.
Speaker 3 (03:11:36):
No, it's got me right, but yeah, it's uh but
I can't.
Speaker 5 (03:11:41):
Carpet.
Speaker 4 (03:11:42):
It's hard.
Speaker 2 (03:11:45):
That's just too much any of y'all. Yeah, Okay, here
we go.
Speaker 5 (03:11:49):
I'm not gonna do it.
Speaker 8 (03:11:50):
I really can't do it.
Speaker 2 (03:11:51):
I really can't do it.
Speaker 11 (03:11:51):
But if I'm right, is it.
Speaker 5 (03:11:53):
You have to go Okay, all right, so's one is
up and then push and the flat one has to move, yeah,
