letting us all know that you're ready to go for
another Rick Burgess show. Greg's let's ask Greg the question
(02:27):
that's been all our on all of our minds. Is
Riley Green on the show today? As of now, Riley
will be here at eight thirtieth Central. Now I told
you guys exactly be here. He'll be on the phone.
He's touring right now. Yeah, let's gonna have a bunch
of chicks out in the parking.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Like, yeah, more chicks than usual, right right.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Right? Okay? So uh yeah, yeah, let's tell you we
draw him, don't we. Yeah? So so Rileigh Green coming
up later. Greg has for some reason taking on Ridley
Green and wanted anybody near him. I know you are,
Thank you, Greg. Uh It is funny though to hear
Greg in a little bit of Speedy's Handler world. Oh yeah,
(03:12):
because people will call, oh, no matter when we go
to bed, it doesn't matter, which is fine because most
people don't go to bed. Then that nobody's fault. It
ain't like it was midnight. It happened last night. And
I even looked at Sherry and I said, been doing
this a long time. Of course, now for for Adler
and me, unlike Speedy and Greg on the news show,
Adler and I are word an hour early. But y'all
(03:34):
been doing this forever, but we have it. So the
two of us have had to make a little bit
of an adjustment on going to bed a little earlier.
Of course, Sped. Of course, Adler's got small kids, so
he's still at the mercy of his family. But they understand.
Now Ezra and Ruby really understood understanding. Leddy gets up
early and helpful. Yeah, but last night I was like
(03:55):
strolling onto the bed and Sherry was doing something. She
was like, what are you doing? I said, I'm going
to bed and she goes what I said, baby, I've
been what? Yeah, do you know what time it is?
And she, of course she didn't. I said, it's almost
eight o'clock. And she goes, oh, because she knew you
looked outside. She was kind of like, what you still changes?
Speaker 6 (04:16):
Terry will catch herself saying that about what are you
going to bed early? And then then she stopped. She goes, well, actually,
not if you go to bed right now, you get six.
And I even entertained something last night, and I got
to tell you my adult self stepped in, uh, and
not my rookie self, because it would have been a
rookie mistake to go do what I was thinking about doing.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Caught yourself.
Speaker 6 (04:37):
Oh yeah, And JC is having fun with his buddies
in this adult you know, people get at these teams
and they get in these adult softball leagues, of course,
and a lot of his friends created a team and
he's on it, and Tyler was on it when he
could play. Of course Reese can't because he's up the hunstable.
But anyway, they were. They had a game last night
that started at eight thirty, excuse me, and then if
(04:57):
they won, they played in the championship at now and
talking about our kids and even though he's twenty three,
he still didn't get it.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
He said, he said Hey, y'all coming tonight, you know.
And I'm like, I don't think I am. Oh, oh
that's right.
Speaker 6 (05:15):
Yeah, you get up at three, right, dad?
Speaker 1 (05:17):
Yeah, I do.
Speaker 6 (05:18):
So if I go to a game at eight thirty
to nine thirty and then twenty minutes home, I mean
I start doing the math, and then if I'm there
for the for the for the semi, and then you
get to the final and so anyway, I was like, no,
I'm not doing that. Well, I wake up to a
ten thirty pm text about how things are wrapping up.
It's a rain delay and all this kind of stuff.
So I'm like, so I would have been out till
ten thirty. Oh yeah, and then then you get home
(05:40):
and then wind down. Now you're seeing sticks.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
No, I'm not doing that. Let me tell you. We
all live in fear of sticks. Oh I to if
you see sticks, if you see sticks.
Speaker 6 (05:50):
Yeah, but no, my old rookie self was actually entertaining it,
and Terry's like, what's your decision.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
I'm like, now I need you to step in and
say tell me about idea. Yeah. It's one thing to
say I don't want to miss his first T ball game,
as opposed to it. Yeah, I'm going to miss his
adult softball league.
Speaker 4 (06:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (06:06):
Yeah, Now I will tell you this. If you want
comedy relief, you go because it's more common. Oh, they're
having so much fun. I remember back when I was
young enough to participate in those kinds of things. Yeah,
and it was fun if I recall. But but but
the whole thing. You're right, like you just I thought
about when his game.
Speaker 1 (06:25):
Started started, how asleep already was see you know, I
mean Chris, I w wasn't talking to Rody Green's handler,
so I was asleep. I was gone.
Speaker 6 (06:34):
But it has Greg told you about what it went
through his mind when he heard the dingy thirty. He thought, no,
he said, do I check my phone?
Speaker 1 (06:42):
I'm so tired. I was almost yeah, Oh yeah, you check.
You're doing that in and out almost. I missed the
one the night before at six thirty. I have no
excuse for that, right that that one was still haunt
you in it?
Speaker 4 (06:53):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yeah, I don't know what happened. I checked out. Yeah,
so I'm not that locked in my phone, but I
should be a little better than How about farmers or texting?
Farmers are texting right now and they say, you know
and true and we've look, we've always said that, especially
now we know we're not the only ones. Oh yeah, yeah,
and so yeah, and there's some of all that really
work really really hard to have like real jobs and
(07:15):
stuff like that and still have the same hours we do.
But they said, now y'all know how farmers feel. They're
constantly looking. Of course, the good thing about farmers this
is the only time. And I know you guys work
even harder because I'm doing old men workouts. But on
the days that I do a little bit better, I
sleep so hard. And see, y'all are like that every
day because you've worked real hard all day. Y'all don't
(07:36):
have any problem going to sleep. Oh no, come dark time,
you know it's over. If you've exerted yourself physically and
you and you get up when we do, you'll go
on to bed.
Speaker 7 (07:44):
Yeah, and get in bed, and you go to bed,
and good, you have a good sleep. You sleep hard, yes,
yes hard, you sleep hardy. Somebody wants to know what
seeing sticks is. That's eleven eleven.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
We call that seeing sticks. You know, there's two sticks.
There's eleven. And the thing about the time we get
up when you see eleven, there's no way to make
it positive. You can't spin it positive. You know, I'll do.
I'll go as far to try to, just so you'll know.
If I see sticks, which is eleven PM or beyond,
I'll go ahead and I and I'll and I'll propel
(08:16):
myself beyond that work day to the that night. So
that night I did the same. You have to shoot pat. Yeah,
I don't be behind here, but I'm gonna get right back. Yeah,
so if I can just get conscious for the show
after that. Now, when you get multiple days in a
row like that, that's when it's bad. And then and
(08:38):
then you'll try to overcompensate with coffee, and you'll overcompensate
and something your heart rate gets up like and then
you start doing that regret. It's like back in the
days before Jesus, when you realize, okay, that was one
too many. I should have left on. Yeah, I should
have quit one morning. I'm on this roller coaster and
now I'd like to get off, but I don't think
they shut it down. I can just hit another gear.
(08:59):
I got a whirl of wheel looking around, watch out.
I wish I could have that one back. I got
a good idea. My second land.
Speaker 5 (09:10):
Right, I'm on a whirl of wheel and a roller
coaster at the same time.
Speaker 1 (09:15):
I remember Greg, Greg, Greg was the first one to
comment on this, And for me, it wasn't when I
got louder, it's when I got quiet. Yeah. If I
went quiet, look out were sliding down the stairs on
the stomach.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
There you go.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
You silid means I realized, oh yeah, you know, I remember.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
I remember when you tried to pull the ears off
my head. You were a long time ago, You're very
long time and suddenly had holding my ears.
Speaker 1 (09:46):
And it's a long time ago. Now I think I
almost came out of my head. Something about those ears
bothered me. You guys have known each other for a
long time. That's a long time ago. A long time ago.
I was right on the edge of redemption right there.
So we got a world that's gone fully digital. We
know this, but there's just something special. Uh. You know

got a brand new episode coming up this weekend, Adler
and I got that recorded yesterday. Adler's getting it ready
(12:19):
to be out this weekend wherever you get podcasts, Episode
ten of Strange Encounters, and this one is going to
feature letters from you people who have sent in strange
encounters in their own lives from in the supernatural realm
of angels and demons, and we unpack that we jump
(12:43):
into scripture as that's what we're gonna base it on
always and try to see we could shed some light
on some of the things that have happened to people Adler.
Wow those stories, Wow, those stories. So catch those wherever
you get podcasts this weekend. It usually comes out on
Saturday morning something like that.
Speaker 5 (13:03):
So the cloud, rick the cloud?
Speaker 1 (13:04):
How about that cloud?
Speaker 6 (13:05):
What all I'm going to say is the cloudy the cloud?
Speaker 1 (13:10):
But you know what, that particular letter opened up a
discussion we needed to have, which we sare had a
minute ago. So so so so catch that and we
went back to scripture to show there's a warning. There's
a warning in scripture. So so catch that wherever you
get podcasts this weekend. So I'll talk more about it later,
(13:32):
but I kind of want to ask you this trivia question. Greg.
You know how speedy is to learn more about music.
So I asked you a trivia question. Okay, off text
nation from South Carolina. Well, the person lives in South Carolina.
It says right now there there must be a truck
driver right now because it says they're trucking, trucking through,
trucking through crime free Gary, Indiana. Got you loud and clear, guys.
(13:56):
So what what what is significant about Gary, Gary, Indiana
in the music?
Speaker 6 (14:01):
I think that in that the birth place of Michael Jackson.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Yes, and where they lived when when that's where there
it is on that's good? How about that? That's real good.
That's where Joe was screaming at him making him practice, right, Greg,
That's where he, like we said before, Joe was rough,
but he was successful at building a great team. So
so do I do I get to sit at the
table or am I still at the kid table? That
(14:25):
was impressive. It was I'd like to have been for
it to have been a little deeper and some maybe
some classic rock. But it was not bad. Yeah, okay,
that was not bad. Did somebody help you with that one?
Speaker 4 (14:34):
No?
Speaker 6 (14:34):
I remember for some reason, it just jumps out because
the Jackson's We've talked about him so many times in
the past with the Rick and Bubby show and everything,
and it just that one stuck.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
Well. As Greg put it, that that's the that's the town, city,
whatever you call it. I don't know how big Gary
is it. Is it a city, the town or whatever. Uh,
that's where Joe Jackson gave the world some You know,
one of the most talented groups and talented musical icons,
but at the same time traumatizing his children forever. Yeah. Uh,
(15:08):
it was a double edged short. So uh and and
really scarring Michael apparently.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
Do you guys remember the Jackson's and the Jackson's and
American story of the drama? Yes, I forgot about that
for some reason.
Speaker 5 (15:20):
I didn't know about it.
Speaker 3 (15:21):
But for some reason, the go to bed Joseph line
that's very famous from that movie came across my feed,
and so I learned about the Jackson's uh docu drama series, and.
Speaker 1 (15:35):
I've got that line right here.
Speaker 5 (15:36):
You guys have to see if you remember this.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
Oh yeah, you remember this. They have traveled all over
the world. They have millions of fans. What are you
going to do? Ask them to go.
Speaker 3 (15:47):
I'll get a swatch up a tree, bring it in
handsl you can beat him with it. Joseph, too bad, I.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Forgot Freddy boom boom Washington played Joe. Welcome back Connor,
Welcome back boom boom. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (16:09):
Yeah, too bad Joseph.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
Yeah. Well, and and really she makes a great point,
she really does.
Speaker 4 (16:17):
At this point.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
At this point, it's about you. At this point, you're
gonna put them on restriction, right, you know when you
when you're you're we got that kind of jack coming in.
Of course, who knows of every what he was doing
with but uh and but yeah, and and you've gone
all over the world and you're you're you're traveling, you're touring,
and and you daddy's mate at your back practice is
(16:39):
going to give you a sweet sure. Yeah so but
but as Greg said, he did produce a good product, boy,
he did, but he did scarce some people. Yeah, they
were they were tight, they had the dance moves, had
the vocals were they were good. They were good, and
you wish that the second part wasn't there. You know,
we all on we see these people, you know, because
you look at the other end of the spectrum and
(17:00):
it appears by all appearances. Now I don't know all
the details, but I've seen because he will do an
interview and he even was on the Rick and Bubba show,
and he was extremely open. And that's Donnie Osmond. He
seems to be kind of an open book. And I
don't see him talking about you know, he talks about
that they worked hard and that their dad, you know,
made sure everything was organized and all that, but they
(17:22):
don't seem to resent their dad. You know, it's dances
and it's not that serious what we're talking about. They
gotta be perfect. It seems like I don't remember I
either saw it on something, but their dad they got
in financial trouble and he refused to go bankrupt. He
said it wasn't right, and he worked his way back, yeah,
instead of taking the bankrupt way.
Speaker 4 (17:43):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
But you know the Osmond's, they they worked hard to
Oh yeah, they were huge.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
Big.
Speaker 1 (17:51):
Well, look if anytime and the Jackson's had this too,
anytime that you are in some sort of musical outfit
and you have a cartoon, Yeah, and then you end
up having a variety show and all that, I mean,
you're big. I mean it's speaking of variety shows. I
was I was watching something on YouTube or something. It
(18:12):
was talking about the worst television show ever. I forgot
the Brady Bunch had a variety show. Oh my gosh,
and Rick those clips I don't know we started.
Speaker 4 (18:23):
It was awful.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
There's a lot of bad don't forget. Jen went in
and they had of replacement Jan listen. There's a lot
of bad things with social media. A lot of bad
but whoever decided to use this technology to make sure
none of us forgot the Brady Bunch Variety Show. Thank
you these videos, so these dance numbers, some of these
musical numbers, and this thing about all the variety shows
(18:46):
are out there. You had a bunch. Yeah, we talked
about this before at one time. If you didn't have
a variety show, frankly, you wouldn't nothing. You didn't go
out and do some of the classic tunes and little dances.
Have you ever have you ever seen any the same person?
I'm sure have you ever seen all the Lawrence wilt
clip oh boy that they put out there? Lawrence welk
Oh you know what's Scott Garosse. You know he mentioned
that you remember being a kid and your parents would
(19:07):
make you watch Lawrence. Yeah, of course you think our
grandmother missed it? Yeah, you ever ever seen some of
the actual moments on that. It's been a while because
a lot of shows, so they had to bring out
a lot of stuff.
Speaker 3 (19:22):
And my dad said that his dad or his grandpa
called him Lawrence Welch all the time.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
Change.
Speaker 5 (19:31):
Lawrence Welch is on everybody, everybody.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
And what you ever seen the clips from Liberachi when
he would come, he would appear. I don't know if
he had his own show. I've seen clips him his
own shows where he's dancing with young people and they're
doing like some hip song, but it's liber Rochi doing it. No,
I don't know who all of you are. They're putting
that kind of stuff out, But I like those videos
are gold and I remember that Tom Jones had one.
(19:55):
Oh remember I remember it being even being a kid
looking at my parents saying, I don't think the this
man he is dressed appropriately. He's really dancing weird. And
by the way, we don't give him enough on how
good he can sing, Oh, Tom Jones, But his dancing
was almost like heating some sort of fit. And even
(20:17):
as a little boy, I thought his pants were too tight,
a little much. And I don't know how I would
even know that. Guys, I'm not right about it. We
we have other things to do today and a lot
to run down. But just before we leave the looking
(20:38):
back at various artists and the variety of shows of
the seventies. In the sixties and seventies, Tom Jones, we
mentioned him, which what kind of opens the door to
your you know, you know, the like you said, Greg,
the women's pet, a man's a man's regret. And there
he is with the dance, dance, dance, and even even
as a kid, that just didn't feel right. I knew
(21:01):
something was wrong.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
But do you think he ever suffered from whiplash?
Speaker 1 (21:05):
He had to well, his neck had to be just everything.
You know, it's worse and Greg to you know, yeah,
that's the one that I would turn around to go, mom,
it looks like a shake. Yeah. But did you ever
(21:25):
look back on those shows and used to see the
microphones they're using. I'm like, that's the best he got
those because it's surprisingly when in a lot of times
they did perform live, they would pull it off. But
those microphones were like they really couldn't even handle what
they were being asked to do. And that poor microphone,
I don't even know. There's not a short in that chord.
Speaker 5 (21:48):
But but there's a whole brass section behind him.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
It is cool and he can still sing, by the
way he can still sing. Have you ever seen sing
as an older guy?
Speaker 5 (21:57):
I don't want to hear a quick second?
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Well, yes, yeah, microphone like some of them recorder, Yeah, lad, whoa.
Speaker 5 (22:17):
Talking about?
Speaker 1 (22:18):
But but I want to ask the question his dance. Yeah,
please please look, don't get hurt. Don't get hurt. Don't
get hurt. All right. So I don't know what that was.
Speaker 5 (22:30):
You look like a bull about to run off or something.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
You know what, you don't I just did somebody ask
you to walk on hot cold?
Speaker 4 (22:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:36):
I was gonna with my neck, but then I shoulders.
What if this soon in the show? You tried to
do this for the show and then you hurt the
restaurant all week? Get a column? Yeah, so this this
is this is a question. You know you had this happen.
And this has kind of been a staple, a staple
in rock and roll, in an entertainment of your heart
(22:57):
throb type guys that are supposedly have some sort of
spell on the women. Okay, like Tom, there's a question
I've always wanted to ask. Okay, and I and and
I'll handle this with kid gloves. There is kind of
a legend, and we've seen it that sometimes women will
show their appreciation for the heart throb act by tossing
(23:20):
on the stage their underwear. I'll say it that way
pretty much to the point, well, at some reason underwear
doesn't sound as bad as panties. Yeah, see what I
mean underwear wouldlude would include any undergarment, whether it be
for something, you know, any part of the body. Nobody
(23:41):
we know what you ask My question has always been
did y'all bring that with you? Yeah? Was that predetermined?
Or did you remove it?
Speaker 3 (23:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (23:49):
Was it actually being worn? And did you show it
without the intention of doing that but end up doing so?
Caught up in it? Are you like you know, in
those days you could walk in probably with a bigger
purse than you can now. But I mean, did you
just bring some extra garments to throw or do you actually,
like you say, I'm so, I'm so enthralled in this situation,
(24:11):
I'm removing it and throwing uncontrollably, uncontrollably didn't plan on it,
didn't google it, Let me google it. That wouldn't that
wouldn't google. You're going home, you can let me take it. Oh,
I know, But I mean that's what I'm asking. But
what that The other one though? Now, when you're talking
about unless you've got a dress on, yeah, well yeah,
it's gonna be tough. Yeah, maybe some tear aways.
Speaker 5 (24:30):
You ever see that you ever see that pull pull
the the brazier from the you see them pull them
out of their sleeve before.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
Yeah, that is an amazing thing that women can do.
So that that's the reason why there is an option,
I think a legitimate option that it was something they
were actually wearing. But but I've always makes it. I
messed with stop it yeah yeah one second, yeah, yeah,
(25:06):
of course.
Speaker 5 (25:08):
He was so proud of himself.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
One Mississippi done. Watch out a follow up question. Sometimes
you get sup of the trouble. Yes, yeah, like he's
breaking into a safe.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
How did you learn how to do that? YouTube? YouTube index,
thumb done. Okay, So, so Detectation says, apparently there's people
somebody said, ask Riley Green, we will Yeah. By the way,
I saw he had to break up a chick fight
at one of his conscious I'm asking about that, of course.
But anyway, people say, if it's not game war and
(25:49):
it's not the same, okay, yeah, it's almost like you
you know, Jersey warning again more like Jersey.
Speaker 4 (25:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
So anyway, I don't know, that question is always on
my mind. I've new jerseys can be dirty. I've never
asked it before. For some reason, I've decided at the
age of sixty and twenty twenty five of glass. I
want to know, did you plan it? Were you just
so caught up in the concept the lady is getting
ready to say, noh, did that to be sure to
scratch some extra underwear? Yeah, we gotta throw it. We
got we're gonna be throwing the third song. We're throwing nowadays.
Speaker 6 (26:18):
If you try to do that, because you know you
have to bring these clear bags in it, checkpoint gives
it a well you got all your undergarments in there
that you're gonna throw.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Well and think about it. The pursas now are so
small for you're a big lad. You ain't got the room.
Oh no, I remember Rick, you may have been with me.
Double up, you may have been with me. He seems
a little uncomfortable. Hey, no, it's not bad. Okay, we're
in the grand stands at Tyle Digga. Oh and there was.
Now this is completely kind of the same subject, but
(26:45):
very different, at least infield. If you said infield about
this guy is a drunk guy who had a pair
of panties on his head with a three written on there,
a permanent marker. Any warm warm the entire race, what's
that message, what's the message? Had a big three with
a sharpie there in the crack.
Speaker 3 (27:06):
You know, I'm not encouraging this behavior or saying this
is good or anything, but Drake literally has Here's a
display of all the ones he's gotten, right, the Drake
the wrapper.
Speaker 1 (27:16):
Okay, gracious, he says them. He I guess he is.
He saves. Yeah, big ladies like Drake.
Speaker 4 (27:26):
I guess.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
From textonation out of out of Missouri. I went through
my pants that she and Twain was removed from the concert.
That's different. You don't never see guys.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Walk nobody's like.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
We got he smokes, d oh, sorry, you shouldn't thrown
those stidy whitings. I say, you hadn't bleached them? They
throw them. Yeah, They're just something different, isn't it. You know,
it's just that's that different male and female things.
Speaker 4 (28:07):
You know.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Females do something everybody thinks it's sexy. The males doing
is gross. Yeah, yeah, that's one of them. All right,
we'll be back. There's there's more to do today. Looks
like we're off to a roaring star.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
Tell boys and all this the live studio audience that's
heading our show today, don't you get any ideas.
Speaker 6 (28:25):
People, I'll be throwing things at us from the box.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
All they do here at us is throw donuts. Yeah,
we'll be back hanging in.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
They've defended their use and what they use for punishment
for their children, and they appear to be people that
seem to care about health. They exercise and all that,
but they make their children do squats and push ups
for punishment. Now, I've heard some people that are in
the physical world that handle you know that their trainers saying,
(29:07):
I know that it was popular for a while to
make exercise of punishment, but you really are kind of
making exercise now something negative as opposed to to Yeah.
But but but that's not the reason they're getting grief.
They're getting grief because because of our society they will
out there. But anyway, here is here's their Instagram post.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
We have that right.
Speaker 6 (29:29):
Yeah, it's a it's a footage video footage from inside
the home.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
You're gonna hear uh in a in the distance.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
The kid pop off at his mom after she tries
to correct him, and then the dad hears it from
the living room and confront him about it.
Speaker 1 (29:44):
It's like it was captured on a ring camera. But
I don't know why the family would would post this publicly.
You know, people gonna lose their minds, right, But but
here you go, saw, I said, okay, chill stop. Did
you just tell your moment, Jill? Mhm mm hmm. Hey,
(30:07):
now the kids, did you just tell you?
Speaker 4 (30:10):
Come here?
Speaker 1 (30:13):
Jack, sir, push ups, counting.
Speaker 6 (30:24):
His drawers, the daughters looking over the couch, at her
at her brother.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
By the way, his form is not great. No, keep going, No,
I can't do anymore. It's like Greg working out. I
can't do anymore.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
Right.
Speaker 1 (30:48):
Form is terrible. He's struggling now, he's struggling. He's struggling.
Speaker 3 (30:54):
Now.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
Anybody won't tell Jim to sail though any count nation
and squat. Oh we got to work in this form,
Yeah we do. He's out over his knees. Uh, he's not.
He's nine years old.
Speaker 6 (31:08):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, mm hmmm. And mom just mom just
continuing on.
Speaker 1 (31:15):
And well she ought to yep.
Speaker 4 (31:16):
Right.
Speaker 1 (31:21):
By the way, the dad, stepdad is a corrections officer
in prison. Is he really.
Speaker 4 (31:29):
The sun? Now?
Speaker 1 (31:33):
The daughters come over. The daughters sad, Dad, please come on.
The kids doing fine? He's not he's not injuring the kid.
The kid's not injured, he's not even crying.
Speaker 8 (31:46):
Chill out, absolutely, No, I have not let you talk
to me. Absolutely would I let anybody else talk to
me like that? So you don't get Yeah.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
Look, then he hugs him, ug it out, and he
tells him he loves him, and he apologizes to a mama.
Of course, our our look. He says, hey, I love
you too, to his to his step son. So I
don't see anything wrong with what I just saw. There's
a nine year old kid who disrespected his mother and
told his mother to chill the dad, and the husband says,
(32:22):
no one talks to her like that, not even you.
You're not going to disrespect your mom. And he makes
him do push ups and squats, tells him to apologize
to his mom. Ask him was that fun? No, it wasn't.
Tells him that he loves him and hugs him, and
people are giving him a hard time. Yeah, let me
tell you if they they've been cameras available and we
were growing up, y'all, y'all all pass out, Yeah, but
(32:44):
not the camera get knocked off the wall. The dad
is never out of control, done in anger. It was
great parenting.
Speaker 5 (32:53):
He patiently explained.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
What what was happening and why he was doing it
and how do we avoid this in the future.
Speaker 6 (33:00):
Right now while walking around his underwear, while.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
In his underwear, that's just dad stuff. I love the
fact that he's granted his But did he have his
box of briefs on?
Speaker 5 (33:08):
Yes, I didn't know that was coming.
Speaker 6 (33:10):
Are you okay with a box of brief rig LEAs
he's not white?
Speaker 4 (33:15):
Is so? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (33:16):
You're right. So anyway, I don't know why there's people
complaining about this. I would think based on everything that
we see.
Speaker 3 (33:25):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
I actually see this as a breath of fresh air
because I've been around parents that let their kids disrespect
the other parents. Uh, they don't do anything about it.
They treat their little kids like their little kings, uh,
and the whole world revolves around them, and they let
them grow up to be disrespecting of all authority. And
(33:46):
we've got parents that are trying to teach children to
respect authority and not be disrespectful to their parents, especially
their mother. And you know, defending his wife again to
the children, and we're against that. Yeah, And you know,
you can't have it both ways. You can't complain about
the state of society and then punish people who are
(34:07):
trying to parent in a way that maybe would resolve
some of that.
Speaker 6 (34:10):
Yeah, and he taught him two things. First, you don't
talk to your mom that way, right, And second, you
don't talk.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
To my wife that way, correct, you know.
Speaker 6 (34:16):
And then as a kid gets to nine, ten, eleven, twelve,
he's got to understand that the woman you're.
Speaker 1 (34:22):
Talking to is my wife.
Speaker 6 (34:23):
That's why you don't talk to my wife that was
That's correct.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
And the kid's not out in the heat. He would
be doing jumping jacks more on his own, you know
what I'm saying. He didn't ask the kid to do
anything that he wouldn't orm.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
Yeah, if that dad had made me do it, y'all
would have something to complain about. But that kid is
young and wiry. Fine, yes, we'll be right back, Okay.
So other things to discuss today. Pretty big meeting in Alaska. Yeah,
pretty big meeting in Alaska today. As far as news headlines,
(34:58):
Trump and putin today's the deck, Remember Zelenski, you know
a bit of a drama. Queen was kind of whining
a little bit, where this this is not going to
accomplish anything. If I'm not invited to be there, and
you know, but but Trump said, hang on their little fella,
hang on their little fellow. I'm paraphrasing. I'm just trying
(35:19):
to find out if Poutin's serious, if there's no need
to bring you into it until I get some kind
of read on Poutin, on whether he's gonna keep playing
games with us? Are he serious about some sort of
you know, peace negotiation? Right, So let me go investigate
the sincerity of Pootin. Right, And he says he'll know
it within what he.
Speaker 6 (35:37):
Said about two minutes. He said, he'll know it two minutes.
He said, he'll know if Putin is serious or not,
or if he's just playing around. And he said, he said,
if he's not serious, then he's going to stop the
meeting and get.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Up and walk. Now that's gonna happen after two minutes.
Speaker 6 (35:50):
Yeah, he said he because that's what he does. He negotiates.
He knows he how to read people. Adler, can you
still do your Pootin?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Oh no, you haven't done that lot along. I forgot
he used to get us.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
See, I used to get into it by saying, you know,
you know how you have to have a phrase to
like get into correct it was Rika there it is.
Speaker 1 (36:15):
Hey, yeah, I completely forgot about the machine gun. There,
you're getting there. You're getting there, You're getting there. Let's
sit down and talk.
Speaker 9 (36:31):
Are you serious?
Speaker 1 (36:33):
Okay? Two minutes? Is Trump? Gay?
Speaker 6 (36:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Cheer later from Minnesota? Oh wow, he was killed by
the way. By the way, have you noticed this? But
he has to do is for some reason has to
do this.
Speaker 5 (36:50):
Right on gleasedly But but.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
But to me, it makes it makes perfect sense that
Trump would say, hang on a minute, Droma, let me
go check and see if it's even if Putin's just
going to waste her time. Yeah, and so there today's day, right, Yeah,
today's the day. Hannity was there live last night. I
saw bet he was.
Speaker 6 (37:13):
But yeah, today's the day. And we'll see how it
plays out. But he said Trump said, there's there's gonna
be repercussions if.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
He wastes his time. So we'll see how that plays out.
Speaker 6 (37:21):
But he said he can read him, and well he will, uh,
he will get up and stop the meeting if if
Putin's playing around.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
When you deal with when you deal with these dictators,
we all know this. This is not new throughout history.
The biggest issue is they have to somehow feel like
that they won and save face somehow. You know, it
has to be that Putin feels like that he comes
(37:50):
off still looking good. If he doesn't, he's not gonna
do it. Yeah, I mean he'll let you know, more
people die before he'll let that happen. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (37:58):
And Trump also said that he was not going to
discuss land grab and and giving this up whatever.
Speaker 1 (38:04):
That's not that's not on the table today. Today.
Speaker 6 (38:06):
It's all about are you open to ending this war.
Speaker 1 (38:10):
So we're not going to end today with Trump coming
out saying winning again. I've got that he's going to
come away saying Okay, I think he's sincere. So now
let's get into the details. Yes, right, yes, yes, he's sincere.
He really, he really wants an end to this war.
And so now let's go to the next step. I
will say that Alaska is a long way to go
for something you can decide in two minutes. Yeah, that's
(38:33):
a long way.
Speaker 3 (38:34):
This could have been an this meeting, could have been
an email that thing, this you know, trip to Alaska
could have been a No.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
I want to look at this time. I want to
look into his I can't see him. Your hands, don't
taken his hands.
Speaker 6 (38:46):
I want to look into his eyes and say, Pudin
or your suits.
Speaker 1 (38:51):
I'm not even sure who that is. He's stuck on
Gilligan's eyes.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
If he's not. If he's not, I'm out of there.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
That's a little I don't even know what good, but
it's better. I don't know what. He had it a
little bit yesterday. I thought yesterday, I thought yesterday you
were there, you had it. So so anyway we will
see not here would want to be but uh so, yeah,
I'll uh, you will take my time like this. Now
(39:20):
he's a godfather. Now you're a mobster.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
Come on, trying to dial it.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
Dan also want to hear him. So we'll see. We'll
see how it goes. And if it only takes two minutes, uh, well,
we'll see. If Trump thinks that Putin is is serious?
Anybody here think Putin is serious?
Speaker 3 (39:36):
You got smelling Russia is Russia the lie. The lines
haven't changed in a while. But Russia can keep doing
what they're doing and hold the line much much longer
than Ukraine. Ukraine is hurting economically, numbers wise, recruitment wise, Uh,
Russia has been resilient. Their economy has really not been
(39:57):
hurt by this war. They're selling a lot of natural guy,
you know, selling selling oil, and and that's propping up
their economy, and so they can keep this going for
a long time. So Putin does have quite a bit
of a leverage coming into this thing. I do hope
that Trump can maybe use the old dollar or Russian
ruble whatever they use, uh, and some kind of economic
(40:18):
deal in which maybe the United States and Russia could
for the first time in many many decades, actually work together,
and then we can both be successful countries.
Speaker 5 (40:29):
That would be fantastic.
Speaker 3 (40:30):
I hope that's what happens and comes out of this,
and people, like Trump has said, people stop dying because
this is a horrible, atrocious, atrocious war.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
You take a shot at Trump just then trying to
do it.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
I shouldn't have done the voice, because what I was
talking about was pretty serious. I shouldn't have done the voice,
right then, Yes, right, I hope there's some art, some
deal and and and the war ends.
Speaker 6 (40:50):
Really coming in strong p meeting.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
Yes, by the way, people are saying that, just like Trump,
in two minutes, they've realized today you just don't have
Trump's voice. Yeah, yeah, yeah, like I said, well, yesterday,
I mean you were yesterday. You it was almost like
you were in the parking lot, was walked out. You
got to get there worse, but you got to get there. Yeah,
but you're good. I tell you what.
Speaker 5 (41:14):
Yeah, you need a phrase that gets you into it.
Speaker 3 (41:17):
You need what like what like uh Stormy Daniels or something,
some kind of phrase that gets you in the door.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
It's not.
Speaker 5 (41:32):
He doesn't. He can speak better.
Speaker 1 (41:33):
Than what you're speaking. Constipation the hours. Mister ed, thank
you for being with us. Riley Green with us next hour,
box seats fill up, next hour. We got uh yeah,
(41:56):
broadcasting from the real world. Burgess ball back don't coming
up a little bit later on as well, even it
real always here on the program with unscreen phone calls
coming this hour, unscreen phone calls coming this hour. It
has really rose to popularity, incredible heights today. And I
(42:19):
you know, I never know what to do when it
when it comes down to birthdays involving the women you
know in our families, you know, do they want their
age announced? Some don't care. The bottom line is this,
my wife was born on this day. Okay, and happy
birthday that I can say happy birthday, sweep peep. Now,
(42:42):
let me just say this. This is what I did,
And this is when you've been married a long time,
you'll finally get to this kind of just transparency.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
President.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
By the way, if you'll notice in this picture, if
you'll know, it's just just Greg, it was a it
was a wild time on vacation. It's the beat. So
he took that hat off.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:02):
Probably. If you'll notice here this is what I'm talking about.
Notice I don't have the prominent nipples. Sure he used
that on the picture. Uh you know that on the
iPhone you can take it and you can take things out.
That's how I see where the air brush Nipeah. Do
you see where they were? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (43:18):
I do see where they were.
Speaker 6 (43:20):
This has started her birthday shout out hair and I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (43:23):
Okay, well here here's the thing. This is when you
yeah in the sun. Hey hey please Greg, look, try
try so hard to put on put on as much
sunscreen as I could. Real hot there. You never get
on that. It's it's a rough sun there. Uh But anyway,
so shearon, I I just went transparent and I and
(43:46):
that it takes away the surprise a little bit, but
this is just this is just wisdom after this many
years of marriage. I walked into you know where the
room We're sure he was. I said, hey, baby, big
birthday tomorrow. I'm just gonna tell you straight up, I
want to, you know, do public post about how much
I love you and how much where I'm celebrating your birthday.
But what I'm not going to do is guess on
(44:06):
what pictures I post. So I'd like for you to
pick me out approve pictures, uh, and just send them,
send them to my phone. I may already have them,
doesn't matter. Send me pictures that I want post tomorrow,
and you text me going, why did you post that? Freelance?
And so there there, there they are. They're all approved.
(44:27):
Look at that beautiful pressure.
Speaker 5 (44:29):
You ever pick out her own card to Rick?
Speaker 1 (44:31):
My goodness, I actually did a good point. I actually didn't,
you know what? And I agree with her. It's very moving.
So uh so, anyway, she is just just so beautiful
and uh and just such a gift, you know, just
a little bit of moment is serious. And then I'll
get into something I did to try to be sharp,
a little moment of serious, but I mean this sincerely.
(44:53):
You know, there there's people that God bring into your
God brings into this world that have impact, and all
of us have been given the ability to have impact.
But I can say that on this wonderful day. This
may be more of an anniversary message, but it's the
day she was born, so I think it fits. And
I told her this and have already told her that,
(45:14):
I mean, on this day, God brought this person into
the world. And yes, she has impacted many, so she's
been a blessing to many, and continues to be a blessing.
But God put this person on the earth and used
her to literally save my life, to save my life,
and I will always be grateful for this day because
(45:35):
I celebrate her life because you know, I love the
impact that she's had on so many. Of course the
impact she's had on our children. But she came into
my life when I don't know why any woman would
and take on all the problems I had created, and
was used by God to bring me back into the church,
(45:55):
to bring me to the foot of Christ. And I
will always be thankful. It's it's it's it's a it
is a I think a literal saving of my life, Greg,
you can speak to it. I don't think if something
doesn't happen at that stage of my life, I don't
think i'd be here right now because I was on
a very accurate bad road. So thank you, baby, and
(46:18):
I'm so glad you were born. And I know many
others are as well. Now much lighter on a on
a on a on a note is you know, I'm
starting to get a little tech. Not just not just
hand in time out, you're going, You're getting in the
tech world too well. Listen. So I was looking at
his handies and I thought, when I do my post today,
(46:39):
I'm gonna try to be sharp. I think I'm gonna
go a little further. I've got to prove pictures. That
gave me some confidence. And I thought, you know, she
was named after the song by the Four Seasons Sherry.
Her daddy heard that song on the way to the
hospital and named her that she was gonna be named
something else. And so I thought, wait a minute, I've
noticed people post things now and it has music on it.
(47:01):
Do you think that's text? I was like, how do
you do that? And so I looked, I looked, and
when I went to make the post, it was saying, hey,
you want some music, bird? So I thought, so, I thought, well,
and then I thought, well, what songs are approved? Can
you really just search any song? What's the odds of
me being able to use Sherry by the four Seasons?
(47:22):
And you know what, I just put it in the
search and said, Shrey by the boom It popp right
up and they couldick click.
Speaker 5 (47:28):
And and so so and sti't make that sound. All
the sounds you made are not made by.
Speaker 1 (47:33):
So not only on my Instagram post, is there a
beautiful picture of my wife? It plays the song Sherry
when you click on it. Look out. So so how
about this?
Speaker 4 (47:43):
Look?
Speaker 1 (47:44):
How about this good news today? Catch this? I texted
my wife today was she woke up something little sweet
and personal. But then I also said, check my Instagram post.
I put music to us to it. He wanted listen
to this, listen to this.
Speaker 6 (47:59):
I know.
Speaker 1 (47:59):
I was so touched. Really it made me cry.
Speaker 6 (48:03):
Oh, you're off to a good start, buddy, don't mess
it up.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Because you have started off. This day is off and running.
Speaker 4 (48:10):
Now.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
If I can just get my if I can just
get my adult children not to mess this weekend up? Yeah,
come on, guys, everybody help daddy. Come on now, just
send her. Everybody. Everybody check in with your mama and
those of you that are coming to the house. Come
on now, let's be on time. Just don't do stupid things.
No stupid things as well. Is there and that or
(48:31):
you'll get there. I mean with little kids, you you
know you can pretty much. I know they can still
mess things up. But when your kids are all adults
and you're trying to get them all corralled and get
to something special for mama, Lord help.
Speaker 6 (48:46):
Yeah, Lord help you send everybody, hey, every by hand
of the business.
Speaker 3 (48:49):
My grandma turned ninety two just a couple of days ago,
and I took Ruby and Ezra out there to go
out to my parents place where she lives, to go
see my ninety two year old grandma. Jerry and Ezra
would not sign the card, just sign this.
Speaker 1 (49:02):
Scribble something them And.
Speaker 5 (49:06):
She's ninety two, buddy, you're two, she's ninety two.
Speaker 1 (49:09):
Long, buddy.
Speaker 5 (49:09):
I need you show some respect. I need you and
some scope.
Speaker 1 (49:13):
And you know the thing that I've tried to tell
my adult children, don't commit to outlandish timelines that you
can't make. Yeah, oh yeah, I think we can don't
do because when you say that, even if you say maybe,
they take it as the gospel. Yeah, don't commit to timelines.
You can't pull off right, you know, by a little
(49:34):
by little grace in there, put a little fudge in
you know. If you think you can get there by
five thirty, teller that you'll be there at six. Yeah,
don't commit five. Then when you show up early. Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (49:47):
And I've been telling my parents, I will come with
my kids to uh to y'all's house, hang out with everybody,
hang out with gam Gam as we call her, ninety
two year old Gramma Jerry.
Speaker 1 (49:56):
Wow, she's so cool. How about she's amazing.
Speaker 3 (50:00):
And but I've told my parents we might stay for
an hour maybe maybe the kid. It might be thirty minutes.
They're just we'll see how it goes. How many popsicles
do I bring with me? We'll determine that probably.
Speaker 1 (50:13):
Right, got a phraezer, don't mess up. But see what
I did. But see Gamgam. Now, if she ends up
with an hour and fifteen minutes, she's like, wow, I'm
in bonus. Yeah, how about gam Gam? So So anyway,
happy birthday, Happy birthday, love you, Happy birthday. You need
to get to the right like that. And I'm sorry
I keep telling everybody count or something. I'm sorry I
(50:35):
keep telling everybody your age when we go out, you know,
for dates and stuff, because I'm tired of everybody looking
at me like I'm creepy, because I seem to be
aging at a rate that you're not aging at. So,
by the way, I'm our our marriage is completely appropriate.
I'm not Bill Belichick. Happy birthday, babe. We'll be back
(50:56):
episode thirty coming out this weekend. Just as you heard
the caller that thinking about going back and reliving those moments. Also,
some of you were updating this. Yeah, I noticed that too.
I think Bubba finally had that knee replacement that he
had been talking about for years that he kind of
knew was coming, and you know that, and hip replacement's
(51:16):
come a long way. So it looks like he's recovering great.
So yeah, thanks for those of you that were asking
about that. Yes, we do know that, so so thanks
a lot. And he seems to be doing fine and
hopefully that'll get him some relief. So I'm looking at
at some of the things that you know, we do.
We've got strange Encounters coming out this weekend episode ten.
I told you the greatest hits of the Hurrick and
Bubba show that's coming out this weekend, episode thirty. So
(51:39):
there's all kinds of things we're doing. You know, we
got the daily archives, we got the best of hours,
We've got Wednesday Bible Study. I mean we Sherry was
talking last night. She goes, it is amazing to me
the birthday girl. Amazing to me the amount of content
you guys put out. She goes, y'all, y'all, y'all crank
out a lot of content. So we we do things
(52:01):
and do recordings and all that, and now see here
on our list of things to do today. Adler says,
I need Speedy to re record the intro to what
is this?
Speaker 5 (52:13):
Yeah, Rick and Bubbas also do we want to address
the ad.
Speaker 1 (52:16):
Yeah, thank y'all.
Speaker 4 (52:17):
All.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
You guys are really really good. And I appreciate those
of you who give us the benefit of the doubt,
which is, you know, ninety something percent of you. Those
of you that don't, you know, maybe ask a question
before you make an accusation. But I do want to
explain because of this world that we are all in now,
and look at there's good and bad with it. Okay,
there's good and bad with it. The good is our
(52:39):
content is available and nobody can stop you from getting it. Okay,
you're not. No one really stands between you and us.
You know, if you want to, you know, if you
don't like what one platform is doing, go to another one. Okay.
So anyway, so that's good. And you can get things
on your own time, also good. Also good, you have
the live you got the your own time. All that's good.
(53:01):
Now here's the bad, trying to be sure that a
company you know, can survive. If you remember, a lot
of times technology gets out ahead of the smoothness of
monetizing that where everybody can make a living. Okay, So
there's a lot of catching up on some of this technology,
on technology, on how you do commercials, how you drop
(53:22):
them in whatever. Well, when we you know, partner with
groups that sell our podcast, but they also sell multiple
podcasts all over the country. They all have different standards.
So when they're selling commercials, you know, they just sell
them and then drop them on their podcast all over
(53:43):
the country. Well, we do have filters that are in
place of ads that we will not be part of
now we don't have any say on some things we
don't endorse, but we can say, Look, there's just certain
products that we can't we just can't have. Okay, sure,
(54:03):
but every now and then I'm shocked that we even
have to have a filter. I can't believe these products
are being sold on any platform. I can't believe I'm
telling you the fact that we won't run that. You
can't run a cigarette commercial, but you can run this stuff.
But anyways, so good night. Some of it is it's unbelievable.
(54:24):
I mean, there was a time when you know, there
was a certain standard of just decency and some of
the language using commercials now some of the products that
they sell. So thank you for always letting us know
if you hear something that doesn't sound right. And there's
one they slipped through the filters yesterday the last two
(54:45):
days on the podcast archive. Look, I'm not approved, Okay,
So I've got a pretty you got to go a
long way for me to hear something. Go that's and
there's one that that slipped through that is. What's it about? Greg? Well, Greg,
(55:07):
I'll give you. I'm just it was on the plants.
Let me say, w NBA team you're right, yeah, like
you're preparing to go to a w NB. It basically said,
if you'd like to order something to throw at the
w NBA players, you can come to us. I got it,
But but how about this. I couldn't I got you covered.
I could not believe. I could not believe the content
(55:28):
of the commercial.
Speaker 4 (55:29):
Eye.
Speaker 1 (55:29):
I couldn't believe it. So they made a commercial look
like that, Oh it makes an E D commercial like
a Sessime Street an okay, And I couldn't believe it.
I was like, I can't believe this airs anywhere where
are trying to land? I think Howard Stern, back when
he had a job, he would say, no, I can't
run that. It should be like before, like a special
(55:52):
movie at a special theater, if you know what I mean.
Speaker 5 (55:54):
That's it the only place.
Speaker 1 (55:55):
I couldn't believe it. And of course we alerted the
company and they said we are taking care of it
right now. That should not have gotten through the filter
to be on y'all's content. But and the bad parts
as they reached down for is Fitty to endorse it
because you were looking. I want you to know. I
want you to know you think you think you have
(56:17):
an idea of how bad it was, You're not. I mean,
Greg might be halfway there. I'll tell you this. It
featured noises, noise ye kind of like people playing tennis.
Well you wait a little bit, and here's the thing.
Because I like to and it's just like watching film.
You know, even though I'm sixty years old, I want
(56:40):
to continue to try to get to be better at
what we do. I don't know some of your thinking
will birds keep working right, But you know, if I
want to be able to look at myself in the
mirror and say, I'm I've never reached the point where
I'm phoning it in. I want to hear criticism. I
want to know what I can do better. I want
to hear things and go, hey, you chewed that word up.
How you didn't have that interview. Well, well, while you
(57:00):
can do better than that. You know, you talked on
top of somebody. Whatever things we can all improve on you.
You can communicate that story better. And so I listen
probably every day, and plus I want to hear how
the show's flowing, is everything working? Did it sound good?
And so I'll usually catch some of the archive, you know,
when I'm driving just about every day, you know, for
(57:21):
breaking down film. So I became one of our listeners.
You know, I'm not expecting this at all, and all
of a sudden the archive starts and this commercial comes on,
and it's like, I start pointing, I'm trying to cut
it off. I'm screaming in the trust. Somebody do something.
So I'm sorry that any of you were exposed to that.
But but back to Adler's point, thank you for letting
(57:42):
us know, because sometimes I might not listen to the archive,
or I might listen not hear the part where that
commercial plays. If you hear something, let us know, because
that's important.
Speaker 3 (57:52):
And if it's most of you do, and if it's
not working for it, like if you can't find our show,
if you can't get our show to work for you
and it normally, especially if it normally works, send send
any of us an email or not Greg, but anybody else,
send us an email.
Speaker 1 (58:06):
And we would love to hear about it.
Speaker 3 (58:08):
Because there's there's been some issues with our podcasts not
populating in people's podcast app on their phones where I
can see that it's live, I can see that it's
working for some people, so it's getting downloads for some people,
but for some people it's not showing up in their phones.
So honestly, do let us know because a lot of
times we might not catch it as soon as you might.
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Well, because there's so many different podcast platforms, and what
we discovered this week is uh, one or two of
the platforms it was. I mean, Adler did it at
the normal time, but they didn't make it available to
you two hours later that night.
Speaker 4 (58:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (58:42):
Yeah, and so that and that was one particular platform
because you saw the download, so it was working on
some platforms. Yeah, So if your platform is not operating,
let us know. Yeah, and Unique speedy to recut something.
Speaker 5 (58:53):
Yeah, I need Okay, so new commercial.
Speaker 1 (58:55):
I know, I know, I shouldn't have brought this seven field.
Speaker 4 (58:58):
I need to do that.
Speaker 1 (58:59):
By the way, I'm sorry we lost it. Sounds listen,
I just lost Greggy. He's trying to listen to yesterday's
archive look at pictures.
Speaker 3 (59:08):
Well, okay, so if you listen, if you listen to
Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits.
Speaker 6 (59:13):
Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits episode thirty, coming out this weekend,
episode eleven or no, sorry, sorry, you're right eleven.
Speaker 5 (59:22):
We've got so many going on.
Speaker 1 (59:23):
It's uh stranging counting is Strange Encounters? Episode eleven?
Speaker 5 (59:28):
Is it ten or eleven? Somebody helping?
Speaker 1 (59:31):
Nobody's eleven?
Speaker 3 (59:32):
Here is Here's what it sounds like. I've got the
beginning of Rick and Bubba's Greatest hits. And my goal
was to make it sound like Speedy's just doing the
best of on the on the on the radio like
he always does.
Speaker 5 (59:44):
Okay, that's why I did it like that.
Speaker 1 (59:47):
It should be Yeah, that sounds good.
Speaker 6 (59:49):
Hey, it's Speedy and this is Rick and Bubba's greatest hits,
flashing back through thirty one years of Radio Gold every
Saturday morning, wherever you get your podcast, it's Rick and
Bubba's great.
Speaker 3 (01:00:04):
So these podcast platforms and when we host it through iHeart.
I don't know if you guys have noticed, but it
is doing an automatically generated transcript.
Speaker 5 (01:00:17):
The podcast.
Speaker 3 (01:00:18):
So it will it will write down the words, it
will type the words of what we are saying. It
will type the words and it will just be there.
It's just there for you to read understands and it
misunderstood Speedy saying Rick and Bubba's greatest hits.
Speaker 5 (01:00:42):
And I'm gonna put it on the screen behind you.
Speaker 1 (01:00:43):
Guys, I don't have a t in that.
Speaker 5 (01:00:46):
I'm not joking. It's rick and Bubba's greatest hits.
Speaker 1 (01:00:55):
Oh my good not look at that. I haven't seen
that word so bold since I stopped sitting in the
infield at television. So I don't know how to sell them.
I don't know how to say hits anymore. You're talking
about trying to grow listeners. You have big by the way.
(01:01:17):
That that explains. That explains something I complain to you
email people like I'm really disappointed in this commercials and
speech talking about Ricking Bumm's credit that. So do you
want me to say that again real quick?
Speaker 3 (01:01:28):
Or I guess we need to recut it, buddy, because
it thinks you're saying something I said.
Speaker 4 (01:01:32):
It does.
Speaker 1 (01:01:33):
I don't know how. Hey, it's speedy. This is the
Ricking bum and greatest hits.
Speaker 3 (01:01:37):
Yes, you ran greatest and hits together, and they were hits.
I thought you were saying something that greatest hit.
Speaker 1 (01:01:43):
Somebody just said my software covened eyes wouldn't give me
access to the archive or this podcast. Now I know what.
Speaker 6 (01:01:50):
Yes, So okay about that. Hey, it's speedy, this is
ricking Bubba's greatest unless you just pause because because I
guess if you say greatest hits, that's sound that one does.
Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
Greatest ts.
Speaker 5 (01:02:04):
Yeah, the great it's the greatest hits, the greatest ones
ever hit hits. We're doing a cow.
Speaker 1 (01:02:25):
Thanks for being with US America and we are having
a blast today. Guests are with us. Uh and guests
are also joining us by phone.
Speaker 4 (01:02:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (01:02:37):
It looks like that new assistant producer Greg burg I
missed that one text HASH has produced. I missed one
text country music star Riley Green, Riley, Welcome, buddy, Riley Green. Gosh,
you know we told everybody you were going to be
on and there's just women in the parking lot screaming
(01:02:58):
and hollering. I've got a cowboy hat on. Have to
walk out there and wave and come right back in.
Speaker 4 (01:03:03):
Well, I actually I hate to do this, but I
just called to tell you all I can't do it today.
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Oh it's been a nervous race. I missed that text
other night, That's what I did.
Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
I didn't think that Greg was the schedule guy. I
was pretty surprised when y'all let him handle that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:19):
But here we are normally not yeah, but apparently he's
taking you and you're his little buddy. Tell you, but
he's got a security fence around you can't good it's
not true. I just know how y'all are.
Speaker 4 (01:03:31):
I had buddies texting me they were looking forward to
hearing me on a Rick show yesterday, and then I
had someone text me and say they enjoyed me on there.
So I figure you'll ha somebody stand in for me.
Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
Yeah. I got that one a little late, but that
was on we actually did. It was bo Bis's brother. Yeah,
so Riley, Riley, Riley, look at you man? Oh, I mean,
so let's let's jump into a couple of things and
we won't get too serious because with I know you'd
rather not, but we do need to talk about this.
(01:04:03):
So and I tell Greg I said, there's no way
and Speedy that this was your idea. It was some
pr person, but it worked. When you put out this
social media message, I guess it was on Wednesday of
you know about some big news involving now in twenty
twenty four. Obviously you had the huge album Don't mind
if I do, But what is this deluxe edition that
(01:04:25):
you just announced six new songs or something. Tell the
audience about what you just announced.
Speaker 4 (01:04:30):
Yeah, well you it's funny how well you knowing it
because there was like an encrypted message or something that
we posted, and there's no way I would have came
up with that. So yeah, that was some social media
marketing idea, but they let fans kind of figure out
what it was. But yeah, I got six songs that
I recorded here in the last couple of months, and
(01:04:51):
that album's just done so well. I've got another single
off of it right now, Country radio don't mind if
I do. It's a current single, and I just wanted
to put some more music on that album, keep tone
Gas on it. It's been the biggest thing I've put out,
and uh, you know, it's just that when you have
something's working, you want to kind of I don't want
to stray too far from it. So we've got six
new songs that have come out here at the end
(01:05:12):
of the month, and my tour we just keep adding dates.
Two I'm going out all of November with Jamie Johnson's
going out with me and Drake White and a girl
named Hannah mcfallan, and all those are Alabama artists. So
I'm excited about that. Be able to take out a
bunch of folks from Alabama and yeah, I have some
new songs to play.
Speaker 1 (01:05:31):
Yeah, I was noticing you'll stay with you. It's almost
like you're like the NASCAR Alabama Gang. Yeah, you know
Ella Langley, the duet you've done with hers, I mean,
hope hole. We were just did a man church there
not too long ago. Yeah, Alabama, And of course those
duets have been monsters for you right now, and of
course we hope it continues. You know, you were doing great.
(01:05:52):
But this album you just touched on it, can you
kind of can we jump inside what it's like to
be Riley Green? Is this thing is taking you to
a whole another place right now?
Speaker 4 (01:06:03):
Well? Yeah, I mean you know, and y'all y'all have
kind of seen it from the beginning, but it was
a lot of my success early on was very gradual.
It was very like regional and you know, I couldn't
go into the rocket without somebody knowing me, you know.
And since then it's gotten to be where it's it's
not only national, but I mean, we played a show
(01:06:26):
with Morgan wall And last year at Hyde Park in
London and it was the biggest country show they ever had.
It was completely sold out. And I went to Australia
last year for the first time. We did two sold
out shows in Brisbane and we headlined two major festivals
out there two days, one in Sydney and one in Melbourne.
So I mean it's country music as a whole is
just getting more popular. I think it has to do
(01:06:48):
a lot with shows like Yellowstone and just that western
lifestyle kind of becoming popular. But it's the last eight
months or so, I've never really had any what I
would call like TikTok and you look like you love me.
This song with Ella Don't Mind If I Do is
another one. Changed my mind a lot. I've had a
lot of songs that have done really well in that world,
(01:07:09):
and that's a completely different chemographic. Those are kids, you know,
So it's changed a lot. Man. You can sit there
and look at streaming numbers and downloads and ticket sales,
a lot of ways to kind of monitor it. But
just for me trying to go to the airport or
go to you know, Walmart or whatever, is like the
days of normalcy are kind of over for me right now.
Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
It seems like, yeah, on that note, you you kind
of went there. This European popularity and Greg was telling me, uh,
and we checked on it that you're European tour that's
coming up UK in the in the UK is selling
out everywhere that you're going. Tell us what since you
had you've dipped your toe in it with London and
(01:07:53):
then of course I know the austral is a different animal,
but when you're in other parts of the world. But
since you're about to go back to the UK and
hit all these dates, is it a different feel from
the audience?
Speaker 4 (01:08:04):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (01:08:04):
I mean, do they do? They seem as savvy with
it as say an American audience when it comes to
country music.
Speaker 4 (01:08:12):
It's gonna be crazy to say this, but it sometimes
it's it's they're they're more into it. I Mean, what
I noticed is like Canada was the first place that
I went. So my first single there was This Girl
went number one in Canada before the US, and it
was I mean the first time I went, they were
like going crazy, you know, they knew every word to
every song. And what I realized is kind of people
(01:08:34):
all over the world listen to the same music we do,
they watch the same movies we do. And if you
go and take the time to see them. They love
you for it, you know. So the UK, when I
played that show up there, it was like being at
a big festival in the United States. You know, there's
less Dale Earnhardt T shirts and less mullets, but they
(01:08:54):
sing it just as loud. The only thing I've noticed
is an issue, and and I'm doing it this week
because tomorrow we have to live golf show. Tonight. Tomorrow
we go to maybe Montreal, and I played a festival there.
I think we're doing it again called Lasto And you
know they speak friendship there. Oh wow, y'all, y'all may
be educated. I didn't know that when I went. I
(01:09:15):
saw the road sides and stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:09:17):
Yeah, my wife told me I didn't know.
Speaker 4 (01:09:19):
Yeah, okay, so let's be realistic. So I got up
there and uh, they they knew all the words that
everything sang along, but my on stage banter, like in
between songs, when I would say something that I thought
was really funny, I got nothing. I didn't understand me
my accent. And then so they would just be singing
and happy, and now I start talking, they'd all just
(01:09:40):
have a blank look on their face and stare at me.
To the next song started light boom boom.
Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
Yeah, you know it's it's I think you're I think
you're talking about do you think there's with these audiences
around the world, and of course you're doing the UK,
we'll talk there. Do you think there is even more
frenzy there because it's not so familiar, Like I can speak,
for instance, if I walk around Calhoun County, nobody makes
a big deal about it. But let me tell you something.
I walk into West Point, Mississippi, and I'm a pretty
(01:10:05):
big deal. And yeah, I mean you honestly, I kidding, okay,
aside because it's not so normal for them, for all
of you to be there.
Speaker 4 (01:10:17):
Yeah, I mean I see the same thing kind of
when I go home, and yeah, I'll take a few
pictures in Walmart, but it's people somewhat expect to see me.
I might still live out in Pleasant Valley and Nashville's
kind of like that. You know, you don't get bombarded
in Nashville near as much, but when you go somewhere
where people aren't expecting it, you know, And I see
that with festivals. You know, when I was growing up,
I've never been on a plane before I sign a
(01:10:38):
record deal in twenty eighteen, and now I think I
spend the majority of my time on one and I'm
going to places that I thought, well, they don't like
country music out there, you know, La. We just did
a show in downtown New York on a rooftop, sold
out in minutes, you know, and there is passionate about it,
or more fashionates than they are when I play in
(01:10:58):
the Southeast. So there's something to that. I don't really
know how to explain it other than just they don't
get it every day, you know. And you know, when
I played in LA, I realized there's people from all
over the world that live in LA. And there's not
like when you go to Nashville, there's no there's a
country music bar on every corner out there.
Speaker 6 (01:11:16):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:11:16):
When you go to LA, there's just one place you
have a country concert. They all show up, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:11:21):
No, I think that's it. Yeah, And and somebody's asking
on text Nation and you you still have a lot left,
you know, Lord Willing, But when have you had a
moment where you were talking about we were talking about
how your your career is going to a whole another level.
Was there a moment that you can kind of reflect on,
(01:11:41):
or it might be moments where you went, Okay, this
is another level now. Uh, can is there anything that
stands out?
Speaker 4 (01:11:51):
There's been a there's been a bunch of them, but
it's it's it's been a lot of little moments. It
seems like, I mean, you know, we put out the
music video for Worst Way and it was the number
one music video in the world. You know, that's all genre.
When you start talking about all genre, that's that that's
a different level because there's so many more pop and
rock fans and there are ore country fans in the world. Uh.
(01:12:14):
You know. But like as far as shows, you know
that there's some things that are really cool. Playing the
rhymen is great, you know, doing we sold show at
Red Rocks last year. We're about to go back that. Uh.
Doing stadiums. We did CMA Fest in the stadium at Nissan.
You know, those things are you get to see it happen.
But for me just being able to go play as
(01:12:34):
sold I's still a big deal for me to go
sell out and Burningham. I mean when I heard they
were opening a new yeah, when I heard they were
opening up that cam Co Cola amphitheater, I was I
called my booking agency, Man, I want to be one
of the first acts to play there, and we were
the first sold out show there. But I can remember
going to play in the Oasis, you know, down there
(01:12:56):
in five points there and being excited to get the
call to go do it. You know, I played Slyve Pizza.
I don't know how many times.
Speaker 1 (01:13:05):
All right, we'll come back. Riley Green is with us.
We got one more segment, and thank you for working
us in. I know he's busy. You know, a lot
of people want to know how he played yesterday in
the program. That's what I want to know. This is
all going great, but I want to know how he played.
Bro Yeah, and we're going to continue in conversation with
Riley Green. And he did make that announcement, by the way,
on Wednesday, six new songs coming out at the end
(01:13:27):
of this month, added to the already mega successful Don't
mind if I do. Thank you America for being with
us our guest Riley Green, and he's hanging out with
us a little bit today. He's out with the liv
Golf bunch. The big tournament coming up, and of course
(01:13:48):
he's playing there and was in the program yesterday. Riley
text Nation wants to know, how do you play yesterday?
Speaker 4 (01:13:56):
Well, I told Greg I embarrassed to stay out Alabama,
but that might be an exaggeration. I didn't tell anybody
else from Alabama.
Speaker 1 (01:14:04):
So they it was ugly ugly.
Speaker 4 (01:14:09):
Well, you know the problem I have, and and and
and some of y'all may have this problem. I hit
the ball so far that I can't I can't not
do that every time, you know what I mean, like
where there's a hole that's you know, you just don't
need to swing as hard as you can on I
can't make myself not because I hear that little noise
(01:14:30):
when I hit it through. Go oh and So that's
all looking for. It's not about my scores. So I
hit I ate a lot of balls in the woods
and and and here a couple of houses. But I
had some great shots.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
You know they put you with.
Speaker 4 (01:14:43):
I was with Patrick Reid.
Speaker 1 (01:14:45):
Oh cool, no cool? Yeah, I don't know who that is,
but you had a response.
Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
He's pretty big time golfer. Yeah he's great.
Speaker 1 (01:14:53):
Uh did you speaking of that? How cool is it
you getting to do BP with all these Major league
base You can still rip.
Speaker 4 (01:15:01):
It, buddy, man, I never hit the ball like that
when I was playing. Of course I weighed about one
hundred and sixty pounds when I was in high school too,
But uh, at night, it's been awesome.
Speaker 6 (01:15:13):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
We went to Philly and I told my camera guy
that was and I said, man, just I'll hit a
few line drives. You know, I can hit the ball.
Just made me look cool. And I had some buddies
from back home with me, and I hit two or
three up in the stands and Bryce Harper walked out
and I was like, well, that's that's like the cart
girl pulling up and golf like that's over with, you know.
And I was smoking. I probably hit eleven or twelve
(01:15:38):
out and I was sworning so bad to act like,
oh snow book deal. You know, I do this whole time,
but I couldn't. I was surprised as anybody. But now
we get asked to go hit everywhere we go, so
we've I've hit something. And I hit one out in Toronto, Tampa, Cincinnati, Philly,
hit the bull and Durham. That was cool. I always
(01:15:59):
want can you.
Speaker 1 (01:16:01):
Even hear what you're saying? Can you believe that you're
on these fields and people just let you come back
there and hit now, because because you've got some big hits,
and country music isn't that big all kinds.
Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
The only reason I can believe it is because the
way my back feels.
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
All right, yeah, uh Greg, Greg wants us to bring
something up, and hekay, great, your buddy. He wants to
talk about the video. Worst way that your first love
saying that.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
So, I don't know what just made me feel so
awkward pictureing Greg watching that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
Wife that. I was just wondering how awkward I always
hear these actors talking about all the cameras around and
you're in there tearing that sugar up and knowing that
your mama's gonna see it. Your mama's gonna see it.
Speaker 4 (01:16:52):
Well, my mom. I was a little concerned about my
mom saying it, but she also enjoys that new car
she has and living in my house. Worried too much
about it? Yeah, my mom? Could my mom could be
mad at me. Wasn't that video on her new big
screen TV? You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:17:07):
About? Uh?
Speaker 4 (01:17:10):
No, it's it's it's not as cool as it looks.
You know, I knew that the actress in the video
i'd actually had a music video before I filmed a
video and Believe for a song called in Love by Now,
and so I figured if I got somebody I knew
would be less awkward. But there were a couple of
scenes in there where I, you know, the director said hey,
we got it, let's move on, and said, hey, you
(01:17:32):
sure you don't want to do it again.
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
I didn't feel good about it. I didn't feel good
about it. Let's try I can do it better. That's great,
and you know it's somebody we got to go on
text Nation said, so you're going back to Red Rocks.
He said, he's coming to see you in a week
or so, or it looks like, yeah, a couple of weeks. Yeah,
a couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:17:52):
I just looked. I got to go home for a
couple of days after Birmingham, which was nice to hung
out of the farm down there, because I knew I
had a pretty wild run coming up. We go from
here to Quebec City to Calgary and then we end
up out in the West and we're doing We'll go
to Jackson Hole for a private show, doing Montana, a
couple of things in California. I've got a Grammy thing
(01:18:12):
in La but I'm on the road till the thirty
first from today, so it's one of those runs. But
it's in there somewhere Red Rock.
Speaker 1 (01:18:19):
He said he's coming for his thirtieth anniversary and he's
praying that his wife will still go back home with him.
I presume you know. Yeah, I can't imagine what you.
Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
Sit too close to the stage.
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
You can't help it. Man, again, you can't help yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:18:31):
And speaking of the stage, I can't imagine what you
see from up there. Is it true you had to
break up to your girls fight?
Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
What's this girl fight? You had to bring attention to that?
I think was it? Was it here in the last
couple of weeks.
Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
Yeah, it wasn't too long ago. Something about that, Something
about that really bothers me. Is like, if you're going
to fight, I just wish they would just do it.
You know. Most of the time it's just like somebody
holding somebody back and neither one of them actually want to.
But girls, they'll grab that hair. And I think I
said something, you know, in the moment, I wasn't really
thinking about it, but I think I said something about
(01:19:02):
y'all can't be fighting. You're going to pull all your
extensions out and then before I got picked up by
news At. That's another thing when you get where I
am is you should have watched what you say, because
you better it's gonna be somewhere to them all.
Speaker 10 (01:19:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:19:14):
And like when you're on a stage like that, how
far back can you really see if they don't turn
the stadium lights owner the house lights, how many rows
back can you really see what people are doing?
Speaker 4 (01:19:26):
I can usually see to the end of the pit.
That's about it, you know. So, I mean you're talking
about probably forty fifty yards I guess, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:19:34):
Yeah. And then the other thing, people are asking who
are some of the people, you know, Jamie Johnson, others
that influence you to get into the And there's people
texting saying you've influenced them, so now you're that guy.
But who are some of the people other than Jamie Johnson?
Speaker 4 (01:19:50):
Uh? Well, the Randy Oe. I mean, you know, there
wasn't a lot of guys from Alabama that really made it,
you know what I mean. And if you think about
it in country music, George, I mean it was Luke Bryan,
Jason Oding, Cole Swindell, Brandley, Gilbert, Zach Brown. There was
all these guys that kind of piggybacked off each other
and had these big careers, and I kind of felt
(01:20:10):
like when I was coming up, Alabama kind of put
me on their shoulders a little bit, you know, And
I was kind of that hometown guy. And you know,
that's one reason I'm so proud to talk about me
being from down there is because they really did a
lot for me. And Jamie was one of those guys,
and Randy Owen, and you know, I just I had
a lot of influences. I'm I'm thirty six, so I
(01:20:31):
would grew up in that burnt CD era when you
listen to you anything and everything. You know, My mom
and dad were listening to like the Band and Marshall
Tucker Band, and mom was like Fleetwood Mac and the
Mamas and the Papas. And I had a sister that's
ten years older than me, listened to like Weezer and Sublime.
And my sister Kathie was a big Kim McGraw. So
(01:20:54):
you know, I just had a lot of influences. And
my Granddady you for love Roy Cuff and Merle Haggard
and George Jones.
Speaker 1 (01:21:02):
You know, he's proud Gret George. Yeah, don't bring up
George straight in front of Greg. Hey, we gotta let
you go. Riley. I don't hold somebody named Ella Langley.
So we're not gonna take that now. We're not gonna
take that call, so Riley, I promise, So let's don't
do it today. Riley, thank you, man, you've been a blast,
(01:21:25):
and appreciate you taking time. And man, we couldn't be
more thrilled for you. You've earned it. Thanks a lot, buddy,
appreciate it. Fellows seem if you are just now joining us,
you missed a lot, including our interview with Riley Green,
(01:21:46):
so catch out in the archives if you haven't already. Uh,
And I will say that was a blast.
Speaker 3 (01:21:52):
It was.
Speaker 1 (01:21:52):
That was a blast. Riley. Uh has got a great
sense of humor, obviously doing incredibly well. Uh, and was
gracious enough to give us a lot of his time.
And trust me, everybody wants his time now, So that
was great. Matter of fact, I think he's next on
Pat McAfee show. He is, so he's there now, and
then he's got all the tours going on and so Greg,
(01:22:13):
I tell you, you can tell he's still grateful for
that gig. You gave him. Yeah, that's when he pushed
him over the top.
Speaker 6 (01:22:19):
You said you had pictures from then, Yeah, at LISTA.
Speaker 1 (01:22:21):
Found one the other day and he looked like duck Dynasty.
Oh you got a big loan beard. We got to
get that. Playing at Chandler's birthday party. Yeah, eighteenth eight
she's thirty one now. Yeah, so he played her eighteenth
birthday party at your house. Yes, and he says, now,
you did pay him. I did pay him. He'd like
to tell her about I didn't pay him. Let me
(01:22:42):
what's what's hilarious? Whatever it is you paid, not his
current right? Yeah, I was about to say his current right,
you boy?
Speaker 5 (01:22:50):
You did you say did how?
Speaker 4 (01:22:52):
How old?
Speaker 5 (01:22:52):
Did he say? He was thirty three or thirty thirty six?
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
Thirty six, So that would have been thirteen years ago,
so he would have been twenty three at your house, Greg.
Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
Yeah, cranking out the birthday hits now local Jacksonville. He
was the man. He hadn't hit it big, but said
he was pretty big at the Rocket. Oh yeah, do
you remember when I went Oasis for the city of Jacksonville.
Remember I went and got dunked, and the dunk and
the street down. Yeah, yeah, he was.
Speaker 6 (01:23:18):
He was on the street on the stage performing live
during that and that's I mean, he was just this
local guy named Rays here.
Speaker 3 (01:23:26):
By the way, I've played the Oasis as well, so
I've played. I've played a lot of places that Green
has played. He's played a lot of places I haven't.
I noticed that you performed Love is Not lone where
I performed.
Speaker 1 (01:23:41):
Not Lonely back and make fun of my one of
the darkest points in my life, in my adult life.
Make so it was a crowded after a relationship, and
love should not be lonely, lonely with the girl, and
I felt.
Speaker 5 (01:23:59):
Lonely when I was with Love is Not Lonely?
Speaker 1 (01:24:02):
What am I doing?
Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:24:04):
I shouldn't choice. I shouldn't feel lonely around a person.
Speaker 5 (01:24:07):
I'm with her?
Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
Right, Why am I lonely? You know what you could do?
Speaker 5 (01:24:11):
So I could cry?
Speaker 1 (01:24:12):
You know what you could do? I mean he might
not have access to songwriters, you know, Nashville didn't have
any right but maybe maybe you could send him just
the song. So Roy considered this.
Speaker 5 (01:24:21):
For the next I'll pitch it to him.
Speaker 1 (01:24:23):
What if all of a sudden we were sitting here
and there was a release after all this finishes, Like say,
twenty twenty five, Roddy Green announces new album titled Love
is Not Longe his biggest hit up for the single
of the year. We can get one of the writers
(01:24:43):
on the road that we met the other night. Yeah, yeah,
that's good. Guys are funny. Maybe do a little something
else to it, you know the lyric, Yeah, they make
Why no, you don't got to change a thing, just like, hey,
it's a hit. Love is not Lonely? What's what's the metal?
Speaker 5 (01:24:59):
And love is lonely? That's such a bad stick.
Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
Do you still have too bad?
Speaker 5 (01:25:06):
And embarrassing?
Speaker 1 (01:25:07):
You know that you thought, hey, I've got I thought, wow.
Speaker 3 (01:25:10):
I'm so depressed now and putting it to words, that's
how depressed I am.
Speaker 1 (01:25:14):
Yes, I remember when we were doing the bandays had
the delusion you were we would put something together. I'm like,
how can somebody not sign us?
Speaker 4 (01:25:19):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:25:20):
I mean what do they how can they.
Speaker 9 (01:25:23):
Not see it?
Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:25:24):
I mean guns, listen up here, you know we've got
we've got we got to tell you. We got a
classmate in here. He saw the days. Oh yeah, he
did a few shows. He came to a few shows. Yeah,
and you probably thought the same thing. How are they
(01:25:45):
still here? I think's got stepped on the power cord
when I shot told you, yes he did. I know,
I know for a fact Haystacks did. Yeah, his Stacks
shut the whole show down.
Speaker 3 (01:25:56):
One.
Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
I think when he was out in the woods that
that trailer had that big gem, the sad thing about
our friends in those days when we say, now, test
would you like most about Yeah, they were lights. It
was loud, thank you? Cut down.
Speaker 3 (01:26:14):
If Riley Green came out and he's like, this next
song is called Age of Miracles.
Speaker 1 (01:26:19):
What if we look like every song we any of
us have ever done? It was this whole album. Cut three,
Love is Not Lonely? Cut five, She's Gone?
Speaker 4 (01:26:27):
You know?
Speaker 1 (01:26:30):
Screen for you? What man fixed? Patches?
Speaker 4 (01:26:33):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
Seven?
Speaker 5 (01:26:34):
Speedies play and.
Speaker 1 (01:26:37):
Remember the song about the food trailer.
Speaker 4 (01:26:40):
We get.
Speaker 1 (01:26:43):
Greg, what if a minute? What if you got to text?
Speaker 4 (01:26:47):
What do you?
Speaker 1 (01:26:48):
What have you got to cut? Text from Riley Green?
He said, I got some good news for you. And
this song coming out night is gonna be another duet.
Oh you sing with that or something else? No speedy
we worked called Greg that he's got two lines in it,
and then cut number ten. That Garrel is crazy, crazy
(01:27:09):
ripping off, right, but you know what you know will
be cool right in there? What if he changed the
name of it and the new The new album is
called Sounds from Calvin count my talent some of the
greatest bands. It's a listler.
Speaker 6 (01:27:25):
Please tell me you tagged because I sent you the
YouTube of you singing love is Not Lonely?
Speaker 1 (01:27:29):
Do you have that? Don Where did you get that?
Might be? The listener sent it to us. It was
a YouTube blame and I sent it to you when
we played we don't.
Speaker 5 (01:27:37):
I think it's gone through.
Speaker 1 (01:27:38):
The internet, so we have people bootlegging your content.
Speaker 5 (01:27:45):
Find love is not no thing that's worth worth now
is embarrassing, making me feel stupid.
Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
Lose, But that is still value because it's bringing something
to the show, right said, Look, he knows where it is.
Knowhere his fingert You know where it is, don't you?
Speaker 3 (01:28:03):
Like?
Speaker 4 (01:28:03):
You don't?
Speaker 1 (01:28:04):
Yes, he's got it, He's got it. There you go, Yes,
of course I know sound take that a hundred times.
(01:28:24):
Greg is not funny, never funny, never not funny. That
one is N N and F not never. Know that
you're riding that bull hitting that it's never not funny
to one. I saw it the other day when I
went on there long enough to actually call it riding way.
You hit that ground so hard you think you think
(01:28:45):
Greg falling off the bull is funnier than the water
skiing incident. No intent, that's a dooge like knock maw, Yeah,
that was that one was off at that point. I
done got it back. You know, he's you found that way.
Watch how fast I hit the ground.
Speaker 5 (01:29:08):
It's up real slowly.
Speaker 1 (01:29:10):
I was hurting.
Speaker 5 (01:29:12):
It took you eight seconds to get off the ground
like that.
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):
I did, honestly. On the way home, I thought I
got to pull over. Oh man, oh my goodness. So
you found that, but you can't find your h It's disappeared.
Speaker 6 (01:29:25):
Finding it in my email because I said, oh you
were so hurt there like a cat.
Speaker 1 (01:29:32):
I was riding. Thank you for being here. All right,
Here come the bridge, Come that comes, here comes Niles
Bridge just won five hundred dollars five hundred. I'll know,
letting Bridge and Scott bridd.
Speaker 5 (01:29:53):
The big boy, Mike is hot.
Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Go ahead, watch him go ahead. I didn't know what
spaded was britt. Go ahead, y'all say it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
Say it.
Speaker 1 (01:30:02):
Somebody saying you and Scott new favor, y'all do favorite
this morning? I said, so you looking so, Scott Britt,
you're a graduate of Oxford High School a year nineteen
eighty four.
Speaker 2 (01:30:12):
Four.
Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
That's right, So you're there again, graduated with Greg when
you're after me. Of course a lot of people probably
want us to take this time for you to talk
about what it was like to see, oh seventy five
out there, here you go, I started to work fourteen. Yeah, yeah,
get you one, get you one four? You stretch that thing.
Speaker 4 (01:30:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:30:31):
So you got to play for you played the ball
for dad because he's your coach too. Yes. And actually
Scott Britt was an option quarterback, okay, out of that
wild triple off, a little footed but done all right.
Not the fastest quarterback we have, but you read good.
You could, you could, you could run that off reason
plays not the books, that's right. No. No, now, academically
not as strong like the line rested up. None of
(01:30:53):
us were.
Speaker 9 (01:30:54):
I think me and Greg was in algebra for two years.
Speaker 1 (01:30:58):
I think we never get out of it. Because you
got it. You do that graduate, so you do. Do
you have any any questions or shoutouts?
Speaker 4 (01:31:06):
Now?
Speaker 11 (01:31:07):
Just say hello to my wife at home. Yeah, I
think she's listening. And my grandson's in schools.
Speaker 1 (01:31:12):
Oh that's great. Yeah, you have any grandchur and just
one old fourteen fourteen? So how about Niles win five
hundred bucks? That's great. I can get that money back.
Speaker 9 (01:31:20):
I spent on them for supper the other night.
Speaker 1 (01:31:23):
And uh, and Nile's we we're gonna do that money.
I don't know. You hadn't thought about it yet. To
my husband, do you like this guy's kind that she's married?
You feel okay? And he's getting married next year? Yes, Saturday,
that's right. Did you either one of you have any
more shout outs? Any thing? Ors that shut out?
Speaker 4 (01:31:45):
I work with.
Speaker 9 (01:31:46):
We're listening every morning.
Speaker 1 (01:31:48):
Okay, good, Yeah, I do too. Yeah. I want to
do this though. Yeah, that's right, and I am because
we're up against the heartbreak. I do want to come
address the statement you made a minute ago about how
you're tying me to this incident. And we wanted to
get into the incident. But I'd like to hear about this.
(01:32:10):
I guess I've protected myself by forgetting you forgot Okay.
Speaker 9 (01:32:15):
We all spent the night with one another, and my
dad got out looking for us.
Speaker 1 (01:32:18):
Okay, okay, so stand by he found us too, Yeah, yeah, yes,
yes he did, Yes he did. I do want to
get the follow up on that. And then we're going
to meet the rest of the vox seats that want
to come up. We'll say hello to the ones who
don't want to, but they're still going to get a
shout out. So we'll come back more with Scott Britt
right after this coming up. We're meeting the Vox seats.
(01:32:45):
And it just so happens today that Scott Britt is
here with two of his children. And he went to
high school with Greg and me graduated with Greg only
one year behind me. So we all ran in the
same circles and this you know, normally we meet people
that went with us. It may be acquaintance and you go,
but no, he was one of those. This was one
of the fellas. And we spent more time with Greg
(01:33:08):
than me, which he probably regrets, and so but but
the but we all crossed past quite a few times,
and so there was an incident yep, that that took
place involving and look, we were all stupid kids. Sure,
we were the famous thing where you tell your parents.
You're all spending the night somewhere, but really you're somewhere else.
(01:33:30):
And and it's never as miserable because once this time
fall asleep, they didn't have life three sixties. Yeah thing,
And you tell me if you said, okay for me
to say that your family at the time had a
place on the place on the lake, and you didn't
really have permission to have your friends down there.
Speaker 11 (01:33:48):
Really wasn't supposed to be that far off anyway, And
we were we were just on the screen import we was.
We was uh, we just went down there to uh
roast marsh meadows and drink milk.
Speaker 1 (01:33:58):
Of course, of course you did. And of course I
remember and of course if I remember a Bible study.
But the so so you guys were there doing what
young males, stupid males do. But but you were in
the safety of a home. You weren't out on the
roads or anything like that. And but you weren't supposed
(01:34:21):
to be there, no. Yeah, And I've been hearing the
story for years and and it is a classic, especially
involving you and and and your dad. Uh, but it's classic.
And I the whole time, I've always been on the
outside because I wasn't there. Just everybody knows. And I
hear the story, and I've heard it a thousand times.
(01:34:42):
I start yucking it up with Scott rid about it
again and he says, well, yeah, you're the one that
that told my dad we were there. I never heard that.
Speaker 11 (01:34:51):
Oh yeah it was him, because my dad told me
that he got the information from you to get he
was doing his you know, he was being goody goody
and you know, and we weren't. And so when this
storm come up, my dad calls where I'm supposed to
be and he said, hey, I just want to make
sure they kids made it in all right.
Speaker 9 (01:35:11):
She said, well, my son's supposed to be spending the
night with y'all.
Speaker 11 (01:35:14):
Oh, it all started falling apart, and so, you know,
you got this storm coming up. So my dad decides
I'm gonna get out and go look for them. Well
he runs into Rick done It Moores Family Fund Sign
Family Fund Suner.
Speaker 1 (01:35:25):
Yeah, I don't remember this. Yeah, hey, you know where.
Speaker 9 (01:35:29):
Greg and Scott are at And he says, uh, well,
I think they went down to the river.
Speaker 1 (01:35:34):
Oh Rick, Oh yeah, so you didn't mean to, but
you can't you know, No, I don't think I meant to.
I wouldn't have thrown y'all under the bus in the river.
You did.
Speaker 11 (01:35:44):
And so we're sitting out on this porch and it's
probably about one two o'clock in the morning, and we
see these headlights pulling on the drive and they said, Scott,
wake up, there's somebody coming down the drive.
Speaker 9 (01:35:55):
And I said, well, this is private property. So I
went to let this poor man have it.
Speaker 1 (01:36:00):
Yes you did, oh, he guy having it. And in
about five.
Speaker 11 (01:36:04):
Minutes after this guy continuously walking at us, and I
didn't know who it was still, and I'm still verbally
assaulting him, and this shadow hits the feet of this
person and it keeps working its way up and when
it hits my dad's face after what I just said,
and he went into like a call money.
Speaker 9 (01:36:25):
He couldn't talk no more.
Speaker 1 (01:36:26):
He did for a one hour. He never said another word.
You said you were going to whoop somebody about the
time you're regular him. He said, I tell you what
to be a cold day if you can think you're
gonna whoop me, And you went completely out.
Speaker 4 (01:36:38):
He went.
Speaker 1 (01:36:43):
Those dads, those dads that we had, okay, And you
just told him you could whip him and you're gonna
whip his you know what for coming on that? Yes,
and then you hear the voice it would be a
cold day when you whip me. Sh get in the car,
you're going home, and Gray what was his face.
Speaker 11 (01:37:00):
Just frozen froze comatoe. So we drive to East Boga
and he says, I can't leave them down there. I
got I feel responsible. So we're going to turn around
and me and my dad's not said a word the
whole time. I think he's hit me two or three times.
And we get back down there and they're just like,
who was that guy that got picked up down here?
We're still partying on.
Speaker 1 (01:37:16):
It wasn't you heard that? They were like eating sandwiches.
That was when we got back mom and Dad's. He said,
if y'all will come and stay at our place, then
everything's good. You can get you something to eat.
Speaker 11 (01:37:31):
And some mother had just been to the grocery store
and all groceries and listen, we laughed and we cut
up about that that night, and we ate everything in
the cupboard.
Speaker 1 (01:37:40):
We did everything. Didn't you say that one of the
group and we don't have to say his name when
it was just when it was still supposed to be
completely sensitive. No, y'all don't know how much trouble you
were all in still, And then the one person says.
Speaker 10 (01:37:53):
He said, I haven't eat all Daywich, that we were
in trouble at that point, and you still, I mean,
it's like a forty five minute ride, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:38:06):
And you don't think it was. I can't believe. You
can't believe. And I remember what, bro what finally took
you out of your coma when we got back to
the house. Yes, and when when you can come in?
He had horns and said, I said, anybody open this list.
Speaker 9 (01:38:22):
And that kind of I kind of come out, I
come out off and you start.
Speaker 11 (01:38:27):
But I tell you what, when y'all left that next morning, Bud,
it wasn't fine around our house.
Speaker 1 (01:38:33):
He didn't have no eat eater.
Speaker 11 (01:38:34):
You had to build shears that you had to come
out and it was one hundred degrees outside and I'm
trimming around the house and cutting grass.
Speaker 1 (01:38:41):
And his dad never told him you had to push
ups and squatch. That's about the story. So, yeah, I
did not know what I said.
Speaker 9 (01:38:52):
Yes, when he finally confessed that, I said, how did
you know where we were at?
Speaker 11 (01:38:56):
He said, well, I ran into Rick and he said
he didn't want to really tell me at first, he said,
but he finally teld me.
Speaker 1 (01:39:04):
Well, I didn't have this brand. Now I've got it.
Speaker 5 (01:39:06):
You cracked.
Speaker 1 (01:39:07):
Now I've got to carry this burden I got. Was
probably just trying to help you all. Y'all need to
straighten up. I got one. Can I ask you this
one question? Has Greg ever stolen the car from you?
Speaker 9 (01:39:17):
Twice?
Speaker 1 (01:39:21):
And one of them was this? One of them was
a transam. I'd never driven a transam. Well, I think
Scott found that out. The other one was a chavel
to the.
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
I heard.
Speaker 1 (01:39:34):
We had been down to see Helga. Oh no.
Speaker 5 (01:39:39):
Easy, easy, easy easy.
Speaker 1 (01:39:42):
I can't watch your kids hear this. I can't. I
will just see him started, but we'd gone to see him.
One was a seven foot woman at the side show
with the at the fair. The caun't let me just
clarify to get her full or for worked the full title,
Hellga the German Giants. That's when she went her opening
(01:40:04):
neck the human blockhead. He would drive nails up his notes,
her closing act traumatizing.
Speaker 11 (01:40:10):
So but yeah, yeah, I didn't mean tear it tram
your car he took my car. We sent over to
Guy's house and and I done went to bed, I think.
And I got up the next morning and all the
chrome moting on the side.
Speaker 9 (01:40:24):
Of my car was gone.
Speaker 1 (01:40:26):
The sky hung on the bush, and we were.
Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
On the dirt run.
Speaker 9 (01:40:30):
It was laid in the back seat like you've been
to a scrapyard.
Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
And met just throw it. And I love the fact
he probably thought, well, let me just put that in
the back seat.
Speaker 11 (01:40:41):
So not only did he he stole my car, knocked
all the metal off, piled it in the back seat.
Speaker 1 (01:40:46):
And I said, great, how did this happen?
Speaker 9 (01:40:47):
He said, I went over the railroad trucks and just
all fell off.
Speaker 1 (01:40:50):
Well, like I made that up, and it's transamed. He
had to lay across a transam. He had to lay
across the road so I would stop. So that's when
you knew please dre no. I said, where are you going?
Speaker 11 (01:41:02):
He said, I just want to go up the road,
and I said, you're not going nowhere. I laid down,
But you know, I think about I don't see you
guys all the time. And I listened to the show
a lot, but just the memories that we had grilling
up there's nothing like it, you know.
Speaker 1 (01:41:16):
Yeah, you went scho together from like, yeah, fourth grade on.
Speaker 9 (01:41:21):
Yeah, and you talk about your dad and all that other.
Speaker 1 (01:41:24):
Uh.
Speaker 11 (01:41:24):
Playing ball for him was probably one of the greatest
experiences I've ever had.
Speaker 9 (01:41:28):
He was a He was a real good guy.
Speaker 1 (01:41:30):
Yep. Know that, one of a kind. He was a
handle Scott. Okay, enjoyed it. Kids. Yeah, this now that
now I'm burdened by something that I was unburdened. Yeah,
I know that.
