North Carolina, Andy Griffith's hometown. Ready to go. How about

(00:54):
them coal miners and Brookwood, they said they're ready. Let's go.

(01:31):
Pop Tart says he's ready. And also the Blue Creek
coal miners in Barry, Alabama, say we're with you too.
Weaver bear Cats are ready. Titusville, Pennsylvania Ready. Parish tractor
is ready to go. As I said Scottsboro, the Coca
Cola drivers are moving. My goodness, We'll get a lot

(01:51):
of folks, a lot of folks from all over the
country and at times even around the world, and all
the various platforms live in archive. There's Speedy, there's Greg,
there's Adler, just as the great voice of Ken Osborn
has already trumpeted. But here we are, and you know
we we have another show man. Yeah, men, men, we

(02:12):
just keep going. Man, we have another show that. As
we've said, I think the most difficult thing if you
want to go into our Bennes, if you wanted this Benines,
probably the most difficult mountain to climb is there's another
show waiting tomorrow. There it is. There's another show waiting Monday.
There's another show waiting Tuesday. There's another show waiting Wednesday.

(02:34):
There's another show waiting Thursday. How many shows have we
done just this year? Adler? I saw your number the
other day and I forgot it's it's over three hundred.
It seems now we are une. Yeah, where did I
say that? Maybe that's something we've done so many things?

Speaker 2 (02:52):
One sixty seven?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Yeah, yeah, I was closed I was halfway there. It
feels that way. We've done five hundred. I think when
you think about the fact the show actually runs twice
a day and all the other things we do, it's
somewhere around three.

Speaker 2 (03:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Can you remember the guy that remembered that made the donuts? Yes,
to make the donuts every morning he made hiss ouf
at the door the donut. Now, let me tell you
what was funny. And we do this sometimes, uh at home,
and you know, because our sweet little wives just they're
just so precious and and so.

Speaker 3 (03:22):
Rare.

Speaker 1 (03:23):
But it does happen sometimes, you know, rarely, sometimes they'll
wake up enough to converse with you while we're going
to work. And so today for some reason, I don't
know what had happened, but she she was awake, and
so I clock goes off and she starts pushing me,
you know when the clock goes off, you know, and
at least get up and he and I tap it.

(03:43):
So she does a little sweetie and I tap the clock.
She has a little sweetie and she says, oh, she said,
come here, let me snow you one more time. I said, baby,
let me go, I gotta go do America's favorite radio
show again, don't start that. I gotta do America's waiting.
Yeah so, uh so, anyway, here we are and the
after of yesterday, the Yesterday's show. Look, our job is

(04:05):
to do a good show every day, not to do
a good show then live off it the rest of
the week. We got that, but there's always shows that
will stand out. And according to the response yesterday Yesterday's show,
if you have not caught it yet, either on the
YouTube archive or on the podcast archive, the audience is

(04:27):
telling you, not just us because we think you should
listen to every show. They're saying, you can't miss it,
you can. You got to go back. There's no way
to bring it back. There's no way to discuss it.
When I do the Hey Burgess today, fifty percent are
commenting on yesterday. Half the email yesterday was just wrapped

(04:47):
around that in the aftermath and the soap opera of that.
We really have no documentation that Larry and Carolyn ever
made it back to Dublin, Georgia.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
No, and I didn't want to bother that they were.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
We don't know.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
They kind of headed on back and and uh I
thought about because Terry even asked me, and I'll have
to tell you what what we did yesterday late afternoon.
It made me think of Greg. But she said, have
you checked on them? And I'm like, no, I don't
want to bother them. I would think if there's a problem,
they would reach out, because I know Larry.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Would, you would.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
And I'm surprised, and I said, I and you know.
One of the reasons why because they have one phone
and they get lost. And I said, Larry, do you
get distracted and and like and stopped and stop the
like the maps directions and and he's like, and I'm like,
I think you do. And so I thought, well, if
I call him that now, that phone's going to ring
and they're using it for directions. So I didn't want

(05:41):
to bother them, so I didn't. And Adler, by the way,
I want to thank the audience because they told me
I needed to do something on my Instagram story and
I did. You can make your your and this is
where Greg's gonna get You can make your Instagram story highlights,
and so I highlighted the entire Larry being at our

(06:02):
house and behind the scenes here and so on my
profile it's there. I should have done that when I
went and visited them, and I just forgot about it
and didn't do it and I waited too late. So
if you just click it, says Larry and Carolyn, You
click on that, and it's the entire story of their
visit here and from our house to be us picking
them up to them being here.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
At the show. Yeah, that way, you don't you don't
lose it. You don't lose it. Cherry talked we went
on some trip or something, yeah, and she was like, oh,
you need to make that highlight. Yeah, And I'm like,
I don't know what you mean, but I'm learning all this. Yeah,
let me show you. And of course I don't remember
how she did it, so there's no way I could
do it. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Yeah, so I did. So it's there. So it's it's
there and doesn't go away.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
If you there forever, you know it's there.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
It's there, it's not it is uh, it's something else too.
You get lost in it because it's just me trying
to document them.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
Yep. And their interaction here with the staff was great too.
Somebody says they did interact with them. I guess on
the YouTube chat maybe or somewhere. Larry and Carolyn we
think made it home at ten thirty Georgia time.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
That's insane, right, it really is. I mean that means
it's nine thirty Central PM, which I probably means that
it took them nine to ten hours to get home.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
I don't get that they're not the best at following instructions.
God loved them, so I'm glad they made it back.
That's good news. Also in sleep end of the day,
we did have an uncomfortable moment yesterday when a caller
has received a temporary ban a Diesel. Because sometimes this
phone system, even though we're doing unscreen phone calls, has

(07:36):
a memory, and if you're a frequent caller or you've
called just recently, it remembers you. So I can see
some names, not always it's usually a combination of name,
and then some days you can't see anybody's name. I
can't describe that. But yesterday I didn't know that it
was Diesel who called, and he was inappropriate and he
is now owning it. Which this is the way he

(07:57):
is mad about the time he is he said this.
Here's what he said up in here's what he said.
Good morning men, this is Diesel. I would like to
apologize for my comment I made on unscreen phone calls yesterday,
and this is what Greg talks about. It was a
it was a very bad comment about the way Bama
played the first week, because we know how important that is.
And he said, I let my emotions get the best

(08:17):
of me. It was unprofessional. I fully understand the band.
I want to say to y'all that I am sorry
and I love the show. You know what.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
That's very it's a very emotional situation right now at
the time. But I told him to calm down. It's
one game and they're probably gonna win. The whole thing
you did Yestersir Greg predicted an Alabama national championship. We
had to do something because the Bama fans have come apart.
We can't even take phone calls.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
You can't. Honestly, I believe Diesel knows better than to
do that. But he just couldn't help it. He just
could not. And the day before we had similar The
Bama fans right now are being they're saying so many
horrible things on the calls that we can't this guys,
It's gonna be all right, right and Diesel, Diesel, thank
you for being mad enough to understand the situation. Appreciate you,

(09:02):
but and you're you're a no call now for you know,
for the next six weeks. Six six weeks, six weeks?
Really good, great six weeks. Man, Wow, Diesel thought he
came back with would get a little lenient. Yeah, what
about the other guy cuss? Well, I'd like him to
have six more games. I'll see if mamma can turn around.
For I started taking calls. That's a good point give them.

(09:25):
If they can get to six and one, we'll go
back to call. Oh wow, all right. So some people
are saying they did not take the interstate. Yeah, a
lot of row construction. Who knows who's these people?

Speaker 4 (09:43):
That's that's snookeems who took him.

Speaker 1 (09:44):
To watch the week Snoopers doesn't know. No, I don't know.
It was snookems. Okay, that's right there, Greg, Yeah, I
can't say got my glasses on. Okay.

Speaker 2 (09:55):
The comments are said that only the only person allowed
to cuss on the radio is Greg Wick show.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
Things to talk about coming up this weekend. I was
looking for college football fans as we just talked about that,
and Bama fans are so upset. We've had two different
people now have to be dumped and one be banned
from calls just because they're venting their frustration, got too
much of Batman. And as the people were saying, you know,
there's some We're not prudes by any stretch. As a

(10:28):
matter of fact, as men of God, it probably would
serve us better if we would be a little more
prudish at times.

Speaker 6 (10:34):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
And there's things that you know, we we get a
little rough sometimes and we look back on. But the
things you're hearing getting to getting dumped would not even
be in that world. These are things that like everybody goes, Yeah,
none of us want to hear that, so so so, yeah,
make sure it's on the list of words that can
you know, well, you know that most people and back

(10:54):
when the FCC had power, you would have to you
would get in trouble over so and some of you
have played forms that we can't dump it. So y'all
hear it anyway, So sorry about that. But anyway, all right, So,
but looking looking at the weekend, and I was a
little concerned because I do enjoy football, you know, because

(11:15):
I'll be at I'll be in Alabama tomorrow at Tinglewood Festival.
That's right. I keep forgetting about it. Garry says he's
coming by the way we can. He said, Hey, I'm
gonna come over at Dangle Bears thing Tingle Tingle it is.
So that's that's. Uh, that's tomorrow eleven to three. Uh,

(11:35):
eleven to eleven to three. Are you going to be
there eleven I'll be there eleven to four hours, four
hours eleven really, yes, I needed to confirm what I
thought I heard gripping and grinned a four hours. I
don't know when, well, well, you know, our friends for
our friends at American Village, the partnership I got. I

(11:58):
don't think they're for me. I don't think they're familiar
with our ways in the norm in the norm of
a in the world of radio, when you go to
an appearance, usually the max is three and the preferredest too,
two is now standing. But again they they are have
on board and it's a festival. Yeah, and Incentenial it's

(12:19):
not that simmy quinctina. I had to I've got another
thing I need to follow up on because I was
talking to Melanie, who is kind of my contact there
with this partnership, and she said, uh, anytime you want
to post any on this day in history, as we
celebrate America. You can get those off our Facebook page today.

(12:40):
I have to uncomfortably tell her I'm not on Facebook,
right so uh so, yeah, I'll have to thank somebody else's.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
And this is just trying to help give me that information.

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Things that you've committed to, let me know and I'll
help put.

Speaker 6 (12:53):
Them on.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
That No, I will tell you this honestly, and this
is there's as much as you what's your sage one
hundred percent correct cover But American Village, they're not accustom
to the system, and I'm having to teach them the system.
Huh And and honestly, again, I didn't get the details
about this. I was asked about it weeks ago. I

(13:18):
wasn't given any details about it till Thursday, I mean
until you till Tuesday. Till Tuesday forgotten and I'd forgotten
about it, okay. And but here's the thing, Well, you
did such a good job. I'm going to connect you
with her and say we would put these things on
our website if we could just get a lay them out,
if we would just know.

Speaker 5 (13:40):
My favorite thing since we had this partnership again, which
is great because if you if you don't want to
celebrate the Americas.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
Zudio. You're great, but Simmy Quincington. Oh okay, but when
Rick was on the porch talking with that lantern beside,
that's your favorite to this point over the North of July. Yeah,
by himself. I'm just produced, by the way. You know

(14:07):
what that was. I'm down here fishing. Let me do this. Yeah.
So uh and so that that's You'll see some more
of that, especially next year. Boy, I'm gonna be I'm
gonna be Uncle Sam because that's the This is about
a good bud text nation. Will Sherry be with you
there tomorrow? There's a chance she did ask me about it.

(14:29):
She likes that kind of thing, So maybe it just
depends on how the day is going. Of course, if
she comes up means Gary want hey, she gonna be there?
I don't know, you know, because because then it's scared well,
because then when Gary comes, he has to be on
his p's and q's, you know, being on your p's
and q's not a Gary thing. He's not. It's not that,

(14:51):
it's not that. One thing I've noticed too is poor
Gary he's been drugged into this this world of that
we live in and and and Gary struggle with anonymous
people dogging you, as most people should. But if you
get into this business, especially in the era of social media,
there's people gonna rip on you, and you really you can't.

(15:13):
You just gotta let it, you know. From time to time,
I'll interact with people privately if they want, truly would
like to know answers, and then if I find out
they're unreasonable, then I just you know, I'm done with it.
I've noticed that Gary will engage that that can they
don't like the show or don't like him on the
show or whatever. Hey, some of y'all out there, though,

(15:35):
let me just say this, and I know, God love you.
You know, you're just you have a right to your opinion.
Of course, it'd be great if you had an informed opinion,
but that's not necessary. And don't let don't let facts,
you know, get in the way of trying to be truthful.
But let me face but those of those of you
that were hoping this would be a failure, you got

(15:57):
to give up on that. Okay, it's a success. Uh,
it's going to continue to be a success. Uh and uh,
and we're probably going to do this until we're done
doing it and so it's going well. And I know
that's broke some of your hearts. And it's okay for
you to love what we did in the past, because
we certainly do, but also love what we're doing now.

(16:18):
Love what all the other guys, including Bubba that we're
on the show, what they're doing now. You can really
love it all. And I know you want it to
be some sort of war or something and you want
blood and guts, and you just you've tried so hard
now for you know this, this announcement that we were
going to do something new was made a year and
eight months ago. It's probably time for you to enjoy

(16:39):
what we're doing. And then if you don't, then then
you know, that's fine. But but the hoping and praying
and taking shots and and hoping this is going to
be a failure, you got to give up on that, Okay,
that that's not going to happen for you. I'm so
sorry you were really sorry. Yeah, I'm sorry. This is
successful and is going to continue to be successful. So
if if that was the ending that you were hoping for,

(17:02):
you gotta let that go. Okay. So, and for those
of you that are just encouraging us every single day
and loving what we did in the past and also
loving what we're doing now, including loving what Bubba's doing now,
and and so that's that's probably the best place to be,
the healthiest place to be, and we sure are thankful
for that. And then new people that have come on

(17:25):
board and just said, hey, I because of all these
new platforms, I don't know what y'all did in the past,
but I like what you're doing now. So whatever the
case may be, those of you that encourage us and
are part of what we do, we're grateful for you.
Those of you that continue to try to tear down man,
it's like you're drinking poison expecting us to die. It's

(17:45):
just not gonna happen. It's only going to hurt you.
We'll be back bottom of the hour, all right. So
looking at the weekend, we had the Cowboys a little
football Cowboys Eagles last night. Nobody's talking about the game,
even though the Eagles didn't win. It seems like the

(18:06):
Cowboys were competitive, though a lot of people thought they
might get whack. So that was good if you're a
Cowboys fan. Uh, but it's been overshadowed by this spitting incident.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
Well yeah, yeah, I mean, I mean before a snap
was even made. I mean it was so you had
the kickoff. The Eagles kicked off to the to the Cowboys,
and uh and then during the kickoff, someone got hurt
for the Eagles, which is sad because it looked like
it's a season ending knee. Survey got the play and
he got hurt last year or too. And so while

(18:35):
it was they were all sitting there hanging out, both
offensive defense kind of started jawing a little bit, and
then the referees kind of threw a flag and said, hey, y'all, chill,
you know. And then Dak kind of stepped out of
the offensive huddle, and Jalen called.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
Because I know you're in first name basis that Dak
Prescott Okay, the quarterback for the Cowboys. Yeah, I know
it's from state, and I got you very you.

Speaker 7 (19:00):
Know, uh yeah, yeah, friends, and so, uh so, my
buddy Dak stepped out of the offensive huddle and Jalen
cart who some say is the best defensive lineman in
in the the NFL, defensive tackle.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
He walks forward towards the offense and spitz Alugi into
Dak's chest and referee standing right there and goes, what
are you doing and threw a flag and they threw
him out of the game. He had to leave the field. Wait, man,
so he didn't play one snap, not one snap there,
not one snap.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
Hocked the one right on his way to them.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
I think there's there's just a story. You can see
the face. He has no idea why he didn't know.
He didn't. He doesn't.

Speaker 4 (19:42):
He was even interviewed like, did he say something was
there where you just caught up in the moment you
just of rage, you just ready to go, And he goes, no,
actually that's kind of calm. I don't know why I
did it.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Well, I mean, guys, there you know how there's the
controversy controversy in Star Wars that Han Solo shot first, Well,
Dak spit first if you go early, but he's farther
away and and but nobody people are.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
You can't speak about Dak Prescott.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Now just saying in in in the postgame interview, if
he was would have spit on him, he would have said, well, Dak.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
Spent on me. I was retaliating. He didn't say that.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Ready, here comes the spit from Dak boom in the
he could have gotten he's.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Gotten some some spread. He grinned about it.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
A second spin her watch da speaking watch in the huddle,
the Jalen just eye for an eyem.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
Dak Prescott spit. He spent on the ground in the huddle.
He spent out into the ground in the laughter.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Yes, what's that?

Speaker 1 (20:46):
What does that mean?

Speaker 8 (20:47):
Ye?

Speaker 1 (20:47):
The smile you just spent on?

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, he got it shrapnel, some shrapnel.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
But he was he was five yards away, magic log.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Can I call the obvious here though? Can I call
this up?

Speaker 9 (21:03):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (21:04):
Hold on now, spitting on it? Is that one of
the worst things you could do to somebody is spit
on it.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
The way they did it, it didn't Now when Romanowski
did it and got in all that trouble. I mean
he spent like in the guy's face.

Speaker 4 (21:15):
Yeah, Now, I don't say this. It was a good
old loogi though.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
But what I'm saying is what's weird about it, which
is why the guys was weird. After the game. It
did not look like they were in some heated argument. No, no,
they weren't. Dak Prescott is smiling at him. Yeah, they
walk up and start talking to each other. Then he
spits on his chest. They weren't screaming at each other
at each other. Yeah, that's crazy. Yeah, I don't know
why it was. These are pros. They're like punching the clock,

(21:41):
going to work. It's not a big deal. It was
dumb what he did, but what a weird way to
start the season. But anyway, so they I think, if
you don't spit in their face, it's legal, right, I agree?
Uh below the next on your chest? Feel, Hey, where
are we in here? We had on football? Yes, that's right.

Speaker 8 (22:00):
Heeded.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
The battling here a little different. We'll get away with
it on football. Now. Let me tell you, if you
do it, I'm gonna stay in the game. You're gonna
dread the next snap. But yeah, there you go. But
so basically they were kind of almost I'm cutting up.
You don't know what he said? Yeah, yeah, and like
him going, I don't know why I did.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
He probably was liked he was like what he was like,
what just happened?

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Like? Why did I do that? He's sitting back in
the locker room. Now, I will tell you this. If
the quarterback spits on me like that, though, he's gonna
hear from me too, but he didn't spit on it.
He did. We just watched it, but he was in
the huddle and then smile.

Speaker 4 (22:37):
If he let's just being about.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
The show to be accurate.

Speaker 4 (22:45):
If he would have spit at him, he would have
spit on his offensive lineman who was standing in between it.
It did go out, he went on the ground and
then he smiled.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
He would yeah, yeah, take that. Ye again it was
a little trash talking look. But again man that because
he got him to spit in front of the referee.
And of course that again one of the best defenders
kicked out of the y smart matter smart strategy on DK.

(23:16):
Yeah it mattered. That is still losing. Can I call
him back? Even though because my son is.

Speaker 4 (23:21):
One of those names that it's it's just that it's
you say that, it's just.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
One of those he goes by that. You don't go
about Dak Presstcott, right, or he goes by Dak. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
I mean if you say Aaron, I mean most people
know you tell I know you guys Peyton Manning, really
really Peyton pay Most people say Peyton.

Speaker 1 (23:41):
I always saying, I always say Manning. You don't never
say Peyton.

Speaker 2 (23:46):
Is that Peyton Manning, I would say that, I would
say that, would you pay Manning?

Speaker 1 (23:50):
Urgency?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
And now I know you guys want to dig into
what I was referencing earlier with Star Wars of course,
So in the nineteen seventy seven original High Solo shoots
Gredo first. In the twenty nineteen when when they put
it on Disney Plus they actually changed it. You can
see above this is the seventy seven original Han clearly

(24:12):
clearly shoots first, and in the seventies and then in
the Disney Plus version they added it to make it
look like he didn't but he did.

Speaker 1 (24:21):
Who would know that he? So you cleared that up,
So thank you. So Dak's out.

Speaker 4 (24:25):
Yeah, so first, but I gotta go back to the
spinner Jalen. In the after the game, they asked him
why he did it, and he said, I don't know.
I just I mean, I was calm and everything else.
If Dak would have spit on him, he would have said, well,
he spit on me.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
No, he was. He didn't want to make Dak Prescott
Luke bad. He said, I should have done what I did,
and I'm taking on the ship. Oh he's really That's
where because there's so much of that. Everybody takes responsibility
for their own actions, right you know that? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Uh, tom u Oka was saying last names like we
we said to Tom Brady, we would always say Brady.

Speaker 1 (25:04):
Absolutely. Yeah, that's the way men.

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Different is.

Speaker 10 (25:10):
The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Super excited to bring this one to you. I love
this new product and you're gonna love it too.

Speaker 8 (25:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Look there there is Uh. Some things are to be simple,
but but there it does matter. I'm gonna talk to
you about tea, and I love tea. Uh, some leaves,
some hot water. You think that's all there is, but
there's so much more. Okay, Uh, leave it to China
and Big Farman to mess this up. Now. Most of
the tea you grab off the shelf is full of microplastics,

(25:46):
heavy metals, who knows what else, And you might as
well be steeping a tire in your mug. Let me
tell you about Kindred Harvest. Sherry and I had we
had friends over the other night. We were drinking Kindred Harvest.
We have gotten all their different flavors and we're trying them.
This tea is done the right way. It is clean,

(26:09):
it is all natural, it's blended impact right here in
the United States of America. There's no toxins, there's no microplastics.
Every batch tested by third parties. Even the bags are biodegradable.
There's no glue, there's no ink, none of that garbage.
Just honest to goodness tea. They've got something for everybody.

(26:31):
Pick me up in the morning, caffeine free at night,
even iced tea. The kids will drink and you don't
have to worry about what's hiding in it. So don't
drink some poison from China. Support American values, American quality,
and take care of your family. Sherry and I are
drinking this tea. We love it. You're gonna love it.
We like trying all the new flavors. We love dining

(26:54):
with friends and having some of the tea together. Go
to Kindredharvest dot co. Use the code rick for twenty
percent off. That's Kindred Harvest dot Co. Promo code rick
to get twenty percent off Kindred Harvest. You're gonna love it.
Cultivating Goodness Daily. I'm not gonna say his name. I

(27:18):
don't I'm not gonna do that. I'm just saying that
there was a moment post show yesterday when I was confused,
and I thought that the police had come to a Wrestlery, okay,
we'll leave it at that. I most shows. You should
have been where I was most shows. You know, this
doesn't happen very often. But what you don't know is

(27:40):
that minutes prior to that it started. Well, see, I
didn't know that because I was really weird. You had
taken I think show Hunt Jack to the bathroom.

Speaker 2 (27:50):
Okay, show hunted Jack.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Jack was with me. He wants to go on the
show a hunt with the show. Remember he's got to
keeps calling saying, I go hunt. We all want to
go unt y'all want to go hunt.

Speaker 2 (28:01):
Y'all know that, But that's what show hunt means.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Yes, he wants to go on a show hunt with us. Yes,
show Hunt Jack. Yeah, he's so so all. There was
some confusion afterwards, speedy, and all I'm focused is we're
trying to get Greg. Was there confusion to carry Larry
and Carolyn back to their hotel and load up all

(28:25):
the frames, and then Greg said I don't have enough
room in my truck because Greg has a his strutch
a little bit afraid of mine, and because it's not
as big and so so he said, can I use
your truck? All this is going on, so I've left
anybody else that has been a guest here yesterday. I've
totally focused that. The only people we're now dealing with

(28:48):
is Larry and Carolyn. And then you thought, yeah, And
then I encounter you in the lobby with no no
heads up, no anything, and you say, the police are here,
and here he goes, and and and they and they
and they they there can't there's a problem. And I go, good, gosh,

(29:10):
what else am I supposed to think? I think it's
tied to Larry. Well, that was the gentleman.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
The gentleman went to the bathroom with you and Larry
and I and I pointed to him and told you,
but I know Larry, Yeah, it was Larry. And you
say the other guy and Carolyn, because Larry wasn't there going.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
To walk off without She's in the bathroom. I'm not
leaving her.

Speaker 4 (29:30):
Well, so we we can we can backtrack and let
you know up to that point how it played out.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
And and then just explaining why I thought Larry was
possibly on the lamb.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Did you forget the other guy went to the bathroom
with you because he was standing outside the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Well there's that. What I'm saying is you you didn't say, hey, Rick,
that guy. You just came in and said, the police
a right here. And I said, are we in trouble?
You should know? And you said, well, somebody in trouble.
And they said, yes, what I started with that guy?
And I pointed you I hadn't heard. No. I didn't, Yeah,
because because then at the.

Speaker 4 (30:03):
Point I'm talking, Larry's coming out of the bathroom going
la Carolyn, you know.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
And so so I think the police have been searching
for Larry and now we have delivered him to the law, which.

Speaker 4 (30:15):
Would have been a great And so you came running
back in thinking that I told I told Adler, I
think Larry may possibly be on the lamb and somebody
saw him on TV and somebody saw.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
Him in here. So you are the whole time you
walked back, you never did I think that they were
about to arrest somebody else. I thought it was for them.

Speaker 2 (30:35):
And then going back to his hitch hiking days, which
he heard back Larry, Larry went on a killing spree.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
That's what.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Because Rick comes in here, he says, the laws after Larry,
he showed his face publicly, and now they know who
he is.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
And my story that I had that I wove together,
you wish people were killed? Did you hear me not killed?
The narrative that I mistakenly wove's plausible.

Speaker 4 (31:01):
I thought it, well, that might be that. And let's
just say we're talking about this other other gentleman. I mean,
everybody's presumed innocent until Yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Of course we don't. We don't know how it played out.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
All we know, he said.

Speaker 4 (31:16):
We look out there and there is a police car
there with an animal control vane. Greg and I are
holding stacks of patches trying to put him in the
back of your truck. And the officer is hollering, yeah,
where's the guy that drives this truck?

Speaker 1 (31:33):
And We're like, what are you talking about? My truck?

Speaker 4 (31:37):
Another truck, another truck, and we'll update.

Speaker 10 (31:41):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
So so at this point we're trying to guy, well he.

Speaker 4 (31:54):
Did, I think, I think we we we don't know
how how it worked out, yeah, and and and all that.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
What we know that.

Speaker 4 (32:05):
There was a request made from an officer and animal
control to get a guy that was in the building
that day.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
They needed to talk to and we didn't know what
was going to while holding patches. Don't forget that. Yeah,
but you know, I bet in his mind he's going,
what are they caring all them? Please try to be
law enforcement and for some reason apparently animal control. I
thought the guy was human. I didn't know. And so
somebody was here with the pocket for with a pocket

(32:37):
full of patches for Larry, right man. Larry was very
we no good deed goes unpunished. We we allowed, we
allowed this person access to let Larry have his patches. Larry,
of course wanted every patch he could possibly cure, you know,
and gather. How many patches can Peter popper pick I

(32:58):
don't know, but anyway, so I don't think there's a limit.
Apparently law enforcement and animal control had an issue with
this person. We don't know what happened. We hope it
all worked out. But the story is the confusion at
the time this was happening, and at one point I

(33:19):
thought Larry was possibly on the lamb, which would have
been a great and y'all interacting with law enforcement also,
I'm sure confused a little bit. As you're loading frames
of patches into the back of my truck, you hear
whose truck is this? Praise God, they weren't asking about
my truck, are Larry? It ended up being a person

(33:43):
that randomly stopped by. You know, probably not the best
judgment on our part, but we you know, we thought, hey, uh,
this person just wants to give patches. Yeah he was.
He seemed harmless, well according to law enforcement Animal Shelter,
but well not our assessment. Well, a little fla something
was up. Yeah, we were. It was a little flawed.

(34:05):
We don't know what happened. We're helping lots of paperwork
being officers.

Speaker 4 (34:09):
Seemed a little upset. Yeah, yeah, And and they stayed
out there for a while. He eventually was able to leave.
Uh yeah, I did.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
So no stuff and cuffing stuff, No, not that I saw.
Now I did. Let's go back, all right. I pull up.

Speaker 4 (34:23):
I got Larry and Carolyn with me, trying to get
in the door. And there there were some listeners out
that wanted to meet him, showing Jack being one of them,
and this other gentleman and and and they were like,
hey can we come in blah blah blah.

Speaker 1 (34:35):
I'm like, well, look, we got a lot going on.

Speaker 4 (34:37):
They got to go on air in three or for
a minute, let's let everything get settled and then and
then we'll try to work y'all in if we can.
It was just being you know, and they were very nice. Okay,
we'll be out in there and each you know, they
didn't know each other. Uh, we'll be out in the
cars chilling out and waiting. And then we went out.
You remember we took the zoom out to see Adler's
Bad Bad a van.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
Remember that sweet. We didn't know were that.

Speaker 4 (35:00):
Is in good That's what I meant, Yes, sweet, it's sweet.
And they came in when we came in and sat
down and joy show, enjoyed the show, and so everybody's cordial.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
And and they go to leave, we go.

Speaker 4 (35:13):
To walk up and yeah and and uh and so
I'll say anything, won't we?

Speaker 1 (35:20):
And so then we get the We get the wave
from the officers, hey he's neverhood, where's the guy that
drives this truck? Well showing Jack's walking out and he says, hey,
the other guy or whatever they're asking for him, and
then he leaves, and and so I screamed back, are
we safe for we? Okay? Because I don't know why

(35:41):
they're hollering for him, I'm like, what do you need?
Why you need in this guy? It's not something we
see every day. You know that somebody's law enforced. I
won't say that we've never seen me, the guy that's
in this truck, I won't say that we've never seen.
It's just not a lot. It's just not a lot.

Speaker 4 (35:55):
So uh So, Greg and I were trying to finish
up with getting pases in the back of the truck,
and so I'm like, I'll go I'll go find him.
So I come in here, and right before we went out,
you knew we were slammed, and you said, Larry's got
to go to the bathroom. I'll walk him towards the bathroom,
and they were going to use the bathroom be where
they left. Well, I guess this. This guy walked with y'all.

(36:16):
And when I walked back out to the lobby to
try to find y'all, he was standing there waiting. I
guess he wrapped up first, and I said, hey, someone
needs you at your truck. You can go on out.
Then when you came out, that's when all the confusion happened,
and you thought they were looking for Larry.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
You tell you somebody the truck. I did, so he
was thinking.

Speaker 4 (36:33):
To me, to me, Larry, nobody needs you at the truck.
I didn't know, and he said okay, and he just
walked out.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
Will you will you admit that you sent the person
that was in trouble there's some kind of trouble out
the front door, because you're afraid he might come in
here and start screaming, I'll know y'all never get me
out of here and hunker down, take us all Austin.

Speaker 4 (36:51):
Yeah, because at the time, at the time, I didn't
know why they were asking for one of our listeners.

Speaker 1 (36:58):
No again, and I didn't know, and so I'm like, Rick,
it may have happened before, but not a lot.

Speaker 4 (37:03):
Right, And so instead of walking back through the building,
back through the restricted area, back through the studio and
just blindly sending someone through here, I'm like, go out
the front because it's actually quicker too.

Speaker 1 (37:15):
Just it's right there. Just you go out the front.

Speaker 4 (37:17):
But it was also a hidden agenda of Hey, I
don't want you back through here too, because I don't
know what's going on.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
You didn't want him to hunker down in here and
say you'll never take me a life.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
No, And then a sudden, I come in here and
he's like got Adler in a headlock or.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Something, you know. Yeah, and Larry continued to try to
thank him for the patches his law enforcement was taking. Yeah,
oh yeah, he sure did. He's true what happened, but
thanks for the patches. So apparently we don't know the
whole details. Hopefully it's fine.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
But nobody like he was some criminal they were looking
for nobody. That's not the case. Nobody got arrested. But
there was I guess some misunderstanding about anybody know why
they work.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
I do know. Why can I say it? Maybe not not,
It's that some kind of hYP of violation or something that.

Speaker 4 (38:05):
I think allegedly. Again again he's innocent until.

Speaker 1 (38:09):
They go just a man, let me be sure I
got all your card?

Speaker 4 (38:16):
Yeah, I mean, just to be full transparency. This guy,
it was a very nice guy. And and and we
had no issue with him. And there was a I
guess the disturbance out here and they were trying to
figure it out apparently maybe when when he came he
brought his pet with him or something, I think. And
then and then a couple and I think maybe in
the excitement, and I'm just giving in the excitement of

(38:39):
us waving him in. When we were coming in, he
jumped out of the truck and ran in and forgot, Hey,
the animals are in the truck.

Speaker 1 (38:47):
And somebody in the building.

Speaker 4 (38:49):
I think, called and said, hey, we got a couple
of animals in the truck out here, and and nope,
and and so they were investigating, Hey, what's going on here? Yeah,
and so it sounds like to me maybe he explained
himself and they let him go.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
I have no idea. Yeah it was. It was. Yeah,
that that explains the woman from the animal shelter weeping
in the parking lot. I will say this. When I
saw the police car and the animal control truck at
the same spot, I thought, when I saw it, did
you did you? Did you focus in on animals? I
miss saw it immediately. I missed that. Greg's always looking

(39:24):
for animal control.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
Remember, all I saw was officer waving us down, and and.

Speaker 5 (39:31):
I saw that behind him was the and then the
even the animal control guy was kind of getting like
he was offended.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
I could tell, oh, really, yeah, he didn't like it.
He didn't like it. I mean, they seemed a little angry.
They didn't seem angry. According to you, I didn't see them. No,
they did. They were very they were not happy. Yeah,
because you are we in trouble? And he said no,
but somebody is. Yeah, it's perfect something like that. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
Yeah, And I said everything is told. I actually even
said is everything okay? And the officer said no, okay.

Speaker 1 (39:58):
He did. Yeah, all that said is everything okay?

Speaker 4 (40:01):
Because again we don't know.

Speaker 5 (40:02):
And he thought somebody need to be rescued. He ran
over there, and then when he saw what it.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
Was, I just hid, you know, barricade himself in the
production again. That room pays off. You close yourself. You
got a safe room.

Speaker 4 (40:15):
I want I wanted to look busy, look busy.

Speaker 1 (40:18):
Yeah, I want ahead and make contact with my little
friend him standing by case we needed help. My good night, Rick.
Well you don't know what's about to happen.

Speaker 9 (40:27):
Night.

Speaker 1 (40:28):
So you Rick had so all that Larry is a fugitive. Yeah,
picture this now, because you're not We're doing all that now.
Rix come running in here telling Adler that the cops
here for Larry.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
Now, what if I got to write the story the
way I wanted it. I wanted it to be about Larry,
But in the end he was mistaken identity, but I
wish that they had seen him on there and thought
he was.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
I'm gonna say something that he's not going to be popular,
but text nations already do it. A couple of things.
Someone said, Rick, if the person was dangerous, do you
think you could have taken him? I will say that
he was. He was heavy, he had a low center
of gravity. It would not have been easy, but I
think so. Yeah, I think we got uh. The other is,
did Larry ask the police for a pat Did he

(41:11):
ever look and go, I don't have one of your
pass I guarantee you if he would have made eye contact.
I don't think he even knew any of this was
going on. He doesn't he would have asked. He asked
the exterminator for a patch when I took him back
to the hotel. Exterminator Yeah, yes, guys there, because I
thought you just said that exterminator. Yeah, yeah, they have
patches the pest control people. Okay.

Speaker 5 (41:31):
He pulled up fan of the show, Hey, you know,
recognized Larry and Carolyn and talked. At some point he
was going through the drawers and stuff on his truck
because he didn't have a patch, but Larry then asked
him does he have a shirt with the company name on?

Speaker 1 (41:45):
Are you? Are you making this up? Then he's and
he's acting like I know what he was doing. There's
no way he was gonna give him a shirt because
he probably you know, they don't want you giving your uniform. Way, No,
they don't. So he was just looking through drawers just
to make Larry happy.

Speaker 4 (41:55):
You better have to because they're gonna wear a matching shirts.

Speaker 1 (41:57):
Oh yeah, So let me make this public service announce
we are grateful for the passion of the audience, so grateful,
and without your passion, we don't have a job. It
is usually best. Another example, if you want to come
up here and watch the show, do it through the
vox seat system. The unannounced show up is not the

(42:20):
best run. And this doesn't help it. Yeah, and this
in this case, this person showed up without a plan,
and the lack of that plan got him in trouble,
you know what I mean. So it's not the best.
The random show up here is not the best play.
It's not. It doesn't work out as well, especially yeah,

(42:40):
especially if you have your dogs, will you? Yeah, you
pretty much want to be invited through the vox seat system. Hey,
can you crack a wendo? Crack wendow? Nobody cares? Well,
that's that thing about. It wasn't really planned. It was
off the spine.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
Or just bring your dogs in here with us in
the studio.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
Now, don't do that, anybody, Everybody, don't do that.

Speaker 10 (43:01):
Dog is the Rick Burger's Show.

I'm trying to search it. Do I have anywhere to land?

(44:38):
With football? I mean, we had the Cowboys and the
Eagles last night in NFL. We talked about that. We've
got Brazil tonight, Chiefs and Chargers. Chiefs and Chargers from Brazil.
This game day for you, and that's right, Yeah, Friday
night you high school? High school is supposed to be Yeah,
I went. I went last week in Georgia. Yeah, spelling.

(44:59):
Panther is playing again tonight. Greg will be there watching
the sun. So if you're going to that game tonight,
what is it? Pelham Chelsea. Yep, Okay, that'd be good
about that. So but anyway, college football this weekend. We
had so many great games over Labor Day week so
I'm looking, I'm searching. It kind of looks like IWA

(45:20):
Iowa State, big rivalry at eleven.

Speaker 4 (45:23):
Yeahes you're eleven. Maybe your bigger eleven AM game.

Speaker 1 (45:27):
We've got Kentucky Old miss is the two thirty a
b C SEC game.

Speaker 4 (45:31):
That'll be the first SEC matchup of the year. It's
a good both of them, that's true.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Then you've got yeah, because speedy loves Mississipi State, we
got Arizona State at the Mississippi State.

Speaker 4 (45:46):
Well, that's the top twelve team. That's good, and they're
coming in. They're coming into startful so that you'll give
junction will be packed.

Speaker 1 (45:52):
Okay, that'll be ESPN two six thirty Central, seventh thirty. Yeah.
And then Oabama Limon Rose playing about the same time.
That's right, big big game tonight Michigan Oklahoma. Now that's
a big yeah tonight, I mean Saturday night. Yeah, and
that's where college Game Day will be. College Game Day
will be there. So six thirty on ABC Central time,

(46:14):
seven thirty Eastern.

Speaker 4 (46:16):
And that that will be kind of that'll be an
interesting matchup, you know.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (46:20):
I think Michigan's got a young quarterback going into that
hostile environment and that does play a factor in I mean,
look at arch Manning. Yeah, I mean it goes into
Ohio State. Good night, yeah horse, she was rocking.

Speaker 1 (46:31):
And the defense you're going against was really good.

Speaker 4 (46:33):
Yeah, so that'd be interesting to see what what Oklahoma
they I heard a little bit of talk about them
about how they're excited about this year.

Speaker 1 (46:41):
So well, I'll be honest, they need to have a
good year. Yeah they do, Yeah, they do. I saw
a funny interview with did you see the head coach
of Grambling talking about them playing Ohio State? No funny,
funny funny. He said, well, you know what, we have
a great band. And he said, he said, our band
and their band should be a great game, a great competition.

(47:02):
And they said, you talking about the bands. He goes,
we all know what's gonna happen. A coach, yes, he said,
but but it's a great opportunity and we know what's
going to happen. Uh, but we love having this opportunity
to be on this stage and and uh he there
was no we're going to be giant killers or anything
like that.

Speaker 9 (47:20):
He did.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
The quote was we all know what's gonna happen, and
uh but the bands ought to be something to see. Yeah,
so uh so anyway, we uh, those are some of
the the highlights for the weekend. You've got some others
that have a little bit of interest, and of course
if you have your own team, you you you're interested
in seeing what your team's gonna do. But those seem

(47:41):
to be the more interesting matchups just if you're a fan.

Speaker 4 (47:45):
Yes, you know and game Kentucky. Kentucky. You know, they
overachieved for me for a lot of years and then
they seem to kind of hit a little lull. I'd
love to know that their fan base that you know,
it's like, okay, it's it's time now.

Speaker 1 (47:59):
And then what is on this have?

Speaker 4 (48:00):
I mean, they're expected to be really good this year,
so it'll be it'll be the first SEC matchup of
the of the season.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
And then you as you guys said, what does Oklahoma have?
What does Michigan have? Yeah, I mean that that's that'll
tell what those two programs. That's right, be good indicator
for either one, you know, one of the you can
leave that game saying all right, I feel good about
our program and where we are. You can leave there
going wow, we we haven't taken any steps forward or
we haven't returned to where we were. So it tells

(48:29):
you a lot as we go a little deeper in
and then you know, you always wait, never know. We
come back on Monday. Has there been some sort of
major upset over the weekend? And yeah, how's that affecting somebody? Happens?
Who's on the hot seat? Did anybody get off the
hot seat? Yeah? You know, yes, so we'll see. And
I have looked exhaustively about Beth Mowens. Yeah that's the

(48:54):
other thing. And she does not have a college food.
I'm so glad that she just because I don't know,
I will say this, no alarm. I want to say
this to college football fans everywhere. Those of you that
are honest, not those of you that patronize or say
what you think you're supposed to say. Those of you
out there that are honest, And this is all I'm
gonna say. You're welcome. Yeah, that's it. Do you feel

(49:18):
like I do you feel good?

Speaker 4 (49:20):
I mean, I know you felt like you were doing
a public service for everyone.

Speaker 1 (49:24):
Well, yeah, that's all you feel like. Maybe you were,
but I do I'd like to take I feel like
I probably play a role in this, and I just
want to tell everybody you're welcome, because I was speaking
for a huge number of people, and I think that
attention was brought to the disingenuous. Yeah, embracing that football

(49:52):
fans mail our female mail our female. A lot of
people on the broadcast business too, they tell you, yea,
where we take someone and we try to elevate them
somewhere that they are solely because of their gender, solely
because of their ethnicity, not on merit. And I think
that the Beth Mowens hype was disingenuous, and I think

(50:16):
the people spoke, and I think that's why you see
her doing things that she does do well but doesn't
need to be involved in college or NFL.

Speaker 2 (50:26):
I got I got an update on her. By the way,
we've been looking for her on college games that she's
been nowhere.

Speaker 1 (50:32):
To be found. Correct, Yeah, I saw her on like
professional sophomore.

Speaker 2 (50:35):
Well, the twenty twenty five NFL on CBS game announcers
have been released, okay, and you can see you got
your big you got your big time players, your Romos
and your JJ Watts, and that's you know, Jim Nance,
Tracy Wolfson, your regulars. But if you go down and
you can see down here at the bottom, Beth Mowens

(50:57):
will be doing play by play four select games in
the twenty twenty five season NFL on CV.

Speaker 1 (51:06):
She's moved up to there, Select looks, select games, just
talking about her select games that weather. But but NFL,
the NFL, frankly, is too woke for me to save.
I did all I could do for college football, which
which is the fan base that I relate to more.
I don't watch a lot of NFL. I can't save
the NFL. It's harder to overcome there. But I'll try. Okay,

(51:29):
But now will you see select games? That's still better
than on normal rotation? Right?

Speaker 9 (51:34):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (51:34):
I do want I do want to. I do want
to make this announcement. Uh, if you are a West
Virginia fan or an Ohio fan on espn U, Courtney
Lyle is going to be calling it that game that's
not going to be meth a Beth, excuse me or
meth And then uh, if Western Illinois and Northwestern tonight

(51:55):
on the Big ten Network. That's Lisa. Uh, that's that's
not Beth either. So I just wanted to make sure
those are the two female announcers. Sometimes people will go, hey, no,
that was bad.

Speaker 1 (52:05):
Yeah, that change of subjects slightly. How did Rich Rod
do Week one? West Virginia see A good question. He's
this first game back? Did they did?

Speaker 4 (52:14):
I see they were the only other roster that had
more because I think it was North Carolina they had
seventy new roster players. I mean like they totally turned
it over. I think West Virginia same way.

Speaker 1 (52:27):
Yeah. Oh wow, you can do it. You can get
your brand new team. I think that's what I heard.
But I know that I know that one. Juliette Tango,
our friend j T Going is going to the games,
okay next week because his son is on staff. I
don't know if he's going this week. Are they playing
this week?

Speaker 4 (52:42):
But yes, yeah West Virginia Ohio game.

Speaker 1 (52:45):
Yeah, but he's he's not going to this one, I
don't think. But he is going to play Robert Morris.

Speaker 2 (52:50):
Yeah, they killed him last Saturday. Yeah, and they played
like speed said Ohio Tomorrow at three, West.

Speaker 11 (52:56):
Virginia, man.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
Take me home.

Speaker 2 (53:02):
Countrue Ruby knows every word of that song. By the way,
Oh right, I'm not trying to brag.

Speaker 1 (53:08):
Not're not trying to brag. We'll be back. Stay close.
That's Lisa Byington. It was her name. Okay, unscreen phone
calls coming your way now. Uh so let's let's fire
him up. So reading it and doing the emphasis on

(53:29):
the name Denzel versus Denzel, it was it's hard to
do that showing the different emphasis. So here is here
is exactly uh what Denzel Washington better known as Denzel Washington,
said to Jimmy Kimmel. Here, here's the here's him saying
it real quick themselves after me, because wait a minute,

(53:52):
because my name's not pronounced Denzel. My name's pronounced Denzel.
Oh I'm Denzil Junior. However, yeah, so what he said,
what he said he was Denzil. And then his mama
got tired of the confusion of him being named after
his dad and other people in the family named that,
so she said, you're gonna be Denzel. So he said,
he said, really, it's my mama's fault that the emphasis.

(54:15):
It's like Tarrell and Terrell. Correct, we get that. Next
there are you Are you okay with it? Now? I
hear it now? Yeah? Tarrell and Trail like Greg Karrell Owens,
but we all say, Trail, all right, what do we
do when this thing isn't working? Is it? There? We go?
There we go? Rickrown, calm, everybody, just breathe.

Speaker 4 (54:38):
Look at his egg, right, gets his more, Jimmy Dean,
he should be good now. Yeah, that thing gets pushed
back in it.

Speaker 1 (54:45):
This doesn't it? This is so much over here, Yeah,
so much over here. Greg didn't care that I have
a lot over here, and he gives me hard time
about it. Hello, you're on the Rick Birders showing screen
phone calls. Go ahead, Hey mom, uh yeah, sure.

Speaker 6 (55:01):
All right, hey, uh quick question? So I want I
want you guys to help me figure out if I'm
crazy or not. Okay, So I'm a uh speaking I
heard while I go on the show where you're talking
about people not really knowing scripture, asking about where this
stuff is biblical? So speaking of things that aren't biblical?
Have you seen Liberty University Football's new tagline? Their new tagline,

(55:25):
if you'll go look at their Facebook page, says it's striking.
It's called strike the Stone and so if you if
you for me, when I hear strike the Stone, I
hear Old Testament, Moses striking the stone. That's what's keeping
him out of the Promised Land. But it's now the
new tagline that they're using to put on like merchandise

(55:51):
and things like that. I'm just am I crazy? Am
I am? I losing my mind? And that's why I played.
That's my olmer miter. I played football.

Speaker 1 (55:59):
Yeah, I don't think that would make you crazy either way. Now,
I know they don't mean it that way, but I
understand the first time that you said that if it
was something that's supposed to be with our faith, if
I see strike the Stone, that seems to be a
negative since that was disobedient by Moses. I know that's
not how they intended. I don't know how they intended.

(56:21):
I'm sure I need to know more, but I understand
that if you saw that with a Christian university, especially
when that's been you know, pretty aggressively Christian, that would
be the thing you would think of. But I know
that's not how they intended. But yes, if I was
at a meeting, I would say, now I want to
talk about strike the Stone. You know, that was actually
a negative in scripture, so we better be clear on

(56:45):
what we're saying and not saying. But I don't know
what they were.

Speaker 2 (56:48):
Here's an example of the post looking to strike the
stone this weekend.

Speaker 4 (56:53):
And it comes from when coach Chadwell was talking to
the team. They were performing poorly and he said that, hey,
we're about to reveal a lot of character how we
respond the team mentality. You need to push through this
difficult circumstance and push through the stone. Strike the stone,
I should say, And so that kind of became something
they adopted, and it was just a speech to the team.

Speaker 1 (57:15):
Now, yes, saying if everybody hits the stone, we can
break through it, right, but just to push hash the
struggles and overcome the Yeah. I got all that, But
I do understand where the caller was saying. I don't know,
if you're a Christian university you want to be saying,
let's go ahead and strike the stone. I think it's
the same person that came up with the mascot the Flames,
right right, isn't that their mascot even though they have

(57:37):
an eagle. But yeah, I'm just saying, yeah, there's no
I don't know if I win, nothing wrong with it.
But I was like, yeah, really both of these have
have good connotations. But you do have to understand when
you go, this is a marketing tool out of the world.
You know, you got to look for aris going. Well,
some people may think we're saying something else, you know,
So there you go. But now you're not crazy. I mean,

(57:59):
certainly nothing, but but they don't mean it that way.

Speaker 8 (58:01):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (58:01):
We continue Rick Berger's show. Unscreen phone calls go ahead.

Speaker 6 (58:06):
Yeah, I just wanted to, Uh, oh, Stevey's wife.

Speaker 12 (58:10):
You have old Larry backroub.

Speaker 6 (58:11):
But she used to do Addler.

Speaker 2 (58:14):
That's never happened.

Speaker 4 (58:15):
My wife never gave Steve's wife speed Steve.

Speaker 1 (58:19):
I couldn't under who Steve. He never gave. She never
gave Adler a background and who's Steve?

Speaker 2 (58:24):
And she didn't give Larry a BackRub?

Speaker 1 (58:26):
Yeah I don't remember that. Yeah, yeah, and who is
Steve's wife? We continue, unscreenphone got in trouble the dog,
Greg unscreenphone.

Speaker 13 (58:40):
Talking already quiet in one week and I ain't even
near bussy.

Speaker 14 (58:45):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (58:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 12 (58:50):
Now this time I just said all that love that
was in the studio yesterday.

Speaker 13 (58:53):
I just want to take time to wish my bride
Peggy Sue way to happy thirty fifth anniversary.

Speaker 1 (58:58):
There you go, thank you. First thought over why in
the bath Rick Burgess showing phone calls go ahead? I
wish did this morning?

Speaker 13 (59:05):
Warning villas, Hey buddy, hey, just kind of concerned for
Greg got that mark on his head and he's not
sure about it. Hey, buddy, it's it's okay. If you're
in a abusive relationship, you grab you know, too much
of that Bluebell money and Lisa got upset.

Speaker 1 (59:22):
You know, No, I'm fine, I'm now. People are when
you have these kind of confusion campaigns. Somebody said, now, technically,
the first time Moses struck the stone, it was it
was he was right. He was supposed to speak to it.
The second time and he struck it. Folks, see why
have why have things that everybody has to discussion?

Speaker 8 (59:43):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (59:43):
Did you you're run on the field going we're striking
the stone like the first time Moses did it when
it was not the second time. Is that him running out? Yeah,
that's him running out. Good. It's playing to the ground.
Strike the stone when it was okay, it was the
wrong thing. I mean, yeah, he's tired a little lot of breath.

(01:00:04):
I don't know. He's been working at it a little better.
He got on the swing. Should have sent me on
the roller. Yesterday, we continue, Rick Bird, just show unscreen
phone calls. Go ahead.

Speaker 12 (01:00:15):
Hey, I was gonna just tell you if that guy
would have tried to attack y'all yesterday, y'all are safe
because Adler knows jiu jitsu, so he.

Speaker 6 (01:00:21):
Could just lay there.

Speaker 2 (01:00:22):
On the floor.

Speaker 6 (01:00:23):
Yeah, the ground, y'all.

Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
Good. Sit down, sir, Sit down, sir. Yeah, get down
here with me. I do what I can do.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
And wrap my legs around his head, you know, wrap
my legs around it.

Speaker 12 (01:00:32):
Have real good.

Speaker 1 (01:00:33):
I want that.

Speaker 9 (01:00:34):
Rick.

Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
Do you see that comment about the first strike of
the stone versus the second strike of the stone. Is
that accurate? Did you? Did you mention that?

Speaker 1 (01:00:41):
Are you kidding? Where have you been?

Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
I've been googling stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:00:44):
Yeah. When he was running.

Speaker 2 (01:00:47):
Okay, the first time versus the second.

Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
My whole bit was around there. Okay, okay, you should
be running in place. Yes, it's all about that. I
thought he just lost his message.

Speaker 2 (01:00:56):
Yeah, yeah, I was reading the comments, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
Yes, Yeah, listen, yesterday I warned you about getting into
that little area in there and shutting yourself off.

Speaker 2 (01:01:03):
Striking the stone by Moses was obedience.

Speaker 1 (01:01:06):
The first I just said, thank you, buddy, thank you.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
For coming in clarifying.

Speaker 4 (01:01:10):
I love the fact all I can see is his
eyes because revolves all the computers in the Adler.

Speaker 1 (01:01:14):
It's Denzil not you miss that.

Speaker 2 (01:01:18):
It's also dombat.

Speaker 1 (01:01:20):
There it goes, there, you go, there it goes. Look
at you. You're allotted.

Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
I was talking about myself, by the way in that
and what I just said.

Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
You're allotted words for the quarter over. You're still in
some from over. Yeah. Yeah, the uh we continued Rick
Bird your show on screen phone. I was going to speedy,
you're right.

Speaker 6 (01:01:41):
Hey are you doing this morning?

Speaker 12 (01:01:45):
Carry?

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
All right?

Speaker 13 (01:01:48):
Go ahead, Yeah, my name is Richard Peter.

Speaker 2 (01:01:55):
All right, yeah, don't laugh at that. I heard that part.

Speaker 1 (01:01:59):
Oh suddenly you're the I wrote. Now you know now,
don't you be laughing at that dirty mouth? Only mine?
Uh this shall I see you trying to call your
your band. I think six weeks is a little bit.
That is give him a week, okay, I'll drop it
to to five and a half. Thank you. Thank you

(01:02:20):
for nobody say I'm not gracious. I'm telling you. We
continue Rick Burgess Show on screenphone calls.

Speaker 12 (01:02:26):
Go ahead, neighbors, y'all doing all right?

Speaker 1 (01:02:32):
What's for what's for dinner?

Speaker 12 (01:02:35):
Hey, this is Flip Greggrin. Let's not just gonna tell
you that's that's striking the rock. That'd be like Sampson
saying we're going to burn the house down.

Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
It actually wouldn't you know. I'm sorry, I'm just hearing.
He didn't burn the house, Flip. He pushed the pillars
and it all failed. He didn't learn the house Flip
would have sang that sing a good tu. Now did
y'all see the now like Sampson saying, let's all cut
our hair?

Speaker 12 (01:03:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:03:08):
There, did y'all see the text show Jaxapolsiz for bumping yesterday?

Speaker 1 (01:03:14):
He said he was just nervous. I didn't even know
him both. I don't think you did. It's like this
Little Mustard show. It was another guy. Yeah, but that
was somebody musty. That guy's wandering with a dog.

Speaker 10 (01:03:29):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:03:38):
Okay. We we spend a lot of time talking about
what's going on in the culture, in politics. Uh, the battles,
the noise, the craziness. Look, let me tell you've seen
us make some adjustments this year. It kind of gets old.
I mean, just the same oh thang, banging on the
stuff every day. So here's something different. If you're a
woman listening right now, maybe there's a woman in your
life you care about. Uh, here's something I think you'll

(01:04:00):
be interested in. It's called Share the Arrows. It is
happening October the eleventh in Dallas, Texas. It's hosted by
Blade's TVs on Alibeth Stuckey and designed to encourage, equip
and speak truth into the life of women who are
trying to take a stand that is firm in this world,
standing up for what is right. It's full to have

(01:04:20):
worship teaching, real conversation, bold voices. Ginger A Dougar will
be there, Alyssa Childers, Katie Fowls, Taylor Duke's many more,
worship led by Francesca by Tostelli. And of course it's
going to be an incredible weekend for the ladies. So
if you're a woman and your craving encouragement and biblical truth,

(01:04:41):
this is the event for you. If you're a husband,
you're a dad, you're a brother, and you'd like to
send your wife, daughter or sister. Also a great idea.
Go to share the Arrows dot com. Share the Arrows
dot com and yes, VIP options are still available. Our

(01:05:05):
speedy got it that Connor McGregor is running to be
what do they call Ireland? Is it a prime minister?
Is it a president? On? The number one guy in
Ireland for me, buddy, that's not that was head injury man.

(01:05:26):
But they do.

Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
They do have a prime minister also though they're one
of those countries that has a president and a prime minister.

Speaker 1 (01:05:32):
Okay, So who has power?

Speaker 2 (01:05:35):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
So in uh, the president of the prime minister.

Speaker 2 (01:05:38):
So the president is the head of the state and
he's more ceremonial. In fact, the king the prime minister
is the head of the government. He holds more political power.

Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
Oh well, I say vote McGregor in. Yeah, definitely McGregor
is going to be president and h he's talking to
the people of Ireland that it's time for real change.
Connor McGregor he wants to run Ireland. Yeah. Yeah, he'll
threaten to beat him up if they don't go along
with him. My name is Connor McGregor.

Speaker 12 (01:06:09):
Camera.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
Yeah, Oh, I don't understand the framing of this.

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
That's a lot of rooms, that's a lot of head rooms.

Speaker 2 (01:06:14):
They need to bring it down. They wanted to show
I think they wanted to show their capitol building in
the background, but it also makes him look like he's
too short.

Speaker 14 (01:06:21):
Morning, Citizens of Ireland. I'm here today outside the office
of the Tisha cans honish that where we are over
two hundred days into the formation of current governments. In
these times, this government has cost us our peace of mind,
our security, our hope for the future, and the general
well being of Artish citizens nationwide has decreased dramatically. Whereby

(01:06:45):
we have seen the homelessness of Ourish children risen to
levels unprecedented, proving this government's refusal to abide by and
respect our proclamation, and where all children of Ireland that
we cherished instead children abandoned. This incompetent failure of future
generations has been accompanied with an intense influx of mass

(01:07:07):
migration into an already severed system. Our tourism has shop,
he declined, well, danger on our streets has risen Ireland
As a master of Marshall combats a solution driven man.
You will hear me speak on a problem, but once,
then it's his action towards solution.

Speaker 2 (01:07:27):
He goes on to say, citizens of Ireland, the time
for changes now. As president, I will not sign any
bill into law that goes unless it goes back to
the people first, And he's uh, did he know though,
that the president is not as powerful as the prime minister?

Speaker 1 (01:07:38):
He promising prime minister. Okay, well, will you tell who's
gonna tell him? I'll take a program. You need to
be a prime minister and not the president. I will
hit you. That's better, that's better. I think he should
have gotten to thank your legs right from Andera. That's
not bade better. I think he should have gotten to

(01:08:00):
his violence soon. I'll make it a long more, don't you.
I think he waited too long. I think he waited
too long to tell us about him using let's see
right out of the gate, just get them kind of.
I'll punched problems ready to figg it's saturning in my ears.

(01:08:20):
That's your best one that was really working? What if
underwater man was running for president and an Irish accent? Yeah,
I see. I'm sorry all y'all embarrassed for me. And
I know the thing that got me right there and
this is he can work on it. Uh, well, we
got to get to teleprompter rolling. Uh, let's let's let's

(01:08:43):
have him look a little more natural. Looked a little
stiff look, and unfortunately it felt long. It was long.
It was long, but you know, but it really wasn't
but it felt long.

Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
It was okay for them to start with that shot
and then kind of zoom out and bring it down
nil down.

Speaker 1 (01:08:58):
You can you just do that? Yeah? I should have
been on the steps. You got too much headroom.

Speaker 2 (01:09:06):
Now he's also claiming, I want to just.

Speaker 1 (01:09:09):
Hit a capital. I look like a leprecaun that looks
so tiny. Stop trying to catch me. I got in
the gold.

Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
He is claiming that he's going to fight at the
White House. By the way, you guys know how that.
Oh yeah, they're supposed to be going to be on
the front law. They're supposed to be of the White House.
There's going to be a potential UFC fighting event at
the White House July fourth, twenty twenty six, to celebrate
the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of American Independence. McGregor

(01:09:41):
says that he would be honored to be involved.

Speaker 1 (01:09:44):
We're having an MM a fight at the White House.
You know this, We've talked. We've talked about it. Great.
I have not with you any attention the main greg
the main event, Raymond Burr on Alexander Hamilton. It was

(01:10:04):
any president. I think Burger's ironside.

Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
John Walks food versus Lincoln Round two?

Speaker 5 (01:10:12):
There you what happened to you voice Peter Brady.

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
I'm hyped about the fight? Then Franklin on John Adams. Anyway,
I don't know MacGregor do we I mean, do we
want that?

Speaker 2 (01:10:31):
The Oh yeah, the UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed
front Law. The UFC got the deal done with the
White House to host an event on the South Lawn.

Speaker 1 (01:10:42):
Yes, I agree with the agree with the textures. If
it's far independence, it should be British fighters against American fighters.

Speaker 2 (01:10:48):
Oh yeah, and got your red coach and American fighters
versus Japanese fighters, and American fighters versus German fighters. Maybe
some Rooskies and.

Speaker 1 (01:10:56):
Throw in some of the micro wrestlers. Yeah, everything doesn't
have to be about It doesn't always go back to
the fits wrestling, it does. Yeah, they put on a show.
Am I the only one that misunderstood the guys trying
to get us to help him with the plight of
midgets in Madison, Alabama. And come to find out it's
a racing midget racing.

Speaker 4 (01:11:14):
Yeah, it's not the little cars.

Speaker 1 (01:11:17):
When I first saw it, I was like, well, Greg
will be all over this.

Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
In the UFC needs to do a person from the
South fights a person from the North too.

Speaker 1 (01:11:26):
It feels like that that I think, and the North would.

Speaker 10 (01:11:28):
But the chief is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:11:36):
All right, does everybody remember when was it you Adler
who brought us the comedian? Uh? Or dress Skie? Who
was that that told us about the guy that the
black comedian that painted himself white and.

Speaker 2 (01:11:50):
Yeah, that he played on the show.

Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
Was that you that brought that up? I didn't know
who brought out? Yes, yes, yes, well there's an update,
uh and we have it today. No, well, Greg, you're close.
There's a white guy who looks exactly like the one
that he the fate redneck that he portrays, Oh my goodness,
and he has invited him to a demolition derby.

Speaker 4 (01:12:14):
Now the comedian, I understand, is with roll Tide Willie
a lot in a big Bama fan.

Speaker 1 (01:12:19):
The real comedian.

Speaker 2 (01:12:20):
Yeah, yeah, the black guy named Drewski is a very
very famous comedian. He dressed up as a white redneck
and looking he looked very convincing.

Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
And this guy is real.

Speaker 2 (01:12:29):
And the guy on the left is like, hey, wait
a second, Drewski just dressed up like me. So this
white redinck has a word for Drewski the comedy.

Speaker 15 (01:12:38):
All right, I've seen the Drewsky white boy skit and
I noticed that he looks familiar. I put my finger
on it. I've seen that guy before him. Well, we
got to everything, Rosie. On October fourth, I'm gonna be
driving Demolition Derby cor in Bristol. I've been honored if
you'd come watch from America. I'm up against these Australians

(01:13:02):
and hypothetically if you wanted to be in that derby,
I have not cleared this, but I'm pretty freaking sure
we could find you a car. I'm he looks just
like the character.

Speaker 1 (01:13:18):
Wow. Remember stereotypes are funny for a reason. Yes, they
always have a lot of truth, always have a lot
of truth. The maakeup job he's got, that's incredible, it's incredible.

Speaker 2 (01:13:31):
It was really the wife beater Tan that uh.

Speaker 1 (01:13:33):
That was That's when you're really going for details.

Speaker 2 (01:13:35):
It was so good. And the fake tattoos. His arm looked,
his arms looked so red and sunburned, and y'all it is.
It's here, you go.

Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
He's just just look at it. That's out in the world.
That is fantastic, really well done and really funny.

Speaker 2 (01:13:51):
THEO Vaughn says, any good makeup people out there, Theovonn
is a white guy, because any could make up people
out there while we're doing this, I don't know if
that would go as well.

Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
Now there's a bit of a double standard. Yeah, great,
I think it's funny, and I'm a white you know,
some people say red neckish, So, uh, what do you
think about this headline? Today? Boxing legends Tyson and Mayweather
Junior to compete in an exhibition match. First of all,

(01:14:19):
any exhibition match is boring. Second of all, we all
took the bait when they showed Tyson working out. You know,
they sped the film up to make him look quicker,
and that whole thing was a disaster.

Speaker 2 (01:14:32):
Yeah, he did not look good.

Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
I don't want anything to do with any of it.
You know, age comes for us, all yeah, age comes first,
all yeah. And one of the things that we have
old men's strength, but the quickness, well, the quickness. Does
this mean Mike's blown through his money again? It's possible, Africa.
I mean put him in faith, I punts him. They've
offered him twenty million. Yeah, I'm gonna do the exhibition

(01:14:55):
and punch him. Just care at least, I mean even
carry its situation.

Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
Let me carry it.

Speaker 1 (01:15:08):
You might get Steven the maud he points punch.

Speaker 2 (01:15:13):
So at least they're only eleven years apart. They're only
eleven years versus whatever it was, thirty five or something.

Speaker 1 (01:15:22):
What if Tyson Mayweather fight Connor McGregor.

Speaker 2 (01:15:25):
Mayweather McGregor fought. It's one of the biggest pay per
views of all time. They both made a hundred million
bucks off of it. Wow, But McGregor got in like
maybe one good punch the rest of time. Mayweather is
just the most He is so smart when he fights.
He has been hit I think the least amount of
times of like any any fighter ever. He's just but
he's so slippery, small.

Speaker 1 (01:15:46):
That's gonna change when not punch him.

Speaker 2 (01:15:47):
He's small, but he's so bad mind his prime.

Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
But he was always the highest paid athlete every year. Yes,
never understood. He's one of those people that was super wealthy,
and I never.

Speaker 2 (01:15:55):
Knew what money money Mayweather money Mayweather.

Speaker 1 (01:15:58):
Yeah, I understand, but I never really followed his career.
I always sitting around with a lot of money. Yeah.
I was like, that guy's got a lot of money.
I wonder what he does. So I can't wait. You
need to take your points, Greg. You know what Mike say,
how you can blow through Tim Me and Dawson, Hey,
both of it.

Speaker 2 (01:16:16):
Exactly what I do hope is a good fight is
Canelo versus Crawford. That's that's coming up.

Speaker 1 (01:16:21):
Billy Crawford.

Speaker 2 (01:16:22):
It's not Billy Crawford.

Speaker 8 (01:16:24):
Is that Bill?

Speaker 1 (01:16:26):
Is that Billy Ray Crawford.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
That's it's not it's not. But these are two boxing
superstars and it's coming to Netflix.

Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
That's a.

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
It's boxing. Uh yeah yeah, AnyWho, Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
Let's go to video nine. I saw this statement yesterday
in the headlines, but I haven't heard it. Greg. I
think you'll love this one. Ron Clark says he doesn't
think Tom Brady. Now that's where he really loses his
way here.

Speaker 9 (01:16:52):
M hmm.

Speaker 1 (01:16:53):
Drew brees our Peyton manning our generational talents. He doesn't
he does not so more than have to. I don't know,
but but here he is a few of them.

Speaker 16 (01:17:03):
I don't think there's I think there's less than what
you think. I think John Elway was a generational talent.
I think Patrick Mahomes is a generational talent. I don't
think Tom Brady. I don't think Drew Brees, I don't
think Peyton Manning are generational talents.

Speaker 1 (01:17:16):
I think Andrew Luck ended up being.

Speaker 16 (01:17:18):
A generational talent. I don't think there's a ton of
them out So.

Speaker 8 (01:17:22):
Then what then?

Speaker 1 (01:17:22):
How does one in your eyes be a generational talent?
Because there's not a lot of difference production. Let me
let me, let me, let me chime in here because
I love the argument back and forth between y'all ain't
trying to get in.

Speaker 10 (01:17:34):
The way of God? Is the reality?

Speaker 1 (01:17:37):
The operative word he is is?

Speaker 3 (01:17:40):
Do you believe Arch Manning is a generational talent?

Speaker 2 (01:17:43):
Now, let's get off of that. What is what is
he talking about? Tom Brady a generational talent?

Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
Let me tell you why he's a generational talent? Because
hating spin it, Yeah, that's let span it. Ain't span it.
I'm gonna say it like I'm first personal or conic
with span it. But this is our new thing. We're
all gonna say it, King Spanner ing Spanner, watch all
the games now. Everybody's doing it now. But the Tom
Brady thinks arch man Well, I don't know what more
tom Brady could have done. Yeah, arch Manning certainly, to

(01:18:12):
Stephen A. Smith's point, isn't a generational talent yet? He
hasn't shown us this. But to say that tom Brady's
not Andrew Luck is? This is that guy that Peyton
Manning's not Patrick Mahomes is. And I think Patrick Mahomes
probably will be it is and may already be with
all the production he's already done. But Andrew Luck John

(01:18:36):
Elway is more generational talent than Tom Brady, Peyton Manning.
I'm with the other guy. What what do you I'd
like to hear your definition. I must not. I'm okay
with not putting Drew Brees in there. He's good All
of famer, But Tom Brady is not a generational talent.

(01:19:00):
What does he mean? It's crazy? An Olympic talent. I
hope he's not talking about a quarterback, which I think
was the topic.

Speaker 2 (01:19:05):
Yeah, is he trying to say that tom Brady's support
staff was so good that because tom Brady wasn't a
generational talent, just the team was super good. Hard to
argue with seven super bowl.

Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
Right, Yeah, that's a tough one. And now the one
that I think where he loses his way is what
he did at Tampa Bay. I think he proved right then, Yeah,
I can go anywhere and win. Yeah, and they had
a good team, don't misunderstand me, but he was the
missing ingredient and he went at that age and competed
at that level, including winning one. I would have complimented
him on the fact that he just did well at

(01:19:37):
Tampa Bay. He won a Super Bowl. So I think
that's big. And once again we're trying to go into
the world's greatest team sport. And I know, Oudam you
disagree because you think it's soccer, but American football the
greatest team sport. This pulling people out and trying to
take individual positions. There's so much going on in foot

(01:20:00):
ball that requires to everybody's point, everybody, so you almost
just have to look at what Stephen A. Smith was saying,
is production When you were put on teams at your position,
did they seem to win more than when you weren't there,
I think, and if they did, and they did it
for long periods of time, I think you're a generational talent.
Yeah yeah, so I just he kind of made a

(01:20:23):
fool of himself and throwing Andrew Luck in there.

Speaker 4 (01:20:27):
But I do think winning and being a leader has
something to do with being a talent. It's not just
how fast you run from line to line and how
hard you throw the ball and how high you jump. Yes,
that's that's you're a phoenix.

Speaker 1 (01:20:39):
We're talking about athlete. But but I think when you
throw in you got to be a good athlete, You
got to be a good leader, You got to be
able to win. You can throw all that in there.
Every name he mentioned is I mean Hall of famers,
And if he's talking about athletic ability, he should have
said athletic. And that's where I think he said talent. Right,

(01:21:00):
what these others did required a ton of a ton. Now,
like you said, they may not be able to run
a four three forty, But to say they don't have talent, yeah,
I've seen a lot of athletic quarterbacks that weren't generational talents.
They might have been generational athletes, but they weren't generational talents.
We'll be back. Hello, Rick Burgers show on screen phone

(01:21:26):
calls go ahead.

Speaker 9 (01:21:28):
Hey guys, wanted to wish y'all a good day today.
I also wanted to ask you, Rick, if you have
seen this new poll that has gone out showing some
gen Zers and millennials are actually starting to attend church
more often than older generations.

Speaker 1 (01:21:46):
Yeah, I did.

Speaker 12 (01:21:47):
I did.

Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
We actually talked about that. I had not seen that
about millennials, but I definitely saw it about gen Z
and I talked about that the other day. I think
we're seeing a new generation and not having you know,
some kids in that generation. Uh, it just seems like
they just want to cut through all the garbage and
let's just talk about the truth.

Speaker 2 (01:22:09):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:22:09):
And I think they're drawn. I don't think they're drawn
to our attempt to relate to them. I don't think
they're drawn to bells and whistles. I think they're like,
let's just hear the truth, shoot me straight. And they
want to have lives that matter more than they want
to have lives that the world deemed successful. Does my
life matter? Does it? Does it? Does it? Does it

(01:22:31):
have any impact. I'm not concerned about what kind of
house I live in. I'm not concerned about what kind
of car drive, I'm not concerned about what brand I wear.
I'm not This is a general statement. I know there's
individuals who probably still do Their big thing is why
are we here?

Speaker 9 (01:22:45):
And what what?

Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
What am I supposed to be doing that matters? And
how do I make my life count? And I think
that's drawn them to the church and to your post
because the Bible has those answers.

Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
Yet to your point, the trying to relate to them,
trying to change church for them, hate that. You see
more traditional churches are growing a lot, to the Catholic Church,
the Episcopal Church with with a more traditional type service.
Though they're they're seeing a large part of that growth.

Speaker 1 (01:23:10):
They're being drawn back to you said, even to smaller
congregations a lot less. Like I said, they're not impressed
with your sound system, your your your big screen, uh,
you know, your your your production of the of the band.

Speaker 15 (01:23:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:23:27):
They're they're really just looking for sound, theological Bible teaching
and traditional hymns and things like that. They're being drawn
back more than that modern is not as appealing to them. Kind.
It's kind of hopeful a little bit. But uh, but
know that if you you know, are familiar and we
do talk about this, so on the end times that

(01:23:49):
will become though the exception more than the rule, and
you can see it on the macro. You'll watch the
Western Church and the church around the world move towards
being completely apostate, and only a few and a remnant
will stay true. Top of the hour.

Speaker 10 (01:24:07):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
So we have we've met everybody that is here today
watching in the studio audience, the big Boy Mike, most
everybody came up to that. But we noticed this bunch
tends to hold back a little bit.

Speaker 8 (01:24:29):
They do.

Speaker 1 (01:24:30):
They'll they'll they'll hold back fritters. Yeah, they'll hold back sauces, cheeseballs.
They'll be reluctant to let you know some things. By
the way, from the text Nation, they're asking the name
of the group that is a hiking ministry, that is
mountain movers, mountain movers that we're asking about that. But
and then all of a sudden, just out of nowhere,

(01:24:51):
I mean, we're sitting here with our talk to Rob,
you know, Rayley, and he's nice guy talking about us
wearing his shirt. Then all of a sudden, the break
comes over and says, well, I got a few songs
I wrote and uh, and he doesn't tell you right
here and then the interview, your interview that never comes up,
and he said that he and we said, well, I

(01:25:12):
don't know why you didn't bring it up on the show.
So Adler too is a songwriter. He is is you
and I Rick back in our old day and the
old days we wrote songs and you know, certainly the
death metal So so you're here, you are and with
the group of fellow songwriters, and you just kept it
from us. So Rob, if you'd like to come back
to the MinC oh boy, and here you go. So

(01:25:32):
I love that shirt. So so Rob, you said, uh,
you don't have a lot of musical talent, as far
as you know, you don't. You don't play it, but
you might want to put the headphones on so you
can hear. But you're a wordsmith.

Speaker 3 (01:25:46):
Well, I used to be a used to do Adler
Show where I used to go to church at for
thirty years. I did the sound booth that I got
and just occasionally I would come back front and do
a song.

Speaker 12 (01:25:59):
For the church.

Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
Oh, you would come up front and you would occasionally
sing okay.

Speaker 3 (01:26:03):
Well, the first song I ever sung was Newsboys We Believe.
And then I did read letters Crowder and I started
writing my own material kind of and it was just
something that really just happened, just like this just happened.
I did not come here with the intention of doing this.
In fact, this was in my truck when I was
talking to Luke and his life outside and it just happened.

(01:26:25):
Hit my head, Oh, I need to show this song.

Speaker 1 (01:26:29):
And now who who did go there? Because there's some
chords right out or that are above it.

Speaker 3 (01:26:33):
This this actually was a lady at church at a
church in Safford, Arizona, because I spent a year and
three months out there, and I started going to this
little Baptist church out there, and I don't ever try
to put myself forward. It is not this is God,
not mar.

Speaker 1 (01:26:50):
You're kind of like Greg's kind of the lady at this.

Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
I've been going there for about a year and I
walked up here and I said, Hey, I got this song.
You think you could pay to music? So I started
singing it to her. She tried to slow me down
because I have a fast pass beat to tempo to
most of the things I do because I like contemporary
Christian music. So it's just one of those deals. I
can't make that sound like.

Speaker 1 (01:27:13):
That, but that you feel about George Strait, Greg.

Speaker 3 (01:27:16):
Greg got, I wasn't going to go that great. I
was not going to just like I wasn't going to
say the D word.

Speaker 12 (01:27:23):
I wasn't.

Speaker 4 (01:27:26):
That gap you were telling us lyrically though. This song
you just came to you in the middle of the.

Speaker 3 (01:27:30):
Came to me in the middle of the nine about
two am, and I just told Hi about my computer
and just started typing it in. And this is the
only song that's worked that way.

Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
So Adam, can you see the chords? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:27:42):
Okay, all right, So I got my guitar ready to roll.

Speaker 1 (01:27:44):
All right, so really see if you can help him.

Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
What kind of what kind of beat is it?

Speaker 1 (01:27:51):
Do? God too, Lee?

Speaker 2 (01:27:53):
Yeah, I got it, like like, just give me like
a one, two, three four kind of thing. How fast
is it?

Speaker 3 (01:27:59):
It changes? Tim changed, he changes tamp this this is
fast here he.

Speaker 1 (01:28:04):
Does, I know, because you're a little bit nervous, speedy
struggles on behalf of others, you know that. So now
he's he's singing a song.

Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
With you now, one of the one of the things that.

Speaker 1 (01:28:14):
This is what, this is what happens to him. He
can't take it. You can't take these kind of moments.
He knows nothing about music.

Speaker 3 (01:28:20):
Several years ago, one of the pastors that I had,
he told me one time, because I'd always every time
I get to do a song, I'd be shaking like
a leave And he said, you better hope it never
goes that's right, And it has went away one time
and I couldn't carry in the bucket.

Speaker 1 (01:28:34):
Overcome, I'm good, all right.

Speaker 2 (01:28:37):
What's the name of the song.

Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
The title of it is called come all right, Ready.

Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
When you are, I'm ready.

Speaker 3 (01:28:47):
Come to gods houly hose.

Speaker 11 (01:28:52):
You don't need to be silent, beheave like you have
been redeemed.

Speaker 10 (01:28:58):
Come in you what he has to see.

Speaker 3 (01:29:03):
You know he died upon a tree to rescue you
and me.

Speaker 1 (01:29:09):
Okay, so.

Speaker 3 (01:29:12):
This is the course of this is course coming out
of course is a little faster beat.

Speaker 8 (01:29:16):
Do you know you love Jesus. We are here to
praise him and come lift his name. Hi, let us
offer our ball to him. Let her workshop please use him,
Let her hats now.

Speaker 2 (01:29:32):
He you're.

Speaker 1 (01:29:38):
Wow, that's good lyrically, that's you consider they haven't worked together.

Speaker 3 (01:29:43):
Lyric, that's abstracted. He did the Mexican too, Now, don't
we got the Mexican thing in there?

Speaker 2 (01:29:51):
Christian Family show Mexicans listen to it's.

Speaker 1 (01:29:56):
Just how us Spanish? What's the word? Sorry?

Speaker 8 (01:30:00):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:30:02):
Well change ready? I'm just kidding you were you got
more almost off and running.

Speaker 3 (01:30:09):
Weren't You'll just changed the temple tempo, buddy, Yeah, I
change it. That's what the lady at that played the piano.
She said, you realize you just changed tempo and key,
and I don't know what a tempo and key is.

Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
If you would like to hug you, you can.

Speaker 2 (01:30:27):
It's not him, this is this is really good.

Speaker 1 (01:30:29):
I think you should move closer to one of us,
you know, just get uncomfortable.

Speaker 2 (01:30:33):
So not a Mexican kind of beat? What would you prefer.

Speaker 1 (01:30:38):
More of? An Anglo Spanish?

Speaker 11 (01:30:42):
Were here to worshiper God, He will need of every need, if.

Speaker 10 (01:30:50):
Only week be leave.

Speaker 11 (01:30:53):
We have a holy Father above who showers us with
this love, and we need you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:05):
I know you Jesus.

Speaker 1 (01:31:07):
That's of course, praise.

Speaker 8 (01:31:11):
Lit his name. Hi let us offer to him, let
it shop, please him, let us now your.

Speaker 3 (01:31:22):
Headphones job than Jesus. But yeah, that's that's one of
the things that bless him. I didn't mean you didn't
come here to do this.

Speaker 1 (01:31:35):
Well, well that's what this show is about. You know
how many times Greg you said the same thing. Yeah,
I come here to do I don't know what.

Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
You gotta follow the spirit whenever the space.

Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
I'm not sure what Greg's following. But that's a nice
that's a nice little point. Thank you for sharing that. Sorry,
and I was uncomfort Thank you, Rob.

Speaker 4 (01:31:52):
He's just that way with anything, with anything like literally,
I'm right now, I am sweating. I'd like to congratulate
