(02:12):
Coming up a little bit later on. Yeah, there'll be
another burgess ball battle that will ensue a taid and
maybe somebody walks away with cash. Maybe somebody walks away
with a bundle, or somebody doesn't win anything, but it
forces us to do a bit on the spot, so bundles,
bits and bucks. The old will is ready to go.
(02:35):
The question is are the vox seats ready? And we'll
meet them also coming up a little bit later on.
If you want to get a vox seat, not that
not that easy, but they are free, but they do
need to be reserved, and you have to just keep
paying attention. One of a couple of ways to do it.
Be there, ready to go when a new month drops.
But also keep checking because sometimes even though they go
(02:56):
quickly and we're flattered by that, but we'll have people
come up and say, hey that was a step out.
Now I've got to go out of town. Hey, now
I've got to work. Hey now somebody's sick. Now, hey
that was the case yesterday, Rick, And they'll cancel and
then speed, he'll put them right back out there.
Speaker 5 (03:11):
Yeah. The guy he had three seats and he said,
you tell them about can't have nothing. My son is
sick and I can't I think bringing them up in there.
Speaker 6 (03:19):
And we got.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
So I said, well, thanks for letting me know, and
I released him. They were swap swallowed up within an hour.
Oh really yesterday, So somebody said, know they.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
Were coming to yesterday, right, they were able to grab them.
So there you go.
Speaker 7 (03:33):
So I always keep checking for that.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
And I want to commend the person who's not coming
because that is one of the rules that we have.
And please read the rules, you know, before you get seats. Please, please,
please please don't bring sick people in here. And if
you and if you're sick, and if you're sick, please
please please please, I say please. We'd rather get with
you and find you another day than you come in
(03:57):
here and get everybody sick. So so don't so don't
do that. That's right. Uh So, guys, we do have
a lot to unpack on the program today. Speedy, you
should be Philly like walking on air. Okay, after yesterday
that you got through having your friend here, the professional golfer,
I thought we all behaved quite well. I thought you
(04:17):
did too. Yeah, and I loved how good time.
Speaker 7 (04:19):
David just hung out Davis Thompson.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
That was fine.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
And uh he actually reached out to me later yesterday
afternoon and was very appreciative of of.
Speaker 2 (04:28):
How how fun it was.
Speaker 5 (04:29):
And his family, uh has and we I didn't know
this after getting to know him a lot better. Is
that his family's been been fans for a long time
and so they were also very thankful.
Speaker 8 (04:42):
Fun.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
We had a good time, very good. So there we go, Adler,
you know, I know, until we had to the new
equipment is installed. The YouTube option is that automobile are
multiple automobiles that we all owned where it was not
a given that you you walked out there and turned
that key, especially on the cold What's how long ago
(05:03):
it was you actually had the key to turn cold
Nobody remember keys? No, I still have keys? Yeah in
your vehicle?
Speaker 5 (05:10):
Yeah, he went, he went with it, He went with
the van.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
All right, he's good.
Speaker 7 (05:16):
Some things still have.
Speaker 9 (05:18):
I just got I just I just got where I
can push a button to unlock it and lock it.
That's new, that's new to me. Yeah. Yeah, he's good.
Speaker 2 (05:27):
The best thing ever is cranking it from inside the
house on a cold day.
Speaker 7 (05:30):
Yeah, so are you? Is it running okay right now?
Speaker 6 (05:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (05:35):
We're seven minutes in and looking good. Holding Chan is alive.
It's a great day, guys.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Can you see him? Yeah, he's good. It was this
big green man by the way. Somebody, somebody just said
they don't want to be a Debbie Downer. YouTube's working fine.
They're not sure about tune in Rick. That was one text.
Here we go, well, you know lately though, well lately
we default and we go, wait a minute, lately we've
said that, and suddenly it was so we'll see maybe
(06:06):
hopefully he'll they'll just try it again and resetting it'll
be fine. Yeah.
Speaker 9 (06:10):
Went to best Buy yesterday picked up some more equipment
for the show, and I felt like remember on Parks
and Wreck when Ron Swanson goes into a home improvement store.
An employee comes up and says, hey, sir, can I
help you find anything?
Speaker 6 (06:23):
And he goes.
Speaker 9 (06:24):
Ron Swanson goes, I know more than you and just
walks away. I kind of got that. I'm in these
I'm in like the connector section, and a best Buy
employee comes up to me. He's like, you good, like
he didn't even fall. Yeah, he was like, you know what,
I can tell the way that you're like closing your
eyes and doing wiring diagrams in your mind while you're
(06:45):
trying to figure out what stuff you need to get.
I can I can tell that I'm not here for you, buddy.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Sorry, I know I'm starting to get that attitude myself
when I go in now right. Yeah, they see me
and they're like, here's a handy guy. He's over there
looking at Phillip said, leave it alone. He knows what
he wants. Everybody says tune in is fine, So well,
that's good news for the guy who's having a problem.
(07:11):
I'm telling him that he just needs to nobody. Nobody's
having a tune in problem. Nobody, okay, except that one
guy or a woman or whatever it was. So who
am I to judge. I'm giving him a reassuring that.
Everybody says it's everything. But but you know, it was funny.
Speaker 8 (07:30):
I had.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
I had a lunch yesterday where I was laying out
the new world we're living in. It used to be
so simple. You just came into your little radio show
and you did radio show. I said, now you have
to come in and go, Okay, am my own locally
and my own across the country.
Speaker 7 (07:48):
Am I streaming?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
Have I got video? Have I got streaming audio? It's
the podcast capturing it. You know, it's different things. Are
the archives working?
Speaker 7 (07:59):
I mean, how's our internet?
Speaker 2 (08:01):
Everything? It's a lot folks. And like Adler and I
were talking about because of the new business model on
it too, like he was trying to figure out a
time to stop YouTube and fix it.
Speaker 7 (08:13):
We both were had this conversation.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
I said, you know, it's hard now because all of
it's monetized, So anything you stop, you're also losing money
until you get it back going again. So uh, you know,
there was a time where some of it was just
kind of convenient, but it didn't have a big financial
tie too.
Speaker 7 (08:32):
But now it all does? It all matters now?
Speaker 2 (08:35):
And if you don't have it all, you have a
tough time when you're gonna have a tough time when
the bills coming. Yeah. So so there you go. By
the way, tune in is fine, Thanks for thanks for
kicking that bed. It's fine one throw you too. Does
that not excite you?
Speaker 6 (08:51):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (08:52):
Does that not excite you to see people that that's awesome.
Speaker 5 (08:55):
That is that is very reassuring that that that platform
a lot of folks.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Well, you and I are two ends of the spectrum.
I always think that the text means something's wrong. You
never think it means anything wrong.
Speaker 5 (09:06):
Well right now, more than more than one. It gets
our attention. But if we just get one right, then.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
It could be just on their end. I have been
shocked sometimes how few we've gotten when something was major. Yeah,
and I'm like, I'm more bitter should be said. So
we've looked into that.
Speaker 5 (09:22):
But it restarted as simple, restarted something working. Yeah, he's good,
Thanks Boddy, thanks for all freaking.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Us out Florence, Alabama.
Speaker 7 (09:29):
He needs that because he didn't have an affilies anymore.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Yeah, poor thing, poor thing. We'll be back. Stay close.
Speaker 9 (09:37):
Let's rolle.
Speaker 1 (09:39):
This is the Rick Burgess show, Strange and Colors, the
new podcast from Rick Burgin. Get it now wherever you
(10:02):
get podcasts.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
So a brand new episode of Strange Encounters ready to
go this weekend. So that'll be episode seventeen. I think
so those of you that have been following that, or
maybe you're starting to follow that, I do want to
hit you with some of the things that'll be in
there this weekend. One of them. I get a lot
(10:24):
of emails about a lot of emails, and sometime every
now and then it'll come up on unscreen phone calls.
Is the Book of enich Rick. What you think about
the Book of Nick? We've ever heard about the Book
of Nie? Well, you know it says in the Book
of Inning. So we take on the Book of Enik
in Strange Encounters. So and I think that's right out
(10:45):
of the gate, isn't it. Is that the first thing
that we do. A second thing, okay, so that will
be this weekend. We do have a very intriguing email
from the audience as well, dealing with adopting children from
all over the world and how sometimes they can be
(11:05):
They have been exposed to some pretty rough stuff and
bring some battles into your house. So those of you
that are thinking of adopting children, which is wonderful, from
other countries or really from any system, or maybe getting
into foster care, we take on some of the spiritual
components of that that you need to kind of prepare for.
So that's kind of part of our spiritual house cleaning
(11:27):
segment which has become kind of reoccurring. So enjoy that
this weekend, Strange Encounters a brand new and then we'll
talk about you know, has there been trauma in your
home to consecrate that and take that back and I
share a very personal story about that.
Speaker 7 (11:44):
So anyway, that's.
Speaker 2 (11:45):
Strange Encounters Episode seventeen coming out this weekend wherever you
get podcasts. And thanks for all your feedback on that
as well. So, you know, not trying to brag, but
you know last week when we talked about the college
football games coming up, you know we we we picked pretty.
Speaker 7 (12:02):
Well in here as a team.
Speaker 2 (12:04):
And remember we gave the upset alert of the game
to watch for the weekend, and that was Florida. Uh
and uh and of course you know it happened Florida
rose up and had had a big upset uh last weekend,
which we all kind of saw coming we did.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
But uh, I'm looking, do we see one this weekend?
Do we see one this weekend? Do we see hey?
Speaker 7 (12:26):
Now, last week I had a just a sense on
the Florida game.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
I looked over these. I don't have anything jumping out
at me really that I go, Hey, keep an eye
on mad I think there's some good games. I think
I think Missouri Alabama could be interesting. Yeah. Yeah, I
think because it's at Missouri. Yeah, and Missouri's undefeated and
has a good football team and they can run football,
so that that that's good.
Speaker 6 (12:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (12:52):
But Alabama very good and and seems to have their
legs under them. Let me, they got their running game back,
which makes them very danger and their quarterback probably playing
better than anybody else in the country at that position.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Let me ask you a question. Oklahoma and Texas play
this weekend. Oh, Texas, Texas is now out of the
top twenty five. Oklahoma's number six, So would that be
an upset or is it it is Texas and Oklahoma?
Speaker 2 (13:19):
That's a great question.
Speaker 5 (13:20):
So but because I mean, how do you feel about
that game? Just does Texas rebound and lead Oklahoma? But
is that an upset? I mean in the top twenty five,
but preseason.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
I wouldn't call an upset. I guess corner of the
rankings it is. Yeah, I believe, Yeah, I mean, but
I personally wouldn't. I think Texas is just you know,
I don't want to I don't want to upset Nate
and the other Oklahoma fans out there. Yeah, I think
six is a little lofty for Oklahoma. Yeah, is their
(13:51):
quarterback back? If he's not a good question, is he back?
I don't think, I know that's a big difference. By
the way, if he's not back. I like Texas in
that game a lot.
Speaker 6 (14:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (14:02):
And you know what, what OU's Matier is pushing to play
versus Texas.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
That means he's not gonna be one hundred percent.
Speaker 5 (14:10):
Yeah, And you know, I mean, I don't know Petrino
at Arkansas, I don't know what the dynamics are there,
but they played Tennessee this weekend.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
The fact that he's the head coach at Arkansas again,
it's just kind of kind of creepy. It's at Tennessee.
Speaker 5 (14:24):
But I mean, hogs, hogs are pretty bad. I don't
know that they're that bad really, Yeah, I mean they
just they just can't they can't pull off the wind.
But they don't look like the Yeah, it's just let's
put Notre Dame to the side there, because that was
that was that wasn't very close.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
No, it was not. You're right, but but I but
I would say I will agree with y'all, especially when
you get a little something new and hey, I would
say that they could be dangerous in that Tennessee game. Yeah,
so keep an eye on that one. Even though I
think I actually disagree with some of you. I think
Tennessee will win that, but I agree with you that
(15:02):
you need to keep an eye on and in Texas
A and M.
Speaker 7 (15:05):
Y'all don't know what to think of Florida.
Speaker 2 (15:06):
No, I don't know what. I don't know what to
think of Florida at They're playing at Texas A and M.
So that that's huge for Texas A and M. It
is at Texas A and M. That's a that's a
tough place to play.
Speaker 5 (15:18):
And we were talking to Davis Thompson, who was in
here yesterday, who's went to Georgia, huge Georgia Bulldogs fan,
and and he even agreed, all fair, you never know
about Auburn. You never know at Alburn have that one
game that you know.
Speaker 2 (15:33):
They pulled something out. Never know Auburn is a different
team at home. Weird things happen there. If they can
get the quarterback play to be more than I can
take off and run with it and I can throw
the ball down the field. If Auburn can't throw the
ball down the field and keep giving up all these sacks,
and I'm not blaming the offensive line for all of it.
(15:55):
I'm with you, Greg. I think he holds a ball
too long. And they've got great receivers, they really do. Uh,
But I think Georgia is just got They're just too
solid on both sides of the ball. That's that's a
tough road. Auburn's got. The offense has got to do something.
They can't beat Georgia without being able to score. I mean,
(16:15):
I don't I know that sounds, you know, so elementary,
but you know, they got to score more. They got
to keep they gotta help. They got to make some
first downs.
Speaker 10 (16:24):
Man.
Speaker 2 (16:24):
Yeah, I mean so so, I don't know. Putting the
defense out Indiana Oregon. Uh, I've never seen a coach
any more confident than Indiana's. Oh yeah, he owns me.
I watched him of his highlights yesterday. He'll just I mean,
he is a coach, he is a character.
Speaker 6 (16:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Of course, Orgon really good and and they handled them
last year. I'm going with Indiana. Uh, you like Indiana
and that at Oregon?
Speaker 6 (16:48):
Yep?
Speaker 2 (16:49):
College game Day, all right, seven versus three Ohio State Illinois?
Anybody believe in Illinois that's an early game on Fox.
Anybody that beat down they got yeah, still good, Well
they gotta beat Uh here's the I will say this.
I think that pitt is going to beat Florida State.
What yeah for as they skid start out so high
(17:13):
and everybody fired.
Speaker 7 (17:13):
That would be my upset of the week.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
And that's a that's a mild upset because for ast
that's a twenty five Pittsburgh Pittsburgh Une ranked. Uh So,
I don't know. I think we're gonna find out a
lot about both Alabama and Missouri with an eleven o'clock
start at Missouri, yeah, because, uh but Missouri's got a
good football team. But Missouri always has that good football
(17:37):
team that can't quite beat a a really you go
in nineteen games. Yeah, but they can't quite beat a
really good team. You know that.
Speaker 5 (17:44):
And so watch I haven't watched a ton, but I
have caught a little bit of their games.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Man.
Speaker 5 (17:48):
They can run the ball, they can grat they really
really can. Of course I had a running back. That's
just something else. Of Course, Alabama's you know, front pretty good.
Oh yeah, yeah, sure are a large That's that's gonna
be a good game.
Speaker 2 (18:01):
I think by the way, the big lineman throws. By
the way, has Alabama's the only thing? Yeah, has Alabama's
offensive lineman? Has he become the college version of the
tush push? I mean, is he impossible to stop on shortyard?
Speaker 11 (18:16):
So huge?
Speaker 2 (18:19):
All right, there's there's the there's the big games for
the weekend, and so we enjoy those and our opinion
on them. That don't mean a whole lot, So we'll
be back. We watch enough to be dangerous. Thanks you're
being with us.
Speaker 1 (18:43):

from Society Week.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Virches about it America. I hope you're ready to go today?
Speaker 11 (21:05):
How that die?
Speaker 2 (21:05):
Now we got a lot to cover. I do want
to point this out our friends out of the great
state of Tennessee. We're talking about safe step walk in tubs.
If you are someone you love needs to maybe be
done with the traditional step over into tub becoming a
little hazardous. Well, it can still be beautiful, It can
(21:28):
still be wonderful, and just about any space can be
turned into a wonderful experience relaxing and enjoying a bath
without fearing. It could be a day that you have
some sort of fall safe step walk in tubs. About
any space they can use. They usually can get the
work done in one day. They're wonderful people and they'll
(21:50):
save it. We'll save you sixteen hundred dollars and get
you a free shower package right now.
Speaker 7 (21:54):
Do you need these services?
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Why don't you talk to them? Call them at one
eight hundred nine six twelve twenty that you can also
find their number at Rick burgessshow dot com under sponsors
and b surein mentioned the show for that sixteen hundred
dollars off in that free shower package. We didn't talk
about this meant to yesterday and never got to it.
(22:17):
This Lebron James second decision. We mentioned it in passing,
we never followed up on it. And now there's a
lawsuit from a fan who bought tickets expecting to be
there when Lebron James announced his retirement, only to find
out that he had bought a ticket to a Hennessy
(22:38):
commercial tickets for I didn't know there were tickets available,
but apparently I had no idea. Maybe somebody sold him.
I don't know. The NBA's all time leading scorer announced
that his second decision was a new signature bottle of Hennessy,
and he teased the announcement that day before, and many
(23:01):
thought the decision would be about his retirement.
Speaker 7 (23:05):
We even guessed that, Yeah, he got.
Speaker 2 (23:07):
The teaser video which we played. He purchased. Andrew Garcia
purchased two tickets for a Los Angeles Lakers game against
the Cleveland Cavaliers for about four hundred and thirty two
dollars each on Ticketmaster. Well, I mean it was a game.
It was a game, he said. I wouldn't have purchased
them though, if he wasn't going to retire playing.
Speaker 12 (23:32):
A stretch, a bit of a stretch. Yeah, so I
wouldn't have bought the tickets to the game. I did
it because I thought he was retiring. Yeah, I need
to see him play.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
He quit wasting time with this and the paper that
it's on.
Speaker 9 (23:46):
Yeah, I got duped caught on the air. I'm like,
she's probably retired. He played with his son, and so
he's ready to hang it up.
Speaker 2 (23:52):
Now that's what.
Speaker 6 (23:53):
That's what I said, Like.
Speaker 2 (23:56):
That when you yeah, that's whatever.
Speaker 9 (23:58):
And it was it was like a Christmas Story movie
when when he's like going through the decoder ring and
he's like, be sure to be sure to drink your ovaltine.
A crummy commercial, son of a gun.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Oh yeah. So anyway, they said the average ticket price.
Now here's where I'm not saying he's gonna win this lawsuit.
Please hear me, because you just got to think these
things through yourself, right, speedy, Yeah, that's right. Think it.
So anyway, it said they doubled from two fifty to
five hundred because of the teaser video. But that's on
(24:33):
you for assuming what it was going to be. I
don't think anybody can be held accountable for your own assumption.
It drove prices up because people thought, well, we've got
to go see him. He's about to announce he's gonna retire. Yeah,
I can see how that could happen. I tell you
who did well in this is Hennessy. Yeah, yeah, great,
Bravo to their APPR. Now I don't even know what
(24:54):
that is because I'm Baptist, but it worked. Is that's
what is hennessy looking?
Speaker 1 (24:59):
K oh?
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Okay, Greg, it's it's a liquor.
Speaker 7 (25:02):
Okay, No, I'm.
Speaker 9 (25:04):
Sipping on some handy y'all haven't No, I never done.
Speaker 2 (25:06):
That laid back. You haven't either. Your dad's been working
in the Baptist church for a long time, right yeah, yeah, right, So.
Speaker 5 (25:15):
Well, Lebron he's out three to four weeks anyway, he's
got an injury, might miss the season opener. So, I mean,
everybody kind of knew he wasn't playing, but maybe still
maybe making it an announcement.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
Again, it's just the retirement. It's just like when these
rock bands go, this is our last show, and people
rush out and pay probably three times what they're worth.
It's their last show, and then a year later they
come back and we're back at it.
Speaker 6 (25:40):
Right.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
It happens all the time. It happens all the time.
How about this. People will fake a retirement at the
drop of glass. Do you think they later did this
get an offer they can't refew. Do you think most
of the time, most of the time athletes. Well, yeah,
I guess I can include them too. Do you think
most of the time a band says that's it, our
athlete says that's it, that they mean it when they
(26:02):
say it. I think some of them think they mean it.
I'll give you Motley Crue, that not a manipulation. They're
never You don't think any of them are doing it
on purpose. I don't know. Maybe kiss yes, But Motley Crue,
for example, they sat down signed a contract, we're done,
and then they had that movie come out about them
and their popularity crank back up, and then somebody come
(26:24):
back and said, hey, we got big demand here, we
can sell stadiums out. Then they, in fact, then they
released a video of the contract they signed, blowing up.
And so I think that's when in cases we thought
we were doing But then they come back said, there's
a huge demand for y'all after this movie come out.
So and they're like, well, financially, no, I think it's
worth doing.
Speaker 11 (26:42):
No.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Yeah, yeah, in our own much smaller world. It was
a very very funny incident. One time I had an
opportunity to go to something and speak at something that
I wasn't interesting, and it was not anything spiritual. That's
that's a completely different thing. This was a corporate, full
(27:02):
blown secular event. You know, we'd like for you to
be part of it. Do something motivational, do some funny.
It's not it was not an evangelical thing at all. Uh,
it was it was outside any of that. And I
turned it down. I'm like, nah, I said, I just
I don't have that many dates. I'm trying to make
my schedule work. I kind of feel like what I
(27:25):
what I what I'm going to devote that to and
and and it's not these kinds of things. And and
I remember the the booking agent said you you might
want to take a look at the at the offer
and I was like, yeah, no, I think I'm I'm good.
I just I don't want to have to try to
make that work in my schedule. Well, I'm going to
(27:46):
send it to you and i'd have a look. And
so so I was like, okay. So I'm sitting there
with Sherry and we're having dinner. I said there's something
and I said, I'm I'm not gonna do it. I said,
I'm you know, I'm already gone too much and trying
to balance all that. She goes, yeah, I agree with
you like that, and well here it is. They just
emailed it to me. Mhmm mmmm. And I looked at
(28:11):
it and I say, hey, baby, I mean I'm not going
that much, you know, And so what's one with and
uh and and she goes, no, I don't. I said, well,
I'm gonna I'm gonna gohead and pull this up on
the phone and let you have a look at it.
And uh, and I pulled it up on the phone.
She goes, you know, I can get a lot of
work done that day. Uh, you know, because you're right.
Sometimes you're into I don't think I'm gonna do that,
(28:33):
And then somebody just comes back in and makes an offer.
This that's so good. You're just like, well, i'll be irresponsible.
And that was the quarter acause I said I think
I would, we would all we would be financially responsible
if I don't go do this. And I said, we this, this,
this can help, and so.
Speaker 7 (28:49):
So yeah, you're right.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
Sometimes you have all you're sincere about it, and then
somebody comes back and says, hey, this is a this
this is a pretty good offer. But I'm sure there's
some out there who have set it up. You know,
I can't watch it. We're going like we're retiring, right,
everybody's gonna running by days that we're gonna come back.
There's no doubt that I think Gene Simmons and Paul
Stanley definitely would be the type to do that because
they took that thing and stretched it over. You got
(29:12):
to get credit, right, Yeah, unreal.
Speaker 7 (29:14):
Yeah, And I do think.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
I mean, isn't it already in the works that that
Kiss has already said that kiss will continue with either
people either either avatars are people just putting on the
makeup and being tribute bands. There's already tribute bands. Our
favorite of course, the many versions many and many Kiss,
Many Kiss on the favorite thing of many Kiss. When
(29:37):
I was talking to someone who's serious about music, they said,
many Kiss is interesting for the couple of songs, but
they're really not that good. Well, he said, it's it's
it's the whole thing, many things. He said, there are
many Kiss and that's enough for a while for about songs.
And then now you're listening to people not play very well.
Speaker 5 (29:55):
I lought tickets because of many many ye backing to
be able to play.
Speaker 2 (30:01):
Skinner started being people who they've been draining Leonard Skinner
pretty good. Yeah, remember when especially they told us they
weren't gonna come back at all. That's right. I think
they retired at one time. They didn't exactly now, y'all
talk of music, I'm in. I think originally, originally when
they got back together, they were some kind of clause
there had to be at least three uh original members
in it, right, and well then that thing got very
(30:21):
successful a sudden that rual went away. They started changing
that real they didn't have a saject they aged out
and health problems and all that. Yeah, they went, okay,
we changed their mind by the wives that are still
alive as long as the went back and Doug Ricky
Ricky Medlock who was in it before they were famous.
They were famous. It was like the drummer Ya did Blackfoot.
Speaker 7 (30:41):
Motley and Kiss. Let's not forget Fleetwood Mac.
Speaker 5 (30:44):
They've retired a couple of they've had some retirement chiming.
Speaker 2 (30:50):
I'm in. I mean they've replaced Lindsey Buckingham. They did
the last Is it surprising to you, like because it
came up on my on reels this week and I've
seen it many times when they did tusk and they
had the USC band never liked that and they're there
in the stadium recording it to get that sound.
Speaker 13 (31:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Does it surprise you how good Stevie Nicks is with
the baton? I just you're right. I mean, she's going
with that baton. Apparently in high.
Speaker 9 (31:16):
School she was She's a gypsy.
Speaker 7 (31:19):
She must have been the batona.
Speaker 2 (31:21):
I think I think they said that she because I
mean she starts dying, remember with the baton, and you're like, hey,
she knows what she's doing. Yeah. Yeah, So did you
ever like that song?
Speaker 7 (31:29):
I never liked this.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
I didn't know what this is one of those things,
did you.
Speaker 5 (31:34):
Did you not like it? Because everybody did and it
was so popular.
Speaker 2 (31:37):
No, I just didn't like it. Okay, I didn't know
what to do with it. Is weird the song I
did not you made. That's a great point. I don't
know if I like it or I don't like it.
But I did like the USC band being in it
for some reason. Yeah, it was, but I didn't like
the song that much.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
Now this is the Rick Burgess Show. Be bold and
let the whole world know that you listen to the
(32:13):
Rick Burgers Show. Cool merchandise is available. No, just go
to rickburgershow dot com. That click shock, Yeah, check out
that new swag. This shirt I have on right.
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Here, it's in there, and then don't run in the rain.
It's a great conversation starter. By the way, I've had
a lot of people when I have this shirt. I'm going,
all right, I like that. Tell me more about that.
So and we have some questions about that today as well.
Coming up Box Seats Burgess Ball battle just around the corner.
(32:48):
We have all that coming up a little bit later
on in today's program.
Speaker 7 (32:53):
So thank you for that. We and right now Tube
City are.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
Happening still so so we Adler's found some way to
make the old equipment make it through a few more days.
So glad to have you back yesterday, yesterday and today.
And remember I keep getting this and look, I'm glad.
I'm glad I'm getting stuff about this because this means
it has become a normal routine for you. Some of
(33:17):
you are still looking for the video archive of Wednesday's
Bible study that was compromised by the equipment failure.
Speaker 7 (33:24):
But there is an archive. It's just on our podcast channel.
Speaker 2 (33:28):
It's the audio only Okay, So the video archive isn't there, Mom,
So it's and we weren't live on YouTube on Wednesday, Mom,
So just but the archive is there.
Speaker 7 (33:43):
It's just on the podcast channel. And I'm glad you care.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
I really do. So. Speaking of that, here's what I'm
kind of thinking about, mom our Mom's turning eighty four
in November, and today I'm thinking about maybe getting involved
in Greg's world with Mom today. He's he's saying they've
moved their shopping day to today. I think I'm going
(34:08):
to go the ballgame with Greg. Didn Oh, I think
I'm going. Okay, yeah, and it's not so does that
mean that you're going to be in that in in
the afternoon world?
Speaker 6 (34:17):
It could be.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
I mean, I got a few things here at the office.
That's how quick Greg gets to it. Uh, But you know,
I wouldn't mind being involved. Maybe you know and but
but the question is do you think if I get
involved in the grocery run, I actually will come off
bad more than good.
Speaker 5 (34:41):
If you can calm down, you'll be fine, if you'll
just flow and go. But I mean, before you know it,
you're going to be trying to organize the grocery run.
And you know, and so if you know you can't
do that, then you just let it have.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
We're talking about a full run, Greg, you're just a
couple of items, well, corner mom, just a few items,
but a lot of times that ends up being a
full buggy.
Speaker 7 (35:06):
Okay, it's never fine. It's never just a few outs, see.
Speaker 2 (35:09):
What he said, Which is fine. No, see, that's what
you have to do.
Speaker 5 (35:12):
But suddenly you're the manager of the grocery store and
figuring out where things are stocked and how how they
need to be run.
Speaker 2 (35:19):
What's our goal and then and that's one thing even
my wife talks to me about. She goes everything we do.
We don't have to lay out the goal and then
the strategy to accomplish it. Yeah, there's no timeline. And
I'm like, well that's just how I live. Wow, people
don't live like that. You are to see me yesterday,
I was even by myself when I was achieving goals
checking them right off. Well, I mean it's like because
(35:43):
I don't know, but I know, are y'all in the
same way, And I know we're not gonna be those
people that suddenly act like there were you know, these
super workout people when we never been. But we are
doing a little bit better. Okay, we're all trying to
do a little bit better. But on the days that
I know I'm actually gonna do what would be called
this is a workout. Okay, until I'm past it, it's
like it hangs over me like a black, black cloud.
(36:04):
It's like I'm like, I can't get to the other
side of it. When I get to the other side
of it, I'm like, all right, so that's behind it.
Speaker 6 (36:12):
That's done. Ye check.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
And I will say that I'm that way on anything
like this, see what I would be thinking about. And
this is the thing y'all have tried to help me
with and it hasn't worked. But I'm at the point
now where I'm hearing what you're saying. I just haven't
applied it yet. And so I've become like most of
our society. I hear it, and I even understand it.
I just can't quite apply it well. But and that
(36:36):
is that Mom enjoys going to the grocery store. It
gets her out of her little townhouse out into the world.
It's good for her to move around a little bit.
Speaker 6 (36:47):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (36:47):
And in my mind I hear y'all saying that, but
I can't apply it. And it's like, I still think
this is something that we're trying to get off our
list and that we're trying to get done, and I can't.
It's me against me and I keep winning.
Speaker 9 (37:03):
It's like a walk in the park. I know I
can't get it, not a it's not like a hassle
to her.
Speaker 2 (37:10):
I hear it. Yeah, and I even agree with you,
and I can't stop.
Speaker 5 (37:14):
Somewhat Yeah, because y'all would be halfway through the grocery
store and she would turn to you and go, and
we're in a hurry because.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
You know where we're going. What are we doing? So
we have time. Took me a minute to get the
right side of mine, but I got it.
Speaker 5 (37:26):
Kick Off is not it's four hours away. It's I'm
just thinking thinking, Uh, we're gonna eat prior. We're not
in a hurry, so we have to we have to know.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
I'm with you on that. I love watching game.
Speaker 7 (37:39):
That's the best time. If you're looking for somebody in
the go game early with you.
Speaker 6 (37:42):
I'm right here.
Speaker 2 (37:44):
You know why I'm going the band walk in Do
you know what? You know what you're doing? Early traffic
that it's the easiest way. Would you rather sit in
traffic or sitting in the stadium in the STADIU? Yeah,
all day long.
Speaker 5 (37:58):
However, going to the grocery store at twelve thirty it
doesn't affect that at all.
Speaker 2 (38:03):
That's the key. Good. I don't know how all right,
somebody said, somebody said, Rick, try this, this is good.
Speaker 6 (38:10):
Try this.
Speaker 2 (38:11):
Why don't you make the plan? The plan is to
be inefficient? Okay, and that way, that is the plan? Okay?
Can you do that?
Speaker 5 (38:19):
So let me let me ask you this. What what
is the what's I guess? What are you trying to
accomplish by going to the grocery store with.
Speaker 7 (38:28):
Greg just kind of being part of it?
Speaker 2 (38:31):
Then can't you just do that? I think? So that's
where you have guess.
Speaker 7 (38:36):
I'm not involved in it.
Speaker 2 (38:37):
I'm just visiting. That's it. Ye'll tell you what I'm
gonna do when y'all go, let me know, I'm going
to go in a different vehicle and just meet you
there and see you in the store going. Then they're
picking up said if I'm over there, like getting her
in the car and everything. Then suddenly I've taken it
over and I can't do that. Yeah, come on, Rick.
Speaker 5 (38:55):
You know what you might want to do too while
you're there. Hey, I'm gonna I'm gonna leave you guys.
I'm gonna go grab something that I need. Right, he
ain't doing that, And then you have to keep up
with it, right.
Speaker 7 (39:05):
Right, I'm coming up ideas that can distract. Now here's
the thing.
Speaker 2 (39:10):
The worst thing can happen to everybody is to me
to get my hands on that buggy. Yeah you know
I can't touch that buggy. If I touch that buggy,
we are off to the races. Okay. I have to
hold my especially if we go to winn Dixie, I
have to hold myself back through the produce section because
she'll take it wrong. Yeah, that's and I had to go.
Greg's just just let her look all right, So you
(39:30):
do struggle a little bit, certain you just got no
the producers. It hangs up. Well, see, because you know,
I'm a person that thinks the key to any efficient
trip is you gotta be careful on the front end.
And on the front end is where she is the slowest.
That well, that that produce area, I'm gonna flip everything.
Think Think about your mom.
Speaker 5 (39:54):
Think what I said, you said, think about your mom
being able to go to the grocery store today with
two of her three kids. I know that, and and
just the joy that probably inside brings her. That's so
don't rush that joy. That's where I'm trying to get. Okay,
Chuse what you're saying is absolutely right, and I hear it.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, so.
Speaker 2 (40:20):
You know, we spend a lot of time here on
the show and we kind of update you on what's
going on with the culture. Yes, we do a lot
of funny stuff and we cut up, but we do
talk about politics a little bit and then the you know,
all the craziness that goes on out there. But some
of you probably have, like like us, thought I need
(40:41):
a break from all this. Well, tomorrow, on the eleventh
of October, you could go to Share the Arrows.
Speaker 6 (40:49):
Now.
Speaker 2 (40:49):
This is a great event in Dallas, Texas. If you
don't have your tickets yet, you still can get them.
It's going to be hosted by Blaze TV's owns on
Alibeth Stuckey.
Speaker 14 (41:00):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
She's gonna have a wonderful lineup of women who will
be there, you know, leading praise in worship. I mean
the praise and worship Francesca Bata Stella. You talk about
an outstanding voice. Ginger Dougger will speak, a list of Childers,
Katie Fowls, Taylor Duke's of course, Ali Beth Stuckey will speak.
If you want to get tickets now for you or
(41:20):
are women in your life, go to share the Arrows
dot com. Share the Arrows dot Com.
Speaker 4 (41:38):
Up, you know, like.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world. The Rick
Burchard Show.
Speaker 2 (41:57):
Now about it, America. Thanks for being with us as
we cruise through another hour, getting you're ready for the weekends. Speedy,
Greg and Adler are all here and we thank you
for being with us on screen. Phone call is still
to come. Hayburg Hayburg, Stories of the day, Fox Seats
(42:17):
and another Burgess ball battle all happening today on the show.
All right, so got a this is not overly surprising
starting this hour. Something we've kind of talked about and
there's been theories about it, but now we're talking about
(42:38):
a major study. The word major is in the story
major study, major, major studies study is major. It's major.
So when it comes to soft drinks, may and you
know there's they can be the good, there can be
the bad, there can be the ugly. Oh yeah, well,
we have now studied one hundred and twenty thousand people
(43:02):
over ten years.
Speaker 7 (43:04):
That's a lot.
Speaker 2 (43:05):
None of them had liver disease when the research began.
None one hundred and twenty thousand of them. Over time.
Scientists tracked the participants what they drank and also assessed
their liver health.
Speaker 7 (43:22):
Are you ready for the findings If you are saying.
Speaker 2 (43:24):
Hey, people who drank a lot of sugar sweetened beverages
like soda, sweet tea, energy drinks had about a fifty
percent higher risk of developing a serious liver condition called
metabolic dysfunction associated with something liver disease okay, known as
(43:46):
fatty liver. Oh, we've heard of fatty liver. This was
not caused by alcohol, because they said this was linked
to sugary drinks of any kind. However, However, those who
drink diet drinks, low or non sugar sweetened beverages had
(44:06):
even a higher risk of liver disease at around sixty percent.
You're replacing the sugar with something else. This implies that
switching from regular to diet soda does not protect your
liver at all and might even make it worse. I
can say that, and there it is. Sugary drinks not good,
(44:27):
diet drinks worse, and.
Speaker 9 (44:32):
Real sugar in moderation is the way to go if
you're getting Yeah, real sugar coke is so good. It
is so so good.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
I grew up.
Speaker 9 (44:44):
It's so good. But drink a small glass bottle of it.
Don't get a seventy nine ounce a couple of it
every day.
Speaker 2 (44:51):
That's a big yeah.
Speaker 9 (44:52):
Don't don't do that every day.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
Everybody we're about with this drink just like six of
them in.
Speaker 9 (44:57):
A day, just all day long. It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
Couldn't do that. And like I said, nobody loves a
good coat classic better than me. By the way, me too.
I love it, and I have them from time to time,
but very very also sweet tea.
Speaker 7 (45:08):
I like sweet tea. I just don't drink it often.
Speaker 2 (45:11):
Now growing up that every supper, yeah we have. I
have gotten to the point I can't believe I'll ever
be this guy. I really because I just kind of
want the caffeine, which you know, be careful with that too, bird.
But I'm an unsweet tea guy. Just when I get
tired drinking water, and I want something different. I'll go
with unsweet tea. And I can't believe I drink it,
(45:31):
but I do. I never thought I would be the
sweet gut. I don't know.
Speaker 7 (45:36):
I don't put I don't put sweeteners in it. I
just drink it. Unsweet will live and it sucks.
Speaker 9 (45:39):
Well, you need to get out of Alabama.
Speaker 2 (45:42):
I don't get that. Yeah, it's not even good. I
just sometimes I just get so bored with water that
I need something. I don't want to sugar, I got it.
But anyway, water is the best choice. It removes the metal, uh,
the metabolic burden, and actually plastic actually prevents fat accumulation
and the liver hydrating is crucial.
Speaker 7 (46:03):
Water is still the best choice.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Yeah. By the way, saw a guy, and this happens
a lot with the elderly and speedy. I don't know
what you would have done. There's no way that you
could have remained in your booth. So I had lunch
yesterday with someone, and of course, you know, I don't
pay attention, so I apparently things are going on around me.
I didn't even notice, of course, and because both of y'all, yeah,
(46:28):
but well you know why, because we had something we're
trying to accomplish at the lunch. And imagine you all
together go into a game tonight, y'all.
Speaker 6 (46:34):
Miss so much.
Speaker 2 (46:35):
Greg and I are gonna enjoy going to sell little
high schol fotball together tonight. It's gonna be fun.
Speaker 6 (46:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (46:39):
So so anyway, by the way, you're coming into his world,
so you don't run his world. You come into his
world and let him sit where he wants to sit,
Let him go to concession stand when he wants to
go to the concession stand. You're not coming in and
managing him.
Speaker 10 (46:54):
Now.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
If you want to get here, if you want to
make the ConA eyes run with the grandkids, go right ahead. Yeah,
I bet you'll give that.
Speaker 7 (46:58):
You'll hand that off with you, you know, right in
the middle of a key play.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
Yeah. But anyway, so God love him. There was an
elderly man sitting at the table. To this moment, I
still haven't figured out because they didn't seem to be
any other family. Did you Did this guy just come
here by himself?
Speaker 11 (47:14):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (47:15):
And he was sitting there, and you know, this is
probably the worst case of not being aware of my surroundings. Now,
I couldn't see the door I was in. My back
was to the door. Okay, So so I start looking around.
I look over here to where his table is, and
he's surrounded by paramedics.
Speaker 1 (47:31):
And mis action.
Speaker 2 (47:36):
What's going on over there? I looked at the person
I was having lunch, and I'm like, hey, that's he's
in trouble over her. He goes, yeah, I've been watching that.
You didn't You didn't hear the ambulance pull up? And
I said no, and he goes, he goes, he goes.
There's all kinds of like lights in the parking lot.
There's like fire trucks. The gury's actually here. So I looked,
(47:56):
I look around like I got, let's say, you're in
trouble and so drawn of intention and going on about
ten minutes birds Oh wait a minute. These paramedics aren't
having lunch with him, they're they're assisting him. Yeah, and
so God love him. And he kept nodding off that yeah,
and like I saw they were sir, sir, sir, and
they'd get him back and they start putting ivs on him.
Speaker 7 (48:15):
But you know what I thought about, I bet he's dehydrating.
Speaker 2 (48:17):
Did you continue eating or juice? The watch.
Speaker 7 (48:21):
I actually believe it or not.
Speaker 2 (48:22):
I could do both, okay, But then I thought to myself,
you know, let's not let this take away from what
we're here to do.
Speaker 5 (48:30):
But it looks like he's got the help he needs.
He was looking for sweet two hundreds. You had to
help him out side that. You don't help anybody, you
know what.
Speaker 2 (48:38):
It's weird. And though he's like so observant with that
hyd that one thing that he actually helps people with. Yeah,
how about it, speedy, Greg, I do not think could
have stayed out of it. No, he'd have been imudging
the paramedic. Yeah, I want to know.
Speaker 7 (48:51):
I want to know that about you. When the paramedics
are there, can you stay out of it?
Speaker 9 (48:55):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (48:55):
Of course?
Speaker 2 (48:56):
Okay, because they hot Garrock your favor. That's not my world.
I mean.
Speaker 5 (48:59):
The only time I would help as if no one's
there to hell, right, you know, like if you're eating
and you see the man struggling before the paramedics get there.
Speaker 2 (49:09):
Apparently he's struggling and I never noticed it. Sure the
one that called no, I didn't. I didn't call him,
but somebody did. Back to your point though, and he
didn't have family with him. Lucky you buy himself, and
somebody said, somebody in the restaurant and actually noticed it.
Speaker 5 (49:22):
There's two things I have I have noticed just going
through it with my parents. Dehydration is the leading cause
to a lot of things.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
Yes, but also you're in trade.
Speaker 5 (49:31):
Also, I will mention dehydration and I don't know, it'll
just be just though. It'll be my default b D. Dehydrated.
Speaker 2 (49:38):
All right, So I were like two things. You always
say hydrated. If you have elderly people in your family
and they're struggling, always reckon enough, you say these two things.
They're dehydrated or they have your innu track infection. It's
always one of those, and one of them. Usually the
dehydration is will cause the other which causes confusion. Yeah, yeah,
it does. You got you got to keep the water
(49:59):
in them. They boy, they'll stop drinking water. And but
I drink a lot of water. I do, especially sitting here.
Speaker 7 (50:06):
Sitting here, I will I will peek till one o'clock.
Speaker 2 (50:09):
Oh yeah, easy, between the coffee. He's like, what in
the world the coffee, the water? You don't know how
many much we've drink all morning. So when I leave
out of here on my way home. I go about Lincoln.
You're gonna stop going back?
Speaker 6 (50:20):
Right?
Speaker 2 (50:20):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (50:21):
If I'm ever having to get out of here and
go somewhere to what you're saying, I'll stop.
Speaker 2 (50:25):
That's as far as I get, by the way, somebody
on textonation with a good one. If your mother Ganel
came looking for Sweet two hundred, she would finally get
to spend some time with you. Yeah, because you would
help and you wouldn't rush her there. Right, Yeah? Maybe
all right, I've become so over you know, ready to help.
I become an over reader on sweet drink. You're tying
(50:47):
people to Sweet two hundred. That or not show them
a minute like they work downstairs. There's other things yesterday
happen yesterday day. I said, you need hell with Sweet
two hundred. Person said no. I was like, what are
you talking like? You're staying around?
Speaker 7 (50:58):
You better decide where you're gonna go.
Speaker 2 (51:00):
So you just wait, Tony, you're looking at that board
a lot. Okay, we'll be back. So keep in mind,
if you're drinking sugary drinks, bad for fatty liver. If
you're drinking dot drinks even.
Speaker 5 (51:19):
Worse, drink lots of water with it A lot We'll
be right back to say.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
This is the rick Burgers Show. The people who don't
like this show, you wouldn't like anyway, the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (51:52):

not a lot of fun feel joy. All right, So listen,

a link at Rick Burgess show dot com under sponsors. Okay,
so some other things to discuss. Here's some Hey birds action.
Let's see the stuff for the audience is throwing out today.
Yeah we go hey bird, hey birde Uh. I know
(54:07):
men don't run in the rain birds, but I need
some clarification. Well, I get a lot of emails about this.
What about puddles in parking lots like some gas stations
the way the parking lot is made. If you park
at the pump and go walk in the store, there's water,
you know, pulling to a drain somewhere, and the width
(54:27):
of the running water is just a little wider than
your stride. My question is do you kind of do
a little hop over the water?
Speaker 6 (54:35):
Do you just step in it?
Speaker 10 (54:37):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (54:37):
And deal with wet foot? Now, remember some of this
goes you got. Don't violate all of Dad's rules. Okay, yes,
we don't run in the rain. But he also had
a chapter that I have in the book, don't be stoopid.
You can do yeah, and and yeah, dodger puddles. Fine,
there's a there's no one that gets gets over your
shoes that day. Have you have you ever taken a chance?
(55:00):
You thought you were okay like you said? And also
here comes over my shoe it is and then that
song gets wet and does socks ever get dry. Now
mean once they get wet, I mean you can't hang
them up.
Speaker 7 (55:12):
So so you yes, you can.
Speaker 2 (55:14):
You can hop over a puddle. That's perfectly fine. Do
what you have to do to keep, you know, from
stepping in a puddle. We're not required to step in puddles. Uh,
So there you go, Rick, please cue up? What about
the dog?
Speaker 9 (55:26):
What about them?
Speaker 2 (55:30):
My wife and I are staying at my daughter's house
taking care of the grandkids while her and her husband
are on a business trip. Well, I also have to
deal with their dog.
Speaker 6 (55:41):
I'll call that.
Speaker 7 (55:43):
I wish you wouldn't the grand dog. Please don't, please, don't,
please don't call it that.
Speaker 16 (55:49):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (55:50):
Of course, this dog's never had an accident in the
house until this morning. I had to rush out to
meet movers at a second home near my daughter's while
I'm hurting. Uh uh. When I'm headed out of the house,
I guess it's a type of As I'm headed out
of the house, I hear my wife yelling upstairs that
(56:10):
the dang dog is now peed all over the place.
All I can say is, what about the dang what
about the yeah all over? Yeah?
Speaker 7 (56:19):
Yeah, speaking how many dogs you currently thinker back to three.
Speaker 2 (56:22):
Okay, that's good. See that, This is what happens. It
never fails when you become the main person for somebody
else's dog, even in family, they for some reason they
do things they never do when they're with their original owners.
I don't know if this is a protest. They don't
like that. Uh but but you know, any anytime that
(56:43):
dogs in the house, when they start doing that, it's
have you ever gone to someone's house that like has
a a male cat that apparently they haven't dealt with
and that and that male cat is sprayed all over
their hands? Okay?
Speaker 10 (56:58):
With it?
Speaker 18 (57:00):
That?
Speaker 3 (57:00):
All right?
Speaker 7 (57:01):
Do you feel like you're kind of living out in
the woods? I mean, what the world are we talking
about here?
Speaker 19 (57:06):
Hey?
Speaker 2 (57:06):
Birds? Hey, bird's got a little dilemma on my hands.
Need the show's help. Okay. My buddy Tyler, or as
we call him peacock interesting and I get that name suddenly,
I know what he looks like, has recently jumped on
board with the show, which I'm excited about that it's started. Pecock,
it started when I loaned him a copy of Men
Don't Run in the Rain. That hooked him.
Speaker 7 (57:26):
Well, I'm glad to hear that.
Speaker 2 (57:27):
He's a huge fan also of Strange Encounters the podcast.
When it comes to the show's history, though, guys, he's lost.
He even asked me some questions about Dicky Nadmire and
if that's a real person. He doesn't know anything about Patches.
To make it even more complicated, his views and opinions
best aligned with Adler. Well, now that's all right, and
(57:51):
he says, he said, that's really cool. Well this you'll
love this next line.
Speaker 7 (57:56):
And my big concern there is he's also a youth pastor.
Speaker 2 (58:00):
Oh wow, shot is that you? I don't know, so Berg,
what do we do to catch Peacock up on decades
of content that the four of you were involved in
prior to this show?
Speaker 7 (58:13):
Is there a crash?
Speaker 2 (58:13):
Course? Do I just let him wander in confusion? Somebody
helped me, by the way, did get our tickets to
the man Church conference? Fired up about that? Shout out
to Band of Lions, small group. Okay, good, thanks for
all you guys. Do that's from Nathan. Well, I think
there's a couple options there. You certainly can can let
(58:35):
him just kind of gradually pick him on things as
he goes. Now, if you think he needs some of
our prior history the three decades we all worked on
the Rick and Bubba show.
Speaker 7 (58:44):
We do have Rick and Bubba's greatest hits in Radio Gold.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
That's a podcast that comes out most every weekend and
it's all the history of that show. So there's one
thing and you just simply tell him to go there
wherever he gets podcast and listen that. There's also all
the Rick and Bubba albums out there on your streaming services. Uh,
they're all available, So you have access to to all
(59:09):
kinds of archives of those three decades. And if you
think that'll help him understand, Now there's some things that
have you know, developed uniquely here. Now how you go
back and get him over the last you know, ten months. Uh,
there's archives for that too, so you can you can
take care of that as well. So it's kind of
on you, Nathan, to catch peacock up and but but
(59:33):
you're but take him on little steps, don't fire hosing. Yeah,
you know what I mean. Just give him little steps
at a time, or maybe when something happens that confuses him,
you go. Now, let me give you the background. You
know that that's another way to go get help in
the law yeah, but there's some options. Yeah, yeah, boy,
Bete Oega. Welcome Pete. Got glad to have you, buddy.
Much to do going forward on the program. Still got
(59:56):
topics to cover, Got box seats coming up, Got a
burges Ball battle coming up, Got unscreen phone calls coming up.
So there's a lot still out there if you miss
any part of the case of the Daily Archives on
the podcast.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who informed
Dipping Ducks that they were not, in fact the ice
cream of the future, Rick Birches, the.
Speaker 2 (01:00:32):
Doom a job, stem a job. Thanks for being with
us today, America, Speedie, Greg and Adler here. Okay, if
you are searching and uh get this question a good
bit fellas. Glad to be glad to get it. Uh,
and from some of your wives as well. Uh, is
(01:00:52):
there is there a church near me doing main church?
Speaker 15 (01:00:55):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:00:55):
Anybody whether there's uh, there's over two thousand of them
across the country. One of the best ways to do
it is to just look at the manchurch dot com
on events coming up, meaning that they it'll show you
all the man churches and who's gonna be speaking there?
And West Point, Mississippi, the land of ninety six one.
You are in for a treat at First Presbyterian Church
(01:01:17):
coming up this Saturday night. They're going to feed you
at five point thirty. Steve Wright will be speaking at
their Manchurch starting at seven. If you want to be
part of that, find those details at the manchurch dot
com right there under events. And then next weekend I'm
looking ahead Florence, Alabama, Hartseul Alabama, So if you want
(01:01:39):
to go check those you can as well if you're
in those areas for next weekend. And of course the
conferences coming up in January, which is our entire weekend
that we do a couple of those a year with
the multiple speakers. Those tickets are on cell now also
at the manchurch dot com. How big are all of
you on? Somebody giving you the proper thank you? Did that?
(01:02:02):
Does that mean a lot to you? Well, I appreciate it.
Do you care that somebody says thank you? You know,
thank you or thank you well? Thank you?
Speaker 8 (01:02:12):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
Like Jack? Do you say that? Well?
Speaker 7 (01:02:15):
Being being cordial and and everything.
Speaker 5 (01:02:17):
I don't think that a thank you is always necessary,
but in most cases it just comes out in me, hey,
thank you, uh.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
And I do yeah, I don't I like to thank you.
I like I like if if somebody's kids, when somebody's
talk to their kids to always be sure you say
thank you, be sure.
Speaker 4 (01:02:38):
You know I like it. I like it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:39):
Yes, sir, no, sir, yes, ma'am no, ma'am. Well, apparently
I don't know that I would take it this far.
A woman in Texas was shot and killed and a
shot and killed. Yeah, I mean fatality like I'm dead, yes,
and a pet Spark parking lot adler, what about Yeah,
after an argument over not saying thank you, I'd rather
(01:03:04):
just say thank you. Yeah, this is what they want
to be thanked for. At a Pet Smart opening the door.
That's it. That's it. Open the door, opened the door,
thank you, And it made me mad. Cecilia listen to this.
Cecilia Simpson was shot several times. What this is a
sad story outside a Pet Smart in Dallas, Texas, Tuesday
(01:03:27):
of this week around one pm. Witnesses told police that
Cecilia Simpson held the door open for Keana zakuwah Hampton
enough at a five below store. Okay, okay, so I
guess that she was Maybe it's besides the pets. Yeah, yeah,
(01:03:48):
I've seen some five blows by Smart. Yeah, yeah, I
bet you have. Simpson allegedly became irritated that Hampton did
not say thank you for her holding opened the door,
triggering an argument. Simpson and her daughter went to their
car and drove to Pet Smart, which was in that
same plaza. As we said, when Simpson and her daughter
(01:04:09):
entered the Pet Smart store, she told employees that they
were now being followed by Hampton. Hampton go walked into
the store and began arguing with Simpson's daughter. Hampton exited
the store, but returned a few minutes later when she
allegedly started another argument with Simpson. Now remember this all
(01:04:30):
started with somebody not getting to thank you for holding
the door at five blow. She's now being asked by
the Pet Smart people to please.
Speaker 7 (01:04:37):
Leave the store.
Speaker 2 (01:04:38):
She threw a bottle at the vehicle Simpson was driving
with her daughter in it, and then, according to police,
a physical fight then ensued when Hampton took out a
handgun and allegedly shot Simpson three times. Bam bam bam. O.
Please that's it.
Speaker 6 (01:04:56):
Thank you.
Speaker 7 (01:04:56):
She was arrested and.
Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Followed her to Pet Smart and continued the confrontation. I
want you all to know that at five below Cecilia
held the door, apparently for Hampton. She said, Hey, Hampton,
you didn't give me a thank you for that. Hampton
didn't take that well. Led to arguments, followed them to
pet Smart argued about it again through a bottle to
(01:05:20):
their vehicle that that's I guess that got the car stoped.
They got into an argument about now throwing the bottle
up my vehicle, then handguns shoot you three times? Someone
is dead today simply by saying to someone else you
didn't give me a thank you?
Speaker 6 (01:05:34):
Wow?
Speaker 7 (01:05:35):
Or the NASCAR shirt, well that this has been a
weird wing.
Speaker 2 (01:05:39):
We're shooting people. Sure has now? Look is it rude?
Speaker 5 (01:05:43):
If somebody does something like that, it would bother me
long enough that I no, no, But it doesn't. It
doesn't shouldn't get to this. And sometimes a thank you
could just simply be like a nod of like, hey, appreciate.
Speaker 2 (01:05:57):
It, thank you yesterday. I always say thank you when
somebody holds the door for me, and I hold the
door for people.
Speaker 5 (01:06:03):
How long will you hold the door because you can
kind of see that somebody's coming in behind you, do
you how long do you hold it?
Speaker 2 (01:06:11):
Like, how many Mississippis long? I thought I was Mississippi
to Mississippi.
Speaker 7 (01:06:18):
I do want to apologize. You let it close on him?
Speaker 2 (01:06:20):
Yeah, I do want to apologize to a not so
large Asian man. I held the door for him. I
think he expected me to hold it longer than I did.
At one point it was time for him to take
control of the door, and he wasn't ready for it.
He let the door with it, lost his footing a
little bit. He didn't fall, So he thought you were
going to did you say large Asian man? I don't
(01:06:41):
know if I small. I didn't think.
Speaker 6 (01:06:48):
So.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
You know how it was a pretty heavy door and
I had it held open and he was coming and
I felt like he's too much door for him. I
thought he was a quarter of the way in, so
I released and it basically just pushed him and was
on it.
Speaker 7 (01:07:00):
And I didn't mean for that to happen.
Speaker 2 (01:07:01):
I thought he had it. How about when you hold
the door open and you get stuck?
Speaker 9 (01:07:05):
I mean, now he comes a lot there, here's a
whole line of people. Yeah, great, you now I'm a
door man.
Speaker 5 (01:07:12):
Okay, if you then then it's the the you get
to the door at the same time, it's go ahead, no,
you go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:07:18):
I bet you two block. I bet somebody was shut awful,
somebody was shot and killed over a lack of thank you.
I understand. If you get a thank you, do you
always follow with her? You're welcome, no problem, You're a
no problem? Hey, yeah problem, no problem, happy to do it.
Speaker 6 (01:07:36):
How are you?
Speaker 2 (01:07:37):
I'm a my pleasure guy? You are sorry about that?
If you just joined, what would I say? I just say,
my pleasure?
Speaker 6 (01:07:45):
What are you doing?
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
Twelve grill nuggets?
Speaker 6 (01:07:47):
Sorry?
Speaker 2 (01:07:48):
Sorry about that? But you know what I mean? So
I say, hey, thank you, Hey, my pleasure, my pleasure. Really,
that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 6 (01:07:56):
I say, what you know?
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
Good?
Speaker 2 (01:07:57):
Move on?
Speaker 7 (01:07:59):
You ever thought this one? You're more than welcome?
Speaker 2 (01:08:02):
Because I'm not that excited because you're what does that
even mean? What's more than welcome? I know? What's the more?
You can't be more than welcome? By the way, I
want to tell everybody this. When Dave Ramsey started using
better than I Deserve in his show, the rest of
us are supposed to stop seeing it. Yeah, yeah, he
(01:08:23):
owns that now, even though he didn't originally come up
with it. I got it.
Speaker 7 (01:08:28):
And it is a true statement, but we can't say
it because it's Ramseys.
Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
Now, Yeah, I have noticed that I go to something
too much, and I've after doing it, I've actually had
to stop.
Speaker 2 (01:08:39):
I've made myself You've got to stop. And that is
that if.
Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
Someone's in a handle and they've got some kids and
they apologize, I'll respond with, hey, don't worry about that,
I've raised three of them. And it sends it seems
to calm them, like, oh, he knows, he knows what
he's talking about. But I've also noticed that I go
to that too much too. It's like they don't really
care that I've raised.
Speaker 2 (01:09:02):
You don't it's likely apply Oh wow, you've only you
do that every time.
Speaker 5 (01:09:07):
Well, it's like, you know, maybe I'm holding the door,
or there's some kids that are a handle and a
mom or dad's trying to get them through and I'm
so sorry, Oh don't worry about I've.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Raised three of them.
Speaker 4 (01:09:16):
I know what you know.
Speaker 7 (01:09:18):
I've actually know that I'll do that way too much.
Speaker 2 (01:09:21):
I've done that with rowdy little boys, and I don't
understan it with any kid. But if it's rowdy little
boys and somebody says I'm so sorry. I have some
time said, look, we've raised five, four of them boys,
no problem. Does it seem to calm them down? I say,
been there. Don't they really want your family history? Yeah,
that's what I that's where I go through. Then, Yeah,
(01:09:42):
for their age and stuff, because yours drove. You know,
it's don't make money less speedy. Would you like to
know that I saw an elderly woman struggling to get
top chef Uh. When I went to get groceries for
you know which nobody cares how fishing I am. When
I get groceries for the office, you're by yourself.
Speaker 10 (01:09:59):
I know.
Speaker 2 (01:10:00):
That's what I'm talking about it, So it's freedom. But
I noticed an elderly woman struggling for that top chelf,
and I went over and helped her get get what
she needed.
Speaker 8 (01:10:08):
Did you do this?
Speaker 2 (01:10:09):
Let her put her foot in it? No, I didn't
say that. I just step on my fence, step on
my head, and I did. But the reason why I
said that is I did what you did. I added
some information that wasn't necessarily Yeah. She goes, she goes,
thank you, thank you, she sound and I looked at
her and I said that my wife's about your heart.
I said, I'm accustomed to this. That wouldn't necessarily what comfortable.
Speaker 7 (01:10:34):
Don't know if that's not necessary.
Speaker 4 (01:10:37):
I don't know that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:38):
I know a lot of short people don't worry about it. Yeah,
and I and then I shouldn't have done that. That
lad took then a conversation about the weather, because now
she thinks, hey, I got somebody to talk to you.
Oh my coins are hurt. No, she didn't get today.
Speaker 9 (01:10:54):
Did you push her out of the way, Say lady,
I'm trying to make good time here.
Speaker 2 (01:10:57):
Get out of them, Get out of my way time,
I said, have with your host shopping trip and I
gotta get back.
Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, refusing to attempt to
reism with unreasonable people.
Speaker 2 (01:11:23):
Rick Budges, Yep, that's old Rick no longer. Thank you
for being with us today, America.
Speaker 9 (01:11:33):
Okay, so.
Speaker 2 (01:11:35):
We talk a lot here in the new Era that
we're gonna try our best to stay in the real world.
This is this is getting more difficult. The world is
so hard to uh, what's real? What's not real? I'll
tell you I was so spook spooked.
Speaker 7 (01:11:54):
Was it yesterday when Dolly Parton had to come back?
Or was that when when did Dolly had to tell
us she was alive, that her sister basically had all
think she was dying.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
Yes, was that yesterday?
Speaker 9 (01:12:03):
Well, the day before it happened. Then we played the
video yesterday?
Speaker 2 (01:12:05):
Okay, okay, she real though, because I meant and she
looked to me just like she was ready to perform, right,
and you know, and then they and then and then
they showed the a I picture that people created a
Reba McIntyre at her deathbed. I know that you that
you couldn't you could tell if you really looked, But
(01:12:27):
I mean if I didn't know, I mean that could
pop up. Well, I think it's only gonna get worse.
Here's a story today. You will never trust video again.
Do you remember the term seeing is believing? Not anymore?
Not so fast? Not so fast?
Speaker 7 (01:12:43):
You'll never trust video again. Once you see what am
I saying?
Speaker 11 (01:12:46):
It right?
Speaker 7 (01:12:46):
Adler Sora to.
Speaker 9 (01:12:49):
What Sora.
Speaker 19 (01:12:51):
Can do.
Speaker 2 (01:12:53):
It's open AI's new video generating app. I don't like
that they're saying it's it's mind blowing, and many are
saying terrifying. Yeah, yeah, I don't know how it like.
Speaker 5 (01:13:05):
Investigators and other people are gonna be able to determine
what's real, what's fake and stuff, because now.
Speaker 2 (01:13:12):
Greg, I could put you anywhere. Yeah, yeah, yeah, you're right,
you can do that. And so like I do, I
got duped.
Speaker 5 (01:13:20):
I sent y'all a video and I don't even know
if you you saw it, a direct message just for
show prep of a child standing outside a door and
an alligator is coming up to them like they're in
Florida or something, and the kid says, I'm just feeding
him and the mom is screaming trying to get to
the front door, and it looks so real, but it's.
Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
Ai And that was way Grego. I wish you could
see this.
Speaker 7 (01:13:44):
That was way before we.
Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
Have them fall from Megladon. You're doing it again. No,
I did not. Yeah, here it is. Yeah, watch this
for those of you can't look, and you got to
hear the audio from it, cause it's like I'm just
got a little Yeah, they're getting an alligator doesn't look real, right,
(01:14:06):
that's not a good one. There's nothing real about that. Well,
then again, you thought magl don was guys, I did not.
Speaker 4 (01:14:15):
I did not.
Speaker 7 (01:14:15):
But if you just sit on your phone and it
pops up on a reel or something.
Speaker 2 (01:14:18):
You're like, you're like, what you know?
Speaker 7 (01:14:21):
Well, apparently Sora too was real. By the way, if
you think.
Speaker 2 (01:14:27):
By was done with the ocean, you like bud Light's
a hush about I think Greg Will will take that
to the rest of his life. Yeah. Yeah, it was
a conversation and then he spins it into neither one
of us, did you know?
Speaker 9 (01:14:41):
And these videos are getting weirder and weirder. Here's Michael
Jackson stealing chicken from someone here.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
We can't slow me down, and.
Speaker 17 (01:14:55):
That is.
Speaker 2 (01:14:57):
And it looked real, by the way, Yeah it was.
That looked real. Yeah, so apparently came back. This is
only gonna get better. So guys, so you're.
Speaker 5 (01:15:07):
Telling me the alligator didn't look fake at first at first,
but then when I sent it, I was like, wait
a minute, and then I caught myself.
Speaker 7 (01:15:15):
Now, this Michael Jackson one did look real.
Speaker 2 (01:15:17):
But what I'm talking you guys, are we gonna we'll
get to the point where, especially what we do for
a living, you're gonna get a video and you have
no idea whether it's real or not real, because it's
just gonna get better quality. Yes, And they're saying it's
only getting better now. Video thirteen. Here's something from AI.
What is this? Adler?
Speaker 9 (01:15:35):
Yeah, in fact, funny, really cool. Yeah, I'll play this
really funny one in one second. Ky, I've got this
other one keued up. Just while we're talking about it
getting better and better, y'all might well, we were just
talking about how it's getting better, and here's here's a
video that shows us exactly that. Do y'all remember the
Will Smith eating spaghetti video that we had around two
years ago when AI was coming out. We played this
(01:15:57):
video on the show Will Smith Eating Spaghetti and it
looked weird and it looked fake, and it looked bad.
But we were like, I can't believe this AI video
isn't real. None of it is real, but I can't
believe it doesn't look real. But it's weird that this
was made by a computer. It looked bad, it did
not look good. But now we can see this is
(01:16:17):
AI now, So just in too show. In two short years,
we've gone from this non sensical, oh wow weirdness to
absolute photo reel. If you didn't know any difference, you
would think it's Will Smith eating spaghetti for real.
Speaker 2 (01:16:33):
I'm hungry.
Speaker 9 (01:16:33):
You can see how much.
Speaker 2 (01:16:34):
One chose Will Smith.
Speaker 6 (01:16:37):
Left.
Speaker 9 (01:16:38):
It's a it's a difficult thing to make. That's why
they chose it. They're like, all right, eating is a hard.
Speaker 2 (01:16:45):
Thing any celebrity. I don't know why they picked him,
but the point is, look how much better it's gotten
in a.
Speaker 9 (01:16:50):
Short amount of time.
Speaker 2 (01:16:52):
A lot better.
Speaker 9 (01:16:53):
It looks fake to real. Yeah, and then that's that.
And then Greg, I think the person that was using
this AI program has been listening to the show because
they made the Women's Olympics in AI. Oh yeah, you're
gonna see different events here, Greg, a beer to your
husband on the couch.
Speaker 2 (01:17:13):
This is genius. That is awesome.
Speaker 9 (01:17:16):
All right, So there's uh, there's number one now washing rhythm.
Speaker 2 (01:17:20):
God, that's funny.
Speaker 9 (01:17:21):
They're washing dishes, USA, scrubbing the glory that shines gold. Oh,
Germany's brush snaps all over her. The crowd goes wild.
And this is all fake, y'all.
Speaker 4 (01:17:29):
This is.
Speaker 9 (01:17:32):
The vacuum rings, guys, And yes, this was made with
so that pattern with the canist's right on our Usa
accelerating on the barlane and Morgan push that stick back,
beautiful straight lines. Already Brown's closing in lou trying to
keep pace. But it's all fake, y'all.
Speaker 2 (01:17:49):
None of these people, it all looks real.
Speaker 9 (01:17:52):
The background looks real.
Speaker 2 (01:17:53):
They're cleaning the bathroom in an event. We're not going
to be able to trust anything. No, rig if you
had AI ability, you would have created this. Oh this
is excellent. Whoever come up with that? Right now? Michael
Jackson is stealing chickens.
Speaker 7 (01:18:04):
Pretty good too, it is, But do you really alligator?
So here's the thing. Imagine what Megladom would look like today.
Speaker 2 (01:18:10):
Wow, that was four years ago. I didn't fell for look,
kind of fell for it, kind of fell for it.
Pell is not going to win tonight if you keep
this up. But this sura too thing you just showed
it said, is why it's going to be so scary.
So every person in that is not real. People are
not real, correct, not just what we're making them do. Well,
(01:18:31):
if you look close to one, one was Will Smith
right right, but spaghetti, But that looks like a comedy
skit that you just got women to do act and
and they're not actors. They're all fake and created from nothing.
That's so to the point that you're making a minute ago.
If somebody wants to destroy you they video off. They
(01:18:52):
produce a video of you doing something that you didn't do,
and you're like, we didn't do it. We can all
play stealing chicken, right, and and you're like, that isn't me.
So is there gonna be some way?
Speaker 6 (01:19:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
Yeah, someone said here investigators, they have a way to know,
they have a program or something.
Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
Maybe they absolutely, yeah, you can, it'll be, it'll be.
Speaker 9 (01:19:16):
You can analyze. You can analyze the images to say, okay,
this was this was generated by AI. Just like when
we had a photoshop coming in and being like, oh,
that's a photoshop picture. There are programs that can analyze
the image and say no, I can see where this
has been manipulated. Now, I do think this video of
the Queen of England Professional Wrestling, I think this is really.
Speaker 2 (01:19:39):
Good climbing a fence. It's like, oh my gosh, it's
oh that's not real.
Speaker 1 (01:19:54):
But this is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 9 (01:20:02):
Welcome to the Rick Burgess Show. The voice reason for
another reason.
Speaker 2 (01:20:18):
Lighting up for incis Here we go, America. Are you
ready for a brand new hour? Here we go Speedy,
Greg and Adler all year We'll get into unscreened phone calls.
Fox Seats Phillip later Burgess ball battle. The winner goes
(01:20:38):
to the wheel of bundles, bits and bucks to see
what they can get away with today. Ah, the will,
it's it's been all over the road lately. There's will
no really no trend. Uh so a lot to cover.
I do want to continue on what we talked about
just for a moment in the last segment last hour.
This is the it's called Sosa too is and as
(01:21:01):
Ai gets more and more incredible and hard to discern
what's real and what's not, which is why we work
really hard to keep you in the real world best
we can. Uh text Nation you mentioned this, and yeah,
we actually talked about this when we did when the
Wednesday Bible study was in the Book of Revelation, we
(01:21:23):
talked about this, and a lot of you are picking
up on it. You're absolutely right. You know, there's a
lot of things that Antichrist is going to pull off.
And when you realize some of the deception, you think, well,
how's that going to take place? Well, I mean you
you could create anything now, and you know, and one
of the things that Antichrist is going to pretend to
(01:21:45):
do is to raise himself from the dead. He's going
to pretend to take a mortal head wound that that
should have been you know, death on the spot and
then magically, you know, supernaturally survive the headshot or the
head wound of whatever kind it is. And then of
course the false prophet will legitimize him saying, look, even
(01:22:06):
roses are from the dead, and dah dah, da da dah.
And so when you start thinking, with this AI technology
and special effects, faking something like that is nothing.
Speaker 7 (01:22:16):
You know, you see the.
Speaker 2 (01:22:20):
Platform being put together where deception is going to be
at your fingertips, it would actually be quite easy to
portray almost anything. So that's not really a big reach
because you know, you're reading some of the commentaries are like,
apparently it's funny to read the commentaries because none of
this technology was available, and to read the commentaries going
(01:22:43):
this will likely be done in some sort of special effects,
the kind of thing they had no idea how easy
that would be for you to portray something like that
is real and not be real. So anyway, yeah, some
of you picked up on that, and I agree with you.
I'm not saying that that's what's going to happen, but
you can certainly see how how how it could happen
(01:23:06):
really really easy.
Speaker 9 (01:23:07):
Here's here's Hitler fighting Michael Jackson. So you know, there's
there's I mean, it's anything you want, anything, anything you
want to generate, you can and it can do it
in like a different style, like you can make it
photo real or you can do it like an anime style,
cartoon style. It can make that even easier than it
(01:23:28):
can make real live stuff. Here's a SpongeBob being arrested.
It's just yeah, it's it's the capabilities are amazing. What
used to take a movie studio millions of dollars and
months to do, you can do it with a very
quick prompt. Hey have a rocket ship take off? A
rocket ship take.
Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
I heard that rocket chef ship take off, and the.
Speaker 9 (01:23:54):
Any and the astronaut jumps out of the cockpit and
slam dunks of basketball whatever. Type that in it a
few minutes, it spits it out.
Speaker 6 (01:24:02):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:24:02):
It's crazy. So if you were if you were like, uh,
if you want to type in, uh, let's pretend that
I had a mortal head wound, that I rose myself
from the dead. You wouldn't have any problem with that.
That wouldn't be even a couple of things to touch
you on too. Uh talking about Trump, a couple of
things in play. Trump has announced Columbus Day.
Speaker 7 (01:24:22):
Is that Monday? Is it coming to Columbus Day's Monday?
Speaker 20 (01:24:25):
Is?
Speaker 10 (01:24:25):
Uh?
Speaker 7 (01:24:25):
Columbus Day is Monday?
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Uh if you remember, uh it it turned it has
turned into some hybrid of what Indigenous people Day?
Speaker 7 (01:24:35):
And oh yeah, for years we've been having to say that.
Speaker 2 (01:24:37):
Yeah, you don't.
Speaker 7 (01:24:38):
You're not allowed to talk about Christopher Columbus and all that.
Speaker 16 (01:24:41):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:24:42):
So President Trump wants to announce that Columbus Day is back.
So so here he is another words, we're calling it
Columbus Day. Okay, that was the that broke out in
the plus I've never seen that happen before.
Speaker 15 (01:25:06):
The press.
Speaker 2 (01:25:07):
The press actually broke out in Applaus, good Columbus Day.
We're back, Columbus Day, We're back Attagians. And also the
ongoing discussion of the Nobel Peace Prize. How would this
ceasefire which started today in Gaza? So if all of
(01:25:31):
the sticks many people said that they thought Trump would
deserve the Nobel Prize, here is Trump talking about, Well,
if Obama got one, surely surely I'm going to get one.
Speaker 6 (01:25:48):
So here.
Speaker 9 (01:25:51):
Obama got a prize. He didn't even know what he
got it.
Speaker 2 (01:25:53):
He got elected, and they gave it to Obama for
doing absolutely nothing but destroying our country.
Speaker 9 (01:25:59):
No, he was He was not a good president. The
worst president was sleepy Joe Biden.
Speaker 1 (01:26:05):
But Obama was not a good president.
Speaker 9 (01:26:06):
Are you going to do something yet?
Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
Price?
Speaker 9 (01:26:09):
How many months after he won the election?
Speaker 8 (01:26:11):
Then they gave the peace pressure.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
He right after he was elected.
Speaker 9 (01:26:15):
My election was a much more important electors is not wrong?
You kind of want someone else to say it is
not wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:26:26):
Well, but he'll go ahead and say, well, this person
is not going to say anything negative about Obama. But
Fetterman is weighing in. He's surprising, he has well, he's
starting it's almost like when he got it, when he
got his mind fixed. He's becoming more conservative and read
off the computer. Fetterman was asked if President Trump deserves
the Nobel Peace Prize.
Speaker 7 (01:26:45):
Here's his answer.
Speaker 21 (01:26:46):
Do you think the president deserves a Nobel Peace Prize?
Speaker 22 (01:26:50):
Well, I mean, if if this sticks, I think that
the whole point of having a Nobel piece prizes for
ending wars and per brooning. And now I'm going to
make a direct appeal to the president. You know, I
hope he chooses to provide the Tomahawks to the Ukrainians
too and give them the tools that they need to
push back against the Russia. And if he brings the
(01:27:13):
Ukrainian war to its end, I will be the Democrat
leading uh the committee for his a Nobel price piece
fording both these terrible wars.
Speaker 2 (01:27:26):
Take take it back. I thought you were playing early
AI again, you know, before he got it down. And
still that's still talking like a robot who doesn't know
what he got an issue, and I'm not he's got
an issue. Let's leave it at that. So we played
the early the Peace Prize in the content.
Speaker 5 (01:27:45):
Yeah, and the clip we play played with President Trump
referring back to Obama winning. He did go on to
say that that's not why I'm doing it. This is
I'm trying to save lives. And that's not up to
me if if they get it to me or whatever.
Speaker 6 (01:27:59):
But uh, but I would.
Speaker 5 (01:28:00):
I saw where the get venezuel and Liberator opposition got
it today.
Speaker 2 (01:28:06):
I think for this year. Yeah, I saw that two
d Scott Jennings on CNN gets emotional over this hostage
as a peace deal that brings these hostages back, and
Jennings almost takes the squally so here he is.
Speaker 23 (01:28:22):
We'll probably go down as the most historic moment in
either of his two presidencies peace in the Middle East.
When those hostages do walk out, I mean they think
there's twenty that are alive. All day long, I have
been thinking about Editt o'hell, who I met in Israel
(01:28:43):
this summer. I was traveling there and she is the
mother of Alan Ohel. You may have heard of a
Lan He was taken hostage at the Nova Music Festival.
He's the jazz pianis. They have the pianos around, the
yellow pianos, And I will never forget meeting with her
and just the shatter life of a mother waiting for
her son to come home. And now he's going to
(01:29:05):
come home. And Donald Trump is responsible for it, and
I just don't think you can take anything away from it.
I don't know what a mass is going to do
in the future. I don't think we should trust these
people any farther than we can throw them. But for
the next few days, when those people come out, this
is an unqualified diplomatic victory for the United States of America.
(01:29:26):
It's not just a personal victory for the president, although
it is enormous, but this is the power of the
United States of America when it has a president that
is capable of showing bold and pragmatic leadership on the
world stage. So I couldn't be happier. But mostly because
of my friend Edid who I met in Israel. She's
going to get her boy back.
Speaker 2 (01:29:46):
There you go, so we'll see if he is a
surprized or not. But it doesn't really matter. As Scott
Jennings pointed out, and Trump did too, this was done
and what is accomplished is much more important than any prize.
We'll be back.
Speaker 7 (01:30:03):
We have a lot still to discuss here today on
the program.
Speaker 1 (01:30:09):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Strange and Colors, the
new podcast from Rick Burges's Get It No Wherever You Get.
Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
Podcasts, a brand new one coming out this weekend. We
talk a number of things, one of them that a
lot of you been asking about. We talk about Enox,
the Book of Enoch. We also talk about why and
there's a couple of accounts of this, but we concentrate
(01:30:50):
on Mark's account in Chapter nine of the Gospel of Mark.
Why were the disciples an able to cast out a demon?
And they go to Jesus and they say, so, how
can we get and cast it out? And he answers
their question, and we discussed that as well. We got
(01:31:11):
also a strange Encounter or two from the audience, and
then the last part of it, we talk about consecrating
maybe things that have happened on your property that you
don't want to haunt you for the rest of your life.
So all all of that coming up in this weekend's
edition of Strange Encounters, So go get that if you're
interested wherever you get podcasts. Greg speaking of this weekend,
(01:31:34):
you know, like I say, you you've got a big
in law family gathering. Uh this this means you've been
cleaning windows, You've you've had to prepare, you've got you've
had to go to the dump yesterday. Oh yeah, I
got a little different plan on that. It worked out.
What happened. No, Liks's sister said, Hey, if you're going
(01:31:55):
to throw that away, just bring it over here with
the place to store it in. And then that if
we have a bunch of company one day, we can
just pull out more chairs. We'll be din't it chewed
up by the dog. It's not that bad. Okay, you
don't want to add like, oh, look at my house
and my furniture, but if you want to pull it
out as an extra, yeah, so that kind of worked out.
But this, basically yesterday. I don't want to get the
(01:32:18):
wrong impression. This isn't like a family reunion. It's Lisa's
siblings and their kids and their kids. Oh do you
get some gathering you get some day. I just some
Davis just saying, hey, we weren't invited. No, no, that's
not true. I was just saying I made it sound like.
If I made it sound that way, it's not. We
said gathering. Yeah, that's what we did. It were invited to, right,
always anything event I have all right, the new furniture's out.
(01:32:42):
Oh yeah, you sprayed stuff on it. You don't know
if that's why she hasn't need it yet. So still
the new furniture has not been chewed on. It hasn't
and it's up there on this back porch. Part of
it is where she likes to sleep. And I figured
that boy, that one has no chance. But so far,
so good. Huh. We got the two rogue dogs that
show them the middle of the night, and Lisa, of course,
(01:33:03):
Lisa was putting out moms and stuff, you know, whether
we have anybody coming or not. And I'm waiting on
one of them. Get holdingm moms because they got their
pillows and shredded them. And then they keep bringing things
people that live somewhere somewhat close to me. If you
are missing, like a sandal, I may have it. They
brought a sandal up the other day. They'll bring they
(01:33:23):
love a good pillow. They'll bring pillows from other houses
to minuse. Really, yeah, shred them, shred them right in
the yard like snowed. But no, yeah, I've got the
windows cleaned. I got it. I'm ready. Are we ready?
We're ready? What kind of food we're doing? All kinds
of their soups and little sandwiches and nuggets and that's
all kinds of good stuff.
Speaker 7 (01:33:44):
Everybody gonna we're gonna watch little football.
Speaker 2 (01:33:45):
Sure it's gonna be on the tube, Okay, absolutely, Okay, Yeah,
I've got Bama Missouri on. Yeah now now, but that's y'all.
Don't start to after that. Yeah, about two thirty, because
I know most of the Davis's Bama fans ain't coming
to after Well, if we get in their house, I
may stir it up a little. If they're not playing, well,
they love to they love the tide. Well we got
(01:34:08):
a few, yeah, pretty much? Yeah, her brother? Now am
I am I remembering this wrong? Did you have to do?
And she didn't?
Speaker 7 (01:34:17):
I know she didn't overall doesn't care that much.
Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
But doesn't Lee. She's not tired, is she. No, she's
the only one of her family that's not.
Speaker 4 (01:34:24):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:34:25):
And you know why because when she was a kid
she thought Auburn's colors were nice.
Speaker 6 (01:34:28):
Her.
Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Oh that's why she chose them. Okay, she's right. And
then but the rest of her family, including her her dad,
he was huge, huge, I know, I know, Look, I
know that I remember that. And then but uh, and
then the fact that with Lee dad played there, then
Blake played there, and yeah so and then Taylor he
was he's always been all yeah, okay, yeah, but yeah,
(01:34:51):
but her original she picked them because she likes their
team colors. So that's a good way to make sure.
That's where everything's everything's coming on. I ain't ain't quite out,
you know, But how's your overall attitude about it? It's
been actually good is it really? Which is surprised me?
This is coming from him. I wish we could talk
to different so you know exactly how to go. She
(01:35:17):
will throw me under the bush. She's never given a
positive phone call through this show about me ever. No,
but you know I that it says about me. Could
it be Greg that she just don't want lie? Probably? So,
especially stuff like that. I wanted to ask you a
bigger question of Greg's world. Last year, your Christmas tree
(01:35:41):
stayed up for a very long time. Yeah, did very
long time. Looking back, considering where we are now, do
you kind of wish you just left it up?
Speaker 9 (01:35:50):
You know?
Speaker 2 (01:35:52):
I think we saw March. I think, well, I will
say that I think the big one was down before March,
but there were two that were up. See, I think
that we're kind of they. I think she took one
off right now. You would have made it, I know,
I reckon Now we've got a whole different look in
the living room. We don't know what the big tree
is going to go, go to two other trees and
(01:36:15):
hope the big one doesn't come back up. Yeah. I think,
by the way, somebody is just somebody's just an a
I picture of all four of us as kiss? Okay,
so so look, what's his name? Right, merciful remember the
what's the what's the demonic singer? That's how you look like?
(01:36:35):
Thank you? What's his name?
Speaker 24 (01:36:37):
You know?
Speaker 7 (01:36:37):
And I hate that they don't make him age freely
though they don't.
Speaker 2 (01:36:40):
I don't want to google that. Then he mentioned when
he would make up he wore and that's not that's
what is that is? That is that AI just sing
from merciful faith. It looks like it's a I of us?
So yeah, because that's is that Gene Simmons ball headed?
Speaker 9 (01:36:55):
Uh yeah, supposed to be ball head? Yeah yeah, that
just looks like kiss now that I think about it.
Speaker 2 (01:37:01):
With that, yes, kiss, that look like yeah, funny a
little bit so. But Greg, you would have you would
have made it if you I mean, if you just
left it up, I know. And now you've got to
go through all that again. Oh and I remember putting
it up, going I'm wu'na believe and taking it back out.
Speaker 5 (01:37:18):
Now a lot of people justify keeping it up, but
they change like, oh, there's an Eastern tree, I just
take it down if I gotta do it, Atriot tree
in the summer.
Speaker 2 (01:37:25):
And then we got a hassle. Yeah, but yeah, we may.
I don't know if Big Mom is coming back out
for another for her seventeenth or eighteenth year. I don't
remember how many years.
Speaker 7 (01:37:34):
Well, the Christmas Eve pressure now shifts back to me.
Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
Yeah, that's right. We're hosting issues. We rotate it. It's
back to me, back to you, sir. So now now
I'll be in all that. You're gonna have to have
one end of the pargola. But by the way, those
are gonna hire his Yeah, those of you that have
been asking the pergola is now stained, I'm saying, just
like him, it's staying on the top end of the bottom.
Speaker 7 (01:37:58):
Now, she was right, she saw that.
Speaker 2 (01:38:01):
You believe they didn't. I don't know what there was.
It wasn't a lot because because it's not about color,
it's also about protecting the wood. Yeah, yeah, that's the
whole reason.
Speaker 7 (01:38:09):
So if the if the top of it wasn't treated
and stained and it was gonna rot.
Speaker 5 (01:38:14):
See I thought it was a natural color until he
showed us the picture, and it's like a light gray,
so the very top you could see the original.
Speaker 2 (01:38:22):
Color, so it was obvious it wasn't. Yeah, it wasn't
that obvious to me looking at it? Well, it's a
lot you see in a restaurant. Yes, do you know
why it's that color? You know, I've been telling you
that thing where I like, I'm reopinionated about things I
don't care about anymore. I got reopinionated about that, and
I influenced her. Announced she's got that color that was
on me.
Speaker 1 (01:38:42):
Oh, this is the Rick Burgers show.
Speaker 6 (01:38:58):
I'm the most emo.
Speaker 1 (01:39:00):
Was ten minutes in redeo unscreened phone calls get in
though by dialing one eight eight eight six big flocks.
Speaker 2 (01:39:09):
All right, so here we go America. All ten lines
open for you, and if you want to join us,
make that move now. It's the most dangerous ten minutes
in radio. Why is ken Osborn say that, birch, Because
there's nothing between you and us, no screener. We just
come in here, one after another, rapid fire and we
(01:39:30):
deal with it in real time. Simplysafe, dot com slash
big vox. What's the security system supposed to do well?
For many for decades, to be reactive. Something's happened. We're
reacting and that's better than nothing. But with AI technology
(01:39:52):
there's some good things now, simply Safe has developed these
cameras that are proactive. They can actually spot intruders coming
on to the property, alert the monitor mantra starts to
engage that person in real time, gets law enforcement on
the way, and it keeps a break in from ever happening. Yes,
(01:40:13):
you can get one at half price right now. First
timers go to Simplysafe dot com slash big Vox. That's
fifty percent off your first system. Also, there's no safe
like simplysafe dot com slash big Vox. So make that
move today. Here we go to the phones. We go,
we'll get started. Hello, you're on the Rick Burgess Show.
(01:40:35):
Unscreen phone calls, Go ahead.
Speaker 10 (01:40:38):
Rick.
Speaker 25 (01:40:38):
You know you can sift on Henny and be a
baptist at the same time.
Speaker 2 (01:40:44):
Yeah, as long as no one sees you, right, yeah,
I mean all the time. That's funny. That's funny. You
gotta be careful with that, kanyak. We continue, Rick Burgers Show.
Unscreen phone calls. Go ahead, Rick and the boys.
Speaker 16 (01:41:01):

the to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
Speaker 24 (01:41:16):
But man, they looked good this year.
Speaker 2 (01:41:19):
Oh thank you. I appreciate that. Yeah, they might improved.
Speaker 14 (01:41:23):
Yeah, man, uh congrats, hey Rick, Uh the Strange Encounters deal,
Uh very good man.
Speaker 24 (01:41:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (01:41:34):
I was disappointed at first because you know, there was
no humanities or aliens.
Speaker 4 (01:41:40):
But then I'm doing Yeah, but I've been pleasantly surprised
with it. Man.
Speaker 14 (01:41:47):
I worked the midnight shift and and go to sleep
to it sometimes and uh man, it's uh, it's it's
it's getting five. I was wondering, Uh, have you ever
heard of the the book by C. S. Lewis, The
Screw Tape Letter, of course? Yeah, yeah, okay, good deal.
That's uh, that's that.
Speaker 2 (01:42:08):
It reminds me of that, man, Yeah, it was. Uh
and have you ever seen the play, the actual play
that they do on that too. It's really really good.
And uh yeah, we've referenced that a few times. And
people are also looking at some of the things that C. S.
Lewis wrote and going, wow, these things are happening right now.
Speaker 4 (01:42:26):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:42:26):
So thank you for that. Your call. We continue unscreen
phone calls go ahead.
Speaker 14 (01:42:31):
I mean, hey, I'm telling you you can't even have
a rain show.
Speaker 2 (01:42:36):
Yeah, very good. I'm gonna tell you if we don't
do something about I'm telling you, I mean, you can't
do anything ansdrizing mommy you We continue.
Speaker 7 (01:42:45):

Speaker 25 (01:42:53):

didn't coup? Is that giving you a term to the
theme pack boy boy boy?
Speaker 2 (01:43:03):
Doesn't it? As Joelle said? Rick Bergers show on screen
phone calls, Go ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:43:09):
Rick Art was having her homecoming and now to come

Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
Coming, come on, go ahead, Good morning, guys.
Speaker 4 (01:43:39):
I need to rant this morning. We ran it the
other day. I called in about the caller poet after
y'all talked about it, and uh, we need to rant
about these drivers. I can work, go to work at
twenty six thirty and seven here in Jackson and not
turning your headlights on it is still dark outside.
Speaker 2 (01:43:55):
Yeah that's not that's not smart now, yeah it really is.
Rick Bergers unscreened phone calls. Go ahead, money in direct,
Hey everybody.
Speaker 9 (01:44:07):
And speedy.
Speaker 14 (01:44:08):
Do you know those trees and the house?
Speaker 2 (01:44:11):
Yes, sir, But did you understand that some what did
he say crazy neighbors?
Speaker 14 (01:44:15):
Yes, sir, do you know the trees of our house?
Speaker 2 (01:44:19):
Trees? And you didn't know what either? That's not what
he said? Go ahead, yes, yesterday I him the bottom
y you did? That was the job. I'm a dang.
Speaker 8 (01:44:33):
Really now you can see the house the road.
Speaker 2 (01:44:38):
Oh, you can see the house better from the road.
That's good.
Speaker 7 (01:44:42):
Did Larry just call you to tell you that he
trimmed the tree?
Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
Yeah, that's kind of where we set out and smoked
in black and miles by the way, hit the house.
I watched the car. Yeah, I trammed the bush. It's
pretty house. You want toybody see it? How about Babylon
b I laughter real hard at this headline. Somebody's put
on text Nation right now as a picture of Trump
(01:45:07):
and it says Hitler brings peace.
Speaker 7 (01:45:08):
To Israel's Yeah, that makes sense. He's not you know
now they call him Hitler. He's not a very good one.
Speaker 2 (01:45:13):
Now, now we continue Rick Burgess show. Unscreen phone calls
go ahead.
Speaker 18 (01:45:22):
What that was?
Speaker 7 (01:45:22):
Rick Burgess Show. Unscreen phone calls, Go ahead.
Speaker 14 (01:45:27):
Greg, Monday Morning, stop buying, Pick up your mama and
bring her to the show.
Speaker 6 (01:45:31):
Be Mondays with Mama?
Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
Can you imagine? Can you imagine? Try Mondays with Mama?
Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls, Go ahead, Hey.
Speaker 14 (01:45:43):
Good morning, Villas.
Speaker 6 (01:45:44):
Is Baker up?
Speaker 4 (01:45:44):
Can you tell you what? Hey?
Speaker 3 (01:45:47):
Hey?
Speaker 14 (01:45:47):
I am debating with myself and need some help.
Speaker 6 (01:45:50):
Okay.
Speaker 14 (01:45:52):
My wife has giving me the green light for Tuesday
night to go to my all time favorite Christian rock
band concert Nashville an hour away, but none of my
friends want to go. Hang out a lot of friends
up here because we're kind.
Speaker 2 (01:46:05):
Of new to the area, understood, And.
Speaker 4 (01:46:08):
I just I don't know if I should go or
not solo.
Speaker 7 (01:46:12):
I mean, how long a drive?
Speaker 2 (01:46:13):
Yeah, you said an hour?
Speaker 4 (01:46:16):
One hour?
Speaker 2 (01:46:17):
Oh no, that's not bad.
Speaker 7 (01:46:18):
I mean there's certain do do y'all have kids or
anything yet?
Speaker 2 (01:46:22):
Oh? They're grown, grown, Oh, empty nest already? Okay, So yeah,
so you're yeah, I mean, it's it's a nice time
to yourself. If this is a band that you're really into.
How come the wife doesn't want to go? Oh?
Speaker 18 (01:46:37):
No?
Speaker 14 (01:46:38):
The concerts aren't her things.
Speaker 2 (01:46:39):
Yeah, just yeah, I understand. As I've gotten oldered, I
don't enjoy them much either. It's a lot of hassle,
a lot of people loud. Wow, I'm becoming an old man.
But anyway, it's just if you really really want to
see this band and you can enjoy it. Uh, And
it would be wonderful to leave when you want to leave,
(01:47:00):
get there when you want to get there, you know,
sit down, eat whatever you want to from the concession stand.
Speaker 7 (01:47:07):
Sounds pretty good to me, you know, I mean, I mean,
so I think I would.
Speaker 4 (01:47:12):
Go, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:47:14):
Name of the band is Bleach by the way, all right,
I wouldn't go.
Speaker 14 (01:47:20):
Listen nineties and early two thousands when the Christian rock
I think was its best. They were awesome.
Speaker 2 (01:47:27):
Never heard of them. I've literally never heard of the Bleach. Yeah, Bleach.
Speaker 7 (01:47:31):
Never heard of them.
Speaker 2 (01:47:32):
But you know, if you get to do a trip,
you know it'd be coofy had maybe somebody to go
with you, one of your buddies, but going getting to
do things on your own life, Like I say, if
you could look at this, like, for instance, love doing
stuff with our families, but say a ball game, going
to one by yourself?
Speaker 7 (01:47:50):
Pretty pretty great.
Speaker 2 (01:47:52):
You ain't got that kind of stuff? So concert, go
and see Bleach. What about when you see somebody out
of concert by themselves though he seems will he come
off as sad to people? Either that or a terrorist?
Speaker 18 (01:48:04):
What?
Speaker 2 (01:48:04):
What's? What do you think is worse being by yourself
at a concert or by yourself at a movie concert? Concert?
Now by yourself in the movie's pretty sweet?
Speaker 9 (01:48:17):
I forgot about Bleach. By the way, there is a
Japanese female rock trio named Bleach. That's not the same thing.
Speaker 7 (01:48:26):
Never heard of Bleach, do y'all?
Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
Remember?
Speaker 9 (01:48:28):
It was a like a Christian music sampler called Seltzer Seltzer.
It was like a Christian rock music sampler c D,
and Bleach was on a couple of those. That's why.
Speaker 7 (01:48:43):
And for me, you know, just going a little bit.
I guess it's not really serious, but it's it's true.
Speaker 2 (01:48:50):
See, I didn't really have anything to do with contemporary
Christian music, I mean, just being completely transparent until I
became a follower cry in nineteen ninety six, and I
was at that time thirty one. I really when I
was younger and when this stuff's going on, I didn't
participate in any of it. I didn't listen to it,
(01:49:11):
didn't didn't know anything about it. So a lot of
this stuff, especially if you throw that era at me,
I don't know any because I didn't. I didn't listen
to any of it.
Speaker 9 (01:49:20):
So yeah, I got Ruby on Lauren Diggle right up,
right up. I love hearing that little girl singing amazing
thing with me. Daddy rides up, Daddy.
Speaker 2 (01:49:37):
Yeah, yeah, so you you flipped a switch on tax
Nation with Seltzer. A lot of people remember it flash
so yeah, but Bleach, I've never heard of somebody saying
the song super good feeling. Never heard it. We'll be back,
stay over.
Speaker 1 (01:49:56):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Tickets are on sale

Now more than ever, be a man, follow Jesus.
Speaker 2 (01:50:27):
Yes, those tickets. You're moving briskly, especially if you want
early access, especially start so you can find those at
Themanchurch dot com from text Nation. Okay, Rick, you brought
up Lauren Daego. Actually it was Adler brought at Laurende.
So would you all caps take a trip to Disney World.
(01:50:48):
I'm already out. I'm already out. I don't even have
to read the rest of the Disney World. Disney World
to the Epcot Park, specifically to attend their candlelight for
sessional choir and orchestra singing Christmas hymns while Lauren Daegell
narrates regional version the Biblical account of the Birth of Christ.
(01:51:11):
I have those plans right now. I say, good for you,
and that sounds like a wonderful experience. But you ask
what I go there, And the answer is no, I'm
not going to Disney World for any reason unless I
get to a point where I'm family pressured, which that
would involve my if God allows future grandchildren or something,
(01:51:31):
I'd have to be pressured by my wife or children
or grandchildren. But if I have a say in it,
I'm a no. I hope to never return if there's
any way possible. So and now again, I think that's lofty.
I think there's probably some scenario in the future and
(01:51:52):
it would have to be that. I would go for others.
But you ask me what I go current Rick wouldn't go.
You know, if it's my decision, that's you need, you wouldn't.
Even if I get around Disney World, I get, I
get hives. Yeah, I just I don't nothing. I don't
want anything to do it Disney Cruise. No, thank you,
(01:52:12):
keep that to you, even though I understand they put
together a pretty good cruise. But I've got something that
we'll be announcing pretty soon involving a cruise opportunity. But
let me tell you, if you're ever going cruising with
me again, we're going. We're going super nice. Okay, I
mean we're going. We're going luxury.
Speaker 7 (01:52:32):
The the thousands of people all all clamoring out there,
that's over.
Speaker 5 (01:52:36):
You're not gonna be in the Harry chests content. I
finally saw the documentary on the cruise. Uh yeah, I finally.
That's awful, terrible, bless her heart, bless them Lord.
Speaker 2 (01:52:48):
A couple of things out of out of sports. This
is interesting. So video ten and I'm on Rock eleven
and likely twelve here Adler, So ten the Eagles. People
are trying to like the Eagles are ruining football with
(01:53:08):
the tush push goodness. I don't know why we we
Why don't we making such a big deal out of this.
I don't let them get in short yard. Well apparently
they ran it four times in a row and people
are screaming, is this football? Well, yeah, I guess I
guess it is that if you ran any play four
times in a row, it was.
Speaker 5 (01:53:24):
I mean, it's it's become rugby, though, I guess is
what they're saying. You know what, but it really rugged
me but to football. Well, but I'm talking about the
way they're lined up here. I guess where it's changed
is that, you know, we got guys behind him that
that are just.
Speaker 6 (01:53:40):
Now we need to.
Speaker 2 (01:53:42):
Go back to the starting, forcing the old road. But
if you allow it, I'm gonna run.
Speaker 6 (01:53:47):
It, you know, and they do.
Speaker 2 (01:53:49):
It's it's a rus. They got beat but they did.
Speaker 9 (01:53:52):
Yeah, yeah, giants looking good by the way, jack won
two games, Jackson dark looking good. How do you see
his last name? Cam scatibo or gataboo scataboo. But yeah,
the whole toost push thing is It's interesting how many
people seem to hate it so much. It doesn't make
for incredibly exciting football. There's an argument there, Sure, there's
(01:54:14):
an argument. It's not it doesn't make for entertaining football,
but it's still football, I think.
Speaker 2 (01:54:18):
Guys, But but is this any less exciting than the
old standard quarterback sneak, that one that won the Ice
Bowl with Bart Starr. I mean, this type of play
has been around for a long time. We're just allowing
you to aid the runner, and that's the part we
gotta fi. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:54:35):
Yeah, three people are pushing Jalen behind him, so that's
that's the part change.
Speaker 6 (01:54:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:54:43):
Yeah, and at one time you could not aid the runner.
Speaker 7 (01:54:45):
Let's just go back to that.
Speaker 6 (01:54:46):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (01:54:47):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:54:48):
Next, Tampa Bay. You remember the big fella, the rookie
tackle Desmond watching Big Large out of Florida. They got
cut because he wouldn't lose the weight that he was
told to huge.
Speaker 6 (01:54:57):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:54:57):
Well apparently he was back at PRA this.
Speaker 6 (01:55:02):
Squad.
Speaker 2 (01:55:02):
He's on the practice squad and and now they say
he has finally lost okay, significant weight since the team
cut him for being overweight. So here this is he
looks like he's lost that way to big fellas not
a way to move around and get better. Here you go,
big man, that's it. Hey five six, that's what a
big contract will do. Yeah. Well, and of course you
(01:55:24):
know when you get cut, you take it serious. Get
that big man, you know what. It was one of
those things.
Speaker 7 (01:55:29):
He bluffed.
Speaker 2 (01:55:30):
He called the Buccaneers bluff and they said, no, we
will cut you. Yeah, and they did. Now you go
to the practice squad. You better start running now if
you want to ever get back on the roster. So
so apparently that was the way. Yeah, that was what
he needed.
Speaker 9 (01:55:44):
I'm not trying to be rude, but y'all, he doesn't
look right when he runs. It's like watching like a
dinosaur runners. Yeah, you're right, it's so amazing.
Speaker 7 (01:55:54):
He's not trying to be a sprinter.
Speaker 2 (01:55:57):
He's going to be playing down there in the interior
line if he's got good feet and he can move
and you know he's lost weight numbers.
Speaker 9 (01:56:05):
No, I'm not judging. I'm just saying it looks odd.
You know how like some very large mammals can't jump,
They can't physically jump.
Speaker 7 (01:56:12):
Are you comparing him to a large mammal?
Speaker 9 (01:56:14):
I am because he is a large man and so
it just looks it looks crazy. Good for him, I
hope he does well, and wish him success. Now guy
can't jump nel, guy can't jump. White man can't jump.
Speaker 6 (01:56:25):
Not white.
Speaker 9 (01:56:26):
Guys can't jump, you know.
Speaker 2 (01:56:27):
And something. When he was in college and he played
for the Gators, the fact that he was real huge
and he had number twenty one on it just made
him look fat. If it had been number ninety eight
for some reason, he would looked maybe ten pounds less weird.
Speaker 9 (01:56:42):
Ninety nine something.
Speaker 2 (01:56:43):
So he came in twenty one. It made him look
like he was fat as he was. Speedy came in
talking about video twelve, Oh Bless his Heart, the Phillies
lose Oh Wow.
Speaker 5 (01:56:52):
Last night on a wild throwaway, the picture had the
ball come back to him and instead of just going
to first for the third out, he decided to throw
it home because the bases were loaded. However, the catcher
even gets stands up and stands in front of home
pointing to first, like you just go to first, and
(01:57:15):
bless his heart, he threw it away and and the
Dodgers walk it off.
Speaker 2 (01:57:22):
I got it, Yes, Okay.
Speaker 9 (01:57:25):
Has breaks his Pat kirk Kring gotta fight it throws
to the point it throws it away, Dodgers gun.
Speaker 2 (01:57:38):
He didn't handle it cleanly, but he still had a
lot more time to go to first. Yeah, he goes
to first, and no, not so much. The catcher is
clearly pointing throw it to first. Yeah, just throw it
to first, buddy. You know the bases are and it
was a wild throat. Yeah, and Greg and I were
(01:58:02):
talking about that.
Speaker 5 (01:58:03):
You know, you got these pictures that are throwing a
hundred percent in their their arm is just so juiced
from those throws. And then when you have to be
when you have to back off of it and be precise,
sometimes you just have it like a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (01:58:16):
A dead arm. Been a much more natural trophy.
Speaker 9 (01:58:18):
And when it was turned around and fired at the first.
Speaker 2 (01:58:23):
In the season is over, yeah they oh yeah, yeah,
it's over. Tom of the hour.
Speaker 1 (01:58:29):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. You better listen up.
Speaker 2 (01:58:46):
You know, like we say, you gotta.
Speaker 1 (01:58:53):
Find broadcasting from the world The Rich Birches Show.
Speaker 2 (01:59:03):
It's a brand new hour. Thank you for being with
us America as we work our way to another hour
on another day and wrapping up for a lot of
you another week. Uh so, thank you for being with us.
Still to come. The box seats are filling up there'll
be a bird of small battle. Somebody gets a chance
(01:59:24):
to go to the wheel of bundles, bits and bucks.
Can they take home some prizes today? We shall see.
I'll tell you one thing. A lot of them had
to go to the bathroom. I've never seen so many
people make the bathroom trip speedy, a little like Moses
taking the children of Israel across the wilderness.
Speaker 5 (01:59:46):
And that, you know, everybody, it's it's awesome to everything
kind of comes to life for them. They say, is
this where Sweet two hundred happens? Sure that I'm like,
I can't believe we haven't encountered anyone. If written was
with us, it'd be like interviewing everyone that that came by.
But they got to see that and a couple other things,
so that was good.
Speaker 2 (02:00:03):
You know, it's one of those things I think that
you know, we all want to go for a well
done Yeah, I just I just think it's possible that
on that day I also hear from the throne, Oh goodness,
nice work on Sweet two hundred birth appreciate it.
Speaker 7 (02:00:16):
And that's what made a difference.
Speaker 2 (02:00:17):
Son, So have lots of well, I mean, you know
what next song if everybody's gonna get upset with me
for helping veterans find veterans affairs at Sweet two hundred
and just get on me. Okay, okay, some of the
ones I've seen you help aren't veterans.
Speaker 9 (02:00:33):
There.
Speaker 2 (02:00:33):
There's Sweet two hundreds got a lot of things in it.
It really does. I mean, I'm not sure. And that's
what throws everybody there. It says Sweet two hundred, and
there is a list. I've never seen the end of it. No,
I mean, I just keeps going. Just if you go
to that little panel in the lobby, it just says
Sweet two.
Speaker 7 (02:00:49):
Hundred all over.
Speaker 2 (02:00:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:00:51):
Now it's got to be a gigantic room.
Speaker 2 (02:00:52):
Yeah, right now it does. And I have to be
careful here because it feels insensitive, and you know that's
not my nature, No, but it it feels a little bit.
I think people I am a little bit confused. How
they think they're entering on the second floor. Yea Sweet
two hundred. It's got a two on it.
Speaker 7 (02:01:12):
Probably not down here, I think the I.
Speaker 9 (02:01:15):
Think they just I don't think they know the rule,
Like you know, like one oh one is going to
be on.
Speaker 2 (02:01:19):
The first floor to a pretty standard rule, it's going.
Speaker 9 (02:01:22):
To be on the second I don't think they know
that rule. Really, it is a very standard rule.
Speaker 7 (02:01:25):
But are you shocked, though I am a little bit
that they don't know it.
Speaker 9 (02:01:29):
I'm not shocked by anything anymore.
Speaker 5 (02:01:30):
Okay, if it was a one office complex, and maybe yeah,
if it didn't have upstairs, well, I will say this,
there's a building that I have to take my mom
to a lot and uh, when you walk.
Speaker 2 (02:01:42):
When you walk in, you're actually on the second floor. Right,
it has a basement. And then one of the course
swin doesn't I know. I'm just saying they are some
that are no parking deck underneath us. Maybe they don't
know that. You think they think there's a basement. Well,
I will tell you. It's caused tremendous confusion. And what
are you saying about the paper? And I think the
community has said out loud, thank goodness for Rick Burgess. Yeah,
(02:02:03):
I tell you, I don't know what would have you
wudn't believe how many people have to sweet two hundred.
Speaker 7 (02:02:06):
It's alarming. And then a lot of them don't need
your help.
Speaker 2 (02:02:10):
And you spook them. That's all right? Yeah, And I've
also had to learn that not everybody's a veteran. No,
that's True's other things.
Speaker 7 (02:02:17):
People get, people get injured by the things that warwick.
Speaker 2 (02:02:20):
Yeah, and you're thanking them for their service, and not
everybody will chair serve the country. Okay, that's a good point.
Speaker 6 (02:02:26):
Right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:27):
Twice I thank somebody for their service and they didn't
serve then you well, if you did well, but if
you but you're serving us now, you wouldn't.
Speaker 9 (02:02:36):
God bless the USA though, right, that's right.
Speaker 2 (02:02:38):
And roll tide. So so when all else fails in
our state, just say roll tide. It covers so many things.
It covers so many things. So here they are, Uh,
they're they're from all over there, they're from all over Uh.
They've apparently driven a good distance based on how many
had to go to the bathroom. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah,
and they're hydrating really well. Yeah uh so, and they
(02:03:01):
probably you got to use the bathroom. Think about that.
How about that part of your life? Yeah, a part
of your life. Deal with it. You tried to start
negotiating with your body. Just give me a little longer. Well,
we've talked about these these little mark these little markers,
these little markers of getting older. And one of them,
(02:03:21):
I know everybody has been telling me, you're exactly right
at sixty one, and I try to mention that as
much as I can, because I can't believe that's my age.
I can't. I had somebody when I went on my
birthday dinner and I asked the waiter to I'm now
becoming that person that that is actually I think in
that commercial when you were coming like your parents. When
(02:03:43):
I tell you all this, you're gonna be You're gonna
be so upset with me. I asked the waiter to
guess how old I was. No, you didn't I become
that guy. Now you think I am crazy? Uncomfortable. He's
I'd rather not guess.
Speaker 9 (02:03:59):
Again, and I was like a tip, so I'm gonna
say forty.
Speaker 2 (02:04:02):
Yeah, yeah, because he said, you know, she said, he
said anything anybody anything especially going on? She said, what's
his birthday? And he looked at me and all of
a sudden, with that it was uncontrollable, which must be
part of the age old you think I am. Now
we're eating four thirty, so that's gonna let you know what.
Speaker 4 (02:04:18):
I let you know.
Speaker 2 (02:04:20):
You literally reserved a table at four thirty. I'm going
plus sixty. Yeah, but anyway do you think I am?
And by the way, how much you think?
Speaker 6 (02:04:29):
A way?
Speaker 8 (02:04:29):
Right?
Speaker 2 (02:04:30):
When people ask me how much you know? How much? Baby?
Speaker 6 (02:04:32):
There?
Speaker 2 (02:04:32):
No, don't care?
Speaker 6 (02:04:34):
Do you ever?
Speaker 2 (02:04:34):
Do you ever? And I know you tell me, don't
make me guess, don't make me why you remember me?
Speaker 7 (02:04:39):
Have you ever had the the old codger who wants
to thrill everybody?
Speaker 2 (02:04:43):
Well, how old he is?
Speaker 7 (02:04:44):
I find myself sometimes guessing, Hi.
Speaker 2 (02:04:47):
Old you think I am?
Speaker 4 (02:04:48):
Four?
Speaker 2 (02:04:50):
Well? Yeah, exactly, I knew it now. I've seen some
pretty amazing old men that were like in their nineties,
and I'm like, if it was wow, I could just
make that deal. We used to see one at the gym. God,
this guy he went in the nineties, but he was
on up seventies and he was the strongest guy in
the whole place. You had one arm pull ups and
(02:05:10):
not even shake. Yeah, look at you that he had
an old man suit on. But he was really a
young person in there. I think somebody was messing with it. Yeah.
I'm even getting now from trainer Sean things like all right,
good job, you're moving good today.
Speaker 7 (02:05:27):
Wait a minute, wha I don't know? Not always moving
good today?
Speaker 2 (02:05:30):
Good for good for you? Uh.
Speaker 7 (02:05:34):
Everything. The standard becomes so much lower now.
Speaker 2 (02:05:36):
But but have y'all speaking of did y'all all how
many of you just came from the bathroom? Half of them?
The whole class? Guys? Guys?
Speaker 7 (02:05:46):
Was the guy still in there making all the noise?
Speaker 6 (02:05:48):
Rick?
Speaker 2 (02:05:49):
No, there's it's what are you talking about? You know,
whether they're doing a construction or in the bathroom noise?
You're talking. There's this guy and I've encountered him. Now
this is my third time to day. I got one
that don't talk to you, make noise?
Speaker 7 (02:06:01):
Yeah, another another guy I've dealt with him.
Speaker 2 (02:06:03):
Yeah, how you doing?
Speaker 6 (02:06:04):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:06:04):
I just I panicked. I just get out of here.
Speaker 7 (02:06:08):
And I don't know what to do now because they
didn't make the playoffs?
Speaker 4 (02:06:11):
I panic?
Speaker 2 (02:06:11):
Can always ask him how about embraves? But anyway, so
it's this, It's not it's not the normal noise. There's
some there's some upper noise. He'll he'll, he'll sit there
and he'll go and it's all ground, some sort of
(02:06:33):
throat chest thing. And I find myself going, man, is
he all right? Lossings over there?
Speaker 10 (02:06:42):
You do?
Speaker 2 (02:06:42):
You lost? I was in there the other day and
somebody was in there having to see and then they
were also blowing their nose loud. Maybe him, he's got
some upper respiratory something. I'm just a slee backing there.
I mean it's it's either flip Flops has got a
(02:07:04):
different style show, or he got fired because there's no
way he was doing his job because he was always
in flip flops.
Speaker 6 (02:07:09):
Got fired.
Speaker 2 (02:07:10):
We lost the bathroom, you know, pastor, Oh yeah, lost one.
We knew that was going on. We lost flip Flop
and he would stall, won you.
Speaker 3 (02:07:19):
He didn't.
Speaker 2 (02:07:20):
He didn't go away. He stood right there by the urinal. Yeah,
to a seat with his flip flops on. Every day
just lay laying. He'd lay his pants on the floor too.
It's crazy, d like his laundry. Red shoes got checking
out of red shoes got fired too.
Speaker 7 (02:07:35):
I hain't seen him when you you cost to see
their job, What don't mean he was him being.
Speaker 2 (02:07:39):
In there all the time.
Speaker 1 (02:07:41):

Speaker 7 (02:08:55):
Everybody great. Good to see Stu here today.
Speaker 2 (02:08:57):
Yeah, Yeah, that's super Jim. He looks just like Greg Stewart.
Y'all could be brothers. Yeah, he played nose guard at Troy,
just like you. Probably you can throw some folks around
in here. Do you play nose guard defensive en?
Speaker 7 (02:09:13):
Yeah, I'd like to put you down on that one slot.
Put you down there in that two technique.
Speaker 6 (02:09:17):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:09:18):
So all right, so Speedy seems to be bothered by
something and uh, well.
Speaker 5 (02:09:25):
It's just it's the ultimate you can't have nothing. We've
raised your hand if you've ever cracked your phone screen
and every hand in here except for Greg, I.
Speaker 2 (02:09:34):
Really haven't believe it. Speedy. No, you shouldn't have said that.
Speaker 5 (02:09:40):
By the way, I know, I'm doing some some work
yesterday in the garage because I'm handy light rick, and.
Speaker 2 (02:09:48):
You know, it required some bolts and some screws and
uh and uh, a couple of tools and I dropped.
Speaker 5 (02:09:55):
I dropped one of them and it hit my phone perfectly,
the screw or the note or yeah, and I don't know.
I don't know because the size of it should not
have calls this, but I guess it was the perfect
angle everything. And when it hit, it's like it was
happening in slow motion. And when it hit, it just
totally shattered my phone. Man, I'm talking about put a
(02:10:18):
white line through it and everything. And I'm going, oh, no,
you think you can get your time big enough on there. Yes,
it's the new update, which obviously you don't have. It
goes it starts like that, and then I'll do that.
Speaker 2 (02:10:32):
It's like telephones and get red. It is Gregg's want
me to change his screen?
Speaker 7 (02:10:38):
You sure you don't have your dad's phone?
Speaker 5 (02:10:39):
And so I so I quickly pulled up the Apple
Support app and I'm like, okay, let me just see
what we got going on here, Apple Store. Okay, schedule
oh crack screen, okay, schedule three fifteen.
Speaker 2 (02:10:52):
Oh that's great.
Speaker 5 (02:10:53):
So I clicked yeah, I'll take it. So I go
into the Apple You can't believe it. Here I go,
and then they're like, hey, I got bad news, my friend.
That's a total phone replacement right there, total phone replacement.
And they said, so I got good news and bad news.
Because you have Apple Care, it's only gonna cost you
twenty nine dollars. Of course that's not free, but it's
(02:11:14):
not a phone, that's what I'm saying, right. And the
bad news is it's we don't have any in stock,
and it'll be probably five, five to seven days before
we have one. So now I have to live with this,
And you don't think that's driving me crazy?
Speaker 2 (02:11:27):
So you guys just left it. Do you realize how
much Speedy has to use this phone for scheduling and
things like that? Now every time you look down. I
don't even know how to describe it.
Speaker 5 (02:11:36):
It's like a I don't know, it's like a meteor
hit or some comic can even see.
Speaker 2 (02:11:43):
I don't know. It's hard.
Speaker 9 (02:11:45):
Plus we just spoke yesterday. I know about how we're
digging our new phones because I'm upgraded. I had the eleven.
Speaker 2 (02:11:54):
The eleven, I'm like, all right, what you did?
Speaker 9 (02:11:57):
My phone was actually I can't believe it was still
working that we had ash the backside of it. But yeah,
I upgraded to and I went with orange. I'm usually
a black on black guy, but I went with orange
because my kids, I'll throw my phone down. I'll throw
my phone down and then go mess with my kids,
and then it's it's black, so I can't find it.
So I went for orange. Kind of gay whatever.
Speaker 7 (02:12:19):
You wanted to get away from black.
Speaker 6 (02:12:23):
You said that.
Speaker 9 (02:12:26):
There's the colors. Guys like orange on blue to y'all.
But stee, how long have you had that phone?
Speaker 4 (02:12:35):
A week?
Speaker 2 (02:12:36):
Maybe it's a little less than a month. You're acting
like that that if that was your phone, you would
keep it cracked five years. No, no, no, I've had
I know it's bothering him no, no, this is next
level crack.
Speaker 5 (02:12:51):
I've had the spiderweb kind of and I've I've actually
taught me a lesson before and I've kept it. This
one here is a white line and it's I can't
believe it even works. Even the guy that was helping
me said, I can't believe this is things working. But
the goodness you have one and all you dropped on
it was a screw. Yeah, it was like it was
a bolt. It was a big thick bolt and it
hit it just perfect and right there is where it hit.
Speaker 2 (02:13:14):
Yeah, I always keep mind in the pocket when I'm working.
Speaker 5 (02:13:16):
Yeah, yeah, that to but like we all have time
to get back out and go run and do that,
you know. And so I thought I was going to
be there for for a while and was there for
about fifteen minutes because he's like, hey, be glad.
Speaker 2 (02:13:33):
You got one because we don't have any in stock.
It's going to be a little bit of souse. You can.
Speaker 7 (02:13:37):
You can't never get the time back what it took
to do the appointment.
Speaker 2 (02:13:40):
Anybody on the phone.
Speaker 7 (02:13:41):
You walk in there, that place too, and I don't
like going in there.
Speaker 2 (02:13:45):
It's a little intimidating. It just feels weird.
Speaker 7 (02:13:47):
I feel like I'm walking into an episode of Sprockets.
Speaker 5 (02:13:51):
I witnessed a scene yesterday, bless her heart, the elderly lady.
She was just need to get some stuff done and
she couldn't.
Speaker 2 (02:13:57):
Remember her Apple passwords. But I don't know, man, you
don't know. I have no idea, no idea. That's a
good ga. You know that that comes up in life
some big moments. That's a problem. But I don't maybe
not made it this week. Why don't you get one,
Why don't you go reset it? Just do a new one? Whatever, okay, just.
Speaker 6 (02:14:22):
Just whatever.
Speaker 2 (02:14:23):
I hadn't needed it. I don't know this one, right.
He never just warned you though this is true, and
I know you know it. You're not going anything about
it until it happens. You're right, you don't need it
a lot, But when you need to, I mean when
a big when you need it, it is so important.
Speaker 5 (02:14:39):
There's a you could forgot your password and then that
you can reset it if you got that little password
app on there that hold your passwords for I don't
even know what you're talking about.
Speaker 7 (02:14:48):
Show it that you showed it to me. It was
a game changer.
Speaker 2 (02:14:50):
So you want me to waste my time now, because
that's what it would be doing. I'm not I'm not
into that. You know. You don't know how many times
that's come through for me when you show that to me.
Speaker 7 (02:14:57):
Yes, it's huge. You know there's that could help you
and simplify.
Speaker 2 (02:15:03):
Yeah, told me that when I got the phone. They
really should have when I got the phone, So you
don't remember that. So we have that a little thing
right there with little keys on it.
Speaker 9 (02:15:11):
No, no, it sounds like the genius part.
Speaker 5 (02:15:18):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry we we got into this now.
Greg's staring at the phone like it's it's the sun.
Speaker 7 (02:15:23):
Yeah, I got setting. Every time I'm in the Apple store.
Speaker 2 (02:15:27):
You know what I say. Every time I'm in the
Apple Store, I think to myself, So this is how
Adler feels when we talk about sports exactly. Yeah, but
the weirdos.
Speaker 1 (02:15:36):
But she was I don't remember my password.
Speaker 5 (02:15:38):
I wish, I wish I could have been there, and
he was like, well, ma'am, I I mean we're gonna
have to have that. Is there anybody you can call?
Speaker 2 (02:15:44):
Do you remember well? Password?
Speaker 3 (02:15:47):
You know?
Speaker 2 (02:15:47):
And she started thinking and.
Speaker 7 (02:15:48):
Holding the line up.
Speaker 2 (02:15:49):
I'm sorry, y'all. Oh no, I wish I could a
little hard. If I could have been there, I could
have told you we're sweet. Two hundred was I got
a clock on it? Yeah, you know we know about that.
He did the c I said, well, if you can
go figure it out, come back tomorrow at ten A.
M Oh no, figure it out. I wanted to walk
into you.
Speaker 7 (02:16:09):
Were sweating profusely.
Speaker 2 (02:16:11):
I was in a battle. Can get out of the way?
Can I help you?
Speaker 4 (02:16:14):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:16:14):
I want to ask you something. What bothered you both?
You most you're your desire to help somebody and second
hand embarrassment or the fact you're like, well that's one
one person out the one. I was fighting myself. I
was in a battle. If I'm just being honest, I'll
come back tomorrow. You talking about yesterday when I I'll
tell you'all story when I come back when I saw
somebody get two blocked. And you know, when you when
you're trying to make a decision at different cashiers and
(02:16:37):
you think you've made the right decision, you're certain, I mean,
this person's mean, there's only like two items left, so
you're like, this is the place to be, and then
you realize you didn't know what was coming next, and
you realize you're in the wrong line and you begin
to pan it to try to go to a new line,
and you look behind you. Now people got in behind you, child,
and when you know you don't think about it. I
(02:16:57):
will tell you what two blocked the line? Well, okay,
I'll tell you what come all right? Yeah, And it's
one of those things that really now you try to
do this now, especially if the person that's running the
cashier has been the bubblet school. Watch out, We'll be
right back.
Speaker 1 (02:17:18):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Enjoy the best moments
of the three decades of the Rick and Bubba Show
by listening to Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits and Radio
(02:17:38):
Gold the podcast, available wherever you get podcasts.
Speaker 2 (02:17:42):
It'll be out this weekend another episode of Rick and
Bubba's Greatest Hits in Radio Gold, along with another episode
of Strange Encounters. So yeah, so we all know this.
I had to pop into the grocery store pick up
and nod or two and I really was I qualified
(02:18:04):
for all the options. And at this time I looked
in the the ten items are less. Actually wasn't the
best line at somebody seemed like they had too many
by the way, I been sage, you count them like
there was more than ten. But anyway, but that's fine.
And so I saw that and I said, nope. And
then I look over and I see, hey, here's a
(02:18:24):
person that is down to just two items that are
finishing up their groceries. They're about to pay. I'm right
here and I'm ready to go. Well, they made the
mistake of paying with cash. The cashier could not have
been more confused. Yeah, it was like what the cashier
(02:18:47):
just froze. And I was It's just it's just money.
It's money. Don't be afraid of it. It's just take it.
It's uh, it works, it's currency. Are you thinking that
or saying that, I'm thinking it?
Speaker 6 (02:18:57):
Okay? Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:18:58):
And then like it's like she had not had a
legal tender in so long. And then her first move
was to see if it was counterfeit. I kid you not,
I naven that mark This is not even part of
the bit. And it's like you could tell she hadn't
gotten the marker in a while. She didn' even know
where it was. Where's the where's the And then and
then I realized the odds of that piece of currency
(02:19:20):
being the exact price really low, and all of a
sudden she punches out the change drawer. That used to
be very common, Remember, everybody was very good. And she
she just stared at like she expected to change to
start coming out on its own. And now, of course, boy,
I am like a bull that's been loaded into a trailer.
Speaker 7 (02:19:40):
I'm I'm shifting, I'm moving.
Speaker 2 (02:19:42):
I'm like, oh my god. And then I start looking
around to try to get out, and somebody's now come
in behind me, and I'm trapped, and I'm looking over
and I see the over the Earth Express, the one
I was worried about. They're finished and now now went
and this is all probably happened eight seconds. This This
went no though. And then I look and somebody starts
(02:20:03):
coming over to help. Okay, okay, let's look at see
how much it is, and and and then and and
and she starts to looking. And then the problem she
got into pennies and and and and like I was like,
what what can this price possibly be? There was she
was pulling out change and and h and a couple
of ones and and the woman just keeps standing there,
(02:20:25):
and I think this may we may never, we may
never get this done. And and so, and there's only
one guy in front of me now with flowers. I
thought he wasn't any big deal. And so it literally,
I mean, the change just kept going to this woman.
It's like she would get a few ones, then she
got some silver, and then then all of a sudden,
(02:20:46):
some pennies started coming out, and and and then then
the woean was reading then then that and I'm just like,
I mean, I came so close to screaming, I have
a card, you know, to do this. I don't know
how much this is, but just put it on mine.
And then so I think, well, this is over. I'm done.
Flower guy is gonna ease on through. He pulls out cash.
(02:21:07):
Two cash people in a row.
Speaker 7 (02:21:08):
You don't cash only line, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:21:10):
And we had a ball game, have a cash on
but I didn't know that. And so so flower guy
he's in the buying at one time, he just wants
to leave. And I'm like, if you're getting flowers, you
don't expect there long no and uh and so and
I thought to him, I thought to myself, I may
I hate to be this way. It might be something positive.
I thought this guy's in trouble. I don't know what
he's done. This, this is something random Thursday. I mean,
(02:21:34):
he's sucking up. How can he be in this situation?
Speaker 7 (02:21:37):
You know what is he an anniversary? May be an anniversary.
Speaker 9 (02:21:42):
He did.
Speaker 2 (02:21:42):
He had that look too that he probably be in trouble.
No offense to you, sir, but I mean he had
that look like this guy's a round her. This guy, Yeah,
I thought to myself, he acted up.
Speaker 5 (02:21:54):
Yeah, he probably went home and said, Man, I was
in front of line with Rick yesterday right and talking
to him about it.
Speaker 2 (02:21:58):
I don't know what he did.
Speaker 7 (02:21:59):
I don't I don't know that the roses from a
grocery store going to do it.
Speaker 2 (02:22:02):
But I wish him well. But I'm a little happy.
But you should have seen the look of elation on
this cashier's face when I moved my stuff in and
I just went and I held up a A A
American Express.
Speaker 7 (02:22:16):
She looked at that and just thought, now that I
know how to do.
Speaker 2 (02:22:19):
And I just said insert and then and she was
so glad to see me. Hey, these people can't make
change anymore. They can't they cannot make change. I mean,
watch out if you're gonna use cash. Have y'all picked
up on that? People kind of get mad about cash now,
I know. At one time, I remember when people with
cash it was king. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:22:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (02:22:39):
How often are y'all buying flowers for your wives?
Speaker 10 (02:22:42):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (02:22:44):
Hardly? Ever?
Speaker 7 (02:22:46):
Yeah, she didn't really care for Yeah, she'd rather have
my love.
Speaker 2 (02:22:49):
She says that, She says, she says that, I don't
know if this means anything, but the last time I
came home, Sherry met me as I was coming in
and looked at me and said, you don't bring me
a fly anymore.
Speaker 10 (02:23:01):
No.
Speaker 2 (02:23:02):
I used to be pretty big on flowers, and then
Sherry is so into getting her own flowers out of
the backyard. At the farmers market, there's flowers planted. There's
flowers everywhere. Instead of flowers, Terry just asked me to
handle the brown box. It was just delivered at the
front door. Flowers coming lot every day I'm getting every day.
(02:23:26):
We're hung in the drought, so I can't burn nothing.
The boxes are just stacking up in the grow because
you know, I like a good box fire. Sure, who
doesn't we all know that I love it where I
live came. Don't nobody care? You just like to watch it.
It's too dry and I don't want to burn the woods.
Day we're in a non almost burn. You remember my
son in law riding like to burn their righting burd
(02:23:54):
got away from it, but he got it back. But
it got away from let you this last year of
this time, was.
Speaker 22 (02:24:03):
It on the in the yard?
Speaker 2 (02:24:04):
No, right down? Yeah? At the age bout they got
there the like I got away from. Yeah, I got
away from how you get it and of all people,
because he's just quiet. Don't bother nobody.
Speaker 7 (02:24:15):
Unless you don't like your neighborhood being burden.
Speaker 2 (02:24:17):
I don't live far from channel with Y'll have the door?
Do I need to call my dad? It was like
I think I got it standing in the spot. Yeah,
he told me the story about it because I guess
not long after day it was somebody's birthday or so. Yeah, yeah,
he told us about it. I was laughing because he's
so unassuming. That is a bad feeling when it's out
of control. Oh you got a bucket in your hand
(02:24:37):
or something really bad feeling.
Speaker 12 (02:24:39):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:24:40):
The r S has revealed speaking of money, twenty twenty
six tax adjustments with changes from the Big Beautiful Bill.
But but we can't get Is that good or bad
or what? Yeah? I walk that one out. I ain't
happen to high bracket speed. He's in, you're gonna talk
to me. Well, seemed to pass over me. Here's some
things that it's said as the top tax rate will
(02:25:01):
remain at thirty seven percent. Wow, that's way too much.
How can we tax people at that level? And single
taxpayers with if you have a joint account and all
that you maybe it's thirty five percent for income this
stop thirty two to twelve. Oh, here's a change that's
(02:25:23):
ready too Well, none of it applies to this. There's
no win here. They were just saying, it looks like
we're still getting taxed like we all. Nobody's getting a break.
Standard deduction claimed by the majority of taxpayers who don't
itemize their returns will rise to sixteen one hundred dollars
for single taxpayers, okay, and thirty two thousand, two hundred
(02:25:44):
for married couples if you file jointly, that's the standard. Okay,
that's the marker.
Speaker 7 (02:25:48):
Okay, So okay, they go up a little bit.
Speaker 2 (02:25:52):
So but but no, no, not as big jos I
am after this, Well, there's not as big a changes
or I expected bigger changes.
Speaker 7 (02:26:00):
This doesn't feel beautiful.
Speaker 2 (02:26:01):
To me, Rick, because you've read half a paragraph. Well,
the only thing I see that really is a biggie
is the standard deduction is going to uh to rise.
So that's I mean, that's good, But isn't It wasn't
as big a hit as I was hoping. Financial minute
with Rick, there it is. How about Alan Greenspan, watch out,
(02:26:23):
it's weigte too much.
Speaker 7 (02:26:24):
How about when you got we're still it.
Speaker 2 (02:26:25):
We're still at thirty seven percent, thirty five percent, thirty
two percent, twenty four percent, twenty two percent. I thought
Trump's going to do away with it, and that's that's all.
Speaker 9 (02:26:34):
That's just federal. That's not even state.
Speaker 2 (02:26:36):
We're talking.
Speaker 9 (02:26:37):
No, so add that on top of oh.
Speaker 2 (02:26:39):
Well no really, at the end of the day, if
you add up every all the taxes we pay federal, state, local,
and daily, it's it's well, it'll hurt you feelings.
Speaker 9 (02:26:50):
Don't forget every time you buy something, you're paying taxes
on the top.
Speaker 2 (02:26:53):
For the tag for your car tag. Oh don't get
me starting ound. I'm a w So October is my month. God,
that's fun that we dealt with that bag in February
christ taxes.
Speaker 7 (02:27:03):
I know we're coming right off Christmas when we had
to pay.
Speaker 4 (02:27:05):
Are you like you like? How you like that?
Speaker 2 (02:27:07):
You names start with a B? You like in my apples?
W now you like your apples. We'll come back when
we do unscreened phone calls or next. Yeah, Dave Ramsey
just turned the show off. Dave Ramsey turned off when
I said American express Guard. I've hid that from Ramsey
for years. We'll be back. Unscreened phone calls coming up next,
(02:27:31):
hanging there, we'll hear from you America. Stack them up,
we'll shack next.
Speaker 1 (02:27:37):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. I'm no the most
dangerous ten minutes in real unscreened phone calls. Get in
now by dialing one eight eight eight six, Big Fox.
Speaker 2 (02:27:59):
Thank you America. Thank and also thanks to a lot
of you there on text Nation now nicknaming me a
Rick Greenspan.
Speaker 4 (02:28:06):
Thank you.
Speaker 11 (02:28:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:28:08):
I got into that story that Speedy laid out, and
I realized, like always, our text code is so complicated
nobody can understand it, and that's by design, so we
won't be as angry as we would be if we could.
It would be just simple Uh, here we go. Let's
talk to the people coming in rapid fire. The number
eight eight eight, the number six big vox. As you
(02:28:31):
just heard. This is the most dangerous ten minutes in
radio because there's nothing between the audience and us and
trust us. That's scary, and we have to react and
respond in real time. If the phone is ringing, you're
standing by ready to go. If it is not, you
did not connect, Try it again. Rick Burgers Show, unscreen
(02:28:52):
phone calls, Go ahead.
Speaker 4 (02:28:54):
I agree. Hey, why you gotta be a turd a.
Speaker 2 (02:29:02):
Dad wreck? Did Dad call from heaven? Yeah? I think you.
Rick Burders Show, on screen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 14 (02:29:11):
Good morning.
Speaker 6 (02:29:12):
How are you doing today?
Speaker 2 (02:29:12):
Good? Hope you're well.
Speaker 8 (02:29:14):
Yeah, I want to talk about my iPhone. I got
back from the store and I had to get some
groceries out, so and I got in the house, I
couldn't find my telephone and I said, oh lord, I've
left it at the store. So getting the car and
I'm going about fifty five sixty down the road and
my phone. I heard some loud noise and something rolling
(02:29:37):
off my car. Oh my phone was rolling off the
car and I saw.
Speaker 4 (02:29:44):
It hit the road.
Speaker 8 (02:29:45):
Oh yeah, I had to go back. I had to
go about a half a mile down the road, and
before I got back to it, I found it. I
looked at it said crash detected. Yeah, oh yeah, I
hit the cancel button. But I look up, I see
a two fire department.
Speaker 6 (02:30:09):
Yeah, it.
Speaker 8 (02:30:12):
Had told there you go.
Speaker 2 (02:30:15):
Yeah, it wouldn't. Hey, I mean you can't even have
an iPhone on top of your car. I mean that's crazy.
Do you know what he said?
Speaker 6 (02:30:23):
Would?
Speaker 2 (02:30:24):
Yeah? Exactly that thing? Detective, you have a crack that thing? Greg,
Could you explain for text Nation out of Georgia? Can
you explain for his wife what two blocked means? Two blocked? Well,
it's an old power company term. If you you saguire,
you use what they call a set of blocks. If
you didn't catch it far enough and you got to
the end of your chain and it still wasn't at
(02:30:46):
the level it needs to be, you had to get
another set of blocks, put them on there, and you
were two blocked. You couldn't go, you couldn't back off,
you couldn't pick up. So that if if somebody gets
hung in the stair, they go look at him, it's
two blocked. You know, if any time, any time somebody
can they're two blocked. Yeah, get hung up from the
power company. So I would I got some other sayings
from them.
Speaker 4 (02:31:08):
We know you.
Speaker 2 (02:31:08):
I would like to we know you too. Rick Burgess Show,
unscreen phone.
Speaker 14 (02:31:12):
Calls, Go ahead, this your boy, NFL City. I got
a dad joke for you ready, Oh boy, Hey, I
got through this time. How about that my phone didn't
break up? How about that?
Speaker 2 (02:31:25):
Go for it, Tom, go what should joke? We lost
him again? He's bragging, probably still talk.
Speaker 4 (02:31:37):
You do not know you?
Speaker 2 (02:31:38):
Just love you? Tell you what notion say to me?
They didn't say nothing. It just waves. There was a dad.
Speaker 7 (02:31:46):
Rick Berger's show, unscreen phone calls, Go for Tom.
Speaker 11 (02:31:50):
He good morning guys. Rick. My wife would drive you
nuts because she's one of those coupon ladies.
Speaker 2 (02:31:59):
Yeah, nothing worth I was.
Speaker 11 (02:32:02):
I was asking her one day. I said, maybe you
come from a very wealthy family. I'm like, it really
surprises me that you do all this slipping coupons and
trying to do the sale over here and over there
and all the rest of it. But that really kind
of surprises me. And she says, well, do you think
they became wealthy by spending money that they didn't have to.
Speaker 9 (02:32:21):
Oh yeah, And I was like.
Speaker 2 (02:32:23):
Uh yeah, but these cupones the hassle and you what
do you say? Four cents? Mom got in then other
day she likes some Walgreen they'll give you four dollars off. Okay,
all right, I hope she breaks them out today when
y'all go, it's surprising you're not a cupon person.
Speaker 7 (02:32:42):
It really hassle.
Speaker 2 (02:32:44):
That's what I do.
Speaker 5 (02:32:45):
Yeah, But a lot of it's the challenge and the
adrenaline of of knowing what you're saving.
Speaker 7 (02:32:50):
There's nothing I've seen that it was a documentary on
that people did.
Speaker 2 (02:32:54):
Yeah, I got behind this. So go one day on
the line and you had a gift card and it
wouldn't cover it. So then he had to pull his
check book out throughout the difference and they I mean,
you think he looked at it and he had probably
ain't rode a check And god knows when I didn't
think I was ever going to get out of there.
When I see someone that's kind of like Rick almost
that I got it.
Speaker 6 (02:33:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:33:14):
When I see somebody, especially if they got a little
age on them, and I see those coupons coming out,
I just wish I could transport to another world. Here's
the best part. It happens every time they'll turn the
coupon into the casher go well, no that's not for
this item. That's for the other sixteen ounces. No, no,
that's not And then we got to go all that. Yeah,
you're all right, I'm sorry this coupon. You know that
(02:33:36):
this got the expression date. You've kept us too long,
you didn't use it. We're not honoring this some more.
What yeah, you know, And then here we go, well
I don't want it. Then then they got to take
it out. Oh, yes, here we go.
Speaker 7 (02:33:49):
Rick Burgers show unscreen phone calls.
Speaker 14 (02:33:51):
Go ahead, Hey for that listener, Pete who needs to
catch up on the show.
Speaker 4 (02:33:57):
I would say, go back on YouTube and Marcia old
Rick and Bubba clips.
Speaker 6 (02:34:01):
Yeah yeah, helped me when I first started.
Speaker 2 (02:34:03):
Yeah, yeah, that's sure. You can do that too. And
there's a lot of them stood there. We're learning that
over time that YouTube removed removes them themselves. They don't
stay there forever and ever, but a lot of them
are still there, at least from the last ten years
or so.
Speaker 5 (02:34:17):
Great Rick Tom's texting now saying I'm sorry my phone
was study again.
Speaker 2 (02:34:25):
Try it again, Tom, I'll try it again. I'm so sorry.
Rick Burger's Show on stream phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 8 (02:34:35):
List of failures.
Speaker 14 (02:34:36):
I'm gonna be honest with you. I tried smoking mushrooms once,
but I couldn't keep the fiez lit.
Speaker 9 (02:34:42):
Thank you, sir, good.
Speaker 2 (02:34:47):
We almost made it. Rick Burger's Show, unscreen phone calls,
go ahead. Rick Burgers Show on screen phone calls, go ahead. Hey,
it's normal.
Speaker 4 (02:35:00):
I know I'm a little bit earlier.
Speaker 2 (02:35:01):
Ahead and make our appointment. Please. You know what that
report me. I don't like it's changed. It's all down
in there. It's probably because changed.
Speaker 7 (02:35:14):
I looked and I was like this, But I've noticed this,
and you're you're dealing with it too.
Speaker 2 (02:35:18):
The way articles are written now, hey guys, back in
the old days, and this is the way everything else
is done. I don't know why.
Speaker 7 (02:35:24):
I don't know why written stuff has it caught up.
Speaker 2 (02:35:27):
The major part of the story should be right at
the very beginning, and they make you search in search
and search. It's the opposite of everything else. We were
told in today's world that we need to get right
to the point and not work our way to it anymore,
and keep things moving. Well, the people who.
Speaker 7 (02:35:44):
Are doing the written word, they haven't gotten there.
Speaker 2 (02:35:47):
Yeah, they haven't got Is there something about their click
if we read longer that get credited or something I
don't know, Like the drive, it's almost like they're hiding
the story from you. Give give you a really good headline,
and then they and the Good Luck Finding Us tell
you about They'll refer to a person's name and it
doesn't match, but you again, you get to go back
(02:36:07):
and say, well, who is this person?
Speaker 7 (02:36:10):
Yeah, so it's uh, it's it's a you have to
mind for gold on those things.
Speaker 2 (02:36:14):
Yeah. Rick Bird's show on screen phone calls go ahead.
Speaker 14 (02:36:18):
Good morning fellas.
Speaker 10 (02:36:19):
How y'all doing good?
Speaker 2 (02:36:20):
How are you?
Speaker 10 (02:36:23):
Yes, sir?
Speaker 15 (02:36:24):
I just uh, I know I'm a dollar shorten the
day late on this, but I just want to say
about that lady trying to rob that guy for the
NASCAR shirt, I think she took the whole phrase raise, hail,
praise down to a whole new meeting.
Speaker 2 (02:36:34):
Yeah, there's no doubt about that. I think that's a
twofer for you on that one. Yeah, thank you, thank
you for being with us. Burgess ball battle. It was
coming your way. So there they are everybody getting along
pretty good. Right now it's about to change. I wonder
who it's going to be. I've seen some people shooting. Yeah,
(02:37:00):
getting ready.
Speaker 7 (02:37:01):
That's right, moving back.
Speaker 1 (02:37:02):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. You better listen up
now what we say, bass, I'm gonna tell you.
Speaker 2 (02:37:24):
Gotta find.
Speaker 1 (02:37:29):
Broadcasting from the world The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (02:37:34):
All right, America, here we go, brand new hour, get
you ramped up, getting you ready to go for the weekend.
We'll get a chance to work through a number of
stories again this hour. But here they are the Box Saints.
They come from all over. They're standing by ready to
do battle. It's time once again for another Burgess Ball
(02:37:58):
battle to get a star. So here's how it works.
We will randomly draw from the uh the uh people
that have registered to be part of our show today.
Everybody signs in, so Speedy gets uh you know, he
gets everybody's name and he puts them all in that
(02:38:19):
little silly hat that he wears.
Speaker 14 (02:38:21):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:38:21):
He goes around, he gets everybody to put their name in.
We randomly draw two of those outs, and then those
two people go head to head in Burgess Ball. So
Speedy has taken the wireless Mike. He's made his way
over to the Burgess ball courts, and he will now
announce who will be playing. All right, Rick Marvin Williford
(02:38:43):
was drawn. Marvin goes, well, I hope there's enough friend
for two people right here. He will play Brandy Duncan.
Watch out, Okay, watch out, Oh Brandy Duncan. Okay, all right,
(02:39:04):
he's given uh, Brandy which lane she wants? Okay, said
is a room from me? He sees, I don't know
that for me.
Speaker 5 (02:39:12):
Okay, So I'm gonna get in here. We got thirty seconds, okay,
y'all gonna wait for us to tell you to go.
Last ten seconds. Everything counts as threes. And we've had
a lot of people come back and win here and
go here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:39:24):
Then they're off. Brandy's sucking shine. Oh my goodness, he's
up to nothing. Okay, we got Marvin.
Speaker 1 (02:39:29):
He is a left of y'all.
Speaker 17 (02:39:30):
It's four to four now he's come back, and Randy
suck another. When it's sixty four, Oh my goodness, Marvin's
getting nervous. It's eight to four fifteen seconds left. It
is still eight to four eleven seconds left. Now things
start counting us straight Brandy is beating him. Thirteen to four,
it's thirteen to seven. Now it's thirteen to seven. With
(02:39:52):
two seconds left, it's thirteen to ten and the game's over.
Brandy won thirteen to ten. Wow, Wow, congratulations Brandy.
Speaker 2 (02:40:02):
Oh there it is. Brandy wins. Now that doesn't mean
that Marvin's off the hook because the loss we add
to the shame Marvin. As you know, if you're familiar
with the show, you have to spend as well. But
you have to say it's not will to me. Now, Brandy,
since you won, you can take what Marvin spins as
(02:40:24):
your own, or you can think I think I can
do better, and then you once you decide to do
your own spin, then you can't go back and get
what he's fun. Okay, So Marvin, if we unless, if
you spin this thing with all the strength you've got,
we'll just take a break and come back. So, Marvin,
I want to hear you say it's not will to
(02:40:45):
me and give that baby a spin.
Speaker 4 (02:40:49):
And there you go. Here forever we will.
Speaker 2 (02:40:53):
But that there's no telling they are tomorrow. How much
you think, Marvin, get squat a thousand pounds it here
you goes, I mean it's it's still going. Uh, here go.
Speaker 7 (02:41:06):
The wheel's almost asking for help at this point.
Speaker 2 (02:41:08):
All right, so here it comes, coming back around, coming
back around, lands on Helium Boy. I'm assuming Brandy, you
really don't want to hear from Helium Boy. Now, oh
you've heard from him before. All right, go ahead to
the wheel, Brandy, and now it's your turn. So you
say it's will to me because you won, and give
(02:41:31):
it a spin. Let's see what happens. All right, Brandy,
give it a rip.
Speaker 6 (02:41:34):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:41:36):
All right, all right, here we go, coming back around.
Let's see what Brandy has spun on the wheel. Come on,
look at here, Look at here, Look at here, look
at here, look here, look at here. And the beauty
(02:42:09):
is speaking of taxes. You won't be taxed on that.
It's barely barely makes it, Sorry, Marley, even under the
big beautiful bill Marvin, sorry about that. But congratulations Brandy.

was kind of bancing off the rim.

I mean quickly, no matter it's condition. Go to Rick
Burgess Show dot com under sponsors. Arch called them directly.

Or go to Rick Burgess Show dot com under sponsors.
All right, so we've got some four people here in
the box seats that we're saying hello too. Here, come

big boy, Mike.
Speaker 9 (02:48:58):

Speaker 2 (02:48:59):
You got to be so excited. I'm loving. How proud
are you right now?
Speaker 26 (02:49:03):
I'm always proud of this lady.
Speaker 7 (02:49:06):
You know what you saw me when you and I
were I don't know if you when she was warming
up in the break, I was like, you know what,
she got.
Speaker 2 (02:49:13):
A pretty good shot.
Speaker 26 (02:49:13):
Oh she's an athlete.
Speaker 7 (02:49:15):
She is an athlete. So well, where you guys from?
Speaker 6 (02:49:19):
Trustful?
Speaker 2 (02:49:19):
Trustful? So do either one of you, both of you
have any questions your shout outs? Yeah, I'll start.
Speaker 26 (02:49:25):
We got a shout out to first my Sunday school
class at North Clay and then our grandkids. Gracie is
the oldest, Josiah, Hazel, Seth.
Speaker 2 (02:49:38):
And Prince down on your shirt. Yeah, and you're a
papa too. Thanks for the shout out, Papa. And what
do they call you, Brandy?
Speaker 4 (02:49:47):
Bb B BB?
Speaker 6 (02:49:50):
Papa?
Speaker 2 (02:49:50):
Tell us how BB got money?
Speaker 16 (02:49:53):
If I knew that he was going to wear his
papa shirt, I would have worn my baby.
Speaker 7 (02:49:57):
But we each get a hundred Papa, do we get
some of the money, Papa?
Speaker 2 (02:50:03):
So well, congratulations, that's wonderful. And you remembered all their
names without even looking down at your shirt.
Speaker 4 (02:50:07):
That's right.
Speaker 26 (02:50:08):
I did want to add two two or three extras
Italy and Isaiah, who are uh are also extra grand
sut Okay, there there's special people.
Speaker 2 (02:50:25):
Good okay, Brandy, congratulations on your big win. When you
saw Big Marvin coming over there, did you think you
thought you were in trouble? You thought you're in trouble?
Speaker 21 (02:50:36):
Just stuck to my game?
Speaker 8 (02:50:38):
You did?
Speaker 2 (02:50:39):
I noticed that you?
Speaker 6 (02:50:41):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:50:41):
And what what Big Marvin struggle with is that's an
unforgiving rim as I said, and these are not regulation
size basketball hoops, so it's a soft touch that usually works.
Speaker 7 (02:50:52):
And you you got that doll there. So do you
have questions your or shout out?
Speaker 17 (02:50:56):
I do.
Speaker 16 (02:50:56):
I actually have some shout outs and a question. It's
a burning question, question that you'll actually answer.
Speaker 9 (02:51:05):
Trouble.
Speaker 2 (02:51:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 21 (02:51:06):
So the the shout outs.
Speaker 16 (02:51:09):
Would be our kids Jake his wife, Taylor, Josh, Austin
and Isaac and Rachel. And then extra children which I
call my children from different mothers and fathers.
Speaker 21 (02:51:25):
That would be.
Speaker 16 (02:51:27):
Uh, Stephen and Savannah, Alex and Sherry wowing.
Speaker 2 (02:51:34):
Question.
Speaker 16 (02:51:34):
Well, one more shout out. Sorry, sorry, I want to finish.
So I'd like to also shout out to all of
my former customers. I used to own Prestige Uniforms and
Trustful I sold it. It was a family business. We
were in business for a long long time and sold
it at the end of last well the beginning of
last year, back in March, and I really really missed
(02:51:56):
my customers. I don't miss running the business.
Speaker 2 (02:51:58):
As the customers. Congratulations on having a successful business and
being able to sell that.
Speaker 7 (02:52:04):
And so I'm sure your customers miss you too.
Speaker 9 (02:52:07):
I hope so.
Speaker 16 (02:52:08):
And Cheryl who's here with me, and Katie both of
them worked for me, Cheryl for like twenty one years.
Speaker 6 (02:52:15):
Wow.
Speaker 21 (02:52:15):
But anyway, my question is, I know, I bet you
would be.
Speaker 16 (02:52:21):
I feel like it probably would be okay for you
to tell us this the answer to this question. But
I want to know what the science that you guys
came up with you and Bubba when y'all were doing
the baby. Oh okay, okay, the questions were, you know, well,
how'd y'all come up with all of them?
Speaker 7 (02:52:41):
Okay, all right?
Speaker 2 (02:52:46):
But they were so accurate what he said. There actually
were some you know, the mail is the one that
sends either the X and the Y and so and
so you have to really concentrate on, you know, the
man and then what has this wonderful connection? How's it
(02:53:10):
affecting now the mother who's carrying the child and so
there there's there's some science behind different pH balances and
things like that.
Speaker 7 (02:53:19):
Am I doing so far?
Speaker 2 (02:53:20):
You're doing good?
Speaker 7 (02:53:21):
And uh that can that can have an impact on
on which gender the baby turns out to be?
Speaker 6 (02:53:30):
Good?
Speaker 2 (02:53:30):
And then and their science behind science, Yeah, it is
and some of it was thrown in there, mixed in
with the science just for comedy. That's what I was wondering, right, Yeah,
so there was some science. Uh and uh and then
plus it's the fifty to fifty shot. Yeah, but they
they have you know, if you've ever there, there are
actually some books out there that try to help Paris. Yeah, right,
(02:53:54):
you know, saying, hey, if you're trying to get a
particular gender, here's some things that could increase your chances.
Speaker 7 (02:53:58):
So if you've ever read any of the books, some
of it came from that, gotcha.
Speaker 2 (02:54:04):
Yeah? Does that make any sense?
Speaker 4 (02:54:05):
I guess?
Speaker 2 (02:54:05):
Okay, But if your bigger question was was that all science?
Speaker 7 (02:54:09):
The answer is no, Yeah, is there some Is there
some science?
Speaker 6 (02:54:13):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:54:14):
Is there some science?
Speaker 6 (02:54:15):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (02:54:16):
But like Greg said, that fifty to fifty shot gives
you pretty hell that's pretty good odds. Yeah, but we
saw that some of it was really remarkably an indicator,
you know, of having a pretty good chance of getting
it right.
Speaker 9 (02:54:28):
I love the show.
Speaker 16 (02:54:29):
The Listener for a long long time was the one
that got me listening. Interestingly enough, I used to tell
our friends, don't let friends listen to Rick and Byba right, no,
it any you know what.
Speaker 2 (02:54:41):
Eventually, you know, the show just took a hold of you,
and then you finally and then you finally get confident
enough to tell someone publicly that you listen to take
some time. Yeah, well I'm good.
Speaker 21 (02:54:52):
We've been like fifteen or so years and I.
Speaker 7 (02:54:54):
Would ask you for like the new show, but you
just won five hundred.
Speaker 16 (02:54:57):
Dollars podcast listener, and I haven't missed a show.
Speaker 2 (02:55:02):
Thank you, Thank you very much.
Speaker 7 (02:55:04):
Well, I'm glad you wake five hundred. She speaks the
language she does.
Speaker 26 (02:55:07):
We're we're weak past our fifteenth anniverse happy.
Speaker 2 (02:55:14):
Look at you on my mind? What a sweet little couple.
You ever know how happy people get when they win money?
They just get love? Yeah, you know she made a
delicious dish. Oh yeah, it was Colle sausage Strata strata.
Speaker 5 (02:55:25):
Yeah, and she said that that helps me to know
y'all like it because I stayed up really late last
night when it and real delicious, real good.
Speaker 19 (02:55:33):
Oh.
Speaker 9 (02:55:33):
I love a good strata. I'm gonna have to check
that out.
Speaker 2 (02:55:35):
It's fantastic. And Greg course got his fritters, so thanks,
you'll bringing great fritters, getting fudge from BUCkies. We'll come back,
We'll meet the rest of the box seats right after this.
Stay close.
Speaker 1 (02:55:52):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is the show
that the world desperately needs, the Rick Burtis Show.
Speaker 2 (02:56:07):

of our forty week curriculum as well. All right, we're
still meeting folks in the box seats. Go on, say,
Brandy was here? Where's Cheryl Spurling, Katie Stamping? Here they
come Cheryl Spurling and Katie Stanley to the Big Boy Mike.
Speaker 7 (02:56:52):
Hello, Hello, and so where you guys from.
Speaker 21 (02:56:55):

Speaker 2 (02:56:56):
Bringville, Alabama.
Speaker 7 (02:56:58):
All right, what about you? Trustful Alabama? Okay, So any questions,
you shout outs?
Speaker 10 (02:57:04):
I have shout outs, and then I have two short
stories about your dad. I just wanted to get a
shout out to my eight grandchildren.
Speaker 11 (02:57:13):
Wow.
Speaker 10 (02:57:14):
Yeah, well one of them, we son, my grandson just
got married. But it's Brandon Spencer, and then is Zachary.
Let's see Brindley Blakeley, Uh trivial read and my baby
girl Bella wows.
Speaker 9 (02:57:33):
They're precious.
Speaker 21 (02:57:34):
They're the most wonderful thing Scott could ever give.
Speaker 4 (02:57:36):
A hum.
Speaker 2 (02:57:39):
Like them, you know.
Speaker 10 (02:57:40):
And then I went to Banks High School. Rick was
telling me that his must have been like one of
his father's work, you know. First job was his first job.
And the first little story is I was fifteen and
we used to always play at Legion Field on football
and we're going down the road and I'm in the boat,
said my little boyfriend I was dating, was a football player.
Speaker 21 (02:58:03):
And we got up by the bus.
Speaker 10 (02:58:04):
And he looked at me and I looked at him,
and we waved. And I didn't think anything about it
until Monday morning. I was walking into the gym and y'all,
sweet dad, I heard him go.
Speaker 18 (02:58:15):
Little girl, little girl, and I turned around, Yes, sir,
don't you ever ever wait for those boys on that
bus again.
Speaker 21 (02:58:26):
Don't wave at my players. They've got to get out
there and think about football. And I just went yes.
Speaker 2 (02:58:36):
A bit.
Speaker 10 (02:58:38):
And then the second one was about three months after that.
We were playing basketball, and I jammed to my finger
and they said go around.
Speaker 21 (02:58:48):
To go coach Burgess's office and let him look at it.
Speaker 9 (02:58:51):
Yeah, yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (02:58:54):
Get that tape out and I will.
Speaker 21 (02:58:55):
Oh no, no, no, it was worse than that to me.
And so I walk over there and he looks at
me and he goes, well, what you knew? And I
held my hand out. I said, my fingers jammed at hearts.
He said, well, give me your hand. He jerked that.
Speaker 10 (02:59:10):
I like to hit the floor, and he said, well,
don't faint, don't whine, You'll be fine.
Speaker 21 (02:59:15):
Just gone back.
Speaker 2 (02:59:16):
Yeah, I'm he didn't get that white tape type, but.
Speaker 21 (02:59:21):
He said it was fine. But it was just he
made a big impression on me.
Speaker 2 (02:59:25):
He almost everybody about that.
Speaker 10 (02:59:27):
He did me.
Speaker 2 (02:59:28):
Yeah, And I was telling you earlier because that was
his first job. He probably wasn't more than twenty twenty three.
Speaker 9 (02:59:35):
Maybe he was young.
Speaker 21 (02:59:36):
I was fifteen.
Speaker 10 (02:59:37):
I mean he had just got there because he was
you know, was under Shorty White. Yeah, you know, because
when we were the powerhouse.
Speaker 7 (02:59:45):
Absolutely you know, really good Johnny Moosso.
Speaker 21 (02:59:47):
Yeah, I mean that was the era Jeff and.
Speaker 2 (02:59:51):
Later Jeff Legit.
Speaker 21 (02:59:53):
Yeah, yeah, it was a great school.
Speaker 2 (02:59:55):
Yeah no, not about that. Okay, what about you? Do
you have any shout out your questions?
Speaker 19 (02:59:59):
Just want shout out my family and all my coworkers

Speaker 2 (03:00:12):

Speaker 19 (03:00:13):
They're so sweet, good Christian women, all of them. And
I just want to let you know that I know
your wife. Just say hello to her for me. I
had some French classes with her.
Speaker 2 (03:00:23):

Speaker 7 (03:00:25):

Speaker 2 (03:00:27):

getting know she said it felt so odd for her
to be there with all you young college girls taking home.
Speaker 13 (03:00:38):
We loved her.
Speaker 19 (03:00:38):
Oh yeah, your wife is so interesting and sweet she is.
Speaker 7 (03:00:42):
You're right, and I know you can't believe that she
married me but.
Speaker 9 (03:00:48):
Opposites a tract.
Speaker 2 (03:00:49):

Speaker 7 (03:01:58):

Speaker 2 (03:02:07):

of there that shouldn't be there.
Speaker 7 (03:02:15):
I appreciate that.
Speaker 2 (03:02:16):
Wait try our best.
Speaker 7 (03:02:17):
Yeah, well you do a great job and it really
makes us feel comfortable down there and looked after.
Speaker 2 (03:02:21):
So I appreciate that. I appreciate that. Were you supposed
to mention his work there, I'm sorry. I'm not mentioning that. No,
that's fine, nobody said.
Speaker 7 (03:02:28):
I just I would like to publicly thank him.
Speaker 2 (03:02:31):
Okay, Hey, I mean you know, I ain't no need
for him to be down there.
Speaker 7 (03:02:35):
I look after that place, but I won't put up
with nothing, So I'm all right, what about you?
Speaker 13 (03:02:40):
I just want to shout out my wife, Kelsey, four kids, Jack, Sam,
Olivian Parker, and uh, I just want to say in uh,
in a world where everybody's looking for representation, I think
I need to thank you, Rick, because the best of
b where you're trying to get all those kids ready
for church.
Speaker 9 (03:02:57):
Yes, that's my life every Sunday.
Speaker 2 (03:03:00):
You're living at right now.
Speaker 13 (03:03:01):
They're they're never all bad, but every time one of
them is bad.
Speaker 7 (03:03:07):
And just the stress of getting the vehicle to get
to church.
Speaker 2 (03:03:10):
It's chaos. It is. It's wonderful case.
Speaker 4 (03:03:13):
I love it. I love it.
Speaker 9 (03:03:14):
It's awesome.
Speaker 2 (03:03:14):
Yeah, well they're watching.
Speaker 13 (03:03:15):
I appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (03:03:18):
We're talking to break. I would love to be there
with you. I'm not refreshing at all being here. So
that's great, man. Thanks, thanks to all of you that
took time to be with us today, and hope you've
had a good time and enjoy the rest of the
show and we come back. Speaking of that, we haven't
(03:03:39):
got an update from Adler. Coach Eagle has been a
little coach Eagle has been a little quiet about the
soccer and and if I'm not mistaken you you just
uh been to a field trip too, is that right?
Speaker 14 (03:03:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (03:03:54):
Actually, skidaddled out of here yesterday after we did strange
encounters for a quick trip out to Old Baker fall of.
Speaker 2 (03:04:04):
You guys know we have been the Old Baker Farmer.
We'll come back. So we're gonna add their on the
field trip and update on how Tuesday night soccer.
Speaker 9 (03:04:13):
Is going here, you know kind of.
Speaker 2 (03:04:16):
They have been playing well.
Speaker 6 (03:04:21):
Well.
Speaker 2 (03:04:21):
As a coach, he was two and oh and then
he went to two and two.
Speaker 9 (03:04:24):
I'm like the Bill Belichick of kids, uh kids soccer,
and I'm not talking about the Patriots years turning out
the u NC years.
Speaker 2 (03:04:32):
Okay, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (03:04:34):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, only in America. Could
these four men do this for a living? God bless America.
(03:04:54):
This is the Wick Burgis Show, having a blast.
Speaker 2 (03:05:00):
Thank you for being with us today, America. So we're
gonna check in with Adler. He's been working hard, as
is the norm. So you got a brand new Strange
Encounters coming out this this weekend wherever you get podcasts,
and also another ricking Bubba's Greatest Hits in Radio Gold. So, Adler,
you rolled out of here the other day. You want
(03:05:22):
to go first of all field trip update.
Speaker 9 (03:05:25):
Yeah, yeah, yesterday it was Ruby's I guess, first real
field trip, her first time riding a school bush. I
got to ride a school bus without a seat belt.
Oh that's so big, you know, You're like, I'm free.
Speaker 2 (03:05:40):
Yeah, this is so cool. Isn't it odd that and
we all grew up when the school bus was a
normal part of life. We all they literally put us
on school buses. We were way too young to be
on here with older kids that taughtest things we should
have never known.
Speaker 9 (03:05:52):
Yes, I've noticed. Yeah, you'll have some age mixing the
bush the guys in the back of the bus. What's
that weird?
Speaker 11 (03:06:00):
All that?
Speaker 7 (03:06:01):
I wonder if I wonder if they'll get my hat back?
Speaker 9 (03:06:03):
Yeah, probably not.
Speaker 5 (03:06:05):
And then they didn't really care what stop you got
off then either. Now it's like, oh anywhere stopt.
Speaker 9 (03:06:16):
I'll never forget I was a kid on the bus.
I think I was in kindergarten. We're getting off the bus.
I'm off the bus, and we had made you know
how you make a funny hat pretty much like once
a week sometime, Yes, And we had like it was
like Harry Harry Hat Day or something like that, and
we made these big funny hats. I'll never forget my buddy.
I'm getting off the bus. My brother's getting off the bus.
(03:06:38):
All our neighborhood kids are getting off because this is
our stop. And I'll never forget looking up and seeing
my buddy who's like struggling with his hat. I'm looking
through the window and he's like putting his hat on
because he wanted to put his hat on before he
got off the bus. He's putting his hat on and
that bus just pulling away. My buddy, he was put
(03:07:01):
on Stelle and it was gone. That bus was gone.
I don't know if I get ever made it home, No,
but yeah, she was very excited about that. Ezra was
incredibly jealous. He is at the phase where he points
out every single school bus he sees, Daddy, it's a
school bus. And if you don't acknowledge that it's he's
(03:07:24):
going to talk about it for twenty minutes.
Speaker 8 (03:07:26):
Right.
Speaker 9 (03:07:26):
The school bus is long gone, right, but he's he's
going to say, I saw a school bus, and you better,
you better acknowledge that I saw a school bus.
Speaker 6 (03:07:36):
Right.
Speaker 9 (03:07:36):
He's just super into dump trucks right now. He knows
all about that's the that's a mint mixer, min mixer,
mint mixer, mint.
Speaker 7 (03:07:45):
Mix there, and he knows that.
Speaker 9 (03:07:47):
He knows all this stuff. It's amazing. Excavator all this time.
That's a big one. That's a small one, yes, yes, excavator,
ecavator something you know like MI mint mixer. But school
school bus, all that stuff, he was tea all that. Yeah,
has a lot of heavy equipment and they pick it up.
They love heavy equipment. Who doesn't I still do. By
(03:08:09):
the way, I'm still looking for a mini excavator. And
that's a lot of a lot of part why he
knows what an excavator about. I'm gonna get one, guy, Gary.
I talked to Gary, but he was Gary bothered me.
He didn't want to He didn't want me to touch
his talke.
Speaker 6 (03:08:26):
That I did.
Speaker 5 (03:08:26):
I got secondhand when he talked to garyout. Oh no,
it was a very awkward situation. Likes doing is asking
was he suggesting that he borrowed.
Speaker 2 (03:08:35):
Gary's for like a year or two. I had a
lot of work to do, kind of look down on
many many Yeah, he did, he did.
Speaker 9 (03:08:44):
And it was a lot of it was like what
are you getting into my world for? Kind of Gary,
kind of like hey, you hipster buddy, long hair, get
out of here kind of things. Have sleeves on nice
you know, that's fine. That's fine.
Speaker 2 (03:08:58):
Uh.
Speaker 9 (03:08:58):
But Yeah, got out to Old Bake Farm, which is
farther down the road, which is perfect. I was able
to run there real quick. The field trip was over
when I got there.
Speaker 2 (03:09:11):
You tried to make a field trip and didn't make it.
Well luckily did you drive there to see her and
get on the bus to go back.
Speaker 9 (03:09:19):
Y'all. I'm pulling in, the bus is leaving, the bus
is gone. Luckily my wife was there to give Ruby
a ride, so y'all, I get to get there and
the parking lot is empty and it's my wife's car
and like my car, and I'm like, okay, well, I
guess we have Old Baker Farms to ourselves. So I
apologize to Old Baker Farms for walking around just with
(03:09:40):
my family.
Speaker 2 (03:09:40):
But you had to make that camp like we owned.
Speaker 9 (03:09:42):
The place, right, so we actually had the place for ourselves.
It was awesome. I got to run through, y'all. It
was so fun, just running through like a corn maze
with my five year old daughter and just chasing her
around and climbing up on haybells and going through like
hay tunnel slides. I got in the back of a
gigantic and wagon and I'm just jumping around in raw
(03:10:03):
cotton with my kid. But it was amazing. I don't
think I was supposed to do any of this stuff
because there was nobody around.
Speaker 2 (03:10:10):
Here's what was that what I'm worried about. Because you
got there when the field trip was over and the
bus was leaving. You really had yourself set up for
a moment of somebody calling No, I can see him.
There's this man chasing this little girl through a corn Maide.
Speaker 9 (03:10:22):
Yes, he's chasing her right now, he's right now chasing her.
Speaker 2 (03:10:26):
Yes, he's like a short Jesus.
Speaker 9 (03:10:28):
Yes, he came out of the woods. So just so
that was awkward.
Speaker 2 (03:10:35):
He drove up in a van, a serious van, a
deduction van.
Speaker 9 (03:10:39):
It's an abduction van.
Speaker 4 (03:10:40):
Right.
Speaker 2 (03:10:41):
If he catches her, he's putting in that van.
Speaker 9 (03:10:44):
He's actually doing it. The workers, the workers were kind
of packing things up, and we're just kind of walking around,
and I'm like, I need I need thirty minutes to
walk around this place.
Speaker 2 (03:10:55):
I'm really sorry. I drove all the way from work.
Speaker 7 (03:10:57):
I got to make this case.
Speaker 9 (03:10:58):
Yes, but they had horse and donkeys and chickens and
goats and ducks and all kinds of stuff. And the
chickens were a great opportunity for me to bring up
the fact that probably one day I'm thinking about possibly
maybe getting chicken. Call me, Farmer Brown.
Speaker 7 (03:11:17):
My neighbors across the street have done it. Thank you
for the rooster.
Speaker 2 (03:11:21):
We all love it.
Speaker 9 (03:11:22):
Yeah, you don't need to get a male chicken. Everybody
that plus that will mess up your eggs because you
guys know the eggs are just unfertilized.
Speaker 2 (03:11:29):
We understand.
Speaker 9 (03:11:30):
You guys know what eggs are.
Speaker 7 (03:11:32):
Tough day for me, procreation.
Speaker 9 (03:11:34):
It's honestly almost a perfect food. It's like almost everything
that you need for life right in there. So eat
the white and the yolk. I'm just saying, God made it.
God made it for a reason. God loves us, and
God designed that.
Speaker 2 (03:11:49):
Okay, thanks bad, all right, I sound good or bad?
I don't think we have time for Genesis go ahead.
Speaker 9 (03:11:55):
In the beginning. So that was honestly, I'm.
Speaker 2 (03:11:57):
Just like, you won't leave, Yeah, you won't leave. This
guy drove. It was awkward.
Speaker 9 (03:12:06):
We walked past several workers that were like putting covers
over things. You know they're shutting it down.
Speaker 2 (03:12:12):
Did they try to close? Did they try to close
things like loud so like you could take a hint.
Speaker 9 (03:12:17):
It was a lot of like, well, time to wrap
it up.
Speaker 2 (03:12:22):
Damn. Wow, what a big day that was. It's over now,
film trip's done this when we get to go home,
if everybody.
Speaker 9 (03:12:29):
Will lave yes, sorry about that, but I had to.
Speaker 2 (03:12:32):
I had I was still a pumpkin. Come on.
Speaker 9 (03:12:34):
Yeah, so there you go. That was I'm just so
thankful for moments like that. I'm like, this is like
one of the most fun moments of my life running
through haybales with my daughter, like.
Speaker 7 (03:12:43):
It's it's just so amazing to the other children.
Speaker 9 (03:12:46):
That was honestly great, perfect from the heart. Yeah, yeah,
so that was great. This past Tuesday, I had I've
only got two more weeks of soccer.
Speaker 2 (03:12:58):
So y'all got a long staves long.
Speaker 9 (03:13:04):
You started, Hey, it feels long, might not be long,
feels it feels like.
Speaker 2 (03:13:09):
They just want to check off.
Speaker 6 (03:13:14):
Did you have soccer? Sort of?
Speaker 9 (03:13:16):
Yeah, it's it's four year olds through fourth grade.
Speaker 2 (03:13:19):
We repick.
Speaker 7 (03:13:21):
The last time we heard from you, you your record
had dropped it two and two.
Speaker 9 (03:13:24):
No uniforms, penny, We got pennies, okay, nice, not enough
so that only one team can wear a penny. And
that causes what are you saying, penny Jersey, little penny.
We don't know about. You're not really in the sports world, speedy,
so I know more.
Speaker 2 (03:13:40):
About They got penny and we didn't.
Speaker 9 (03:13:43):
And I had I had like five girls and three boys,
and the boys are so squirrely and they're always messing
with each other, just like always poking at each other.
I'm like, stop touching each other.
Speaker 2 (03:13:57):
I said that.
Speaker 9 (03:13:58):
I said it really loud, though my parents heard it
and stuff. I'm like, they're like, okay, yeah, there, angry coach,
and so on the all the penny. I put all
the pennies on the girls because the girls want to
stick together too. And then but I don't have even teams,
and so I say to the girls, I'm like, all right, girls,
y'all have more people. So if you score a goal,
you're going to have to take off your penny and
(03:14:19):
go on the other team. And then Ruby goes, I
don't want to score a goal. And so I just
realized I made it. I made it so they don't.
Speaker 2 (03:14:27):
Want to score. Took the reward system and.
Speaker 9 (03:14:31):
Scratch that scrat you're holding. Change it's it's not it's
a penny jersey because call it or you don't know
about sports, okay or soccer.
Speaker 7 (03:14:44):
Let the athlete and the coach speak and.
Speaker 9 (03:14:46):
The rest of us down and so right, So I
realized that ID incentifized scoring.
Speaker 2 (03:14:53):
So that was bad. I went and.
Speaker 9 (03:14:54):
Grabbed another kid from another field, and so then I
even evened it out come kid, I didn't grab them like,
don't look at me like that, did you?
Speaker 11 (03:15:02):
No, no, no, no.
Speaker 9 (03:15:04):
Campbell was a stark and so you know, I'm trying
to avoid injuries. I had a very similar situation that
our studio audience member mentioned a jam finger, and so
you know, evidently you're just supposed to pull on it.
Speaker 2 (03:15:19):
Really, is that what I'm supped.
Speaker 9 (03:15:21):
Ruby got hit in the face with a soccer ball
that was horrible. Her nose changed shape for a little while,
you know, but I'm like, it's fine, baby, I'll go back,
go back to normal. So only two more weeks, so
darn couldn't can't home? Hurry up?
Speaker 2 (03:15:33):
Please?
Speaker 1 (03:15:36):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
