(02:08):

Email us we have emails today. Hey Burd, Hey Burd.
We'll do around of that today. Recap stories from the weekend.
Testing one two men back back back, walk to all
Mike's working, all Mike's working checks. Okay, good, everybody is here.
It is a big story and a lot of you

(02:30):
are texting it. You are correct. Pope Francis has has
passed away at the age of eighty eight years old.
We knew he had been very sick. They started to
kind of try to make it look like that he
was going to make a comeback. Saw him a few times.
Didn't think he looked real good when we saw him,

(02:53):
obviously at his age what he was going through his
body just finally quit. So they are now officially saying
that Pope Francis has died his earthly death at the
age of eighty eight. Bells have told in the church
towers across Rome. After the announcement, and then they'll work

(03:15):
through the process of who is the next pope and
we'll do the smoke thing and all that. Again.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yeah, did y'all see that jd Vance was like hanging
out with him just once the day before.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, that was interesting to your point, Adler, because Vice
President Vance had put out that I just spent the
day with him, I guess yesterday, Yes, and this is surprised,
but you know, and then he of course put out
his condolences and everything. But yeah, he was just with
him yesterday and the pope sitting up talking.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, yes, that's on Easter Sunday yesterday. And then all
was saying he looked isn't that crazy?

Speaker 1 (03:53):
Like seven thirty am local time? There. He passed away
the day after Easter today.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
And d Vance did tweet out he was obviously sick.
He said that in his tweets. So maybe that's just
it is wild to see him interacting in a you know.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
He wasn't. I mean, he's sitting up talking, he's.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
In a chair, but they're shaking hands and it doesn't
look great.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
But yeah, it's still surprising. Yeah, So of course eventually
the left will blame J. D Vance for killing the pope.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Yeah, yes, that's what they're saying. No, they are, they're
saying what you do j D. What do? Yeah, they
did not not mainstream media, but sure, you know, of.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
Course, yeah, yeah, I bet Babylon Be's gonna have a blast. Yes,
they are, imagine And and is it true that JD
Vance Uh he converted to Catholicism? Is that correct?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
You may be right about that.

Speaker 1 (04:49):
It seems like I saw an article about that. And
I could be wrong, but I saw an article because
I you know, I didn't know. You know, has he
always been that or didn't? When he got married?

Speaker 2 (05:00):
Did he Catholic?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Yeah? But has he always been Catholic?

Speaker 2 (05:04):
You think to be an atheist?

Speaker 1 (05:07):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Really, he used to used to be an atheist. I'm
just reading here.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Okay, you know so there you think his wife would
be Hindu?

Speaker 2 (05:14):
Well right, yeah, I regret saying what did you say? Greg?

Speaker 1 (05:19):
What's wrong with you that?

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yes? Sorry? No? No?

Speaker 1 (05:21):
What is that offensive?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
No?

Speaker 3 (05:23):
No, it's just something raising you scratching your chin saying
it with that attitude.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
It's not what you said, Greg, is how you said
around him? There I was.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
I'm looking, uh, I'm looking to at some of you
are that are Greg's minions?

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Pope?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Greg is never going to happen. No, okay, there's people
when we would not be white smoking that. No one's
gonna throw Greg's hat in the ring for that something.
There you go. Uh, but Pope Francis has gone on
in and we will see, we'll follow the process on
who will be the next pope. You know, when you're
dealing with the Vatican and you're dealing with all that.

(05:58):
Every time there's a transition of pope, noess, it's always yeah,
just I don't know what it is. There's always just
a little bit of a feeling because you know, it's
just wells I almost say, there's no win for me
going any further back. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:15):
Stop.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
You know, Greg and I were talking earlier for the
American for the Catholic Americans out is this a big.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I mean, I mean, I know, I know that's Pope Catholic, American.

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Catholics or whatever. I'm Catholic, I live in America. I'm
not of ethnicity. But you know what I'm saying. Surely
you know what I'm saying. You're Catholic, you live in America.
Is this does this affect your name?

Speaker 5 (06:44):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Well, which courting how devout you are, That's what I mean. Yeah,
if you're devout yes. Oh it's a bigie. Now, if
you're kind of a cultural Catholic, you may not care.
But but if you're if you're like practicing your faith, yes,
big deal. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Yeah, well, Greg, we couldn't land on because I have
a few friends, Grig, you know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
I mean just enjoyed it. I just enjoyed it. It
was just funny.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
I'm sorry it did sound like an ethnicity.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
But no, yeah, yes, that's your question. And I know
what your question was. That's a yes. Yes, yes, we
felt like it was a yes. We couldn't land on
it now because I mean, all right, let's let's put
it this way. Let's say let's say that you you
are Protestant. Okay, so let's say that we don't do

(07:40):
it this way, but let's say in the in the
Protestant world. Okay. Over on the Baptist side, let's let's
get real specific. Frank Billy Graham. So let's let'sten pretend
that Billy Graham, he's not it's not the way we
do it, but pretend that Billy Graham is like the
highest level of our faith. We all look to Billy
Graham to even go to say things is as big

(08:05):
as we as Baptists will now change on this topic.
Oh my, yeah, makes the rules. Yeah, and so if
Billy Graham makes the rules and say, all of a sudden,
you're Baptist and today you wake up and Billy Graham
has just died, and you're like, well, who's gonna be next,
it wou'd be a big dealty. Oh yeah, well, I
mean a lot of people called Billy Graham the Baptist Pope. Yeah, no,
you're right, Yeah they did, they did. Of course he wasn't,

(08:27):
but yes.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
Right, yeah, I did find jad Evance. He tweeted, I
just learned of the Pope's passing. It was great to
see him yesterday. But he was obviously very ill. Those
were his words and the tweets. Okay, I guess it
wasn't as much of a surprise to him as it
was to me, after seeing that footage of them to.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Get Yeah, yeah, no, look, we've all thought it was
old footage. Yes, hey, raise your hand. If you've ever
had that visitor, I've had that visit. Yeah, where you
leave you like it ain't gonna be long now.

Speaker 6 (08:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Yeah, so that's probably he probably is not as surprised
as everybody's making them out to me. Yeah, yeah, basically,
and when you finally spoke, it is on words. You
see that maybe when others speak for you, it's a
little different than when you speak for yourself. Yeah. Yeah,
fifteen minutes pasted, we'll come back. We have a lot

(09:17):
to cover today. So yes, those of you that are
texting that, we are aware, and Pope Francis has passed away.
More of the Rick Burgess show coming up right after this.

response on this, and for good reason. I mean, you know,

involve them in our conversations again, or if you're in
this situation, it would help you. But while they're expensive,
not anymore, not anymore thanks to MD Hearing right now,

(10:03):
I'm so thankful for this ent surgeon who saw how
many of his patients needed hearing aids. We couldn't afford him,

home of one O four seven w zz K, we

(11:09):
have been invited to participate in a softball game that
is sponsored and presented by the American Baseball Foundation. They
call it Opening Day. It'll be this Thursday, four pm.
First pitch. Historic Rickwood Field. Names like Willie May Satchel

(11:33):
Page all played there so in many others in the
museum itself is worth your time to go down there,
and probably honestly when it was when it was brought up,
i'm i'm We're honored to be asked to be part
of it. But one of the biggest points that made
us do a follow up email was the fact that

(11:54):
it's gonna be at rick wood Field. I thought that
that'd be a cool that's a cool experience. I have
an update for one Chris Eddie van Adler. Boy, did
you catch my text? I know, Easter weekend when you
have little kids, it's crazy. You may not have seen
it to our group text, he is Risen. Well, no,
that was that was Sunday morning.

Speaker 2 (12:16):
Oh my goodness? Do I miss that?

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Did you miss it?

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Yes? I want you?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
I wondered why I got no no response? Yes, yes,
So it is official now, sir.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
I'm in.

Speaker 1 (12:28):
You will be taking O. Yes, you will be taking
on the national anthem. I don't know whether you're wanting
to shred or just sing it or combo. Oh my goodness,
but I want you to know it is real.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Okay, okay, all right, Well we'll work out the logistics
and can I bring my own pyro y?

Speaker 1 (12:48):
Yes of course. So so if you're if you want
to come over to this game, there's I mean, you're
just just you just come three pm. They'll start kind
of they do a press conference like at one thirty
or something talking about the American Baseball Foundation and everything
they do. Then you kind of roll through the day.
Three PM. Will all kind of be warming up, and
then Adler will sing the national anthem. Speedy and Greg

(13:10):
will be your PA. Announcers CJ the DJ will be
spinning hits and I'm supposed to find out today are
soon Casey who's with the American Baseball Foundation, And I'm
gonna hand him over to you. You need to start
interacting with him because there's things y'all need to know.
All of you do. I'm gonna group everybody in today.

(13:30):
But he said that they're going to announce the lineups today. Maybe,
but he said definitely today or tomorrow. I don't even
I don't even know what team I'm own or who
I'm playing with, so we'll see. All I know is
I'm playing the one bag and I'm wearing forty four
and batting in the force loot. That's all I know.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Shoulder, I brought a couple of gloves in for you today. Oh,
nice baseball gloves, and so we're gonna look through those.
One just generic utility glove. You can play whatever position.
I did bring a first Basement's mit that in case
you know it's staying a little bit, you could always
wear it.

Speaker 1 (14:10):
Well, I've got my revived batt and glove I'm gonna
wear under it. I think I prefer the other glove
with the back and glove under it because I've never
worn a first baseman's mint playing one bag before wearing
a normal glove. Yeah, I just brought. I brought more
than you need. Sure, but you brought three first basement mits.
But you walked in with an arm full of gloves. Well,
you know, one thing I went to the grudge one thing.

(14:31):
One thing I wasn't prepared for is you know, it
been a long time. So I put a glove on,
try to squeeze it with arthritis, have a little bit older,
now watch it.

Speaker 3 (14:40):
Luckily those are really broken in, so there's not a
whole lot there. Well, you know the one you put
the ring finger in your pinky finger in the on
the far left and it closes easier to double up there.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Well, I don't know if you remember the one that
I played with when we all played softball together. I
mean it was like you could take it and folded
in half. I mean you talk about in that baby
was broke in. Yeah. So but anyway, will you have gloves?
You have bat and know where that glove is? Should
I look for it? What's your cough? You don't if
you don't like? No, I like these, but I like

(15:11):
my own glove better. But I mean, I know you
go go to looking, but I'll look. But I'm I'm
I tell you one thing I looked at and found
in the closet yesterday, hit away back in the corner.
My pinstripes. You get to wear those. I'm working now.
They may be a little big on me because remember, yeah,
I remember back when I wore those. Oh one bag

(15:32):
had a three or five over there. Do you have
any clach just cann wear tersts. I got to look
for my cleats, but I said, it seems like a
lot of look in this way. But I want to
break put up for a while. Oh yeah, I want
to bring out my white cleats because that's what I'm playing.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
So are you're paying attention to it? Because you cat
this Greg. At some point I need you dialed in.

Speaker 1 (15:54):
Hey, you know what else? I need to find my stirrups.
I got to get them out here you go. I'm
you know, most guys are going to show up playing
shorts because they ain't sares like me. You got your
little stretch your belt. I'm on find one. We'll have
to stretch as far as you used to do. That's right,
just take it up to find it. You're gonna wear
it right straight up? Pants, I will. I will walk

(16:16):
on the down that field and penstrop baseball pants. Uh,
white clicks stirrups if I can find them, okay, and uh,
and then I'll have, of course my undershirt to warm up.
End that I'm gonna put my jersey in there is
so so but oh my grace, everybody. Sherry keeps it.
She I think shery she may come. She's taking about coming.

(16:38):
She just says, please, I'm just begging you. This is
all for fun. Do not go out and get put
in the hospital trying to be the m v P
of a game. You're sixty, please, and don't do this.

Speaker 2 (16:52):
MVP glory Rick, do it for glory?

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Well, I said, I don't understand why anybody steps on
the diamond or on the grid iron if they're not
stepping out there to make something happen, you know what,
or the court.

Speaker 2 (17:02):
Oh boy, well, I've got my suit ready for the
national anthem, ready to roll here.

Speaker 3 (17:06):
Oh please be in that. Oh interesting, he showed the
kid same.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
Yeah, so that's my suit. Yeah, that's that's actually it.
You know what if you if you know that, if
you don't sing the national anthem in that listen, I
would if I was out there right now, I would
find a way to be at rick Woodfield Thursday night
by four, if by three forty five, if for no
other reason to hear addressing the national aanth Yeah, I
mean for no other reason. Yeah, I mean to me

(17:34):
that that's worth making the effort right there. I saw
him the last time he's saying it.

Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah, Greg, and you were like heckling me from the stands.
Well thanks a lot that, yeahs.

Speaker 1 (17:45):
Some of you are. How about some Mountain Texas Rick
lost his batting gloves yet, No, I still have them.
I had to put them up in a safe spot. Yeah,
so I've got those and uh, and we'll be ready
to go. And people asking how can I watch y'all play.
You have to get to burmingh him uh. This Thursday,
Rick wood Field, four pm, First pitch, pre game starts
at three, So we're gonna have a blast. And Casey

(18:09):
finally has admitted that basically this show is taking over
the entire game. Well, it didn't start out that way.
It didn't start out that way. But look, if you
if you're gonna you know.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
If you're just declaring a lot of this, Rick, Yeah,
Well for some reason we're broadcasting Greg.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
I don't know where we were at. Yeah. To me,
it's kind of like, you know, the great shirt that
my wife has, you know, mess with me, mess with
the whole Trader Park, Invite me, invite the whole Trader Park. Okay,
so I kind of know where we are right now.
Let's be honest. Conservatives seem to be winning right now.

(18:47):
The movement's gaining ground, and we're feeling pretty good about ourselves. People,
you know, seem to be waking up a little bit.
The narrative seems to be cracking, the momentum seems to
be shifting. But you got to be careful, you know,
you're you ever had that thing where you go, hey man,
we're winning. We got this thing. You kind of rest
a little bit on your laurels, and then before you
know it, you've lost the ground that you gain. That's

(19:07):
why Blaze TV exists because in a world of noise,

Shower one weekend and the very next next weekend, hosting
at least part of the family for Easter. It was hey,

(20:58):
when you are married to the host just with the
most of your world has turned completely upside down and
a peaceful week this week would be awesome. So so
we'll we'll get that going. Uh, I know that Speedy
you you hosted a little bit, Greg you hosted uh
at least partially, but you y'alls were spread up into

(21:19):
different Yeah, every other year rotation, you know, you got
different families. And so this year we just we went
and seen Nelison Marion on Saturday. Ellis and who Marinka?
Will you come? Mumbledon Yeah, we went over. There's a
little bit of lazy Mounts. Where's they got me on
the trampoline? Life killed me? You got on the trampoline?
Do you think that's wise? Oh? I know, but we

(21:39):
had fun though, were getting after So what you did
is you went to one kid's house with your grandkids
half the grandkids on Saturday, and then you had the
other group of your grandkids and your daughter and her
husband at y'all's house on Sunday. Is that what you do? Yes? Okay,
so you kind of split it so you never had
a big crowd. No, like say, every other year, it

(22:01):
rotates around. How how much do you get hit on
we're hosting you if it's only one of the kids in
their family? Is there much? Is it?

Speaker 7 (22:08):
Lee?

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Get as much? Been out of shape on that? Not
not as bad a b getting the house ready? Oh
my goodness, you're right, no, no, it was it was.
It was not that bad. Oh my goodness. Because when
you do have a big event, like I say, the
prep oh yeah on your wife, Oh my goodness.

Speaker 3 (22:23):
Yeah, And I know we all love to like plan
things out. Ours just kind of it was. It was
just like a whirl wind.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
It just happened.

Speaker 3 (22:32):
I mean, like because JC originally wasn't going to be
able to come home, all of a sudden, now here
he comes, you know, Oh, Terry's parents, you know, came over.
Reese got off work and he decided to come home.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
And and it went from it was just going to
be the two of us to.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Where late Saturday night, all of a sudden, it just
starts turning into everything. We're going and getting to the
grocery store because nothing's open on Sunday, sure, grabbing stuff.

Speaker 1 (22:57):
It was.

Speaker 3 (22:58):
It was mania so early early Easter morning, I had
a punch list of you got this, you got this,
you got this, you got this. Not a perfect house,
but hey it needs to be clean guy. Oh yeah,
that was because it turned into something we weren't planning on,
which I mean, that's just that seems to be our
world anyway, chaos when you got a big family. But

(23:20):
we just adapted and made it happen, but ended up
being a delicious meal.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
All right, I'm like to recover from the Christmas thing,
you know, oh gosh, oh yeah, I mean you worked
on that from gosh, I think since the summer you worked.
Greg hosted the entire family on Christmas. Even that's our
that's our biggie. Yeah. I mean when you host that,
that's the biggie Burgess Field. Oh yeah, the uh. At

(23:45):
one time, I actually was at the home improvement store
again behind the leaf rate.

Speaker 3 (23:51):
Okay, I saw you post this like you had got
like you had done something, and I love how you
finished it.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
I'm I'm getting a leaf right so for Sherry to use,
and you're just now getting a leaf raak after all
these years. Well why are y'all.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Calling it a leaf rate?

Speaker 1 (24:06):
That's what he called it. Well, it's different. You know
that big plastic one, you know, you got the one
that has the wider teeth and they're more sturdy teeth
for like raking, that's when they work. And then you
have the ones where everything's closer together, and it's just
it's for leaves. It's a leaf right in between them. Big.

Speaker 2 (24:23):
To me, it's like hot water heater. You know, you're not,
it's it's just say a rake.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
There's two different kinds of rakes. You may not be
his handy as me.

Speaker 2 (24:31):
Hey, there's fifteen types of rakes. According to this adler.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
He had a video of him holding a rake over
his shoulder like it's a baseball bat.

Speaker 2 (24:39):
So that's like like landscape rate.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Hey, like he had done something that's a leaf wrek
had the big plastic versions.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
Correct. I didn't get that. That's what heavy duty these
work better. I know you've been going to loads a lot.
I'm coming kind of a regular there now. Yeah, that's
a good one there. They know me starting starting.

Speaker 3 (24:58):
To get a little do you think do you think
the uh, the blue aprons when they see you walk in,
they go, oh.

Speaker 1 (25:05):
He's gonna ask stupid questions again. He's back, y'all. He's back, y'all.
Seen all the all the people instagram posting, you've seen
all the funny comedy bits. Honestly, at these home improvement stores,
I probably know as much as most of them. No,
I'm talking about the people who are helping her anymore.

Speaker 2 (25:27):
They don't even know where the stuff in the store is.
I'm not I'm not. But if you don't know where
the stuff is in the store. You probably don't know
about the stuff in the store. I'm not trying to
be rude, but that is I go to places almost
at least once a week and nobody knows anything. I'm sorry.
I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
By the way, every now, how about the one person
where you realize, hey, he does know.

Speaker 2 (25:51):
Thank god, ed my gosh, Yes, okay, he's the one guy.

Speaker 1 (25:56):
Yes, it seems it seems to me the customer service
booth people should know more. Everybody should know more. If
you got that apron on it says customer service, that means,
you know, for service people, you would think they would
really know, and they seem just genuinely bothered. They just
wanted if you're returning something, they want to handle that.
Uh So, anyway, crunch the numbers. I'm starting to hang

(26:17):
out down there a little more, pick a few items.
I saw that posure for that rake, and I'm like,
he's got him something. You went and got a rake.
You know, we finally had the We did have to
have the water heat replace. Couldn't you didn't do that,
couldn't say it?

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Well?

Speaker 1 (26:32):
I stood there and asked the guy. That was a
hilarious moment. I said, I'm right here if you need me,
And he just said that I'm good. I don't need you.
And then I even said you need me to help
you bring in the replacement in? He goes, No, it's
all part of it. When we replaced one, we're prepared to,
you know, bringing in we know how to.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
Do all that.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
We got to deal with a lot of new situation.
And I said, you feel good about that tank up there?
He said, I'm sorry that little tank hanging off of
a sudden. What is that? And that was the one
where that was that the air gets in or something? Little? Yeah, bladder, yeah,
like a bladder and he said, h. I said that.

(27:11):
I said, doesn't look doesn't look all that secure to me.
He was up. You said, so you're you're giving him
commentary while.

Speaker 2 (27:18):
Oh, that's the water heater expansion tank.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
Yeah, I said, I had to google that.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
I had to google, you.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
Know, I said, I said, you know, I've already paid
a few things around the house. I'm here if you
need me.

Speaker 2 (27:31):
The router.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
See you tightened the knob my present wren. What else
do you do? Rick?

Speaker 2 (27:37):
You tight stood there?

Speaker 1 (27:38):
I told you, I said, I'm going to get that,
uh that that wrench we got our Wi Fi working on.
I said, that's it. I said, I'm gonna get that wrench,
but pocket and stand there in case he took the
cable off. I forgot that the mode. I told him,
So you need need to let me know. I got
two box out of the course. Once he took half
a twist, he geld take it off with his hand.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Yeah, yeah, yeah with the little thing looks like a
smiley face that you tighten.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
He said, hey, change the batteries and the remote the TV.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Okay, I guess you're gonna leave out to me tightening
the door knob. Oh, that was big, And I told him,
I said, then you ain't got a rake, I said,
I just went to Load's to get a leaf rate.
You need anything, so you say leaf break every time
you stop saying that, well, there's a leafreak and there's.

Speaker 3 (28:20):
A ride, but nobody cares about this. They just want
to know if you got a rate.

Speaker 1 (28:24):
I'll tell you one thing they need. I walked in
to loads and said, where's the leaf rakes?

Speaker 3 (28:29):
Sherry cares about if it's a leaf, right, and nobody
else And the third person showed me.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Where it was.

Speaker 4 (28:34):
He was the rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
Also this Thursday, we all will make our way Lord
Willing to a historic Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama. The
American Baseball Foundation has invited us to be part of
their charity softball game starts at four pm. Speedy and
Greg will do the PA announcing. C J. The DJ
will be spinning hits, and just announced today, Edie Van

(29:03):
Adler sings the national anthem. I will play in the game,
hopefully so hopefully. No, I mean I'm talking about I'm
gonna be there. I'm gonna play. I'm just saying that, you.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
Know, It's just I shouldn't know how long you'll play.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Yeah, I'm gonna be I'm gonna give it everything I've got.

Speaker 2 (29:17):
Okay, and so to the anthem.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
Yes, so that's coming.

Speaker 2 (29:22):
Up to over sing it. Do lots of vocal runs
make Greg feel awkward?

Speaker 1 (29:26):
Please? Yeah, do a lot of run watching that last night,
the break that's uh so Adler, How did it go
with you and the kiddos? Yeah?

Speaker 2 (29:41):
Man, it was fantastic. I had a just a one
of the most productive weekends honestly of my life. Like
I got so much done. I not only did tons
of lawn stuff, I cut down so many trees, I
built a rock wall, and I worked out on Saturday.
I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
I must not have been hosting anything.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
How big a rock wall, one rock deep? But it
counts great.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
It counts me to come on over and now.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
But that's why I missed that text, by the way.
But yeah, it was. It was amazing. And in fact,
I've got one quick video to show you, guys, of.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
My it's not working out my Easter.

Speaker 2 (30:21):
No, this is from Easter here, and this is us
on our way to church, and I'm actually listening to
I'm so blessed on so many levels. Here. I am
listening to my parents' music on the radio or on
on the stereo in the car, and my two kids
in the back are singing along to it and we're

(30:44):
yes and and Aaron. Aaron recorded it for me, which
was so sweet.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
I'm just chearing up right now.

Speaker 2 (31:21):
I'm just so thankful for my life and that that
just encompasses it right there, guys. It was just an
amazing weekend. We uh, And that was in the big
van to so I'm in the big van, guys. It
doesn't get any better than that.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
By the way, watching as family watching Ezra pick his moments.

Speaker 2 (31:42):
Man, he's he's just coming to life more and more
all the time. I think I think those ear infections
he was having just really stifled his his spirit. Many
every day it's just more and more and uh, he's
he's running around picking up eggs. Terrible at it, by
the way, terrible just I mean is he runs with
his one arm up because he wanted to carry his

(32:03):
own basket. So he's running with one arm up, slipping
in pine straw, going to reach down to get the egg.
All his other eggs fall out. He doesn't even know it,
you know. But he's so funny.

Speaker 1 (32:14):
Man.

Speaker 2 (32:14):
I'm like, are you an egg man? Are you a
biggie boy egg man? And he's like, I'm an egg boy,
I'm an egg boy. And I'm like, are you a
biggie boy egg boy? And then he figures out that
you're just getting him to say funny stuff, So then
he'll kind of just stop and look at and you
be like, all right, see, I know what you're doing now,
and we're.

Speaker 1 (32:33):
When they realize it, and we're when they realize what
you're doing. I've become a spectacle shut down.

Speaker 2 (32:39):
You church was difficult as usual, you know that he
was Ezra was in a mood all day on Easter.
You know when they wake up and they're just ill,
and they're just like, oh, so everything is going to
set you off. So I walked out of the church
service four times with Ezra, you know, maybe five times?

Speaker 1 (32:57):
What time did which one?

Speaker 2 (33:00):
It was a ten thirty, which is great, easy to
get to. And then we all rolled to uh after,
you know, leaving church service five times with egg Boy
with the Eggman, yacky boy, egg Boy, I'm a peaky egg.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
I'll tell you what egg Boy's not gonna do is
sit here through the service.

Speaker 2 (33:16):
No, no, no, it was one of those ones where
you know, people ask you about it after the service.

Speaker 1 (33:22):
Oh no really no, yeah, all right, having a tough day.

Speaker 2 (33:27):
That little man was that Ruby?

Speaker 4 (33:29):
No, that was Ezra.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
You know, like people are asked because they everybody in
the whole room heard it, you know. But it's fine,
it's fine. I almost lost, you know, temper.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
But yeah, you get not on Easter.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Not on Easter. It's Easter when you're wearing pastels. If
you get upset with people, it just looks silly, right,
you know.

Speaker 1 (33:47):
Sunday is a celebration. If you want to get a
little upset on Friday, you can, because that was kind
of a tough day. Yeah, right, But Sunday it's all celebration.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
And then we headed out to we we went and
caught a buffet that was you can eat buffet. Yes,
Ezra just crumbled biscuits for like thirty minutes, and I
need to apologize to the restaurant we went to. Actually,
in fact, that was brutal. Let's see what else. And
then we went to my parents. That where the barnet

(34:16):
Shady Lane, which is where my parents perfect live and
run the wedding venue there. And it's just egg paradise.
It's right, perfect, it's just a pasture. That's all right,
let's go. Oh, we can eat hide them on the
outdoor wedding venue steps. Oh you missed the golden egg
on the steps, kiddos. I saw a tweet that said
Dad's love saying I can see three eggs from where

(34:37):
I'm standing. We love doing that, you know. But it
was great just watching the kids have fun. We got
we had the cousins around, we had the grandparents around,
and it's just man, it's just it was just a
beautiful weekend. I'm just so thankful and blessed for my life.
And it really hit me when you are living right
with God and in Christ, the gratitude you can have

(35:00):
for your life, that doesn't exist if you're not living
right with God. You can't be thankful in such a huge,
vast way for everything that you have, everything good that
you have. You can't be thankful for in a in
a right way if you're not living right with God.
For some reason, that really hit me this weekend. But man,
it was just such a beautiful, great weekend.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Man.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Absolutely, well, I know you were thinking about that when
egg Boy had to get out of the service again.
But I did see Aaron put out a picture of
the family and you were holding Ezra and you could
tell he was ready to go.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
And I was like, wow, they captured the moment. Look
at him, they're standing there together.

Speaker 2 (35:39):
We got it, though, we nailed it. Yeah, he was
walking to the car from church.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
Hey, can I get a picture and raising three boys.

Speaker 8 (35:46):
I know that.

Speaker 1 (35:47):
I know how you were holding him. I know that hole.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
You know it.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
It is right there. It's just hanging on buddy, ready
to go. He is so ready to go. But you know, honestly,
and I understand, I do completely. And it's good to
get your family and teach them how to go to
a worship service and be there with the adults. I
got all that. But and I understand that the people
who do children's church need need time off and they

(36:12):
need to be able to have Easter with their families.
I get all that, but let's just get real. Especially
a little boy, a church service is a big ask.
For a two year old little boy, that's a big ask.
I mean, you know, you're like, you know, because you're
supposed to sit still, you're supposed to be quiet for
at least an hour and fifteen minutes usually. Yeah, and

(36:35):
you know, and I can't imagine black church, oh, I mean,
because you know, white church will wrap up relatively quick.
Now I've noticed that white church is starting to have
longer services. There was a time when white church will
get you out there an hour on the nose, hour
on the dots. The white church is starting to drift
to you won fifteens, you won twenties now and now

(36:55):
again there that's still not black church. When really you
go to a service and you just don't know, right,
eat a big breakfast. But yeah, that's but think about
two years old little boy, sit still for an hour
and fifteen minutes and don't make noise.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Here's the second picture we took. He thinks it's funny
to show his belly.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Now she does.

Speaker 2 (37:15):
There's nothing funny about showing your belly. Hey, yes there is.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
I about to say, actually there is. I notice you're
rocking some new Adidas too.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Oh yeah, yeah, he brought him out. You're the Kicks guy.
You're the Kicks guy.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
I saw it. I saw it. Greg. That's Chris Adler's
Sunday best.

Speaker 2 (37:32):
That is that.

Speaker 1 (37:33):
That's the best he can do. That's that's him dressing
up for.

Speaker 2 (37:37):
Easter, some new tennis shoes on rocking some kids those are.

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Somewhat new geens.

Speaker 2 (37:43):
Yeah, I forgot how red faced I was as a child,
and my kids get it, honest, the redness on the
faces of those kids. So they're running hard, hard, real hard.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
They can't believe that everybody's encouraging them to eat more candy. Yes,
those days are rare.

Speaker 2 (38:02):
As we went to sleep and just said, I got eggs.

Speaker 8 (38:06):
I got egg This is the Rick Burgess Show, Speedy,
you went to the music city this weekend, hadn't been
to Nashville, and Nashville hadn't been to Nashville in a while.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
You've got some memories of Nashville when you were working
with the Titans and we were all going there. Of course,
one incident that will forever be and the lore of
the Rick and Bubba Greatest Hits. By the way, episode
fourteen came out on that podcast this weekend. If you
want to go back and relive some of the greatest
moments in Rick and Bubba history, thirty one years worth,

(38:43):
it's all on a Best of Podcasts now. Episode fourteen
dropped Saturday. Get that wherever you get podcasts, you know, you.

Speaker 3 (38:51):
Know how when you're going through Atlanta, Greg, that's his city.
He points out, this is this and here we found
out out it. He can really point out the landmarks.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
That's his town.

Speaker 7 (39:01):
It is.

Speaker 3 (39:02):
He's gone through it a lot, apparently Nashville's mind because
I can point out, you know, this is the hotel
I stayed at. Remember when I got the stomach bart Yep.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
That's it.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
I just decided I was going to get a hotel
on the way home versus fight smart. This is the
exit that it happened on you know, all that kind
of stuff, all the landmarks.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
It's funny.

Speaker 3 (39:22):
There's a building that looks like the Batman built the Batman.
We call it the Batman Building, and it's funny. Every
time we entered Nashville and Tyler was tiny twenty eight now,
we would claim that that Batman's on top of the
building and we, oh, look there.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
He is again, and he's like where, and he'd be like,
looking for that's it, right there, there's the Batman Building.
So we went up.

Speaker 3 (39:44):
Sadly, it wasn't a great baseball weekend. But I think
Jc's team, I think we could make a movie and
it would be a sad movie called Heartbreaking the Ninth Inning.
And because bless their heart, they've been finish. They they've
lost some heartbreakers over the last few weekends. But it
was still a great weekend just being up there. And

(40:06):
so we decided we'd go out to eat Saturday after
our Friday after the double header. You know, you wake up,
do the show, and then you got that long day.

Speaker 1 (40:15):
I mean, we don't do it.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
We're not doing hard labor here, but it's a long day.
You're looking at nine thirty ten, just going out, and
we wanted to go eat on Music City Row and
go grab some food.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
So we did.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
But we sat down and we ordered the meal and
the waiter came out and he brought the meal and everything,
and you know a lot of times they'll go, okay,
y'all need anything else, here's your food.

Speaker 1 (40:37):
And Terry asked for some rent.

Speaker 3 (40:39):
She said, yeah, do you mind if I bring have
to have some rnch And he said, oh, you want
some white girl ketchup?

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (40:47):
And she was like what.

Speaker 1 (40:50):
And he said, yeah, I'll go get you some white
girl ketchup. And he didn't say it.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Well like with an attitude, but it's like, oh, yeah,
that's what it's known for. And Jasey and j c
leaned over and said, did he just call that white
girl ketchup? And she said, I said, what did you get?
Because it was loud, there was a live Uh it
was a solo artist.

Speaker 1 (41:08):
Of course you're in Nashville. There's a solo artist. Yeah,
and uh and and so I'm like, maybe I didn't
hear that right. Did he just say white girl ketchup?
What'd you order or what do you need? She's like,
I just wanted it a little thing a ranch, that.

Speaker 2 (41:24):
White girl ketchup.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
I will tell you this, that's funny, and it's a
and and it's it's pretty funny. But I've never heard
it called that. No. I was like, white girl ketchup,
white races. So apparently white girls asked for a sight
of rant alot. Yes, apparently. So I know that ketchup
and it kind of really took us. I was like,
what did it bother you or I kind of think

(41:46):
it's funny.

Speaker 3 (41:47):
Well, no, it was kind of funny. It didn't bother us,
and so you know, So then you go. So then
you're checking into the hotel and it's Mania and there's
just her come here. You want valet blah blah, and
you trying to get there. And the way this hotel
was set up, it's like check in was on the
fifth floor.

Speaker 1 (42:04):
It was weird. That's weird.

Speaker 8 (42:06):
It was.

Speaker 3 (42:06):
It was the layout was strange, nice hotel, and so
you get there and it's dark. You wake up the
next morning and you're like, okay, let's go grab some breakfast.
And it was a real nice breakfast area that you
could look out over Nashville. And I'm sitting there eating
it and I look and I'm like, wait a minute,
that's the that's the tower I climbed.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
Oh yeah, it was right outside the hotel window. Probably
one of the most dangerous things you ever did, ever ever.
That was crazy missed up, I really did.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
And it's still old, rusty thing, and I can't believe
this is the picture I took outside the breakfast window.

Speaker 1 (42:40):
And there it is. And I haven't told Terry.

Speaker 3 (42:42):
I said, uh, honey, that there's the building that you
go up to the roof and you can get to.
I mean that's we actually had listeners go to the
roof and was talking me down because I froze up.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
Oh yeah, that was bad. Oh yeah, I mean, but
that's right outside the window.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
I'm not cool.

Speaker 1 (42:58):
I was like, I cannot believe y'all any white for
your breakfast. I know, but I didn't that torn down
by now.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
I know.

Speaker 3 (43:07):
I can't believe it's still standing. But you can see
where they scribbled it out or spray painted over it.
That's where it had more rick and bubba.

Speaker 1 (43:13):
Oh yeah, I remember that. You could see it. Got
one of those moments where you you know, we had
you out doing things, and I thought, man, we probably
messed up on this. That's good. This one could go
horribly wrong. Yep, that's it.

Speaker 2 (43:24):
There it is right there, need more Rick and Baba, right,
that's when.

Speaker 3 (43:28):
That's when the affiliate took the last hour and started
playing music and took us off.

Speaker 1 (43:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
Yeah, one of the many brilliant. I didn't get all
the way to the top though, I did not when
you were headed Yeah, because jac.

Speaker 1 (43:40):
Was like, Dad, is that the one you climbed? I said,
I climbing. I don't know about that. Did I get
halfway up and freeze? Yes, and then I had to
come back. Did I climb it? I'm not too sure
about that. From text Nation, Yeah, my wife was told
the same thing in New Orleans white girl ketchup. First
time I'd ever heard it referred to ranch as white
girl ketch up. Apparently that is that's a pretty not

(44:02):
I wouldn't say common, but more people than you have
heard at least I ordered her some ranch. Yeah, well
she's white, the horse she knows, and she's a girl.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
And what Terry had ordered, I mean, you know, if
you want a sauce or something, And that wasn't part
of what was brought out.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
So when she was asked do you want anything else?
Oh yeah, let me have a little ranch. You're kind
of mad about it. No, I just couldn't.

Speaker 3 (44:22):
The music was loud, person was playing, and I was like,
did he just say white girl catch up?

Speaker 1 (44:27):
That's kind of funny to me? Before you ask it
was a white waiter too, okay, but he just oh yeah,
it was almost like it was just a matter of fact.
Oh yeah, white girl catch up coming up. That's funny.
So apparently people that I said it happened to his
wife too. Yeah. And I I know, I'm looking across

(44:53):
the way and my baby brother, we're looking over here.
But and I know this, and and it's it's very
delicate what I'm about to say, very very delicate. But
I know how you are when we when things are
socially there's the secondhand embarrassment that Speedy has. But I know,
I know for you, there's things that you know that

(45:14):
probably are meant for everyone in the whole odd world
to enjoy, but to you, it's it's just a little
bit annoying. Okay, watch his face on this one, I know,
and I'm working on watch his face on this one. Okay, Okay, everybody,
everybody focused right over there, and shall I look at
you while you're saying they're just him? I want your

(45:35):
shirt on him? Now, Okay, look as you, I don't
know what it is a little bit annoying to you,
and I know it is. You may not want to
publicly say it, okay, but I know it is. I
may take the fifth when somebody. It's fine if it's natural,

(45:55):
but when people, I think it's automatic. If you say
to one of your brothers and sisters that he has risen,
that you're supposed to answer he has risen. Indeed, I
responded that what I did? I know you.

Speaker 3 (46:10):
I did say I'll make fun of my tags. No, no, no, no, no,
at least I replied, he hadn't replied yet what what what?

Speaker 1 (46:18):
What I'm saying?

Speaker 2 (46:18):
You didn't see that I did late that.

Speaker 1 (46:21):
That following that that I must automatically say he has risen. Indeed,
that that that bothered you feel a little obligated. And
then that kind of waters it down a little bit, right,
It feels it feels a little like you know, and
of course I'm not even sure the thing. I'm not
sure when this indeed thing started, but I mean, you're
just I'm not going to tell you what's another version.

(46:43):
But no, I know what you're just doubling up, going yes,
that's right. I mean, like you agree. Is what you're
saying is that you're doubling down, doubling what I'm saying.
You what about saying something like hallelujah amen. Yeah. But
but I'm just saying some people that I've seen that
when something but you know, it becomes automatic. I know
that that the gregs Greg is bothered by stuff like

(47:06):
not bothered that something becomes kind of the road. And no,
I don't mean you're bothered by the sentiment. I'm saying
it's a little expected. And you know, you know he's
I got another one, but I'm not gonna say it.

Speaker 2 (47:18):
Sure, come on with it.

Speaker 1 (47:20):
I'm not right, but nothing because I can't explain am
I wrong about that? I can't explain what I mean.
I'm not anti at all. No, And this other one,
I got another phrase. It's the same, it's the same boat.
What I'm saying is people will and we've been doing
ever since we was killing the whole congregation. Go, you know,
preacher steps out, that's just a given right. And he

(47:41):
was risen, indeed, and then everywhere you go about you have.
That has to be the response.

Speaker 2 (47:45):
Help. When I was a kid and I figured out
the Indeed thing, I was so jazzed about. Indeed, first
time I figured.

Speaker 1 (47:53):
It out, and we all use indeed so much. But
I mean it just you know, it just nothing wrong
with it at all. I'm just saying, I know that
sometimes people are not going to understand what you're saying. No,
they should understand. It's not the sentiment, you know. I'm
just saying that there it means there's much to celebrate.
But I'm talking about what's right? What about what about

(48:16):
when I'm celebrating something and then something has just become
something I say now because I think I'm supposed to.
That's all I'm saying. You got to watch that.

Speaker 2 (48:25):
You're not criticizing you.

Speaker 1 (48:27):
You would like something to be a little more natural
and a little more true response as opposed to, oh,
I know what I'm supposed to say. That's all I'm saying.
I know you, I.

Speaker 7 (48:40):
Know you.

Speaker 2 (48:42):
You're not criticizing it. You're washing your hands of Greg's
criticism of it. Is that right?

Speaker 1 (48:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (48:48):
That was it.

Speaker 1 (48:48):
I wasn't criticizing I know what the other one is.
I bet I know what it is, but I'm not
going to say it. But again and again, obligation. Who's
there's that? That's all I'm saying. You know, it's a
pretty big deal. It's a pretty big deal. I mean
the I mean the resurrections huge, right, That's right. It

(49:11):
may be that. I guess I know that. For you,
it's I don't know, it's so few, it's so huge.
You don't want to turn it into campy little saying
that's yeah, I mean, but that's.

Speaker 2 (49:20):
All you think it's campy then to celebrate and no, no,
you're taking it on the Road's correct.

Speaker 1 (49:28):
Of course, some people have a problem with the word easter.
So watch that opening that door right right, The word
easter is not in the bittle thing, you know that right?
Well there is, there's some pagan stuff running alongside it.
You gotta be careful, right uh so uh but but anyways,
thought it was an egg, So I just I just
know you I'm not saying anything.

Speaker 2 (49:50):
That's the other one. Great, you gotta tell her.

Speaker 1 (49:58):
Katie Perry is reportedly now reportedly is a big word there. Yeah,
we haven't heard this from her, right, Uh, it's reporting
that people are reporting that she is regretting the Blue
Origin spaceflight as she struggles Greg Speedy Adler with the backlash.
Struggling struggling with it. Yeah, well, I mean what what.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
Miguel King even came out last week says she was
surprised from the backlash as well.

Speaker 1 (50:25):
So it looks like they're all getting a little well,
I think I think of it. You know, well, I
think a lot of the backlash could have been avoided
if they had not if they had not made the
way they acted about it, if they had kept it
in what it is, which is still a big deal.
Like we said on the show Friday. I mean, you

(50:45):
you climb aboard this this Blue Origin rocket, and you're
shot up beyond the what's that line, Adler, the Carmen line,
the Carmen line, and you do come back to Earth
and a capsule the parachute and land out in the desert.
I mean, if you just kept it there and said, hey,

(51:06):
it's great that Bezos and the crew have put together
something this incredible, and we're so thankful for the opportunity
to get to have this experience. But you took it
too far. Yeah, you started to start all this women's right.
You went the astronauts and you went, you went, and
you're up there talking about praying to the goddess, and yeah,

(51:26):
you just made it weird. I mean, if you had,
if you had handled it differently and maybe kept it
a little lighter and stopped acting like you had done
something that was beyond what actually happened, what, in my opinion,
was enough. Yeah, I mean, it's still a big deal.
Just leave it there.

Speaker 2 (51:43):
Yeah, calm down, Amelia Earhart. My goodness.

Speaker 1 (51:46):
Yeah, it's like they've done something that others have already
done it and just talk about what a thrilling ride
it was and whole what an experience. Yeah, but but
you went off trying to act like that. And I
understand the guy who called Friday, and I understand your
point you were making about maybe the raw definition of astronaut,
but the way it was presented when you use the

(52:07):
term astronaut is that you had had the same training
that you were as ready. You don't you just don't
use that word no, no matter even if you go, well,
if you get down to how the definition actually is,
they did go into space for a minute, I understand that,
but you got to be smarter than that. You never
go down that road because those of us out here
here are the word astronaut, and we think you're comparing

(52:29):
yourself to the people that do space exploration and two
that have been trapped on the space station for eight months.
You know, you should you let yourself kind of be
lumped into that group, and you should have been real clear, Hey,
we we had some training to do this, like all
those who have done it before us. We have great

(52:49):
respect for the Space program. We certainly are not in
their league, but this was a pretty cool thing for
civilians to get to do. We're grateful for the research
and that Be and his company has done. Grateful that
he let us take this opportunity while with a thrilling ride, yeah,
and it was a great thing for us to all
experience together. But you started acting like you advanced women

(53:11):
forward and it was.

Speaker 2 (53:12):
An eleven minute ride, guys, eleven minutes you went.

Speaker 1 (53:16):
You went too far with it, and that's you can't say, mankind.

Speaker 2 (53:18):
That's not eleven minutes of weightlessness, that's eleven minutes total.
That hurts.

Speaker 1 (53:23):
Yeah. Well, also, you're you're also let's face let's face it,
a lot of you aren't incredibly likable. That didn't help.
That didn't There's that this this might have been an
opportunity for you to win some people over if you
just handled a little different. Yeah, and you got all
weird about the things you were doing and the way
you acted, and it just didn't come across. It didn't

(53:44):
look good. It didn't I will say, though, you know,
we tend to forget that. William Shatner did it and
basically came back and said that we're all doomed and
it's depressing.

Speaker 2 (53:52):
You know what was beautiful and was so empty and black.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
Yeah. He he didn't exactly give us a pick bio
speech when he got out, but he didn't pretend he
was doing space exploration. Right.

Speaker 2 (54:03):
Those girls came back acting like they were Sandra Bullock
in the movie Gravity. Another thing that hurts is that
slow movie. It's really the reason that they're weightless is
because you know how you feel weightless when you're on
a roller coaster and you go to the top of
the peak or whatever. Yeah, and you kind of just
hang there for a while. That is most of the

(54:24):
reason why that why they're feeling that weightlessness, because they
went up and then they go back down just like
on a roller coaster. You kind of flowed up and sure,
three or four minutes of weightlessness and an eleven minute flight.
That's cool and it's a fun, cool thing. You know,
you'll are brave for doing that, but you're not, like
voyagers explain.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
You know, I felt pretty brave for getting on Goliath
at six Flags. Yeah, that thing's really high and you
really come down a really fast.

Speaker 2 (54:50):
But if you believe they really went up there.

Speaker 1 (54:52):
But I wasn't exactly, you know, I didn't come off
the roller coaster claiming that I'm now in the same
you know group set in of Lewis and Clark, right right,
you know, yeah, what an adventure. It's all over played.

Speaker 2 (55:06):
It was real, by the way, you don't think it
was really when I do, going up didn't look real.

Speaker 4 (55:10):
This is the Rick Burgess show.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
Speedy, you mentioned it was it Friday. I can't, of
course that everybody knows without me even saying anything. Speedy,
Greg and Adler here for another hour that Hoby's tied
to this somehow. You know, anytime you're gonna hear some
news or some fact, we got to hear that Hoby
told him something. Hoby said Uh, maybe we should start
a new segment. Hoby said, all right, yeah, but uh,

(55:43):
the the the Unbelievable feat. Yeah, I didn't know WrestleMania
was this popular. WrestleMania did they sell out two nights?

Speaker 4 (55:55):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (55:56):
And I don't know what what's the Raiders stadium call
in Vegas? All the Darth Vader or something?

Speaker 3 (56:03):
No, I mean it's it's it's I don't know how
to pronounce. How do you pronounce it? I have no idea,
but any.

Speaker 1 (56:10):
Allegiance the big giant new stadium for the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (56:16):
And he was sending me snaps throughout the entire thing
of him and his boys, which was funny.

Speaker 1 (56:23):
But the crowd, good night, the craft that many people
want to see WrestleMania steel is pro wrestling still this
big bigness. It seems like it's it's had a resurgence
as it Why bigger? Who are the who are the
new stars or they brought back old stars? What's caused
the resurgence?

Speaker 2 (56:42):
So John Cena, we all know who John.

Speaker 1 (56:44):
Ces Actually he did win the.

Speaker 2 (56:47):
Undisputed w W Championship. That was the nine too main events,
So that was the biggest thing that happened. John Cena
defeated Cody Rhodes. Who do you all know who that is?

Speaker 1 (56:58):
Okay, yeah, yeah, thank you Greg. Good to see you again.

Speaker 2 (57:02):
And so that was the biggest thing that happened. There
were some other matches. CM punk is the biggest thing
that happened on Night one was CM Punk defeated Roman
Reigns and seth Rawlins, and those are all huge stars.

Speaker 1 (57:15):
I thought c M punk was gone.

Speaker 2 (57:16):
He came back.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
You seem to be taking the lead role here on
the show. Is the current WrestleMania person? I thought that
was Hoby.

Speaker 2 (57:25):
I think that Speedy probably knows more than I do.
I think of this, I'm not really sure because of holl.

Speaker 3 (57:32):
I did see where Roman Reigns last week had come
out prior to WrestleMania and threw his support behind President
Trump and was praising him and all this kind of
stuff that was a story leading up to WrestleMania. But Hoby, Hoby,
he sent me a text when they were leaving out.
I guess it was Friday, and all the wrestlers that

(57:52):
were on the planes and how many people were going,
and how Las Vegas just turned into WrestleMania. The signage
and everything and then he sent me some pictures of
them as boy his boys. He went strictly his boys.

Speaker 1 (58:06):
Uh, but just hope. He seems to be kind. Who's
his favorite wrestling day. I don't know. I don't know,
I really don't. I don't know. Well John Zena, but
he said it was crazy.

Speaker 3 (58:21):
They were all lined up outside the stadium early in
the day and they were a little late opening it up.
He also sent me out, don't know who it was
last night that sang the anthem, but he he uh,
he sent me the anthem last night.

Speaker 1 (58:33):
Apparently it was really good. Jelly Roll was there. Jelly
Roll wrestlers again too, like now all night one he
was there. I think he actually performed. Here he's saying,
I did not know that John Cena wrestles and bluejean shorts.

Speaker 2 (58:47):
Yeah, oh yeah, georts man all day lawn.

Speaker 3 (58:50):
Now now the last one and I say the last
one when it was where the Eagles play Philadelphia Eagles.

Speaker 1 (58:56):
Uh that stadium that was was that last year when
it was out in the cold it was freezing cold.

Speaker 2 (59:02):
Yeah, I think I remember that. I was in Atlanta.
I have been to Wrestleman went in Atlanta, was literally
in the very back row in the the It wasn't
the new one, was it the new one? Anyways, the staging,
the staging and infrastructure of this event was probably the
biggest and best I've ever seen on any show ever. Yeah,

(59:23):
and that was ten fifteen years ago, right, I think.

Speaker 3 (59:27):
Well, the number of semi trucks and everything was in
the fifties. The last one, now this this one was
in the eighties.

Speaker 1 (59:35):
Who told you that, Okay, yeah, but Will and Witt
are his boys and that so that soon loves it.

Speaker 3 (59:44):
But they had to buy some some of the t
shirts and different things, and he was sending me pictures.

Speaker 1 (59:51):
They were fired up. Did you know I have never
been to one of these big wrestling events ever in
my whole life. Thursday Night Thunder when w c W,
when Tyler was little, okay at the bj c Z,
I have never been to one. Did I tell you
that one of us? I tell you the time that Garnett,
who's you know, he's he'll give himself in a situation
a minute that they go to just enjoy the culture,

(01:00:14):
and that he got busted by somebody pretending to be
in the culture and kind of he and his boys
making light of some of the culture things and got
busted and people got and you got people, people got
mad and they took it serious. Yeah, and then he
got into it. This classic I just uh direct message
you on Instagram. Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:00:34):
Twenty sixteen, February first, twenty sixteen. I surprised little Reese
by taking him to w W E rawl and is
that that might be Roman range and just walked right
by past right past us.

Speaker 1 (01:00:48):
Yes.

Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
Yeah, and and by the way, look how tiny Reese is.
Reese is tiny? Wow, and he was fired up. That's
the last time I've been to look at that. Yeah,
he comes right down.

Speaker 2 (01:00:58):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (01:00:58):
That was really cool though, just that the entire event
now some of them, some folks are in it a
little bit too much, I think, but others are just
going for the the entertainment of it.

Speaker 1 (01:01:12):
Oh that's funny. But do you so these events now
are like I'm thinking, this is much bigger than NASCAR now,
I mean much bigger crowd.

Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
Yeah, I think wrestling is bigger than that.

Speaker 1 (01:01:25):
I was just surprised how pro wrestling is now bigger
than NASCAR. Again. I mean it's it's am I wrong,
but it feels resurgence because it seems like it's kind
of fallen off a little while. You know, they had
to come out and admit because of was it taxes,
because they got forced to admit that it is a
stunt show for entertainment, sports entertainment, not a sport, because

(01:01:45):
they tried to, you know, like they were a sport
and and suddenly the government starts saying that for your sport.
Somehow helped them and somehow it helped them tax wise.
But but people know now that it is a stunt
show and an incredible stunt show. And as you said,
and Speedy the States show now compared, you're going to
a great show. I guess if you're into that. Yeah,

(01:02:06):
but but it's it's does people still think it's real?

Speaker 2 (01:02:11):
It is a stunt show, and then a stunt show,
things can go wrong, A yeah, you get hurt. Watch
this speed cold Stone Cold Steve Austin is riding around
the ring in a on a four wheeler.

Speaker 1 (01:02:21):
So he's just a pr guy. Now he's not wrestling anymore, right,
I think.

Speaker 2 (01:02:25):
I think he makes appearances. I don't think he wrestles.
I'm y'all, I'm out of the loop as well, so
I forgive me.

Speaker 1 (01:02:31):
But Ezra gets into it, then you'll be in. I'll
you'll be so in, you'll be so in.

Speaker 2 (01:02:36):
But here he is, uh driving around and he's supposed
to take a turn right here and speed. That was
not supposed to happen.

Speaker 3 (01:02:45):
Now, you know, Pat McAfee is on McAfee, Matt mcfee's
on the broadcast.

Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
Yeah, look, Jelly rowe's got to watch it. He's drifting
into Patty LeBell just a little bit. But he's current
him and Snoop negative but so but he's current now,
so that that's not as bad. He's current.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
He was on.

Speaker 1 (01:03:05):
It's the entire show, right, Yeah, but you know, yeah, yeah, yeah,
that was he's announcer. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (01:03:12):
But these WrestleManias now are just they're not like, oh,
we're going to come and do one night.

Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
They're like a weekend. They're they're like a two nights now.

Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Whenever they announced it, I think what surprised me is, yes,
the stadium was packed, but.

Speaker 1 (01:03:25):
How fast it's sold out? Like two nights, two nights
in Vegas, in Vegas, both nights.

Speaker 2 (01:03:31):
And I'm looking here. WWE is estimated to have ninety
million fans, while NASCAR is estimated to have around seventy
million fans. So yes, wrestling is bigger than NASCAR.

Speaker 1 (01:03:42):
Who we'll be back you sure being with us today?
The gang all here, Speedy, Greg Adler. We're having a
blast breaking down stories from the weekend, hearing from you
on the text shop, the email option, and before we're done,

(01:04:02):
phones as well. Okay, So Speedy, can you a couple
of things going on? Speedy back with the Stallions out
of Birmingham. That's Friday night, UFL. How the Stings do
this weekend? They beat Houston this past weekend, so they're
three and one, three and one. They carry wa home

(01:04:23):
to protective. They come back home and Speedy will be
there Friday night working the place into a frenzy. Well,
you've got an active week, your hot men. Thursday night
for the softball game, Friday night for the Stallions. I mean,
you got a lot going on, friend, I have a
lot happening by friend, Speedy, can you please try to
be happy for this family. It's what you got. It's
going to be very difficult for you. I'll work on

(01:04:45):
it all right, And let's just go ahead and get
a channel Greg and be nice. Let's just get this.
No wait, Hey, most friends, most friendly listen, just see
if you can do this? Okay, because we can't pick
and choose our friendliness. Uh huh Okay, I'm going to
say two words. Oh I'm not real words, just kind
of a saying old miss. Okay in your mindset that

(01:05:05):
you can be happy for people at old miss?

Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
Can you?

Speaker 1 (01:05:08):
Yeah? I got this? Can you be happy for catcher
Austin Fawley? Oh, talk about the home run? He's gonna
hit a grand slam. Yeah, not just any home run,
a grand Slam. And guess who caught it in the crowd?
His mama? Really? Now, how about this? Is that a
beer she was holding and here we go, here we goes?
Oh no, that's her phone started, So this is a

(01:05:30):
cool moment. Can you be happy for them? It hits
and she catches it.

Speaker 3 (01:05:37):
I'm gonna say she uh, she hits the ground and
she runs and catches it and she is holding something.
But she's video and her sons, which is really cool.

Speaker 1 (01:05:51):
It's gonna be a grand Salabi, I say her mama,
that's her. I didn't think she would pick a super
bullet them choppers, that's grand. I worked so hard to

(01:06:13):
set up this nice moment for the folly. It was
a nice moment that her son, Sam, please understand, this
is instead, this is deep, this is deep.

Speaker 2 (01:06:31):
A grand slam.

Speaker 3 (01:06:32):
The first time I saw it, the first time I
saw her, she was holding something.

Speaker 1 (01:06:36):
I thought it was honestly, I did well.

Speaker 3 (01:06:40):
They always their tradition is if a home run, you
throw your beer up in the air and it just
rains down on you. But that wasn't in right field.
That it went to left deep center, left left center
kind of.

Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
It was a no doubter. Are they playing in Oxford?

Speaker 3 (01:06:52):
Yes, no, No, they're in South Carolina. I'm sorry, there
you go, so Carol, Okay, he got I didn't pay
attention to the field.

Speaker 1 (01:07:01):
Okay, looks like he tried to. He tried to throw
a curve and it just didn't. It just didn't. It didn't. Wait,
was that her I'm trying to find.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
Her going she's in the Okay, so she's in the
rest makes sense. Now.

Speaker 3 (01:07:10):
I wasn't paying attention at all to the field there
in South Carolina?

Speaker 1 (01:07:14):
Right there, Greg, Greg, Greg, Yeah, she's running at it.
Such a good I'll tell you. She called it. She
called it. That's that's awesome. Greg did you seem back, man. Yeah,

(01:07:37):
she was excited for her.

Speaker 2 (01:07:38):
She was she was very sad and she caught it.

Speaker 1 (01:07:41):
Greg.

Speaker 2 (01:07:42):
I wish she cared about family.

Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
So she was cared about family.

Speaker 3 (01:07:49):
Did you see guy in white T shirt and an
adult man running after a home run that bothers me?

Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
Yeah, like you're trying to get it and you're an
adult man. Let the kids go take it from the friend. Yeah,
a kid like he's running over, I'm going to get it. Well,
it could be that maybe he's.

Speaker 1 (01:08:08):
Another parent and he was trying to help her, right
or something, but he didn't look like what if he's
trying to make make dreams come true? Yeah, it could
could be. I'm not sure though. The she get in there,

(01:08:28):
Oh no, she's good. Yeah, she does have something. She's good.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
And then there was that other baseball clip from the weekend.

Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
Yeah, we got the other one. Now this one one,
so Speedy's off the hood now he can actually be happy. No,
I mean that that was I mean that's sothing. The
next one that's a cold parent moment. Your video and
your kid hit and he hits a grand slam.

Speaker 2 (01:08:45):
That's it, and then you get the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:08:48):
Yeah yeah, I mean that's she called her a grand slam.
That's I know it's in the first inning. That still
a bit, that's that's one that she remember if he
wins the game with the grand slam and she gets
the ball even big. Yeah, they're already blowing out South
Carolin on that. Yeah, I mean it's can you say,
good for y'all? Good for them? I'm happy for that. Yeah,
good for that family.

Speaker 3 (01:09:09):
That's a cool moment that you'll never forget this and
for old and for the program, and probably not so
much for the program, because they do that a lot.
I mean, they're really good. Hotty toddy, gosh, your mighty,
Who the heck are we?

Speaker 1 (01:09:21):
All right? Let's go to Major League Baseball, where the
question that has always been a yes for men everywhere
is someone breaking win always funny, and the answers, yes,
it is, this is funny, and the answer is always yes.
I know women it's funny. A lot some women, well
a lot of women don't understand this. But is that
we said before? We need to reverse that. When women say,

(01:09:43):
why do y'all think that's funny, what we should say
men to them is no, no. The much bigger question
is why don't you think that's funny, because breaking win
is always funny. Yes, And unless you're trapped in a
vehicle and somebody won't roll the window down, here we go,
that's not fun. So this is a postgame interview and
somebody bark. Now he's in front of the locker. He's
in the locker room.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Okay, San Francisco Giants picture Logan Webb and someone in
the distance gives.

Speaker 9 (01:10:09):
It a go.

Speaker 2 (01:10:10):
You know, I love his buddy. You know it's just
his buddy, Greg so much.

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Greg. I would do this to all y'all. You've been interviewed,
every one of you above Garner.

Speaker 4 (01:10:23):
At least watches. I'm sorry, sorry. Sports are always funny.

Speaker 1 (01:10:40):
Struggling to keep it together anytime in the list. Let's
let's sport, let's apport.

Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
And I think that's a chair move right before this
is This is Greg during one of your live spots.

Speaker 1 (01:10:52):
It is Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:10:53):
The first sound of the second above Gardner, not that again,
back it up.

Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
The chair squeak almost almost takes your mind. For at
least four He didn't even look.

Speaker 2 (01:11:15):
He looks, he.

Speaker 6 (01:11:26):
Looks over the reporter. Firts are always funny.

Speaker 1 (01:11:33):
Well, you know I would so fast. I would do
so much interview, so you have to feel about getting in,
you know.

Speaker 2 (01:11:48):
I love you had to find.

Speaker 3 (01:11:51):
Looty not to laugh. He's trying so hard not to laugh.
He's just but I love he couldn't ignore it. He
had all right, I see you got.

Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
Alright. All right, Hey, let me tell you something. Guys,
I'll stop. Come on, now, come on, I'm what I'm
talking about this text Nation, text Nation. I'm gonna say,
text Nation, be a little more reverend, be a little
more reverend. Just you don't have to be all in,
but a little bit of just decency would be good.

(01:12:27):
Concerning the pope's death, Yeah, there's no putting grades face
on the pope. That is all that is inappropriate to
just a little bit. Okay, you don't have to go
all in, but I mean, just just a little bit
of all right, we'll be back.

Speaker 2 (01:12:45):
I mean, besides walking behind your buddy, getting interviewed with
your shirt off, and the news local news, the barking
off is funny, so good. Can we just start doing
that on this show and just making a thing, just
making a thing.

Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
You know, yeah, haven't we even without an official We'll
be right back. More of the Rick Burgess show coming
up right after this. I was like, this headline cannot
be true. Okay, now you got me in the entertainment world, Greg,

(01:13:22):
I'm going to give you three guesses and if you
already know, just say Rick, I'm sorry, we know that,
and we'll jump right into the discussion. Do you have
any idea who Billy Ray Cyrus is dating right now?
I do not. Yeah, he was with fire Rows. They
had had a busting.

Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
Up fire ros Why do you know her name?

Speaker 1 (01:13:41):
I don't because it was weird, that's true. You think
you think a person like him would ever forget fire Ross,
bitter Ray and fire ROAs. How you forget that?

Speaker 2 (01:13:52):
Is that her given name?

Speaker 1 (01:13:53):
Yeah? Probably yeah, fire ROAs. So so he's no longer
with fire Rosa. Okay, now, if we're all concerned, and
we're not, We're not Britney Spears, Justin Bieber concerned about
Billy ray Cyrus, but we don't feel great about it.
Remember when he was trying to play live that day.
That's that's what I'm exactly what I talking Greg. He filed,

(01:14:17):
as you said, for divorce from Australian singer Fire Rows. Yeah,
and I hated to see them break up. That was
almost a year ago. They made a great couple, Yes
they did. Billy Ray's looking good, David, that's the looky yea.
All right, So based on all this did you talk about?
This is just a I'm giving you three guesses. You
no way you get it? Okay, I'm gonna tell you

(01:14:38):
had time. There's no way you get it because you're
gonna be shocked when I tell you because I was Billy.
This is Billy Ray, the current Billy Ray, Cyrus long
hair beard all that is currently dating and has a
picture with them cuddling up over Easter weekend. Who do
you think it is? No way, lady, that's a great guess. No,

(01:14:58):
but her mic didn't work really at was it? Yeah?
She was? Okay? I didn't she like hanging from the
Salem when it quit and they were trying to get
her another one? Yeah, uh no, that's a wrong answer.
Two more guests. I think I could give you one hundred.
Uh let me think it was kind of Jennifer Aniston. Again,

(01:15:19):
not bad, Greg, but no, because she hops around because
you do know, I'm telling you it's outrageous. So you're
going with that. I'm trying to the lady guy guy
may not have been outrageous enough, but just Martrus Stewart,
Now that's let me tell you that that's a great no.
But it's a great guest. Oh yeah, but it's weird

(01:15:39):
in a different way. Are you ready for this? Elizabeth Hurley?
How how that's all? No? Rick that they're they're joking. Now.
She may be nuts and all, but they do not
look like they would go together. Elizabeth Hurley and Billy

(01:16:00):
ray Cyrus announced relationship in a Happy Easter post. Elizabeth
Hurley and Billy ray Cyrus. Greg that wow, how about
that saying that's an upgrade for fire RoHS. Yeah, I
think it is, and actually is probably the same age, right,

(01:16:21):
you know, he's not used to that. But the fact
that he was in the world of fire RoHS and
he's come out of that world and got in this world.
I never know, how is that even possible? I know not,
I know they're all older, but still.

Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
She's fifty nine, he's sixty three.

Speaker 1 (01:16:33):
I mean, I'm telling you, just from a different worlds. Yeah,
I mean a completely different look instead of you know,
the overcourt.

Speaker 2 (01:16:39):
Now, he still got his.

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
Look great, but a whole different world. I mean, just
a completely different worlds like British or something. Yes, chapterists
and all this stuff, and there's Billy Ray and he
so in this new look he's got right, I wish
so bad and I don't know where to go to
find it. But someone on Instagram or something it was
Billy Ray back in the Blazing Mullet days and he's

(01:17:01):
doing that quick feet dancing. I know, Greg, greatest thing ever,
Greg Rick. I couldn't quit watching it. All right, there's
unbelieve this is what I mean. Right in the middle
of when when a break he came out. Everybody's shocked,
they said. One of the comments on the post was
from Melissa Gilbert, who wrote, wait what so I I

(01:17:25):
don't know. Yeah, that just they just don't go together.
They do not so I don't. I don't said they've
never been around each other except that they both were
on Dancing with the Stars, but they were it was
like five years apart. They went on there together. That's
the closest they've ever come to be in the same
place at the same thing. I mean, I don't, I don't,

(01:17:50):
I don't. I don't know what to say to it.
Could I give you a hundred guesses, especially the way
he looks and all. Now you know this look he's got.
I didn't know he was that it up. I know,
Oh he's tagged up. He's even got his knuckles, but
he's got them nasty looking dreadlock things. Yeah, it's we
saw how Grady did in that performance. He was trying
to do, so he's obviously in a great play. Yeah,

(01:18:13):
I didn't. I didn't think he said how about that?
I mean, this is one of those things where you
know who you hang around in the moment I watched this.
My reaction was probably the same as most people. I
upgraded Billy Ray Cyrus and I downgraded Elizabeth Hurley.

Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
There you go.

Speaker 1 (01:18:31):
Yeah, yeah, I thought I thought he must have his
act the other more than I thought. And I thought,
what's happened to her? Yeah something, she must be losing
her mind. Yeah, speaking of Justin Bieber, Speaking of Justin Bieber,
Video four, this is the Coachella thing that you're talking
about where Lady got guys mic did not work? Yeah,
yeah said that. Justin Bieber was seen there again and
it and it did not look good. We saw some

(01:18:54):
footage of him earlier. Yes, that might be his friend
he's not.

Speaker 2 (01:18:57):
He's just openly smoking pot it looks like but also
like messing with some stuff in his hands, and it
just looks out of it and sickly and thin.

Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
And uh, I thought he had more tattoos than dead eyed?
Is that him?

Speaker 2 (01:19:11):
Yeah, you just can't. I think you just can't see him.
But yeah, his his whole back is cover. He's got
all owl on his back.

Speaker 1 (01:19:16):
His friend, somebody his friend, and just grab him up
and say we're going somewhere.

Speaker 2 (01:19:21):
Because posture looks worse than mine.

Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
Like, who can be his friend and let him do that?

Speaker 2 (01:19:28):
Well, when you're that big of a celebrity, nobody can
tell Moody whether they're not your friend.

Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
Well, no, they just want to hang on for the
big party. What is the state of him as an
entertainer right now? I mean before all this, I mean
was he was? He still big? He's still huge.

Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
I think he could sell out stadiums, no problem right
now if he could get his act together. Absolutely, Yes,
Well I've got a new baby, made you scream. He
did a Justice World tour in twenty twenty two, but
it was selling well, but it ended prematurely due to
health issues, and then he got that Ramsey Hunt syndrome

(01:20:03):
and in twenty twenty three, which was a kind of
a almost like a paralysis on part of his side
of his face. Y'all remember that? Oh yeah, I remember
that a lot, which a lot of people had.

Speaker 1 (01:20:15):
You know, yeah, I never remember that.

Speaker 2 (01:20:16):
It's like the rates of that really skyrocketed really after
twenty twenty one. Twenty There weird happened after that. Strange
but yeah, no, that's that was selling well from what I.

Speaker 1 (01:20:27):
Know, if you had to if you had to make
a pick right now on which of the two, because
apparently it b the Ray Cyrus is not in the
league of Bieber and Britney Spears. I mean, if you
can get a cuddle up picture by an old fence
in Cowboy Hats with Elizabeth Hurley, you're not as bad
off as you know. No, no, okay, you're right. So
the question is this, do you think we're gonna hear

(01:20:51):
horrible news next? And you know what I mean by
horrible news? Justin Bieber or Britney Spears, which one is
the furthest gone right now?

Speaker 2 (01:21:01):
Well, his fears seems more permanent and mental mental.

Speaker 1 (01:21:06):
Okay, yeah, I was gonna say that he looks like
the worst physically right now, but like you say, he
some rehab might could help him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:21:16):
He seems like he's dealing with substance and obviously mental
stuff because that all goes along with it. But he
seems like he's really got honestly, some footage of him
at some rapper named Sexy Red's he was doing that
big locked in smile or just and it's.

Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
It looksnding your teeth.

Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
It looked like he was on some kind of honestly
a crack or something. That's very sad.

Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
So yeah, you're saying he might could get cleaned up,
but Brittany, maybe the damage is as irreversible at this point.
You know, that's a terrible thing to say. But you know,
they all tried to make her dad this big villain
because he was controlling her money. But now I think
we kind of see why he was. Yeah, we're trying
to protect her from herself.

Speaker 2 (01:21:56):
So so the free Brittany protests weren't like they hadn't
really checked all that out. That's a weird protests.

Speaker 4 (01:22:02):
Never do that.

Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
Who does that? They's always taking that never happens, all right,
So a lot out there. We'll start next hour. If
you're staying with us with unscreen phone calls, So a
day to eight the number six big box. A lot
to comment on when the show continues.

Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:22:26):
A couple of other things. What we're gonna do about
Yetti YETI the monster, the coster, the cooler, the overpriced
coolers and cups?

Speaker 2 (01:22:35):
Ye?

Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
Wow, heavy, so proud of them. They're heavy.

Speaker 4 (01:22:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:22:39):
Remember when they turned down a conservative group and said
they wouldn't do anything with them anymore. But because they
were getting out, getting out of the political they didn't
do anything political. Remember that? Yes, Well, then somebody putting
their logo on their cup or something at a conference.
They wanted to use the Yetti cups at their conference,
remember that? And then and they with conservative conservative messaging

(01:23:03):
and they said, hey, we're just not getting into any
more of that at all. But then they turned around
and they made cups for a progression group. Did they say, I,
now don't try to play games they need? Is this
is this true or can we support this?

Speaker 10 (01:23:18):
Well?

Speaker 2 (01:23:18):
That company tested it evidently, Okay, And uh so yeah,
here's a little this Podcastice Owen's doing this. This is
the comments section. Okay from courtesy of.

Speaker 10 (01:23:29):
The comments send this year, when they placed an order
that said again conservative women. YETI responded after accepting the order,
they responded again and said, actually, we've canceled your order. Sorry,
it's his political language.

Speaker 1 (01:23:39):
We don't do that. We can't do that.

Speaker 10 (01:23:40):
That breaks our policies. So the organization saw that and thought, hmm,
I wonder if they would apply that same logic if
it said something liberal or progressive on it. So they
tested the theory this week and they ordered something that
said progressive.

Speaker 2 (01:23:53):
On it, and the order went through. Well would you
look at that?

Speaker 1 (01:23:57):
Okay, listen to this.

Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
Okay, there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:23:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:24:00):
So they tested their policy and it just depends on
what cleaning is. Okay, Well, yet he just needs to
be honest and say we find some messaging controversial and
other messages we don't. You know, other messaging we don't.
It's it's almost like like we were talking about in
the break about shooters. I thought, as a society, we

(01:24:23):
all agreed that shooters that kill people in cold blood
that we don't. We don't like that. We ad that's
that's bad, bad behavior, all bad. But I've noticed that
if you're a shooter, and it looks like that you
were radicalized by something conservative. We get all the headlines,
all the information. Uh, you know, any any kind of
thing that you've written. What do they call when they
write these manifesto within twenty four to forty eight hours, Yeah,

(01:24:47):
it's out. Oh yeah. Now, if you write a manifesto
that comes from a left linging narrative, suddenly you disappear
off off the landscape. You're not as evil a shooter
as a shooter that might have been radicalized on their
conservative views. And of course I've said, really, it's all
just evil no matter what they say. The bottom line
is it's all debonic. But but that's not the game

(01:25:08):
we're playing now. I've just noticed that, you know, if
if you're a certain ethnicity and you kill people, you're
treated differently. If you have political views that are different,
you have any faith commitments that are different, we're reporting
on these shooters differently. When I think it'd be wise
in our society if we'd all get together and say
we don't like people that shoot people for no parent reason,

(01:25:29):
and comp like, no, yeah, all bad they.

Speaker 2 (01:25:33):
Make they made. They've made a hero out of this
Luigi guy that killed that health insurance ceo on the streets.
You know, that's not that's that's not a world we
want to live in where where people are getting murdered
like that, that is that's horrible. That's a horrible world.

Speaker 1 (01:25:45):
To live in. Yeah, and we and we also saw
this weird thing about this track meat stabbing it again.
It just gets weirder, that sad story. It gets weirder
by the day telling you and Rose where we're at
we're talking about you know, now, I do think, well,

(01:26:05):
let's talk about what's factual. What's factual is that somebody
started to go fundme page. Now there have been some
things reported on the family and their use of that
money that I don't think is accurate. That is inaccurate.
So you got to be truthful. But the truthful stuff
is still enough that we keep trying to find some
way in a court will have to decide that that. Well,

(01:26:28):
I don't know why everybody's getting on the guy who
stabbed the guy. The guy who got stabbed had that
coming and it was, you know, because there's really I
don't know where the self defense was. Why do I
even have a weapon at the track meet? Yeah, any
guy was trying to stab me or shoot me. I
don't think even if we were in argument, I pulled
a knife out and kill him. Yeah, And now I

(01:26:48):
will give credit to the dad of the young man
who's been murdered. He is trying to be at the
hearings and the press conferences, and of course he got
you know, the lawyer made some big deal about him
being there, how that was disrespectful and how they you know,
he's taining the memory of his son, and I think
that is ridiculous. But I do give the dad credit

(01:27:11):
to that. Some people have tried to turn this into
a black white issue, and he has been real clear.
He because I'm not participating in that. Yeah, he said,
this is down to somebody who either murdered my son
and should be held accountable for it or not. What
color my son is and what color this person is
is an irrelevant irrelevant And he said, he said, I'm

(01:27:32):
not going to turn this into some kind of I'm
not being part of any white groups that are trying
to turn it into some black and white thing. And
I don't think anybody should turn it into a black
or white thing. I'm not participating in that. What I'm
trying to do is get justice for my son, no
matter what color he was, or what color the murderer
was a man or the killer. So we'll see how
that all turns out. But it really has been a strange.

(01:27:55):
You know, we're just not living in that world anymore
where we all kind of go, well, we all agree
with this, we all think that it's now too well,
we only think this was really really bad if everything
about it is the way.

Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
We want it, right.

Speaker 1 (01:28:10):
I think the act itself is usually something we all
would would find repulsive and we won't answers for it.
You know. It's kind of like, yeah, you heard about
that shooter, don't you. Terrible, terrible, terrible, Well you heard that,
but it was actually somebody that was like radicalized with
all these woke leftist views and they've been told to
go out and kill people that disagree with them. Oh really, Okay,

(01:28:31):
well I'm not as concerned about that. Then well that's bad.
But then you turn around, say, you know they had
some kind of conservative Donald Trump manifesto, Well, that person
needs to be hung out. I mean you can't, and
it can't be the other way either, Yeah, it has
to be. Hey, this kind of behavior is not accepted
by anybody.

Speaker 2 (01:28:51):
Right, Yeah, so the track meet stabbing, it's just like
two lives were work completely ruined, one was completely lost,
one was completely ruined, probably two families. Absolutely, it's a
horrible story. And race shouldn't be the focus at all.

Speaker 1 (01:29:06):
No, and that's all a diversion from it all and
again and probably wait to all the investigation and everything's
done before you take a view of it at all.
How about wait on the truth. We'll be back.

Speaker 4 (01:29:17):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:29:25):
Have you have you seen this? Have you seen this
Chinese deal where they did a half marathon and the
only competitors were robots? No half? What a half marathon?
Nothing but robots? Nothing but robots. The winter finished the
half marathon in two hours and forty minutes. Wow, And

(01:29:49):
they had twenty bots racing twenty bots and they went
they went twenty one kilometers, so well, this was an
actual race and they had a finish line. Oh yeah,
and it's nothing but robots. This started to terrify every
the way it runs. This shot to terrify everybody. But
those are regular people running on outside.

Speaker 2 (01:30:09):
Who's on the outside, that's regular people watching and running
with ah, they're running with it.

Speaker 1 (01:30:13):
Okay, that got running.

Speaker 2 (01:30:14):
The robot champion was two hours and forty minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:30:16):
It's not they're not very fast, but they're running.

Speaker 2 (01:30:20):
That's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (01:30:20):
That's pretty I don't like that at all. No, I
do not he's doing why is he what is he
doing at? Or why? Why are there people with.

Speaker 2 (01:30:28):
The team that's like the robot team? And okay escorting
your robot?

Speaker 1 (01:30:32):
Oh, that one has a cramp, smash his face. I don't.
I don't like this, Greg, How are you on this?
Many robots in one place, all moving makes many robots
in one place, especially that one right there, they're all moving.

Speaker 2 (01:30:50):
Yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Don't like that at all.

Speaker 2 (01:30:54):
But seriously, I mean, under two and a half hours
for a half Mirazon is pretty good. So they're right
at almost pretty good at two hours and forty minutes
for thirteen miles.

Speaker 1 (01:31:04):
Yeah, that's is I don't know. Believe you're no shocker here.
I have no idea what a good time is in
a marathon or a half.

Speaker 2 (01:31:10):
Under two hours, it's like, really good. Under two and
a half hours is pretty good. Over over three hours
is like, all right, let's try a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:31:18):
What about in the robot category. In robot category, it's
it's really picking up different sizes to you have like
tiny ones.

Speaker 2 (01:31:26):
They have like robot children.

Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
They actually said a new announcement. If this keeps up,
robots will be able to participate in women's sports.

Speaker 2 (01:31:35):
Identify. Right.

Speaker 1 (01:31:37):
Uh, let's go to six chasing you.

Speaker 2 (01:31:40):
I said, my arms, get me that snickers. I said,
no more, no more.

Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
You can't have it. That thing's coming. Some of those
are moving faster than I want.

Speaker 2 (01:31:48):
Your wife is mine looking one? Whatever they might, you
can't have her.

Speaker 1 (01:31:52):
Yeah, yeah, no, it fail down bad for it.

Speaker 2 (01:31:56):
Yeah, you felt it's like a little child one.

Speaker 1 (01:31:59):
Yeah, what you're right. I think we've talked about this before.
I mean, these these robots coming into your life. You know,
weight Watchers has almost you know, completely gone under because
of all the shots and then they try to keep
up with the shots. What if they came out what
you're talking about, and they had the robot, the robot
watch the accountability weight watcher, the weight watcher, it watches
you don't you touch the fridge and it waits that's enough.

(01:32:22):
Macaroni tub delicious? Yeah, better up had macaroni by the way,
Sonny too. I forgot about that. Yeah, we Mama's macaroni
sherry maybe, but she used her. She used her. That's
enough tup tub? Yeah, I said, one more barpie. You're

(01:32:44):
hurting my wrists. Drop it?

Speaker 2 (01:32:47):
Yeah, that hurts.

Speaker 1 (01:32:48):
Drop it. You've had enough coffee today. That's enough caffeine.
Your heart rates alarming?

Speaker 2 (01:32:58):
You stop charging my back when I say it's time.

Speaker 1 (01:33:05):
Yes, why are you going?

Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
You know we'll shut them. Try to shut them down
and they'll like stop that.

Speaker 1 (01:33:10):
I said, hold me, you holding? What are you talking?

Speaker 3 (01:33:16):
Weird?

Speaker 4 (01:33:17):
Won't tell that?

Speaker 1 (01:33:17):
He went, weird. That's leave leave my home too much? Yeah,
you don't need that. Where have you been? I thought
you'd be home at five point thirty? Hey, man, I
don't want that. I texted my wife that I it
was traffic. You didn't text me. Somebody's gonna play this
back in twenty years and go, man's what were you

(01:33:40):
eating in your car?

Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:33:43):
I smell your breath?

Speaker 2 (01:33:46):
You smell like my loan sauce, Smell the Reese's cup.

Speaker 1 (01:33:49):
You can't hide peanut butter.

Speaker 2 (01:33:51):
You ate the children's candy.

Speaker 5 (01:33:52):
I know it from Easter, right, Gregg's been eating too
much peanuts? Swiss your breath smells like the reados. Not
you smell like mad Dog twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:34:04):
Timey alrighty, No more long necks for you looks.

Speaker 2 (01:34:10):
Because you're mowing milan doesn't mean you're allowed to.

Speaker 1 (01:34:15):
These robots are going on my specific You need a quiet.

Speaker 7 (01:34:22):
That's not a leaf rake, No, it is leaf break
is redundant hede a right, you're not as handy.

Speaker 2 (01:34:33):
As me, No, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (01:34:36):
Oh that hurts those things. They got a grip on them.
Oh yes, a little more. That thing will be blowing
every by wearing that race. And this is just they're
just trying to see if they can get through it.
Right now, what they're doing is they're sandbagging. They're playing right.
Oh yeah, yeah, they're just gauging it. Would would we
ever go to see like a football game it was
all all robots because it was not human being. Shouldn't

(01:34:58):
be doing that to the bottom. Probably, don't you last
that may happen. That's the reason why I like these
contracts still being good because if we don't, if the
money didn't stay great, human humans will stop playing.

Speaker 4 (01:35:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:35:11):
I would love to go see that battle Box show.
Remember battle Box? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:35:15):
Yeah, that was pretty good. Yeah, you would go see battle.

Speaker 2 (01:35:18):
I would go see battle Box. What's so amazing? And
they didn't do a good job of like really showing
this on TV. Is that those things are like two
hundred and fifty pounds. It's not some little like r
C car thing. And I think that I feel like
that they didn't just show that on TV like the
one with a salt. Yes, accidents and they spin and
their sparks and everything. Robots are gonna kill it in

(01:35:42):
the fine.

Speaker 1 (01:35:44):
Bottom of the hour.

Speaker 4 (01:35:45):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
Uh we we you know, we're still looking at We've
looked back a good bit on the Easter weekend Easter
egg hunts? Did y'all do an Easter egg hunt at all?
Were just with a couple of kids? How'd that work?

Speaker 2 (01:36:06):
It was?

Speaker 1 (01:36:06):
It was okay, they weren't that fired up, really not
that into it. I mean they did they went around right,
But it wouldn't it like that. You know, we take
it easy on When our parents used hide the eggs,
we couldn't hardly find them. You'd have to like dig
to find them. Well, there was always that dad move
and you you forget they didn't find it when the
dad you know, dads will put that egg inside the
tailpipe one of the cars. Can you forget about it? Yeah?

(01:36:29):
And the kids never find it. Now, I remember our
eggs were hard to find. They were very hard. They
just throw them on the ground. It was like everything else,
everything we were growing. It was hard. Now now there's
no we're afraid to be hard with anything now, which fine,
We've got a bunch of candies and can't do anything.

Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
Well, well, I think it would be hard to find
Easter egg hunts if you were visually impaired.

Speaker 1 (01:36:47):
Would you would not agree that you're definitely at a disadvantage.
Now that is a new kind of hard.

Speaker 3 (01:36:51):
It is uh and out of Orlando, the Orlando Fire
Arson and Bomb Squad hosted an inclusive Easter egg hunt
on Saturday for visionsually impaired children at the Doctor Phillips
Center in downtown Orlando. The event was inspired by first responders.
Was first responder whose daughter was visually impaired, and what
they did is they designed special Easter eggs that beat

(01:37:15):
to ensure that children with visual impairments could participate in
the holiday tradition.

Speaker 1 (01:37:21):
So they were specially.

Speaker 3 (01:37:22):
Designed beeping Easter eggs so that the children that you
know are visually impaired can can participate.

Speaker 1 (01:37:29):
I mean, the technology is cool, and couldn't you just
holler stand by the and go like here.

Speaker 2 (01:37:37):
What?

Speaker 1 (01:37:38):
But I mean you're you're basically the noise is taken
them to the egg. Well, get hot. You're getting hot, guys.
You can just what you're saying, well or just go
you know you're making a noise. I'm just saying, if
you don't have if you don't have all that high
tech beep and stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:37:55):
So I'm just.

Speaker 1 (01:37:58):
Something like that. What about just giving instruction?

Speaker 3 (01:38:01):
What about just putting it inside of an Easter egg
and letting them find it. News Channel Too did a
piece on it, and we have a little bit of
that's cool if you have this.

Speaker 1 (01:38:08):
That of Orlando almost here and.

Speaker 9 (01:38:10):
Local first responders are hosting their very own inclusive egg
hunt or eggs Exclusive egg Hunt and Bomb Squad had
a different mission this weekend. First responders created special Easter
eggs for visually impaired children to participate. One first responder
created this Easter egg scavenger hunt after his daughter, who

(01:38:32):
is visually.

Speaker 1 (01:38:35):
He started this program out with the love of this
knowledge of being a bomb tech for the ATF built
these easter eggs kind of like we do for the
bomb squad. They're made of simple lives. Is the cameraman egg?
They're not showing him completely? Don't we want to see
the guys entire face? I mean, just came out to

(01:38:58):
the Doctor Phillips Center for program that.

Speaker 9 (01:39:02):
Exclusive of he loves seeing stuff like this, Marquise like,
it's just that I love seeing the kids at easter
egg hunts anyway, Yeah, I will go ahead.

Speaker 1 (01:39:12):
Why would I Why would I make fun of that?
I don't know technology earlier that if you didn't have this,
you could do that, right, So you just you suggest
your standing by hey over here, well if you if
you don't have the technology, well, to Greg's point, I
hate to jump in and defend baby brother. How many
communities have access to a bomb squad that can make
eggs that beep on their own and put them out

(01:39:33):
in a field. Yeah, I mean you got maybe you
want to do something for the visually impaired children in
your community, but you don't have the technology to make
beeping giant eggs with people who put bombs to get
some kind of noise maker. Yeah, maybe you could just
what do you think about just an overall okay, here
we go to your right, you were you're warmer. What
about just the fame of your famous you're hot, your cold,

(01:39:55):
and then have people out there in the perimeter so
that they don't wonder anything of really cold. But you
got to have like you say, you got to have access,
they said, the bomb squad guys who come up with it.
If we if we went with just our own natural sound,
because we don't have anybody to do the wiring and
all that, and we want to help and do something.
How often do I make noise if we go with
your idea of noise? I? How often? I don't know.

(01:40:16):
It's probably constantly.

Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
Kids, let me.

Speaker 1 (01:40:19):
Get here, this is the right temple?

Speaker 4 (01:40:21):
All right?

Speaker 1 (01:40:21):
Kids's that that they're and they're ready.

Speaker 2 (01:40:24):
To go.

Speaker 1 (01:40:25):
Great? No, no, it's not a fire alarm. I'm just
ting how many times how do we just we can't
just continually do it. It's just just a little bit
of like a no. I'm just saying I want to
know the tempo, like how many times does it be?
How long is the pauses in between?

Speaker 3 (01:40:43):
Probably a little bit of like oh wow, and then
a little bit like you know, is that too. I
don't think it's that loud either. We're not scaring the kids.
It's a hunt, so they hear something like, what's that?

Speaker 1 (01:40:58):
If you're here side and I'm doing that, that's perfect
if you want to challenge if you had like with
a chirp.

Speaker 2 (01:41:03):
On the Oh, that's difficult where it's at.

Speaker 1 (01:41:08):
You don't know where it is, like upper level boy
that is wander around for an hour. Yeah, that would
to myself, that would be tough, by the way. Uh So, anyway,
so that that's a great idea, but that was inspirational
story coming. If you don't have that kind of technology, though,
you could just simply do it another way.

Speaker 2 (01:41:28):
Oh my goodness, I found it. And this is a
whole field full of beeping eggs.

Speaker 1 (01:41:32):
Okay, I think it might be a set up, but
that could almost accidentally find those.

Speaker 2 (01:41:37):
But you can tell, you can see that the beeping
eggs now have all turned into one big chime almost along.

Speaker 1 (01:41:45):
With the screaming excited kids a soft beef. You're right,
it's everywhere. Crickets everywhere, this Phoenix Easter egg hunt.

Speaker 2 (01:41:53):
Everybody knows about honey for Easter eggs, and it's really
hard if you can't see.

Speaker 3 (01:41:58):
The beep is a cue for these children at the
Foundation from blind children together using their ears.

Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
Rather than they're how they're not stepping on search and
find them and have the same experiences.

Speaker 1 (01:42:10):
I got to tell you this one kids just running
through eggs. How's he missing them? How's he missing them?
And I hate to say this is well, I'm not
going to say we don't well blind to understand, but
we make Easter eggs a little easy to find, now,
you know, even for the blond Is that what you're suggesting? No, No,
what you're saying, get it. You know, for the blind,
I get it. Do you think though, and what you

(01:42:31):
just saw do you think? Do you think do you think?
Here's what I think and I could be wrong what
I just saw. I think even the blond kids can
be pushed a little harder than that. Yeah, because there
were so many eggs. Oh yeah, you're kicking them as
you're running through.

Speaker 3 (01:42:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:42:45):
I think we could have made it a little more different.

Speaker 2 (01:42:48):
Yeah, I wish that East Egg Home was more difficult
for those blind kids. That's what I wish to you know.

Speaker 1 (01:42:52):
I'm just saying that. I think I think we're overcompensating,
and it might make them feel like that they don't
need that kind of complet We won't. We want a
little bit of a challenge too.

Speaker 3 (01:43:01):
Okay, so kens the number of eggs in half in
the visually impaired talk. Now we're going to I can
see and find them. You're saying the hiding of eggs.
We make that easy in general now and all kids,
for all ones that can see. I do remember running
around the house. I couldn't find anything.

Speaker 1 (01:43:17):
Well many years. Let's say we had fifteen eggs, we
might find twelve. Yeah, there's others we can't find because
our parents hit them so hard they forgot where they were.
Now they just throw them out in the lawn. Yeah,
yeah they are. And I do it too because I
don't want to have to, you know, put a lot
of thought in it. Can we please at least hide
the eggs? I hide a couple. You're right, you see
kids in that goes.

Speaker 2 (01:43:35):
Go get eggs out of the yard.

Speaker 1 (01:43:37):
They're laying out in the yard.

Speaker 4 (01:43:38):
