Speaker 2 (02:22):
Say hello to them. Here we go, Howdy, howdy.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
We have We have so much to unpack today. Uh
Lord Willing. I'll leave the show today and I will
head to the great state of Texas. Don't miss with
Texas Texans. And of course I'll be traveling with Wingo.
It's going to be a strange combination because I will
(02:51):
travel with the two men who I have great respect for,
but they come from different places. I'll be taking with us,
and it's Wingling, he who One of the misunderstood things
about Wingo is he's got to touch a practical joker
to him too.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
It's a different style.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
It's a different style, but we're taking a person I
don't want to exaggerate, who may possibly be more sensitive
to secondhand embarrassment than Speedy.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Wow. It is almost terminal. He struggles.
Speaker 8 (03:25):
He does.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
At least you can get through a video. He can't
get through videos. He'll just text I'm out. I tried
to describe to him the time that the bathroom profet
tried to teach me the Book of Hebrews while I
was sitting on the toilet, and he couldn't hear the story.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
He just walked away.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
See, I want to hear the end of the story.
I know, just you're the opposite, and I do. I
feel the anxiety. I feel it, but I want to
stay there with it.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
I don't know that he feels it. You feel numb
to it.
Speaker 8 (03:50):
To me, you love it, I guess, yeah, so I
could have that for one day, So put.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
It this way.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
I don't watch the voice except on the chair. Since
that's over with, I never watched it again.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Okay, that's everything you should know about your.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
I don't like the singing. I don't like the way
they do it. They drag it out too long, and
they can they do it too many times a year,
you know, Okay, they styled once a year. But I
will tell you about this this turning chair thing though.
I can't get enough of that.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Brutal that's I don't know what that's like.
Speaker 8 (04:21):
It is.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
I'm with Greg.
Speaker 9 (04:24):
I like the more awkward, big group, like the beginning
of The Golden Bachelor, for example, when you've got all
the contestants in there, and the.
Speaker 5 (04:34):
Awkwardness just keeps flying.
Speaker 9 (04:35):
You got weirdos, and then at the end that you
try to get all serious like it's a real love
story and all that, and you're like, this is not
a real love story.
Speaker 5 (04:42):
So yeah, I'm with you on that.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
Okay, So you like that's funny. When they were getting
out of the limo, it dawned on me.
Speaker 1 (04:48):
I said, oh, speed, he needs I know, we talk
about the voice and needs to see he needs to
see this.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
Also. I think now I think, I mean I want
to be with him. I think I'm in between the
two extremes.
Speaker 1 (05:01):
Okay, so I think I'm kind of like the person.
There's some people that they can handle pain, and then
there's people that don't feel pain. And so I think
I'm more of the I can handle pain, but I
do feel it.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
You know, I'll stay there.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I stay there and I feel it, and there's there's
even a I think there's a moment. There's always a
moment I want to turn it off or turn away,
and I stay. But I'm not enjoying it. I think
Adlin Gregor enjoyed it. Yeah, till a little bit. I mean,
I feel the but I kind of have I kind
of have the car wreck mentality about it. I can't
take my eyes off of it, but I'm very uncomfortable
(05:37):
about it.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
Do you know how when weedy in them they wish
they'd never seen Do.
Speaker 8 (05:40):
You remember how when we hit our fifties, ricked, we
somehow developed allergies? Yes, you know, and it was weird.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Really strange.
Speaker 8 (05:47):
I've never had allergies, and suddenly one day I cut
the yard and I came in, I was all snotty
and messed up.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
And start wearing a mask.
Speaker 8 (05:53):
Yeah, And some people say as you as you age,
you can develop second hand a little bit. I've seen
study and I've seen you kind of turn the corner
just slightly to where I'm not saying, you know, you
feel sorry for someone or you become embarrassed for someone,
because that's what it is. You're uncomfortable, like all of
(06:15):
a sudden, you're that person and you're not, so you
have that feeling, and it's just it's it's just so uncomfortable.
I've noticed that a couple of times you have reacted
the way I would, and and it's it's that end
that's kind of new. It isn't very new.
Speaker 1 (06:31):
Right, And and I think that now I still love
to be the person that torments uh huh people with
secondhand embarrassment. Which that's bad news for Andy, right because
I figure, first of all, if you do men's ministry,
you're signing up for awkward, okay.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
So and and.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
Andy the fact that he's done a bunch of youth
ministry and still does some well a good bit of it, but.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
That was his base.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
And then we both journeyed into men's ministry together. And
there's nothing more awkward than men's ministry. You will you
will meet, You'll get put in some of the most
awkward situations. And I've had some doozies.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
So the fact that I have Wingo drafting with me,
I don't see wing Go can go one or two ways.
He can be all in or he can say, hey,
stop all this foolishness here, we're here to to to
challenge and disciple men. And then he takes his his
very very strong hand and he'll he'll torpedo you right
into the neck bone and and and say that's enough
(07:26):
of that.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
So so I don't.
Speaker 8 (07:28):
Know, Well, like the van ride to one of our
man church conference events. He was the instigator. He will
I mean, he was the one. You don't know which
way he is going to go for some reason. He's
unpredictable when it comes to this.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So he may shut it all down and say, hey,
we need to be get serious, or he may go
let's make Andy struggle.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
Yeah, so I'm hoping for the latter. I don't think
that's the right way to go.
Speaker 9 (07:54):
You talking about Alabama's finest mm hmm.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Right here there he is there, he is right there
is there's a way.
Speaker 5 (07:59):
Wait for the the tide played for the pack?
Speaker 9 (08:02):
What can he pokes people in their neck bones?
Speaker 5 (08:05):
What can he do? Any such a cool guy, he's
such a.
Speaker 2 (08:08):
Nice So here's what I said.
Speaker 8 (08:10):
Because you have an amazing ability, Rick to just start
conversations with someone and play characters and and do it
with a straight face. I'm gonna need that. And then
acting like Andy is into something he's not like. You know,
so you'll start talking to somebody and suddenly you find
out they're into I don't know, you two u TV
mud riding, trail riding or something I've just made around
(08:34):
I don't know. Because there's people that go out on
the weekends and do that and I go, well, you know, yeah,
Andy's he's into that. Andy, where's the last place you've been?
Speaker 2 (08:40):
Absolutely? You know, something like that? That just made up
a top I think at the hotel. I'll also do
what you're good at. You're good at whatever, You're really good.
You're really good at this.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Uh, you're the best as a matter of fact, this,
and I've learned from you. I will definitely do some
elevator humor with him.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
Okay, good, good, So Andy, So what did the doctor
finally say that? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, So the doctor said, what you get
a shot one? And right there in front of strangers
and watch him struggle.
Speaker 8 (09:08):
And I think the most uncomfortable moment we've ever had
in an elevator where we did something like that was
it was something about a prosthetic or something losing a limb,
and we didn't realize the person in the elevator was
getting off on that floor and has had lost some limb,
the something.
Speaker 2 (09:23):
That they did not have, the very limb we were pretending.
Speaker 8 (09:26):
Not to right, Oh, we didn't know it.
Speaker 1 (09:28):
You look up and go try about that man, because
what what speedy knows what speedy knows. If I'm in
the elevator with him and he decides to do that
with me, I give a full story. Yeah, yeah, I
jumped right in. Oh boy, But see Andy won't. He'll
fold like a cup and he'll sweat, So I can't wait.
(09:48):
Of course, Rick, you're going to do something. This is
probably more important, right your praying?
Speaker 10 (09:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (09:54):
Sometimes so your first reaction to going to small town
Texas is I bet there's a more awkward people there.
I can make it Andy uncomfortable with Yeah, that seems
like that. That shouldn't be the priority. Sadly, you can
join us tomorrow, all three of us, if you're there
in that area, Beaumont, Orange Texas around there to be
at first Baptist Church, Orange Texas. Speedy will not be there,
(10:17):
but Andy Blanks will, Andy Blank's Rich WINGO and I
all three speaking will start at eight in the morning tomorrow,
and then we'll have you out of there by lunch.
So make plans to be with us if you haven't already.
We'll be right back. A couple of things that we
(10:37):
need to discuss. First of all, let me let me
make sure I've got this right. And because I sent
Gregor I've got a buddy that just sent me. Do
you remember the guy and he's the husband wife that
I told you that when they started going to church
with us, they were in our Sunday school class. Can't
call it, can't go call it a life group, I'm sorry,
Sunday school class. And we we discovered pretty quick when
(11:01):
we begin to fellowship with them that we weren't smart
enough to be their friends. So the husband who still
listens to the show interesting and they had to move unfortunately,
but they're over in Georgia now and he catches the
show on the tune in app and podcast archive. His
quote to me was, I just sent something that I
(11:23):
think Greg is going to like. I am looking at
it or I looked at it yesterday. Took a picture Greg.
Why would you think that this man who's really, really smart,
would think you would be thrilled that he's got a
picture of William Herschel's telescope. Why do you think that
is I'm not sure a picture of the actual actual telescope.
(11:48):
Why do you think that would be a big to you?
What do you think this guy did with this telescope?
Speaker 2 (11:55):
You found? Correct?
Speaker 1 (11:57):
He discovered the planet Uranus and eighty one actually went
space went okay, what do we talk about in space? Like, well,
your aus that's right. So this is the guy this
response to the telescope that looked at Uranus.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
There it is, and I appreciate him thinking of it.
Speaker 9 (12:16):
Yeah, he's that telescope is the first one to see Uranus.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Yeah, yeah, wow, majory chills. I have chills.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
He looked through it, and you know what I think
I see? Yes, this is the.
Speaker 5 (12:27):
Quote from my god it Uranus. Guys.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
I'm not trying to get ahead of myself, but I'm
looking through this telescope and I'm pretty sure I see yours.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
There we go the quote we go.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
The quote is I thought I would send a picture
of Greg's favorite astronomers telescope.
Speaker 10 (12:46):
It is.
Speaker 8 (12:47):
Wow, that's so good.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
That's the one that did it. There there it is
right there. I appreciate it.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
Yeah, I'm having a fantastic.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
Man of his intelligence could go then.
Speaker 8 (12:56):
Think about looking through that and going, yeah, look there's
your angel.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
So this is I think I see it's a your ain.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
Come here, come here, look at this.
Speaker 10 (13:03):
Look at that?
Speaker 5 (13:04):
Is that your rates?
Speaker 1 (13:05):
They said that as you see the drawing of how
big The whole thing was what what we're.
Speaker 8 (13:10):
Looking at the telescope.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
What we're looking at is it's forty forty feet of
This was the remaining section of what was a forty
foot Oh William holescope. So there is one section seventeen
eighty one. It was the largest in the world at
the time and cost over four thousand dollars, paid for
by King George. The Third Wow completed in seventeen eighty nine.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
What did he want to look at your ainis for?
Speaker 9 (13:38):
Well, it says, I think they were surprised by your inis.
Speaker 2 (13:41):
Yeah, he came back to the king.
Speaker 1 (13:42):
He came back to the king and in an awkward moment, said,
I believe I've looked at random.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
So if you just he was beheaded.
Speaker 8 (13:52):
If you discovered He was talking about, can you name it?
If you discover It's.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
Like, if you discovered it, you can get right.
Speaker 8 (13:59):
Yeah, So who named it? That he discovered it? But
who said, hey that, let's name it ur Ainie.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
We'll call it your AINTU.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
By the way, I love it. I love these little
tidbits in here. Sadly, Herschel did not use the Great
Telescope for much serious astronomy, since it was difficult to
set up and maintain, meaning it was a hassle. His
son had it dismantled in eighteen forty.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
I guess because it was it wasn't worth it.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
It was worth all the trouble, and it was destroyed
when a tree fell on it thirty years later.
Speaker 2 (14:27):
Oh wow, so this is just the piece that's left. Okay,
so wow, I'm excited speaking of that.
Speaker 9 (14:34):
They wanted to continue because William Herschel actually to honor
King George the Third, who, like you said, paid for
the thing initially for the telescope, initially called.
Speaker 5 (14:44):
It Georgie's Star. Oh boy, and like then.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
The forumner, how do you go from that to your aina?
Speaker 9 (14:50):
I know, Well, they wanted to go with foreign astronomers,
wanted to continue the tradition of classic mythology, and so
they proposed the name of the Greek god of the sky.
Speaker 8 (15:03):
Here okay, speaking of this, this whole conversation show. So
Terry had a colon hospital after that.
Speaker 9 (15:09):
Speedy, Uh, Talvin Speedy and Wilburn probably not.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
A good chad.
Speaker 8 (15:16):
It was just time, you know, I mean, it's just
everybody's at the age you got to do that. And
uh and so my instructions were after the show to
her mom took her and then I was to get
there and then wait for everything to finish up and
then and then you know, get her home. So so Terry,
Terry told me that going in, uh that.
Speaker 5 (15:37):
Going into the hospital that.
Speaker 8 (15:40):
Hey, here's the look as they were taking before they
took her back. I meant, uh that, hey, here's the number,
this is who's gonna call you. And after it's over,
the doctor is going to call you and go over
everything and then take you where to pick me up
and all that. I'm like, okay. So the doctor calls
and after the procedure, hey she did great, blah blah blah,
everything's fine. Uh. And and so Terry comes out and she's,
(16:03):
you know, she's kind of getting out out of the
an anesthesia it is, and so she's not quite right,
but she's she's okay, but she's just a little goofy
and hey whatever, you know, life is great. And I said, uh,
you would love this delivery too. I said, uh, we're
going home. And I said, hey, the doctor called me
and went over everything, and she said, really, what what
(16:26):
did what did she say? And I said, she said
she had a cute little booty and she said she
said that, and I said, yeah, she said said, she said,
she said that you, uh, you were doing well in
that department. And uh she said she what doctor would
say that?
Speaker 6 (16:43):
Ye?
Speaker 8 (16:44):
Are you serious? Because she was just so loopy. Yeah,
you know, I mean she wasn't like I'm coming out
of a dentist, you know, all that.
Speaker 2 (16:52):
It was just a little just a bit, a little bit.
Speaker 8 (16:54):
And yeah, Lee, I let that go for about five
or ten minutes. And then if we were coming home,
and she said, I can't believe she said that. I said,
I'm not kidding, baby, she never said that.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
And then she.
Speaker 8 (17:05):
Said what our wives ask a lot, what's wrong with you?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
What is wrong with you?
Speaker 8 (17:09):
Why would you do that to me?
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Tell me right then? You said, well, here's the good news.
It's all behind you now.
Speaker 8 (17:15):
I told her. I said, yeah, I agreed with her,
and we had a conversation about it. She said, what dyah, I.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
You talked to you about? She talked to her about
the air she had Now, No, she was finding that department. Really,
I told her.
Speaker 5 (17:28):
She said, it was something weird with you, Rick, I
don't know.
Speaker 2 (17:32):
They blow air up in there. You got a lot
of air. You gotta get out.
Speaker 8 (17:34):
She did say hey, because I told her. I said,
my only request the doctor was before I'm out. I
don't the last thing I want to see like Gerald
Casey that time, I don't want to see my butt
on that mine.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
That's what he claimed his last vision.
Speaker 10 (17:48):
Planet Herschel is the Rick Burger's show.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
I'm down cuddles and not overdo it, but we are
excited about it. So here are some games this weekend
for consideration. Number four LSU at number thirteen Old miss
like that.
Speaker 2 (18:15):
That's that's your two thirty.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
My goodness, that's the two thirty on ABC Auburn Texas
A and M Texas A and M at number nine Auburn.
It's kind of odd, you know, when you're in the
world where a loss didn't feel that bad. I mean,
some ugly things happen, but there I think if you're
an Auburn fan, because as every Saturday, any given Saturday,
(18:39):
put it beautifully. When they're good, they're really good, and
when they're bad, they're really bad. I think you were like,
going is a team just like really bad, and then
you're kind of like they're pretty good.
Speaker 2 (18:51):
You know, they didn't they were.
Speaker 1 (18:54):
They went into that game and beat the inferior teams
like they should beat Baylor. That's a that's a decent program,
and they competed with Oklahoma and had a chance to win.
So you're almost feeling like, okay, you.
Speaker 2 (19:08):
Know, Jerry's still out.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
It's okay, but I didn't like it's getting sacked ten times,
probably holding the ball a little bit. Let's get the
ball out. But anyway, so Texas A and M, we
don't know what to do with you. We think you
should win, be in the running for a national championship,
and then you just fade away.
Speaker 8 (19:26):
So now they're three and oh big win against Notre Dame.
Speaker 2 (19:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
So those are two fan bases that never really know
what they have. And so this Saturday, maybe each fan
base will find something out about their team. LSU O
Miss We're gonna find out about both of these teams.
LSU's defense, athletic and impressive offense has potential to be explosive,
(19:50):
but hasn't lived up to the hype. When you got
a hoss quarterback like that, who I'm on four go
the NFL and stay. A lot of people didn't think
that was gonna happen so old miss you know Lane Kiffin.
By the way, a lot of you have watched that
special I was talking about. Now funny, I didn't know
about the hot yoga scene that's on me. I joined
(20:10):
it after that already happened. I would have given your
warning if I know. Somebody said, hey, bird, you didn't
want us about a hot yoga scene. I said, I
didn't see it. I didn't know about I guess I don't.
Speaker 2 (20:19):
Know hot yoga. I'm not opposed to go yo.
Speaker 9 (20:23):
I don't believe if it's really hot in the room,
you sweat a bunch. It's great for your bones and
muscle tissue.
Speaker 1 (20:29):
To you my Ohio State, Washington, I'm not sure Washington's
ready for Ohio State. Even though Washington you can rise
up and beat people. Uh speedy for you. You'll find
out about how state's having a great year. Hell State,
I think you have a great coach. When you take
that first season and see how much improvement they've made. Wow,
(20:55):
but they're playing Tennessee. They're playing Tennessee. Tennessee is loaded.
They're disappointed.
Speaker 8 (21:01):
Is good.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Everybody believes they should have beat Where is it at Georgia,
including Kirby smart.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Yeah, it's in Startful, it's in historical.
Speaker 8 (21:08):
But did y'all know that this has been a big
part of my week and probably not why you think
it has been. And that is that all the Walls
fans have been emailing me on where to eat. Oh yeah,
and it's isn't it funny? It all goes back to food. Yeah,
And so I've been giving them where to go. I
mean it's a no brainer. Uh. And so hopefully all
have a great trip to Startful.
Speaker 2 (21:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
And you know we were there three fifteen. I think
we were there for four years with big love. So
we we found all the great places to eat too,
and then we get into the evening folks, and boy,
buckle up. Here we go Alabama, Georgia huge, Oregon, Penn
State huge.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
And that's where game day will be. We talked about that.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
Yeah, well, I.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
Mean number six versus number three. I mean, you can't
really fault them for being there.
Speaker 2 (21:55):
But guys will be at Georgia, Bama correct nation. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
I know you here think that the whole wide world
revolves around the SEC, but it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
I mean he should.
Speaker 1 (22:05):
I mean, when you when you're going to go to
the two highest ranked teams that are playing each other.
It's Oregon Penn State.
Speaker 2 (22:13):
I know that's fine.
Speaker 8 (22:15):
And and look a lot of our affiliates are also
in this region. Indiana is at Iowa. That's four and
o versus three and one on on NBC India. That's
a big one.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Send a message last week either either they are real,
real good or Illinois was way over rate.
Speaker 2 (22:29):
Right, Yeah, let me tell you that might be a
combination of both.
Speaker 8 (22:32):
That's just a lot of stuff on.
Speaker 1 (22:33):
They made Illinois it like a pretender. Yeah, then you
got the Ryder Cup again.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
I saw that little thing you tried to direct message me.
You love that. Yeah. I had to be paying attention
and saw it come through, and I said, what does
he sended me?
Speaker 11 (22:48):
Man?
Speaker 1 (22:48):
As soon as I clicked it, it was some motivational
rider cup thing.
Speaker 8 (22:52):
I did that about.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Being a warrior in there. Whenever I sent it.
Speaker 8 (22:57):
To you, I just want you to know I was laughing.
I said, this is you got coach O down there
working the crowd.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
Oh yeah, are y'all interested in all in us looking
at this and kind of giving some idea how you
think these are gonna go? I mean, our predictions mean nothing. No,
but I mean because we don't even know.
Speaker 8 (23:15):
So predictions can't be mojo. Can we all be clear
on that? Yeah, the predictions just to prediction. Yeah, I agree, right.
Speaker 1 (23:21):
Yeah, okay, all right, so so let's let's run them.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Notre Dame Arkansas is a little bit interesting, but I'm
not Arkansas feels like they're they're mad. At everybody's mad,
nobody's happy. You're a good team, but you can't quite
get it all together. So so Notre Dame Arkansas.
Speaker 8 (23:40):
I'm gonna say Arkansas upsets Notre Dame because it's at Arkansas.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Greg, that's tempting, it is tempting. I'm going Notre Dame, Adler.
Speaker 9 (23:50):
I'm going with the fighting Irishman, thank you, buddy.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
I'm gonna draft with Speedy, and I'm gonna go with Arkansas.
Speaker 8 (23:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
And now they're going to be closed, but they're gonna
fumble or something.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Auburn has to go to Texas A and MN.
Speaker 2 (24:06):
If Texas A.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
And M was playing at Auburn, I could be entertained
by Auburn. But I think Texas A and.
Speaker 2 (24:12):
M at home.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Auburn ten sacks, I'm still I'm going with Auburn. Greg you,
I'm just saying Speedy.
Speaker 8 (24:25):
My heart is saying Auburn. But I think I'm gonna
go to Texas A and M on this one.
Speaker 2 (24:30):
Adler, I know you can't go against Auburn.
Speaker 5 (24:33):
Yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with with the
war Eagles.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Okay, thank you, thanks L s U.
Speaker 8 (24:39):
O Miss, this is that old miss.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
Now a lot about O Miss. I haven't seen them
a lot.
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Boy. L s U's defense is so good.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
Jolly mm hmm. I'm going oh miss, wow Speedy.
Speaker 8 (24:55):
I think I'm probably gonna make some hell State fans upset,
but I think Ole Miss gets this one.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Okay, Adler at home, Uh, I'm gonna go with the
Auburn Tigers. No, that's sellings you. Everything can be pick
Just because you pick a bunch don't make it better.
Speaker 9 (25:10):
I'm gonna go with the Tiger that looks like you
don't want to turn your.
Speaker 12 (25:14):
Back on it.
Speaker 2 (25:15):
Okay, Yeah, like you don't want to be, you know.
Speaker 9 (25:17):
In an elevator with that.
Speaker 1 (25:19):
And plus plus you want to be you know, you
don't want anybody to be offended by you being for rebels.
Yeah right, Okay, I'm going you know what, I'm gonna
tell you this. I don't know why, I really don't,
but I believe in I'm missing this one.
Speaker 8 (25:34):
I don't know why.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Something just the lane Kiff and thinks.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
That would actually concern me, that would, But I think
lane Kiff is getting his act together. But that's not yet.
There's something about l s U. They're really good and
and I think they have the right coach. But there,
I can't he I can't make him fit there. Yeah,
he still bothers me there, and I think that he
can't get them through a season unscathed. And these are
(26:04):
the kind of games I think LSU trips up on.
They don't like two thirty. So so Tennessee Mississippi State.
I know, speedy. I'm sorry again.
Speaker 8 (26:14):
I'm just gonna vote this one with my heart and
y'all can all be uh with a stupid pick. But
I'm just gonna have to say Missippi State.
Speaker 1 (26:19):
I'm gonna if you know Tennessee, I'll go Tennessee as well.
Speaker 8 (26:23):
Thank you. That's pretty quick for both of y'all.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Yeah, I'm excited about what's happened in Mississippi State.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
I think you have the right guy.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
I totally get it, and I think you're on the way,
but you're not ready for I totally get what y'all
are saying.
Speaker 8 (26:33):
I just can't. I can't, right, you know, I can't say.
Maybe I should say Tennessee, but I'm not. Yeah, and
we'll see.
Speaker 9 (26:42):
So Hugh Freese has gone on record talking about the
new nine game SEC schedule. He says, at this rate,
this isn't this isn't insane schedule. Great for fans, and
I understand what we got to do, but now it's
like eight and four is good, ninety three is really good,
ten and two years it's like off the charts. He
actually had another request for some other teams that he
could play. If you want to hear this really quick.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
Always goes back to well, it's just you know, goes
back to Auburn.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
I don't think huge sleeps.
Speaker 8 (27:11):
Well, no, no, he needs some sunscreen.
Speaker 5 (27:14):
It's this new nine nine team SEC schedule.
Speaker 9 (27:17):
And he has actually has a request for the Auburn
Tigers schedule.
Speaker 8 (27:22):
More the Packers available, I mean, can we get them
and maybe the Chiefs And you know it's but then
that's funny. Yeah, that's if you feel that way, don't
you every every week?
Speaker 2 (27:33):
Who are you picking Tennessee and missip State?
Speaker 9 (27:36):
I mean, I gotta go Tennessee that uh workplace, best friends?
Speaker 8 (27:39):
Why would you do that?
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Sorry, buddy, Alabama, Georgia.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
I'm going with Ted.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
I am going to do this and and don't be
mad at me, Bulldog fans. I'm going. I'm going Alabama
on this. I don't know why. I feel like I
feel like they're they're they're ready for a big win.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
The Blitzka I love when when he starts. I'm going
with Georgia. Okay, Oregon Penn State.
Speaker 8 (28:11):
This one for me is nothing but a coin flip,
nothing because I don't know anything about either one of them.
So I'm gonna go. I'm a default to a night
game at Penn State. It's gonna be crazy, probably a
white out or something, and I'm gonna go Penn State.
Speaker 2 (28:25):
I'm going to Oregon. Yeah, me too.
Speaker 9 (28:29):
Oregon Turning Point USA is giving out five thousand Charlie
Kirk Freedom shirts, the white shirts. Charlie Kirk was planning
to attend this game. That's something that you will see this.
Speaker 2 (28:42):
So you're going with the organ custom Charlie Kirk.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
So Freedom, I'm a big freedom guy.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
That can feel bad.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
I never believe in Penn State they always they always
dropped one when they played good team, they would go
they have one loss, but it's always a big and
this will be it. D does not have the ability
to mojio your team by simply picking them.
Speaker 8 (29:05):
Yeah, and I don't know what this outlandish statement is either,
and they just might be having fun. Your picks always lose.
I don't know what that means. I'm the last time
I picked always.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Lose the normally do every time you've got one run.
Speaker 8 (29:17):
Right, We're just now we're just making stuff, you know.
So Greg also record Greg also picked Bama. But I
guess nobody. I guess nobody heard that.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Do you think minions are going to go after their
leader now that I told you all last week? They're
gonna win the whole thing? Greg's telling you now now
now he's having fun with with the Bama fan base. Yeah,
so that was shocking.
Speaker 2 (29:41):
So I had I don't.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
I don't really know how to take what happened to
me yesterday in the world of handy, because you know,
I've become a little more handy. Uh and you finish
still doesn't make you handy repair a few things. Sherry's
kind of feeling batter are now, you know she she'll
send me a list.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
You know, here's some things you might.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
Actually Actually you had that pot that that burst I
had to deal with.
Speaker 8 (30:12):
You had to deal with, uh, make a phone.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Call identified it.
Speaker 1 (30:18):
I talked to folks that comfort dynamics, UH, and that
I told the plumber that I don't think it's irrigation.
I believe it's something's that from the house. I've checked it.
It's not an irrigation problem. So I think that you
might want to address it because I think if it
had been irrigation, I would have just handled it on site.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
And so they y.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
They agreed with me, and I got word from Sure
job but Sure that it was repaired. We again mark
off yesterday does this job to a screwdriver in his
hand yesterday? And I had my multi purpose tool I had,
I had another I had another handy person, carpenter, come
(31:06):
over to the house to assess our door situation.
Speaker 2 (31:09):
Got some doors in an issue.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
If you recall, I locked myself out of the house
and I had to break into.
Speaker 2 (31:15):
My own house.
Speaker 1 (31:16):
Yeah, that's what we've all done and was nearly arrested
by simply Safe.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
But anyways, so yeah and ruder, get out of there.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
What you're doing? Have I told you about the the
screw drivers? I told you the uncomfortable moment. Uncomfortable moment
because you know, Sherry's out of town this week. Sherry
actually engaged me about the door. She said, so you
locked yourself out? I said, yeah, I went out to
the grill and then I had to go down the pergla,
you know, to do the final check for the world's
(31:46):
most massive pergola. And uh, yeah, okay, So you just
went around then and went in the garage. I said no,
I had actually bolted the garage because the combo lock
has been acting up, which I'll fix, don't worry about it.
And she said, well, how did you get in? I said, well,
I just got in? Well how rick did you get
(32:10):
in the house. Well, you know that one door that's
got some issues that I think accidentally locked me out.
I just I got in there. It has more issues
now she said, how did you get in the door?
Did you get She said, did you get it unlocked?
I said no, I was able to to over to
get it open over power.
Speaker 2 (32:29):
She said, how I.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Said, I I opened it and I've got somebody coming
over to fix it. And uh so so anyway, so
we're there and he's assessing, and I'm assessing. I said,
why we're here, Let's go to all these doors that
over the years now don't work. You know, if you
if you have a house long enough because of Alabama
weather with the shrinking, expanding and all this, they get
(32:53):
to where they want shut.
Speaker 8 (32:54):
Or is this what he's told you? And you just
using his language.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Now I know about all that, Yeah, you know. And
uh he's so.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
We were talking and he's jacked I mean, yeah, he's
one of these guys.
Speaker 8 (33:04):
I mean he's jacked for and the handy man that's
come over to fix everything, okay.
Speaker 2 (33:09):
And and of course I'll see him kind of checking
my arms out and he says uh. He says uh.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
And all of a sudden he begins to talk to me,
and there's a moment where I think we're talking about steroids.
Speaker 8 (33:22):
Steroids. Now you you classify everything is.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
To be handy, and and I'm like, are you suggesting?
I what?
Speaker 1 (33:30):
And and he started to asking me about it, as
you tell testosterone.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
I said, well, excuse me, and and uh and so
it was it the tool belt you were wearing.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
It was said that, you know what I said to myself,
dog going, I shouldn't wear shorts, you know what?
Speaker 2 (33:45):
And uh and so uh.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
So I'm pretty sure at one point we were talking
about steroids and I was.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Like, what do you mean mean by that?
Speaker 1 (33:59):
I was like, you are you talking about like for
men for our age and you're talking about the low
T Yeah, you're.
Speaker 5 (34:07):
Talking about like from a doctor.
Speaker 9 (34:08):
Are you talking about like a from a dude on
the street?
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Right, I'm like, I'm about nugenics? This is all I said.
Do you suggest I talked to my doctor? You saying
you've seen some success or you want me to ask
you to get some for me?
Speaker 2 (34:21):
That I don't know?
Speaker 10 (34:22):
What is the Rick Burgess show?
Speaker 1 (34:30):
You know when you speeding and I were talking about
it in the break and you know, these things seem
to happen in groups, and they've happened, you know, in
different categories.
Speaker 2 (34:39):
Right now.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
You know, you look at the powerful ministry of John MacArthur,
he passes away, the powerful ministry of Charlie Kirk, he's murdered.
And then yesterday we hear that Vodie bacham has. I'm
assuming it sounds like maybe a art attack or some
(35:00):
sort of a medical emergency. And at fifty six years
old he has now died as well. So a powerful,
powerful man of God. If you're not familiar with his teaching,
I've been, you know, following and listening to him for
quite a while. He is the founding president and dean
(35:22):
of Founders Seminary. He also is the Dean of theology
at the African Christian University in Zambia and Grace Family
Baptist Church. He had previously before he moved to Zambia,
he had been pastor at Spring, Texas, so there and
(35:43):
of course I never I didn't know him personally. I
just was enjoyed listening to his sermons and watching him
defend the faith as well. And it was I had
you know how you have kind of a bucket list
of your people you admire and you kind of hope
(36:03):
you have an opportunity to maybe serve alongside them. I
was actually given an opportunity. And that's the reason why
that you know, Jesus taught us be careful, saying you're
gonna do this, and you're gonna do that. You need
to say, Lord Willing, I'm going to do this and
I'm going to do that. Nothing wrong with planning, but
you need to do it the right way. It would
(36:23):
be next summer. I was supposed to do a conference
with Vote Bacam. Wow, and I was excited about that opportunity.
The Lord has other plans, and of course at what
he does is always perfect and right. And he knew
this when he wove body Vodi Bacam in his mother's womb.
But here's an interesting moment Vote Bacam talking about how
(36:47):
we should respond if we ever hear of his earthly death.
So it's just a brief moment in one of his
powerful sermons.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Here we go.
Speaker 12 (36:57):
You are going to hear a rumor one day that
Vodie Wakam is doing more. Don't you believe it? Don't
you believe it? Don't you believe it? Because though I die,
I will rise with Christ. It will not be the
end of me, because Christ is raised and I do
(37:19):
will be raised with Christ. That is why he is
called the firstborn from the dead. Folks, you don't talk
about a first born unless there's others who are born
after him.
Speaker 2 (37:30):
Don't you pity me?
Speaker 12 (37:32):
You pity the one who wants to hold on to
Jesus without holding onto the resurrection. You pity the one
who has absolutely no hope because they have no resurrected Christ. Wow.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
Wow. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
And you know he also which is how I first
connected to his teaching some of the principles you hear
us talking about. Of course we didn't come up with
them with the ministry Themanchurch dot com. These are principles
from the Word of God, so they aren't ours.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
We're just reminding men.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
Of what Scripture says about our role and how we
were created. And and and Vodie was was always doing
the same thing. He would challenge men. Of course he
would challenge everyone, but he would he would challenge men,
and and and would say some of the same things
about about the church. And you know how we attempt
(38:27):
uh to reach and disciple men by treating men like
they're women and children, and you just can't. Men and
women are equal, but they're just beautifully distinct. So anyway,
and I also love when he said, when I think
about things that have happened with Charlie Kirk and which
is more of an example. I mean, he and John MacArthur,
(38:48):
I mean, their bodies just gave way. Charlie Kirk, of course,
was murdered and he I remember one of his teachings.
He said something You've heard me reference it on the
show when he's reading what the apost Paul was saying
to young Timothy. And I never forget when Vodie said this,
and I thought, man, that's good.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
He goes.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Let me break this down for you. The Apostle Paul said,
I'm going to keep doing this until they kill me,
and you can then you do it until they kill you. Yeah,
that's pretty much yet so uh and that's you know
what happened. So so anyway, Vody Bacham, his earthly death
(39:28):
has ended at fifty six.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
But remember this, he said.
Speaker 1 (39:32):
When we hear when we hear this day, don't don't
be foolish and think I'm dead, because I'm not.
Speaker 2 (39:37):
Don't pity me. Don't don't pity me.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
Pity those that don't have hope in Christ now, pity them,
but don't pity me. So we won't, but we, uh,
we will look at that. And you know, when these
things happen, it's the design. I mean, I had somebody
text me yesterday and they were devastated by this, and
it was one of the people involved in the conference,
you know that was going to happen next year. And
(40:00):
I just replied back to them, I said, this is
I mean, we miss these people being here, will miss
their teaching, but they're not supposed to be here forever.
So what happens now they take the baton, we take
it from them, and we do it, and you know
we we don't. It's it's time for maybe somebody to
(40:20):
be the next Vote Bacam, to be the next John MacArthur,
to be to be the next Charlie Kirk. You know
that's that there's always supposed to be somebody that steps
in next. Just like he said about Paul and Timothy.
You know, I'm going to do this till they kill me,
and then I'll hand it to you, and you do
it till they kill you or till you die, or
to Jesus comes back.
Speaker 2 (40:41):
Whatever. So so there you go. So remember that.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
And the beauty that we have now with the you know,
the great theologians and teachers like that is because of
modern technology. I mean, there's a library full of his
teachings that will always be here available to us. But
the bigger message is who's next. Exs Man up, next,
(41:05):
man up.
Speaker 2 (41:06):
We'll be back.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
Our number is eight eight eight, the number six big vox.
But do remember his family and friends in your prayers
because we do have hope in Christ and he is right.
Speaker 2 (41:19):
But we also mourn. We just don't mourn like those
who have no hope, but we do more. We'll be
back here we go, America.
Speaker 1 (41:37):
Thank you for being with us today as we work
our way through another one.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
And I think it will fire you up today. I
really do.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Adler, I think is feeling back because he didn't have
the clip ready and so we're not talking about a
ton more. But Vodie Bachman, if you never had got
experienced any of his tea and preaching and how God
gifted him, and the thing that the way that his
approach what certainly appealed to me, that's the kind of
(42:09):
teaching that I'm drawn to. Here's about a minute and
a half and we'll continue if some of you bring
it up later too, to talk about this. But I
know that maybe some of you out there are not
as familiar. It seems like a lot of you are
because I started getting tons of you texting and our
friends texting, and then a lot of you emailing and
text nation. You were already asking about it soon as
(42:29):
the show started, So I know he did have big impact.
But if you never got to experience, here's just ninety
seconds a minute and a half of how powerful a
man of God and a gifted teacher and preacher that
he really was.
Speaker 5 (42:43):
Here we go, and he's going to talk about his
rough upbringing.
Speaker 9 (42:46):
I honestly didn't know about vote Bacum until till the
news yesterday.
Speaker 5 (42:50):
Oh really, and so this will.
Speaker 9 (42:51):
Talk about his upbringing and going back to his hometown
kind of so to speak.
Speaker 12 (42:55):
Okay, is anybody ever gone back home with those folks
and just had God put you in a closet where
you laid down on your face and said, God, thank
you for removing me from this place, thank you for
getting me out of here. Remember the first time, as
a grown man going back to the streets in south
central LA where I was raised. I'll never forget that time,
(43:18):
And I'll never forget the time in April of two
thousand and six when I went back and buried my father,
who was dead at fifty five years old because of
an addiction to cocaine. I'll never forget riding around those streets.
I'll never get going back home and realizing that the
gang's not all there. The guys I ran with, the
guys I grew up with, They're not all there. I
(43:38):
stood and preached at my father's funeral. I just had
to go away afterwards in a corner by myself and
lay on my face and weep as I remembered who
I was before God saved me. You can't have the
memory of my sin. I won't let you take it.
It reminds me of God's goodness to me. It reminds
(43:59):
me of grace in my life. It reminds me of
where I was and where I never want to be again.
It reminds me that His work in me may not
be complete, but it is a factual. I'm not who
I ought to be, but hallelujah, I'm.
Speaker 8 (44:17):
Not who I want.
Speaker 2 (44:18):
Amen m.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
That's uh man. I can relate to that so much.
I love what he said, not even that long ago.
I mean that was when he was obviously younger, but
even like in the last few years of his life,
not knowing that was gonna be the last few years,
I remember thinking, oh, he's in his fifties.
Speaker 2 (44:42):
You know, I didn't realize. Of course his dad died
for different reasons. It sounds like, but there is something
interesting that his dad died at fifty five and he
did at fifty six.
Speaker 13 (44:50):
Yeah, but anyway, he said this, he said, and I
think this is it was a reminder from me as
I was praying and getting ready to come to work today.
Speaker 1 (45:03):
He said, I'll never get over being redeemed. I'll never
get over it. I'll never get over how Jesus has
transformed me. Kind of what he was saying here, because
I remember who I was before him, and I can
never get over God's grace and how so and and
(45:24):
may we never get over it? And if maybe you're
in a point where you're even someone and you know
that you're redeemed and you've kind of gotten over it,
maybe maybe today we're reminded that what would be our
fate without.
Speaker 2 (45:40):
God's mercy and grace? And may we never get over it.
Speaker 1 (45:43):
And I'll tell you this, I was a bad, bad,
wicked man, and I agree with with with vote. I
never want to be. I'm so thankful that I didn't
stay on the road I was on because and I
tell young people this a lot. I don't do as
much youth stuff as I did it one time because
I've gotten, you know, sixty, And I'm not saying I
(46:04):
don't have anything to bring to the table.
Speaker 2 (46:06):
I'm just saying because older.
Speaker 1 (46:08):
Men have a lot to bring to the table, older
women have a lot to bring to the table. But sometimes,
you know, in a youth conference setting, you just got
to go where you feel called, and right now you
can't do it all. I feel more called to men's
ministry and to marriage with ministry with Sherry. But I
try to tell them because I think sometimes young people
(46:29):
when they look to the vote bocams and they look
to some of us that they're like, hmmm, I'm doing
the same things that you did, but you're you're okay,
you made it. So I don't really feel the urgency
to correct it right now.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
I'm gonna go.
Speaker 1 (46:45):
Ahead and you know, sew these wild oats and then
I'll be like you, I'll figure it out later. But
like Vodie just said, and I can say it too,
and Greg, you know, you know with me, everybody who
acted the way we did, they didn't all survive it.
A lot of them died and went to hell. So
(47:06):
this this notion that everybody goes out and sows their
wild oaths, but they eventually come to faith in Christ
and it all works out. That's not the testimony of everybody.
So it's a dangerous game. And that's the reason why
we say make that you look. It's back to Timothy again.
(47:27):
Paul said to Timothy, don't let people you know think
less of you because you're young. You be an example
to the men of the church. Now, young man, young woman,
you've been example to the women.
Speaker 2 (47:40):
Of the church.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
Now your youth is not an excuse to act like
a fool. And don't assume that you're gonna survive it,
because I can think of people that I knew personally
and they didn't survive it. And I'm not their judge,
but I have no hope other than something that happened
(48:02):
I didn't know about about their eternity, and I hope
something happened I didn't know about. But all indications don't
look great. So not everybody has this great testimony of
how it all worked out. And remember, and we did
a thirty day devotional about a thirty one day devotional.
Sin always matters. It does damage your on Earth that
(48:24):
even your redemption can't always repair. Your eternity can be repaired,
praise God for that, but the repercussions of this kind
of life sometimes never get repaired on Earth. So it
matters do it now, don't put this off, you know,
So there you go. Just pass that along. Speaking of that,
(48:47):
so we do have an update on the darkness that's
out there. The Ice attack timeline is going to show
that the shooter sought to inflict real error and that
it is now clear that this shooter intended to shoot
(49:09):
ICE agents, just missed and killed people that were not
intended to be killed one and hurt two others.
Speaker 2 (49:17):
But the target were clearly.
Speaker 1 (49:19):
ICE agents, so much so he was monitoring where they
were going to be.
Speaker 8 (49:24):
There's an ice ice tracking app.
Speaker 2 (49:26):
Yeah he had, he had exactly, Yeah, he had a
tracking app.
Speaker 9 (49:30):
They've got these libs out here with these ice tracking apps,
and so if you see any ICE activity, you report
it in the app so that everybody.
Speaker 5 (49:42):
Yes, exactly, so that everybody that has the app.
Speaker 9 (49:44):
Knows where ice is and you can do with it
what you will with that information.
Speaker 5 (49:50):
And that's horrible.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
So it does look like that all indications are this
is another politically motivated attack in this one against law
and enforcement and not a one off. So so there
you go. And you know that I watched a very
very interesting video take on the state of all this
(50:12):
and you will not believe you sent it to me.
Speaker 2 (50:15):
Gary. Oh really, Hey, you need to watch this now.
Speaker 1 (50:20):
And Greg, Hey until Greg, he's right again, So so.
Speaker 2 (50:26):
I'll send it to you.
Speaker 1 (50:27):
It's right again. It's lengthy, like you know what I said, lengthy. No,
a lengthy video he sent. But you know, now, I'm
at a point right now where I basically are in
some stuff where I work, work, work, get home, eat something,
and go to bed.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (50:40):
So's so I was able to I mean, rare for
me to have the time to go.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
I think I'm gonna watch all this.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Uh and uh it's from Gary. Well he's not the
ones doing and he sent me the But you know,
sometimes if Gary sends you something, you don't want to
watch it because you don't know what's gonna be, kind
of praying, yeah the bottom of the hour, we'll be
right back.
Speaker 2 (51:11):
I didn't know.
Speaker 1 (51:13):
You know, there's a couple of stories today in the
entertainment world that involve relationships with fathers Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
Speaker 2 (51:22):
Have y'all seen this one?
Speaker 1 (51:24):
No, yeah, Speedy, you put this in that wrestler Apparently
Dwayne the Rock Johnson speaking out about how the last
time he talked to his late father, Rocky Johnson, he's
a wrestler, Thank you, Greg. If only he had somebody
who drove NASCAR, you could give us a whole look
at their entire family. Tell you, he said, we had
(51:44):
a deeply complicated relationship. Yeah, fifty three or years old.
Speaker 2 (51:49):
Now. By the way, the Rock he has actually lost
a lot of weight for.
Speaker 1 (51:53):
His new he's he said, they fought over his father's memoir.
Speaker 2 (51:58):
I didn't know he did this. I wrestled he put
it out memoir.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
He said that his dad's book contained quotes that had actually,
you know, been written by the Dwayne Uh and oh yeah,
and and that ripped him off. That that was claiming
that that was what he was claiming that that he
(52:22):
gave his dad credit for his success. When he said,
I really never did that, he said, uh, and that
that hurt. He said, as you said, Greg, his daddy
was a former pro wrestler.
Speaker 11 (52:34):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (52:34):
He published it, Greg, you may have read it, called
soul man, right, Johnson story. Can we all please go
get that? And he said that he was shocked to
read that he had written the forward for his dad's
book because he hadn't. So not only did he say
that that Dwayne the Rock Johnson gave his dad credit. Yeah,
(52:58):
gave his dad credit for how successful he was, he
also released the book with the forward using his son's celebrity,
like he had written the forward in it.
Speaker 2 (53:07):
But he did.
Speaker 9 (53:08):
Okay, guys, it's on the cover forward by Dwayne the
Rock Johnson soul Man.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
Which he he said, I did not write. So man
was a big guy.
Speaker 14 (53:19):
He was.
Speaker 2 (53:20):
He was yep.
Speaker 1 (53:23):
So he said he said that that was uh, that
that was crossing a line.
Speaker 9 (53:31):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
And he says it all goes back to the issue
that my dad had. He was a classic narcissist.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
Oh wow, uh wow.
Speaker 1 (53:39):
So yeah, he said in twenty nineteen, the biggest fight
they'd ever had.
Speaker 2 (53:46):
Happened.
Speaker 8 (53:47):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (53:47):
And he said, he said that my dad told me,
what do you think you possibly have to offer?
Speaker 14 (53:55):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (53:56):
And everyone out there that mean that felt good? He's
done pretty well. Yeah he has. He yes, bet that
bet that felt great.
Speaker 12 (54:03):
Uh.
Speaker 15 (54:03):
But anyway, so you love when your dad runs your dad,
and then forward, you love when your dad told you
to mount to nothing, and then when you did, he
basically tried to steal your celebrity for I love it.
Speaker 1 (54:17):
Right, so so he said. Then he asked, do you
smell with the Rock is cooked? He said, just he said,
just so everybody knows my my father's twenty nineteen memoir
is filled with fiction. Yeah, And it took him, yeah,
he said, he said, he said, he said, I know
the truth about these stories. They're not in the book.
(54:38):
The truth is not as wonderful as as that.
Speaker 2 (54:41):
He said. Now a lot of people have been talking
about the Rock.
Speaker 1 (54:46):
The Rock has lost a lot of weight, and when
you see him now, he's like almost uncomfortable.
Speaker 2 (54:50):
Which means he had to have lost muscle, because that's
pretty much all he was. Do you do you think
that's what I was mentioning to you? You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (54:56):
I guess he backs off the work time a little bit.
Do you think, uh uh, this is for a role
that he's going to be playing. It almost looks like that.
Speaker 8 (55:04):
Is it m m A or what is It's something?
I forget what the role is. But oh really, so
that you say that is what it's for. I can't remember.
I can't remember the role Rick, but I just I
was I was mentioning about the.
Speaker 1 (55:17):
Weight loss, right, but but I mean people, you know
how sometimes when I saw it, because you can't believe
anything anymore. So when I saw it, I actually thought
that it was not a real picture of.
Speaker 2 (55:30):
Dwayne the Rock. Correct, Yeah, I thought somebody had tampered
with it.
Speaker 8 (55:35):
But I'm Smashing Machine.
Speaker 9 (55:36):
But in the Smashing Machine he's huge.
Speaker 5 (55:39):
It's like after the Smashing Machine rapped.
Speaker 2 (55:44):
Greg.
Speaker 1 (55:44):
Look at this picture right here, this is media has
this in the story the Smashing Machine.
Speaker 8 (55:48):
He's huge.
Speaker 9 (55:49):
He's playing I forget I should know who he's playing.
He's playing a UFC legend.
Speaker 5 (55:52):
I can't say this looks real?
Speaker 9 (55:54):
Yeah yeah, And and now as that movie is coming
out at all these premieres, he's looking really really thin
compared to hisself.
Speaker 1 (56:01):
Right yeah, yes, let's see in the movie, and he
quits steroids.
Speaker 8 (56:05):
Chicken Man, Chicken Man, Chicken Man.
Speaker 2 (56:09):
Okay, okay, chicken Man.
Speaker 5 (56:11):
Smashing Machine is getting a good smash.
Speaker 8 (56:14):
He's gonna play chicken Man in the upcoming film Lizard Music.
Speaker 5 (56:19):
Mark Kerr's fine, We're all over the road right now,
I'm reading it.
Speaker 2 (56:23):
We can't get the rock.
Speaker 8 (56:25):
But I just knew he had lost weight for a
movie role, and I didn't know what it was. But
he'll portray Chicken Man in the movie Lizard Music. Okay,
it's based on a novel, so.
Speaker 2 (56:35):
That's not about an MMA fighter. That's another movie.
Speaker 9 (56:38):
No The one that just came out is The Smashing Machine,
in which he plays mm a legend, Mark Kerr.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
And then Chicken Man is another movie that he might
be getting thin for, right right.
Speaker 8 (56:50):
It's funny. He had to bulk up thirty pounds for
the Smashing Machine and then he had to slim down
for the other role.
Speaker 2 (56:57):
Okay, that long.
Speaker 9 (56:59):
You can't say that big that long.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
I have your heart, you know that firsthand?
Speaker 5 (57:02):
Right look at me, I'm getting smaller.
Speaker 10 (57:05):
Is the Rick Burgers Show, no screener, just live action.

In regard to the gentleman that was looking for a
solution for getting up to go to the bathroom recently
had a medical procedure. When I woke up, they had
fitted me with a condom that had.
Speaker 17 (58:23):
A tube attached to it.
Speaker 11 (58:25):
That took care of the whole problem.
Speaker 8 (58:27):
Well, you know what, thank you, sir, and UH did
nothing out here that thank you so much. They got
here condom in two in the same sense, right, and
you repeated it, Yeah, just repeating it right. By the way,
have you ever have you ever noticed a discarded one
in a place you thought, I wonder.
Speaker 2 (58:44):
What happened here? Yeah, right behind the Rick and Bubba

maybe later. Rick Bird's Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 14 (59:32):

of that works. Maybe you can give me some insight.
This is mainly for Adler. Adler, Buddy, I love you,

the clips he's doing. God, I love Charlie Kirk. I
love all that, and give me more. But in between,
(01:00:17):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (01:00:18):
You're talking about the commercials.
Speaker 2 (01:00:20):
Yeah, it was too long as I was, I was
sitting there. It's it's Friday.
Speaker 5 (01:00:24):
Was he talking about the commercial?
Speaker 8 (01:00:25):
He mentioned music?
Speaker 5 (01:00:26):
He did mention music?
Speaker 2 (01:00:27):
Yeah, just email Adler directly. Yeah. Rick Burgess show, unscreen

Speaker 8 (01:00:41):
Yes or no?
Speaker 12 (01:00:42):
On?
Speaker 16 (01:00:42):
Should he use the little John? I think we all
know the right response, and it's uh yeah, okay.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
I don't even know why I'm laughing, but it made
me laugh.
Speaker 9 (01:00:56):
A little John the rapper says, yeah.
Speaker 8 (01:00:58):
Little pretty good.
Speaker 2 (01:01:00):

Speaker 1 (01:01:00):
Okay, okay, Rick Burgers show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 5 (01:01:06):
Can I spond? I have a joke for y'all. But first,
can I sponsor somebody?
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Can you sponsor somebody?
Speaker 8 (01:01:12):
What does that mean?
Speaker 9 (01:01:13):
Rick?
Speaker 11 (01:01:14):
Shout out spot.
Speaker 2 (01:01:16):
If you're gonna sponsor him, you better have some money, right?
Uh yeah, yeah, go ahead, give a shout out? Sure
or the recovery.
Speaker 5 (01:01:23):
Cann is the ball and now's by joke. Rod the
chicken cross the road. Pretty good, good delivery. That's good delivery.
Speaker 12 (01:01:36):
Good job.
Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
The shout out, the shout out you kind of fun,
but I couldn't eve understand.
Speaker 5 (01:01:40):
What you said, no idea what he said.
Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
But the chicken joke was funny.
Speaker 8 (01:01:43):
Hey, River's gonna love that joke.
Speaker 1 (01:01:47):
Rick Burgers Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 16 (01:01:51):
Yeah, I wonder get all his opinion on.
Speaker 1 (01:01:56):

Speaker 11 (01:02:08):

Speaker 17 (01:02:10):
I've got a good missed opportunity.
Speaker 14 (01:02:13):
Okay, uh, hemorrhoids really should have been called.
Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
All right, I know that joke, I know that joke.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
That was actually that was actually was it Gallagher? I
forget our very mule deer. I get those two confused.
One of them did that joke and it was fantastic.
I'm gonna go mute there.
Speaker 2 (01:02:34):
Yeah, no, I think it was actually Rick. He's too
busy busting watermelon and.
Speaker 1 (01:02:39):
He said the two words hemorrhoids and asteroids should be switched.
Speaker 12 (01:02:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Uh we continue. Rick Burgers Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):

of phone Rick Burgers show unscreen phone calls.
Speaker 17 (01:02:58):
Go ahead, okay, I got two questions for you, okay,
and then I'll hang up.
Speaker 11 (01:03:04):
And I listened to you.
Speaker 17 (01:03:06):
First, I want you to.
Speaker 14 (01:03:07):
Take on.
Speaker 17 (01:03:10):
A favorite on a medium roast of your busbox coffee.
And then and then the second was, uh, several years
ago y'all were taking on one of you guys there
on the post for I think it was sitting down
using the bathroom.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Oh yes, uh huh ya. Men shouldn't do well on subject.
Speaker 17 (01:03:33):
That was a game changer. I appreciate that input on that.
Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
So okay, all right, does it so for busbox Coffee
Control makround point. I would like some of you to
know this, and we love every one of you, and
this this is a blasting please. This has been one
of the more popular things we're doing now with this
unscreen phone call. But don't lose sight that we truly
(01:03:57):
are We're not just saying we're handing you a show
that is like right now, there's there's there's over a
million people okay at any given time that are listening
to you. It's bigger than just chatting with you.
Speaker 2 (01:04:10):
I mean, but anyway, so but really bringing it in
right and slow talkers come on down listen.
Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
Yeah, and can't quite get to it. But but anyway,
and I know it's confusing, and that's fine. Uh, medium roast.
A lot of you asked about buzzbox coffee it. We're
still doing that. Ten percent still goes to the Bronner
Burgess Memorial Fund. You can get it by going to
Burgessministries dot com. You'll see it right there at the
top of the page. Probably medium roast. I love, uh,
(01:04:37):
the medium roast. It comes from Mexico. That's good, it's
really really good.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
And uh and Brazil as well. So that that would
be the two. That that's the two.
Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
That's thank you great for your chime there, letting you
know I agree. Rick Burgess Show on screen phone calls,
go ahead, be.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
You top two.
Speaker 16 (01:04:56):
Good morning, This is Morgan. Call from Huntsville. Then listen
for a long time with my dad. Now listen on
my own.
Speaker 9 (01:05:04):
But I wanted.
Speaker 16 (01:05:07):
To bring up yesterday when you guys got an email
or something about how compared to a lot of people,
Adler's actually my favorite.
Speaker 10 (01:05:15):
Oh yes, I thought that was so funny because Adler
is one of my favorites and always has been.
Speaker 16 (01:05:21):
And y'all might regret me saying this, I might have
major life a lot harder just now.
Speaker 9 (01:05:25):
Thanks for calling. I love you, mom, Thank you for
calling so much.
Speaker 16 (01:05:31):
I want to bring up the time that he bought
his mom a mother say gift at Cracker Barrel, or
when he dug in human ways he.
Speaker 8 (01:05:43):
Show you know you being assistant coach is one of
my favorite Thank you, assistant coach.
Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
So we just had a we had a caller and
they're and they're out there, and those are the we
love Adler the best people and uh and Morgan was
given us some of his great highlights involving dealing with
open sewage and and and things of that nature, and
she said, you know, that's just what makes Adler stand out.
And so we're gonna I'm sorry we hit the hard
(01:06:15):
break there, but we're gonna stay on your phone call
ma'am as you represent the adler iites out there, and
we're gonna move right into letting Adler have the floor
because a lot of you who love him so probably
know he's taken on his first coaching endeavor, nick coach,
and he's now coaching coach soccer. Yeah, Ruby, his daughter, yes, yes,
(01:06:38):
and other small children.
Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
Yeah, kicking friendly. How's that going, coach?
Speaker 9 (01:06:42):
Well, I am basically the Bill Belichick of children age
FOURID to second grade coaching soccer. Well, I don't know
if you guys I was I was owing or I
was ohing too, or two when.
Speaker 5 (01:07:01):
I won two weeks in.
Speaker 8 (01:07:03):
A row, it's oh, buddy, can I tell you this though?
Speaker 1 (01:07:06):
Can I tell you one thing too that will help
you with the Belichick comparison. When you're standing next to Ruby,
it looks like Bill Belichick standing next to his girlfriend.
Speaker 5 (01:07:14):
Right, That's why people say that a lot of ways.
Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
Yeah, so I'd have heard about it.
Speaker 9 (01:07:19):
Yeah, Ruby's playing and my parents actually we have we
have a practice for like thirty minutes and then we
you know, we a lot of breaks, and then we
have a game for about thirty minutes.
Speaker 5 (01:07:31):
And so that's it.
Speaker 9 (01:07:32):
Wow, every Tuesday, six to seven.
Speaker 2 (01:07:36):
So you're trying to be hip.
Speaker 9 (01:07:38):
My parents actually came to see me.
Speaker 2 (01:07:40):
Oh watch you, coach.
Speaker 9 (01:07:42):
Well, like I said, they probably came to see Ruby, really,
but it felt like they were coming to see me.
Speaker 2 (01:07:47):
But you're their boy, You're one of their sons.
Speaker 5 (01:07:50):
I guess now, that I think about.
Speaker 9 (01:07:52):
They were actually coming to see their grandchild play, soccer said,
or could have been seen me, coach both.
Speaker 1 (01:07:57):
Let me tell you something that your little mama, who
carried you in her womb, she came to see her son.
Speaker 2 (01:08:03):
Coach. Yeah, and your daughter was a bonus as a grandparent.
I made him proud. Did you no?
Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
We lost?
Speaker 9 (01:08:13):
I was undefeated my entire career until this week.
Speaker 8 (01:08:17):
It's been a couple Finally, did you tell your parents?
Speaker 5 (01:08:20):
I couldn't count and I made a mistake.
Speaker 2 (01:08:24):
I made a mistake.
Speaker 9 (01:08:26):
It's it's the mid season grind. You guys know about it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:29):
Oh yeah, yeah, you know.
Speaker 9 (01:08:32):
You come out hot, you get two big wins. Now
all of a sudden, things your routine, all of a sudden,
you forget about what I like to call the process.
I came up, came up with it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
That's a good name.
Speaker 5 (01:08:49):
And that yeah, I mean it was it was.
Speaker 9 (01:08:53):
I took more water breaks than I can think. It's like,
all right, four minutes, all right, four minutes. That's that's
enough of of this. Let's go take a water break.
There's anything to get these kids, kids in it. But boy,
you can tell that they weren't really in that mid
season slump where it's just like it becomes routine and
you forget about excellence.
Speaker 2 (01:09:12):
Just coming on the field.
Speaker 9 (01:09:13):
The next thing they know they run through was like
a tin horn.
Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 5 (01:09:19):
Quote Nick Saban. Yeah, I said, if you're not first,
your last, I could tell you three year old girl.
Speaker 2 (01:09:25):
Hey.
Speaker 8 (01:09:26):
The clip of Saban saying that is hilarious, fantastic.
Speaker 2 (01:09:30):
But I was.
Speaker 9 (01:09:31):
I was oddly nervous. My my mom's dad, my grandfather.
Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
Was a pee pee coach, football coach her whole life.
Speaker 9 (01:09:38):
It's so like you, guys, pressure coaching and coaching runs
in the Fama blood bloodlines, That's right. So I was
nervous about my parents being there, and I was also
nervous because my phone wasn't working and I had no time.
She's I felt lost out there. In fact, I got
(01:10:00):
lost on the way to the place, and I thought
about your dad, Rick and Greg, because you know the saying,
why would I go anywhere if I don't know where
I'm going? Yeah, traffic because normally when I go to
church on Sunday mornings, traffic's not an issue. So I
have a normal way that I go to church at
Hope Community Church on Tuesdays when this is rush hour,
during the five o'clock hour. I'm trying to get there,
(01:10:21):
so I go a different way, but I've only done
that once before.
Speaker 5 (01:10:26):
And I'm like, I'll go my new way.
Speaker 9 (01:10:28):
And then I get on the road and I realize
I don't have my phone, I don't have my GPS,
and I'm like, I think this is what I did
last week. And Ruby and Ezra, who I've got both
of them with me, by the way. They're screaming at
me the whole time. And Ruby's so aware. I wish
she was less aware. I wish my daughter was more
stupid than she is, because she is like, Daddy, are
you sure you know where you're going, daddy? Because it
(01:10:49):
seems like you you seem unsure about yourself.
Speaker 5 (01:10:51):
Daddy, I don't know.
Speaker 9 (01:10:52):
And I'm like, well, kid, you're very observant, because yeah,
I think the golf course was on this side of
the road.
Speaker 5 (01:10:57):
As we go, and y'all, I pull.
Speaker 2 (01:11:00):
The coach got lost. I didn't know, and.
Speaker 9 (01:11:02):
Then I hold this road that I was trying to bypass,
right in the middle of traffic, and then I turned
the wrong way on that road, giving myself more traffic.
Speaker 5 (01:11:10):
I had to double back.
Speaker 9 (01:11:11):
I rolled up. My parents had already been there for
like ten minutes. I rolled up at one minute till
practice was supposed to start.
Speaker 2 (01:11:17):
I throw.
Speaker 9 (01:11:19):
I throw Ezra because Ezra's two. He can't play yet.
He's a little bit mad about that. But it's like, buddy,
you you you you, you have a.
Speaker 5 (01:11:25):
Poopy diaper on. You can't do this.
Speaker 2 (01:11:26):
You pulled up practice.
Speaker 5 (01:11:29):
Yes, yes, it was terrible. I felt so bad.
Speaker 9 (01:11:31):
I felt so bad, But it was because I got lost,
because I did m GPS, because I'm stupid, unlike your
dad that said, why would I go anywhere when I
don't where I'm going?
Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
Right?
Speaker 5 (01:11:38):
What I literally thought about him on the way. By
the way, I thought about your dad.
Speaker 9 (01:11:42):
I'm saying that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
Now, think about what he thought about you pulled it
up one minute before practice.
Speaker 5 (01:11:45):
Horrible.
Speaker 9 (01:11:46):
I throw Ezra to my parents and then we get
out on the field. We're warming up in stretch and
we do all our stuff, and that's when it hits me.
Speaker 5 (01:11:51):
Mid season slump is gonna be a.
Speaker 1 (01:11:54):
You can almost when you look over there, and you
look over there and these players are like you can
almost see it, right they're eating their gummies.
Speaker 2 (01:12:01):
You're like, y'are not focused.
Speaker 9 (01:12:03):
I am not joking. The team scored, and I look
over and my team is sitting down on the field,
sitting down to it. Hey, hey eagles, let's flap our wings.
Let's get back up. Y'all come on, and we got
three minutes. Please give me three minutes. They're sitting on
the field. We had three goalies at one point. We
don't need three goalies. I know, y'all just want to
(01:12:24):
stand there and still, I see what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
Don't want to.
Speaker 5 (01:12:29):
You would think let me, you would think, let me
ask you. I mean, just look looking at it, just
looking at it.
Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Go didn't you say each week you have like different
players and it's what's so really?
Speaker 9 (01:12:41):
No, But it's I'm still me. I'm still coaching the team.
Speaker 5 (01:12:43):
I should be able to bring any team like you
like it.
Speaker 2 (01:12:47):
And then all of a sudden they're not on your
team next And I.
Speaker 8 (01:12:50):
Was going to work the projects tough.
Speaker 5 (01:12:51):
I was learning it is.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
It is.
Speaker 9 (01:12:53):
It's like the transfer portal. Every week, it's going nuts.
You know, when you're leaving the practice and you're like, okay,
I learned more kids names this week. I felt like
I learned less. I left the thing, and I'm like,
and it's a church league. So you got all these
biblical names, you know, like Josiah and Hezekiah, and I'm like,
Malachi esther job, Nick, get over here, guys around, let's go,
(01:13:16):
let's go. And it's just guys, I'm you gotta watch
your cousin. Yeah, and I can and you can't cut language.
So my my speech is all messed up like it
is on the air here always because it's you.
Speaker 8 (01:13:30):
Know, you were flustered, and so you get out a
mess press and you know, and you know too that
your mom and dad were sitting there going wow.
Speaker 9 (01:13:38):
So coaches, wow, So this is how he does everything?
Speaker 8 (01:13:40):
And you're thinking, you're thinking, this is this is what
it is. This has not been the case.
Speaker 2 (01:13:45):
I've been on town.
Speaker 9 (01:13:46):
And I've been fifteen minutes early every week, and then
my parents get there and I get lost our way
because carl.
Speaker 5 (01:13:51):
Bone was busted.
Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
And you know, I know, did your dad do that
thing he does when he feels bad for people? And
you used the word budd a lot, Hey, Bud, It's okay, Bud.
Speaker 2 (01:14:00):
Did he give you.
Speaker 9 (01:14:02):
I'm just used to I think he's been calling me
Bud since I was born, right, Hey Bud, Yeah, Hey
big dog, Hey Champ, champ, anybody if you could call
somebody champ or sport. It's like Einstein. They don't mean
it like where to go Einstein. They don't think you're
really smart if they go like, hey Champ, they don't
think you're a champion of anything. And my team was
(01:14:25):
not a champion this last week. So we got to
get back on the honky, or get on the get
back on the carousel or whatever it is.
Speaker 8 (01:14:32):
It's not honky. No, it's not honky. Okay that please
tell me that. What in your post game speech?
Speaker 5 (01:14:37):
Get back on the honky? You kids?
Speaker 9 (01:14:40):
It's about a process, and right now y'all are looking
like a tin horn out here.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
No, I didn't.
Speaker 9 (01:14:45):
Say any of that.
Speaker 8 (01:14:46):
In my mind.
Speaker 2 (01:14:47):
I thought, get back on the horse.
Speaker 9 (01:14:49):
On the horse.
