Speedy, Greg and Adler also here America say hello to them.
We go Audi, howdy we have we have so much
to unpack today. Lord willing. I'll leave the show today
and I will head to the great state of Texas.
(02:25):
Don't miss with Texas, And of course I'll be traveling
with Wingo.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
It's going to be a strange combination because.
Speaker 4 (02:35):
I will travel with the two men who I have
great respect for, but they come from different places. I'll
be taking with us, and it's Wingo and me who
One of the misunderstood things about Wingo is he's got
to touch a practical joker to him too. It's a
different style. It's a different style, but we're taking a
(02:56):
person I don't want to exaggerate, who may possibly be
more sensitive to secondhand embarrassment than speedy. Wow, it's almost terminal.
It may be he struggles.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
He does.
Speaker 4 (03:11):
At least you can get through a video. He can't
get through videos. He'll just text I'm out. I tried
to describe to him the time that the bathroom profit
tried to teach me the Book of Hebrews while I
was sitting on the toilet, and he couldn't hear the story.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
He just walked away. See, I want to hear the
end of the story.
Speaker 4 (03:27):
I know, just you're the opposite, and I do I
feel the anxiety. I feel it, but I want to
stay there with it. I don't know that he feels it.
You feel numb to it. To me, you love it,
I guess, yeah, so I could have that for one day.
So put this way. I don't watch the voice except
on the chair part. Since that's over with, I never
watched it again.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Okay, that's everything you should know about yourself.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
I don't like the singing. I don't like the way
they do it. They drag it out too one and
they can they do it too many times a year,
you know. Okay, these titles once a year, and I
will tell you about this, this turning chair thing.
Speaker 3 (03:58):
Though. I can't get enough of that.
Speaker 6 (04:01):
Brutal that's I don't know what that's like.
Speaker 7 (04:08):
I'm with Greg.
Speaker 8 (04:09):
I like the more awkward big group, like the beginning
of The Golden Bachelor, for example, when you've got all
the contestants in there and the awkwardness.
Speaker 7 (04:19):
Just keeps flying.
Speaker 8 (04:20):
You got weirdos, and then at the end that you
try to get all serious like it's a real love
story and all that, and you're like, this is not
a real love story.
Speaker 7 (04:27):
So yeah, I'm with you on that.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Okay, that's funny. When they were getting out of the limo,
it dawned on me.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I said, oh, speed, he needs I know we talk
about the voice and needs to see he needs to
see this.
Speaker 3 (04:37):
Also, I think I now, I think I want to
be with him. I think I'm in.
Speaker 4 (04:44):
Between the two extremes. Okay, I think I'm kind of
like the person. There's some people that they can handle pain,
and then there's people that don't feel pain. And so
I think I'm more of the I can handle pain,
but I do feel it, you.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Know, I'll stay there.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
I stay there and I feel it, and there's there's
even a I think there's a moment. There's always a
moment I want to turn it off or turn away,
and I stay. But I'm not enjoying it. I think
Adlin Gregor enjoyed it, yeah, to a little bit. I
mean I feel the but I kind of have I
kind of have the car wreck mentality about it. I
can't take my eyes off of it, but I'm very
(05:22):
uncomfortable about it. Do you know how when weedy in
them they wish they had never seen.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Do you remember how when we hit our fifties, Ricked,
we somehow developed allergies.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
Yes, you know, and it was weird, really strange.
Speaker 6 (05:32):
I've never had allergies and suddenly one day I cut
the yard and I came in, I was all snotty
and messed up.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
And start wearing a mask. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (05:39):
And some people say as you as you age, you
can develop secondhand a little bit. And I've study and
I've seen you kind of turn the corner just slightly
to where I'm not saying, you know, you feel sorry
for someone or you become embarrassed for someone, because that's
what it is. You're uncomfortable, like all of a sudden,
(06:01):
you're that person and you're not, so you have that feeling,
and it's just it's it's just so uncomfortable. I've noticed
that a couple of times you have reacted the way
I would and and.
Speaker 3 (06:13):
It's it's that end that's kind of new. It isn't
very new.
Speaker 4 (06:16):
Right, And and I think that now I still love
to be the person that torments people with secondhand embarrassment.
Which that's bad news for Andy, right because I figure,
first of all, if you do men's ministry, you're signing
up for awkward, okay. So, and and Andy the fact
that he's done a bunch of youth ministry and still
does well a good bit of it.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
But that was his base.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
And then we both journeyed into men's ministry together. And
there's nothing more awkward than men's ministry. You will you
will meet, You'll get put in some of the most
awkward situations. And I've had some doozies. Yeah, okay, So
the fact that I have wing Goo drafting with me,
I don't see. Wing Goo can go one or two ways.
He can be all in or he can say, hey,
stop all this fools, We're here to challenge and disciple men.
(07:03):
And then he takes his his very very strong hand
and he'll he'll torpedo you right into.
Speaker 3 (07:08):
The neck bone and and and and say that's enough
of that.
Speaker 6 (07:12):
So so I don't know, Well, like the van van
ride to one of our man church conference events, he
was the instigator.
Speaker 3 (07:19):
He I mean, he was the one.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
You don't know which way he gonna go. For some reason,
He's unpredictable when it comes to this, So he may
shut it all down and say, hey, we need to
be get serious, or he may go let's make Andy struggle. Yeah,
so I'm hoping for the latter. I don't think that's
the right.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Way to go.
Speaker 8 (07:38):
You talking about Alabama's finest.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Mm hmm, right here there is there he is right,
there's old.
Speaker 8 (07:44):
Wait for the Tide, played for the pack? What can
he pokes people in their neck bones? What can he do?
Speaker 7 (07:51):
He's such a cool guy, he's such.
Speaker 6 (07:53):
A nice So here's what I said, Because you have
an amazing ability, Rick to just start conversations with someone
and like characters and and do it with a straight face.
I'm gonna need that. And then acting like Andy is
into something he's not like. You know, so you'll start
talking to somebody and suddenly you find out they're into
I don't know, you two u TV mud riding, trail
(08:16):
riding or something I've just made I don't know, because
there's people that go out on the weekends and do that,
and I go, well, you know, yeah, Andy's he's into that.
Speaker 3 (08:23):
Andy, where's the last place you've been? Absolutely?
Speaker 4 (08:25):
You know, something like that? That just made up a
top I think at the hotel. I'll also do what
you're good at. You're good at whatever, you're really you're
really good at this. Uh, you're the best as a
matter of fact, this And I've learned from you. I
will definitely do some elevator humor with him. Okay, good, Yeah,
so Andy, so what did the doctor finally say that?
Speaker 9 (08:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (08:46):
Yeah, yeah, so the doctor said, what you get a
shot one? And right there in front of strangers and
watch him struggle, And.
Speaker 6 (08:54):
I think the most uncomfortable moment we've ever had in
an elevator where we did something like that was it
was somethingthing about a prosthetic or something losing a limb,
and we didn't realize the person in the elevator was
getting off on that floor and has had lost some
limb something that.
Speaker 3 (09:08):
They did not have, the very limb we were pretending
not that right, Oh, we didn't know it.
Speaker 4 (09:13):
You look up and go try about that man, because
what what Speedy knows?
Speaker 3 (09:17):
Me? What Speedy knows.
Speaker 4 (09:18):
If I'm in the elevator with him and he decides
to do that with me, I give a full story.
Yeah yeah, I jumped right in. Oh boy, but see
Andy won't He'll fold like a cup and he'll sweat.
So I can't wait. Of course, Rick, you're going to
do something. This is probably more important.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
Right pray?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Yeah, sometimes, so your first reaction to going to small
town Texas is I bet there's some awkward people there.
I can make Andy uncomfortable with Yeah, that seems like that.
That shouldn't be the priority. Sadly, you can join us tomorrow,
all three of us, if you're there in that area, Beaumont,
Orange Texas, around there to be at first Baptist Church,
Orange Texas. Speedy will not be there, but Andy Blanks will,
(10:04):
Andy Blanks, Rich Wingo and I all three speaking will
start at eight in the morning tomorrow, and then we'll
have you out there by lunch, So make plans.
Speaker 3 (10:14):
Will be with us if you haven't already, we'll be
right back.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Go ahead, admit it.
This show has started to grow on you, isn't it
the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 4 (10:39):
You may not be telling everybody you're listening, but you are,
and we're glad. Thank you for being with us. You
can keep it to yourself if you want to, that's cool.
We're just glad you're here. The gang all here today too, Speedy,
Greg Adler, and we got exciting show ahead. The box
seats will fill later. Burgess Ball battle Boy. That wheel's
(11:02):
been hot, boy, it's been hot. So we'll see what
goes on, so you can win that coming up a
little bit later on, we'll meet them and converse with them.
Speaker 3 (11:11):
Uh so, uh, we we do have.
Speaker 4 (11:14):
Adler's got to leave a little bit early today on
the program, but but we will, we will forge ahead.
Uh but you will still get to see him for
the majority of the show, So you guys, don't not
don't worry about that. Okay, a couple of things that
we need to discuss. First of all, let me let
me make sure I've got this right. And because I
(11:35):
sent Gregor, I've got a buddy that just sent me.
Do you remember the guy and he's the husband wife
that I told you that why they started going to
church with us. They were in our Sunday school class.
Can't call it, can't go call it a life group,
I'm sorry, Sunday school class. And we we discovered pretty
quick when we begin to fellowship with them that we
(11:56):
weren't smart enough to be their friends. Oh yeah, So
the husband who still listens to the show interesting and
they had to move unfortunately, but they're over in Georgia
now and he catches the show on the tune in
app and podcast archive. His quote to me was I
just sent something that I think Greg is going to like,
(12:17):
I am looking at it or I looked at it yesterday,
took a picture.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
Greg.
Speaker 4 (12:22):
Why would you think that this man who's really, really smart,
would think you would be thrilled that he's got a
picture of William Herschel's telescope.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Why do you think that is I'm not sure he.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Has a picture of the actual actual telescope. Why do
you think that would be a big to you? What
do you think this guy did with this telescope?
Speaker 3 (12:46):
You found Uranus? Correct? He discovered the planet Uranus in.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
Actually I went space went okay, what do we talk
about in spacelight?
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Well Uranus? That's right.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
So this is the guy this response telescope that looked
at Uranus. There it is, and I appreciate him thinking
of it.
Speaker 7 (13:08):
Yeah, he'sa telescope is the first one to see Urine.
Yeah yeah, wow, Majory chills. I have chills.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
He looked through it, and you know what I think
I see This is the quote from my God it.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
I'm not trying to get ahead of myself, but I'm
looking through this telescope and.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
I'm pretty sure I see your.
Speaker 4 (13:32):
We go the quote the quote is I thought I
would send a picture of Greg's favorite astronomers telescope it is.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
That's so good.
Speaker 4 (13:40):
That's the one that did it. There there, it is
right there. I appreciate it. Yeah, I'm having a fantastic
man of his intelligence could go there, think about looking
through that and going, yeah, look there's your angeing.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
So this, I think I see your aine. Come here,
come here, look at this.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Look at that?
Speaker 7 (13:55):
Is that youuratus?
Speaker 4 (13:56):
They said that as you see the drawing of how
big it whole thing was.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
What what we're looking at the telescope? What we're looking at.
Speaker 4 (14:04):
Is it is forty forty feet of This was the
remaining section of what was a forty foot.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Oh William helescope.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
So there is one section seventeen eighty one. It was
the largest in the world at the time and cost
over four thousand dollars paid for by King George. The
Third Wow completed in seventeen eighty nine.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
What did he want to look at your ainus for?
Speaker 7 (14:30):
Well, it's says I think they were surprised by your anas.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
Yeah, he came back to the king.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
He came back to the king and in an awkward moment,
said I believe I've looked at uranus.
Speaker 3 (14:41):
So if you were beheaded, if you discovered me. He
was talking about, can you name it if you discover it.
Speaker 6 (14:48):
Like, if you discover it, you can get right then? Yeah,
so he named it that he discovered it. But who said,
hey that, let's name it your ai? What we call
it your ainus?
Speaker 3 (14:57):
By the way, I love it. I love these little
did bits in here.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Sadly, Herschel did not use the Great Telescope for much
serious astronomy, since it was difficult to set up and maintain,
meaning it was a hassle. His son had it dismantled
in eighteen forty.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I guess because it was it wasn't worth it.
Speaker 4 (15:14):
It went worth all the trouble, and it was destroyed
when a tree fell on it thirty years later. Oh wow,
so this is just the piece that's left. Okay, so wow,
I'm excited speaking of that.
Speaker 8 (15:26):
They wanted to continue because William Herschel actually to honor
King George the Third, who, like you said, paid for
the thing, initially for the telescope, initially called it George's Star.
Oh boy, and like then.
Speaker 3 (15:39):
The forest, how do you go from that to your Aina?
Speaker 8 (15:42):
I know, well, they wanted to go with foreign astronomers,
wanted to continue the tradition of classic mythology, and so
they proposed the name of the Greek god of the sky.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Your okay.
Speaker 6 (15:56):
So speaking of this, this whole conversation show, So Terry
had colon hospital after the speed.
Speaker 7 (16:03):
Uh the speedy and willburn.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
Probably not a good charge.
Speaker 6 (16:08):
It was just time, you know, I mean, it's just
everybody's at the age you gotta do that.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
And uh.
Speaker 6 (16:13):
And so my instructions were after the show to her
mom took her and then I was to get there
and then wait for everything to finish up and then
and then you know, get her home. So so Terry,
Terry told me that going in, uh that going into
the hospital that hey, here's the look as they were
(16:35):
taking before they took her back. I meant, uh that, hey,
here's the number. This is who's gonna call you. And
after it's over, the doctor is going to call you
and go over everything and then take you where.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
To pick me up and all that.
Speaker 6 (16:45):
I'm like, okay, So the doctor calls and after the procedure,
hey she did great, blah blah blah, everything's fine.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
And and so Terry comes out and she's, you know,
she's kind of getting out out of the an anesthesia
and so she's not quite right, but she's she's okay,
but she's just a little goofy and hey whatever, you know,
life is great. And I said, uh, you would love
this delivery too. I said, uh, we're going home. And
(17:13):
I said, hey, the doctor called me and went over everything,
and she said, really what what did what did she say?
And I said, she said you had a cute little
booty and she said she said that she believe and
I said, yeah, she said she said she said that you, uh,
you were doing well in that department. And uh, she
said she what doctor would say that?
Speaker 3 (17:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (17:36):
Are you serious? Because she was just so loopy. Yeah,
you know, I mean she wasn't like I'm coming out
of a dentist going you know, all that. It was
just a little just a bit, a little bit and yeah, Lee.
I let that go for about five or ten minutes,
and then if we were coming home, and she said,
I can't believe she said that. I said, I'm not kidding, baby,
she never said that. And then she said what Our
(17:58):
wives asked a lot what's wrong with?
Speaker 3 (18:00):
What is wrong?
Speaker 9 (18:00):
With you.
Speaker 4 (18:00):
Why would you do that to me? Tell me right then?
You said, well, honey, here's the good news. It's all
behind you now.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
I told her.
Speaker 6 (18:07):
I said, yeah, I agreed with her, and we had
a conversation about it. She said, what d y'all id.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
You talked to you about? You talked to her about
the error? Shehead, Now, no, she was finding that department. Really,
I told her. She said it was something weird with you, Ricky.
They blow air up in there. You got a lot
of air. You gotta get out.
Speaker 6 (18:26):
And she did say hey, because I told her. I said,
my only request the doctor was before I'm out.
Speaker 3 (18:31):
I don't the.
Speaker 6 (18:31):
Last thing I want to see, like Jerald Case at
that time, I don't want to see my butt on
that mine.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
That's what he claimed.
Speaker 7 (18:39):
That planet.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
No, because.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 4 (18:48):
TV super important? Now, don't don't you feel that? When
you when you like you hear the stories we go through. Okay,
you hear the stories we go through here on the program,
You're like, wow, it can be and we try not to.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
If we did every single story every.
Speaker 4 (19:01):

Speaker 4 (20:14):
Thank you for being with us today. We are hanging
out having a blast as always, and we just invite
you to kind of enjoy to enjoin us as we
hang out.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
I don't want to be Debbie Downer, but I'm about
to talk about taxes.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
I know it's not one of our favorite topics, but
if you're out there, and you've got a taxt issue.
That means that you are now being pursued by the
world's largest collection agency. Three letters for you I R
s that can give you I B s. But let
(20:53):
me tell you this. There is hope. That's our friends
at US tax Shield. The Better Business Bureau says this
about US tax Shield A plus A plus A plus
so and what they do. They become your advocate and
then they go to the RS on your behalf say hey,
are bad, y'all, come on out. We guide us and
(21:17):
we're going to talk. Let's let's work this thing out.
The government wants to resolve it as much as you do,
and you might qualify for some government programs that allow
you to be good with the government at the lowest
possible amount. So talk to them and let the folks,
the experts at US tax Shield help you. One eight
(21:40):
hundred seven sixty nine seven three four zero. Hey, resolve this.
I don't I don't want to be the Hey burd
his Friday ease up, but you know, because I don't
want to violate the Friday rule. But they can actually
garnish your wages, they can sell off your property, they
can put you in jail.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
So let's get this done. If you're saying.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Burge, I didn't have time to write that number down
for US tax shield, that's cool. Go to Rick burgesshow
dot com and just look there under the sponsors there's
the number right there. Okay, So big games, guys, big big, big, big, big,
big games this weekend and college football. I know some
of you aren't into it. We are and we try to.
(22:20):
We try to just you know, calm down, cuddles and
not overdo it, but we we are excited about it.
So here are some games this weekend for consideration. Number
four LSU at number thirteen Old Miss Like, that's that's
your two thirty. My goodness, that's the two thirty on
(22:40):
ABC Auburn Texas A and M Texas A and M
at number nine Auburn. It's kind of odd, you know,
when you're in the world where a loss didn't feel
that bad. I mean, some ugly things happen, but there,
I think if you're an Auburn fan, because as every Saturday,
(23:01):
any given Saturday, put it beautifully. When they're good, they're
really good, and when they're bad, they're really bad. I
think you were like, going is the team just like
really bad, and then you're kind of like they're pretty good,
you know they they didn't they were They went into
that game and beat the inferior teams like they should
beat Baylor. That's that's a that's a decent program, and
(23:24):
they competed with Oklahoma and had a chance to win.
So you're almost feeling like, okay.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
You know, Jerry still, it's okay, but.
Speaker 4 (23:33):
I didn't like us getting sacked ten times, but probably
holding the ball a little bit. Let's get the ball out.
But anyway, so Texas A and M, we don't know
what to do with you. We think you should win,
be in the running for a national championship, and then
you just fade away.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
So now they're three and oh big win against Notre Dame. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
So so those are two fan bases that never really
know what they have. And so this Saturday, maybe each
fan base will find something out about their team.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
L s U O Miss.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
We're gonna find out about both of these teams. LSU's defense,
athletic and impressive offense has potential to be explosive, but hasn't.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Lived up to the hype.
Speaker 4 (24:14):
When you got a hoss quarterback like that who he says,
I'm gonna fore go the NFL and State. A lot
of people didn't think that was gonna happen, so old
miss you know Lane Kiffin. By the way, a lot
of you have watched that special I was talking about.
Now funny, I didn't know about the hot yoga scene
that's on me. I joined it after that already happened.
I would have given your warning if I know. Somebody said, hey, Bird,
(24:37):
you didn't want us about a hot yoga scene. I said,
I didn't see it. I didn't know about it.
Speaker 3 (24:41):
I guess I don't know hot yoga. I'm not opposed
to gold yog. I don't believe it's really hot in
the room.
Speaker 8 (24:47):
You sweat a bunch. It's great for your bones and must.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
Tissue.
Speaker 4 (24:51):
To you my Ohio State, Washington, I'm not sure Washington's
ready for Ohio State. Even though Washington you can rise
up and beat people. Uh speedy for you. You'll find
out about how state's having a great year. Hell State,
I think you have a great coach when you take
that first season and see how much improvement. Yeah, oh yeah,
(25:15):
they've made Wow. But they're playing Tennessee. They're playing Tennessee.
Tennessee is loaded. Yeah, well they're good, they're disappointed.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
Good.
Speaker 4 (25:24):
Everybody believes they should have beat Where is it at Georgia?
Speaker 3 (25:27):
Including Kirby Smart? Yeah, it's in Startful.
Speaker 6 (25:30):
It's in his start But did y'all know that this
has been a big part of my week and probably
not why you think it has been. And that is
that all the balls fans have been emailing me on
where to eat.
Speaker 10 (25:40):
Oh yeah, and it's even funny.
Speaker 6 (25:43):
It all goes back to food. Yeah, And so I've
been giving them where to go. I mean it's a
no brainer. And so hopefully all have a great trip
to Startful. Yeah, and you know we were there three fifteen.
Speaker 4 (25:54):
I think we were there for four years with with
Big Love. So we we found all the great places
dat too, and then we get into the evening folks,
and boy, buckle up. Here we go Alabama, Georgia huge, Oregon,
Penn State huge.
Speaker 3 (26:10):
And that's where game day will be.
Speaker 4 (26:11):
We talked about that. Yeah, well I meant number six
versus number three. I mean, you can't really fault them
for being there. But CC guys will be at Georgia
bamac nation. Yeah, I know, we here think that the
whole wide world revolves around the SEC.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
But it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
I mean should I mean when you when you're going
to go to the two highest ranked teams that are
playing each other, it's Oregon Penn State.
Speaker 3 (26:35):
I know that's fine.
Speaker 6 (26:37):
And and look a lot of our affiliates are also
in this region. Indiana is at Iowa. That's four and
oh versus three and one on on NBC India.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
That's a big one.
Speaker 4 (26:46):
Send a message last week either either they are real,
real good or Illinois was way over rate. Right, Yeah,
let me see that they might be a combination of both.
That's just a lot of stuff on They made ILLINOI
it like a pretender.
Speaker 3 (26:58):
Yeah, then you got the right cup again. I saw
that little thing you tried to direct message me. You
love that? Yeah.
Speaker 4 (27:07):
I had to be paying attention and saw it come through,
and I said, what does he sending me?
Speaker 11 (27:10):
Man?
Speaker 4 (27:10):
As soon as I clicked it, it was some motivational rider
cup thing.
Speaker 3 (27:15):
I did that being a warrior in there. Whenever I
send it to you, I just want you to know.
I was laughing. I said, this is going to be
You got coach O down there working the crowd.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
Oh yeah, are y'all interested in all in us looking
at this and kind of giving some idea how you
think these are going to go. I mean, our predictions
mean nothing, but I mean because we don't even know.
Speaker 6 (27:37):
So predictions can't be mojo. Can we all be clear
on that. Yeah, the predictions just a prediction.
Speaker 4 (27:41):
Yeah, I agree, right, yeah, okay, all right, so so
let's let's run them.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
Notre Dame Arkansas is a little bit interesting, but but
I'm not Arkansas feels like they're they're mad at everybody's mad,
nobody's happy. You're a good team, but you can't quite
get it all together. So so Notre Dame Arkansas.
Speaker 6 (28:03):
I'm gonna say Arkansas upsets Notre Dame because it's at Arkansas.
Speaker 4 (28:06):
Greg, that's tempting, It is tempting. I'm going Notre Dame, Adler.
Speaker 8 (28:12):
I'm going with the fighting irishman, thank you, buddy.
Speaker 4 (28:17):
I'm gonna draft with Speedy and I'm gonna go with Arkansas.
And now they're gonna be closed, but they're gonna fumble
or something. Auburn has to go to Texas A and M.
If Texas A and M was playing at Auburn, I
could be entertained by Auburn, but I think Texas A
and M at home Auburn ten Sacks, I'm still I'm
(28:44):
going with Auburn. Greg You, I'm just saying Speedy.
Speaker 6 (28:48):
My heart is saying Auburn. But I think I'm gonna
go to Texas A and M on this one.
Speaker 3 (28:52):
Adler, I know you can't go against Auburn.
Speaker 8 (28:55):
Yeah, I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go with with the
war Eagles.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
Okay, thank you, but L s U, O Miss, this
is that old miss. Now a lot about O Miss.
I haven't seen them a lot. Boy. L s U's
defense is so good. Jolly mm hmmm. I'm going, oh miss, Wow, Speedy.
Speaker 6 (29:18):
I think I'm probably gonna make some hell State fans upset,
but I think O Miss gets this one.
Speaker 3 (29:22):
Okay, Adler at.
Speaker 7 (29:24):
Home, Uh, I'm gonna go with the Auburn Tigers.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
No, that's sellings you.
Speaker 4 (29:29):
Everything can be the bat that pick Just because you
pick a bunch don't make it better.
Speaker 8 (29:33):
I'm gonna go with the tiger that looks like you
don't want to turn your back on it. Okay, yeah,
like you don't want to be, you know, in an
elevator with.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
That and plus you plus you want to be you know,
you don't want to anybody to be offended by you
being for rebels. Yeah right, okay, I'm going you know what,
I'm gonna tell you this. I don't know why, I
really don't, but I believe in O missing this one.
Speaker 3 (29:57):
I don't know why. Something just over the lane Kiff think.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
That would actually concern me, that would, But I think
lane Ken is getting his act together.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
But that's not yet. There's something about l s U.
Speaker 4 (30:12):
They're really good and and I think they have the
right coach, but there I can't he I can't make
him fit there.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Yeah, he still bothers me there.
Speaker 4 (30:21):
And I think that he can't get them through a
season unscathed. And these are the kind of games I
think L s U trips up on. They don't like
two thirty.
Speaker 3 (30:32):
So uh so Tennessee, Missippi State.
Speaker 6 (30:35):
I know, speedy. I'm sorry again. I'm just gonna vote
this one with my heart and y'all can all be
with stupid pick. But I'm just gonna have to say,
MISISIPI State. I'm gonna if you know Tennessee, I'll go
Tennessee as well.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Thank you. That's pretty quick for both of y'all.
Speaker 4 (30:47):
Yeah, I'm excited about what's happening in Missipi State. I
think you have the right guy. I totally get it,
and I think you're on the way, but you're not
ready for I totally get what y'all are saying. I
just can't. I can't. I can't say May. I should
say Tennessee, but I'm not. Yeah, and we'll see.
Speaker 7 (31:04):
So Hugh Freese has.
Speaker 8 (31:06):
Gone on record talking about the new nine game SEC schedule.
He says, at this rate, this isn't this isn't insane schedule.
Great for fans, and I understand what we got to do,
but now it's like eight and four is good, and
nine and three is really good. Ten and two years,
it's like off the charts. He actually had another request
for some other teams that he could play. If you
want to hear this really quick.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Always goes back to a well, it's just you know,
he goes goes back to I don't think Hugh sleeps well. No, No,
he needs some sunscreen.
Speaker 8 (31:36):
It's this new nine nine team SEC schedule, and he
has actually has a request for the Auburn Tigers schedule.
Speaker 6 (31:44):
Or the Packers available I mean, can we get them
and maybe the Chiefs and you know it's but then
that's funny.
Speaker 3 (31:52):
Yeah, that's you feel that way, don't you? Every every week?
Who are you picking? Tennessee and missip I.
Speaker 7 (31:58):
Mean, I gotta go Tennessee that uh or workplace?
Speaker 3 (32:01):
Best friends? Why would you do that? Sorry, buddy, Alabama, Georgia.
I'm going with Tide.
Speaker 6 (32:09):
I am gonna do this and and don't be mad
at me, Bulldog fans.
Speaker 3 (32:13):
I'm going. I'm going Alabama on this. I don't know why.
Speaker 6 (32:16):
I feel like I feel like they're they're they're ready
for a big windy.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
I love when when he starts sing. I'm going with Georgia.
Speaker 4 (32:30):
Okay, Oregon Penn State.
Speaker 6 (32:33):
This one for me is nothing but a coin flip,
nothing because I don't know anything about either one of them.
So I'm gonna go. I'm a default to a night
game at Penn State. It's gonna be crazy, probably a
white out or something, and I'm gonna go Penn State.
Speaker 3 (32:47):
I'm going to Oregon. Yeah, me too.
Speaker 8 (32:51):
Oregon. Turning Point USA is giving out five thousand Charlie
Kirk freedom shirts. The white shirt Charlie Kirk's planning to
attend this game.
Speaker 7 (33:01):
Oh he loved him and so yeah, that's something that
you will see this.
Speaker 3 (33:05):
So you're going with the working custom.
Speaker 7 (33:06):
Charlie Kirk, So freedom, I'm a big freedom guy.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
I can feel bad.
Speaker 4 (33:12):
I never believe in Penn State. They always they always
dropped one when they played a good thing.
Speaker 3 (33:16):
They would go to have one loss. But it's always
a big and this will be it.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who shaved
thirty minutes off his last road trip.
Speaker 4 (33:42):
Rick Burgess, thanks for being with US America. And guys,
y'all can't do this to Speedy. We we clearly said,
and this is clearly understanding. A pick in a game
cannot mojo somebody. Everybody's worried that if you picked their team,
they think you've mojoed them and you you Speedy does
(34:04):
not have the ability to mojo your team by simply
picking them.
Speaker 6 (34:07):
Yeah, and I don't know what this outlandish statement is either,
and they just might be having fun. Your picks always lose.
I don't know what that means. I'm the last time
I picked always.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Lose normally do every time you've got one run right.
Speaker 6 (34:19):
We're just now we're just making stuff you So Greg
also record Greg also picked Bama.
Speaker 3 (34:24):
But I guess nobody. I guess nobody heard that.
Speaker 4 (34:27):
Do you think minions are going to go after their
leader now that I told you all last week, they're
gonna win the whole thing. Greg's telling you now now
now he's having fun with with the BAMA fan base. Yeah,
So that was shocking.
Speaker 3 (34:43):
So I had.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
I don't I don't really know how to take what
happened to me yesterday in the world of handy, because
you know, I've become a little more handy.
Speaker 3 (34:55):
Uh, and you finish still doesn't make you handy. Repair
a few things.
Speaker 12 (35:00):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
Cherry's kind of feeling better now, you know. She she'll
send me a list. You know, here's some things you
might you need. Actually, actually you had that pot that
that burst I had to deal with.
Speaker 3 (35:14):
Bet you had to deal with. Uh, make a phone
call identified it.
Speaker 4 (35:20):
I talked to folks that comfort dynamics, uh, and.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
That makes them handy.
Speaker 4 (35:25):
I told the plumber that I don't think it's irrigation.
I believe it's something that's from the house. I've checked it.
It's not an irrigation problem. So I think that you
might want to address it because I think if it
had been irrigation, I would have just handled it on site.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
And h So they, uh, they they they agreed with.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Me, and I got word from show your job by
sure that it was repaired again mark off yesterday does
this job to a screwdriver in his hands yesterday? And
I had my multi purpose tool I had, I had another.
I had another handy person, carpenter, come over to the
(36:09):
house to assess our door situation. Got some doors are
an issue. If you recall, I locked myself out of
the house and I had to break into.
Speaker 3 (36:17):
My own house.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
Yeah, that's what we've all done and was nearly arrested
by simply safe. But anyways, so yeah and ruder, get
out there. What you're doing. Have I told you about
the down the screw drivers? I told you the uncomfortable moment.
Uncomfortable moment because you know, Sherry's out of town this week.
Sherry actually engaged me about the door. She said, so
(36:39):
you locked yourself out? I said, yeah, I went out
to the grill and then I had to go down
the pergola, you know, to do the final check for
the world's most massive pergola. And uh yeah, okay, so
you just went around then and went in the garage.
I said no, I had actually bolted the garage because
the combo lock been acting up, which I'll fix, don't
(37:02):
worry about it. And she said, well, how did you
get in? I said, well, I just got in? Well
how rick did you get in the house? Well, you
know that one door that's got some issues that I
think accidentally locked me out. I just I got in there.
It has more issues now she said, how did you
(37:23):
get in the door?
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Did you get principle? She said, did you get it unlocked?
Speaker 4 (37:26):
I said no, I was able to to get over
to get it open over power.
Speaker 3 (37:31):
She said how, I.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Said, I I opened it and I've got somebody coming
over to fix it. And uh so, so anyway, so
we're there and he's assessing and I'm assessing. I said,
why we're here, Let's go to all these doors that
over the years now don't work. You know, if you
if you have a house long enough because of Alabama
weather with the shrinking, expanding and all this, they get
(37:55):
to where they want shut.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
Or is this what he's told you? And you just
using his language?
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Now I know about all that, Yeah, you know, and
uh he's so. So we were talking and he's jacked.
I mean, yeah, he's one of these guys. I mean he's.
Speaker 6 (38:07):
Jacked for the handy man that's come over to fix everything, okay.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
And and of course I'll see him kind of checking
my arms out and he says uh. He says uh.
And all of a sudden he begins to talk to me,
and there's a moment where I think we're talking about steroids.
Steroids now you you class everything be handy and and
I'm like, are you suggesting I what? And he and
(38:33):
he started to asking me about it, as you tell testosterone.
Speaker 3 (38:36):
I said, well, excuse me, and and uh and so
it was the tool belt you were it was said.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
That, you know what I said to myself, dog going,
I shouldn't wear shorts, you know it? And uh and
so uh so I'm pretty sure at one point we
were talking about steroids.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
And I was like, what do you mean mean by that?
I was like, are you talking about like for men
for age? And you're talking about the low te Yeah, you're.
Speaker 7 (39:09):
Talking about like from a doctor. Are you talking about
like a from a dude on the street.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Right, I'm like, I'm about nugenics to them. This is
all I said.
Speaker 4 (39:16):
Do you suggest I talked to my doctor, you saying
you've seen some success or you want me to ask
you to get some for me that I don't know what?
Speaker 1 (39:24):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 5 (39:37):
America, Show.
Speaker 13 (39:48):
America.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Here we go, brand new hour. Thank you for being with.
Speaker 14 (39:52):
Uscasting from the real world and where we're ready to go.
Speaker 4 (40:00):
The number is eight eight eight, the number six big
Vox unscreened phone calls coming up for you, and.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
We've got the Vox seats filling up.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Later on a Burgess ball battle to come and we'll
meet each and every person, the gangs all here, Speedy,
Greg and Adler. We thank you for being with us today.
And you know when you Speeding and I were talking
about it in the break and you know, these things
seem to happen in groups, and they've happened, you know,
in different categories.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
Right now.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
You know, you look at the powerful ministry of John MacArthur,
he passes away, the powerful ministry of Charlie Kirk, he's murdered.
And then yesterday we hear that Vodie Bacham has I'm
assuming it sounds like maybe a heart attack or some
(40:54):
sort of a medical emergency and at fifty six years old,
he has now died as well. Uh so a powerful,
powerful man of God. If you're not familiar with his teaching,
I've been you know, follow following and listening to him
uh for for quite a while. He is the founding
president and Dean of Founders Seminary. He also is the
(41:19):
Dean of Theology UH at the African Christian University in
Zambia and Grace Family Baptist Church. He was he had
previously before he moved to Zambia. He had been pastor
at Spring Texas, so there and of course I'd never
I didn't know him personally. I just was enjoyed listening
(41:42):
to his sermons and watching him defend the faith as well.
And it was I had you know how you have
kind of a bucket list of you know, people you
admire and you kind of hope you have an opportunity
to maybe serve alongside them. I was actually given an opportunity.
(42:03):
And that's the reason why that you know, Jesus taught
us be careful saying you're gonna do this, and you're
gonna do that. You need to say, Lord willing, I'm
going to do this and I'm going to do that.
Nothing wrong with planning, but you need to do it
the right way.
Speaker 3 (42:16):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (42:16):
It would be next summer. I was supposed to do
a conference with Vote Bacam. Wow, and I was excited
about that opportunity. The Lord has other plans, and of course,
at what he does is always perfect and right, and
he knew this when he wove body Vodi Bacam in
his mother's womb. But here's an interesting moment Vote Bacam
(42:37):
talking about how how we should respond if we ever
hear of.
Speaker 3 (42:43):
His earthly death. So so it's just a brief moment
in one of his powerful sermons. Here we go.
Speaker 8 (42:54):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (42:57):
What nothing? Yeah did that? But the clip bom.
Speaker 7 (43:02):
Okay, I'm sorry. I was screening up another vote bocom clip.
Speaker 4 (43:05):
Oh yeah yeah, yeah, this is the one that you
send me on Instagram. No, yeah, I send it to
you in the email with a link on it from Instagram.
Speaker 8 (43:13):
Okay, yeah, that did not come through.
Speaker 7 (43:15):
I'm so sorry.
Speaker 3 (43:15):
Ray Okay, no, I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (43:17):
I thought you had it, and uh, I apologize for that.
And if I if my phone would still connect, that's
simply play it out of my phone.
Speaker 7 (43:24):
I just refreshed and here it is right here.
Speaker 15 (43:26):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (43:26):
So sorry, that's all right, It's okay, But I know
you got a lot going on in there.
Speaker 8 (43:32):
Yeah, here you go.
Speaker 16 (43:33):
Sorry about that.
Speaker 9 (43:36):
You are going to hear a rumor one day that
Vody Walkum is doing more. Don't you believe it? Don't
you believe it? Don't you believe it? Because though I die,
I will rise with Christ. It will not be the
end of me because Christ is raised, and I do
(43:58):
will be raised with Christ. That is why he is
called the firstborn from the dead. Folks, you don't talk
about a firstborn unless there's others who are born after him.
Don't you pity me? You pity the one who wants
to hold on to Jesus without holding onto the resurrection.
You pity the one who has absolutely no hope because
(44:20):
they have no resurrected Christ.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Wow wow wow. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (44:26):
And you know he also, which is how I first
connected to his teaching. Some of the principles you hear
us talking about. Of course, we didn't come up with
them with the ministry themanchurch dot com. These are principles
from the Word of God, so they aren't ours. We're
just reminding men of what scripture says about our role
(44:49):
and how we were created, and vote was always doing
the same thing. He would challenge men. Of course, he
would challenge everyone, but he would he would challenge men
and and would say some of the same things about
about the church. And you know how we attempt to
reach and disciple men by treating men like their women
(45:10):
and children, and you just can't. Men and women are equal,
but they're just beautifully distinct. So anyway, And I also
love when he said, when I think about things that
have happened with Charlie Kirk, and which is more of
an example, I mean he and John MacArthur. I mean
their bodies just gave way. Charlie Kirk, of course was murdered.
(45:31):
And he I remember one of his teachings. He said
something You've heard me reference it on the show when
he's reading what the Apostle Paul was saying to young Timothy.
And I never forget when Vodie said this, and I thought, man,
that's good.
Speaker 3 (45:45):
He goes. Let me break this down for you.
Speaker 4 (45:47):
The Apostle Paul said, I'm going to keep doing this
until they kill me, and you can then you do
it until they kill you. Yeah, that's pretty much. Yeah, uh,
and that's you know what happened. So so anyway, Vody
Bacham Uh, his earthly death has ended at fifty six.
(46:08):
But remember this, he said, when we hear, when we
hear this day, don't don't be foolish and think I'm dead,
because I'm not.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Don't pity me. Don't don't pity me.
Speaker 4 (46:18):
Pity those that don't have hope in Christ now pity them,
but don't pity me.
Speaker 3 (46:22):
So we won't.
Speaker 4 (46:23):
But we, uh, we will look at that. And you know,
when these things happen, it's the design. I mean, I
had somebody text me yesterday and they were devastated by
this and it was one of the people involved in
the conference you know that was going to happen next year.
And I just replied back to them, I said, this
is I mean, we we miss these people being here,
(46:44):
will miss their teaching, but they're not supposed to be
here forever. So what happens now they take the baton,
we take it from them, and we do.
Speaker 3 (46:53):
It and you know we we we don't.
Speaker 4 (46:56):
It's it's time for maybe somebody uh to be the
next vote Baccam, to be the next John MacArthur to be,
to be the next Charlie Kirk. You know that's that
there's always supposed to be somebody that steps in next,
just like he said about Paul and Timothy. You know,
I'm going to do this till they kill me, and
then I'll hand it to you, and you do it
till they kill you or till you die, or to
(47:19):
Jesus comes back.
Speaker 3 (47:20):
Whatever.
Speaker 4 (47:20):
So there you go. So remember that. And the beauty
that we have now with the you know, the great
theologians and teachers like that is because of modern technology.
I mean, there's a library full of his teachings that
will always be here, available to us. But the bigger
message is who's next. Next man up, Next man up.
Speaker 3 (47:45):
We'll be back.
Speaker 4 (47:46):
Our number is eight eight eight, the number six big box.
But do remember his family and friends in your prayers,
because we do have hope in Christ, and he is right,
but we also born. We just don't burn and like
those who have no hope, but we do more.
Speaker 3 (48:03):
We'll be back.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who was
(48:34):
hold enough to point out that there is no such
thing as dog ears. Dogs just don't live as long
as humans. Rick Birches.
Speaker 3 (48:44):
Here we go, America.
Speaker 4 (48:45):
Thank you for being with us today as we work
our way to another one.
Speaker 3 (48:50):
And I think it will fire you up today. I
really do.
Speaker 4 (48:53):
Adler, I think is feeling bad because he didn't have
the clip ready, and so we're not talking about a
ton more. But vote Bachmann. If you never had got
experienced any of his teaching and preaching and how God
gifted him, and the thing that the way that his
approach what certainly appealed to me, that's the kind of
(49:16):
teaching that I'm drawn to. Here's about a minute and
a half and we'll continue if some of you bring
up later or too to talk about this. But I
know that maybe some of you out there are not
as familiar. It seems like a lot of you are
because I started getting tons of you texting and our
friends texting, and then a lot of you emailing and
text nation. You were already asking about it soon as
(49:37):
the show started, so I know he did have big impact.
But if you never got to experience, here's just ninety
seconds a minute and a half of how powerful a
man of God and a gifted teacher and preacher that
he really was.
Speaker 8 (49:51):
Here we go and he's going to talk about his
rough upbringing. I honestly didn't know about vote Bakum until
till the news yesterday.
Speaker 3 (49:58):
Oh really, and so this will talk about.
Speaker 8 (49:59):
His bringing and going back to his hometown kind of
so to speak.
Speaker 9 (50:04):
Is anybody ever gone back home with those folks and
just had God put you in a closet where you
laid down on your face and said, God, thank you
for removing me from this place, thank you for getting
me out of here. Remember the first time, as a
grown man going back to the streets in south central
LA where I was raised. I'll never forget that time.
(50:25):
And I'll never forget the time in April of two
thousand and six when I went back and buried my father,
who was dead at fifty five years old because of
an addiction to cocaine. I'll never forget riding around those streets.
I'll never get going back home and realizing that the
gang's not all there, the guys I ran with, the
guys I grew up with, they're not all there. I
(50:46):
stood and preached at my father's funeral, I just had
to go away afterwards in a corner by myself and
lay on my face and weep as I remembered who
I was before God saved me. You can't have the
memory of my sin. I won't let you take it.
It reminds me of God's goodness to me. It reminds
(51:07):
me of his grace in my life. It reminds me
of where I was and where I never want to
be again. It reminds me that His work in me
may not be complete, but it is a factual.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
I'm not who ought to be, but hallelujah, I'm.
Speaker 5 (51:25):
Not who I want.
Speaker 3 (51:26):
Amen.
Speaker 4 (51:31):
That's a man. I can relate to that so much.
I love what he said, not even that long ago.
I mean that was when he was obviously younger, but
even like in the last few years of his life,
not knowing that was gonna be the last few years.
I remember thinking, oh, he's in his fifties, you know.
I didn't realize. Of course, his dad died for different reasons.
(51:53):
It sounds like, but there is something interesting that his
dad died at fifty five and he did at fifty six. Yeah,
but anyway, he said this, he said, and I think
this is It was a reminder for me as I
was praying and getting ready to come to work today,
he said, I'll never get over being redeemed.
Speaker 3 (52:15):
I'll never get over it. I'll never get over how.
Speaker 4 (52:20):
Jesus has transformed me kind of what he was saying here,
because I remember who I was before him, and I
can never get over God's grace and how so and
and may we never get over it. And if maybe
you're in a point where you're even someone and you
know that you're redeemed, and you've kind of gotten over it,
(52:41):
maybe maybe today we're reminded that what would be our
fate without.
Speaker 3 (52:47):
God's mercy and grace? And may we never get over it.
Speaker 4 (52:50):
And I'll tell you this, I was a bad, bad,
wicked man, and I agree with with with Vodia.
Speaker 3 (52:56):
I never want to be.
Speaker 4 (52:58):
I'm so thankful that I didn't stay on the road
I was on because and I tell young people this
a lot. I don't do as much youth stuff as
I did it one time because I've gotten, you know, sixty,
And I'm not saying I don't have anything to bring
to the table. I'm just saying because older men have
a lot to bring to the table, older women have
a lot to bring to the table. But sometimes, you know,
(53:20):
in a youth conference, setting. You just got to go
where you feel called, and right now you can't do
it all. I feel more called to men's ministry and
to marriage with ministry with Sherry. But I try to
tell them because I think sometimes young people when they
look to the vote bocoms and they look to some
(53:40):
of us that they're like, hmmm, I'm doing the same
things that you did, but you're okay, you made it.
So I don't really feel the urgency to correct it
right now. I'm gonna go ahead and you know, sew
these wild oats and then I'll be like you, I'll
figure it out later.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
But like Vodie just said, and I can say it too,
and Greg, you know, you know.
Speaker 4 (54:03):
With me, everybody who acted the way we did, they
didn't all survive it. A lot of them died and
went to Hell. So this this notion that everybody goes
out and sows their wild oats, but they eventually come
to faith in Christ and it all works out. That's
not the testimony of everybody. So it's a dangerous game.
(54:27):
And that's the reason why we say make that you look.
It's back to Timothy again. Paul said to Timothy, don't
let people you know think less of you because you're young.
You be an example to the men of the church. Now,
young man, young woman, you've been example to the women
(54:48):
of the church. Now your youth is not an excuse
to act like a fool. And don't assume that you're
gonna survive it, because I can think of people people
that I knew personally and they didn't survive it. And
I'm not their judge, but I have no hope other
(55:09):
than something that happened I didn't know about about their eternity.
And I hope something happened I didn't know about. But
all indications don't look great, so not everybody has this
great testimony of how it all worked out. And remember,
and we did a thirty day devotional about a thirty
one day devotional. Sin always matters. It does damage your
(55:31):
on earth that even your redemption can't always repair. Your
eternity can be repaired, praise God for that, but the
repercussions of this kind of life sometimes never get repaired
on earth. So it matters, do it now? Don't put
this off, you know, so there you go. Just pass
(55:53):
that along. Speaking of that, so we do have an
update on the darkness.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
It's out there.
Speaker 4 (56:01):
The ICE attack timeline is going to show that the
shooter sought to inflict real terror and that it is
now clear that this shooter intended to shoot ICE agents,
just missed and killed people that were not intended to
(56:22):
be killed one and hurt two others. But the target
were clearly ICE agents, so much so he was monitoring
where they were going to be.
Speaker 3 (56:32):
There's an ICE ICE tracking app.
Speaker 4 (56:34):
Yeah he had, he had exactly, Yeah, he had a
tracking app.
Speaker 8 (56:38):
They've got these libs out here with these ICE tracking apps,
and so if you see any ICE activity, you report
it in the app so that everybody, yes, exactly, so
that everybody that has the app knows where ICE is
and you can do with it what you will with
that information. And that's horrible.
Speaker 4 (56:59):
So it does look like that all indications are this
is another politically motivated attack, and this one against law
enforcement and not a one off.
Speaker 3 (57:10):
So so there you go.
Speaker 4 (57:13):
And you know that I watched a very very interesting
video take on the state of all this, and you
will not believe who sent it to me. Gary, Oh really, hey,
you need to watch this now. And Greg, Hey until Greg,
he's right again, So so.
Speaker 3 (57:34):
I'll send it to you. It's right again.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
It's lengthy, like you know what I said, A lengthy No,
a lengthy video he sent. But you know, now, I'm
at a point right now where I basically are in
some stuff where I work, work, work, get home, eat something,
and go to bed.
Speaker 3 (57:48):
Yeah, so.
Speaker 4 (57:50):
I was able to. I mean rare for me to
have the time to go. I think I'm gonna watch
all this and uh, it's from Gary.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
He's not the ones doing it. He sent me. The
just saw it.
Speaker 4 (58:03):
But you know, sometimes if Garry sends you something, you
don't want to watch it because you don't know what's
gonna get in some kind of brain.
Speaker 3 (58:10):
The bottom of the hour, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
This is the Rick Burgers Show. This is what Trump
had in mind when he sought to make America great again.
The Rick Burger.
Speaker 4 (58:30):
Show, America, Thanks for hanging out with us again today.
Speaker 3 (58:34):
Do you need to sell a house fast?
Speaker 4 (58:36):
Now?
Speaker 3 (58:36):
What a hassle? Right?
Speaker 17 (58:38):
Uh?
Speaker 18 (58:38):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (58:38):
Is it something kind of run down, something in the
family you ended up with? Well, look what they'll actually
do the repairs and they'll actually move anything needs to
be moved. I'm talking about my my friends that sell
my house fast? Or maybe you just got to go. Hey,
company moving us. Let's go, guys, let's get stuck. Wrap
it up, wrap it up, wrap it up.
Speaker 16 (58:57):
And uh.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
And so you go to Rick burgesshow dot com. Under
sponsors there is sell my House fast. They'll do it
at a fair price. No real estate agent commissions anything
like that. They've got Google five star reviews. You can
see them for yourself. Their offers are fair, the process

Speaker 3 (59:17):
Here's your cash. We got it handled. Move on with
your life.
Speaker 4 (59:21):
And again you can find that sell my House fast
Rick Burgess show dot com right there under the sponsors.
Speaker 3 (59:28):
So check that out.
Speaker 4 (59:29):
All right, we got a couple of things to run down.
People asking us questions.
Speaker 19 (59:34):
So we got we got questions. We got questions.
Speaker 3 (59:44):
Heybird, hey bird, Hey birds.
Speaker 4 (59:48):
Things that people want to ask all right, Text Nation,
y'are asking me for Gary's video. I don't know, man,
I don't know where Gary got this video. I don't
know man's side. I don't know if I'm comfortable he
probably I won't you even tell me. We'd be in
the next person to hand off the video. Gear sent me, Hey,
you need to look at this now.
Speaker 6 (01:00:06):
Now aling Now you know, and I know, and Adler
you know, and I know that Gary probably told Rick
I don't say nothing about this. Probably, And here's Rick
blabbing again. You never said that, you know, because you
weren't listening. Hey, ain't blabber. You tell you can't help it.
I ain't help it.
Speaker 3 (01:00:24):
Hey, I'm telling you just like a movie.
Speaker 4 (01:00:27):
Uh so, here's from hey bird, Hey bird, Hey bird.
I'm fifty seven years old. Recently broke my ankle, Sorry
about that, rolled it over. I have a problem that
you men could help me with. Okay, something like this
used not to be a problem, but being older, I
have to get up at night and more often and
(01:00:50):
relieve myself. Oh yeah, instead of waking my wife up,
trying to go to the bathroom would without waking her up.
Let me ask you a question. Okay, would you guys
be okay? Do you think it would be a good product,
(01:01:10):
some sort of pea bottle beside the bed and and
then of course you just get up the next day
and of course port and the toilet, flush it.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
Wash it out and slop jar.
Speaker 4 (01:01:22):
He's talking about something that would be there by the bed.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
Eighteen hundred Yeah.
Speaker 6 (01:01:28):
And it said, he's still moving to bed, gets even
sitting up trying to Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
But look, you're going to quietly be in a bottle,
he's saying, in his surface ly, he's saying, in his situation.
He's not talking about all the time, even though I
think I might use it all the time, he said.
I am on crutches, I have a knee scooter. Got
you and he goes, I'm just he said, I'm just
telling you that when I try to make this move,
(01:01:54):
it's a mess, he said, especially at night, and it's loud.
Speaker 3 (01:01:58):
Am I am? I too? Am I being weird?
Speaker 4 (01:02:01):
If I were to put a pea bottle just beside
the bed and then do what I gotta do, and
then the next morning, when everybody's awake, I just go
and pour it out.
Speaker 3 (01:02:10):
Then you forget I wouldn't have told it. You forget
it's a brilliant coach, and warm your face up with it.
I'd put a bottle against it, bigger than the bottle.
Let's go a little bit bigger.
Speaker 5 (01:02:21):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:02:21):
Yeah, maybe what are we talking? I don't know.
Speaker 6 (01:02:24):
Just something because if it's dark, you have to sleep.
I mean that's yes, take take some accuracy.
Speaker 8 (01:02:30):
It really does you want a white mouth only UGU.
Speaker 6 (01:02:34):
Yeah, something like that. Yeah, that you can put a
lid on it and it seals like a regular.
Speaker 3 (01:02:39):
Like we're talking about on a Power Aid bottle.
Speaker 8 (01:02:42):
It needs to be Power Aid bottle diameter or yeah,
it needs to be that like otherwise you're you're in
a real tough leader.
Speaker 4 (01:02:50):
Size, like a big It is because I don't know
about y'all at my age now, and I don't. A
lot of it I found out had to do with
let me tell you the biggest problem that I found
that I've had.
Speaker 3 (01:03:01):
I've been to a lot of meetings right now, lots
of them.
Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
This come up when you sit here on this show
for five hours drinking bottle after bottle after bottle of water,
two mugs of coffee, an eleven o'clock meeting. Yeah, I
mean you you're gonna have to go to the bathroom
probably twice throughout that meeting.
Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
I know why you's on the way home, why you're
a defender of this. You remember what he did in
his office. Oh that's right, he didn't like long that
long walk a long way. Yeah, that's it. His man's
asking you've done it?
Speaker 4 (01:03:33):
Yeah, I have done it, and Adler did worse. That's
why what.
Speaker 3 (01:03:41):
Let me do one thing? I thought.
Speaker 4 (01:03:42):
I looked at that tupperword thing and I thought, hey,
somebody's brought us something. I didn't know that. That's not
I think for this guy, a temporary pea bottle is
completely acceptable until his leg heeled. But I will say
I like the idea of it.
Speaker 6 (01:03:59):
Long term, I'd like, of course you do, Yeah, you
got one in the office. Don't ever drink a bottle.
Speaker 3 (01:04:04):
It's on that. Can I ask you guys something? Can
I ask you something?
Speaker 4 (01:04:07):
Isn't there something for hunters where you can actually just
be connected? For lack of a better term, I'm not
going through what connected. I mean, it's ready to go
at all times.
Speaker 3 (01:04:17):
Who wants that? I do? And I didn't know this,
this lock the hassle of them.
Speaker 16 (01:04:25):
Here I go.
Speaker 3 (01:04:26):
I got it, you know whatever.
Speaker 4 (01:04:27):
It's just like today, you know, I'm already thinking about is.
I'm thinking the flight to to where we're going today
has got to be at least probably two hours, oh boy.
And and coming right off the show, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:04:39):
You're gonna start pulling back to your point. I do.
Speaker 6 (01:04:42):
I do pee a lot after the show because when
you drink all morning long.
Speaker 3 (01:04:46):
And it takes to noon to get coffee. Yeah, a
cup right now.
Speaker 6 (01:04:51):
Rick, You're gonna probably have start pulling back in about
two hours.
Speaker 3 (01:04:55):
Just start tapering.
Speaker 4 (01:04:56):
People say they make because I tried to use that
little toilet on the plane.
Speaker 3 (01:05:00):
Oh oh my mouse, sterling, I caught a cramp.
Speaker 4 (01:05:04):
To what I did is I caught a cramp because
I got I got back in there and I was
trying to get set up, and also the cramp people
right here on my hip like that, and you're you're
already to concentrate that plane.
Speaker 7 (01:05:16):
It's a little time not be turbulence, you know, in.
Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
That in that little airplane when we're traveling. If someone goes,
I mean what I mean, their rear end is leaning on.
Speaker 3 (01:05:29):
Your show seat. We make adler ride in most I
think the bathrooms that.
Speaker 7 (01:05:34):
You got a word for that seat, the bathrooms.
Speaker 4 (01:05:36):
That they put on any airplane, but especially charter planes.
It's almost like they needed to check a list to
get approved. Now do you have a bathroom on it?
Speaker 3 (01:05:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (01:05:45):
Kind of.
Speaker 4 (01:05:48):
Can anybody? Can anybody use it? But not without being injured.
But you're right, I'm not struggling back. No, they're there's
something that they made for hunting that you you you
know you can just you can just go in it
like a.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Catheter.
Speaker 4 (01:06:06):
I'm not well that'd be I think i'd just pay
out of the tree. I think I think it involves insertion.
It was I'm not doing, but not inside you. I
think you're just inside the t oh.
Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
Okay, so what you want? You want a potty? It's
called the buddy.
Speaker 6 (01:06:20):
Okay, you want to poor a potty. You're in you're
a little set up type deal where I guess you
you're peeing that and it goes into some bucket outside that.
Speaker 4 (01:06:28):
No, I'm shooting. I think it actually like a little
little I think you put it on. I think there's
like a there's like a there's something like on your it's.
Speaker 7 (01:06:41):
Like a strap.
Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
Look at me, Look at me. What's wrong with you? Nothing?
I'm just just I mean, just start pulling back on
the drinking.
Speaker 4 (01:06:47):
No I do, Look I do. I've used I always
have a bottle with me when I'm hunting. I'm just saying,
you know, sometimes when you up in that ladder stand,
I will say this, I do always have toilet paper
with me.
Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
No, I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:07:02):
That's only happened to me one time, and it was
it was a there was no way out there. I'm
not going out in the woods if there's anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:07:09):
Well, sometimes sometimes you don't have the choice. No, I
know I had that.
Speaker 6 (01:07:12):
And if you're looking around it leaves. Oh yeah, I
mean you're gonna have a little Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
I learned a small role.
Speaker 4 (01:07:18):
But just have something I learned a hard, hard, difficult,
whole difficult lesson about what.
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
You don't do when you're going into woods the next morning.
Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
Yeah, if anybody offers to you at their camp house
Corncastle Row, take a pass.
Speaker 6 (01:07:34):
On because you think you're fine. Ntil you start walking
in all a sudden, you'll.
Speaker 4 (01:07:39):
Like a dog going for a walk, because really, you know,
you know what the woods are, don't you?
Speaker 3 (01:07:43):
One giant bookstore, no doubt.
Speaker 4 (01:07:52):
Start walking, I'm like, what's rolling the leaves?
Speaker 8 (01:07:57):
It's like you're sitting in the tree.
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Stands start or I get up this tree. I'm a
better figure something out.
Speaker 8 (01:08:03):
And you're sitting there, You're like you almost feel like
you're sitting on a toilet, like up in the air.
Speaker 3 (01:08:07):
You know, yeah, oh that's good.
Speaker 7 (01:08:09):
Hey, but this is called the little john.
Speaker 3 (01:08:11):
If you're everyone's yeah, there it is, Little John Joe.
That's for you.
Speaker 4 (01:08:16):
I think I want to get one of those. But hey,
let me tell you our emailer. You're perfectly clear. Man,
you're injured. You're trying to look after you why and
to let her sleep? You're making a lot of noise
in a mass. Absolutely fine, go right ahead. Don't leave
it though.
Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is where logic
meets left, the Rick Burgess Show.

Radio Gold is a new one this weekend?
Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
Adler? Or are we taking a weekend off on that too?
Speaker 7 (01:09:34):
It's maybe the first weekend of the year.
Speaker 3 (01:09:36):
Okay, we don't have one.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
That's fine, I mean I will look at Adler has

of the show. I mean I was talking, uh yesterday
and and the guy was saying, hey, out at work
right now, we are still laughing about you guys talking
about people who keep dogs in the house to the
point that they keep them even in their bedroom and
they don't ask the dogs to leave like that ever.
(01:10:21):
So yeah, there may be moments on the weekly show
you want to go back. And you know, the beautiful
thing if you have an affiliate where you are a
radio affiliate, they play the best of the week over
the weekend too, So that's always fun.
Speaker 5 (01:10:34):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:10:34):
So there you go.
Speaker 4 (01:10:34):
There's a there's so much content out there that we
we crank out every day, so you you you can
have your field of it on your own time as well.
All right, so other things to discuss. Speedy updated usk
that his wife's Colonnascoby went well yesterday, thank you for
updating us on that.
Speaker 6 (01:10:49):
But well, yeah, there's just something we were talking about
when ye when the planet was discovered and oh yeah,
yeahs gope the planet that we always refer to. And
I just reminded, man what happened yesterday. She I appreciate
you bringing that up because she wasn't up and rolling
(01:11:09):
at that time then. And I just said that you
told her that she sent me a text and talked
about the show this morning, how great it sounded. Clearly
knowing that she didn't hear it, you refer to it
again and now she's like, well, what's Rick talking about?
Speaker 3 (01:11:22):
Sorry about that? Sorry about that? Terry.
Speaker 6 (01:11:26):
Will you look at me and say you're sorry about that?
Because I'm the one that's gonna get it right.
Speaker 4 (01:11:32):
Well, she didn't know what you said. She's going to
go back and look.
Speaker 3 (01:11:36):
Pretty It's easy to.
Speaker 8 (01:11:39):
Very easy. Plus I'll put it in the podcast. Oh,
thank you, And I'll put it in the Best of podcasts.
Speaker 4 (01:11:44):
Also, yeah, I also have uh, those of you that
are asking do we determine to the affiliates, what the
best of we can show is that's a yes, Speedy
puts that together, and so they play what he puts
together for the week so they don't have to go
out and do it on the wrong So so every
affiliate is playing the same.
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
Show wherever you would be To answer that question, I
didn't know.
Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
You know, there's a couple of stories today in the
entertainment world that involve relationships with fathers. Dwayne the Rock Johnson.
Have y'all seen this one? No, Yeah, Speedy, you put
this in wrestler Apparently Dwayne the Rock Johnson speaking out
about how the last time he talked to his late father,
(01:12:28):
Rocky Johnson.
Speaker 3 (01:12:29):
Yeah, he's a wrestler. Thank you, Greg.
Speaker 4 (01:12:32):
If only he had somebody who drove NASCAR, you could
give us a whole look at their entire family. Telling
you he said, we had a deeply complicated relationship.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
Yeah, fifty three or years old.
Speaker 9 (01:12:44):
Now.
Speaker 4 (01:12:44):
By the way, the Rock he has actually lost a
lot of weight for his new he's he said they
fault over his father's memoir.
Speaker 3 (01:12:53):
I didn't know he did this. I guess there's a wrestler.
He put it out.
Speaker 4 (01:12:55):
Rocky had a memoir he said that his dad's book
contained quote that had actually, you know, been written by
the Dwayne uh and oh yeah, and and that ripped
him off. That that was claiming that that was what
he was claiming that that he gave his dad credit
(01:13:18):
for his success. When he said, I really never did that,
he said, uh, and that that hurt. He said, as
you said, Greg, his daddy was a former pro wrestler.
Speaker 17 (01:13:29):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:13:29):
He published it, Greg, you may have read it, called
soul Man, right Johnson's story. Can we all please go
get that? And he said that he was shocked to
read that he had written the forward for his dad's
book because he hadn't. So not only did he say
that that Dwayne the Rock Johnson gave his dad credit. Yeah,
(01:13:53):
gave his dad credit for how successful he was, he
also released the book with the forward using his son's celebrity.
He like he had written the ford in it, but
he did.
Speaker 8 (01:14:02):
Okay, guys, it's on the cover forward by Dwayne the
Rock Johnson soul.
Speaker 3 (01:14:08):
Man, which he he said, I did not write. Man
was a big guy.
Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
He was, he was, ye, So he said he said
that that was uh, that that was crossing a line.
Speaker 3 (01:14:26):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
And he says, it all goes back to the issue
that my dad had. He was a classic narcissist.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
Oh wow, uh wow.
Speaker 4 (01:14:33):
So yeah, he said, in twenty nineteen, the biggest fight
they'd ever had.
Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
Happened. Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:14:42):
And he said, he said that my dad told me
what do you think you possibly have to offer?
Speaker 15 (01:14:50):
Uh?
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
And everyone out there, and that that felt good. He's
done pretty well, Yeah he has. He yes, bet that
bet that felt great.
Speaker 15 (01:14:58):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:14:58):
But anyway, so.
Speaker 14 (01:15:00):
When your dad runs your dad and then the fake forward,
you love when your dad told you to mount to nothing,
and then when you did, he basically.
Speaker 4 (01:15:07):
Tried to steal your celebrity for I love it, right,
So so he said.
Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
Then he asked, do you smell with the Rock as cooked?
Speaker 4 (01:15:18):
He said, just he said, just so everybody knows my
my father's twenty nineteen memoir is filled with fiction. Yeah,
And it took him, yeah, he said, he said, he said,
I know the truth about these stories. They're not in
the book. The truth is not as wonderful as as that.
And he said, now a lot of people have been
(01:15:38):
talking about the Rock. The Rock has lost a lot
of weight, and when you see him now, he's like
almost uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (01:15:45):
Which means he had to have lost muscle, because that's
pretty much all it was. Do you think that's what
I was mentioning to you? You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:15:51):
I guess he backs off the work time a little bit.
Do you think, uh, this is for a role that
he's going to be playing. Yeah, it almost looks like that.
Is it, m m A or what it is?
Speaker 3 (01:16:00):
It's something.
Speaker 6 (01:16:00):
I forget what the role is. But oh really, so
that you said that is what it's for. I can't remember.
I can't remember the role, Rick, But I just I
was mentioning. I was mentioning about.
Speaker 4 (01:16:11):
The weight loss, right, But but I mean people, you
know how sometimes when I saw it, because you can't
believe anything anymore.
Speaker 3 (01:16:18):
So when I saw.
Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
It, I actually thought that it was not a real
picture of Dwayne the Rock correct. Yeah, I thought somebody
had tampered with it. That that's but I'm Smashing Machine.
Speaker 7 (01:16:31):
But in the Smashing Machine he's huge. It's like after
the Smashing Machine wrapped.
Speaker 16 (01:16:38):
Greg.
Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
Look at this picture right here. This is media has
this in the story the Smashing Machine.
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
He's huge.
Speaker 8 (01:16:44):
He's playing I forget I should know who he's playing.
He's playing a UFC legend. I can't say yeah yeah,
And and now as that movie is coming out at
all these premieres, he's looking really really thin compared.
Speaker 4 (01:16:55):
To hisself, right yeah, yes, see in the movie, and
he quit staring chicken Man, Chicken Man, Chicken Man.
Speaker 3 (01:17:04):
Okay, okay, Chicken Man.
Speaker 7 (01:17:06):
Smashing Machine is.
Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
Getting good smash.
Speaker 6 (01:17:08):
He's gonna play chicken Man in the upcoming film Lizard Music.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Mark Mark Kerr. He's fine. We're all over the road
right now I'm reading it. We can't get the rock
in the middle.
Speaker 6 (01:17:19):
But I just knew he had lost weight for a
movie roll and I didn't know what it was. But
he'll portray chicken Man in the movie Lizard Music. Okay,
it's based on a novel, so that's not about an.
Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Mm A fighter. That's another movie.
Speaker 8 (01:17:33):
No The one that just came out is The Smashing Machine,
in which he plays mm A legend, Mark Kerr.
Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
And then Chicken Man is another movie that he might
be getting them for right right right.
Speaker 17 (01:17:43):
We are.
Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
It's funny.
Speaker 6 (01:17:45):
He had to bulk up thirty pounds for the Smashing
Machine and then he had to slim down for the
other one.
Speaker 3 (01:17:52):
Okay, stay out big that long.
Speaker 7 (01:17:54):
You can't stay that big that long.
Speaker 3 (01:17:55):
I hear your cart, you know that firsthand, right look
at me.
Speaker 7 (01:17:58):
So I'm getting smaller.
Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
This is the Rick Burchers Show.
Speaker 5 (01:18:10):
You better listen up.
Speaker 2 (01:18:13):
You know what we say.
Speaker 5 (01:18:16):
All I tell you gotta find.
Speaker 1 (01:18:25):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world. The Rick
Burchers Show.
Speaker 3 (01:18:30):
How about It, America.
Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
Thanks for being with us, for Brandy Owers, Speedy, Greg Adler,
all here as we move forward, looking forward to meeting
the fox sceints as they make their way to us.
Speaker 3 (01:18:41):
Here in just a little bit. Uh, thank you Text
Nation for way again.
Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
Thank you so much all of you that are with
us all across the country on the Rick Burger Show
Radio network that tune and up or watching us on YouTube.
Speaker 3 (01:18:55):
Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:19:00):
Also those of you that live in the podcast world
on the archive.
Speaker 3 (01:19:04):
Every day, we welcome you from Text Nation. Vote Bacam.
We talked about passed Away yesterday.
Speaker 4 (01:19:12):
One of his quotes today, Sometimes God is glorified when
sick saints get well, but more often than not, God
is glorified when sick saints die well. And boy, no
truer words have ever been said. So we did talk
about that. Some of you are asking. We did earlier.
We've talked a little college football already, the big matchups
(01:19:33):
coming up this weekend. We've made our prediction on those.
I know you really care about that, but we did
talk about those games a little bit. We've reviewed a
number of things already, So if you missed any of that,
you catch that on the archive, either on our YouTube
channel or our podcast channel, and you can certainly bring
up things that you've been wanting to ask about that
when we do unscreened phone calls, and we'll probably do
(01:19:56):
one of those in the next segment.
Speaker 3 (01:19:58):
So a couple things to hit on.
Speaker 4 (01:20:01):
And this was the other story I was going to do,
and we got to chasing this Dwayne the Rock Johnson
story about his dad. Tim Allen said Erica Kirk's memorial
speech has inspired him to forgive his father's killer. Did
y'all know that Tim Allen's father was killed?
Speaker 7 (01:20:18):
Yes, no, he said, Al has got a rougher background
than you might think.
Speaker 4 (01:20:22):
He said, I struggle for over sixty years to forgive
the man who killed my dad. I will say the
words now as I type, I forgive the man who
killed my father. Peace be with you all in nineteen
sixty four, his dad was killed by a drunk driver.
And that's when Tim was eleven years old. So, you know,
(01:20:44):
and the thing I've had some people talking about, well,
now you know, Jesus, you know, you only get forgiveness
by repenting. And then I understand that that's you're confusing
two things. The health thing about forgiveness. You also remember
that the Jesus also told us not to deny grace
(01:21:07):
to those that that you know that he didn't deny
grace to us, that we shouldn't deny.
Speaker 3 (01:21:12):
That to others.
Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
But then you go, well, that's still talking about repentance,
and you're you're right, but I want to get further.
It is unhealthy to harbor things for yourself. I remember,
and I can't remember who the quote belongs to, but
that unforgiveness is like you drinking poison expecting that person
(01:21:33):
to die.
Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:21:34):
And it will be used against you in spiritual warfare too,
I promise you, uh if if you harbor that kind
of stuff, and and and you won't you you would
like for somebody to come back and you know, offer
an apology and and and all that, and and forgiveness
doesn't mean that what the person did was okay, it
doesn't mean it doesn't hurt, It doesn't mean it was nice,
(01:21:57):
doesn't mean they're great people. Has nothing to do with that.
It has to do with your own peace. It has
to do with with you being able to not allow
things in your life that can be used against you,
to cause you to stumble and cause you to be
less effective in your own relationship with Christ. So so
(01:22:17):
that's what it's all about. And ultimately you're saying, which
scripture tells you, tells us that God will handle it.
It's it, you know, all of us always seeking out
to be vindicated, always seeking out, you know, to grab
our own justice. You know, even when you get some
sort of court justice, it still doesn't change, you know,
(01:22:38):
the outcome. Uh and and but rest in the fact
that God will judge everything perfectly.
Speaker 3 (01:22:45):
He will judge it perfectly.
Speaker 4 (01:22:46):
Uh and so and and you know what, even when
somebody that has done something is horrible to you, as
these two people that Tim Allen and Erica Kirk have
talked about, do you deny them redemption?
Speaker 16 (01:23:01):
Do you?
Speaker 4 (01:23:02):
Is it our place to wish that they would be
eternally punished in the fires of hell? Sometimes you think, yeah,
I would, rick, but be careful with that because it's
not healthy for you spiritually.
Speaker 8 (01:23:12):
And speaking of redemption, like I was saying, Tim Allen
has a rougher upbringing that you might imagine. His dad
was killed by the drunk driver in nineteen sixty four
when Tim Allen was eleven years old. When Tim Allen
was twenty five years old, in nineteen seventy eight, he
was arrested with like a pound and a half of cocaine,
(01:23:33):
sentence for felony drug trafficking, spent two years and four
months in federal prison, and he said it was like
a watershed moment in his life.
Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
I bet, and you can.
Speaker 8 (01:23:44):
See that the death of his dad set his life
one way, going to prison set his life another. And
he could have when he got out of prison, gone
one way or the other. He focused on stand up
comedy and went on to become one of the biggest
stand up comics in history.
Speaker 4 (01:23:57):
You know well, and I guess again today, Adler, with
that background, it looks like today, this story also says,
even sixty years later, because of the example of a
follower of Christ. He says, I now for the first time,
have forgiven the man who killed my father. So he's
just now taken another step in his life that was
(01:24:18):
still unresolved.
Speaker 3 (01:24:20):
So that's kind of cool.
Speaker 4 (01:24:23):
Also, over on the UH, it looks like that it
is official to some degree that Elon Musk and Donald
Trump have made up. Speaking of forgiveness, it looks like
they've made up. Trump administration reunites with Elon Musk in
pursuit of AI dominance for the benefit of the country.
(01:24:46):
So it looks like now have either one of them
changed enough that they can Because have you ever had
that deal where you kind of got you remember, we've
always talked about as long as we've all been in radio,
We've we've I've talked about this on the show. We've
(01:25:08):
talked about it and stand up routines. Is this thing
that we've never thought was a acceptable excuse. Well, you know,
that's just the way they are. Yeah, well, yeah, we
we've always have this opinion of that. That's why I
have the opinion of them, because of the way they are.
You don't like you don't you don't like so and
so because he's a loud mouth, has a foul mouth,
(01:25:29):
you know, always that does this, always does that. Yeah,
he says terrible things. Yeah, well yeah, come on, man,
that's just the way he is. Well, I know that's
why I don't want to be around it.
Speaker 3 (01:25:38):
You don't, does it? Bever? Stop said, Oh so that's
just the way he is. I didn't realize that. Well,
then we're okay. We can do whatever we want.
Speaker 4 (01:25:44):
So if neither one of them have had the thing
that bothers each one of them about the other, if
those things haven't changed, won't we just get back here again,
and you know, want to Won't it just be something else?
Speaker 3 (01:25:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (01:25:59):
And and what in the major fallout was that after
Elon had his his team and they found all the
you know, the funds and how you know, the the
country is wasting money and all the waste, and and
then Trump didn't start cutting things as fast as Elon
wren as deep as he.
Speaker 3 (01:26:17):
Those things take time.
Speaker 6 (01:26:19):
Elon got got hurt, uh and and got mad and
said that Trump was ignoring a lot of stuff, and
he's spending and the spending bill and all this kind
of stuff.
Speaker 3 (01:26:27):
And that was the big fallout.
Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
Greg, You're wondering, can a reptile get along with him?
It's hard, It's very hard.
Speaker 8 (01:26:33):
Plus Elon it.
Speaker 7 (01:26:34):
It's like he had a mental break or something.
Speaker 8 (01:26:36):
Talking about Trump is in the Epstein files and all
this stuff. You're like, dude, you're not helping at all.
Speaker 4 (01:26:41):
Well, he's unpredictable and he can go off, and he's
he's certainly a genius, Gregg says, be careful almost almost,
you don't mind, almost too much of a genius.
Speaker 3 (01:26:49):
Yeah, Bill rockets but reptilian. Right.
Speaker 4 (01:26:53):
But but have you ever had that experience before where
you like went back and mended like a relationship and
thought you'd forgot all about why you didn't want to
be around the person, and then you kind of hang
out and it's that's not the first time, it's that
second time you hang out with them, and you go, oh,
I remember now why I didn't like you? Why, oh
I didn't I remember now why I didn't like Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:27:13):
Uh and and so.
Speaker 4 (01:27:16):
You know, I mean, if they can just say they
don't even have to be friends, if they just work
together for the benefit of the country, that'd be that'd
not be at war, that just don't be at war.
Speaker 8 (01:27:25):
At the Charlie Kirton funeral, you can see both of
them making an effort like, hey man, sorry about that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:31):
Good to see it work.
Speaker 7 (01:27:32):
Two powerful dudes.
Speaker 15 (01:27:33):
Let's worked together.
Speaker 7 (01:27:35):
What Trump even gave him a little pats.
Speaker 3 (01:27:37):
We'll be back. We'll take unscreen phone calls next.
Speaker 1 (01:27:41):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. I'm the most agerous
ten minutes it will you unscreened phone calls get in
(01:28:03):
now by dialing one eight eight eight six big vocks.
Speaker 4 (01:28:08):
So here we go, unscreened phone calls. The most dangerous
ten minutes in radio. As we go to the phones,
nothing between you and us, no screener.
Speaker 3 (01:28:21):
Just live action.
Speaker 4 (01:28:23):
We're taking these different punches, these different calls, and we're
having to think on our feet.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
Oh the thrill of it. Yeah, the thrill of it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:34):
Ooh, And here we go unscreened phone calls. Hello, you're

be prevaging. I think maybe than you. I think so,
Rick Burgess Show on screen phone go ahead, come on,
go ahead.
Speaker 16 (01:29:15):
Yes, yes, uh.
Speaker 20 (01:29:18):
In regard to the gentleman that was looking for a
solution for getting up to go to the bathroom recently
had a medical procedure. When I woke up, they had
fitted me with a condom that had a tube attached
to it.
Speaker 16 (01:29:33):
That took care of the whole problem.
Speaker 4 (01:29:35):
Well, you know what, thank you, sir, and did nothing
out here. Thank you so much. They got here condom
into in the same sense, and you repeated it. Yeah,
just repeating it right. By the way, have you ever
have you ever noticed a discarded one in a place
you thought? I wonder what happened here? Yeah, right behind
the Rick and Bubba truck and that we used to park. Yep,
(01:29:57):
you remember that. Yeah, we couldn't get crank. We've walked
around looking at whoa, I say, that's had nothing to
do without crank.
Speaker 3 (01:30:03):
How about this? Now that's the Mike loves the show.
Speaker 7 (01:30:07):
They really are big fans.
Speaker 3 (01:30:08):
Rick Burges's show. Unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 21 (01:30:11):
I got a questions about again, Hey, Katie, Katie, censor
Olabama Georgia game. I was asking if you could do
a preview other games.
Speaker 3 (01:30:27):
Well we did earlier.
Speaker 4 (01:30:28):
You may have missed that we actually did in the
very first hour of the show today and you can
catch that on the archive maybe later. Rick Birges's show,
unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:30:40):
Good morning both, Hey buddy, Oh oh, maybe I can
change the pace a little bit, a little constructive criticism.
I don't know. I've never switched aboard. I don't have
a clue how any of that works. Maybe you can
give me some insight. This is mainly for Adler. Adler, Buddy,
I love you, I really do. I consider myself a
full size Ada or the music I'm I'm YouTube, Okay,
(01:31:05):
that's all I over hear out of you, guys. I'm
on YouTube, and I'm just wondering. Can we just mute
from the time, you know, if he's not doing clips
or whatever, which I love all the clips he's doing. God,
I love Charlie Kirk. I love all that and give
me more. But in between, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:31:26):
You're talking about the commercials.
Speaker 4 (01:31:28):
It was too long as I was, I was sitting there.
It's Friday.
Speaker 7 (01:31:32):
Was he talking about the commercial?
Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
He mentioned music?
Speaker 8 (01:31:34):
He did mention music.
Speaker 3 (01:31:35):
Yeah, just email Adler directly. Yeah. Rick Burgess Show, unscreen
phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 22 (01:31:41):
Hey morning guys.
Speaker 13 (01:31:42):

If you're gonna sponsor him, you better have some money, right?
Speaker 3 (01:32:27):

was actually Rick. He's too busy busting watermelon.
Speaker 4 (01:33:46):

(01:35:06):
We're not just saying we're handing you a show that
is like right now, there's there's there's over a million
people okay at any given time that are listening to you.
Speaker 3 (01:35:16):
It's bigger than just chatting with you.
Speaker 4 (01:35:18):
I mean, but anyway, so, but really bringing it in
right and slow talkers come on down listen, Yeah, and
can't quite get to it. But but anyway, and I

Memorial Fund. You can get it by going to Burgessministries
(01:35:40):

medium roast. It comes from Mexico. That's good, it's really
really good. And uh and Brazil as well, So that
that would be the two that I that's the two.
Speaker 3 (01:35:55):
That's thank you.
Speaker 4 (01:35:56):

my favorite.
Speaker 3 (01:36:23):
Yes, I thought that was.
Speaker 27 (01:36:25):
So funny because Adler is one of my favorites and
always has been.
Speaker 22 (01:36:29):
And y'all'm not.
Speaker 26 (01:36:30):
Regretting saying this.

Speaker 7 (01:36:33):
Thanks for calling. I love you, mom, Thank you for
calling so much.
Speaker 27 (01:36:39):

his mom a mother say gift at Cracker Barrel or
when he dug in Human Waste.

a good night's sleep, you're well.
Speaker 15 (01:37:21):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:37:22):
Part of the reason that you toss in turn, could
be that your mattress was not customized for you.
Speaker 15 (01:37:28):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:37:28):
He looks sleep dot Com, Slash, big Vox. The biggest
endorsement they've ever received is from Greg Burgess because he
didn't like anything, and you like this product, that's right.
Speaker 3 (01:37:39):
And let's face it, the list of things that you embrace.
Speaker 4 (01:37:43):
You know, it's exclusive to a few things. It's not
a big one, not a lot. So it's custom made. Yeah,
custom You sleep good last night?
Speaker 3 (01:37:51):
I did? Was it good? Didn't want to get up
this morning? Yeah, because it's customized for you. So what
we got?
Speaker 4 (01:37:56):
What are we talking about, Greg? Somebody you sleep with
you on your back, on your side, your stomach. They
want to know that hard mattress, medium solvet want to
know that stuff like that. So then they match you
up with it. How long did it take you to
do that? Two minutes? I timed it so you can.
And then once they customize it for you can break
that record. They send it to you, no shipping, Uh,
you don't have to pay for that. Then you have
(01:38:17):
one hundred nights to sleep on it. One hundred to
be sure that.
Speaker 3 (01:38:20):
You love it. And you will.
Speaker 4 (01:38:21):
But if you don't, that's a lot of nights. If
you don't, they'll refund your money. I'll hand it right
back to you. So sleep on sleep, sleep on a
mattress that was customized for you by going to Helix

Speaker 3 (01:38:49):
So you know you. Being assistant coach is one of
my favorite thing. Oh I love assistant coach. Thank you
assistant coach.
Speaker 4 (01:38:54):
So we just had a we had a caller in
there and they're out there and those are the we
love Adam of the best people and uh and Morgan
was given us some of his great highlights involving dealing
with open sewage and and and things of that nature,
and she said, you know, that's just what makes Adler
stand out. And so we're gonna I'm sorry we hit
(01:39:16):
the hard break there, but we're gonna stay on your
phone call, ma'am as you represent the adler iites out there,
and we're gonna move right into letting Adler have the
floor because a lot of you who love him so
probably know he's taken on his first coaching endeavor, nick coach,
and he's now coaching coach soccer Ruby, his daughter, yes, yes,
(01:39:40):
and other small children, Yeah, kicking friendly. How's that going, coach?
Speaker 8 (01:39:44):
Well, I am basically the Bill Belichick of children age
Flourida second grade coaching soccer.
Speaker 1 (01:39:54):
Because I don't know.
Speaker 8 (01:39:56):
If you guys I was I was oh and or
I was in two or to and I won two
weeks in a row.
Speaker 3 (01:40:05):
And buddy, can I tell you this though?
Speaker 4 (01:40:08):
Can I tell you one thing too that will help
you with the Belichick comparison. When you're standing next to Ruby,
it looks like Bill Belichick standing next to his girlfriend, right.
Speaker 3 (01:40:16):
That's why people say that. Yeah, so might have heard
about it.
Speaker 8 (01:40:20):
Yeah, Ruby's playing and my parents actually we have we
have a practice for like thirty minutes and then we
you know, we a lot of breaks and then we
have a game for about thirty minutes and.
Speaker 3 (01:40:33):
So that's it.
Speaker 8 (01:40:33):
Wow, every Tuesday, six to seven.
Speaker 3 (01:40:37):
So you're trying to be hip.
Speaker 7 (01:40:39):
My parents actually came to see me.
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
Oh watch you, coach.
Speaker 8 (01:40:44):
Like I said, they probably came to see Ruby, really,
but it felt like they were coming to see me.
Speaker 3 (01:40:49):
But you're their boy. Yeah, you're one of their sons.
Speaker 8 (01:40:52):
I guess now that I think about, they were actually
coming to see their grandchild play, soccer said, or could
have been seen me, coach both.
Speaker 4 (01:40:58):
Let me tell you something that your little mama, who
carried you in her womb, she came to see her
son coch. Yeah, and your daughter was a bonus as
a grandparent.
Speaker 8 (01:41:08):
I made him proud, did you no?
Speaker 3 (01:41:10):
We lost?
Speaker 8 (01:41:15):
I was undefeated my entire career until this week.
Speaker 6 (01:41:19):
It's been a couple Finally, did you tell your parents?
I couldn't count and I made.
Speaker 8 (01:41:23):
A mistake, made a mistake. It's it's the mid season.
Speaker 4 (01:41:29):
Grind.
Speaker 8 (01:41:30):
You guys know about it.
Speaker 3 (01:41:31):
Oh yeah, you know.
Speaker 8 (01:41:33):
You come out hot, you get two big wins. Now
all of a sudden, things your routine, All of a sudden,
you forget about what I like to call the process.
I came up, came up with it.
Speaker 3 (01:41:49):
No, that's a good name and that. Yeah, I mean
it was, it was.
Speaker 8 (01:41:55):
I took more water breaks than I can think. It's like,
all right, four minutes, all right, four minutes, that's that's
enough of this. Let's take a water break. There's anything
to get these kids. Kids in it. But boy, you
can tell that they were really there that mid season
slump where it's just like it becomes routine and you
forget about excellence.
Speaker 3 (01:42:14):
Just coming on the field.
Speaker 8 (01:42:15):
The next thing they know they run through was like
a tin horn.
Speaker 3 (01:42:17):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 7 (01:42:20):
Quote Nick Saban, Yeah, I said, if you're not first, your.
Speaker 3 (01:42:22):
Last, I could tell it.
Speaker 5 (01:42:25):
Three year old girl.
Speaker 6 (01:42:27):
Hey, the clip of saving saying that is hilarious, fantastic.
Speaker 3 (01:42:31):
But I was.
Speaker 7 (01:42:32):
I was oddly nervous.
Speaker 8 (01:42:33):
My my mom's dad, my grandfather, was a pee pee coach,
football coach her whole life.
Speaker 3 (01:42:40):
It's so like you, guys, a lot of pressures coaching.
Speaker 8 (01:42:43):
Coaching runs in the fam.
Speaker 3 (01:42:45):
Yeah, blood bloodlines, that's right.
Speaker 8 (01:42:49):
So I was nervous about my parents being there, and
I was also nervous because my phone wasn't working and
I had no time.
Speaker 7 (01:42:57):
I felt lost out there.
Speaker 8 (01:43:00):
In fact, I got lost on the way to the place,
and I thought about your dad, Rick and Greg, because
you know the saying, why would I go anywhere if
I don't know where I'm going? Yeah, traffic, because normally
when I go to church on Sunday mornings, the traffic's
not an issue. So I have a normal way that
I go to church at Hope Community Church on Tuesdays.
When this is rush hour during the five o'clock hour,
(01:43:21):
I'm trying to get there, so I go a different way,
but I've only done that once before, and I'm like,
I'll go my new way. And then I get on
the road and I realize I don't have my phone,
I don't have my GPS, and I'm like, I think
this is what I did last week. And Ruby and Ezra,
who I've got both of them with me, by the way,
They're screaming at me the whole time.
Speaker 7 (01:43:42):
And Ruby's so aware.
Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
I wish she was less aware.
Speaker 7 (01:43:45):
I wish my daughter was more.
Speaker 8 (01:43:46):
Stupid than she is, because she is like, Daddy, are
you sure you know where you're going, daddy, because it
seems like you you seem unsure about yourself. Daddy, I
don't know, And I'm like, well, kid, you're very observant,
because yeah, I think the golf course was on this
side of the road. As we go, and y'all, I.
Speaker 3 (01:44:01):
Pulled coach lost, I didn't.
Speaker 8 (01:44:03):
And then I hold this road that I was trying
to bypass right in the middle of traffic, and then
I turned the wrong way on that road, giving myself
more traffic. I had to double back. I rolled up.
My parents had already been there for like ten minutes.
I rolled up at one minute till practice was supposed
to start.
Speaker 3 (01:44:19):
I throw.
Speaker 8 (01:44:20):
I throw Ezra because Ezra's two. He can't play yet.
He's a little bit mad about that.
Speaker 7 (01:44:23):
But it's like, buddy, you you you you you have.
Speaker 8 (01:44:26):
A poopy diaper on. You didn't do this.
Speaker 3 (01:44:28):
You pulled up practice. Yes, yes, it was terrible.
Speaker 8 (01:44:32):
I felt so bad. I felt so bad, But it
was because I got lost, because I did m GPS.
Because I'm stupid, unlike your dad. That said, why would
I go anywhere when I don't where I'm going?
Speaker 2 (01:44:39):
Right?
Speaker 8 (01:44:40):
What I literally thought about him on the way by
the way, I thought about your dad saying that.
Speaker 4 (01:44:44):
Now, think about what he thought about you pulled up
one minute before practice.
Speaker 3 (01:44:47):
Horrible.
Speaker 8 (01:44:47):
I throw Ezra to my parents and then we get
out on the field. We're warming up in stretch and
we do all our stuff, and that's when it hits me.
Speaker 28 (01:44:53):
Mid season slump is gonna be a.
Speaker 4 (01:44:55):
You can almost when you look over there, and you
look over there and these players, like you can almost
see it right when they're eating their gummies.
Speaker 3 (01:45:02):
You're like, y'are not focused.
Speaker 8 (01:45:04):
I am not joking. The team scored, and I look
over and my team is sitting down on the field,
sitting down to it. Hey, hey, Eagles, let's flap our wings.
Let's get back up. Y'all come on, and we got
three minutes, please give me three minutes. Then they're sitting
on the field. We had three goalies at one point.
We don't need three goalies. I know, y'all just want
(01:45:25):
to stand there and still, I see what you're doing.
Speaker 7 (01:45:31):
You would think, let me, you would think, let me,
I mean.
Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
Just look looking at it just looking at it, go.
Speaker 4 (01:45:38):
Didn't you say each week you have like different players
and it's so really.
Speaker 8 (01:45:42):
No, but it's I'm still me. I'm still coaching the team.
I should be able to bring any team.
Speaker 3 (01:45:47):
Like you like it. And then all of a sudden
they're not on your team next and I was harting
to work the project.
Speaker 8 (01:45:53):
I was learning it is it is. It's like the
transfer portal. Every week it's going nuts. You know, when
you're leaving the practice, you're like, okay, I learned more kids'
names this week. I felt like I learned less. I
left the thing, and I'm like, and it's a church league,
so you got all these biblical names, you know, like
Josiah and Hezekiah, and I'm like, Malachi esther job, NI backup,
(01:46:15):
get over here, he guys, let's go, let's go.
Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
And it's just guys, I'm you got to watch your cousin. Yeah,
and I can and you can't cause language.
Speaker 8 (01:46:27):
So my my speech is all messed up like it
is on.
Speaker 10 (01:46:29):
The air here always because it's you know, you were
flustered words and so you get out a mass press
and you know, and you know too that your mom
and dad were sitting there going wow, So coaches.
Speaker 8 (01:46:40):
Wow, So this is how he does everything, and.
Speaker 3 (01:46:42):
You're thinking, you're thinking this is this is what it is.
This has not been the case.
Speaker 8 (01:46:46):
I've been on time too, and I've been fifteen minutes
early every week, and then my parents get there and
I get lost our way because Carl Bone was busted
and you.
Speaker 4 (01:46:54):
Know, I know, did your dad do that thing he
does when he feels bad for people And you use
the word bud a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:46:59):
Hey Bud, It's okay, Bud. Did he give you? But
I'm just used to.
Speaker 8 (01:47:04):
I think he's been calling me Bud since I was born, right,
Hey Bud? Yeah, Hey, big dog. They champ, champ, anybody
if you could call somebody champ or sport. It's like Einstein.
They don't mean it, like where to go Einstein. They
don't think you're really smart. They go like, hey champ,
they don't think you're a champion of anything. And my
(01:47:26):
team was not a champion this last week. So we
got to get back on the honky or get on
the EU, get back on the carousel or whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (01:47:33):
It's not honky, No, it's not honky. Please tell me
that what your post games, be.
Speaker 7 (01:47:38):
Gids, back on the honky you kids.
Speaker 3 (01:47:41):
It's about a process. And right now y'all are looking
like a tin.
Speaker 5 (01:47:44):
Horn out here.
Speaker 8 (01:47:46):
I say, in my mind, I thought, get back on
the horse.
Speaker 3 (01:47:50):
On the horse.
Speaker 1 (01:47:52):

certain nicknames don't seem to translate when you become a
(01:48:54):
grown man. Yes, Scooter probably the most obvious skippy you
You went ahead, unfortunately and threw the name Tommy out
there forgetting how many Tommy's we actually know.
Speaker 7 (01:49:08):
That was a bad example.
Speaker 8 (01:49:09):
I didn't mean that. I didn't mean tom in law.
Speaker 3 (01:49:12):
You know our relationship with Cotton Eyed Joe's.
Speaker 7 (01:49:14):
Right, Yeah, Tommy at Cotton Eye Joe's or whatever.
Speaker 3 (01:49:16):
Yeah, you know, they like the logo here.
Speaker 4 (01:49:20):
They made all of our logos, most of the new ship,
most of the new shirts. They did the designs that
we have on them. We do a lot of work
with them. They're doing the CD cover for us for
the first ever Best of CD, so we have a
big time business relationship with them. Adler, you might be
aware of them, Cotton Eyed Joe's outstanding marketing people. Hey
(01:49:44):
Man caught up with the show heard Adler's comment for
folks that grow up still being called Tommy, So from
this day fourth, I would like for y'all to address
me as Big tom.
Speaker 7 (01:49:58):
That's a lot better. Big Tommy. Actually was a bad example.
Speaker 4 (01:50:03):
He said, No, I thank you for pointing out the
era of my ways going being called Tommy for all
these years. So, by the way, glad everybody likes the
new shirt designs. So going forward, we mustn't see. Now
You've put me in a situation. Now I've got to
go back and start addressing him as big tom and
I hope you're happy.
Speaker 8 (01:50:21):
Johnny and Tommy were bad examples.
Speaker 3 (01:50:25):
Timmy.
Speaker 8 (01:50:25):
Timmy is what I meant to say, Timmy, don't just stop.
I meant to say, Timmy, Timmy is a little boy.
Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
You've done enough, because Tommy's pretty normal.
Speaker 28 (01:50:33):
It is.
Speaker 7 (01:50:34):
No, you're right, Tommy, gun sure, Tommy.
Speaker 3 (01:50:36):
Lenora loved it.
Speaker 6 (01:50:37):
Tommy speaking of Tommy leonor Tommy Davis. He's got twin boys,
Will and Philip uh and Philip gets married this weekend,
and Terry and I are going to him and UH
and his wedding and I can't wait. But it's that
thing about you getting married on college football Saturday.
Speaker 3 (01:50:56):
Did you say I can't wait?
Speaker 6 (01:50:58):
I can I cannot wait. Okay, it's going to be
a blast. Well I have to leave right at kickoff
of the afternoon games and probably miss Alabama Georgia. Oh,
it will be wonderful. I love the loved noors.
Speaker 4 (01:51:11):
Okay, Wow, that's good. That's a good almost convincing. Yeah,
And I tell you what that was that was almost
as convincing as when Bill Clinton told us he didn't
do anything.
Speaker 6 (01:51:22):
Yeah, way, Buddy Sea on Saturday.
Speaker 4 (01:51:25):
Okay, so coming up on October the fourth, Uh, Speedy
and Greg will be Lord Willing in Piedmont, Alabama, Uh,
seven pm for Benissa's Foundation's Crap Run Yepaniel.
Speaker 3 (01:51:42):
Yeah. It's a great, great, great organization.
Speaker 4 (01:51:44):
They do great work for families that have a loved
one going through cancer treatment and those how horrible that
can be. They try to help lessen the blow with
you know, things people need going through that just things
you don't even think of. So you can be part
of this run by texting events to our text line.
Speaker 3 (01:52:05):
And apparently we have a piece of promotional Yes.
Speaker 6 (01:52:07):
We have someone that has actually committed to going and
shot a video of them training and rick for the
audio only, folks, you'll.
Speaker 3 (01:52:17):
Have to describe what you're seeing, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:52:18):
So this is this thing where people are taking big
foot type creatures and gorillas and they're using AI to
have them like talk as normal as anybody. And it
looks hilarious, Yes it does. So this is a gorilla yep,
wearing a Venissa's Foundation T shirt and a pink and
a Pink headband. Yep, and is now this gorilla is
(01:52:40):
going to tell us that he or she is training.
Speaker 3 (01:52:43):
Correct for the crap Run. That's right, okay, thirteenth Annual.
All right, here we go. I'm on my.
Speaker 22 (01:52:49):
Way to Vanissa's Foundation thirteenth Angel five K crap.
Speaker 3 (01:52:52):
Run coming from the Smoky Mountains.
Speaker 29 (01:52:55):
Anyone seen Speedy or Greg Burgess be sure to sign
up for the run online. It's on October fourth at
seven pm in downtown Piedmont.
Speaker 30 (01:53:05):
Ye.
Speaker 3 (01:53:06):
That's something else. That's incredible that he's doing that adventure
running too. Greg.
Speaker 6 (01:53:11):
You'll at least that that that thing and funny in
his mouth goes precious.
Speaker 4 (01:53:18):
Uh, that's fun. I will report to the audience. Great training.
I know it first down. I called him yesterday. Yeah,
this is it. It's like he picks up. Yeah, And
I was like, budd you are right, I'm running. I'm running.
I'm like, are you on to run right now? Hardly
talking about and I even said, well you can call back, no,
I just take you break this man, go ahead and
(01:53:39):
tell me. And of bread, I was like you concerned.
I was like, Buddy, you all right and he was
like yeah, I recover. So it was Cosia answerphone right
now if I call any of you? Yeah, yeah, pretty
important times, right.
Speaker 3 (01:53:59):
I fell off the ditch trying to get my phone
on my.
Speaker 6 (01:54:03):
Rick was full of weeds because you know, smooth, how
you getting to do it?
Speaker 3 (01:54:10):
It looks good. It doesn't matter. Are you Are you
going to run this time? I'm like Rick, I was
in charge of it. Are you going to run? I'm
gonna try it. You know, I was injured last year.
I ran it before, and uh, I.
Speaker 4 (01:54:22):
May try that stretch thing he does that means he's
not He does that stretch thing he does when he's
not complete. If Greg is not sure about something, he
does this introllable stretch. Like I feel pretty good. I mean,
I'm not gonna set a record. I said that guy.
We knew you weren' gonna set a record. I mean,
do you think I freaking run? But I almost want
(01:54:42):
to change my strategy and come out of the gate
just flying and see how deep I can get into
it for a crash and then kind of work my way.
Speaker 6 (01:54:50):
So you you're injured, right, yeah, I'm not. No, I'm
not gonna run, but me and I'm gonna hurt on
the bull.
Speaker 3 (01:54:57):
It's not. It's not a knee, it's just the Oh.
Speaker 6 (01:55:00):
Yeah, and I find if I find, if I'm like
running a mile, I get over that.
Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
Buddy, this starts. It's gonna be a game day decision
for me. He's just let's just go hang out, right,
Why was I last year? Now?
Speaker 4 (01:55:13):
I came many years. That kind of bothered me. I
didn't run it last year. Okay, look it's thirty minutes.
I'll start it by myself. You Greg, tell me I got.
Speaker 3 (01:55:23):
Where's he going to be?
Speaker 4 (01:55:25):
Let's decide would be only thirty minutes. Let's decide which
one is more credible. Greg, tell us that you regret
that you couldn't run it last year.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
I did say it.
Speaker 4 (01:55:33):
I've run it every say to me, I regret that
I couldn't run it last year because I had a
little the issue.
Speaker 3 (01:55:38):
Speedy, tell you can't wait for the wedding. I can't
wait for the wedding this Saturday for Phil. Okay, Greg's
more believable.
Speaker 4 (01:55:45):
Yeah, yeah, well, let's just call it.
Speaker 3 (01:55:49):
We'd rather run a five k than go to a wed.
Speaker 6 (01:55:51):
I got it, I got I got. I gotta tell
you though, Greg, we should have a pretty good time
when they all left and ran.
Speaker 3 (01:55:59):
Yeah, we did hit.
Speaker 4 (01:56:01):
That's so so don't heyies, don't be scared when everybody's going,
I'm going, hey man with right there.
Speaker 3 (01:56:07):
I couldn't get the horn to go off. Yes I do.
Speaker 6 (01:56:10):
I remember they were double collecting three trying to Greg
Almer's failed people will leave you a little about walking
the song?
Speaker 3 (01:56:20):
Well, Gray, were you walking us?
Speaker 4 (01:56:21):

One's got houghty toddy on the others got hell state,
sitting right next to each other, bitter, butting their bottom
(01:57:52):
lip elbowing yeah, asking to be moved.
Speaker 3 (01:57:55):
Can I move somewhere else?
Speaker 33 (01:57:56):
You know?
Speaker 4 (01:57:57):
Oh, your cousin Greg, Wow? Wow, there it is family
civil war.
Speaker 3 (01:58:05):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (01:58:05):
So a couple of things that will hit, and we'll
meet everybody here in a little while, so we'll get
all the information on. I will tell you this, and
I don't want this to compare to other groups. What
every group comes in here in their own way is beautiful.
I've never seen nine people bring so much stuff. I
mean there there are gift bags, there's one figure, there's
(01:58:28):
I mean, there's every everything you can possibly imagine. I
mean there's so much stuff, miles and miles and miles
of stuff. So thank y'all so much. Like Speedy said
correctly to all of you out there that support what
we do, we don't deserve you, We don't. Okay, So
let me hit a couple of things start the hour.
You know, Speedy has had an uphill climb trying to
(01:58:50):
get Greg and I to care about the ryder Cup
and I know we accomplished that. And I don't think
are cares about it either.
Speaker 3 (01:58:57):
I really don't.
Speaker 7 (01:58:58):
I don't, yeahod not.
Speaker 3 (01:59:00):
Everybody's just right here in the middle of football season.
Speaker 5 (01:59:03):
Who cares?
Speaker 6 (01:59:03):
I thought it was a little bit more well rounded
than not hearing football season? I call like horse with
blinders on.
Speaker 4 (01:59:09):
No, I'm committed to the things I enjoy and I'm
not all that interesting, right, I can't.
Speaker 3 (01:59:16):
I can't speedy.
Speaker 4 (01:59:17):
You got to say if you if you wanted to
talk to us about this football season, is not the
time to do it. You're asking me, can we be
more well rounded? And all the answers, No, I can't
help matters. Let's hell, let's watch Let's watch Greg and
Adler and meanless.
Speaker 3 (01:59:32):
See if this helps. This helped me. I didn't have.
Speaker 4 (01:59:34):
Here's Rory as we call him, right, you're supposed to
call golfer's by their first name.
Speaker 3 (01:59:37):
Right, No, it's not a no.
Speaker 6 (01:59:40):
Some have a very distinguished, distinguished bull like here it
is you have.
Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
I'm just saying. But then you might say Patrick, You're
like who you talking about? So Rory? Am I supposed
to say? Here's what Rory said? You can? Yeah, if
you got one act, you know, want to act like
you know what you're doing. Okay, all right, Rory.
Speaker 4 (01:59:57):
Rory had some things to say about America taking on
the European trash.
Speaker 3 (02:00:02):
Here we go.
Speaker 33 (02:00:03):
Everyone wanted to make it in America. It's the land
of opportunity. I still believe it's the greatest country in
the world. And if you come here and you work hard,
and you dedicate yourself, you can you can be or
do whatever you want. I am unbelievably grateful and lucky
that I got to come to America early on. And
(02:00:23):
I think success is celebrated here. I think there's a
there's a wonderful sense of work ethic and yeah, as
you know, I live here. My wife is American, my
daughter is American. You know, I have a lot of
affinity towards this country and and I think everyone that
lives here should have that same affinity because it is.
(02:00:44):
It's a wonderful It is a wonderful place.
Speaker 4 (02:00:48):
Talk for Northern Ireland. Oh, I just wish you'd said that,
like maybe February.
Speaker 3 (02:00:55):
Is he American?
Speaker 18 (02:00:56):
Not He's not.
Speaker 3 (02:00:57):
He's on the European team. Gosh, I thought he's from Cleveland.
Speaker 4 (02:01:01):
Wait a minute, I'm supposed to like the guy that's
playing for the other team.
Speaker 3 (02:01:04):
I didn't say you had to like him.
Speaker 16 (02:01:06):
You like what he there?
Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
What he said? Well, I think I think my wife's American.
Can't he play for us?
Speaker 6 (02:01:11):
I think I heard it best described this way. It's
okay to like him, but not this week?
Speaker 7 (02:01:16):
Okay, I got I like what he said, America right.
Speaker 3 (02:01:20):
Bright a couple of right now, and we're we're not
doing well.
Speaker 8 (02:01:24):
Oh really, isn't Trumph gonna?
Speaker 3 (02:01:28):
Yeah he is them, I'm gonna.
Speaker 7 (02:01:30):
Brice edition Bo was like, yeah, maybe hopefully that'll help
motivate us.
Speaker 3 (02:01:33):
A little bit.
Speaker 4 (02:01:34):
Well, I heard that Trump's actually going to take a
player's place and play. Now, yeah, he probably you know,
he could a fantastic golfer. You don't believe it, Just
asking you understand. I'm not saying you have to like
golf over football. I'm just saying enjoy football and it
be the greatest. And I don't disagree with that. But
you can also look over at something too.
Speaker 3 (02:01:53):
I'm confused about that.
Speaker 4 (02:01:55):
I'm supposed to look I'm supposed to be excited about
American golfers. When we had some Northern Ireland person tell
me he plays for the other team.
Speaker 6 (02:02:03):
Right, but like he said, I mean he's here, he
lives here. I mean, but well, then he ought to
play for us, except Straca, who's playing for Europe. He
lives in Birmingham.
Speaker 4 (02:02:13):
They should be playing for us. They're gonna come take
our stuff and then play against us. They're gonna enjoy
our quality of life and play against us.
Speaker 14 (02:02:20):
They took our jobs. They're gonna be for liberty. You
give us no loyalty. Oh well, well, ain't free. It
ain't free, Rory. And what's the other guy's name? Hyaka?
Speaker 3 (02:02:36):
What's the other guy's name?
Speaker 7 (02:02:37):
It's Hiaka?
Speaker 3 (02:02:38):
Yep, that right, y'all. Area. Who's the person who lives
in Birmingham except Straca? Oh, striker Straca?
Speaker 6 (02:02:46):
Okay, striker, Oh yes, striker serious? If I could get
you right now, I thump you right in the neck. O.
Speaker 3 (02:02:52):
The striker is a cool name. He should change it.
Speaker 7 (02:02:57):
He should change his name, should he?
Speaker 16 (02:02:58):
Really?
Speaker 24 (02:02:59):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (02:03:01):
Okay, Now let's go to football, think the lord, all right,
let's go to football.
Speaker 3 (02:03:05):
What golf, Tony Gonzalez? Do you agree with this? He says?
Russell Wilson is playing himself out of the hall. Of Fame.
Oh oh.
Speaker 4 (02:03:16):
Oh, you look at his stats that were very impressive
early and what have you got stats now?
Speaker 3 (02:03:20):
Like ten pro bos, here's Pro Bowl, Yes, all that. Yeah,
he's a good golfer too, Do you know that? I
didn't know. Maybe he can take it out.
Speaker 4 (02:03:28):
He have time, because he as good as striker buddy, Okay,
go ahead.
Speaker 3 (02:03:32):
I thought it was stricer in.
Speaker 34 (02:03:34):
His career, his legacy, like you talked about if ever
there was somebody who played himself out of.
Speaker 3 (02:03:40):
A Hall of Fame. Oh, it's Russell Wilson.
Speaker 34 (02:03:43):
And I say that because look at what he's what's
happened ever since he left Seattle. When he was in Seadur,
he was the man. He was making these good plays.
He won a Super went to two of them. But
as soon as he left there, he went to Denver
sign that big old deal. They paid him thirty nine
million dollars to leave.
Speaker 3 (02:03:55):
He goes to Pittsburgh, plaser.
Speaker 34 (02:03:56):
One year he's out of there, and now he goes
here and has three games. I just don't know it's
gonna get any better. And I don't want to see
him on a sideline holding the clipboard.
Speaker 3 (02:04:04):
So you're very much under the what have you done
for me lately?
Speaker 12 (02:04:06):
And taking away the first, you know, decade of his career.
Speaker 34 (02:04:10):
Absolutely, and I just don't think he's done himself any
favorite since he left Seattle, and I don't start how's
it going to get better?
Speaker 24 (02:04:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 11 (02:04:16):
I agree, I agree. I think you got to judge
his career off. When the legion in the boom was there,
you had a legendary defense and all time defense, and
how much success he had, and then without that legendary defense,
the success he had without that legendary defense, he's been
four and eleven, seven and eight on in three to
start with the Giants like that's he was a winning
football player in Seattle and people said, hey, winning his
(02:04:38):
football player, all this good stuff, all these accolades, and
now you get to go on your own and you
get to prove, hey, I'm this great quarterback, I'm this
guy that's gonna be dominant, and it just hasn't worked
out that way.
Speaker 3 (02:04:48):
Oh hm, taking credit for defense. Richard Sherman, the second one.
Speaker 8 (02:04:52):
The guy that was talking just in was part of that, Lise.
Speaker 4 (02:04:55):
And by the way, who's surprised by the fact that
the guys are talking about what he's doing now.
Speaker 3 (02:05:00):
The woman's never forgotten what he did in the past. Yeah,
they don't forget.
Speaker 4 (02:05:04):
They don't forget, you say the first thing she said,
Oh so you're about what have you done for me lately?
And you know what she says, I remember everything he
did in the past. Well, yeah, every woman remembers every
single thing we did in the past.
Speaker 3 (02:05:15):
There you go.
Speaker 8 (02:05:16):
I don't know if that's the takeaway, Rick.
Speaker 3 (02:05:18):
I'm sorry that was my takeaway that way.
Speaker 20 (02:05:19):
I don't know who.
Speaker 7 (02:05:20):
It was funny to hear Richard Sherman talk about that legend.
Speaker 4 (02:05:24):
This show was good when he had people like me
playing on his team. When we come back a Burgess
Ball Battle, Oh yeah. We take people that are just
getting along just fine. That boy he's Ander, and we
throw them into competition and the winner has a shot.
Speaker 3 (02:05:40):
At the wheel.
Speaker 1 (02:05:42):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, doing what he was
born to do. The big budgets.
Speaker 3 (02:06:00):
We're back.
Speaker 4 (02:06:01):
Thank you for being with us. The Vox seats are full,
and it's time for us to take two folks and
let them go ahead to head and a little something
called Burgess Ball Battle that has been producing quite a
bit of cash lately. We send Speedy over to the
court to introduce the two people out of the box
(02:06:24):
seats that will play each other.
Speaker 6 (02:06:26):
All right, Rick, everybody's smiling and getting along until now yep,
all right, first one drone Carissa, miss you.
Speaker 35 (02:06:33):
Oh Carissa, come on girl from Julina.
Speaker 3 (02:06:39):
Yes, she will take on Mark Kencervik Mark?
Speaker 5 (02:06:44):
Where Mark?
Speaker 3 (02:06:44):
Come on Mark, Let's go Mark, Let's at least shake
hands and okay, there we go. All right.
Speaker 6 (02:06:50):
We have Carrissa to the left, Mark to the right.
For those of you that cannot see, and we've got
thirty seconds. First twenty seconds. Everything counts as twos. The
last ten seconds is this three?
Speaker 3 (02:07:00):
Okay, so don't give up. You could come back and
ready go. Let's go, we go. Let's got a second.
Oh my gracious, we're not building a house. All right,
Here we go out. Chrissa is up to nothing. Oh blessed,
Mark's hard. Why come on, Mark. It's four to two, Carissa,
come on, Mark, last.
Speaker 36 (02:07:15):
Four to four?
Speaker 3 (02:07:16):
Now, sixteen second left. Chriss is up six to four,
eight to four. It's ten to six, last ten seconds.
Speaker 5 (02:07:23):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (02:07:24):
It's ten to eight. It's thirteen to eleven, Carissa, sixteen
to eleven. Carissa, it's five seconds left. It's nineteen fourteen. Chrissa,
twenty two to fourteen.
Speaker 6 (02:07:32):
Carissa c ask one second, it's twenty five fourteen.
Speaker 3 (02:07:36):
Carissa whins c.
Speaker 4 (02:07:41):
Win.
Speaker 3 (02:07:42):
Don't sit now, Mark, don't sit down, Mark, don't you
sit down?
Speaker 15 (02:07:49):
All right?
Speaker 4 (02:07:50):
So Mark, here's how it works. Listen, is how it works. Mark,
you lost, which means you have to now spin in shame. Uh,
you will say it is not will to me. Now, Carisa,
if he spends something you want, you just take it
because you won. Now, if you take a pass on
(02:08:10):
what he spends and say I think I can do better,
that's okay, you the winner, you can. But that means
whatever he's spun is gone. You can't go back and say, well,
I'll prefer to have that again, all right, So you
got to make that. So Mark, you you are now
approaching the wheel, basically spending for the winner, and you
you scream out it's not will to me and give
(02:08:32):
it a spin.
Speaker 3 (02:08:33):
It's not will to me, y, i'd way.
Speaker 18 (02:08:36):
Mark.
Speaker 4 (02:08:36):
Now, let's say, Carissa, pay attention, pay attention, see what
the will produces for you. Here we go and look
you're here, look you here, look you here, no, there
goes one thousand dollars. And okay, so if you'd like
to come back and be on a future show, you
now have vox seats again, that we will you will
(02:08:57):
get for sure. Now if you think seats, I'm here today,
I'm in the box seats. That's not a new experience.
I want to take my own spin. You can't. You
can ask the family, ask them what they sure, of
course you can. They want you to spend it, all right,
So now you say now, you say it. You say
it's will to me because you want it's will to me,
(02:09:21):
and then spend it.
Speaker 15 (02:09:22):
It's will to me.
Speaker 5 (02:09:27):
Your dollars.
Speaker 3 (02:09:29):
Oh look they're so nervous. Look at their faces, coming
coming around, coming around, going around.
Speaker 4 (02:09:40):
Oh no, no, no, you have fun.
Speaker 3 (02:09:48):
Beth Mowings, Marty Mark, Oh, Beth Mowings. Take it this same,
It's okay, this is bath Mowings. Oh, here we go.
Hi's a burgess ball battle.
Speaker 5 (02:10:04):
Carissa.
Speaker 3 (02:10:05):
I miss you and speaking I miss you. I miss
Calvin Wilburn.
Speaker 35 (02:10:09):
What I wish I wish I could bring me here, rubbies,
little bald head.
Speaker 5 (02:10:14):
I tell you what I.
Speaker 35 (02:10:15):
Went and asked for as a rubbing Calvin's ball again,
I wouldn't get a name.
Speaker 3 (02:10:18):
Now, what do you think about the big games this weekend?
The game's coming up?
Speaker 9 (02:10:23):
Look over here.
Speaker 35 (02:10:24):
We got Mississippi State taking on old Missing No, no, no, no, no,
not each other this weekend.
Speaker 3 (02:10:30):
You're in the seats.

where you had the devil worshipers in the woods. Did
your parents ever find out it was you all involved
in the.
Speaker 3 (02:19:26):
Years years years years years later?
Speaker 4 (02:19:29):
And and you know, one of those things we noticed
with Mom a couple of things. We thought that there
was a time limit that like mom could get to
the point that we're grown men, that she would no
longer could be angry with us about things we're wrong.
Every time we've tried to say, I think we can

Okay.
Speaker 12 (02:20:50):
Gary Evines has got to do that book of wisdom, yes,
and the cookbook, although that would be hard to do
since he doesn't really write down that.

Trying that makes.

So there they are. Look at them.
Speaker 4 (02:22:13):

Speaker 3 (02:30:27):
Is this almost like a mending of.
Speaker 4 (02:30:29):
The bridge between the George Strait people and Greg? And
he does this poem that George Strait did, and you know,
we'll see if Greg can do it as well as
George Strait. No, probably you the audience, So let me
get you a little mood music. Read Now, what is
it called?
Speaker 3 (02:30:44):
It's called Let me just tell you.
Speaker 4 (02:30:46):
I've vaguely read over it because I like to go
into a little unprepared legacy of a rodeo man and
written by Baxter Black. No dig at Baxter, but it's
no John Wilburn. I'll say, Oh, okay, that's the ones
I normally read.
Speaker 3 (02:31:00):
This is what of a rodeo man? Legacy?
Speaker 4 (02:31:02):
Rick, legacy of a rodeo man, I don't know, as
read by Greg Burgess.
Speaker 3 (02:31:07):
Greg, when you're ready, then.
Speaker 4 (02:31:08):
Go, There's one hundred years of history and one hundred
before that, all gathered in the thinking going on beneath
his hat.
Speaker 3 (02:31:18):
The cold flame burns within him till.
Speaker 4 (02:31:20):
His skills as cold as ice, and the dues he's
paid to get here are worth every sacrifice. Yes, all
the miles spent sleepy driving, I can relate to that,
all the money down the drain, all the ifs, the
eyes and nearly's, and all the bandages and the pain,
all the female tears left drying, all the fever and
(02:31:43):
the fight are just a small down payment on the
ride he makes tonight. It's guts and love and glory
one's mortal chance at fame. His legacy is rodeo, and
Rick Cowboy is his name.
Speaker 3 (02:31:59):
Where'd you get that?
Speaker 16 (02:32:00):
Good?
Speaker 3 (02:32:00):
Greg? Did y'all like that? I was there? We got
to have a point, Greg, Look it's pretty good, old point. Well, John,
there's no John Wilburn. But it looked like that.
Speaker 4 (02:32:11):
Maybe also a rodeo legend might be a lady's pet
and a man's regrets.
Speaker 3 (02:32:15):
Sound like it didn't.
Speaker 4 (02:32:16):
Yeah, lets lest some ladies crying. Yeah, tears are drying.
Look we you know we saw that back a long
time ago. Every time Speedy would pack up the playhouse
and leave.
Speaker 3 (02:32:24):
Yeah, tears, He'll stop it. What a good job, Greg,
What do you think Mark? Does that sound good?
Speaker 4 (02:32:33):
You've heard George Straight read it as well. I guess yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:32:38):
You mean for all the George Straight fans.
Speaker 4 (02:32:41):
If you're not George Straight fan, his fans will let
you know that you're I believe me.
Speaker 3 (02:32:46):
I've got many emails, and ye, I was just having
a little fun. Come on.
Speaker 4 (02:32:50):
By the way, people say it's just just moved him, Greg,
I'm sure it really has. I like it choked up
a couple times.
Speaker 3 (02:32:58):
Of course you did. What if I had? What if
I just all would make fun of me at all? No,
not all sad. I was pulling for it. Yeah, I
know you were. Uh, why do we do that for
each other?
Speaker 4 (02:33:10):
Because anything that goes bad is actually good. How did
you feel in their speed during that?
Speaker 3 (02:33:15):
I was okay. I mean in here, I see what
Adler talks about. What is it like in there?
Speaker 6 (02:33:20):
And you find there's a sense of you can escape everything.
You don't think that it's real. You know, it's like
you're in here and you kind of distance yourself from
the chaos in there.
Speaker 3 (02:33:32):
How about you give us a drum selling like he does.
I can't do it. Did you know what I've never noticed? Greg?
Speaker 4 (02:33:38):
If you just take away and just you know, just
say how he's standing. Can't you see us coming down
to visit him in prison, and like behind the glasses,
behind the glasses there's a little that we slight stuff too,
drug trafficking and something like that.
Speaker 3 (02:33:53):
Yeah, I will say this.
Speaker 6 (02:33:54):
The camera for you you tubers is set to Adler's
height and it's cutting off half my head and I
hadn't adjusted it, so.
Speaker 3 (02:34:03):
Can can I know it's messy in there?
Speaker 1 (02:34:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:34:07):
How does it smell? It smells good? Okay, how bad?
You'll drip over stuff? Right, you know? Oh yeah, yeah,
don't don't look to walk around and look at that
green blob? Is there a fish still in there?
Speaker 9 (02:34:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 17 (02:34:19):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (02:34:19):
How bad is chin? It is? Uh? Chan, it's real bad. Chen.
From this side, I can't see the guy. Oh there
he is.
Speaker 4 (02:34:28):
Do you think that I know he's going he can't
defend himself. But it just feels like Adler's giving up.
Speaker 3 (02:34:34):
Yeah, he's thought that.
Speaker 4 (02:34:36):
One week he thought he was going down, right, I
think Chen, like you said, Greg surprisingly lives. Yeah, and
now it's like he thought he was gonna be done
with changing and he's just stopped it.
Speaker 3 (02:34:47):
He's he's taking that office to do list. That's what
it looks like.
Speaker 4 (02:34:52):
Yeah, right, if you leave us, have a great weekend. Uh,
don't enjoyed the archives this weekend, catch up on things
you might have missed top of the hour, if you
got more of the show. We're going to come back
to start next hour with unscreen phone calls.
Speaker 1 (02:35:07):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 31 (02:35:15):
Thank god, John, It's time for the Rick Bersons speedy.
Speaker 32 (02:35:30):
Broadcasting from the real world.
Speaker 3 (02:35:32):
All right, here we go, Thanks for being with us America.
Speaker 4 (02:35:36):
Adler is actually out, he had to leave early today,
but speedy Greg all here and we're ready.
Speaker 3 (02:35:42):
We're ready to go.
Speaker 4 (02:35:44):
We start this hour with unscreened phone calls, the most
dangerous ten minutes in radio. You feel like giving it real,
talking to people as they come in and reacting on the.
Speaker 32 (02:35:58):
Fly, broadcasting from the real So the box seats are here.
They've been enjoying themselves here today and we're going to
be taking your phone calls to start the hours.
Speaker 3 (02:36:10):
So if you want to join us, you definitely can.
Speaker 4 (02:36:14):
The number is eight eight eight, the number six Big
Vox and we are the daredevils of radio that have
started that this year with the debut of The Rick
Burgess Show, and you and the audience seem to really
enjoy it. I don't know what that says about you.
I really don't, but we enjoy the adventure as well,
(02:36:35):
I guess because at least you're enjoying it.
Speaker 3 (02:36:38):
So let's let's go. Here we go.
Speaker 4 (02:36:41):
Hello, Welcome to the Rick Burgess Show. Unscreen phone calls, Go.
Speaker 24 (02:36:45):
Ahead, Hendy, Rick, I just got one question for you.
Speaker 17 (02:36:50):
How the how did the Chicken cross.
Speaker 15 (02:36:52):
The Road get more laughs than the amazing joke of
how do you make holy water?
Speaker 24 (02:36:58):
I do not understand that.
Speaker 3 (02:37:01):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (02:37:03):
I think the fact that from a little kid and
I didn't see it coming, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:37:07):
That was it. Yeah that's funny, though he's offended.
Speaker 4 (02:37:09):
That's that is funny. Rick Burgess Show on screen phone calls,
Go ahead, Good.
Speaker 3 (02:37:15):
Morning, guys.
Speaker 18 (02:37:16):
First of all, I love the show, new and old.
I'm a proud spatchelor owner.
Speaker 3 (02:37:21):
Oh yeah, that's legend.
Speaker 18 (02:37:25):
Given to me my aunt who loves the show. I
have a suggestion or a twist for Burgess Ball. If
the winner spins and the loser spins, you know, not
getting to win. The loser spins and the winner wants
the losers prize, then they go double it or nothing
(02:37:48):
back at the Burgess Ball, and if the loser wins,
then he wins. He wins it all.
Speaker 3 (02:37:54):
Okay. I stopped listening halfway through. You know what. I'm
so sorry. Did anybody follow that? He lost me? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:38:02):
I'm like, you know, you got to know your audience.
I'm so sorry. That's not on you, It's actually on us.
All right, So let me look because something like this
was suggested. Is this what he was saying? Uh, this
is what was sent to me. I think you should
do a let's make a deal on the wheel. If
the winner spends five hundred or one thousand, the winner
(02:38:26):
could spend for double or nothing, but they have to
expend the exact same either of the five hundred they
are the one thousand.
Speaker 3 (02:38:34):
If they don't, then they lose it.
Speaker 15 (02:38:36):
All.
Speaker 4 (02:38:37):
That's not what he was talking. That wasn't okay, okay,
So can anybody tell me what he said? Anybody? I'm sorry, nobody,
I'm so sorry. And it sounded really good. I think
it might even have been something to consider. But I'm
so there was a moment in there where I needed
to turn the left and I just kept driving, did you?
(02:38:59):
And he kept going without me. I know you can
see him pulling on.
Speaker 3 (02:39:03):
I could see him.
Speaker 4 (02:39:04):
Like I said, Man, I was talking about something good.
Rick Barger's show. Unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 13 (02:39:10):
Hey, Rick, this pastor Jay from Arkansas. How you doing?
Speaker 4 (02:39:15):
Man?
Speaker 13 (02:39:15):
I just wanted to call real quick. Two things were three.
Actually today Febody cares. Erica Kirk is going to be
hosting The Charlie Kirk Show. And yesterday on their show,
his producers, COVID and all them, they went through all
the misquotes and all that and corrected the record, if
you will. But I just had to call in and
(02:39:38):
give honor where honor is due to one of the
giants of the faith, Vode Bokman Bomtman. And I don't
know if you've ever read his book, fault Lines, but
if you haven't, you need to read it because he
comes It was when all that BLM BLM riots and
all that kind of stuff was going on, and he
had written that book and it's coming from the the
(02:40:00):
demonic side of what's driving the racial division. And I
mean it is out, you know, just a giant voice
will be truly missed by me and I'm sure a
lot of other people. And I hate to do this,
but put you on speakerphone so I can read this,
and I'm gonna say it fast. His quote was, sometimes
God is glorified when six saints get well, but more
(02:40:22):
often than not, God is glorified when six saints die well. God,
bless you God, Thank you buddy, Thank you Jay.
Speaker 4 (02:40:29):
And we actually did read that quote earlier in the program,
and we did talk at length about Vodie Bachman's earthly death,
but thank you. I mean a lot of people probably
didn't hear it, So I'm glad you read that again.
Speaker 3 (02:40:42):
No doubt.
Speaker 4 (02:40:43):
That's definitely a warrior and certainly is getting a well done,
good and faithful servant. And I will try to read that,
but I've never read that book. That's a good idea.
I may order that Rick Burgess show unscreen phone calls
go ahead.
Speaker 24 (02:40:58):
Hey, minds were all mom be one listener from back
in the nineties. I just have a couple of questions.
Do y'all have interns anymore? I know you used to
have interns. I was just curious. I'm not trying to
be one. I'm fifty five years old.
Speaker 3 (02:41:10):
Yes, that would be creepy, I think, but yeah, but.
Speaker 24 (02:41:13):
Yeah, that would be weird.
Speaker 3 (02:41:14):
But fine, I was just curious. We we have had
a hard time with that.
Speaker 4 (02:41:20):
Everything dealing with with people has become more and more difficult,
and a lot of times you you kind of minimize
the drama by keeping the group of people.
Speaker 3 (02:41:32):
Working on the show smaller.
Speaker 4 (02:41:34):
But we also have made an effort to try to
let some interns work on the progress, some interest for summer, yeah,
for the summer next summer coming up. It hasn't been
that that easy. For some reason. It doesn't seem as
readily available, and it might be that the college is
also there's so much liability and so many things you
(02:41:54):
have to do and uh that people don't don't want
to do it anymore. But there hasn't been a lot
of success trying to land any uh And we start
out at first thinking do we even want any anymore?
But I think we have a couple that may be
coming in. Where we need interns the most is in
(02:42:15):
Adler's world. We don't really need them outside of that,
but in Adler's world, man, they could really do some
work and benefit because we are now in our industry,
content is king, and you're the demand. The demand on
the amount of content people won't is through the roof.
And with a staff as small as ours, I mean
(02:42:35):
we it's a lot of work on adlers, so that
that would be a place that I think people could
learn a lot and also benefit. But so yeah, it's
not from a lack of effort. But but it doesn't
seem as simple as it once was. But but I
think we have some coming in in next summer. Uh
Rick Burgess show unscreen phone calls, go ahead, Hi, this
(02:42:57):
is Chors.
Speaker 23 (02:42:58):
So I was listening to your I'm a podcast listener,
so I was listening to you talk about the books
that you read, and I was wondering if you have
a place that list of suggestions of books, because I've
already read How to Be Holy, the Holiness one and
(02:43:21):
the Oswald Chambers one. Yeah, so I just would like
more suggestions.
Speaker 4 (02:43:25):
Okay, here's a good one. J I Packer knowing God.
J I Packer Knowing God. That's a great one. So ok, yeah,
but you know, in Rix's Picks, you just came up
with a good idea. Us the under where we have
rix Picks on the website. I can put suggested books there.
So there we'll have suggested books by all of us.
(02:43:46):
Of course, Greg, I can't wait for your list. I
like to read, you know what. Of all of us,
Greg probably reads the most, and he's got some good
actually some really good ones. Yeah, so we used to
have that. Remember we had Greg's. It was the favorite
bathroom Bok books.
Speaker 3 (02:44:00):
You know what.
Speaker 4 (02:44:00):
We could go into Rick's pics and like list everybody's name.
Of course, you know Speedies would be picture books, but
everybody else, Yeah, you know what I mean? Yeah, the
other ones. You remember the pop up you're opening them
up in there? A castle, the horse move. I was
looking to speed He was listening because he's got a
lot going on. Everybody, But what do you like? It's
(02:44:23):
tough in there, isn't it. They ain't no high the fis.
You can't really defend yourself in there, can you. He
won't turn his mic on for some reason.
Speaker 3 (02:44:29):
Yes, well, I don't want to be a burden or
just to hear me clicking. But I'm fine. We're rolling,
big guy. Okay, you're doing right.
Speaker 6 (02:44:35):
Yeah, just a little muscle memory. You know, we had
done something in a while. It takes a little time
to right punch buttons.
Speaker 17 (02:44:40):
And all that.
Speaker 4 (02:44:41):
Ryan green Wood. This text says, give us your list
of books. He wants to read them.
Speaker 6 (02:44:44):
Yes, oh, my top one is how to save money
at Walmart. That's yea, how to get a free lunch
but act like you have your wallet and then lose it.
Speaker 4 (02:44:54):
That's another one, better one, fantastic. Ritt Bergership unscreen phone
calls go ahead.
Speaker 16 (02:45:01):
Yeah, hey, I love y'all show. Rick. I know you
put a little ball before a little ball, but I
had a question. This his reference with Beth Bwen. Okay,
I got to put another person in her category, and
I'd like to see what you guys think about it.
Joe Testatory, Joe.
Speaker 4 (02:45:21):
Testatory, I've heard him speed he saying yes, I mean no,
Joe Joe.
Speaker 6 (02:45:26):
He's good, but he's yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah, he
gets fired up.
Speaker 3 (02:45:32):
He does.
Speaker 6 (02:45:32):
I mean, I see what he gets really fire he does?
Speaker 3 (02:45:39):
He does. And that one you tell about Gus what's
his name, Gus Johnson. Gus Johnson, Hey Gus. And there
was the other day I was listening to who's just
like him? I mean just probably Joe. You heard it's
probably it was I saw Gus Johnson.
Speaker 4 (02:45:52):
I thought he was going to have a hemorrhage and
it was like a three yard out.
Speaker 3 (02:45:56):
Yeah, like four minutes into the game.
Speaker 4 (02:45:58):
Right, we'll be right, Max, say goes.
Speaker 1 (02:46:03):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the home of Greg Burgess,
America's life coach, The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 4 (02:46:28):
Okay, here we go, America. Thank you for being with
us today. We have had a blast, been around a while.
Speaker 3 (02:46:36):
We're in hour five.
Speaker 4 (02:46:38):
So have you missed any of that figured up on
the archives today? Are you following us on our podcast channel?
Are you have you subscribed to our YouTube channel notifications
they've been activated, so you know.
Speaker 3 (02:46:52):
What's going on. Okay, good?
Speaker 4 (02:46:55):
If not, you need to do that and you can
catch any part of the show that you might have
a miss. The text Nations saying, obviously y'all need an
in turn to clean mister Chin's boat.
Speaker 3 (02:47:06):
It's gonna take more than that.
Speaker 4 (02:47:07):
They're gonna take more than that the crew and so
it's a poor o Chin. He's a resilience has been
something to marvel at. It really has. You know, Speedy
talked about he if he reads books on how to
save money, So it had to be cheap. If you
want to save money, it's it's really not that complicated.
(02:47:27):
Just use our code big vox and take that and
go to my store dot com. Mike Lindell, Uh, you know,
he's one of these people. He's an American entrepreneur. He's
been highly successful, took a pill and went nuts. He
went nuts with his pillow. We all love it.
Speaker 3 (02:47:41):
I sleep on it every night.
Speaker 4 (02:47:42):
And now he says, I want to help other American
entrepreneurs that may face the same obstacles that I did
getting their product into the big box stores. You know,
those that are still surviving onto Amazon. You know, sometimes
you can't get it done. But he says, you can
come here to my store dot com. And boyd does
he have items I'm talking about. It runs the Gamut automotive,
(02:48:04):
bath and Beauty, of books and movies, clothing, food and drink,
garden and patio, home improvement, household essentials, kitchen and dining pets.
I mean, the list just goes on or about, you know.
So if you need anything, just go to mystore dot com.
See these American entrepreneurs. Take the code big vox and
save yourself some money. You also find that link by
(02:48:26):
going to Rick burgesshow dot com right there under the sponsors. Uh,
some other stories out today that we haven't covered. And
let's let's admit that that James call me. It's hard
to like him. Uh yeah, I saw kind of a pampas.
Oh uh and uh, you know they try to you know,
(02:48:47):
he's tall and he thinks he's shot.
Speaker 3 (02:48:50):
He's very tall.
Speaker 4 (02:48:51):
I'm walking down the hall and with all the right
on the video and wow he is.
Speaker 3 (02:48:56):
You know, And I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:48:57):
For some reason, I've gotten to the point if there's
any body that's a politician that's in trouble, I don't
think they're ever going to be held accountable other than
our ability to vote. But as far as legal things,
it just seems like you can't pin them. So the
pardon me is in the FBI. Guy people, when I
see this headline, Trump says, comby place to cloud over
the entire nation with crossfire, hurricane, and it looks like
(02:49:21):
he is going to be indicted. Uh, and it says
that you know, this was part of the process, and
he has been indicted for lying to Senator Ted Cruz
in twenty twenty. And but do you feel when you
see something like that I just don't sense. It seems
(02:49:42):
like we get we get built up on this kind
of stuff and then nothing ever really happens to him. Yeah,
I mean does it does it feel that way? Or
do you think something happened? I mean, I don't know,
especially now it's you know, nobody really cares. It's been
that long, right, well, you know, public what happened, you know,
should probably concern us. Yeah, but but but we don't
have we don't got the Golden Bachelor on got time,
(02:50:08):
right unless he becomes a golden Backtory, right, yeah, so
so that yeah, here also another attempt to These are
these kind of headlines, you know when you see something,
and we've been laughing about all these gotcha headlines. So
we all know that that COVID is a thing. Now
we all know where it came from, even though we
weren't allowed to say it, and nobody's come back and
(02:50:30):
said we're sorry that we've vilified all of you, uh
and and and tried to keep you from speaking, even
though everything you were you're wondering about turned out to
be true.
Speaker 15 (02:50:40):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (02:50:40):
But there's there's there's always going to continue to be
this attempt to, you know, with with fear and and
get you always have to read beyond the headline. So
you see the headline, now ready to terrify us again.
New virus strain And how about this, we got a
new strand uh, it's spiking in nine US dights and
(02:51:01):
you think, oh man, good night. COVID nineteen continues to evolve. Well, yeah,
just like everybody said it would like all viruses do.
And Greg, let me tell you what you can expect,
and I mean end of time. You know what you
can expect brain fog and coughing. I don't even know how.
I mean, I may just I may not even go
(02:51:23):
to this conference this weekend. Yeah maybe maybe maybe I
should stay at home because I would hate to get
sick and suffer through brain fog and coughing. But well, yeah,
when you get sick, you know what you normally you feel,
you feel, you feel like you have brain fog, and
then the very symptoms that go with whatever you got,
(02:51:43):
and with this one, it would be called I don't
want to cough. I don't want to have brain fog.
I don't want to feel bad. But I'm not gripped
in terror. You know that, you know the COVID still
exists and people get it and you do. Just like
every virus, there's another strand of it and you know that.
But but it just seems like this this never ends.
You know, there's there's ut They're always telling you there's
(02:52:05):
you know, some Mosquito's gonna get you.
Speaker 3 (02:52:07):
Tick's gonna get you, some viry this is gonna get you. Guys,
We've been, we've been. We've gone through.
Speaker 4 (02:52:15):
Our entire lives in this Falling Creation with various things
that can make you sick. That's just part of life
in the Falling Creation. And and what you try to
do is you try to live your life in a
way that if you do get sick, you you have
a great immune system, and you you minimize you know,
the effects that can have on you by by trying
to to keep your immune system strong. But you can't
(02:52:37):
live your life, you know, every time a headline comes down,
you go end of time?
Speaker 33 (02:52:41):
Have you?
Speaker 3 (02:52:42):
I mean, I've had people like just that are still
just wigged out by all this.
Speaker 4 (02:52:46):
And I know there was a lot of darkness in
the pandemic.
Speaker 3 (02:52:49):
And you see what it's done to Speedy. It's upset goodness,
and uh, he's got a hit by something. You okay there, buddy.
Speaker 6 (02:52:59):
Yeah, my headphones on. Tell you I'm taller than he is.
My headphones hit the mic. I'm fine, that's lay my
mic off.
Speaker 3 (02:53:07):
When that happened, you know what, I thought? A large
bird hit the window outside. I'm sorry that sounds. I
can't imagine how loud that was.
Speaker 4 (02:53:14):
Right, So, so just know that there's nine states where
people are getting the latest COVID in.
Speaker 3 (02:53:20):
They're experiencing brain fog and coffee. So there are symptoms
to manything.
Speaker 4 (02:53:26):
Right, Yeah, it's you know, you know what else they
call that, I don't feel good. Yeah, I'm we're having
that a home right now. And Lisas and not feeling good
at all.
Speaker 3 (02:53:36):
She doesn't feel good. You know, it has brain fog,
is a lot of.
Speaker 4 (02:53:40):
Coffee, and you know what, she just doesn't feel good.
But I'm when I'm sick, I don't feel I don't
feel good. An right, the bottom of the hour, we'll
be back.
Speaker 3 (02:53:52):
Stay close.
Speaker 1 (02:53:56):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. America sleeps well every
night just knowing these four men are on the air,
(02:54:18):
The Rick Worre your show.
Speaker 3 (02:54:21):
Here we go, Here we go, here we go. So
another day on the program.
Speaker 4 (02:54:30):
We thank you for being with us, and we have
had a blast today. So all right, a couple of
things coming out of emails, Hey Birch.
Speaker 5 (02:54:43):
Hey Birch.
Speaker 31 (02:54:44):
Emails rolling then, but we ain't turning.
Speaker 8 (02:54:48):
We're turning. It's full emails that time.
Speaker 3 (02:54:55):
But we're on a go. Birds on the mic, no time,
we're taking control. We're answer them all. So looking at
this one.
Speaker 4 (02:55:05):
But bless his heart, this guy keeps trying to explain
the thing about but he's still doing it. He's he said,
and and I'm reading the email and I still don't
understand that. He he says, sorry, I didn't explain that
burgess ball suggestion. Well, the bottom line is, if the
winner wants wants the loser spin, they replay the burgess ball,
(02:55:29):
winner takes all. Like I guess he's saying that if
the loser spins something that the winner wants, the only
way the winner can have it is to play again.
But he's but the winner's already won.
Speaker 3 (02:55:40):
I don't like that. I almost prefer that let's make
a deal over that.
Speaker 4 (02:55:43):
Yeah, the winners already won, so he the winner, winner
takes all. Yeah, the winner shouldn't have to win again? No, Yeah,
I mean, that's right, because because they can take either spin.
Speaker 3 (02:55:57):
Yeah, do we agree? I don't think the winner should
have to win again?
Speaker 4 (02:56:00):
Now yeah, okay, so anyway, not a bad that's all right,
not a bad suggestion. I get this a lot, even
talk to some of the box seats about some of
the things. I'm a tuber a tube city. I laugh
every time the commercial runs for Raycon that recorded. You
say that you like sometimes knowing what's going on around you,
(02:56:23):
so you know what's happening while you're walking the dog.
We all know you don't have a dog, and if
you did, you wouldn't you wouldn't allow it in your bed,
your role playing. You should change the wording and let
Speedy Gregor add their voice. That one love the show. Well, no,
here's here's one thing I will throw at you. Keep
in mind though I've had many dogs, okay, and I'm
(02:56:44):
living my best life now with no dog. It is
wonderful and love every minute of it. But I've had
times that I had dogs. But I still have family
members who have dogs, and from time to time, especially
at the farm, one of my sons and his wife
(02:57:04):
will bring their dog, and there could possibly be a
scenario that I would be walking the dog.
Speaker 3 (02:57:10):
It's not like rare, but it could. It is not likely.
Speaker 4 (02:57:14):
Like like Greg said, also, I could be role playing.
I'm I'm being the people out there who need to
walk a dog, you know, like Speedy who has never
ending dogs. Sure, I got a couple of yard dogs. Yeah,
but Greg, nobody don't want you to walk. Nobody walks
a yard dogh They just I look there they are,
and then look they're not, and then back. You know,
your yard dogs just kind of live a life whatever
limping you're going. I wonder what happened to it was
(02:57:35):
one of the It was one of the things. Yeah, yeah,
it was one of those things. Remember we took issue
and nice man, but he was like a dog trainer,
and he tried to sell us that the most joyful
dogs are the dogs that are have much constraints, like
being stuffed in that thing. Yeah, like a dog it's
too overwhelming if they have too much to deal with.
And I like to think about was every free range
(02:57:57):
dog I've ever seen? Now, Look, I understand there's a
reason not to have free range dog dogs because of
neighbors and things like that, but as far as thinking
the dog doesn't dig it. Oh, but intended dogs. These
free well, we had we had dogs that I don't
know where they came from. They weren't quite sure who
they belonged to. And they lived on the farm into
(02:58:21):
a ripe old age till they just weren't seen anymore.
We assumed death. Okay, yeah, those seen. I remember that
guy talking to us, and like I went down to
the farm, like I think we were leaving that same
day to go down there, and there was a dog
that was free range. And I watched that dog laying
(02:58:41):
in the sun on the bank of the pond, and
the dog literally, I don't you know, I know sometimes
dogs look like they're smiling. I think this dog was
a closest thing to a human smile I'd ever seen.
And I thought, this dog looks like it's one of
the most peaceful animals I've ever seen.
Speaker 3 (02:58:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:58:57):
Uh, and it looks and it looks more joyful than
the one in the in the in the case. You
we're not talking about dogs that aren't fed, No, and
you feed them and they're happy.
Speaker 3 (02:59:05):
No, I'm talking dogs that are able to live like you.
Speaker 4 (02:59:08):
You don't live in the area where it's okay to
have free range dogs and reminds me I got update
you remember I told you about there's two dogs that
aren't mine. They keep coming and my neighbors are not
very close at all. I don't know where they come from,
but they got callers. Well, they kept getting Lisa's pillows
and destroying them. I remember that, that's the last word.
So I had to put all the pillows that were
(02:59:29):
left and looking at us to get that foam everywhere. Sure,
well we look the other day of the Saturday morning
and there there again.
Speaker 3 (02:59:36):
They've got somebody else's pillow and brought it to my house.
Speaker 4 (02:59:38):
So they're grabbing pillows. They're doing they're grabbing pillows from.
Speaker 3 (02:59:42):
You got a pillow fetish? Yeah, but they want to
bring them to my house. I don't know. I mean
they belong to somebody, they're not strays. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:59:50):
So now they think, not only should they destroy Lee's pillows,
if they have a pillow from anybody in your area,
they're supposed to bring it to you. Lisa goes that
look in the middle of the driveway. I said, oh,
it's another one in pillows and it wasn't yours. And
then like they'll show up the house at two o'clock
in the morning, and they'll be on the front porch.
You know how dogs play, and they duck and they
(03:00:10):
go at each other right there, two o'clock in the morning.
Speaker 3 (03:00:13):
Now this is not Marty. He hasn't come back.
Speaker 4 (03:00:14):
I haven't seen Marty in years. But these these two
I don't. I don't they belong to somebody because I
have collars and they're in good shape. But I don't
know who they are. But let me tell you if
you've got a pillow thereafter oh if they want my
pillows and then they want to bring other pillows to my house. Okay,
so back to my original point. I know they can
be troublesome because you wish they wouldn't tear pillows up
in your yard. But I want I don't want to
focus on how it's affecting you. I want to focus
(03:00:36):
on how it's affecting them. Don't they seem joyful?
Speaker 3 (03:00:39):
Oh, they are joyful.
Speaker 4 (03:00:41):
These free range dogs don't seem like they're overwhelmed by
their freedom. They came up with this playing yeah, right,
a dog trainer that you pay Yeah, I mean no,
that two am. They're having a ball. I wonder where
the dog trainer meeting was on that. So they said,
here's what I'm gonna try to sell people belong to
that dogs that have could do anything they want to
or not happy. Yeah, we need to shove them in
(03:01:01):
his box at night and be sure and them we'll
say they're dem animals. Yeah, they love all that. Yeah,
they got to get in their crap. I want you
to imagine today, you go to one of your free
range dogs and you attempt, oh, but in some kind
of cake, trying to put mister buddy in a cage.
He'd go nuts, right, that's it. But then the other one,
I couldn't put her in the cagecause she won't come
to me. She can't stand right now, I hear meies.
(03:01:25):
I understand how humans would not prefer but prefer free
range dogs like in for instance, someone else's spillow was
torn up in your yard. But but I just this
thing that the dogs don't like it now that I
don't follow.
Speaker 3 (03:01:37):
They love it. You know. They love going to the
vet too, don't they.
Speaker 6 (03:01:41):
So yeah, that's her favorite. So it's time for for
cuddies annual, you know. And you're talking about the ninety
pounder and It's funny because the last time JC went,
they took him back and he said he just heard
that the awfless sounds. I mean just I mean, you
sound like things.
Speaker 3 (03:01:57):
Fucking over and all fairness.
Speaker 6 (03:01:59):
That was the day was right, Yeah, And the lady
comes out, she goes, well, we got everything done.
Speaker 3 (03:02:05):
We were trying to get that fecal examine.
Speaker 6 (03:02:07):
It didn't go well, she said, but we weren't able
to get that today. We might have might to bring
him back and I think we're gonna have to sedate him.
And I'm like, well, yeah, cut he don't you have
to you have to sedate me? Come in there with
that hook.
Speaker 4 (03:02:21):
Oh yeah, I mean nothing worse than He's like, no, ma'am.
Trip to the vets terrible. Oh yeah, my dog, because
like I said that, they don't a leash. I'll put
a leash on for that, and they go they hate it,
and Buddy will lock his brakes and just sit there
and I have to slide him and end up just
carrying him like this with him, so he just locks down,
has to drug.
Speaker 6 (03:02:43):
If if outside the door, if anybody ever rolled video
of me trying to get my dogs in the vet,
they'd probably call somebody because it looks like I'm torturing.
Speaker 3 (03:02:50):
I'm just trying to get him in there. But they
know it's amazing they can smell it. It's like they
know where. I don't know how they know.
Speaker 4 (03:02:57):
Yeah, back when I had dogs and went to the vet,
because I remember growing up taking your dog to the vet.
Speaker 3 (03:03:04):
No one did. We talked about that.
Speaker 4 (03:03:06):
Oh no, you know you if the vet went down
there to the city center and said bring your hunting dogs,
we'll dip them, people would do that. But I remember,
what is this new world of going to the vet
all the time with your dog? And the problem too
is you enter into the world of the animal people
(03:03:26):
and you know, you know what I've been through in there?
Speaker 3 (03:03:29):
Yeah uh there.
Speaker 4 (03:03:30):
Everybody could not be more joyful about the whole animal world.
And you know, every animal in there's being treated like
a human. You know, they asked me for my dog's
last name, that kind of stuff. Yeah what y'all were
laughing about him, and oh yeah, yeah, when they asked
me what my dog's last name was, of course didn't
have a last name.
Speaker 3 (03:03:48):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:03:48):
Yeah, isn't he part of the family. He belongs to
the family. He's not bud Ken and although I spend
about as much money on it my children.
Speaker 3 (03:03:59):
Yeah, because hey, thet they like it. Oh the vet
they look they like the vet's all right, they did,
And I mean we gotta have them. You gotta have them.
I don't blame them. And they do all right. And
you know you probably want a good one.
Speaker 16 (03:04:12):
You vet.
Speaker 3 (03:04:12):
Yeah, I agree, honestly, I have no problem in all.
By the way, we have people that take best to
spa days. Don't miss that. I'm gonna take mister buddy
do a spa day.
Speaker 17 (03:04:24):
I go.
Speaker 3 (03:04:24):
Well, we'll be back stay closer. We'll wrap up this
hour for one more segment right after there.
Speaker 1 (03:04:32):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who was
bold enough to point out that there is no such
thing as dog years. Dogs just don't live as long
(03:04:56):
as humans.
Speaker 3 (03:04:58):
Rick Birches, It's truth, nothing to be ashamed of. That's fine.
We're back.
Speaker 4 (03:05:05):
Thank you America for your time today. Some of us
are wrapping up our time not just today, but for
the week, and there's archives available for anything you may

(03:06:08):
I have been on my own this week or sure
he's out of town. And uh so I was gonna
ask you a couple of questions. I'm getting things ready
today hurts because I'm you know, possible I'll be leaving. Yeah,
and there's a couple of things that I'm trying to
get right.
Speaker 3 (03:06:27):
Do you finally make the bed up? Yeah? Clean up?
The bed is still not made? What well done that
this morning for you?
Speaker 15 (03:06:36):
Last?
Speaker 9 (03:06:36):
Well?
Speaker 3 (03:06:36):
Here what at three o'clock in the morning, you're up? Uh,
but I gotta go. So the nobody expects you to
do that at that time of day. They don't. But
I'm just saying you're leaving. You're not going home. I'm
leaveving on a jet plane. But so you're not returning
back to the house at all today.
Speaker 6 (03:06:59):
Oh so you left it an unbabe, unmade bed when
she gets home.
Speaker 3 (03:07:05):
Well, Sherry has been a little gray on on.
Speaker 4 (03:07:08):
It's possible, possible, but I will return tomorrow in time
to be ready if she decides she's coming on in,
uh tomorrow evening.
Speaker 3 (03:07:21):
So you're banking on tomorrow morning, the gamble tomorrow morning.
You won't be home till after lunch. I know, Greg,
I know that that's what.
Speaker 4 (03:07:29):
There's run home right now. So no, And and here's
the tim dishes out of the same here's a.
Speaker 3 (03:07:34):
Couple of things wau Indrey probably everywhere. Oh yeah, here's
mogg the toilet both you know it. Let me throw
this out.
Speaker 4 (03:07:42):
I love my wife so much and I miss her
so so dang much, and I can't wait to see
her when she gets home.
Speaker 3 (03:07:49):
It must be bad. No, but here's the thing.
Speaker 4 (03:07:53):
She said, Well, there's a chance I may not come
back in until Sunday. You're willing to take that chance?
And and here's the thing. What if she comes in
like I hadn't seen her in a long time, and
she comes in right when the Alabama Georgia game starts, and.
Speaker 3 (03:08:09):
At least you won't to be at a wedding. Oh yeah,
you're more shape than I am. No, I can't wait
to go to the way. Yeah, I know you can't that.
You know, most men love it. You know how dear
that family is to me. No, that's why you how
it is you're going to the wedding.
Speaker 6 (03:08:24):
Yeah, that's that's not even a question, not not even
a Hey, I wonder if we'll go.
Speaker 4 (03:08:28):
No, we're going right, you know, and it's family, Rick,
So you're and the time could be right in the
middle of the afternoon games and and then mess up
the evening games.
Speaker 6 (03:08:38):
Yeah, Terry, not really understanding how important it is. She says, well,
you'll get to see kickoff and then we can leave.
I'm like, well, yeah, let's do that. Let's watch kick
off and leave.
Speaker 3 (03:08:48):
Yeah, honey, let me really get into the game then
let's go.
Speaker 6 (03:08:52):
Okay, but you see, I know you're a veteran back
to to Sherry coming home. Greg and I both kind
of think that you've kind of fumbled a little bit.
You should have been You should have left the house
this morning, everything done and and that way she can
come home even if like after you return from Texas tomorrow.
Now you got I got to clean the house on
(03:09:13):
your mind. You could have already been done.
Speaker 4 (03:09:16):
There's not much left to do. I haven't been home
enough to even mess it up. You should have slept
on the cash last night, made a bed up.
Speaker 3 (03:09:23):
I thought about that.
Speaker 4 (03:09:24):
Our go go sleep in one of the rooms that
she won't checked for a while, or get them go
get your hotel room MATEO, hey babe, just checking with you. Yeah,
what are you doing? I'm at a hotel? What I'm
at the Best Western?
Speaker 3 (03:09:40):
Backed out of the house. It was clean, so I
didn't want to go back in. Did you have something
I had to go to it?
Speaker 9 (03:09:44):
No?
Speaker 4 (03:09:44):
About No, I'm actually still in Birmingham.
Speaker 3 (03:09:47):
The house was this clean. I didn't want to bother
all right. Let me ask you this.
Speaker 4 (03:09:49):
When you're completely on your own and I saw somebody
text about this and you have worn something and you
can't find a stain on it and it looks like
everything's okay, Well you just hang it back up as absolutely.
Speaker 3 (03:10:03):
Yea if it doesn't be if you have any smell
or stains.
Speaker 4 (03:10:06):
Now, if it's been a real hot, humid day, then
gonna work. But right now the weather's been okay last
few days, why not have to build laundry?
Speaker 3 (03:10:13):
Yeah, exactly, just keep wearing it.
Speaker 6 (03:10:16):
I tell you my bum around clothes around the house.
I'll stay with that for days. Get all sweaty.
Speaker 3 (03:10:22):
I've used hanging out, I've used one glass. Just keep
it's not near. I just keep wrenching it out and here,
just try that again. Yeah, I'm just worried about laundry
in the room. So come about piles of laundry. Oh yeah,
you know it that looks good?
Speaker 4 (03:10:36):
Had food that I that I could have prepared last night?
I ate out, so I wouldn't have dishes, that's right.
Speaker 3 (03:10:42):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:10:43):
So I don't know. I'm coming down to the wire
on this one. So my wife expects the bed to
be made once she gets home.
Speaker 6 (03:10:50):
I don't know what she expects. I'm just saying it
would have been nice for her to come home to
a bit yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:10:55):
Made up bed. Yeah, okay, you know what you wonder
your wedding and worry about it.
Speaker 4 (03:11:00):
I mean, when you get back your half Nice's clothes
you wore, you hang them up and we're on the church. Yeah,
when you get back from the wedding and the games
and everybody screaming you missed it, then.
Speaker 3 (03:11:09):
Rick, it could.
Speaker 6 (03:11:15):
Posted up my phone was like the greatest game they've
ever played.
Speaker 3 (03:11:18):
I mean, just blow them up. Look, I've had this happen.
Speaker 4 (03:11:21):
I've missed a big game before over something like this,
And there's no worse thing for you to look.
Speaker 3 (03:11:27):
And your buddies also start to texting, Yeah, I can't.
Speaker 4 (03:11:35):
What is there a sight of you that kind of
hopes the game goes bat so you didn't miss it?
Speaker 6 (03:11:42):
Well, no, here, here's the deal. For some stupid reason,
and I don't know why. I feel like sometimes if
I'm watching the game, that's affecting the game, and I
have Let's all be honest, if you're watching, it has
nothing to do with what's happening. But sometimes I'll walk
away from a game and I come back in it's
like we've scored or you know what, you name your sport,
whatever team you're pulling for, is doing better, and you think, stupidly, well,
(03:12:05):
I don't need to watch anymore, you know, when really
had nothing to do with it.
Speaker 3 (03:12:08):
I was standing up with this happened.
Speaker 6 (03:12:10):
Yeah, so what it will probably happen is I'll go
off to the wedding and something just fabulous will happen,
and I because it's because.
Speaker 3 (03:12:15):
I wasn't watching.
Speaker 4 (03:12:16):
I've always thought, who knows any any team I was
connected to, either by dad coaching or son playing. Yeah, okay,
I've always thought for some I'm with you, that my
presence is messing this whole thing up.
Speaker 3 (03:12:31):
I would be.
Speaker 4 (03:12:32):
Better off not to know anything about it. And everybody
tell me it went well, just grinding through it. I
mean your life, you're losing years. Yeah you have you
ever done that? And there's a game you want to
see and you really want to see, and you tell everybody,
don't tell me what happened, and you DVR or whatever
you got and come back and watch it, not knowing
how it ends. But like later that night, have you
(03:12:54):
ever done that? Not knowing? I would prefer to know. No,
I'm saying, come in and say I'm on DVR this whatever,
done that, don't a wody tell me what happened, and
I'm gonna come home and watch the whole game. Never
done it? The good party, you can fast forward through
the commercial. But you know, I've never done you make
a living off commerce?
Speaker 3 (03:13:08):
It's a bad party.
Speaker 4 (03:13:09):
Really, Actually, you need to listen to more commercials. No,
I've never done that. I know people who do it.
I've never done that. Now I would rather hear how
it went everything so I can be prepared.
Speaker 15 (03:13:20):
I agree.
Speaker 3 (03:13:22):
Back to you and leaving a sloppy house?
Speaker 6 (03:13:24):
Do you remember do you remember when Brody was down
at camp house and you were worried did the deer
heads get put back in order?
Speaker 3 (03:13:30):
It could be the bedroom, the light in the bathroom,
that's her deer heads. How do y'all feel about stripping
the bed night like I'm washing the sheine. That's not
a movie. That's not bad movie. You're like, yeah, go
