the weekend. You, America have given us mush to ponder

(00:57):
today and as all ways, there'll be a lot of
participation from you today via text, email, or phone calls.
The number eight eight eighty six Big box, the text,
same number, emails all there at Rickbergersshow dot com. Click
on the team. You'll see everybody's email, Instagram and ex

(01:21):
account all there for you. Let's go, America. Let's go America.
Somebody shouting back at us, somebody safe? And here we

(01:44):
you go. And so you heard the great Ken Osborne, Speedy,
Greg Adler all here back from the weekend. Everybody, give
me a mic check. Testing one two testing one, testing
one two one two from the team testing one and
check them indo. Hello, fellows, I'm come on in. Well,

(02:05):
if you've been one of those that have been paying
attention over the many years that we have all been
doing what we do, either all the way back on
the Rick and bubbas Show, thirty one years of that.
By the way, a new episode from Rick and Bubba's
Greatest Hits in Radio Gold the podcasts it posted this weekend.
If you haven't grabbed that, go grab that. But all

(02:26):
of us speedy now have been in the been probably
forty years, counting our time together and our time as
solo and now on the Rick Burgess Show, Adler and
Greg probably somewhere about half that now that we're getting here.
So we pulled the curtain back, and as you all
know when you arrived back at the old studio in
any given Monday, hang on, hang on, something not working right.

(02:49):
So far, so good. We'll just kind of ease our
way into that. We do have a lot lot to
do today. Let me tell you a lot of participation
from you. We're going to ask your opinion on whether
something gets a rename. Are we just stay with the
name that it had back in the Rick and Bubba days.
We'll ask your your your We'll ask you that question
and actually get you to participate today. Uh, we've got

(03:11):
a vox verdict today, Adler. I hope your robe and
wig and gavel is ready nice. It's always get we
got that today. Stories from the weekend, Uh, you know
it's it's probably you know you talk about never knowing
what a weekend will bring. I'll update you on my
trip to our fifty first date. Uh, so we'll talk

(03:32):
a little bit about about that. And then here you are.
And there's a reason it's called the Great White North.
Wow cold cold. So there's cold, and there's Canada cold.
Wow cold. Also spent a few moments in Buffalo. But anyway,
so and y'all cold, it's a pretty gold y'all cold? Yeah, okay,
it's so cold. And watching the Pearl Southern boy make

(03:55):
his way into that area, Yeah that was I thought
that was. I thought the strangest thing we would have
would be that Larry the Patch guys in Alaska, but
but I was wrong. So anyway, funny text off that
over the weekend, somebody said, I just realized that Larry
the Patch guy is one and a half hours from
where I live. Now, dilemma do I go to church
today or go find Larry? Go find That was guess

(04:16):
from yesterday. But anyway, so we have a lot to unpack.
We got some hay birds questions today. Greg. One one
at you today me that a listener's going to ask
you to ponder. Okay, yeah, yeah, kind of a little
bit of a would you rather? So we got that today.
So I'm in. Yeah, Turkey season opens tomorrow for our state.

(04:36):
A lot of you are already in. We're getting some
of your pictures. We had a visit, surprise visit with
with Gary on Friday. Yeah, and I'm in a bit
of a dilemma with Gary. A bit of a dilemma
is Gary has has Gary become too big a star?
Oh yeah, it was his management reached out to you.

(04:59):
Well it's uh, there's there's having a hard time getting
them to the farm now, okay, okay, Hey, I want
you to know I ain't been over the farm I
act for Friday. I've been making so many Turkey cars
I ain't had time to get over there signing hats.
And I thought to myself, you know, ten from storms
ago still not repaired, trees laying in roads, and is

(05:22):
this he's on fences to kind of keep things quiet
prior to Turkey Sea. So now the Turkey season here,
you can't give him to do anything that's all start
except hunt. So so anyway, we uh, I told him,
I said, I guess I'm gonna have to get now
I've got Gary, who everybody loves on the show, and
then I'm gonna have to find something else to do
the other I said, it's obvious one one's gotten too

(05:43):
big for the other show. Gary killed farm gar Yeah,
I mean it is right, celebrity Gary has killed farm
Geary farm had Gary is dead and now there's only
the Spurmaster there. So anyway, and really, frankly, as much
as he's loved on the show, that that might not
be a bad arrangement. So so anyway, we we we

(06:04):
have that. We got March madness over the weekend. Yeah,
we're down. I glued to that. Yeah, I bet you are.
I did not see any of it, didn't see any
of it. Yeah. The closest thing I came to basketball
over the weekend is when I saw where the Raptors
play there. You go, Yeah, that's true, it was interesting
not that far from where I was. So so we

(06:25):
we have a lot that what are we at sixteen already?
Are we down to the sweet sixte Yeah, okay, get
there in hurry. Wait sixteen, Well yeah, you get there
in hurry. So so we'll we'll gain we'll look at
that today. Got some emails about that today that we'll
we'll cover. And it's now I have not really kept
up what's going on in the world. I don't know.

(06:46):
I have no idea what's going on your weekend?

Speaker 2 (06:49):
And we'll learn more as his release.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
Is that still they still taking care of Gaza?

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Apparently they they took out another Hamas leader h From
of the reports, I'm saying sure, and I think, uh,
peace talks are in Saudi Arabia with Russia and Ukraine.

Speaker 1 (07:07):
I think that's going on. What a mess.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
I saw another Bertie Sanders walk out of an interview.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
I did laverne. I see a text on the text
option right out of the gate. Let's say it came in.
It came in yesterday about the series on Amazon? Is
an Amazon Prime series House of David? Is that there?
I think it is? You know Amazon and streamers? Yeah,
Amazon Prime will throw you. You'll see something on Amazon
Prime and then see it's from somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (07:32):
Is there?

Speaker 1 (07:33):
It is their thing? Yeah, So people are asking us
about what do we think about House of David's. I'm updated.
I caught up when we got back yesterday, just chilling
after we put everything in it back in its place
and just said, hey, let's just kind of chill here
till we go to bed, and caught up on the episodes,
and people are asking. I think Greg made the point

(07:53):
when we were off the air. Any anytime you're dealing
with anything that says I would even as far as
say even the Chosen. Uh, when you start dealing with
adaptations of scripture, don't ever miss the word adaptation. Yeah.
That's a crucial word. And you can get kind of
nutty with it, like when the Hollywood did Exodus, which

(08:15):
was and Noah, which when them Rocksters so was that Yeah,
And then you can get down to the like the
Chosen and a little bit of what seems so far
House of David, where we have some artistic freedom, but
the Bible still seems to be our foundation. Yeah. Uh.
And I'm not comparing House of David to be as
biblically accurate as the chosen, but even the chosen has

(08:40):
taken some artistic freedom. Yeah. Uh, And some of it
started getting more and more the longer it was around,
and as usual, the more popular it got. Uh. But
but anyway, so so House of David, we can weigh
in on that a little bit today. You know, there's
some there's some things theologically that you go, well, now
you're knowing one thing here, you know, and and the
thing of last night's episode, which is the latest on

(09:03):
where did Goliathe come from? You got a flood issue
there you got to work for. You got a flood issue.
You took a little bit of absolute the scripture says, happen.
And I'm with you. I was in that camp of
boy that'd make a lot of Goliath sense there. But
then we have a flood issue. So we'll we'll we'll
talk a little bit about it. Yeah, we'll break that
down a little bit today too. So you know, it's

(09:24):
we we got a lot to do. We're gonna be
we're gonna be action packed, we're gonna be fun. We're
gonna get a lot from you, uh, and we will
we'll take care of all that when The Rick Burgess
Show continues right after this.

Speaker 4 (09:47):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
So one of things we need to discuss today is
here we are approaching the month of May, which will
feature Mother's Day. Mother's Day is a biggie, you know,
our thirty one years of Rick and Bubba. We tried
desperately to see if we could elevate elevate Father's Day
at least to the same level of Mother's Day. I

(10:16):
don't think that we ever fully accomplished that. And one
of the reasons. We tried different versions with our friend
Thomas Dudney, the dentist that does the veneers and the makeovers,
and we had you know, the Mama makeover, we had
the dad, we had a military one time, and honestly,
the only one that seemed to garner the kind of

(10:37):
support you would want would be was the mother one.
Let's just call it. Let's just call it true. Nobody
cared about dad's mouth, not real dad's teeth, And sadly
and sadly, we didn't care about America's teeth when we
try to do military. Yeah, so forget about that. Yeah,
military didn't work in not much of a response. So
now we have had people respond to military discounts and

(10:59):
opportunity and he's in other ways in a big way,
but something about their teeth. People just didn't seem to care.
I don't and I don't know why. So here's where
we are. Dudney is all in.

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
He he was all in on Rick and Bubba and
he's all in on the Rick Burgess Show. Right.

Speaker 4 (11:16):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (11:16):
And so is there a need, since this is the
Rick Burgess Show, for us to name the mother makeover
something different or do we just stick with the same name? Right?
It was it was fixed Mama's mouth, Mama's mouth, Fixed
Mama's mouth. Yeah that the audience here, a lot of
them listen to the Rick and Bubba Show and are
now listening to this show and now listening to the

(11:39):
Best of podcasts and listening to Bubba's podcast, so they
may be like, there's no need to change it. Uh,
it's it's it's fixed Mama's mouth, always has been and
always will But yeah, yeah, you know, or or are
we changing it? So opportunity whenever.

Speaker 2 (11:52):
You walk into his office, Uh, you always see the
framed pictures of of all the successful uh fixed Mama's
mouth makeovers. Smile makeovers in there. It's really life changing
for for a lot of folks.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
And it's ten upper veneers, lower bleaching cleaning X rays
about the seventeen thousand dollars value smile makeover. And so
it's it's quickly approaching. And so we just want to
know from you. We just want to know from you.
Do we do we continue the name or do y'all
want to come up with something different?

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Now I will tell you that even y'all be serious
for it now, good night. Uh, just them saw something
on the screen I wasn't ready for. But uh, there's
two sides of me. There's no hassle rick uh huh
that says the old name worked. Everybody knows what it is.
It's just a great thing and it has great stories.

(12:47):
Let's go on. But then there's the comedy side of
me that says, if we put this thing out there
for a new name, it's going to be gold. Yeah,
we got going right there. Oh yeah, yeah, fixed Mama's
pie holes. I'm gonna vote for that.

Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
And you know with this text option, you know, the
text option has changed Dudney's segment completely. Yeah, a lot
of questions quick and you can get them and keep
them moving. Uh when uh, But on this I think
it'll be the same thing. I think you'll see so
many come in on the text. There's a side of
me that says, let's go for a new name, just

(13:26):
for the fun, just for the fun, because I think
it will be fun. I don't think there's any And
then you've got some people. It will also take out
the people that I don't know that for some reason,
if anything is here that has always been, even though
it's the four of us that always did it right,
y'all just doing that well, yeah, I mean you know,
four of us were on that show and contributed big so,

(13:49):
and the contributions to that show are the same contributions
we can do to this show and then add some
news things with it. Similar. Now, if you've got four
new guys, then you can really make some complaints. Fix
your uppers. Fix that's good.

Speaker 5 (14:05):
What about men to Mama's.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Pie hole, say man Mama's mouth? And what about.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
Dudney's dental damage reduction?

Speaker 1 (14:16):
That's that's hard. Beyond the soup coolers, that's a good way.
If you can use the term soup cooler, I know
you even though it doesn't apply in this situation. No,
we're not doing that one. Uh oh, come on.

Speaker 5 (14:35):
That's gross.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
Okay, maybe the new name is a bad idea. Yeah, okay,
we just say yeah, okay, but it's uh, make over
mama's mug. That's pretty good. That's not bad. That's pretty good.

Speaker 5 (14:48):
Make Over mama's mouth. Maybe it makes more sense.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
How about how about make over mama? But then we
say that we do more than just you know, how
about shut mama's mouth.

Speaker 5 (14:59):
I'm just kidding, I'm offended.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
What about know you roll your whole? Do you remember
the time we went south We tried to do it
for Father's Day and we kept using the term grill
and the dads were disappointed they didn't get an actual grill.
They would rather they would rather keep crooked teeth than
have a nice new grills foreers. You know what, one

(15:24):
of the things that that this does help It could
be that the ideas are so bad it's easy for
us just to say we'll just stay well big box veneers. Well,
now we're getting into all that again, the big box
venego H box veneers. Yeah, but we want to stay
away from anything that that could come across as off

(15:48):
color fixed. These are people's mom let's try to stay out. Yeah,
we saw one that definitely we can't use. All right,
we'll come back. It's the bottom of the hour. That great.
Wait won't be long. We need to start getting those
letters in, I mean soon.

Speaker 4 (16:06):
This is the Rick Burgess show.

Speaker 1 (16:15):
Already enjoying visiting with you, stuff coming in via email
and text. All right, so this one, maybe this is
as good as it gets right here. Make mama's mouth
grade again? Uh so that's the the m M m
g A. Make mama's mouth grade again? That one not bad?

(16:37):
I like a playoff. Somebody helped daddy with somebody helped mama.
Mama is always selfless. Just about every story we get
has to do with a helpless mom. I mean a
selfless mom. Not helpless maybe with her teacher's helpless, but
a selfless mom. So somebody helped mama. Yeah, mama's mouth,
somebody helped mama. Make mama's mouth grade again? To me,

(16:58):
those are those are two good ones for consideration or
just leave it the same? It's always are y'all shocked
that we haven't had any votes for leave it the same? Yet?
I know? Are people just getting excited.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
To be honest with you, I think they're they're trying
to just add to what y'all are saying. Okay, fixed mom,
fix mama's mouth, make mama's make mama's mouth great again,
and somebody helped mama.

Speaker 1 (17:21):
Those are the three. How about what was your third? One?

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Was help mama?

Speaker 1 (17:26):
All right?

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Well, the first one was keep it the same, fixed
moments mama's mouth.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
Did you say, make over mama's mouth. I think that
might be one of the best.

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Make over mama's mouth.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
That's just my opinion.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
Okay, No, that's not make patch mama's mouth, but you
do it in Larry's voice. Mat you patch mama's mind,
mama's mind, that's mama's mouth. They watch you to say that.

Speaker 4 (17:47):
Bliss it.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Okay, you know were y'all ready for Larry the patch
guy is a bear hunter? Yeah? Anybody ready from Georgia.
Keep it just like that, keep it the same, keep
it well, we'll make it. We'll get it down. We'll
probably we'll vote on that today. Maybe do a quick
poe so normally carry it, normally carre it. Maybe just
we'll we'll vote on that today maybe, and we'll we'll
we'll grab a couple and say, all right, that's all right,

(18:14):
so we'll we'll continue to definitely we'll kind of continue
to overlook this, I mean and see what we got
to look it over. That's just man, all right. So
the Sweet sixteen is in all right, and I know, Speedy,
you watched some of this, Adler? Did you? Did you
watching this?

Speaker 5 (18:30):
I did? I caught the second half of the Auburn game.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Uh oh okay, we did win. How was their second
half versus the first half? Just checking in on mojo,
it was better. It was better. Okay, So that's a
good sign.

Speaker 5 (18:41):
Yes, I'm not I'm not that bad of a mojo.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
All right, So we have these are the ones that
are in Speedy. All these right here. Who's in Auburn,
Duke Houston, Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Michigan State, Texas Tech, Kentucky, Purdue, Maryland,
uh Arizona, Michigan, Brigham Young Old Miss Arkansas? All right,

(19:10):
damn Arkansas? How about that? Callum PARI Callupari. So those
so now we go to the Sweet sixteen and we
row Yep, any big happenings as far as like, was
there any any any drama?

Speaker 2 (19:27):
Oh yeah, always drama. Really don't know a lot about it.
Just saw, yeah, just saw the drama unfold. Had some
uh some big I mean some really big games that
uh I mean, look you you look at the list
that you have in front of you, Rick, I mean,
and you got, of course, seven of the fourteen SEC

(19:49):
teams that made the tournament are in the sweet sixteen.
And you know we were there was talk about the
fourteen teams. But you've got Arkansas and the Old miss
and then you got kN Lucky Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, and Auburn.
Of course Duke still running it in the ACC. And
so there's some big matchups coming. But that's that's a

(20:11):
big one there. That's seven of the fourteen SEC teams
that made the tournament are now in the sweet sixteen.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Well, if you throw fourteen in there, you've got a
pretty good chance of a lot of.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
So it looks like Man's they're playing right now, all.

Speaker 1 (20:25):
Right, So these are all Eastern time that I'm giving
you right here. Okay, you keep that in mind. Okay,
So it looks like Thursday. I don't know why they're
doing these at seven oh nine, seven thirty nine. That's weird.
All of these are eastern time. You have Alabama taking
on BYU Thursday at seven o nine eastern. Then you

(20:47):
have Florida taking on Maryland seven thirty nine eastern. You've
got Duke taking on Arizona at nine thirty nine pm Eastern,
then ten o nine pm eastern, Texas Tech taking on Arkansas.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Uh in.

Speaker 1 (21:09):
So while that's so, then you moved to Friday. Yeah,
and when we hit those eastern times, remember those two
that are really late those you know, those are out
on the West coast. So there you go.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
You know, one that just jumps out at me on
Friday is Tennessee and Kentucky. I mean those two not
only rivals but SEC teams at seven thirty nine pm eastern.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
How about if you're just jumps out at me, if
you're on that Friday night game. And then of course
they have the Florida Maryland game too, TBS and True TV. Wow, Yeah,
they're getting they're getting some great games. True to me.
Of course, they wrote a big check.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
But I mean around that same time Friday, the same
time Friday got Michigan State and Ole Miss and then
the late game after that one is Auburn and Michigan.

Speaker 1 (21:53):
Well, I'm looking at that Auburn Michigan game on Friday.
I mean it's in Atlanta, right, yes, and it's nine
thirty nine. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
That's a late one, isn't it. Wow?

Speaker 2 (22:03):
And then you know, I mean you're at the Mercy
of the Michigan State Ole Miss game, which is also
in Atlanta. So you're just waiting on that one to finish.
You could be a little early or a little later
or whatever.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
No you or not. I'll be in Delta State actually.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
But and then the ride by the way, No, it's
not no, it's just it's just not Cleveland, Mississippi.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
What's up?

Speaker 6 (22:24):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (22:24):
And then the really late Friday night game is Houston
and Purdue, and Houston had a little bit of a scare,
but they got through it. There was a lot of
good games this past weekend and some teams it's kind
of weird, but hey, wow, the tall people, good night,
the guys, Hey did you see.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
He want to see ten feet tall? Seven foot nine,
seven foot nine. And when you watch him out there
warming up, sit on a toilet in pregame, it's almost
the world is not designed for people that side. When
him got to be a hassle. You that that that
video they keep showing of him warming up out there, Yeah,

(23:04):
I think where they've lowered the gold, Yeah, to try
to try to add to the effect that little tax
goal that the kids all have in the house. Yeah,
that's what it looks like he's playing. Yeah, does he
move pretty good athletic.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
The viral picture that's going going crazy is the CB
a female CBS reporter that I think she's five two
and she's standing beside him, and y'all she doesn't even.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Get to his waist. I don't think. Yeah. Yeah, but
I mean he looked. He doesn't look like minute bowl,
you know what I mean, he doesn't have that look. No,
that was quite a look. Yeah, but he does he
move around. I mean, can you handle the ball at that?
It's a long way's ribbel you know, I'd be stealing
the ball from you a lot. But all I'm going

(23:47):
to do is going there and post up and get
my giant arm up in there dropping in.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Yeah, I mean that's u c l A had had
had a tall one too, Tennessee had to deal with
him and then they ended up getting on buying. But
and I saw where it was at the U c
l A coach. It was mad at the airline that
flew him back home.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
He was fit to be tied. But I don't know.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
He wasn't happy, but he wasn't happy with the flight
or something like that. But I think he would that
that their center was is like seven three something think
about but.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Think about a seven three guy. I want you, I
want you to think about seven three guy. And then
you have a guy Tracy Wolfson who's with Oliver Hey
says last name Oliver Rue. He says his last name.
I'm not sure was he Cajun or something. It's like
like a Cajun name. R I O U X rue.
Yeah it is here is okay, look at look at her?

(24:40):
Oh my goodness, Wow it looks like me and Ruby.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
Yeah it really does good? Yeah, yeah, yeah it does.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
It does look that way like an adult taking a
picture with like a four year old.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Yes, and that's what the picture looks like. But they're
growth and he don't really look freakish, you know most people.
I mean that's a little bit. Does he have the
freakish uh you know, giant voice, you know how giants?
I bet he does. But here's the guy says, I

(25:17):
don't gihnt look at the guy to Florida on the
text I'm six six in life didn't work for me.
I can't imagine seven nine. That's unbelievable. I mean over
a foot taller than that guy. It's just like when
Andre the Giants hear them stores how he had to
use the bats of as a commode.

Speaker 4 (25:32):
All right, he did.

Speaker 1 (25:33):
Everybody knows it. Why it's not going to pass some beers. Yeah,
the number of beers. You know, you don't sit down
with Andre the Giant for a few beers, try to
hang with He's drinking beers like we drink those little
soft drinks. I said, you don't need you don't need
to full. You don't need the full to one little one?

(25:54):
What is that? Six eight out? Something like that just
messes with you. Yeah, I mean every beer to Andre
the Giant was a pony grille it all. A tall
boy was a pone thirty four ounce. But when you
when you're recloricized drinking a tow boy, you're drinking a
tall boy. He's drinking a pone. It's a shot. Yeah.
So anyway, that's uh, that's extremely extremely tall it is.

(26:17):
How about a guy who's seven to three. I'm six
inches taller than him. Good, not, that's crazy when we
come back. George Foreman went on him. He sure did.
George Foreman went on him. Man, seventy six is a
little young for him. I know we'll be right back.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (26:44):
Let's too so much to U cover today?

Speaker 7 (26:50):
All right?

Speaker 1 (26:50):
So another one coming into not too bad on on,
fixed mama's mouth, that we do new name, stay with
the old name. Uh, here's this was not bad? Make
Mama smile again, Make Mama smile again. That's not bad.
It's precious. Uh so that that that could be a
good one.

Speaker 2 (27:10):
That one does sound nice.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
I know I've already seen that one could not people,
come on.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
Man, all right, So to make Mama smile again sounds
it does sound nice.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
Make make Mama smile again. It's a little more nice
than than fixed mom's pie hole.

Speaker 5 (27:28):
That other one, that other one right there.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
I never even heard that.

Speaker 5 (27:31):
I've never even heard that.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Good, good, great good. I never heard of the rhyming.
No way they made that up. They've heard that. That
one texture I thought that I had, you know, I
thought I was pretty pretty worldly when it comes to savviness.
You know, I didn't think that I had not been
out and faced the world. But I've never heard that
in my life.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
It's a new one to me.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
It's a new one to me, and I thought, frankly,
I thought we all heard them all. Yeah, apparently we
have not. Apparently we have not, sadly, sadly, So so anyway,
that's not good. Good not look at that. So George Foreman, Yeah,
George Foreman has died at seventy six. Says he was

(28:18):
surrounded by loved ones. But it doesn't really tell us
much more than that. I've looked around. That sounds to
me like he was everybody knew he was dying. It
wasn't something sudden. It says, it's unclear whether he was
sick before his death. But they keep putting out surrounded

(28:40):
by loved ones. Yeah, so I think that's all they
want us to know right now. And that's fine. But
seventy six, you know, George, Wow, quite a career he had,
you know. I'm trying to think, and I guess I
could text him real quick either. He had to cancel
last year, and I think he was scheduled to be

(29:02):
there again.

Speaker 7 (29:02):
This year.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
I'm pretty sure that he was scheduled to be at
the grid Iron Men's Conference. Really now, I know he
was last year, and I don't think it worked out.
Something happened, maybe he got sick, but somebody told me
they thought he was coming back and rescheduled for this year.
I don't know, but I could be wrong, but we
could pull that up real quick. But I was reading

(29:24):
the article about it and they talked about how much
money he made off that grill. Oh, oh, guy, grill?

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Was it?

Speaker 1 (29:31):
Yeah? And I remember when he made his comeback because
he was in his forties and we were like, this
is a joke, right, and he was actually jit. Yes,
ended up winning the time. Yes, over one hundred million
grills have been sold at the time of a hundred
million when yes, and after the time of his death
his net worth was three hundred million dollars. They think

(29:54):
that they were about two hundred million of that on
the grill. Don't you know the day they walked in
and hey, George, we got this grill here, we want
you to endorse it and we have a big campaign. Wow,
Well that worked.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Passed on it.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
By the way, they went to Hulkogan first.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Yeah, I've asked the case I would I would lie
and say no, I didn't know.

Speaker 5 (30:14):
They never talked to me.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
I watched the movie on George Foreman I did, and
we talked about it and they had that moment. He
goes in to try to see seeing how they're doing.
You know, what can I do to survive? And his
accountant says, your little grill things doing pretty well, pretty good.
This grill deal is taken off, and he was like really,
and he's like, oh, yeah, you're you're you're doing good.
The grill was a good idea, very good idea. So

(30:38):
but he then he got into commentating after his career fighting,
you know, because you remember that we were too little.
I'm like, I remember when he fought him and Ali.
I remember seeing it later and then how historic it was.
But you know he was I mean, his image he
was just rough, and but when he came back he
was like somebody's granddad and he was all lovable, but
yet he could still punch. Yeah, he was scheduled to

(31:00):
be at the Gridiron again this year. Yep, yeah, yeah,
So what.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
Happened Michael Morror Round ten? Here's George Foreman us Michael Moore.
George Foreman was trailing on the scorecards, running out of time.
A forty five year old Foreman catches the twenty six
year old undefeated heavyweight champ to regrain regain his crown
twenty years after losing to me.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
That and you remember what they depict this in the
movie correctly. His corner was telling him, not George's, Mike's corner.
You've got this thing one, don't go in there and
just let the time run out. And he was embarrassed
that he didn't knock him out, and he got in
there to try to knock him out, and but he
paid a terrible proces. Wow, you know, because George was tired,

(31:44):
but he sure could still punch. You know, he could
still punch, sure could and uh more would not be
satisfiable just winning and moving on. And it cost him
and uh and I remember him him doing this. I
think r to be if if it's not, it should
be considered one of the greatest feats in sports history,

(32:05):
being the heavyweight champion in your forties.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
Twenty years later you regained it back.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
Yeah, And and he wouldn't leave him alone. And there
it was, and there it was. He did you doing.
He wouldn't leave him alone. And now he is out
like a lot. He would not leave the old man alone.
One old man. He was tired, you know. And George
could hit in his heyday. But as an old man,
that old man strength, he could still hit. Yes, yes,

(32:33):
and uh and can you believe that if you are
the undefeated champs corner, you're just like.

Speaker 5 (32:41):
Buddy the jab could hit behind the jab for a
couple you know hour? What do you do in my goodness?

Speaker 1 (32:47):
Wow, George? That cost him? All right? So did you
have I'm sorry, you go ahead.

Speaker 5 (32:52):
Did you have George forman girls?

Speaker 4 (32:53):
Wasn't?

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Yeah? Oh yeah, I didn't have one?

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Still one in college. I burned something somehowpened throw it away.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, you get another one.

Speaker 2 (33:03):
It's a good way to make a grilled cheese if
you want.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
Yes, it's great for that.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
It's possible that I had one but didn't know it. Sure,
I think something similar. Mine's different. I think so.

Speaker 2 (33:12):
Out of the twelve children, how many were were boys
all named George?

Speaker 1 (33:18):
They were at least four. I think they have a
lot of George's in there.

Speaker 2 (33:22):
And he was married to over forty years.

Speaker 1 (33:24):
Yeah marriage, yep, good thing. He made all that money
off at grill.

Speaker 5 (33:30):
Yes.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
Really, let's see here. Let's say his kids five sons,
five seven daughters. Good lord, hell yeah, seven daughters. And
here they are. It's it's a lot of them. Yeah,
a lot of Georges. That's a crowd, all right. Here's
one says seven sons and five daughters. Okay, so nobody

(33:52):
knows really, yeah, I mean it could be wrong. It's
easy to get that way. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:57):
The People magazine that who knows it says five sons,
seven daughters.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
But yeah, if you look here, it says five sons,
seven daughters. And then you look at another headline and
it says meet Foreman, seven sons and five daughters. I
think that got it mixed. I think I think the
People magazine probably accurate some of these others because it's
not a very reliable source. I see here. Yeah, this
either way, he's got a bunch of kids.

Speaker 2 (34:20):
But he he was asked why he named them all George,
he said, so they would all have something in common.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
That's a really good answer, y'all.

Speaker 5 (34:28):
He boxed in Madison Square Garden against Doug Walheim in
nineteen sixty nine, and then when he won the heavyweight
championship again twenty years later. That was nineteen ninety four.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Unbelievable. I remember he on.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
He also said, if you've been hit as many times
as I have been, and he left Joe Frasier, Uhammad
Alai blah blah blah, You're gonna You're gonna forget a
lot of things. So I needed an easy name for.

Speaker 1 (34:55):
All my boys. That's good. That's now, that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
If I started to lose my memory, just call him,
don't come.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
Yeah, but they all went by their middle names. I
hope the George was on that not not what they
all went by, I hope.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
But yeah, I did burn my foot on that George
forman grill. That's why I had to get rid of it.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
That's funny. Top of the hour. We'll be right back.

Speaker 4 (35:16):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (35:24):
Much to discuss. As we go through the rest of
the day, we'll update you on some stories from the
weekend coming up. Also, we are looking to take a
vote today on a fixed Mama's mouth for this year.
Do we stay with the old name or do you

(35:46):
you want to do something new?

Speaker 3 (35:50):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (35:50):
And we got we're kund of nearing it down. It's
like to our top three or five. Uh so we
can we can vote on that and uh and then
be done with it. Uh so, because we need to
start getting letters next week. So so there we go.

Speaker 2 (36:03):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
Dudney is in. Uh so. Uh he's just he's kind
of did you say he's good either way? He just
uh no matter what he said, Hey.

Speaker 2 (36:11):
If the vote is to keep it the same, I'm
fine with it. But he said, you know, we're up
for change if that's what is if that's what the
audience wants.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
So we'll see. All right, So right now we're narrowing
it down. We'll take that vote. If you want to
keep texting those and emailing them in, you can. Uh.
But a couple of things, by the way, on George Foreman,
I mean a lot of you are saying it's true.
And this is a big men's conference that we've been
part of on and off for for years called the
grind Air Men's Conference, and Phil Waldert Ministries runs at

(36:42):
have loved the many many years in times I had
the opportunity to be there. But their lineup coming up
this weekend, I mean this summer in June was George Foreman,
and I think it was last year too. He was
unable to get there, something happened, they rescheduled him. If
I remember it right, Here's what I know for sure.
He's supposed to be there this year. People are saying, yeah,

(37:04):
we've got the posters up in our church and and everything,
but George Foreman died over the weekend. So anyway, I
don't know what will happen there. But one thing I
can tell you, he's not speaking of grineron this year,
so he so. So we'll let you guys know as
soon as they let us know, and of course they'll
let you know of course as well. A couple of
things I want to hit on Greg. This one is

(37:25):
focused on you, okay for this one comes from Joel,
and I love his commitment here online. Number one, Hey Burge,

(37:45):
Hey Burge. I desire to keep bippage to a minimum,
so I will cut to the chase. I have a
would you rather specifically for a little baby brother Greg?
If you all want to chime in, fine, But it's
really focused on him because I think he cares the
most about these two. Hypothetically speaking, would you rather save

(38:11):
the last chicken on Earth from extinction? Or the last donkey?
The one that is not picked will no longer exist. Now,
he wants to lay out why it seems easy on
the surface, I'm going chicken. Wait a minute. Of course,
letting chickens die would mean the end of one of
Greg's favorite foods. However, he said, you're not thinking this

(38:33):
thru while letting donkeys die would render his use of
the more crude moniker for donkey noel and Void says
he will no longer have an animal to reference with
that name, so their memories were erased. Also, I mean
refer back to the former, he says, apparently no, because

(38:54):
donkeys are gone. So he said, you would lose good
chicken this week, he said, you would lose access to
the word a doubles because you can no longer say
you're talking about an animal because the animal is now gone.
Now it will, you know, hurt it. I'll have to
change my response to something different, right, I guess, But
you I got, I gotta keep chicken, rack, I got.
He can't can't eliminated half my meal? Is it just

(39:18):
one chicken? Just one chicken? Donkeys? Okay? Now, he says,
one of these he must choose to continue to live. Okay,
and he said, do you want a world with no
chickens or a world with no donkeys? No donkeys is
as bad as I love a good old donk. Now
you're done. You can't represent but but but that comes
right out of your vocabulary. It's kind out.

Speaker 2 (39:38):
You can't call anybody that and go what there's always
a clown?

Speaker 1 (39:43):
No, because now that doesn't mean an animal. Now you're
you're now you're being profane, yeah, which I think is
what you stretch. But you are being crude. Yeah, so
you'd lose access to that word. I got to eat chicken, Rick,
you know that? Okay? All right, oldles they changed their
tenders and they're so much better now. If only donkeys

(40:03):
would taste like chicken, you'd have all right. So uh, Also,
he does throw this in. I know at this point, Rick,
you're done, but I do want to say it one
more thing, And this is kind of funny. I love
the show, and he says I honestly, and there's a

(40:25):
lot of look I get it, I honestly had this
is still Joel zero intentions of listening to the new show.
When all of a sudden, done, Well, I know what
he's talking about. I remember when Lionel left the Commodore's
I was. I was like, that's true. I was like,
I ain't listening to the Lionel. Then all of a sudden,
I mean, I started hearing some Lionel songs that weren't
that bad than the com door, and I started thinking

(40:48):
to myself, I'm gone, that's not a bad song. Oh well,
my friends, the tame has come. I don't like this
at all, because I was commodorees, re's the move and
have some not But do we do what to be done?
And before I know, I mean, well, so anyway, he says.

(41:09):
I'm sure you've heard this time or two, he said,
But I begin to give the the new show a try,
he said, before I know it, I can't stop listening.
He said that the same way about Jigan. Yeah, he said.
As a matter of fact, I find myself doing an
impression of Larry the Patrick guy. Oh yeah, yeah. So
so anyway, he says, that's fun to do. He says. Anyway,

(41:30):
he said, thank you for all you guys are doing
and for us oddball listeners, and of course your zeal
to defend the truth, especially the one and only truth,
is something that, look, I understand what Joel's saying. And
we brought this up, you know, thirty one years of
branding and fun and just incredible moments. It's not just

(41:51):
gonna it's not gonna be an overnight thing.

Speaker 4 (41:54):
No.

Speaker 1 (41:54):
And sometimes, and I've been there, you go not listening
to the new thing, they're all together. I'm done. It's
kind of like that old girlfriend you were done with,
you know, back before you were married, or maybe some
of you aren't you done with her no more. Suddenly
see some new pictures of her, she didn't care of herself.

(42:16):
You start looking on social media, she seems to still
be having fun. Before you know it, you kind of
miss her, and you find yourself kind of drifted back.
Before you know it, don't go to detection. Yeah you
know it, And and the next thing you know, you're thinking,
how about coffee? Okay, let's catch up.

Speaker 5 (42:34):
Hey, I don't want to see you again, but I
have your hat if you need it.

Speaker 1 (42:37):
Right, And I understand for some of you with the
new show, you know, we left our hat over your
place and you were done with us, And before you
know it, you're like, you know what, there's still a
lot of fun to be had, and yeah, of course,
and you'll have fun. Yeah, and so so thank you,
and I appreciate that this is the end of it all.
And I've said this a thousand times, a thousand times,

(42:59):
and it really is true. With all the emotion and
the things that go on, this is it. Rick and
Bubba's greatest hits, the Rick Burgers Show and Bubba's on
the Lake. They all will survive, not on how you
feel about them, but whether they're any good or not.

(43:20):
That's it. Emotion can only go for so long. Then
you have to do a good show. And we hope
to do a show that's good enough that wins your
support by merit, not because of you know, any other thing.
You know, same thing with the thirty one years of
Rick and Bubba. At the end of the day, you
can light what we do whatever, But at the end
of it all, you go back and listen to those

(43:41):
best of moments because they were good, not because of
how you I mean, how you feel about us may
buy us a shot, just like we do for our kids.
I've done this before. I can get you the interview,
but I can't get you the job. You got to
get the job. And for us, you know, we might
be able to based on what we've done, the ask
to get an interview. But at the end of the day,

(44:02):
we're either going to get the job on whether the
show's any good or not in nothing else, no matter
if you're mad, happy, up down, it's whether it's any
good or not. So we we're coming here and busting
our tails trying to do a good show bottom line.
So Greg says he picks chicken over donkeys. Yeah, but
one of the Texters had a good point. Uranus is

(44:22):
still out there though, so I do still have it,
have use of it? Yeah, though, and it's a strong
candidate be the name of our first CD together. Yeah,
we'll be back hanging there.

Speaker 4 (44:35):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, all right.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
So we talked about and you know, for some reason,
I don't know why. I don't know where in history
we would find the person who's credited with the first
ever moon.

Speaker 5 (44:53):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (44:54):
I don't I don't know how this tradition started. If
I want to be funny, if I'm upset think about it,
I will reveal my rear end to you, and I
will show you my rear end the moon, the history
of the moon. Who was the first moon? You know,
if you think about it, back before the fall of
all mankind, if you believe what we believe, and no

(45:14):
one had clothing on a moon meant nothing, that's true.
You know, we didn't have his thing. Clothing was the
clothing was the only thing that really made the moon
worth anything. Well, and I'll talk about it later. I
actually saw where the Toronto Blue Jays play their regular season.
And by the way, their opening day is coming up
this week. Uh, they're in Toronto, but this is spring training,

(45:37):
and so that I don't like Canada and baseball. So
the Blue Jays are are playing in their in their
spring league, and we have a guy who's had too
much to drink. He's got a Blue Jay's T shirt on.
All right, he's right. There isn't that funny that I
just came back from Toronto and we got a Blue
Jays story today. I think that's funny. We got something
we hear we're drinking. What's that on his head?

Speaker 5 (45:56):
We're on the fall with somebody. So he's about to
say watch this.

Speaker 1 (45:59):
Greg is telling his friends watch this. Uh, they're playing
the Phillies in spring training. Well, he puts it on
the net and regularly I want to hit you with
this headline. First. I'm not sure that we'll agree with
this one line here, okay, because remember we we we
have lightened up. We're not Francis. Okay, baseball fan caught

(46:20):
a disgusting act during the spring training game. I'll be honest.
I saw that headline and when I thought, I never
guessed moon. A moon can be funny, it can be disgusting.
I guess it's according who's moony and how far they've
bend over? Yes, I think, yeah, yeah, you know what's involved.
You know who showed up. Oh, when I see disgusting,

(46:40):
I think that it's in he's He's going to be
showing us a different area exactly.

Speaker 2 (46:44):
But at a game behind home play, this was maybe
falling point, the setting setting everything.

Speaker 1 (46:52):
It falls to me hilarious. Well that's what I'm saying,
zany outrageous. I'll take those headlines disgusting. We know who
what his plan it is.

Speaker 5 (47:01):
I don't think this is disgusting, but you can make
a moon disgusting, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (47:04):
Yeah. I said that it's all about how you bend
over and all that. Yeah, yeah, yeah, is it a
quick one? I get my pants up quickly. I leave
him down a while.

Speaker 5 (47:13):
They're down longer than you want him to.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
Be half cracked.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
For those of you that can't see, uh, there's the
center field view of the game where you see the picture,
the the you know, and then Hanks play's perfect.

Speaker 1 (47:28):
Okay, so you've got a.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
Left handed pitcher facing a left handed batter, and but
over the left handed batter's shoulder, you see a guy
who's got a cap on backwards.

Speaker 1 (47:39):
Greg, he's way too old for that.

Speaker 2 (47:40):
Yeah, and he's telling his buddies watch yes, yes, And
he's sitting I guess next to his wife and I'm
talking about front row. Couldn't be in a better SPI
that conversation and then this I can Roger and.

Speaker 3 (47:52):
Devid Clemens were there, and Cody's in lawns were there.

Speaker 1 (47:55):
But she seems to be encouraging her and his wife
were there. It's good, good, that's the ball was here.
He goes here, he goes.

Speaker 6 (48:03):
To do.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
She was trying to tell him not to do. She
tries to hold his pants coming down.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
This guy here is not happy he it and you're right,
she's trying to hold his pants.

Speaker 1 (48:16):
To this guy. Look at this guy. He gets on him.
That old man gets on him a little bit. He's like,
come on, you know what I'm saying. Though I just
came back from Toronto. I didn't think they had this
in him. I thought they'd all become so I'm super
serious about everything. I'm glad to see one cut up

(48:37):
a little bit. I to check if case was in Canada.

Speaker 2 (48:41):
By the way, the person that said, who the heck
said I bet his favorite planet is the moon.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
That's not what was said. I said, I bet you
I know who is what his favorite planet is, and
it is Uranus. Come on now, and Greg, this is
not a full This is a three quarters moon. May
I don't know a lot of crack. It's a half moon.
Just but one cheek is a little more than half
one cheeks a little more than half high. Crack. Yeah, well,

(49:05):
let me tell you his buddies at home. Oh my grit,
it's a spring training game. I don't know that we
can say discussed.

Speaker 2 (49:11):
Is he holding his cup of his drink in his mouth?

Speaker 1 (49:14):
Of course he is. You got to to get your
pants down. You gotta put your cup in your mouth.
You can't sit it down. Look right, look at here.
I am back and look, look right over my shoulder,
and the wife does attempt to keep the shorts from
coming down. And how ironic is it? The pitch is
a dirt ball. Now, I will tell you the wife's
was just thing right there is not good? No, no, yeah,

(49:36):
we're really holding on to him. Yeah, right, but your
attempt to hold his shorts down really led to something.
It looks more discussed.

Speaker 5 (49:41):
Yeah, not a good look.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
How long did he get to sit there before they
come and got I'm sure not long? Yeah, because they
have any foods of them getting him out of there?
I know.

Speaker 5 (49:52):
But there's a guy watching. There's a guy sitting on
the couch watching a Blue Can's game, laughing real hard
at his buddy.

Speaker 1 (49:58):
Can I say this one time? Can you back it up?
I want to hear what the call of the pitch
was right before it, because I think we may have
gold there. I couldn't be I could be wrong.

Speaker 3 (50:06):
Roger and Devid Clemings were there, he's been in the
lawns were there. My wife and my brother and his
wife were there. It was a good, good show. That's
the beauty of this. Okay, how many different okay.

Speaker 5 (50:19):
Yeah, a lot of looks. I can see it.

Speaker 1 (50:21):
Hey your pants, Powell, the old man. Here's what the
old man two seats down, he's furious. Here's what he's furious. Rick,
And we have these type of friends. He'd called his
friend just to go, hey, can you see me on TV?
And then his friend went, hey, hey, I dare you?
Of course you don't move us, nap. It's Greg. Yes,

(50:42):
called just to say, hey, y'all see me on camera,
and he talked him into the moon that that no doubt.
All right, when we come back, President Trump goes to
see n C Double A Wrestling. Well, led to quite
a scene in the heavyweight round.

Speaker 2 (50:58):
Yeah, it was a two to one count.

Speaker 1 (51:00):
Yeah, it was.

Speaker 6 (51:01):
It was.

Speaker 1 (51:01):
It was.

Speaker 4 (51:02):
We'll be right back. Bottom of the hour. This is
the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Over the weekend. Is that President Trump went to make
another appearance, this time at the n C Double A
Wrestling Championships. Right, we're going for national championships and wrestling.
And yeah, I know for some of you were you're like, well,
how come where's the where's the ring ropes?

Speaker 6 (51:30):
Now?

Speaker 1 (51:30):
This is this is wrestling, the sports, not the show savage.
Where's he at? Why wasn't he there? Is he alive?

Speaker 5 (51:40):
I don't think he was there.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
That would That would be kind of creepy, Wasn't.

Speaker 5 (51:43):
It crazier than Trump being there?

Speaker 1 (51:45):
Yeah? So here here is Trump walking out to us
a chance in the standing ovation in Philadelphia about but
keep in mind people are coming from all over the country,
so this place is packed out. Yeah? And is that?
Where the are they in the spectrum? Is it called
the spectrum anymore? What are the seventy six ers play?

Speaker 6 (52:05):
Now?

Speaker 7 (52:05):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (52:05):
I bet that's it?

Speaker 1 (52:10):
You ways say there he comes settling in there, he is,
he's there. And of course then we have first we're
gonna hear about this upset in two different ways. We
have the upset in the heavyweight division, which seems to
be the biggest story from the weekend. Ye. Now, I know,
if you're somebody who really follows it, maybe it's not

(52:30):
for you. But for those of us who are casual,
casual fans, this big upset in the heavyweight division seems
to be garnering the most headlines today. We speak, of course,
of Wyatt Hendrickson over Gable Stevenson. Now Gable Gable Stevenson
and hey, undefeated Gable. Y'all don't understand what this guy has.

Speaker 5 (52:52):
He's Steph Curry of throwing people on the ground.

Speaker 1 (52:54):
He really is.

Speaker 5 (52:55):
He was.

Speaker 1 (52:55):
He's unstoppable the heavyweight division until.

Speaker 2 (52:58):
He's two time n Cuba champion in twenty twenty one
two twenty twenty Olympic gold medalist in freestyle wrestling. He
returned to Minnesota for his final year of eligibility with
an undefeated eighteen to oh record for the season eighteen
l He also hadn't allowed a single takedown all year,
showcasing his dominance. He is in the two hundred and

(53:19):
eighty five pound weight class and his I could go
on with his career heavyweight?

Speaker 1 (53:24):
Did they limited it to eighty five?

Speaker 8 (53:26):
That?

Speaker 6 (53:26):
That is that?

Speaker 1 (53:27):
That's the final. That's the final. This was the final match.
Is it called the heavyweight division? Division?

Speaker 5 (53:34):
It's heavyweight. He's the heavyweight championship.

Speaker 1 (53:37):
This happens. But that's what you're dealing with.

Speaker 5 (53:39):
And this guy's name is Gable, Yes, but that is
I believe he's named after after the Gable grip. Is
Who's who's a Gable grip named after?

Speaker 1 (53:48):
I don't know, but Wyatt.

Speaker 2 (53:49):
They named him Park Gable. Yeah, while he's looking that up, Wyatt.
He wrestles for Oklahoma State. He's a transfer from Air
Force Academy. Okay, and he's he's formidable. Okay, don't get
me wrong, but he was not expected to win this
for sure.

Speaker 1 (54:06):
You telling it against eighteen to no Gable. Yeah, he's
never been taken down all season. Yeah, he won multiple championships.

Speaker 5 (54:13):
Yeah, yeah, yes, yes, And this dude is like built
like a Teddy Bear. He's actually the only college wrestler
who I know his name because he's so dominant and
has been. But yeah, Dan Gable is the Gable grip.
That was something that changed.

Speaker 1 (54:25):
But you ever thought about what if his fans were,
if his parents were such big wrestlers. They named him
Gable after the Gable grip, knowing that one day he
would one day be a champion himself.

Speaker 5 (54:33):
No, I think that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (54:35):
I was totally speculating.

Speaker 5 (54:36):
No, I think that's what happened.

Speaker 1 (54:38):
There's a new name in town. Note his name is
Wyatt Hendrickson. Yes, could could hold on just saying look
at the score right here, four to two Gable, Yes,
Stevenson Gable's winning.

Speaker 2 (54:49):
So now the the announcers, they lose their mind and
rightly so, because again no one's expecting this.

Speaker 1 (54:57):
I've noticed why Stevenson neither Steveson's Stevenson Stevenson.

Speaker 5 (55:01):
Yes, all right, So here goes Gable, Here goes Hendrick.
There there's the dive. He's going on on the single
leg and he's diving.

Speaker 1 (55:06):
Deep and arrible. Has never been taken down before.

Speaker 5 (55:09):
He's trying to make the turn, trying to make the turn,
trying to make the turn, trying to make the turn,
does it, steps over, gathers his legs and stays on top.
Give you a three point takedown to make the score
five to four?

Speaker 1 (55:19):
Yes, lose the Olympic Champions of trouble.

Speaker 4 (55:24):
Big Tiggs outside.

Speaker 1 (55:29):
God, yes, big boys tired.

Speaker 6 (55:36):
And here he is.

Speaker 1 (55:37):
He wins five to four. Hugh Jup said, crowd going crazy.
Nobody can believe it.

Speaker 5 (55:45):
That must be his dad.

Speaker 1 (55:46):
He can't believe it.

Speaker 5 (55:48):
And Abel can't believe it.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
Abel can't believe it.

Speaker 6 (55:51):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (55:51):
And and so he is actually, as you said, a
transfer from Air Force where he is second lieutenant in
the Air Force. And this is the thing I kept
seeing the pictures all weekend where he stands up and
salutes President Trump after winning the national championship over what
many thought was an impossible feat to to defeat the

(56:11):
great Gable Stevenson. And here here he is, and they
see he sees the President, and he gives the President
a salute. That was it. Well, he's second lieutenant. Therefore
he makes his way.

Speaker 2 (56:24):
He makes his way down now and Trump whispers something
to him, and they go down to UH to the
floor to to interview, and he to interview him and
ask what what the President said to him?

Speaker 1 (56:36):
Here? Stay with it.

Speaker 5 (56:37):
Okay, there's Mark Wayne Mullen, Senator. There's some guy in
a cowboy hat.

Speaker 1 (56:44):
I think, what's doing there?

Speaker 5 (56:48):
Wow?

Speaker 3 (56:49):
At the President said you?

Speaker 1 (56:50):
He said, it's very proud of me.

Speaker 5 (56:52):
That's I'm very I'm very proud of that Di Canter
to support his troops. I'll put on a show for him.

Speaker 1 (56:59):
I want to the national title.

Speaker 5 (57:01):
Wow, in the national title.

Speaker 1 (57:04):
He came to support the troops and I won him
a national title. Absolutely, Okay. In there, we're back.

Speaker 5 (57:09):
We're so back.

Speaker 2 (57:12):
I was talking to a couple of buddies of mine
that are really into this. Some you know, wrestled in
high school and won in college.

Speaker 1 (57:18):
And they were like, you.

Speaker 2 (57:19):
Don't you try to understand this upset, but you got
to you got to put it at a at a
high level to even comprehend what just happened.

Speaker 5 (57:27):
Huge.

Speaker 1 (57:28):
So here he is Mark Wayne Mullen telling Fox News
in eight e Here Adler, Uh, he's telling Fox News
that Trump was actually supposed to leave two matches earlier.

Speaker 8 (57:39):
Ut too is Wyatt Henderson is the heavyweight that you
guys were talking about that pulled maybe the largest upset
of the n c A. He's also a graduate from
the Air Force Academy and in President Trump met him
three years ago. And Uh, Wyatt walked up to him
when I was with him and said, can I get
a waiver to fly jets in? The President looked at

(58:00):
him and said, sir, I don't think they make cont
pits that big I mean. And they actually developed a friendship.
And so President Trump was supposed to leave two matches before.
Whyitet wrestled and he said he looked at me and
he says, I can't leave. I got to watch my
big guy.

Speaker 1 (58:17):
Guy. We appreciate it, and the big guy gets it done.

Speaker 2 (58:20):
He could you imagine Biden's staying at this I think
it was eleven PM and Trump was still there watching
all this.

Speaker 1 (58:28):
It's been a long times. Just BID's ever seen eleven PM. Yeah,
how about you're right, ad Er. People are now saying
on the text line, No, absolutely Gable was named after
Dan Gable, the best college wrestler of all time.

Speaker 5 (58:41):
How about that the old Gable grip changed changed the
game a little bit.

Speaker 1 (58:45):
So that's why they who also they say, was upset
and the NCAA Championship final.

Speaker 5 (58:50):
Really didn't know that about Dan Gable. There you go,
all right, so a little bit of wow, that's that's
odd that they were both upset.

Speaker 1 (58:58):
So we'll come back, Adler. I want to ask you,
and we have an update. You remember, we had the
super cross bike here in the studio. The vapors from
it stayed here long after the bike was gone. They're
still here. But there's no way we're going to have
it in here and not crank it. No way, no way.
And so we handed a sticker out to see if

(59:19):
it really would be put on the bike. We have
confirmation that it was yes. And you took both of
your kids to this.

Speaker 5 (59:26):
I did well. I was smart.

Speaker 1 (59:28):
I'd like to hear how that went. OK. Yeah, so
we'll we'll come back into life of Adler as we
start some weekend stories. Also, Sherry and I went to Toronto.
Nobody saw that coming, including me for a long time.
But uh, we we'll talk about that too. Uh. And
then we have Larry the patch Man went bear hunting?

(59:51):
Did he kill a bear? We'll see, there's a lot
still to go. We'll be right back.

Speaker 4 (59:57):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:00:05):
Does everybody remember us talking about the A M A
Supercross Championship we had. We had Austin kozad Uh here
in the room with us. He brought his bike in.
He did cool looking bike. Adler fell in love with it, yep.
Showed us all how to kind of handle it because he,
you know, he worked for Harley Davison for a while. Uh,

(01:00:26):
he's owned a Harley couple of dirt bikes. Yep. He
knows what. He knows what he's doing, and so.

Speaker 5 (01:00:33):
I really don't. But anyway, only a little bit, tiny bit.

Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Yeah. So first of all, we had some stickers. Yeah,
you know, we have the we have our our face
logo stickers the yeah, and we have sticker and Austin
said he would put the sticker on his bike. Yep,
he did. There it is those of you that are listening.
It's right there on five one, two and right there
on the front bumper, not Fender, a Fender bumper, Yeah Fenders,

(01:01:01):
Thank God for you. So uh so, let me let's talk.
Let's talk a little bit about about you taking your kids.
Your kids are four and two. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
One of the thing Johnny from brook Cave, Mississippi for
sending us that picture to Yeah, thank you, john n
A m A Supercross championship.

Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
Yes, four and two. These championships going all day long.

Speaker 5 (01:01:27):
Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:01:28):
Four. From the guard of the Big Stadium to Greg's point, parking,
little ones don't really normally move smoothly. There's a lot
of stuff to care, to care most of it it
will be taken away from you from by security, right.

Speaker 3 (01:01:45):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
And you when you have little kids with you, you
are concerned how big a bag you can bring in?

Speaker 5 (01:01:51):
Oh yeah, I was looking it up.

Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
Clear bag. Okay.

Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
My wife has like this clear purse. Almost wore it,
almost just said clear purse with me. Instead, I just
stuffed my pockets, you know, my pockets. I look like
I was I had like a life jacket and both
of my front pockets. My wife is actually out of town.

Speaker 1 (01:02:09):
Oh, yes, that's what. We can't leave that out. They know,
they don't they know mama's not here. They can smell
the figure, Yeah they can. Oh, dad's in charge of them.
We're gonna go nuts.

Speaker 5 (01:02:20):
Yes, and they did.

Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
So.

Speaker 5 (01:02:23):
My wife had a like a girls strip her her
sister is turning something.

Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
You know, it's a worry about it on your calendar,
all it says, I promise you if it's anything like mine,
Sherry not here? Your ears has Aaron not here?

Speaker 5 (01:02:40):
Aaron gone?

Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Yeah right? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:02:42):
Uh and so yeah, I had the kids to myself
all weekend and uh that time to go to the motocross.
H Well, you know, you.

Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
Stay busy, but you want to try to keep them active.

Speaker 5 (01:02:51):
You want to keep them active, and honestly, you kind
of just want to make them forget that their mom
is gone. Yeah, you know, because they're just like me.
And you know, the two year old, I had to
remind him a lot, like mommy's sleeping, No, mommy's not.
Mommy's not sleep buddy, she's on a trip.

Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
Have you ever thought about just giving him what he's
looking for? On those I have before, you know, they
kind of make him. I remember those days, think them
make him think Mom's not as far away as she
really is.

Speaker 5 (01:03:16):
Yes, yes, I thought about that, but I was afraid
he would ask later, okay, and they'd be like, oh,
remember earlier, I lied to you.

Speaker 4 (01:03:22):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
At that point, adventures with Dad here would go.

Speaker 5 (01:03:26):
So, uh, Friday was Friday night was really rough. There's
some stuff going through my house, you know, daycare stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
Keeper respiratory, stomach, what stomach?

Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
Oh yeah, yeah, So that I had a lot of problems.
Come Saturday morning. I was like, oh my goodness, like,
let's not go. I was. I was watching rude the
whole time because she was the one that was struggling.
And I was like, we don't have to go. We
can just you know, we can just watch Paw Patrol
movie or something, you know. And she said she wanted
to go. We both everybody in the house took a

(01:04:00):
three hour nap. I was like, this is the greatest
thing ever, because as Ruby's gotten older, she's napping less,
you know. Oh yes, And so we all took a
three hour nap and she woke up and she said
she wanted to go, and I was like, all right,
if you want to go to this motocross thing, let's
do it. And Ezra was down.

Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
Yeah, he was all.

Speaker 5 (01:04:16):
Supercross, super costs, super costs, you know, just gone. You
don't even know what it is, he does not at all.

Speaker 1 (01:04:24):
It had to be something good, though, And so.

Speaker 5 (01:04:27):
I packed up the Instead of a diaper bag, I
just shoved everything in my front pockets because of the
bag policy. I can't be rolling up if I'm going
to run into Rick Burgess show fans. This is going
to be one of the places.

Speaker 1 (01:04:39):
Oh yeah, you know what I mean.

Speaker 5 (01:04:40):
And so I just loaded my I had seriously two
diapers and wipes in my front right pocket and then
my left pocket was just suckers, just filled with suckers.
The sucker budget was out of control this past weekend.
But I got through it, you know.

Speaker 1 (01:04:53):
Because if you get turned down at that gate with
little kids, you just go home, Yes, you don't take
this stuff back to the car and trying.

Speaker 5 (01:05:00):
And when I'm when I've gone to these events like
downtown or whatever by myself, it's like I am like
trying to sneak and find a parking spot for free
and go in. You know, you ever find yourself parking
just downtown, which is not great. Honestly, the parking downtown
is bad. And then you parking some on some street
or some lot or whatever something, you see, this is

(01:05:21):
an empty lot here. I'll just park next to all
these other trucks. And some guy who looks kind of
like he's kind of homeless, but he has a yellow
like vest On is like, hey, you gotta pay me
twenty bucks for that. Otherwise I'm gonna call it tow truck.
And I'm like, you don't own this. You look like
you don't own anything, you know. Then you get into
a fight. And that's what this is. When I'm I've

(01:05:41):
been by myself in the years past, when I was
not as mature, I didn't have kids yet.

Speaker 1 (01:05:46):
You know, I was a different game.

Speaker 5 (01:05:48):
Yeah, more more vinegar in my blood than there's been
and all that. I'm not saying that those were good.

Speaker 1 (01:05:55):
Prove it you own it, Yeah, you prove it. This
is you don't do any of that.

Speaker 7 (01:06:00):
More.

Speaker 1 (01:06:00):
Prove you didn't steal my earbuds.

Speaker 5 (01:06:02):
Right that that that guy. I try not to do
that anymore. I try not to get into conflicts with
people for that. And so this time around, I've got
my kids, I'm just like, hey, I'm going to park,
and whoever comes up to me and ask me for money,
I don't care. I was even looking. I'm getting out
of the car. I'm like looking around, waiting for a
guy that you know, looks like he's got addiction problems

(01:06:22):
to ask me for to pay for the park there,
and it never happened. In fact, the guy walked past
me and he's like, buddy, besides my life, you got
a rough life right now. He basically basically gave me
a look kind of. You got two kids on your hips.
I'm not gonna even bother you.

Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
You can be dangerous. I thought you were super dad, though,
look at this guy's so you took your kid's hip
on hips, stepped over the empty syringers and did.

Speaker 5 (01:06:47):
What yes, and walked to the protective citium. I lucked
out with the parking. Frankly, it was probably it was
less than a mile, and so.

Speaker 1 (01:06:57):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, still a long way. It is it is,
you know stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
You don't want it to be more than a mile,
but it was less than an.

Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
Almost like dog years, little kid, though miles are different.

Speaker 5 (01:07:07):
I had to I mean, I'm carrying who wants to
ride Daddy' shoulder. Who wants to walk? Who wants to
ride daddy's shoulders? Yes, and but part of me was
also wanted to tire them out so that once we
got to our seats, they would just want to sit still.
So I actually try to encourage them to walk as
much as they could walk past top golf very hard
to explain, very hard to explain what that is, Like,
what are all those people doing? They're playing golf? No

(01:07:28):
they're not. That's not golf, you know what I mean?

Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
It was very hard to explain running at ground on
that are going supercross, super supercross. That's not that, we're
going supercross. I'm going to step out here. I believe
how many other two yeuros you think were there besides Ezra?

Speaker 5 (01:07:45):
Very many, very many. But hey, guess what we made it.
We got to our seats, I got in. I didn't
have any problems with all the suckers.

Speaker 1 (01:07:52):
Yeah it protect.

Speaker 5 (01:07:55):
Here's a quick little there's some audio tube you wanting
eating a pretzel my own.

Speaker 1 (01:08:05):
He seems to be having fun, having fun.

Speaker 5 (01:08:09):
Fireworks scared him a little bit, but that's fine.

Speaker 1 (01:08:12):
Fine. How many hours were you there?

Speaker 5 (01:08:13):
I was there for an hour? That's not bad god
a got out, got homing time for the Auburn second half. Yeah,
nobody threw up.

Speaker 4 (01:08:22):
Is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:08:30):
I was telling the guys as I was leaving on Friday.
I said, when I come back Monday and I tell
you where I'm going, you will not believe it. And
of course Greg got the information because Cherry started interacting
with the family and that pulled him in. And all
Greg could talk about was that I think I looked
sharp in my leather jacket. That was his entire country
against be glad you had it. Yeah, uh so here

(01:08:52):
here's how, because everybody wants to know, birds, what any
world are you doing in Toronto? And I asked myself that,
But here's how it happened. You just started and didn't stop.

Speaker 2 (01:09:03):
So you mean you left the show at the end
of the week. Yes, we all went away for the weekend.
You're sitting here right now, and you've been to Toronto.
I have been to Toronto. I have been to the
Great White North. I have been to Ontario.

Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
So right, do you think, well, well, cold that got
cold make Thomas will looked like nothing. Let me tell
Let me tell you somewhere we're let me tell you
where spring has not sprung, and that's in the Great
White North. Yeah, so while their winters must be so long,
you imagine when they start and how long they hang
on and they talk in fahrenheits. I never knew anything,

(01:09:36):
but anyway, so it was twenty nineteen into twenty twenty
and when Sherry and I were supposed to go to Canada.
If you remember, we were working with the pasture that
was planning churches there, and we were all geared up.
We were going to Canada for full blown going to
be there, speaking, going to be there doing over help

(01:09:57):
with the church. Whatever pandemic hits Canada. If you think
about the most leftist person you know in the way
they feel about the pandemic, and then there's Canada. Yeah,
you know, Canada just shut down. And Canada thought, we'll
all never ever ever go back. If you don't like masks,
don't go to Canada. Okay, So they just completely and

(01:10:18):
so we really had no way. And then the things
they were requiring for many years to come, We're like,
we're not doing any of that. So we just kind
of took our Canada plans and we dropped kicked them,
and so Sherry is we has discovered this little orchestra
that she loves, because you know, shery was and does

(01:10:38):
knows how to speak French and been doing work in
French speaking places, even in parts of Africa, the York speaks. Yeah,
I'm lot there. So she's much more impressive than me.
And I was like, well, good for you, and that's whatever.
So she heard this song from this group, this little
orchestra called Pink Martini. Their name comes from the movie
Breakfast at Tiffany's. Apparently, I don't what the reference is,

(01:11:01):
but they're like an orchestra and I did not know
it at the time. Where they've been together thirty years.
They started in ninety four two and they're on their
thirtieth anniversary tour and they do songs in thirty different
languages and it's everything you can possibly imagine. So there
were a couple of songs that they did in French
that Sherry thought were greater than some others in English.

(01:11:23):
And she comes to me and understand, we did not
this year because of the new show starting, there's not
going to be a lot of vacation time. It's not
going to be like the thirty one years of Rick
and Bubba. When we're going for five weeks out of
the year, you just can't start something new and expect
to do that. And she knew that, so she knew

(01:11:43):
we would not be taking a vacation till probably August. Okay,
so she said, what about a weekend. I said, sure,
we can do it. We can have a little romantic
get away. So I was coming off major conference season
in the first quarter, getting the show started, really really busy.
We've been running like crazy, and so Sherry said, about
right in here in March, this band I want to
see is actually in Toronto, and I've got his tickets

(01:12:07):
to go see him, and then we'll finally take a
Canada trip. It won't be it won't be the ministry
trip we were hoping for, but let's go kind of
kick the tires on Canada. And didn't see this, this
band that I wanted to see is a romantic getaway
for the weekend. Sounds good, so you know, you get
it on the calendar. I didn't think it would ever happen.
I didn't think it would ever get here. I thought,
surely I'll never be in Toronto, but I was. And

(01:12:29):
so we went to see this band. This band really
from Adler. From a musician standpoint, it really doesn't get
any better. You talk about some of the best musicians
in the world. I saw for your dad, Michael Adler.
I saw he's just out of the shot. He's over
where the trumpet guy is. He's actually over a pilling
right there. That that trombone guy, he's from Athens, Greece,

(01:12:52):
and he's one of the if not the best trombone player.
You know, you can always say, maybe there's one we've
never heard of, but he can play the trombone. I
thought of Michael Adler. I thought, if I wanted to
give a gift to your dad Michael Adler is to
hear this trombone guy go. He is incredible and as
a handbine, the guitar is pink Lemonade. This is pink Lemonade.

(01:13:13):
Now it's pink Martini. The singer there has been with
them most of the time. They have a rotating singer.
But if you go see them, apparently you want to
hear China Forbes sing. So she was with them and
that's the one you want to hear. And then the
band leaders over there on the piano in the picture here,
that's Thomas Lauderdale. Now Here's the only thing I had
to stomach. And you deal with this in entertainment really

(01:13:36):
in general, but when you're dealing with the band that
formed in Portland, Oregon, oh, raging leftists. Sure, the part
that I was just oh boy, of course it nearly
got me in in a little bit to the Canadian
who was next to me when they announced that the
trumpet player that was there had been with the band
for I guess five years. Do you know why the

(01:13:56):
original trumpet player was removed? Covid He wouldn't take the fact.
Scene Uh, And of course they said that as if
that was some big moment. Of course I said, well
I didn't take it either. And of course at that
point I thought we'd be removed from Canada. Yeah, I
didn't think that through. But anyway, so but if you're
gonna go to hear entertainers, you're you're pretty much gonna

(01:14:17):
deal with leftists. But they didn't do it to the
degree other than that one statement that I'm like, come on, man,
sure date weekend Sherry Sherry Sherry, and I just uh
doing what you know you heard the other day when
we have people talk in saying, hey, any marriage advice,
and one thing we always say, don't ever stop dating.

(01:14:38):
Uh and uh, you know and share. Sharry and I
do a lot of stuff together, which is great. That
is super super serious as well. Uh, but sometimes you
just need time to go be husband and wife, date
each other again and have a great little getaway. This
was something she really wanted to do. And uh how
about this? Uh that that was It was a fun,
fun weekend together pretty quick. So we saw the Pink

(01:14:59):
Martin an orchestra, but they do have a singer. Some
of you are saying, how can you play music in
different languages? Know that the singing was in different languages
because most of the all the songs, not all of them,
do have singing parts. And that's why you had this
China Forbes, this award winning singer that sings with the
orchestra most of the time too. So the second day
we're gonna walk to city. Gotta get out, let's see Toronto.

(01:15:21):
Now we made the decision. Anytime Sherry and I are
on the road, we have this is something new to
our marriage. Sherry drives. I no longer drive because she's
she's the worst backseat driver in the world. And she
also is very savvy. She's much more savvy as a
traveler than I am. I mean, you know, Sherry's been

(01:15:41):
to Africa, she's been to Israel, She's been to France
on her own. I mean, she knows how to deal
with trains, planes and automobiles better than I do. I'm
very handler, you know dependent. You know, I was telling her,
let's let's have a driver. You know that when we
go to the stuff, because we're not going to that
many things, don't. We get a ride from the airport

(01:16:01):
to the hotel. And then the show we're going to
is across the street. We're not driving there because she
got the perfect hotel, perfect seats, perfect location. Where we're
going to eat is across the street. And then if
if we want to do any kind of go anything
where we just have to take a uber or something, well,
she said that she thought it would be better for
us to have a rental. So we did, and she

(01:16:22):
drove us and really Toronto. I know there's parts of
it because we found out later other people did struggle.
To me, it didn't really feel it didn't feel Atlanta,
It certainly didn't feel New York. City. I would never
drive in New York City ever, even though it's a
really big city. We seemed to get from the airport
to the hotel and even around to the things we
went to see. I think a lot of that had

(01:16:42):
to do with we went while it was still winter.
I bet if you go there during the summer, the
crowds are so big and whatever, it's probably a lot harder.
But anyway, so we started going around the city. This
is a share you with a good one, because it
was thirty two degrees and wind blowing like there was
no tomorrow. She took a picture of this heart in
the street. You said, that's the coldest heart I've ever
seen in my life, to which I said, if you

(01:17:03):
want to keep your beer cold, put it next to
that heart. An old country song. So we saw where
the Blue Jays play, saw their stadium, Uh there you go?
So saw where saw where the Raptors play. Uh so,
Also I got a picture. I thought you'd like this one.
Did you know that Toronto apparently has some sort of
hockey Hall of Fame? Cool cool building. There's there's the

(01:17:26):
Hockey Hall of Fame. A little bit yeah yeah, so
so so we did all that we walked around. I
found Toronto to be a beautiful city. Uh now you
know you you just like any city, you gotta be
careful what street you take, you can get a whole
new experience. But seemed to seem to be put together
pretty well, you know. Service seemed to be good. The

(01:17:46):
people we dealt with were relatively friendly. That didn't have
any real issues with me. By as long as I
kept you know, fifty first state when I ended that joke,
Yeah that that was great. Don't talk about anything you know,
on the on the conserve this side. I didn't go
down any of those roads. And then we went to
the Sea and Tower to have dinner. Now this is
like a rotating restaurant I would like to have in Atlanta.

(01:18:08):
At one time, the Sea and Tower was the tallest
structure in the world. It no longer is. It's still
in the top ten, how about it, Greg? Eighteen hundred
and fifteen feet. Hello. So, and there's a restaurant there
and it's it is a touristy thing, but we we
had to do it. It was big on hides, han't you?

Speaker 7 (01:18:26):
Was she?

Speaker 1 (01:18:27):
We worried about her in the elevator when we're standing
to get in the elevator. They said, you will be
looking out as the elevator goes up. The elevator takes
about three minutes to get to the top. Uh, And
so Sherry got in the back. I tell you where,
you wouldn't do well because they're trying to get so
many people up there. If you're claustrophobic, you're not going
to do well a little time because they cram you

(01:18:48):
all in that elevator. And you know how you just
have to speaking. I don't know if you could do that.
It isn't the conversation. But what a beautiful you anybody
beautiful view the food? The food was okay about you
food in Canada. Uh, that's one of these restaurants. They
have a little bit of everything. I found the I

(01:19:09):
found the Hotel Pigeons. I don't know as far as food.
I found the hotel restaurant to be better food than this.
Even though Hamburger, even though this was fine, this was
nothing I got. What did I eat there? I ate
a baked chicken, no roasted chicken, and they had some
mashed potatoes and they had something that was it was
let on top of I don't know what it was,
but it was it was okay.

Speaker 5 (01:19:29):
Yeah, well that restaurant's about the view, not the food.

Speaker 1 (01:19:31):
Yeah, you're there for the view. Yeah, but the view
is phenomenal. And Wild Lake, Ontario is big. That's a
big one. Uh, that's that's your big boy. And then
of course we went to we had to go to
Castle Loma. Castle Loma. Castle Castle Loma has been in
so many movies, by the way, a matter of fact,
in one of the Batman movies that is actually Wayne

(01:19:52):
manor I think I remember that. Yeah, And so a
lot of movies in there. That's also where I met Drake.
That's why I say, at y'all the picture and artist Drake.
I wouldn't shure which one's wack, right, but it was
actually yeah, yeah, they have some wax dummies in there
for various people that have done like he did a
video there. You have a you have a bunch of

(01:20:14):
different actors and actresses that have done movies. There are
lots of movies have been shocked. You call them dummies, Well,
they're wax dummies, right, and that what they call them. Then, Uh,
was there a Kendrick Was there a Kendrick lamar Win
in there? Beside him, because you know they don't like
each other. No, I didn't. I was afraid to engage
in that and the hip hop Awars because I didn't
know if it would go. But it was a lot
of stairs in Castle Looma. Uh, some of you Castloma's out.

(01:20:40):
A lot of winding stairs. If you want to get
up to the tower, which we had to get to
the top of the tower for the view of the
city chair. Let me tell you something. I was borderline.
I mean, if I wouldn't do if I was doing
a little bit bad, if I hadn't been doing a
little bit better three hundred. No, I never saw the tower.
I would never make a picture. I've never seen that tower,
no way. And this is like the conservatory you'd like

(01:21:02):
to have on that what's that murder board game we
all play clue? This is the conservatory that was there
inside it was King Edward had that for a while,
some guy from Canada something. I don't remember the whole
the whole back. Yeah, but it's at one time, you know,
you know, it was a little bit of free roaming,
which is like free roaming, I know.

Speaker 2 (01:21:23):
But now, but Terry, I mean, Sherry didn't follow rules.
So how was she with gate like blocked off areas
she go through pasted any.

Speaker 1 (01:21:31):
Rope off areas. I don't think my wife ever noticed
a roped off area. I was. We weren't supposed to
go in there where they would dine, Cherry did. Cher
was ready for advertisers in there in King Edwards room. Uh,
we'll be right back.

Speaker 4 (01:21:47):
Hey you there. This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:21:56):
So finishing up the weekend in Canada unless things come
up on phone segments or hay birds or whatever, or
watching things on the text line. So one of the things, Greg,
I did stay in my leather jacket the entire time,
even though you kept remarking you times Sherry with send
you a picture, Rick, Thanks you sharp. Real cold there.
The problem is that I don't mind it did more
than that, Jack, don't. I don't mind cold. What I

(01:22:19):
don't like is wind. That's freezing cold. That's a game.
And you think Lake Ontario doesn't crank up a northern
wind that blows down those streets. Because we were trying
to walk most of it, because you know, and when
you're a big city, walking is a better way to go.
But I mean, it was frigid. Is that frigid? Is

(01:22:41):
that a real picture? No, that is a green screen.
They take that as you're going in, and then they
bring it to you and try to get you to
buy it at the table, which of course we did.
I knew I was in when Sherry thought she you know,
because most of the time you don't have to buy
a picture somebody else takes because your wife didn't think
she was good in it. That's true. But once Sherry
approved it, I thought, well, we got trouble. Now, remember
trouble things that six Flags used to give you. You

(01:23:02):
looked in they took your picture when you got there,
and then when you leave. Yes, it's a little plastic
now and you looked in it. Yeah, and you're in it. Yeah.
I tell you how I finally got a good picture
that Sherry was finally okay with and without all this
is let me tell you something. Canada is overrun with Asians.
I mean, I mean every everywhere you look, the Asians

(01:23:22):
have taken over them. Take a picture and I will
tell you this. I interacted with a lot of people.
I don't know that I ever interacted with some native
Native Canadian. It's like the whole world lives there in Toronto.
You know, they got a huge housing problem too because
of all their leftist waves. They got more people than
they want anybody build anything. And then the Chinese have

(01:23:43):
come in bought up a bunch. But hey, let's listen you.
I mean, I'm talking about everywhere I looked at it.
I felt like I was I was in Asia, I
mean now, but here was the good thing. We got
down to the end and we were trying to take
some pictures out there at the Toronto Sign and that
kind of stuff. As we're getting ready to go, Okay,
problem there, Well, I said, there's Asians everywhere. Let them

(01:24:06):
take the picture. Yeah, I said, they're great at this,
this is their thing. Give me the interaction on how
you just I did. So I went over and I said,
did you think yelling louder? Non of them understand? You
know some reason I do. Cherry told me. Sherry told
me not to not to bother the Asian people. Guess
what happened. Asian dad saw me with his Asian family

(01:24:26):
and he saw me and he's like, you want me
to take a picture off of you? And I was like,
that's kind of how I went. Can I not do
that anymore. I don't think I can do that. Can
He's an Asian Gary, He's a little bit hey, but
he he said, and let me tell you something. How
many shots you think you too? He didn't take just one.
He's doing vertical, he's doing horizontal. He's asking us to move.

Speaker 5 (01:24:47):
He had us move.

Speaker 1 (01:24:48):
He didn't think we were in a good spot. Now
kiss huh, and you you'll kill sug tear that shug
up leather man and so oh, I like that leather
jacket and so anyway, so you know, and Sherry doesn't
like PDA And I told her, I said, well, you
can see here around us, you're I said, let me

(01:25:08):
tell you the couples there. I'm talking about older people too.
There shouldn't be kissing like that while we're trying to
ea breakfast at a place. On him, I said, we guys,
people make it up right making out right behind you.
And I said, and they're about our age that a
little bit of egg on, I said, I'm coming over.
I said, I'm about to come over the table for
a little sugar. She said, do not. Well, that's what
I said, talking about us opening our mouths. Let's press,
let's press our lips pretty good. That's what I was

(01:25:29):
going to ask you.

Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
You you can't go anywhere and act right now, you're
gonna walk loud, You're gonna talk.

Speaker 1 (01:25:34):
I mean, there was no in there.

Speaker 2 (01:25:36):
There was there any uncomfortable moments where you were in
a handbill or sherry culling.

Speaker 1 (01:25:42):
You was was throughout the weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:25:44):
The fifty first state that did not go was that
out loud to everybody or just kind of the guy
besides you heard you now?

Speaker 1 (01:25:51):
That was at the did you? And I said down
at the concert had a Canadian Well he was Asian. Uh,
and he said he lived and had been living in
Canada for over twenty years. Okay, Uh, he was Japanese.
So you just told that to him. He was sitting
next to me, and now he he honestly didn't. I
don't know why. I was by himself, and he would
take his mask. He would take his mask on and
off at weird times. Masks mask. Yeah, But it was

(01:26:15):
actually the couple in front of me who had the
kind of loud I'm really into the band, older woman
that probably sees him ten fifteen times a year, and
it was they were in Toronto. So I assumed the
way she was acting, she wasn't from Canada. I thought
she may go see the band different places. Miscalculated that

(01:26:35):
one because she heard me say that we were here
checking out our fifty first state and it did not
go well. It was a turnaround and it was like
I had broken wind and uh. And then then I
got from from sequin I got the that that's not
going over yeah, and uh, move on from and then
of course I made one loud vaccine comment. But so

(01:26:56):
that was there was a mask sitting right beside you.
You didn't didn't calculate that real well, so I just
couldn't let somebody fire the trumpet player over the vaccine
and let that oh my goodness, to take the vaccine.
I guess I get kicked out of the band, so
they you know, and so the so anyway, it was,
so it was, it was, It was fine. I mean

(01:27:18):
it was. And then Niagara Falls. A lot of folks
want to know. You know, we were supposed to go
to Niagara Falls years ago and one of our kids
got in a state championship game and we had to
cancel out there. Now this is a shot of Niagara
Falls out of the airplane what. Yeah, So this is
because we did not go. Somebody told me it takes
like two hours to get there because of the traffic

(01:27:38):
and everything. It's only about a forty five minute ride
from where we were, but we didn't. We didn't have
long enough. And in the Canadian side, I hate to
say this about Niagara Falls, but it appears to be
superior than the experience from the American side.

Speaker 5 (01:27:53):
Yeah, the view from Canada is a little bit better.

Speaker 1 (01:27:55):
Yeah, it is. And see that that that is beautiful
right that's the view out there that is here. This
is the airplane. This is the airplane coming around and
getting a shot of it.

Speaker 5 (01:28:05):
About that and that Gold Island right there right there?

Speaker 1 (01:28:09):
Have you been there?

Speaker 6 (01:28:09):
And I have?

Speaker 5 (01:28:10):
And it's amazing. We did the the lady made it
in the mist or whatever it is. I did that
with Ruby when she was like less than a year
old and about we were. It was the very first
day that it reopened after COVID.

Speaker 1 (01:28:22):
Did you go to the Canada side or the American zone?

Speaker 5 (01:28:24):
We were on the USA side.

Speaker 1 (01:28:26):
It's not as cool as it.

Speaker 5 (01:28:27):
You don't get to see this whole right there. I mean,
you can go all the way out here and look okay,
but the maid of the Mist drives you all the
way to here.

Speaker 1 (01:28:36):
So we did get to.

Speaker 5 (01:28:38):
But if you're just from America, like, we hung around
here a lot and even this side falls what is that?
Some some other falls off. I don't know what it's called,
but I mean, even that is the biggest waterfall I've
ever seen. It's not even bigger than.

Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
That's amazing right there?

Speaker 5 (01:28:50):
Yeah, insane.

Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
Yeah, So that was a cool shot. And so that
was an easy answer. When we were we were leaving,
we got the hey, you want to you want to
flower Niagara Fall, So I'm like, yeah, yeah, oh that
was on your way out. That's so cool. So also
people ask me if Sherry's afraid of heights, how does
she handle things like the tower and even flying. It's

(01:29:12):
kind of interesting. Sherry is only afraid of heights if
there's a cliff, okay, if she's okay, if she's secure
inside something. What she was afraid of in the elevator
was it would be that window thing where it feels
like you're on the edge and you're kind of you
But it really wasn't. You know. She doesn't like anything
that you're approaching a ledge cliff anything like that. She

(01:29:34):
doesn't like that. Like if she's on a road, we're
on a winding road and there's no guardrails and it's
a big fall off to the side, she cannot handle.
I mean, there's been places where we had to learn
that lesson. We're like, well, that's part of the trip
we just can't do. She can't handle a winding road.
Winding road where where if you no shoulder and you
go off and you're going off a cliff, none of that.

Speaker 2 (01:29:55):
So she just got the front of the elevator by
the door.

Speaker 1 (01:29:57):
Yeah, okay, Yeah, she just stayed away from anything that
included anything that seemed cliff like and airplanes don't bother.
She's she's fine there because she feels secure and she's
not on the cliff. Of course, you know, I'm sure
I could bring up scenarios that could make her upset,
so I just don't. Yeah. Yeah, so you breath. No,
there's there's there's no win there, all right, So we'll

(01:30:21):
uh we'll be back all right from the texture who's
asking the question about an author last week? Uh, Mark Cahill.
Mark Cahill is the book that I mentioned, just so
you know, right, well come back. We have a vox
verdict today, a vox verdict today. So great weekend, continuing
to date, the most beautiful woman in the world. We

(01:30:42):
had a blast from the political world AOC a little
bit of a we we love we love these when
someone has a little misspeak. Uh, AOC has a misspeak
talking about the Democratic Party that the people really need.

Speaker 9 (01:31:05):
All right here here she is, we need a demomeratic
party that parts fights harder for us.

Speaker 1 (01:31:11):
Yeah, I already had that. You've already got one. I
think that farts harder for you when she catches her here?

Speaker 9 (01:31:20):
Do need a demomeratic party that parts fights hard?

Speaker 1 (01:31:27):
Is anybody in there? Uh? It's some sort of basketball gym,
like a high school gym or something. I don't know.
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (01:31:33):
This is your Okay, we need a demomeratic party that
parts fights harder for us.

Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
That is solid gold.

Speaker 6 (01:31:43):
Right.

Speaker 5 (01:31:43):
The crowd even cheered.

Speaker 1 (01:31:44):
They're like, yeah, I fted, Uh, So there we go.
There was a there was a.

Speaker 5 (01:31:51):
Big rally in Denver. I guess that that was part
of the inside part. This is ok this is the
outside part. And Bernie Sanders and AOC had their uh,
their rally in Denver. Here you can see Bernie Sanders
is claiming thirty four thousand people out in Denver. The
message is clear all this. There's a guy who has
been running the GPS data of all the rallies, of

(01:32:13):
all these political rallies, the Kamala Harris, the Donald Trump rallies,
and he says, here we go again. Looking at the
GPS data. There were twenty thousand devices. There, still a
large crowd, but not even close to the thirty thousand
quoted by the Denver newspapers, nor the thirty four thousand
quoted by Bernie Sanders and AOC. Also, eighty four percent
of those devices had attended nine or more Kamala Harris rallies.

Speaker 4 (01:32:35):
In the past.

Speaker 1 (01:32:36):
That's how it's important. You know, they're playing to a
small group, but they're not resonating at all with Americans
on a massive scale, which is why they lost the
election as badly as they did. Yes, and they they're
preaching to the choir. They're inside their own little algorithm,
and they think something's happened because everybody inside their agrees

(01:32:56):
with what they're saying.

Speaker 5 (01:32:57):
Yeah, and they claim that it's organic, this organ in
it grassroots movement, but these are these people are being paid,
they're being bussed in. We saw those huge lines of
buses at all the Kamala Harris rallies. But you see
it's this the Disruption Project Act Blue. A lot of
these organizations received backing from us AID. Yeah, I wonder
why they're some mad.

Speaker 1 (01:33:18):
We'll be back bottom of the hour. The headlines today,
keeping you updated. Elon Musk has been declared now by
the left since he made the had the audacity. I
was laughing when I was in Toronto this past weekend.
They actually had parking garages called green parking garages. You

(01:33:41):
go down there, and you know one of the reason
why they call it green, don't you electric cars? A
lot of places for electric cars to charge and safe
planet as yeah, and uh you know. And of course
now you know Elon Musk is not getting in line,
so his electric cars must be hated, and domestic terrorism
is now suddenly okay again, is that the weirdest thing ever? Well,

(01:34:01):
here we go, and also Elon Musk is announcing he's
launching a lawsuit after what happens here with Representative Jamal Bowman.
So here here's the commentary.

Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
You throw something in at the end there that that
Elon doesn't like that's not true.

Speaker 7 (01:34:17):
And this shows again the American people do not trust
Elon Musk, and Elon Musk is incompetent in his position.
And how do we know because they fired tens of
thousands of people's challenging court. The court said the people
have to go back, and now the people are coming back.
He's incompetent, he's a thief, he's a Nazi, and people

(01:34:39):
don't trust him.

Speaker 1 (01:34:40):
Period. Let me just where do they keep getting this Nazi?

Speaker 7 (01:34:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (01:34:44):
They do not understand the Nazi, the Nazi movement at all.
But this is where Musk says, you can have an
opinion on him, what you can about him and what
he's doing for the administration, but he believes he has
ground for a lawsuit if you're going to call him
a knot see on live television. Now it'll be a
tough one with him being a public figure, because they're

(01:35:05):
going to have to prove that he was damaged by
being called a Nazi and that Jamal Bowman intended to
damage him by calling him a Nazi. But we will see.
But he's definitely not going to let it go and
I think that's good. He needs to defend himself on
some of these things. And it's just like, you know,
like all of us, I don't really mind people having
opinions on things because they have a right to that.
What it does bother you when someone is out with

(01:35:27):
a false narrative or saying something about you that's not true.
And Elon must being a Nazi is just absurd. And
you're leaving out that these courts that keep telling Elon
he can't do what he's doing are courts that Chuck
Schumer just told us last week on the show, where
they put activist judges in the way of the administration.

(01:35:48):
So just because a ruling is happening with one of
these judges does not mean that it was anything other
than some political hack who is trying to throw obstacles
in way of the administration.

Speaker 5 (01:35:59):
Yeah, that's doesn't prove your point. It's so funny they
keep trying to paint him as stupid, inept, not qualified,
and he's you know, landing rockets on chopsticks and rescuing
astronauts and you know, I mean, he's he's putting the
satellites all across the world so that people can have
open and free communication. He helped during the fly, the hurricane,

(01:36:23):
he helped during the fires. He's not an evil villain.
And what everybody's sick of disliking Trump and the Democrats
have seen that they can't really vilify Trump to any
more than they possibly have, so they've got their new
boogeyman and Elon Musk. And that's why you're seeing all
this insanity from the left.

Speaker 1 (01:36:41):
But remember all the things that you have documented that
are factual were once applauded before they found out he
disagreed with them politically. And and and I wouldn't if
I was Jamal Bowman, the things he's uncovering, I would
leave out calling anyone a thief if I was a politician.
What's happening to the taxpayers? I just dropped thief.

Speaker 5 (01:37:01):
Absolutely.

Speaker 2 (01:37:02):
And someone said, as far as his lawsuit goes, look
at the decline of Tesla Stott. He's got him something there.
He's absolutely just the way the media is constantly trying
to push this narrative that that Adlish talking.

Speaker 1 (01:37:14):
Yes, Rosie O'Donnell will suggest that there was massive fraud
that allowed Trump to win in twenty twenty four. Wow, Okay, fraud. Yeah,
my goodness, a Democrat talking about fraudulent elections? How dare
when we put Biden in there? Out of nowhere? All right?

Speaker 5 (01:37:32):
Here?

Speaker 1 (01:37:33):
She is is? She's still in Ireland.

Speaker 5 (01:37:34):
She's on an Irelish, Irish tuck show.

Speaker 1 (01:37:37):
I tell you about the Trump's.

Speaker 5 (01:37:40):
My name is Jimmy o'fellon.

Speaker 2 (01:37:42):
To do that?

Speaker 6 (01:37:43):
I question why the first time in American history a
president has won every swing state and is also best
friends and his largest donor was a man who owns
and runs the Internet. So I would hope that that
would be investigated and that we would see whether or
not it was an anomaly or something else that happened

(01:38:03):
on election night in America When Kamala Harris was filling
up stadiums with people, Donald Trump was not able to
do that.

Speaker 5 (01:38:12):
What sople curious to me?

Speaker 1 (01:38:16):
They really are crazy? What? What?

Speaker 6 (01:38:19):
What they?

Speaker 5 (01:38:24):
He doesn't you know? He owns the internet.

Speaker 1 (01:38:27):
He owns the Internet.

Speaker 5 (01:38:28):
We have we have one place.

Speaker 1 (01:38:30):
We have X. That's it.

Speaker 5 (01:38:32):
Everything else when you look at Facebook, Instagram, uh, every
every talk, tik talk, every stream media outlet, every single
mainstream media outlet with it.

Speaker 1 (01:38:42):
The only one that we have is X.

Speaker 5 (01:38:44):
What is she talking about owns the internet.

Speaker 1 (01:38:46):
Have you Have you ever seen a small child that
has five cookies and they're mad because they're sibling or
a friend got one cookie and they're like, but I
want all the cookies and they're pitching a fit. That's
what they sound like. They can't accept that Kamala Harris
was a horrible candidate, and they can accept that Biden's
administration was horridly received by most of America. And because

(01:39:11):
they live in there. As I said, these algorithms where
you get in and no one ever causes you to
critically think about your views, no one ever argues against you,
no one ever forces you to walk out of narrative.
In that world, you may get delusional thinking I wonder
how we lost. But if you're out here in the
real world where people who the people who decide votes

(01:39:35):
on elections that sometimes vote Democrats, sometimes vote Republican, they
went toward Trump because they ain't like the state of
their country. And what you tried to force down everybody's
throat was okay when it was just an emotional response,
but then it got ugly when it started affecting people's
lives negatively, and you got voted out and you know what,

(01:39:56):
if the Trump administration does as bad a job as
as you the Democrats did, they'll they'll get voted out too,
and everybody go back Democrat. Uh. But it's it's just
not you're you're living in a fake world, Rosie. You're
over in Ireland and the things you're saying about the
election are absurd. And when someone even remotely suggested that

(01:40:17):
when Trump lost his second term, which y'all would have
been better off by the way, if he had won,
that it would already be over for you and he
wouldn't have the power that he has now. But you
wouldn't allow anyone to even remotely suggest about voting machines
and pandemic and things that were allowed that normally weren't allowed.
I mean, the way y'all acted about that, but now
you get to do it.

Speaker 2 (01:40:37):
Yeah, I mean, come on, I wish the Irish hosts
would have said, I knowed you'll walk that out.

Speaker 1 (01:40:41):
