Maul Fall's ready good, the gang is here, speedy, Greg
Adler all here, ready to go. And it is so
good to be back in the old one seat. And
as many have said, and I will agree wholeheartedly, I
am just so grateful for the incredible job that my
(02:18):
three brothers have done. While I needed to be away,
the show from the times I was able to listen
sounded fantastic. All of you have given incredible feedback. So
you know, we're a team of four, but you know,
from time to time one of us will be missing
if we have things we need to deal with or
you know, we have things we can't control, like being
(02:40):
physically ill or something like that. Yeah, and it's good
to know that the show continues to move forward. There's
a lot depending on that now now more than ever,
people's attention. If you don't keep it, they got all
kinds of different places to go, and sometimes you struggle
to get them back. Don't give them a reason to leave.
(03:01):
You know, advertisers are all more volatile than ever, with
many many options too. U So people also, you know
which is wonderful what we do for a living A
lot of people. You know, Hey, I need a show. Yeah,
and we're grateful for that. And you guys did fantastic
and I'm grateful for.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Well on behalf of the staff. Let us just say,
welcome back, brother, welcome back. Yeah, thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
I hope you didn't listen too much.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Yeah yeah, and we'll take you if you feel sorry
for us. Even the good time game bless her heart,
let's listen. Cute, that's cute.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
Cute said a little.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Seeing a little buddy that that like plays in a
game or something like you did. Man, I'm almost hitted.
Let's go the concession stand.
Speaker 7 (03:46):
What do you want?
Speaker 8 (03:48):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (03:48):
You nearly made? It was riding in the car. I
turned it on and I thought to myself, was good
for them? It was great. I tell you what.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
I tell you what was weird to become a listener
because I can't it's been a long time since I've.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Been oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 9 (04:02):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
And you know I usually go back and catch the
podcast archive, but usually not much of it. I use
it because just time I go back, just to see
how did it sound? You know, you always want to
keep banging on your craft. You know, how's the imaging
sound is everybody? You know which I think the camaraderie
and the smoothness of the show, and you know, hey,
(04:24):
was that as funny as I thought it was sitting
here the second time. And and one of the things
that I that I found myself guys, you're not gonna
like this because I even I'm a little bit nervous
to say it, because you know, if you if you
give the folks out there and then it's they're gonna
take them.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
Off, okay.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
And I have to be so careful what I want
to say next. I have to be so careful. I
understand our listeners more. I found myself laughing at things
that if as a host, I'm like, hey, now.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
Yeah, that's enough of that.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
But I found myself out there being an anonymous listener going,
I'm telling you, I'm digging this great. You know, I
don't want to encourage. I don't want to encourage. It's
different when you're a listener.
Speaker 2 (05:05):
All right, I got it. I can perspective. I can
tell one thing, because you haven't brought up when Gary
joined this last Friday, I didn't. I didn't hear anything.
I can tell I can tell. I just leave it
that way. I didn't hear. It's like when you get
home and you know you've talked about something at the
house and your wife didn't bring it up, like she
obviously wasn't listening. Yes, you know, Gary joining us was gold.
(05:27):
We loved every second of it, but it was on
the edge of out of control. If he would have
brought his bicycle, it would have been perfect in the
parking lot. And I appreciate Heary coming in. You know, hey, man,
I ain't.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
I can't just run up there every time y'all need me,
you know, I mean, I got things to do, and
so I appreciate him coming back so soon to help out.
But I'm just gonna leave it at that, because what
y'all are telling me the last time he was on
I had a real issue with his little joke he
told and so were we back in that game again.
(05:58):
It's uh, because Gary, he can go to well, no,
he didn't go that. Did he cross the line?
Speaker 2 (06:04):
I don't think maybe you should sit this one out,
But okay, let's let's not. Let's not. He's pretty get
your opinion, don't know. Maybe that's that's a great point.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, maybe I'm not a great speedy was just being silent,
so it must have been adlers, Like right now, I'm
not in this. I think I'll stay out.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
I don't even think we did a show on Friday.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Right, you know it's bad. When my wife sent a text,
uh and said, well, you've lost complete control. So you
know how that feels. Yeah, I do. I do. Sitting
over there, you get nervous and all that, and you're
but it was so much fun.
Speaker 1 (06:34):
She's she wayed into she said it was really funny.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Yeah, yeah, okay, well with you, I haven't I haven't
talked to one person that didn't think it was great.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
I didn't get any complaint emails or anything, because sometimes people,
even when I'm away, they'll tattle. Yeah, and it doesn't matter,
it doesn't matter what I'm doing or whatever. They'll still say, well,
I know at some point burgess of this and I'm taddling.
And so I didn't get a lot of tattletales. Yeah.
Like I said, I got all all positive and I
felt positive about it, and and you know what if
(07:06):
if it made everybody laugh and he didn't completely compromise
everything that we want to stand on, you know that
it's gonna matter. I don't think that I'm all for it.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
I mean, because what do we say when we started
this year, Let's let's let's go funny first, right, and uh,
that happened. Not that we want, you know, take on.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
Serious topics when we need to, but but funny first.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
To me, his best story was, and it was completely clean,
was him buying when that bracelet that she always wanted.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
That was really nice.
Speaker 2 (07:35):
That was good. That was good. Rick him his truck
running away from him, His truck running away.
Speaker 4 (07:43):
He had to chase it down.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
Almost didn't get here. Yeah, truck got away.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
From Hey, I mean my truck got away from left it.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
He had to run it down. I wish I could
have seen that. Him telling us about a childhood memory
on riding the bike. That was good. Yeah, it's his
little buddy. Yeah, my god, I forgot deaf and mute.
Uh best friend that was his neighbor. Enough and yeah,
(08:13):
and then the reason he told us he had he
had to leave. He couldn't stay any longer. He just
got it left. Well, he told us what he had
to go do.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Is that you wish you had not heard?
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yeah, Okay, what you're saying so far sounds like it
was just solid gold.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
It a was it. I was it. I was talked
to Gary yesterday. He's something else. He's always in what
some ditch digging you know, I'm over here digging love.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
Let me tell you what's hilarious right here, this is
our audience. Gary was like the Catholic choir boy that
snuck a few SIPs of the Sacramento wine.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yes, just have nothing bad. I take a few SIPs.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
But how did it feel to be in this? Because
I notice, like when we have people that are a
little bit reckless. I look over in y'all all just
having a blast. It's different right here.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Yeah, oh yeah, Well it's the onscreen phone calls, which
there is a there's there's a you know how the
the guy that was challenging you to come up to Albertville. Yes, uh,
there's a guy. I have a guy that wants to
heard that, and and it's gold. Let me let me
come down with that ball.
Speaker 4 (09:20):
You can take that, yo, yo.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
Let me share what I love. Let me chall what
I loved about listening.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
That is where I was to I was laughing about that,
sitting in a parking spot in front of wall.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
It's something about that made it better. Oh God, that god.
Speaker 4 (09:34):
I laughed at speed, he saying he sprung, he springed
his fingers.
Speaker 2 (09:37):
I did. I did, almost tore my nail off, turning
that guy down. Yeah, he has also been fighting this
th h thing because his thanksgiving, he said roughly, when
he keeps catching his middle. We are very thankful your back. Thankful,
good to be back. Thanks a lot. We'll be right back.
Speaker 7 (09:58):
This is the Rick Your show.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
We have some things to discuss. I will say, Speedy,
you were you were talked about.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
By Greg and me yesterday. Huh yeah, we were just
well we were. It was something bothers.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
I mean, it's and we've talked about it before. And
so Greg, what do you know, Usually there's a few
days a week that that Greg will stay over in
the ham.
Speaker 2 (10:26):
You know he didn't go back to it.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
You know his uh de spends on what the week's Yeah,
you know he Look, he runs Pleasant Valley. We all
know that, right, But sometimes he'll come onto the city
just get.
Speaker 2 (10:37):
A little more red does and get a little more rest.
It may have something going in the afternoon.
Speaker 1 (10:40):
It runs me like, first of all, I had an
outstanding little surprise yesterday because I was trying to get
in some mom time to keep keep up, keep up
with Greg, and so I went by to see Mom.
And as I was walking up to Mom's little cottage,
it sounded like there was a party going on inside
my house. And that's not normal, no, And I mean
(11:02):
I heard laughing, and I heard kids, and I was like,
what a good night. And all of a sudden, I
throw that door open, and there's my sister, there's Greg's son,
and there's Greg's daughter, and Greg's son in law and
all four of his grandkids.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Wow. And I stepped in just like this, and they
look up. I said, just when you thought it couldn't
get any better, Uncle Ricks, here look and they went nuts.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Look, and I just I worked them into a frenzy
and they were coming one after another, and I was
picking them up, setting them down. Yeah, and and and
then it was so funny the things they would tell me,
you know, because Greg, Greg, Greg, Right now, these kids
are at one of the most fun ages because they
can all communication, but it's all through the eyes of
kid world.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
And it is Greg. You you must be having the
time of your life.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Oh, it's unbelievable. And I say, Thursday, they're all coming
to the house. Oh yeah, So so they come, uh,
they come running, and so Pistol Pace Jones gets there
first and he's got something on his arm, just wrapped
around his arm.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
He'll carry a little figure in it. And I said, hey,
I said, we got there. Is that a snake? No,
it's not a snake.
Speaker 1 (12:10):
His tree frog like that, and I said, I said no,
And I said, no, I think that's a snake. No,
it's a tree frog. And I said is it poisonous?
And his eyes got like that and he handed to me.
I said, like you got me of course. Then you know,
then he couldn't get enough of that, so then he
then he comes over. Then then Ellis comes in wide open,
who's six feet tall.
Speaker 2 (12:29):
You know, no teeth, no teeth.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
He knocked his teeth out, and then he begins to
make fun of himself. Hey, he fell on his face
and busts his teeth out.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Funny, he goes.
Speaker 1 (12:36):
I was on a scooter and green and I was down.
I was like hey, and I was like, I have
a pretty good attitude about it when you get your
teeth knocked out. And then I saw Taylor and I said,
those dad dad moments. You know, you're in him right now?
And uh, and Taylor look at me. He goes, he's
fir so fast. I couldn't There's nothing I can do.
And he goes, he went f him. I'm on the
scooter to face plan and knocked his HEAs at least
(12:58):
the teeth. The tooth he knocked out was loose. Yeah,
he said, you know, it's like blood everywhere. You're thinking,
how bad is it?
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Yeah? Yeah, And they send me a picture of me.
His nose was all skinned. Then te tiny was next.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Mary Hollis, she comes on over, you know, and it
jumps in my arms like that, and just immediately starts
talking and she goes.
Speaker 2 (13:18):
I brought donuts. I said, good, you brought donuts.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Can I have one? I can't have a donut. You know,
I didn't know you were coming. And I was like, well,
surely there's enough donuts.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Runkle rick.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Lets she just go and she and she just waved
me off, and I mean, never let me have a donut,
and uh, never did. And then and then of course
I always keep in her distance. Marya's backer going, I'm
kind of smiling.
Speaker 2 (13:40):
At you, but you.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Gonna have to work a little bit to get me.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
You got you got to earn her.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
And of course eventually just you know, threw marms there.
She came over, but it's almost like she's messing with you.
Speaker 2 (13:48):
It is. Then I'll send you a bust down, come
and hug you.
Speaker 1 (13:50):
Yeah, And she came and then showed me, uh, some
little doll she was dressing up. But the doll they
had not put a dress on her, of course, and
owned the room. And I said, hey, she's in her underwork.
I said, this little dolls in her underwear.
Speaker 2 (14:04):
She's got her underworld, you know.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
La said she she had to go by a challenge
yesterday afternoon and they had to announce that they saw
you good. Okay, great, yes, yeah, Greg, that place was
wide open. And then and then Greg, I called our sister.
She she she sneaking in now that she's off this week,
as you tell you, that's right, of course, you know,
she did not mad. I said what are you doing here?
(14:30):
And she goes, what do you mean?
Speaker 2 (14:30):
What am I doing here?
Speaker 1 (14:31):
This is my mother. I said, I want to see
you right.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
There a lot.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Oh, here we go, and she said, she said Mama
are going shopping. Yeah, are fighting over second place. That's fine,
I know.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
And it felt that way. Hey, how about this.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
It felt that because mom told all of us, you know, Greg,
that he's going to be staying with me again tonight.
He's thinking about going on ricks for a little while.
But he's you know, he's in. He really is staying
because he stays here. Okay, okay, So anyway, so that
that brings up speeding.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
So Greg, I said, if you you're staying, let's let's
let's let's let's grind. Let's have a couple of steaks.
Speaker 1 (15:02):
Yeah nothing, Yeah, get some filats, you know, New York
butcher shop. By the way, Adler, the New York butcher
shop said they saw you the other day, came in
for some chicken.
Speaker 4 (15:10):
Oh yeah yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:12):
So so any and I said, I said, Adler's coming around,
didn't he?
Speaker 2 (15:15):
They said, they said, oh yeah. And so we.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Were all kinds of stuff, chili, Brunswick, stud bacon. So
we great bacon.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
They do you get to what's wrong with me? I'm
all worried.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah, well and that's break next segment.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
And this is gonna bother This is gonna bother you too.
What did I do? Greg?
Speaker 1 (15:34):
And I got eight ounce fil A's and baby Tata
and we're just sitting there loving it, and Alston Greg goes,
you believe speed he wants a fla well done I did.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
I don't want it. Well, we ain't. And I was like,
I didn't say, well, make him butterfly. He said, you
make a butterfly, you're just making When we went to
Ruth Chris, I done it both ways, they asked, and
I didn't know what because you into it today. It's
just kind of He's got me crying and everything.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
Has to be pink inside. It's just the way it is.
You can't have a.
Speaker 2 (16:06):
Well done fil I have well done medium.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
They brought his out on fire one time, blew it out.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
You know, did he just did he misrepresent me? He said,
is this true enough? Grady would make you put it
back on the ground. That's what he said. Hey, Papa,
you're making your grandkids say, I'm just telling you tell
them not to.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Lie that you're telling me you haven't sent that day
we were at Ruth Chris that you didn't send yours back.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
I really I really probably lean more medium to medium,
well speedy from the bottom you ain't going. You ain't going.
You're not going medium here. Mm hmmm. I mean I
don't want it, you know, I don't want red juices
coming out of it. But I also don't want it
well done either.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
So basically you won't beef jerky just what it needs.
We just don't need to have a flake.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
That's do need to represent me correctly? All right?
Speaker 1 (17:02):
And when we come back, Greg, got told me about something. Greg,
You're just wrong about this about the steak sauce. No,
I'm not, Yes, Greg, Greg, you don't understand.
Speaker 2 (17:12):
Okay, all right? Oh you're walk you wrong twice today already.
Oh well you ain't starting off good, right you ain't?
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Oh yeah, Rick, could you go back there and put
this back on the grill for me?
Speaker 2 (17:23):
That's not little. I'm a tiny person. You got me
your size adlete.
Speaker 1 (17:30):

honest conversation in this country. You've seen what's happening on
the right, the gate keeping, the approved narratives. You know,

They're they're not bound to talking points or beholden to
anyone's agenda on the left or the right. They don't
(18:05):

Speaker 2 (19:19):
All right, So we do.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Have some things to discuss, and we're in the middle
of some of that right now. Greg and I just
hung out yesterday and beautiful day in Alabama, and we
were just kind of chilling and much needed some some rest, uh,
and we were cooking some steaks, and you know, we
talked about Speedy how he just needs to order another
(19:41):
cut of meat becus he didn't know how to eat
a file and go to New York.
Speaker 2 (19:45):
That's all right, And so so.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
Then I'm then all of a sudden, you know, I
really honestly think that the seasoning that we use and
all that, that it doesn't really need these steak sauce.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
And Greg, you know, kind of you getting steaks on
so I wanted.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
It from my potato. Oh for you'd like to up
my potato and steak sauce.
Speaker 2 (20:01):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
I didn't think about that, You're right, yeah, you did
say that. Yeah, So I go I found some and
then we were almost out, and I said, here you go, Greg,
And then here here comes the speech I got.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Just told him, I said it was Shoeless.
Speaker 1 (20:14):
I said, well, they've been closed now, but at least
ten years here they still sell it in grocery stores.
But first of all, this bottle you got, admit, that'd
been there a minute. We all lose stuff in the refrigerator, right,
but but we didn't.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
All the way back to when Shoeless was open. I
think they're done with even what.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
You got, no shoes steak sauces in grocery stores.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
There are still one here.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
No long close long clothes. Yeah, where you being apparently
not there every when I first started.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
You don't.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
I've seen their prices.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
You ain't going to shoot right here? They and that's
an expensive restaurant.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
But anyway, Rick had some shoea salce from back twenty ten.
Speaker 2 (20:54):
That's not true the expression I was fray too.
Speaker 1 (20:57):
I just went ahead and they wouldn't enough they in
the grocery store. Not now, I don't think. Yes, they
did went out of business, uh he he.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
Ranted on about that.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
And by the way, there may still be one open
in Miami or something.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
Yeah, let's go looking. I don't see one. They brought
that to us at the studio.
Speaker 1 (21:18):
That's not first start work. Why you remember that that
was a grocery store. They brought us all some of that,
and you took it home and tell me you don't
think that's what that is.
Speaker 2 (21:26):
I think it is, Ricky. That's about twelve thirteen years.
Looks like Florida might have a location.
Speaker 1 (21:32):
I bet Miami's got one, or Ricky, are you in Miami? No,
but you can buy it in the store. I think
you cannot here now.
Speaker 2 (21:38):
Closed saying too Paul Newman's dead, but still in the
grocery store, but his was more profidence.
Speaker 11 (21:45):
Good Newman is dead and he's stuff is in the
grocery store, but that he was.
Speaker 2 (21:50):
You can't dead, would They can keep things going? Gra
they brought us though. I'm actually mine's gone. But John
Boy and Billy's their show's over. I bet their barbecues. Yeah.
So the Shoela Steakhouse that I thought was open closed
in twenty seventeen, gracious, right before that's when rick got
that sauce.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
Now, look right there, it's at public That's where I
get my I don't think they have anymore.
Speaker 12 (22:14):
I see it.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
It's a Public's.
Speaker 2 (22:16):
You don't know, are you in public? Are you gonna
be wrong? Twice on public? Okay and speedy, I meant
that bottle. They had even to get the cap. They
have locations in Chicago, Florida, Naples, Florida, and Chandler, Arizona.
But Publics carries the saw.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Its amazing it stayed good after all this year. Greg,
what are you saying that it's probably a month old.
Speaker 4 (22:42):
You ain't just Clay to just come out as just Clay.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
You wouldn't have.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Bought Sholas at the store they had to give.
Speaker 2 (22:48):
Now you're telling me what I want. Yeah, you would
have got a one, But I don't really like a one.
I don't do a lot of steak house. I don't mind.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
I like to dip my potato in it. You know
when I was a let's get a litt for you know,
when I was a stupid little kid, I was a
ketchup guy with steak and that was a bip.
Speaker 2 (23:05):
I loved it. Why was that a bill? It just was?
But like, why are you putting that ketchup?
Speaker 9 (23:09):
Greg?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
There is right there, Greg, there, It is right that
you got there. Greg, he's not what he was. Yeah,
but how much evidence you show available in Alabama? So wow,
So this is what he was like, my Shoela got fired, Greg.
(23:29):
They took it right out with him. Now he didn't
so what he's would he just stay with his kicking
and scraped.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
I need to get another bottle? Yes, yeah, that bottle
been there a minute, it had We.
Speaker 2 (23:39):
Need a wrong again, Greg Liner, I'm not convinced until
you drive down there and bring me a bottle back.
I'm not convinding right now. Bet your good sauce.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
By the way, I mean, the way you had, the
way you had to dig and find it, I mean,
I mean I just assumed he had been there a minute, right,
I didn't know, Greg, we were going to imprompt you
have some flats.
Speaker 2 (23:58):
I wasn't ready.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
I know, Hey, look we had a butter issue. To
wouldn't say he was a little slacking.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
On the bottle. We had a butter issue?
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Did We were out of some stuff they spend. I've
been through some some rough days.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
It was in Jersey.
Speaker 1 (24:10):
Say here's the deal that they're showing. Now, that's the
current day when you had the old Shoela bottle.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
That is not true. That's how this was.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
This was my afternoon. This was my afternoon. Really, all
the things I did. I got to get a speech
about the supposed to be a relaxing afternoon. Well it
turned into me defending the Shoela steak sauce. Well yeah,
well that's the current one. But the one we had
it had like a picture of Mike Shoelan.
Speaker 2 (24:35):
It did not celebrate had done. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:41):
No, And I'm gonna tell you the fact that Speedy
didn't know that one closed in twenty seventeen.
Speaker 2 (24:45):
He was gonna go eat that.
Speaker 9 (24:46):
Now.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
I think if Speedy drove past shooters, he'd get rash. Right,
here's what's going to happen. You don't remember the Shoela
that in God Rest his soul. Jeordie Henson who went
on in you know from his struggle and so but
he if you remember this, he made a bold statement.
(25:08):
You know, Jordie was uh like we hid around. I mean,
he he was aggressive. He was a firestial little fellow
and and he made a bold statement. This was during
the years that Bama was struggling, and that nobody loved
Bama more than Jordan him. He did, I mean read
elevant club, the whole thing, okay, and I mean just
absolutely just covered in crimson. Okay, and so uh not
(25:30):
just the blood of Jesus, but also the crimson of
the time. Yeah and so h So anyway, he this
was when BAMA was struggling, okay, and and he might
have been when she was there. He made a bold statement, okay,
that Bamo's gonna win nine games.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Okay. Now this is not modern day bound. Yeah, this
is when BAMA was a little run.
Speaker 1 (25:51):
They couldn't quite figure out. One coach went to a
strip club, never coached the game, right. It was all
during that confusion. And I said to him, I said,
by the way, that's a step out. That's no way
they win nine games. And uh he said, oh, yeah,
they're gonna win that. I said, I said, please, you're
you're being delusional. I said, you got crimson glasses on.
They're not gonna win nine games. And and he said, oh.
He said, hey, I'll tell you how confident it is. If
(26:13):
they don't win nine games, I'll take you out to
eat anywhere you want to go. I said, I'll take that,
and and not that we should gamble, okay, But there
was no friendly way. That was a friendly and I
didn't put anything. I didn't we wanna lose anything. And
I said, I'll take that. Of course, they didn't win
nine games, and I knew they were gonna win nine games.
And he said, well, where you want to go? I said,
I'll take Shoelass. I said, because we're gonna we're gonna
teach you a bade lesson. And he went to Shoelas.
(26:36):
And when they brought him the bill, and oh, look,
Sherry and I we went all in after advertizer. At
one time I was eating lobster. And so when it
was over, when it was over, they brought him and look,
Jeordie Henson was a very successful businessman. So he's not
like somebody that he's and he's not gonna handling. He's
not cheap anything like that. And when they brought him
(26:59):
the voice, I saw the color leave it and I said,
you ought over there? He goes, and this was his quote.
I'll never forget it. I said, are we done making
both statements about Maama? He goes, yes, yes I am.
And I said, look, Kidnasi, I said, I'll make it
up to you. He goes, oh, if you want to
make it up to me, would you pay my house
payment this month?
Speaker 2 (27:18):
What guys, what you are? I mean he was exaggerating,
but the the price is definitely a car payment.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Oh, the prices were ugly off and there wasn't and
there wasn't be four of us three times, and I'm
talking about every one of us, every I mean even
even the ladies. I mean they couldn't get out of
there for somewhere around two hundred dollars piece.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
Wow. It was ugly right, So when the grocery store opens,
do you want me to run and go down that
I can shove the bottle? The one Rick had had
MIC on it. That's how it is.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
Listen, you know what, and he looked, you know what's
that richer himlet's headset on. But the uh, now yes,
there were ratting duns on most of them, but they
had to run back when Mike was there. This one
Rick had actually had MIC on it.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
And then it's a sticker on there it said beat manzil.
Speaker 2 (28:15):
We'll be back.
Speaker 1 (28:16):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
We had much more to cover, So Greg, thank you
for a pleasant afternoon. There wasn't enough in there. There
wasn't enough in the bottle to really do anything. Just
made you MADK Yeah, yeah, I guess he was collecting them.
I guess you couldn't eat you bad potato. He was
collecting the bottle because they had mic on it.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Greg, your role yesterday was supposed to be to kind
of take some stress down.
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Yeah, right, you go, lbowdep and refrigerator come out with that.
Speaker 4 (28:40):
White two K white two CAPERSI.
Speaker 7 (28:43):
The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Other things to discuss on the program today. So another
thing that we have not hit on today is Monday
Night full Ball. Last night, I'm trying to brave. But
Greg and I saw I think thirty seconds yeah and yeah,
half of a series, yeah and so and then that
(29:10):
was about it.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Uh. But this this McCaffrey, what a player.
Speaker 1 (29:17):
He said, he's good when he's healthy, and it's it's
like he's it's like he's deceivingly good. Like when when
Greg and I watched the thirty seconds in exaggerating but
it wasn't more than the first series.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Yeah, first off, we didn't.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
Watch the end of the series, but the first time
he plays, all went to him four yeah, and they
either they threw it to him or handing him the ball,
and it's like almost like there was no There's like
there was no one else on the team. Now, the
forty nine ers have been riddled with injuries, so they've
lost a lot of people. But having him back and
having him healthy as a game changer.
Speaker 2 (29:49):
Getting to play his old team. Yeah.
Speaker 10 (29:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:51):
And the Panthers, I know they're doing better, but it's
almost like, and they were talking about this in pregame
for those of you that watched it, the Panthers their
record right now, they're probably the worst team with that record.
You know, it's like, you got your record's not bad,
but we don't.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Think they would have won. They would have been leading
their divisions.
Speaker 1 (30:09):
I know, but everybody's kind of like, this team's really
not great. They're not as bad as they have been,
but they're not great.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
They're not.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
But they're young, and I think that if they can
keep that team together, they keep working on it, I mean,
you know, next season could be something, but I don't.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
This was a cool Oh no, this is post. Yeah.
Prior to they did a really good piece on him.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
We saw that when they interviewed and his mom and dad,
and then they also interviewed the coaches.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
Mom and dad.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
Shanahan, Yeah, and how you know they I remember when
his dad played Oh boy, you think i'd have to
hear that.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Greg gave me a whole speech on his career. Oh gosh,
forty nine Ers ended up winning twenty to nine. If
you missed it, thirty.
Speaker 11 (30:54):
One touches for Christian mccaffis believable. Yeah, one hundred and
forty three yards one TV. Yeah, yeah, thirty one touches.
Speaker 2 (31:01):
So we're doing They did want also, it was interesting.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
I told you I ran into a lot of Greg's
family yesterday as they were over it at Mama's. Did
you know that your kids want you to start wearing hats?
More hats? Why they're saying they're saying there, I love
this twenty three years. Every day I talked to Taylor
and Chandler agreed that those are great. That's Greg's son
and daughter. If you don't know, they said that you
(31:26):
wore hats all the time when you had a a
head full of hair, but now that your hair is thinned,
you don't wear hats anymore. And they said it's over
put that on, that doesn't matter. They'd like to see
you in a cap more.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
I mean, like I said, I just three years Well,
that's what they said.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Why why is the cap gone? They want the cap back.
I don't know, Greg, let's see you in hats more.
Why I'm gonna have to ask them what's the problem is.
Speaker 2 (31:52):
Well, I believe I know what it is, Greg, and
we've talked about this. I don't know what it is
about our kids. They love to get on. Oh yeah,
they love you. Get my three boys together in the
same house as me. Oh, everything's bald and chicken legs
and all this, and they're having fun. Your kids are
having great. They didn't say all the time, they're having
(32:14):
fun with you. They're saying, like I noticed, I gave
you a camp house hat. You're not wearing it. Well,
it's still in there. He's got some hats and had
that hadn't been hunting or anything. No, you don't have
to wear it on the show.
Speaker 1 (32:24):
But I'd like to see you work somewhere ye camp Maybe.
Speaker 2 (32:28):
When you're chasing off the Midnight Riders.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
Right by the way, Any update on the Midnight Riders. No,
Lisa sent you when you were off.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Lisa sent some video footage of them out in front
of They showed up like at eight in the morning
when they were out in the pasture.
Speaker 1 (32:40):
That's huge to them, right because the usually may not
rather use it, but there was. It was the two
main ones because you know, they've got a couple of
extras that bring every Now one's real level.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Yeah, we've got to show you that. But you talk
about living the life. They're out there just best friends.
One of them walking and just collapses. This all is over.
And so they just.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
Love your your that little pasture area. They just love
your home. And they're like pillows off the porch they do.
He knew there, No, Lisa's putting her pillows up. Leally
ever get the pillow back.
Speaker 2 (33:04):
No, it around for a few days and she saw
him with it. Yeah, that was the best part.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
They had stolen it and it's been days since she'd
seen it, and since she looked, they have it again.
Then it's out there in the pasture and they got
it lamb beside him. That's that's that was one of
my favorite up Bonnie. So they're really friendly and they
they're real playful. At two in the morning, right on
the front, poor do you kind of wish do you
sort of wish that they didn't come around this much? Well,
(33:31):
the good thing that I do like is when I
come out.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
They leave, Okay, they don't.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
They're not trying to join the family, right, They just
like tear stuff up and you know, get pillows. But
whenever they see me, they're gone. And I haven't been
mean to him. I don't know what the problem is.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
You just tear stuff up and leave. Yeah, kind of
like the two of you in high school.
Speaker 1 (33:49):
Yeah, exactly. Yeah, that's one hundred percent.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Greg. Can you start wearing like a newsboy.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Hat, like.
Speaker 1 (33:57):
When people think they're sharp with those That's great, that's
my thing. I were at this cut of the camp
Papa wear for Dora.
Speaker 2 (34:04):
I'm gonna get me. That was my thing. That can
go oh oh sky? Why rap artist? That was the DJ? Yeah, yeah,
that's funny. Yeah, I had that came. I thought I
was black because my name's Calvin, right right, And to
make sure that hasn't died. Yeah, no, and everybody, my grandkids,
(34:24):
they'll even like if the ball games take shakers and
put them on my head, they look, you got here?
Oh yeah yeah, we just laugh at office ball guys, don't.
I don't care. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:34):
At this point, no, am I trying to impress nobody, right, right, so.
Speaker 2 (34:38):
Long as Lee likes it, it's okay. Right, So get
your cap on me. If I sat in here with
the cap on, you know what, let's try. I remember
I remember Speedy's cap years.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
Yeah, I said, I hate the camp every day for
over twenty years, there was a time you saw Speedy
either the cap or the can goo. I was washing
my car, there was no imagine what.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
It's a joke. I started to watching that old sand hat,
you know, to keep a son off. Yeah. I do
wear a hat when I run, do you? Yeah? Cap no,
I got that's just to get what is it? It's
just one old bucket hat. You wear a buckethead while
you're running. Yeah, it holds me back some. It's not
a great running cut through the wind. All right, we'll
(35:23):
be right. I wish I could see that me too. Lee,
lay take video Potto of the hour.
Speaker 7 (35:29):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Following both of those, you've activated notifications and all that
so you know when the archive is available. A lot
of you are emailing about this story. Speedy has it today.
Odd story out of Virginia. Virginia high school football coach
goes missing during undefeated season. Yeah, it's not like if
they were getting beat you like, what, no wonder? Yeah,
(35:57):
but I mean undefeated. I mean he's just vanished. Yes,
he has vanished. Head football coach Travis Turner has been
reported missing, casting a shadow over what was expected to
be a triumphant, undefeated season. Yeah, for his Union high
school team in Virginia. And we got people that follow
(36:19):
the show out of Virginia. Any all familiar with this
school and the coach.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
That's odd.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
So he was last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, gray sweatpants,
and glasses. They are looking for him now, uh oh
foul play? What amid the search? Wise County Public Schools
(36:46):
said an unidentified staff member was placed on administrative leave
with pay, pending an internal investigation into into external allegations.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
What's that mean? Someone the one's claiming, Hey, that guy's
got something to do with.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
It, or maybe they're saying this is connected on why
he would disappear. A staff member has been placed on
administrative leave with pay while an external agency reviews an
allegation that was reported to the divisions. I guess this
is standard procedure, not a determination of wrongdoing. And by
the way, we need to make that clear too. So
(37:22):
somebody said, y'all might need to look at this guy.
I guess yeah, so they can't comment any further.
Speaker 2 (37:28):
Yeah, it is a It is a strange story because
it's like, hey, he's missing. His wife even posted on
Facebook that hey, they can't find him or whatever. But
then the story doesn't go into too much details.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
On says that that's post you're talking about from his
wife has now been deleted, but it said missing, and
that's all we know that has now been removed for
some reason.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
They got canine units, drones, ground crews. How long has
it been mentioned?
Speaker 7 (38:00):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (38:01):
He let's see.
Speaker 11 (38:04):
People are okay, I don't I can't. I don't know
if I can confirm this. But people are saying that
police were actually talking to this coach because of an
improper relationship the coach was having.
Speaker 2 (38:17):
Yeah, and then he flayed. People are starting to to
text that to saying some allegations were made against him,
and that's all they are is allegations. And it's possible
that he has looked at what he was facing, looked
at the undefeated season and says, hey, all of this
is about to come crumbling down. I'm going to try
(38:38):
to flee that's just that's just that speculation which the
staff member that was put on play on administrative leave.
It did say the situation involves an active law enforcement matter,
so that that person that was put on leave, and
so there's a little more to me that they were guilty.
(38:58):
Just it's a standard procedure. There's instigation. Yeah, but yeah,
it doesn't look good.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
So anyway, interesting stories. So now let me go to
just the practical part. This is just the way my
mind operates. Okay, I'm I'm I'm the coach. Now that
is the inroom, got undefitted, season going, Our coach has vanished.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
I'm taking over. I'm taking over kids.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
See you, guys, I appreciate what you've done to this point.
I mean what right now, I don't know when Virginia
in Alabama. We're deep, We're deep, We're deep in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (39:32):
I guess you just tell the team. I can't speak
to where coach is or what he's done, but that
doesn't take away for what we've accomplished.
Speaker 1 (39:38):
Let's go finish. And and here's why. Here's here's where
you're awkward.
Speaker 9 (39:42):
Do you do?
Speaker 1 (39:42):
Here's where you're you get awkward. You can't really give
the win one for the Gipper speech, because if it
turns out that he's done something that should not be
celebrated or would not cast a good light on his character, again.
Speaker 2 (39:55):
That's speculation. We don't know.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Yeah, but I'm talking about You've got to be careful
if you do when one for the Gipper rights if
the Gippers on the lamb? Thank you, Greg? Yes, I
mean but but you're right. So do you just like
you got to focus inward. Let's focus on us.
Speaker 2 (40:11):
Yeah, you can only let's let's win it.
Speaker 1 (40:14):
Let's let's win it can image the rumors around that town.
Speaker 2 (40:17):
Oh Greg, Oh yeah, so.
Speaker 4 (40:20):
Guys, let's win one for the Gipper. His wife and
girlfriend miss him very much.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
By the way, So you look who told you it
was funny? And look who?
Speaker 4 (40:31):
Yeah, you're right that that should tell you a lot.
Whose applause do you want?
Speaker 1 (40:36):
That's exactly right.
Speaker 2 (40:37):
That's a great idea. I know, I know it was
the way they said they've already won one game without him.
I didn't know. Okay, Ricky just reading text, Oh yeah,
you'll do that. You're back right, agree? His own text
must be about this text that they found.
Speaker 1 (40:52):
How about this guilty when I when I see all right,
when I see stuff coming in, I just.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
Just like, we got this. Well, y'all know, y'all have
that feeling got him, You know that feeling where you're like,
you want, you want some information that the story doesn't provide.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
They can be completely wrong. A lot of them just
make it up right. They're willing to give you some information.
It's almost like I'm hungry and there's a morsel m.
Speaker 2 (41:15):
And so that's a good one, right there. Okay, Oh
that's fun. That's real good. Oh that's good. Yeah, we
can't read that, Rick, that's hilarious.
Speaker 1 (41:23):
No, it's kind of what Adler said. It does fall
in that category. Pretty good coach been be in the
middle of turmoil and still still still win, still winning.
Speaker 2 (41:34):
I wanted someone wanted to know if we're talking about
Lane Kiffin or the Virginia coach. Don't have to read
when I want to read that I did. That was funny.
That was a fact.
Speaker 5 (41:44):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:44):
And we were talking about Lane Kiffin.
Speaker 4 (41:45):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (41:46):
And the rumors are about l s us offered him
ninety million plus million to the to the roster and
blah blah blah. I thought it was weird and We
discussed this rick that the a D and coach Kiff
and said, hey, for the Egg Bowl, there'll be an
announcement about his future. It seems like, and it was
an emailer yesterday says, hey, I'm an l s U
(42:07):
fan here, But it just seems like if he was staying,
wouldn't they get ahead of it and go so the
team could focus on the Egg Bowl and everything playoffs
they make the planet. Hey, I'm signing an extension, y'all.
Quit this all this noise, y'all ignore it. It just
seems weird that he's waiting till after the game. Why
(42:28):
put through? Why why put the team through?
Speaker 6 (42:30):
This?
Speaker 2 (42:30):
Is anybody going to say it? This is the dream
I had? Is anybody going to say it? I don't
know you did, and I don't know what's taking place.
And I'm not talking. This is not me as a
State fan. Keffn's a great coach. It just seems weird
that tactic.
Speaker 1 (42:43):
Yeah, if he was staying, I'm just staying, guys, I
ain't got a name, a date or yeah, we're going
to tell you I'm staying Saturday.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
By the way, such a weird story. Greg broke it
to me. Yesterday because I haven't been keeping up with this.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
And when Greg said that, I said, what did you
say He's going to make an announcement after the Egg Bowl?
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (42:59):
And Greg's like yeah, I said, no, that that's officially
been said.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Yeah, that's been saying. Yeah. And the AD e and
said the Hey, after meeting with coach Kiffin about the future, Well.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
Then you can look at it this way too. If
he was leaving, when the AD go, we'll just get
jazz on here. Oh you know what I'm saying instead
of staying around.
Speaker 2 (43:15):
And then did I see where I'm saying? A press conference?
Kiffin said, my whole goal is to finish the season
out or something weird.
Speaker 1 (43:21):
Like I mean, like like Rick said, they're a playoff team.
Speaker 2 (43:25):
They win eleven games the first time in school history. Yeah,
and and it just seems like you're accomplishing what you
want to where you are I know, yeah, but have
you seen the offer? That's what I'm saying, like ninety
million and twenty something millions to the roster. I am saying.
Speaker 1 (43:42):
You said, how much budget they give and go get players?
Speaker 2 (43:44):
Well they gave him eighteen million with Brian Kelly.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
Let's let's let's ask let's ask an unco turned out.
Let's ask an uncomfortable question. If all you care about
is winning a national championship, I mean, that's it, that's
all you care about. And in all fairness, because you know,
I've become kind of a biographer of Lane Kiffin. Yeah,
it seems like he's changing as a human, which is good.
So maybe his priorities are different now. But if your
(44:08):
priorities are, I just want to win a national championship
or two. I think I could, even though I don't
agree with this, I'd like to try to be the
next Saban.
Speaker 2 (44:17):
I don't think he is a side.
Speaker 1 (44:19):
But I'm just saying, if you if you were saying,
I want to get in those kind of I want
to be invited to that table, the national championship people.
You got a better chance to win one if you
do well and have a good budget at l s
U are omens. You're right, I mean, I'm.
Speaker 2 (44:34):
Just let's just get let's get it out there, let's
just talk. I just think the standards are do. I
love the old miss story, what we're doing. The deal is,
you're right, Uh, but you go to an l s
U or to an Alabama or to a Texas, Ohiowa State, Michigan,
you know, all in Florida, whatever. And you go three
four losses a couple of years in a row, You're gone.
Speaker 1 (44:55):
He can't get the coach for the rest of his life.
And what are his goals? Now, I hear you, what
are his I don't know what they are. You're right,
it's all what your goal is. If you want quality
of life, I promise you. Hugh Freees wish us he'd
stay where he was.
Speaker 2 (45:07):
He had.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
He had a good life going up there at Liberty. Yeah,
and uh, good as far as just having a good life.
Speaker 2 (45:12):
Yeah and and so.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
It's it's as long as you kept winning there at Liberty,
could have stayed there forever, beautiful place to live.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
Did a great job, did a great job there. So
the uh, it is the strange little world we live
in with college football, because.
Speaker 1 (45:28):
Now it's all this n I L this blatu transfer portals,
and it's just kind I'm running it great. Don't be
the cranky old man sitting over over waffle house.
Speaker 2 (45:39):
I talked to him. I talked to him yesterday. Kid,
ain't he never took a snap. We're gonna give him
a Ferrari.
Speaker 1 (45:44):
Come on, I know, look a name, image, likeness. If
you get in, do an endorsement, you get paid. That's
what I But you shouldn't have these collectives.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
That just have money. We're just handing out if somebody wanted,
like you see uh arch Manning does that clothing line
and he does the more beg asses.
Speaker 1 (46:00):
You know, babe, that's that's good. You can do that now.
Ed orz'er on won a national championship at l s U.
You don't think Keiven Kim go tagger.
Speaker 2 (46:08):
That's a good point.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Coach is gone, though his name's coming back up at
Ole miss again going back if Kevin Law now is.
Speaker 7 (46:16):
The Rick Burger's show.
Speaker 1 (46:24):
So I do want to apologize to the Vox seats
on Friday. My absence was unavoidable. I really you know,
it's tough to miss any shows, missing the ones where
our guests are coming to see us. Those those are
they bother you double because now you you feel like
you've let not only the audience down, your your guys
(46:46):
that work down, but also now people that were coming
to be part of it. Did did anybody when I
said that the will has been cold? I don't know
what happened for it?
Speaker 2 (46:55):
Uh, they won some Rick and Bubba merch. Well, gosh,
that right there, and it was it was from way
back and when yeah, I had in the office that
was really it came from I hope it was autograph. Yeah,
but they actually won some Rick Burgess show merge that too,
and I grabbed. I don't know where that even came out. Guy,
(47:16):
I told everybody that when started, I told everybody called
thirty years.
Speaker 1 (47:21):
Yeah, it's called thirty one years. Yeah, I was, I was,
I was talking about that. I said, when we start
the new show, I said, when you have branded something
the way that we all do in the Rick and Bubba,
you know, three decades for thirty one years, it's gonna.
Speaker 2 (47:34):
Pop back up. You didn't even know what I said to
you looked at me like, yeah, yeah, I know. It
was a great group and they they were a lot
of fun. It was a great Burgess Uh ball battle too.
Was two of the guys that came together actually ended
up playing each other. And it was a really good
guy because I did an out of standing job calling Rick.
He didn't know he forgot everybody's name, and he's like,
(47:55):
I mean, it's uh it's twelve, and I'm like, who's
in the lead. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
Guy on the right. Yeah, the guy on the right. Well,
what do you want me to do? I want you
to do it better? Well you asked, I.
Speaker 2 (48:08):
Mean no, it was funny. That was part of the bit, right, Yeah,
so the Marching one. Yeah, okay, yeah, that's my one
that much, right, I yeah, right, that's why I'm not right.
Speaker 1 (48:23):
So yeah, completely was just a home just then. Uh,
the a couple of things that we have talked about.
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Uh, and I understand.
Speaker 1 (48:31):
You that Larry the patch man in Carolyn got there.
Speaker 2 (48:35):
They just sent me a text and said they got
their new best of CD and they're on it. Are
you ready? And he said they they really love it.
So thank y'all, speedy. This is Larry.
Speaker 4 (48:46):
I got my CD patches.
Speaker 2 (48:49):
Like like a patch.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
So so anyways, so the new cdet now we're getting reviews,
like you said, I saw some of that in text nation.
Speaker 2 (48:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (48:58):
The hard copies are now when this new because we
sold out. Then we restocked. Uh this new restock when
they're gone this.
Speaker 2 (49:06):
Time they'll be gone. So that's it. That'll be it.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
So I mean hard copies and then it'll be out
there in the streaming world at some point.
Speaker 2 (49:12):
We don't know when.
Speaker 1 (49:14):
Uh So, and if you were and if you're following
me on Instagram, I actually put all of the cuts
on my story maybe late yesterday, maybe last night.
Speaker 2 (49:23):
So if you want to see what made the CD,
you can just see it right there too, uh or
go check it out yourself.
Speaker 1 (49:29):
Rick Burgess show dot com.
Speaker 2 (49:30):
Is under shop or has a patch problem? Cut one
CD two. Don't you know he was grinning ear to
ear when he heard that. By the way, I like
the way yeah.
Speaker 1 (49:41):
Uh And and I know a lot of you have
have been asking to you know, the bottom line on
me being away is not not complicated as far as
you know in the situation. It's it's not anything that
you know, I'm going to elaborate on other than you know,
it's one of those moments. And you know, I think
we all hit these moments at times in life. Is
(50:03):
you may be saying the right thing, you may be
even teaching the right thing, you may believe the right things,
and then there's those moments when you know, our sovereign God,
you know, is not afraid to go. Well, let's see
if you put that in action. So you know, if
if you learn through other difficulties you went through. And
(50:26):
Cherry wrote this in her book that you know, when
when there's certain things that when it comes to being
you know, the man of a family, the husband and
the father, there are things that we can't farm it
out to somebody else. Nobody can replace you. And so
I was in one of those situations where I, you know,
(50:48):
this was my job as as the head of the
house to kind of guide the family through some difficulty.
And you know that that has been you know, at
least stabilized, so I can come back to work, and
you know, and those of you that now and I do,
I do, I understand, Oh you know.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Please, we have to know.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Please, And but but the truth is, and I just
want you to be kind about this, and I know
that the overwhelming majority of you are. It is not
as I said in the post I put out, I
don't have the right or the permission to tell someone
else's story. Uh, if they want to tell it, or
they want to give that permission, then you know, and
(51:31):
we think it could benefit then that'd be great.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
But that's their decision. That is not my decision. And
I don't have the right to do that.
Speaker 1 (51:39):
So all I had to do, and we'll explain to
you is I had a job to do and I've
been doing it and that that's kind of the end of it,
all right. So so the other stories that are out
there today, and thank you all for being so supportive
and so kind, and those of you that haven't been you.
Speaker 2 (51:57):
Know, that's just you'll have to live with yourself. So
and that's a very few of you.
Speaker 1 (52:02):
Uh, let's uh, let's also talk about uh, this, this
story that has been coming. This happens too much. Now,
this is in Bangkok. So Greg will say, well, thank goodness,
is so far away.
Speaker 2 (52:17):
It is.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
And I know, Greg, you don't care about things that are
too far away. But I will never be in Bangkok. Yeah, Greg,
you don't know that time. I'm pretty sure.
Speaker 9 (52:24):
Greg.
Speaker 1 (52:24):
I'm gonna tell you when it happens and you and
are standing in Bangkok, I'm going you could come out
like what the hell. I'm gonna look at you and say, hey,
baby brother, the location check. We're in Bangkok.
Speaker 2 (52:34):
This is on you. Bangkok scares me. It does me too. Ever,
since I watched.
Speaker 1 (52:38):
Hang Over three, it feels like it that anything anything
like like it's like there's debauchery and then there's bangkok.
Speaker 2 (52:44):
Oh yeah, you know.
Speaker 1 (52:46):
But anyway, woman found alive and this is the one
anytime these stories have come up over the Rick and
Bubby years, and on this show. I just don't like
when I hear these things. Woman found alive and coughing
after being brought in for cremation.
Speaker 2 (53:00):
Y'all got me.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
He's wiggling in the cas is wiggling.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
Oh my goodness, I'm laugh okayd not throw me.
Speaker 1 (53:10):
But you know, we've had these stories before.
Speaker 4 (53:11):
Interesting watching involve She's moving in the casket.
Speaker 2 (53:15):
She is. We've had these stories before, but normally it
didn't turn out that the person fully recovered and he
starts walking around again, right, is it? Or is this
case that way? Oh? She picking her up, she says, wow.
Said I was a bit surprised, said that.
Speaker 1 (53:31):
The person who was moving the casket said, uh, I
heard a faint knock coming from the coffin. I was
a bit surprised, so I asked them to open the coffin,
and everyone was startled. I saw her opening her eyes
slightly and knocking on the side of the coffin. She
must have been knocking for quite some time.
Speaker 2 (53:51):
Wow, that would be a nightmare.
Speaker 11 (53:52):
They said her blood sugar spiked, so they thought she
come on, man, somebody check it out.
Speaker 4 (53:58):
They mistook it.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
This is why I said the corner should not be
an elected office.
Speaker 2 (54:02):
She's so thinks she like she was in the movie Wicked.
I mean.
Speaker 4 (54:06):
That's a nice well.
Speaker 2 (54:08):
I mean, wow, you've seen some of them. They lost
some weight. This here, imagine the fak not and then
you look, no Bangkok.
Speaker 1 (54:20):
Do you think because she put her in the coffin, well,
I said, she looks she's she's definitely older. Do you
think somebody's like, yeah, she's dead, put her away? I mean,
I mean, it's finally getting the room back.
Speaker 11 (54:35):
Somebody gets the Bangkok dangerous.
Speaker 1 (54:39):
It's almost like when I've been gone to the barrier
that I provide between you and Greg disappeared.
Speaker 2 (54:45):
Yeah, we the gap, Like, no, I need to know
what takes place for them to put her in a
coffin and go like that's it. Yeah, there's gotta be
a little more mirror in front of her mouth. If
she's bleeding. This wasn't pretty. Yeah, I ain't like we
found a f ain't heartbeat. She's moving.
Speaker 1 (55:02):
So, so this is the the thing about this is,
I'm like you, I don't know how it works in Bangkok,
but I know that our corners are just elected.
Speaker 2 (55:11):
Yeah. Wow, it just seems like that shouldn't be.
Speaker 1 (55:14):
I'm not could have made this call. Yeah, like you said,
just get a mirror out something something. Somebody leaned down
there and lists a little bit more and they just
looked at it.
Speaker 2 (55:24):
Yeah, they had to lead her. Wow, don't anybody he
don't overlook what?
Speaker 1 (55:30):
Don't overlook you know, it could be it's just one example.
Don't overlook what Adler was saying.
Speaker 11 (55:35):
Yeah, blood sugar, spike y'alled she didn't die.
Speaker 4 (55:39):
Let's double check on that.
Speaker 2 (55:41):
All right, we'll be right back.
Speaker 7 (55:43):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 1 (55:52):
It is fantastic. Some of the best coffee in the world. Also,
don't don't forget that Brinner Burgess Memorial fun coming up
on Giving.
Speaker 2 (56:01):
Tuesday next week.
Speaker 1 (56:03):
You can find that to donate button at Burgessministries dot com.
So either drink the coffee or you can donate. And
we continue to hand out those grants to evangelical ministries.
Speaker 2 (56:14):
All over the world and even down the street.
Speaker 1 (56:17):
Just as we were instructed to our Jerusalem, to our Judea.
Speaker 2 (56:21):
To our Samaria and ends of the earth. Okay, so
no way that I would take this on.
Speaker 1 (56:30):
I know that we're supposed to walk, and walking is
good for us, and I try to walk a little bit.
And usually usually when I'm gonna walk, it's it's like
I'm gonna go walk with my wife. I'm not gonna
walk solo. I don't really solo walk a lot now,
and I might walk around like out there at the farm,
just you know, doing it. Yeah, but I'm not going
to do that where I buy myself where you looking.
(56:52):
I'm at a park and I say I will begin
walking now. Yeah, So you know, it just feels, yeah,
I almost feels like that to be something you do
as a couple, not something yet that.
Speaker 2 (57:02):
Are your dog. Everybody at least run a dog.
Speaker 1 (57:04):
Wouldn't be bad if it's not a if it's not annoying.
It needs to be kind of a masculine dog.
Speaker 2 (57:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (57:12):
You know, sometimes you see a guy walking by himself
and he's got.
Speaker 2 (57:14):
Some little fife indoor dog and you're hangling, where's fefe.
She's a multician, so right, you know, you should probably
have somebody else with you.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
Yeah, but the but here's a guy. Here's a guy,
a British man walks around the world with Greg war
Have you seen the story? Because I want to ask
you this question. I want to hear I navigated the ocean.
Speaker 2 (57:35):
Okay, okay, Well.
Speaker 4 (57:36):
He didn't walk on the ocean.
Speaker 1 (57:38):
If he did, this is a much bigger thing.
Speaker 2 (57:41):
Yeah, ask me.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
I want to ask you how long do you think
it's taking him to walk around the world. Has he
completed it? He's about to complete it in what next year?
Speaker 2 (57:53):
Ten years? Okay? Greg?
Speaker 1 (57:54):
Greg says ten. You've seen the story?
Speaker 2 (57:56):
Yeah? Okay, Adam, you know the story? Greg No.
Speaker 1 (57:58):
Twenty seven, twenty seven, tancel twenty years. He left Chile
twenty seven years ago on foot? Is he and how
does he qualifile walking around the earth?
Speaker 11 (58:09):
He'll show you the map here literally is across continents.
Speaker 2 (58:13):
Okay, all right.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
Caral Bushby has been walking the world NonStop for twenty
seven years, across the America's, Alesia and now Europe. In
twenty twenty six, he'll finally be home in England after
thirty six thousand miles.
Speaker 10 (58:27):
Why death is a good one on the fact that
you know our lives are short. I've always wanted to
live it to the fullest.
Speaker 4 (58:36):
What is a day in the life of you?
Speaker 10 (58:40):
Well, for the last three months, the typical days have
been trying to stay alive on very bad roads, very
narrow single lane roads left and traffic, so I literally
feel like I'm part of a video game.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
One of your main lessons that you often talk about
is that people you found are generally good.
Speaker 7 (58:59):
People are around the world.
Speaker 10 (59:01):
The first two or three days on the road, and
I remember being way out there and going right down
the southern tip, still in Chile, his indigenous coach just
brought me in. We couldn't really communicate, but they just
brought me into that, sat me down, put plates of
food in front of me.
Speaker 2 (59:16):
From that day on.
Speaker 10 (59:17):
It it's just been the same thing, meeting people face
to place on the road. Yeah, I found nothing got
the best in those twenty seven years, which has just
been remarkable.
Speaker 2 (59:24):
There you go, guys, you take twenty seven years out
of Yeah, can you go back to the to they
could you pull it back?
Speaker 1 (59:32):
He got on a boat somewhere he didn't want. He
got on a boat. I saw a boat area.
Speaker 2 (59:36):
Here's him. He started down.
Speaker 4 (59:38):
Yeah, bottom of South America.
Speaker 11 (59:41):
He goes up through Central America, up through like you know,
Panama Canal, through the United States.
Speaker 4 (59:47):
Now he's up into Canada.
Speaker 2 (59:48):
Notice he bypassed Portland. That was smart, was smart, cold
and stuff. He didn't take on Chicago, he'd be dead. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (59:56):
And then so now he's in Alaska.
Speaker 2 (59:59):
How did he do that?
Speaker 4 (01:00:00):
And then Alaska touches Russia? Russia a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:00:03):
I mean, you can't just show up in Russia.
Speaker 4 (01:00:05):
It used to be ice. You could walk across it,
but now I think you got to take a boat.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Now that thy right there, that hot right there, he
went on a boat there. Yeah, you counted, Greg, you counted.
Speaker 4 (01:00:14):
From Alaska to Russia. I think there's a little boat.
Speaker 2 (01:00:16):
Well he's walking land, but walk a long way across
Russia and bypass Ukraine over smart over.
Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
But you can just walk through Russia, you can, Greg.
This guy did it? Uh he looks kind of like
a Rusky, so that helps it.
Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Think he does.
Speaker 4 (01:00:29):
And now there he is ending in the.
Speaker 2 (01:00:31):
UK around the world.
Speaker 1 (01:00:36):
I want your Australia, I want your ruling. Okay, I
want you're ruling. Did did this guy just walk an
incredibly long way?
Speaker 2 (01:00:44):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:00:45):
Or did he walk around the world.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
He walked in incredibly and it is incredible long way,
but technically he didn't walk around the world because that's
not possible. Thank you, Greg, I knew you need to
get that out of way. He's spent twenty seven years
doing nothing but walking. I don't know how. I guess everybody.
That indigenous bunch they fed him.
Speaker 8 (01:01:04):
Indigenous bunch fed him. Statement, I guess that indigenous bunch
fed him.
Speaker 2 (01:01:11):
Well, he had to have some money. I was going
to say he did. He picked He might be wealthy.
Did he pick up jobs like where he would go
through and stop and work for the dates?
Speaker 4 (01:01:20):
I don't know, but he looks like a kid the
beginning photos looks like forget that fifty dump. Yeah, remember
when he ran if he just got dumped and he
was like, I'm out of here.
Speaker 2 (01:01:32):
Just think about how he's physically changed. That's what started.
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Yeah, that's what started.
Speaker 2 (01:01:36):
He say, did he ever meet a girl on the
way staying here with you? Hey, I'm the guy walking
around the world. Yeah, you want to go to dinner,
you want to stay with me? You got a walk
with me? I'm out? I think you know, I think
she'd say, could you shower first. I bet he got
some callouses on him. O feet, Oh yeah, you could
get a wood rasp. He's not walking barefooted. Feet looks soft.
(01:02:00):
Oh yeah, it makes him look like nothing.
Speaker 11 (01:02:02):
And it looks like he's walking with almost just like
a stroller or a chariot.
Speaker 2 (01:02:06):
He's getting there and.
Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
A little chariot kind of thing.
Speaker 2 (01:02:09):
You walked, he went, and he would he would take
a break.
Speaker 1 (01:02:12):
So you you started and stopped and you walked twenty
seven years. That's what you devote your life to to
see the world. And you think that's sharp. You didn't
walk around the world. No, you walk He saw the way,
He saw a lot of continents.
Speaker 2 (01:02:22):
I'll give you that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:23):
Yeah, nice trip, went through Russia. Didn't get eat by
a bear.
Speaker 2 (01:02:26):
Right right? Just saying or put in a prison or
putting a prison to gulag.
Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
Again, I'm taking notes.
Speaker 2 (01:02:32):
Speedy, you you hit it too.
Speaker 1 (01:02:33):
He avoided our most dangerous cities.
Speaker 2 (01:02:35):
He did, he did, and he stayed. You talk about it.
You come about a walk ending quick, try to walk
through the wrong side of Chicago or Portland.
Speaker 1 (01:02:43):
Yeah, you can't do it.
Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
Ain't no.
Speaker 1 (01:02:45):
So so we will not give him. We won't allow
him to say he walked around the world.
Speaker 2 (01:02:50):
Y'all.
Speaker 4 (01:02:51):
This is the lesson, he says. This is the lesson
that he says, take to take away from everything.
Speaker 10 (01:02:56):
Don't be it, prey. I bet it's self confidence will
take you a long way.
Speaker 13 (01:03:00):
Get up the couch, get out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Of that best.
Speaker 10 (01:03:04):
That will open the world of possible.
Speaker 2 (01:03:08):
That's my question. What are you gonna do now? And
be nice?
Speaker 1 (01:03:10):
Don't have to roof what is playing from this point?
You know, yes, he'll hang out.
Speaker 2 (01:03:15):
Okay, sit on the.
Speaker 4 (01:03:16):
Couch a little bit, can you, sir?
Speaker 1 (01:03:17):
What have you done most? You're like, well, I've walked now,
he's seen a lot of things. Yeah, that's what he's
trying to tell him. Trying to get a job. I
need a job.
Speaker 2 (01:03:25):
What do you do? Well? Well, I walked pretty good.
I walked around the world.
Speaker 4 (01:03:28):
Oh they did ask him what what he's going to
do when he gets done?
Speaker 2 (01:03:32):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
Actually quick, little uh clip here?
Speaker 6 (01:03:34):
Right?
Speaker 2 (01:03:37):
Is that what he was doing? Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:03:39):
Is that?
Speaker 2 (01:03:39):
What what do you look? You're terrible unbelievable, So this
one we're reacting Yeah, sure, Oh yeah, he's so good.
He's making daddy proud and oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
You know, I don't blame him. After all that walking,
you got to relax sometime.
Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
All right, So we've got still to come. Vox seats
pour in here. Next a Burgess Ball battle coming up.
To stay close.
Speaker 7 (01:04:11):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
The vox seats are rolling in, settling in to watch
the rest of the show. We welcome them. And a
Burgess Ball battle coming up. Two people will be selected
and they'll go head to head and we'll see if
anybody can earn their way to the wheel and then
actually get something off the wheel. We've added the new
(01:04:40):
CD are you ready, as as as a new potential
prize there. So that's a that's a hard copy and
you can get that before you leave. Yeah, I mean
if you win that today, that's right. So the money,
of course is there and some other stuff. It could
be a bundle, could be a bit, or it could
be bucks. But first of all, you got to win
the Burgess Ball battle. So welcome to all of you.
(01:05:01):
Glad that you guys are here. And Greg, I know
you went to the Jack State Kennesau State, Sure did.
Got a couple of Kinnau State. Yeah, and one from
the Hot Squad.
Speaker 2 (01:05:11):
Uh because he's ready said they might be back in
town if they beat Liberty.
Speaker 1 (01:05:15):
That's all right, okay, signal because for the jack people
are doing Yeah, yeah, I got that's right. So it
was an owl versus a game.
Speaker 2 (01:05:29):
And then the game calls were fearing the beat.
Speaker 1 (01:05:31):
Yeah, I got you. We're fearing the beat. We're watching
the eyes.
Speaker 2 (01:05:34):
Yeah. Here, it's a good game pack.
Speaker 1 (01:05:39):
There it is. So so we'll see. How do you
say this guy's name?
Speaker 2 (01:05:46):
Guy?
Speaker 4 (01:05:53):
That's how you.
Speaker 2 (01:05:56):
The man Tommy Lenore has a little bit of a
man crush on him. Really yeah, Oh he was well,
I pulled up to Hunt and you know, their farmhouse
slash camp house, and there he is.
Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
Y'all, don't watch.
Speaker 2 (01:06:09):
I mean he goes oh, man, I love this guy.
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Y'all don't watch Triple D.
Speaker 2 (01:06:12):
I don't care not about watch. I will say this.
It is pretty cool him around and and all these
people that you know shifts and have specialties for he
goes back there and and they make what they're known
for and he tries it, and then they talk to
people in the restaurant about how in that city, that's
that's where.
Speaker 4 (01:06:30):
You go drive ins, diners, and dives. Ye, Triple that's
why I call it triple D because.
Speaker 1 (01:06:35):
You're saying his name is Fieri. Fieri, Gods dived Duncan
guy Fieri.
Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
Yeah, fiery if he stopped to.
Speaker 1 (01:06:44):
Yeah, apparently he does not do squats.
Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
It's quad exploded.
Speaker 4 (01:06:52):
Oh no, did it?
Speaker 2 (01:06:53):
Said?
Speaker 1 (01:06:53):
His quad exploded mid shoot, keeping him in a wheelchair
for eight weeks. Ooh uh, he said, I slipped down
a set of steps. One foot went forward, the other
foot got caught on the threshold.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
It extended me out a look like I was probably.
Speaker 1 (01:07:12):
Doing the splits. But when my right leg compressed into
itself the giveaway point. And the doctor says he's never seen,
you know, in twenty years a tear this big in
the thickest part of your quad.
Speaker 2 (01:07:23):
Yeah, almost out my quad win in half.
Speaker 1 (01:07:27):
Yeah sounds like what happened to Todd.
Speaker 2 (01:07:29):
Yes, it sounds very simpah, yeah, very similar. So so
eight weeks in a wheelchair, My goodness, that's not good.
But I'm that last time. If he knows about that, Yeah,
it's that gonna worry time. He went hold my mic. Yeah,
so I don't know what to do with himself.
Speaker 1 (01:07:45):
But you know what if if all you do is
go to places and eat, then they just feed you
in the wheelchair.
Speaker 2 (01:07:51):
I means tough to get the wheelchair back in the
kitchen milk.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
You know good, You don't like, you don't make it
living like saying, hey, you know I'm I play basketball
and the film.
Speaker 2 (01:08:00):
You still got to get around, You can't come on,
what do you do to travel around a restaurant? Sit down?
But you're traveling, you're getting out. You want to see
people of the of the of the city. You talk
to people in the restaurant. Roll your wheelchair over there. Yeah,
and then you got to get back in the kitchen,
which is where the chef is and normally it's the
owner that's been there and and they've got this amazing
(01:08:22):
dish that he makes and he's like, Okay.
Speaker 1 (01:08:24):
You're being very I mean you well, Tommy made me like, listen,
there's people out there right now who live their lives
in a wheelchair and you're acting like they can't do it.
Speaker 2 (01:08:32):
No, I did not. You're acting like it's no big deal.
And it I mean, you tell a wheelchair in picture that, no,
it's I would push you around a little bit.
Speaker 9 (01:08:40):
No.
Speaker 1 (01:08:41):
That gives you an incline in life, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (01:08:44):
But if you had to use the bathroom. Y'all be
in his stall because y'all don't care. Because I was
gonna say, oh, you use a handicap.
Speaker 11 (01:08:49):
Y will and it's handy capable, speedy, it's not handy capped.
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
Thank you, handy capable.
Speaker 1 (01:08:54):
And if there's nobody around that needs it, you're.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Free to use it.
Speaker 4 (01:08:57):
Yes, I don't think that's the rule.
Speaker 1 (01:08:59):
That is absolutely the room. Check on it.
Speaker 2 (01:09:01):
He's always standing in the kitchen. He can't. Yeah, so
he's sitting in the kitchen. Every in our kitchen like, oh,
that's a great dish. Yeah, what's wrong with that? What's
wrong with that? And look, it was just eight weeks
he can stand up eight wings right here. You're the
you're the chef, and I'm like, wow, that's amazing. What's
(01:09:26):
at the table now? You're just sitting at a table?
What's wrong with that?
Speaker 1 (01:09:31):
I mean a little lower in the table, I'll give
you that, but not really, I mean in the You
have never been in a kitchen that has a table
in it? People sending it?
Speaker 2 (01:09:40):
Oh, what was? Kitchens are pretty small. I don't eat
standing up, by the way, I can't stand that. You
stand there and make find that picture.
Speaker 1 (01:09:48):
You know, that's my probable with the food truck if
it doesn't have tables outside.
Speaker 2 (01:09:52):
Why are they saying he don't eat eggs?
Speaker 4 (01:09:55):
Is that is that true?
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
I mean I've seen meat, an egg on staying egg Greg,
we're gonna find We're gonna look, We're gonna find that
that eggs are good for your quads.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
And yeah, that's what he'll rethink that one.
Speaker 11 (01:10:08):
But he does a lot of charity work and he's
a good guy and a lot of people. You know, hey,
people people make fun of him because he's got the
spiky hair and the flamey shirts.
Speaker 4 (01:10:18):
I love, I love. Some people hate on him. But
all he really did was follow his dreams.
Speaker 2 (01:10:27):
Yeah he did. Maybe him and the walking guy and
get together. Hey, don't everyone to walk around the world
and eat. But he ain't gonna walk anywhere. He's gonna
be the one that he's pushing. Well, he's pushing a
card and you just push a guy. Don't watch the
show hungry say that? Do not? Yeah, you'll be starving.
You want to just walk around and eat something? What
was that thing we watched last night? A little disappointed?
(01:10:48):
He was a little too free for Yeah, this this
guy goes out and catches fish and stuff while eating
while there was a line up, and he kept it
wrong bother he did.
Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
He went to a lot of trouble, catch a lot of
fish and only cook thettle bit of it and ate
the tune of.
Speaker 4 (01:11:01):
Wrong man wild man eats wild. He said, this guy's
fruit frough.
Speaker 2 (01:11:06):
Yeah, well when he cooks the meal, the two of you,
anybody cooling, y'all's work here.
Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
Let me finish when I'm not saying that. When he
goes out.
Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
And saw the fishing part, we didn't see that.
Speaker 1 (01:11:15):
When he goes out and gets the game and does
the fish and whatever, I have no, No, that was
all great. He was good fisherman all that. When they
brought all this wonderful fish in from this island, Greg
and I thought we about to see a meal. He
caught a bunch of and when he was prepared the
meal other than the snapper. When he prepared the meal,
it was almost like something you would get it like
a five star restaurant. I thought it was a little
(01:11:36):
more campsidy.
Speaker 2 (01:11:39):
Got it.
Speaker 1 (01:11:40):
Yeah, it was a little fancy, I know. Not he's
not friend, yeah, yeah, he uh, he's.
Speaker 4 (01:11:47):
I like it wrong, by the way, I'll do I'll
do that.
Speaker 2 (01:11:51):
The only thing that he cooked was the snapper. Everything
else was wrong. Nice.
Speaker 4 (01:11:56):
What's the weirdest thing y'all have eating?
Speaker 2 (01:11:58):
Uh and known it?
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
Crow?
Speaker 2 (01:12:02):
Yeah? Yeah? Oh yeah, we had a dog. Yeah, they
gave me the high quarters.
Speaker 1 (01:12:11):
Well, I ate a big swamp rattri.
Speaker 4 (01:12:13):
That's a big ran.
Speaker 1 (01:12:15):
So let me ask you this, what's a bigger step?
Eating the kuti or the nutria. That's that's a class.
That's a clash of the titans.
Speaker 11 (01:12:21):
Right there is the nutrient meat dark darktria.
Speaker 2 (01:12:25):
This means a big old rat. Yeah, smothered and dell sauce.
It's just meat.
Speaker 4 (01:12:30):
Oh it's it's red meat.
Speaker 11 (01:12:32):
Oh wow, buddy, that's a rat on a grill right there.
Speaker 2 (01:12:35):
Yes it is wow. Yes, I didn't mean to ye. Yes,
it is trick. I'm so glad I couldn't see see it.
You know what I mean? Before we well, Larry and Mark.
Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
If had not been for them, I think I would
have a pretty tame Yeah, that's how they were EXPERI
responding that they took me to places I didn't want
to go.
Speaker 2 (01:12:52):
Oh, mystery meat. If y'all don't know, we had to
taste the meat and then say what we thought it was,
and then they would reveal, now, this is what y'all
just ate. And that was one of those times.
Speaker 1 (01:13:04):
Yeah, and you and for some reason, I will tell
it works two ways. You will eat more things if
you don't know what it is, so you don't have
to work through it mentally. Yeah, but after it's gone,
finding out steals a bit of a mine.
Speaker 2 (01:13:18):
Yeah, trap there. Yeah. Yeah. Oh I ate beaver sausage too.
Oh well, we did eat that beaver man. It was
gross compared to faudi and neutral. I like to think
about some old teeth. We'll be right back.
Speaker 7 (01:13:29):
Yeah, this is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (01:13:38):
Speaking of effort.
Speaker 1 (01:13:39):
Everybody's talking about it, Oh, number thirty eight, Elijah Clark
video nine, Edler the Cowboys, which oh this is I mean,
the Cowboys they're not like owning it, but they're they're okay,
they're playing better.
Speaker 2 (01:13:53):
That they are gotta okay, great comeback for the Eagles
being twenty one. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:13:58):
So, but everybody's talking about Oath eight because you know,
if you've ever yeah, I don't know if I've ever
mentioned it, and I don't talk about it much, but
I played a little ball, yes, yeah, little football, you know,
real sport. But you yeah so I was. But one
of the things, you know, if you've ever.
Speaker 2 (01:14:15):
Coached a little or played a little what do we
always say.
Speaker 1 (01:14:18):
We can have all the strategy, we can have all
the strength programs with the conditioning programs, and we can
tell you the one thing you can't coach is effort.
I can't make you. I can't make you want it.
I can't make you. I can't make you give effort.
And how about this. Anybody can give effort. Anybody doesn't
require any expertise, doesn't require any any talent. I mean,
everybody can play hard. Okay, now this guy is very
(01:14:41):
athletic and place but watch watch the effort.
Speaker 2 (01:14:44):
You think you want to be a gunner in the NFL,
I do not. That's not knocked on his can and
most still gets up. And he's the one that calls
the fumble that turned the ball.
Speaker 1 (01:14:54):
This is why you never give stop you again. Yeah,
he's up, still going. Nobody can stop me. I'm moving now,
I'm moving to the ball, moving to the ball. And
and I caused the phone loose ball. That's look at
that didn't start Most people stop right there.
Speaker 11 (01:15:10):
Yeah, and then okay, I would stop right then, right,
but he kept going.
Speaker 2 (01:15:14):
So you would have stopped on the second one, not
the first one.
Speaker 4 (01:15:16):
Yeah, not the first The seconde said okay, you win.
Speaker 1 (01:15:18):
Because that first one look at that and got down
there and made the play and.
Speaker 2 (01:15:22):
Cast a turnover it.
Speaker 1 (01:15:23):
Yes, indeed, I mean too many people that they won't run,
they won't play like that in life, right they just
how about that.
Speaker 2 (01:15:30):
I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:15:30):
I can't make you want it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:31):
I can't. I can't make you play hard. Yeah, I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:15:34):
I can't do it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:35):
Nod to or or example video to show somebody if
I could do it for you, I would.
Speaker 4 (01:15:41):
Did y'all mention he was an undrafted free agent.
Speaker 1 (01:15:43):
I did not nice story.
Speaker 4 (01:15:44):
There you go.
Speaker 2 (01:15:46):
You're playing hard, that's it. Yeah, gunners really, that's that's
tough one. That's tough. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:15:53):
And then then you know one of the things that
we've talked about on the show before that the only
thing wouldn't a gunner, but it was in the punt
and you saw the end of that. Is why Mom
was never all that vocal to dad, except for one thing.
You know, she didn't have to worry about. Oh, seventy five.
I don't think anybody's gonna put seventy five back to
catch punt. Okay, so maybe they should have a couple
of times I could have done it. Yeah, but uh,
(01:16:14):
you know, you usually don't look at seventy five and say,
let's let's put him back for the punt. Now, I
don't have but thirty one over there, baby brother defensive.
Speaker 2 (01:16:21):
Back, defensive back to will catch punts?
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Yeah, and she told dad none, none of my sons
are gonna catch punts.
Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
Yeah. I can't. I can't.
Speaker 1 (01:16:28):
I can't sit in the stands.
Speaker 2 (01:16:30):
And watch that. Yeah, that boll's there and you're just
like here they come? Would you? And then if you,
if you're here, catch too earlier? But I hate you.
Speaker 1 (01:16:37):
Yeah, you know, if you'll try to make a play,
that is a terrible job. Oh and then look where
you get because you can't take your off the ball.
But you got to see you everybody. Oh yeah, so
kick off not so bad. You can drop it in
and pick it up.
Speaker 2 (01:16:47):
Yeah, I was. I was a long snapper, but then
you ought to really love that play. I did. Like
the long snapper is the one that recovered the fund.
He did number forty four, You think seventy five wouldn't
have been on it. I don't know got come by.
Speaker 1 (01:17:00):
You think I didn't snap and come out. That's I
came out there like a like like secretariat, like somebody
didn't turn me loose out of the gate. No, honestly,
you know, because football's changed so much and explains a
lot why some of us who played before they cared
about everybody's health. When I played, the center was not.
Speaker 2 (01:17:17):
Protected at all.
Speaker 1 (01:17:19):
So you just gonna put somebody right on the center
while you're looking through your legs.
Speaker 2 (01:17:22):
Might just kill you. Yeah, I mean it was.
Speaker 1 (01:17:25):
They Now the center is uncovered, but in those days,
and that's why you and they would teach it because
they I mean they they could just kill you.
Speaker 2 (01:17:34):
And so they would teach it.
Speaker 1 (01:17:35):
Like if you were snapping, you had to learn how
to go through and get your head up because I
mean they're coming. You weren't protected. Just run down the
field with nobody in front of you, and you had
you had a big old fella that got on you
and tried to break your will to have a good snap,
and it was it was rough.
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
Verse seventy five never had a problem, But I mean
it was.
Speaker 1 (01:17:53):
It was yeah, he remembers it right, but no, you
know what I do remember, I'll get the side.
Speaker 2 (01:18:01):
I'll get the side.
Speaker 1 (01:18:02):
For some reason, I never had a bad experience on
a punt, but I remember for some reason, because everybody's
so much in tight Phil goes and extra points, it
would be just mass hysteria. All I could do was
just try to get the snap off and then I
was just just it was just destroyed. I mean, people
would just kill you. They're just bodies falling everywhere in there.
(01:18:23):
Stand on your back, you let your own team standing
on you. Nobody, nobody sees you. And but that's uh yeah,
that and Blake when he played, he was the upback
for the punt. He said, Dad, he said, he said,
he said one of them when he said, I don't
know what it was. It was some guy for Florida.
(01:18:43):
He goes and to this day, I don't know what
he was doing because he never got there.
Speaker 2 (01:18:47):
But he was.
Speaker 1 (01:18:47):
Willing to every single punt. Of course, that was the
year that Auburn went from like whin the national championship.
Then they were mediocre, then they were horrible. And he said,
so on the horrible year, we punted a lot because
we never could get a first down. And he's he said,
there was a guy from Florida, and he would just
come at me as hard as he could come at me,
and just hit me as hard as he possibly could.
Speaker 2 (01:19:08):
Just helmet to helmet.
Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
Because that was for all that, over and over and over,
and he goes, he goes out, he goes. At one point,
I thought I had a full concussion. He goes, and
he goes on the top top. My nose was bleeding
from my helmet hitting down on me, he said, And
I had to stop him. He came every time, every
time the line screen.
Speaker 2 (01:19:24):
Yeah, sure, so that's that was it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:28):
That's a that's a that's a good effort right there.
Speaker 2 (01:19:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (01:19:31):
Those NFL players are so keyed in and they move
all together. It looks like a school of fish moving
across the field.
Speaker 4 (01:19:37):
Like the way they move together.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
The speed of the highest level of football, it's mind blowing.
Speaker 2 (01:19:43):
His mind blowing. The size, speed and strength.
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
If you ever stand down there and get close to it,
you really can't believe anyone survives it.
Speaker 2 (01:19:51):
We'll be back.
Speaker 7 (01:19:52):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 1 (01:20:08):
All right, America, Let's open them up all ten lines
are available, and we'll roll through those in real time.
The only thing between you and US air waves and opportunity.
Uh yeah, so fire up the number eight eight eight,
the number six big box.
Speaker 2 (01:20:27):
Why is it the most dangerous ten minutes in radio?
Speaker 1 (01:20:30):
What I just said, We've got to make decisions about
you in real time. It's a little different than knowing

Speaker 1 (01:23:42):
I asked your daughter Chandler, has she heard the hypopa stuff?
Speaker 2 (01:23:46):
She has not.
Speaker 1 (01:23:47):
And when I started saying, they got to laughing really hard.
I said, I said, even the listeners are doing it now.
And what I had to yeah, had one. Taylor really
wants you wear hat. And by the way, he said,
he gave you a hat to give to me and
you didn't do it.
Speaker 2 (01:23:59):
Na I I cap it. Yeah, well great, that's not
giving it to me. That's not giving it to you.
It was for your advisor. He give it that to
borrow to get to me?
Speaker 8 (01:24:10):
What for years to have I give Advisor Advisor like Advisor, guys, I.
Speaker 2 (01:24:15):

Speaker 2 (01:24:36):
Uh? Rick Birders show on screen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 12 (01:24:40):
Hey, I just wanted to tell Greg I have the
same aversion to Indian food. I've been wanting to call
for a couple of weeks about this. But Palmhowers has
a non bread shrimp Poe Boy. That is a safe
way to try non bread, and it's delicious. And you
get the Indian without the you you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:25:02):
You know what you mean? You don't have any bread.
Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
But it's called nine yes call, Yeah, you said, did
you get that without bread?
Speaker 2 (01:25:09):
No, that's not a subject. It's a type of bread. Okay,
it's good, good and good for you. That's good. It's good,
good and good for you. Okay, it's not good for you,
but it's good. It's good. None do you always go garlic?
Or you ever a plane?
Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
I like garlic? Like plane is all good?
Speaker 2 (01:25:26):
I like the plane better.
Speaker 4 (01:25:28):
I'm non discriminating.
Speaker 2 (01:25:30):
I haven't nine eight nine We continue Rick Birders Show,
unscreen phone calls, Go ahead.
Speaker 9 (01:25:37):
Papa, why are you no like Bangkok?
Speaker 2 (01:25:43):
Nope? Hey? Rick Birders Show on screen.
Speaker 6 (01:25:47):
Phone calls, Hey, if I don't see any dinner at
my home, glove here is this weekend?
Speaker 9 (01:25:53):
I might you might be seeing me on camera at all?
Speaker 2 (01:25:57):
Right?
Speaker 1 (01:25:57):
Oh, I had a feeling, shouldn't Rick Burgers Show on
screen phone calls, Go ahead, a little early in the season
to have been hot to.
Speaker 13 (01:26:07):
Hey, I got something, I got something speed.
Speaker 2 (01:26:13):
Look a look at his reactions. Let me tell you something.
You got a pretty good series. Go but you you
you got to get a new act.
Speaker 1 (01:26:24):
You come up with some other lines that one you
run that Rick Birgers show.
Speaker 2 (01:26:32):
Go ahead.
Speaker 13 (01:26:34):
Hey, So where you guys at on showing up to
your family thanks Giving get together? Wherever that might be.
And it's kind of like a pot luck deal. Everybody
is like been told to bring some kind of dish.
Nobody's given any kind of clear instruction on you know
what they need, just bring whatever you want and you
find out what everybody else is bringing and you don't
(01:26:54):
really think that you're going to add anything to the pot.
You know, you're happy with everything there and you just
slip in without bringing anything.
Speaker 2 (01:27:02):
Is that?
Speaker 13 (01:27:02):
Is that a foul?
Speaker 2 (01:27:04):
Not to me?
Speaker 4 (01:27:04):
Smart?
Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
Not to me? To me?
Speaker 1 (01:27:06):
You can overdo it, you know, if it's covered like
you just said, and the meals covered.
Speaker 2 (01:27:10):
What I mean, what good is it?
Speaker 1 (01:27:12):
Because you know what you could be and it's always
awkward the person that brings something that nobody wants and now.
Speaker 2 (01:27:17):
Everybody feels everybody feels obligated.
Speaker 1 (01:27:20):
And yeah, everybody feels obligated at least spoon a few
things out of it. So what you're doing.
Speaker 2 (01:27:24):
You're talking about the congeals out. Yeah, so what you're
doing is actually you're being nice.
Speaker 1 (01:27:28):
You don't want to you don't want your family to
uncomfortably feel guilted into eating what you're bringing.
Speaker 2 (01:27:34):
Because it's all covered. Only y'all could spin it that way.
Speaker 1 (01:27:36):
Yeah, that feeds some of it to the dog, right, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:27:40):
It's a good spin.
Speaker 2 (01:27:41):
Well what's wrong for that? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:27:42):
I mean I don't like the idea of pot luck.
I want everybody to be assigned something so we know
what the meal is.
Speaker 2 (01:27:47):
That's good.
Speaker 1 (01:27:47):
But if we don't end up nobody brings dressing because
it's too big of a hassle. Yeah, I mean we
have to have You can't have that kind of random
bring whatever.
Speaker 2 (01:27:56):
Thanksgiving, somebody shows up with shells and they'll be no, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:28:00):
And then there's that person that wants to bring something healthy. Yeah,
I'm gonna bring a vegetable tray out that Greg, Greg
cole broccoli slid all right, all right, let's dip and ring.
That's great. Thank you for the raw vegetable plate. The
pilgrims wouldn't even eat this, you know. So yeah, I
(01:28:22):
mean you know, to me, thanksgive us not the time
to try to make some statement.
Speaker 2 (01:28:26):
No, we eat food, and then we.
Speaker 1 (01:28:28):
Had food, and then we eat it again on Friday,
and then we get maybe somewhere around Monday, you start saying, welcome.
Speaker 2 (01:28:34):
I gotta do better. Yeah. You can breathe right right
all right, time of the hour. If you're leaving us,
don't forget.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
You can grab anything that you missed today on the
daily archive all five hours from the show, either on
the YouTube channel or our podcast channel. Is there any
way to keep your if you do what this idiot
did that works for Campbell's. I keep seeing the headline.
Speaker 2 (01:29:04):
I'm not sure about that. He was called or audio
Campbell's soup. Everybody remember campbell soup. I grew up on
campbell soup. You know, it's memory is real picky. So
whatever mom made that I didn't like, I got soup good.
I remember that. That's what campbell soup?
Speaker 4 (01:29:19):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:29:20):
Good?
Speaker 2 (01:29:21):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
So oh little Greg chicken noodle? You think he wouldn't
eat chicken noodle? And then if he was, he was
filling the little edgy chicken rice.
Speaker 2 (01:29:27):
That's right. Nothing else. I don't know how many cans
of that stuff I saw you eat. Oh I loved good, gracious,
I wouldn't need a lot.
Speaker 1 (01:29:34):
Well, Greg, Apparently, according to one of the employees, that
just shows that we were poor. We have we have
someone that got recorded not good, nothing worse than a
hot Mike vice president wouldn't something. Guy on the line, now,
this is Robert Garza of Michigan, filed a lawsuit against
(01:29:59):
Campbell's on Thursday and released audio he says featured vice
president and chief information Security Officer Martin Bally or Bally.
Speaker 2 (01:30:11):
Went with Bally.
Speaker 1 (01:30:11):
But anyway, he if I was, if he was, if
I was, Uh, he provided the damaging recording. I will
have to just we can't play it.
Speaker 2 (01:30:22):
The language.
Speaker 1 (01:30:24):
But anyway, he even bring it up. No, no, I'm
gonna I'm gonna tell you what it says. I'm going
to tell you, Greg, I'm just not gonna put the
words in there covert, you said, young Jackson.
Speaker 2 (01:30:34):
I don't need to hear that.
Speaker 1 (01:30:36):
So anyway, in the audio, now picture this Greg, the
person that he claims is saying this. I want to
run this title again. Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer. Okay,
he's not very secure.
Speaker 2 (01:30:48):
He is.
Speaker 1 (01:30:49):
He is recorded on audio saying, we have the S
word for the F word. Poor people who buy our
S word. I don't buy Campbell's products barely anymore. It's
not healthy now and I know what the blank is
in it.
Speaker 2 (01:31:08):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:31:09):
So basically, our horrible food is served to horrible poor
people and uh and it's not good for it, it's
not and it's made with terrible things and uh and
all we do is is.
Speaker 2 (01:31:19):
Give bad food to poor people. Oh wow, that's the paraphrase.
And let me tell you.
Speaker 1 (01:31:24):
I'm gonna say it gets fired, don't. I don't think
you can survive that one. No, I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
That comment is going to hurt the bottom line. Yeah,
that's a good one. Yeah, remember when you had that
real good job. Yeah, Gampbells had a great title.
Speaker 1 (01:31:42):
Great they did say, though a party erupted over at
chunky suit, progress quit talking about. They were even tempted
to eat it with a fork. But they use the
spoon to get I have moved to progress. As far
as soup, so have you.
Speaker 2 (01:31:57):
What is that I've never heard of that? Oh? Is
that they got good stuff? One of their CEOs blabs
about it. I don't know, Maybe they don't.
Speaker 1 (01:32:03):
Yeah, I would tell you a soup that I'm kind
of enjoying now, but I'm afraid it will cost me.
Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
I'll get on a little bit. NA was about, I'll
get back to breakfast. What's gonna make you look like?
Speaker 1 (01:32:12):
Uh huh, oh, I got it's it's the company comes from.
Speaker 2 (01:32:16):
What's the name of the company. I'd rather not say
what's the name. I don't want to talk about what it's. No,
it's unacceptable, Okay. A matter of fact, I've stopped. It
called fruit. Fruit stopped because of that. I stopped because
I couldn't face it.
Speaker 1 (01:32:29):
I thought, if somebody gets a picture of me eating
this I've had, does it start with it's it's beenerve
bread and uh oh.
Speaker 2 (01:32:36):
They got those suits and get their soups in the stores.
See that's okay.
Speaker 1 (01:32:40):
We see all the women in here nod and they're like, oh,
that sounds great. And then every guy in here said,
I please, I hope he didn't eat that.
Speaker 2 (01:32:46):
Yeah, especially chili. You just hurt his feeling. Chili. You
know what I mean? You know what he said, He
said the same, only that's one of the similarities. Stuff.
Speaker 1 (01:32:55):
I stopped, Chili, I stopped. Okay, it was it was
some mom by that, yes you does. And then somehow
and then as turned on it did Yeah, she turned
on it. I think she's back.
Speaker 4 (01:33:04):
Oh yeah, okay, you'll remember a hungry man.
Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
Oh yeah, man, or when my man is hungry? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:33:12):
Was it was chunky soup, the one that did all
the NFL thing when they were with their mamas.
Speaker 2 (01:33:16):
Is that chunky?
Speaker 5 (01:33:16):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:33:17):
But that is actually campbell Chunkies.
Speaker 2 (01:33:18):
Is that Campbell's too?
Speaker 4 (01:33:19):
Yeah, but that's a good zoo it is, so I'm
a soup man. I love soup.
Speaker 1 (01:33:24):
Oh so really, this guy's statement would be about chunky
soup too, So no party for them.
Speaker 2 (01:33:28):
It's all Campbell's. I'm not sure what you wanted to
refer here.
Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
Yeah, well, he says great, he knows that they have
in them and it's it's for poor people and they
buy it because they're because they're poor. I don't buy
any of this stuff because I know the garbage.
Speaker 2 (01:33:41):
Just sent it. But he didn't say garbage.
Speaker 4 (01:33:43):
That explains why I bought some last week.
Speaker 1 (01:33:46):
Yeah, you know, it's been I will say it's been
a long time since I've just sat down and had
little Campbell's soup. But I've eaten a bunch of it
in my life.
Speaker 2 (01:33:54):
Oh yeah, yeah, but it's kind of felt safe when
I I loved it.
Speaker 1 (01:33:59):
Not anymore Campbell's.
Speaker 11 (01:34:00):
And I know you're gonna hate on it, but the
split pea it's good with a grilled cheese sand with
if I was starving.
Speaker 2 (01:34:12):
What there's no way.
Speaker 4 (01:34:16):
Corner something?
Speaker 6 (01:34:17):
I know?
Speaker 2 (01:34:17):
Greg weird, right, Greg, you've doubled down on this.
Speaker 4 (01:34:21):
We know the iguana story.
Speaker 2 (01:34:23):
Greg, for some reason keeps trying to get you to
buy into split piece and it's it's a road to
nowhere at.
Speaker 4 (01:34:31):
The grilled cheese sandwich is so good.
Speaker 1 (01:34:33):
If you're gonna have a if you're gonna have a
grilled cheese, you're you're either with chili or tomato soup. Yeah,
you don't eat split pea soup tomato.
Speaker 11 (01:34:44):
I'm not a tomato soup ketchup, I mean a bowl
of ketchup. I didn't sell tomato soup out.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
I didn't.
Speaker 1 (01:34:48):
I'm not either. I'm not a huge fan of tomato soup.
But I do know that a grilled cheese and tomato
soup is pretty well known.
Speaker 4 (01:34:54):
I know it's well known.
Speaker 1 (01:34:55):
I I would rather have a grilled cheese with chili.
Uh that's I don't really care for tomato soup either.
Speaker 4 (01:35:01):
I don't know if I've done that.
Speaker 2 (01:35:02):
Not a big fan of vegetable soup. There is a
city Ravioli with the grilled cheese is good too. Got
a soup I won't eat can? I won't eat chili?
I can? No, you gotta make it?
Speaker 1 (01:35:16):
Yeah no, I remember and a little bit when we
lived in that trailer you we were starving. We were
starving as in college, I ate so much hormi so much.
I remember the doctor saying, I don't know what you're eating,
but please don't right right, yeah, I mean.
Speaker 2 (01:35:33):
We we just we just said, we just sent it
upper g I. We can't even get the berry milkshake
to come down. What have you done your stomach? You
know our famous meal when we were trapped, you won't
even we can't even see.
Speaker 1 (01:35:45):
When we were in college, our favorite meal was ground
hamburger made and barbecue sauce.
Speaker 2 (01:35:49):
Oh yeah, that had that some trailer smelling good did
for a second, going straight to Flavor Town still one
of my favorite trailer moments ever, other than Bulldog and
You're Knocking you out?
Speaker 1 (01:36:01):
Yeah, that was That's my favorite. But my second favorite
was when when Greg when still man that frozen laz Onion.
I was rare to have something good, like.
Speaker 8 (01:36:15):
Something good like that frozen Lazagnian and he was getting
warm and he had it, and would we would we
would turn chairs around and make him into the TV train.
Speaker 1 (01:36:25):
Yeah, you know, just take a chair out of the kitchen,
turning around set and.
Speaker 2 (01:36:31):
He was so excited. They keive in mind our carpet,
our carpet, like like the CDC would come and shut
the whole thing down.
Speaker 1 (01:36:38):
They could every stuff they couldn't identify, They couldn't even so,
so it's it's not a good carpet, okay. And then Greg,
he had it sitting right there in front of the
TV Red watched ball game, and I came in and
grabbed a chair, like he didn't realize.
Speaker 2 (01:36:50):
Then he grabbed a chair trying to be sharp. It
shot my thinking. Lasagna upside down on that shag carpet go.
Speaker 1 (01:37:01):
And then from that point on him and the other
guys that lived with us, they would they would bring
it back up, but.
Speaker 2 (01:37:12):
Before you get it and take a bite. Yeah, you'd
work so hard.
Speaker 1 (01:37:16):
And I scraped a little out of it, but it
wouldn't couldn't listen.
Speaker 2 (01:37:21):
My favorite statement about that is Greg referred to frozen
lasagna out of a freezer. I mean you finally have
something good. Hey, that was considered real.
Speaker 1 (01:37:30):
It was you know what you said, we can't anything
nice noes and eat all of them the first night.
Speaker 7 (01:37:37):
This is the Rick Burger's show.
Speaker 2 (01:37:45):
Speedy, I guess you saw it firsthand. I did, and
I was so uncomfortable saw it firsthand. Y'all say that
I'm an over Greeter, this one here in the lobby
with sweet two hundred. It's insane. It makes you uncomfort good.
Speaker 1 (01:38:03):
He just assumes everyone's looking sweet too. You're close to ride.
Most of the they all have that loss.
Speaker 2 (01:38:10):
What did you just see? Well, you got a guy
getting off the elevator. I let him. Okay, he gets
off into the lobby and then he gets two blocked
like didn't know what door to go to, of course,
and he goes, well, watch this, I get to help
somebody and he and he says, hey. The guy turns
around and goes, well, how do you get out of here?
And I'm thinking, well, that's not good. It's right there,
good night, look it right? And and then and then
(01:38:32):
Ricky was strike trying to thank him for his service.
And I'm like, buddy, Ricky, why are you thanking somebody
for your service?
Speaker 1 (01:38:39):
He's just coming down one of the many, one of
the many things, and sweet to your service, some of
them veteran benefits. And and you know what you made
you not for the guy thanked me for He said
that I was the one that helped him find it.
Speaker 2 (01:38:52):
The last thing. Yeah, he did not thank me, Yes,
what did he he thanked you, thank you, thank you?
Speaker 1 (01:39:01):
What is Thursday?
Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Thanksgiving Day? Struggles with his It felt good helping a veteran. Yeah,
it did, but it's very uncomfortable. I mean I don't
know what to do. And I was with him, all right,
he'll come in hot. He scared him, startled the guy.
He started, he saw me. You need to let somebody
see you first. When he saw me, I let him
(01:39:25):
work it out. He began, Yeah, there's a shock.
Speaker 9 (01:39:27):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (01:39:28):
When he saw me laying on the floor, Yeah, like
you work it out.
Speaker 1 (01:39:32):
Greg, Greg, who think, goodness, you're not in the middle
of the floor, so I can just step around the uh.
But no, when he saw me.
Speaker 2 (01:39:40):
He oozed gratitude. Yeah, oh I bet he did it.
Probably thought here that guy comes again. I mean we
were yoking it up there for a minute, and I
was glad that he saw it.
Speaker 10 (01:39:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:39:49):
Okay, So.
Speaker 1 (01:39:53):
On that note of veterans, because you know, I love
veterans and I try to thank them all and whether their.
Speaker 2 (01:39:59):
Veterans or not.
Speaker 1 (01:39:59):
Yeah, you'll think people who looked like that, all right,
So it was funny to watch. You know, sometimes even
though except for you alert the rest of us, our
kids are all adults at some level.
Speaker 2 (01:40:10):
Yeah, okay.
Speaker 1 (01:40:11):
And it's so funny because I saw young Broderick last week.
Brody and and you know, you know we've already covered
this and you've talked about it, so we don't have
to land here. But if you have sons when they
reached this age, I don't know if what happens with
daughters with mamas, but they just take your clothes. I
mean they they just they just comment deear them as
(01:40:33):
their own. And frankly, I mean my body type and
Brodie's it's not even closing and he'll just wear too
big for him.
Speaker 2 (01:40:42):
He'll just he'll just wear by.
Speaker 1 (01:40:44):
And so all of a sudden, I'm like, wow, so
you've got you've got the hoodie on that belongs to me?
What was at camp house? I said, I said, my
camp Yeah, you know about the camp house. I pay
for it and and and he was like what was
just there? And it was the it was one of
the National Guard hoodiest that we were giving by the ARLA,
like ones by the Army National Guard.
Speaker 2 (01:41:04):
But then but but you got one you and said
thank you, but listen here here's what fuddy. All of
a sudden you had it on. And he was wearing
it and it was so funny. He had perfect delivery.
He goes, I need to ask you something. I said, Okay.
He goes, is this stolen valor?
Speaker 1 (01:41:19):
And I said, I said, I said what you mean?
He goes, I said, oh, you're your uncle Greg is
gonna he'll he'll be.
Speaker 2 (01:41:23):
The one that I said.
Speaker 1 (01:41:25):
No, they gave us those for us to promote the
Army National Guard, not to think we're part of it.
Speaker 2 (01:41:30):
Right. He goes, When I have this on, do people
think that I'm pretending to be in the Army National
I asked the guy, because they came over from Mississippi
and he's the one that gold colored. No, they were bloody,
they were black, they're gold right, No, you got one.
They were nice too. Yeah. And and I asked him,
I said, can we wear these?
Speaker 4 (01:41:49):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (01:41:49):
Yeah, these are gifted to you. You're fine, so it's
not stolen valle. Now, well, I think if you pretend,
if you like, tell people that you, if you like,
go the mall's food court and starts watering. If you
got metal zone stuff like that, bro, yes, if you
start talking about you know, did you give up one
weekend a month? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:42:05):
You did, didn't he right, and he and he said, no,
I just wear it, and I said, I'll talk to
him Greg about it.
Speaker 2 (01:42:11):
He's pumping.
Speaker 1 (01:42:12):
He must, you know, announce the people. And now, look,
I'm not a veteran.
Speaker 2 (01:42:16):
Do you have to go that farm?
Speaker 13 (01:42:17):
Now?
Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
I'm just kidding.
Speaker 1 (01:42:17):
So so I think it's okay to promote the National Guard. Right,
he's not in you he's wearing a hoodie with it
on it. Yeah, that's true, but he's not in the
Stolen Valor people that they're in full uniform normally, right,
and they will they'll have medals. And it's a weird bunch.
Speaker 2 (01:42:34):
Let me tell you something. We got hung on YouTube
watching it. I couldn't get out of it. There's two
things that Greg gloves weird shaped ears, yeah and stolen Valor. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:42:43):
I mean you are out to stop stolen Valor.
Speaker 2 (01:42:47):
And you so you couldn't watch it because when they
start calling him out on.
Speaker 1 (01:42:51):
It, how does it normally go? Do they try to
go I am yeah that oh that come out of
the gate. They'll they'll get so many questions wrong and
they'll just lock up. Some of the people that are
busting them are not happy.
Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
Yeah, no, because they actually served or half served.
Speaker 4 (01:43:08):
Yep, they got patches on the wrong.
Speaker 2 (01:43:10):
Yeah, they don't even know what they were doing.
Speaker 4 (01:43:13):
Mm hmm, I think where did you say those?
Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
In Iraq? So it's grossly uncomfortable when they when they yeah,
you need to watch it.
Speaker 4 (01:43:20):
No, here's one right here, you really. So they're at
the airport and this person's being confronted.
Speaker 2 (01:43:26):
Saying that little he's in uniform.
Speaker 4 (01:43:27):
Yep, in uniform at the airport, waiting to get on
a plane. What guy's asking him? Hey, so where did
you serve all this stuff? I ain't got no uncomfortable
and I haven't screened it for cuss words.
Speaker 1 (01:43:37):
Sorry, sorry, So you think the military cusses?
Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
Well, I don't know. I don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:43:42):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
I mean that's a strong chance.
Speaker 2 (01:43:46):
Let's just call it. Are you doing that? All right?
She said that old lady behind him checking it out.
She needs to use something here.
Speaker 4 (01:43:55):
We can't listen to a quick I just screened up
about ten seconds.
Speaker 10 (01:43:58):
So here you go.
Speaker 2 (01:44:07):
But never not funny, never, never not funny. I'm sorry,
I'm yet. There's no age on it. There's just no
it works every day every time, there's none.
Speaker 1 (01:44:18):
So sorry, So, yeah, a great guy, I will pass
I'll pass along to your nephew. You think he's clear,
but he's got honestly doesn't wear any pants that look military.
Speaker 11 (01:44:27):
Okay, speaking of which, I'm sick of Ezra, my two
year old son stealing my pants.
Speaker 4 (01:44:35):
Those are my pants, son.
Speaker 2 (01:44:36):
Put them sweats down twos. Usually your kid taking your
clothes much later.
Speaker 4 (01:44:43):
He's an early bloomer.
Speaker 2 (01:44:48):
I appreciate you for that. You're ever a bit of
man as anybody. Yeah, I'm still that steps would really help.
No better not bring me a steps to it for
christas it would be a good one though, like good,
Yeah that's different.
Speaker 4 (01:45:04):
