also I root for people because you never know what

of one full year that we've been in the Book
of Job on the Wednesday Bible study. Uh and you know,

there's so much talk about the Book of Job, and
we went we have literally gone through it word for word.
If you're like me and you look, this is bad.
But if you were in school and it was a
little tough on you, like old little young bird to
get through an entire book, and you just want somebody
to kind of give you the cript notes. Okay, wasn't
what they were called? Cliff cliff notes? What do I get? Gripped?

And you had to be careful, you had to know
what you're talking about. If you would like to say
I've always wondered exactly what's going on and trying to
understand the Book of Job, it would be more beneficial

of the book gets wrapped up today on what was
going on between God and Job and we all can
learn from it. So we finish the Book of Job today.
Job finally does what God's looking for and then God's

going to be one more Wednesday before we go on
vacation and go on our two weeks sabbatical and then
come back Lord Willing for the next year of the
Rick Burgess Show, I think we'll just do a standalone
next Wednesday. Some of the guys are saying, maybe do

something around Christmas, talk about, you know, something scripturally that
would be a sort of a Christmas theme and just
have a standalone as opposed to starting a new series
and taking two weeks off and coming back. So in
the series for twenty twenty six, Lord Willing is going
to be all the letters from Paul that he wrote

from the many times that he was in jail, So
we'll hit those coming up next year. So let's jump in.

I'm sorry, Yeah, I said, I hope I gave enough,
and uh so I just I just need to yeah,
and then my phone had some update last night and
everything's weird on my phone, my goodness. So so anyway,
but the game camera peachers are still good. Uh that's
all that matters. So, uh so this is that thing

we get obsessed with, deer hunting. Yeah, speeding. Now I
went again yesterday. The My wife even said when I
got home, she goes, I know I probably wasn't paying attention.
Are you? Are you hunting every day? And I said, well, yeah,
I mean if if possible, yeah, I mean, and she's like,

run that run that you'll buy me again. And so
so we we discussed that and you know, and it
was fine, and so so I speeding and I dashed
to try to get another hunt in yesterday. You know
all the guys are going to try to go this weekend.
Uh for where we hunt, this is a good time
to go. This is when things are happening. Okay, and

it happened again, it happened. I can't believe this. I
really can't. And Greg, I know you're a gas because
you can't believe even be possible. So I text Speedy
and I'm like, hey, man, do you have anything to eat?
Because you know we're right at lunch. He said, yeah,
I'm good, don't worry about me. I said, I'm going
to hit the drive through, grab me a burger real quick.

I'll see you at camp house. Okay, I didn't know
you would be stuck with Gary. But which is another topic.
How did he know we were? He was sitting there
in the driveway waiting on me. I know, so odd,
Like how does he know? Is he does he track us?
Is there something that Hey? You know theo's little magnets
you put under your truck tracking? Yeah? How about investigating? Yeah?
Do I have one on my truck? How about this?

I will I will say that I'm very I'm very
I want to thank Gary. That was very nice of him.
To go ahead and open up the barn, open up
the gate. I appreciate him to fix that tire too.
He did fix that tire, don't it two years? So
we got that done, so that we've had a brand
new tire for a tire that keeps going flat sitting
in the garage for two years. But but but but

you know what, when he replaced that one, right right,
but we got it done. It was great. And I
should have just done it myself because I'm handy now.
But so so I go through the dry food, I
come around and very kind. I mean, couldn't have been
a sweeter person on the planet. And I love people,
have a great attitude, I really do. She said, well, hey,

how are you doing. I said, I'm doing good. How
about yourself? Well, I'm just living my best life. And
I said, well, good for you. I'll tell you what.
I sure do miss listening to you. And I said,
I'm sorry because she never said that she knew hill
or whatever. Yeah, I just and I said I was

on today and she goes, huh where And I said, well,
for you, you know, either one O four seven w
z z K probably the best signal. I don't think
y'all would get out ninety two out of Montgomery. But
you probably cane like that. Huh what? I thought you
had just retired and was just living the life down

here at the farm. And I said, I've been working
my butt off all year. I'm like what, And I said,
we're about to go do some hunting now. Huh, Well,
how about that? Well, I guess I need to get
off Spotify. I said, we're on Spotify too, And she
just didn't know she had. How does she not know that?

Especially all the marketing house think I know the answer, right,
But this is that for show and never mentioned it. Guys,
I understand. I understand that the first ninety days. I
really do. Yeah. I mean we're about the end of year,
that's but but it shows you been listening. Yeah, it

work harder now than ever. If people die away for
just a moment and go somewhere else and get in
their mind that you're gone, they don't keep they don't

spend time talking about what we're going to do next.
But it'd been it would have been awesome if maybe

you was living the life over there at the farm.

out at the pasture.

He said, yeah, it's watching him too, deer run across
the pasture. And I'm like, well, I'm here, Gary, I'm here.
You recognize me, say hey or something. I mean, He's
just like, doesn't even reckon.

I worried about a prank or so. Oh. I know.
So I start looking.

I start looking around, and I'm thinking, what's he got
me set up for? I know, and he starts, uh,
you know. We start talking and everything, and then he
breaks down what we need to do today, you know,
talking about yesterday.

I'm gonna tell you what y'all need to do.

You know, ya ain't gonna get one unless you do this,
I know. And so we break it down and and
I said, well, you going with us? Because he looked
like and he says, no, you know, he said he
couldn't go. He said, I'll be out here though, if
you get one look okay, And I said, well, I
might might just kind of change over. I said, Rick's close.
There's a lady at the drive through. Thought he was retired,

but he's coming. He's about ten minutes away.

Why I'm out? Hell? Then he said, well, I fix
the tire. He did say that for you left.

He said, I fixed the tire and ran to the
store a couple of times. They finally got what I
needed and so it's up and running. I'm like, well
that's good. And don't take that loud one now, y'all,
don't take that loud one talking about this by side.
Oh yeah, take the one that's kind of quiet. I'm like, okay,
what I told you to get? Yep and uh.

And so then when I said I'm changing and you're clothes,
he said, I'm out. How about that? And I thought,
what is he really leaving? I know?

And then I told him, I said the other night, Gary,
I've got a long walk back to the pickup spot.
It's dark, and so you know, I'm trying not to
use the light and then I turn it on a
little bit, and if it's a clear path, I don't
I don't use it.

the from the moon.

And all of a sudden I hear something that didn't
sound like an animal or anything to my right in
the woods, and.

I turned that light on. I swung around, I said, Gary,
And Gary, he's got looking for a mirror, I said, Gary.
And now now all you see is my light hitting
the woods. He's in your head, he's in our head.
And I said, hey, I'm living in here, rent free,
I said, for about ten fifteen feet I am. I
am walking backwards because I think you're behind me. He

went he he just started. I said, so even when
you're not hear so he just thought that was the cool.
I saw every teeth he had, Gary's every two Gary's
expertise about deer. Now you know, this is Gary's view
of all things outdoors and all things road building, you know, food,

plot building, shooting, house building, anything that Gary bulldozing. Gary
he knows everything about it, and everybody else is stupid.
That's basically his point of view. Okay, nobody else knows.
And then he thinks we're all stupid. Hey, now look,
I'm telling.

You what y'all need to do is you need to
y'all need to park in Shelby County and then walk
to Chilton County and then get out there.

I mean, this is his latest thing. So you know,
you know, no matter where, if you're someone who hunts,

entertainment in this somehow about how ridiculous we are maybe,
and but you know what it's like, you know, you

camera and you're like, man, if we could just man,

And so we have been seeing, you know, some deer
that we would like consider shooters, and we're like, man,
we gotta, we gotta, we need to figure the rut
out and all that is it coming early? You get
all these legends, Hey, the rut this year is three
weeks early, and you're like, you know, and sometimes I've
heard that and it's just not true. And then it

I chuckled out loud, so I decided to turn it
up and give it a listen. As the song progressed,
I would chuckle a little, agreeing with you birds singing

somebody give the kid the dog on shoes. You and
I birds were having a blast. Then I realized that
the song was dragging me into my feelings. Yeah, but
I was in too deep to stop the song now,
so I continued listening of the little boy just wanted
his mom to look pretty when she met Jesus nights might.

I began to feel the emotion of this scene stirring
in my gut, and I even said outlined to myself,
pull it together, fifty year old man. But I'd forgotten
and I didn't know they did a version of it
that in the supergroup Alabama's version of this diabolical song.
At the end of the song, I've never heard this.

By the way, I never heard the version of it.
At the end of the song, there is a choir
of little precious children that begin to sing. Do you
hear me? There are children singing and perfect harmony. Burge,
it was too much there. I was a fifty year
old man that has been a plumber all his life. Man,

I have seen things as a plumber and done things
that will make most men wake up screaming. In the
middle of the night, driving a long wheelbase F two
fifty with all kinds of manly tools in the back,
I begin to cry over this stupid song. I can
only be thankful that I was on my way home

number and they're waiting anticipated and then they pack in

the meme was created from the song. That's not the origin.

That's not the origin of saying six seven and why
I mean I googled it. Yeah, well, okay, well here's
an idea. They may use that song for whatever. And
here's what I want all of you to understand, including
the pastor that we play in the episode, most of us,
even that are of the faith, did not want to
fool with this. Our first reaction for me was at

and even the pastor said they my kids were asking about,
said their teacher wouldn't got him do it anymore. And
I was like, I even tried to look into it,
and he said I just couldn't really find anything. And
I just said this, don't do it around me, and
he said, but then I was sent a video. Somebody said, hey,
you need to see this guy be interviewed, and then
I realized that they were interviews available. Were the guy's
telling you what he worships and he tells you what

(46:20):
he does and he goes and then that changed everything.
And I think for a lot of you, I do
appreciate those of you that said, hey, this was information.
I didn't have any agenda with this, nor did D
nor did we. But you know, the job is to
just kind of get the information and say here it is,
and then it's your job to parent. That's not our
job to parent for you. But and would never try

(46:42):
to take that role, but it's you know, in the
episode I think goes further than that, which was our
intention is just talk about We talked about this many
times and I certainly haven't done it well at times.
Parenting's hard, and grandparenting can be hard. You know, if

you in a role where you have a little more
influence or have been put in a role where you
have to kind of help beyond just being a grandparent,
you have to kind of direct and give wisdom. It
is it's not look and you never want to be
You want so much sometimes not to be the person
to come and say I hate to be a Debbie Downer,
but we just can't do this, okay. And and I

think you always have to explain it. I know, when
we stop participating in Halloween at our house, I mean
that was that was difficult. When you have a lot
of kids that you know, look around and see everybody
doing Halloween. It wasn't fun. But when we sat down
and said, let me tell you what we're trying to
avoid in Halloween and why we're trying to avoid it,
and why we don't think it's good to be immersed

in it, then they understood it, you know. And and
but you just need to be able to explain it.
I will say this, And I know we used to
laugh about this, and some of you are going to
disagree with me, and I've been guilty of it. Two,
I'm not saying that children should be given authority in
the home. They shouldn't. It's they shouldn't be the center

of the home either. However, I do think as a parent,
it's always more effective. That's a better way to say it.
It's always more effective not to use the just cause
I said so now, I know that ought to be
good enough, But I do think it's helpful to say,
let me sit down and explain to you why we
do what we do. And while we don't do what
we do and why we don't want you to do this. Uh,

that's to me. I think that's helpful.

Kids will ask why and they'll ask why, why why
and you and you got to explain it to them.
And can I give a quick quick rundown of if
you think this six seventh thing is is nothing, and
you think it's stupid, and you think it's silly that
we care that Rick did an episode of Strange Encounters
about it, let me give you my quick history of

my experience with six seven.

I am waiting.

Outside my daughter's school and she's in kindergarten, so there
are fifth graders all the way, you know, all the
way up to fifth graders in this area, the older kids.

I will never forget it.

It was just the weirdest thing ever.

I'm just standing there waiting, and then kids all around me,
fourth fifth graders, the older kids at the school are
screaming sex seven.

They're just screaming it.

I'm like, what is happening? This is very weird.

Speaker 8 (49:19):
And so that was months ago. And then you know,
being around older kids, you hear things and you copy them.
So then my daughter starts doing it, and she starts
saying it, and I said you know what, We're not
going to do that. You don't know what it means.
So you shouldn't just be screaming something that you don't
know what it means. And guys, yesterday in my kitchen,

(49:42):
and so I don't allow that in my home. And
so Ruby has not been doing that a lot around
my two year old son. My two year old son
also goes to daycare, so he's around other two year olds.
Those two year olds have siblings, their siblings are screaming
six seven. Yesterday last night in my kitchen, my kid,

my two year old son, was started started doing it
on his own.

Ruby had not been doing it. It had not been done.

Speaker 8 (50:09):
And so that to me right there, it just shows
you how impressionable children are. That alone, That alone, children
are impressionable.

That's it.

And they'll do anything, and they'll say anything, they'll follow
any kind of trend. That's just that alone is an
example of how you need to guide and protect your children.
And I even saw it in the way that my
kids are counting like one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten.
It's a distraction, it's a it clouds your mind. It's

(50:41):
a way that clouds your mind. And makes you. It
makes you stupid. Just the fact that it can make
you stupid. It's going to cloud the way that you
think about numbers for the rest of your life if
you continue to make this a pattern in the way
that you think and speak. So let's not do that.
It doesn't make sense. We don't know why we're doing it,
So don't do that. That's the speech that I had
to give my five year old and my two year

old last night. So that's the if you don't think
it's a big deal when it comes to the spiritual
side of things, it can also just cloud your child's
mind and them disrupting and putting some kind of weird
pattern in their mind.

Does that make sense?

It's so take the spirit if you don't care about
the spiritual part of it. And so, by the way,
it's just weird. It's just it's just odd. I have
a funny quick story about Ezra. I'm driving yesterday. It's
silent in my car for two minutes, and Ezra goes
because I had told him that he can't have scissors yet,
like weeks ago. Weeks ago, I told him you can't
have scissors yet, And we're just driving listening to Christmas music,

just so funny how weeks ago we had that.
