(02:08):
Greg Adler all here, ready to go. We are full
of Christmas cheer. Uh, and excited to celebrate what has
been uh well, a year to remember. Yeah, a year
to remember. Uh it has a boy, We've we've had
our ups, we've had our downs, We've had it's been

(02:29):
a lot of work. We've been kind to, you know,
find that perfect balance of respecting and celebrating the past
while enjoying the present and preparing for the future. It's
it's been. It has not been an easy task, but
it has been worth it. It has and we have
loved it. So thank you. Like today, I was just
I came into the office, I roll in there, I'm

(02:52):
I'm I'm fired up, I'm ready, get the buzz box
coffee on, get it brewing, because I beat little baby
brother to the office today and I thought, you know what,
I'm gonna make sure he comes into coffee to just
like he does for us. That sweet you haven't got
it yet, but yeah, thank you, baby brother, and right

(03:12):
the big yeah, and you and I look and sitting
there in our office, I mean, I want you to
just think about this for a minute. A listener and
our viewer of this program has took the time to
get a Christmas card, fill it out and send it
to us and say thank you for a great year

(03:34):
and had some nice scripture in there for Christmas and
and how nice is that? Is so nice? Yeah, that's
so nice.

Speaker 5 (03:40):
So, I mean, we have a couple of them opened
up sitting up by the printer in there.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
I know. But just to think that anybody, all of
you out there that take the time to do that,
I mean, you could just simply send an email like
you do, and it means a lot. And to take
the time to go get a card and put it, yeah,
we do so thank you.

Speaker 6 (03:57):
So stockings, We've got some stockings people, y'all are just
really nice.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
We do. Yeah, just full of all kinds of candy
and stuff. It's not a great time for type two diabetes,
but I'll tell you this, it's it's been a lot
of fun. Yeah. So h so we'll we'll move forward
on that. Here's what we're gonna do some things that
will be happening today, and that is that we will
have a Wednesday Bible study today and it just will

(04:22):
be a standalone Bible study and it will be about Christmas,
so it will be seasonal.

Speaker 7 (04:27):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
We're going to take a deep dive into Luke chapter
two and some cross reference some other verses. Uh, and
go back and do that. Let's go back and look
at what scripture has said. And you know, there's there's
there's a there's an interesting line in in Luke chapter two,
which in the later English trans translations, uh change was
changed a little bit when they found the older some

(04:49):
of the more older versions of scripture that were closer
to the original. And they were like, hey, this one
word here, this one Greek word, we got to make
an adjustment here. So so we'll we'll look at that.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
And it's interesting because we've got to remember everything that's
going on on what we're thinking about. It's uh, it's precious,
but it's also a challenge to everybody to uh to
celebrate and and and there's a lot there's there's but
there's a lot of potential to have something to celebrate.
But it doesn't mean that you're celebrating it because it
could be condemning you.

Speaker 8 (05:24):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (05:24):
So we'll uh, we'll we'll take that on today. That's
it was so funny. You see, let me tell you
exactly what my wife said to me, because for some
reason she's decided again to try to get on my schedule.
She tries this from time to time. And she goes
to bed when I go to bed, and gets up
when I get up, and she goes, what are you
gonna do on Bible study day? And I said, I'm
gonna just do a Christmas message? Oh will you send

(05:44):
that to me? Now? She never asked for an archive
of the Boss Okay, she's she's basically hurt me enough okay,
and uh, and she was like, oh, send that to me.
I want to. I want to listen to her Christmas message.
That'll be great. And she goes, what are you gonna do? Luke?
Chapter two? I said, I am. I said, nah, I
got some things I want to tell. She goes, are
you gonna be mean to us on Christmas? And she goes,

(06:05):
are you gonna like go and make it in something hard?
And I said, well, I mean I can't apologize the
script hunt and uh. And she goes, well, I hope
it's I hope it's hopeful and precious. And I said, well,
it's always hope. But I mean she goes, you're gonna
You're gonna make it some way where now we're going.
I said, well, I'm just gonna We're just gonna study
the Bible. Baby, I don't know what to you. And

(06:25):
so anyway, so that's uh, that'll be happening today. Uh
we will give away Christmas cash today. You can count
on that. A very uncomfortable moment.

Speaker 5 (06:34):
Yesterday great seeing all right, count at big time Russian person.

Speaker 1 (06:37):
Well, he came on by with his daughter. Hey, hell
state his daughter going to memory state. Go ahead, let's go.
But he was really questioning. Boy, he was a lot
of stuff. One time he got out like that. Pen
started figuring, yeah, you remember that.

Speaker 5 (06:51):
Yes, And because we're trying to do it in our
head and you know, we'll get off a little bit.

Speaker 1 (06:54):
I told him, I said, I know what he claims,
were so far under it? Unbleegs. Let me write all
this down here. Let me see. I didn't say we
were a long way under the budget. I said, we're
about fifty dollars under. Said sure, I'd love to go
into the Christmas party on Friday with a little extra.
But we'll see. Okay, but today up for grabs. Three questions.
Stay wait on you. I hope you've been paying attention.

(07:15):
Did I not spring to the audience? You got to
know the show you do?

Speaker 5 (07:18):
Okay, gotta pay attention, gotta listen. And you know on
the big Christmas party, we're going to be visited by
Andy Andrews. That's gonna be He's gonna come slide.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Then guess what else is coming? I heard from yesterday.
Gary's coming? Yes, hate any pies? Hey, you want me
to come to the Christmas party? Right? And I said yeah?
And he goes, ain't anybody gonna be out there in
the parking lot? And I said, well, I don't know, Gary,
I think they might be. I said, well, Gary, yes,
you have to be here for the Christmas party. So

(07:48):
Gary's gonna be here.

Speaker 5 (07:49):
Andy and we got the little happy from Barton Clay
that we all wish we could say, the mom blind
platinum coy.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
That's it now it's turned into a piece of Asian jewelry. Okay,
that's not what it is. It's good. It's a French
as yeah as mont Blanc. Okayest mister stook uh platinum
platinum coated coated Classic Classic pin point pin four hundred

(08:21):
and eighty dollars with a pen mumblow. Too much pressure
for me, But some of y'all can handle them, like
I'm scared of Yeah, I know, I've had to hide
it from you for you look very nice, pins very
nic I'm a little surprised that I've made this far
with the sweater on, with Greg making no comment. Oh yeah, yeah,
that's okay. Yeah, here we go, camp fire. Get that.

(08:42):
I can't. I came on in the campfire and you're ready.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
Greg.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
What I'm doing is being festive because there's a Christmas
message today.

Speaker 6 (08:49):
It's Fred Claus.

Speaker 8 (08:50):
Great.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
It is absolutely and so you know, like years later,
when somebody says, what was that Christmas meshes they did
in a Wednesday Bible study, somebody says, it's got to
be this one's got he's got your red sweater? Yeah,
they go, but it's not red, but yeah, it is red.
That's not red red. It's burnt orange. That ain't no
it's red red. It's a dark red that ain't red.
And it's more towards it.

Speaker 6 (09:09):
Is it red burnt orange? Greg, It's not red.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
That is not red. It's a red sweater, red decorator.
It's redish burnt like it's in the red. It's in
the red family. This Texas been a little darker. Can't
you see you coming in for Christmas?

Speaker 9 (09:22):
Eve?

Speaker 8 (09:22):
Greg?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Movie sitting by the fireplace with the pot. Yeah, with
this on, oh yeah, with that beard rocking.

Speaker 6 (09:27):
It looks straight up red on camera.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
Thank you. I think it's red.

Speaker 10 (09:31):
I'm impressed, Greg said, burnt or. I mean that's I've
never even I didn't know that was a color.

Speaker 1 (09:36):
Texas, you don't know what's the color. That's the color
that auburn is other than orange.

Speaker 6 (09:40):
I thought they were auburn.

Speaker 1 (09:42):
No, and it's Texas's is burnt off? What them is
burnt on? I'll see how you see orange in that.
It's not orange. It ain't red, Greg, It's a red sweater.
Like if you were on the sidelines with the game Cocks,
they'd make you go change shirts. I didn't say I
had on that color red. But it is a shade
of red. I have a red family. I'll give you that.
But Christmas is that other bright? Greg, come over here,

(10:02):
let me put it up nice Christmas red. But it
may be a red, but it's not Christmas. Will you
come over here, and I'm gonna put up against your necks.
Se If it's red, it's a match, it's a match.
So you tell him that's Christmas red. Santa Claus wongs
in with that on. What do you I think Santa
when he gets back to the North Bow and he
kicks it his boots off, I think he puts his off.
I think he does, but he doesn't fly in around minute. No, Greg,

(10:25):
I don't have a Santa suit.

Speaker 11 (10:27):

(12:19):

You're right, boy, he had one. Go ahead. Oh wait,
chime in, Greg, you wanna go ahead and talk about
Speedy's Special Forces? Here he go we go nothing wrong.
I got in front of mine too, because you know,
anytime you you venture out and really do like what
I call the top ten. Guy had pre approved shirts,

(12:51):
group of stuff. Yeah, he's pre approved GREG. Every one
of us we go to our closet, we have Greg
approved clothing. And if you get outside of that, just
wait on him. Yeah. It's fun and it's just the
way it is here. And I'm the same way. He
comes in the door immediately. Hey, hey, go ahead, yeah,
go ahead, nothing wrong with that jacket. Is that a
jacket or shirt?

Speaker 5 (13:11):
It's it's like one of those in between things that
you can wear inside, but yet it's also you can
button it up.

Speaker 1 (13:18):
And wear out.

Speaker 6 (13:19):
It's a shacket.

Speaker 5 (13:20):
Yeah, she got it. She got it, And I don't
really know if I'm wearing it right because the collar
can go up.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
Collar brother, huh collar poppet poppet brother. So anyway, she
got locket. She got it from my birthday. And then
she went ahead and said, well, look, if you're just
not gonna wear you just want to return that. I
was like, okay, I've got to wear it. So I'm
wearing this. My wife got it, So y'all can eat
it's fine special Forces. That's good. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
It's a solid color and so how much more plane
it can?

Speaker 1 (13:52):
I hope I get one for Christmas? Okay, I do.
I like the old name Maverick. Something about the color
and looks military. What what is it? I'm just trying
to understand. I like this. It's just it's got it's
got a slight puffy sleeve. It's not full. It's got
the puffy slight you know, the stitching you know, but
they'll need.

Speaker 5 (14:13):
To do which isn't good. It feels good, it's not
it's not that warm. I mean, if I was hot,
i'd take it off.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
No, Yeah, but that's true about you should have a
fashion segment and y'all break down fashion because y'all.

Speaker 5 (14:26):
Sweater, y'all, he's convinced he's wearing red sweat. Do we
do the fashion minute with Gregs? And he knows so much?

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I obviously look sharp.

Speaker 6 (14:37):
I've been wearing these jeans for three days.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
The only thing that we're making fit about right now?

Speaker 12 (14:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (14:43):
The only thing pop this. You see how the slaves look.
If he had a pair of pants and that was
the legs, Yeah, that matched it. Now that would pop.
That would be. So here's what Here's what I got. Shacket.
Here's what I gotta know. Are you wearing a jacket indoors?

Speaker 5 (14:59):
That's what I just said. You can wear it inside
that according to Terry. So I'm doing what my wife told.

Speaker 9 (15:04):
Me to do.

Speaker 10 (15:05):
Jack shirt, it's a shacket, It's a shacket, jacket, it's
a sacking.

Speaker 9 (15:12):
I like it.

Speaker 10 (15:13):
Yeah, we got a break coming up here at zero
dark thirties.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
You don't forget.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Man if Richard Simmons was still alive and he's saying
that burnt Orange tackled him again. Look, I can't say anything.
Everybody's gathering around in front of me for it read
to us not before christ. I'm I don't know why.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
I yeah, yeah, Well you've been wearing that since Taylor
was twelve.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
We probably yeah, right, Yeah, I've noticed this thing is
getting rotated heavy. That's not true. You like it, that's
not true? Like it. I don't have a lot of clothes, guys,
you're gonna see him a lot. Got a shirt I'm
wearing tomorrow. I probably had it on Monday. Got me
a quarters zip a kind of like yeah, because you
want of course, because you want my shirt. I do
like show.

Speaker 6 (16:02):
Yeah that's good.

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Sleeves scare me a little bit, but I like that
sleeves filling. Go ahead, go ahead, get your rubb. But
you see what I'm saying. It's supposed to be puffy sleeve.
Want without the puffy grat you what good thing that
If my driverers messed up and I need to get
I need to change out the pipe on the back
of it. I just she was one of those speedy sleeves.
Yeah what on what.

Speaker 6 (16:20):
Now they're speedy wearing a shackt vent?

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Yeah? Event stuff? You do you have that that silver
that looks like you know, you're connected to the vent
pas out the pattern looks like it? Oh yeah, okay
saying you know, I don't know what the name of
it is or if you had the name the little
slinky pipe, Yeah yeah, okay, I could. I can go
up to the name of that. You can get it,

(16:45):
and I think it's called the vent. Is it pretty
much drive? Actually? Boy guys, I really do like it.
I did now my arms are so big it might
it probably might be looking.

Speaker 5 (16:58):
Half sizes for you, right, you just worred about your
burnt orange sweater.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
If you just had some kind of cool hat with.
I mean, Adler, step on out here. I know what
you got on, So get out here. Make sure he's
got Smoothie King. He's got he's put a he's put
a shacket all right on Dimond back, Darryl. Yes, our
Smoothie King.

Speaker 6 (17:20):
No, this is a I think this is a shacket too,
for real. My wife got it for me for you.

Speaker 1 (17:25):
In front of that Greg yours has a hood on.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
It doesn't he does have a hood on.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
And I looked at those are in but the boys
love those vent duck Yeah, okay, buddy, I looked at it. Guys.
It was. It was kind of nippy yesterday. But by
the time we left, I looked up Adler's leaving. He's
got a hood with a leather jacket on. He's got
a hoodie with with the hoodie is on his head. Well,
he's trying to stay with him and he's in here.

Speaker 5 (17:47):
Well whether where our cars aparked, they stay in the
shade until a certain part of the day and you
can get in that car. It's a little chilly. Oh yeah, buddy,
it was cold yesterday. Heat up about three o'clock.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
It wasn't pretty it was pretty kick when that got bard.
What it has been, Well, walk on out right now,
staying there's a little ship out there right now. It's
because you can think you're a superhero, and you can
think that a lot. Greg. Matter of fact, it's so
Cod just speaks word jacket during the show, But it's
not a jacket. Was there? It was hands of me

(18:21):
and I went outside to get warm. Yeah it was
cold in here. Well, bless your heart. And by the way,
I always wanted a window from my office, didn't have
one for like twelve thirteen years. Yeah, when does it
get cold? You know your office like a like a freezer. Yeah, well,
and you wish your sleeves on the sweater would stay up.

Speaker 11 (18:44):
Here's the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
Okay, So, how many of you are about to invest
in college? What an investment that's going to be? What
an investment that's going to be?

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (18:57):
And uh, you know, there's there's a sadly a pretty
strong chance if you don't get the information, you're going
to pay a lot of money, or if you're you know,
working together and your kids working a job to pay
for it themselves, whatever the case may be. A big
investment is about to be made. And if you pick
the wrong university, and I've seen some of this firsthand,

(19:19):
there's a really strong chance your kid is being shipped
off on your dime or their dime, to be indoctrinated
away from everything that you hold dear. And then some
of you, look, I know right now you're going birds.
Don't worry about it. I'm sending my kid to a
Christian college with hell that might be worse if it's

(19:40):
the wrong one. You talk about confusing somebody, why don't
you vet them out? And there's a free resource available
for you right now to make a wise choice. It's
christiancollegeguide dot com. It list all the basics, acceptance rates,
tuition calls, academic majors, all the stuff you would expect.

(20:00):
But what makes it really a special resource is that
Christiancollegeguide dot Com will show you the school's faith commitments,
its campus policies, and its spiritual life. All the information
that will help you find a college that you can trust. Okay,
so why don't you get your free profile right now

(20:23):
at christiancollegeguide dot com. That's Christian college a college guide
dot com, the definitive guide to Christian higher education, and
it is completely free.

Speaker 13 (20:37):
Come um bunking to see Pump.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
Come our finest gifts.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
We bring up Bump, come to live. All right, we're back.
Thanks for being with us America. We are rolling through

(21:10):
another day still to come. What word should you be
texting to the text line? Eight eight eight The number
six big Vox. Remember that is unchanged. The only thing
that has changed for the last ten days of the
year is the phone number to call or to be
part of any contests that we're doing. That's two O

(21:30):
five five three zero one thousand.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
I do have good news for all of you. Good
news for those of you that missed the deadline. I
mean you're you meant to I mean you did. I
mean you meant to go to rick burgesshow dot com.
You meant to go to the store there, click on
shop and you meant to get things for people on
your list that would like something from the show. And

(21:56):
you didn't get it done, or you waited sort of
late and you you made the deadline, but you went
there and the size you need we didn't have anymore. Okay,
I know well, and I give credit to the store.
They came up with U on their own. They started
getting so many people that they were that they felt
bad for for either one of those scenarios, and they

(22:20):
came up with a brilliant idea gift cards. So what
you can do and you the gift card you can
get in twenty four hours. So if you go to
rick burgesshow dot com, click on shop our store either
one both those work, and then you'll go to the
store and you'll see them there and you can put
as much money on there as you want, and you

(22:43):
pick the amount you want on the gift card. Uh,
and then that gift card will come to you. It'll
be an E card and it'll come to you and
you can give that to someone for Christmas and then
they can go to the store either when their size
is fully stocked or whatever and get whatever they want. Yeah,
so if you miss the deadline on getting an actual

(23:05):
object ship to you, then just go there and get
a gift card. And they look great and you can
find that at rickburgesshow dot com there in the store.
I thought that was a good idea. I think it
was a great idea. Uh, And I felt great.

Speaker 5 (23:19):
I'm surprised you hadn't told me to go to the
mall and do some stolen valor today in this.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
That was the other thing you missed.

Speaker 5 (23:26):
But I was thinking of the mall because Reese actually
said he went in the last couple of days to
the mall, and I.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Was like, what was that like? And I know you
said you did.

Speaker 5 (23:36):
I did because a lot of times you go to
the to the mall and you go to the stores
and you just approach from the outside and don't walk
the mall and you just in and out. And so
but Terry declared, we need to run through and grab
something at the mall because you do get to a
point where okay, it's too late for shipping or whatever.
Now we're bricking mortar. We got to go pick something up,

(23:56):
you know. And and so she says, thursdays the day
for that for us. She's got a couple of more items.
I have never been so lost when it comes to
gifts than this year. Normally we will will tag team it,
and hey, kept she has run off and left me.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
And so I'm like, okay, yeah, but look at what
you got out of it. I know she got me this.
That is my beautiful wife got me a gift, buddy.
That's that is really really good and Uh. And we're
gonna miss you when they call you to Syria. Uh.
The that's so thank you.

Speaker 6 (24:31):
Thank you for right.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Well, I mean, are you Goose or Maverick? I will
say this, and we talked about it yesterday. I think
our Christmas shopping is done. Really, we're closed, We're finished.
She did say there was a few items. The only
thing that I got, The only thing I got to
finish is what I'm making for baby brother for the
Chris Christmas party on Friday. Yeah, I'm gonna finish that

(24:54):
up tomorrow. But are you not making anything? We know
what you do, we know what you one of us
are going to go in there. And what do you
mean by making I gotta go If I got to
go out in the wilderness and bring in a rock
and carve it into a Santa face, what are you talking?

Speaker 5 (25:10):
Just might go store ball clip clip here, go buddy,
and then that and that's okay, that that would meet
the requirements. But you're not making anything.

Speaker 10 (25:17):
It's the thought that counts, right. We are supposed to
make it with our hands.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
It's all about it's all about the effort, and it's
there any effort involved. If I if I get a
kit that's a craft and put it together. Have Sherry
do it, no problem. Trust me, when you see it,
you'll know that Cherry didn't do it. I can't wait

(25:41):
to give it to him though. It's what he's been
waiting now.

Speaker 9 (25:44):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (25:45):
Put the pressure on every body, Greg.

Speaker 10 (25:47):
We're supposed to make it with our hands. But it
doesn't have to be like you took your hands, you
forged the steel to make the hammer.

Speaker 6 (25:53):
I don't have to go so far.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
My Santa face was a perfect example. I don't have
to go do rock work right and correct. We bring
it in, go wow to the tail on the beard
and it's outstanding. So my paint by colors, you aren't going.
I'd be very excited about it.

Speaker 10 (26:09):
Whatever you want to bring, it's it's you know, it's
we're brothers here and we're family, and that's all that mattered.

Speaker 1 (26:16):
Nothing could be more out of my wheelhouse. I'm talking
about it now, Guys. When I was a little kid,
every time Sunday school, vacation, Bible, schirls school, anytime the
crafts came out, it was so disastrous, and I remember
kids would turn in things that looked so cool and

(26:37):
their parents were probably just so excited and my craft.
I mean it looked like that they had brought in
an animal without a posable thumb and said, try to
do it. It was genetic because mine were the same one. No, no,
wait a minute, don't you don't you, Greg You didn't
we forget your your painting of mallards. Oh I thought
I had a shot that year. Let me tell you,
Greg had a shot when you put together the mallard

(27:00):
for the art contest that year. I didn't even get
an honorable mention. I can't believe that those expectations went
when I walked in and saw I didn't get the
blue ribbon. Of course, I think the kid hadn't got
it traced his. But that's that's a whole nother story, okay.
And uh and I said, well, maybe I got the red.
I didn't get the red. Maybe I got the white third.
How about honorable mention? They had a couple of them.
How did your mallards get overlooked? And that was the
first year I actually could actually submit something. I thought, well,

(27:22):
this is all Gregor's mallards weren't bad, by the way,
they weren't bad. Now mine they would just put over
there when you saw mine, you thought, well, you know,
it's good that they're letting slow class get involved.

Speaker 9 (27:34):
Rick.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
You know what, No, seriously, I'm so I just don't.
I just don't have that. I can't. I can't. Even
if we all drew stick me in, you would go,
what is this?

Speaker 5 (27:45):
You remember the first time you traced your hand, mad Turkey,
that's pretty good.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
I can't do that. I've tried that.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
I would look.

Speaker 10 (27:52):
Around and.

Speaker 6 (27:54):
How did these people look so good? Did we all
have the same supplies?

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Were as me?

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Right?

Speaker 1 (28:01):
You weren't very good at either.

Speaker 10 (28:02):
I would always especially some of the girls in the class,
I'm like, what did you how did you do?

Speaker 1 (28:06):
How do y'all color so well?

Speaker 14 (28:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (28:08):
I never could color good. I can't color good. I'm
terribly colored. Trying you when you outline it and then
instilled it. Oh, some of you, some of you. If
you ever get anything from me that I that I
take you know, like we have these little cards we
send out sometimes if you if we received something from you, hay,
thank you very much. By the time I'm done, I'm like,
they're gonna think this somethings wrong with you.

Speaker 5 (28:28):
Hey, look, I'll tell you this when I was making
these little markers here for the Burgess Ball Challenge, and
and I had to make the puffy numbers and then
and then and then draw in some good hand No,
I almost there was one I had to start over
because I got outside the lines. And I'm seven, yep,
can't go inside the line.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
But he did? You have good penmanship. Some of y'all
out there that get signed copies of the books, Yeah,
there's there's like ninety percent of them that that all have,
And all of a sudden, there'll just be one that
all a sudden, my hand will just go and I'm like,
I think I have to turn this book back in.
I can't. Nobody can have this. I don't even know
what that is. I think I just met a smudge. Yeah.

(29:08):
So so anyway, we will be exchanging our gifts on
Friday as part of the Christmas party. Mm hmm, it's
Christmas came up. It's the it's the that's part that
runs Christmas.

Speaker 6 (29:18):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 1 (29:19):
Greg just said that gift.

Speaker 6 (29:20):
That's what you think?

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Greg? Thanks exchanging gifts ruins Christmas for kind it Okay,
when you get older, right when you were a kid,
it was awesome grabbing glad God exchanged the gift. Well,
oh there it is. Well besides that, okay, that was
a big one one of course. You know who, let's
face it, once you were given that gift, what you
try to bring back? I mean, there's nothing on Christmas
Day where we live. And again the extended forecast, they

(29:43):
really truly can only dial in so far out, but
they they're claiming it's going to be a little warmer
on Christmas sixties seventies.

Speaker 5 (29:51):
Uh and and Terry was like, wow, so's it opens
up the outside because we're hosting. And so she's gone
off and got all these little games and stuff. But once,
once she got it's like corn hole. But it's it's
like it's golf but corn hole. And it's like, I
don't know, it's like instead of throwing or tossing bean

(30:13):
bags or whatever, you you actually are hit your chipping
into into the hole or something.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
I don't know. She's got that.

Speaker 5 (30:22):
We got the little red ball that you punch that
you claim.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
You yeah, we got that. That's fun.

Speaker 5 (30:29):
But my boys have never been into the board games
that they won't do it.

Speaker 1 (30:33):
They won't still like instead of that blessing. Board games
are one of these things that I have a bad
attitude about. It's got to work, it's got to work.
Board in, but there are times when I've got in
and go, this is kind of fun. Yeah, you know
what I'm saying. It's surprise you, okay? Is that it?
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
I don't even again, she's run off and left me
those red solos and.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Don't know. I wouldn't mind trying that.

Speaker 5 (30:56):
Yeah, but she's got all kinds of stuff because she
claims out out side is something. But there's one thing
that we've discussed that we could have at the house.
And that is not one, not two, not three, not four,
not five, not six, but seven dogs.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Oh that's that number. Where these other dogs coming from?
These dog bringing people. I mean, people don't bring your
dog to someone else's house. Nobody wants that. Well, uh,
it's kind of It's just I don't know.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
And and and Tyler maybe done got another puppy that
gummet bear.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Nobody the other one, yes, nobody want two.

Speaker 5 (31:38):
And they got that and and you know, all right,
that's five who's bringing the other?

Speaker 1 (31:43):
And reg they're bringing their dog away from Mississippi, Walter.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
And Winston where they're they're they're going to be staying
over and then and then taking h my parents somewhere Saturday,
uh and all that. So they're coming on over for
a little bit. But uh yeah we were, we were
doing the count. Now we're just gonna kick them out
and they'll be outside.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Yeah, but you go outside and it will be all over.
You don't play outside. That's just what my life is now.
I just getting thought about that. He's freaking dogs and piles.
Well you could not ride. Oh yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:14):
And then Cuddy, you know what Terry's turning on?

Speaker 1 (32:16):
Cudding? Really he chewed up the first Christmas gift that
she had wrapped underneath the tree. Thought it was a toy. Okay,
he thought it was all tattered. Now that's funny.

Speaker 11 (32:27):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Sure we played a
little ball. Rick Burgess terrible.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
We're back. Thanks for being with us. So we start.
We're working our way to the Rick Burgess Show. Christmas
party coming up on Friday, wrapping up year number one
of the Rick Burgess Show. We'll have best of shows
for you to enjoy during the break and then January
the fifth, Lord Willing, we come back for twenty twenty six.

(33:11):
We have a lot to be excited about in twenty
twenty six. But now we kind of reflect on what
was twenty twenty five, and there was a lot there
that was going on. I'm looking at the text line
right now. You mentioned that one of your mini dogs, Speedy,
has chewed up somebody's gift. I don't know how, honestly,

(33:33):
somebody just sent that their dog is chewed up various gifts.
That's a lot of gifts too that were under the tree. Look,
people are different. If these dogs bring you so much joy,
they're worth all this. What about the dog stuff? To
each his own. I gotta tell you that right there,

(33:54):
that right there.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
So we had one under the tree, and it was
a small one and I guess I think it had
j C's name on it. Terry was, you know, kind
of starting to knock him out.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
A little bit. It was trying to help him open it.
And it was it was pretty small.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
I mean it was I don't know what was in it,
but it was really small, smaller than a little laptop.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
You know.

Speaker 5 (34:13):
And and and we we come in and underneath the ottoman. Uh,
I guess that's where his eating spot was. Yeah, Well
we noticed that what do you what what do you
call it?

Speaker 1 (34:26):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (34:26):
It's the cover you put underneath the tree? What's that
called on the skirt?

Speaker 15 (34:29):
The skirt?

Speaker 1 (34:30):
The skirts the tree skirt? Thank you? Well, we know
I noticed, I know, I noticed that the tree skirt
had been pulled over and there was it was bear
underneath the tree. Well, I didn't know she had put
a gift under there.

Speaker 5 (34:45):
So I said, hey, she got home from where guy
was getting home and hey, skirts over there. Cut he
pulled it out. She went, did he get the gift?
And I said, what are you talking about? She said,
there was a gift under there, and she we we
went under there, and she even put it in the
back and and she got down.

Speaker 1 (35:01):
You know, he was looking around. Was I commented on
her butt while she did that. She didn't like that?
And uh and and she's like, would you stop? Help
me find the gift.

Speaker 5 (35:09):
And so we did find it, and it was underneath
It was underneath the ottoman where he had had him
a little spot. He was set up, probably just so happy,
and he had eaten half the bottle. It was just
just tattered.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
He was trying to help him ate into it.

Speaker 8 (35:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
And the gift was a little damaged. Uh, but they
think she's gonna she thinks she can salvage it.

Speaker 2 (35:30):
But no.

Speaker 1 (35:31):
So now it's like, should we wrap gifts? And he's
not really a bad dog. I don't know what the
deal is, but he's not a good one. No, he's
what he showed you that he'll get a gift out
this point. If you put one under and he gets it,
that's on you. I know this is bad, but this
is what we've gotten to at the house. You know
the crates, uh that they sleep and they can come apart,

(35:54):
and then you can make them all just like a
little fence, you know. I said, hey, do you mean
put the crate out of the the attic and put
a fence crate around the tree? Is that what we become?
Really Christmas? I said, until Christmas Day, when Christmas Eve,
when the ain't nobody, you know, we're the only ones here.
I couldn't. Yeah, we need to put a fence around

(36:18):
the gifts.

Speaker 5 (36:20):
I can't even breathe, I can't even She said, well,
we'll just wrap the gifts and put him somewhere and
then wait and put them underneath the tree.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
You know, the day before or something like that.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
So Yeah, that's what we've become. Wow, and I don't
I don't like It's stupid. I don't I don't like it.

Speaker 5 (36:36):
She doesn't like it. I don't know what to do.
And then we got Jack who just wanders around. You
see Peter Patter all the time, bleas this art.

Speaker 1 (36:44):
He's so old.

Speaker 5 (36:45):
I used think he's confused, he forgets he walked across
the ram.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
I think, oh wow, Wow, he won't even look at
a gift. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (36:51):
And then we got Leo, who was underneath your your butt.
He's just if you stop, he hits your calf, you know.
And then you let him outside to go, hey, just
go be a doll. You turn around and they're wanting
to come back in.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
You were just wanting to go out out there. I'm
getting a sense of almost like claustrophobic. I'm like, wow,
you're you're they're so intrusive.

Speaker 5 (37:12):
Yeah, how about this? I got this crazy concept? Uh,
they got fur a lot of it. Okay, it's thirty five,
they're probably not cold. Let's just leave them outside.

Speaker 1 (37:22):
Yep, you know, I mean I understand if he gets
down into the twenties, all right, whatever, But I mean,
let's we got a fenced in backyard. Leave him out
exactly exactly.

Speaker 6 (37:34):
It's like they enjoy the process of going in and out.
They don't want to stay in either place.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
Yeah, that's a good point.

Speaker 6 (37:39):
Kids are like that too.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
It's Franklin. I know he is. He does he pee
on your gifts because I know he'll pe oh he uh.

Speaker 10 (37:46):
He hasn't had that issue yet. Okay, he'll be on
the deck now in a second. While doing it, I
can like, I see where you were walking. Why were
you walking while doing it?

Speaker 6 (37:58):
At least they're getting old though, brother, Yeah, I know,
I know.

Speaker 14 (38:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (38:04):
Even looks at me like his father time or something. Man,
I mean he is old.

Speaker 1 (38:08):
I can I tell you what's coming for you, and
you've got you got to be prepared for this answer dad, husband,
mm hmmm. When they finally go on in, you'll have
just a moment, well you were saying that was a
good run. You'll think of the joy they brought you,
and then there'll be a little bit of relief. It's
just about to creep in, and then you'll hear, daddy,
can we have a puppy, babe? Let's get the kids

(38:30):
a puppy.

Speaker 6 (38:30):
Right, No, Ruby was talking about it.

Speaker 10 (38:32):
She's like, we need to get a new dog because
our dogs are so old. Well, was like, they can
hear you, sweethearts, Yes they can't.

Speaker 1 (38:45):
Honey, when dad gets old, I hope you don't have
the same energy. I will. I will get over. We
need a new dad. Our dad is old. But no,
it's different dog, you know it. I remember that being
a kid. No offense. You look at the old dog
and you're kind of like, puppy would be cooler. Yeah, yeah,
he's grown up. Right, there's turn out like a vault, right.

(39:10):
I like dogs that can hear and see. Yeah, the
so so so tyler and maybe have a labor doodle. Okay, sweetheart,
now they got glad to see here it's a doodle
and an allsy mixed So what do you what's that doodle? Yeah,
all sea doodle. It's a it's an eaty bitty thing.

(39:31):
This this doodle deal because they don't ship, ain't that? Yes?
Oh no, it's I'm in this world now to the
way you're doing this too, is I've got the my
my son and his wife have a dog and they'll
they'll bring her.

Speaker 5 (39:46):
Oh yeah, yeah, you got your dog bringers. Yeah, that
car door opens and here they come.

Speaker 1 (39:53):
Come. Are im at camp House and there's a dog
looking in my beard? Listen that dog with jumping Rick's
laud All right, it's yep, this is ah, this is
great if I'm wanting to try to make it all.
You know, you love your you love your kids, you do, yeah,
but you love camp House too, and that place used

(40:15):
to be solid.

Speaker 11 (40:16):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (40:31):

Speaker 16 (40:34):
You know what we say.

to that. This headline is kind of shador Sanders getting

(42:24):
more pro bow votes than Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson and
Joe Burrow. Yeah, that was kind of shocking to me.
Is that just telling us? What is this telling us?
He's played in five games, the Browns are three and eleven.
He's thrown five touchdowns and six interceptions, okay, and just

(42:47):
nine hundred and forty six total yards. He's one in
three as a starter and he's well the fans, coaches,
and federal players vote for provo and and by the
by these criteria, Sanders ranks ahead of established NFL superstars

(43:08):
that I just mentioned he is. He's the head of
Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts. He's also ahead of
Baker Mayfield, Bryce Young, c J. Stroud, and bow Nicks.
What and yeah, yes, m h, don't forget that. Uh
We're we're talking about people who in many cases are

(43:33):
leading teams to like incredible seasons. Okay, so let me
look at Nick's Yeah, uh so is are the Broncos
twelve and two? I think?

Speaker 13 (43:44):
So?

Speaker 1 (43:45):
Wow? Yeah about that? That's a pretty big story. Yeah, yeah,
that's a big one. So uh so there you go.
So is this just he just very popular? Is this
showing that having a great how the van the fan vote? Way? Anyway?
I mean that ain't it? Ain't like sports that that's
do I think Shude or Sanders at the end of

(44:07):
it all, when they you know, get it all vetted out,
is gonna make the Pro Bowl? I don't, but they're
just saying that's an interesting story, right Yeah? So wow?
So so there you go, but but that's ahead scrape.
We Burrow has been hurt. Uh Yeah, Lamar Jackson was
hurt for a while out and he's back. Yeah, Jaen
hurts not having a great year.

Speaker 5 (44:27):
Yeah, they bounced back this past weekend, but they played
the Raiders.

Speaker 1 (44:31):
So if you want to bounce back, yeah, there you go.
What about this did we ever figure out? Because I know,
speaking of that, Joe Burrow at one time was saying
he was having some going through some difficulty in his life.
Did they ever get to the bottom of all that?
He was kind of had this moment in the press
converse where get it seemed like he was maybe he
was just struggling how frustrating the year has been with
his injuries and stuff. But it was a lot of

(44:51):
people were like, is he all right talking about how
he wasn't having fun? Right? Yeah? Yeah, stand on sidelines
not fun. Quarterback Uh Patrick Mahomes knee injury worse than
initially thought. Oh bad, one season ending knee injury is
worse than initially imagine after successful surgery. Yeah, I think
he had that Monday and A c L said he

(45:14):
reportedly towards L c L as well as the A
c L. I think yeah.

Speaker 10 (45:21):
People were saying there was like a surgeon online talking
about the timing of the surgery.

Speaker 6 (45:25):
That tells you that that he also tore that as well, right,
And they.

Speaker 1 (45:29):
Say these separate ligaments can complicate recovery. But the report
adds that this doesn't necessarily mean mahomes rehab will be
longer than the nine months predicted. So there you go.
So those are those are all bigger than guys. Look
coming up this weekend? Yeah, college football playoff? Right, yeah, right,
your disappointed Texas in in it. This is a red sweater.

(45:54):
So we've got I know, Friday night, we've got Bama
and Oklahoma remain yep, yep, that's at seven o'clock Central
on ABC, ESPN. We got anybody else Friday night? Or
is everybody else over the weekend?

Speaker 3 (46:06):
Now?

Speaker 5 (46:06):
Then just that's the only Friday college football playoff game.
There's other there's two other bowls earlier in the day,
but it's not part of the playoffs. And then you
got then you've got Saturday the twentieth, starting at eleven
am Central on ABC ESPN. You got Miami and they're
at Texas A and m Okay. And then you've got

(46:27):
at two thirty on TNT and True TV, HBO Max
at two thirty pm Central time, you got two Lane
at Ole Miss And then let's see later in the
night you got at six thirty pm Central on TNT,
True TV, HBO Max, James Madison at Oregon. Okay, but

(46:48):
in between that, you've got, like you got, you do
have different bowl games. And speaking of that, congratulations to
Jack State they won the Salute to Veterans Bowl last
night and mcgory they beat Troy seventeen thirteen.

Speaker 4 (47:01):
So good.

Speaker 1 (47:03):
Loved it. You know, we talked about that on the
show just briefly, but that's just so good for college
football for those of you that may not be aware
of that in other parts of the country. That was
a rivalry that was in when both teams were Division two.
It was the Division two version of Michigan, Ohio State
Auburn Alabama. You know, think of all these great rivalries

(47:25):
and Division two, it was one of the most heated rivalries.
Both teams from the same state, just like you love
and those two teams went at it and they had
a big thing. It was you would do if you
were for Jack State, you wore all kinds of garb
that said whoop Troy. If you were for Troy, you
you know, you were the garb that said whooped jack State.
And then that rivalry when Troy went up a division,

(47:49):
the rivalry kind of ended.

Speaker 3 (47:51):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (47:51):
And then of course Jacksville went up and they both
went all the way to Division one, and so they
and we kept saying, you know, all even Rick and
Bubby years, those teams should be playing each other. Yeah,
so it's good that they came up with a way
to get them together. Yeah, and I hope they'll start
scheduling each other. That's a I'd love to bring that back.

(48:12):
So Jack State one? Was it seventeen thirteen? Yeah? Yeah.

Speaker 5 (48:17):
It is interesting though, the out of conference games and stuff,
the way the future is for college football. A lot
of coaches are like, why are we putting ourselves out there?

Speaker 8 (48:26):
You know?

Speaker 5 (48:27):
I mean, it's sad for the fans because they'll be
fluffs out of out of conference, But you know, what
do you have to gain for playing these you know,
rivalry games or these big, big tier games out of
conference because you can set yourself up to it.

Speaker 1 (48:45):
It will be great if you could get UAB South.
I think I saw with South Alabama and Jack said,
are gonna play each other? Not next year but the
next That would be great South Alabama and UAB Troy
Jacksonville State. If they'd all play Sanford Sanford but they're
still less, Sanford still one double A what I yeah,
Una is Division one?

Speaker 17 (49:01):
Now?

Speaker 1 (49:02):
Oh really are all right? So you and they would
be yeah, yeah, all those playing each other be great? Yeah,
because you want you want to have robberies and you
want to give the fans something to get excited about
outside the conference. And it'd be great if they're all
in the conference together. But that's a much bigger mountain
to climb.

Speaker 5 (49:19):
But you know, obviously Alabama and Oklahoma is is exciting.

Speaker 13 (49:23):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (49:23):
But Miami going to Texas A and that's my second
game after that's what Miami is going to show up, right,
all right? I want to see those two games. I'm
not really interested in Oregon James Madison and not with
James Madison shocked Oregon. Yeah, well that two lane old
miss the two lane old Miscan is interesting since Slane
Kiffin and all that. Yeah, now that game just got

(49:44):
a lot more interesting. They did. Granted they beat them
by five touchdowns. In the first meeting. But all this
junk on wasn't going on. I don't know what happened
that game. If that you know how it got out
of hand. That's right. Yeah, you have to go back
and look at it. But you know, Lane Kiffin being gone,
that just changes old missus whole. Yeah, unfortunately, like it
doesn't effectively. Yeah, so looking forward to it, Greg, I'd

(50:08):
like to see you and may get fired up about
the college playoff when we did last year. I think
the problem is there's so many games it's hard to
watch them all. Yeah, you get got on here, we
got one at campus right out. Yeah, I like, ay,
we'll be right back.

Speaker 11 (50:25):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. It's time for the
most dangerous ten minutes in radio. Unscreened phone calls.

Speaker 14 (50:47):

Speaker 3 (52:13):

Speaker 1 (52:13):
I was even talking to the eye doctor when I
went the other day, and they were asking, because of
the things you know with our eyes, you know, was
I taken Omega three of any kind? I said, well,
let me tell you what I'm taking. Let me tell
you us in Relief Factor. Even the eye doctor said,
ooh that's good. I can stay on that. So relief
Factor dot com nineteen ninety five gets you three weeks

Speaker 20 (53:49):
Hey, I was just wondering if y'all had seen where
the private schools might split in Alabama and there might
be a high school association of private fool associations.

Speaker 1 (54:01):
Haven't seen that? No, I sure have it. No, I
know there's been talking of that before, but haven't seen that.
Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls. Go ahead, Matt mag
mag Man.

Speaker 14 (54:14):
Hey, we'll get jobs on hot rocking DJ.

Speaker 19 (54:17):

light for the tide.

Speaker 1 (54:22):
That's funny. That might be a good idea. I like that. Uh,
we can we continue? Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls.
Go ahead, good morning, Yes, go ahead your own.

Speaker 19 (54:36):

Speaker 1 (54:40):
It's the thirteen Ghosts of Alabama. Wow, so Mary Christmas.
You go ahead, Okay, it was you know it was
called something like that. Rick Burgers Jeffrey unscreen phocas, go ahead.

Speaker 8 (54:55):
Hey guys, Tim from Azouri here. I just want to
thank Speedy for going to bat for the your Army
Navy game. It's always been on my bucket list and
you grow fourteen hours to go watch it last weekend
and it is an incredible event.

Speaker 1 (55:08):
Yeah fourteen Yeah, what was it like being in there?

Speaker 8 (55:14):
It was incredible. All the pregame stuff, the parachute's coming in,
the flying over, as the president being there, you know,
all the stuff before the game outside the stadium. I
encourage you highly to go watch it someday it's.

Speaker 1 (55:27):
Going next to what Yeah, I bet you all. No, Honestly,
I believe it. I would love to see it. I
actually saw actually being this is you know, sometimes you
think watching something on TV. I mean I felt this
way even when my son was playing, Uh, is sometimes
better than going through what you go through to be
at a game. But what I heard from people like you, Tim,

(55:49):
I saw a lot of posts about this that going
to that game is actually superior to watch it on
TV because of everything that's going on around the game
and before the game, and had people saying it was
one of the best sporting events experiences that they'd ever
had because of all the Yeah, because of all the
things you mentioned, So I actually think, you know, if

(56:10):
you're curious now, if all you do is watching on TV,
you miss so much of it.

Speaker 8 (56:14):
So exactly, and I agree the quality the football is
not the same that's going to watch the SEC game
or something that just everything involved in it. And there's
so many, you know, people that attend to the academies
that are at the game and watching the tickets and
the mixtip and the walk on. Man, that's that's a
lifetime experience.

Speaker 1 (56:32):
Well and I'm incredible. Well, look, as everybody keeps pointing out,
and Greg's the same way. I love option football. I
miss it. So you know, it may not they may
not be the athletes that you see at these other places,
but I love to watch that kind of old school football.
That's true. Thanks Tim, I appreciate that. I bet that
was an experience.

Speaker 19 (56:50):
Now.

Speaker 1 (56:51):
Cool trying to get Gregor to draw fourteen hours, I
don't know that'd be. I would like to see it live.
It might fly, Yeah, we could, we could fly, Rick,
We're going I would like to. I'm not being everybody
sinking I'm being facetious. I'm not. No, you are, because
he thought I was being a smart than he would
write bet because of your commentary. That was just you
understand why he said that, Well, we were messing with

(57:12):
Speedy because he was giving up daring the deer hunt. Right, Yeah,
try watching the game and looking for deer.

Speaker 6 (57:20):
That's hard.

Speaker 1 (57:21):
I'm not sure. I'm not sure it warranted a touch update.

Speaker 9 (57:25):
That's no.

Speaker 5 (57:26):
I just wanted to remind everybody that there's more important
things going on.

Speaker 1 (57:31):
What's important what we were doing. Hey, guys, the opening
ceremonies really sharp and all that. Maybe not updates on school.
He gave us a seven to seven, didn't I thought?

Speaker 5 (57:38):
I thought throwing out a stat that each team only
had one possession the entire first quarter, that is, and
you go out. Navy starts out with like some kind
of thirteen play eight minute drive almost, and.

Speaker 1 (57:52):
They're like, okay, I wonder if this is a boy.
Armies got a lot and they do the same thing.
I was like, Wow, is to you what uniforms are
going to wear? The helmets or something. Years ago they
just bore them there, but now every year is something different.
It's pretty cool. Rick birders show unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 9 (58:10):
Go ahead, lady, you see you should have uh you
should just say, hey, I found the gift that smacked
her on the ass.

Speaker 1 (58:19):
Yeah, okay, all right, don't worry I did.

Speaker 6 (58:23):
Okay, that was the right thing to just right there.

Speaker 1 (58:27):
Hey, it's right there. Married people, married married people. What
to do?

Speaker 6 (58:34):
Obligated, right, obligation, right, So it's our duty.

Speaker 1 (58:37):
Yeah, of course if you think about that, that guy
I like to thank him for including the creepy voice
with it. Yeah, it's one thing for you to be
thinking about that. It's quite another for another man to
be thinking about that. And it sounds like that you
don't have that creepy stalker voice. What I've been outside?

Speaker 11 (58:53):
Do you winder?

Speaker 1 (58:58):
Okay, sure, all right, we'll be back more of the show.

Speaker 11 (59:06):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, Merry Christmas. From the

Speaker 12 (01:00:12):

Speaker 1 (01:00:15):
That word for anybody. But here we go, Dallas Up
America two O five five three zero one thousand. Yesterday
we had we had big winners yesterday, had had quite
a few of them. Congratulations Just Shannon Aaron one hundred

(01:00:35):
and fifty dollars on one shot, Andrew Adams one hundred
and fifty dollars in the Burgess Ball Challenge, Lance Moody
one hundred and fifty dollars on the Burgess Ball Challenge,
and Celeste Cody won one hundred dollars because she texts
the right word and was in the random drawing. Right now,
it is three questions know the show? Wow, that's what

(01:00:58):
we're doing. First, we have not announced the word to
text yet, but Will haven't done it yet, so you
haven't missed it. Uh, So here we go. Man. Uh,
you have a particular number of caller today that we
would like to go to. Think. Uh, here we go.

Speaker 6 (01:01:17):
First thing, Michael Jordan twenty three, Baby yea, let's.

Speaker 1 (01:01:21):
Go Michael Jordan's George twenty three? Yeah, baby, Okay, why
do you think about Michael Jordan's.

Speaker 6 (01:01:27):
It's a good number, it is. He just won that
suit against Nascar.

Speaker 1 (01:01:31):
Okay, well you're I was more thinking about what the song.

Speaker 6 (01:01:34):
Are we going to sing? While Rick Rick counts, Oh.

Speaker 1 (01:01:37):
Yeah, we can do that here?

Speaker 6 (01:01:40):
Okay you started.

Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
I don't know if here we jag it. Yeah, guys,
the phones are going absolutely.

Speaker 6 (01:01:45):
But you could just do taps speedy. You just performed
taps because you're in military.

Speaker 9 (01:01:48):
That's true.

Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Much funny. There's one, two, three, four, five, eighteen. Yeah
that right there?

Speaker 9 (01:02:09):
What is it?

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
That was twenty right? So twenty one twenty two. Hello,
welcome to the Rick Burgers Show. What's your name? Where
you're calling it? Rail?

Speaker 9 (01:02:18):
Jeff from Cresview.

Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
All right, Jeff turned the radio down pretty big. I'm
working on it. Pretty big moment for you right now, Jeff,
we go, kid, Hey, you gotta kid, Jeff gig here's
fine checking it in. So in Creshview, Florida, how do
you get the.

Speaker 9 (01:02:33):
Show YouTube and radio or the tune in out?

Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
All right? So we're waving waving at you right now
if you're watching on the tube. Uh, yeah, do you
think my sweater is orange or red? It's not burn orange?
Clearly red.

Speaker 9 (01:02:47):
Yeah, I'll go burn orange probably what.

Speaker 1 (01:02:50):
Yeah, you're a winner. And what's your name again? Jeff? Jeff? Okay, yeah,
all right, Jeff. Here we go question number one. Know
the show. This is for one hundred and fifty dollars.
Are you ready?

Speaker 8 (01:03:06):
I'm ready.

Speaker 1 (01:03:07):
My mom prefers Greg to take her to buy groceries.

Speaker 19 (01:03:10):
Why because he'll let her look at the boat Bogos.

Speaker 1 (01:03:18):
That's part of partial part. There's a number of reasons.
What's what would be the overall reason why she would
not like it? The Bogos is one of them. Yeah,
And I think I'm okay with partial credit here because
that is one of the reasons.

Speaker 9 (01:03:33):
He doesn't rush her.

Speaker 1 (01:03:37):
We go, okay, all right, so I'll start here. So
that's one hundred and fifty dollars for you. He doesn't
rush her is kind of what I was looking for,
all right. So you can you can keep that one
hundred and fifty dollars and say I'm not going on,
or you can say I'm going for three hundred.

Speaker 8 (01:03:54):
I say, let's go for three hundred.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
If you miss this, then all money He's gone. Okay,
so we're not banking it all right? Here it is
where I'm talking looking for city and state. Where does
Larry the patch guy live? Oh?

Speaker 17 (01:04:12):
Oh oh.

Speaker 9 (01:04:16):
Georgia?

Speaker 1 (01:04:17):
Yeah, correct, what city? Speedy went there and spent the night.
Greg and I stopped by there mathel in.

Speaker 8 (01:04:27):
Persia three, making.

Speaker 1 (01:04:33):
It not far from the city. But I am so sorry.
Good there it went. He had one fifty and said, nope, wow,
man look for the gold. Made his mind up. Wow, wow, Wow.
What's a tough one. Well, yes's tough one. But if

(01:04:54):
you pay attention you would know that one. We talked
about it a lot. Adler pulled up maps on the city.
It was a big part of the show. Yeah. Yeahs
just showing out there so they don't have the pressure
that so do I do? I give that one now
to Yeah, it's it's Dublin, Georgia. See doublin. It was
more memorable because we all think of Dublin. We do

(01:05:16):
Dublin Georgia. Yeah. Now, I would stay with the bad
news for him is that he lost or not? He
lost all this he did he did back to that.
The good news for the rest of the audience. That
means that they're still cash in the bank, that you
have a chance to win it. In another part of
the show to Dublin, Okay, oh yeah, sure, I'm not done. Yeah.

(01:05:37):
I hadn't even given the text word yet. You haven't
hooked them, so for that was tough. He had a
good phone. He did sound a little bit sleepy, but
but but doublin, he was all around it. Yeah, he
was in Georgia. And again this is called know the
show three questions so so so then when we do
it again, it'll just be one question, could be could

(01:05:58):
be one question, I could I could come up with
two more or make or make Greg shoot or make shoot?
Could be one shot? Bless they're hard if that happens,
Can I take you have a coaches shirt on? Yeah?
You know what I've I've noticed on the shooting, hurt.
I've noticed on the shooting that that every single one
of us, I mean we're not far off, I mean

(01:06:19):
around the rim, even when we miss, we're there. Yeah
and Greg, oh thanks, Yeah, And I'll tell you the
guy who won the one fifty. Of course, he hit
the ceiling going for good fingers and lost everything. He
had a sweet touch, but but he just went too high.
The ceiling is an issue because nine shot. The ceiling
almost makes it impossible impossible. Said almost have a basketball.

(01:06:42):
I bet Speedy hit it right now. Yeah, I want
you to shoot five nine to nine right now? Uh huh,
that's the that's just shooting. Listen if he does, Adams
got a kiss, mister, I already did that. Yeah, what
did I tell you? What did I tell you? I
said almost, But I drilled it, by the way, if

(01:07:03):
only somebody, of course they would have stopped earlier. But
you know what, you never hit nothing? Why today about
she did this? About maybe that's why you did it?
How about this? You never know? We may have somebody
come on and when I say one shot, it's one
shot for five ninety nine.

Speaker 16 (01:07:20):
You know what?

Speaker 1 (01:07:21):
That better not pick me because because I didn't say
that every time. Yeah, so.

Speaker 6 (01:07:28):
That's really impressive.

Speaker 1 (01:07:31):
We all know that.

Speaker 13 (01:07:31):
Well.

Speaker 6 (01:07:32):
I mean, you drilled it from like twenty feet away
just now.

Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
I didn't think about it. Yeah, no money on the line,
by the way, I just did it. Just think about
disappointing the listener. I didn't I didn't have I told
you about the letters stream Man. No, No, it's Kevin
going back to hold Man, You're close. In my particular dream,
I don't know why.

Speaker 3 (01:07:55):
I was.

Speaker 1 (01:07:56):
I was riding and it was it was not a
burnt orange okay, it was a red truck and Kaylyn
de Bor was at the wheel. You and what is
the weird coach dreams? See coaches riding around with him?
And I noticed that, Yeah, for some reason, I'm I'm
wearing nothing but boxer shorts. But uh, and I noticed

(01:08:18):
it that I'm like asking him to turn the heat
up because it's getting cold, okay, and and uh and
he looked over at me. He said, well, yeah, let's go.
We're in Michigan, okay. And uh And I was like, oh,
I thought it was under it. Yeah, and and and
then I looked at riding in the back seat. And
I look over in the back and Lane Kiffin is

(01:08:40):
in the back and he's got on the visor but
it's Crimson, And I'm like, what does he got a
Crimson advisor? And those are on L S U S
color purple yeller. Yeah, So I don't know what that man.
It probably meant nothing, no, because you're in Michigan. And
then for some reasons. And next thing, I look, we're

(01:09:02):
both at the fishing for Walleye and late mister and
do it pretty good. And on the other side of
me for some reasons, kid Rock.

Speaker 21 (01:09:10):
Can't so all right, slim shady, where's he in the car?
But I'm sure, I'm sure man, that's not We'll be
right back stack.

Speaker 11 (01:09:20):
CAUs this is the Rick Burchers Show, from all of
us to all of you. Merry Christmas from the Rick
Burchers Show.

Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
Okay, well we had a shot at the winter there
it didn't happen. That means Christmas cash and old Saint
Rick bag of cash still on my shoulder wearing my
red sweater.

Speaker 20 (01:09:53):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:09:54):
And we will be giving you other opportunities today to
try to see if you can't find that cash. Here
is the word that you need to text us today.
I've got the word for you birds. Please will you
hurry with the word. I'm going to be late for work.
I don't want to miss the word. I'm in the shower.

(01:10:14):
I don't want to be in the shower and miss
the word. I need to get ready. All right, here's
the word. Here's the word that you need to text today.
The word the word is rich R I c H
I want to be rich. Rich is the word text
that eight eight eight six two four four eight six
nine eight eight eight the number six big vox a

(01:10:38):
big box. So text that word rich is the word.
So share that with whoever you need to. I will
caution you again that Tube City and the Tube Bird
chat room not overly reliabel, and they will try to tricky,
not all that reliable in there rich number of that

(01:10:58):
liner we used to have on Bank nine about rich
we got Obama? What was it? Oh, yeah, we ain't
rich like y'all or something, but one day we will
be thanks to Obama. Something very strange. What were they wrong?
Howard Stern? Yeah, you know Howard we kept hearing was out.

(01:11:19):
Howard has turned into the strangest of all strange. He
he's been a recluse, afraid of dying, of COVID steel
or something.

Speaker 9 (01:11:29):
He was.

Speaker 1 (01:11:31):
Howard Stern appears to be afraid of everything except the
fires of hell, so that he has no fear whatsoever.
But the described here in the story is a radio icon.
Hard to argue against that, no matter how you feel.
And you know, his movie about how the radio industry
works was spot on. It really was so Howard Stern.

(01:11:55):
You know, for a while we thought he was out
he because, uh, Serious x was not going to sign
him up at the at the figures he had been getting.
But it looks like that they have announced and they
have that they have figured out a way to get
a deal done with Howard Stern. So he has he's

(01:12:16):
extended three years with Serious XM. He said, do you
realize he's been with Serious XM for twenty years? Wow?
That's crazy. That doesn't feel right.

Speaker 9 (01:12:28):
Does it?

Speaker 1 (01:12:28):
Twenty years? Twenty years? He doing both before? Just yeah,
I think he was doing both. Then he just went
all is that No, I can't. I don't know. He's
just donet seem like a many years. I thought, Greg,
you came up with a great point about Sterning. Like
I said, I don't listen to him, and I don't
think I ever really have. I saw his movie because
it was about radio, and I was interested in seeing that.

(01:12:50):
But part of his allure was that people he was
on terrestrial radio and he was saying things you can't
say on the radio, or he's gonna get in trouble
for saying that. And then when he went to the
satellite world where you can say anything you want because
it's not regulated by the f c A, I mean

(01:13:11):
f c A, the U f c C f f
c A doesn't regulate it either, but the FCC. It's
almost like he lost a little bit of the edge
because how many more times can you say yeah to
me personally? When he was a guy, I know, because
something he dealt with FCC so much huge stuff, and
I know it was a hassle, but those days when

(01:13:34):
there was no limits, I mean when there were limits
and he would test the fence, Yeah, those were his best.
Now he can say anything he wants to, and I'll
be honest, a lot of times they go on. It's
you know, and plus and now he's become kind of more.
You know, he used to make fun of you know,
celebrities and stuff like this, and now he really sucks
up to him and right, you know, he wants the
big interviews, right, you know, he is.

Speaker 5 (01:13:56):
One of those that Jimmy Kim will also be in
one where they're past hasn't gotten them canceled.

Speaker 1 (01:14:02):
Yeah, that's true. And what they've turned into is kind
of weepy and soft and not edgy at all, you know,
and really they just sound like they take the easy road,
and then what they're doing now isn't bold at all.
When we were canceling people, well I say we weren't.
The public was canceling people. How he survived because you

(01:14:22):
could go back at the time, you know, I mean
he was black face, and I'm not saying that that
he should have got I'm saying but during that run
we had where everybody was getting fired over something they
did thirty years ago. At the time wasn't even offensive.
That he survived, it was amazing.

Speaker 10 (01:14:38):
Well he walked the line. Yeah, you know that, he
walked the new line, followed all the rules. We saw
him interview Biden. That was just embarrassing. Biden could barely
talk and Howard Stern was just gassing him up the
whole time.

Speaker 1 (01:14:50):
No, you're right, so he said, he's happy to announce it,
and he figured out a way to have it all
more free time and continuing to be on the radio. So, yes,
we are coming back for three years, he told the
listeners during the last show of twenty twenty five. And
you know he only works what three days, three days
a week, and now he's going less right, and now

(01:15:11):
he's off work already to the first of the year,
so he even takes off more time than we Christmas
in the summer. It seems like, yeah, so so any anyway,
so so there you go, those of you that care
about that. As far as the industry, it was an
interesting story, it was. Yeah, and he's interesting guy. As
far as the industry, yeow yeah man. Yeah, And how

(01:15:33):
it's pretty funny when he gets to talk about when
he first got started, how bad he was. Oh no,
all that's fun I mean the movie he had, you know,
there was a little bit of yuck in it. But
as far as his life against with program directors and yes,
and how him you know, the things he went through
in radio, all those things. You know, Bubba and I

(01:15:54):
talked about those things for many years. We all went
through those exact same things. Don't look for it. I
got his I got his age. If you had to guess,
what would it be. I think he's seventy four. That's
a good guess. Yeah, I was going to say the
same thing. I would say seventy six. He's seventy one.
Seventy one, okay, so he's only ten years older than me.
See if y'all noticed, I lost all concept of how

(01:16:16):
old people are. Yeah, I don't understand people's age. I
had him like sixty seven. I didn't have him in
his seventies. Do you think he's like six years older
than me? He's older than that. I didn't know. I
just guess. Yeah. So yeah, when he's come on up
late night in all he was funny. No. Yeah, but
but he's lost that no now, And aver just said,

(01:16:37):
and you just said, the guy that was supposed to
be the anti establishment guy became establishment. I hate to
say it, it was only the clown becoming the man.
He has a lot of the celebrity guests now the
typical liberals. But I think a lot of what he
did to change was to so he wouldn't get canceled
back to what y'all said and then COVID because he

(01:16:58):
was so weird and freaked out by that. He really changed.
So we're really changed. So strange. Now, the two guys
he has that still do the prank calls, which is
hard to do nowadays. There's only this one group that
they call all the time when they swap shops. Those
two guys are funny. Okay, See, I'm not familiar with
they they're still able because you know, the prank call
thing kind of was taken away. Yeah there there. I

(01:17:19):
don't know, maybe it's stage. I don't know. It didn't
sound like it. But there's like a trade yo. They
call it. It's a trade days, different shows and they'll
call in. Did I tell you did? Did Mom tell
you that I got that that bunch stopped calling her? Yes,
that you jumped on there and like they kept calling
Mom over and over again. It was some typical scam
thing telemarkers, and I finally I said, Mom, hem me

(01:17:40):
your phone. They tried called her again and I answered
as Dickie and went through an entire conversation with him
as Dickie and they have not called her back. It worked,
do you know? You know that's what That's where the
Dickie Nadmar character was born. Is me dealing with telemark Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 8 (01:17:54):
You do.

Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
You know that the latest iOS update twenty six or whatever.
I know you don't like it, but if you if
you go and you click on apps in systems and
then go all the way down to phone that you
can hit a button, uh and to see I want
to make sure I got it. You can hit a
button that says uh yeah, like uh when it unscreened,

(01:18:17):
like I'm not unscreened, but no caller I d calls
coming in. It will send a text to them before
and ask them who it is before.

Speaker 1 (01:18:27):
It ever rings, and if they if it's a bot
call or a scam or a telemarket or whatever, it'll
scream the call for you, yeah, telling me that last
thank you asking yeah yeah. And that's very helpful on
wasting time on these calls. Rick, that is good. Yeah,
if I can just get through it, going through the process.

Speaker 11 (01:18:50):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:19:01):
Welcome to the Rick Birch Show. Broadcasting from the real world.
We's Speedy, Gregg Addlering, Rick Burchers.

Speaker 6 (01:19:10):
Book up from there, cuts time.

Speaker 2 (01:19:12):
Pull the show.

Speaker 1 (01:19:13):
Who's ready to go? Who's ready? Welcome to the Rig
Burgess Show.

Speaker 4 (01:19:18):
Broutcasting from the real came in in real Baby, Speedy,
b Reggy.

Speaker 11 (01:19:22):
Addler, and Rick Burgers.

Speaker 1 (01:19:23):
Book up from there, cuts time pull the show. All right, So,
as you heard, the gang is all here. We thank
you for being here today America. Merry Christmas, everybody. Welcome
to the Rick Burgess Show. All right, So we did
not get a winner, we've already given out the word
you need to text for Christmas Cash today. That word

(01:19:45):
is out there, so text that we'll have a winner
at the end of the show. We do want to
remind you that we also have been playing for Christmas
Cash already today and the person decided to go for
the three hundred dollars question did not get it after
winning one hundred and fifty, So now all the money
back on the table another opportunity before the show is done.

(01:20:08):
Yesterday's text winner was Celeste Cody, so she got one
hundred dollars for listening for the word and then texting
it in and she was randomly drawn from the thousands
who did so, and she won one hundred dollars. Also,
yesterday's Shannon Aaron, Andrew Adams, and Lance Moody all won
one hundred and fifty bucks. So will your name be

(01:20:28):
on the list today? We shall see. As we move
forward on the program, more opportunities will be presented. The
number is two five, five three zero one thousand Winsday
Bible Study Back today, final one of the year. It
will be a Christmas message as we'll study things from
Luke Chapter two and other parts of scripture on exactly

(01:20:50):
what took place that we as Christians are celebrating, and
we'll go deeper to the reasoning behind all that and
some other pretty interesting things that scripture teaches us all today.
So you have that with you wherever you go traveling.
And then if you miss the deadline for ordering something
out of our store, not to fret the store with

(01:21:11):
a great idea. They're now offering you gift card options
and they can get those two you in about twenty
four hours. So so gift cards for the Rick Burgess
Show store to the Rick Burgess fan on your list.
That will work as well.

Speaker 16 (01:21:25):
We do.

Speaker 1 (01:21:25):
Let's let's jump into a little hay Burge action. Here
see what we got from the people. Hey Birge, hay Bird,
here we go. These are emails coming from you. If
you want to be considered, just put in the subject
line hey Birge, and then you can, you know, possibly

(01:21:47):
have your email read on the program. Let us know
if you don't want it read. Here's one a listen
to the podcast that's yesterday's show archive that is on
our podcast channel. And remembering when I was little, my
brother went to Baylor, they canceled all classes for Luke
and Laura's wedding. That's fine. On General hospital? Was that

(01:22:08):
General Hospital? Yep? And a lot of places I remember
were closed. So Adler, you asked, was it as big
a TV moment as we were portraying? There's you an example.
She even uses the same one that you're using. This
was also the same things that took place when Jr.

Speaker 11 (01:22:27):
Was shot.

Speaker 1 (01:22:28):
They did that again. Crazy and of course no church
services ever in Texas this part of Texas. Texas interrupted
a Cowboys game. I actually thought that we had moved
there when I was three so I could be a
Dallas Cowboy cheerleader for Danny White. How about this, that's funny.
She said, I'm fifty, by the way, speedy, and I

(01:22:50):
still have a piggy bank. Okay. That was also thank
you for keeping us all entertained. It's been a great year.
That's from Anna, all right, So does not want their
name used? Hey Bird, hay Bird, you saw that? Yeah, well, yeah,
the PS. I'm glad I read the PS. Hey Bird,
hay Burge. I need to call out some folks out

(01:23:11):
there trying to be sharp, as I just cannot understand this.
I actually live in the Birmingham area listen on ZZK
and my kids are at the ages where I have
several schools that I get to participate in the drop off,
so I get a good dose of morning local traffic.
I started to notice something, not just in the carpool lines,

(01:23:32):
but simply driving down the suburban side streets and neighborhoods.
A growing trend of mostly moms drinking their morning coffee
but in traditional ceramic, open top coffee cups from the
kitchen cabinet. Not only does this seem like a nightmare,
giving the speed bumps stopping going, in the overall functionality,

(01:23:54):
there's no way that their coffee stays hot more than
a few minutes. I understand the favorite mug at your
dead car our back porch, but in the car, where
in the world do you put it? Well, I can
tell you where. Not in the cup holder, because that
handle is gonna keep that from happening. Are they holding
it on the steering wheel while they're driving? I guess
that's okay. I'm not telling anyone outside of drive, you know,

(01:24:16):
like Greg, I just enjoyed calling folks out, just trying
to be sharp. Further observations on what the show what
the show needed, so that I did before bringing this
to you, fellows, he said, I now can report this
has now also spilled over to the moms who help
in the car pool line opening doors for kids. They're
holding coffee mugs, cold coffee, slashing around. I also see

(01:24:40):
the school resource officer. A man sets one down on
the side of the road so he can take a
little pop off of it in between peak traffic times.
Probably has pictures of his kids on it. But this
is twenty twenty five. You could be holding a cheap
insulated mug that holds twice as much and it would
stay hot for hours. I don't underst stand this, and

(01:25:01):
it won't spill. I'm convinced that I'm watching people compromise
their morning coffee just to look sharp. Unacceptable for men
to join in. Even my grandpa was able to get
one of those old truck stop insulating coffee mugs in
the eighties. I don't even know why this is bothering me?
Should it be? I listened to the old show from

(01:25:21):
from nineteen ninety four when I was fourteen years old,
and I'm continuing on with the show, and I guess
I see the world through the burgess brother glasses. Should this?
Should this bother him? Well, I will admit that it
does seem odd, doesn't me admit something? Okay? Every day
on my way to work, I have a thermist like

(01:25:41):
he's talking about, mug whatever. Yeah, screw on top. Although
I screwed the top off the drink out of it.
I don't because it's it's too hot. It burns my
mouth that little hole, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
I don't like that either. So you do that like
a rattler cup or a yetty or straight up thermist
like your dad. No, like a Stanley. Okay, But I
screw the top off of it and let it air out.

(01:26:02):
And if I'm at home now, if I'm in the house,
I drink a tradition of course, of course. And let's
say it's an off day or after hours before whatever,
and I'm drinking out of that. At least he goes, Hey,
when we're out of whatever, could you run down and
get it. I'll take it with me. I'll refill it
and take it with But isn't true. I can't get
that to fit in the cup hold. Well, I tried
that one time. It was a disaster. It's hard, but

(01:26:25):
I've got one that does because the cup holder's got
a slip between them. It does. You put the well
that may help you if you think some people have
if it comes to round though, Okay, Frick and I've
told this story our father. I know, I don't know
how he did it. I know, a straight shift three
on the column, unbelievable, nowhere to set your coffee. Now
he would get a regular coffee mug and drive to

(01:26:48):
work every morning and somehow not spill it. The day
that I thought he was true, the true day that
I realized that he was a man, that no one
was like him, when he was drinking out of the
top of a thermost no top on it, driving three
on the column, and then the other hand smoking a cigarette.
Oh yeah, I thought, my gosh, what in the world.

(01:27:08):
But I will, I will venture out. I don't prefer it.
But if I, like say, if I'm in the middle
of a coffee, I got my cup, yeah, I'll feel
this up and take it with me. Can I ask
you guys this? I know you do have some of
the cups have been running, got a wedge them in there?
Do you know? I never really do well with the
coffee on the go. I just don't do well with it.
I struggle. I can't ever make it work well. I

(01:27:29):
finally got the perfect I guess, the right size where
I can get a good bit of coffee in it.
But I also can leave a gap at the top.
That's the key. So once you don't have that splash up. Yeah.
Did you notice, of course, Greg, you weren't able to go,
but hopefully you'll get to go this weekend. Did you
notice at one time I didn't think this was right.
I'd like to get a ruling on you guys. I
found myself a little bit lazy. I found myself using

(01:27:52):
throwaway coffee cups at camp House and it bothered me.
Do you notice last time we went all mugs and
we just were just put them in they But but
it seems like if we're sitting inside camp house, we
should all be drinking out of straight up muggs. And
plus I got all these muggs with all these great
sayings on that's true. I'd rather don't have to wash,
rather be hunting. You know you got one. I'd rather

(01:28:13):
be hunting.

Speaker 6 (01:28:13):
Out of solid I like big Bucks, and I cannot lie.

Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
Right bearded that's a great one. And this one's just
got fishing lures on it. You know, one's just got
big deer on it. Okay, you know, And all those
are just sitting in there going why aren't you using us?
And drinking out of a true mug is a better
coffee experience. I like big Bucks, and I cannot lie. Yeah,
that or was talking about that one. That's a great one.

(01:28:38):
So so to me, it's worth us having some mugs
to wash for us to all be drinking out of
straight up. Jagree with that.

Speaker 22 (01:28:47):
It is.

Speaker 1 (01:28:48):
It is the lazy, easy route less clean up is
the disposed of me just to throw aways tastes, but
it does not taste as good. It doesn't. And what
I don't get is what this guy's mad about. But
if you're out there directing traffic, car pooling drop off,
there's so many. I mean, I don't know about y'all.
At home, we have a cabinet that has so many

(01:29:10):
keep your coffee hot types of there's so manylie, I
can't even imagine having another one. If we had another one,
I wouldn't know where to put it.

Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
I agree.

Speaker 1 (01:29:21):
And we got too many regular coffee mugs too, we
got miles of them. When you got a cup and
you've lost the top there, Yeah, I'm just want to oh, yeah,
which one fits? Yeah. I will say this though, on
road trips or going somewhere, it does keep it hot. Now, no,
it does not too hot so much. Yeah about the way,
I can't do the put the top on it, little hole.
Can't do it. I learned you can't do it.

Speaker 11 (01:29:42):
We'll be right back. This is the Rick Burdgess Show,

(01:30:02):
making cents of it all, the Rick Birger's Show.

Speaker 1 (01:30:07):
That's our job and we're here to do it. That's
our job. Welcome to another Rick Burgers show. We're winding
down two and a half shows remain as we continue
on for the year, and then back Lord Willing on
the fifth of January to start year number two of
the Rick Burgers Show. Have you been going to my

(01:30:28):
pillow dot com slash big vox. You need to go
there right now. I mean, you talk about a huge sale,
saving big, big money on some great gifts bed sheets,
bath and kitchen towels, slippers, socks, coffee. We just talked
about that, kids items, blankets, clothing, I mean huge and

(01:30:49):

course that will be free shipping. You also get one
hundred dollars in digital gifts from my pillow dot com

(01:31:13):
eight right now you go there. We've got blankets, comforters,
duvets as low as twenty five dollars. So go to
my pillow dot com slash big Vox, or just go
to Rick burgesshow dot com under the sponsor's button. Well,
during this beautiful time of year, you always have these
people that are you just like I mean, want to

(01:31:34):
be on the naughty list. They're gonna steal. Hey, they're
gonna porch pirates. You porch pirate people. You're living in
a time you gonna I mean, youre gonna get stuff shot. Yes,
and not only that, I don't know if steal in
somebody's you know, whatever they've ordered is worth getting shot over. Yeah,
what's the gain on these cameras? Now?

Speaker 5 (01:31:56):
Where you know you're gonna be identified. Sure, it's going
to tired. NBC News reported last night the number of
packages stolen from porches each day. Now, it doesn't say,
is it just us?

Speaker 1 (01:32:13):
Whatever? It just says, doesn't know, It just says.

Speaker 5 (01:32:16):
NBC News reported last night that blank packages are stolen
from front porches each day.

Speaker 1 (01:32:23):
What do y'all think that? Now?

Speaker 16 (01:32:24):
Is?

Speaker 6 (01:32:24):
Is it worldwide?

Speaker 14 (01:32:26):
Is it just does?

Speaker 1 (01:32:27):
It doesn't say.

Speaker 5 (01:32:28):
I would probably think it's just this country because it
doesn't say internationally.

Speaker 1 (01:32:32):
Uh, just it just that's what they report. Ten ten,
I would say, and one day and you made speaking
mad with that, ignored me. And one day, gosh, there's
three hundred and thirty something million people. Of course that
would include you know, a million. That's a good good,

(01:32:53):
that's not a bad guess.

Speaker 6 (01:32:54):
I was going to guess a million a year.

Speaker 10 (01:32:57):
Uh so whatever a million divided by three hundred sixty
five is okay.

Speaker 5 (01:33:02):
I know that Greg hates to guess things. Yeah, and
you're pretty bad at it. Yeah, two hundred and fifty
thousand day.

Speaker 1 (01:33:13):
I agreed with him. I moved on with him. I
was gonna go with three hundred thousand, So I mean
a year a.

Speaker 5 (01:33:20):
Day, two hundred and fifty thousand a day just stolen
for porches each day, a day, a day a day.

Speaker 1 (01:33:30):
When you when you just one time? I look, I'm
not promoting violence, but wouldn't you just if there was
any way possible just to grab somebody trying to steal
something off your porch by the hair of the head,
drag them out to the side, kick them into the ribs.
I mean, just I guess I am promoting by yeah,
you can kind of are how about this? Don't steal
from people? That's right? Speaking of that, he was tired

(01:33:52):
of it.

Speaker 9 (01:33:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:33:53):
An Amazon driver is being accused of something. An Amazon
driver dropped off a package at a home in California
and then took the cat from the front porch and
from the home. He's called the cat porch pirate called
on camera and so you know what, I like to
have that kid. This is Diane, the cat owner, talking

(01:34:14):
about what she saw. She couldn't believe it.

Speaker 23 (01:34:17):
Me it's me okay, I thought he was just petting
her for a second. I had to rewatch it a
couple of times because it is hard to see. It's dark,
and he doesn't carry her very nicely, and I see
her little tail, and I'm like, oh my god, I
couldn't believe what I was seeing.

Speaker 5 (01:34:31):
And on the on the video, it does show him
walking back to well, I guess his vehicle, and he's
kind of holding it around the chest and kind of
out in front of him a little bit and he
just takes the cat.

Speaker 1 (01:34:43):
Does he leave with it? It appears as though he does,
and according to the owner, he did. How about that?
That's crazy? And now ABC seven he's just showing some
b roll here of so he goes up we're watching
right now later apparently petting her cat, Piper. Moments after that,
you can see the driver carrying the cat away by

(01:35:04):
the scruff of its Oh okay, what I thought he was.

Speaker 23 (01:35:07):
Just petting her for a second, But yeah, I kind of.
I had to rewatch it a couple of times because
it is hard to see. It's dark, and he doesn't
carry her very nicely, and I see her little tail
and I'm like, oh my god.

Speaker 1 (01:35:21):
Wow, So he just is gone. See's gone. Until she
got on this, I thought to myself, this is that
service I've been thinking about. You know, I was going
to do one called dog Gone And if you had
a problem at my house. You didn't. You didn't want
you when you were a kid and your wife to
get upset with you. But you need the dog to

(01:35:43):
be gone. And then we come by and we and
suddenly the dog is just gone, and uh, and we
take it to another place and give it to another owner.
And so I thought, well, this is that service. This
guy's doing a two for he's delivering the packages and
removing an unwanted pet. But apparently this woman wants him
unless now we didn't hear her husband get interviewed. No,

(01:36:03):
if she has a husband, yeah, and you don't. You
don't hear him saying anything. Now he's got to do that. Like,
can you believe the Amazon driver chick or cat away?
What are you kidding?

Speaker 16 (01:36:13):
All?

Speaker 22 (01:36:13):
Man?

Speaker 1 (01:36:14):
You're like, I told him to get out in front
of the camera. Maybe I told him to get around
inside of the house.

Speaker 5 (01:36:19):
Maybe he's selling the cat. Maybe there's a you know,
underground market of of animals where you're selling them.

Speaker 1 (01:36:26):
I don't want to get anybody upset to a restaurant.
It's the Amazon driver Asian. Okay. I'm just throwing out
all kinds and putting out all kinds of possibility follow
every lead, I'm telling you the General's chicken. You know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 10 (01:36:41):
Oh yeah, it did look like a fancier cat, so
maybe he's thinking, hey, this is nice.

Speaker 2 (01:36:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:36:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:36:49):
I couldn't tell it because it's a little grainy. I
couldn't tell how he was carrying it.

Speaker 1 (01:36:52):
But then it look like a Siamese cat. What's the
big I don't are they really going for a big
number out there?

Speaker 6 (01:36:58):
Some cats are expensive, by know how much?

Speaker 1 (01:37:00):
Is this a dad who's he's Amazon driver? I don't
know how they're paid. Is he just some kind of
my kids are getting a cat for Christmas? I mean,
I don't know an adult cat for Christmas. I know
that's exactly cat Burglar. There it did. Yes, our speaker
are saying the cat's going after him too many times,

(01:37:20):
he's done with it. That's possible, So I looked it up.

Speaker 10 (01:37:25):
Around seventy million packages are delivered every day in America,
so if two hundred and fifty thousand are stolen, that
means around ero point three percent of all packages are strolling.

Speaker 1 (01:37:35):
Wow, I'll be right back. Stay because.

Speaker 11 (01:37:40):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The first year of

We have not had a winner yet today on the

(01:38:30):
maybe more than one, but we our first contestants struck out.
We have announced the word you need to text today
when one hundred dollars there, So if you miss that,
ask a friend. Speedy seems to be ready to defend
someone here. What's happening? I want to get y'all's feedback. Okay,
you sound like you're by the way on the cat thing, Speedy,

(01:38:53):
something your kids would never know. But uh huh, a
friend just text rag doll cats. I don't know what
they are. What's a rag doll cat? Rag doll cat?

Speaker 6 (01:39:03):
My mom has one?

Speaker 1 (01:39:04):
Does she? Okay? Wow, they're going for twenty five hundred
dollars and he says, ask me how? Ask me how
I know. Mm hmmmm, wife and daughter have two oho?

Speaker 10 (01:39:15):
Oh wow, yeah for one of my I forget one
of my parents big anniversaries. My dad surprised my mom
with the rag doll cat.

Speaker 14 (01:39:23):
What is it?

Speaker 10 (01:39:24):
It looks like it's just like a white cat with
blue eyes, but they're very fluffy, they have longer hair.

Speaker 1 (01:39:29):
Okayy wh you gets all over everything?

Speaker 6 (01:39:31):
And if you're into that thing, I guess that's a
very attractive cat.

Speaker 2 (01:39:34):
Hat it is.

Speaker 6 (01:39:34):
It is a very pretty cat, and it is actually
a really nice cat.

Speaker 1 (01:39:37):
You do you like the cat?

Speaker 6 (01:39:38):
I do like the rag doll cat?

Speaker 1 (01:39:40):
Okay? Would you like to have one?

Speaker 6 (01:39:41):
I don't want to have it?

Speaker 1 (01:39:42):
Okay, all right, count it. Let me look here, all right,
let me run down. I'm trying to look for uh,
Siamese kittens. How much they're going for? Mhmm about rag doll?
Then let's see here, here's pure bread. I don't know
if this was a pure bread.

Speaker 6 (01:40:01):
I kind of want one of those seven hundred bucks.

Speaker 1 (01:40:04):
Oh those are creepy, no fur, no, no shedding. Yeah,
but it looks like a lizard.

Speaker 6 (01:40:10):
You get matching tattoos, and you can name it.

Speaker 1 (01:40:12):
You can name it. You can name it Speedy.

Speaker 3 (01:40:13):
Yes.

Speaker 19 (01:40:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:40:15):
By the way, I got Siamese kids here at seven
hundred bucks. Wow. Okay, yeah, okay, so I don't know
about a full grown one. Uh So anyway, uh so
updated on that Speedy. But you're you're, you're you're wanting
to you think somebody's being mistreated here.

Speaker 5 (01:40:29):
What I know it is uh a lady that has uh.
I think she's an influencer, so there's a little bit
there for that. But she has talked about, uh she
signed up for her church's Angel Tree.

Speaker 1 (01:40:43):
Oh yeah, yeah, and go out there and give gifts
to people that won't you know, get gifts right and uh.

Speaker 5 (01:40:49):
And she's being criticized about where she went shopping for
uh for gifts and uh. She says that she's just
been pelted online.

Speaker 8 (01:40:58):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:40:59):
And here's her voice out of my my channel Rick
about her describing some of the back.

Speaker 22 (01:41:03):
For the past twenty four hours, I have been relentlessly
harassed from buying off brand colored pencils for an Angel
Tree gift. She wanted arts craft, skincare and McDonald's. I
purchased what I thought I myself would have enjoyed at
her age, and the internet felt that I did not
spend enough time or money and has certainly let me know.

Speaker 1 (01:41:21):
She shopped at Dollar Tree and there it is, so
you oh, she didn't get in the freezer. What do
you think Calvin Speedy Wilburn would bring to the Angel Tree? Well,
and we've done us. And is the Green Stamp store
still out there? How about even the less fortunate are
praying that speed you won't draw there. Hey, you need
to stop Rick Hope Pully, don't get to be speedy

(01:41:43):
bunch of stickers again. I believe, I believe the church said, hey, look,
let's land in between the fifty to eighty dollars range.

Speaker 5 (01:41:51):
She spent sixty five dollars. That's so she felt like
that was she failed rarely within she spent fifteen dollars
on a McDonald's gift card and then she got some
other stuff. But she was really being criticized because the
colors were plain, they didn't have you know people and
people have just been raking her online. Facing a wave

(01:42:16):
of backlash because of where she shopped in the in
the fact that what she bought didn't have logos on
it or whatever, so they shamed her. She went back
and bought a I think a one hundred and fifty
dollars set of crayons.

Speaker 1 (01:42:29):
Good, great crayons for one hundred and fifty bucks. What
are we talking about? One hundred or fifty the crayons
in the package? Yeah, in the pack, I should say. Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:42:42):
And so the question is is should she be raked
over the coals for shopping at Dollar Tree?

Speaker 1 (01:42:46):
Well, sounded like she gift.

Speaker 5 (01:42:49):
So people live out in Rule America and the Dollar
Tree is the closest thing to them, I know.

Speaker 1 (01:42:54):
In one noteed she post herself on her social media
here I go to this angel Tree, I guess, because
why we do that? Either?

Speaker 5 (01:43:01):
The content creator responded to haters and she she was
sitting there describing what and showing what she got. But
she purchased Dollar Store brands for her child's Angel Tree list,
and everybody was criticizing her for where she shopped and
the type of the type of items she bought.

Speaker 1 (01:43:19):
It can't be nice, somebody. Yeah, well as we everybody's
saying now, and I agree, don't post online what you're doing.
That's true too. Yeah, you got to realize there's idiots everywhere.
All you're doing is jumping round in the middle of
why do we have to when you go to take
care of something on the Angel tree, keep it to yourself. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:43:36):
Her video detailing the fallout and how she handled it
drew about eight hundred and forty six one hundred thousand views.

Speaker 1 (01:43:43):
As a floor. Oh there he goes again. I want
everybody feel so orry. All right, let's let's take let's
take away the obvious. Don't think people don't do that.

Speaker 8 (01:43:54):
They do.

Speaker 1 (01:43:55):
Yeah, don't post on public platforms what you're doing that sacrificial, okay,
or that you're helping people. You really don't need to
be posting that at all. Yeah, let's take that off
the table. Is it bad form to buy off brands?
Are really cheap stuff for people in need? Okay, don't laugh.

Speaker 6 (01:44:16):
It's just as long as you're buying stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:44:19):
Now, So she did buy an additional speed fifty pack
of Crayola pencils. And now a lot of people say
the off brands they do break easier, you know, and
you probably that's not one area. And I know this
is going to sound shocking. This is not one area
where you try to go. You try to save money,
you buy them nice things. They deserve that.

Speaker 1 (01:44:41):
Speedy, you know. She said McDonald's too, So Speedy probably
took some of the some of the River's old toys
of heavy mail. You know, look at it, and I
thought about it, all right, got a whole bunch of stuff,
you know, Greg Speed to bring your old pack of
cold fries they didn't eat. Yeah, there you go, here's
some apple slicing. Speed just say that he didn't want

(01:45:01):
Nicolin die when that, I mean, you're buying it's the
angel is in it, right, So you think angels got
a little better, But people are better taste? Was his showing, Well,
people are a child, Well if if that child's not
gonna get any pencils. I know a lot of people
that go the Dollar Tree to buy sycle supplies for

(01:45:21):
their own kids. So it's not some bad things. I
will say this.

Speaker 5 (01:45:26):
I mean, you shouldn't be dealing telling where you go
and get stuff anyway. But I would think if it's
a nice big bag and it's everything that's on their list,
and that's where you win, you know whatever. But apparently
people were dogging her for buying the off brands.

Speaker 1 (01:45:42):
A dollar Well, you know what, I don't know she
has any kids, but if it's good enough for your
own kids. It ought to be good enough for anybody, right,
you know. Yeah. Also, when you think about things that
are gonna you know, be used and be done with,
they're not gonna last forever. Probably a good place to
try to make some savings. Not maybe for the need,
but I'm for your own kid, you know, that's not.

Speaker 6 (01:46:04):
My house is full of the free crowns from the
grocery store.

Speaker 10 (01:46:08):
If you put those with the angel tree, that's probably
not good, you know, yeah, four pack, you get it
in the grocery.

Speaker 1 (01:46:14):
Yeah, it's a weird brand. By the way, is it?
Is it okay for him? Because I remember this to
leave the restaurant with the crayon they gave your kid
for the colored stuff on the kids mean you? I think,
so are they giving that to you? You know? So
let's turn those back in, al right? I think, yeah, Well,
I remember when they put that thing down. You couldn't

(01:46:34):
get on that table quick enough. Please bring me the
little cartoon thing anything on the on the child's meaning
pre thank you for that crayon.

Speaker 6 (01:46:42):
You know, I'm giving them a butter knife to play with,
which I probably shouldn't do. You right, something else?

Speaker 1 (01:46:48):
Now that's it? So? Uh, I would say a couple
of lessons here. Don't be posting online things you're trying
to do that really should be done in private, right.

Speaker 24 (01:46:57):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:46:57):
And the fact that anyone out there is waiting someone
to post something like that. To be critical of it,
you need to get life as well. Yes, both ends
of this spectrum needs to work. Agree. Yeah, I don't
know why anybody cares, But like I said, when we
started developing a system where people could remain anonymous and

(01:47:17):
say anything about you on a public platform they want to,
we really open the door for cowards. It's a very
fertile coward field, it is. We'll be back. More of
The Rick Burgess Show continues right after this.

Speaker 11 (01:47:36):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. It's time for the
most dangerous ten minutes in radio, unscreened phone calls called
no two O five five please zero one thousand and

(01:47:58):
get on the show.

Speaker 1 (01:48:00):
Here we go to five as ken Osman just told you,
five three zero one thousand.

Speaker 4 (01:48:07):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:48:07):
If you're just joining us, we'll go through these unscreen
phone calls. That means nothing between you and us but
airwaves and opportunity. We make decisions on the fly and
it leads to quite a daredevil. Move here as we
the host and the show over to you, the audience,
without anything screening you before you come to us. We

(01:48:31):
must decide in real time, always fun and try to
bring something to the table if you wouldn't mind, maybe
maybe a couple of things that might be interesting conversation. Uh.
So there you go the two five, five, three zero
one thousand. If you hear the phone rigging, then you're
in and the lines are filling now. So also reminds
you Wednesday Bible study. We'll be back today, the final

(01:48:54):
one of the year. Uh and we will be talking
about what scripture says about what we're remember bring this
time of year, the birth of Christ and all involved.
And so we'll cover that today and you can have
that with you over the holiday break. Uh And then
of course another Strange Encounter is coming out this weekend
too that also will be the final one of the year.

Speaker 4 (01:49:16):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:49:16):
So our final show of the year as far as
live shows. Friday, during the Rick Burgess Show Christmas Party
to the phones, we go, Hello, you're on the Rick
Burgess Show. Unscreen phone calls go ahead.

Speaker 12 (01:49:28):
Hey guy, I just want to give the listing audience
a PSA text word of the days.

Speaker 1 (01:49:32):
Do thank you, buddy. We haven't used that one yet,
but not a bad idea. Rick Burgers Show, unscreen phone calls,
go ahead, what's going on?

Speaker 9 (01:49:41):
Rick?

Speaker 8 (01:49:41):
Hey, buddy, how was the jerky the other day?

Speaker 1 (01:49:45):
It was really good? Thank you for that? That was
really good. Did you share? I did not. I did not.
It's remaining, it's remaining at camp house.

Speaker 8 (01:49:55):
Oh you still got something left?

Speaker 1 (01:49:58):
Oh yeah, yeah, we're gonna We're gonna heit a little
bit of it today. Oh it's Jimbo. What's up, Jimbo?

Speaker 9 (01:50:03):
What you doing up?

Speaker 8 (01:50:04):
I just taking the CPL need I have a have
a little bit moller left.

Speaker 1 (01:50:08):
Now, we're good. We also have a bunch you know
that we brought in from the deer we killed h
early in the year, so we got plenty of jerky.
But I appreciate that. It was great to meet you
in person too. Thank you very much. It was very
kind of you. And one of them is a little spicy. Yeah,
that's the one Taylor like zero don until he got home.

(01:50:29):
Rick Burdger's show on screen phone calls, go ahead.

Speaker 9 (01:50:32):
One of guys, We're good.

Speaker 1 (01:50:34):
I hope you're well.

Speaker 9 (01:50:35):
Good, plush. I've always wondered, uh Rick, when Greg first
joined the show, was there ever a moment where you
second guess your thinking, guest your decision on letting Greg
join the show?

Speaker 1 (01:50:51):
Yes, many times, you know, And that's the funny line
on serious note. No, Uh, I need it was going
to be gold. Uh the audience I thought would respond
and uh and I knew who would deliver. And of course,
you know, this is something we've been dreaming about doing.
You know, for a long long time. We played in

(01:51:12):
bands together and we loved being able to, you know,
be part of the entertainment business, doing it together. And
so when that opportunity presented itself and don One wanted
to move on to other things, I knew, I knew
and felt that it would work, and so did Babba
and and it has worked. And it is a blast
a bible do that every day. Now. Have there been times,

(01:51:33):
you know, I'm afraid I have to ask him if
he you know, we about to rumble? Sure, yeah, a few,
But we've been we haven't physically falled in Oh, it's
been years. It has been years, I mean so yeah,
I think it was nineteen ninety nine. Yeah, probably it
was the last time and we it went a bad one. Now,
it wasn't a bad Now we were kids. We had
some good one. Yeah, I think it was at the

(01:51:55):
ninety nine. Was just a dust up. Oh that's a
little dust up.

Speaker 13 (01:51:57):
What was it?

Speaker 1 (01:51:58):
All the ground real quick and then get tired. Who
is it? When mister Lucky said, okay, that was it?
We thought over stormy weather, we did, sure did. In
the garage. I didn't like Greg. Now, now we were
a studio. That's where Mark Phillips student. That's right, that's right, Greg.
Greg got a little high mighty about stormy weather. I
don't know what it was. Uh, well, it funny and

(01:52:18):
we were having about it. Yeah, we heard the whole room.
We continue Rick Birders show on screen phone calls go ahead.

Speaker 14 (01:52:28):
He readed a little bit of sad news this morning.
Did y'all hear about Christina Chambers, the Sideline High School reporter? Yes,
she worked with w Yeah, did y'all hear about that?
I hadn't heard you mentioned that. I didn't know if
he was going to he or not. But that is
so sad. I met her. I live up here by

(01:52:49):
Wallace and I met her, and she is the sweetest person.
It's just so sad. And Greg she worked at Thompson
High School too, so so.

Speaker 1 (01:53:00):
Tyler actually told me his room and her room were
across the hall from each other. Yeah, so I met her.
We did.

Speaker 18 (01:53:06):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:53:06):
They would have us on to pick some scores, me
and Rick during the season every year, and we we
went and she was kind of in charge of the
students that were running in and everything. And she of
course you see her in the sideline report at Super seven.
Very nice person. Horrible thing. Yeah and yeah, and what
those of you out there don't know what he's talking about.
It is it's and there's been some many sad stories lately,

(01:53:27):
it seems. Yeah. Uh but apparently according to what police
are saying, uh, that she has been murdered.

Speaker 3 (01:53:35):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:53:35):
And uh it was a dope. It was a murder suicide.
Uh that involved her husband. Uh and they have a
three year old child that was not harmed, but horribly
was in the home. So and this was someone who
worked as a sports reporter in the Birmingham area and
then went on to work at Thompson High School and
uh and all that. So so sad, Yeah, yeah, super
nice person. Like I say, I met her when we

(01:53:58):
were doing the pick the show pick. Oh yeah, we
go every year, you know, and she'll be there and
then i'd see it at that's Super seven and that's
just hard. Wow, Yeah, that is that's a that's a
just you can't there's just so much. It seems like
there's so much, and we don't want to bog down
on it. But at the same time, we also don't
don't want to beseem uncaring about it. But you know,

(01:54:19):
it just it seems like we hear something dark like
this all the time, just one after another, and and
it seems to like I say, like like when we
did on Strange Encounters, I've had people ask do you
think there's more evil, twisted, dark, demonic stuff happening now?
And I'm like, well, I don't know, because I wasn't
here for the entire history of the world, and I

(01:54:42):
saw in Genesis six where God killed everybody but eight people,
So sounds like it was pretty bad then. Uh, But
as far as my lifetime, as long as I've been
on the earth, yes, I do think it's the Uh,
there's more darkness and wickedness right now than there has
been in my lifetime.

Speaker 20 (01:54:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:54:59):
So so there we continue. Rick burgers show unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 8 (01:55:03):
Go ahead, Hey, I'm gonna go back to Adler's breakdown
the other day.

Speaker 1 (01:55:08):
Okay, good and ikes just saw uncomfortable but sure, and.

Speaker 8 (01:55:12):
You know.

Speaker 19 (01:55:14):
I happen it happened so close to him turning forty.
Is that a coincidence? Is that something I need to
look forward to?

Speaker 1 (01:55:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (01:55:23):
You Seeah, definitely, No, you know, you just look for
markers in your lives and how to avoid these kinds
of things and that kind of stuff. Honestly, I've been
just very worn down and I'm you know, I'm thinking
back to like, all right, I need to be looking
for these types of markers. Oh and something I did
not mention is I have fallen off of exercising very much,
so and I know this about myself. I am a miserable, grumpy,

(01:55:46):
impatient person if I am not working out very very
hard at least three you know, three times a week
is very important. So all men that are listening right now,
it's incredibly important for me and my brain chemistry and
how I feel about everything to work out very hard.
And I had fallen off that for probably three months.
That's not a good place to be. And like I said,
I'm looking for other markers. Uh, just the last like

(01:56:09):
almost almost month in church, Like while I'm singing, I'm
getting like teary eyed and things like that, and you're
just like, all right, buddy, Yes you love God, and
yes you're very happy to be in church with your family,
and yes you are close to God, but you're probably
tearing up because you're exhausted.

Speaker 6 (01:56:24):
Also, you know what I'm saying. So you got to
look for these kinds of markers. Protect your sleep.

Speaker 10 (01:56:28):
I read something today that show he O Tani, probably
the greatest baseball player ever, sleeps ten hours a night.
So that's my new goal. And I'm gonna I'm gonna
I'm gonna go pro is what I'm thinking, is gonna go.

Speaker 1 (01:56:38):
With half of that first.

Speaker 10 (01:56:39):
But exercise and sleep we're out of my life and
out of proportion. And so no, it's it's still very
I'm still very embarrassed by it. I don't you know,
I don't recommend that for anybody you know at all.

Speaker 1 (01:56:50):
Well, this is one of those downsides to things that happen,
you know, like I told you, and everybody's life at
some point. The problem is our job, which you can
actually it can happen to you on a microphone, you know,
I had one of those. Like I told Yae when
Sherry made the decoration on talking about sleep deprivation that

(01:57:11):
dates on Friday nights, We're no longer going to be
suggested because I got like that, I got the ranting
and rolling on something late, you know, on the way home,
and she was like, you're not even this is not
even reasonable right now right? And then I was like, oh,
she goes, Oh, you've been up for twenty hours.

Speaker 11 (01:57:25):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Merry Christmas from The
Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 1 (01:57:39):

excited for him.

Speaker 25 (01:58:25):

Speaker 25 (01:58:34):

Speaker 1 (01:58:47):

gonna drop no, okay.

Speaker 19 (02:05:47):
So it was to give me that that wasn't that long.

Speaker 1 (02:05:50):
Two semesters is a full year? Well, I guess it is,
but you know what I mean, I don't think he
got through that last semester. You may be wrong. Yeah,
I don't start going he was around for two semesters,
he did not attend. But that's a technicality. So we're
gonna let you have it. We're gonna let you have that.

(02:06:11):
So so don't appreciate that. Yeah, are you gonna hold
right there?

Speaker 18 (02:06:15):
Go for it.

Speaker 20 (02:06:17):

Okay, holds pretty smart, probably smart, damn. Okay. So I'm
gonna ask the question though, just just to see if
you would have won. Okay, you're you got your three
hundred and you're not gonna win. But this is you
knowing whether you would have won or not like that,

(02:06:45):
then you have to live with it. Okay, are you ready?
And the and the question, let's let's hear it. The
question was, so the dog you know that I the
last dog that I that I owned and gave away?
What was what was its name?

have lost.

Speaker 1 (02:07:11):
Well, I'm so glad the dog's name was Buddy. Yeah,
and I also have a dog gets computed. But really
what Greg's dog is actually named mister Budster, but that's Buddy.
But to know that was a thousand dollars? Yeah, okay,

three hundred dollars. We'll be back. And then also we
had a one hundred and fifty dollars. Winter James from Alabama, Yep,
James wins Wade wins name four, one hundred and fifty bucks.

(02:07:55):
We gotta have one hundred to give away.

Speaker 11 (02:07:57):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. He will likely be

(02:08:17):
the new CEO of Cracker Barrel Thrick Burgess.

Speaker 1 (02:08:25):
Just sitting here basking and the joy of giving out
Christmas cash. Congratulations, folks. So we will try that again tomorrow.
But if you got the word that we set the text,
you should to be texting that you could win one
hundred dollars. That's still gonna happen a little bit later

(02:08:47):
on in the show, so as well as we'll do
that random drawing. By the way, awkward moment. I don't
know what my problem is. I really don't, and I
keep having these moments and we all do. So we
cut up a lot on the show. Everybody agree with that. Yeah,
And so we start what we do for a living,

(02:09:09):
so early in the day. There's a couple of hours
that we get the building pretty much to ourselves. I mean,
this entire building. It's a commercial building, and so you
get in your mind that when you go to the bathroom,
you know, which we've documented this year is a journey

(02:09:32):
that anybody coming in is one of the guys. Okay,
because that's pretty much the case for a couple of hours. Yeah,
there's no one else here. But that's not always the case. Rick,
So I just had the terrible it happened, awkward, awkward, awkward.

(02:09:52):
I'm standing at the urinal door open. Somebody comes in
behind me. I don't look. I think it's one of y'all.
I see that you're headed to the stalls. I said, oh,
try to squeeze one in. No you did, Yes, I did, Yes,
I did without look, without even look at all. Won't
try to war one in real quick. And and I
saw the door shut, and I'm like, why speedy not
give me either? Because I thought it was you for

(02:10:14):
some reason, Rick, I was in there and uh and
and then I hear the trying to find James, the
mad flushing and all of that, and I'm like, it's
not one of our guys.

Speaker 6 (02:10:23):
No, it's not one of them.

Speaker 1 (02:10:24):
They didn't reply. No, they didn't say anything. They didn't
know what to do. Oh no, they scared him. Yeah,
I probably scared him well, trying to squeeze one in. Hey, buddy,
oho something Sorry? So sorry about that. Whoever you are,
you're once you leave the studio doors here, you're really
an over greeterer. Yeah, reckless out there you are from

(02:10:46):
Sweet two hundred to the bathroom. Any interaction, I don't
hold a candle to you. I had a Sweet two
hundred situation last year. I mean yesterday, not last year. Yesterday.
Guys out there and he's like searching. I'm pard of
there's some search feature. Yeah, And I said, hey, hey,
you do not search that. I tell you where it is.

(02:11:06):
And he goes really, And I said Sweet two hundred.
He goes, no, no, actually no, And I was like,
you're talking and then I'm then I'm stimied. I said,
I just keep searching it. Yeah, you know, I'm sweat.
I'm a Sweet two hundred. Yeah, that's about all. But
I can tell you right there, I can take you
right to it.

Speaker 6 (02:11:24):
You know where.

Speaker 1 (02:11:24):
That's not where I'm going. That's okay. Well you're on
your own. Sorry about that, man, you didn't know that
had a search feature. I didn't. Well, I guess you've
never let anybody get to that.

Speaker 16 (02:11:33):
No.

Speaker 1 (02:11:33):
No, I'm usually always take them right with any to
go and and thank them for their service. Yea, even
though there's many organizations up there, not just veterans. True. Uh.
And let's take a look at Gary Busey here, what

a great Christmas pressure for you.

Speaker 1 (02:13:35):

let you know they're up there.

Speaker 1 (02:13:48):

geese together.

Speaker 26 (02:13:54):

why I shaved my beard. It looked like he is. No,
I got rid of it. I got something for what
I mean, that's insane. Oh they're all like I not
noise wise, but his the camera's just always right there. No,

(02:14:52):
not watch the one I said he didn't have a glass.

Speaker 10 (02:14:54):
He does not have a glass, but his distinct distinctive
facial appearance come from the nineteen eighty eight motorcycle accident.

Speaker 1 (02:15:01):
Tough eighty eight.

Speaker 10 (02:15:05):
He chose not to have it led to my mild
cognitive impairments. Okay, some behavioral control issues. Uh, changes in
his appearance, but not a glass eye. But he has
chosen not to have reconstructive surgery as a reminder of
drugs effects is what this says.

Speaker 1 (02:15:21):
He needs to remind he's teaching John's what he's doing.
But if he needs a reminder too, he can just
play this video back from him. Yeah, that's that's Christmas
gold right there. Well he said it was a president,
Yes he did. Let me say this, it was Let
me say this, Gary, that was a present and all
like that to say. And I've never been so thankful

(02:15:42):
to see somebody sitting on the passengers side of a vehicle.
So there it is, guys, there's a Christmas gift that
is unbelievable. Yeah, he said, he said, he said, learned
to let others drive. Unfortunately Joe Biden was driving. We'll

Speaker 3 (02:18:20):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:18:21):
We keep talking about some of the things that that
are out there and trying to get some updates on
actual stories that are going on. UH still have not
brought in the shooter from the Brown University. We we
keep seeing these various UH security footage on him. But

(02:18:42):
Greg and four A here Adler, We got four A
and B to update on this story. Greg, I'm just
go ahead and tell you this. On the first video
that we're showing, I'm just gonna ask you to stand
down really well, because there's someone doing sign language. No no, no, no, no,
here you go. I meant to bring this up. I've
watched these. I'm sorry and they give me the Hey man,

(02:19:05):
if we can't if we got to look at that,
let's just I can't listen to what the person's saying
because I can't quit. Oh, this girl's ns but did
you see the guy looks kind of evil? Listen. They
had to ball head a guide the day before, big
big forehead. Yes, yes, today we got close cash and right,
let's use it. There's and then people go, well, they
got to be animated. I don't think they do. You

(02:19:27):
don't think they have to be not to that point.

Speaker 6 (02:19:29):
Okay, lady's animated.

Speaker 1 (02:19:31):
Oh my goodness. Okay, try to listen to what he's saying.
You won't hear a word. You will be concentrating on her. Well,
they're not saying much already, so we got.

Speaker 27 (02:19:41):
To say it again. There's no footage that depicts this
individual that would be useful in identifying him. That we
have not released you, and I think you can tell
from frankly the not very helpful quality of the initial
I'm watching her greg Our standard is pretty low if
we if you thought it was an all helpful, we
would have have and will release it.

Speaker 1 (02:20:02):
Sorry, I don't know who's benefit from that, and I'm
not sure if it's try to go with the words
and see the signs. I don't know what. Do you
think she's just making it up? We had that? Yeah,
but do we go? I wist see how many real
funny faces I can make watch this? Does she have? Listen?
There was a guy that was at the same conference

(02:20:24):
the day before and he was wow, is that big
four hid?

Speaker 2 (02:20:27):
Yes?

Speaker 6 (02:20:27):
Yes, so people were complaining that he really didn't know
what he was even talking for.

Speaker 1 (02:20:33):
Had that before some Mandela's funeral? Yes, his forehead is
so big he didn't have to wear a hat. Guys,
I'm looking and I know they're supposed to do it,
and I'm gonna get the emails about it. I'm sorry
that that that I can't. I can't listen here he
is no no, he gouts said, soup covers good. Don't
say that it means he's got big lips.

Speaker 11 (02:21:02):
You look, look, look, release look cracking.

Speaker 6 (02:21:07):
Look, look y'all, it's a lot.

Speaker 1 (02:21:10):
It's a lot of how I think the females worse
now that I look at it. How about this? She's like,
what I mean, come on, I don't know what. I'll
talk to you tomorrow, y'all. Don't y'all don't agree. That's distracting.

Speaker 7 (02:21:25):
It can be.

Speaker 1 (02:21:26):
It's sad it's such a serious topic. But yeah, but
they do distract. That made me forget about it. Greg
is blaming the person doing sign. I think that they
for him being not sensitive about the topic or the
fact that there's people that need this. I think it's hindering. Greg.
You're doing it too for you know what it's doing.
It's hindering the people trying to solve this case because

(02:21:48):
there may be somebody that could help that saw something,
but they're so concentrated on that they forgot Greg.

Speaker 6 (02:21:52):
Well, they need all the help they can get it.

Speaker 10 (02:21:54):
The Brown president, the police chief, every There are a
lot of press conferences in which people are asking very
basic questions that they don't know the answers to, like
what was happening at the school that day? Why were
they there six hours after this incident. Right, the Brown
president didn't even know. This is footage from inside. No,

(02:22:19):
it's actually footage from outside. Just basic errors in the investigation.

Speaker 6 (02:22:24):
It's not floppy.

Speaker 1 (02:22:26):
It's almost like you want to ask them, have you
ever been to the university?

Speaker 20 (02:22:29):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (02:22:29):
And here's one you have in four b here Adler
the reporter asked why didn't the siren emergency system go off?
And the answer is just bizarre.

Speaker 5 (02:22:39):
It's the whole thing is embarrassing, to be honest with you,
it's being handled.

Speaker 9 (02:22:44):
Sure.

Speaker 13 (02:22:45):
Do you believe that Frown had the precautions and safety
measures in place before the shooting that were appropriate and necessity.

Speaker 16 (02:22:53):
I do, and in fact, I'm glad you mentioned the
sirens because I think there's been some misinformation about that.
We have two security systems that we can activate in
a time of an emergency. One is a system that
sends out text messages, phone calls, emails, and it was
activated within minutes of the incident. Those messages went out

(02:23:16):
to twenty thousand individuals, so all alerts. We also have
a system of sirens. There are three sirens placed across campus.
Those get activated when there is a broad scale emergency
and we want people to rush into buildings in the
case of an active shooter, activating that system could have

(02:23:38):
caused people to rush into Barris at Holly. So that's
not a system that we would ever use in the
case of an active shooter.

Speaker 6 (02:23:47):
So here we go, just to follow up.

Speaker 10 (02:23:51):
It does say on the website when it was launched
Ansburn active shoot.

Speaker 6 (02:23:56):
It does say on the website.

Speaker 1 (02:23:57):
I heard that.

Speaker 6 (02:23:58):
It does say on the website.

Speaker 1 (02:24:00):
Don't you think. Don't you think before you answered the
siren question, you would go, hey, y'all, talk to me,
what's our policy on sirens? Somebody said what our website
says in the case of an active shooter, will sound
the sirens? Oh does it? She gets up there and
apparently doesn't know that. Yeah.

Speaker 9 (02:24:17):
No.

Speaker 5 (02:24:17):
And the noise you could hear if it was audio only,
is that that lady over there?

Speaker 1 (02:24:21):
Okay, you're gonna start him again. No, this one's on you.
Y'all had some good points I made, but I don't
know any of this one right here. This second discussion
is I'm gonna watch that video of my granddaughter, Okay,
bring me back, which, by the way, I want us
to watch. So we had to do that. I don't
know that she I don't know that. They, like you,

(02:24:42):
tried to work through it and I like it. Maybe
setting them up right next to the person's shoulder to shoulder,
maybe that's it. Let's let's have them off to the
side with a little box, like have just a footage
of this. That's the way they used to do it, remember, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:24:58):
Because I mean, obviously the hearing need to be able
to hear or know what's going on, you.

Speaker 1 (02:25:04):
Know what I mean. Well, they're saying that most people
that are hearing impaired would not be able to read English.
Close captions are written in English. They don't know English.
They just know sign language because that's their own language.

Speaker 6 (02:25:18):
That's not accurate. People know how to read.

Speaker 1 (02:25:20):
I'm just saying, what what what? What the text are
saying saying my daughter is uh, let's say interested. What
is it saying? All I'm saying is and it says
that my son in law is deaf. Every time a
sign language is their own language, it's not word for word,
it's not even remotely the same. A lot of them
would not know the words on the screen.

Speaker 6 (02:25:41):
Okay, I think deaf people can read, y'all. I'm sorry,
all right.

Speaker 12 (02:25:46):
I just.

Speaker 1 (02:25:48):
Somebody said, scientist, we're not against death and we're not
against interpreters, and we're just saying sometimes they're so Now
the blind have had a hard time here. Yeah, they're
so distracted, distractive. It's just like it's tough to pay attention.
I mean, it got to be around up, says my
daughter is an interpreter. I try not to. Does she
get all cranked up like that?

Speaker 7 (02:26:06):
Lady?

Speaker 1 (02:26:07):
Oh, Greg, I don't know. I'm I heard that's a
requirement that that you're you're supposed to do that. So
I'm just saying something and that may be a good
reason to do it, but I'm just going to be honest.
I can't concentrate on what's going understood, That's all I'm saying.
And back to what's in that point really important, and
that is how in the world this this shooter just

(02:26:28):
got away and out and gone. And there's very little
footage that claimed this this halls and old halls that
has nothing to do that. You can have great footage
in old halls that has nothing to do with it.
There's all kinds of video cameras around campus. It's like
he knew where to go, how to act. He shows
up on a weekend to a class. If you're a

(02:26:48):
mass shooter, don't you go to a big part of
campus and and open fire, which is awful, didn't think of.
But you're going to a weekend study class. It's like
it was a tar of somebody in the class. We'll
be right back, take a show.

Speaker 11 (02:27:07):
This is the Rick Burgess Show from all of us

(02:27:29):
to all of you. Merry Christmas from the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 9 (02:27:40):
So we're back.

Speaker 1 (02:27:42):
Thank you all for your your feedback, and thank you
Greg and the update that we just got on the
Brown University horrorable situation. It is just bizarre the way
they're handling it. It's almost like they they're afraid to
say anything that might offend, and once again, worrying about

(02:28:05):
offending people seems to be taking precedent overseeking justice for
people who are murdered in cold blood. But so we'll
see where this ends up. You know, Adler mentioned something
about somebody on the on the website, but now we
won't get into all that if they're not talking about
that yet, Adam, But I thought that was an interesting
point you were making.

Speaker 10 (02:28:24):
Yeah, there's a person that went to the school as
a palace Free Palestine activist uh, and their pictures and
profiles have all been scrubbed from the Brown website.

Speaker 6 (02:28:35):
And the physical.

Speaker 10 (02:28:39):
Physical characteristics of the footage that we saw of the
shooter that the FBI have has released to me they
are close, uh, kind of a more portly kind of
person that we saw and so that may that may
be a lead. And then witnesses also reported some words
that the person was the shooter was shouting yeah, and

(02:29:00):
Brown police and officials have refused to elaborate on that
as well.

Speaker 1 (02:29:05):
So Ander, also, I'm looking at video two. What in
the world is there a movie coming out next year
about the first Lady?

Speaker 10 (02:29:15):
Yes, and it's from her, at the releast she was
involved in it. She tweeted out Milania. Trump tweeted out Milania.
The film is exclusively in theaters worldwide January thirtieth, twenty
twenty six.

Speaker 1 (02:29:31):
And the movie's about Milania correct her story, how she came.
It's a documentary. What is Yeah? What do we got here?

Speaker 10 (02:29:39):
I think it's like some behind the scenes documentary stuff
trailer if you want to say.

Speaker 1 (02:29:44):
We'll look at her some of this.

Speaker 11 (02:29:45):
Here here we go again.

Speaker 1 (02:29:52):
Showing highlights.

Speaker 6 (02:29:53):
Oh wow, MGM, yeah.

Speaker 20 (02:29:56):
You can come in good.

Speaker 15 (02:29:57):
One of them will be that peace peace.

Speaker 1 (02:30:03):
Well, she just show up.

Speaker 8 (02:30:04):
Say that.

Speaker 6 (02:30:06):
Waitness a lot of behind the scenes, witness history in
the making.

Speaker 11 (02:30:15):
We'd like minded leaders, we have a voice.

Speaker 9 (02:30:21):
Is it safe?

Speaker 1 (02:30:24):
A lot of okay okay. Uh so it's uh, everyone
wants to their sons tall let me.

Speaker 16 (02:30:37):
Hi, mister president.

Speaker 15 (02:30:39):
Congratulations.

Speaker 20 (02:30:41):
I did not Yeah, I will see it on the news.

Speaker 1 (02:30:44):
Yeah, see it on the news. It's like our wives show.
It's just kind of bizarre, it is. It feels a
little strange. Of course, you know, what's your exactly. Some
people were asking to us too, and I saw all
the text to day. I'll tell you who did not
direct it, and I'd be Rob Runner.

Speaker 24 (02:31:00):
Uh that.

Speaker 1 (02:31:02):
That that that wow? We and we had the audio
earlier we never got Somebody was asking today, what what
do you guys think about the president's response to Rob
Ryner's murder? And I thought it was but he needs
I know he's not coachable, but.

Speaker 14 (02:31:19):
That was horrible.

Speaker 1 (02:31:20):
I mean, you talk about just and to me, that
one is so elementary, you know, it's just so elementary
that if if somebody's been you know, slaughtered, you know,
in cold blood by what's apparently looks like and they
have charged him with it. We'll see their own son
who's had issues. It really doesn't matter how they if

(02:31:46):
they've been mean to you, they've said bad things about you,
they oppose you politically, under no circumstance is it ever appropriate? Uh,
I mean that he should have just said, Look, I
know that we were a political opponent, so I know
he certainly didn't vote for me and and had some

(02:32:08):
negative things to say about me. But in this moment
that it really doesn't matter. What's happened to him and
his wife is a horror. It is a tragedy, and
it's heartbreaking that this would take place, and we are
as a country and me as a human being, are
praying for his family and all associated with this. It's

(02:32:30):
just a horrible thing that that would have been fine.

Speaker 13 (02:32:33):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:32:34):
The just the lack of the understanding of some of
the things he said and made clear that he didn't
like him, and you know, start talking to him about
him having Trump Duranne syndrome. You know, that's just not
the time. Just but but this, I guess the thing
that that can So you're just playing into the hands

(02:32:56):
also of those people who want to portray you as
being heartless, unfeeling, a dictator, a narcissist, you know, all
those all those things there there that you should be,
America should be afraid of you. Uh not, you know,

(02:33:18):
and all that is is ridiculous. But when you do
things like this, you just hand all those who oppose you,
and they're just going to play those clips over and
over again pointing out to how heartless and cold you
sounded and you portrayed yourself. And really it's it's if
for no other reason, I know, you can't be re elected.

(02:33:38):
If but if for no other reason, you know, you're
you're hurting those that are going to be following you
in the same party and trying to carry on the
things that you have done that have been good for
the country and good for the world. You're you're you
got to think bigger then you've got you're mad at
somebody because they were mean to you. You you you

(02:33:59):
gotta be to look beyond that. And and I know
that's hard as human beings, trust me, I know very
all full well. But in that one I didn't even
think that was a hard one. Now you know that
that sh that should have been a very easy you
know what to do right here, don't you, mister president?
Of course I do. I'm not going to say anything

(02:34:21):
other than this is a horrible thing, because it is
a horrible thing.

Speaker 3 (02:34:24):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:34:25):
And though I disagree with Rob Reiner on a lot
of things politically and and and morally, I also have
to acknowledge that I have enjoyed his work and and
enjoyed him as a human being. I found him to
be entertaining. I found his work to be very good.

Speaker 9 (02:34:43):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:34:43):
And I think I could carry on a conversation with
him and and have a good day with him, you know,
even though we would disagree on a lot of things politically,
and disagree on some of the things that he allegedly
you know, was was you know, the allegations he made
about the president. But in that moment, yeah, like you
said that, that's not hard. I mean, that's not even

(02:35:04):
a I mean, you shouldn't be you should be you
know kind. If they died, they lived a long life
and died of old age. But the way they were
killed and the situation they were killed in, it just
calls for clear thinking and and just some grace. Yeah,
you know, and uh, and it was just I thought

(02:35:26):
he handled that horribly. Yeah. Yeah, it was disappointing. Yeah yeah,
I don't think there's any any going Oh yeah, you
can't make it. He did the right thing that now
he did. He didn't handle that well at all. Yeah. Uh,
top of the hour. We'll be back. Much more to
do on the program today. We'll hear from you. Somebody's

(02:35:49):
gonna want one hundred dollars of Christmas cash. There're still
one hundred dollars laying around.

Speaker 16 (02:35:53):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:35:53):
If you uh, if you got the word and text
it in, uh, we'll see.

Speaker 11 (02:35:59):
This is the Rick Burchers Show.

Speaker 1 (02:36:14):
You better listen up. You know what we say, assign
you gotta find.

Speaker 11 (02:36:28):
Broadcasting from the real world, The Rick Burchers Show.

Speaker 1 (02:36:34):
Uh huh, here we go, America, coming brand new hour.
We thank you for being with us. We will chat
with you again this hour. So that number is eight
eight eight. No, it's not brick not anymore. It's two
O five five three zero one thousand. There you go,
two O five five three zero one thousand, and we'll

(02:36:54):
hear from you again before the hour is done, and
have a text winner letter two. We've already cranked out
five hundred bills. So that's already happened, and there's one
hundred dollars still to go, So that's coming up later
with those of you who chose the text option and

(02:37:17):
speedy Greg Adler all here. As we wind down, guys,
I mean, we're getting down to the end. We are
getting down to the end. So after we finished this hour,
two shows will remain, can y'all on't but two? Can you?
Can you believe? Can you go back? Go back in time?
We are it would have been coming well, actually we

(02:37:37):
did it earlier last year, so we would have already
done it. But if we just go with the same
last day of the year, we're all at camp house
and we're talking about coming back and starting the new show.
Does that seem like that's been a year? No, because
it has been a year. Wow, do y'all remember that
us sitting around down there, hunting, talking, doing tell us

(02:38:00):
from the camp house, trying to get a plan things
we're gonna try and do this year, and wow, blink
here we are, blink here we are one year. That's uh,
that's been that's that's been kind of a wild rod. Yeah. Yeah,
So so anyway, we we look forward to uh, reminiscing
with you guys on the Rick Burgess Show Christmas Party.
We already know that Gary's coming. Hey, I mean I

(02:38:23):
just want to ask you. You want me to come
up every Friday? And I was like, I was like
yeah yeah, And he said hey, now, hey, now that
I got you on the on the phone, because all
I got was the typical Gary text call me now.
Gary's text me no. No, Gary's text has never been
more than two words never, So call me could be

(02:38:46):
a pop is burst, the camp house is flooding? Be
the same two words hey, call me. It could be hey,
what are you doing?

Speaker 4 (02:38:58):
Man?

Speaker 1 (02:38:58):
Just calling you?

Speaker 6 (02:39:01):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:39:02):
Well, how was the show today? Oh okay, so we're okay,
we're just catching up. Okay, yeah, drug man? How was
your day?

Speaker 13 (02:39:09):
You know?

Speaker 1 (02:39:09):
And it could be anything in between.

Speaker 9 (02:39:10):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:39:11):
I mean, it's never any more than the two words
call me. So I call him, he said, hey, hey,
let me ask you something. Somebody says he knows you.
He's contacted me. I'm like, oh boy, here we go.
He's telling me, Hey, he watches me on you know.
Apparently Gary has a really good following when he does

(02:39:32):
his cooking. He cooks things. Okay, that type of stuff
takes off, right, and until he gets better self service
from Lake Mitchell. I teld him, I said, just stop
calling me from Lake Mitchell. Let's say here we be going. Hey,
you know what I talk and I'm like Gary, and
that's what I think. And that's the whole thing. Are
you at the lake? Weeah, I'm down here like Mitchell,

(02:39:53):
and I'm like, I can get get back until self
service gets better. There, we just got it. We got
a text something.

Speaker 8 (02:40:00):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:40:00):
He doesn't like the text. He wants you to call it,
I know. And sometimes you just can't talk, I know,
and he doesn't understand that he doesn't And so apparently Greg,
of all, you know how you're just not what You're
not prepared for what's happening. Next, I start thinking, who
who that I know would care about Gary's cooking videos,

(02:40:21):
and hey, you know, he's telling me I need to
get with someone to monetize them. To what I said,
I'm sorry that monetize them? I said, you said monetize them, Yeah,
you get money off of them. Yeah, I know. And
I said, I don't know what to say about that. Gary,
I mean, that's that's it's a little more complicated than
you want it to be. We've we've even found to
be complicated. So he eats a lot. He said, well,

(02:40:44):
I don't know. I don't know who this person is.
You know him? And I said, what, you haven't told
me who it is, so I don't. I don't know
who it is, so you And then he he comes back,
He goes, hm hmm, you got an idea? Who Bruce
harmon Is? I said, well, yeah, I played footballer breaches
and I don't know why he's concerned about your videos. Years. Yeah,
he lives in like Pensacola. Yeah, yeah, I chan Bridge

(02:41:07):
gonna have Gary out. Watch what I said, Gary? Does
he you have a does he have an agency or something?

Speaker 7 (02:41:13):
No?

Speaker 1 (02:41:13):
He just says I need to. He couldn't believe I
cooked something today had ninety seven hundred people watch it.
And I was like, what, Gary, I don't I don't
know where are we going with this? Ain't ninety seven
hundred people watching? And I was like, where are we
headed with this? I mean, are you? I don't. Would
you agree that this is kind of your world?

Speaker 19 (02:41:32):
It's not.

Speaker 1 (02:41:33):
It's not a simple process. Hey, sometimes Facebook sends me
stuff tries to get me to monetize it, and I
don't know what should I tell him? You do you
have any advice from you know?

Speaker 6 (02:41:43):
All power to him.

Speaker 10 (02:41:44):
I think he's doing a great He does a great
job on social media. In fact, he posts way more
than I do, right, And I don't like social media.
Gary seems to like it and he does well with it.

Speaker 1 (02:41:56):
Did you see the one of the AI picture of
him on his e bo within ir? Yeah, people love
it to us, but I don't know. I mean, we're
trying to fig good night look at that, but we Yeah,
that is How about a turkey at close? Is an
ugly fella?

Speaker 3 (02:42:10):
It is?

Speaker 5 (02:42:11):
Oh yeah, look at the one that's in the camp
I did. It's scared nose.

Speaker 1 (02:42:14):
I looked at it. It's scared brody. It was in there. Yeah,
it's a it's it's it's goin to pull the wall down.
He's got a prominent spot there. So so, you know
how you just don't expect your day. I'm like, I
did not expect my day to include Gary, social media
and advice from Bruce Harmon. I know that we went

(02:42:36):
to high school with that played fullback on on the
football team, and he and I even went to Troy together. Yeah. Uh,
Andre roommates for one one quarter. And but the why
he would be involved in Gary's social media present because
the last time I checked, I think I think Bruce
sells cars. Yeah, and internet influencers know what he's talking about,

(02:43:02):
and uh so the uh and and so I I
don't if any of y'all would like to help Gary
with this endeavor. You know, but it can't. I'm telling
you you're you're you're walking uphill because I've tried to
help him with his call and when he has things
like he's only gonna make him in his woodshope and
he's not gonna handle off to some mass production, I

(02:43:24):
don't know until we can overcome that gonna bog down. Well,
you know, I mean, I ain't making no more. I'm
done for the you and I'm like, okay, so people
might still want them. Well, I mean I have to
wait touch I'm making him again. Oh okay, all right,
that sounds you when you get it. It is a
good call, and I think it could do quite well.
But you know, Gary kind of yeah, he's not overly coachable.

(02:43:46):
So so I don't know that those of you out
there that would like to teach Gary how to be
an influencer and make some money at you. I don't
know has got him. I don't know the answer. We're
we're fortunate enough that we have enough companies that work
with us on all that. But I don't know some
of you. Look, I know people do great with it,
great with him, and they know how to do it,

(02:44:08):
and they've got it. Just takes a lot to It's
a lot of work to get it. And as you said,
there is a lot of posting. You got to post
a lot. You got to keep it going. Yeah, and
at some point you're gonna have to start working products
in while you're cooking. And I just don't see Gary
taking all that on.

Speaker 10 (02:44:26):
I think a product placement would be a great direction
for him to go versus a pre roll ad that
people have to sit through. Yes, because Gary's content is
very eye catching and people want to watch it, but
getting them to sit through that ad is a very
different thing, and it's it's it's a lot, it's a
different game. So maybe as he's cooking, I saw he
cooked up some let's see. I don't know what this

(02:44:49):
dish is, but it looks really good. Carrott potato meat
and onion something.

Speaker 5 (02:44:54):
He claimed he was making that because we wore Now
if you heard that, but hey, Rick and the guys
were down and wore me out.

Speaker 1 (02:45:03):
I'm ready to have some good food. He kind of
insinuated that he needed a good meal and some rest
after us. We didn't wear him out.

Speaker 6 (02:45:12):
He did an injected injected turkey. It looks like for Thanksgiving.

Speaker 1 (02:45:15):
Oh yeah, I saw that one.

Speaker 10 (02:45:17):
Maybe you could get Tony whatever it's called Tony satutory
or whatever.

Speaker 6 (02:45:21):
Yeah, you know, I'm talking about Tony's.

Speaker 1 (02:45:24):
Satury. Easy, guys, nobody get hurt. That'd be some camp
house rub or something. Butterball Masterbilts, I tell you what
we're gonna do. Yeah, let's do a combination. We're about
to have some camp house season and coming out in
twenty twenty six energy. Yeah, I hate today. Like to
take some of his camp house reve and rub it
on this and then the camera pan and that's you
as him. Hey, that would be funny, and then the

(02:45:46):
question we end up taking it away from him. Oh yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:45:48):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Strange and Colors, the

(02:46:11):
new podcast from Rick Urchas. Get it now wherever you
get podcasts.

Speaker 1 (02:46:19):
All right, folks, Strange Encounters. The last episode of the
year coming out this weekend as well, so we'll tell
me more about that tomorrow. Wednesday Bible Study today, last
one of the year. It'll be focused on what we're
celebrating this time of year, the birth of Christ. So
that'll be coming up as soon as we're done today.

(02:46:40):
You can catch it live though on our YouTube channel
noon Central one o'clock Eastern, the archive available soon after.
I understand, we just had a we have a situation
in the kitchen. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, I'll wet. What happened?
Just bad timing. Well you mean bad timing. Well, you
know a lot of times people when they at the
last one, they'll leave the pot on there empty with

(02:47:02):
the burner on. I thought that's what happened. But what
it actually happened is Buck Wilde had been through there
and was making a new pot. Oh, and I thought,
so I went filled it up and dumped it in there. Well,
if you dump it in there twice, it's a foot
it overflows. So wait a minute, water just started to
coming fell into perfect place. Those of you then when
we say this, they don't know what we're talking about,

(02:47:24):
and we say Buck Wilde. Uh legend. It is a legend,
radio legend and our radio brother. And he doesn't always
do his show from here, right, but he does a
couple of times a week. And when he's here, he'll
participate in the coffee. The coffee. He can be a
little recklessly with the coffee. Hey, you better like a stout.

(02:47:45):
I know the coffee is very very stout when Buck
Wilde it makes the coffee. So what happened was buck
Wilde had already put water in it for another pot. Yeah.
I hadn't started coming out yet, so I thought, well,
somebody left the burn around with the empty pot. He
went in, he filled it up and dumped it in there.
And when I did not good, he was holding court.

(02:48:05):
He had his speech about how people leave it on.
Oh did you start making like you thought somebody did it? Yeah?
You old buck Waldon followed us slid the top part out.
I would have seen it. Just how big a mess?
Pretty big? This worse because we caught it. We've done
it before, and this went all the way off the
other side. Yeah. We came in here and sat down,
didn't We started picking up things off the counter and

(02:48:25):
chasing it with paper titles still just tough. Have you
ruined buck Wild's coffee? We know?

Speaker 5 (02:48:30):
Yeah, he took the last pot of the previous Uh,
he's took He took the last cup of the previous
pot and was making a new one and he was
he went off and I hope this is strong enough,
because he likes a strong and so Greg mumbled somethingbody.

Speaker 1 (02:48:45):
I'm making no, and don't worry about it. But I
burned down after he does, and he said, I sorry, Burke, Wow,
So so again, is that pot?

Speaker 9 (02:48:58):
Is that? Is that part? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (02:49:03):
He asked me. Man, he said, I don't know speed.
He was in military. So the he got he got
duty this week.

Speaker 4 (02:49:12):
I like that.

Speaker 1 (02:49:13):
I like that jacket. Jarty's got so uh the fun
it's his onlyr brother. But you couldn't help it. You
got it in there. It's almost always in acres. I started,
I started rumbling, little you got a mess? And finished,
Is that is that?

Speaker 9 (02:49:28):
You talk?

Speaker 1 (02:49:29):
Pretty much? Did you? Is that is that pot of
coffee over?

Speaker 19 (02:49:33):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (02:49:33):
Yeah, it's got it's a whole. It's not a good thing.
That's not what's the state of the company. What's the
state of the coffee pot?

Speaker 13 (02:49:38):
Right?

Speaker 16 (02:49:38):
What?

Speaker 22 (02:49:39):
What?

Speaker 9 (02:49:39):
What?

Speaker 1 (02:49:40):
Greg that Greg's running out way your girl work, I
better start right another master bound down after doing it,
he was He went into his comment paper was, hey,
people leaving us home, get some crystallizers on the bottom,
you know, gets his speech and then everything and then
realize that and he was wrong. He was on he

(02:50:02):
was wow on me. He was actually dripping okay, pod Hey,
at times he can be reckless with coffee. Oh yeah,
now he'll blame others in a drop of Oh in
a second. Right, but there's so many paper towels it
looks like it looks like you're cleaning up a mess
on Aisle three in there. So the bottom line is
we are not going to have coffee anytime soon. Uh no, no,

(02:50:24):
appreciate that probably fifteen twenty uh so, so Adler, the
some of the things that we have here. This father
going viral for teaching his newborn son how hard life
will be as a Jets fan owns me on video ten. Yes,

(02:50:44):
so when you have that, let me know, because I think,
I mean, you know, there's always an argument who has
the most miserable fan base? I was in there is it? Okay?
And how about this?

Speaker 5 (02:50:55):
Greg also has one speed? He could the house could
be on fire and he's going.

Speaker 9 (02:50:59):
To have that.

Speaker 1 (02:51:00):
He's still going to have that. Stay come, buddy, he's
got he's got a future being a policeman in Australia. Yeah,
you might burn up going to have that same strut.
So yeah, it's working progress in there. It's still going everywhere. Well,
we did turn it off, so if we had no

(02:51:21):
I think it'll fill up and then it'll keep going. Okay,
it's a mass. Okay, sorry buddy. So it's okay, buddy.
It's not buck Walds fault. No, it's on me. It
was this bad timing found Greg. Look a look clubs
you downright? So now Greg, and now you've joined us,
is good. Listen to this father, it's going viral, teaching

(02:51:44):
his newborn son how hard his life will be as
a Jets fan.

Speaker 10 (02:51:47):
And and he's reading them a kid's book. He's reading
them a kid's book called Jets one oh one. So
I guess there's you know, books like this.

Speaker 6 (02:51:54):
Books like this for everybody or every team, I should say.

Speaker 10 (02:51:57):
But uh, he's the kid looks like they barely crawl,
and the dad is a Jets fan reading to the kid.

Speaker 6 (02:52:04):
And I don't know what is still rolling? So I
have to kill that really quick.

Speaker 1 (02:52:10):
Country Christmas?

Speaker 9 (02:52:11):
Not that.

Speaker 1 (02:52:11):
Do you play country Christians Christmas?

Speaker 6 (02:52:13):
Oh yeah, yeah, I gotta cover.

Speaker 1 (02:52:15):
When y'all know that I didn't know. You go country,
that's surprises.

Speaker 6 (02:52:18):
When you're going country, I go country too. When you're
going Christmas, I go Christmas. Okay, all right, here we go.

Speaker 1 (02:52:27):
Guys.

Speaker 13 (02:52:28):
We haven't won the sl since nineteen sixty eight, and
it's it's twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (02:52:33):
Five, the year you were born.

Speaker 13 (02:52:35):
Mister Reeve is best player that got in Jets uniform.
This is the worst stadium in all the NFL, literally,
but we were good back in this ficture.

Speaker 11 (02:52:46):
I promise Dad used to all the games.

Speaker 13 (02:52:48):
Three game extra points are one, field goals are three.
Touchdowns are six. We don't get a lot of touchdowns.

Speaker 15 (02:52:55):
Give a lot of touchdowns, O defense.

Speaker 13 (02:52:58):
We win the game in the trenches. We have a
really good old line right now, but our quarterback stinks.
Hopefully we're drafting one this year. The fact that Josh
McCown is even in this book is a joke.

Speaker 1 (02:53:07):
Obviously put it.

Speaker 13 (02:53:08):
Name five worst Jets to be in this book. You know,
Lorenzo Maul Then.

Speaker 18 (02:53:15):
Oh, I know.

Speaker 15 (02:53:18):
That's Joe.

Speaker 13 (02:53:19):
He needs to die in order for us to be
good again. To say it is the truth, that's worse
curse that's ever been on the franchise. He sold his
soul for the super Bowl, super Bowl three, and that's
literally the epenome of Jets history. Draft pick won't fill
this out this year and all in April.

Speaker 1 (02:53:38):
That's it. That's all we got the owner before be
good again.

Speaker 6 (02:53:46):
You think I think he said Broadway Joe.

Speaker 1 (02:53:48):
Yeah, because he said that Broadway Joe sold his soul
to win the super Bowl, but the Jets can't win
another until he dies. I guess that's okay, all right,
I thought about the owner, Okay, I didn't know about
the Broadway Joe curse. Yeah, and a lot of fan
bases that can relate to that. Just yeah, your fan
base is one of the Jets is. I have no

(02:54:11):
idea one of the worst Jets we were in. He
couldn't believe he was in there. Jets fans, I don't
know how y'all keep doing it. How you keep coming
back year after year and they'll run somebody.

Speaker 10 (02:54:23):
Yeah, real quick, real quick sports story if you guys want,
When we come back to it, did y'all see the
celebration of the NBA Cup.

Speaker 1 (02:54:31):
Yeah, I see what you say about it, but that
can't be true. Right, he got them.

Speaker 6 (02:54:38):
You know how you get somebody, He got him.

Speaker 1 (02:54:41):
Well, there's many ways to get somebody, but what you're
describing here because also apparently the way you stop a
dog from attacking. Right.

Speaker 9 (02:54:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 11 (02:54:48):
See, this is the Rick Burgess Show. He's got a
big voice and a big face. Rick Buche.

Speaker 1 (02:55:13):
Well excited about a lot of things that are coming
our way in twenty twenty six. One of them we
announce Sherry and I are so excited that Oceania Cruises
now coming to partner with our show, and they're putting
together a cruise next fall. Sherry and I'll be hosting

(02:55:35):
some of you. I love getting fired up seeing all
of you who have already booked your cabin on this
luxury cruise. It's gonna be a lot of fun. I'm
telling you. The problem that we have for those of
you that may still be, you know, kicking the tires.
Even though this is a ship, the ship is going

(02:55:55):
to sell out, even if we don't sell the cabins
that they have allotted for us. Because there's a huge demand.
This is a brand new ship, the Alura.

Speaker 2 (02:56:06):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:56:06):
It's only six hundred cabins, So it's it's not one
of these mega cruises where you're going go on with
thousands of people.

Speaker 26 (02:56:14):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:56:14):
It's got award winning cuisine, the best on the sea.
What you pay for the cruise, all eight restaurants with
award winning chefs. Uh, that's included. Eat these restaurants as
manytimes you want, uh, and that's included. The gratuities are
also include all the tips and everything all included. You
don't have that. They don't nickeling dime you the whole

(02:56:35):
time you're there.

Speaker 8 (02:56:36):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:56:36):
It is going to be a beautiful, beautiful trip. We're
going to continue to go to to Italy, We're going
to be going to uh to Greece, We're going to
be going to Croatia, Montenegro, We're going to go to
Turkey and and and we're actually going to go to
the where the historic city of Ephesus is located.

Speaker 19 (02:56:58):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (02:56:58):
It will be something that we'll all remember forever. And
Sherry and I are looking forward to spending some time
getting to know some of you a little better. So
it's seven days. It's September twenty six through the October
the third. I'll even celebrate my sixty second birthday on
the ship, which will be a lot of fun. So
if you want to book now, call one eight four

(02:57:20):
four two three nine zero six three eight eight four
four two three nine zero six three eight. We have
three of our personal consultants that are ready to book
this for you. Would you rather your personal travel agent
do it, that's fine. They'll get all the information and
then let them handle it and maybe find you some
other discounts if they can. But this is going I

(02:57:43):
know it seems like it's a long way away, but
the ship is literally sailing out. I got an update
just a minute ago, so so go ahead and grab
the rooms that we have available because now the rooms
are just going to be what's available, and you know,
the price could go up because you might you might
be now being pushed to a part of the ship

(02:58:05):
where it's more expensive. So so go right now to
get that done. You also can use Oceana Cruises dot com,
slash big vox and there's also a link on the
website rickburgesshow dot com. So you heard Adler talking about
so the NBA, so so the NBA is having some

(02:58:25):
sort of preseason cup that people can win.

Speaker 9 (02:58:28):
What is this?

Speaker 6 (02:58:28):
It's the NBA Cup. It's an inn season turna season tournament.

Speaker 1 (02:58:33):
Are they doing this like the WNBA does now?

Speaker 10 (02:58:35):
They debuted it in twenty the twenty twenty three, twenty
twenty four NBA season.

Speaker 6 (02:58:41):
It's an in season tournament called the NBA Cup.

Speaker 1 (02:58:46):
All right? And so the NBA Cup has been won
by the Nicks, correct, uh? And then there's a weird
celebration that takes place.

Speaker 10 (02:58:55):
Yes, okay, so you've got Jalen Brunson on the team,
and you've got Josh Hart. These are those too, the
two guys right here, Jalen Brush and Josh Hart. This
is from the press conference after the NBA Cup. This
is the celebration the Knicks one. So it's their first
championship in.

Speaker 6 (02:59:15):
A long time.

Speaker 10 (02:59:17):
And Josh Hart is standing behind Jalen Brunson. Jaylen Brunson
is a shorter guy. He's a he's a shorter guy,
especially for the NBA, you know. And Jalen Brunson is
gonna get him. He's gonna zing them, He's gonna sting him.

Speaker 1 (02:59:30):
What do you mean by this?

Speaker 6 (02:59:33):
Let me just give you guys a big thumbs up.

Speaker 15 (02:59:34):
Excuse me, guys, guys, Hey got him, got him good.

Speaker 1 (02:59:47):
So when you see I'm not aware of there's none
of my friends. We never had this. We didn't either,
but you know, okay, so hey game, my thumbs up,
thumbs up.

Speaker 6 (02:59:58):
So got him good.

Speaker 1 (03:00:00):
So those of you that might remember, uh, the nursery
rhyme about Horner, little Jack Horner the corner, Yeah, I forget.
He's stuck in his thumb and pulled out a plumb.
And so so this is uh, this is the Jack
Horner thumb. Well, he didn't like it. Uh and and

(03:00:23):
and it appears that his teammate is inserting the thumb
uh to the back of the basketball trout of shorts.
Uh in the between the cheeks. Yes, going for the
bulls eye right, got them? Okay, hello, remember why would
you do that? I don't recall again never I've been

(03:00:46):
thankfully involved in a lot of celebrations. I don't recall
ever in a celebration thinking to myself, I think I'll
insert my thumb and my buddies we're in to say
good job. This is taking pat on the butt to
a different place him. Yeah, and why would we do this?

Speaker 10 (03:01:04):
I remember I was getting I was leaving church. I
was had to go to the restroom in church one time, and.

Speaker 1 (03:01:08):
Where is this going?

Speaker 6 (03:01:09):
I had to leave the pew and.

Speaker 10 (03:01:10):
I was walking in front of my brother and like
ten of his friends because they were sitting down, and
I ran out of that pew.

Speaker 6 (03:01:17):
If you know what I'm saying, because I was being chased,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (03:01:21):
I didn't know this was a thing. Greg, do you
recall this speaking?

Speaker 10 (03:01:28):
They addressed it later in the press conference, and I
guess these guys really have a very friendly apparently yes,
in relationship. So Josh Hart is the bigger guy on
the left, He's going to be asked by a reporter
even though this guy's not tall, he's not athletic, how
does he get the job done? And the guy is
sitting right there, Jalen is sitting right there, and he's like, man,

(03:01:50):
come on, and so you're gonna hear the first you're
gonna hear Jalen respond and be like, come on, guys,
do we really even talk about this?

Speaker 6 (03:01:55):
And he does say he says Jesus, But okay.

Speaker 1 (03:01:59):
When you find during his height and not the most athletic. Jesus,
you've said it. You said, you've said it. You didn't
have to say it.

Speaker 9 (03:02:07):
Though.

Speaker 6 (03:02:08):
How many guys in the NBA do you think score
the basketball better than he does?

Speaker 17 (03:02:11):
Josh Hart responds, Josh, probably not many. You know, got
right next to him, barely six foot guard, you know,
not physically impressive, not athletic, but he's able to manipulate,

(03:02:36):
you know, defense, big head, so he has a big brain.
He's able to uh, you know, figure out those angles
and find himself positioned to be successful. So, you know,
inch for inch I think is probably the best best one.

Speaker 1 (03:02:55):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 6 (03:02:57):
Yeah, they're just ripping on your other.

Speaker 1 (03:03:00):
I guess, I mean, you know so, I guess it's
just constant Hygiene's just one of those relationships. Listen, hmmm,
I know, you know we had the melt down last Friday.

Speaker 6 (03:03:12):
You know how he feels howel I thought.

Speaker 1 (03:03:15):
But but but never once is anybody on this staff ever, No, No,
that's over the line, right right, I mean, I don't
I don't recall that. I've just never had that experience
with with any teammate, our friend, and I'd rather not know.
It would make me mad.

Speaker 6 (03:03:33):
I think that I would have snapped on because he
did it on TV.

Speaker 1 (03:03:36):
It looks like he did get kind of mad.

Speaker 6 (03:03:38):
He did get kind of mad. I turned around like, hey,
did that right? I wish I would to, you know.

Speaker 1 (03:03:43):
So he's got right here? Do you think they.

Speaker 3 (03:03:48):
Do?

Speaker 1 (03:03:49):
Listen? Do you think they apparently they messed with this guy? Sorry? Sorry? Yeah,
I mean it looks like, yeah, well they have fun,
don't they.

Speaker 7 (03:03:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:04:00):
Yeah, people are saying it was called goosing them, but
I don't remember. Was this yeah, yeah, yeah, you're in
the ribcase.

Speaker 18 (03:04:06):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (03:04:07):
Okay, I don't remember.

Speaker 5 (03:04:08):
We got another term for him, but oh well Greg,
please there's a planet, right, yeah, that's.

Speaker 1 (03:04:14):
Well, but now we had a time for that one. No,
I'm just talking about why goosted?

Speaker 16 (03:04:17):
I know.

Speaker 6 (03:04:19):
What's good for the goose, it's good for the gander,
I guess.

Speaker 2 (03:04:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (03:04:24):
It's He's put out a release says he doesn't even
look forward to playing for this team. Didna here? Can
you imagine that? Guys?

Speaker 6 (03:04:35):
Let's I don't.

Speaker 1 (03:04:36):
I don't ever. Maybe an enemy would do that.

Speaker 11 (03:04:40):
But yeah, this is the Rick Burgess Show. It's time
for the most bingerist ten minutes in radio. Screaming the

(03:05:01):
phone calls call no two O five five, three zero one,
get on the show.

Speaker 1 (03:05:08):
We'll hit those unscreen phone calls. Here wrapping up the hour.
But before Greg, we got to see this for just
a minute. If you ever wonder why Greg's grandkids, they've
got him wrapped around their finger. Oh yeah, this precious
little sweety pie. But anyway, Greg got to go last
night to see one of his grandkids. Anytime you go

(03:05:31):
see kids of this age. She's not even three yet, right, Yeah,
she's still too. You had the terrible part though lately,
is still down from having that procedure on her jaw.
So she didn't get to go, but she got this video.
She did get the video. Did you shoot this no channel?
Did I say that again? I'm sorry that was so.
But this is Mary Hollis is the baby of all
of ours. She, like I say, she's the youngest, and

(03:05:52):
like Chandler said, she's either gonna put on a show
or she's going to completely melt down and take off
running and come climb in her out. And you never
know how it's coming, don't never know. We had the
youngest children's choir this past Sunday. Those are fun. And
I'm talking about you had everything. I was looking at
them standing there, you had three crying her eyes. I'm
completely crying. I'm talking about like I want my parents

(03:06:13):
to come get me. I don't want to be on
this riser, you know. And then you have you have
the little girl who's got it dialed in, and and
then you've got the boys that are picking their nose.
You got to looking around the one that turns completely
around and puts his back into the audience better than
the kids choir. Yeah, so so, But but these are
one and two year old. Well I learned. I noticed

(03:06:34):
that Mary Hawis has got rhythm. Yes, get that one
of her mom and center. So here's a little just
a little clip from her, and right there the medal
red pants.

Speaker 15 (03:06:45):
Look at her, she's got the clown.

Speaker 6 (03:06:53):
Here is what it's all about.

Speaker 1 (03:06:54):
Did you hear her spinning around a little? Look at
this little fun You look, you don't even like the
same person. Great, you don't even like to It's good,
you know, use less muscles when you smile about that's true.
If we can get if we can get Mary Hollis
or one of the little baby used to tell Papa,
Papa I like watching the interpreter on press conference. Papa,

(03:07:15):
pull that up, let's watch it, Papa, can we watch
it together? Papa? What does that mean? What she's saying?
How beautiful she is, She's just so cute. And she went, yeah,
she's she's She didn't do anything wrong. No, she embraced it,
and she would do her spin and did say a
clap right on time, great clap and not everybody, I
want to say his own beat, just saying yeah, yeah,

(03:07:38):
she got that down. That's right. You know. Le and
Chatter both been on to dance so great and you're
not a bad dancer, Well don't you don't show off?
Not a bad dancer. I want to show off. Greg
knocks it out of gear. It's right on the beat.
Do you have a go to move or is it
just way in White Band's dance or do you kind

(03:07:59):
of sling it? Oh no, he got a little further.
I get a little you know. He had a little
bit of Jackson five and just a little okay. A
lot of people say moonwalk, that's all so great time
last night and did great, Yes, great job. It's fun
to watch them do stuff. It isn't so unpredictable. Oh boy,

(03:08:21):
are they ever. We had one on doing one other songs.
He just decided he was done, starts screaming, Oh yeah,
you're gonna happen. You're gonna have that, I mean, big
time crying. He was out of there. He didn't like it,
didn't like it at all. And then there's the ones
that wave at their parents and grandparents the entire song.
Yeah yeah, Uh to the phones, we go, unscreened phone calls.

(03:08:42):
You're on the Rick Burgess Show, Go right ahead.

Speaker 19 (03:08:45):
Hey, you know we're talking earlier about the late hard
time for a shopping at Dollar Tree. Yeah, Loug, Yeah,
we had eight kids and they delight to go to Dollar.

Speaker 8 (03:08:54):
Tree on Christmas because they buy everybody will the cushions.

Speaker 1 (03:08:59):
You can get him in. Now, that's that's kids raised
right right to the freezer. Yeah that's it. Hey, ain't
wrong with that. We're going to the dollar store. No
Rick Birders show. Yeah, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.

Speaker 18 (03:09:11):
Morning boys, I got a heart brick store this morning.
Oh we were at Tree staying this morning early. We've
been waiting on him to come out, and we finally
got him to come out on us. I got my
bowl because I only front like a man like Adler.

Speaker 14 (03:09:27):
That's right, he's right at me.

Speaker 18 (03:09:30):
Some I'm gonna won't turn. He's thirty yards away, he
won't turn. Finally, he gets up about eighteen yards from
my tree stand. He's just about to turn, and we
hear from above.

Speaker 1 (03:09:49):
That's them letting you know that they're that's a nice
call back, right there, buddy money. Uh We continue Rick
