We're just gonna go nuts. And if you don't love Christmas,
you just need to leave, because we love Christmas and
we're gonna celebrate Christmas right and we're gonna get after it.
Speaking of that, we're now decorating our house for Christmas.
So we've had the lights up, but now we're getting
the inside ready, tree going up all that. Sherry loves
(03:44):
a real tree, so we wait a little later. Our
ours goes up Thursday. Oh okay, I want to dry out.
Speaker 8 (03:50):
I've been Buddy the Elf for weeks. It's Christmas City
up in here. Yeah, I feel like the kid from
Christmas Story. I can't move my arms. Yeah, I feel Yeah.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
I can't tell the number of pumpkins I saw Sherry
moving because we will have a pumpkin Boy, Pumpkins, my goodness,
Pumpkin Stora and all them weird looking pumpkins. They all love.
Now they got starfish looking pumpkin. And then Sherry started this,
Oh no, I'm not gonna throw them away. I love
pumpkin soup, and you know, I make a pumpkin salad,
(04:22):
and I'm just like, great, okay, all right, I just
I just don't like pumpkin Soup's not bad. It ain't bad.
I mean, I mean it's I mean, am I sitting
here jumping up and down going I'm grateful? I'm grateful
pumpkin soups waiting on me? No? But what I want
it's a nice Well I eat a pumpkin soup. Yeah,
(04:44):
usually waiting on my meal to get here. Yeah, you
know it can't be the meal. Nous I got some
bread or something.
Speaker 7 (04:50):
Yeah, I ate a split Peace soup. Yesterday thought about
I thought about.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Can we talk about soup? That you bringing up Split
Peace soup?
Speaker 9 (04:58):
Please?
Speaker 7 (04:58):
I thought about y'all.
Speaker 8 (04:59):
Yes esterday I thought about Greg my house. Greg thinks
this is stupid?
Speaker 3 (05:04):
Yeah, and stomach? How about Greg? When when Greg and
I campus this past weekend? You know, because I took
down a dough and a coylodie, but didn't even remotely
think about going and getting mounting the cody. I mean,
I see went over.
Speaker 10 (05:24):
That's about the most redneck thing you can do, and
I did it, full body.
Speaker 3 (05:28):
Mount of of a cody. Yeah, a dog. I blame
you because you pushed me to do it.
Speaker 10 (05:33):
Yeah, yeah you did, because it's a big, big old
alpha male.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
Yeah. Sherry, Uh, well look at it. It's pretty cool.
Sherry is very open to deer hunting, doesn't mind at all.
And we got, you know, deer horns all over the place.
And then she you know, they're everywhere at campus. But
let me tell you, she draws a line. I'm not
having in any place that I will ever be a
stuffed dog. Please do not do that. No coyoties. Please,
(05:58):
your old big old turkey. He's settled up. Now, got
me a big old turkey. Oh boy, do you? How about?
How about it?
Speaker 11 (06:07):
I forgot to tell young broad Rock.
Speaker 3 (06:09):
About it, Brody, and I just forgot to tell him
he had not been in campus since it's sitting on
that big old log. He goes and gets his keys,
goes in the lots or off. And also that thing's
right in his face and he said, it's scared the
I bet, yeah, I bet. I was glad that. I
hate I missed that. But but anyway, so when Greg
and I took the dough to the processor, you know
(06:33):
it's only been two weekends that rifle season has been
going in Alabama. They were so many deer. I mean
there was nowhere if you're bothered by the process of
preparing deer and the meat. It was like, I mean
(06:56):
everywhere you turned. I mean, I'm filling out the paperwork,
you know, with like a body with it like a
deer getting his head cut off, like like right like
like feet from me, you know, and you're looking for
where to step and uh, hey, don't wear your good shoes. Yeah,
it's like you going through it was unreal and whatever
(07:17):
you do. It's kind of like if you were if
those of you out there, young young fellows that you
your wife hasn't birthed the first baby before you yet.
You know, when you go in there for that delivery,
just be careful where you look. Yeah, and uh, you
know when you go to the process or be careful
where you look, you know, just keep your eyes focused
on the paperwork, you know out here right tenderloins. Yeah,
(07:43):
I mind, wish I hadn't turned to the left just then.
And did I tell you? Did I tell you about
the I know I did all f air. So there's uh,
you know, apparently somebody was a w B had their
wife with them, and she had her camel on. And
she's a big hunter. I know a lot of you
have wives that are big hunters. Yeah, and she had
she had taken one, okay, and she's she's the person
(08:04):
in front of me while I'm waiting to do my
paperwork for the deer that I've brought in. Okay, And
all of a sudden I see her turn in full cambo.
You were over there, you you didn't hear this? Yeah,
I was listening to the ball again, you were so look, turns,
looks at all the various deer hanging various places, and
says the following. If this is not our culture, those
(08:27):
of you don't understand our culture. Keep in mind, this
was a woman. Okay, this is the Hey, how about
Southern women. We got hard in those ladies. Yeah, it
ain't like anywhere else. She says out toward all the
hanging deer.
Speaker 5 (08:41):
Any of those got a heart that ain't busted?
Speaker 3 (08:45):
And they guy said, over here, it looks like they
got a heart intact over here. Cut that out for me.
I want to I love the heart?
Speaker 10 (08:53):
What and I just said, Lord help, And I said,
what did you say? She goes, everybody just made a face.
Speaker 3 (08:57):
Shed me. She goes, you don't need the hearts. I said,
I don't, No, I don't, I don't. I take that
cut it up, you know, stir fright, And I was like,
oh nice. Only in Alabama would a woman in Cambo
screamed toward people gutting deer and say, any of those.
Speaker 11 (09:13):
Got a heart still intact?
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Do you haven't dip in? No? She did not, but
she uh she was. She was a raw boned woman
raised on the farm. Yeah, yeah, sing that yeah, and
like mustache, give me the heart. Oh, keep in mind
that she knows enough to ask, because if you shoot
a deer correctly, a lot of times you explode the
horror any of those the hearts still intact? Mm hmm.
(09:37):
That that right there? Give me one. That's one of
those things. I handed her heart. That's one of those things.
You just wrapped it up and took it the house.
Yes she did, Yes, she did. Put your guy in
that cooler. That's a heart. Took it right with her,
didn't you. Uh it was me for that. That's that's
one of those moments you just wished you had one
of your cousins from Detroit Weed, you know, just just
(10:00):
to watch them deal with it. So that's.
Speaker 12 (10:06):
We're tough.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
People under armor.
Speaker 8 (10:10):
Really did something when they took a regular Camo jacket
and made the U and the A pink.
Speaker 7 (10:15):
They did a tiny little pink thing. They really opened
a whole can of worms.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Yes they did. Yes, they did.
Speaker 12 (10:20):
A lot of people like hearts according to Texan Nation.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
No, we'll be right there.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The Men Church Conferences
are coming two big weekends in Birmingham, Alabama and Starkville, Mississippi.
(10:49):
Tickets are going fast. Don't miss these powerful weekends in
January twenty twenty six. Get your tickets now at Themanchurch
dot com. Be a man, follow Jesus.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Yeah, those tickets are, I mean they're rolling quickly. Early
access were Birmingham sold out. The rest of the room
about seventy percent sold. So you want to grab those startbull.
There's maybe twenty early access tickets still left, about one
(11:24):
hundred and fifty seats, So there you go. You find
those at Themanchurch dot com. Simple all right. So we
have a lot to do on the program today, including
updating and checking in with you, so look for those
(11:45):
opportunities coming up. Relief Factor dot com. Loving relief Factor,
loving it, loving it, loving it. It's been part of
my daily routine for years now and has really really
made a difference to be sixty one now and thanks
to relief Factor, not really not really unable to do anything.
(12:10):
You know, move around pretty good. Uh and uh, you
know you're gonna have the the aging aches and pains.
But what, boy, does it help? And if you over
exert yourself or something like that, if it's tied to inflammation,
this is an all natural option. It's four botanicals, okay,
and you can get three weeks of it for nineteen
ninety five. In those three weeks, you'll know whether it's
(12:31):
working for you or not. Let's talk a little bit
about somebody else that that that listens to the program.
He's out of Mississippi. He is also sixty, he said.
He said. I work with with you know, as as
a highline guy for the power company, like Greg, he said.
(12:51):
And I'm paying a price for it, he said. I
used to be a point guard back in my school days,
but these days I could literally point to all the
areas of my hurt. That's about all I can do.
And they stopped me from doing the things I love.
I heard you guys talking about relief Factor. I thought, well,
for twenty bucks, what did I have to lose? Well,
I tell you what, I lost, my pain. I'm three
months using two packs a day, and I feel more
(13:14):
like I did when I was forty then a few
months ago when I turned sixty. I'm a believer guy. Sorry,
it took me so long to get on the train.
I understand even skept it. I got it. Of course,
you know you could have been feeling better sooner. But
relief factor dot com or go to Rick burgesshow dot
com under the sponsors button. Okay, so we do have
other things to cover on the program today, but I
(13:38):
will say speedy. I had something happen last night and
I thought, boy, this is a this is a speedy
moment I'm in right now. I mean a speedy, speedy moment. Okay.
So Sherry and I decided to where are y'all? And
I know we've discussed it. I think on the program,
(13:58):
where are you guys? On Ramen go into a restaurant.
I never eat it. I know that when Jac went
to Japan, string that up. It was my boys I've
never had.
Speaker 10 (14:11):
I got to tell you, I was a little skeptical.
But when we were in Dallas, we went to a
restaurant and it was.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
Delicious, fantastic. They put like it's cordon which one you get.
I like chicken ramen. You can get the ramen noodles
chicken with with well greg yes, and in a way way,
but they also have any and sometimes it has corn
in it. It'll have a bowled egg in it. The
(14:37):
way they do the egg is it is interesting, like egg. Yeah,
it's like the way those noodles look, what's wrong them?
We got a weird look about them. So like is amazing.
It's the best food on the planet. A little bit
of a step out there, but but it's like the
noodles have has a perm I don't know about y'all.
I had to overcome the fact that we used to
(14:59):
eat that when we were like had no money, right,
I never ated talk about and came to dried in
that fact. But this is a more fancier present. I
like them.
Speaker 10 (15:11):
So the eggs, the way they do it is it's
bold on the outside, but running on the I.
Speaker 8 (15:15):
Don't want Yeah, you don't have to do that part
if you're scared of it, Greg, that's you don't have
to do that part of it.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
I don't. I like my eggs cooked. So I so
I went in. Sherry wanted to go eat ramen. Okay,
we'll eat ramen, and so we we go. We're going
to the ramen place. So we walk in and we
notice that there's a young lady sitting there at a
boot by herself, and she's got some sort of appetizer,
(15:41):
and for some reason, we decided to engage her. I
don't know, I felt like we came in. Actually she's
going to Sweet two hundred. Honestly, I thought, I thought,
I thought Sherry, and I began to ask her what
she was eating A little quick, A complete stranger. What's
that you got? Complete? Hey, you have no idea who
we are we eating? And uh, anyway, so she showed
(16:02):
us where it was on the menu and w that far.
Ye oh, yeah, we we were. We were.
Speaker 11 (16:07):
We were a little bit aggressive on that. So we
sit down.
Speaker 3 (16:10):
And uh, we're you know, we're enjoying, you know, the
the meal and all that, and so we get down
to the end with speedy you can feel it coming,
can't and she comes over uh, the waitress and says, oh,
by the way, uh, the person back here behind y'all
got y'all's meal.
Speaker 4 (16:30):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
And I thought, somewhere, somewhere, just like in It's a
Wonderful Life when they say every time a bell rings
and angel gets your wings, I thought, somewhere speedy. He
doesn't know why, but he just felt a slight for you. Yeah,
and you're talking about the Jane Breakers, Yeah, and I was.
(16:53):
And I was like, and then you you Here's what
I don't know. Do you look back? I know, do
you you acknowledge them?
Speaker 10 (17:01):
You know this, this happened, you did this, This happened
to me at Delta State and and someone did this
and I went to go think it was the wrong person.
Speaker 13 (17:09):
That's right, they said, nobody's extremely awkward moment. Yeah, so
so Sharry. We were both so Sherriff peak. Sherry peaks around,
never mind, have a good meal. Yes, Cherry peaks around
the booth.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
And she's like, well, there's nobody back there. And I said,
I guess they're already gone. And she said, well, you
think it was the when we talked to and I said,
I highly doubt that person. I think we had that
person afraid, Yeah, but afraid but it might have been.
So whoever you were that is that was very very kind,
you know when people do it in the drive through. Yeah,
and went of course runs up on speed and the
(17:47):
change stuff. Oh yeah, but think about this. They even
wrote about speedy called chain breaker. I'm sorry, that's but
have you ever got something like that and go okay,
good and and not send it on supposed to send
it on to No, that's the situation. But in driving
the drive do you just go okay, yeah, I mean
you want somebody to benefit from it, and whoever started.
(18:09):
If you don't do it now, you can do it
tomorrow next day.
Speaker 11 (18:13):
Can I tell where my socially awkward moment hits on that?
Speaker 3 (18:16):
How to tip? Because I don't have any cash? I
never carry cash, and now I'm wanting to tip the
person and I'm like, do.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
You ask them?
Speaker 3 (18:25):
Did they tip you? I mean you probably do in
full transparency, Okay. I went as far as to get
a what's that boba? Was it called both boboa tea?
I got a boba tea just so I can till Oh,
that was that's.
Speaker 7 (18:38):
Kind of He just says thanks, He drives off.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
Okay, so let's let's talk a little bit about this.
You deserve to know what is in the tea that
you're drinking, believe it or not.
Speaker 11 (18:58):
Don't look, I'm just shooting you straight here.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
A lot of what's on American shelves isn't as pure
as the label suggests. Too many imported teas have been
linked to contaminants like microplastics, heavy metals, not something you
want in your cup. Kendred Harvest is the American answer,
Sherry and I love these teas. They are so so good.
(19:22):
Every batch, third party lab tested, zero microplastics, zero heavy metals.
You can drink with confidence. It's blended and it's packed
right here in the USA. And listen, there's no heat sealed,
there's no glue, there's no ink. There's not a compromise
in this tea. It's just pure delicious tea. So if
(19:43):
you like a little morning boost or maybe a calming
evening herbal clean tea for the whole family, love it.
And if you've been trusting overseas suppliers with your health,
time to switch to American quality and a brand built
on transparency and care. Now there's something so but a
nice cup of cherry loves it too, the hot tease. Yeah,
(20:05):
and if you want to, you know, to not let
that experience get ruined by having to worry about what's
in the cup, won't you join Sherry me and use
Kindred Harvests? Okay, choose American Quality, Cultivating Goodness daily, Kindred
Harvest dot Co. Use the code Rick for twenty percent off.
That's Kindred Harvest dot Co. The promo code Rick.
Speaker 1 (20:43):
His life statement, suck it up, buttercup, rickches.
Speaker 3 (20:50):
We can all use a little more of that. We
can all use a little more of that, all right,
so as we work our way through another day together.
Text Nation gregor sounds like it said. It sounds like
Greg's tired of sloppy slimy eggs. That's funny. Also off
(21:12):
text Nation and we get this one a lot. Do
you guys control the ads that run on the podcast
apps or the podcast archive? The answer is no, we
don't unless we're asked to voice it, which is is
not that often because those run everywhere. Look on that
there's filters that are supposed to be in place. But
(21:34):
just being real, understand that on our archives, on our
podcast you just we are part with I Heart. What
do you think have there no exaggeration, Probably thousands of
podcasts easily, right, yeah, thousands, Yeah, thousands and thousands. They
have more podcasts than anybody else. So it's thousands of podcasts.
(21:59):
And what they do is sell national sponsors and they
promote all the podcasts that they have, and then they
take those sponsors based on the audience that seems to
be dominant. Say they wanted say they felt like our
audience was men thirty five sixty four, they felt like
(22:20):
we have a good number of those. Okay, well, they
would lump us in with thousands of other podcasts that
would reach that same demographic, fort said sponsor, and they
put it on all of them. So it is a
great revenue source for us. It's a brand new revenue
source for us that is so important in the times
that we're living in. But they do try to accommodate
(22:43):
us as much as they possibly can, and there are
filters in place, but I don't know that it's ever
going to successfully filter out every little thing. It's just
not possible. So as much control as we have, yes,
we try to keep filters in place, but the only
thing that we have absolute control over when it comes
(23:03):
to the archives is anything they would ask us to voice.
We can turn any of that down. So the rest
of it, though, is just being run all over the
country and around the world. So there you go.
Speaker 8 (23:14):
All right, they always respond and yeah, try whenever y'all
email us and say hey, there's a weird ad running,
we send that to them and they always respond and
they say, oh, usually it'll be like, oh, that was
categorized under outdoor podcasts instead of some other weird podcast. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
So it's a new world doing what we do because
we all at one time, there was a time we
were all just radio host and you had two revenue streams,
local and national. That was pretty much it. Not anymore,
there's like five different revenue streams to try to get
to maybe fifty percent of what you were doing in
(23:53):
the heyday. So just yeah, it's just a new world
and you got to develop it and you gotta work,
you gotta hustle, and uh so we went from being
radio hosts to being content providers. That's pretty much what
we are now, and people catch it everywhere lei their
live or archives. So uh we we were gain as
much control as possible, and as Adler said, to our
(24:15):
heart's credit, they do try to work with us, but
they're working. We're one of I mean, no exaggeration, tens
of thousands of podcasts that they sell those ads on.
But we're but but it's a it's a good deal
for us. So that's good. We're glad to be there.
All right. So, Greg, you've done it again. What speedy
(24:36):
may be the king of the freebie, but I think
you have hit more deer in a vehicle than any
person I've ever known. A few dogs in there. Yeah,
you have taken out a number of animals. I don't
like it either with your vehicle. Yeah. Yeah, And and
apparently it's happened again on the way in, you know,
(24:57):
and look it was raining, hearts. I really couldn't. I'll
try that lotokle. You can't wreck yourself trying to avoid
an animal that I don't want to hit it, but
I can't wreck. And it was raining, and I'm going,
and you know how they'll they'll stand there and all
a sudden they'll breaking. You're going, why are you're breaking
that way? Keep going the way you go? And I
and it was you know what I mean, yeah, you
(25:20):
mean a little bomb. I mean, it ain't hurt nothing.
You what did you do? It was a digger? Oh
but it wasn't very Oh no, this morning. Big as
a dog. Oh yeah, right, big as any dog you got,
oh bigger? Okay, But you don't think you don't think
(25:42):
it damaged your car? Yeah, so you're saying one, we're
following mama. I don't know. You can't be more vague. Nothing,
this broke. Here's what happened. Mama's trying to win it.
She pushed it into tres probably. So did you get
out and check your trip? And it was raining so
I couldn't see, but I know it was just it
wasn't that big of an impact. You don't know if
it hurts your truck? No, I don't. Could you put it?
(26:04):
I'm pretty confident. Could you pick this dear in the
back of the truck on your own? No, it wasn't.
It wasn't that small, Well, gregor damage your truck? Did Noah?
You let me go check for you if you can,
if you want to. But if it did it that
took me out. I didn't hear the like plastic breaking
on the headline or anything here. Did you not even
(26:25):
look at it now, I was driving you got here.
Oh no, I forgot my gosh, Greg, you I mean
I'm going out. I completely forgot about it's gonna check it.
Go check it out.
Speaker 8 (26:37):
Also, there's a tree falling in the parking lot. Y'all
didn't even know that.
Speaker 11 (26:40):
You're so worried about it.
Speaker 3 (26:43):
Why are you? This is where Speedy goes out there
and acts like it's bad all that. Yeah, I get it.
Go out there, have you fun. By the way, and
by the way, uh, I love this text from West Point, Georgia.
Just so y'all know one hundred point nine, and I
hope everybody's listening. At one hundred point nine, they are
(27:03):
still running liners that say Rick and bub in the
morning I went up. They've been doing it for almost
a year, right, Well, yeah, we've been doing this for
almost a year later. Yeah, yeah, hey guys, one hundred
point nine, we're glad to update your liners. All you
have to have to tell all you have to do
is just send them to us. That's all you have
to do, all right. So Speedy's calling us, so he's
going out there to check to see damage. It ain't much.
(27:26):
The by the way, I just know Speedy was just
calling like the regular line. But now he's gone. All right,
So he's he's going out to to Greg's truck to
see if he's got any damage. So yours, he's gonna
lie and say I do well? I mean, why Greg,
we don't know that? Uh so? Uh, I don't know
where Speedy went, does he does he think? Like the speed?
(27:51):
I think I can see him. Oh here comes Okay,
she's now gonna you can see it. Yeah, all right,
so Speedy? Great? Greg? Thanks? Greg? Thanks? You're going to
not tell the truth?
Speaker 14 (27:59):
Yeah, by the way, standing in the ring for your
butt shut up?
Speaker 3 (28:05):
Well, I mean I wasn't concerned, all right, So.
Speaker 14 (28:08):
Greg, I got I gotta ask a question here, and
this is a wind play show. Buddy, Oh my gosh.
Speaker 8 (28:16):
Did you hit it?
Speaker 3 (28:17):
Kind of?
Speaker 14 (28:17):
Was it center center bottom?
Speaker 3 (28:19):
No?
Speaker 15 (28:21):
Are you sure?
Speaker 3 (28:22):
Yeah? Did you got some of the damage?
Speaker 14 (28:24):
Did you have Did you have damage on center bottom?
Speaker 3 (28:27):
Before that's possible? Well, for what you mean? What what
do you mean center bottom? What are you talking about
center of your truck in your bottom below the grill? Well,
if that's some words that I ain't worried about it anyone.
It ain't dragging.
Speaker 14 (28:44):
No, I'm asking was there already damage there?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
But there was I didn't know it. Did you hit
the deer there? Where did you hit the deer? It
was more left right to left light, left front tire,
left front tire, anything there speaking front.
Speaker 14 (28:59):
Time, No, because what happened is Greg, it is uh,
it is it is pushed in your your the bottom
front quarter panel or the bumper excuse me, not quarter panel,
the bumper underneath the under underneath the RAM logo. Uh,
and down a little bit low almost like in between.
Speaker 16 (29:17):
The fog lights.
Speaker 14 (29:19):
And then and yeah, you got you got some pretty
good damage here, bud. Uh it looks like here it's
pushed in some of the the little vent deal here.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
I don't know what.
Speaker 14 (29:30):
You call it, but it's uh, it's the front the
front bumper. I just while we're while we're talking, I'm emailing,
uh while really kind of raining out here.
Speaker 3 (29:41):
Uh.
Speaker 14 (29:42):
I just emailed a picture Adler of what I'm looking at.
So Greg doesn't think I'm lying here, by.
Speaker 17 (29:50):
The way, does he really?
Speaker 11 (29:52):
Yeah, he said he's gonna lie about it. That was
a direct quote.
Speaker 14 (29:56):
Okay, well, well, well let's the picture, lie, mister.
Speaker 3 (29:59):
I don't care right, well, that I ain't worried about.
Is this something different? Did you hit something else the
other day? That's problem? How many animals have you? So
you're saying this is but it didn't feel that way, speedy.
Speaker 7 (30:12):
Do you see the trees that fell that I was
talking about? That's real, Greg?
Speaker 3 (30:19):
What buddy?
Speaker 7 (30:20):
That's a real danse.
Speaker 3 (30:22):
Yeah, that's pretty good.
Speaker 7 (30:23):
I mean that's hanging off Greg that.
Speaker 11 (30:26):
I think that's the Yeah, that would have been.
Speaker 3 (30:29):
Yeah, it did damage. I don't know. I'd ride with.
Speaker 16 (30:37):
Greg.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
I'm sending you another one. I don't know what.
Speaker 14 (30:40):
The little flat thing that hangs down below it kind
of keeps the breeze from going under the car.
Speaker 3 (30:44):
It's it's it's half off. Yeah, how going it?
Speaker 7 (30:49):
Oh dear, and.
Speaker 3 (30:52):
Just pull it off.
Speaker 11 (30:54):
I'll just pull it off. Would you let that go
on forever?
Speaker 3 (30:58):
I don't know. I would look at it. Okay. So
so now you realize you do have a little more
Oh man, basically, speeders run your morning. I don't care.
Speaker 14 (31:11):
How am I responsible for this.
Speaker 7 (31:13):
It's your fault.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
It's your fault, buddy, yep.
Speaker 14 (31:16):
I just said, emailed you a picture of the tree too.
Speaker 11 (31:20):
About you, Greg?
Speaker 14 (31:24):
Have you have you looked underneath the truck. The deer
is freaking underneath the truck pinned under there?
Speaker 5 (31:30):
Now, who.
Speaker 3 (31:33):
Okay, holy crap, it's a lie there you go, by
the way. If it was, that would make my day.
Speaker 14 (31:47):
I'm pulling on the leg now, hang on, I pulled
it on the leg hand.
Speaker 3 (31:50):
Hang on? Hey is the heart still good? All right, madam?
Speaker 11 (31:59):
We'll look at the tree, all right, y'all, he.
Speaker 7 (32:02):
Said, not a strut tree. That's a tree, y'all.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
Yeah, I know, but I'm not worried about that. What
was that?
Speaker 1 (32:07):
A bunch of lambs.
Speaker 7 (32:08):
People parked there? That's where Speedie licked the bean.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
Okay, right, we'll be back. That's just a little damage.
Be right back.
Speaker 1 (32:20):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Old Saint Rick is
coming to toe and he's got a bag full of cash.
(32:42):
The Christmas cash countdown is coming and a tear only
on the Rick Burchers Show starts Monday.
Speaker 5 (32:51):
Oh Saint rig handing out cash bagger.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
From tax Nation. Greg must have had a bag of
Rick's mix feed from the camp house line of with
grip feed. You know, Greg might had that back there
by the way. If you want to get yours Yeah,
all you gotta do is text feed to our text
line eight eight eight six big vox or eight eight
(33:15):

that's also on our homepage there, Rick Burgess Show dot com.
So you guys have been outside with Greg.
Speaker 12 (33:28):
Yeah, you gonna take a.
Speaker 3 (33:29):
Look at it then, isn't it okay?
Speaker 10 (33:32):
All right, we're trying to push that video over to
Adler to see if you can get it up. But yeah, Greg,
he is. He's funny. He's a funny because now figuring
out otardly he's acting. He acts like he doesn't care,
but inside it's tearing him up. He can't believe it's
(33:52):
because of the hassle in it.
Speaker 3 (33:53):
Bud. Yeah, that's all I get it. I get it.
I'll never tell you one thing. Speed you'll do. He
did the same thing for me when he goes out looking. Man,
you know what he is. He's like he's for if
you hit something in your truck and you think it's
not so bad, speedy is that doctor's appointment that you
wish you hadn't you go there and the doctor's find
all kinds of things wrong, right, I mean, and so yeah, yeah,
(34:16):
and so they took y'all took Greg out for we
took Greg out and and uh, you.
Speaker 11 (34:22):
Have a good attitude. Really, I bet it was super.
Speaker 8 (34:25):
He would go from like denial to acceptance. You know,
there's the different stages you go through, and he would
be like, oh, that ain't too bad, and then he
would be quiet for a second, and then he'd be like,
I don't want to pay for that.
Speaker 7 (34:38):
It's like, yeah, it's real, buddy.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
Yeah insurance, big castle.
Speaker 7 (34:42):
Oh yeah, there's a tree that fell out there.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
There.
Speaker 7 (34:47):
We can talk about that for a little while.
Speaker 3 (34:49):
I mean, if I think that I would park over
that tree, it's not even that big guys.
Speaker 7 (34:53):
People do park there. I'm glad I didn't park there because.
Speaker 3 (34:58):
Redwood. Look what he's making such a fuss. That's a lesson.
That's like brush, just a limb. That tree that's.
Speaker 7 (35:05):
Almost as big as the tree I drove through on it.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
If it was the only parking spot in the parking lot,
I park on it. I'd rather not, but I would
could park on it.
Speaker 7 (35:15):
I don't watch out. That's saying so in rotten there.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
I'm trying to shorter video. I just condensed it.
Speaker 10 (35:22):
I hadler to see if that would help any I
don't know, but oh, I really we found we found
some other stuff. All right, they're disappearing now see if
they're coming through. Uh, we found some other stuff that
Greg cores and shouldn't care less about what. And he
thought he thought I was kidding when I said the
deer was still under there.
Speaker 3 (35:39):
But we'll show you what it goes through. Videoed it
and so let's see if Greg can make fun of that.
Greg tell everybody about where it was, because there's some
good eating lant over somewhere it was on.
Speaker 12 (35:55):
So here he is now. First of all, he thinks
your truck is his.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
Yeah, I was hoping it was. Didn't have a broke. Yeah,
the trucks are similar. Here we go. The deer's underneath there, buddy,
that's not your truck. That's that's Rick's truck, both of them.
Speaker 10 (36:12):
Look, Oh my god, holy.
Speaker 3 (36:21):
Just look at it.
Speaker 12 (36:26):
But I did find another crack here, another.
Speaker 18 (36:34):
Another cry.
Speaker 3 (36:40):
The only one word old pants. Oh yeah, guys, those
you that can't see this. After went after and put
the henry the horse head underneath Gregs sticking.
Speaker 10 (36:51):
Out right over yeah, that's so bad and we uh
And I was standing behind Greg when he been out
and that's the plumber action most guys are gonna probably
you're going to show you that when I.
Speaker 3 (37:05):
Got there, the biggest den on my crush.
Speaker 18 (37:10):
Right.
Speaker 6 (37:12):
Choice of words, Greg speaking of witch?
Speaker 7 (37:18):
Oh, Greg, sorry, buddy, that's crazy, man.
Speaker 11 (37:21):
And it could be words, it could be dragging.
Speaker 7 (37:24):
And then Greg which which eventually probably Greg would show
his soft sock while we were out there.
Speaker 8 (37:30):
He'd like, man, why didn't that deer have to Why
why couldn't he just stay with his mom?
Speaker 3 (37:33):
Like he was?
Speaker 7 (37:34):
Greg's kind Sometimes he's crazy.
Speaker 3 (37:37):
He's got a weird kind heart. But the main reason
is that if that would have happened, truck wouldn't be
then Okay.
Speaker 7 (37:45):
So it was like self interested kindness.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Yeah, but you know he's got a soft spot for him.
It's also surprising even hunts. I felt bad. I felt bad,
but I couldn't do nothing about it. Is that I
can't wreck. It's in the porn rain. I can't swerve,
like you know, you feel worse for the deer you
hit or the truck. Damn it, the truck, No question, guys,
we got we got plenty of the deer is not
(38:08):
a hassle to me from this point forward. Well, and
plus we got plenty of deer. Yeah, we are not
hurting them deer. So many that plenty. And you told
you under there though, Yeah you were right. I was
flat So so Greg, will you let it go a
few days? Oh more than a few morning so there's
(38:29):
no way you address it, say, I gotta can recall.
I gotta take anyway a recall. Why y'all look at that.
Give me the prize on that. By the way, auto
auto auto makers, y'all's recall. You're out of control. I mean,
can y'all? I mean, why why are so many recalls?
There's so many, there's a lot. It is this to
(38:50):
death the lawsuits? Where is I know? I mean that's true.
I got to send that to that recall out. Well
let me, I'm gonna claim something here.
Speaker 10 (38:58):
We will see, uh the twenty twenty sixth calendar before
that that truck is addressed.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Oh yeah, absolutely, it ain't no way that that truck's
gonna be addressing Christmas.
Speaker 8 (39:06):
No, christ Christmas will be here before you know, you
got to host Christmas fras.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
Remember I ended up in the super waiting on mind
you figured. Yeah, that's great riding around in it. Yeah,
he's tapping his fingers on.
Speaker 4 (39:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:21):
See he's picturing him seffing at rental. Right now, as
le send it, you want to send it to her? No,
she'll be horrified because the deer got killed, right, yeah,
because we're hurting on them. Yeah. Well I sent you
the pictures. You can do whatever you want to with.
M said that, send that to send it on to
you insurance. Yeah, they love it.
Speaker 12 (39:41):

Wednesday Bible Study, that kind of stuff. All right, So speedy,
Greg and Adler all here as we start a brand
new houry this Giving Tuesday. One of our favorites, Scott Dawson,
(42:58):
will be stopping by this hour. We'll be hanging out
with him. Also, if you're considering, you know, want to
point you to the Brinner Burgess Memorial Fund. This is
a memorial fund that was established eighteen years ago in
honor of my youngest son and boy, I mean for
those eighteen years, you you know, have been supporting that
through the Buzzbox coffee program, which you still can and
(43:22):
we've got some great gift ideas too that also help.
At Burgessministries dot com you'll see Buzzbox there, but you
also can just donate directly and it is it is
a nonprofit, so so you have a tax benefit there too.
And we continue to, you know, give out these grants
to evangelical ministries locally in our state, in our country,
(43:45):
and to the ends of the earth. We just followed
the instructions of Jesus so and we've seen incredible things. Wow,
have you made impact. You've made so much impact. And
so if you want to find out more about that,
just go to Burgessministries dot com and either become part
of the Buzzbox program or you can just click on
the donate button there. So Lane Kiffin, Lane, Lane Kiffin. Boy,
(44:08):
he it's really been a story, hadn't it. So Lane
is gone. Kind of an update today, Lane Kiffin will
receive the old miss playoff bonuses from LSU. This is
just I think they're paying him enough. It's it's you know,
I think what they paying him out of covering bonuses,
(44:28):
I know, but it looks like, LSU has reportedly agreed
to pay Kiffin the same bonuses he was set to
receive with Old Miss if they were to make the
college football Playoff, which they obviously are going to. If
the Rebels are in the final Bractet bracket selected by
the committee, which we think they will be, He's supposed
(44:50):
to have gotten one hundred and fifty thousand dollars from
Old Miss just for being in the first round. So
but it says even better. He was set to pick
up two hundred and fifty thousand if the team reached
the quarterfinals, a half a million for the semifinals, and
a whopping seven hundred and fifty thousand if they got
(45:11):
to the national championship. They were going to win one
million dollars. So LSU has agreed that they will. They'll
cover that. Wow. Interesting, So you know, and again I
free market if that's what it calls. Fine, but I
(45:34):
pay you. Was he getting eleven thirteen million something or
twelve or any coach whatever? Millions? I pay you? You
know what? That should cover the playoffs too, Yeah, you
know that's part of it. That's the as long as
you're winning, the season continues, I'm paying you this, I
don't why if I got to give you a bonus,
says the new deal looks like he's going to get
(45:55):
thirteen million per season, second highest paid college coach behind
Georgia's Kirby Smart. So he goes to the number two slot.
Still hadn't made a playoff game, still hadn't won a championship,
but you have to. But he gets created for making
a playoff this time. If ole Miss is selected, which
everybody thinks they will be and should be.
Speaker 11 (46:17):
Oh yeah, so so there.
Speaker 3 (46:19):
Hey, the committee will consider the fact that they're in
the middle of this coach thing they claim, you know,
when we're stuff like that, this would kind of following
that category. Well you go, is this still you know?
I mean, they're still gonna make it. My goodness, they
won eleven games. But yeah, I saw this and Speedy
told me there was a college football thing of all
places on Laura Ingram. Yeah she talked to a sports Yeah,
(46:40):
I thought that was a host and this is all
just about the state of college football. But I thought
it was a great point that was made. You know,
we always get into the who do we feel bad for?
And really, when it gets down to you get gets
down to it, you kind of walk through this. Coaches
are not loyal, that they will leave if they get
(47:03):
a better deal and think it's a better thing. Okay,
that's right. Players now now are not loyal. This guy
pointed out on Laura Ingram that thirty players playing for
ole Miss right now came from somewhere else, so they
weren't loyal to where they were true and and some
of them, the point will leave, So you can't you
can't feel too bad about them because they get the
(47:23):
better their situation. And then you kind of get down
to do you feel bad for fans. Well, fans are
only loyal to jerseys. Okay, they're not loyal to players
or coaches because if players and coaches don't do what
they want, the fans turn on them too. Now, so
I guess the only loyalty we have in college football
(47:45):
is a fans' loyalty to team colors. Yeah, that's really it. Yeah,
because not individuals now, not individuals, because remember, fans only
like individuals if they're if they're not fumbling, and they're
in they're and they're playing well, and coaches are So.
Speaker 10 (48:00):
You don't believe that somebody that that cuss Lane Kiffin
at the airport when he was leaving, was praising him
two weeks ago because of how great he is. Oh,
of course, so that fan base, to your point, Rick
isn't loyal, loyal to coach.
Speaker 3 (48:12):
Flipping him off and try and try being a player
in miss a key field goal, drop a pass fumble
and uh you know, throw a pick six and they'll
turn on you too.
Speaker 7 (48:23):
Yep, fans ain't loyal.
Speaker 3 (48:25):
So really, the I go back to that we can
only find one shred of loyalty in college football, and
that is to team colors to a uniform. Right, That's
really it. Yeah. Uh, And so you can't really fault
anybody for doing anything I know, uh if if it's
because if if they didn't do what you wanted them
(48:48):
to do, you would turn on them. So you can't
be upset when they turn on you, Right, you can't
believe they don't have the same loyalty you do, right, colors, Right,
but they don't, Well they're not because they can put
your team colors on. But if they don't do what
you want them to do I'm talking about at whatever
level you deem, you will then want them out of
(49:10):
your team colors. So you get to keep your team colors,
but nothing else is guaranteed. And if they're doing well
and they get opportunities to better themselves, they're gonna leave
your colors. Don't be mad, right, you know? Right now
on the I wonder why fans won't leave the team
colors and upgrade like players and coaches. There's a few
that they'll find you a better team. Yeah, yeah, there's
(49:31):
probably a handful. I think some do.
Speaker 10 (49:33):
Yeah, there's something being a fan with a fan I
guess that just likes the team that's good that year.
Speaker 3 (49:37):
Yeah, by all the year. Yeah, yeah, that is the ultimate.
You can't have nothing.
Speaker 10 (49:45):
So you're old miss and you have the best season
you've you've had in the history of your program. Oh yeah,
you are lying, cat my friend? Okay, and here we
go and he leaves?
Speaker 3 (49:56):
Yeah wow.
Speaker 10 (49:58):
Now Charlie Weiss Junior is offensive coordinator? Uh and Golding
is the defensive coordinator. Is everybody intact here for this this.
Speaker 3 (50:06):
First game because they got the head job, didn't it? Right?
Speaker 10 (50:09):
But I'm just saying, so, I know Lane's left, and
I understand he's he's heavily involved on plays, but you
better watch out for him. Because I mean, they might
hold it together and make a run in the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (50:23):
Yes, that could.
Speaker 10 (50:25):
I mean again, if if everything, if all assistants and
coordinators are still there.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
And I know the only reason I'm doing this because
they're they are heading the playoffs and they want to
keep as much intact. But I just thought it was
a little quick to go ahead and hand him the
head coaching job. I was a little quick. It felt
that way. It felt almost like a panic to to
to to stability without really thinking it through. Quick, Let's
(50:51):
let's stabilize. Let's stabilize. If you weren't going to the playoffs,
wouldn't he been considered?
Speaker 10 (50:56):
Okay, so wise Junior did leave with him. Okay, the
text nations saying.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
So he's on the plane. You know, somehow the player,
the players in that locker room, you would you do
have a chance that that this will galvanize them. But
players still need a staff that puts together a good
game plan against said opponent.
Speaker 11 (51:20):
Right, you still got to have both.
Speaker 3 (51:21):
Yeah, we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (51:26):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is a show
that the world desperately needs, The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 5 (51:48):
Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Speaker 3 (51:52):
Thank you for being with us with the old Rick
Burgess Show. The gang. All here is speedy, Greg and Adler.
So let me ask you one thing and then we'll
kind of close the lane Kiffin door today. I'm sure
there'll be more to report coming up. Uh Lane Kiff
and at L s U successful or not? Go? Oh oh?
Speaker 9 (52:13):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (52:14):
You think when I say successful, I mean national championship
within how many years? Just're gonna get him many at
any point? No, boy, I'm going to say, is this
is this gonna be Tennessee all over again? Is it
gonna be USC all over again? I don't think it'll
be that, but I don't know if it's gonna be
(52:34):
as quick as they want it to. Wildly successful. I'm
talking about like in the playoffs running for national championships.
Yes you believe that?
Speaker 9 (52:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (52:42):
Greg? The fact we have playoffs now, yeah, I think
I'm not saying he wins it, but Adler man.
Speaker 8 (52:51):
Tom goes quick. I didn't realize how long he had
been there.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Did six years? I feel that long ago. We're making
fun of his uh far atlantic.
Speaker 12 (53:02):
As a Missippi State fan, I thought he had been
there for twenty.
Speaker 3 (53:07):
Kind alone. So I don't know.
Speaker 8 (53:09):
I don't know if they give him some time, Ed
old Ed made it happen there.
Speaker 3 (53:15):
You know again, if it's so different now you can
have a good team immediately if you spend the money.
So okay, Uh, I'm gonna have to wait and see
how the dreams go. That's true. I'm waiting on I'm
waiting for a dream on it. You are, yeah, because
I can't make that call right now, too early, too early.
My early sense is this is not going to go well.
(53:37):
I don't really know it has that fact, it's just
a sense.
Speaker 10 (53:40):
Well, but rick back to you because I know you
have just you had a little bit of crush on him, because.
Speaker 11 (53:45):
I was glad to see you guys life together. And
now he's left the place where.
Speaker 7 (53:48):
There's like you dreamed.
Speaker 3 (53:49):
You didn't dream about him that that that isn't you're
dreaming about it. You're dreaming about dreamed that he left
and where he's headed. Temptations. Then let me tell you, you
just want.
Speaker 10 (54:00):
If he takes that life change with him, because that
that's the difference maker.
Speaker 3 (54:04):
It's almost like that Lane Kiffin had stopped hanging out
with his party friends. Hard to say that about old Miss.
I realized that sounds weird saying that that he went
to Old Miss and didn't party. That does feel weird. Uh,
but you know because it seems like most people do
the opposite. But but it's like something about that place
stabilizing him. And then baton Rouge in New Orleans. Yeah,
(54:28):
it's not that far from New Orleans at all. What if?
What if they go Long Bridge? You're there? What if?
Speaker 10 (54:35):
What if things change for the fan base? What if
we could get paid for li like in a team,
No doubt about it. But money came to us fans
and you could get in the.
Speaker 3 (54:46):
Portal and be different for fans for hire A look
that countries do that, They pay people to be Yeah,
why not influencers. I'll wear your jersey and be a
Absolutely you better believe it. That on the topic, Hey bird,
(55:14):
Hey Birds, just wanted to say, if you have a
dream about Old Miss making it far in the college playoff,
please share it. Any dreams Birds on how we're going
to do in the playoffs. I'm a rebel fan here.
I need something positive in this situation. I'm sorry, I
have had no dreams about that, no dreams at all.
Speaking of fandom, but if I have any dreams about it,
(55:36):
I'll let you know. Hey, Birds, hey Burde, enjoy the show.
Been listening, you know, all through the Rick and Bubby
years and loved the new show. Thank you, buddy. I
understand you guys may not be Auburn fans, but I
don't understand the constant bashing of Auburn, the school and
the fans. I mean, I know, Rick, your son Blake
played there, and your dad played there. Did thee did
(55:57):
the school not treat your family well? Or do they
treat them in a bad way. I know all fan
bases have nut jobs, and Auburn certainly has theirs, but
it seems like you and Greg go out of your
way to make smarter remarks about Auburn. I just don't
get it. And he said, I'm not quitting listening to
the show or anything like that. It's just an observation.
You know. What's odd is is this is this is
fandom to a t. Yeah. We we all get bashed
(56:21):
usually because everybody says that we look at everything through
Auburn eyes, says that we're biased to Auburn. We're all
Alby's uh. And then here's somebody here's somebody saying we
bash Auburn all the time. The next email is from
an Alabama I'll tell you one reason, because Auburn's paying
more fired coaches than anybody in the history of football
(56:41):
at one time. No, I want to fix that. I
email back privately to the guy, but I'll say it
now publicly since it made hay Birds. I think we're
just trying to be funny. That a lot of that
that's really and there's a lot to make fun of.
I think what you would say about us is we're
not delusional Auburn fans, and so we understand. And I
don't think we're the only Auburn fans that say what
(57:03):
just happened was so Auburn. They're gonna all burn this up.
I think great decisions, and I don't think you know
Auburn can't handle success. We're not the first people ever
say that, you know. And of course, if I'm doing
a funny bit on the show and playing a character,
I'm gonna say the things that that the character would
say because it's funny, no no other reason. I just
(57:27):
don't take it. I just don't take it that serious. Yeah,
I guess if you say Gregor, you and Auburn Alabama fan.
I said, yes, I'm an Auburn. Yeah, but it doesn't
it doesn't affect me a lot. Yeah, I'm not. I'm not.
As a kid, oh, i'd get all mad. Yeah, you
know the key that you know what the key word
there was when I was a kid. When I was
a kid. You know, when I was a child, I
(57:47):
acted as a child, and I and I spoke as
a child. But when I became a man, I put
away childish thing and humor is funny. Yeah, and so
we just don't care about it that much. When my
son played there, you know, it was it was it
was very all Banish National championship. Worst season I'd ever seen,
all in the same four years, change changed coaches in
four years, so you know, I experienced a very Auburn
(58:11):
like world. I loved that Blake was part of the
twenty ten team. Blake still loves Auburn and pulls for him,
and my youngest son is like us. He tries not
to give into Auburn because he says they break his heart.
And then he's sitting there at campus going here, I
am into this game, and I know what they're going
to do to me, and of course they did, and
so it's funny. I mean, if you listen, if you
(58:33):
don't have a sense of humor, don't be an Auburn fane.
Now did My family has nothing to do with this.
Did we have a falling out with Auburn many years
ago with Mama. Mama got mad at him and wrote
them off for a while, And then we invested in
Jacksonville State. My dad was there and couldn't care less
what Auburn or Alabama did. Our lives were at jack
(58:54):
State and what they did. Now that Dad's not there,
I pay attention. And then Blake went Auburn. We all
kind of came back to Auburn and enjoyed that and
spent four years there. But no, we're not We're not
doing anything other than trying to be funny and being honest. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (59:09):
Yeah, I think you guys do a great job of
honestly looking at it. You guys are so inside that
world of football and fandom, and I went to Auburn.
I admit I'm I am biased whenever we report on things,
but I try to be funny too.
Speaker 7 (59:24):
I try to say stupid.
Speaker 8 (59:25):
Things that Auburn fans say that football fans say. And
I think you guys do a great job of honestly
being being calling it like it is. And I am
biased and I'll admit that, but I don't think y'all
are anti anybody. I think you guys do a great
job of calling it like you see it.
Speaker 3 (59:40):
And it remains to be seen. But the choice for
the new coach maybe okay, I'm not sure i'm yet,
but seems he says the right things. Of course we've
said Harrison did too, but we've seen that before. But
I mean, this guy seems to be as good as
you know, you're taking a shot as anybody available.
Speaker 10 (59:56):
I gues most people, and it's not just a sports
You listen with fandom herrors, you know, and so you
hear things that maybe we don't mean.
Speaker 3 (01:00:03):
We're just having fun.
Speaker 10 (01:00:04):
I'm just trying to be my whole old miss thing
is a.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Here's somebody I'm friends that has the right attitude. Said, Look,
I'm a longtime Bae fan. I love Bama, this off
text nation, but I laugh at Dicky n Admire. You
know why, because this person knows it's not a real person,
and it's a stereotype and it's exaggeration to be funny. Yeah,
that's all, you know, It's all And if you don't
see it that way, you're probably hanging on a little top. Yeah,
(01:00:30):
for any sting, yeah, anything.
Speaker 1 (01:00:32):
This is the Rick Burgess Show doing what he was
(01:00:52):
born to do, The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (01:00:57):

not gonna miss that. And I was like, oh wow,
so and then I hear my son going, yeah, I'll
tell you why. Yeah, he's gonna get that field of

You know, he had an opportunity when the Rick and
Bubba show ended. That that was his opportunity to exit
and say, okay, I got beat up pretty good. Over
(01:02:35):
those thirty one years. There were times when my entire
ministry was in jeopardy and we start the new show
and you just come back. I mean, Scott Dawson, welcome
to the Rick Burgers Show.
Speaker 19 (01:02:50):
I am a glutton for punishment, but I love being
with you guys. I finally got here. It only took
me what eleven months? I realized that Speedy had blocked me.
Speaker 10 (01:03:01):
What happened, Well, we were examining phones and he was
sending text messages and I was what.
Speaker 3 (01:03:08):
I pulled him up, and I'm like, look, I'm not
getting them.
Speaker 19 (01:03:10):
Hey, those of us not in this city. It's cold
out there and it's raining. And I was texting him.
I was like, speedy him out here, let's let me in,
let me in. Kept on going is green green? And
you know what happens when it turns green.
Speaker 3 (01:03:22):
That means something something. He's blocked me.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
He broke me.
Speaker 12 (01:03:26):
So Adler was the one that came and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Got thank you.
Speaker 12 (01:03:29):
Actually I opened the door for you.
Speaker 19 (01:03:31):
Because Adler said, hey, Scott's outside.
Speaker 3 (01:03:35):
Did you go to your contact see if he blocked it?
Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
Well?
Speaker 12 (01:03:37):
No, he pulled it up.
Speaker 10 (01:03:38):
He said, are you get my text messages? I said no,
and I and I showed. I showed him up here
it turned blue. Yeah, because he turned me back.
Speaker 3 (01:03:46):
Yeah, it was going. It was going as I believe
he threw a rock trying to hide his hand. Now
I'm blocked.
Speaker 10 (01:03:54):
It was going like as a instead of I message,
he was going SMS or something.
Speaker 18 (01:03:58):
He wanted.
Speaker 10 (01:03:59):
Hey, I was thinking about this. Are we prettier than
we are? Crazy? Because you know, I mean like, because
you keep coming back, which means you know, are we
do you see us as is pretty?
Speaker 3 (01:04:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (01:04:12):
Everyone's crazy.
Speaker 10 (01:04:13):
You are pretty because sometimes you can be crazier than
you are pretty and then you're gone.
Speaker 3 (01:04:18):
You're gone. So I know that we're pretty too. There
has to be times you sit down, I would think,
maybe with your board and they're sitting there and their
whole board is looking around going do you think this relationship,
Scott is? It is the good outweigh the bad.
Speaker 12 (01:04:32):
Who dependency, you have to sell it every time.
Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
Well, they know it does good things.
Speaker 19 (01:04:36):
They have a great heart. They have a great heart.
Just look at their heart, man, they have a great personality.
Speaker 3 (01:04:41):
Yes, So so it is good to have you back.
Of course you've been man, you've been busy.
Speaker 12 (01:04:47):
It's been a busy, busy year, busy couple of years.
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
Yeah, there's two things that I would like to say,
and you're on that. There's two men, okay, that have
talked to me about. Look, man, don't overdo it. You
need to you need maybe slow it down, you know,
don't overwhelm yourself. This and that and that. That's you
and my pastor and our pastor mac Brunson. Y'all have
no credibility. I don't think that either one of y'all
(01:05:13):
can tell me. Don't overbook yourself, don't Hey, don't be
over committed. You know, hey, be sure you know you
you're balancing your life out all that because you guys
tell me that. But then y'all don't do it.
Speaker 12 (01:05:25):
Yeah, but we don't get up at three point fifteen
every morning.
Speaker 3 (01:05:28):
Okay, if we do? Ready, Hey, do you remember Greg?
Speaker 10 (01:05:33):
Do you remember getting in trouble from Scott Dawson the
last time we saw him. He got onto us about
handling you. Yeah, oh yeah, He's like, you need to
handle a coach in Atlanta.
Speaker 3 (01:05:43):
Yeah, you got onto it.
Speaker 19 (01:05:45):
You We got to pace you. You're not You're not
a bottomless pit. You're a limited research.
Speaker 10 (01:05:49):
He said that as you're speaking at this engagement and
leaving and going to another.
Speaker 3 (01:05:52):
One, I know that's what he's saying, is he can
handle it. Nois what do you expect?
Speaker 12 (01:06:00):
So here, here's what I say, not what I do.
Speaker 3 (01:06:02):
Right, It's funny. He's one of my dearest friends. So
he's in the inner circle. So I listen, and then
over here's my pastor. And now I've just said to
both of them, looking and wherever if Brunching is listening
right now, I'll just see him. I said, thank you
for your example, because I'll hear he's off doing this
and all that here and I'm teaching this and I
got to do that, and you know, I'm hosting another
(01:06:24):
trip is real and I'm just like, I'm not listening
to these people. I mean, what you say is true,
you just have not applied it to your own life.
Speaker 12 (01:06:30):
Hey, time's moving, man, let's maximize it.
Speaker 20 (01:06:35):
Now.
Speaker 12 (01:06:35):
I'm just totally changing that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:36):
Let's just go. I'm all in, let's go. I'm sending
out three yeses today, wait on me. So so let's
talk a little bit and we'll continue to have some fun.
But let's also because a lot of people today. Not
everybody does this, but I've seen that a lot of
people do. On Giving Tuesday, they're like, all right, even
if it's not today, they're like, end of the year's coming. Yeah,
(01:06:58):
so you know my giving, I've got some stuff to give. Look,
this is what we always say, don't give it to
the government. Yeah, I mean, the government's gonna take it.
Go ahead and give it to a great ministry. Of course,
that's been vetted out, and of course you have been
more than vetted out on the many years we've been
friends and you've been on the show and the things
we've done together, and so this is a place that
(01:07:22):
is completely transparent Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association. But but there's
a and you know what Scott does and his ministry
has done for those of you have been around for
a long time, back in the Rick and Bubba days
and staying with us now. But but there is a
new project, relative but relatively new. But I'd have to
say to you it is new. And this is so
(01:07:43):
I can't tell you when when I am out speaking,
you know, trying to minimize the amount of times I
go out when I am out speaking, even though my life,
even though my life is running out, but I need
to make it count. But but anyway, the you know,
it's it's a.
Speaker 12 (01:07:56):
Tough batt as a living sacrifice.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
There you go. But people that are already benefiting from
what this new institute, and we talked about it, I
guess back on a Rick and bubb University when you
first started it. But a lot of people haven't heard
about this. This is a major need and there's churches
that are excited. But there's a great opportunity out there.
(01:08:19):
If you're thinking about your end of the year giving
talk talk to everybody a little bit about the new
institute or anything else you want to put out.
Speaker 8 (01:08:25):
No.
Speaker 19 (01:08:25):
Sure, we started this a few years back, and I'm
not one of those guys that says, oh, God told me,
I don't want to blame him. I was like, I
really feel like the Lord's leading us to do this,
and he gave us the campus, two hundred thousand square
foot building. I don't think for evangelism. I can do
evangelism virtually, but he gave us the campus for the school.
(01:08:46):
It's a trade school for youth ministers. If you can,
just a vocational trade school for youth ministers, worship ministers,
children's ministers. One of the greatest needs out there. We
identified over thirty thousand job openings. Church is running from
one hundred to one thousand. Most of them have stopped
looking because you can't fill them. And if you can
fill them, they come in with a bunch of theories.
(01:09:08):
So this trade school is all about practical ministry, real
life situations. Every week they go through real life scenarios.
I mean the hardcore things, not the stuff that you
just think about. This is youth ministry in twenty twenty five.
You're doing a fall retreat and a transgender signs up
to come on the retreat. How are you going to
(01:09:29):
minister to this individual? How are you going to minister
to the individual's family, How are you going to keep
the church from blowing up? I mean, these are real
issues that honestly, most classrooms don't dare to touch on,
and we want to get our guys and gals prepared
to be on the front line. We use the term practitioners.
So what we've done is a one year in the
(01:09:50):
classroom and then one year in the field, and it
costs the student five hundred dollars a month, and we
raise ten thousand dollars per student as a scholarship.
Speaker 3 (01:10:01):
So there you go. And we were thinking it's starting
to grow at a rate. Now we realize, oh, we
got other needs we're gonna need going forward. So this
is a great opportunity for you to you talk about
investing in something and then seeing the fruit of it. Clearly,
no one has to explain it to you. You know,
you never had that where you investing in something and
(01:10:21):
you're like, did I invest in something that mattered? And
by the time they're done, you're like, I didn't follow that,
You know, this is our you know, was that that
I really know? This is simple, h these are great
needs and you know this the seminary is it's still
available for people and great things. It's not really practical
though when you're talking about the three how many categories
(01:10:43):
the category we have four lanes? Yeah, right, these four
lanes not it really isn't needed. Now. Training is needed
and you guys are providing that. But people able to think, well,
I can't invest in you know foward to six years
of seminary. What about one year in the classroom and
one year on the field and you're into vocational ministry
(01:11:05):
and you're making impact. And if you're someone who said,
you know what, I was part of funding that, you're
going to see the impact of that crystal clear.
Speaker 19 (01:11:13):
Can I just say one thing though, people go, are
you leaving evangelism? No, No, I'm multiplying evangelists in the
local church all across the country. That's what we want
to see are young men and young ladies who can
actively share their faith.
Speaker 12 (01:11:26):
It has been estimated that.
Speaker 19 (01:11:29):
Only one out of twenty now Christians in America actively
share their faith. One out of twenty. We're not even
one out of ten anymore, Rick, We're one out of twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:11:39):
Don't get me started.
Speaker 19 (01:11:40):
So we've got to have ministers that know how to
share their faith, that can train others to share their faith.
I'm seeing the long ball of this approach of having
pastors and youth pastors and worship ministers and children's ministers
in local churches that hadn't seen someone come to know
Christ in years. All of a sudden you start seeing
life start to form. All it's an incredible opportunity for it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:03):
Hit us with the four lanes again.
Speaker 19 (01:12:04):
All right, it's youth ministry, which I mean it's our
greatest asset at the most critical time. Children's minister, I mean,
that's the number one need right now in most local churches.
Worship ministry, that's not a gig but a calling.
Speaker 3 (01:12:18):
And Adler's dad's teaching there you.
Speaker 12 (01:12:20):
Go, he's Dean of worship, Michael Adler.
Speaker 19 (01:12:23):
And then our fourth lane is production man the sound,
the lights, the video. It's one of the most needed
after COVID, you know, advertising companies, new digital advertising is it,
And they came in and they scraped the bottom of.
Speaker 12 (01:12:37):
Every church out there. So how do you replenish that? Again?
Speaker 19 (01:12:41):
Thirty thousand job openings. We didn't get in this situation overnight.
We're not going to get out of it overnight. But
we started with four, then we went till eleven. Now
we're at twenty nine. We already have over forty signed
up for next year. We'll probably end up at seventy five.
Speaker 3 (01:12:56):
And to keep it affordable, you know, we need part
come along and invest absolutely and on this Giving Tuesday,
So what do they do if I want to invest
in this? What I do?
Speaker 12 (01:13:05):
You know, it's very simple.
Speaker 19 (01:13:06):
You can go to Scott Dawson dot org, forward slash give,
just go online. I think Adler's got it on your website.
So just uh, if you can reach out, we would
love to partner with you for years to come.
Speaker 3 (01:13:18):
There you go Giving Tuesday, and so take a look
at this. This is a great idea. So no, you say,
doesn't replace the evangelism wing of the ministry that's stronger
than ever and this is only impacting that. But this
is something new kind of a trade school for these
four lanes to get these jobs filled with people who
(01:13:39):
are trained and ready to do it. Youth pastors, children's pastors,
production men and women, and worship leaders we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (01:13:46):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. We talked to the
public every day and trust us, you should be gravely concerned.
Speaker 3 (01:14:13):
Merry Christmas. So we're back. Thank you for being with
us today, America. I'll tell you one thing was it
got a little uncomfortable in the break. Really. Do you
hear what Dawson said about Gary? Yeah, you know there's issues. Yeah,
I know it's there. Let me tell you something. This
(01:14:34):
is Scott Dawson is walking walking that line. I believe,
and I can't speak for Scott that he's forgiving Gary someone.
Oh that was not he looked off. Okay, now there
come back.
Speaker 12 (01:14:52):
This is where Scott.
Speaker 10 (01:14:53):
But he did a great you were free about here
goes and he thought he was out of here.
Speaker 19 (01:14:58):
So so have you play golf ambassadors?
Speaker 3 (01:15:06):
Have you forgiven Gary? God? Yeah?
Speaker 12 (01:15:12):
You know what.
Speaker 19 (01:15:12):
You were called to love everyone, but I don't have
to like everyone.
Speaker 3 (01:15:16):
There you go.
Speaker 19 (01:15:17):
So I think that's I mean, Gary, let's just go
ahead and call it. You and I have a dividing
line between us, and that's called the prank.
Speaker 12 (01:15:26):
It'll never Are you forgiven me?
Speaker 3 (01:15:29):
Yeah? Oh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 12 (01:15:32):
That was not as Wait a minute, he was just
involved as Gary.
Speaker 19 (01:15:35):
Well, you do know, not really be careful because when
words are many, sin is not absent. So I very
I carefully watch my words, so when I say something,
I mean it. Yes, I've forgiven you. I have forgiven Gary.
But if I had been elected governor, he would have
been removed from this You have never seen him again.
(01:15:58):
There would have been a helicopter after outside his house
in a second, and he would have just been removed.
Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
Just go. Yeah. So yeah, looking back, you know, it
got out of hand, and I admit that the prank
that went bad and it got out of hand, and
you know, it probably shouldn't have been put on the
Best of CD and people listen to it all over
the world, and it probably shouldn't be brought up every
time you're seen, And people still bring it up, don't they.
Speaker 19 (01:16:23):
Well, you know what, I'm very thankful you've got your
new shop because we don't have to hear that rerun
every single time.
Speaker 3 (01:16:30):
Yeah, happy time, it happened every time.
Speaker 19 (01:16:34):
Thank God, there's there's a new day for for everyone.
Speaker 3 (01:16:38):
Everyone.
Speaker 12 (01:16:39):
Well, but I.
Speaker 19 (01:16:39):
Still have the calcified bruises on my shins that will
never leave.
Speaker 11 (01:16:44):
Can you can you tell me one thing though, and
I'm not going.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
To go back to it again for the new show. Yeah,
so it can run on. No listen, I do. I've
been and maybe we've covered it, and now I don't
know that we have because I don't like bringing this
up because it us doesn't go well. When you've got
something you've been forgiven for, you need to leave it alone.
But anyway, you know, Jesus did say don't don't deny
forgiveness to people that I didn't deny to you. I
(01:17:07):
just want to absolutely, but I want to say this,
and of course we must repent though, and I've tried
to repent this present. It doesn't sound like it, but
I have. So how did that four wheeler get through
that pine thicket?
Speaker 19 (01:17:20):
I don't think we'll ever know until it gets that
I really, I mean, it happened so fast when I
heard the shot. I mean I can still in my
mind right now, right now, I can see Mark Garnett,
you know, bucking the Bronco gear and for you.
Speaker 12 (01:17:38):
To fall over.
Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
Rick.
Speaker 19 (01:17:41):
I was like, this is happening real life. Somebody just
shot one of my best friends on the planet.
Speaker 3 (01:17:47):
I realized you fell, you fell, of course it was incredible,
And I went in Isley.
Speaker 19 (01:17:56):
When you hear gun shots, you scattered, and so the
only place to go is in that, in those woods.
And I've only been back once. I've never only once.
Speaker 12 (01:18:05):
You and I went back. I don't know where I went.
I mean I literally just went through.
Speaker 19 (01:18:09):
I can have vivid memories of going through and yeah,
just going through the little things and then coming.
Speaker 12 (01:18:17):
Out like a like a bat.
Speaker 19 (01:18:20):
Yeah, I went straight across north and earlier Mark Garnett
was jumping those grassy knolls and time. Hey, I grew
up on the streets. You take it easy on these
full who.
Speaker 3 (01:18:33):
Die so but then you became a four wheel champion.
Speaker 12 (01:18:38):
In your life on the line.
Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
But you saw the pine thicket. You've seen it. We've
all seen these, y'all. If you've ever seen the southern
pine ticket of young pines, there's no room. There's no room.
And you went through there. Now that's why you have
calcilified bruises on your shins. But you shouldn't have been
able to fit through there. No, he made his own
loyal I think the Lord opened that just.
Speaker 12 (01:18:58):
Like the Red Sea parted.
Speaker 19 (01:18:59):
I think those trees parted for that boy to go
through because he knew it wasn't my time.
Speaker 10 (01:19:03):
And for those of you that are just hearing this
for the first Gary stepped out in disguise and acted
like y'all were on his property or something, and shot
above y'all's hands, and you thought Rick was shot.
Speaker 12 (01:19:15):
Above our heads.
Speaker 19 (01:19:16):
Speed not not firecrackers.
Speaker 12 (01:19:21):
He shot above, As.
Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Mark Garnett said, the difference between an average prank and
a great prank. He said two words live amm.
Speaker 19 (01:19:29):
Yeah, it went downhill from there.
Speaker 3 (01:19:33):
I'll make you believe.
Speaker 19 (01:19:34):
And then he tried to take a picture. We have
the picture somewhere.
Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
I bet your fact.
Speaker 5 (01:19:39):
He won't he.
Speaker 19 (01:19:40):
I mean, they're all yucking it up and here I am.
My legs are blieve. Called nine one one. If you
don't remember, I called nine You did.
Speaker 12 (01:19:49):
Never cussed you, you didn't.
Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
You just said solid. It was tested, Thank god.
Speaker 10 (01:19:55):
Yeah, did you tell nine one one? I think my
friend's been shot.
Speaker 12 (01:19:58):
I think my friend's been shot.
Speaker 19 (01:19:59):
And then Rick said he drove up in the gator
and he was laughing so hard he couldn't stand straight up,
and he was motioning me to come back, and I'd
already gotten out on the street, and I yelled out
Rick don't go to the barn. I've seen too many
horror movies. People get killed when you go to the barn.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 5 (01:20:27):
America Show.
Speaker 3 (01:20:37):
All right, here we go America Speedy, Greg Handler all
here for a brand new hour that.
Speaker 12 (01:20:44):
Cast step from the real world.
Speaker 3 (01:20:48):
Yeah, keeping it real. The fake world does not exist here.
We work our way into you know what he be said,
call me lot, we see it. We believe that's the
breadth the fresh air today. All right, so thanks for
being with us. If you miss any of the show,
(01:21:09):
daily archives available on the podcast channel and the YouTube channel,
so you never have to miss a moment. You know,
I didn't realize how much Dawson is still total still
fresh to him? Yeah, how long ago was it still fresh?
Speaker 10 (01:21:23):
I think he's fine until it's brought up and then
he starts talking about it and everything all the emotions
come back.
Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
I don't know the dreadlocks Gary had on right, I
don't know who who has this picture, but they have it.
They sent it on text Nation. There's the picture that
Dawson's talking about. His shins are bleeding right there, and
he does not have a look on his face like
he's ready for the picture. No, he thought. We went
to the picture a little quick, oh quick. And you
also see that his thigh is covering the front of
(01:21:50):
Mark Garnett's nets pants, which are now wet with urine.
Speaker 11 (01:21:54):
So so, anyway, it was. It was a classic.
Speaker 10 (01:21:58):
You know, we've all we've all had fun and got
out of hand, done pranks and stuff got out of hand.
Did you when it was over, did you go, oh boy,
this went a little too.
Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
When one got involved. Well, when you go, oh, well, well,
I think, like most things, when I got.
Speaker 10 (01:22:15):
I should be a quick, yes, speedy, I did think.
Then you happen to think about it. Well, I look,
I look back. It should be a quick, yeah, it
should be a really quick yeah, like oh yeah, that
wouldn't wait about this.
Speaker 3 (01:22:26):
I look back at myself and I don't know what
to think of the fact that I just started fishing
right after it. Oh well, you know, as we move on,
how many years has it been, I don't I don't know,
And it's still fresh to him. But you went fishing
right after that. Well, Garnet fished with me wet and
we eventually coached Dawson to fish, but he was he
didn't fish quick didn't care set on the bank man
(01:22:50):
blood drawnald the Shens. Yeah, well and then and then there,
I think the realization for me not as quick as
it should have been. I acknowledge that, but when I
got home, I was trying to lie about it. And
then all of a sudden, Have you ever had that
thing where your wife turns around they're just kind of
half listening, and then they turn around and go, what
did you just say? And you think, right then, I
wish I hadn't mentioned it, And before you know it,
(01:23:11):
you're sitting down and they're sitting down across from you. Now,
what did you say? You did what? And that's when
it well, what's wrong with you? And then she said
something I thought was kind of weird. She's like, you
realize that Scott Dawson or Mark Garnett could have gotten
killed on those four wheelers trying to escape. And I
got far ahead, right, and I thought, well, now you're
(01:23:32):
really ruining it. Yeah, but they didn't. They didn't. They didn't.
I mean I just heard it. I mean, a meteorite
could have fell out this guy and right thing, Yeah,
we don't know. So anyway, by the way, somebody texts
saying that their wife helped decorate uh sd a EA's
new building for Christmas. Does Scott like it? The answer
(01:23:55):
is yes, he said your wife did a fantastic going,
very nice. And also did you hear Dawson kind of
before he left? Yeah? Sure, I've been having Gary on
a lot. He's kind of taking over the show, hadn't he? Yeah,
he goes, it's been eleven months you'll been on there.
I just now got here. How many times has Gary
been on? Yeah? A lot? A lot? He brings it.
(01:24:16):
People love Gary again.
Speaker 10 (01:24:17):
It's it's that deep that's that deep inner, you know,
frustration with that still lives inside, and it's and.
Speaker 3 (01:24:26):
It's awkward to be the guy who's friends with both.
Don't you hate when your friends are not all? You know?
You're kind of like here I am. But you know
what would help?
Speaker 10 (01:24:36):
I think it would come a long way with Scott Dawson.
If Gary seems somewhat remorseful.
Speaker 3 (01:24:40):
Well, you know he's the opposite. He loved it. Yeah,
he may be one of his finest ever. And that's
a list of a lot of good one.
Speaker 10 (01:24:48):
If Gary ever sold Dawson, I sincerely apologize that went
way too far.
Speaker 3 (01:24:52):
We were just having fun.
Speaker 10 (01:24:53):
Man, I'm so sorry, Dawson would probably can you probably
help a little bit.
Speaker 3 (01:24:58):
I can't ever hear Gary saying that. Can you picture
Gary ever saying that. No, Hey, let me tell you something, Scott.
I mean, the more I think about it, maybe I
shouldn't have done that. And you know, I sitting down,
you know, I just made me any a little steak
down at like Mitchell and his Sally, and I started
thinking and little Gwyn said maybe I shouldn't have done that.
So I just want to tell you I'm sorry, and
(01:25:21):
she forgive me. That ain't gonna happen.
Speaker 7 (01:25:23):
Yeah, that sounds like Gary, but it doesn't sound like Gary.
Speaker 3 (01:25:26):
That's right.
Speaker 10 (01:25:27):
Yeah, Like have y'all invited Scott back down as the
group and said, look, I bet let's have a good afternoon.
We apologize, let's let's redo the let's redo the afternoon.
Speaker 3 (01:25:36):
Well, he knows Gary now, so he can't trick him again.
That's right.
Speaker 12 (01:25:39):
He's got to eke so he could go anywhere.
Speaker 3 (01:25:40):
And surprise you. Yep. Uh, this guy is pretty much
texting every day and I'm just going to a brutal
answer here. Uh Now, every single day, this guy asked
when is Damn Moultrie coming back to the show, And
that answer is really nothing wrong. Love Dan. We still
get along great. But he'll be back on the show
(01:26:00):
when the company that he works for decides to write
a check, and until then he won't be so that
that it really it really is that you know that
that's a business deal, and that that business still has
not has not taken place this year or so until
that happens again, we certainly will spend time together and
doing cool things together. And I love Dan. Yeah, and
(01:26:22):
I think that is coming, uh maybe in twenty twenty six. Yeah,
but you know, people that that are out there selling,
they they're pretty still they're they're sticklers about that.
Speaker 16 (01:26:33):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:26:34):
Wow. So so so there you go.
Speaker 10 (01:26:37):
And whenever we talk about Dan and going to Texas
and hunting right and just that atmosphere and him, I
always laugh and people like he said what, I'm like, Oh, yeah,
he would be in the front of the truck, would
be in the back and he'd be screaming shoot, and
he's bumping and bouncing and we're trying very funny.
Speaker 3 (01:26:54):
It was. It was a lot of fun. Oh, it was. Yeah.
There were some great trips we worn't shooting. I'm like, buddy,
you're going I don't know how to No, it's been
a it's wonderful, wonderful, wonderful And hopefully that that the
business side of that, Oh what happened again in twenty
twenty six. The personal side is still intact and having
to blast and and you know, loving the products and
all that. But the but the business side, that's that
(01:27:17):
that involves more people. Yeah, and they're they're kind of
funny about that. Yeah, all right, So we do have
we do have a story today. And I mean, the
age makes this story a little tough. Should I just
read the headline because it's a hard one team with
dreams of lion taming? This is not good mall to death.
(01:27:42):
But that dream isn't in that way. I don't want
to be insensitive here because you know that's not my nature. No,
but who dreams to be a lion tamer? I don't know, Greg,
But let me say this. He climbed into the enclosure
at the zoo with the ah and I think found
out maybe he didn't have that gift. He's not the tame.
I thought that he was in training to be one.
(01:28:05):
And it went back and you're telling me he decided
hisself that he was ready to jump in. See, those
haven't been tamed, right, No, this is that thing where
you need they're not going to do this. When you
take the whee up and hold it up and make
them to their hands like they're waving, they're not gonna
do that. This is one of those things where you
need friends to go. I don't think you're a great
line tamer. Just honestly, this line has never been tamed.
I want to say this person is dead. I want
(01:28:25):
to be clear. We need he's very young. So that's
not well, Ricky went doing we loved. Well, he did
go out doing what he loved. I guess I guess
you could say that. Of course, again, I've made this
point for several years on the old show and now
the new. No one ever says that about fat people
when the heart explodes. That's true, all right, So which
is unfair? It really is? Okay, Yeah, So this video
(01:28:46):
footage ye from the people.
Speaker 7 (01:28:51):
These people are visiting the zoo. They're behind the glass.
Speaker 8 (01:28:55):
Uh, and then they see a guy climbing down a tree,
like sliding down the tree like a environment like a
fireman going down a fireman's pole into the enclosure. The
lion is going to see him, and it goes go.
These these these animals are bored. They are looking for
some kind of entertainment at all, please, and they he
(01:29:18):
it doesn't go good for him.
Speaker 3 (01:29:19):
Guys, right, I don't see it. You don't want to
see it.
Speaker 8 (01:29:23):
No, you don't see it. But there he is coming
down the pole drag the lion. Did the lions take
all the lion takes? I see I see a snacks
below him.
Speaker 7 (01:29:38):
And he keeps going.
Speaker 3 (01:29:39):
He keeps man, he keeps coming down the dreams of
being a line tamer.
Speaker 11 (01:29:46):
What does he do.
Speaker 3 (01:29:54):
His minding?
Speaker 7 (01:29:55):
Look he's trying to run away, y'all.
Speaker 11 (01:29:57):
That all that does is make their attack instinct.
Speaker 10 (01:30:01):
Yeah yeah, Mama, Mia, all you see is oh there's
an arm.
Speaker 3 (01:30:05):
Yeah, oh this he was just just a flame.
Speaker 11 (01:30:08):
How about this tough day the zoo for your kids?
Speaker 3 (01:30:10):
Right there? Yeah, it's a blessing my name riding And
he just went down in there and and he thought
he was a tame. Yeah, I think there's more than
he just trained to beized. Yeah yeah, man, that's that's
that's pretty bad. Guy, that's real bad. You quit that
line guy and was waiting on it. Yeah, the line
was like, well this is I didn't see this. I've
(01:30:31):
been in here for years. I'd have been rethinking going this.
I've been going back up quick. He kind of had
a chance for a minute and he just went to
I mean.
Speaker 1 (01:30:42):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is what Trump
had in mind when he sought to make a marry
great again, The Rick Butcher Show.
Speaker 3 (01:31:04):
Thank you America for tuning in today, however you're here
live or only archive. We are grateful from text Nation.
Come on, guys, what if the kid's mom was tuned in?
You know, it's a horrible story, but highly unlikely. We
did look at that. Looks like it's somewhere in the
middle of Brazil, which we did take into account. Yeah,
(01:31:27):
I mean, I'm not saying that it's not possible that,
in some strange twist of fate, some Brazilian found the
show on some streaming service just in time to see
something that involves someone in their family. I think the
odds of that are pretty low and so but appreciate
your concern, but probably not even sure. In this area
(01:31:50):
there's much of a good internet. I don't even know
that Elon Musk has been there yet, so probably the
odds of that pretty low, pretty pretty low. You know,
I'm not a gambling man, but if I was, and
somebody said, you want to put that ram fifteen hundred
up that somebody in this guy's family is listening to
the show or watching it, I would put the truck
(01:32:11):
up if I was a gambling man. I feel great
about it because I think the odds of that are
pretty minuscule. But that's what's so weird is that I
thought we handled that well. Oh I did to you know,
but you know you have to remember it. Look you
actually I have the numbers here, Rick, right, So what's
our Brazilian numbers. Let's now this part of Brazil.
Speaker 10 (01:32:32):
It's zero point zero one percent change that we do
have someone listening in Brazil.
Speaker 3 (01:32:38):
Okay, I'm just looking at the vozzcast here. This this
young man's family. Probably, I don't know if they'd be
in that percentage. I've never even heard of. I bet
it was shown on TV over there. It's it's how
did you previous say that? Adler? It's j O A
O P E S s O A P A are
(01:33:00):
a I b A you lost me I don't even
know where. I don't know where any of that is. Yeah,
and the odds of that part of Brazil being in
that what is it? What's the percentage? Zero point zero
one percent? Okay, I think, but there is.
Speaker 10 (01:33:16):
A chance our streaming audience in the US it's ninety
four point nine four percent. Do you know the country
comes in second? What Denmark? I knew at one point
nine four percent.
Speaker 3 (01:33:31):
I figure that because it's one of the happiest places
on earth. Yeah. The one of the things that I
think Greg was about to go down this road and
talk about it a lot in Germany too. I know
that I think speedy. One thing you have to remember
is I think a lot of times we think that
we handled something, yeah perfectly, Hey that was that was
(01:33:52):
pretty good guy. But I think I think sometimes we
may not completely hear ourselves.
Speaker 7 (01:33:57):
Yeah, what a great cautionary tale that you I was
handled great. Yeah, that's what we think.
Speaker 3 (01:34:02):
But then it's what I thought, you know, I thought
to myself, I just I just helped somebody who was
thinking of jumping in the lines them. Yeah, not doing
it a great pop. I went to the break thinking
it was a public service PSA.
Speaker 7 (01:34:15):
Yeah, we got credit for that p s A that
we ran.
Speaker 3 (01:34:18):
Yeah, don't get tired, we said, blessing. H that's good,
that's good. That's always helpful. I think when the title
of always wanted to be a line tamer, that threw me. Yeah,
I should have. Obviously this person's got issues. I thought
there was a person first when you said that was
training because it always wanted to be one and got
it went too. I didn't realize that he let himself
(01:34:41):
into the bit of a freelancer. Yeah, a bit of
a freelance. And he didn't even have a wheep our chair,
so that's correct, right, didn't even take that with him.
Tough to get down the tree with that it is.
I'll tell you one thing we learned to whoever put
the tree there too close? Yeah, yeah, able to do that.
I shouldn't be able to do that. Yeah, that wouldn't
(01:35:02):
you know? Somebody, And I bet there was a debate
about it. You think that trees too close to? Said, well,
nobody's gonna jump in the tree and climb down in
the lines. Then who that? Somebody said, I think the
trees close? Is that Portuguese? There?
Speaker 8 (01:35:16):
He's just sliding down this tree like he's a fireman
headed to.
Speaker 7 (01:35:21):
That lion took off and was like, oh wow, I'm
not bored.
Speaker 3 (01:35:25):
For a tree. And the females are the worst.
Speaker 8 (01:35:28):
They're the hunters are the worst, just like in the
human Kingdom.
Speaker 3 (01:35:32):
Yes, inspiring line Tamer should have known that, yeah, if
you just stayed, yeah, but that you do think He
was like, well, I can't go back on you. I
know well, and the story says that he does have
some issues. That's not surprising. But and to me, if
you if you know that a loved one has those
kind of issues and they're aspiring to be a line tamer,
(01:35:54):
I think a zoo trip is off with him. This
is where we try to be more sympathy. They can
make up for a we earlier we are and it's
not going well. And in our minds and in our
minds right now, seriously, in our minds right now, we
we think, man, we're compassionate. Well, we've healed some people
(01:36:15):
that were heard. Oh yeah, I just I just feeling.
I mean right now we think we're Fred Rogers and
we're not even close. But you know what, we need
to move on there. I'm doing Okay, that's it. Because
we keep trying to clean it up and horrifying Well,
don't forget we started trying to clean up and by
claiming there was nothing to clean up. Don't miss that part,
that's where we started. Uh speed, He's got there. The
(01:36:37):
So this is this thing that that you hear people
talking about all the time about what is or isn't
a Christmas movie. You know there's some that they're not,
that are not even up for debate, and that I
think we'll come back with this because we can look
at I'm just gona kind of set it up. So
you know, there's always that thing about die Hard, which
(01:36:58):
is not a Christmas movie, even though I think add
thinks it is, but it's not. But there are things
like like did you know that every year I have
to work through one that's a struggle for me because
it it makes me feel strange, and I know it's
gonna upset some people. And it's a full blown Christmas movie.
So I'll come back to this other debate. But and
(01:37:21):
and I just watched it again last night, but it
I'm sitting there almost like docking time as it's going
and that is being Crosby and White Christmas. I never
seen it. It's just you know, there's a lot of
things happening. I know, the song there's such an old movie.
There's things happening in the movie that that that were
(01:37:44):
captured in that time and didn't move forward. A tremendous
amount of dancing, big dance numbers, you know, a lot
of a lot of singing. You been punished or having
to watch now it's a musical just constant, yeah, not
constant it, but but it does. There's some big numbers
and some of them are just kind of odd. I mean,
(01:38:05):
you're watching old Christmas movie and then there's the uncomfortable.
There's some uncomfortable things there and so I know it's
I know, it gave us a great song. I know
people think a lot of it. You know, one of
my daughter in laws loves it and and you know
that that got me in one time and struggle and
my wife likes it. Uh, but that that movie is
(01:38:26):
a struggle for me. It's a they do one thing
like they do.
Speaker 7 (01:38:32):
There's a play within them the movie.
Speaker 3 (01:38:35):
Yeah, they they do. I don't love that. And then
and it has something that I know you hate more
than anything. There's a miss there's a misunderstanding in.
Speaker 20 (01:38:43):
It, and it's and and and it's if that if
the if, the if the if the front desk person
at the at the.
Speaker 3 (01:38:53):
Vermont End had just stayed out everybody's business. I heard
the whole phone call. She would see that Ben Crosby
is not doing what she thinks he's done, and now
she's messed up his relationship with his girly lots. Yeah,
and played by George Clooney's mama.
Speaker 1 (01:39:06):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Got a signed copy

new CD Are you Ready? And all kinds of cool
items there, our sign book, any of this stuff that
you can order, you need to have those orders in

(01:39:48):

for Christmas, you know, just that you print those out
so you can get those anytime. But if it's something

about about business, you know, teaming up with us and
doing marketing plans with us. So if you're looking for
(01:40:11):

these different people that you here nationally working with us

simply contacting our syndicators Syndicated Solutions dot Com. We'll be talking,
(01:40:33):

you'd like to find out more, say I want to
talk to them. I want to do something with you
guys in twenty twenty six, go to Rick Burgess Show
at Syndicated Solutions dot Com. Rick Burgess Show at Syndicated
Solutions dot Com. Okay, so text Nation is correcting me.
(01:40:58):
So Rosemary Klune is George Clooney's aunt, not his mama.
I always thought it. I didn't know that I thought
it was his mama, you all off and being Crosby
didn't even know it well. And every time I watch it,
I go, there's George Clooney's mom, so it's it's it's
his aunt, okay, and uh and and then and then
you you've got this other dancer that's playing her sister
(01:41:20):
that looks like she has antarexia. I mean she's like
really way too skinny and like and like the outfits
don't fit right because she's so skinny, and uh and
and it's just it. And then Danny Kay, I mean,
let's face it. I mean, he's funny. But how about this,
I will say this about this movie. When you watch
these old movies and you watch these people, these talented people,
(01:41:42):
they can act, they can sing, they can dance. The
older entertainers are so much more talented than the than
the current entertainers because xcept the Kardashians, well, because we
just don't demand anything from entertainers. Now, there was a
time if you couldn't sing, if you couldn't sing and dance,
(01:42:03):
you couldn't do anything. There was back then. Play multiple instruments,
you could be you could be pretty good. And then
look at you and go, I'm sorry, it ain't good enough. Right,
you're good, but you ain't good enough. But that misunderstanding,
you know about them trying to honor their their old general,
I've never seen any of that. It's just horrible. I mean,
here's George Clinty's aunt, which I thought was his mama
(01:42:24):
because I mean being bing Crosby. He's always been a workaholic,
and he ends up with this relationship and some busybody,
some busybody who also I saw a couple of times,
and I think on was it green Acre she that
I saw her on a couple of times, or Andy Griffith.
You'd reckonizebody, you'd recognize this at this woman she's been
(01:42:46):
in like these TV shows us Helen Crump and now
it's Helen Crump. And she gets on there listening to
everybody's phone calls, only gets a portion of it thanks thanks.
Being's trying to do something he's not doing, upsets his girls.
She gets mad, she goes off, takes a gig in
New York.
Speaker 10 (01:43:01):
It's just you, And do you know that during the
misunderstanding parts of movies, I'll leave it, starts screaming, going
I'll come back. Because when it's all worked out, I
get so uncomfortable.
Speaker 3 (01:43:09):
Right. You know, when I was a kid, this is
you're gonna really love this. And Bamby when his mom
got killed, it always frustrated me because back then you
couldn't kill those And I remember skin you I don't
know why they shot herd she was was a rogue hunter. Yeah,
you're right, I remember that too. We demanded justice. I
was like, I ain't right, he's supposed to do that.
You know when we were playing dough Tags and Bamby,
(01:43:31):
when I was playing Christmas DJ from my mom, dad
and Lisa in the car, we went back to the
classics some talking about Dean Martin being crossby superteralize all
that I mean, and that's some good stuff. And boy,
they I love get my mom and dad to talking
about the memories and is it Brenda Lee I think
or something I can, but just all those old classics
(01:43:57):
and you got your modern stuff. But man, we went
way back, but they stay started. And my dad, you know,
he recognizes the voice and he can tell immediately who
that is. It's really cool just.
Speaker 10 (01:44:07):
Hear hearing the memories about that time and all that.
With the memories that, but you can go like this
thing I think was done in the forties. Maybe I
don't know, but you know, you can go too far
back or some of the numbers that they do, like
these musical numbers that make you feel weird.
Speaker 3 (01:44:22):
I know they do. They know it's they do this
thing about choreography and I guess it's making fun of
modern dancing at the time, and.
Speaker 1 (01:44:29):
It's just weird.
Speaker 3 (01:44:31):
I mean, there's certain things that are that are weird
in it that make you feel stranged. I wish they
just stay with the story because being Crosby and Danny
k Are are really good together and it's funny and
they're very talented, but when they get into these musical numbers,
it just gets a little Yeah, it's some of them
are weird.
Speaker 10 (01:44:49):
Now it was this paramount plush watching it on is
that I don't even I don't know where I saw
it on and we just saw I think we've just
had nineteen fifty four, okay, And how about the songs
were just order then we've discussed that. I don't know
what the average link of a song is now, but
back then it was like maybe two two and a
half minutes, and it was over.
Speaker 3 (01:45:07):
Yeah, there's a few moments in it where you're almost
pink floydish. Oh someone just gets weird flying pig. I'm
in on that.
Speaker 11 (01:45:15):
But anyway, but it's it's.
Speaker 7 (01:45:20):
Yeah, but you're right, you guys. You had to be
like not just a not just be able to act.
Speaker 8 (01:45:25):
You got to be able to sing. Not just be
able to sing, but you also got to be able
to dance. Oh yeah, not just do all that all
of those. You got to be able to play some instrument.
So you're we're talking quadruple threat, not double threat threat,
quadruple threat.
Speaker 3 (01:45:39):
I will go this far. I think the last thing
they required of is the ability to act.
Speaker 7 (01:45:43):
Yeah, that's that's the least important thing.
Speaker 3 (01:45:45):
And they over did it a little bit on their acting.
Sure they did. They weren't great actors, but they were
talented people. The one who overdoes it more than anybody
is Charlton Heston and ten Commandments. Great big care apology,
but yes, they overdoes it.
Speaker 7 (01:45:58):
And the women in these two I tell you what, John,
I don't know what we're.
Speaker 3 (01:46:01):
Going to do representing the actresses when we were all
concentrating on actors. All right, So so you believe on
this debate of what is a Christmas movie?
Speaker 7 (01:46:15):
Where are we Christian movie?
Speaker 21 (01:46:17):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:46:18):
Say, Christmas did Christian movie?
Speaker 4 (01:46:20):
What?
Speaker 5 (01:46:20):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:46:20):
This is even more This is even more done the
Christmas movie thing and we have all right, but this
one I didn't Okay, wait a minute, this is brand new.
I didn't know. I didn't know that Home Alone is
considered a faith movie, a Christian Christian wow movie. What
do you talk about? I didn't read all that correctly.
So this is even more interesting because it's definitely Christmas. Mute.
Speaker 10 (01:46:42):
Wait a minute, Speedy knows what I'm talking about, good
versus evil?
Speaker 3 (01:46:47):
Yes, he goes to church on Christmas Eve. Kevin.
Speaker 7 (01:46:51):
Kevin goes to the church.
Speaker 3 (01:46:55):
The creepy neighbor that he was evil and evil?
Speaker 7 (01:46:59):
Thank you?
Speaker 8 (01:46:59):
Yes, Holy Night is playing when he's in the church
as they fall on your knees.
Speaker 7 (01:47:05):
Oh hear the angel voices. All that's in it? Yeah,
the sanctuary candle.
Speaker 3 (01:47:10):
I'm sorry. All I can think about is I'm like
hitting them burglars in the head of the iron.
Speaker 8 (01:47:17):
Kevin then has an encounter. You think that you think
the old man's creepy. Some people argue that he's a
christ figure. I'll go angel, but I can't go that
far Kevin. Kevin confesses to him at one point, shakes
his hand. What do we see on Marley's hand? A bandage?
Speaker 7 (01:47:39):
You guys have chills.
Speaker 3 (01:47:44):
When we hold it out.
Speaker 7 (01:47:48):
His hand was pierced.
Speaker 8 (01:47:52):
And then at the end of the movie, Kevin cannot
save himself. He's tried, He's tried everything under the sun
to save himself.
Speaker 7 (01:48:02):
He can't. You know who can?
Speaker 8 (01:48:04):
The old man that comes back, the christ figure in
the movie. It's a Christian movie. It's him with a
shovel of truth. We've learned about that in the Bible,
helmet of righteousness, the shovel of truth.
Speaker 3 (01:48:17):
By the way, when did he become Jack Black? See? Wait?
When did become.
Speaker 7 (01:48:25):
The manger scene?
Speaker 8 (01:48:29):
I mean, it's guys, it's a it's not only a
Christmas movie, it's.
Speaker 7 (01:48:32):
A Christian movie. So you see what you'll say, Look
all wow, look at the crosses.
Speaker 3 (01:48:40):
A lot of crosses.
Speaker 7 (01:48:41):
A lot of people in that church, not a lot
of people.
Speaker 3 (01:48:44):
Can I say this? Their commitment to the community, to
the Christmas Eve service is not very good. And there's
the old man in Kevin.
Speaker 12 (01:48:50):
It's a lot of practice for three people there there's.
Speaker 7 (01:48:53):
Like fifty people in that choir, and there's four people
in the church.
Speaker 3 (01:48:56):
But here he comes at.
Speaker 8 (01:48:59):
Okay, you guys, it's a Christian movie, not just a Christmas.
Speaker 3 (01:49:03):
I've never heard that before, never heard that angle before.
Speaker 8 (01:49:07):
I just it popped across my feet and I wanted
to say it in a dramatic way.
Speaker 3 (01:49:11):
Yeah when you got it? Okay, yeah, okay, all right,
well thank you Ada. I see that movie in a
whole different light when.
Speaker 8 (01:49:18):
I remember being a kid and when the Burglars are like,
I'm gonna bite your fingers off, kiddy.
Speaker 7 (01:49:22):
I'm just like, damn, I off the movie. But then
Marley saves something.
Speaker 1 (01:49:29):
There you go.
Speaker 7 (01:49:31):
I'm watching it tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:49:32):
When we come back, Teddler shows us how Christmas Vacation
is actually a faith based die hards.
Speaker 1 (01:49:41):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, I know, the most
dangerous ten minutes in real uns greened voccals get in though,
(01:50:02):
by dialing one eight eight eight six, big foughts.
Speaker 3 (01:50:06):
Here we go, guys. All the lines are open and
we chat with you. Nothing between us and you but
airwaves and opportunity. So fire up and we go. Hey, pop, guys,
there's the reason why there weren't many people of the church.
It was a rehearsal, not the service. The old man
talks to uh, the what's the little kids naming this? Kevin? Kevin? Kevin,
(01:50:29):
old Kevin. He talks to Kevin about it, saying he
comes to the rehearsal because he's not welcome at the
service and his granddaughter's thing because of the fight with
the sun or something.
Speaker 7 (01:50:38):
Why is everybody in their dress?
Speaker 3 (01:50:39):
Roads, Yes, it was you know how these worship leaders are.
Speaker 7 (01:50:45):
Well, so he the old man is welcome at the church.
Get that old guy out of here, scart him out.
So welcome, sir, You're welcome your granddaughters.
Speaker 3 (01:50:55):
Yes, and I'm just singing. You can come listen. And
we have talked about and we do know back to
the the movie that White Christmas, the song actually appears
first in the movie Holiday Inn. Didn't know that. I
thought Holiday Inn was a hotel. Hotel it is, Greg,
it was so so yeah, we knew that too. And
that may be the uncomfortable movie where they actually do
a song in blackface. Do they really know? Yeah? Oh no,
(01:51:19):
Jimmy Cammel, No, No, that's good. Greg.
Speaker 8 (01:51:23):
By the way, people are for some reason Shirley Temple
and blackface has gone super viral, y'all. She was I
think seven when she did that, and I don't think
it was her decision, so I think we can.
Speaker 11 (01:51:35):
Yeah, she probably didn't make that call. And by the way,
what are you gonna do?
Speaker 3 (01:51:38):
She's dead? Yeah, right, so you're gonna get now. Ryan.
By the way, somebody said they can't find the link
to get a sign copy of the book two places.
If you go to Rick burgesshow dot com, just scroll
down to the bottom, there's a link right there, click

Speaker 17 (01:52:06):
Go ahead, Hey, good morning. Guess now, Rick, were you
just getting on speedy about I mean, you writ misread
the read it not disabilities this. You know it was
not a Christian movie.
Speaker 22 (01:52:23):
It was a Christmas movie.
Speaker 7 (01:52:25):
Okay, I get.
Speaker 3 (01:52:29):
That's right, buddy. Thanks there, Uh we continue. You can't
compare that to the disabilities diabetes. I think it's a
great what a reach. Rick Burgers Show unscreen phone calls,
go ahead. One of my favorite things ever.
Speaker 18 (01:52:43):
Yes, hey, guys, I'm a little late on this. I
haven't had a chance to call in. But did y'all
see it wasn't this past Sunday. It was last Sunday
before this one. Tom Brady had a misspeak when he
was doing a broadcast and he almost said the N word,
but he stopped himself and there was like a one
to two second pause and he's just like, excuse me,
and then just keeps going. It's pretty funny. You need
(01:53:05):
to look it up and find it.
Speaker 11 (01:53:06):
Oh no, okay, no, I haven't heard that.
Speaker 3 (01:53:08):
Thanks. Uh, that's yeah, there's a Did anybody ever tell
us what was wrong with Rodney Harrison? Did we ever
find out? I know?
Speaker 18 (01:53:16):
Uh?
Speaker 11 (01:53:16):
We continue bird your show. Unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 3 (01:53:20):
Hey morning guys.
Speaker 15 (01:53:21):
Hey buddy, Hey, I know it's a little bit early,
but I was wondering if I could have the privilege
of Greg telling me what I get for Christmas this year.
Speaker 3 (01:53:30):
Oh, I've checked, and you should get it soon. Nothing.
Speaker 7 (01:53:36):
I've got to Tom Brady. I got to Tom Brady.
Speaker 3 (01:53:39):
Clip. Do we do this? There's no way he's.
Speaker 7 (01:53:43):
Trying to say Landon Dickerson.
Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
Okay, see I got it, and he.
Speaker 7 (01:53:47):
Does it sounds like he sends the N word.
Speaker 3 (01:53:49):
Yeah yeah, but you gotta play. He's trying to say
the guy's name. Yeah yeah he is.
Speaker 7 (01:53:56):
Yeah, just blasting through Nicker.
Speaker 3 (01:54:00):
Excuse to speaking alanted Dickerson right almost said Nickerson. That's
a name, that's not the It wasn't that then he
almost is that a Dickerson? He almost said Nickerson? Right,
you just stop.
Speaker 7 (01:54:13):
So far.
Speaker 11 (01:54:13):
You're in bound in your safety.
Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
You know what I'm saying.
Speaker 11 (01:54:18):
No, he never Yeah, he didn't say anything. I mean,
that is a last name.
Speaker 3 (01:54:21):
It is it is. You're right, Greg say it.
Speaker 7 (01:54:24):
You just shouldn't.
Speaker 3 (01:54:27):
People need to chill out.
Speaker 11 (01:54:28):
Rick birders show unscreen phone calls.
Speaker 14 (01:54:30):
Go ahead, Hey guy, I had a thought about Geary's
e bike.
Speaker 15 (01:54:34):
You know, it's a lot like a fat girl.
Speaker 17 (01:54:35):
It's all fun to your friends.
Speaker 3 (01:54:37):
Okay, see, okay, I held that joke back the other day.
I said, well, great, thank you for that, because that's
the first thing that came to him. Mind you remember
that famous joke, Greg, Yeah, he just gave he did,
but I cut him off for you. The punch line,
Oh funning game. Rick Birders Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:54:58):
All right, Rick, I gotta t tell you about your
kipping dreams. You got it all wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:55:03):
Okay.
Speaker 15 (01:55:04):
It's a well known fact that people in Baton Rouge
listen to the Rick Burgess Show. You gave them the
idea to go after kissing.
Speaker 3 (01:55:13):
He's mad at you. Rick even think about that? Not
once again, being careless with the power of the show.
Miss says, hey, thanks, but I didn't even think about that.
I planted that seed. If we continue, Rick Burgers Show,
unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:55:29):
I just want to tell Greg happy twenty twenty five,
Happy New Year.
Speaker 3 (01:55:32):
Oh boy, he's already on it. Okay, Greg twenty twenty six.
But yeah, he was referring by oh is he going
all the way?
Speaker 10 (01:55:39):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (01:55:40):
I got okay, lines are opening. Yeah, if you've been
trying to get in, come on with it. Rick Burgers Show,
unscreen phone calls, go ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:55:49):
Oh boy, that's show y'all.
Speaker 16 (01:55:51):
Good.
Speaker 3 (01:55:51):
Hope you're well.
Speaker 16 (01:55:53):
Hey, so Rick, I hope you like your shirt?
Speaker 3 (01:55:56):
Yeah, all the shirts.
Speaker 10 (01:55:57):
This is Serge who gave us the shirts, which on
the ones he handed it to us. When you're standing
right there, just was on the back of him and
all the all the shirts you have you have in
your office.
Speaker 3 (01:56:13):
And I have mine.
Speaker 10 (01:56:14):
Okay, yeah, there is something to do with all of
our personalities.
Speaker 3 (01:56:19):
Very hard, very thoughtful. Oh yeah, that was it.
Speaker 7 (01:56:21):
I'm holding mine up right now.
Speaker 3 (01:56:23):
Rick, Oh yes, yes. And you know the reason why
I said that is I got one that just came in.
That's what threw me. That has the meter and it's
got the beard head on the end of it. Where
did that come from? Sorry, that that's him, Rick, But
I gave it here.
Speaker 10 (01:56:38):
I wasn't here, Oh are you not. That's when I
was acting like I was here for this. Yeah, that
was concerning this makes me feel better?
Speaker 3 (01:56:47):
Yeah, so Serge, that was it that Nobody told me
that you left that for me. I just found it
on my desk.
Speaker 1 (01:56:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (01:56:52):
We were at the box seats on the twenty first.
Speaker 12 (01:56:54):
Okay, well, there is a little bit jumping on me.
Speaker 3 (01:56:58):
I was here, had ye. I thought I was like, look,
you think you feel better? I feel great. I thought
I'd lost my ever loving mind. You don't know, because
I just saw it on my desk. Nobody told me
where it came from. And by the way, y'all should
all be concerned that y'all thought I was here? We did? Yeah, yeah, yeah,
(01:57:19):
thank you? Actually stupid the whole time we had him here?
Yeah where Sorry, they were so moved we're trying to
cover for it, you that you have. He was danding, right,
they were so moved by and I came to work
(01:57:40):
found on my desk. No one ever mentioned it. I
just ca about that because I did mention that to you. Okay,
you didn't know, you didn't I did that time. Well, listen,
you're not a credible source. You thought I was here,
So anything y'all say, I'm questioning now, y'all had me
sitting right here.
Speaker 7 (01:57:56):
We we were here, We were here, so we put
you here. Yeah about that.
Speaker 11 (01:58:03):
I was here in spirit, but that didn't count.
Speaker 3 (01:58:05):
So okay, by the way, that's a good one. On text,
we continue Rick Burgess show on string phone calls.
Speaker 17 (01:58:13):
Go ahead, question with skinny butt.
Speaker 8 (01:58:17):
Okay, whatever it was, I'm so glad it didn't get out.
I don't know what it was, but I'm so glad.
Speaker 3 (01:58:31):
Reck you memory came in. Look here's mine that it
was spook me. I saw average. I'm like, I've never
seen that chirp.
Speaker 5 (01:58:37):
Before in my life.
Speaker 3 (01:58:38):
You were really going on. Man, I was like, oh, guys,
this is it. This is what I knew this day
was coming. Thank you all for putting me through that. Guys,
right that was that was awful.
Speaker 12 (01:58:48):
I had you here, so we were trying to cover.
Speaker 1 (01:58:50):
Lord, here's the Rick Burgers Show.
Speaker 5 (01:59:03):
You better listen up.
Speaker 3 (01:59:07):
Feel like we say.
Speaker 20 (01:59:09):
Balls.
Speaker 5 (01:59:10):
I'm gonna tell us we gotta find.
Speaker 1 (01:59:14):
Us broadcasting from the world the Rich Burgess Show.
Speaker 3 (01:59:23):
All right, America brand you iur thanks for being with us.
We come to you from the Big Face Studios. Let
me tell you we're ready to go this hour Burgess
Ball battle. The Fox seats they're fill filled up, not
a seat available, and we've got a Burgess ball battle
for two of these people coming up, some of them
(01:59:45):
bringing gifts, some of them awfully not bringing us anything.
Now they feel terrible. You're not required to bring anything,
so we'll try to make that the least awkward we can.
We were enjoying all these things and making a fuss
over people that brought us something, as those that brought
us nothing stand there and look awkwardly on. But that'll
(02:00:06):
be coming up. We'll recognize the ones that want to
come to the big Boy Mike. We'll say hello to
them as well from the text nation, Rick, I'm sorry
when people were saying that they were doubting that you
remembered shirts even when you weren't here. You also didn't
throw Greg's sparking pass away either, did you. I forgot
about that. Now we have established I was not here
and the guys thought I was also, Rick, Where can
(02:00:28):
I buy the new feed Rick's mix from the camp
House line in Big Box Outdoors teaming up with grip feed. Well,
if you're if you you're texting, so I'm gonna make
it really easier for you. Just do what you just did,
but text the word feed f e ed to the
text line there and you'll get the link and you
(02:00:49):
just email the folks at grip feed and that email
is camp House at feed Yourdeer dot com and they'll
start engaging you and tell you hey can get it
directly to you. But a lot of you been talking
about your retailers go to if you if you have
a feed story that you go to somewhere where you
buy your feed, tell them to to email as well
(02:01:12):
and start stocking Rick's mix. Uh and uh, and they
they'll contact our friends at grip feed too, and the
same same email. So that's how you get it done.
So thanks for asking. Okay, So I have talked to
mister Daniel Helena. Hardware they carry that we get, especially
if they already have grip feed, it's so much they
(02:01:33):
have just tell them ad ad Rick met that's it.
I mean, you heard Gary's resounding. He said all he
needs is milk and a bowl. Let me tell you,
if I had a little bit of milk, I might
just eat it myself. I tell you he is great
because he likes peanuts. I do like peanuts. I know
you do. Greg. So we we talked earlier about all
(02:01:58):
the things that are stirring in in college football. So
there's a couple of things that we that that Adler
and Speedy have put together for us to to look
at today. We've already asked the question will Lane kiff
and be successful to issue and we talked about that
earlier and we got all the updates on that. Does
(02:02:20):
anybody know how to pronounce the new coach at Auburn
Alex Golisha? Boy, Alex Golish, Yeah, so did you see
his press conference? I did not, I did not. We
got a clip here on video eight. Now I will
say what he is saying is what you hope I mean?
(02:02:43):
Because yeah, with Greg? What are we? What are we
doing breaking down what he says? Greg? Sorry? Shot holds
in it? No, what does mean? You can give a
good speech? I don't mean nothing. Okay, Greg, I'm not
saying that he won't. Can you give him a minute?
He just he just Greg, he just got his Auburn quarters,
HP just got a so so so. I remember by
(02:03:07):
excited Whenhugh Fraze took it. I remember that. Okay, But
I just want you to can we just hear him? Okay?
All right? So here here's here's his name. No, it's Golish.
Here it is what.
Speaker 21 (02:03:18):
You're gonna get from me from our staff and as
we get rolling, our players is the hardest working, toughest,
grittiest program.
Speaker 7 (02:03:31):
In the entire country.
Speaker 3 (02:03:33):
We're gonna work day.
Speaker 7 (02:03:34):
In, day out.
Speaker 21 (02:03:35):
We're gonna find wins in every single margin we could find.
We're gonna build a process driven program, a process driven
program where we wake up and we worry about winning
every single aspect of our lives every single day. I
truly believe that if you buy into a process, a
(02:03:56):
way of doing things day in day out, from the
moment you wake up to how you come in to
how you attack your relationships in a building, to how
you attack the weight room, sports medicine, nutrition, the film room,
the teaching.
Speaker 7 (02:04:14):
Yeah, and then certainly the work on the field. That's it.
Speaker 10 (02:04:18):
Buy in.
Speaker 3 (02:04:19):
Then he said, actually do rock Okay, what was he
supposed to say? We're probably gonna work about three days
a week. We might show up every now and then
on the week.
Speaker 16 (02:04:29):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:04:30):
Yeah, I mean you know, Saban stole that process thing
from him.
Speaker 3 (02:04:34):
Yeah, the whole process thing. Okay, with the fin haircut, hairstylee. Well,
he's trying to be sorrk you know. Sorry, talk is
like me, you don't have enough to really pull it off.
I can't place it. I don't know if it was
a there was a former intern. He looks like somebody
I know.
Speaker 10 (02:04:51):
I figured it out, and I'm gonna tell you in
the break.
Speaker 3 (02:04:53):
Are you? Why don't you tell me? Now? No, you
got a nog on him, that's your assessment. He got
a nog on him. Welcome to Alabama, Alex. I bet
he's loving it.
Speaker 8 (02:05:06):
Hey, so you mentioned square, I think, but it was
it was red lat like when when he first came
into the picture.
Speaker 3 (02:05:15):
Square is some Asian, right right? Right? It was?
Speaker 12 (02:05:19):
It was red big Asian.
Speaker 4 (02:05:21):
It was.
Speaker 3 (02:05:24):
That's quite Asian. But I'm just saying I knew his
parents for Russian, not from something.
Speaker 8 (02:05:30):
You know, you're right, yeah, But anyway, somebody mentioned tied
him to Square.
Speaker 7 (02:05:34):
I was like, what it was? Red Square?
Speaker 8 (02:05:36):
He literally, as a seven year old, watched tanks roll
through Red Square. His family escaped to America with four
hundred dollars in their pocket.
Speaker 5 (02:05:44):
Gag.
Speaker 7 (02:05:45):
Fun of that.
Speaker 3 (02:05:46):
Don't worry. Great to have no issue as far as
the football field, And it looks like he's done pretty
good at this point. So you're saying, if I need
to escape Red Square, then if I need to beat Alabama,
let's see.
Speaker 7 (02:06:00):
Zero English at that point.
Speaker 3 (02:06:02):
Well he's overcome that, right boy, Greg.
Speaker 7 (02:06:06):
English your whole life in that true.
Speaker 3 (02:06:10):
Look, I'm not saying he may be the greatest thing
in the world. I'm just saying I mean again, well,
we're gonna try and if it works out, I hope though.
You know what's he gonna say, Well, nowadays, and maybe
he can nowadays. You know what you need to be
talking about honestly, because the process now a lot different.
The process is at one time, you don't you don't
have these guys locked in to four years for you
(02:06:32):
to mold them into the program in the process, and
you don't buy in, and they this is this is
what we do. You're out there trying to find all
star teams every year from all over the country and
transfer portals and and you know how much money you
got to pay them, and and and then if you
make it too hard, they leave and go somewhere else.
I mean, so it's a it's a different world out there,
(02:06:53):
is it. Charles and George then turn and the same
big head Greg, welcome to you, Charles list haircut and
Charles knows his head is big, right, But I mean
he just said it. I'm not sure, coach did I
(02:07:14):
don't have his going up in the skin around his side. No, No,
he's he looks so much like somebody. I know. I
know it is you. You you got it.
Speaker 16 (02:07:23):
But they got issues.
Speaker 7 (02:07:25):
They're real.
Speaker 3 (02:07:26):
Yes, if they favor you, that's not like being just
because you look like somebody doesn't mean you are that person.
Speaker 8 (02:07:33):
Yeah, y'all are like he's got a big old head. Oh,
I know who it is. It's a Charles in Charge,
a former interurt. He's a real a real Person's a
real person. Marri Coach is a real person.
Speaker 3 (02:07:45):
People, I got a big head. What's up with that?
Seven three quarters?
Speaker 8 (02:07:55):
He does say that in this time of n I
L he takes comfort in the fact that you can
still out hustle people, and then followed up with more.
Speaker 4 (02:08:03):
Damny, okay, thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:08:08):
Handlers all in. Yeah, don't you remember the time we made
coach Chiswick and he got awkward? Yes, Oh my gosh,
that was one of those. It was so bad. I
forget what ridiculous you said something he went to offer,
so you know about it. It's terrible. It comes chis
(02:08:29):
He tried to try to be mad. He even looked
at me like this guy.
Speaker 7 (02:08:34):
Hey, nice to you guys to let this guy tag along.
Speaker 4 (02:08:38):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:08:39):
You know what he did, he scanned down to see
if his past was real. That way I mess up.
Speaker 7 (02:08:47):
One time with Chiswick and one time with Jamie Johnson.
Y'all never get it. You know, out of everybody here,
you're the most excited.
Speaker 3 (02:08:56):
You got it back.
Speaker 8 (02:08:57):
I mean, I'm the most excited to see you.
Speaker 3 (02:09:00):
You got to work. You got to work on your
meeting celebrities, you really do. That's when I see this guy.
I'm just gonna say, the more and the more into
what they do they are, the worse he is.

Speedy shot that dog, little girl, Yes, Speedy's shot that dog.

Speaker 3 (02:24:19):
Oh, I'm familiar with that quite a bit. So you
guys have any questions or shout outs.
Speaker 25 (02:24:27):
I have some shout outs. I want to give a
shout out to my mom. She took the kids to
school this morning, and the in laws, and then my
staff should be listening today. So the Marshall County Child
Nutrition Program staff, the lunchury ladies and lunchrey men of
Marshall County schools. So we have chicken biscuit this morning
(02:24:47):
for breakfast. Yeah, steaking gravy for lunch. So they're riding
between meal service, so they're cooking lunch.
Speaker 12 (02:24:53):
Wow, working hard.
Speaker 3 (02:24:55):
Oh that was my favorite day on the menu steaking gravy.
Speaker 12 (02:25:00):
That was my question.
Speaker 7 (02:25:00):
What was your favorite?
Speaker 12 (02:25:01):
That was it?
Speaker 3 (02:25:02):
If I saw the western steak and gravy. I mean,
now back, you know when we were in school, y'all
probably got a little more quality food than we had. Yeah,
I don't know that you could have taken what we
were calling steak there and put it in front of a
cow and the cow would have said, I see nothing here.
That is uh. It was it was not as I
don't think it was a quality meat, but it sure
was good. I mean, and it was fried and had
gravy on top of it. Yeah, it is the stop
(02:25:24):
signed pizza still around. Yeah, that's a good one.
Speaker 7 (02:25:30):
What about square pizza? Of course, ye gotta have that
square pizza.
Speaker 3 (02:25:36):
You don't have any all our cart options, cause we
tried that at our school one time and everybody just
kept eating pizza.
Speaker 5 (02:25:41):
We do.
Speaker 25 (02:25:41):
We have all a cart All of our kids eat free.
So they got some extra money in their podcast.
Speaker 12 (02:25:45):
Al a car.
Speaker 3 (02:25:46):
Yeah that's great. And our grandmother that we speak so
highly up, she worked at lunch room and was a
manager of the lunch Yeah one of these Birmingham yet that.
Speaker 25 (02:25:58):
Yes, Scott was my hair in it.
Speaker 7 (02:26:01):
Yeah that's right.
Speaker 10 (02:26:02):
This date night, when I heard that, come yeah you
find a big enough for you, Scott.
Speaker 3 (02:26:10):
He went, he went, got one from a charter company that.
Speaker 25 (02:26:16):
This is probably gonna be our December date coming here
to see y'all. So the last day he took me on,
we went to see Predator.
Speaker 3 (02:26:26):
Have you seen have you seen his painting?
Speaker 7 (02:26:28):

Speaker 3 (02:26:30):
Yeah, he's got a painting in there that'll make you
seem different, and look at the dead fish't my haale?
Is the fish dead?
Speaker 7 (02:26:39):

Speaker 3 (02:26:41):

Speaker 4 (02:27:03):

Speaker 3 (02:27:04):
Yeah, I'm gonna get him back. I don't know how,
but I'm gonna get it. But he brought food, so

Killing Alabama from my mom origin. I guess we've got
a character character here.
Speaker 11 (02:28:36):
How you got me in the in the how you
gets you?
Speaker 10 (02:28:38):
So we take them to the to the bathroom, right,
and they're all there and there, oh sweet two hundred
and all that, and he said, hey, man, I just
saw Taylor and very good delivery. Taylor Hicks is going
to be with us next island. And I'm like, wow,
he's heard. He said, yeah, he just like he just
walked out there. That's so now I'm looking out windows,
checking my phone see if he text me so the
whole time he's messing.
Speaker 3 (02:28:58):
With that's come on, Mike. I heard you looking. I thought, well,
you'll fit in great here. Yeah. So you guys have
any questions or shout outs.
Speaker 26 (02:29:05):
Well, I just wanted to say if you ever do
have an opening, He's available on the daily. My children
and I get words of wisdom from the Rick Show
every day, every day, maybe multiple times.
Speaker 3 (02:29:16):
Oh wow, that's good.
Speaker 24 (02:29:18):
Yea.
Speaker 3 (02:29:19):
We cover important things here, absolutely, that's according to him especially.
Speaker 4 (02:29:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 26 (02:29:24):
Also, we have four children and a son in law Olivia, Lily,
Avery and Zoe and my son in law Justin, and
I just want to thank you for the work you
do with the Men's Ministry, because it was two years
ago February that I got him and my son tickets
to come see you guys in Birmingham for the Man Church,
(02:29:44):
and my daughter got her fiance at the time tickets
a ticket to come with them. And that's that same
weekend at our church in Muscle Shoals, we have a
true church conference for missionaries that we support from all
over the world come and it's just a great time
of preaching and teaching and fellowship. And so through the
(02:30:05):
combination of hearing the gospel and truth at your event,
and then at the conference he was miraculously saved and
now he is a part of our pastoral training institute
and it's going to become a minister.
Speaker 5 (02:30:19):
So thank you.
Speaker 11 (02:30:21):
That's encouraging to the whole team. Appreciate that very much.
And what about you care?
Speaker 3 (02:30:26):
Are you going to follow that? Mike? I bet he'll try,
you know, I bet he'll try.
Speaker 12 (02:30:31):
I'm just sorry.
Speaker 7 (02:30:32):
I'm just rick right now.
Speaker 3 (02:30:35):
Anyways. Uh yeah, So I got a question for you guys.
But before that, part of that too is my mom.
Speaker 27 (02:30:42):
We lost my dad and then five months later, uh,
my brother's down here fighting for his life. And every
day we listened to the show, and we listened to
it going back to the house that we were using,
and my mom would go, hey, you're gonna turn a
show on and so and she gets to hear the
(02:31:03):
ad INDs of Christ into it and just here a
few weeks ago she's been saved.
Speaker 3 (02:31:11):
Yeah, yeah, so it was great.
Speaker 27 (02:31:13):
So but the question for you guys is, as much
as y'all joke around with each other, when has been
a point where you go, okay, you kind of went
over that line today.
Speaker 3 (02:31:22):
Yeah, Well, and I've.
Speaker 10 (02:31:24):
Been doing that for sixty years, so that's yeah, yeah,
that's well. We just talked to Scott Dawson about the
the prank gone bad. I think that's a little far case.
In that case, he only said it. We never came
to that conclusion.
Speaker 21 (02:31:38):
True.
Speaker 3 (02:31:39):
True. So when you say go too far, like hey,
I'm not I'm not I'm now I'm getting mad. Are
you talking about Hey, that was over the line for
for the for the show.
Speaker 27 (02:31:48):
Oh, no, getting getting You're like, okay, we're fixing the
ground back in fire. Oh wow, you got a little
offensive on me there.
Speaker 12 (02:31:56):
You may you hurt my feelings, like like Adler in there.
Speaker 3 (02:31:58):
You know it won't take much. Yeah, there's there's been
a few times where you like, Okay, the narrative, I'm
about to come out of the corner. You know, you're
over in the corner, you're getting punched, and you're like,
ok I'm about to fight my way out of the corner.
Speaker 11 (02:32:10):
Yeah, but it's hard to dial into a specific one.
I just know I felt that way before.
Speaker 15 (02:32:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (02:32:15):
Yeah, yeah, it's a lot more fun on the other side,
it is, you know, but it's when you're getting pelted,
it's tough. Your mind has to go to to how
much fun they're having, because that's how much fun you
have when you're on somebody.
Speaker 3 (02:32:29):
I thought I was like talking to rig like putting him.
Then you remember that time he got mad.
Speaker 7 (02:32:36):
It was a complete joke.
Speaker 3 (02:32:37):
I had actually elbowed Rick like joined me on this.
Well he took it serious and he was mad mad.
Speaker 7 (02:32:46):
Yeah, I punched him right in the shin.
Speaker 3 (02:32:50):
He like a little wet hen.
Speaker 21 (02:32:53):
Down.
Speaker 18 (02:32:53):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 3 (02:32:55):
And he's got a little fire to him though.
Speaker 7 (02:32:57):
Yeah, you were just some.
Speaker 3 (02:32:58):
Punkah, Yeah, didn't know.
Speaker 7 (02:33:00):
You guys were just such jerks all the time.
Speaker 3 (02:33:02):
Yeah, now you know.
Speaker 8 (02:33:03):
Now I'm not used to it, which that was established
you from Okay, yeah, but it's all jerks.
Speaker 3 (02:33:08):
I think a lot of times those can lead to
great moments on the show. Yeah, when the person who's
getting pelt it's out enough. Yeah, and then and then
there's all kinds of well that's about to get ugly.
Make me at the face and yeah, yeah, that's what
the face is for.
Speaker 20 (02:33:20):
The we go.
Speaker 3 (02:33:21):
We go out there and that's where we find stuff. Wrestle.
That's a big ring. Did ye shout out to your questions?
That's good. We enjoyed something great support today, all of
you there in the old box seats fun bunch today
and we we thank you. Yeah, I did want to
(02:33:45):
say this. You know, if you want to find out
whenever seats are available, it's it's the word ticket. I
just saw somebody God Love them from Kentucky. They couldn't
spell it. They tried to spell it different. T I
c K E T. Ticket just sending that his ticket
and you see it that God love them. They tried
to try two different ways. I can't say nothing. No,
(02:34:08):
I can't either. My spelling is horrible. Uh video ten Adlers.
So I know it feels like today you were a
little heavy on animal tax, but I mean you can
never have too many. Well we've always covered animal tax
like no other. So we have a woman in Gatlinburg, Tennessee,
and are y'all the only ones that are noticing that
the black bears in Gatlinburg. I mean before long they're
(02:34:31):
going to be sitting there eating taffy. I mean they
keep we have a story every day. We had a
two broud send us an email. Somebody within within that group,
uh recorded a black bear and they're in crowded. They
just kind of walking around there is just like I
mean I saw one coming I ripley believed or not.
I mean it's getting crazy panks pancake house, which yeah,
(02:34:53):
oh uhcorn.
Speaker 11 (02:34:55):
Here's a woman that's telling us exactly how we should
get that.
Speaker 3 (02:34:58):
This is how you don't do it. Don't feed them? No,
why aren't we running?
Speaker 7 (02:35:04):
A fed bear is a dead bear?
Speaker 3 (02:35:08):
Yes, I mean he looks like you can pet him
around his head.
Speaker 12 (02:35:11):
But you don't need to be big.
Speaker 7 (02:35:13):
That's a big animal.
Speaker 3 (02:35:14):
This is a black bear. It's in Gatlinburg. This woman
is bending down with food for the bear and looks
like trying to get the bear. Is the bear going
to have the drinker?
Speaker 10 (02:35:25):
You do?
Speaker 3 (02:35:25):
You don't do that?
Speaker 10 (02:35:26):
Why she's not in a position to run quickly? No,
when she's got knees forward and all that.
Speaker 3 (02:35:32):
That's a little bit. Yeah, you got the one bear
that and she's in some sort of uh like what
are those colleges sliders? Yeah, you got sliders on.
Speaker 7 (02:35:41):
You can't run in birking stocks. Everybody knows, no, guys.
Speaker 8 (02:35:45):
And she's being small. You're supposed to be big. You're
supposed to look big, which is hard for me, but yes.
Speaker 3 (02:35:50):
So if you're a Gatlinburg bear. You kind of got
it going on. You figured out if we'll go to
town though, fetus, corn dogs and taff and all kinds
of stuff. And I remember when you would go to that.
That's crazy, right, you would go to Gatlinburg. You hardly
ever saw a bear, but now not in town. No, no,
And then you had a hard time find him in
the wall.
Speaker 10 (02:36:07):
I know.
Speaker 3 (02:36:07):
But now just go to town, man, I mean, that's
that little Gatlinburg area that we're all familiar with, those
of you that you know have been to Gatlinburg. So
he looks like you could reach out and pet him. Now, now, Rick,
I don't claim you can take animal animals. Can you
take that bear?
Speaker 16 (02:36:20):
No?
Speaker 3 (02:36:20):
I remember I draw the line at wolf. I've made
that very well. I know, but you kind of sometimes
make big wolves or maybe you need to stop at
coyote that they're not that.
Speaker 17 (02:36:30):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:36:30):
You saw what I did that code this best weekend.
You had a rifle. Yeah we're talking about bears. Yeah,
I did give you an ADVANTA firearm is not not
in the mix this.
Speaker 11 (02:36:40):
There's no doubt I could take a cody.
Speaker 3 (02:36:43):
But are you bit? Are you bit? And kind of
scratched up a lot. You had to get ready. Shot.
Speaker 11 (02:36:48):
Yeah, I got a lot of shots and so but
but no I could have it.
Speaker 7 (02:36:53):
But you survive?
Speaker 3 (02:36:53):
How do you? How do you get it?
Speaker 1 (02:36:55):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:36:55):
You know what I mean? I always go for the
breaking of the neck as it was after the judgment.
Has it going to lay there and let you grab it? No,
it's gonna be a fox. Yeah, horse chevy fist down
his throat, trying to pull him inside out.
Speaker 5 (02:37:08):
That's right, Yeah, feal us down head button, biting back.
Speaker 7 (02:37:11):
You're in a head butt, akyloe.
Speaker 3 (02:37:13):
Sure you're a head butt. It's not a very very
large skull. I think I can crush it.
Speaker 7 (02:37:20):
Look, you got a big face. It's not that's right.
Speaker 3 (02:37:23):
I guess it's that big. I had his head. I
could do it.
Speaker 1 (02:37:25):

got no alibi? Giants? You ugly? Hey, hey, you ugly?
Speaker 10 (02:38:51):
Young Ho was even uglier? Well, young Ho young holk cool?
Yeah the kicker, Oh yeah, oh okay. I was about
to say, was there some kind of instance? You remember
he got mad about all that?
Speaker 8 (02:39:06):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:39:07):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't know something happened in the stands.
What I mean one of the cheerleaders. Okay, Ad, don't
look at me, sir, right, see what I'm talking about?
Speaker 11 (02:39:19):
So, uh So, anyway, the Giants are horrible, and how
about this?
Speaker 3 (02:39:24):
Does it seem to you? In the post Belichick era,
the Patriots are having a great season? Yeah they are.
And it's like I'm not even I'm not even noticing it.
They didn't have it. They won like eight or nine
in a row. I think that was the ninth winning
a row all over the road, and the Broncos are hot. Okay,
all right, so but but you guys are speaking of
their kicker that has the unfortunate name of young Hokup. Correct.
(02:39:49):
Could be worse? What it could be worse? You know
if they gave that name to a sister, much worse. Yes, yeah, okay,
so uh he kind of jams his foot into the teer.
Speaker 7 (02:39:57):
What is his first time kicking?
Speaker 3 (02:40:00):
I don't know it just it was an awkward moment.
Speaker 10 (02:40:03):
Here he goes and he tries to he tries to kick,
and he jams his toe into the turf and now
it gets stuck and and now he just misses.
Speaker 12 (02:40:12):
The ball completely. His kicking foot forward and misses.
Speaker 7 (02:40:17):
The ball is the ground he just kicked to the ground.
Speaker 3 (02:40:21):
This is It's like he had a And I want
to know what battle's doing here, I mean, go get
the ball. Yes, this is I think he's shot. I
believe the defensive player for the Patriots, he he should
be going after it right now. And I think he's
standing there like I can't believe what I'm.
Speaker 7 (02:40:37):
Saying, right, you think it's going to be gone.
Speaker 3 (02:40:39):
He's standing right there.
Speaker 10 (02:40:40):
Yeah, John Elway, I said it again. Troy Aikman could
not stop laughing on the broadcast. What he was laughing
on the broadcast.
Speaker 3 (02:40:48):
I don't know how that happened. He really was. He
was like he couldn't believe it. What about if this
is your team and they're having such a terrible year and.
Speaker 10 (02:40:55):
Much yeah, yeah, or show that again, but use my channel,
Rick and play the audio while he's showing the video.
Speaker 3 (02:41:01):
This is a really good he's seven yard trying now
by young Way.
Speaker 5 (02:41:05):
Cody stumbled.
Speaker 17 (02:41:07):
I don't think I've ever seen that.
Speaker 5 (02:41:10):
Looked like he just stepped his foot right into the turf.
Speaker 7 (02:41:14):
Woops.
Speaker 3 (02:41:17):
I've never seen that.
Speaker 12 (02:41:18):
He lasts all the way they go to break. He's
laughing all the way into the.
Speaker 3 (02:41:21):
Break, so it's like he was looking off not paying attention.
Then also he realizes he's too close. I don't know.
Something weird.
Speaker 11 (02:41:28):
If your team is playing as bad as they're playing
and that happens, you just go in.
Speaker 3 (02:41:32):
There's our season right there. Yeah. I mean yeah, I
don't think I've ever seen that. That's perfect, right, this
is one of those things where you start to wonder
about players helping fix beating lines. Oh yeah, it's like
if he kicks that field, go, what is the line
in this game? I mean he goes it looks. I
mean that looks somebody threatened his family.
Speaker 7 (02:41:53):
So we also young Ho more like you suck bad.
Speaker 3 (02:41:58):
You're really on fire today. He's he didn't think he's
on air. Yeah, I know it feels like he's not.
Well yeah, I know it's and you're just you're just
stringing so many together today. Yeah, you know, I think
that's all right. How does it pronounced young way? If
it's it looks like ho, that's what's so weird.
Speaker 7 (02:42:18):
It's young Ho.
Speaker 3 (02:42:19):
But as they say, it's pronounced young way. Let me
just tell you something. Whatever you do right now, you
just need to hit the eject button. I mean okay,
I mean, h o e is hot? Right?
Speaker 4 (02:42:27):
So what what?
Speaker 3 (02:42:28):
What? How do you correctly pronounce it young? What they did?
They said that young way? What they say I thought
they young Ho? Yeah, they didn't say that.
Speaker 7 (02:42:37):
Play years again.
Speaker 3 (02:42:38):
Let me say, here's seven yard.
Speaker 19 (02:42:43):
Trying now by young way, courdy, yeah, young way, young way, Cody.
Speaker 3 (02:42:48):
They say young we don't know that. You can't it's spelled.
Speaker 7 (02:42:51):
It looks like young young, it looks like young ho.
Speaker 3 (02:42:54):
It didn't happen whether the letters h o E are
not way, But but I guess in whatever. What what's
his nationality? I must say? Is Korean?
Speaker 1 (02:43:08):
Are you?
Speaker 3 (02:43:09):
Yeah? I'm going let me see. Oh you say Korean? Yeah? Man?
This is where you know, there's some people that are
very good at this when.
Speaker 7 (02:43:21):
Some people.
Speaker 3 (02:43:23):
A rap. No, that's Henry Cho.
Speaker 7 (02:43:26):
Oh yeah, okay, he is South Korean?
Speaker 3 (02:43:31):
Joe, what are you saying here? No, No, that's nothing.
Speaker 4 (02:43:41):
I think.
Speaker 3 (02:43:43):
That's true. No, I don't know. I mean, I can't
dispute it.
Speaker 21 (02:43:47):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:43:48):
What's his name? Raisy dictator from the North grail Kim. Yeah,
see you know his name is. Can you tell the
difference between North and South barely? Yeah?
Speaker 12 (02:43:59):
Happiness?
Speaker 7 (02:44:00):
Yeah, being fed?
Speaker 12 (02:44:01):
Being fed?
Speaker 11 (02:44:04):
Usually I spot the ones from South Korea because there
are lots around, But.
Speaker 7 (02:44:09):
I don't see a lot of North Korean.
Speaker 3 (02:44:11):
No, they said, they said, he hang on right again?
Yes there you are, yeah, there there you are, pointed
running score up all right. People by the way, people
trying to blame the holder, saying he bailed on the kick.
Speaker 10 (02:44:23):
What the holder didn't move the ball leaning in but
they always yeah, okay, now is it a fake?
Speaker 8 (02:44:30):
And and and the holder didn't get the get the memocase.
Speaker 10 (02:44:34):
Look, it's like going, yeah, Rick, that explains why the
guy didn't rush from the from the right side. The
guy for the left side was rushing, so they don't hit. Yeah,
but when you see that that kicked the ground the
ball probably so he.
Speaker 7 (02:44:48):
Kicked the earth there.
Speaker 5 (02:44:50):
Now you can go.
Speaker 10 (02:44:52):
The guy the holder didn't have any other choice but
to get up or he was going to get killed
trying to get up.
Speaker 3 (02:44:59):
Scream fires.
Speaker 7 (02:45:01):
Oh wait, this explains that here he is a young hoku.
Here he is golfing. That's quite a yeah, explain that's it.
Speaker 3 (02:45:12):
Huh So, okay, that's not true. I don't read those now,
I'm not read I'm not reading what I say. You're
the one that can't get his name right?
Speaker 14 (02:45:26):
What?
Speaker 3 (02:45:26):
No, do you not think it was it was young Ho?
Speaker 11 (02:45:29):
Didn't you have the audio clip you were going to
play for this, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:45:31):
But I hadn't listened to it. I just was like,
how do you not think that's young Ho?
Speaker 10 (02:45:36):
Right?
Speaker 12 (02:45:37):
You know, how do you get way out of hope.
Speaker 7 (02:45:40):
I know, well, yeah, right, great question.
Speaker 3 (02:45:43):
I don't speak Korean. I don't know. I think you've
got to know your everybody understand. You may be sitting down,
but you're sweating because you've been playing.
Speaker 7 (02:45:53):
Yeah great, he said, you said that it's like on
your face. Right, that's how clarifying everything that we said.
Speaker 3 (02:46:01):
You don't have the point. I was gonna go on
screen phone calls here, but I don't think.
Speaker 1 (02:46:06):
So this is the Rick Burges's show. He's got a
big voice and a big face. Rick Butches.
Speaker 3 (02:46:28):
All right, all right, so we're back. Thank you for
being with us. Taylor Higgs visiting shortly. All right. So
a lot of things going on in twenty twenty six.
We had a fun twenty twenty five, so we got
a little little bit left in that tank. Twenty twenty six.
A lot of cool things happening. We've announced some of them,
but not all of them. Here's one. We have announced
(02:46:49):

take its maiden voyage, the Allurum Luxury Cruise. If you'd
like to go with sherrying me, we'll have I have
a blast coming up in fall of twenty twenty six.
This is luxury cruising. This is I mean, this is
the best of the best, delicious food. What is all included.
(02:47:12):
There's all kinds of perks and bells and whistles that
go with the price. Starting at just thirty two ninety nine.
We're talking about leaving from Turkey and ending up in Italy,
and we're going to be stopping at Greece and Montenegro
and Croatia. It is going to be a wonderful seven
day cruise and actually my birthday will be on that
(02:47:35):

dot com and just use that link right there on
the homepage. And we look forward to going cruising with
all of you. Coming up.
Speaker 11 (02:47:52):
Lord Willing and Fall of twenty twenty six of Oxford Judge,
there you go to get the wig, get in the wig.
I love when he does this a vox verdict.
Speaker 3 (02:48:08):
This is uh this is something unexpected uh from from
an emailer today from Alex uh So. Judge. When you
when you bring order to the court will begin with
the case. Uh it's almost like he starts out you
think he's going to be a pilgrim, and then he
gets out the wig and before you know it, he's
(02:48:29):
turning into Judge Eagle. So there there he is. Ok
itches the wig it? Yeah, okay, okay, judge got your gabble. Okay, okay,
you got it? Can you bring court to order?
Speaker 5 (02:48:41):
You don't?
Speaker 3 (02:48:42):
Okay?
Speaker 7 (02:48:43):
That is that how Judge Bill's land style?
Speaker 11 (02:48:44):
Okay, here, I now need a vox verdict.
Speaker 3 (02:48:50):
Okay, if you go with stereotypes according to the emailer,
and this is just a stereotype. That was not my situation.
My mother in law has passed now, but he says,
you know, husbands are not all that shocked if they
are betrayed by their mother in law from time to time,
But to be betrayed by your father in law is
something unexpected. It was holiday break. Everyone was here, kids, grandkids,
(02:49:15):
and laws. The whole tribe decided to go to the
legendary catfish place on the banks of the Tom Bigbie River.
This is in Alabama house It is known worldwide for
its catfish. Politicians have eaten there all sorts of dignitaries,
football coaches from all over the SEC have eaten there.
(02:49:36):
I mean, it is the catfish mecca. If you're going
to eat a bottom feeder, this is the place to
do it. So we drive thirty minutes over. We walk in.
It's a man's place, set in the swamps of West Alabama,
literally on the river bank. Old wooden house that is
added on to several that's been added onto several times.
(02:49:57):
Deerheads everywhere, mounted fish, wooden table, pepper sauce served from
old whiskey bottles, no napkins, just a roll of paper
towels on each table. You see the place, what fireplace burning.
Only drinks are water and sweet tea. Unsweet tea not
even offered. It drips masculinity. It is where men go.
The place is full of camo clad hunters. Now I understand.
(02:50:21):
Before we even left the house, we discussed it is
a catfish place. You get them holes, you get them strips, nuggets,
fried broiled blacken. It's all catfish. Everyone, including my father
in law, says, oh yeah, let's go have catfish. It's
a great place. Let's go.
Speaker 1 (02:50:39):
He said that.
Speaker 3 (02:50:40):
So after the water and tea come from with a
bowl of slough. Because everyone starts with their own bowl
of fresh coalslaw and crackers. We order ladies first, kids next,
then the men. We get to the eldest member, everyone
including the four year old, has ordered catfish. See him
looking at the menu. Of course, the menu looks like
(02:51:03):
it's forty years old. This man of age, who retired
after a lifetime of hard work, born and raising the South,
drifts down to the kid's menu and says out loud
in front of everybody, I'll have the kid's chicken finger basket.
I was stunned. The entire restaurant was like those old
(02:51:24):
if hutting commercials. The waitress tried to help him. She
looked and asked if this man was in some sort
of weird situation. I had to say that he was
perfectly capable, and that he did have his cognitive skills.
Speaker 11 (02:51:38):
The tables next to us scooted their seats further back.
Speaker 3 (02:51:41):
It was awful. It was embarrassing. Had we had three
sons and a grandson present for him to set the example,
and in this catfish place made for men, he orders
the kids chicken finger special. HM. The remainder of the weekend,
we could not let go of this. This isn't a
matter of trying to do a little bit better or
healthy issues to work around my goodness's chicken fingers. This
(02:52:04):
was a conscious decision. I told him this was like
walking in the coke plant and ordering a PEPSI. I
know the Bible says to honor the mother and the
father and to respect your elders, but this is a
tough test. He still maintains his innocence. I've told him
this is this is hard, but as a leader of
the family, I have to revoke his man card and
to to declining senior status. Am I right? I need
(02:52:25):
a verdict? Can I Can I just let this grievance
matter pass. I need the entire team to give me
a ruling. I need a vox verdict. Was this unacceptable?
Speaker 22 (02:52:43):
Well?
Speaker 3 (02:52:43):
He sets the scene, didn't you. I can see the place.
I kind of wish I was there, kind of wish
I was there. The kids sound, I'll say that the
kid's chicken finger late. I think the fact.
Speaker 7 (02:52:55):
Hurts that it's the kid.
Speaker 3 (02:52:56):
I'll go here, Yeah, the kid's part. Yeah, it's bad
enough chicken. When we were all jumping around fired up
about catfish, Sure that yeah, oh yeah, for sure. But
the kids part, Yeah, that's unacceptable. I think I'm with you.
I think chicken's unacceptable. Yeah, I think I let it go.
Maybe if it was like a giant fried chicken dinner,
(02:53:20):
you know, that was an option you could have, you know,
a big chicken breast, couple of legs, right, you know.
And but but I mean, he he said to this
woman in this restaurant dripping with masculinity. He's the elder
man at the table, and he says, I'll have the
kids chicken. That's the text thing. He's coloring that little
sheet they give you when they bring the crate on
(02:53:40):
the top. We're calling fowl. Sitting there in a wood shack,
calling fowl. Deer heads on the wall. Now, everybody here
has got camel on.
Speaker 10 (02:53:49):
But your family, even if you're trying to do better
and you need to eat less, you still know where
you're going and you just well just order what for
this meal?
Speaker 3 (02:53:58):
I'm just I'm just eating like everybody. Yet, what about this.
I'll have the smallest version of catfish. If you're trying
to go, yeah, if you want a smaller portion, but
you can't order the kid's chicken finger plate.
Speaker 11 (02:54:10):
No, inside of catfish.
Speaker 3 (02:54:12):
I think the old man needs to be tested. Well, well,
I mean it's on the table.
Speaker 7 (02:54:20):
Let me ask you all questions.
Speaker 8 (02:54:22):
All right, Judge, I went to, in fact, took my
grandma and the whole family to a very famous cafe
here in town as well. You're familiar with fried green
tomatoes your movie The Train. Yes, so the Irondale Cafe.
Speaker 3 (02:54:39):
But don't say this.
Speaker 8 (02:54:40):
Took the grandma there and I got fried okra instead
of fried green tomato.
Speaker 3 (02:54:45):
No, that's fine, that's all. That's not a big not everybody.
I was afraid you were going to order something weird,
like asparagus or something. Yeah. The fact the kids made
it through this order and they didn't even, that's a
good realize. All the women order catfish, all the kids
ordered catfish, and and daddy orders the children's chicken finger plate.
I think this is unanimous decision from the jury. We
(02:55:06):
find him guilty, and we revoke his man car. Wow
for how long?
Speaker 11 (02:55:11):
His man card has been revoked? For six months?
Speaker 3 (02:55:13):
Until he has until he has a full six months?
Can we go to Christmas Eve?
Speaker 8 (02:55:17):
No, and he needs to get his cholesterol above seven hundred. Yeah,
and prove it to us, right, yes, let him back in,
get his man card back.
Speaker 3 (02:55:29):
Yeah, it's pomp card. And by the way, they have
remedies for low te Yeah yes, yeah, they had all kinds.
And how about this, He's got to go spend some
time with Frank Thomas. Yeah, Frank Thomas, I'll take care
of this second.
Speaker 7 (02:55:42):
He needs to stop by the Iron Del Cafe and
have some fried green tomatoes.
Speaker 3 (02:55:46):
Also, all right, that's our rumin. I'm sorry, I got
it after he painted that picture. Good night. Yeah, that's
like going in for sofood and saying, y'all got a salad. Yeah,
we'll come back. Taylor Hicks.
Speaker 7 (02:56:03):
That's like putting on wrap or like a KKK meeting
or something. Right, guys, No, no, that was.
Speaker 3 (02:56:07):
Not exactly where we're gonna use it at all. No,
Taylor Hicks his neck fun in front of Taylor I'm
trying to be funny, showing off.
Speaker 9 (02:56:14):
Now.
Speaker 1 (02:56:15):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. He will likely be
the new CEO of Cracker Barrel.
Speaker 5 (02:56:35):
Rick Burgess, Yeah, good to be back. Thanks for hanging
out with us. The big boy mine is uh hot again.
Speaker 3 (02:56:46):
And there since Taylor Hicks here, y'all have you holidays?
Speaker 9 (02:56:50):
Yes, for having me, having me in the studio.
Speaker 3 (02:56:53):
It's been a while. We were just discussing. You were
hanging out with us in May. Yeah, at the Celerit
Proram when Adler had the awkward encounter with Jamie Johnson. Yeah,
any kind of hedn't heard that one? You haven't? Would
you like to tell Taylor Hicks what you're said?
Speaker 8 (02:57:10):
I was, all right, I like Jamie Johnson a lot.
And he got there and I got nervous, and I said.
Speaker 7 (02:57:14):
Out of everybody here, I'm the most You're the most excited, You're.
Speaker 11 (02:57:18):
The most got tied up, as opposed to he's the most, the.
Speaker 7 (02:57:22):
Most excited to meet you, Jamie Johnson.
Speaker 24 (02:57:24):
Serious, as long as I've known Jamie, he is the
most unexcited person that I've ever met.
Speaker 7 (02:57:30):
Which makes it worse because he was not excited, you know.
Speaker 24 (02:57:34):
And I mean you couldn't tell if that guy was.
I mean, he is just the most down the middle personality,
you know, but he is. Uh, he's a great guy,
you know, but you know you can't get i mean,
trying to get him to chuckle or getting him excited.
Speaker 9 (02:57:53):
Yeah, that's a feat.
Speaker 3 (02:57:54):
Yeah, not so much as basically a human squirrel didn't
argue with that.
Speaker 7 (02:58:06):
He was actually really nice to me even after I
did that.
Speaker 12 (02:58:09):
Yeah, he's a.
Speaker 7 (02:58:10):
Good guy and great music.
Speaker 27 (02:58:12):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (02:58:12):
And it may not have bothered him just because this
Taylor said nothing.
Speaker 24 (02:58:15):
Does you know he introduced me on my uh on
my opry debut and uh, he and I have been
buddies ever since, and I knew him.
Speaker 3 (02:58:25):
Uh.
Speaker 24 (02:58:25):
Interesting thing about Jamie as I was doing the House
of Blues in New Orleans right after IDOL and uh,
I walked into this little place, this little restaurant bar
area next door, and there Jamie Johnson sat.
Speaker 9 (02:58:38):
Nobody really knew who Jamie.
Speaker 3 (02:58:40):
Was at the time.
Speaker 24 (02:58:41):
Jamie had Jamie was becoming Jamie and uh, and I
kind of sat down because I knew, you know, when
musicians become prominent in Alabama, you kind.
Speaker 9 (02:58:51):
Of know their way, you know their their rise.
Speaker 24 (02:58:54):
And so I went and I just sat with him
at the bar and I said, Hey, it's it's Taylor.
I said, I said, you want to you want to
come over? And so he went from that sitting there
having you know, having dinner, to getting on the stage
with me.
Speaker 9 (02:59:07):
And that was probably about twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (02:59:09):
It was just that simple it was that simple.
Speaker 24 (02:59:12):
I just said, hey, just get up here and saying this,
you know, just get up here and do this, because
you know the people that can.
Speaker 3 (02:59:18):
Really do it.
Speaker 9 (02:59:19):
He was one of the He's one of those guys.
Speaker 1 (02:59:21):
Yeah, always ready. Yeah, love him to death.
Speaker 3 (02:59:23):
So, Taylor, I know you've got some stuff coming up
now tomorrow night. You're in Franklin, Tennessee. What what what
what's going on there?
Speaker 24 (02:59:30):
Well, I'm doing a show with the Little Riverband, oh
old school yacht, Ronda Nelson and Wayne.
Speaker 9 (02:59:42):
They've been great.
Speaker 24 (02:59:43):
There's a really great charity we're doing that for the
Franklin Theater is a great little theater up in Franklin.
It's real festive this time of year, that little town.
And I'm doing something for them, and then then I'm
doing the lyric in the next coming weeks.
Speaker 3 (02:59:58):
Yeah, so let's talk us to Franklin. Y'all enjoyed that
Little River BANDA did you? You listened to them all
the time?
Speaker 17 (03:00:05):
Oh?
Speaker 9 (03:00:05):
Yeah, all the time.
Speaker 11 (03:00:07):
I remember it like they were just cranking out hits.
Speaker 24 (03:00:09):
Like I mean, I went, I went and sat in
with them at the Orion Amphitheater probably a couple of
months ago and ended up singing reminiscing. Oh they have
you know, you can just tell you know, it's you've got.
They've got ninety minutes of hits. Oh yeah, I mean,
(03:00:30):
you know, no duds, no dudges. They were well there.
I don't know necessarily if they were number one matter,
but they were top ten hits, and you know then
within a eight or nine year span, and you know
every single one of them, and some of them you
don't know that that you thought you knew, but you
(03:00:51):
didn't know who sang them, and then they play it
and then you immediately know what the band is and
they've got great hits, had to blast with them.
Speaker 3 (03:01:00):
So let's talk about the big Christmas show that's coming
to the historic Lyric Theater, which is a really cool
room if you've never been in there, old Vaudeville theater
that was refurbished and it's just great, has a lot
of incredible history. And so I was actually with something
not too long ago there. So Taylor Hicks, it's always
you're gonna do the Christmas and then you always work
(03:01:22):
in little something else and the Christmas we got, you're
gonna do that, got to do it. So we're gonna
do Van Morrison. We're gonna do Van.
Speaker 9 (03:01:30):
I haven't done Van and Shoot quite some time.
Speaker 24 (03:01:33):
I'm coming up on ten years at the Lyric Theater
supporting Marines toys for tops. Oh yeah, they come out,
the Marines come out dressed in all the blues, and
that's a really special moment because you know, those guys
work pretty hard at getting those toys for those kids
around the holidays and they go to a bunch of
(03:01:55):
different locations and they pick those toys up for those kids,
and you know, I'm I'm just blessed to be a
part of it.
Speaker 9 (03:02:03):
And Van Morrison was something that you know.
Speaker 24 (03:02:06):
I'm my band is a little bigger this time because
my Van Morrison is a little you know, he had
a horn band.
Speaker 3 (03:02:13):
So I haven't.
Speaker 24 (03:02:14):
I haven't played with a horn band in a while,
just because I'm just depending on.
Speaker 3 (03:02:18):
What some standard horn people you go to I do.
Speaker 24 (03:02:20):
Yeah, yeah, I actually got some horn players in town
that's gonna play. And then obviously Johnny Coolenich is gonna play.
So I'm excited about doing Van Morrison. You know, it's
it's usually a pretty hard sell out, but I've got
some tickets left and I figured I'd make the rounds
and tell everybody about toys for touns and tell everybody
about the show.
Speaker 3 (03:02:38):
All right. So I remember we were it was way
back in the Rick and Bubby years when we were
on Turner South, which is way back, and we were
they had this thing where we would go and do
shows from different southern places, and we were in South
Carolina was it Greenville? And and so we were downtown
(03:02:58):
doing the show and they introduced this to this up
and coming band and they they sat down and they
played and and I remember talking to the guys and
I was like, you know, I love what these guys
are doing, but I don't know how they're going to
get any airplay because they sound like Van Morrison. And
what what radio modern day would play Van Morrison? It
(03:03:22):
was Zach Brown Band. Yeah, And so so if if
Van Morrison came out today, he would likely be a
country artist, probably with some of the stuff. I know,
some of the stuff wouldn't be but like you know
what I mean, there's that vein in Zach Brown Band
that sounds very and I know they even do the
one song where they go into you know, into the
(03:03:43):
mystic and all that, you know, when they do.
Speaker 18 (03:03:46):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (03:03:46):
Because I'm a friend as I love, Yeah, and they
go into into the mystic so uh so yeah, Van Morrison,
it's a very unique sound. But you know, I guess
it would be country now.
Speaker 24 (03:04:00):
Probably so yeah, I mean that the singer songwriter, the
soulful singer songwriter that's got some roots and that's got
some I mean, you know, Twopolo Honey by Van Morrison
is basically a country record. You know, it's I mean
between two polo honey and into the mystic and uh
straight to your heart like a cannon ball. And I
(03:04:22):
mean I grew up really digging into that music and
trying to emulate you know, Van Morrison. But yes, uh
Van probably in the States would have been a would
have been geared toward a country country record.
Speaker 3 (03:04:35):
All right, let's talk about so you and I'm am
I older than you. I can't remember, but let's just
go with that. Okay, we're around you know, but we're
from that same era. Yeah, so people and Greg talks
about this all the time too. We tell the younger
folks is that you didn't see artists ever, you know
there you might get an album and look and see
(03:04:56):
if there's a picture of them on it, but a
lot of times you would never see them. You know.
It's not like now where you've seen every new artist
there is because of all the you know, there was
no MTV. There was none when they go to the bathroom, right, right,
And so do you remember the first time that you
were like all into Van Morrison and you saw him.
You talk about somebody who does not look Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 12 (03:05:17):
He's not cool at all.
Speaker 11 (03:05:21):
The reason why we didn't see he's an odd looking fellow,
you know.
Speaker 3 (03:05:26):
But I mean you can't believe all that's coming out
of this little short yeah, stocky, yeah, you know, Irish, Yeah,
not very good hair and the man and the man
got but but fantastic. I love he's great.
Speaker 24 (03:05:38):
He's great and it's good for you know, the music
is going to be great. It kind of lends itself
to the holiday feel. And you know he's got you
want to talk about hits, I mean he's got, oh,
he's got.
Speaker 9 (03:05:49):
Plenty of hits.
Speaker 24 (03:05:50):
But I usually, you know, I'll usually weave in some
Christmas classics and yeah, dull little Elvis and uh always
like to do the stage, you know, the such a
beautiful theater, Yeah, to dress up and all the Christmas stuff,
and to be able to do it in the sweet
spot between you know, the first of the December and
(03:06:10):
then then the end of December. Right there at December twelfth,
right there on a Friday night, it's it's special for
me and I get to see family and friends and
you know, I'm excited about get putting those toys together.
Speaker 9 (03:06:23):
You can bring bring a toy for toys for tides.
Speaker 24 (03:06:26):
We fill the big box up and hopefully we'll brighten
the kids holiday up.
Speaker 3 (03:06:31):
Yeah, and you get a great show too, and in
this in this theater and only see it's about what
seven hundred and fifty Yeah, so every I mean it's
a really intimate I mean you're there, Yeah, wherever you're sitting,
you're you're you're in the action. Yeah.
Speaker 11 (03:06:43):
So so there was a few tickets that are left.
Uh so you just go to Taylor Hicks.
Speaker 24 (03:06:48):
Taylor Hicks dot com or lyricbm dot com.
Speaker 3 (03:06:51):
Okay, and then Franklin tend to say you can find
information there too, or anything else that Taylor's doing. And
the show is that yeahs open at like seven, Yeah.
Speaker 9 (03:06:59):
Yes, doors open at seven.
Speaker 24 (03:07:00):

and sign merch at the end, so you'll assue me.
Speaker 9 (03:07:07):

Speaker 3 (03:07:08):
